Reviews (page 4 of 8)

Actually massively enjoyed this, recognised that they've influenced more modern bands, but also really liked that you can hear the real American Blues-ey and rock n roll influences, and the other instruments like piano and harmonica. 4/5

An unashamedly, swaggering bluesy hard rock album. Steven Tyler’s staggering vocals and Joe Perry’s beautiful tones and licks combine brilliantly (making a strong case as the new Jagger and Richards) but it’s also an album of simply brilliant rock songs. Bruce Fairbairn’s production manages to make everything sounds amazing and every instrument (including Steve’s voice) shine at once. There is nothing new on here, it’s just executed perfectly.

This is the second time this has come up on one of my groups. First time I thought it was just okay. I now think this is a vinyl pickup. Superb tunes.

Excellent. Proper rock.

Great album. Really enjoyed it

I was so determined after my listening to give it a 5. But several hours later I can't feel it. There are some great songs, however I don't think it deserves a 5.

4.5/5 pretty good album! Kudos Aerosmith

Better than I remember!

Hit: Hoodoo/voodoo medicine man

mt bom

Good album, possibly the last good before Aerosmith starting making songs that all sound the same (1990's). I remember listening to this as a teen and digging the sound a great deal. Good album, start to finish.

Another prominent player in the late 80s Friday Night Videos era. Pulls off the "wall of anthem" of the Bon Jovi but with more wit and whimsy.

ROCK AND ROLL BAYBBEEE

Better than expected - good record.

Great album

1/12 Great Rock album. Standout Tracks: F.I.N.E., Going Down / Love In An Elevator, Water Song / Jamie’s Got A Gun, My Girl

I liked the hits because MTV told me to when I was young and impressionable. I actually liked the rest of this more than I expected, some nice bluesy riffs and harmonies that overcome Tyler's frantic vocalizations. Knibb High Football Rules. Probably 3.8 star-wise. I would skip the hits and listen to the rest again.

can’t stand jamie’s got a gun

not bad, pretty good. too bad steven tyler decided to adopt an underage girl in order to have a romantic/sexual relationship with her :///

Some songs I really appreciate, love the voice, a little dad rocky for me. Could see myself listening to again. 3/4

Very well-produced and well-performed. Nice variety of rock sounds.

Good album for the background if I’m mowing, would listen again it would take a more in depth listen to remember the songs. 3/5

Fun 3 star album, I had never listened to Aerosmith beyond the top 40 radio highlights but there was some enjoyable moments and some unexpected surprises here.

Está bien, es un buen disco, aunque el disco culmen de Aerosmith para mi es Get a Grip

I think I need to confront something within myself which is that I actually enjoyed this. I liked love in an elevator. Steven Tyler is a really fun vocalist. I sincerely apologize.

please do not mistake me for a prude for thinking half these lyrics are foul. i hate prudes, i just hate whatever the hell is going on here even more. some catchy melodies tho

I listening to this while benching at the gym and probably drooling. I still didn't feel quite stupid enough to really enjoy this

Not impressed apart from Water Song/Janie’s got a gun

Surprised I enjoyed this as much as I did. I would have thought my days of Hair Rock were long over. Some great tunes and a band that I think were better than the stereotype of the music would lead you to believe. Lots of good bluesy rifts, songs with great hooks, and not over the top on the bravado. I probably won't be coming back to this, but it deserves it's place.

633/1001 2026.06.10 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

Some great pop rock hits in there isn't there? It feels a little oversexed and thus immature in sections, but the music itself is really good x

Medicre 80s hardrock. 3 stars

Outside of "What it Takes" and "Janie's Got a Gun", this is a pretty mid album. Too many songwriters, not enough guitars, and I could go the rest of my life not hearing "Love in an Elevator" again. 3 stars.

Final Aerosmith already, aye? It's only been 110 albums since I listened to "Toys in the Attic". I don't recall much from this album, truth be told. This list has been a bit of a blur over the past 200 - 300 albums. Thankfully, I don't need to think too deeply about what this late-career album could be. Aerosmith strike me as a band that firmly stick to what they know. For that reason, I'm expecting some more competent, slightly raunchy butt rock tunes. Here goes. Wow, I didn't mind this. I think it might just be better than the other Aerosmith albums I've listened to. That, or I'm just used to their style. Anyways, this album knows exactly what it's trying to be and for that I salute it. This is just some riled up, sensational, horny-as-fuck hard rock tunes. Where the album really succeeds is in the songwriting. The vocal melodies are all very tight and deliberate, which leads to many songs with satisfying build-ups and payoffs. The wailing vocal style also toes the very delicate line of not being irritating, which I'm thankful for. The instrumentals are less remarkable, though that isn't to say they're bad. They're all carried by a pretty similar guitar riff. Fortunately, that riff is solid and I never manage to tire of it, so no complaints from me. Overall, this album was perfectly solid. The only thing really dragging it down for me is that this music isn't exactly my scene. That being said, I might put this on some time in the future whenever I want some easy listening. Book time. "...a monster that mixed the vintage raunch of Toys In The Attic with the hook-packed eclecticism of Pump's predecessor Permanent Vacation." The album had four successful singles. By the mid-80s artists like Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses and Motley Crue were beginning to eat Aerosmith's lunch. Aerosmith responded by pivoting towards more of a Led Zeppelin-influenced sound in both the guitar performances and their willingness to branch out into other genres. Wikipedia says this album is tied with Get a Grip as Aerosmith's second best-selling US release, with Toys in the Attic beating out both albums. It also won a Grammy for Janie's Got a Gun, contains Aerosmith's first chart-topping single (Love in an Elevator) and was the subject of two documentaries. The album was warmly received by critics and performed very well in the countries where it charted, usually peaking in the top ten. In the US, Pump was the fourth best-selling album of 1990 in addition to being the 73rd best-selling album of the 90s. It was also the 19th best-selling album in Australia for 1990 and the tenth in New Zealand. Yeah. I liked this album, and it certainly wins big in the popularity department. I cosign this inclusion.

I mean, I did enjoy the album. It has incredible singles, but it wasn’t cohesive. I would purchase this album but it wouldn’t crack my Aerosmith top 5.

The glam metal era's last hurrah before the fade.

I don’t hate this as much as I feel I should. Does that make any sense?

