Reviews (page 2 of 8)
God, this is fucking awful. Why is it on the list? Aerosmith must be the most overrated band of all time. Nothing original about them, didn't break any new ground, wrote a few decent songs over the course of 50 years and the rest is a bunch of crap. There's a song on this album called Dulcimer Stomp? What do they think they are, Led Zeppelin? The best thing about this album is the one minute hidden track at the very end that they didn't even write or perform. And don't get me started on Steven Tyler's stupid face. The only good thing he did was to produce Liv Tyler, and he didn't even own up to that. 1 star.
My ex wife once had her stool sample analysed and the odour was described as "offensive". This album reminded me of that, and I would almost have rather spent the 47 minutes smelling her turd than listening to this one.
Terrible! Worst album yet, Love in an Elevator top 10 worst songs of all time?!?!
Gross
these lyrics are so corny, that fuckin cow bell, i can just see steven tyler hosting american idol. i dont like it at all. the janies got a gun song is on here. please tell me someones seen the elmos got a gun video on youtube. 0/100 hated it
Pure cock rock teamed up with over the top production.
forgetable uninspiring classical rock. Don't remember a single thing about the album one day after listening.
"Not my kind of trash"
Lol
awful, should not be on this list
I just don't like it :(
Holy shit. This is worse than I imagined. Is this some kind of parody? I can't imagine anyone involved in the production of this turd went in with a straight face. I guess they laughed all the way to the bank. I mean, white trash money is still legal tender, right? The only people who listen to this album are people who literally have nothing better to do. Oh fuck, that's me.
not my genre at all. I normally wouldn't go listen to this type of music but it's a change.
Yuck, I fucking hate this band.
too many BAD sex and drug references
Ugh I hate Aerosmith.
Do people actually listen to this weird ultra-cheesy strain of rock music? I lost braincells whilst listening to this.
It goes without saying, but this shit SLAPS!!!
9.5
One of my most personally influential albums. This was absolutely formative for me in my youth. So I’m eschewing my own rules of five stars being only for those albums that you must hear and giving it five stars. That being said it is likely worth at least three if not an easy four as it is a remarkable achievement in terms of them getting a second act in the bands career and for me, this is their peak. Other albums were more popular but this balanced their sleazy rock with broad appeal. It’s up there with Rocks and Toys as their best.
I love this record. It's a great record that spawned a lot of hits. It solidified Aerosmith's meteoric rise during their second act and made them mainstream in the modern era. Big hits and big tours followed. They were now on top of the world... again.
I had this cassette and used to listen to it front to back regularly. It’s been years and hearing “young lust” makes me feel like 1989 all over again. I’m looking for the tracks I don’t like. And I can’t remember which those are, but I know there was one or two. Monkey on my back is ok. Not horrible. Not a favorite. I don’t remember My Girl at all. Not even a little. So “My girl is forgettable”. It’s over and and I didn’t even realize. “Don’t get mad get even” is better than I remember. With medicine man I kept waiting for a hook. Again, not terrible but not my favorite. Last track “what it takes” will always be my favorite on this album. I love the sparseness and how it builds. And even when more “voices” are added it still feels open. I don’t remember the bluegrass jam at the end of what it takes. This is a really nice surprise and I’m loving it.
Masterpiece! "Going Down - Love In An Elevator" and "Water Song - Janie's Got A Gun" are real HITs! "Young Lust" is super. All tracks are amazing! Tayler's vocal is awesome. Disk cover is perfect!
Great inst and melodies.
Excelent and classic
Hella yes
Wow! I knew they were good, but their album tracks are even so much better than their hits.
Jamie's got a gun
So grateful for an album I actually enjoyed all the way through! Even beyond the hits (Love in an Elevator, Jamie’s Got a Gun, What it Takes, The Other Side) it was a great listen. (5)
This album is very enjoyable, and truly a surprise. At the beginning I thought it was really nice, but not something I would highlight and, at the end, my vision of it changed to actually feel like it is a very interesting record. I love the different sounds, sonic experiences and influences this album has, they really make it something special and, even though it's not that much of a very original record (in the sense of making something ground-breaking), it is one that combines different elements in a great and very well-done way, and the deliver is fantastic too. So, I'm very surprised and glad to have listened to this album.
9/10
Very good. Good music good vocal performance too. Liked water song. Well themed and also diverse enough to keep me interested from beginning to the end
this album freaking rocks. love in an elevator is a classic, janie's got a gun absolutely takes the cake as one of their best songs. i think it also really shows their maturity as a band, and still flexes their musicianship. a totally awesome and fun ride all the way through.
I wish I didn't go into the comment section - so many reviews complaining about it being all about sex... Are you not getting any? For those who may not know: sex is good.
Very nice!!

That time in history when Aerosnith casually dropped some massive bangers and blew up again after some less popular albums in the 80s. I think it was the drugs. Comeback incomparable to many other artists.
I love it, it was a beautiful trip
I've been waiting for this album to come up, as I wore this out when I was younger. It is just so much fun from front to back. I get it, Aerosmith can be polarizing. But there is zero doubt about their imprint on music. In short, they are one of the top US rock bands of all time - it's really them, the Eagles, Van Halen, and Metallica. They have 11 studio albums that have gone at least platinum for a reason. Stephen Tyler's voice is incomparable. His writing partnership with Joe Perry has produced so many great songs. And the band is full of great musicians. Do they have better songs earlier in their career? Yeah. Sweet Emotion and Dream On immediately come to mind (as does Kings and Queens for me). But for my money, they don't have a more complete, cover-to-cover album than this one. This album gets off to a driving start with Young Lust, which kicks ass from the jump and doesn't let up. You are just instantly drawn in. It's followed up by F.I.N.E. which is compiled in a strange way but it all comes together and just works, which is a testament to Aerosmith's talent. We then get to Love In An Elevator which is such a fun song, just an instant classic. That's followed by Monkey On My Back which I honestly had forgotten about. Janie's Got a Gun is, in my opinion, the pinnacle of this album and one of their finest compositions. A song about a woman who kills her sexually abusive father that they turn into a monster hit? Crazy! The Other Side bounces back closer to what the rest of the album had been prior to Janie's. Starting with the chorus? Yup. Another interesting song structure, and an excellent Joe Perry solo to boot. We are now 6 for 6 in excellent tracks, all of which I have in my personal library. My Girl and Don't Get Mad Get Even are as great, but they are both fun tracks all the same. They are just a bit more simplistic than what preceded them, that's all. I can see people not liking Voodoo Medicine Man, but I dig it, in part because it feels a bit different than the rest of the album. The guitars really drive in this one. What It Takes is an end of the night, bar's closing type of classic song. Really well constructed, more great Tyler vocals, call backs to other tracks on the album. It just hits all the right notes as a closer. A no doubt 5-star record. My third one in a row, after one that I never expected (Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs) and one that is totally different than this both in tone and genre (Fear of a Black Planet by Public Enemy). I knew I would end up at this rating, a relisten just affirmed my thinking. A great, great album.
