Tra la lalala

This album really shouldn't work for me and yet... It really does? Interesting, diverse, a band that sounds like it's just on the edge of being sonically incomprehensible. Catchy songs, it's all really great stuff.

Wow brzmi bardzo wesoło. Przyjemny

first listen. i cant believe i had never heard of this band before but im obsessed!!!! this album sounds like something engineered to be exactly my taste. another proof that music peaked in the 90s.

Sheer unadulterated brilliance.

I had never heard these guys before, but they're awesome!

Really ended up enjoying this band!

Pretty good album! I wasn't expecting it but it's totally a 5. I have no idea why but it's just so good!!! 9/10!

God! Show Me Magic - ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL, feels like Damon Albarn doin' punk in the past. Fuzzy Birds - God, I love the fuzz effect. Something 4 The Weekend - I'll listen to the UK version later, but I already love this song. Frisbee - Sounds too 90s and too 2000s at the same time, fascinating. Hometown Unicorn - Depressed unicord with distortion, the song, this is amazing. Gathering Moss - I can imagine a frog collecting stuff for his little home in a swamp, that is too specific, but my point is that I love this song. If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You - I'M FLOATING AAAAAAAAAA. Bad Behaviour - MORE POP PUNK (it sounds like), I love fuzzy noises. Mario Man - FLOATING AGAIN. Hangin' With Howard Marks - Just vibin to this piece. Lone Gone - Even more depressing than the unicorn, internal crying. From Now And Ever - Ok, this is the worst song in the album in my opinion, I'm just not a fan of this type of voice layering. Top 4 God! Show Me Magic Gathering Moss Bad Behaviour Frisbee

Scuzzy Brit pop that I dug a lot.

My first listen-through of the album — I would’ve given it a 2. But I was super busy at work and didn’t change it when it repeated. I’ve now listened to it three times, and it’s really grown on me. It’s just unique enough (and I’ve never heard of them so that’s a bonus point for me) for me to give it a 5. I also secretly love that my rating system probably throws the pretentious music snobs that are on this website into a raging fit.

It's interesting that SFA are referred to as alt-rock on Spotify, rather than Britpop. But I think it's also correct as the Welsh band probably has more in common with Pavement than Shed Seven. The album still holds up; short, sharp and sweet. "Something For The Weekend" is still killer.

Flying vibes and feel good shit ! Need listen again

do you know what is a super furry animal? Your mums rat.

Brilliant debut

Super furries are great, Radiator is the best album but this is still fantastic. Also encouraged me to read Mr Nice when that came out. There are undoubtedly shit britpop bands and shit britpop albums but this isn't one of them.

Exactly the kind of hidden gem I was hoping to discover through this list

I really liked this! 5 maybe a bit strong, but I'm happy to round up

surprisingly fun

Might buy

My first thoughts were that it was too silly, but then I realise that this is the ultimate party band and sounds so much better than Blur and Pulp. (I like Oasis)

I love this band. There are better records to come, but this one has some classic songs and is a showcase for the band's potential.

Heerlijk hippie Muziek , lekked relaxed geluisterd…

Fan of the 90's but didn't really know these too well. Absolutely loved this!

Never heard of them and loved it.

Lots of good goofy songs

idk yet

Weird and awesome, just how I like it.

I heard this album before a while ago but forgot how great it is.

A perfect 90s album. Updated 60's sounds and feelings for a new time, with smart lyrics, and it's a lot of fun!

This album has been a wonderful surprise! I did not have this band on my radar - maybe I’d heard the name some years ago - but it caught me from the very dirt minute. It is the type of psych I like, melodic, unpretentious, a little naive. I loved the beat, textures, chords and song structures; the voice is a perfect fit too. So 90s, so alive. I read somebody’s comment that said that the way how this album ends is the way how a joyful funeral would end , I happen to agree!

Superb. What an album.

Welsh wonders. Sadly missed.

Loved and was pleasantly surprised by the vast majority of it, I even vaguely recognized some of the hits. A pretty unique sounding 90s neo-psychedelic album with all kinds of diverse styles and vibes, yet maintained a very nice continuous thematic and musical flow. Idk much about this band, but going with my gut, 5 stars.

Love love it!!!

i like the group name and album name. first song started quickly. its okay. the lyrics in the second song lol. i quite like the sound too. liking the third song, second beard mention lol. okay its over. i enjoyed this. it was quite interesting. there were some weird sounds here and there that i appreciated. decent chance i'll come back to it, but im glad i got to listen to it even if i dont. i definitely got more into it as it went on. fave tracks: fuzzy birds, if you dont want me to destroy you(!!!), mario man. didnt love: bad behaviour (last minute or so is so good but i hated the bad bad bad bad behaviour chanting). honestly im just gonna give this a five loll vocals are not annoying, they go perfectly with the music, the music is nice, changes up enough to keep me entertained, lyrics are good and fun, and when silly, consciously so, idk i ended up loving this.

Me encantó, es asombroso, quizás al inicio la primera canción suena un poco extraña pero poco a poco te adaptas al sonido de todo el álbum, es asombroso.

Fantastic!!

noiceeeeeee

Goddamm first album? Fuck me

From electronic textures to fuzzy, surfy rock-outs, this record is just an immense amount of fun. The Welsh have something really good going on, apparently. Love it.

I liked it!

I liked it! Cool alt rock, interesting voices, good sound.

Straight into fun, I like how it starts. Punky, but more alt. Really fun, really good. A winner. Gathering Moss: Italian rasta? Some fun curveballs. Pretty great overall.

Навіть не чув)

These guys were clearly influenced by 70s rock, but there's a bunch of other sounds incorporated here (grunge, punk, even some prog). The variety is nice and nicely done, even if it isn't 100% original. 4.0/5.0: Great

Great band!

Super fun album ;) gives me having fun in your room alone feelings.

Unfortunately the inclusion of this album rather misses the point of SFA as there's nothing in Cymraeg on it. I get why that's the case, but if you're going to put a SFA album on the list then it has to respect their importance in the whole Cool Cymru thing. There's stuff on the extended album of course – most importantly (Nid) Hon Yw'r Gân Sy'n Mynd I Achub Yr Iaith, which rather sums up the point of the band for me in lots of ways. But there you go. I suspect most times I've listened to SFA in the past has been on Welsh language compilations and the like. I do rather like, predictably, Mwng and the band has a handy Cymraeg playlist on Spotify that's worth a listen. I enjoyed this enough to give 4 stars, but, honestly, there's something about the stuff that's not in English that's just a little more special.

This is a great discovery for me! Trippy, fuzzy, Syd Barret/David Bowie influenced brit-pop with the genre often changing within the same song. There are truly no bad songs on this album. Added Gathering Moss, Mario Man and others to my favorites list.

