***** Another classic Album!

low-key really liked this one

Pre-listening thoughts: I'm really confused why we need ANY Aerosmith albums, let alone 3. But whatever, it could be worse I guess. Post/during listening thoughts: hey wait... this was kind of good... I'm not happy that I enjoyed this. This was literally like the most juvenile lyrical subject matter ever. It's all just like "hehe get it cause SEX". But damn it, it's set to some really catchy tunes. Love in an Elevator is so fucking fire I cannot get it out of my head. Anyways oopsie giving this a 7.5/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: nah Fav tracks: Going Down/Love in an Elevator, Water Song/Janie's Got a Gun, What It Takes Least fav tracks: n/a

Janie’s Got a Gun is one of the best songs of the 80s. What it Takes is also a great song that just builds and is so satisfying. The other songs are good…….not great. Overall, a very enjoyable album.

Goddamn Aerosmith is so stupid, but this is another example of what I wish AC/DC sounded like. 2 trucks humping and named Pump... amazingly stupid. The first two tracks are creepy as hell and so dumb. Great. I like that hit on here - all chorus no verses, great idea again mr smith. Anyway's feeling a positive light 4 on it. Not expecting this to be popular with the class

Now firmly back in the saddle, Aerosmith wanted to pump some realism into their repertoire and this album was the result of that vision. Looking to be a part of, while at the same time be ahead of, the rollicking glam metal pack that had dominated the latter part of the 80s, the vets not only succeed at stamping their place, they largely do so with finesse and a dose of lived in mechanisms. As ubiquitous as some songs may be, they still pack a punch after all this time and the others look to be rediscovered anew for awaiting listeners. Pump up the jams? Aerosmith can do that in spades. Favorites: F.I.N.E., Going Down/Love in an Elevator, Water Song/Janie's Got a Gun, Dulcimer Stomp/The Other Side, Don't Get Mad, Get Even, Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man.

How did I know this was the album with Love in an Elevator without hearing the album before? I know some people (my husband) HATE Aerosmith but I think the songs are catchy and I’m a fan of Joe Perry’s guitar work.

Solid album that gives you everything you would expect from Aerosmith. Rounding up to a 4 here, albeit barely. 3.5

Listened to this in the gym a few weeks ago and forgot to rate it. Think my feeling was that I'd like to listen to more Aerosmith in the future, haven't given them much of a chance before.

this is perhaps the best aerosmith album

They were really horny when they made this one

Wow sexual, but Steven Tyler has some pipes.

Аэросмит > ролинг стоунс

Bought this when it came out and it still holds up.

Good album! Lots of classic Aerosmith songs! I was impressed with how the whole album really was pretty good, Aerosmith are pretty hot or miss for me but this was good!

Singer has a great voice really GOING DOOOOWN Song 3, really cool so far Sick alb

Favorite songs: Going Down/Love in an Elevator, Water Song/Janie's Got a Gun, Young Lust, F.I.N.E., Dulcimer Stomp/The Other Side, Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man Least favorite songs: "Don't Get Mad, Get Even" 4/5

I didn't mind this album too much, despite it not being my cup of tea. It is not the usual plodding tub thumping rock you would expect from this period. A bit tongue in cheek and silly in places but infinitely better the Metallica etc...

Esta guapo

Excellent rock album.

why was the hardwear on the same floor as children's wear and lady's lingerie? (do men have lingerie?) Good Morning Mr Tyler

The album definitely improves starting with Janie's Got A Gun. 4 stars or B-.

I do like Aerosmith, and it's kind of entertaining to listen to some of this music that's a window to a not-so-distant past where rock groups could croon lyrics that would never fly today.

Unapologetic fave in the dad rock while garage workin genre

Hot take: Janie's Got a Gun is overrated. I don't think it's that good a song. I'm also not really loving the double tracks, or the songs that have the "/" in them. Let me listen to one song at a time if I want lol. That's a minor complaint, though. I'm not sure why, but the lyricism of Aerosmith was not something that was in my book. I'm genuinely impressed at the lyrics that I'm catching in these songs. And a lot of them are really clever too. You can tell that this is a later album from a well-established band. They have a sweet spot that they really know how to hit, but they also aren't afraid to try out some new sounds or do some things a little differently. The songs that aren't their bread and butter are honestly pretty good too. I'm a bit torn on how to rate it, because I think it does a lot of stuff well, and a couple of things great, but it never really feels like a great album, if that makes sense. Favorite Song(s): Love in an Elevator, The Other Side, Don't Get Mad, Get Even

I didn't want to like this, but the sound is so big and energetic and fun. -1 for allegedly too much fun.

cool though it feels like i'm intruding on something steve tyler probably likes that though

Better than it should have been

Not the biggest Aerosmith fan but respect where it’s due. Dude has pipes

This is pretty darn close to perfection! 4.75 stars!

Eh it was fun, I liked it

Fun album to jam to, not something I listen to daily but it might get put into the mix.

Strong start but kind of peters out towards the end. Aerosmith is hard to rate because they write undeniably catchy songs with kick-ass guitar parts, but the lyrics can be so sleazy and gross. Like "Love in an Elevator" would be an infinitely better song if it wasn't about shagging in the lift, but it is what is I guess. Overall quite a fun listen

83% Best: Young Lust; Love in an Elevator; Janie's Got a Gun Must-Hear? Sure

I haven’t listened to Aerosmith much since I was about 12 or 13. Musically they are great, I love the bluesy hard rocking sound that this album emanates. Yeah, the lyrics are questionable and the innuendos are evident now that I’m older. Being the 10th album by Aerosmith is also quite the feat to put out something to rival the hair metal scene at the time, but yet still keep a bluesy twist on it.

Nosiłam drewno na działce kiedy tego słuchałam i dostałam epic pump Takiego rocka wlanie chce

I’ve never considered myself a huge Aerosmith or Steven Tyler fan. That being said, I might be. 4.0

>> The Beatles

You know, the reviews for this album here are fucking brutal. I mean, I know Steven Tyler sounds like a cheetah in heat, but he’s not that bad. Or is it a cheetah dying? I don’t know, I never watched Animal Planet. Seriously though, while Aerosmith is far from my favorite band, there’s worse shit on this project. I’ll admit, Pump is a weird album to label as a “must hear”. I figured that they would pick either Rocks or Toys in the Attic, which are both probably on this project (or they are not, in which case I’m an idiot). I understand it was important for their comeback, but it’s far from their best. But that being said, I had a really good time with this one. It’s hard rock junk food with a lot of libido. Try to picture that mental image. Loud, bombastic, and well, horny, it’s a nice break back to my comfort zone. Favorite track: Jamie’s Got A Gun Other hits: Love In A Elevator, Young Lust, F.I.N.E., Monkey On My Back, Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man, What It Takes

YES! 4

I was surprised how clean this is, production wise. I always figured that Aerosmith was really raw and abrasive, but it doesn't seem that way. It's pretty good. I won't listen to it often but it's got an undeniable charm.

Butt rock about fuckin. Some of the best to ever do that.

Another day and another Aerosmith album. At least, this is among their best.

