Reviews (page 4 of 7)
It was all ok and they explored different areas. But it never really rose above ok. It was ok.
There's some talent and variety here, but it doesn't ever hit the "good" for me. A light 3.
Veey cool, some great tracks. Excellent band
Minder om et 70’ere album hvilket er ret sejt. 6/10
Super Furry Animals - Fuzzy Logic 6.5/10 Good songs God show me magic Something 4 the weekend Frisbee Bad behaviour Hanging with Howard marks Weak songs Gathering moss Decent album the rockier songs are a lot stronger than the psychedelic influenced ones such as gathering moss
Solid '90s indie pop music. Nothing particularly compelling to me. Better/different than my preconceived idea of what they were about so they get 3 instead of 2 stars.
Listened to it on the flight to SF and fell asleep during it 😩 it seemed fine tho
They remind me of a trippier weirder beatles—not sure if that’s accurate at all. Doesn’t do much for me, but reading about them was interesting. I liked their hit Something 4 the Weekend.
This sound like something Patrick and SpongeBob put on when they hotboxing underneath Patrick’s rock.
This shit hit for me. Not in a way that I'm going to listen to Super Furry Animals all day every day for the next 2 months, but in a way that I can appreciate the amount of effort and musicality that went into crafting this album in 1996. I'm glad to have been exposed to Super Furry Animals and I can say I genuinely enjoyed most tracks on this album.
I like the bands that Apple Music says they were inspired by, but not loving this.
I really thought I would like this album. It came out in the mid 90s, it’s Brit Pop, unfortunately it’s not very good.
Another one I've seen a lot and probably dabbled in, but didn't really know too well. Very cool album. One that I'm sure I would have been more into if I'd either had access to more indie music or a friend that turned me on to them. These were the days before Spotify so radio, physical media or word of mouth was it. I enjoyed it and think I'd like it more and more as I learned it.
Did they give every guy that could play a guitar in England a record contract in the 90's? Its just pulp if they discovered a distortion pedal. Its not bad, but doesn't really tread in any sort of new territory.
90s BritPop with a bit of madness thrown in
It was fine, but I don’t think anything in it grabbed me.
liked it. but didn't stand out to me.
It’s ok.
nice enough. didn't previously know.
There's something about overly wet riff-heavy tracks on this album that are super difficult to engage with. It's like music meant for a pizza delivery montage. Conversely, the sparser tracks feel like the best of Damien Albarn's output. I like to think that, being reasonable, any album that has 40% tracks that I find enjoyable is pretty good so I'm rating this album at a 3. Which is to say: on the average of really critically important albums.
Decent power pop
Nice enough but not finding much in the way of standout moments in this particular album. I get a similar slacker vibe from this to that I get from pavement and others of that ilk but others may have done it better than this album. Potential to rate it higher than I have but in my opinion they later refined their sound more (‘rings around the world’) and put out a generally better album (‘mwng’) as they progressed - surprised this particular one was included on the list.
I didn't really like this. Whether it be post-punk or neuvo-punk or some facsimile. Why? I often really like the genre, even rather enjoy it, but here... I suppose it is simple math in the end. I felt it was too "wall of noise" and kind of jarring. I never quite "settled" on a groove or a riff as it kept being too busy. Punk does not mean loud and throw it all in. Maybe that is part of it. I feel that punk (and post-punk) as with metal and such, suffers this kind of "it is a lot of loud noise" but it shouldn't be that. It is often more subtle and nuanced. This was tolerable to listen to but it does not, for me, represent the true form of the genre.
Too acid
Послушал несколько раз, музыкальный калейдоскоп, в духе 90-х. Всё же не совсем моя музыка.
Test
Definitely don't need 2 Super Furry Animals albums on this list. Pretty good though.
This album didn't stand out to me in any particular way.
6/10…power pop / brit rock
Reminds me a lot of Portugal the Man. Love the harmonious music in major key (and specially the guitar work), the dissonant stuff much less so. Same for the vocals. When there’s actual singing it’s great but the off key, unedited parts are rough. Lyrics nothing special. A few solid guitar solos. Listened to: walking around Fort Greene. Favorite tracks: Something 4 the Weekend, Gathering Moss, God! Show Me Magic
No me gustaron mucho los sonidos sintéticos. Poco memorable, pero tampoco es molesto.
Strong opening song, hadn't heard of this band but enjoyed most of this album.
The brits just had a whole other 90s, eh?
Having absolutely loved "Rings Around the World", I was hopeful for another great one from Super Furry Animals. Unfortunately, I wasn't really blown away by "Fuzzy Logic". It's fine Brit Pop but not at the level of their later work. Well, it's a debut album and everyone's gotta start somewhere. It's an alright listen, but Blur does it better.
Some really catchy parts but all in all sounded like a bit of a racket to me.
Solid, still not my thing.
3 stars It’s up my alley- 90s fuzzy guitar. But I’m not going to lie, I listened to it almost 3 times through and I couldn’t hum a song. I know I liked it but it has t stuck yet. That’s 3 stars that is.
Fun, poppy, kitchen sink-ish production. A good time. I'd listen again but I wouldn't likely reach for it.
Decent glammy Britpop, but not much more than that.