I love the Furries. Not giving this a 5 because they weren't quite there yet, but it's a joyous listen nonetheless.

This was fun. The last track lost me a bit, but overall a good time.

this was very good

Every time I have heard this band I am surprised at how much I like them. Great pop rock, with more emphasis on the rock. Catchy tunes that make you think

Actually pretty good

Not bad.

This was getting hate in the reviews and I don't get it. This was so much fun! Weird at times, but really good. Not a ton of fluff here either which I appreciated. I thought the whole band was strong Liked Songs: "God! Show Me Magic" , "Something 4 the Weekend" , "Frisbee" , "Hometown Unicorn" , "If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You" , "Bad Behaviour" , "Mario Man" , "Hangin' with Howard Marks" , "For Now and Ever"

No. 196 This is fun, as music should be. Not perfect, but tons of charm.

SFA 'Fuzzy Logic' 1996 Psychedelic confusion reigns. Still sounding great 30 years on. Heard before ✅️ Listened this time ✅️ Revisit ✅️ ★★★★☆ (8/10) Total reviewed : 325 Already owned : 75 Purchased : 15 To buy : 4 Nope : 231

Only heard of them, didn’t know any songs. Ya, it was nice, cool sounds here.

Pretty fuzzy, pretty electric. Sounds exactly like how it’s supposed to sound (like, rock at that time and shi)

Gotta support my fellow Welsh countrymen! Great album, great band and Gruff’s solo stuff is good too.

New artist to me, but really enjoyed this album! Will be adding to the rotation.

Tossing out hooks like confetti here. An auditory adventure weaving threads of experimental rock, psychedelia, and pop. It's as if The Beatles decided to form a supergroup with Frank Zappa, Gong-rek, and They Might Be Giants, but with a Welsh twist. This is the sonic equivalent of stumbling into a party you weren't expecting that's totally chaotic, colorful, and utterly irresistible. Spins: 2 Playlist Additions - God! Show Me Magic - Something 4 the Weekend - Hometown Unicorn - If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You

Ish pretty good!

Glam rock psychedelia? The Creation meets Slade? What do we have here? I don't know but it sounds pretty good to my two pointy ears!

Wow I’ve heard of the guys for years but never gave them a listen. What a joyful, weird, timeless album. The melodies are cool, guitar solos rip. Sure they’re aping blur but at least they’re having fun doing it.

Although on paper this sounded awful, it was actually extremely fun to listen to. I never got bored of the twists and turns, jumps between genres, weird sound effects, and bizarre songs. Four stars seems fair.

Enjoyable weird British 90s rock.

Très sympa plein de morceaux variés

I thought this one was pretty good!

blur, oasis og et lille skud arctic monkeys. jeg kan godt lide det, men jeg kan også forstå, hvis man synes, tiden er løbet fra det. 3.9 = 4 stjerner. altså, hør lige Mario Man

I really loved this album. I'd never heard of the band before even though I'm pretty sure I'd heard some of the songs (maybe in movies or TV shows). This is something I will definitely come back to - it's weird, fun, catchy. The standouts for me were Something 4 the Weekend and Hangin' with Howard Marks.

Listened while reading/taking study notes for King Lear, and it has kinda a vibe. Gathering Moss kind of a King Lear song. I only thought of this because it said something about faking madness. This one is a solid 3.75. I'll round up to 4. I enjoyed it.

When I think about this album I think about Monty Burns when Marge painted him nude after seeing him in the shower. He said "I may not know much about art but I know what I hate...and I don't hate this." I feel much the same way about this album. Saying that, I'm not sure that I love it either. The album is an acquired taste. The fuzzed out guitars get a bit much over the course of the album.

An eclectic mix, with some at times very distorted guitars. They make it poppy though. The album is a tad too inconsistant to get a 5 from me but it is a very high 4. Some killer tracks on here but their other album on this list blows everything on here away. Cool debut though, showing the seeds being sown for future records

Day 204 A band I went to see live quite a few times back in the day, I actually prefer Radiator to Fuzzy Logic but still a great trip down memory lane Highlights God! Show me magic Something 4 the weekend Hangin with Howard Marks

I tend to have a soft spot for fuzzy/indy sounding music from the mid 90s, and this doesn't disappoint. Definitely want to come back to this and listen some more

Good stuff

I really enjoyed this, a super fun and novel take on Britpop!

Top 3 Something 4 the weekend Hometown unicorn If you dont want me to destroy you

В целом лучше чем многие песни, иногда скатывались , но в целом хорошо. 6/10

One of those albums can't believe didn't hear in the 90s. Will definitely go back to it.

Faves: Something 4 The Weekend, Hometown Unicorn Loving the album cover. very le tigre

Heard Before? Yes, but not for a while. Notes: - like all their 90s albums, the production here is an AM radio sounding trebly mess. - there are many guitar tones here and not a single one I like. - so many cool and exciting sounds in dense complex arrangements, except nothing can be heard clearly. - consistently clever writing with little surprises around every corner. - wonderful use of backing vocals. - a remixed version has the potential to be one of my favorite albums of the 90s. Verdict: I've never liked an album more that was this poorly produced, except their next album (Radiator). Listen Again? I'd rather revisit Mwng or Phantom Power, but I'm glad I heard this again.

What if the Beatles were Welsch?

I actually kinda liked this. Its definitely better than 90% of the britpop on the list. It fell off a bit for me towards the end, but still a solid album.

It was just so refreshing to listen to a band who seem to be really enjoying what they are playing! Probably more like a 3 for me, but lots of the reviews seem fairly negative - and I like to cheer on the super furry underdogs of this world.

This is music and im not going to objective. Cool and fun and sweary and exciting and psychy and welsh and pop and weird and rambling and brilliant. A good editor could make this perfect but its sprawl is part of its charm.

After three days of dross this is more like it, I love me some Super Furry Animals. I think they were the first band I ever saw live, it was either them or Shed Seven. In saying that, since they only have two albums on here, I would probably swap Fuzzy Logic for Radiator. FL has the better singles but for me Radiator is a better overall album. Still, I really enjoyed revisiting this one. It’s been far too long since I’ve listened to them. Gonna binge all their albums over the next day or two now lol. Top Tracks - Something 4 The Weekend

This came up and I thought, 'oh I like this but not as much as Radiator or Guerrilla'. I was wrong. Loved every minute. If You Don't Want Me To Destroy You was a highlight.

I was hoping for more Welsh. But you can't have everything.

No conocía el debut de este grupo. Buen disco con reminiscencias de The beatles y parecido a Blur.

Their best work was still ahead of them but this remains a brilliant, brash introduction to the glorious nonsense that is the Super Furries. Always puts a smile on your face.

j'ai kiffé

Very good.