If I could give this a hundred stars I would. I love Aerosmith so much.
First Aerosmith album I ever heard and I still love it. It probably fades a little in the second half but that's maybe because it comes out of the traps so fast. So many great songs on it though. And probably their last great album.
was skeptical at first but the beginning of the album blew my mind. such an american vibe. old good anericana. my first time actually listening to this band. glad it was this piece
Ai ❤️
The record is strong overall. There's some songs that are absolute bangers and difficult not to sing along to. Jamie's got a gun lifts it to 5 stars for me. It was one of the first songs I remember hearing as an early teenager that made an impression.
Iconic album, so many bangers. High energy. And yes they’re horny.
Pump is a classic. I went through my Aerosmith phase back in high school and college, and this album is, without a doubt, their best. Some of the songs have not aged well. Hell, they were cringe in 1989…I’m looking at you Love In An Elevator (and Dude Looks Like A Lady from Permanent Vacation). Despite that immaturity, these songs rock and hold way the hell up. Side two has always been my favorite. The Other Side, Don’t Get Mad Get Even, Voodoo Medicine Man and What It takes are as great as Aerosmith have ever been. I’m going with a 5 for nostalgia sake. I don’t listen to this album with the awe I had at 16, but it’s will always be a core album for me no matter where my musical tastes evolve to.
This is three Aerosmith albums in this book and I think this one deserves to be in here. I may have left out Toys in the Attic, if one had to be left out, because this is an album with 10 tracks which influenced music in the late 80's and early 90's. I know people don't like Aerosmith and some people don't like their Desmond Child-era music. Understandable. As someone who doesn't think Aerosmith has put out a good album of original music since 1997, I can agree their music can be a bit too Aerosmith-y at times. Not Pump though. I think this album best combines the 70's version of Aerosmith that does not rely on too many ballads with the 80's and 90's era Aerosmith who hired professional songwriters to help clean up the songs. My favorite tracks: Young Lust Love in an Elevator Janie's Got a Gun The Other Side Don't Get Mad, Get Even What It Takes
Loved this way back when—still love it today. ★★★★★
The sound was tight. Each instrument compliments the next so well, and the vocals are the perfect match for this type of music. Easily a 5
I didn't know what to expect, but this was excellent. Surprisingly filthy - the final verse on “F.I.N.E” may have even been too far. My favourite was “What It Takes”.
It has been a very long list of albums since I pressed play and didn’t want to skip a single song. I haven’t listen to Aerosmith like for 10+ years and I remember now why I considered them ultra cool. Steven is amazing vocalist. Jennie’s got a gun amazing song
Few songs in and I absolutely f ing LOVED Turns out I do like hard rock actually!
Classic Aerosmith here, with the instrumentals and the vibe that comes without saying with them. Very solid album.
Extremely fun! Lots of great energy. Amazing for a run (or really any workout).
Simply the best! Never seen Aerosmith albums on lists like these other than “Toys in the Attic” and “Rocks.” Hope more stuff like this by Aerosmith and other bands like them is on the list.
Loved it
I hadn’t heard a lot of these songs since my childhood, sitting in the backseat of my mom’s minivan with my dad on air drums, and I’d forgotten about their existence entirely until now. Aerosmith has a LOT of good songs on this album, and now that I have remembered them my respect for Aerosmith is greatly increased.
❤️
Pure musical joy and excitement.
ARTE!
The Good: We get automotive pornography! The Bad: We’d rather hear our partner moan… The Ugly: The cloud of smoke once the diesel engine is rev’d… Spring Break 1990! If only I could go back in time… This album blaring out of the car speakers as we headed south for a week of drinking, getting shot down by all the ladies we were interested in, and not giving a shit as we contemplated hitting on the next one! Little did we know that grunge was going to be showing up shortly… these marked the hay-days of rock n roll… the way that it was “meant” to be. I really don’t know what to say about this album except that it is tattooed on my brain! For me, every song is great… however, based on what I like, I am certain most people won’t agree with it! 5* let’s all be F.I.N.E!!!!!!
From one band's last album i looked at to another band's last album i looked at, Pump is certainly a really great way to end my journey with Aerosmith on this project because it's an absolutely fantastic album. I really like Aerosmith's heavy style of hard rock and this album has that in spades along with a lot of more extravagant sounding playing. I also liked how each song encapsulated the styles of hard rock from a catchy, hard hitting song to a softer ballad. I also think that this album never had a bad moment as these guys just really knew how to keep this album enjoyable. This certainly is a really fun album that i really enjoyed the whole way through. Best Song: Hoodoo/ Voodoo Machine Man Worst Song: Young Lust Side note: Since like i mentioned, this is gonna be my last Aerosmith album, here are my rankings: 1. Rocks 2. Pump 3. Toys In The Attic
I LIKEEEE ITTTT DAMNNNN YOUNG LUST IS A BANGER
Previously rated: #527 - Rocks (5/5) #589 - Toys In The Attic (4/5) ******************************* Album #975 I had this album when I was a teenager, but I haven't heard it in a long time (except for the singles they still play on the radio). It's still really good. I don't think there are any bad songs here. For the non-singles, I really like Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man.
9 - EXCELLENT
this was, in my opinion, their most well sequenced, wittiest, humorous and best performed album i've heard so far. this was really good, it all just worked and there were some bangers on it.
Top notch. Not a bad song on the album. Starts with a banger (Young Lust) and ends with, in my opinion, the best song on the album (What it Takes)... Great stuff and highly recommend a listen !!
Rather inappropriate, albeit a very solid album that was enjoyable to listen to.
5/5
J'adore Aerosmith.
This was "The Black Album" for Aerosmith, marking a divide between their older releases and the new incarnation of the band and their sound, and all the awards, fame and money that came with it. It is a really good album, even if you don't consider yourself a major Aerosmith fan.
Perfect. The only thing I would change is the 90 second intros on some of the tracks, I like to just get straight into the song.
I loves me some Aerosmith. This album was very much a part of my high school experience. Great songs, Steven Tyler is a crazy lead vocal, tons of range and so much attitude. The band is tight and rockin'. I did, however, come to the shocking revelation that as much as I love Aerosmith, I really don't love Joe Parry's guitar solos all that much. I'm a guitar guy so it's so weird to be able to over look that and still enjoy the music as much as I do. It's all about the songs, my friends.
Du rock 'n' roll comme on en fait plus, que demander de plus ? Des sons que j'avais jamais entendu, encore une fois sûrement moins profond si t'écoute les lyrics mais putain qu'est ce que ça rock !
Great album. I enjoyed it. Good fast pace to the start of the album
Awesome
Um Clássico do Aerosmith. Muita energia e boas músicas. CVJ Neko.
honestly, just incredibly surprised I‘d never heard it because I loved it!!!!
