Reviews (page 2 of 13)

Pretty good. Never heard of bossa nova in life. Then I found out it’s from Brazil. Thought “wow Americans really took after international artists back then?” Then I found out it’s basically a copy and paste situation. Still amazing

I know nothing about jazz, but I know this is a massive vibe. The samba jazz combo is wicked. Will listen over and over and over. Man what a groove.

yall mind if a white boy speak a little español?

YES. Inject this into my veins. As a drummer who plays a litany of genres, from 90s rock covers to CCM to funk to heavy prog... one of my absolute favorites is bossa nova. It's just so effortlessly cool. And this album - especially the lead track "Desafinado" - played a huge role in propelling the genre to the mainstream in the west. Stan, Charlie and co. are locked in and the resulting vibes are off the charts.

LOVE THIS. 4.5/5 rounds to 5

oh my stars i came, i fucking luv jazz dude nghh

Smooth sounds, great tunefulness, musicianship, never gets boring, fresh

Me gustó

Listening to this after a heavy metal album was like sliding into a pool on a hot summer day

Luv it

I like this!

I think good music is music that can make the listener take on a character, and this album made me feel like a more organised, complete version of myself in the future. But it also took me back in time to listening to my piano teacher play through glass walls with her eyes closed. This album has all of the components of jazz that made me obsessed with it when I was younger and I got really sentimental listening to it

This was like a fine dining experience excepts it's family owned and does the best food you've ever tasted. The sound was rich and smooth and a combination of the things I love from jazz and salsa.

y si, es muy bueno e icónico

👌👌👌 smooth, groovy, pleasant

Unreal, no notes. Jazz AND samba! Listened maybe 3 or 4 times great stuff

Just lovely.

Just the perfect background album

e luxo so <3

Fine 60s bossa nova. Just missing Gilberto.

this is fun, bossa nova is FUNN

I prefer Getz / Gilberto but this is still an all timer in my books.

I guess I love samba music?

Immédiatement oui

Incredibly enjoyable to listen to - just took me away to a nice, relaxing place where the sun shines, the olives are delicious, the wine fresh and I am way cooler than normal. Will revisit.

My kind of jazz

Großartig! Ein Meilenstein in der Fusion von Jazz und Latin

Delightful

this is the type of album you'll love to listen to at cafes. a musical jam - not too harsh and melodious overall. great as a background music for anything- homework, doing your makeup, studying, or reading. Must try if youre looking for soft, a bit sessual (?) jazz. loved it ! 10/10

Very consistent album, with some top notch jazz. Very cool jazz. I think I had this playing three loops over the easter dinner

timeless

efectivamente, es musica 10/10 y god.

me gusto mucho

Samba + Jazz, what's not to like. Favorite track: samba de uma nota so other picks: desafinado, o pato, samba triste

good for study

Heel fijn jazz album. Bossa nova tinten! Goed

As advertised, it's Jazz played over Samba rhythms. Each song is easy to listen to and gets into a nice groove. This might be a new favourite for interesting background music.

Very good ambient music to put in the background for a cozy evening or a chill night party with a bunch of friends. Would recommend !

Anna and I recognized some songs from choir/band

oh how i love jazz!! definitely keeping this in my saved albums 😍

They could never make me hate you bossa nova.

One of the best albums of all time!

wow i loved this so much. i love jazz and bossa nova type music and this album just gives something you'd sip cocktails to and sit in a bar and dress all elegant. this is actually the first like piece of music that i was able to listen to and do homework at the same time without getting distracted.

I loved this album. Stan Getz is in top form and the songs are just so cool. What a vibe. My only criticism is that, other than in the first song, Charlie Byrd’s guitar got lost in the mix sometimes - even on solos.

JAZZ ON A FRIDAY. What a treat!

i don’t feel up to rating this album, i’m not experienced enough

Absolutely great and I’m not a jazz fan.

Wow what a beautiful relaxing album to listen to, to start my day. I love Jazz and Samba, and this was a quality example of the genre. I would love to start this way every day and would highly recommend this album

no lo escuche

Loved it. Five stars.

Whether played in the background or listened to intently, this album brings joy

I’m at an age where the old school world music and jazz make me extremely happy.

loved this album!

amo el jazz y el latino

After listening to this album I am no longer afraid to get old.

