Good but not the right mood today
Very good music to get stoned and lay in a beam of sunlight on the floor like a cat to
smooth, calming but upbeat
If I had to choose a favourite jazz genre it would probably be bossa nova. It's such a good vibe.
Pretty good
kind of all over the place, i see why it can be a appealing to some people but not me.
Album Already Known: N # Songs Already Known: 0 # Songs Saved: 0 Notes: - I'm not gonna save any bossa nova tracks to my liked songs but if i AINT BE GROOVING TO THIS DURING WORK - got me shimmying at my desk FR - also great album artwork
I liked it! Good instrumental jams for a rainy morning.
Very easy listening
3.75 stars. A pleasant album to keep you company, especially if you're doing something like cooking or using public transit. It's a shame that this style of music sounds like royalty free music, or a backing track, just based on how it's been used in media over the past 30 years. It's a delightful array of sound, and the saxophone is captivating. Favorite song was "E Luxo So"
Smooth
3.5/5
Just solid as f all the way through.
I enjoyed this album, a nice calming break from the normal heavy metal I listen to.
Very pleasant. Easy going, breakfast vibes.
Jazzy for sure. Good for certain moods
Cool smooooth jazz
God chillejazz.
Fun.
I enjoyed this and want to check out more from this artist.
Ah Stan Getz. Man he played with almost everyone and bookended big band through smooth jazz. Not a huge smooth jazz fan and this bossa nova foreshadowed the smooth jazz movement but I sure can appreciate his sound. Check out some of his other stuff when you can. Has a real woodsy sound and always finds a way with his horn.
Simple and elegant 8/10
The most banging elevator music I've ever heard in my life. 7/10
Good
so cool
Very nice, laid back bossa nova.
yall mind if a white boy catches a vibe rq?
I loved this so much i kept it in the unrated category so I won't forget it. Probably not as good as some of the jazz records I rated a 5 star, but a veeery solid 4 star
Very good music for enjoying a cocktail at a super fancy gala.
After a little too much heavy metal, it was a real relief to see this pop up. Did I know this album? No. But I know Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd and anticipated something more chill. Which I got. Gosh this was good. Such an enjoyable day to listen to this on repeat.
Cooking music imo
More chill samba. I'll keep listening to everything this list gives me.
Just loved it. No notes.
Very relaxing vibes, almost too relaxing after half an hour of it. But overall, it was pretty enjoyable. I was very productive when it was playing LOL
it's... jazz. i don't know how to talk about jazz. it was perfectly good for working to
Pretty slick
I have a very limited experience with jazz and even smaller experience with bossa nova. That said, it's an incredibly well recorded and played album. Effortless to listen to and enjoy with little to no knowledge of the style, which is always a fantastic marker to me.
Elevator music supreme!
Delightful!
Masterful jazz saxophone, really enjoyable album.
“ya like jazz?” -barry b. benson
Super laid back jazz, very summery, I loved the clarinet as it reminded me of grandad. Not the sort of thing I would normally listen to, and I can’t think when/where I’d listen to it again, but I’m glad I gave it a go.
Cute background music for shmokin a cigar
First foray into samba/jazz, so it's virgin territory. The *ideal* album for carrying out kitchen/cooking/cleaning tasks - it's exciting and engaging enough to have you doing stuff without detracting from the quality of your physical work that needs doing.
This is obviously super nice, and hey, Stan Getz. I don't know what to do with it, though, in terms of rating it. Is it too easy on my, today's ears? Too much 'Elevator Muzak' for listening to it in 2024? How do I rate these albums, really? So I cheated, hah! I try not to look at the 1001, usually, but I had a peek and sure enough, the *other* one is yet to come, so I'm happily giving this a 4 without feeling bad about it. Still, sublime.
AHHHH ICH LIEBS !! Bossa nova isch sooo nice DAS ALBUM ISCH HONIG IH DE OHRE (idk if that makes sense). Isches peak bossa nova/ jazz? Nei. Finds toll
Jazz and Samba, very likeable
Not usually a jazz person but this is nice
Delightful and pleasant.
A classical!
Wasn't sure what to expect but I enjoyed this. Nice collection of pretty tunes, made the room feel a bit warmer. Probably a good length though. Seemed to fade into the background and forgot it was on towards the end, not sure if that's a particularly good or bad thing though.
