Reviews (page 7 of 8)

Repetitive and droning. Some of it's OK, but it's not for me.

Maybe this is better at the club? This just all ran together in my ears.

different. usually don’t listen to EDM/experimental music like this. 2/5

This was ok but I didn’t love it

The thing is, I've just never really liked Big Beat. Give me proper techno, give me IDM, give me cut up sample jazz or Jungle/DnB. Or, if you must, give me the madness of The Prodigy. But this? Leaves me utterly cold. I wasn't crazy about this stuff then, and I'm surely not now. Aged like milk music for racing videogames (literally, here). And no, the last tracks just step on the brakes; that doesn't make them better. I didn't find this as obnoxious as Fatboy Slim's "You've Come a Long Way, Baby" but it's not far off.

Repetitive AF. I guess if you like techno/electronic it might be appealing, some of it has a nice groove.

Not really my genre. I can appreciate what is being done here and some elements I enjoyed, but ultimately will not revisit.

All beats

Ok album

Bland monotony.

Two stars is being kind. Too many electronica albums on this list.

Not my type of music

Heard of ‘em but never really heard ‘em. And I was ok with that. Now I’ve heard ‘em. But did I really hear’em?

This reminds me of like video game music, I just feel like I'm at a menu or loading screen or something as I listen lol. Was honestly super great for work and made it easier for me to lock in and stay focused, but not necessarily anything I would want to listen to casually and not sure if I'd go back personally.

The album had a movie soundtrack feel to me. I thought they did a good job of adding/changing a layer right as the phrase was about to repeat too many times. Not something I would listen to again but I could appreciate it as a basis for the genre.

Nie lubię elektroniki no.

I really liked Let Forever Be so I was expecting to like this album, but it's was just too repetitive.

It was better than Snivilisation, but I still didn't like it. Chemicals fans will go crazy about this one

Meh. I see why this is popular but it didn't do anything for me.

I don’t really think elelctronic/ dj albums like this and fatbot slim are for me. Especially the looping spoken word or vocals

An exceptionally fun album. Lots of standout tracks (heart of glass, one way or another, Sunday girl, I’m gonna love you too). Very engaging throughout. No skip album

Couldn’t get into it

I think this album was a little too annoying for me. For most of it, it is just the same beat blasted over and over again. It probably sounds a lot better in a club or something, but when I'm home and listening to this, it just feels weird to me. But if I'm being honest, EDM, House, or club music is not something I really like or care for. In conclusion, I found it to be really repetitive and just annoying to listen to after a while. Again, almost every song is just the same beat looped over and over again for five minutes. It's just confusing to me that they turned this into a whole studio album. Favorite Tracks: Leave Home, One Too Many Mornings Rating: 2/5

Noisy. A bit of a slog.

Okish electronic 90s album. I just miss any of the stand-out Chemical Brothers hits. Good to listen to while working and the final track "Alive Alone" was my favourite. That track felt more like trip-hop e.g Massive attack or Portishead.

Didn’t leave much of an impression

Pretty similar beats for the six song medley to start, improved as it progressed. Meditative background music for monotonous drive across Mojave Desert, looking for sand people or storm troopers to attack. L = (2.0*s) Movie score for interplanetary Star Wars film. J = (2.4*s) Didn’t know these brothers are Brits, we’ll be hearing them again.

Fine? Not my thing

Definitely felt like I was running around in the Matrix. Got kind of old pretty quick.

Leave Home 2.8 In Dust We Trust 2.4 Song to the Siren 2 Three Little Birds Down Beats 2 Fuck Up Beats 2.1 Chemical Beats 1.7 Chico's Groove 2 One Too Many Mornings 1.8 Life Is Sweet 2 Playground for a Wedgeless Firm 2.2 Alive Alone 2.4 Score: 2.127272727

Sounded very 90s and easy electronic music listen but ehh.

Beep boop

This kind of techno industrial was never my deal.

It’s interesting but I’m kind of bored/too repetitive

I quite like it but could only give 2.5/5

Honestly, I like both electronic music and trip hop and this album doesn't scratch either itch. Some interesting moments at the beginning and end of the album but otherwise pretty lacking. 2/5

Kickstarted a whole new era in ad music for cellphone plans, frozen yoghurt chains, gyms, and eco-friendly detergent commercials. Not that bad, not that good. Just… there.