I loved this instrumental album. So nice to listen to, and it's great as background music, too.

Una jodida joya

Oh yes, this what jazz is about. Huge record. Top tier musicianship here.

Excelente, de principio a fin

So good. I love Stan Getz.

Labai patiko.

This rocks, man. Even more than the Getz/Gilberto album which is more famously known and came after. What I like more about this Getz Bossa-nova record is without a doubt Charlie Byrd's inclusion. The classical guitar has more of a presence along with the saxophone and I love it. A pristine record showcasing the fusion of jazz and samba (duh - 9/10, 5/5 on this scale)

I was very lucky to have Atomic Basie, Tito Puente, and this album. One right after another. I'm grooving like there is no tomorrow.

I really like this album! Very light and refreshing very much samba but not overly samba sounding.

That's what I am talking about. Such an easy listen and soso good.

I love jazzy instrumentals so this one is a 5 for me.

boyyy ts fire

Incredible, listening to this music made me so happy. The wide stereo scope allows both Getz and Byrd to shine. The rythm section is also great, with super steady bass lines that perfectly suport the melodies, and drum patterns which I could never in my life hope to replicate which don't get in the way.

I didn’t get a lot of exposure to jazz in my upbringing, but once I went off to college it wasn’t long before I was introduced to bossa nova. It seemed to be everywhere and I immediately loved it. Stan Getz and the incredible tone of his saxophone playing were my gateway into loving jazz writ large. This album was released two years before the massive ‘Getz/Gilberto’ but the music is every bit as great, perhaps better. The restraint and coolness in Getz’s playing and the amount of expression in it gives me chills, especially in “Samba Triste”, but throughout the entire album. I think this is kind of jazz for people who don’t like jazz in the same way that ‘Time Out’ by the Dave Brubeck Quartet is, which I think more than anything is a testament to how enjoyable it is.

This is THE STUFF 5/5

10/10. good jazz songs.

💯💯💯

Honestly very soothing , nice to listen to while working. You can never go wrong with jazz it’s always relaxing to listen to while completing tasks especially (at least from my point of view). The lack of lyrics made it seem pretty bland but for me it just made the experience better as we get to listen to the instruments better

Such a great album! You could call it a prequel of the Getz/Gilberto album released a year later. These two albums were on repeat a couple of summers ago. Easy 5 stars for me.

Smooth as all hell.

Gotta love Stan Getz

The 1,001 book mentions that Stan Getz's collaboration with Astrud Gilberto was more popular than this—but whereas Getz/Gilberto sounded like different versions of the same song, this feels more differentiated to me. Sure, you can say the basics are the same across the seven songs, but the interplay of Getz's sax and Charlie Byrd's guitar is awesome. It doesn't sound repetitive to me; this is great from start to finish.

Favorite album so far.

Chill album. I would listen it by the fireplace with glass of wine in my hands and a cat on my lap.

Lovely and relaxing

Great focus tracks! Many saxophones was had

Jazz Samba is just about everything I could ask for in a jazz album. It's smooth, relaxing, and puts me in a good mood (in other words, it's bossa nova.) The whole album is consistent in sound, and I just really enjoy it. "Samba de Uma Nota So" ended up being my favorite track off of the album, although "Samba Triste" came really close to being so. Call me a jazz casual (that's what I am after all), but I found this album extremely enjoyable. Favorite Song: "Samba de Uma Nota So"

This is what's great about this project. I wouldn't have listened to this on my own--not normally a jazz fan. But I thought it was fantastic!

Melhor do álbum: "O Pato". Pior do álbum: "Samba Dees Days".

Totally tubular, it's on my playlist AND one of the songs is my ringtone

Bossa nova is so cool that it makes the listener feel just as cool. After a lot of crap that has recently appeared on my list, this was like breathing really fresh air. THIS music is how you properly chill while still forgetting about how f'ing cold it is outside.