I've always wanted to simulate life in a 60s elevator for over 30 minutes. That being said, not an offensive listen. Very easy listening as background noise. Quite relaxing, nice instrumentals. Nice saxophone parts. Has a real "kellermans holiday estate" feel (Dirty dancing) Could nearly beat Opus 1 as hold music
Sounds like jazz to me
cool, original
Well, I wrote my thoughts about this on my phone earlier today when I was listening to the album, but somehow the comments did not save. Soooo, I like this album, and I LOVE JAZZ, possibly/probably as a result of listening to music like this when I was a young boy. My dad played music like this (even though his favorite musician was Herb Alpert, as well as loving Hank Williams)... around the house and I remember when my parents had cocktail parties for their friends they'd have this playing (in the early 60s)... so yeah, this is deeply rooted in my psyche as happy music. I grew up to appreciate much more complex stylings of jazz; fusion jazz, techno-jazz, Sun Ra, etc... Okay, I give this a strong 4 star rating!
Nice jazz for drinking Cabernet Sauvignon.
Fun
It's good - same person who did "the girl from Ipanea"? Pretty nice as background music, I'm not much one for Jazz yet
FAVO: Desafinado, Samba Triste
Overall not a jazz fan but found this enjoyable.
Just great vibes that set a chill mood but tons there to appreciate with more intentional listening.
Mostly are good songs, but have both instrumental and lyrics versions and the album is instrumental only and the lyrics version are more interesting
Jazzy, nice. My Jazz palate had not been developed. 4/5
This is fine would be good setbreak music. Good background and driving music
I like that I had heard a couple previously but wasn’t aware of the artists.
If I'm going to be forced to listen to jazz, something like this isn't too bad.
I'm not super big into jazz and have a very surface level knowledge. I definitely wasn't expecting an instrumental album but I loved that it was as it really allowed the saxophone to be the main star of the album. The album is well paced and interesting enough that it doesn't feel like a slog to get through. I would definitely recommend this album for people wanting to start getting in to jazz. outside of some minor flaws I really enjoyed this album would strongly recommend to others looking to get into jazz/ bossa nova
Not a jazz expert by any stretch of the imagination, but this was great music to wake up and get into the groove of the day. Great to learn the history of it as well. Sent me down a rabbit hole to learn more!
Pretty decent jazz album. Very calm and relaxing. Nothing in particular stands out to me. I appreciate the technical skill level involved. However, most of the songs sound the same.
Jazzy
Great
Great jazz.
Lively, fun, relaxing but with the feeling of a dance. Would like to revisit
The album that got Americans into Bossa Nova. This album is pleasant enough to listen to but doesn't resonate with me as much as bebop, cool, and modal jazz. Perhaps it's because both Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd are both Americans interpreting a Brazilian style.
Super easy listening. Really pleasant.
Melodisch und leicht zu hören. In der Mitte etwas anstrengend.
Really nice music to work to.
Stan Getz it right on this one. Paired with Byrd’s Brazilian style, this blend of sounds creates a unique and stylized bossa nova standard. Won’t be quick to put this on at my next BBQ, but as a regular fan of good jazz, I enjoyed this quite a bit.
The wistful interplay between Getz's jazz sensibilities and Charlie Byrd's bossa nova experiences make for a landmark fusion of styles at once both somber and serene.
Spitze, endlich mal wieder gehört
I really liked it. Very nice jazz album. Well produced and great for an intimate evening.
This is very very good. A whole vibe. Not quite the status of Getz/Gilberto but I do Charlie's guitar work! Apparently this was the first of its kind and kicked off the Bossa Nova craze in the US. Easy 4/5
Some of the best background music I've ever heard.
dope if you need a Samba fix short tho - 35 min
Listening to this feels good for my ego.
Sick
Smoother than the slithery smooth backbeat that runs through the first track "Desafinado", downright tropical vibes ooze out of every nook, close your eyes and just imagine you're walking down Copacabana Beach in the 50s, cocktail in hand. Jazz is a misnomer as this is Bonito Bossa Nova, and your hips will sway sitting in your chair.