1. God! Show Me Magic - 6 Great instrumentals but the lyrics is one line repeated endlessly. Could be a lot better but the sound of the music itself is decent. 2. Fuzzy Birds - 3 David Bowie but without the quality. Verses have some strange sound effect on the vocals that make it sound like someone underwater is trying to sing to you. Instrumentally it's okay in the choruses but barely there in the verses. Not a great track. 3. Something 4 The Weekend - 7 Better sound with enjoyable verses. Almost reminds me of the better tracks from The Beatles. Choruses are the wrong octave/pitch and it makes the words undecipherable. 4. Frisbee - 4 Again the guitars and drum sounds great. The lyrics are what make this very unenjoyable. The verses aren't even that bad but the choruses are drowned out and led out with some random vocal sounds that just don't belong on the track. 5. Hometown Unicorn - 8 Decent sounding song. Kind of a throwback to 70s/80s Brit pop-rock bands but overall a great and enjoyable track. 6. Gathering Moss - 4 Bit of a pass over track on the album. Overall it's very average. 7. If You Don't Want Me To Destroy You - 9 Solid track. Drums lead in and out of the lyrics brilliantly. The collection of strings alongside the guitars is lovely. Very fun. 8. Bad Behaviour - 6 Fun song until the bridge which is way too high pitched on the guitars and contain random sound effects. Outside of that, it's a very fun track. 9. Mario Man - 7 Sound is good. Vocals are bit too melodic but they're not bad and the bridge has an absolutely insane guitar solo that is worth the price of admission. 10. Hangin' With Howard Marks - 7 Lyrics are terrible but the guitar is awesome. Drum also helps lead the song in and out of the tone changes on it. Both guitar solos are the absolute highlight of the track and for good reason, they're excellent. 11. Long Gone - 2 Lyrics are way too repetitive and the track just goes on for too long. Easily could have been a three minute track extended to five with random noises and guitar plucking. Completely unnecessary. 12. For Now And Ever - 3 Another track that's just too repetitive both lyrically and instrumentally. Better sound on the guitars than Long Gone but still not enjoyable. Average Rating: 5.50 Adjusted to 5-Point Scale: 2.75 Rounded Up: 3 Stars
This was really good but ultimately it felt like an album of moments rather than one complete masterpiece. I liked a lot of small things they did but in totality it’s not blowing me away.
this is the soundtrack that plays in my head when i have to go to a costco on a saturday and i don't know the layout and i'm getting overstimulated.
I worked in cannabis retail for about ten years and this was a band that a lot of folks liked, along with King Gizzard. I think it's fun and interesting but not revelatory. I'd give it four stars if it felt a bit more creative. As it stands, it's more of a mélange of many other acts.
As with the other album by this band in the book, this is a lot of fun. I do think it’s variety hurts it in the age of ALL THE MUSIC EVER IS AT MY FINGERTIPS. My thinking here is two fold - 1. It never really gets a groove, it just keeps moving on to the next thing. 2. I feel like this would need ten to fifteen listens just to start to grasp all that is going on. These aren’t really problems with the album but more a statement on the consumption of music nowadays, if you’re caught up in the endlessly self defeating listen to as much new music as possible or like me find yourself in rabbit holes of discovery - it’s hard to make a case (for the album oriented listener, anyhow) for an album that plays like a playlist as opposed to a singular vision. It is probably my own baggage keeping this from wowing me. I do like the almost survey of all popular music since 1966 feel of it, I almost think it accomplishes this better than the Blur Rubbish album. The psychedelic through line is very cool and inventive. I feel like if I had discovered this earlier or had a vinyl copy of it, I might have put the time in with it but under the auspices of on to the next thing… it’s hard to think there is much here to draw me back except for potential and the stature of the album.
Zany. Like a mash-up of Flight of the Conchords and The Kinks. Frisbee is a fine example of their weird rhymes and dry sense of humor. Listened to the original format of Fuzzy Logic and enjoyed the listen. Will check out more of their songs when I get a chance. (3.4*s) Let’s Get Fuzzy for the weekend!
The Super Furry Animals are a collection of kooks and their debut album is a fun, fanciful frolic. Never heard of them but perfectly fits in the British 90s alt-rock era. I was quite entertained by the record. Solid party album with quirkiness. The team throws in some punk and psychedelia to spice it up. Got a Albarny Oasis sound with a dash of The Kinks. All tracks pretty good with "That Man Don't Give a Fuck" and "Something 4 the Weekend" tops. Interested in more from the group. 3.15 stars for Fuzzy Logic.
I continue to be surprised by the number of britpop albums. As a fan of the genre I appreciate the sentiment but I'm not sure Robert Dimery needed to give pretty much every 90's britpop act an entry (or 2) on this list. Fuzzy Logic wasn't a bad listen, but not sure what makes it stand out as something I needed to listen to before I die. They sound like they had some fun making it but it did little to differentiate from other acts in this ilk. I chalk it up as another run of the mill britpop album. That certainly isn't the worst thing, though I expect I will mostly forget about Super Furry Animals after this listen. 2.81 stars
I had heard of this band but never heard any of their songs. Somehow, just from the year of the album, the album cover, and the name I knew exactly what they'd sound like. It's fine, but I think 1996 is the dividing line after which all indie-type stuff is for the youths, not me.
It created enough intrigue that I had to come back to it and listen to it a 2nd and 3rd time.
Good, strong 90’s vibe.
Too weird
Definitely feel the 70's and Bowie creeping through. Drags a bit in the second half.
Pretty cool. They definitely love Bowie
What if Wilco had ballz?