Absolute banger. I love it so much. I completely understand why this kicked off the bossa nova craze for American audiences.

felt very groovy i like. these are not serious reviews do not take this seriously

There is not a bad song here! This is so interesting and so enjoyable! I loved this album so much!!! Not too much to say! This was fantastic. Everything is interesting, cohesive, and so great! Liked Songs: The entire album

Another insane Getz W. Don't even need the wife on this one. 10/10

Looooove

My style of jazz

i‘m new to jazz, pretty good though 10/10

Classic 60s party soundtrack. Iconic.

Stan Getz & Charlie Byrd – Jazz Samba Jazz Samba is a masterclass in subtlety and technical fusion. While casual listeners often relegate Bossa Nova to the background, a focused listen reveals a level of musicianship that is nothing short of magnificent. The "conversation" between Stan Getz’s breathy, melodic saxophone and Charlie Byrd’s intricate, nylon-string guitar work is seamless. It is a record that manages to be both deeply relaxing and intellectually stimulating, proving that music doesn't need to be loud or aggressive to be "heavy." A timeless achievement in cross-cultural collaboration and a definitive 5/5 discovery that rewards the listener for giving it their full attention.

Such a pretty album

amazing album of bossa nova, would recommend and listen to again. Added them all to my Bossa Nova album. Its very relaxing and all the songs are amazing.

Дуже приємний заспокійливий звук love cunty jazzz мені аж хочеться танцювать як мамочка in her mid 40s

I can’t really judge the world music albums but they all sound great

very jazzy and chill- not something i would normally pick but i loved it

THE SAX!!!!! I'm in love AMAZING album, I loved every second of it. It’s definitely going into my focus playlist

Lovely. Jazz I like. It'll put a sway in your shoulders and a bounce in your head. I wish THIS had been the jazz Stan Getz played at the Village Vanguard. My Rating: 5/5

I loved this album. It will be a joy to add to the rotation

Really enjoyed it.

Early Sunday morning. Smiling a new smile after happiness lay dormant for days. Cleaning up. Starting fresh. Sun is shining. Nothing better than a horn and an upright bass.

I love this album. The movement throughout is so nice. It doesnt get overwhelming or drag out. It was a real nice change from the other artists the algorithm generated.

Great one I’d never heard. Downloaded it right away.

Great bossa nova music. Perfect for a summer day.

Love samba, love jazz. This album combines the two! Amazing listen and knew the songs from the samba genre. Viva o pato!

opening track got me hooked from the first few seconds. loved it. couldnt stop listening all day

I love some Latin Jazz. This album hits so much of what I like about the genre. I feel like I'm relaxing on a beach in the Caribbean every time I listen to this album. Best Songs: Desafinado, Samba Dees Days, E Luxo So, Worst Songs: NA

REALLYYYY good wow. the brass is so sexy and exciting omd. and it works so well with the acoustic guitar! so much life behind this project

Awesome album, do I like jazz? So smooth and calming and allows my brain to think! Definitely a top album for me

Good jazzm

Yesss I love the instrumentals

Who actually dislikes Bossa Nova? This album just makes you very optimistic and upbeat. The album flows nicely from one song into another and before you know it, it unfortunately is over already. Could listen to this over and over again. 5/5

Delightful start to finish.

Really nice! I especially love Charlie's guitar parts

I mean hell yeah

I love me some Stan Getz, this is just so pleasant and listenable, I played it through twice. Great musicianship to make some lovely sunny tunes.

10 seconds in and I know this will be 5 stars. Need I say more? Full album downloaded.

NEED to listen to more bossa nova this rules

Delicious classics that send us directly to a reality where hearts can be light and summers never-ending.

Great album ! Loved it. Diverse tracks, nice vibe.

Lovely album

Dig this.

5 stans

Yuuuuup phenomenal. It’s the perfect length and no two tunes feel the same but they all feel great. Perfect for a walk outside on a cold day. The only reason I checked the album length was because I hoped it wouldn’t end.

I love bossa nova.

I LOVE JAZZ

I’d never heard this album before, but from the cover and the very first note, I instantly knew — this is a five-star classic. Straight into the collection. The opener, “Desafinado,” starts playing and I immediately recognize the melody — so that’s what this song is called! It’s an instrumental album, and I love music that leaves enough space in your head to think. The sound is timeless, crystal clear — hard to believe it was recorded in 1962. The stereo mix is wonderful: that silky saxophone on the left, Charlie Byrd’s effortlessly confident guitar on the right. The guitar, really, is the quiet star of the record. It’s an album that fits almost any mood — a relaxed evening on the couch, dinner with someone you love, or a solo walk through the city with headphones on.