This album rocks. 4 all time tunes - cheesy or not.
Now THIS is some rock and roll, man. Every song a banger while also having consistently unique sound. Will absolutely be listening again
Me encantó.
This is the hundred ninety sixth album I’m rating. This reminds me of that guy who died from manual cranks. Adding to my Playlist - Young Lust, F.I.N.E., Going Down/Love in an Elevator, Monkey on my Back, Water Song/Janie’s got a Gun, Dulcimer Stomp/The Other Side, My Girl, Don’t Get Mad, Get Even, Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man, and What it Takes. Not Adding to my Playlist - Nothing. All in all I liked 10/10 songs. Classic classic rock from a classic band.
Great LP! A few staples of the era and lets be fair, this is fun. Jamies Got A Gun is a fanfuckingtastic song, same with several others here. Great LP
Absolute 💎
Hell yeah! Straight rocker cover to cover.
First off, can we appreciate the fact that Pump was Aerosmith’s tenth studio album and it still landed with this much punch? That’s impressive, especially for a band releasing it in '89. “Young Lust” kicks it off as a straight-up '80s metal banger, setting the tone for what's ahead. Then you've got classics like “Love in an Elevator” and “Janie’s Got a Gun,” two songs burned into my memory from growing up. “Dulcimer Stomp” stood out as a killer intro to “The Other Side.” It honestly gave me Zeppelin vibes, which I didn't see coming from an Aerosmith record. Bonus points because some of these songs are featured on Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, arguably the coolest way to experience Aerosmith's music.
I hadn't heard of this Aerosmith album by name before, somehow, but seeing how many of their hits are on it, it makes sense that it showed up here. Damn it, it rocks. And it's pretty deep into their discography to boot. "Young Lust" is a perfect opener and just a great track, as are "Love In An Elevator," "Jamie's Got A Gun," "The Other Side," and all their opening "sub tracks." So many hits on one album. Pump is the perfect length, sounds great, and goes pretty hard. There really isn't a terrible song on here. Pop it in and go for a drive. I tend to like Aerosmith too so this one hit for me. I grew up with them and it reminds me of learning about rock and roll. They were the first band I saw live, with Cheap Trick. Maybe Aerosmith has kind of a sketchy rap today, but let's be honest, anyone who can't find something good in this is a snob. Whatever, I'm a sucker for this... 5 stars.
30/07/2025 I was actually surprised how good this album was. I've never done Aerosmith before.
Everybody has that first album that they bought with their own money that had an outsized influence on their life. This was mine.
Hard rock, unpretentious, well-arranged and composed, by some of the best in the business. I'm a philistine, perhaps, but I'll have to disagree with anyone calling this metal (of any sort: hair, glam, etc.). I also don't get the hate for the band or the album in these reviews. It's possible I like Aerosmith so much because they were a staple of my musical taste development. They were pretty much the biggest mainstream rock band when I was a kid. They released albums for my parents in high school, and then for me in high school. Hate on, haters. I guess..? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A classic
On of the best Aerosmith albums, if not the best…..
It's rather something to consider where Aerosmith was at the start of the 80's versus where they were at the end. Aerosmith had been one of the biggest blues-y hard rock bands of the 70's, with monster albums like GET YOUR WINGS, TOYS IN THE ATTIC and the widely acclaimed ROCKS (heck, the latter two are on this list). They were damn near on top of the world. However, in the early 80's Joe Perry had left the band following an argument backstage with Steven Tyler — or Perry was fired, depending on who you ask. Either way, the album that came out following, NIGHT IN THE RUTS, can charitably be considered... Not their best. For that matter, neither was the one put out after that, ROCK IN A HARD PLACE. Not to mention, there were so many drugs flying around that, legit, there was a show where Steven Tyler passed out on stage and didn't wake up for the rest of the set. These were wild times for certain, where the future of the band was uncertain. Fast-forward, then, to the late 80's, and 1989 specifically. Joe Perry had rejoined the band, they'd all gotten sober, the group had become a reliable touring act, and had gained a whole new MTV generation of fans thanks to a collaboration with Run-D.M.C. on a cover of "Walk This Way". On top of all that, they'd proven once again that they were hitmakers. Although their first attempt at a comeback failed (1985's DONE WITH MIRRORS), they struck gold and then some with their second: 1987's PERMANENT VACATION. Y'know, the one with "Dude (Looks Like A Lady)". That album proved that even a decade-and-change into their career, they still had what it takes to hit the top. Though, let's be real about that album: it was a safe shot. After DONE WITH MIRRORS had underperformed, they needed a hit record, so with PERMANENT VACATION they shifted into a pop metal sound and brought in outside songwriters to help with the lyrics (sometimes one word in the case of "Rag Doll"). So while it kept Aerosmith popular, it was a small ways away from the sound they were known for. Thus, we come to 1989's PUMP. And, y'know, that's a lot of historical context for this album I wouldn't otherwise give normally. After all, while history and context **can** be important, I've always valued what the album meant to me more overall. However, in the case of this album, I think it's important to understand where exactly it fits in Aerosmith's discography — I've always liked this thing, but with this new information in mind, I think I like it even more. 'Coz let's be clear: this is the best album they put out in the entire 80's. Not that there was much competition, of course — again, go look at NIGHT IN THE RUTS — but regardless it's because of what they accomplished here that puts it over the top. To quote something I read Stephen Thomas Erlewine say (on Wikipedia), they were able to "revels in [pop concessions] without ever losing sight of [their] dirty hard rock core[.]" That's the trick of it — that's what makes this album so great. It's the most perfect balance between what Aerosmith had become in the late 80's, versus who they were in the 70's. On the one hand, you have the poppier tracks: "Love In An Elevator", "What It Takes", and "Janie's Got A Gun" — and yes, that last one is poppy, despite its subject matter. In fact, let me say right now that it might probably be the best song here. I mean, hell, it won a GRAMMY, for whatever that's worth. It's an experimentation in mood that I can't recall ever hearing from the band before, and yet it pays off in spades. Seriously, the "run away" bridge has to be one of the highlights of the whole record. Then we have "Love In An Elevator", which, true, is 20% verse, 40% chorus and 40% guitarsolo, but, heck, it's a fun song; I've always liked it. The chorus **is** a great chorus, even if they just hit the trick of repeating it forever, and the solo **is** a great solo. Joe Perry can damn **play**, let's not kid ourselves. And, hey, "What It Takes" is a damn good ballad closer. I wouldn't say it's on the exact same level as the ones TOYS and ROCKS have, but, damn, it's up there. Then we've got the hard rock songs: "Young Lust", "F.I.N.E.*", "Monkey On My Back"... All proof that Aerosmith can jam the fuck out without having to worry about a catchy chorus. I mean, I just really do enjoy that PERMANENT VACATION had been such a hit for a band that they were comfortable mixing in more of their old hard rock style, and it hardly feels out of place. I know for a lot of people this kind of music is nothing more than horned-up dad rock, but dammit, I ain't gonna lie to you and say I don't have a dad's music taste at heart sometimes. These songs rock like hell, and at the end of the day, that's all I need. "Gimme a good guitar" and all that. Put 'em all together with a few neat-o intros on a couple of the songs to act as transitions, it's no wonder this thing turned out to be an even bigger hit than PERMANENT VACATION was. Just goes to show, it doesn't need to be all "Dude (Looks Like A Lady)" to be a hit with the general public. And I really do wanna stress how much of a perfect balance this album is by comparing it to their next album, GET A GRIP. Now, there's a number of songs off of GET A GRIP that I enjoy ("Livin' On The Edge", "Cryin'"), but there were way more outside songwriters on that thing than either PERMANENT VACATION or PUMP had. So, as much as I have an affection for that album (despite its "early CD" album bloat), I gotta say: PUMP feels like the last great Aerosmith album. Certainly, the albums they released after GET A GRIP didn't hit as high (NINE LIVES and JUST PUSH PLAY), and I've still never heard a thing from MUSIC FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION. (And who even cares about HONKIN' ON BOBO?) But with all said, yeah, if I were to recommend only three Aerosmith albums, PUMP would be one for sure. It's just a blast, with some of the best tunes of their career. It's proof that just because you're leaning in a poppier direction doesn't mean you hafta give up on the dirty white blues fool you were. And, y'know... Damn, it's just good. I ain't even got any other ways to put it. Just find a copy and pump it the hell up. "Fine" indeed.