Aerosmith of this vintage reminds me of my mum. And I miss my mum a lot. So it gets some points for that I guess. Strange to realize since my mum was almost the opposite of the person you probably pictured from my first sentence. Musical taste is a strange thing I guess.

nothing i haven’t heard before

Raunchy rock

A little better than Bon Jovi despite being a fair bit stupider. You can hear the hArD RoCk fortress teetering, with Doolittle and Bleach released a few months earlier. Though like the CIA with the Berlin Wall, these fun-lovers don’t have a clue.

'Young lust, better keep your daughter inside / Or she's gonna get a dose of my pride.' As a rule, any record that succumbs to that sort of lyricism, which is boring aesthetically rather than cancelable misogyny, is unlikely to impress, but I'll give Pump the benefit of the doubt & concede that, on the whole, it's better that I had expected. Effective hooks ('Going Down/Love In An Elevator'), hard driving guitars, thudding drums, & Tyler's now classic vocal stylings all provide for an album that boasts actual songs, albeit not exactly my cup of tea. The problem is that you learn pretty quickly what a lot of us now take for granted: by '89, hip-hop was taking central stage, & generic rock yawned its way to irrelevancy. I was pumped for this to end.

Random thoughts: * This is the Aerosmith I remember fondly from my days as a child of MTV. Love in an Elevator, Janie's got a Gun. * I also recognized The Other Side too! * Overall, pretty solid rocking album from the late 80s. Solid listen and fun to hear some of the also classic Aerosmith from the 80s. Weird to think that Aerosmith had hits across the 70s, 80s, and 90s. They really had some lasting power. Definitely deserve some respect for that longevity and the hits that made. * I wouldn't particularly call this a must listen but I'm not mad about it at all being included in 1001. Probably only needed one of the 70s albums and this one on 1001. 3 is a bit of overkill. Although I might have been inclined to also include the "Get A Grip" album just because of the Cryin, Crazy, and Amazing videos. :). IYKYK

3 estrellas y media. No mucho que decir, solo que estuvo bueno y me gustó el tema dont get mad get even y una balada q no me acuerdo el nombre

5.5/10

I've never been an Aerosmith fan, they have a few ok songs, but I just am not keen on their sound.

This came out in the '80s hair metal time, but it is infused with some blues. Aerosmith also likes to fill an album with high energy songs. I thought it was overall pretty okay and many of the songs were catchy. I did feel like it was missing something and there was a thread of sameness running through a lot of the songs, however.

pretty good. classic.

Not bad but nothing too exciting

It's 3.5

что с наплывом аэросмит... тяжело много подряд слушать, специфический вокал давит на мои связки. худу-вуду мэн запомнился из-за кякякякя

Pure glam metal cheese, released right before grunge came on the scene and completely blew up the rock genre. But I have to respect Aerosmith for sticking to their guns -- Joey Kramer's trash can ending on the lead track "Young Lust" feels like the band saying "yes, we're still here god damnit!" (and listeners seemed to take note, considering the album went on to be certified septuple platinum). There's no shortage of people who look at Aerosmith's discography from the late 80s to present and simply roll their eyes. I'd count myself among them, to a degree; however, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a soft spot for tracks like "Love in an Elevator" and "Other Side" (probably because I played a shit ton of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith back in the day). That said: if Toys in the Attic (1975) doesn't also find its way onto this list, I will seriously question the author's musical tastes (though admittedly, I was already doing that some time ago..)

Better than I remember at least. But I much prefer the hard rocking 70s era Aerosmith to the 80s pop rock version.

Wasn't my least favorite album, and I've been craving some classic rock, but still, not my favorite Aerosmith album. It feels a little... dated for coming out in '89

getting a 3 for the hits alone. yeesh.

One good song - but the rest is acceptable.

Hell yeah!

I'm giving this 3 stars, but it's really a 2.5 being bulled up. Aerosmith makes some enjoyable songs - even at this point in their career, but taken as a whole the album is just...fine I guess.

is this... two... two trucks having sex on the cover? IS THAT A LEMON DEMON REFERENCE? but anyway this is exactly the same with every other aerosmith song ive heard (thats not dream on) 3/5

Easy to listen rock but not something I’d play agon

I love Aerosmith.....at least for their first 5 albums. This had moments of catchiness, but is way too radio-friendly. This was the beginning of the end for what was a raw, bluesy garage band. Steven Tyler started relying too much on double-tracking his vocals with the harmony being an octave too high and resembling fingernails on a chalkboard. The best thing about this album were the videos: and the music that went along with the videos was irrelevant.

Pump has aged well musically (not so much lyrically), and it includes several of their biggest hits. It's unfortunately hampered by an equal amount of generic Aerosmith rock and roll tracks that are middling to okay.

Not a fan of Aerosmith at all, this album is just OK to me

Yawwwn for versatility and interest. I'd go with one of their 1970's albums instead. The later ones don't really do much in the way of carving out anything new.

I’m torn between hating this and loving it, which is an achievement in itself. I guess that evens it out at a 3 then

The fiddle interludes were odd. A lot of poppy songs in this album too.

Yea it's in your face innuendo, and a bit obnoxious, but they just nailed down their sound so well that it's really undeniable. Not my favorite album by a long shot, but it's earned its spot for sure.

I really liked this! Not enough to call one of my favs, but I really enjoyed it. Its really catchy and goes hard - very energetic Fav Track: F.I.N.E. 7/10

PLEASE STOP GIVING ME AEROSMITH ALBUMS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

2.5 stars (subtracting half a star due to being subjected to this (along with Def Leppard) endlessly in the 80's)

Fine, if you’re into it.

This is a really solid album! I definitely have a slight aversion to Aerosmith, but I was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying most of this. It has better songs and a better vibe than Toys in the Attic. Fun listen! Top Songs: Love in an Elevator, Janie’s Got a Gun, What It Takes

They clearly have talent but it’s not for me.

Only made things worse /hj

I listened to this album over my car speakers as I drove around the shops and stadium stadiums of Westgate. Pump is a very strange album to discuss. The best moments of this album rock out like nothing else, with hooks on top of hooks and strong vocal rhythms on top of classic rock instrumentals which keep me headbanging even as I deal with ethics of the lyrics. Which brings us to the main issue here: Aerosmith are the epitome of horny sex-icon rock here, with a deliberately sleazy energy which sometimes seems tongue-in-cheek, but other times seems uncomfortably sincere and gross. Even the songs I otherwise like wind up having at least one or two lines so cringe-inducong they throw off my entire perception of the songs. And even though these sex-filled songs have issues with lyricism, their attempts at serious topics are too bombasticto ring true. Aerosmith does not walk the fine line of good taste here, but rather push their way well last it. Highlights: Young Lust, F.I.N.E., Dulcimer Stomp/ The Other Side

Fuck it, I'm quite partial to some Aerosmith and out of all the largely similar rock albums on here, I enjoyed this more

6/10… glam metal / 80er rock / *1989

2.5 rounded up to a 3 for the big singles.