Jazz. Nice

Listened to this a couple days ago on a gorgeous day, windows down, coffee in hand, etc. One of the best records ever made. The perfect balance between vibe and virtuosity, neither getting in the way of the other.

4 or 5

A classic.

Classic blassic plassic

Awesome. Such great jazz

Love me some jazz

It was good

One of the best jazz albums in my opinion

This is the kind of album that makes me miss being a musician. You can feel the synchronicity between the members of the ensemble - a perfect example of the difference between playing a song and making music. I'd say this is a great pickup for a vinyl collection, but really it's the sort of music that can be played in any format so long as it's played through good speakers.

Smooth and groovy.

I needed this

Spectacular. This is going in immediate rotation. My only critique is the oppose of every other critique I've had: it isn't long enough.

It sounds great. Very hard to give detailed notes or comments to. I put it on three times and each time didn't even notice the time pass.

O Pato is very nice. The stereo mixing on Samba Triste. This was such an all around pleasant listen. I spent longer than I needed to trying to think of a reason not to give it 5.

Damn this is smooth. What a treat. The sax responds to the guitar, and together they create this effortless joy that just fills the room. What a ride. Pure joy. Spins: 3 Playlist Additions: - Desafinado - Samba Dees Days - O Pato - Samba Triste - Samba De Uma Nota So - E Luxo So - Bahia

Arrested Development type shit ❤️

This is an amazingly good bossa nova album.

fantastic little bossa nova jazz album

"Jazz Samba" is a bossa nova album by American jazz saxophonist Stan Getz and American jazz guitarist Charlie Byrd. The album signaled the beginning of the beginning of the bossa nova craze in the US. Getz is the featured soloist with tracks arranged by Byrd. Other musicians included Keter Betts (bass), Joe Byrd (bass, guitar), Buddy Deppenschmidt (drums) and Bill Reichenbach (drums). The album had excellent reviews and made it to #1 on the US Billboard Pop Album Chart. The album opens with "Desafindo," a song composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Newton Mendonça. Bass strings, brush drums and percussion open the song. Byrd enters with a light sax bossa nova melody. Subtle guitar. A guitar solo, a bass jam and a lovely sax solo. A ticking percussion begins "Samba Triste," a song by Braden Powell and Billy Bianco. Byrd with a more Spanish-style guitar. A more slow sultry sax. This time, only a guitar solo. Another Jobim and Newton song "Samba de uma Nota Só" kicks off the second side. A more danceable bossa nova beat. An underlying guitar. Byrd is let loose a bit with some improvisational sax. The guitar and bass are also featured in solos and there's some really nice interplay between the sax and guitar and bass. Chill, relaxing and excellent musicianship. A bossa nova base beat with flairs of jazz. There's sax, guitar and bass solos with the sax getting the majority. The sax carries the melody and is responsible the improvisational parts. The underlying guitar shows styles of country, Spanish flamenco and bossa nova. This is a high level album and it's easy to see why it was so popular and started a musical craze.

Belle vibes too mood mi ha fatto concentrare quindi massimi voti

❤️❤️❤️

Pleasant, smooth, enjoyable

I enjoyed this album

spectaculo

Love this one - have it on vinyl

As a matter of course, I don't listen to Jazz. And then I listen to Stan Getz, and I am amazed all over again. Why can't I embrace this fabulous music?

This album put me in a really good mood. Bossa nova, Jazz! It was a really nice change from the last album we were given (looking at you, R.E.M. Boo! Hiss!). Personally, I have a dislike for Saxaphone outside of 90s Punk/Ska. But, this album is turning me around. There was a nice mixture of parts within each song. Moments where I literally shouted out loud: "Yes!" And, 33 minutes in length. Nothing felt drawn out. No overtly long 'squibbly jazzy do' parts. Just a nice mixture of good songs. I really want to give it a 5. Can I? This is what this is experience is all about! I just wish we got a few more inbetween. 5 Stars.

why he say battered old bird like that

hot fire super hot

Behind the gorgeous cover art is an album of Bossa Nova delights! Over 30 minutes of this flirty, breezy, foreign yet instantly familiar exciting music that would soon captivate America not long before The Beatles took over America and we yanks never let go. Unlike say a Miles Davis album Jazz Samba sounds dated but wonderfully so! Imagine to how many hip cocktail/dinner parties this music provided the songtrack to while the guests delighted in the missus' wild new avocado appetizers? I can't even!