I enjoy this album but I am biased. I was 10 years old when this came out and played this album on repeat that summer. Aerosmith was always a unique band back then and now and there has never been another band that has sounded like them before or since. For that alone they deserve some praise. Like them or not, you know Aerosmith when you hear Aerosmith. Their band was their brand and they did it well. All the members are talented musicians who know their craft well. The lyrics are all overly sexualized which dates the songs very much but that was the 80’s. All the songs are unique and are produced, played, and recorded with talent. It’s up to the listener on whether they enjoy them or not. I do. They’re fun and memorable.

Teenage memories again 😂 So far my teenage listening has turned out to be a mixed bag from the sublime Pink Floyd to the ridiculous Megadeath 😁 Somethings don't date Hot Buttered Soul, somethings become grown men singing about women in ways that are not appropriate. Funny how distance changes ones perspective on events, "oh Mr Tyler going down" and then Jamie's got a gun pops up! You could have done so much more Music ***** Vocals ***** Lyrics* Ps I was a big fan in the day and saw them live

Pretty good - some great tunes and no obvious duds

Aerosmith was my first concert in 86. It was the "Done with Mirrors" tour, a comeback album released to allow them to do a reunion tour. A very forgettable album, but the start of their late 80s/early 90s reign. You know you're old when this still feels like the new Aerosmith sound! I remember thinking the drums were too loud on some of these songs, but most of this album is brilliant for a band that was down and out and needed something to be successful.

So many pearl clutching reviews about this disgusting horny band and album. It must not have been too bad because the majority of the album was (and still is) played on heavy rotation. Aerosmith is a solid blues rock band who made extremely successful pop crossovers mid career. I’m not a fan but Pump is a great record.

Great listen, I have not listed to many Aerosmith songs, let alone a whole album. I see now why Guitar Hero made a whole game just on this band's songs. Listening to the album as a whole, it doesn't seem like a single song drags. And all tracks have an implied feeling of being driven forward without stopping almost like a train.

It's Aerosmith. I didn't realize some of those songs had such interesting intros to them, as I'd only heard them on the radio.

Favorite Track: Water Song/Janie's Got A Gun

Big riffs, big energy. It’s got that bluesy grit but still polished enough to catch your ear. The hooks are catchy without trying too hard, and the whole thing moves fast. 3 pretty big singles from my youth bump this to a 4.

Never heard this album, also never been a huge Aerosmith fan, but something about just good ole fashioned rock n roll has been connecting with me lately. The sexual innuendos on this album are so fucking stupid it's amazing. Love in an Elevator is so great. Also Steven Tyler's voice is cartoony as hell, but so good. Yeah I'm really surprised how much I liked this, good album. Lots of good riffs and cool harmonies.

As someone who was around junior high when this came out and the band instantly labeled as a junior high band, I kinda get it. The lyrics are pretty juvenile but listening to it now the music is surprisingly complex. Decent album. The double entendres aside.or maybe because of them?

Classic Steven Tyler.

Liked it more than I thought I would

Actually really fun from start to finish. Some great hits. Some really good b sides. Will definitely listen again

Steven tyler is Very horny and sexual but a classic rock album nonetheless.

This was a nice blast from the past. I like the three heavy hits, and the rest plays well too. “Elevator” has always been one of my favs from that time. Went down the rabbit hole and revisited some of those iconic videos from the 90’s too. Aerosmith is one of this bands that has always stood on their own and been able to reinvent themselves to fit in across many changes in popular music.

Revisiting this completely surprised me. Not just the hits, which arguably are not even their top ones, but some of the other tracks too. An overall fun listen, this is a really tough rockin’ album. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are one of the best rocking duos, and that dynamic continues to shine here. At a time when the rock/hard rock/pop landscape was trying to define itself with bands like Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Poison, etc. Aerosmith separated themselves and continues to hold one of the top positions. Just good ol’ rock n roll.

Man, I take for granted just how great Aerosmith is…are? 🤷‍♂️ They represent everything you want in a rock band. They’ve been doing it for so long and stayed relevant over 50+ years with huge cultural moments across decades. Steven Tyler looks like your grandma, will steal your GF and makes up half of one of the best rock duos of all time with Joe Perry. This album is solid and prob not even one of their best. Are…are those trucks going doggie style?

I forget how many hits Aerosmith had…and these aren’t even the big ones. Yes, the corny over-sexualized lyrics get a bit old, but this is just too much fun not to bump the rating up. And I totally forgot about the last song, What it Takes, and that put it over the edge for me. 3.75/5

really solid album. aerosmith is kinda in that category of ‘won’t turn off, but won’t turn on’ but i can see myself revisiting this at some point

I loved it when it came out. Still great, but has faded in my opinion, over time.

Steve Tyler took a look at Mick Jagger and thought, "you know what? He's just not PRIAPIC enough. Must try harder." Actually enjoyed this one a lot more than Toys in the Attic. It's straightforward rock but they seem to have found their own style by 1989, rather than just trying to be Led Zeppelin.

No surprises here, probably their most known album.

This is #day90 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and... don't you know, pump it up? Oh, wait, that's from another dimension. While Aerosmith's influence was cemented in the '70s, their mid-to-late '80s albums, especially Permanent Vacation and Pump, define the band just as much, if not more. Pump is one of my favorite Aerosmith records. It's packed with gems. From the opening riffs of "Young Lust" to the raw energy of "F.I.N.E.," the anthemic "Love in an Elevator," the funky "Janie's Got a Gun," to the emotional closer, "What It Takes," this album is arguably the band's most consistent effort. It might be their most polished one, but it still rocks and is always a joy to listen to. I'm giving it a 4 out of 5. Looking forward to #day91.

It certainly seems inevitable that there'd be some Aerosmith lurking in this collection, and given the number of hit singles on this album, "Pump" seems pretty logical (although I wish I hadn't noticed that there are 3 Aerosmith albums in the project; that pretty much exceeds my Aerosmith saturation point by a factor of two). This is a solid album, especially for those who enjoy their style and Tyler and company's pretty distinctive style, and all those radio hits elevate this from 3 to 4 stars, I'd say. And despite some really dated and cringeworthy videos, it's also impressive how well Aerosmith pivoted from their classic hard rock sound to a more glam-rock focus. No awards for interesting music or lyrics, sadly--and I'm not even sure you can make an exception for "Janie's got a gun", although that's probably the closest we'll get to social commentary from them--but I'm not sure anyone really expects that from Aerosmith, especially on their 10th studio album....

Pretty jam packed with classics. Going Down….. 4/5

ooohhh... Herligt... dejligt og sikke en samling af deres absolut bedste sange.

This was the first Aerosmith album I liked when I was a kid, and it still holds up today music wise. I enjoyed going down the memory lane trip, rocking out, and singing along. There are just so many catchy bangers on this album. The only reason this gets a 4 and not a 5, is because there are still some songs that are just okay. Also I can’t deny I didn’t think about the problematic side of Aerosmith, in particular Steven Tyler, while listening. That definitely brought the experience down a bit as well.