I'm not gonna lie, I really enjoyed this one. It has a high ratio of quality to crap despite every song being about Stephen Tyler's filthy libido. The big hits are sturdy and deserving but I liked the deeper cuts like "Young Lust" and "F.I.N.E." and the little snippets of world music that are randomly dispersed here and there. It's arena jock rock but it works pretty well, these guys were a tight unit, and the production pushes all the right buttons with a surprising amount of sonic diversity.

Notables: - Love In An Elevator - Janie's Got A Gun

Thoughts before listening: I feel like this is the Aerosmith album where they started the transition from badass Stones style 70s rockers to the more 80s/90s hit makers they became. I know there are some massive hits on this album that will likely be fun to listen to, but in general I prefer their 70s work. Review: Well I guess the true transition to radio hits started an album earlier, but this album does contain the glossy hits along with some throwback rockers. Some of this is cheesy ("F.I.N.E.") while others are nice little deep cut revelations ("Young Lust"). The big hits here are "Love in an Elevator" and "Janie's Got a Gun", with the latter being one of my favorites from the band. Also, "What It Takes" was a hit that is pretty much the blueprint for their 90s ballads. I have a lot of nostalgia around Aerosmith as Get a Grip and their greatest hits album Big Ones were some of the first cds I ever owned. So while my music taste moved beyond their 80s/90s brand of radio friendly pop rock, I still enjoy the occasional listen for old times sake. 3-stars

I liked this more than I thought I would. Much of the album is the "just fine" 80s heavy metal I was expecting, but a few songs verged into actual *heavy* metal riffs that sounded more modern (like the two opening tracks).

It was aight. Nothing to write home about

I don't know if its because Disney's Rock 'n' Rollercoaster is being rethemed from Aerosmith to Muppets or just Steven Tyler's face but all I picture with this is the muppets singing these songs... Its another one of those albums: You already know the hits, you'll never think of the other cuts again.

Favorite songs: Love in an Elevator, Janie’s Got a Gun, The Other Side, What It Takes

Достойное звучание, но не мой жанр

Not my type of music but I respect the playing

Unlike early Aerosmith, which is bluesy, with swagger and artistry and grit, this is late Aerosmith, which is basically just Kid Rock with better guitar solos.

Jesus Christ. Aerosmith again? Already? I know it took forever for me to get my first of their three albums on the list, so the waits between albums would naturally be lower at this point in the project, but did the wait between my first and second Aerosmith albums really need to be 8 days? I liked Rocks well enough, but not enough for me to be excited for more Aerosmith, especially considering that that album has seen a considerably higher amount of praise over the years than Pump. This was one of their late 80s comeback albums apparently, and maybe I'm just not feeling fully there, but I did not vibe much with this album. There are some decent things I can say, but those are just the things I said 8 days ago about Rocks. Well, some of them. The strong instrumentation is still there, that's for sure. Other than that, I feel like this album is a definite downgrade for the band. Steven Tyler's vocals aren't as enjoyable for me this time around. Too much moaning this time around. Speaking of moaning, this album sure does focus on sex with the lyrics, doesn't it? Is it wrong of me to think that these guys probably should've moved on to slightly more mature songwriting over the 13 years it'd been since Rocks by this point? Am I missing something? I guess there are some interesting things here. The album has interludes, I guess? They're whatever. They're attached to the songs though, which makes it a bit harder to go back to the actual songs themselves. I don't know. This whole thing kinda feels like a parody of what Aerosmith once was. This still isn't horrible, but I'm just not feeling this like I did with Rocks. Maybe I'm in a bad mood or something. I still think this has merit, but I'm not in love with it right now. Light 3/5.

rauwch, dees vond ik wel echt een vibe. Goeie gitaren en een marginale tekst, wat meer wil je in het leven.

songs for smoking in the bathroom. Love in An Elevator is a timeless classic for me. "Livin' it up when I'm goin down" is just a catchy and crude hook. Riddled with other catchy but forgettable tracks I'm left with a final rating of 3.5

It has a similar vibe throughout the entire album, except those brief moments where it simply goes nowhere near you would've thought. It was good, nevertheless. High three I'd say

Do straight men *actually* like women, or...?

My friend recently told me to listen to full Aerosmith discography. I haven't started it for longer time, then I got this album from 1001, shit. So I went and listened to all the albums chronologically up to Pump, one time like 5 albums in a row, including Pump. It might've been a bad idea cause at the point I reached Pump, I wanted to strangle Aerosmith members and put them into black disposable boxes. Anyway, I was quite tired of hearing them but I still tried to form an authentic opinion. That said, I think Pump was alright. Now I have the rest of Aerosmith albums to listen to but at least withour any pressure.

2.5 Three Aerosmith albums, really? There is only so much cock rock I can take, and I can take quite a bit. No diddy

Aerosmith is probably one of the best examples of a band that spiraled down the tubes as soon as they got clean. It really is astonishing how bad they got once they got off the sauce and the dope. This album however may be an exception. With the exception of "Janie's Got A Gun" (it's hard to articulate how much I HATE that song), this really is quite good. You can hear the remnants of a great rock band in the majority of these songs, but it's all too bittersweet as the soft, ballad driven, "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" era was looming in the distance like a black cloud of chick rock ready to rain it's shittiness down upon the world.

We have moved into the era of Aerosmith that I do not prefer. At their worst, they sound like a parody of themselves. There are some fun tracks here that I had forgotten that I enjoy when they pop up.

It's not really a great album, but it's goofy and pretty fun to listen to. I can't really take it all that seriously and I hope the band didn't either. The cover is two trucks humping each other and the most famous song on here is about having sex in an elevator. It's 80's dumb rock, but in a fun way rather than a cringey way like Def Leppard or Motley Crue. It has some decent songs and the 80's cheese isn't all that bad on here, even.

Listening to two Aerosmith albums so close together allows me to scrutinize them against each other, which is not something this project allows for often! This one didn’t quite match up to “Rocks” and for the reason, I can’t give it the same score.

groovin but also clutching my pearls

I think this style of old school hard rock is just not my thing. Most of these types of songs give me a headache, though the album *was* good. If I could give it 3½ stars I would. Also, IS THAT A JOJO REFERENCE????