Sounds of 60s psychedelic pop, 80s fuzzy distorted punk-turns-alt bands, and 90s Britpop - like Blur meets The Flaming Lips to write some Beatles-influenced songs for Syd Barret). It’s fun and has some real catchy vocal melodies and harmony lines. It’s not totally consistent, but there’s a few great songs and at least a little something to enjoy in each.

bisschen britpop, bisschen punk

Good stuff

im a sucker for nice album cover art, i was hoping the album could deliver. first song was like woah bang period. the rest of the songs that were less than a million streams gave the vibe of the matched the vibe of the albun. not music for me, but still very good. because i was able to guess the vibe from the album cover and the song delivered, 4 stars

debut album, they started with good brit pop, blur-ring a lot

Great britpop album

Good surprise.

Congrats to Super Furry Animals for being the first UK bias album on this list that I didn’t hate. I thought this album was actually pretty fun overall, and it would be a fun unknown band to show people. Just nice to have a UK band who wasn’t so boring I wanted to turn the album off and listen to something else.

No complaints

'Something 4 the Weekend' is one of the greatest indie songs of the 90s. It's an unapologetically joyful ride through glam rock guitars married to soaring power pop. And in amongst it, a burgeoning skill for writing melancholy - 'If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You' is beautifully balladic, avoiding all cliché with the typically offbeat lyrics. The album in general maintains great quality, but as is the case with many an album there is a later album dip, especially the last few songs where a bit of momentum is lost. I think 'Radiator' is just as good, but this is the album for raw, glam guitar and debut-album-energy. It's quirky, it's rocky, it's a furry foury.

I'm suprised at myself for this, but it was weird in a way I liked! Kinda reminded me of a The Piper at the Gates of Dawn era Pink Floyd. A chaotic clashing of sounds that every now and again comes together to make me go "wow this is really going off". I'd totally get if someone said they absolutely detested it, but I think I was in the right frame of mind for it. I was a bit skeptical at first but the outro of fuzzy birds had me hooked, and the weirdness of Something 4 the weekend really caught me and from there I was along for the ride. I, too, would've liked to hang out with Howard Marks. It's so hard to choose between a 3 and a 4 because it isn't at all a consistent album, but I think it just eeks out a 4 on this listen. I could see downgrading it a bit if I listened to it on another day.

Need to give it a better relisten but sounded fire from what I heard.

Not much to say! Good, crunchy guitar rock, enjoyable to listen to.

Ive never heard of these guys and I thought this album was a banger.

This was a lot of fun. It was weird but catchy. Quirky but rockin. Always a fan of albums that just feel like a good time.

Fizzing with ideas, psychedelic to the core, drifting from wistful to urgently rushing

Initially based on the first cut I thought this album was going to be a bust but it really grew on me as the genres changed so much and it had a concept album feel by the end.

Funky psy-rock pop sound. Quirky moments (theramen in one song?) with fun lyrical tangents/vocalizations. Will look up their other discography

3.5 closer to a 4

Rules right off the gate and is super weird in a good way and then it trips all over its feet in the back half. Gotta say as far as 1990s Brit pop on the list this one actually feels like it deserves a place

Really enjoyed it!

I liked their sound. Another discovered band to enjoy.

Baustelle, Gerstetten, Deutschland. Sehr schönes Album.

Some of the finest 1990s sounds.

I don't think I'd ever heard of this band and it was a fun surprise! Some poppy bits, some punky bits, some rock bits, and some that felt like pop/punk before pop/punk was a thing. Especially liked Something 4 the Weekend, Frisbee, and Hometown Unicorn.

It’s difficile to try and be objective with this one but, as debut albums go, it’s pretty much a perfect distillation of what SFA are/were. It doesn’t get a five, as I feel they actually surpassed this on later albums.

Lots of character and some good tunes. I suspect that my favourite SFA album (Mwng) will not make the list so I have to mark this highly!

This is really bloody good. I'd heard of Super Furry Animals but for some reason thought they weren't my cup of tea. Wrong.

Some parts feel rushed but overall it's a enjoyable experience. 4/5

A really good record. Felt a bit like Blur but much better. Good melodies, good riffs, a pleasure to listen to from start to end.

This album feels a little unorthodox, feeling like a weird bastard child of the 70’s psychedelic and 90’s britpop. The ambition of it makes it a little hard to grasp to it and I do wish that they settled on one end. But as is, there’s some good bops here. And honestly, an album with a number of good bops is better than one with no bops. Kind of struggled rating this one, but I’ll be generous with this one. Favorite track: Frisbee Other hits: Hometown Unicorn, God! Show Me Magic, Something 4 the Weekend, If You Don’t Want Me To Destroy You, For Now and Ever, Bad Behaviour

Pretty fuzzy. 8/10 13/09/25

Fun listen - will revisit

This is why the 1001 'challenge' exists - missed this album (don't even remember these guys) even though it is in my genre (1996 was a busy time for me.) Very good album. Loved the song God!, a lot on here. Took a few listens to recognize how good this album is (like many great albums they take a bit of time to acquire a taste.) Wish there was a 4.5 button, just can't justify a 5.

73/100. A playful and occasionally spacey slice of Britpop-era indie rock. As a starting point, it’s a curious listen, a little weird, a little safe, and just distinct enough to warrant a revisit.

I throughly enjoyed this. Probably more than I was expecting. I liked the other record I had of theirs before this, but this album was much more my sound. A rock album with the glam and psychedelic and electronic elements. Would listen again!

It's okay. In the beginning I liked it not so much, near the end it's alright. Not top music and still not really my taste so 3/5 ig

Quite a lot of the guitar tones and electronic effects are quite unique from what you could consider brit-pop, I think they were willing to experiment a lot more, obviously they were influenced by funk and psychedelic rock stuff. It definitely does have the pop element, but totally in a good way, like there's catchy choruses and group vocals, which make the songs feel really good fun. Also the keyboards and synths are cool, like the synths which are kinda used as textures and ambient noise in a lot of places, which is interesting. Favourite songs: god! show me magic, fuzzy birds, frisbee, hometown, bad behavior, Mario man, hangin' with Howard Marks, for now and ever. Overall around 7/10

Not, objectively, quite as good as Rings Around The World, but still has all the hallmarks of what makes the Furries one of the most interesting bands out there. The odd punch of noise, the swirly psych, the Welsh lilt and the nonsensical lyrics are all in place, and the overall effect is just as tremendous as it was back in the day.

Where the beautiful madness began.

Fun, rounded up

Enjoyed most of it, thought it was pretty strong up until the last few songs. Very loose fun feel, doesn't take itself too serious Rating: 3.9

This was an extremely enjoyable album. This definitely felt and sounded like a punk rock album. It kinda brought me back to my middle school years, lol. I really liked the band's choice of lyrics in each song; they were pretty unique in my opinion. I'd say my favorite song was "Bad Behavior."