I shouldn't live this album - but as a man of a certain age I just remember hearing so many of these songs when I was younger. To be perfectly honest, it does exactly what is meant to do - sleazy pop/rock of the highest order. I mean, it's Aerosmith. No one is expecting a 10 minute Jazz Odyssey. Best Tracks: Young Lust; Love in an Elevator; What it Takes

This album was towards the end of Aerosmith’s life as a respectable band, but there was still gas in the tank. A lot to like here. I was probably 10 when I saw the video for Janie’s Got a Gun. Changed my life. It may be cheesy, but I like it.

Very nice album. Harder than the Aerosmith I'm used to but it somehow works very well? Also a very unusual mix between your average MTV themes and and your louder metal ethos, but somehow that worked for me as well! Solid 8.25 / 10.

Alright! Some Aerosmith! I don't think I've had a singe Aerosmith album this whole time! That's so sad about his throat injury :/ ohhhh Goin Down/Love In An Elevator is on this album. Never heard that intro before lol. hm Janies's got a gun too. 4

Came out my senior year in high school. Such a great album that provided hours of listening to me and my friends.

Raw, kinda bluesy rock

Good album

A lot more electric than expected from such a later album in the band's career.

A lot of hits on this album. It's very over the top and I enjoyed it for that reason. Of the 3 Aerosmith albums I got, this was the one I enjoyed the most.

Maybe but Aerosmith's most popular albums but still one I really enjoyed. I'm not too familiar with the band and this left a great impression.

Idk what it says about me when I didnt think it was outrageously horny. Like the music, always had a soft spot for Aerosmith.

Well polished album by classic arena rockers that combines tight playing, catchy pop melodies and songwriting, radio hits, and an aggressive sound that is even parts pop and sleazy guitar driven rock and roll.

I wanted to hate that album since I never liked Aerosmith that much when they were used to torture my ears in the public radio. And when the first tracks started I felt I was right. However, with the following tracks this album really got it going. It's fun, it pumps.

Rated this a weak 4 mostly on the basis of "Love in an Elevator" which in IMHO is one of the greatest Aerosmith songs ever. The rest of the album rocks pretty hard in sections but overall they are not breaking any new musical ground here...

Aged well

Fuck all the haters

Love aerosmith and this album is great.

Pretty standard stuff from Aerosmith. I like it but it doesn't rock my world either.

Great albums, lots of great tunes but tails off a little towards the end.

Man Aerosmith just gets it ya know? Always a blast, fun rock

3.6/5 listened 4x

I hadn't listened to this in a long time, and probably won't relisten to it anytime soon, but it has some really catchy tunes. Surprisingly so. They were still fun to listen to.

This album was such a big part of my living Sydney for a couple of years and still reminds me of people (ok, person) and places. Saw the last concert of the 2 year Pump tour in Sydney and it was terrible though - they were so burnt out. But otherwise great memories.

Really good choice for a morning run with it's high energy, simple beat structure, Steven Tyler screaming in my ear, and a couple hits to sing along to. First half or so of the album feels very much the same, then Janie's Got a Gun starts and it turns the corner into a bit more variety. Steven Tyler should definitely be dead already cause I think he did dumpster loads of cocaine, which naturally means he will probably live to be like 93. Honestly, this felt like the poster child for American classic rock at the beginning which would have been a square 3, but as the album continued it just got better and better.

Gaht damn Aerosmith knows how to make some catchy ass hits. Sometimes they can be extremely corny but other times they absolutely rock. Janie's Got a Gun is an all time classic, and to end the album on What it Takes which is a great sing along song, is a great move. Used to listen to Aerosmith all the time when I was younger but they have massively fallen off my radar. Don't think they will ever be my first choice listen, when they come up though I am listening.

Surprisingly brilliant album.

I wasn't expecting to enjoy this. Classic rock and roll

Fun album with a few big hits. The album as a whole flows but if you aren't intimate with every song, it can kinda bleed together since most of the songs have the same feel/production/sound. Really is a staple of that boogie rock with a pseudo punk ethos.

Favourite tracks: young lust; don't get mad get even; love in an elevator; Janie's got a gun

Solid rock album. Stehan Tyler has an amazing voice. I love the use of horns/strings/etc. Plus a few really great songs: Love in an Elevator, Janie's Got a Gun, What it Takes.

Great album, I liked it a lot. It doesn't try anything new, but it somehow still goes hard.

A few anthems on there.

Not gonna lie, I was ready to go in and talk shit about this, but man that first track hit me like a hurricane, shit goes so hard immediately. Why is this so good? This should not be so good.

Like a lot of bands on this list, I’ve had a prejudice against Aerosmith. But like this project has done many times before, my prejudices and prior dispositions have been challenged and often proven unfair or incorrect. I was ready to hate this album. I’ve always seen Steven Tyler as a parody of himself (not to mention the allegations against him), I’ve never much liked what the 80’s did to great 70’s bands, and I’ve never quite liked most 80’s music in general. But this was fun. Nothing earth shattering lyrics-wise, but no one ever called Aerosmith poetic. The music though? It’s a party and we’re all invited. Hard rocking guitars, not too many layers and great vocals from Tyler. I look at this as a great representation of Aerosmith as a band, of peak 80’s hard rock, and as an example of just how wrong I can be with my prejudices sometimes. Was this smart rock? No. Was this fun rock? Yes. And fun is fun. 4 stars. Standout tracks: Young Lust, Going Down/Love in an Elevator, Monkey on My Back, Water Song/Janie’s Got a Gun, My Girl

Classic Aerosmith tunes

Great Aerosmith

Very cool glam rock sound with lots of diversity. Tyler’s vocals are killer.

They know what they're doing. And it kinda rocks

Sometimes you pump. Sometimes you get pumped.

a solid rock album

Kind of strangely good hard rock at the end of the hair-metal era. Peak Stephen Tyler, I'm not a huge fan, but tons of respect for the voice. Smarter than average but with some cheesiness (which is not the worst thing in the world - a sense of humor is always welcome). Enjoyable overall. For me the big winner is the whole second side of the album, notably Hoodoo Voodoo/Medicine Man, which was a Brad Whitford (!) song. Go figure. Janie's Got a Gun is a good song, regardless of what you think of Aerosmith. Good, well thought-out album. Good to see rock stars come back from the dark side instead of immolating themselves for a change.

Really enjoyed, some notable songs

Nicely done

In the timeless vortex of rock and roll lore, Aerosmith's "Pump" emerges like a leather-clad phoenix rising from the ashes of 80s excess. With a cocktail of gritty guitar riffs and Steven Tyler's unmistakable howl, this album is a sonic time capsule, transporting listeners back to an era when MTV still played music videos and cassette tapes ruled the highways. "Pump" isn't just an album; it's a snapshot of an era where hairspray flowed freely and denim jackets were a requisite fashion statement. From the infectious groove of "Love in an Elevator" to the bluesy swagger of "Janie's Got a Gun," each track is a testament to the band's enduring prowess in blending hard rock with pop sensibilities. Yet, beneath the surface of catchy hooks and anthemic choruses lies a darker undercurrent. Tracks like "Janie's Got a Gun" tackle weighty themes with a deft touch, showcasing Aerosmith's ability to infuse social commentary into their rock anthems. But what truly sets "Pump" apart is its ability to evoke a sense of nostalgia without feeling dated. Whether you're a die-hard fan reliving the glory days or a newcomer discovering the magic for the first time, there's something undeniably timeless about the raw energy and infectious melodies of Aerosmith's "Pump." It's a reminder that some albums don't just stand the test of time; they define it.