Surface bowl rock album from back in the day, some solid hits but nothing crazy. Three stars, it’s pretty good.

They’re good I just don’t love them personally

Dumb and fun. I can't believe this was their 10th album. 3.3.

I loved a couple of these songs back when I first heard this album in the early 90s. Notably, What it Takes was one of these, though if I had have known at the time how it hinted at the smarmy soft rock that they would soon flood us with on Get a Grip I may not have been so enthusiastic. I still love a few of these songs but they are weighed down by a lot of filler.

I like Aerosmith a lot. I know that's silly but I have been listening to them longer than most bands in my repertoire. They are absolutely a greatest hits band but this is a very solid album, possibly their best. I just wish they had a little more variety, but I can never blame anyone for going hard as hell.

Bad but good. Love in an elevator is one of the better of the shithead Aerosmith songs and What it Takes is one of the better non-shithead Aerosmith songs. Really weird career, can’t believe this album was 15 years after they started

Surprisingly good, always though later era Aerosmith was pure rubbish. Still not quite reaching the heights of their early work.

Presence of Janie’s got a gun and love in an elevator elevate it slightly. Liked the closing track too.

I liked this album a lot when I was a kid. Before this album I thought they were a made up band for a Run-DMC video. They becamse MTV darlings and I watched their videos many, many times. I am not a kid anymore...

I'm not sure I've ever listened to a full Aerosmith album. Partly that's because other than some of their hits, I never really loved them. Dream On and Sweet Emotion are really the only super good tracks they've done in my opinion. Some of the other singles are decent, but also not super original. This album seems like the epitome of that sound. Love in an Elevator is decent and Janie's Got a Gun pretty classic. I just don't feel this like I do other rock albums in this era. Sounds like Nickelback of another era. 3/5

If you don’t take it too seriously it’s kind of a fun listen in places. Certainly not a challenge to listen to!

The more I’ve read/heard about Stephen Tyler over the years makes me feel rather ‘ick’ about him. So an album full of shagging songs doesn’t help matters. Trying to separate that out, it’s an OK album. It’s upbeat hair rock, and more of their obvious style compared to the earlier albums we’ve had here.

Running and burning, they are OK to me but just ok, can’t raise my interest -_-

Better than expected

55/100. It’s alright. I’ve personally never been much of an Aerosmith fan and this didn’t really change that. As a hard rock record, it does the job well enough.

I prefer earlier Aerosmith when they were still leaning into their blues influences. As it is, this album is absolutely fine, and has a few of the band's biggest hits, songs that I've heard a million times in various contexts. This isn't my favorite Aerosmith album, but it's as solid as an album like this can be.

Rock and Roll from the late 80's Take with a shot of whiskey and chase with a grain of salt.

Alright nkt necessarily my vibes

2nd Aerosmith album from the generator and I had really low expectations because I didn't like the 1st album I got. But honestly it was actually quality? Once all the big hits began I couldn't help but enjoy it 3/5

Album No. 0139 on my list. I had no prior connection to this album and am not a huge fan of Aerosmith to begin with. I had been aware however that some people consider this a great record, because the German edition of the Metal Hammer magazine awarded it an extra point beyond its usual grading scale in its original album review (don't ask me why I know that). I guess "Pump" is pretty much what I had expected - straightforward, catchy hard rock, very "masculine" lyrics (for a lack of better words). Just what you'd expect from an Aerosmith album. I'm not a particular fan, but things come together on this album quite well. I will add "Young Lust", "Water Song/Janie's Got A Gun", and "Going Down/Love In An Elevator" to my playlist - the latter being a perfect example of a song with overtly masculine, borderline sexist lyrics that however is still somewhat catchy. 3/5 stars.

This is the musical equivalent of a good action movie. Don't worry about the plot, you're just there for the experience and the special effects! I bought this back in the day and played it a lot (and LOUD). Probably doesn't stand up to analysis too much, but its still enjoyable for me. Was always a harsh and compressed sounding record to listen to though. With the master tapes allegedly gone in the Universal Studios fire, it'll probably never get any better sadly. 3

Some classic songs here

good but carried by janies got a gun

Altså overraskende bra! Er noen gode sanger der assa

Listenable. Like the different musical interludes.

Since I just had Aerosmith the other day, even though they were from different decades, this album just felt like a continuation of the other one. That being said, if I was a bigger Aerosmith fan I would be very happy cause the band doesn't stray or try to be anything different than before. They are the same old reliable band they've always been, with a couple more hits.

Good but not my jam.

amazing album

This is quality cock rock, but it's still cock rock, which I don't think will ever elevate itself beyond, y'know, headbangin' party sounds and corny ballads. This is miles better than The Cult album, which was a pale imitation, but I have to assume this is on the list because Love In An Elevator is the hair metal eidolon. Janie's Got a Gun, on the other hand, sounds like someone had a stroke on a sound machine.

There was a time you couldn't escape Aerosmith, but it is catchy rock and roll.

3.5 it's a shame that Aerosmith practically ruled the radio back in the day.

The production on this album is top notch, every song sounds huge

It's conflicting; the raw masculinity and general horniness are almost too much here, but tracks such as "Love in an Elevator" and "Janie's Got a Gun" are incredible in their own right. Aerosmith clearly still had it well into the 80's, I guess there's no denying that. Whether or not you can bear this glam metal, cock rock, well that's up to you. I can't help but enjoy it (just a little).

Mixed feelings on this one. Its definitely technically skillful. And the hits are certainly hits. But some of the other songs are written to exemplify "Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll" to a cheesy extend (especially the sex part). Overall- some good, some bad

Hmmm. Going Down so funny. Dulcimer unexpected

More than surprised by this album. In fact, Aerosmith is consistently interesting as a band. Love in an Elevator is catchy as hell but the real show stopper is Water Song/Janie Got a Gun. It’s strange, it’s poignant, and iconic. This was a nice surprise and it prompted me to check out their other stuff. I would have given this a 4 but I found another Aerosmith album that I liked more. But this is really great.

Good energy!

sure! i like old aerosmith more but steven tyler is something special and that shines through on this album like it does on their earlier works

My third Aerosmith album and both previous albums have scored a single star due to their sleazy, immature and uncomfortable lyrics and themes I went into this one with a heavy heart but an open mind. It appears they grew up a bit. The stuff that made me feel like i needed a wash after listening had mostly gone and now its a bit more love based. You cant deny that they can write a pop hook and the playing is well done, with enough blues to cut the hair metal. Not one i'm going to come back to, but a definite high water mark for them.