I love the sound of Getz's tenor sax. It's so smoothe and his playing seems effortless. I'm usually not a fan of jazz guitar, but Byrd's playing is so interesting and paired well with Getz. I'm looking forward to hearing this again. Liked Songs Added: Desafinado Samba De Uma Nota So Bahia

yeah i really really like this actually

Absolutely loved this album. Amazing music and musicians.

Great, relaxing

10 Gotta be! Never heard it before but listened to 3 time this weekend and it feels perfect in every situation for me, a new fave

I love this kind of jazz because it sounds like vacation versus a smokey downtown bar.

Jazz Samba is heat. Already knew Desafinado but the whole album is a great vibe and will have you gliding throughout the crib

Marvelous

The fact that I'm listening to this album on a Monday in my office at work seems sacrilegious. I should be by the ocean, with a cool drink, somewhere around late afternoon or early evening while listening to this. It kind of makes me really angry that I'm not, but the smooth vibes are keeping it all in check. I think Samba Triste is my favorite. Just great guitar and sax play. I'm going to put it on repeat so I don't blow a gasket over the fact that this album hit on a damn Monday instead of Saturday. I will also be revisiting this with that afore mentioned drink in hand this coming Saturday evening...

Nice easy jazz.

Liked this album a great deal

Immaculate vibe! Hard to beat.

Disclosure: I have listened to this album many times so I am extremely biased. Stan Getz was one of my gateway artists into Jazz/Bossa and a timeless favorite to put on for dinner parties. I'm not going to analyze this one because its frankly I wouldn't do it justice. It's a solid 5/5 with no comments from me.

This album was great. I recognized Charlie Byrd but didn't recognize the other artist. Every single song was great. I love bossa Nova

Pleasant!

impeccable and Immediate bossa nova, a case in which my inability to articulate much ab the music doesnt feel like because its beyond my grasp (tho ofc i didnt follow every nuance or whatever) but because it feels so self-evident. beautiful, patient, but economical delivery of some rly gorgeous melodies from some absurdly great musicians. i dont encounter getz often but im always taken aback by the warmth and joy of his saxophone. "background music" in the best way possible...as uninsistent as it is interesting, a level of cool confidence capable of evoking all these little waves of emotion. a great record to just Fill Your Ears.

A mais pura maestria!

Timed just right: sunday morning with a slight hangover and sunshine. great album all tracks solid. ready to listen again.

5/5 - I needed to hear this because I could put it on repeat all day. Admittedly, on first listen, I wouldn’t be able to tell this apart from any of a thousand other albums in this genre, but this hooked me. “Desafinado” and “Samba Dees Days” were my favorite tracks, but I enjoyed it the whole way through. Guitar playing was fantastic.

This is my third bossa nova album and I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m a fan of the genre. Really chill and cool to listen to.

This brought out the romantic in me

If you live outside of Brazil, Stan Getz is probably the reason you've heard of Bossa Nova. (All respect to Jobim. I'm suggesting that his - and his contemporaries' - brilliance was recognized so broadly, at least in part, because of how well Getz renders it.) His tone, chops (listen to For Musicians Only with Dizzy), and extraordinary melodic sensibility create the perfect agent for the marriage of samba and jazz harmony. What Charlie Byrd is doing is technically astonishing. He can't keep up melodically. But the whole thing is still just delicious.

Love it 10/10 no notes

Mycket trevligt Jazz

Great memories of great music!

Music for hot nights with cold drinks and an awesome view over the city and the skyline. Makes me want to travel to and relax somewhere where nothing can bother me.

If you like Jazz this is undisputedly one of the best albums out there

This is a great way to spend half an hour. This music just sets the mood and makes me smile. Stan Getz can play!