I’ve tried a few times to listen to SFA over the years and I don’t knows if it’s the vast discography or just not having a connection with the band from my youth but I was never able to get into them. Honestly this listen was probably the closest I got to getting it. I did enjoy this listen though.

Pretty cool album, 90s British indie

A fun and eclectic alt rock / britpop album. I like that it's full of energy (although there are a few slower tracks) and there were some pretty good hooks. But none of the songs really stood out to me. While I did really enjoy listening to it, it's overall quite forgettable.

Very fun record. A bit all over the place with the different styles and all but very enjoyable. 76/100

Wow there’s a lot in this one! I kept hoping I’d turn the corner and love it, because I love how ambitious it is, but none of it really grabbed me. Maybe I’m just a little grumpy these days, or maybe you have to be Welsh?

Pretty good

Hell yeah brother

It figures that out of all the britslop I've gotten so far on this list, I actually enjoyed this one the most. At least it feels like it's self aware, and all of the different music styles it takes on worked well for me

I love being surprised by this list and this was one of those times... Not quite as mind blowing as my experience hearing the Stone Roses for the first time, but pretty close.

Very good. Potentially a 5.

A pretty upbeat, fun, melodic album that I'd definitely go back to.

I tend to like the kind of artists that don’t just give the song (or novel/movie) what it needs, but sometimes stuff it absolutely doesn’t need at all but that the artist for some strange reason felt the need to express. Feel like a lot of the decisions on this album fall in th latter camp. So for that I give 3 stars. I give an extra one because these weirdos can also write a hook

A good album, I liked God! Show Me Magic and Something 4 The Weekend.

i pretty good like it,I recommended because the song lyrics are good.

These Welshies have a seemingly bottomless well of hooks, making for a great power pop record with a disposition closer to Ween across the pond than to its britpop contemporaries. There are no fewer than four perfect pop songs here. Give me more time with it and that number will go up. Like Ween, Super Furry Animals seem to be the epitome of the 'this band could be your life' band.

Fun but not groundbreaking.

Good album. Definitely worth a listen.

I love SFA, and this is a great listen. 3 or 4 brilliant songs - God show me magic. Something for the weekend and IYDWMTDY are glorious, and none of the songs are bad, although the guitar is a bit piercing in places. Very, very close to a 5 - if it had one more song of that quality I'd give it, but there's a few tracks that just float by pleasantly instead of grabbing you

I surprisingly enjoyed this. Seems brit pop, but with more drugs and fuckery. Fuzzy Logic seems to have been used in making this album, but its new to me and I will likely revisit it in the future.

a great debut album from a consistently solid band

Super Furry Animals bring their at times bizarre, at times potent blend of fuzzed out modern psychedelia on their consistently great debut album, whose boldness stood out (and continues to stand out) in the fact that it did not pander or conform to the increasingly boilerplate standards set by their neighbors in Great Britain at the time of its release. Maybe it still does, given how little it has aged since. A nice little introduction from a band that would become more bonkers as time goes on. Favorites: God! Show Me Magic, Fuzzy Birds, Something 4 the Weekend, Frisbee, Gathering Moss, If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You, Bad Behaviour, Mario Man.

"Fuzzy Logic" is the debut album by Welsh rock band Super Furry Animals. Art rock, Britpop, glam rock, psychedelia and punk rock are the Wiki-listed genres. The album was well received but as one critic stated "eclectic if inconsistent mix of psychedelic and glam rock." The bandmembers include Gruff Rhys (vocals, guitar), Dafydd Ievan (drums, piano, percussion, vocals), Cian Ciaran (keyboards, vocals), Guto Pryce (bass, organ, vocals) and Huw Bunford guitars, e-bow, cello, vocals). Commercially, the album reached #23 in the UK. A fast glam rock start with guitars opens "Good! Show Me Magic." Rhys on vocals including a falsetto. The song settles into a groove. A fuzzy guitar and. Some vocal phasing going on. Elements of psychedelia and Britpop. They covered a lot ground in a song about asking God for a miracle. Bouncy comes to mind listening to their third-released single "Something 4 the Weekend." Very Beatle-esque. Layered vocals, piano. Repeating yourself with alcohol and shagging. They slow things down in "If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You." Guitar and nice vocals. Hey, they're encroaching on ballad territory here. And then, strings appear after which the band takes off and a nice big ending. The guy in the pictures on the album cover is famous drug smuggler Howard Marks. So, they have a song named "Hangin' with Howard Marks." Layered guitars with a great melody and very catchy. A song about buying, smoking and selling weed. Cheers! This is a fun album for the most part. I agree with the inconsistent critical comment but there is no doubt on their talent and the songs kept my interest. They covered ground with glam, poppy, pyschedelic, punky and bouncy songs. The layered guitars are melodic when used. I would probably give an edge to a couple of their albums in the near future after this one. But, overall, a decent album and a recommendation.

Un disco con mucha onda. Los tracks rockeros son bastante upliftings y en general uno se la pasa muy bien escuchándolo. Me dejó con ganas de escuchar más de los Furros.

I don't think this album holds up nearly as well as "Rings Around the World," but "Fuzzy Logic" is still a refreshing album to have come out in 1996, and it shows a lot of their skill and songwriting aptitude and goals and is a great debut album.

Lots of fun. Enjoyed the glam rock influences. Unorthodox lyrics appreciated too. Very 90s, but then so am I. Great band.

3.5 to listen again

Cool album with tons of influences and probably directly influenced bands like the mgmt and other contemporary psych bands. Also similar to contemporaries flaming lips. I probably won’t revisit but a fun exploration.

Fun album overall

Enjoyed this start to finish. Reminded me of something I would’ve been into back in 2000. Very fun and shouty.

Favorite tracks: Frisbee, Hometown Unicorn, For Now And Ever I found this really energetic and exciting! I love how it merged the mellowness of psychedelic rock with the kookiness of '90s alternative. It's like it was crafted exactly for my musical tastes.