Janie’s got a gun is a gem that trademarked their sound with that Runaway… run run baby runaway! The rest is a great album from the early years…

I like this better than their 70s records. Favorite song: F.I.N.E.

I forgot how dirty Aerosmith could be

The question will always be whether 'Pump' is betterthan Jethro Tull's 'A Crest of a Knave'. The latter won best rock album at the Grammys whereas Aerosmith the former should have. Look, on the face of it this was the lap of honour for The Toxic Twins who seems to have resurrected in a more dramtic way than even Lazarus. It was a strong successor to their true comeback album, 'Permanent Vacation' and had some massive hits as well as substance that set it apart from the newer hair metal acts on the block. 'Janie's Got a Gun' is the true inspiration here but only Tyler - and maybe Brian Johnson - could come up with 'Love in the Elevator' Its of its time and is an important rock album for the day. But is it better than Jethro Tull? For the category it was standing in then, yes, probably.

Three bangers on here, but the rest was a bit of filler.

I’m rating this one according to its time in my life and the associated nostalgia. It’s great in my memory and makes me happy to listen to again, but is not their strongest musically. Very brashy and loud production. It fits perfectly with its time and, I think, was a needed jolt to the flashy pop-rock of the era. No matter what, it’s hard to beat Steven Tyler’s voice.

Aerosmith er nice

Have we had any Aerosmith? Maybe one album but it's a shame I can't even remember because of how little representation. How is it we get one thousand UK rock bands and that one is US. I need more Aerosmith like I need some love in an elevator. Obviously that one is a classic and we also get Janie's Got a Gun and The Other Side, the guitar hero Aerosmith added some of these to my memory too. Great album, awesome jams. I even enjoyed some of the lesser known ones.

Really good production sound for a 1989 record. It doesn’t sound cheesy - just big and clean tones everywhere. Some great tunes. Classic Aerosmith.

This album didn’t get enough of my attention because of all the attention it got elsewhere. Truly a solidly well Played and well produced effort.

I actually enjoyed some of this. The harmony in F.I.N.E. was fun and Jaine's got a gun is a classic

Jpensais j'aimais pas Aerosmith. J'avais tort.

Decent album. Not a massive fan of Aerosmith, but when their singles come on I enjoy the listen. The album has its ups and downs, but overall worth a listen.

Oldies but goodies.

Find it dodgy that Tyler was basically my age at time of recording and singing about teenage girls, but this bangs in the main. Don't think Perry gets the respect he deserves as a guitarist, riffs galore.

I like a lot of Aerosmith, but most of these aren't my favorites. Although I do love "What it Takes". This album is just a notch above others that I rated 3.

Has some classics, but also some hidden gems I hadn't heard like voodoo

Not quite the same listening to "Love In an Elevator" NOT being on a roller coaster. Pretty good album with some well know songs. Has a raw, rough around the edges feel. And of course, ends with a power ballad.

In their prime.

Not the kind of album I usually listen to, but I’m a roadtrip and this is a fun road trip tape. I enjoyed songs like F.I.N.E. With some nice harmonies on the chorus. I also had fun with the weird interludes of dulcimer an didgeridoo even if they surrounded throwaway tracks like Don’t Get Mad Get Even

Aerosmith is never a band that I seek out to listen to, but they do have some incredibly catchy songs.

I forgot how many great dongs are on this album.

Pretty good album

Permanent Vacation put Aerosmith back in the forefront and Get a Grip had more ubiquitous hits, but Pump is their best post-classic album by far. Stronger production, tighter setlist and a perfect blend between hard rockers and their softer side. This is as good as slicked-up hard rock can get. B+

It felt like they were trying too hard to be cool almost the entire time. This is a 3.55 being rounded up to 4.

Good enough

Yes please, all the silly OTT 80s hair rock in one place, timeless classic rock songs, full of energy and big crunching sound.

This is the tenth studio album from this productive band. Pump includes great examples of the band aggressive, confident style which creates polished hard rock songs with popular appeal. Songs like "Love in an Elevator" demonstrate the band's ability bring metal riffs into popular songs. The band also produces rich ballads, like "Janie's got a Gun" and "What it takes," showing the impressive range of the band's skills.

ok for a dude that dates 16 year olds i guess

Listened Before? Y Hell yeah! This album is awesome. I feel like Aerosmith had really refined their sound by the late 80s. This one and Permanent Vacation (1987) were peak albums for them. Absolutely great. It drags in a few spots but not many at all. Added to Library? Y Songs added to playlist: Young Lust, What It Takes

70/100 Based on this scale: 1 star - 0 to 19 2 stars - 20 to 39 3 stars - 40 to 59 4 stars - 60 to 79 5 stars - 80 to 100 A lot of reviewers hate this, but when this came out in '89, it was a lot of fun. At the time, raw sexual energy didn't upset people the way it does now. Some people dismiss them as heavy-glam-rock clichés, while failing to realize that these clichés pretty much exist BECAUSE of Aerosmith. When it comes to sexually overdriven rock, they were it.

With hits including “Janie’s Got a Gun” and “Love in an Elevator,” this is a very strong album. Steven Tyler’s iconic vocals are absolutely amazing.

Over the years I have come to avoid listening to a lot of Aerosmith. This album brought me back to a time where I listened to them in my regular rotation.

Some great songs Janies got a gun is a classic

Didn’t even really know this album existed until I heard a song my parents used to listen to and I got a flashback. Nice album to switch it up

Great guitar sound and great energy. Album lost me a bit on 1 or 2 songs, but overall very good!

Nice album!

Rocks hard

This is what I call "Good shit"

I had this cassette when I was about ten. I think it’s good I didn’t have it at fifteen, because I think 90% of the euphemisms went over my head at ten. 30+ years later, I’m surprised I remember anything from this album except the hits, but many of these are familiar to me. It shows my age that “Dulcimer Stomp” is now one of my favorites. If I can set aside feeling cringy for being into this album back then and try to be objective, I would say there’s a lot that’s good about this album. The production value is great. The vocal harmonies Steven Tyler does are really cool. I will say the lyrics kinda suck though. When it’s not a thinly veiled euphemism, it’s some cheesy, way over-used turn of phrase. Other than that, it’s an all-around good blues-based rock album.

Vet album, echt veel goede nummers, maar ook wel heel veel Aerosmith. Net iets over the top.

Classic!

A fun album. Loved it

Great stuff. Lively, energetic & fun.

Super godt album som jeg skal lytte til et par gange mere.

Not their best, but close to

I like Aerosmith and the goofy love in an elevator vibe. Over the top obnoxious male energy but without any menacing edge. An uncomplicated, rockin' good time. Let's just call it a guilty pleasure.

Pas les huges classiques attendus, mais gros son sale. i like ittttttt.

pretty good dad rock

Makes me feel 19 all over again.