There is a fair bit of jazz that seems to be considered essential listening. Honestly, I didn’t expect so much through this generator, yet here we are. I haven’t heard of Stan Getz or Charlie Byrd before, so I’m not sure what to expect. Fingers crossed it’s not naff! Songs I already knew: none Favourites: Desafinado, Samba De Una Nota So I really quite enjoyed this. It’s the sort of jazz that makes for a nice background music. It sent me back to playing The Sims on the computer under the stairs, as it felt notably similar to this soundtrack. I find that some jazz goes too far into the land of bizarre (“it’s not about the notes they play, it’s about the notes they don’t”) whereas this stays very listenable. I can certainly appreciate that, and it enjoyed this a fair bit.
Love the vibes, super relaxing and pleasant! 7/10
vibes off the chart. kinda a crazy album to listen to in the gym but it hit
Excellent. Smooth. Perfect background for lobster bisque and a fire in a cabin in Western NC.
Úúú. Meiri djass. Meiri gleði. Ég get haft djass í eyrunum allan daginn.
4/5. A well-rounded jazz album that doesn't overstay it's welcome and keeps the solos nice and sweet. It feels experimental but not amateurish. The players play off each other so well, and there is a genuine excitement among the playing, not sure how but it feels that way. I don't necessarily think it's perfect, but the songs do sound fresh and unique.
Pleasant, but uninspiring first listen, three stars. Then I listened again, in the evening after a drink.
3 Stan album I've listened to this month and they just seem to get better. 7 nice smooth tracks here with Charlie Bird. Bossa Nova at its best
V cool jazz
I’m not really a jazz fan, but this was a good album.
Always nice to hear a good Samba album. A good half hour of it, light and breezy. Enjoyable and not too overwhelming. A nice change of pace and sounded really good. Will listen to over and over.
Felt like I was in a Tom & Jerry cartoon which is most of my exposure to jazz. I enjoyed it.
The sound of Club Blue without the modern electronics and sub bass. Smooth as the finest silk.
Fantastic easy listening bossa nova vibes!
Surprisingly good, not what I would have normally listened to but very easy
Good good. No real comments to either for or against.
Good album
I get the feeling that jazz music is to be enjoyed secondarily whilst primarily partaking in a social activity. If you happen to listen to it alone, you wish you'd be sitting in a smokey cocktail bar, sipping on a good drink and talking the good talk. At least with this album.
Bossa nova album.
Easy and fun listen, made me wanna dance and vibe.
lovely, would listen for work or holidays. easy listening, 4 stars.
4.5
Completely delicious.
There would be less conflict in the world if more people just listened to Jazz Samba.
Pretty nice dinner music
Awesome album! Never would have listened to this if not for this
I love a nice bit of jazz. Makes me feel like i'm in a coffee shop in paris in the 1920s. This album however brings the samba and jazz together so nicely that it brings a whole new life into the jazz. This is the kind of album that's nice to listen to no matter what time of day it is, but the upbeat tempo does make you ready to party. Sometimes the lack of vocals are a nice break and almost medative. Have to say I really enjoyed this album, a bonus is the length sometimes you don't want to spend over an hour listening to a single album. This album was jjust long enough that you felt like you experienced it as a whole but short enough where it didn't drag on.
Could fit in a japanese lounge.
Very chill
Super chill.
I mean its Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd. What's not to like🤷♂️
Great jazz/samba album! I think I prefer Getz/Gilberto just slightly more, but this is fantastic.
Done.
Lekker voor de zaterdagochtend. Heerlijke jazz.
Chill background music. I'm in Brazil.
Yet another jazz classic, and this time it’s a bossa nova record. And dare I say, it’s the first one that I like fully top to bottom. This album is more rhythmic and sorta dancey, reflecting the bossa nova style. And paired with Stan Getz’s fluent and elegant saxophone playing, this album gets its relaxing yet playful and energetic feel which I really like. The first three songs are my favorites on here: “Desafinado” which is apparently a standard of the genre and is incredibly groovy, “Samba Dees Days” featuring a fast, danceable rhythm and a funny title, and “O Pato” with its instantly memorable melody. “Samba De Uma Nota Só” and closer “Bahia” are also good. Overall, a really interesting and fun journey - definitely willing to relisten sometime soon.