Fuzzy memories of old in college dorms rocking out to the SFA

Enjoyable

vier minus

Lowkey thought I would hate this, since I'm not a big fan of 90s music, in general, and this is clearly some 90s shit. Britpop can also be really hit or miss. This ends up being much more of a hit than a miss, though, which surprised me. It is very much "eclectic" as the Wikipedia snippet says. There's nothing really tying each song to each other, which isn't a bad thing, but it does make it feel less cohesive. The solo/ending on "Bad Behaviour" is too much, though. Sticks out like a sore thumb, and it really the only actually bad part of the album. Because it's a little all over the place, there's some moments/songs that aren't quite as good, but it is overall a good album! Like, I honestly really enjoyed it. Favorite Song(s): Something 4 the Weekend, If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You

Ooh I think I like this. Definitely more than Rings Around the World. Power pop goodness with an absurdist bent. It loses a bit of momentum in the second half after the giddy sugar rush of that initial flurry of tracks wears off, but the last 2 tunes won me round again. This album may not be a masterpiece but I can’t fathom why some of the top reviews on this site seem to hate it so much…? 3.5 / 4

Divertidísimo, va y viene. Las letras son graciosas, el sonido es bueno. Psicodélico, rockero, popero y hasta punky. Goofy ahh. De repente se hace muy largo a partir del lado B.

Really fun, rowdy psych pop.

now THIS is some funky fresh rock holy cannoli

Brilliant - loved this and will revisit, how did I miss it back in the day!

Another not very memorable 90s U.K. bullshit album. But I liked it, accidentally listened to it twice. It’s sports video game menu core

I was so happy to see this turn up on the list. A pleasant surprise. Super Furry Animals get lumped in with Britpop but they absolutely transcend the genre. What we have here is their debut, a relatively straightforward rocker but it was the first step on an eclectic and fascinating journey. They wouldn't hit their creative stride right away but within a few albums, the Furries would be experimenting with more psych elements, fusing both mellow acoustic and upbeat indie rock with techno and electronic excursions, often within a single track and always with their trademark eccentric lyrics and undisputed ear for a melody and a hook. They also broke a series of brilliant and unusual records later in their career; highest-selling Welsh language album (Mwng), most UK top-40 singles without a top-10 hit, and apparently the first band to release an album with an accompanying DVD (Rings Around The World). So I'm giving Fuzzy Logic a solid 4 today but I want it to be known that SFA deserve 5-star recognition for being a ground-breaking and wonderful fixture in British music history.

Actually didn’t mind this album. Reminded me of a few other artists. Some Bowie, Psychedelic Beatles, and Weezer just to name a few. Will probably wind up adding this to my music library. Listened to the whole thing a few times just to try and get the full experience. I’m giving this a 4.

Nevjerojatno koliko ovi prvi sfa podsjećaju na parklife eru blura

Of all the Britpop on here, this is not bad. It’s not great, like some, but not bad.

Not bad, brought me into a pleasant musical area in Spotify. I was not blown away though

It's two for two for the Super Furries, and both within a week of each other. Again, it's a really eclectic album. They chuck so much at this and go all out, which I really appreciate. It has a kind of 'fuck it let's do this' attitude. There's brass, whistles, synths, weird soundscapes and all sorts. It sounds so genuinely unusual at times (like on Frisbee and Bad Behaviour) but it's really fun and upbeat overall. The whole approach could have been fraught, but in my opinion it avoids the quirky or twee label.

I wasn't actually expecting to like it, but I did.

Excellent

I liked this despite the cutesy name.

Pre-listening thoughts: YEAHHHH WELSH ROCKERS Post/during listening thoughts: this is like welsh blur a little. I can see how some people would tire of britpop but not me baby! I really love Britpop and I’m not sorry about it. 8/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: no I guess not Fav tracks: God! Show Me Magic, Something 4 the Weekend, Hometown Unicorn, Mario Man, Hanging with Howard Marks Least fav tracks: none

4 - I really don't know where I stand of SFA but I quite like a few of their songs. I think they are really great, but nothing really makes me think I'm going to go back to them

This album was great frenetic fun, and I really enjoyed it. It's all over the place and manages not too really do anything wrong, reminding me of genre benders like Ween or Electric 6. I had so much fun I almost gave it 5 stars, but while I liked most of the songs and didn't hate any, I wasn't in love with any either. Still, lots of fun, and I'm sure I'll come back to it.

Never listened to this band but I definitely enjoyed this.

An amalgamation of 60s and 70s rock-and-roll and pop styles that works pretty well. Enjoyable but not exactly essential given all the similar releases from the time.

I may just be a sucker for this kind of 90s rock mishmash, but I really dug this album. 4.5 bumped down to 4.

Albumi #87, 23.10.2024 SFA:n debyyttialbumi kesältä 1996 on loistava teos. Tämä kuulostaa itseasiassa jopa hemmetin hyvältä monen monen vuoden jälkeen.

I don’t think I can say why I’ve enjoyed this album so much more than Blur’s Modern Life is Rubbish, when on the surface they sound so similar. Both that album and this one I could accurately accuse of sounding like Bowie imitators. They both trade in 70s rock and glam aesthetics and they’re both made by scrappy Brits with the attitude intact. I guess I can identify a confidence that Super Furry Animals has that Blur seems to lack, that allows them to make weirder or slower songs like “Long Gone.” This kind of confidence Damon Albarn was able to achieve with Gorillaz. I don’t know why I’m talking about Blur so much. I guess I just expected to dislike this album just as much as that one, but instead, I’ve quite enjoyed it.

This album was better than it had any right to be. I was under the impression that Super Furry Animals were like a Welsh Flaming Lips or something like that. Instead, they're like Catherine Wheel if they were fed a lethal amount of LSD. There are a couple of corny tracks, and the relentless tongue-in-cheek nature of Gruff Rhys' lyrics naturally starts to wear a wee bit thin. People complaining that this is just another mediocre record from that Britpop glut would do well to listen again - it's neither Britpop, nor is it mediocre. And are these guys singing in a Welsh accent? That's an extra star right there.

Listened a few days ago. I remember it was pretty good rock, not amazing. I will listen again.

Quite fun

Fun album.

I think this is the second Super Furry Animals album I’ve been generated. Before this project, I don’t think I’d heard of them. There is one track here that I recognised, but I always assumed it was Blur. There are plenty of other tracks here that felt very Blur-like too, which is definitely a good thing! Something 4 The Weekend is probably the highlight for me in this album, but it was all good fun. I’m glad I heard this.

Some fun music by Welsh Rock Band.

Pretty solid and eclectic collection of tracks

I liked this whole damn thing. Fun timeless psychedelic big rock elements like Flaming Lips have captured in the past and plenty of personality. Never really listened to these guys before but I'll be revisiting this one! Real fun experience with plenty of chops and unexpected songwriting.

I thoroughly enjoyed this album. It has a fun, upbeat sound with witty lyrics and cultural references. The version I got linked to was ~41 mins / 12 songs so basing the review just off of just those. Favorite songs were: 3. Something 4 the Weekend 5. Hometown Unicorn 10. Hangin' with Howard Marks 12. For Now and Ever 8/10

Best uk group of the 90s

Debut album by Super Furry Animals, and second on this list. I'm still not sure what is so special about that band or their songs. It's an okay alternative music, nothing too crazy, nothing too popular. It was good, but is it something for this list?