Yeah this is doing exactly what I want it to do. 5/5 - easiest listen i could've ever asked for

Perfect for a warm summer day in Miami

This is the 2nd Stan Getz album that has showed up for me. Previous to this journey I had never heard of him, and this is not the type of music I have really listened to before. The first album I heard to was Getz/Gilberto and it blew me away, gave it 5 stars. Today I listened to Jazz Samba 4 times in a row. Another 5 stars, something about his music just Getz to me.

Both energetic and relaxing at the same time. I tend to give 5 ratings to albums that I pretty much replay after they're done. What can I say? I like jazz.

Idk how this isn’t a jazz essential.

I’m listening to this is high temperature and high humidity with a cold drink in one hand, so that might be effecting me judgement. But this is cool bossa nova jazz

loved this album.

This is an amazing record. Once I finished it, I let it loop back around for a 2nd listen and enjoyed it even more than the first time. It’s beautiful on every level and there’s real joy in listening to just one instrument on each pass to see what’s going on in that corner of the song. There’s not much I want to say because I think you should all listen to this album immediately; it’s only 35 minutes long and I challenge you to get halfway through Desafindo and not be hooked. Favorite songs are Desafinado, Samba Dees Days and Samba De Uma Nota So but every single track is fantastic.

Album of the year at the 1963 Grammys.

I own this album and it's good.

Lovely grooves written in a dual channel record making for a lovely headphone listen.

YAY SAMBA

I was going to skip this because I am not a Samba fan at all. I’m glad I didn’t. Absolute banger of an album. Listened three times while working.

Upbeat and fun. This was refreshing and not too long. I'm tempted to give it 5/5. There's not much to say I just enjoyed it. Even the saxophone was good.

Love jazz this now my favourite new album never heard of this guy before.

Some very listenable bossa nova with brilliant solos

Only having been familiar with like one bossa nova track (Girl from Ipanema, which I really enjoy), it was interesting coming into a whole album to flesh out my understanding of the characteristics of the genre. It's such a tropical-feeling album, perfect for summer. Every single musician is putting their entire pussy into their performance and it's a marvel of musical storytelling. Melodies and countermelodies dancing back and forth as the percussion has its own little conversation on the side. Simply lovely.

I don't know much about bossa nova, but this sounds like an all-time classic bossa nova album. The guitar and sax playing are superb, tasteful and not self indulgent as some jazz playing can be, at times. It's definitely an album experience, not a song by song experience. So, if you can, make yourself a drink, have yourself a nice rest in the sun, and play lose yourself in this album.

Enjoyed the music sets and variety.

A very smooth, easy going sound throughout

This one was a great instrumental. Fun, peppy, and upbeat. PErfect for a Monday morning.

Absolutely beautiful, the horns, the rhythms, the tunes

I was already familiar with Stan Getz before I heard Jazz Samba, as I had a couple of his albums in my collection. I picked up Jazz Samba at a record store garage sale for under $5 and though the cover wasn't in great condition, the record played well. Right from the first listen, I became a fan of the bossa nova style, coupled with Getz's cool sax and Byrd's exceptional guitar work, this is my new favourite jazz album. I've been trying to seek out other bossa nova records since, but they don't live up to Jazz Samba. A great album!

Good to listen to. Put this in my permanent collection.

Wow it was so pretty!! Big fan of jazz, I don’t listen enough. Saved every song

This album challenge already turned me on to Stan Getz so I was more than happy to get another Getz album. The first one I listened to in fact is one of the only albums I have relistened to after getting it. This one was a little different in that there were no vocals at all and it was strictly instrumental. The saxophone was more pronounced though and I absolutely loved it. The emotion was still in the music and the sax was basically a substitute for a voice, like she was singing. Another fav!

In my library and I love it

A participação do Byrd aqui é muuuuuuito foda. EU ME DERRETO COM ESSAS FRASESINHA!

Amazing groovy jazz

I like Stan Getz. Jazz and Samba go well together. Listening makes me want to lounge with friends while drinking cocktails. Probably an old fashion.

A nice relaxing listen.

I liked it for a change.

Where has this been all my life? Will be a dinner time classic for sure! Smooth, sexy, calm...