Is this more "Britpop wanker shit" from a book that seems to favour it? Kind of. This album is definitely a mess and is certainly all over the place. But I also found it kinda fun? In a sloppy, who-gives-a-crap sense at least? Most tracks have some great melodies, if only for a flash. Definitely won't be rushing for another listen, but not nearly as dreadful as other reviewers made it seem. I caught Super Furry Animals live way back in like 2005 or so (solid show!). Before listening to this I was only familiar with "Rings Around the World." 3/5
Cool but all over the place
Perus hyvää alternative rokkia. Ei tästäkään oikein paljon sanottavaa. Ehkä vähän tulee sillein oasis mieleen, mutta ei mitenkään valtavasti. Parhaat: God! Show Me Magic, Something 4 the Weekend
Can get a little repetitive, but there’s enough experimentation in here to keep it interesting. I wouldn’t say any of these songs were fantastic, but non were unlistenable either. Whole album felt very in the middle, but not entirely forgettable, so that’s good. I enjoyed it. 3/5
# Album Name: Fuzzy Logic # Artist: Super Furry Animals # Rating: 3/5 # Comments: Pretty average album for me. The author of the Q magazine must have been off his tits to approve the article about this being the best british album ever. # Top Tunes: show me magic / something for the weekend # Would I listen to it again? Nah
Pretty cool. They def love Bowie
Some great tunes on this. It starts strong and I like the final song, but in the middle there's a real lull where I didn't like the sound all that much. Just a bit too dissonant / fuzzy / detached for me.
The time when everyone think that British rock is all the same. Guys, are you pretending that the Beatles don’t exist and oasis don’t sound nothing like blur? And also this sounds rly good wtf are u thinking 3.5/5
Great debut, but they made much better albums, especially “Phantom Power” and “Rings Around the World.”
Interesting sound. Not a bad album. Not sure they were really as influential or cutting edge as their bio wants us to believe but not bad stuff.
This seems like something I should like, but after two tries, it didn't grab me. It seems like they were more concerned with their sound than with writing actual songs. Sorry, lads.
It was fun. Sounds a lot like the 90s indeed
Weird and all over the place. Not really memorable.
Besser, als ich erwartet habe.
First listen after free 3 months Apple Music enabled. Listened on walk to train station after work and on train (delayed!). End of 9.5 hour shift so bit tired. Complete newbie to Super Furry Animals so absolutely no expectations. Can hear Beatles influences of course, and latterly Blue and Oasis (peers or did they come after?). Psychedelic elements I quite like. No songs currently hooking into my brain but a pleasant listen and could see it growing on me.
The beginning is pretty strong and then it fades a bit towards the end. 6/10
Strikes me as one of those 90's bands that "don't like to be labeled" as far as their music goes. This shit is all over the place - I don't hate it, I'm just not sure what the plan is here. Starts off rockin', slides into a jam-band sound, was that a flute solo? Now here's one that sounds like a Social Distortion coverband. I can't figure it out. Points for making me try though.
Partly very good (God! Show me magic and Something 4 the weekend) but mostly very average. Still nice listening to the album.
Catchy yet inconsequential Brit pop
Found a new interesting artist here.
I don’t know. It’s ok. Nothing special here. A few good songs. Trying too hard
Damn close to a 4. A lot of the makings. Pretty original sound, right amount of weirdness, good progressions and quality. I just don’t see myself coming back to this based on personal taste. Nice work Super Furry Animals.
There’s something here, but its taking a while to grow on me. Its reminds me a lot of the arctic monkeys at times, Pavement on other tracks and Weezer occasionally. If You Dont Want Me To Destroy You is my favorite track. And damn does it remind me of Third Eye Blind - which Im sure the band would find extremely insulting, but hey, its whiney boy alt rock, so they're at a minimum cousins. Rounding up to 3 stars, but its really a 2.5
The first song was confusing the secound song was great. the lyrics were good and the sound, the furry animal were amazing.
To be honest, when I saw the title, I thought this was an album made by the Muppets. Ha. Thought these guys were alright. Didn't find anything too annoying and wasn't a bad listen. Nothing I feel the need to download or revisit, but generally enjoyed my listens. God! Show Me Magic, Hometown Unicorn and For Now and Ever were few tunes that stood out from the rest for this listener. Even thought Hangin' w/ Howard Marks sounded a bit like a Jesus and Mary Chain tune in the beginning. Anyway right down the middle for me and I'll give a 2.5. But I'm rounding up to a 3 because of the song titled Death by Melody. Hahahahahaha. Enjoy your time together. 2.5 2.5
Not my music but OK.
I've never heard of this artist or album, but I generally enjoy britpop. That being said, this is a very disjointed album with some really dumb lyrics. Not too bad, but far from the most interesting britpop I've heard.
If you want to listen to Blur making songs for Revolver by The Beatles then this is the album for you. Lucky for these guys i like those two things. Nicely paced album, good songs. Long gone into For Now and Ever is a nice closer, God! SHOW ME MAGIC is a good opener. Solid
Фурри зверушки. Idk, такое.
Very typical Brit Pop album from this era. I wa not familiar with any of the songs, but they were decent and the over all album was an entertaining listen. Nothing that made me want to revisit in the future though.
Well that was a fun little side trip on this whole listening to 1001 songs thing. Can't say I expect to hear another from them before my quest is done, but if one does come up, I'm sure it will be because it's deserving.
Fuzzy Logic has a lot of familiar sounds: hints of Britpop, psychedelic rock, and glam; and on paper, it seems like something I’d really enjoy. But for whatever reason, most of it just doesn’t click. There’s a quirky charm throughout, but the hooks rarely land, and nothing really sticks after the listen. It’s not bad by any means, just oddly unmemorable. Maybe it's one of those albums that needs the right mood to really hit?
Interesting album that I have never heard before. Not like the music that I listened to in the 90's, it's more rockish I guess. It's not a bad listen, strange that I don't remember hearing them back when I was young. Probably a good choice for a get together where you don't want to play the same old stuff.
fun and super eclectic.
3.3 Didn't enjoy this as much as the other SFA album I had on here but still pretty good. Very Blur-ish (although one could argue this was still pretty early in Blur's career also, so maybe the fed off eachother) with some link back to 60s pop/psychadelica. Couple songs I've saved down, but not rushing back to listen to the rest.