I’m pretty mad I don’t want to give this a 5. The first four songs were peak Aerosmith and then the rest was just good, not great, but good.

Front side is amazing and second half was decent with one of my favorites in What it Takes. I like 70s Aerosmith a lot more but still amazing they are able to evolve their songs and reach bigger commercial heights 20 years in. Rating: 4.2

I don’t know much about music production but I’ve seen pictures of producers in the studio behind the boards. This album sounds like somebody slammed every level to its maximum output. How is it possible that every instrument sounds like it’s at the front of the mix? Why is this still screaming loud even when I lower the volume? The majority of the album leans toward heavy metal but there’s a nice mix of songs, including the power ballad closer “What It Takes.” Consistently rockin’, occasionally stupid (in a charming way) and a ton of fun.

I like late 80's Aerosmith with the high commercial appeal gloss lacquered all over their music and image. They might be a bunch of lame ass geezers writing cheesy cornball songs, but they're fun. I can't deny that I have fun listening to them. And Joe Perry is absolute sex on wheels, so yeah... the thirst for Joe is also pumping up this score.

Who would have thought Aerosmith would make a good fun album in 1989??

I’ve never been hugely into Aerosmith but this was a great time. The standard cock rock you’d expect but nothing too too cringe, and there was a lot more variety than I expected- Janey Got a Gun could almost be a Pearl Jam song

I gotta be honest. I fully expected to score this one pretty low when I hit play. Aerosmith is just so cheesy that I thought, "there's no way this is good." And it IS cheesy. It's very much an "I'm still cool" dad rock album. But it's also really fun. Sure, the lyrics are, by and large, vapid and unimaginative. But it's FUN. There are moments where brilliance shine through as well. There's some legitimately great musicianship here. It's just buried under a mountain of cheese. Anyway, it was good enough to scrape a 4-star rating but, in no world is this even close to a 5-star album.

Going Down / Love In An Elevator is a classic!! Didn't think much of the rest of the album.

Good example of why popular music is popular. Didn't love it (Janie's got a gun is solid), but it was easy to get through the whole album. Other stuff in genres I don't like can feel excruciating at times. 3.5

Very Aerosmith

Pretty refreshing to hear some straight ahead rock and roll. Though not everything hits, the combo of love in an elevator, janie, other side and what it takes push this as a pretty solid, impressive release. Enjoyed.

Only listened once but it was good especially Love in an Elevator ! 3/4* ?

Highlights: Young Lust, Going Down/Love In An Elevator, Water Song/Janie's Got A Gun

Dużo znanych piosenek, mimo że nie jestem specjalnym fanem to bardzo przyjemnie się słuchało.

I remember when this came out. I was in college at the time. I have a friend who is a big Aerosmith fan. Me, not so much. I really like their stuff from the 70s, but that was about it. But this album has some of their strongest later material: Otherside (Dulcimer Stop is a great precursor to it), Love In An Elevator (love the harmonies at the end). Ending with probably one of my favorite late-Aerosmith songs: "What It Takes". Some of their later albums I was not as much a fan of, but this had a lot of the songs I did like of theirs of the 80s / 90s. One of the reviews I did see were people complaining about Tyler singing about sex all the time. Well, yeah. That's what Aerosmith was all about. Rock and roll, sex, and... drugs. Lots of all three, man. It was pretty excessive and some of the songs are that way too. You just have to roll your eyes and go with it.

Side one is pretty kick ass. Love in an Elevator is quintessential Aerosmith - sexual innuendo-filled lyrics with scorching guitars - and Janie's Got a Gun is surprisingly deep with just as good musical stylings. I didn't really know about FINE or Monkey on My Back but they definitely rock. Young Lust isn't bad either. Side two dips, and reminds me that Aerosmith is better as a greatest hits band than a full album band. But The Other Side and What it Takes are still very good tunes (Dulcimer Stomp is a cool lead-in to the former too), and combined with side one help make up for the so-so middle part of side two. If you don't like rock, this is a 3. But if you like rock, you can get behind this album.

growing up, my brother was the one into aerosmith, not me. methinks it had something to do with if he liked something, i felt like i shouldn’t. either that, or perhaps the fact that my musical palette wasn’t as expansive as it is in the present day. having said all of that, this album fuckin’ rawks. hard rock with strong southern rock vibes, which is one of the things i remembered from its predecessor, “permanent vacation”. in fact, an argument could be made that “what it takes” is a southern rock song. joe perry rocks the slide guitar on multiple songs. good mix of slower songs and uptempo songs. steven tyler is a badass. the whole band cooks. solid album with “my girl” being the only clunker in the bunch. highlights: “young lust”, “f.i.n.e.”, “dulcimer stomp/the other side”, “what it takes”.

This is one of the first albums I had. Got it at a garage sale maybe? Maybe from my sister. Had the cassette. I always skipped tracks 1, 4, and 6. This is definitely one of those situations (like so many we've already had) where you have to separate the art from the artist. But Aerosmith put out some hits. Let's get to it. -Young Lust- Yeah, it's okay. I can see why I skipped it. -FINE- Bopping little rock song. I love his grinding voice. -Going Down- Hit for a reason, good track. Juvenile humor driving lyrics with rocking musical accompaniment. -Monkey on my back- Yeah, I'd skip this one now. -Janie- This is what I'm talking about, feeling in the vocals. Even though a lot of them are essentially spoken, they're spoke with feeling. Erica: the same album with "Love in an Elevator" comes swinging at serial child abuse and murder. Heavy hitting. They're covering a lot of ground in this album. -Dulcimer Stomp- Yeah, I see why I skipped that before as well. Doesn't bother me, but it's nothing to write home about, but I had it separated from: -Take me to the Other Side- Which is great. -My Girl- This is one that should've had more play. I may think differently if I listened to the lyrics, I dunno. -Don't get mad get even- Meh. -Hoodoo- Meh -What it takes- Gold. This is the jam.

I’ll be honest, this one threw me for a loop. I got this album when I was growing up and played it out. One of the first bands I ever got into and one of the first albums I bought with my own money was its predecessor Permanent Vacation. I think it might have actually been the first one I spent my own money on to be honest. I grew up an Aerosmith kid. But it’s on this list? Really? I see Permanent Vacation isn’t and that’s weird to me as PV was their big comeback. Not even sure if PV belongs here but certainly over Pump, right? But I listened to this again for the first time in a really long time and m still really into it. Love in an Elevator, Janie’s Got a Gun, What it Takes, The Other Side….those songs are truly great. F.I.N.E. has always been one of my favorite ‘Smith songs and Young Lust and My Girl are better than average, as is Hoodoo Medicine Man. Monkey on My Back and Don’t Get Mad Get Even are pretty filler material but not terrible. And that’s it. That was quick, enjoyable, nostalgic, and better than I remembered and I remembered it fondly. Can’t say it’s a classic, can’t say I’m not surprised it’s on here, but I can say that yeah, I’m happy it’s here.

Doesn’t stop for a moments breath.

Good. I own it.