Aerosmith always kicks ass. 4.5 bumped up to 5.
Pretty damn easy 5. Juvenile as hell & a bit suspect lyrically for some dudes in their 40s, over-produced to high heaven & dated like a motherfucker to 1989, with Steven Tyler belting like there’s no tomorrow & the band playing with an energy that’s beyond reminiscent of Bon Jovi’s “Slippery When Wet”. It is yet another encapsulation of 1980s hard rock, and it’s just a style that I am an unabashed complete sucker for. Don’t get me wrong; I see the haters, I understand the haters, and I honestly kind of get where it’s coming from. With that said, I could give less of a shit about any of their entirely valid complaints. I am a simple man with a simple rule for 80s hard rock, which is “just rock the fuck out and let me enjoy it”. They rocked the fuck out, and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it a LOT, really. Give me some power guitar, some loud drums, & Steven Tyler belting to some totally fine lyrics on a decent variety of styles, no matter how vaguely one-note it ends up feeling, and you’ve got a successful formula for an album. This is, ironically, my first full Aerosmith album. The extent of my Aerosmith knowledge is probably like most people’s: “Sweet Emotion”, “Dream On”, “Walk This Way”, & the eternally cheesy classic “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”. None of those are on this album, so I truly had no point of reference, but I’m very glad I didn’t come into this with an expectation. 3 of those 4 tracks are the slower, more ballad-y ones, and in the case of “Walk This Way”, it’s much closer to the Thin Lizzy school of 70s rock. They’re all very different from what this album goes for, which is just pure 80s hard rock, flaws & all. I hit a complete zen state with this one, so as far as the individual tracks go, I don’t really have much to say. The bigger ones on this album (mainly the singles & especially “Janie’s Got a Gun”) lived up to their acclaim, but this thing is just peppered with high-energy stuff throughout, a lot of which is well written when it’s not horny as hell. Even when it is horny as hell, it’s so over-the-top cheesy that I can’t in all seriousness really think that a 41-year-old Steven Tyler actually wants “young lust”, or that he’s actually “masturbating with a noose” on Voodoo Medicine Man. I really wish I could touch more on a lot of these tracks, but I was extremely locked in on the vocal progressions (killer when he hits the one syllable at a time thing), the drum fills & guitar solos. Obviously, my brain caught the lyrics, but they’re secondary here to the energy everyone brings. For my first full Aerosmith album, I think this was pretty damn good. Obviously, I’m biased, but again, it’s a style that works for me. I know “Toys in the Attic” is the one with the classics, and I’ll be ready whenever we get that one, but I’m glad to get something from their comeback phase in here as a primer. Pretty easy 5 for me.
I've never been a huge Aerosmith fan. More of certain album type of guy. Love Rocks and Draw The Line and ignored a lot of it including this but man was I wrong. Pump is a classic that starts off strong and while there are weak songs even those aren't that bad. Ranks right up there with Rocks and has has now become one of my favorite Aerosmith albums.
Awesome
Good stuff but not yet the classic were all know and love
Loooooved this album. Such an iconic rock sound with the right amount of sleaze.
This album was F.I.N.E.
Heerlijke 5 sterren.
The aerosmith on this list is all killer no filler
O começo do auge... disco impecável.
I forget how much I love Aerosmith.

Fuck the haters, this is Aerosmith’s best! Back to back bangers. “Love In An Elevator” holds great memories for me. I do have a soft spot for this one - it’s a nostalgic, energetic, killer of a rock n roll album!
Great album. Released when I was in high school. this album was huge and a great tour. Very enjoyable listen.
Day406 - pump has four really great songs and what it takes is one of my favorites
Fantastisk album
4.5
What a great album. I haven't listened to this in a while, so it was great to come back to it a revisit. Definitely worth checking out. Fun songs and Steven Tyler's vocal delivery is top notch.
There goes my old girlfriend There's another diamond ring And all those late night promises I guess they don't mean a thing So baby, what's the story? Did you find another man? Is it easy to sleep in the bed that we made? When you don't look back I guess the feelings start to fade away I used to feel your fire But now it's cold inside And you're back on the street Like you didn't miss a beat, yeah! Tell me what it takes to let you go Tell me how the pain's supposed to go Tell me how it is that you can sleep in the night Without thinking you lost everything that was Good in your life to the toss of the dice? Tell me what it takes to let you go Great album. 5/5
Fun and energetic. Fave Songs 'What it Takes' and 'Love in an Elevator' 5/5
damn, pump is a really good album by aerosmith. i'm not sure where it stands in comparison to their other albums, but i found it thoroughly enjoyable. the songs were lots of fun! the lyrics were clever, and though there's some misogyny/objectification happening in "love in an elevator," i can't help but love all the clever lines. steven tyler, of course, came to the album with his signature vocals. pump is pure hard rock and shows aerosmith on point. if i'm being persnickety, i'd say this album is a 4.5, but i enjoyed it so much that it should be a 5.
continuing on our metal kick, yet ANOTHER hall-of-famer group! gosh... while last night's listen, i grew a mohawk, tonight it's swapped with a lush and volumized blonde set of hair. despite the big glam rock energy that persists throughout, the blues influence also has a heavy positive factor in making this album memorable. steven tyler's energetic voice is just the icing on the cake, and some of the lyrics dive a bit into heavy material that's worth civil discussion.