It’s aight. Mixing pretty bad at points.
Somewhat unremarkable. Good production, seem to be solid musicians, decent vocals, just never connected to any particular song.
Fuzzy Logic is one of those albums where I kept waiting for something to click: some melodic hook, some emotional contour, some internal logic that would give me a handhold. After three full listens, I can confidently say: nothing stuck. Not in a “this is bad” way, but in a “my brain has nothing to file this under” way. It’s weird, sure. But it’s a kind of weird that evaporates as soon as the track ends. The songs feel like sketches from a very clever band who hadn’t yet decided what they wanted to be. There’s personality here, but not much architecture. Ideas fly past, collide, dissolve, and never resolve into anything with shape or weight. I don’t dislike it. I just can’t remember it. The album has charm, and I can see why it’s historically important for the band’s evolution, but as a listening experience it’s all surface-level eccentricity with no emotional or structural anchor. It’s playful, but not purposeful. Inventive, but not intentional. A collage of moments rather than a set of songs. A solid three: not unpleasant, not compelling, and not something I’ll return to unless someone asks me to explain why it didn’t stick.
Some decent riffs on here, kind of eclectic overall. Probably not something I'll return to, but interesting to listen to a few times. 3.5/5
Nice Britpop with a mix of psychedelic pop, guitar rock, and more punk-styled songs. This was fun. There was also a lot going on, so I think I’d enjoy it more the more I listen to it. Feels like the sort of album that gets better as you learn all the weird little left turns and detours that the music takes. Sometimes the vocals held me back a bit from enjoying this more, but I liked it overall.
Pretty nice album, but it kind of goes by without me really feeling like I heard something incredible. It did get better as I listened, and I definitely understood it more once I got to the 5th/6th song on the record. There's some nice moments- the standout song "Something 4 the Weekend" is an enjoyable listen and reminds me a bit of a 90s/early 2000's alt indie rock sort of sound. "If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You" has some inventive vocal parts, with some pretty falsetto moments that subvert expectations of where a melody will go, all while being a pretty song. I originally wanted to give it a 2, but I think it's maybe a 2.8, just high enough to round up to a 3.
Generic 90s rock. It’s not bad though.
Really pleasant record from a group I had never heard of before. Spacey and experimental, very mellow. Great effects, vocals and instrumentation. Dig this one.
Fine but nothing standing out.
Geinige pop-muziek. Leuk album. ***
Čak mi je na moje iznenađenje dobro sjeo album! Zanimljiv mix svega i svačega. Solidna 3/5, 6/10
I think I understand the concept of “fuzzy logic” now. It’s like including an ok album in a list of “essential listens” just because it’s tangentially related to britpop.
These UK rock albums are just a little too numerous on this list, it seems like a Beatles or Kinks tribute album but with way more distortion. Its not bad but it doesnt try anything new, moreso aping their peers than trying their own thing.
Honestly I’m so over these so called “iconic” British rock albums that all sound like Oasis crossed with the Beatles. England is creatively bankrupt apparently
just okay. not dazzling
They have 2 albums here?? I swear I have never heard anyone in real life talk about this band, and Rings Around the World was honestly one of the most boring, uninteresting albums on the list to this point. This one did have some flavor though, I kinda liked it but didn't love it.
A lot of diffrent styles, sometimes all over the place. The upbeat songs work best and there's catchy hooks and good songs everywhere.
Tuntematon ysäribändi Walesista
1996 l. A bit of rocking, mostly alright with a few winners.
Am I the only one who could not find a version of this album shorter than 2h 37m? I liked the music well enough, and the Welsh was fun to listen to, but at this kind of run time does it still qualify as an “album” and not a “boxed set?”
Chose to go weird to distinguish themselves in the 90s rock sound. It doesn’t help. Rounding up.
I rather liked this, I thought it would be silly and there is an element of that, but it didn't make me stop it. 3 stars.
An interesting blend of styles and eras, but not one that really gelled with me.
Good album but not great.
A bit chaotic at times. It's mostly fine and quite fun.
Glamorous songs, happy and funny. Good mood.
I guess the album is fine. Though there is nothing original, nor song to like.
This is very cool mid nineties British indie rock. I like this kind of music, I’m not sure you have to listen to it before you die if it’s not your thing.
I do remember liking this once. Now it’s just ok
Something 4 the weekend was a highlight. Most songs had a fun vibe. Some went on a little long with noise though. Better than the previous album I listened to by them
Psychedelic Britpop that doesn't break much ground. It's fine if you like this kid of stuff. My tastes for it wax and wane.
For now and ever é um bom achado musical. Gostei da composição geral do álbum, apesar de ser bem comercial, com muita instrumentação e efeitos na voz
The definition of okay
I liked this, though it's a high three for me rather than a four. I suspect it would grow on me if I listened to it a few times though. Liked the Welsh accents!
Uneven, goes in many directions... fuzzy and balladic, very 90s brit pop
I think I would have enjoyed this had I paid attention to it when it came out. So while I was happy to listen to it now for a couple of times, I can't see myself going back to it.
bit odd and eccentric
Edgier Brit pop but still feels A bit bound by that sound
first listen decent stuff i guess
I like the music but it’s not my favourite band. So it’s average and nothing more
The Beatles and their consequences have been disastrous for mankind.
As perfectly mid tier as it gets
After listening to the first song, I thought I wasn't going to like this album. But giving it a chance and listening to it all the way through, I caught myself liking a lot of the album. Way more than I initially thought. I can't believe they used (I think) a train whistle in one of their songs. I had to rewind because I couldn't believe what I heard. Anyway, yeah, it was cool.