Maybe it's just not my favorite album but I think their best songs must be on other albums. This was alright but nothing to write home about.

I liked the album overall! I think Aerosmith may have honestly peaked in the 70’s but this album had a couple bangers. I especially liked the Dulcimer song

Janey’s got a gun is such a weird song. They clearly NEEDED a hit and they just throw everything at it.

Standouts Love in an Elevator Janey's Got a Gun The Other Side

My first awareness of any song on this album was "Cheney's got a gun" jokes rip bozo. It's okay turn my mind off rock

Good album.

This was a nice palate cleanser of hard rock compared to some of the albums we've gotten lately. Pump includes some classic Aerosmith songs; "Janie's Got a Gun" is such a cool track in my eyes and who doesn't love "Love in an Elevator". Other than "What it Takes", nothing about the rest of the tracks really stand out to me but it's definitely a solid enough album to earn a 3. Top tracks: Janie's Got a Gun, Love in an Elevator, What it Takes

I like Toys in the Attic a lot better, but this one's still got a couple bangers. By 1989, Aerosmith were probably considered part of the old guard of rock and roll but they definitely answered the bell and outdid the likes of Poison, Motley Crue, etc. with this one. Arena Rock has never really been my thing but there's no disputing that Aerosmith did it really well.

Some great classic, but otherwise an eh album

Definitely a very Aerosmith album. I liked it more than Hotel California but less than Toys in the Attic. I had some fun with it, but it gets very generic sounding at times, like I’ve heard this before.

Standard

Guter, unterhaltsamer Rock.

good rockin album from a bunch of old rockers.

I can barely hear the lyrics. Just noise without any crisp clean sound to it, maybe bad bitrate idk.

Some good songs on here, but overall felt it was just above average at best.

They have done better than this

seriously-why is this on the list??? they have better albums. this is late 80's hair metal/glam/MTV promo'd videos.

Vibes: 4/5 Instruments: 3/5 Production: 3/5 Emotional Value: 3/5 Storytelling: 3/5 Album Cover: +0.5 Stand Outs: Going Down/Love In An Elevator, Water Song/Jaine’s Got a Gun Overall Rating: 3.3

I haven't reviewed any of the 7 Beatles albums, 6 Rolling Stones albums, 5 Led Zeppelin albums, or 4 Pink Floyd albums on this list, but this is my 2nd Aerosmith album in less than a month. As someone who lived through Aerosmith's resurgence in the wake of the movie Armageddon, I've had enough Aerosmith. And I swear to god if I get a Bon Jovi album next... Even casual Aerosmith fans will already know 1/2 of this album and the other half sounds essentially the same and will go down just as smooth. Aerosmith is basically the original version of Buckcherry - remember Buckcherry? It's just kinda raunchy hard rock party music and I really can't think of anything else to say about it. Aerosmith hits heard here: "Love In An Elevator" "Janie's Got A Gun" "What It Takes"

Not bad for an Aerosmith album. The lyrics are what you would expect from Steven Tyler. Corny, obnoxious, terrible, cheesy, you name it. Except Janie's Got A Gun. That one is really a highlight.

I remember listening to this when it first came out. It has probably their two biggest post-RunDMC songs with "Love in an Elevator" and "Jamie's Got a Gun." The rest of the album is ok, but not memorable.

Was looking forward to trying some Aerosmith. But its just not very fun.

Aerosmith feels very much like a product of its time (aka the 80s) now, but I can't deny that I still enjoy Love in an Elevator. The song, I mean.

Standard rock album, Steve Tyler has a good voice, some good songs some ok songs

This was an enjoyable listen. The songs were fun and were just nondescript dad rock. I wouldn’t seek this out but I wouldn’t turn it off if I heard it on

There are fun songs here, but goddamn if this isn't the horniest album ever made. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I think Aerosmith are somewhat of a one or two trick pony

Classic!

It’s good but it all sounds the same. A bit of variation would have improved the overall experience.

Sicher ein solides Rockalbum

Decent rock album

dudes rock

Baby shit

Definitely very Aerosmith. It was okay! Never realized how kind of bluegrass and country it was.

Horny hair metal written by 40 year olds but there are some hits on there and is some of the more enjoyable hair metal in my opinion. This record actually had a few instrumental moments that I enjoyed quite a bit.

I think this is why blues and blues rock is kind of dead. (though it is kind of making an underground comeback?). To me, it feels like Kurt Cobain heard this record and decided to do the exact opposite. And then the blues were dead for 30 years. Thanks Kurt. Thanks Steven Tyler. Honestly though.. I don't hate this. Its fabulously cheesy, but I think that's kind of the point. And for what it is, it works. A few songs did really stand out to me: Janie's Got a Gun, Dulcimer Stomp, and What it Takes were all pretty fun. I do like the blues influence, but this is definitely on the wrong side of appropriation. The thing is, is that it doesn't feel like they're ripping off BB King, its more like they're ripping off The Rolling Stones and making it fabulous. The 80s were weird.

Many times I appreciate variety between tracks within an album, but being Aerosmith’s 10th album they should have it narrowed down a bit more. Not my favorite but not awful, 2.75/5

Aerosmith is usually a solid choice in my book. Young Lust - 5/10. Not bad. Nothing special about it, but not bad. F.I.N.E. - 5/10. Not bad. Nothing special about it, but not bad. Going Down/Love in an Elevator - 8/10. Much more of the classic Aerosmith sound. Monkey on my Back - 6/10. More classic Aerosmith, but I can see why this one didn't get as much play. Water Song/Janie's Got a Gun - 8/10. Aerosmith in ballad mode is pretty great. Also, that guitar solo in the middle cooks. Dulcimer Stomp/The Other Side - 8/10. Dulcimer Stomp is a really fun opening. It's too bad that it gets cut off of the single so often. This is fun and the musicianship is class. My Girl - 6/10. Not bad, but not on the same level as Janie or Other Side. Don't Get Mad, Get Even - 6/10. Interesting to have a Didgeridoo at the beginning. Again, not bad, but not as good as the top tracks on the album. Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man - 6/10. Not bad, but not on the same level as Janie or Other Side. What It Takes - 8/10. Again, Aerosmith in ballad mode is excellent. Overall Rating - 3.30/5 (6.60/10). It is absolutely a fair criticism of Aerosmith to say that they are a Singles band not an Album band.

Inauthentic my ass.