Super Furry Animals are one of those bands that I’ve heard of and have seen them compared to artists and bands that I like a lot, but I’d never listened to them before this. Fuzzy Logic is a solid, often times really good album that sounds newer to me than 28 years old. It’s a little bit Flaming Lip (especially of the mid 90’s), a little bit blue album Weezer, and a little bit Oasis/Blur. It makes for a good mix and fun sound throughout, and fun should be the offering if you’re going to name your band Super Furry Animals. Something For The Weekend and Hometown Unicorn are the highlights for me.

Albums of Super Furry Animals are always eclectic. This one has some terrific songs.

Too similar to blur to be on this list. But i didn't mind the music.

ever wondered what would happen if blur, bowie and supergrass had a musical baby? it was answered for me in this album the amalgamation of britpop with 70s influence was a bit incoherent, but kept the album refreshing. the more gripping first half of the album appeared more typically “britpop-py”, with a range of albarn-esque harmonies and simple yet effective guitar riffs. the second half for me didn’t click in the same way, yet each song still had its own redeeming qualities. overall, i really enjoyed this fusion of sounds, from a band i had never previously listened too, and i would definitely listen again.

The names really put me off but it wasn't that bad actually

One for the taffies. (And while we’re on it, let me recommend a doco you can catch on youtube about the famous Rockfield Studios in Wales, where this was recorded - The Studio On The Farm.)This is the second of their albums we’ve been asked to rate, after Rings Around The World, and I love it. It is steeped in late 60’s/early 70’s British beat music. It embraces the “pop” in Britpop. I wish I could remember what song they channel on the opening track - it’s still driving me mad. The use of flute with brass backing on Fuzzy Birds is so 60’s it ain’t funny. Something For The Weekend could be a Roy Wood/Move track. Hometown Unicorn is definitely a SydBarrett thing. They really get the guitars out for Bad Behaviour -pure early 70’s, guitar-driven pop - & for Hangin With Howard Marks, dareisay the heaviest track on the album. I reckon the band loved The Kinks & The Beatles a helluvalot. Top effort.

I don't know what people are talking about. It's nowhere near as bad as they're making it out to be.

This is fun, as music should be. Not perfect, but tons of charm.

Enjoyed this. Heard of the them before, but this was the first time properly listening to them, although I did already know a couple of tunes. Will definitely look forward to listening to more. Simpsons: No

### In-Depth Review of "Fuzzy Logic" by Super Furry Animals **Introduction** "Fuzzy Logic," the debut album by Welsh rock band Super Furry Animals, was released in 1996. This album stands as a quintessential example of Britpop, merging psychedelic rock, indie, and experimental sounds. It captures a moment in the mid-90s when music was in flux, with bands pushing the boundaries of traditional genres. This review will delve into the album's lyrics, music, production, themes, and influence, providing a comprehensive analysis of its strengths and weaknesses. **Lyrics** The lyrics on "Fuzzy Logic" are a mix of surrealism, humor, and introspection, typical of Super Furry Animals' approach. Lead singer Gruff Rhys delivers lines that are often whimsical and abstract, yet they resonate with deeper meanings upon closer inspection. 1. **"God! Show Me Magic"** - The song is a brief, explosive opener with lyrics that reflect a desire for wonder and excitement in a mundane world. It's both a call to the divine and a critique of the lack of magic in everyday life. 2. **"Something 4 the Weekend"** - This track tells a story of escapism and weekend revelry, juxtaposing a mundane existence with the thrill of temporary freedom. The lyrics are cheeky and playful, enhancing the song’s catchy nature. 3. **"If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You"** - A more introspective song, the lyrics deal with themes of vulnerability and emotional dependence. Rhys's delivery is earnest, making the surreal imagery feel intimate and relatable. **Music** The musical composition on "Fuzzy Logic" is eclectic, with a blend of pop melodies, psychedelic rock, and electronic influences. Each track showcases the band's versatility and willingness to experiment. 1. **Instrumentation** - The album features a rich tapestry of sounds, from traditional rock instruments to synths and samples. The guitars are often layered with effects, creating a dreamy, sometimes chaotic atmosphere. 2. **Song Structure** - Many songs follow conventional pop structures but are adorned with unexpected twists. For instance, "Hometown Unicorn" starts as a straightforward rock song but evolves into a more complex arrangement with shifting tempos and dynamics. 3. **Genre Blending** - Tracks like "Fuzzy Birds" incorporate elements of electronic music, while "Bad Behaviour" leans into punk influences. This genre-blending keeps the album fresh and unpredictable. **Production** Produced by Gorwel Owen and Super Furry Animals, the production on "Fuzzy Logic" is polished yet retains a raw edge that suits the band's eclectic style. 1. **Sound Quality** - The album sounds crisp and vibrant, with each instrument clearly defined in the mix. The production enhances the psychedelic elements, creating a lush, immersive listening experience. 2. **Use of Effects** - Effects are used creatively throughout the album. For example, "Gathering Moss" features reversed guitar tracks and reverb-heavy vocals, adding to its dreamy quality. 3. **Balance** - Despite the heavy use of effects and diverse instrumentation, the album maintains a balance that prevents it from sounding cluttered. The production supports the songs’ structures rather than overshadowing them. **Themes** "Fuzzy Logic" explores a range of themes, from existential musings to social commentary, often wrapped in layers of surrealism and irony. 1. **Existentialism** - Songs like "If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You" and "Hometown Unicorn" reflect on human existence, the search for meaning, and the fragility of happiness. 2. **Escapism** - Tracks such as "Something 4 the Weekend" and "Long Gone" deal with the desire to escape from reality, whether through love, nostalgia, or sheer hedonism. 3. **Social Commentary** - The album also touches on social issues. "God! Show Me Magic" can be seen as a critique of modern life's banality, while "Bad Behaviour" comments on societal norms and expectations. **Influence** "Fuzzy Logic" had a significant impact on the Britpop scene and beyond. It introduced Super Furry Animals as a band willing to push boundaries and experiment with their sound. 1. **Britpop Scene** - The album stood out in the Britpop movement for its originality and willingness to diverge from the conventional sounds of the time. It helped pave the way for other bands to explore more eclectic and experimental styles. 2. **Future Works** - "Fuzzy Logic" set the stage for Super Furry Animals' subsequent albums, establishing their reputation for innovation. Their approach to blending genres and incorporating electronic elements influenced many bands in the late 90s and early 2000s. 3. **Cultural Impact** - The album's success in the UK and its cult status abroad contributed to the global appreciation of Welsh music and culture, showcasing the region’s vibrant and diverse musical landscape. **Pros and Cons** **Pros:** 1. **Innovative Sound** - "Fuzzy Logic" stands out for its unique blend of genres and experimental approach, offering a fresh take on the Britpop sound. 2. **Engaging Lyrics** - The lyrics are a mix of wit, surrealism, and introspection, making the songs both entertaining and thought-provoking. 3. **High Production Quality** - The album’s production is polished yet retains an edge that complements the band’s eclectic style. 4. **Versatility** - The band's ability to switch between different musical styles and moods keeps the album engaging from start to finish. 5. **Cultural Impact** - The album contributed to the broader recognition of Welsh music and influenced numerous artists across various genres. **Cons:** 1. **Cohesiveness** - The eclectic nature of the album, while a strength, can also be a drawback. The rapid shifts in style and tone might be jarring for some listeners. 2. **Accessibility** - The experimental elements and surreal lyrics may not appeal to those looking for straightforward pop or rock songs. 3. **Pacing** - Some tracks, such as "For Now and Ever," can feel less impactful compared to the standout songs, affecting the album’s overall pacing. **Conclusion** "Fuzzy Logic" by Super Furry Animals is a landmark album that showcases the band’s creativity and willingness to push musical boundaries. Its innovative sound, engaging lyrics, and high production quality make it a standout in the Britpop era. While its eclectic nature might not appeal to everyone, the album's influence on the music scene and its contribution to the cultural landscape are undeniable. Despite some minor drawbacks in cohesiveness and accessibility, "Fuzzy Logic" remains a compelling and influential work that continues to resonate with listeners today.