Every song is a toe tapper. Like this very much
Fun rockin 80s hair metal from great 70s rockers Aerosmith. Can see why this album solidified their comeback. Pretty awesome effort given they were in their 40s
Heard it a bunch of times on the radio and so I’m basically sick of these songs, but that doesn’t mean it’s not good. Glad to have listened to the whole album.
Aerosmith, with their more 'refined' sound of the late '80s. Layers upon layers of instrumentation (i.e., Love in an Elevator) plus that classic voice. And really, there are so many hits on this album it is like a greatest hits collection. If I were to pick a 'pop rock' album that defined this time period, this is it!
One of my favorite Aerosmith albums. Really enjoyed hearing it in its entirety again.
4.6
Album 260 of 1001 Aerosmith - Pump Rating : / 5 LEAST Favorite Track :
This album fucking rules. Very, very heavy instrumentals that pair with Tyler's voice perfectly. They do a much better job than expected incorporating different feels to their music as well. Definite rotation album. Favorite tracks: F.I.N.E., Dulcimer Stomp / The Other Side
One of the all time great albums.
There was a time when Aerosmith was famous for rock songs, not ballads.
mt bom ta loko
Nice listened to it twice!
One of the first CDs I owned was the Armageddon soundtrack my parents got me for Christmas. I hadn’t even seen the movie. The album was mostly Aerosmith or Aerosmith adjacent bands. Honestly didn’t expect this album to come up but it makes sense. This has all their second wave big hits. I will say though listening to this album in the head of January winter makes no sense. This is made for June driving.
What an awesome album. Aerosmith tend to be hit or miss for me, but pretty much all of these songs were hits. I couldn't get enough of it. Favorite track: F.I.N.E.
This album has tons of energy right from the first second of the first track. Lots of known hits, including "What it Takes", "Love in an Elevator", and "Janie's Got a Gun". "Young Lust" and "F.I.N.E." were nice surprises; love Aerosmith. 9/10.
Took me back to kid hood!
Classic album, classic cover. Right up there with my other favorite Aerosmith album, "Get a Grip." "Love in an Elevator," "Janie's Got a Gun," "The Other Side," and "What It Takes" are all greatest hits material—which is why they're all on "Big Ones."
A juggernaut of an album with some of my all-time favorites.
-"Young Lust" is homonymous with "Young Lust" by Pink Floyd. Also is is a super catchy, upbeat song to kick off the album -Intro to "F.I.N.E." almost sounds like heavy metal -I appreciate the dumb pun of "Going Down/Love In An Elevator -"My Girl" is another high-intensity track -The intro to "Don't Get Mad, Get Even" is a great thumping rhythm -Low voice jam at the end of "Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man" is very cool -A lot of songs with slashes in the titles -Great album with solid, catchy tracks, only two songs I didn't like super enjoy ("Water Song/Jamie's Got A Gun" and "What It Takes"). Probably a lower 5 but it is certainly way stronger than lots of 4's so I will give it the 5 stars
Todo un discazo de rock desde el inicio hasta el final. Con temas muy reconocidos y con gran pegada
Listening to this album after listening to and reviewing several other rock albums through this site has given me new appreciation for Aerosmith. I never really noticed how polished their sound is; it feels like every riff and backup vocal is done with purposeful precision. I also find the amount of layered vocals and almost rock opera-like key changes pleasantly surprising for the type of rock band Aerosmith is. Sure, a couple tracks aren't as great as the rest, but overall, this is a beautiful collection.
The album cuts are almost as good as the hits.
El mejor de Aerosmith, bastante energético.
This Aerosmith of the late 80s is the Aerosmith that I became a fan of (in the late 80s). So, for me, this is Aerosmith...and I love it!
I had this on cassette, I think. It was super fun to listen again after so many years and hear timeless lyrics like, "Even the Tipper thinks I'm all right." Super. Fun.
I knew and really liked several songs off this album. “F.I.N.E.” and “The Other Side” came to my attention several years ago on the Aerosmith Rockin’ Roller Coaster at Disney World. I love both - how unexpectedly cool is “The Dulcimer Stomp”?! - but “F.I.N.E” instantly became one of my favorites and is maybe my favorite on the album. “Going Down/Love In An Elevator” was a song you couldn’t miss from my college days. It still sounds as good as ever. And “Water Song/Janie’s Got a Gun” is such a classic! Really love this song. “What it Takes” rounds out the songs that I went in knowing. It’s great as well. As for the tracks that were new to me, “Young Lust” is really great Aerosmith. What an album opener! “Monkey On My Back” features some incredible groaning and screaming from Steven Tyler. I love this song. “My Girl” is a ton of fun. I love that after dulcimers they pulled out the didgeridoos for “Don’t Get Mad, Get Even”. Really appreciate these unique touches. “Hoodoo/Voodoo” keep the quality high on this album. This is such a great Aerosmith album. Filled with double-entendre (or single entendre) shenanigans that Aerosmith can do and still be totally endearing. Even though I’m 30 years late to this party it’s still rockin’ hard!
Fun listen
Brilliant
Aerosmith was my first favorite rock band and the nostalgia here is overwhelming. Did not know what FINE stood for until I read this article but makes more sense now as an adult. Love so many of these songs.
Great album, takes me back to the 90s
Some good classics in there
2021.11.25
Great rock album with massive radio songs, but not without some criticism for their loss of some credibility for turning to pop to resurrect their career.
Great rockanroll album. Too much energy
Aerosmith is one of the best. Don't think they have a song I won't listen to.
I couldn’t help but love this album! It’s like Aerosmith was challenged to write the greatest 80s inspired rock album and they said “hold my beer”. They take all of the best parts of 80s rock and incorporate it with their own vibe to make an incredibly varied and enjoyable album.
Best Aerosmith Album
80s rock executed to perfection , brilliant songs ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous in terms of subject but leaves me grinning ear to ear and singing along without fail and hey isn’t that what it’s supposed to do
Stone cold classic - had me grinning ear to ear as hadn’t listened right through in years and won’t leave it as long in the future
Great fun
I enjoy Aerosmith <3
toll
love it
Classic Aerosmith!
So many gems in that album. Loved the re-listen. Definitely from my youth.
I adore Aerosmith, they are probably my favorite classic rock band. Steven Tyler is such a G. This albums got a few hits. My favorite has to be Going Down/ Love In An Elevator.
Fun rock!
Back before Liv Tyler's dad started looking like my mom... solid.
Aerosmith was one of my first favorite bands as a kid. They have a ton of all time hits and a bunch of really good, maybe even great, records. This one is probably somewhere in my top 5? All of that being said, I don't knoew that they have one of the greatest albums of all time. Their hits have always been bigger than their albums. Anyway, 3.5 rounded up
Some great tunes on this one and even the non singles rock, you get what you pay for album
Love in an elevator, got me going big time….