Pretty good.
Over-represented on the list....I think they are ok
I liked more it the second time around I listened to it. But quite frankly, there was a point that I lost interest. And that's never good. Also, songs like "Long Gone" were WAY too repetitive. Top tracks: "Something 4 The Weekend," "Hangin' With Howard Marks," "Frisbee"
I like this album better than their other album on this list but I'm not sure I can quite creep up to a 4. Kind of reminded me of Zappa at times with their strange lyrics and diverse sounds, plus Rhys' half-singing half-speaking vocals (see especially For Now and Ever). At times I was also reminded of Syd Barrett. High energy off the hop with God! Show Me Magic and later with Bad Behaviour. Something 4 the Weekend definitely reminded me of other Britpop bands of the time like Supergrass while Frisbee had a cool post-grunge alternative sound (Husker Du, Sugar). If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You felt more like Blur while Hangin With Howard Marks felt more like Oasis. I think if the album was more consistent I would've given it a 4, but it was a bit too eclectic. Strong 3.5 though.
It wasn't bad by any means, but for some reason I got tired of it towards the end. Normally I'm into this kind of music, though.
Ok but kinda passed right by Will I listen to again: 45%
Inoffensive. Formulaic. Pleasant but ultimately unmemorable. Maybe they should have become more well known? But at the end of the day the masses decide and we all probably got it right.
5.5/10
Kinda forgettable, but okay.
Surprsingly, not bad. Did not have high expectations, but better than I thought.
Well this is fun!
middlin' avant-garde jangle-pop adjacent rock. It's ok.
Good fun. Something for the weekend was great. 3.5 stars
I thought I was going to like this a lot more than I did. The first song was great, original and had a cool feel to it. It sort of fell off there for me. There are some cool parts throughout, but it never really stuck for me. It's a shame because I think they could have really made something great. I would be curious to listen to some of their other records based on this one. 3/5 Really, the best thing about this album was what Spotify brought up after the album ended.
I struggled to really get into this but I liked the composition of songs, with vocal forward tracks and cool electric guitar sounds. Hometown Unicorn and Something 4 the Weekend were neat. I guess it’s like a happier Red Hot Chili Peppers? Like Weezer and RHCP lol.
This was like my kind of music, but it's just kind of boring. It just happened in the background. I listened to a whole album and nothing stuck in my head. Fine, not one of the 1,001 best albums of all time though.
3.75
I just find super furry animals to be such a nothing band. Why do they have multiple albums? I’m sorry they’re not horrible but I don’t think they’re a band that really made a mark and I can’t see someone saying that they love this band. It’s listenable in fact its ‘nice’ but yeah. 3/5
This is quintessential psychedelic rock, which means I don't really get it or enjoy, but hey.
Goofy cheesy glam rock shit. I like it. On some songs the vocals sound weird. Favorite track(s): something for the weekend, hometown unicorn Will I revisit?: middle priority Current rating: 6/10
Fun vibe, though I don't know if there's much there there.
Not as good as juxstpozed
Truly never heard of these guys. I do have a feeling I may come across a song I have heard of. But this is interesting. They actually remind me of a band called OK Go. These guys seem fun. Cool songs. I give this album 3 stars
Oh boy

cute
Some nice sounds, good start, but quickly a bit boring
we have britpop at home
A fun listen that is pretty well up my well-versed alley of 90s alt-rock. Nothing groundbreaking but pretty enjoyable.
Fuzzy Logic basically refines the psychedelic sound of the 1960s. It's a good album, but it's not groundbreaking in the same way others on this list are. Best Songs: Something 4 the Weekend, Hometown Unicorn Worst Songs: Frisbee, Hangin' with Howard Marks
So we have another 90's British (Welsh, in this case) band inspired by the sounds of the 60's and 70's, and trying to both imitate and iterate on that sound. How many times have I been here before? And how many more times can I come here and still find it interesting? Look this is a fine album and all. But I just don't find the idea of another band playing musical dress up as a psychedelic band all that fun at this point. The list is too littered with such bands, especially when spots are precious. So I admittedly came into this album with that prejudice. I will say - I liked what I heard. I just didn't find it to be that interesting or have anything new and exciting to say or do with the genre. There are a lot of standout tracks purely because I feel like I was meant to like this given the band's influences. But it wasn't surprising in any way. Bummer, because there's a lot to like here and a lot of potential. Three stars. Standout Tracks: God! Show Me Magic, Something 4 the Weekend, If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You, Bad Behaviour
I quite like the sound.
I bet 8-year old me would have loved to skip all the slow tracks and run around the house to the fast tracks. Current me, however, is mostly just interested in checking out the rest of their discography, seeing as their later albums seem to be held in higher esteem. And indeed, this album most of all sounds like a promise of what's to come.
Day365 - i thought i wouldn’t like it but the genre blending sounds works.
Better than the Beatles
Revea thoughts: No idea. Slightly tedious. Kind of sounds a bit wanna be punk-ish, but not quite as obnoxious. It was fine.
Good. Catchy, if a bit forgettable 90s Brit pop.
6/10 fave: something for the weekend
Sure, decent
I liked the album, but I can’t give it higher than a 3 since nothing really stood out.
Not bad. I could hear some David Bowie influence on this one
This kind of dragged toward the end but I enjoyed the beginning. Not quite a 3, it's a 2.5
I should like this band more than I do. I enjoy their songs but they haven’t grabbed me as a whole.
God nok, en del bedre energi end jeg er vant til fra britpop albums
aldrig hørt en Super Furry Animals plade før, good time!