Never heard of Fuzzy Logic but I really liked this album. You can see a lot of modern bands' sound following in the footsteps of this band. Really enjoyed it!

May 28, 2024 HL: "Something 4 the Weekend", "If You Don't Want Me To Destroy You", "Hometown Unicorn", "Bad Behaviour", "Death By Melody" (bonus), "(Nid) Hon Yw'r Gân Sy'n Mynd I Achub Yr Iaith" (bonus) It's been about a year since the last SFA, but in the meantime I found an album involving Gruff Rhys, called Praxis Makes Perfect. They (the project Neon Neon) toured with it as an immersive theatrical experience, about the life and times of Giangiacomo Feltrinelli. You know, that Italian socialist activist and fighter of censorship, active during the 50's and 60s? (I didn't know him either) My point is, the seeming ease in which SFA comes out with eccentric, unconventional stuff makes them a pretty intriguing act to learn about. And while Fuzzy Logic is a little easier to follow than Rings Around the World, the flair for experimentation & genre switching is there. I'm listening to the "B Sides & Such", including tracks sung entirely in Welsh, and it is good. Now, having listened to all the b-sides, I'd even say there's a better 12-track album hidden somewhere between the normal tracklist and the bonus ones. As released, Fuzzy Logic is still pretty damn neat.

Ahead of their time.

some of it's catchy and fun, some of it sounds like generic British pop

I was happy to receive this unexpected surprise on this day, my birthday.

This album and group exceeded expectations by a lot. They have a unique sound and hard to believe this is a debut album. Good find...had never heard of them.

Wonder how I missed that. This was great.

Kinda funky strange but made for an entertaining 37 mins

god i love britpop

I love this kind of goofy, irreverent indie rock. Throw in some psych and I'm extra sold. SFA are just impossible to not bang your head along to.

Love this band, love this sound

four fun and funky stars

Overall this album was good. It kind of sounds like an alt-rock, Smashing Pumpkins-esque fusion with some good Britpop sounds. Some good tunes in there and I was never dissatisfied with what I was hearing.

Another great record by these. I cant believe how criminally underrated they were (by myself). Always knew of them but never listened to them until 1001 albums, despite loving a few Gruff Rhys records. Recognised a few songs too which always helps. Im always a sucker for bands that merge a few genres together, these are one of the them. Somewhere between punk, indie, and a bit pysch. But better than that, they arent a jack of all trades type. Kinda how I’d describe Flaming Lips actually. 4.5

Preferred this to "rings around the world". They were not on my radar at all when I was younger but I did recognise a few tracks here. Highlights: God, show me magic Something 4 the weekend I'll be back

chaotic, fun, and surprisingly good

Top tier

Absolute better. Perhaps the best Wales has ever had to offer. Heavy, dense, psychedelica infused fun.

solid but inconsistent, missing a song that really sticks with you. still very smooth and enjoyable if you let it take you along for the ride

Wacky, ecstatic and full-on Beatlesesque, this is hard not to like. And they certainly have fun with the fuzz, don't they? Best cuts are “Something 4 the Weekend,” “Hometown Unicorn,” and "Destroy." Just a helluva lotta fun throughout – give me these cats over way taking-themselves-too-seriously Oasis and Blur any day.

I am really enjoying their sound. They've clearly influenced many other artists I like.

Really enjoyable.

Kinda funky in a weird way. And I tend to like weird stuff as long as it's not weird for the sake of being weird.

may have to re listen to this one at some point, some songs are kinda all over the place and others are really nice and pretty to listen to, but i could see myself growing to like pretty much every song on this album. at times the vocals are not my favorite, but again i think it could grow on me favorites: Hometown Unicorn, Long Gone, If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You

Liked this. Got a bit repetitive though.

Much better than I remember. Super accessible. Poppy psych rock

solid, hooky, i couldn’t understand the lyrics but i bet they’re very clever

This album is like the Beatles making a soundtrack for a Tarentino movie. At first I didn’t like it at all. The more I listen the more I dig it. Is that a theremin? Or is it the weird thing the MC 505 groove box could do?(track is bad behavior)

Hat etwas von den Ärzten in Englisch

In another universe, this is my shit. In this one I don' have the time and attention necessary to get into this.

Quite a diverse collection of songs, but definitely glam and Bowie influences are discernible. It's a likeable album if (as some critics have picked up) a little too eclectic. Show me magic, Hometown Unicorn and Hangin with Howard Marks edge this to 4*

Here I am, 44 years old, walking the dog at 7:20 on a dark, dull, muddy December morning; tears in my eyes as the sunshine goodness of Hometown Unicorn floods my ears. Bias acknowledged, I was 16 when this record came out and have loved it ever since. Was thrilled (and surprised) when it popped up on the list. Unbelievably good run of songs at the start. Close to a 5 but I reckon that is rare territory and there are a couple of slightly flatter tracks later on. Head and shoulders above the Britpop nonsense that was happening at the same time. "You and I, United by itemised bills"

something for the weekend rules, rest are really enjoyable definitely 4+ stars

Messy, noisy a bit strange! Might need a 2nd,3rd or 4th listen.