*Pump* Definitely an album that suffers from 1989itis. I think a few of the big singles is what keeps me from dipping it below the four-star range. "Janie" and "What it Takes" are still perfect singles to me. And "The Other Side" is still a great energetic single, despite the fact every time I listen to it I keep on counting the splices in the production. The one album cut I truly dug was "Don't Get Mad, Get Even". The rest of the album is pretty much generic late '80s Stadium Fair . Strangely enough my favorite part of the album comes from probably my least favorite single "Love in an Elevator" and that is the harmony at the end of the song that is the acapella harmony gimmick they do at the very end of the song. I just wish it was attached to a better song (8.1) ★★★★
Fuck Aero choccies and The Smiths back-catalogue, I actually dig Aerosmith quite a lot now. Maybe not as outright classic as Toys In The Attic but it still really pumps. Love In An Elevator is an absolute whopper of a tune and Janie Got A Gun pretty awesome as well. Gets a bit choggier and less inspired in the second half but finishes strongly so overall this trucks in at a light 4 stars.
Prime Aerosmith. Good harmonies, fun interludes, and rowdy songs.
Świetna energetyczna płyta
Very pleasantly surprised by this album, not just about love in an elevator. Good songs, energy and certainly not dull. Will be giving it additional listens.
Highlights: Young Lust, F.I.N.E., Love In An Elevator, Monkey On My Back, Janie's Got A Gun, My Girl, Don't Get Mad Get Even, What It Takes Ain't no masterpiece, but it is a fun listen. That's something I've noticed to often be the case with Aerosmith. Amazing how low the stream numbers are on Spotify since I know for a fact I've heard a good number of the singles on the radio.
Aerosmith’s douchey / sleazy brand of rock isn’t my typical choice for casual listening, but I’d be kidding myself if I said I hated it. They were always genuine about what kind of band they were and lived rock and roll excess to the extreme. Even if this was after the worst of their drug addictions, it’s still steeped in excess, and it honestly slaps for the most part.
Sick. This was peak Aerosmith
I know people tend to not like the changes in Aerosmith’s sound when this album came out, but it’s still really enjoyable. Love in an Elevator may be way poppier than their earlier music, but it’s so good. This album flew by and never felt like a slog to get through, 600 albums in that’s a pretty good sign. Steven Tyler sings some freaky lyrics from time to time, but this is four stars in my book.
This album surprised me! I'm not really an Aerosmith fan, but I like this album. It's a solid rock album with a couple standout songs. I do wish "Dulcimer Stomp" was longer.
Love in an elevator, What it takes y Janie´s got a gun son dos joyas eternas. Young lust comienza como un tiro y F.I.N.E indica que se lo están pasando en grande durante la grabacion del disco. Sonido 100% Aerosmith y la inspiración brotando por sus surcos. The other side es otro buen ejemplo de rock Aerosmith.
I always want to like Aerosmith a little bit more than I truly do. This album starts off slow for me but I like the second half. 3.5 stars, will likely round up because I like it more than I don’t.
Best Track - "Janie's Got A Gun"
This is Aerosmith getting back to what they do best. Hard, poppy, funny rock. Their sense of humor never left, Steven Tyler still has the pipes, and they bring serious (“Janie’s Got a Gun”) and the fun (“Love in an Elevator”).
This was the first CD I purchased after getting a CD player in Jr. High. It's still a solid album and there are songs I really like, but the production sounds dated. I appreciate the experimentation they did with the instrumental interludes and use of dulcimer.
Gran sorpresa…a pesar de estar atrapado en el hair metal ochentero tiene ondas experimentales que no me esperaba…y sus power balads son grandes.
A lot of great songs on this one, with the classic Aerosmith sound that is tried and true. Highlights: "Love in an Elevator", "The Other Side", and "What It Takes"
FINE
Great, really fun album. Good for car rides with certain vibe
gran disco, no conocia casi ningun tema y me parecio excelente
Just an alright album other than Janie’s got a gun
Classic rock songs. Enjoyed Jeannie's got a Gun
Threw this one on and thought immediate 2 but then zoned out on it and before I knew it we were at a 4. Still kinda hate it though.
Gotta go 4 for the hits. Really like the production on guitar sounds, too.
Pretty good, Slash can certain tickle the strings
At first I was irritated that this album was in the list. Aerosmith literally had two “classic” albums released before this, how could this be their most influential. After listening to it, I still feel that way, but damn if it isn’t a great listen. I might just be an Aerosmith fan.
Some of this doesn’t hold up lyrically, but the album has good energy and Janie’s Got a Gun is even better than I remembered.
Love it.
Don't get in an elevator with that guy
Great, high energy music.
Levyn isoimmat hitit Love in an Elevator, Janie's Got a Gun sekä The Other Side olivat jo entuudestaan tuttuja, mutta mukaan on sisällytetty myös vähemmän tunnettuja, laadukkaita raitoja. Vaikka Pump ei ole mitään suurta taidetta, se osoitti että Aerosmith kykeni yhä tekemään hyvää musiikkia vielä 15 vuotta läpimurtonsa jälkeen.
I really liked this…thought there wasn’t a bad track on the record. It really surprised me. 4 stars.
I don't like an AMERICAN ROCK🤘🏼🇺🇲
If you don't like this album then you probably don't like Aerosmith, one of the greatest butt rock hair bands. Yes, they are kind of cheezey and sleazy but they know how to rock and roll. This is probably the pinnacle of Aerosmith's career. I've heard Love in an Elevator so many times that I get motion sickness when I hear it. Janie's Got a Gun, The Other Side, My Girl, Voodoo Medicine Man, and What It Takes are my favorites on this album. I'm not an especially big fan, but Stephen Tyler & Joe Perry have a talent for writing really catchy, big energy, rock songs (at least on this album and Permanent Vacation). I like that this is a nice short 10 song album. It's a good ride from veterans at the top of their game.
A good reminder what a good vocalist Steven Tyler is. Album rocks from start to finish with almost no filler.
Gut
Solid hard rock. One of those albums that you know what they sound like before hearing the first track on side one. You don't? OK. A slightly watered down version of Aerosmith during their salad days of the mid 1970s- Rocks (the album) this is not but enough riffs and double entendres to keep the lap dances going into the wee hours.
Oh hey I have a tshirt of this album cover. Love in an Elevator is a banger.
I was never a huge Aerosmith fan back in the day. They were always on the radio, always loud, always a little larger-than-life in a way I didn’t fully connect with. Listening to it today feels a little different. It is like a time capsule that got cracked open. I enjoyed it a little more, but I think it is just the memories I had forgotten about. It was good to hear these songs again.