I might be biased because this was the first Aerosmith album I bought when I was a kid. But I still think it rocks despite its flaws, and Joe Perry's riffs are always a blast. As others have said, not exactly musical poetry... but, I mean, you guys have seen Steven Tyler, haven't you?

Horny, radio-friendly, hair-band rock at its peak. Loud, slick, and built for FM airplay — exactly what you’d expect from late-’80s Aerosmith, for better or worse.

118/1089 “masturbating with a noose, now someone’s kicking out the chair” is an INSANE lyric the epitome of 80s american trucker rock. it was a good project, didn’t overstay it’s welcome and had a few that stood out to me: Young Lust, Monkey On My Back, What It Takes 59/100

Given some of the singles on here, I wasn't expecting this to be such a horny dude album, but considering it's Aerosmith, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. "Janie's Got A Gun" is one of my favorite songs and is far and away the standout on this album. "The Other Side" and "What It Takes" are also fantastic songs, and for what it is, "Love In An Elevator" is fun and enjoyable. No coincidence those all ended up being singles because they are far and away the best songs on the album. The rest are young girls being lusted over by creepy older men songs and whatever the fuck "Voodoo Medicine Man" was supposed to be. All I know is a band of white dudes have no business singing that song. It was also just a bad song. I actually expected to rate this 5 stars because I generally enjoy Aerosmith, but maybe they're just a singles band for me. I expected to give this 5 stars, but it's getting 3 from me. If I could give half stars this would be a 3.5, but despite how much I love "Janie's Got A Gun" it just couldn't bring this album up to a 4 for me.

What it Takes es una favorita mía, Live in an Elevator es muy entretenida y The Other Side conocí en una compilación que lanzaron en los 90, pero el resto del disco es Hard Rock clásico que no debería estar en esta lista.

Kinda shit but still enjoyable

Rösten! Några standoutlåtar. Annars ganska rak och fantasilös amerikansk hårdrock. Trea

LOL I don't remember ever seeing the cover of this album. I would have loved that in 1989. The return of Aerosmith! I was a big fan of their first greatest hits album in middle school, owing largely to Run-DMC and peer pressure. I still like that old stuff but never really got into this Bon Jovi-esque turn for them. The videos were great though - I was, after all, a teenaged boy. It never occurred to me at the time how creepy it was for Steven Tyler to have his own daughter portrayed that way. Ah, youth. But that all came later, I suppose... Pump - let's see, I only recognize a couple of track titles here. And all of them are just because of MTV. Had never heard the "Dulcimer Stomp" intro to "The Other Side," that was kind of cool. I love how they just ran out of lyrics in "Don't Get Mad, Get Even" lol. There are some interesting ideas here (probably mostly from the brain of Jim Vallance) but this is ultimately just bland late-'80s MTV rock. When I scanned the track titles, "What It Takes" did not look familiar to me, but when the lyrics started I was singing along - I know this song! Bumped it up from a 2 to a 3. (Also, never having listened to this album I didn't know that "F.I.N.E.-fine" was a callback to another song on the album.)

Solid effort from the rockers. 3.5 stars.

Tasaisen tehokasta klassista rock'n'rollia.

Their versus are way better than their choruses

This sounds like an Aerosmith album. Neither great, nor terrible. The album after this had more hits, but I like the singles off this one. Janie's Got a Gun is the best one on here. This is a middle of the road album. 3

Just what you would expect, nothing more / nothing less. The radio hits held this one together.

Hard rock un peu quelconque. Comme on se disait Félix et moi, si on voulait écouter un tel style et faire un peu de fist pumping, j’irais vers AC/DC bien avant ça!

It's late-stage Aerosmith. Sure, it rocks out. But once they made their comeback with Permanent Vacation, the quality declined. It's F.I.N.E. -- but nothing out of the ordinary.

A smattering of decent stuff (i love what it takes!) but not their finest. Mid to high three

I liked this more than I thought I would. Probably a 3.5, but I'm rounding down because of Steven Tyler's skeeviness.

It's a really great sounding record but I'm still not sure that Aerosmith is for me(about halfway through at this point). The songs are mostly excellent but something about their brand of sexually turbocharged blues-rock just doesn't hit for me. Just finished the album. In my opinion, it's fantastic for an Aerosmith record but they still aren't my cup of tea. Might still give it a second listen just to see how I feel afterwards.

281/1089 - I think it's slightly better than Toys in the Attic but this was really forgettable. Now I'm interested to see how long this streak of 3s will be.

I don't think Aerosmith aspired to anything higher than horny rock so my expectations rose no higher than that. I'm not really an Aerosmith fan but I thought this album was fun and I enjoyed it. 3.5/5

There's a time and a place for generic shitrock - and 8AM at work while drinking a coffee is not it. That being said, not bad. Solid 3.

Steven Tyler makes a pterodactyl sound in Monkey On My Back.

young lust- 4 fine- 4 going down- 4 monkey on my back- 4 water song- 4 dulcimer stomp- 4 my girl- 4 dont get mad get even- 4 hoodoo- i like the first bit but not the rest 4 what it takes- 4

I dream of having the confidence exuded by these songs

Nostalgic to listen to. Hits lack depth but are super fun. The rest is mostly filler and I just don’t need to hear 40 year olds and their corny lyrics about sex. Not sorry to listen to it again and I appreciate the significance of the ways this relaunched Aerosmith.

Kinda cheesy a lot of the time but quite good

Musically complex? No. Lyrically complex? Not unless you're a 13 year old who just discovered jerking off. Fun listen? Absolutely. As someone raised on classic rock, this is the quintessential 80s rock album: calling it complex in any way would be an a horrific mistake, but you can't help banging your head with a massive grin during most of the album. The simplicity does wear thin, especially towards the last 3 tracks, but by and large, it's a perfect album for what it's trying to do, though, admittedly, those aspirations for itself are frighteningly low. A fun listen that I see myself coming back to a few times a year. Best: Young Lust Worst: Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man Liked songs: 7/10, 70% High 3

Listenable.

This is the second aerosmith album i'm listening to and it seems to be the thing with this band that i only like one track on the album. I liked hoodoo / voodoo medicine man and the other tracks were meh. 3 stars since there was something to like

Ain't too proud to say this ain't bad

Classic rock. They have better albums imo.

I was leaning towards a 4 halfway through the album, but I'm really not an Aerosmith fan. Maybe it is Steven Tyler's voice, maybe it was overplayed on the radio, maybe a combo. it's probably a 4 but I don't like Aerosmith.