Surprising, fun, upbeat

Super Furry Animals…. Not what I was expecting thank god. This album was one of the better ones I’ve heard so far simply because all the songs sounded different. The wide range of sounds and styles made every song feel unique from the last. Some of the sounds can be a bit strange but didn’t feel repetitive which is refreshing if you are in the mood for a bit of variety when it comes to listening to an album. No one song stuck out as a hit, but the album as an entire experience was great. I’ll be listening to this album again for sure especially on a road trip. 8/10

This album is not my favorite Super Furry Animals album, but it was still quite good. It is primarily a Britpop album that has been influenced by psychedelic music, experimental music, and the Madchester scene. The vocal delivery, in pure Britpop form, is reminiscent of the Beatles. There are parts of the album that had almost a pop-punk feel as well.

good stuff. listened to them a little when they came out; wish I'd listened to this album tho

I liked it, reminded me of ween

"Something 4 the Weekend" and "Hometown Unicorn" are stand out tracks. Punky, psychedelic and nonsensical lyrics. 3.5 stars rounded up.

I really was surprised by this band. Quirky, catchy, and a precursor to a lot of modern rock. These guys are innovators and I love it!

I enjoyed this one. Lots of different genres and styles but it all worked. Will listen again.

Feel like I can trace the before and after of this band, with all the fuzzy-power-pop of The Cars and the Replacements, and on the other end you have the likes of Fountains of Wayne and The Dandy Warhols. I like it, I just don't think it keeps up the momentum throughout the whole thing. Favorite tracks: "God! Show Me Magic", "Something 4 The Weekend", "Frisbee"

Really enjoyed this

Kind of fun

I enjoyed this album a lot. It was a really solid listen and it was very cohesive. It went by so fast I was left wanting more by the end of it. I actually didn't know the album looped when it finished so I listened to the first half again without even realizing it. Overall good album and it put the Super Furry Animals on my radar

Kind of a fun album...maybe on the upper tear as far as brit pop type albums goes. 3.5/5

Weirdly good

Man, I'm really finding that I like these guys quite a bit. Their influence on Random Access Memories is so readily apparent, but I'm also hearing a strange amount of Radiohead in some of these tracks? Pretty cool band. Favorite track: Mario Man

Fuzzy Logic begins in the middle and draws you in from beginning to end. New group for me and quite a treat. So happy to discover this group!

Fan-fucking-tastic. T.Rex for the 90s! I'll be digging in deep with these guys.

Tracks seemed short at first but it grew on me.

In coincidence news that will interest no one, was singing demons off their second album as I was refreshing this page for todays album, imagining to myself if I got that album. You should listen to that album next if you even vaguely like this. This debut album isn't as good, but is still worthy of your time - varied, fun, a bit psychedelic at times, catchy, and doesn't take itself seriously. It has a few weak songs on it but overall it's a breath of fresh air even now. I was amazed to see people on here calling it the worst of British music at the time, it's so much more inventive and fun than most of it. Give me this over oasis and the verve every day of the week! Not sure I can trust anyone who can't enjoy this. I think of this as a post modern album, taking elements of psychedelia, British prog, rock and pop, and deconstructing them. It's also playful and whimsical and endearingly naive, from some young welsh men exploring their influences. It's earnest in its own way; these guys don't have a lot of affectation and their attitude is refreshing. They really hadn't come close to their true powers of songwriting on this album so I was surprised it's on here; I hope radiator and rings around the world is too but I'd be surprised if they had 3 on this list [mwng is also excellent and guerilla very good, even spaced out the b sides is very enjoyable]. That said, I think this album is great and I'm glad this sort of stuff didn't get overlooked on this list in favour of only the very "insisting upon itself" stuff of this era like oasis, verve, blur... Enjoy all the little details in this one, and relax, dont take it too seriously. SFA were a big part of my teen years and one of the first bands I saw live. Tempted to give this 5 stars as a biased retort to all the unfair one star reviews on here, but 8/10 is fairer

Just a whole lot of fun. It's nice to come across a Britpop band that seems to actually enjoy playing music. Best track: Bad Behaviour

A collective of Super Furry Animals. An Animal Collective, if you will.

Every time I put on this debut I forget how much I quote this in my life. Although I got old enough to be more focussed on the Dad rock Sessions of the last Albums from Phantom Power onwards I have to admit that this fuzzy, yelly, bratty whirlwind of a record is super important for my own understanding of what really was important on the waves of so called Britpop.

Another completely new one to me. Feels like British indie in the same vein as The Shins or something. Something 4 The Weekend feels a lot like a Spoon song, but I can't quite place which one. The whole guitar breakdown and composition is identical. I've had this on in the background and have generally enjoyed the vibe. Gathering Moss kind of feels like a Blur song -- standout to me so far. Mostly had this going in the background, and while it didn't command my attention often, it was enjoyable. I give it a 4/5 and deserves another listen.

Had never heard of this band before. But this album is pretty quirky and unique sounding. Really enjoying it. God! Show me Magic was a great start. Have definitely heard Something 4 the Weekend. Jam of a song. Solo on Hometown Unicorn slaps. Gathering Moss could’ve been written by Syd Barrett. Great chill tune. Fun fact: The devil brother from Little Nicky is speaking during the song Long Gone on the answering machine. Overall I really enjoyed this and sounds refreshing af to me. There were some inconsistent parts to it but over really good. Wish I could give it a 4.5 but I’m gonna round down to a 4.

I'm surprised this made it onto the list. It's good, it's like a bit derivative of 1960s music, like a lot of indie was around the mid nineties. It's got some extremely energetic tracks and great use of the theremin! Lovely guitar-based rock. I would listen again. Is it on a par with 'Dark Side of the Moon'? I am still working my head through my scoring system, but 5 is perfect, 4 is excellent, 3 is very good, 2 is ok but not great, and 1 is unlistenable. There almost needs to be a sixth rating to enable more variation between 3 and 1. 3-rated albums will have a big range of listen ability. So I think this is a 3... But it's very good, so maybe it IS a four.

I can't really explain why I liked this but I did.

I forgot about them

Here's another one of those bands I've circled around for years but never properly listened to, and that's a damn shame. This is really fun stuff. Another album I'll definitely be revisiting often and another catalogue I'll have to explore further...

An interesting mix of different styles and an eclectic collection of strong songs from the band's debut record. This approach can be risky and hit and miss, but fortunately there are more hits than misses. Their music offers a lot of things I like, with a retro 60's sound, modernized for the mid-90's, so I really enjoyed the whole record. I need to explore the rest of Super Furry Animals discography and see how the rest of their career played out. By the way, one of the best band names I've heard in a while!

Lotta fun, might've liked the later one better

I have heard about the band before but never listened to an album before today. It's a great rock album with elements of pychedelic, pop and glam rock. There are many great melodic songs on it which are quite accessible, but not too accessible. I liked it!

Bring back the 90s