"Don't get mad, get even" kinda lost me. But other than that, is this the greatest Aerosmith album?? They've always been a great rock band that really leans into their bluesy roots (not going to acknowledge the late late years) but this was stellar front to back. 4.5/5
Hell yeah
Generally not a fan of 80's Aerosmith. Do not like Janie's Got A Gun, and I think Love in an Elevator is stupid. But there is good stuff here. I like the songs that aren't hits. But don't know if I really need to hear this before I die. Toys in the Attic? Absolutely. Pump, not so much. I'm gonna give it a four though, cuz it is a solid album. 4
Very nice
Good road trip album
2/19 Classic album. Love in an Elevator, Janie's Got a Gun, and The Other Side are bangers.
Water Song/Janie's Got a Gun was such a throwback!! I quite enjoyed this album, especially compared to some others on this list
Não estava à espera de gostar tanto do álbum, visto que os Aerosmith nunca foram muito a minha cena. O mesmo posso dizer do hard rock, mas gostei. Foi uma boa surpresa.
This is objectively a totally fun, entertaining album that is better than average, hence the 4 stars. I will probably not come back to it because it’s not my vibe, but I do enjoy it enough to recognize its quality.
Yep, pretty much all of these songs are about pumping.
Isn’t it odd that Aerosmith to my generation would be classic rock… but now, to my kids , a band like Nirvana is classic rock. This record is all sorts of nostalgia for me. My parents owned this record when I was growing up and it made it into the Sunday cleaning playlist. I think I know every song in this record. I’ve always been impressed with Steven Tyler. His voice is one of those voices in music that will be recognized until the end of days. He knows how to write hooks too. Every song has incredible hooks. His melodies are great. Joe Perry has great tone and his riffs are great, All around a great band. Despite some lyrics being really bad… this band gets a bit of a pass on that for me.
Aerosmith are very good at adapting to their surroundings and here we have their 80s version in full on sleaze, tongue in cheek, ball breaking vocals mode. It is very much of the time and feels dated but is packed full of great songs including Janie’s Got A Gun and The Other Side which are my favourites.
Bra trøkk
Fondly remembered album. Some big hits on there.
This will be the fifth album from my aunt's CD collection. As someone from Massachusetts, I consider Aerosmith one of the most recognizable acts from my home state. The "Bad Boys from Boston" have been at it for five decades now, though there are two distinct periods when the band were their most successful - their 1970s run and their resurgence from the late 1980s into the early 1990s. Pump is from the latter of those periods, as they sought to explore a more raw edge in their sound compared to the commercial polish of Permanent Vacation. I don't think there's any doubt that the album is one of the best-selling records Aerosmith put out, but how does it hold up? Well, I generally enjoy the pivot towards glam metal and heavier blues rock that Aerosmith employed during this period. The first half pretty much epitomized the sound, as Steven Tyler howled behind the mic, all the while Joe Perry and Brad Whitford traded potent guitar licks, and the rhythm section of Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer kept these compositions biting. Tracks like "Young Lust", "F.I.N.E.", and "Love in an Elevator" are the sexually-explicit affairs expected from the group at the time. Though they did balance them out with more socially conscious songs about child abuse in "Janie's Got a Gun", drug abuse in "Monkey on My Back", and even mankind's devastation on the Earth in "Voodoo Medicine Man". My one complaint with this record is with the interludes done in collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Randy Raine-Reusch. It's not that they were badly played so much as they felt incongruent with the rest of the record. In particular, "Dulcimer Stomp", "Hoodoo", and the hidden track at the end of "What It Takes" not only do not match the tone of the song they're respectively attached to, but come off at best as pastiches of folk and world music that don't sit well with me. If they had gone with the single edits of these songs instead, this would have been a slam dunk in my eyes. Nevertheless, I had a good time with Pump, and I look forward to the other Aerosmith records on this album journey.
This is the more commercial Aerosmith, but this is a lot of good energy and good tunes, with Tyler giving DLR good competition.
I feel like Aerosmith are my guilty pleasure
Some real gems on here. Listening to this instantly transported me back to being babysat in the 90s by my older cousins (especially remember being terrified in the back of their cars with Aerosmith blaring).
I really don’t understand the hate Aerosmith gets. A bunch of the critiques mentions their songs about sex. Okay. Have you listened to modern rap music? We don’t complain about that. What’s the difference? Not much other than Aerosmith doesn’t do it in a disgusting or vulgar way. It’s fun. It’s cliche yet enjoyable. It’s not difficult music to listen to. Tyler has an iconic rock and roll voice.
Solid
Janie's got a gun is such a catchy song for me. Aerosmith feels a little kitchy compared to the grungy rock and metal bands that would follow, but I just had a lot of fun with most of these songs!
It’s hard to hear this album the same way knowing what we know now, but I try not to let the artists personal life change the ratings
Upbeat album. Lot of energy.
I've heard Aerosmith songs over the years but never listened to a full album before. Overall a good rock album with decent music and strong vocals. I don't know this would make Aerosmith a favourite for me but I won't avoid their albums as I might have done in the past (not ignored for any rational or logical reason though).
I guess I missed the lyric "I get an EMHO woody when I sit in the seat." at age 11. I did no what rubbers were. It's Aerosmith at the too of their post-Sober Comeback game. But pre-Armageddon schlock. It's fun , it rocks.
pretty good! hate Janie's got a gun. always have. was so overdone when it came out, i could never recover. good solid album though
A good album, I liked F.I.N.E, My Girl and Don't Get Mad Get Even the most.
I thought this was pretty awesome. A hair away from a 5 actually. Aerosmith from this era comes off a bit too campy/silly to me sometimes. I’m not sure what that is actually - I’m a big fan of AC/DC, The Darkness,…. Campy stuff! Maybe the constant classic rock radio play wore the shine off? Anyway this is good and I would listen to this pretty much anytime.
- Of course there's a highbrow, critical part of my brain that hears this and sneers at the basic Zeppelin-lite riffs and cheap, shallow innuendos of a group of 40-year-old men. - However, there's another, arguably larger part of that same brain that hears 𝙇𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣 𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙤𝙤𝙤𝙤𝙤𝙤𝙤𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙧 and just wants to rock out. - Three Aerosmith albums is almost definitely excessive but I've sat here again and enjoyed a number of deeper cuts that I'd never had heard before and I feel happier for it. I gotta go with my gut here.
I liked this a lot more than Rocks. Lyrics were better I thought, and the songs felt a little more varied, a little more layered/complex musically speaking. Overall really solid and I liked.
No complaints about Aerosmith
Sophomore year of high school, right here.
Honestly, better than I expected.
Solid album with a lot of variety! Personal favorites were "Going Down/Love In An Elevator", "Dulcimer Stomp/The Other Side", and "What It Takes" (great album closer!)
Favourite Track: What it Takes
It doesn't get much more Aerosmith than this. This is the kind of album that gets you incessant radio play for the next 35 years. This is the kind of album that gets you a fucking Roller Coaster. (But it’s no Honkin’ on Bobo)
Really solid Aerosmith album. It’s very true to their sound and if I was introducing someone to Aerosmith I’d play this album. Fav Song: Take me to the other side
- It's a rocker ..... -
aerosmith im 2. frühling, guter alter r‘n‘r.