This is what you think of when you hear the word "jazz". Just good, smooth listening. Something to lounge and smoke cigars and drink whiskey to.
Do ya like jazz?
Simply delightful
4/5
Very nice jazz, I will definitely check out more.
More Brazilian music. More jazz. How much can be on this list? All that being said, I really liked this and am giving it a begrudging 4.
really smooth
This one goes down super smooth. So light and airy
Very enjoyable bossa nova - cool, relaxed, and pleasant collection of songs. It's difficult to rate jazz albums, because they are so different from the rest on this challenge - since it doesn't have the feel of the completeness of an 'album', it's more like great songs put together,, I'm giving it a 4, but otherwise, musically it is top-notch.
Not bad at all. I prefer some of Stan Getz's other stuff though (Vivo Sonhando) but there were some lovely tunes on this.
Love Stan Getz. dinner party background but interesting to listen intently as well
Wow wow wow Just what I needed today Album title perfectly reflects the music Favorite songs E Luxo So
One of the greats. 4.2
vibes vibes vibes
It's just bloody great. Makes the sun come out, in Ireland, in January
Interesting to hear the combination of jazz flute (?) and samba. It was very easy to listen to
Good 6 out of 10
I never know how to rate jazz albums, because I am no musician. I really liked it, though, and my one year old daughter got into it, too. So thumbs up from us
Samba y jazz. Jazz y samba. Animado.
4.25
4 stars?! Listen, I'm as surprised as you are. This seemed like a quick and easy fail. Bossa nova? Saxophones? Lounge-lizard jazz? Straight to 1-star jail. But I'll be damned if it didn't grow on me. I can 100% see this being the perfect background music in the right situation. More surprisingly, it was INTERESTING. There was still an energy to it that was completely missing from Getz's other album on the list. Don't get me wrong, it's still almost impossibly chill. But it wasn't the utterly flaccid, wet noodle, deflated balloon animal of an album that the later "Getz/Gilberto" was. I don't know. I didn't hate it. And I really expected to.
The jazz must flow
Very relaxing album. Perfect album to have on in the background at home while cooking, cleaning, or hosting.
Samba - pas de paroles Style tranquille
Nice background music, be happy with this accompanying my flat white and slice of cake.
not bad, not bad at all
Gute Musik für eine Café-Schicht.
At thirty five minutes long and as smooth as a buttery bubble bath Stan's stock continues to rise.
Jazzy
73 / 100 Solid proof that the Saxophone truly is the sexiest musical instrument. As my first proper introduction to the world of Jazz, this was a very pleasant listening experience that I hope to revisit semi-often.
Very pleasant
Very early bossa nova, the one that popularized it to international audiences. I think I actually prefer this to Getz / Gilberto. The production sounds much cleaner here, despite it releasing 1962. The vocals in Getz / Gilberto often masked the sound, and there were too many sparse cliche jazz lounge moments that felt like it was trying too hard for pop appeal. The meanings here do feel more meaningful. I like the alteration between different styles. It's a very short record, but you have two catchy pop tunes "Desafinado" and "O Pato", two fast dance tracks "Samba Dees Days" and "E Luxo So", and the remaining were more relaxing lounge-oriented. I still noticed a lot of repeated themes, like it was a bit hard to tell between the two fast ones. But I'd say it's a good record all around on top of its influence to the genre and early form.
Crazy!
Pleasant. A lovely combination of samba vibes and languid sax, with some delightful guitar parts. I was humming Desafinado for the rest of the evening. Can I remember anything else from it? Not really, but I was left with the feeling that I would happily listen again, so a low-ish 4.
ooooooohhhh yeeeaahhhhh going straight into the background music playlist. ooooooo yeeaahahahahha babaeyyyyyyy ooooo zoooo weeeeee yehahah.
SERENITY NOW! But yeah, this album is very chill, a cozy listen that just floats in the background.
Not bad for jazz
Very solid samba album. Some very romantic, some tropical. Little bossanova, little jazzy rock. If you like samba, you'll like this.
Solid
Many melodies that you know "from somewhere". And they happen to be from this album. It's so calm and jazz is so underrepresented on this list.