Good album

Still solid

Yeah it’s pretty good. It’s what I expect Aerosmith to sound like.I’ve never been super into their sound but I get why they’re popular.

I really don't want to like Aerosmith, but they make some really catchy rock songs.

Classic radio-friendly rock with a number of hits. The strongest song here is easily Jeanie's Got A Gun, but Love In An Elevator, The Other Side and What It Takes are great as well. The rest of the album ist fine, but nothing special, albeit well written and produced. A fun album that deserves to be on this list. 3.5/5

Good ol' 80's rock n roll

1989, американский хард-рок. Десятый студийный альбом, период после воссоединения и реабилитации. Janie's Got A Gun.

For transparency's sake, I'll admit that I'm heavily biased against Aerosmith. I listened to a lot of classic rock up until I was in my mid-twenties, and I listened to Aerosmith quite a bit (I think I still have their double disc greatest hits). But as time has gone on, I've really soured on them. I personally think they're the most overrated classic rock band of all time, and their catalog only has a couple of songs I still enjoy. Worst of all, it seems like Steven Tyler might be a dirtbag. I groaned when I was given this album today, and this started off as my first hate-listen of this list. However, much to my surprise, I really enjoyed this album. "F.I.N.E." was really catchy, and after that, I stopped my hate-listen. I don't like Steven Tyler's vocals at all, but musically, I really liked what the band did here. There's something about their drumming that I really liked on this album. I loved the little instrumental interludes leading into the songs, which is something that was left off of these songs when I've heard them previously. Even when I liked listening to Aerosmith, I hated "Janie's Got a Gun," but I even though I still don't like it, I think it's lyrically the band's best song. "What it Takes" is another standout to me on this album. I'm not sure what to make of the overt sexual tones of some of the songs on here. I can't tell if Aerosmith is pulling a Spinal Tap, and embracing the stereotype of the groupie-banging rockstar with a bit of a wink, or if they really think they're God's gift to their throngs of female fans. These recent allegations against Steven Tyler make me lean towards the latter, which makes me feel like these songs are kinda gross, even if they're a bit tongue in cheek. Overall though, I enjoyed this album, and I can see why it brought Aerosmith back into the spotlight.

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would 7/10 Fave: Love in an elevator

Aerosmith is one of those bands that's always Livin' on the Edge of greatness and terribleness for me. On any given day, I'll either love or hate Steven Tyler's mewling. Today was a good day for it, but I could easily see rating this a 2 any other time. Also, Pump is notably an album where the enduring singles are some of the worst tracks. Love in an Elevator is fine I suppose, but Janie's Got a Gun is just bad.

It seems a bit silly that I’d never listened to this album in full before today. My favourite Aerosmith song (Love In An Elevator) is on this album, so you’d have thought I’d have looked it up before today. But nope. Songs I already knew: Love In An Elevator, Janey’s Got A Gun Favourites: Love In An Elevator, Don’t Get Mad Get Even I’m gonna be honest, I’ve had an awful couple of days where I’m lacking any motivation to do much of anything at all, including listening to albums. However, I’m glad I did decide to pop my headphones on and listen to this. Aerosmith can sometimes be quite mood-lifting, as there is a bounciness to their music. There were no bad songs to be found here. Some songs were certainly better than others, but I enjoyed this album a lot and frankly helped me feel a little bit more alive.

A lot of fun in a small package, several songs could be looped endlessly, while a few are just there. 4/5

Oh ho shit. Friends, this was 14/15 year old Craig's jam back in 1989. Craig saved up his pennies and bought this tape and wore it out. I'm pretty excited to have an excuse to give this a listen again. And it holds up! If you can buy into this being 100% dumb sex rock, you are ready to go. Only a handful of generic songs on this one - most of them have melody that at least gets into your ear. Whereas earlier Aeorsmith was pretty thin, with even the hits - Walk This Way and Mama Kin - getting way better treatment by Run DMC and Guns N Roses, this feels like a full-throated bar band having a good time.

Can I just give this a 4 and not listen to it? I get it, this is a great album. This is the album that was played to death by everyone at the time. This is the album that made me never want to hear Aerosmith again. And then first roommate I ever had, guess their favorite band. I can't do this. I'm serious. I know it's a good album, I just done with it. Ok, so I played it and just skipped the cringe tracks and like I said I'd give it a 4. I still love The Other Side and got a really pleasant surprise with Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man. I never caught that one before, probably my favorite song on the album at the moment. I couldn't go 5 because Aerosmith is such a caricature of a rock band to me, but this album is really solid nonetheless.

perus rokkändrollia pääasiassa, hyvää sellaista.. tulee kuitenkin syvyyttä välillä vähän un konventionaalien instrumenttien käytöstä, tykkäisin enemmän jos olisi painostanut siihen. rallikkaita biisejä, koko albumin ajan vaikka vähän huonompia biisejä tulee niin pysyy kokoajan hyvät VAIBIT VIBAT VIBES yllä hoodoo voodoo medicine man paras biisi... vähiten soittoja spotifyssa huhhuh meikä on vähän semmonen sälli...

Very cool

Rock de Aerosmith. Ningún megahit.

i guess aerosmith never misses. expect in choosing a decent man as their lead singer. kudos.

Very good

Screw it, this was fun.

Who wants to make love in an elevator? Quite a few people apparently. Fun furious mullet banging

Heavy, precise, and often loud in its approach. Several songs segued into the next, which was a nice touch. I could've done without several of the interludes that start songs, but overall, a solid effort. Favorite track: Love in an Elevator

thought Guitar Hero: Aerosmith was a fairly comprehensive catalog… boy was I wrong

Never been a big Aerosmith fan. Their music always annoyed me along with their personalities that seemed obnoxious. Maybe it’s decline of the popularity of rock music, but I’ve softened to these guys and I enjoyed this album so far (3 songs to go, so hope it doesn’t let down suddenly).

I enjoyed this one more than expected. In general, I'm not much of a fan of what I'd call pop metal. But Aerosmith are just on top of their game on this album. They know exactly what they're doing and do it really well! Also some heavier bits on here than expected. Unfortunately, there are a few stinkers on here as well such as Water Song/Janie's Got A Gun. But still a very nice album on the whole.