I think I was anticipating this one to be better. Janie's Got A Gun and Love In An Elevator are popular rock hits, but nothing else was engaging beyond that.

This eked out a 3 despite my disdain for Aerosmith. I don't like his high pitched voice. I'm not generally a fan of the southern rock sound. Glam rock/stadium rock makes my skin crawl. But this album is decent no matter how much I want to hate it. Not good, but decent. The last 3 tracks were the best on the album, IMO.

Pretty good and solid, but like Motörhead yesterday, I'm just not that into Aerosmith in general.

Never realized how horny Aerosmith was before this list. Decent hard rock

Never been a big fan of their music. Thisl seems very juvenile. Raunchy for the sake of being raunchy.

I was talking with someone a while back who surprised me with the assertion that he thought Aerosmith didn't really get the kind of love he thought you'd expect for a group that has been so big for so many years. But when I look at the average rating for an album like TOYS IN THE ATTIC and see that it's pretty comparable to average ratings for albums by groups like Supergrass, Moby, Beck, and The Jesus and Mary Chain, I have to concede he probably has a point. And I think it's probably albums from this PUMP era that diminish their reputation. Big hits and Grammy winners of their time, albums like this showed that Aerosmith could certainly still play in their 40s, but they hadn't really evolved (especially lyrically) in nearly two decades (at the time) of existence. They never actually did, so they're often seen as entertaining, but ultimately frivolous, especially when you know them through videos for songs like "Janie's Got a Gun" (highly pretentious) and "Love in an Elevator" (just silly). Unless you're a long-time hardcore fan, it IS hard to take them seriously.

Petty mediocre expression of corporate rock only saved from 2 stars by a couple songs and the skill of the band otherwise blah.

Absolute masterpiece

Not bad, some of the songs were quite good and had a good vibe to them. I liked Janie's Got a Gun. The rest were okay. 3/5 stars.

Hehe, the trucks are fucking.

Young Lust 2.8 F.I.N.E. 2.7 Going Down/Love in an Elevator 3 Monkey on My Back 2.9 Water Song/Janie's Got a Gun 3.1 Dulcimer Stomp/The Other Side 3 My Girl 2.8 Don't Get Mad, Get Even 2.7 Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man 2.8 What It Takes 2.5 Score:2.83

Not a big fan but entertaining at least.

Day 33 Big dumb rock music, always a place for big dumb rock music 7/10 Highlights Love in an elevator The other side What it takes

Meh, it’s ok I guess but it’s just not my thing. I can get why people would dig it though.

I don’t have anything to really say it’s pretty good 6/10

Pretty much what I was expecting.

Exactly what you’d expect

I don’t know if I’m tired of having heard the hits hundreds of times or just tired of the “bad boys” shit. In any case, I’m just tired of it.

I can't get into Aerosmith. Good songs but intentionally cool and without soul.

very 80's rock

High pace, great riffs and a feel good album.

I had it on in the background so didn’t focus too much but it didn’t bother me

# Album Name: Pump # Artist: Aerosmith # Rating: 3/5 # Comments: Not a bad listen. Generic american rock with a couple of good tracks. # Top Tunes: Janies got a gun / love in an elevator # Would I listen to it again? Maybe

Du Aerosmith, ça s'écoute bien mais on n'est pas surpris encore une fois. Je ne connaissais pas cet album, plutôt cool mais bon j'ai rien appris de nouveau sur ce groupe que je connaissais déjà.

Album sympa, groupe sympa.

cock rock, no sock

Comeback album of the 70s rock band.

MTV rock n'roll. Never really got on with Steve Tyler's vocals which is why I never got into Aerosmith. Good loud blues rock but ultimately the songs are forgettable even if the Love In A Elevator harmony chorus sticks

Some belters. Pleasing proper rock. Toyed with 4 star.

Day 14 is the first album I am absolutely dreading having to listen to start to finish. How dare a British organization choose this to represent 80s American rock! Where's the Dü for fuck's sake. Album opens with a 40 year old Steven Tyler singing about young lust. Just awful. I'm shocked that I can sorta enjoy listening to this. Again, it's a band I adored during my first phase of music appreciation which we'll call the Limewire Classic Rock/Kanye era. I haven't bothered with Aerosmith much since I was 17, half my lifetime ago. Pop Metal, which I don't really think is a thing, is a worst genre for me for sure. This might be the peak of Pop Metal though. I could almost give "Janie's Got a Gun" 4 stars but it's too long and repetitive. I'm sorta really interested in examining the singles for the albums on this list. "Janie's Got a Gun" has a single edit that's just 10 seconds shorter than the album version but also a clean version for radio that comes in over 72 seconds shorter than that and will probably prove to be my favorite version of the song. Similarly to how the much shorter single version of "Love in an Elevator" would be my favorite. Interesting that Hollan-Dozier-Holland successfully sued for songwriting credit on "The Other Side". Hidden track at the end gets 5 stars but it ain't really Aerosmith.

"Fine" classic rock. a few tunes I knew already. Stephen Tyler creeps me out

Aerosmith is simultaneously the most overachieving and the most underachieving band in history, depending on which song you're listening to.

3.5 stars. Raunchy hard rock/hair metal with a few hits ("Love in an Elevator", "Janie's Got a Gun"). Steven Tyler's singing/screaming range is impressive, but I don't really care for this style of rock.

Really not good outside of major hits.

Unnecessarily horny.

It’s dudes singing about love and sex. It can feel a bit generic at times, almost like a parody of hard rock. It doesn’t sound very 80s to me, and I appreciate all the instruments I’m hearing (how many albums can you think of that feature didgeridoo?). I love the little dialogue intro before “Love in an Elevator” which is also one of the top tracks. I adore songs that sound upbeat and accessible, yet tell a dark, unsettling story when you actually listen to the lyrics, so “Janie’s Got a Gun” is another winner here. I think the closer, “What it Takes” is the absolute highlight for me, with its soaring chorus and bluesy ache. Don’t know if the album will ever make it into my rotation, but there’s some great singles. Could grow on me in time. I only know Aerosmith’s hits so it’s a fantastic first foray into the deeper cuts of the boys from Boston. Also my wife hates Aerosmith, so it’s going to be a middle of the road 3/5.

Pretty good, spawned lots of hits of course.

Enjoyable

70s Aerosmith>90s Aerosmith

Love in an elevator Jaines got a gun

Fun loving drug-fueled cheesy late 80s rock pop. Hard to dislike a lot of what’s here. Also hard to take it too seriously when it comes to its ranking among the best albums. Steven Tyler’s voice is strong, the riffs are powerful and they do a decent job of switching it up. I have always loved the slowed down “tell me what it takes” and it’s bluegrass outro.