Excellent listen and wonderful vibe throughout
chill jazz
Good instrumental background music. Fun to listen to, but not too distracting. 4/5
what a wonderful find of a musician, smooth and intelligent, even if this isn’t the record where he and i were truly meant to meet, there’s not a moment of this that isn’t enjoyable, even if it isn’t in my color. getz looks like a mighty prolific artist, and i can’t wait to find him playing the stifling smoky old lounge i glimmer in and out of like a ghost in mid-september. i think we’re gonna get along.
first listen super great
How babies were made in the 1960’s.
doo doo doo takin' out the bins dee dee dee takin' out the non-recyclable plastic film
This is a phenomenal jazz album. All the sounds sound excellently worked. There is not a bad track, but some songs are greater than others. So close to a 5. Favourites: Desafinado / O Pato / Samba Dees Days / Samba Triste / Bahia
Nice samba-bossa-jazz soundtrack. File next to that famous Getz/Gilberto LP (both display a different version of "Desafinado", by the way). With a cool, airy soundtrack such as this one, I don't feel like writing a review today. Sometimes it's nice to stop and smell the roses... Number of albums left to review: 482 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 245 Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 116 (including this one) Albums from the list I will certainly *not* include in mine (many others are more essential to me): 155
jazzzzzzzy
Utterly delightful.
saxophone makes everything better
Bossa Nova album released in 1962. I know very little about jazz, I enjoy it every time I get a jazz album but I'm unfamiliar with where to begin appreciating it. That being said, this is a super pleasant listening experience and one I'd listen to again.
Surprised to find myself tapping my feet! Enjoyed first song, second not as much, liked the third, and some others. Reminds me of the Ry Cooder album we had growing up. Perhaps good background music. I would listen to it again. I know nothing about jazz.
I liked this one.
I wish I knew enough about Jazz to know how great this is!!
Loved it. Peaceful, relaxing, and good
i don’t know much about jazz but i enjoyed this album
Sat on the bus travelling through the Bulgarian countryside, eating a banitsa, listening to a bunch of united Statesians playing some smooth Brazillain music which is drowning out the sound of the poor girl a few seats back suffering from severe travel sickness.
Very enjoyable - but I do like a bit of bosa nova and it turns out that quite a lot of jazz is also something I'll listen to quite happily. This is fine background sort of music but I'm not sure I'd choose to listen to it time and time again. And I'm not sure it'll have me dancing around the kitchen in the same way as other bosa nova stuff might. But there's a time when background stuff is exactly what you need and this is all really solid with a couple of stronger numbers. Half decent then. It's a 4.
Kissed with cool. A beautiful melding of sax and guitar.
I enjoyed it. I don't listen to this genre a lot, so it's hard to rate, but I will anyway :)
It took me 123 generations, but I finally got a jazz album. This doesn’t come close to being one of the best on this list, but it sets a nice mood nonetheless. Like a beach scene in a movie or something. I wouldn’t revisit this while listening intently, but I’d put it on on a beach vacation or a similar escapade.
not my style but excellent
Pretty smooth, but I think that Getz/Gilberto is better and the real essential LP. Would recommend though. B
While jazz is not something I listen to on a regular basis, this album had me on repeat for a bit. Reminded me of the mood and the music that came out in 2014 during the world cup. It had the same moods and swings, and it really took me back.
Listened before
I think this makes it into the 4 start category. This is one of the easier listening jazz records I’ve heard and it’s also got some historical importance (according to the blurb). Great stuff.
Kinda nice
First of all, the quality of talent and production on this album is incredible. This is a 1960s recording!? It sounds like you’re in the room with them, the stereo production is beautifully done. Second, it’s an easy listen. Very chill while still being upbeat, danceable almost. Just grooves. I’d love to get this on vinyl and throw this on while cooking or drinking and chatting. Not a ton of musical variety, but the tracks do transition and have narrative which I like. Don’t think there’s a skippable track on here for me
I really enjoy this. It’s a mood.
This is lovely 4/5
Good album, talented musicians. Probably never listen again.
Really well made. I love jazz and never have heard about Samba-Jazz so that’s going to be something I dwell into now. 4.5/5
It grew on me a lot on the second listen. I prefer more intense jazz but it was beautiful and smooth.
Bossa-Nova is becoming one of my favourite genres from this list. This is an all round enjoyable outing
This shit fucks so hard. Give me all that Samba, all day long.