Good stuff

Un bon album de hard rock avec de bin classique 4

Man, I was dreading listening to this. Janie's Got a Gun has to be one of the alltime worst songs in my head, it was just so ubiquitous, it was everywhere, I mean, completely inescapable. Plus, I thought that Armageddon song was on here. And Janie's Got a Gun was not the only big hit from this album, this album dominated MTV and local radio. This was peak Hair Metal era, and Aerosmith was dominating. But here's the thing, Aerosmith is not typical hair metal. This was an OG late seventies hard rock band, seamlessly inserting themselves into the pop landscape while somehow pretty much being true to themselves. At least at this point! Because they would even get Bigger after this. It's fascinating to me, because when I found out Whitesnake was formed by the guy from Deep Purple, and Damn Yankees was some supergroup formed from ted nugent and dudes from styx and night ranger (!), I was shocked. Those guys, that was the prototypical Hair Metal sound - loud rockin' power chords + droning groaning annoying power ballads. So, What It Takes is about as close as it gets to a power ballad here - this album is pretty much Aerosmith picking up from and improving upon Permanent Vacation's pop success of Rag Doll, Dude Looks Like a Lady, and the god-awful power ballad Angel (to be fair, I find all power ballads to be god-awful) with the sound that made them unique among the rock landscape at the time. By unique, one could argue, actually good. But I couldn't appreciate that back then, because I was so blindly determined to hate the band that relentlessly imposed Janie Janie Janie on me. And let's not forget how much MTV loved these expensive videos, and would continue to. Love in an Elevator, What It Takes, Other Side, I mean, this album was just saturating America! And yet, these guys threw horns onto metal riffs, accordions into country-infused rock ballads, and were still slapping funky blues licks over top of snappy rock beats across all their music. It was definitely a cut above Poison, Warrant, and White Lion. And so, listening to the OTHER SONGS on this album, it's all good. It's just good f'ing rock music man, and I'm sorry I hated it back then, but you gotta understand, sometimes some of us need music that is a little "deeper" than Love in an Elevator. But generally, the world doesn't. The world needs songs about sex, and I now understand that that is a-ok.

Finally got round to it, was good, not too spectacular though.

4/5. A pretty enjoyable album with amazing vocals from Steven Tyler. Some of the songs are cliche but the transitions between songs really makes this album stand out.

Pretty cool, has that 80s Aerosmith sound but deviates into new and interesting areas to keep it fresh for the whole album. Nicely constructed!

Excellent, exciting music. Must listen again.

"Pump" is the 10th studio album from Aerosmith which included (in the US) four top-40 hits. Aerosmith wanted a more raw sound than their previous album "Permanent Vacation" and also, producer Bruce Fairbaim wanted to get in as many hooks as possible on the songs. I think they accomplished both. A critic called this "the high-water mark of the glam metal era." Is that like being the world's tallest....oh forget it. Glam metal was a huge musical genre in the late 80's and this is probably one of the better ones. I liked how they kind of sound like "Rocks"-era Aerosmith combined with some of the glam metal choruses and hooks. They brought in experimental instrumentalist Randy Raine-Reusch which adds a unique sound to some of their bigger songs. Most of these songs have sexual themes. No surprises there. Although, there are a few deeper lyrical songs about abuse, guns, the environment and drug abuse. The album starts out rockin' with "Young Lust" and "F.I.N.E" and reminiscent of early to mid-70's Aerosmith. Great Joe Perry guitar. Lyrics about lust, sex, etc. "Going Down/Love in an Elevator" kicked off the successful string of singles. Funky start. Horns. Great production. The glam metal chorus. "Water Song/Janie's Got a Gun" ends side one. One of the cooler things about this song is the musical intro by Randy Raine-Reusch using a glass harmonica. A deeper song about abuse, molestation and even gun control. The video was pretty deep if I remember correctly. Side two begins with another hit "Dulcimer/The Other Side." Another Randy Raine-Reusch intro with the dulcimer. Horns and big start. Nice chorus. Aerosmith had to include Holland-Dozier-Holland in the writing credits for the similarities to "Standing in the Shadows of Love." The albums ends with "What It Takes," a ballad of sorts I would say. Sometimes Stephen Tyler's voice can irritate me but he actually shines in this song. Pretty good lyrics too..breaking up with someone and realizing the relationship meant nothing to them. I admit to not being the biggest Aerosmith, or even glam metal fan. And, this is the first time listening to this, probably since half these songs were played pretty much throughout 1989. However, this is a really good album accomplishing probably everything they wanted to do. It did not sound dated and has an old school Aerosmith harder edge taking it over the top for me.

Quintessential Aerosmith. Never been a huge Aerosmith fan, but this is a damn fine metal album from a F.I.N.E. bunch of musicians.

Good album, catchy songs, amazing riffs, drumming and vocals.

solid rock album, very surprised about the low stream count on spotify. its an alround great album only lacking a real sing along hit

Aerosmith 😊

very enjoyable rock, even liked the slower songs

Good classic rock sound, many of the songs were a little same-y though. Janeys got a gun stood out though, that one's a classic. Would listen to again for a tailgate or a drive

Aerosmith is one of those bands that I feel like most people, when pressed, will admit that they don't mind them. It's fun, somewhat generic rock and roll that feels like it could've come out from any point after Led Zepplin took the stage. I went into this fully expecting to give it a middle-of-the-road score, but came away realizing I knew (and enjoyed) more songs on it, from the whooping "Love in an Elevator" to the weird ... keyboards? ... of "Janie's Got a Gun". Even recorded, Steven Tyler is an electric performer. Favorite tracks: "Love in an Elevator", "What It Takes", "The Other Side"

I think I have to give this 4 just because some of these tracks are classic. I don't know that I will listen to it again, but I respect it.

5/22/2022 - ALBUM #115 Today's Album: "Pump" by Aerosmith - This album is another great set of tracks from Aerosmith with a lot of new sonic ideas and interesting experimentation. If you want to hear my opinion for most Aerosmith songs, you can read my last review where I had a bit of a revelation and realized I enjoyed their music way more than I thought I would just hearing the hits. However, I think this album is interesting more for how it differs from the last project. Both are fantastic albums with many similarities like the amazing songwriting, insane guitar solos, interesting mixing choices, and really masterful choices in terms of the album's flow. This song centers on a common theme of young love, lust, and breakup and there are a lot of really cool moments where other song titles pop up in the lyrics in interesting ways and adds to the cohesion of the message. The guitar solos feel noticeably better than they were on Rocks, sometimes bordering on sounding like Led Zeppelin 1 (in a good way), and I really enjoy some of the departures they took from their usual style. The beginning of Dulcimer Stomp and the end of What It Takes are really cool musical interludes that sound like old Scottish folk tunes and they both took me so off guard given the usual style of Aerosmith. I also like the track Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man because it sounds like a fusion of Zeppelin and Hendrix and really comes out as this loud and energetic psyche-rock tribute. There are some incredible highs on this record and for me, no song really falls under a 7 due to just how great Tyler's lyricism and songwriting is and just how many sounds the band goes for on each and every track. Harmonica is a welcome addition for sure on this album and the whole project just makes me want to hear what else the band has put together. Yes, a lot of that generic hair rock sound is present, but it is really spaced out well throughout the project and I never found myself getting fatigued. Overall, this is a great way to follow up Aerosmith's Rocks and has gotten me more and more excited to listen to more of their work. Check this one out if you liked Rocks or if you just enjoy some kick-ass hard rock. Highlights: Young Lust, Going Down/Love In An Elevator, Water Song/Janie's Got A Gun, Dulcimer Stomp/The Other Side, Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man, What It Takes Score: 8/10 They did it again goddammit

Bra drag!