Loved it. Listened twice in a row. Want to get a copy of this vinyl, a lazy-boy, and a glass of whiskey.

stan getz a 5 (charlie byrd also gets a 5)

So chill

Just a vibe. I need more of this.

Love me some stannyyyyyy

I love jazz but don't dive as much as I should. I love this album. It is a great making dinner for someone you love while it is playing type album. You don't need to focus on the notes just shuffle around the kitchen while it plays in the back.

Chill, good, classic.

This is great

Great mix of Jazz and Samba. Refreshing sound, very pleasant, laid-back, smooth all the way through.

Liftmuziek essential.

Outstanding! I could listen to this for a long long time

Loved it. Exactly what I needed

I kept hoping a neighbor would show up at my door and catch me listening to this cool music.

Jazz with a Latin flare. I loved this album!

A beautiful album which highlights why the samba is so good. The ending song, "Bahia" is actually a cover and an amazing one at that. Every instrument is played to perfection and comes together to create this masterpiece.

I have heard of Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd but until today had never listened to either men unless it was something that had been sampled in hip hop. I have not listened to much jazz so I may have to revisit but this is a beautiful album and gets my highest regards.

Stan Getz is a smooth groove and Charlie Byrd sends out that bossa nova bounce!

Filled with classic jazz/samba pieces. This is the soundtrack to a happy life. Five.

I love me some stan and love me some samba. 10/10

Top notch, get me a scotch.

I am shocked there are negative reviews for this. I typically don't care for bossa nova but this is so smooth and so pleasant, I don't think I can rate it lower than a 5. This was so likeable, how could you not enjoy this?

Quality stuff. Interesting that this kicked off the US craze for bossa nova, but of course it had to be the white guys' rendition. I wonder if there are any Brazilian bossa nova albums on here. If this is music I "must hear," I think it should be the music that Stan Gets heard, no? I'm sure he would think so

I always think I need to be in the mood for a Stan Getz album. I’m an idiot. This is smooth, fun, tap along if you want to music and I love it.

Gorgeous album

Just a nice peaceful instrumental album. 5 stars

I really liked this album. It's solid Bossa Nova all the way through and just has a good chill vibe throughout, without being boring. Love the guitar/sax combo, but the whole group is great.

It's frickin lovely just let the world pass you by jazz. Perfect for these turbulent times. Just pour a cocktail, put this on, and check out for 45 minutes. You'll be happier.

upbeat and lively, easy but with hidden complexity. very nice listening with playful interplay between the instruments but also could be good background mood music

Feel very cool ambling down the street to this

Love the guy

This is perfect working music. Dig it when I actively listen, doesn't intrude on progress when I am just "hearing it". Probably fantastic for a night with friends enjoying wine...all sorts of uses. I DIG IT MAN!!!!

Great sound. Warm and comfortable.

A great introduction to the bossa nova style jazz.

Sehr angenehm

Such vibes. Works best in the background. Nothing wrong with that exactly. Sets a tone and stays with that tone. No particular highs nor lows. You can move to it or let it sub audibly in the ether.

Love Stan getz

A calming antidote to the horror of the day of the 47th inauguration.

I'm not much of a jazz listener, but Getz playing those latin samba rhythms are just wonderful. Had this playing in the background whilst doing a bit of house work. 5/5.

great combination, smooth and delightful

Absolutely slaps.

So dang smooth, the percussion keeps on chugging while the melodies go crazy, lovely! :) I didn't expect to vibe so much with this as I have somewhat little prior exposure to Jazz and even less to Samba but it worked out wonderfully! I don't mind instrumental music either as I am often playing music in the background and if the lyrics aren't fitting, I find they can ruin a great instrumental. Here the instruments can play without restrictions 👍 9/10

This is what’s up. Great album!

Beautiful

Estadunidenses tocando brasileiros!!!! Good

Like it...Samba is very relaxing reminds me at times of...Tamba 4 ...We and the sea....but not as good....still 5 stars

Light and very smooth! All compositions easy to listen.

Good good jazz.

Heh jatketaan eilisen linjalla samanlaista

5/5 loving this style of jazz music honestly. Hoping to discover more.