I really enjoyed this album! Reminded me of mcnally Robinsons.
Enjoyed this for some background music today. I found the music uplifting and it made me wish I was on vacation!!
The only thing that would make this album better is Richard Cheese.
Though I prefer late night jazz to the morning one, if you know what I mean, this one is completely adorable! Perfect start of the effortless day.
I love jazz albums,
Very delightful stuff! Never hits the over-the-top exotica vibes in its explorations and remains a great listen any time of day.
highest quality elevator music for hotels i cant afford. Very cool
I really enjoyed this album. The drums, shakers, and sax were awesome!
One of those classic jazz albums that always sound fresh and that I can never tire of.
I'm not really a Jazz fan, but I do like Bossa Nova and I liked this album a lot! 4/5
wonderful
Totally new to me really enjoyed it!
It's very nice. The sound of the instruments is smooth. It reminds me of the Sim City soundtracks that I like, this sort of music must be the inspiration. I don't think it's an album I would listen to again necessarily but can definitely see myself putting it on for a dinner party. I don't know if that's an insult.
A very relaxing listen. Enjoyed it as comforting background music but overall nothing really stands out.
Fyrsta lagið er tímalus klassísk, þrátt fyrir að vera klárt dæmi um barn síns tíma. Hin lögin sex eru dillandi og skemmtileg, þótt þau séu ekki eins grípandi við fyrstu hlustun. Þessi má alltaf fara á fóninn.
this is really great and I keep coming back to basically every track here. Fantastic introduction to samba for me, getz is wonderfully talented. The rhythms and instrumentation is beautiful. best tracks: samba triste, desafinado, samba dees days
Sax and acoustic guitar centered jazz. Nice easy listening
What kind of monster doesn’t like Brazilian jazz?
Fun and recognizable.
Good background music.
Yes, loved this. So smooth.
I thoroughly enjoyed this album. Makes me miss the warmth of the sun and sand in my toes of summer. The music is suave and relaxing while being upbeat and happy.
Very enjoyable. A much smoother vibe.
It's catchy. Definitely something that you'd want to listen to again and again.
Super smooth and easy to enjoy. Seminal in the merging of the bossa nova and jazz sound. Getz is amazing.
Listening to this album makes me wish I were vacationing on a tropical island somewhere without any worries
I don't know how one can make a sax sound so clean and mellow. At other times when he pays high notes he makes it sound like a trumpet played very gently. To top it off, I'm a bossa nova fan so have respect for the Brazilian OGs.
First time listening to Charlie Byrd or Stan Getz, loved this great easy going jazz album, will be added to my jazz rotation.
55 / 1069 The first Bossa Nova Jazz album to be recorded by American artists. Very cool sounding, nice rhythm throughout, just very chill. Not as interesting as the other forms of Jazz that have been on the list so far but is certainly relaxing. If I still drank would be perfect to have a whisky with!
Rather nice
Enjoyed
It's jazz and it's samba. Of course it's getting a high rating from me. I really enjoyed it, but I didn't love it enough to give it a five. I kinda wish it had more energy. Still, a fun and lovely listen. Pretty solid album. My favourite song was E Luxo So.
I listened to this one walking through the city at night really drunk. At the time it felt like the perfect thing so I’ll just remember it as it was in those and never return for the sake of preserving its legacy
Easy listening
Good jazz. I don't really know what else to say about it. It's a pleasant listen that you can go back to over and over again. Perfect lounge music. Doesn't break any barriers, but it doesn't need to.
This is an absolute treat for the ears. The subtle nuances with how the saxophone is played and the little hints of percussion in the background scratches that primordial part of my brain.
Not something I would normally listen to, but I enjoyed the album.
More than Starbucks background music. This whole thing is a mood. Samba de Uma Nota So is something I've heard before, which I was surprised by! There's nothing not to like here, but it's also not an album that blows you away. I think it's great introductory jazz though. It's not abstract, and it is not overwhelming or 10 hours long. It's more or less a delightful listen.

Nice for studing !