Was quite interesting. Loved the first song and the album would've been nice if it kept going at that pace, but lots of different styles and variety. 3.49 ;)
The lead singer sounds like David Bowie. This is actually not bad, I was expecting to hate it.
Favourite track: Something 4 the Weekend.
Rock mit gemischten alternative/psychedelic Einflüssen. Interessant, teilweise etwas wild. 3/5
I didn't really want to enjoy this. Of all the rock and indie eras I don't need to hear more of, 90s/00s British indie rock is top of the list. But I have to admit this album wasn't bad. It certainly had some sneaky hooks and nice moments, though overall it did still kinda bore me and wash over. Fave Tracks: Fuzzy Birds, If You Don't Want Me To Destroy You, For Now and Ever 3/5
8.0/10 1996. Debut. Punk Rock/Glam Rock If You Don't Want Me To Destroy You
Had a little bit of a glam rock sound, while still feeling very 90s.
Its like they recorded an album and only the first 4 songs were inspired so they dispersed them throughout to make it seem like it wasn't so bad.
Pretty solid rock music, don't really have much to say about it
Average 90s rock
Fun album from someone I hadn't heard of. Sounded equally from 90's, 00's and 70's.
I had 0 expectations from this album, but I really enjoyed it. This has been downloaded and will be listened to again! I had never listened to them before but feel I have seen them live at a festival once. I was not expecting all different types of genres. Rock at the core and a little Springsteen thrown in with elements of pop, psychedelic, glam and everything you can think of. Fantastic melodies but lacking a couple of real bigger hitter on the album that would make it memorable. It’s a 3/5 but nearly a 4 Favourite song: Something for the weekend Least favourite: Everything was worthy of being on the album Album artwork: Cool cover
It's an interesting mix of 90s alternative, 70s rock, and 60s pop-psychadelia.
overall just fine, but the last couple songs in particular were great
Britpop. Ni fu ni fa.
Bien, sin más.
Can’t get this in Canada. I had about my fill of this band though.
It’s ok, in a Blurry sort of fashion.
3/5. This was good, I mean I didn't feel super invested but I wasn't bored save a song here and there. This was a solid front to back pop-rock album with distorted vocals and guitar, kind of like more accessible shoegaze. It wasn't a bad listen and it might grow on me but it was good and nothing more for now. Best Song: God! Show Me Magic, Something 4 The Weekend, Hometown Unicorn
Pas tellement plus impressionné que leur autre album que j'ai eu par le passé. 6/10
Not my favorite british rock, but a good amount of history can be heard and found in this album!
Not blown away by this
Okay listening. It's a nice mix of instruments, including some piano in there that I don't usually pick up.
good but not really my jam
I already knew - and loved! - Something For The Weekend and If You Don’t Want Me To Destroy You. I have also liked a very large number of SFA singles over the years but never ventured into a full album. So I went into this with high expectations and… I was a little disappointed truthfully Nothing bad, but nothing else close to the quality of the songs I already knew
Fun. Sometimes sounded kinda David Bowie, other times it was a very indie rock sound, and then sometimes it had a very punky Clash-like sound. All in all I enjoyed it, but it wasn't really the flavor I particularly like and it wasn't all that memorable for me. Three stars.
Very alternative, very 90's. Crazy blues rock rythmns and psychedelic riffage and leads. Very enjoyable album. Reminds me of Superchunk, Built to Spill, a bit of Oasis. Fun stuff.
the first guys that said "super fucking mario"
3.1 1.x
Kinda trippy, nothing special!
Nothing special.
This album is ok. I'm about to list all the songs I like, and you're going to think "if you liked so many songs why is this just ok?". Well, while I liked them I am not sure I really loved anyone. I also just don't think this album is doing anything new or interesting. It's not bad overall though. I liked "Something 4 The Weekend", "Hometown Unicorn", "Gathering Moss", "Bad Behavior", and "Long Gone". Definitely enough I liked to not rate this lower than a 3* but if you already don't tend to be a fan of this genre of music you could probably skip it I think.
This was ok.
Genuinely fine. Not much else to say, liked it but probably wouldn’t repeat.
I am not really sure why this album was included. It sounds like it was recorded in 20-30 years before it was actually released. The album cover also looks like it made in the 70's. The only thing that kind of sounds modern is the guitar tone. This album isn't bad, but it isn't pushing any boundaries, and it isn't phenomenal, so I am just confused why I "have" to listen to this before I die. Inoffensive, and I will forget I ever listened to this in a week. This guy's voice also sounds straight out of the late 60's or early 70's, and I mean that in the worst way possible, because he isn't a good singer. FYI for people on Spotify, track 12 is the end of the official release. 3.
Nothing wrong with it. I would love to see a live show. Gotta be in the right mood.
Although I clearly remember SFA achieving "next big thing" status among my friends, the truth is that I clearly never engaged with the band, as my expectations for Fuzzy Logic were a little bit off. This is a solid rock album, liberally sprinkled with pop sensibilities. That said, as much as I enjoyed this album, some songs ran together in my head, and it will need a second listen to identify standout tracks. (Bad Behaviour being the major exception). A solid album that deserves a second listen. 3/5
This one was average, not sure if it is worth this rating but it’s a placeholder
Decent.
Kinda cool, but also gets old fast. Psychedelic rock
Straight ahead British rock. Lots of distortion on guitar. Good movie background music potential.
Sounds like a lot of their influences, from this album I can't tell what their own sound is like
I had Something 4 the Weekend on 7” back when this was out and have always really liked that song. The rest of the album is just a little bit too weird and messy for me, but there are some other cool ideas, for sure.