Tracks to Track: Water Song/Janie's Got A Gun
Solid album. Plenty hits.
It might not be their best album, but it’s a solid rock album with several classic songs and not much filler. Lyrics are questionable, but I’ll forgive that. Very good! 4/5
Classic rock , well made and produced , enjoyed immensely and was much better than I had anticipated
Great album! It made me like Aerosmith.
Excellent hooks, premium vocals, and ripping guitar. I see the negativity towards hair metal, I’m a doubter myself when it comes to the genre. However, Aerosmith were experts and their talent and knack for flair elevate the genre past its inability to see through its blond locks. This album exhibits excellent production and a myriad of instruments. While the lyrics suffer a bit, the tunes are powerful and make the saddest soul want to belt out the chorus’.
Lekker album toch wel goede muziek gemaakt.
I thought his was a really strong album. So many good songs on it that just jam and Steven Tyler sounds great.
I had thought that an album like this coming out when it did would be a soulless attempt by an artist to stay relevant. But the truth is this album rocks with a ton of heart
Great record. I think this is my favorite Aerosmith album.
Aerosmith's catalog is, without a doubt, wildly uneven. From the stellar early works to the absolutely dismal "Rock in a Hard Place" and back to the blockbuster hit machine of the 90's, the band had endured and found a way to stay relevant until time finally caught up to them in the 21st century and relegated Aerosmith to "Legacy Act" status. "Pump" has some brilliant moments and even the deeper album tracks have some sparkle that was missing from their mid-career slump. I personally prefer the prior album, "Permanent Vacation", when the reunion of Steven Tyler and Joe Perry was fresh and their post-rehab clarity sparked a creative resurgence. This album still has an undeniable quality and hits like "Love in an Elevator" and "Janie's Got a Gun" received massive radio and MTV airplay. Tyler's sexual innuendo and double-entendres once again come across as clever, while the songwriting, musicianship, and production hit a high mark. Best of all, the album just rocks. Their next albums after this lean much harder into radio-friendliness and lack the edgy energy that the "Toxic Twins" wrote into the music here. Give an added half-star for the fact that the fight that originally ended the Perry-Tyler partnership happened right here in Cleveland, Ohio. The backstage scene at the (in)famous 1979 "World Series of Rock" festival at Cleveland Municipal Stadium must have been a scene straight out of "Spinal Tap."
Sometimes I think I maybe slept on Aerosmith. This was quite enjoyable.
not bad at all. Haven't listened to Janie's got a gun in a while that song is pretty good.
Really good classic rock album
Pretty good example of it’s type
Fun and uplifting.
Dope
Great
Unfortunately this is a good album, low 4
I love how this album attracts the most polarized reviews – from one-star one-liner putdowns ("Dump by Aerosmith", "Gross", "band should’ve died with the ’70s") to full-on five-star worship. I wish there were some kind of stats here showing the rating distribution – it would probably be one of the starkest in the whole project. For me, it’s a solid 4/5 because their next one, Get a Grip (1993), still reigns supreme. Standout track: Janie's Got a Gun (and I've always wondered if they were nodding to Def Leppard's Billy's Got a Gun)
fun late 80's rock. All you need! Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man containing the lyrics "masturbating with a noose" really sold it for me. It made me wonder, is Buckcherry just an evolved Aerosmith? Anyway if you want 45 minutes of just fun rock with tons of sexual overtones and living fast, then Aerosmith has your number on this one.
Surprised how much I enjoyed this album. The Toxic Twins could write a kickass rock song! Love In An Elevator is great, loved how weird Hoodoo Vodoo was was, Dulcimer Stomp was very Led Zeppeliny. Yeah overall this was a fun album with an iconic album cover
Plutôt cool
Ça c'est pas de la musique de tapette 🤟🤟🤟🗣🗣🗣🎸🎸🎸
This is a fun album. There's something to be said about an act that doesn't take themselves too seriously, and doubly so when they are genuinely talented. Good vocals, good guitar work, good times, and great garage beer jams.
Quite enjoyable indeed
Sleazy but fun. Many of these tracks sound like homages to 50s blues or the Beatles and that’s all right with me. Of the songs I hadn’t heard before my favorite was “The Other Side”. I often find Steven Tyler to be annoying but his voice truly shined in “What it Takes”.
Fantastic Aerosmith!! Classic
Can't complain too much about Aerosmith. This album was HUGE when it came out and to be fair, it's one of their best if not the best from the 80's. Good blues rock about sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. 3.5 / 5 stars
Surprisingly great. Close to 5*
Fun rock n roll! Steven Tyler’s voice isn’t my favorite, but he uses it to its best here.
I listened to this for most of the day, very inoffensive
Pump is my fave Aerosmith record. There are better Aerosmith songs on other records (although What It Takes is probably one of my all time faves of theirs), but this is the first one I think I ever heard. I think I was like 12 and just starting to really get into music, and so there’s this nostalgic connection I have to this record. And it’s one of their more solid efforts as a complete record. I dunno, Pump isn’t technically their best record, but it’s my favorite of theirs. 4.5/5
Siempre estará presente
Good ol rock music. Some classics, good beats. Maybe not the most hits but a good solid album
I’m kinda shocked. I liked this a lot. Catchy, upbeat and fun. I thought they had sold out, maybe they did but I slept on this. I’m giving it 4 stars and I’m gonna listen to it again.
Классный альбом классического рока
Good rock record
This album is practically a singing erection.
Is what it says on the tin, Aerosmith do their thing and do it well. Sometimes you don’t want anything particularly intellectual, just some good old fashioned rock. And Love in an Elevator is a ripper.
Brilliant showcase of their style and influences. True rock and roll, which elements of blues and country front and centre, alongside the heavy guitars and incredible drum sound. A couple of classics on here like Love in an elevator and Janie's got a gun but some others I was pleased to discover. This will be worth revisiting, although I don't expect it will be any time soon.
Found this another tricky one to rate. Ultimately I have gone for a 4 star. Some crackers on here, particular favourites being Janie's Got a Gun, The Other Side and What It Takes. There is some filler in my view. Great combination of Aerosmith's early blues with the more hard rock and glam rock. I was in between 3 and 4 star possibly because I prefer their more bluesy early stuff from their self titled album, Get Your Wings and Toys in the Attic. I suspect they will be somewhere in this list.
Solid mixture of rock through this
Solid album. Not much my cup of tea, despite usually being a fan of this type of stuff.
Surprised that I love this. Steven Tyler might be a cheat code at frontman and the lyrics are great. I could do without one or two tracks, though.
pretty fun
Sounds pretty modern, I LIKE
Nice album good couple of songs, others are a bit less enjoyable but still not bad.
Cool 80s rock
Pas encore réécouté...depuis des années
😎
Parhaat: Going Down/Love In the Elevator, Water Song/Janies Got A Gun