Enjoyed the listen , good jazz tracks
I don't know a ton about bossa nova music but this is a really fun album. Super enjoyable, mellow music to have on in the background while I was working. Really amazing musicianship on every track. Not sure if it will go into my regular rotation but enough to make me check out other albums. Standout Tracks: Desafinado, O Pato, E Luxo So, Bahia
Lovely to hear.
Who doesn't have this on a heavy slab of vinyl with thick cardboard sleeve? A classic, killer grooves, fun percussion sounds to keep interesting with texture...listening on repeat.
I dig this record. I find a lot of soft jazz just wallpaper, but this really grabbed me. It is soft and gentle, but the samba rhythms and wonderful soloing from Getz and Byrd really lift this into something special. I listened to it three times through at a trot. Desafinado and Samba de Uma Nota So are, rightly, classics, and stand out tracks on a really fine record. Not an album to outstay its welcome, and very welcome back on my turntable any time.
Really enjoyed this
Listened through twice. Very nice.
well i’d like to say this is some annoyingly over dramatic entirely skill focused jazz album, like they all are but truthfully this is just a quaint pleasant listen that has a vision and executes it very well.
Nice, pretty generic jazz album.
So relaxing
will get better with age
Not usually my go to style of music, but I can appreciate the art behind this album. Easy listening, nothing too crazy. Overall, a pleasant listen.
deliciaaaa
Put this album on while studying and absolutely BLAZED THROUGH my work. Not usually a big jazz guy but this album is just banger after banger. Wish it was a bit longer, some songs end too fast while others could be stronger, but had a really great time with this project
Good shi
Phew, a nice change of pace after that Nico album.
Listening to Getz play sambas is always a pleasure.
Nice nice nice 4/5
Decent enough background music to work to, set a vibe etc. Makes me feel like I’m standing in a lift or waiting room. That sounds a little disparaging, but don’t get me wrong - the musicianship is top notch. Nothing terribly exciting but a good, mellow introduction to bossa nova.
This was a solid album, very relaxing. Something I could have on in the background during a party. Makes me want to play jazz guitar.
ALBUM GRADE: B ALBUM RATING: 3.76 TRACK RATINGS: 1. Desafinado - 4.0 2. Samba Dees Days - 3.5 3. O pato - 3.5 4. Samba triste - 4.0 5. Samba de uma nota só - 3.5 6. É luxo só - 3.5 7. Baia - 4.0
Nice intro to Bossa Nova. I think that the title is a misnomer. The 2nd track, which is the only one that is not a cover, is kind of cheesy, in a Benny Hill sort of way. Solid playing, it is a bit unusual to hear a bright electric guitar in this setting instead of the duller, lower tone playing is usually common with this type of playing. Bright tempi for all tracks, faster than I play them. This album is making me reassess my tone choices for jazz, although I do typically play with a lower tone setting than what is on this album. Even though Desafinado and One Note Samba were the only tunes that were familiar to me, the general vibe of the album was familiar.
super good spanish guitar bosss nova realness
Another lovely jazz album that I can happily stick on as background music but that I will completely forget the minutes it's over, no matter how much I listen to it.
Bossa Nova. Tick.
Thank you jazz, very cool
They may be white boys, but they have a little swag.
Chill as jazz focused on a horn. Perfect for a sundau
Plenty of tang zest in this one. Probably the most enjoyable jazz album in the list to date.
I kinda liked it. Good as background music, but not very entertaining for me. I would play this album if I had a cafe. Would listen again.
Aaaah...The legendary precursor to the bloons soundtrack. Exquisite.
A pleasant surprise! I’m realizing my main criteria for music I like is its ability to move me - emotionally or physically. This is the best kind of jazz, that’s tempered with delicious samba
Fun listen.
Vacation resort jazz. Super relaxing.
Excelente opção para escutar bossa nova.
So we should blame it on Getz and Byrd. Latin rhythms make any kind of music better. Basically this is ridiculously cool jazz.
4.5/5. Tasty sax and guitar, + creative well done renditions. Can't ask for more really
The songs have an easygoing vibe with playful and inventive improvisations, particularly from Stan Getz on saxophone. The Latin-style guitar is beautiful too. Highlights: “Desafinado,” “Samba De Uma Nota So”
I like the way everything sounds, there’s just not too much exciting about it. 7/10
Doesn't reach the heights of Getz/Gilberto but still solid.