3.5
"Eclectic and inconsistent" is an apt descriptor of this album. I may be rating it higher than I should based upon my mixed feelings on this album, but I appreciate that it is something out of the ordinary. Unfortunately, it just doesn't always land, and even the best tracks have weak portions. Favorite track: "If You Don't Want Me To Destroy You."
Fuzzy Logic is the debut album by Super Furry Animals, originally released in 1996. This sounds a lot like the Britpop that was coming out around the same time. This leans a bit more into the glam rock side and even has some electronic elements sprinkled here and there. They seem to take a lot of inspiration from 70s rock (at least instrumentally). The vocals remind me a bit of The Beatles, with harmonies reminiscent of 60s pop. There's some psychedelic elements in here too. Didn't blow me away, but I enjoyed listening.
Stu - This is our second Welsh album. John Cale /Paris 1919 was the first. This was pretty cool. Didnt love it, but definitely enjoyed it. The version on Spotify is a deluxe edition from 2016, with like 30 extra songs. Tine Turner/Private Dancer was the same situation. For both of those, I looked up the track listing of the original release, and only listened to that. The original listing is a pretty solid, tight rock album. Like 40 minutes long. I would definitely not like 2 hours of this. Album cover: C/C-. I do not like it.
I actually really enjoyed what I listened to but... 47 songs? Would be a 4 but for that and the fact I can't make it through in under 2 hours it gets a downgrade.
This may be our first Welsh album? It had a lot of fun moments, but generally went on so long that it was hard to pick moments out of the haze. "Death By Melody" was the first song that made me turn and face my Spotify monitor. It was followed by "Something for the Weekend", which was also very fun. These songs have Arctic Monkeys undertones - I wonder if they were listening to this growing up. Unfortunately this album is just way too long, and that makes it hard for me to really enjoy it. This length of runtime erases an albums identity, and the interesting parts of their sound are shown to me so many times that they manage to become boring within the first listen-through. I do generally like it, but it's too much of it. 6/10
A nice album with some Beatlesqu moments.
Certainly different. Definitely late 90s Brit rock. Not bad.
like the band but the album is a bit noisy - though it does say fuzzy on the tin, so no complaints there
god show me magic- i hate their voices. 4 fuzzy birds- 4 something for the weekend- 6 frisbee- there was music playing? hometown unicorn-3 gathering moss- 4 or 5 if you dont want me to destroy you- 4 bad behavior- mario men- who cares
Never heard of this band before but was surprised how much I liked it, the last 5 songs were especially good!
Tracks 1 and 3 were very solid. I wonder if I had listened to this album in reverse order if these tracks would have sounded as good as they did. I liked it...pretty much. The songwriting and production wasn't anything outstanding, but it was a nice listen. They sound a lot like Blur, but without the variety. After a few tracks, they all sounded too similar to each other, but if you listen to this album 3-4 songs at a time, then you'll be okay.
Average britpop. Sounds older than it is. Stand-out: Something for the Weekend
Fuzzy, Magic, Noisy, and sometimes a bit much. 6/10
Excellent poppy rock! Couple of really excellent tunes on the album, but the thing as a whole was really good!
Kind of sounds like a flaming lips or Ok go but not quite as good or creative. Not a bad listen and I dug many of the songs. But a few songs lost me (like gathering moss). 2.75
Kind of all over the place. A few things I liked but didn’t really speak to me overall. 2.75/5
This band had no idea what they wanted to sound like and just figured they'd try it all. No necessarily bad songs, but I kept thinking it was other bands.
Mmehh...I thought it would be better.
Not really my thing but not bad.
Psychy, poppy, not the same as but makes me think of Dandy Warhols. Approaching punk warily. Have no idea how to characterize this (Fuzzy Logic impeding me all the way). Sure am enjoying the ride, though.
Solid Britpop.
I dig their chaotic energy, but their songcraft seems a bit lacking and I'm not sure their adventurous arrangements always help the songs. On top of that, they sound too much like other bands and fail to establish their own identity. having said all of that, the album is an enjoyable enough listen.
Many a time I've read an album review and was so moved I went and ordered the CD (eg, Noisettes) or streamed (eg, CharliXCX). I was pumped by the written intro for Fuzzy Logic---glam rock, psychedelic rock by a Welsh band. Sign me up! Nothing really captured me and I felt a bit ho-hum. This is not brat.
Wouldn’t listen to this again but it was interesting enough. I don’t like the guitar tones or the overall sound but they kinda won me over with some of the noise stuff. Bad behavior was my favorite, I like the poppy harmonies
Fine. Forgettable .
Good
Something 4 the weekend God! Show me magic Hometown unicorn
Basically just bounced off me, very generic sounding. The track with the most plays is clearly the one thats had a load of production effort put in and the rest feels very filler.
I expected a boring britpop snoozefest but it wasn't so bad. They were clearly influenced by a couple of big British artists that came before them, but it didn't feel like a blatant rip-off. Several songs were really good, some were kinda boring, but for the most part, I had a good time. Not an album I'd put on this list, but a decent one nevertheless. Highlights: Gathering Moss, God! Show me magic 3.5 stars
Great guitars that feel energizing!
Not my favorite album. I did enjoy something for the weekend very much.
I have no idea why this album is on this list. It's fine, I guess but that's not exactly high praise. It's not famous, I don't see anything unique about it, it's just a decent indie rock album. I almost took a point away just because of the group's god-awful name. So stupid.
Interesting but not quite for me
Felt very discordant and inconsistent
Something 4 the Weekend was really good, the rest just kind of passed me by as songs
3.8
Fun! I enjoyed it. Sounds a bit tinny though my bad speakers but that's not their fault. 3
This was quite a fun debut album from this Welsh band, but it took until their second album till they dared to step outside of this standard rock comfort zone. Only the first (and shortest) song on this album is really memorable.