A really good album, full of classic 90s Aerosmith songs in including Love in an Elevator, Janie's Got a Gun, The Other Side, and What it Takes. 4/5

Just how exactly a rock band that got their start in the 70s, manages to come back decade over decade and be relevant and fresh, is beyond me! Pump, is packed with hits which have remained in constant rotation on both Pop and Rock radio stations ever since. It's a testament to how when a group finds just the right blended musical sensibility, they can transcend audiences and cultural phases, and tap into a vein with music that people can't kick, like a bad habit. The riffs and melodies are undeniably catchy, even if you're like me and you're not into the band all that much. With that in mind, I've got to give credit where credit is due. For my tastes, I'd say 'The Other Side' is the real gem on this album. The layered vocal tracks on the hook are unshakable, the brass/wind section is jubilant, and the core of the band is just pounding along with a blues-rock vibe that even the staunchest prude can't help but tap their foot to.

Goeie Glam metal, maar niet persé een super album

hard rock com potência e condução certa da sequencia.

I flip-flop on my opinion of Aerosmith, I think they have some amazing songs and then some serious duds. This album hits that sweet spot where they're rocking but not too cheesy. Definitely a strong showing from the band. The Riff in Monkey on my Back reminds me of Giving a Dog a Bone by AC/DC.

Fantastic

Just a good rock n roll album.

Perkele kyllä Aerosmith vaan osaa rokkaa. Ilman loppulevyn ehkä jopa sekoiluksi kutsuttua musisointia/musiikillisen identiteettikriisin iskiessä olis ollu femma, mut mun taiteellisuuden tulkintaan ei natsannu, nii vähän putoo arvosana

Nothing technically brilliant but good old fun. Even though I never registed the song by its title, it appeared Love In An Elevator was engrained in my brain as I immediately sang along to the backing vocals. Probably the best track was Janie's Got A Gun as it's got a great verse/chorus structure plus some intriguing and disturbing lyrics. Guess the only downside was musically it gets tiring here and didn't like Don't Get Mad, Get Even at all.

Great band, Like to liten their songs.

Awesome stuff. This album has my all-time fave power ballad What It Takes. So so good.

I always found Aerosmith annoying but I found this very enjoyable.

Rather surprised by this one. I was expecting just some crude, tasteless rock, but there’s actually some good stuff here. A nice variation of quick-paced tracks and slow-burners. Steven Tyler brings some fun and catchy vocals that really make the songs pretty special. 8/10

pretty good hard rock, Aerosmith has a great discography but this definitely isn't their best album, I’d say this is an 8/10

I've always found Aerosmith to occupy an odd spot in the hair rock genre. The wailing of guitars and voices is certainly there, but in many ways it's a very musical band. Their songs have infiltrated my life, and I was reminded of this at a concert at Cheyenne Frontier Days a few years back. I didn't realize just how many Aerosmith songs I knew intimately. Pop40 radio sweethearts for sure. This album has a few of the classic songs we know and love from Aerosmith (Love in an Elevator?!). It doesn't get annoying and is a good listen from front to back - something that cannot be said of all hair metal bands from the 80s. Well above average and verging on 5 stars.

Quite enjoyable as Aerosmith albums go.

Muy bueno!

Good stuff. Janie's song kinda drags otherwise good rock and roll

first listen it's refreshing to listen to guitar-based 80s music

I was surprised by how many of aerosmiths hits were on this album. Every other song I’ve heard on the radio a bunch of times at some point in my life. All those hits make it a pretty solid album overall. Young lust, going down, and what it takes are all great

I really liked this

Discazo,👌

Rock de Aerosmith. Ningún megahit.

Great if you're in the mood. The Stones with a sense of humour

Not their absolute best but still some great tunes

Steven Tyler might be a sell out but damn if he doesn’t make good music

Prize for most double entendre, puns, and sex jokes per song! Still funny and rocks hard today. After listening to a bunch of other hair metal bands on this list, it's hard to overstate just how much better Aerosmith is in every way to Def Lepard, Motley Crue, etc. Arrangements, musicianship, song-writing are all a cut above.

What I consider to be classic Aerosmith. Songs of my childhood. 4

It may not be the most influential album, or even my favourite Aerosmith album, but really enjoyed my whole time listening

really fun album

This is not the late era Aerosmith I would have chosen for the list. Try “Permanent Vacation” album sometime. Overall good Rock and I’m debating 3 vs 4 stars. Rounding up.

Good album

Hard rock, hard cock. Well sort of, I'd say it gives me a semi at best.

Pretty solid album, liked most songs but there were a couple I didn't really care for.

I know the hits but not an album I am going to put on high rotation

Just a nice and solid rock album that is no groundbreaker by any means but instead is a catchy album that is very easy listening

Dit vond ik verrassend tof!

Pump contains a trio of legitimately classic jams in “Love in an Elevator”, “Janie’s Got a Gun”, and “The Other Side”. The rest of the LP is pretty tight, too. (7/10) Favourite Tracks: See above

Did liked this album, didn't like Aerosmith. Hard to explain

In the begging it sounded slightly common or basic, but then, after approximately the 4th song, it become something interesting. 4 stay because of boring beggining

Great album but I do find his voice can jar a little bit at times

Well I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I might. Will have to listen to some more Aerosmith

I enjoyed it, it's definitely good at what it does, wasn't expecting to give it a high rating. Some of the lyrics are a little much though..

Classic Aerosmith sound! Hardly a weak track on the whole album - like it!

Man pretty much all of these tracks were super catchy. Very listenable, complete with dulcimer. And now I finally understand that they were saying "Love in an Elevator" all this time. Makes a lot more sense than "Lovin' it in La Vida"

A few well known tracks on this album. Ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.

Fire! 2 heaters in Love in an Elevator and Janie’s Got a Gun. Real deal blues rock. The Other Side also has some replay value. I’ll be back to this record.

Rating: 7/10 Best songs: Young lust, Going down/Love in an elevator

Gonna be honest. I saw this cover and thought I was in for a rough time. Now I think have a new favorite Aerosmith album. The runner up being Toys In the Attic. Gave me a lot of Damn Yankees vibes and I loved it because of that. I actually enjoyed Aerosmith for once. The album carried great energy and the songs were good as well .Definitely gonna give this another listen. Jamies got a gun is actually a lot of fun to listen to within the context of the album. I used to hate the song when it came on the radio. Favorite track: Hard to tell they were all pretty good.

Good, but not my cup of tea.

Great album, lots of classics. Definitely acts its age.

I definitely thought I was going to hate this album but it was surprisingly enjoyable. Good late 80s/early 90s rock. Steven Tyler is ok....in small doses.

Not a masterpiece, but was a lot of fun listening to.

Really liked this. Listened to a lot of Aerosmith in our house growing up and this is the era I know best (although I've never listened to the album all the way through before). I think this album shows Aerosmith really are versatile. There was only really one song I didn't like (Monkey On My Back). I do think songs like Love In An Elevator really play to the strengths of the band and that song really is a classic imo.

Typically not an Aerosmith fan, but this was a pretty good album

I love Aerosmith. I don't recall if I've listened to this entire album, but I'm looking forward to it. I at least know a few of the songs. Yeah, good album. Both recognizable songs and some I haven't heard. Giving a 4 cuz I didn't like some of the lyrics.

i feel like this is as classic as classic rock gets. def a good time, easy listening. makes me want to be at an outdoor concert. not my favorite thing in the world to listen to but i definitely appreciate it's place in history.