Sigh. Aerosmith became a parody of themselves at some point in the 90s, but definitely Steven Tyler by the early 00s. This album started them on that course, the production is so bloated, it’s like they were trying to go for their version of “Pet Sounds.” “Going Down/Love in an Elevator” still slaps though.

This was F.I.N.E.

Fav: Whatever It Takes Least Fav: My Girl It’s Aerosmith, it’s ok, it’s basic

Parts of me hate this. Parts of me think it's decent. So cheesy and shallow, but mostly in a bad way. Sometimes it's pretty funny, but it is hard to distinguish the intention. Idk this is not my genre at all, but I'm feeling generous and will give it a 3.

Sometimes grating and cringe and I want to give it less than a one. Other times, I admit, I get swept up in it and find myself rocking out. It has two undeniable classics and some interesting transitions between songs. But it also has a lot of harmonica and ugly trucks on the cover. Was this the beginning of the end for rock? Hard to say. Going middle of the road on this one.

Pretty standard stadium rock, and likeable enough. The opening number, Young Lust, is a fireball number with a vocal hook the singer obviously really liked given how much it's repeated. The song is memorable and earwormy, and it doesn't stop there. It turns out, though, that most songs here can be described that way. Everything here is driven, upbeat, glamorous, slick. Very much imitative of Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and other contemporaries. And they weren't like this with their 70s output. This is a response to the stadium/glam-metal movement throughout the 80s, which I think really takes away from the album's historical value. Anything made to appease the masses will always be overshadowed by a group at the forefront of a genre. I've never appreciated bands who follow trends for the heck of it, because it goes wonky more often than not. The guitars, though, are great. The solo lines in Going Down/Love In An Elevator must sound incredible love, plus of course the high echoey vocal harmony during the chorus. And there are a few tracks that stand out like a healthy thumb (because they're unexpectedly good). One of them is Water Song/Janie's Got A Gun. The addition of wind instruments and other acoustic elements, plus several sections of varying texture/volume, works wonders here. Dulcimer Stomp/The Other Side is also a standout, for its heavily acoustic intro and its melody that kind of serves as an development of the previous track. Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man has a distinctive intro, at least, but falls prey to a fairly anonymous/acceptable/crowd-pleasing 80s stadium atmosphere thereafter. Still decent, though. Weird choice to include an accordion and a didgeridoo, among others. I guess that was Aerosmith's attempt at pushing the limits of the genre? Probably would've been the same quality without them. 3/5 Key tracks: Going Down/Love In An Elevator, Water Song/Janie's Got A Gun, Dulcimer Stomp/The Other Side

Not as good as the other Aerosmith album (Rocks) that I've already been served up. It sounded a little bit too polished for me. Not at all 'bad' though, so 3 stars feels about right.

I vastly prefer their toxic-twins days, Toys in the Attic in particular. Compared with their early work this one sounds like what it probably was - an effort to sell CDs and concert tickets more than an effort to create interesting art. That said, their songwriting skills are impressive, and Janie's Got a Gun, as a song, belongs in the conversation with their best work. Unfortunately the FM Synth instrumentation on the track has not aged well. All in, I won't be listening to the album, but when I'm out and about and one of the hits comes on a playlist or radio, I'll smile and tune in.

There are better examples of this genre for the time, but it’s not terrible. Janie’s Got A Gun was pretty good. Needs more Run DMC!

It was fine. Simpsons: Yes

70s art rock. Very weird. Experimental. Distorted vocals over eerie beats.

För allan del.

Aerosmith at the top of their game, a one of a kind album. I had several memories associated with this album. But, one I would be ok not listening to again.

#17 Pump ~ Aerosmith I mean, it's an Aerosmith record that does what it's meant to do: produce hard rock. This time though, with Aerosmith in it's mainstream period that they will continue to carry until the mid 90s, this is probably the album which feels the most cohesive and enjoyable, as Aerosmith indulge in their love of classic rock. Tyler sings pretty good on this one. The drums have kick. The guitar riffs are pretty catchy. And they more or less do this for every song, which you can't really complain about, but it makes writing something about this album a bit difficult. It's just nice hard pop rock, and probably their apex mainstream-wise. Verdict: Decent stuff to pump onto the player.

I’ve always been perplexed by the Aerosmith thing, but I met them in the 90s when that music video with Liv Tyler came out and even in that proto-internet age everyone found out she was Steven Tyler’s daughter and was like ew gross, so they’ve always had a higher bar to overcome for me than other bands.

Pretty silly, bluesy, not gonna last with me but man did it feel like rock and roll from the year 1989. That's for sure.

Parece bom em filmes, só gostei de um

It was decent, aerosmith are always slightly sleazy but we'll try not to hold it against them too much.

Perfectly cromulent midlevel Aerosmith.

Not offensive, just a bit of stereotypical hair metal. I don't have a lot of thoughts about this album, or Aerosmith in general, but I liked the Other Side and the ballad.

Not really my cup of tea but had some decent rock tracks on there

It fine, I guess.

Didn't love it. Lots of nostalgia from this period.

just some horny boys playing their guitars and having some fun

I suffer from overexposure to Aerosmith but I can acknowledge that they are a good band, if you like that sort of thing.

Album from another time that really put Aerosmith on the map. Doesn’t quite pump it up like it used to…

A fine Aerosmith album. I don't think it's their best, and it's too much standard pop rock to fully appreciate it. I like the better songs, but it just doesn't connect. A quality 3 star album, but not deserving of 4 stars - Noisy! But also upbeat - Fun first song, lets see where it goes from here. I don't think this is their best album so idk - Not quite shouting, but not my favorite vocals so far - "Love in an Elevator" is more like it! good song. What I want to be hearing in rock music - Feels like he's singing to a stadium. I've never really heard that in a studio album before - More poppy than I was expecting honestly. Doesn't fully connect with me

Aerosmith is a weird band. Their biggest hit came 25 years after their most famous song, and it's a love ballad for a movie starring the lead singer's daughter, who wasn't even born when Dream On came out. This is an odd album choice, since it doesn't particularly stand out as Aerosmith's best, most interesting, most popular, or most acclaimed album. I guess you could call this the start of an upswing, but I'll take Get a Grip over this, even if it is a "sellout" album. I'd also go for their first two albums. Still, it's solid.