This was a bit different to what I was expecting then to sound like but it was a pretty solid indie album! Another one I feel like my Dad would probably enjoy! Could really have done without the last 20 repetitive seconds of Bad Behaviour though.
This was a fun listen. Quirky psychedelic grunge pop. I liked how different all the songs were. Cool stuff
Never really heard them at the time and this album sounds very much of its time to me. I can imagine if it was your soundtrack to 1996 it could be a 5 star album, but at this remove for me it didn’t enchant so I’d give it a solid 3.5 stars.
Helt okej faktiskt. De andra recensionerna här överdriver verkligen, inte alls lika tråkigt och dåliga kvalité som de säger. Ändå lite basic men inte alldeles för långtråkigt. Gick att lyssna på.
pretty decently fun album. instrumentation and vocal performances are fairly strong. unfortunately, despite there being some moments onto his one that I enjoyed, I felt ultimately it was a pretty middling experience. on the good side of middling, but there wasn't anything here that stood out to me. in particular, I felt the songwriting just did not hook me at all. not a bad album, but not anything that I feel I will go back to
Not my favorite of theirs but ok.
I knew some of them and didn’t mind most of them.
Would rate it 3.5* if I could. Enjoyable, just not as enjoyable as other 4*
It's fun, but a slice of mid 90s brit rock I couldn't be arsed with
I only remember a couple of songs from the last album I got from this artist because it was so long ago but I looked at my review and it was pretty positive which may have informed my opinion of this album. Not much, though, because I’m pretty ambivalent about this one overall. Maybe because I’m a little buzzed/drunk and it’s been a long night or maybe just because it’s a pretty bland Brit rock type album overall.
Pop music. On their better sings you can hear some Bowie influence. Fun enough, but when the album repeated I was already getting tired of it, and I had never heard it before today.
Sounds very much like Blur off cuts, but there are worse bands to be slightly worse than.
I was looking forward to this having heard constantly how great they were. It was fine?
Joyful scuzzy indi. Bit of a joy. Better was to come though.
This album reminds me of my music buying youth. You hear a couple of good singles from the same band and on the strength of that you decide to buy their album. You'd excitedly rush home to listen to it only to discover that every song, other than the two you already liked, were absolute garbage. This is why I like modern streaming services - you can listen to anything without too much financial risk. To be fair though this one isn't quite as bad as that but it was an album & band that was on my buying radar back in the 90's. I loved the 'Something 4 the Weekend' single. It's still a great catchy song. 'If You Don't Want Me to Destroy You' was another single of theirs I liked. On the rest of the album they sound too much like they're copying Blur or the Beatles and not really pulling it off. I'd listened to this again though. 3- stars.
Not bad
2.5/5
eclectic and interesting. Lots to listen to. I didn't know about this album before this listen but I would def put it on again.
Almost great brit pop on top
good
3.5
Enjoyed this much more that “Rings Around the World”. Cool psychedelic parts and production, but it felt over done and cheesy at times
A little bit of mixed feelings here. I feel like the album started strong but couldn’t keep it up. Show Me Magic was a great, fun song. Probably my favorite on the album. But many of the songs right after that one sounded very superficially similar. Then there was a bit more musical variety. I would say it’s a good, but not special album. 3
Good classic alt rock. Nothing stood out but would add to the mix while working
Ok
so, i actually enjoyed this and again, would listen to the album in its entirety, it’s summery and so so british and liked it as cosy, fuzzy background listening that absorbed into my daydreams and put a smile on my face.
It was difficult finding the music to listen to. It was wasn’t bad.
Dated, at times, odd… but entertaining enough.
There is a charm here that’s not lost in their attempts to break through the noise and clutter of Brit-Pop. “Something 4 the Weekend” is fun and “If You Don’t Want Me to Destroy You” is thoughtful with some nice touches—strings and harmonies—even if it sounds like someone being sucked down to floor by the gravity of one too many pints.
Fine, forgettable.
Good fun
Cute and a bit quirky but a bit too Britpop for me. I still liked it. Listens: 1 Fave Track: God! Show Me Magic Rating: 3
I don't know, not terrible but not really good. It's what 3's are made for!
Massively enjoyed how soaked up by the glam and psych themes flowing through this one. At times I felt the production quality wasn't there
Good listen, but doesn't move me. Not sure why. I keep listening to it with a notion that it deserves 4 stars yet it registers as a 3 each time, which confuses me.
Not for me this one... ...'tho it got lots of good reviews, subjectively, just didn't connect.
3.7
This album is decent, honestly i was probably expecting a little more from it, know the song Something For the Weekend, but it was a little inconsistent the whole way through, both in sound and quality, although nothing on the album is bad, there just arent enough highs. Opener is okay. Up tempo, toe tapper. Track 2 Fuzzy Birds feels a little like a Bowie pastiche from the late 70s. Enjoyable enough Something 4 the Weekend is great, sounds like a hit, probably the pick of songs on the album For Now and Ever is a great closer. really enjoyed it I really enjoyed how it built the whole way through the end, just repeating the song title over and over, but building with different instruments and vocals the whole way through until its like a crescendo, a wall of sound, very good I think somewhere around the middle the album loses a bit of focus and then the run in at the end is pretty good. Mario Man has a nice little chorus with the 'DuDu's. There is probably a decent shout that the album is a grower too, maybe repeat listens would curve off a few of the edges that i don't like as much, but i do like it and as i said, there is nothing bad on the album. One of the songs sounds like Weezer a little, not saying that in a positive or negative way, it just does.