I used to listen to a fair amount of this genre, so revisiting feels a bit surreal. The repetition doesn’t hit the same for me now and I don’t connect with it like I once did. Still, I remember how fresh and exciting it felt at the time, and it’s clear how much it influenced what came after. “One Too Many Mornings” still stands out and holds up beautifully. And “Life Is Sweet” delivers with that gritty, dirty beat that gives it real texture.

I just don’t like this type of music. At least this was better then the previous album of 90’s Gap background music.

First few tracks are ok then it starts getting boring. They seemed to only have a few ideas.

4.5 / 10. Not being the biggest fan of this genre I can’t say I found this album particularly note worthy. To me it felt like someone messing around on fruity loops for an hour and then split it up into separate tracks. Some catchy hooks and energetic beats but overall not my thing

This just wasn’t for me. I don’t mind some of their later singles (especially the ones which have vocals), but this just didn’t do it for me.

Solid but uninteresting. 2.5⭐️

More EDM repetition. big snoozefest.

Damn, I do not have robot ears!

This just seemed like one long rave mix. Fine for what it is I guess but the best part to me is the ‘69 Roadrunner on the album cover.

This is just background music. And if you pay too much attention you’ll go insane because it is just too damn repetitive. They didn’t even come back with a block rockin beat! Now I’m gonna go take the blue pill (or was it the red one) and go king du some agents.

Standout song Three little birdies down beats

Leider zu repetetiv und anstrengend zu hören. Hat seine Momente, aber reicht nicht für mehr.

So done with techno music, this was fine, not as dull as the others. But not great.

It’s been awhile, but this flavor of electronics shows up again. Could it be the last time? (This is a plea, not a speculation)

What a terribly boring album. It starts off quite okay with the first two tracks, then it becomes just a pile of bleep bleep without any music. 'Chico's groove' is once again rather listenable. But that's not enough. Really really boring.

More edm. What shock

Wasn't captivated by it in any way. Had higher hopes. Should probably give it a relisten at some point.

Every song sounds exactly the same. But I will say I love their OST for fight club

This is better than most electronic music, but it still sounds like video game music left on repeat.

Honestly? I have neither the knowledge or taste to weigh in on an electronica/techno album or artist. I can appreciate it not being another tired house music album, but it honestly didn't do anything for me all. Some of the tracks are fine, some of them overstay their welcome (Chemical Beats for example just goes on for far too long without enough variety).

I was 2 minutes into a track from another band before I realized the album was over and another was autoplaying. That is to say it all sounded the same and I didn’t care at all.

It’s ambient background music- it’s good ambient background music, but background nonetheless.

I had no idea this was electronic music prior to listening. Sounds like video game music.

This is the soundtrack to a Bourne movie. This is every action scene in the 90s. it's fine in those contexts, but I'm not a techno guy so I don't enjoy this on it's own. I like ranch dressing, I don't eat it by the spoonful.

When I was in college about ten years after this album came out there was a dude on campus that everyone knew as "Techno Guy" who would sit outside the student union building all day blasting loud techno from a giant boom box and doing these weird sort of robotic dances. He also wore a newsie hat and I don't know if he ever went to class because he was always there. I'm pretty sure this was one of his go to album. And like Techno Guy, this album was sort of interesting for about two minutes then just got annoying and I wanted it to go away. I will say that this album isn't nearly as bad as a lot of the electronic music that's out there. So an extra star for that I guess. 2/5

Alot of sounds. Kinda rave-y. Few decent songs, probably nothing i would actually listen in my own time. Did not hate it but did not really like either. The best song was 'One Too Many Mornings'

This was pretty dull. Was expecting some bangers.

In sequence the second album with skill - testing of programming drum computers and loop recorders. It starts to get boaring.

#539. Any one of these songs sound like they could have been used in a 'preparing for the heist' montage scene from Ocean's 11 or something. 2/5: it's something.

An ok electronic album in my eyes. No song really pulled me in but no song sounded really bad either. Very middle of the road for me

Better than Incubus, which isn’t saying much.

This historically famous album was used by the British to finalize plans to kill the Irish? How much ecstasy was in England in the 90s? This music has no appeal to me.

Their singles are bangers but this as an album was quite boring. Can see them finding their voice in this though

Enjoyable enough background music but nothing caught me. Not a genre I normally listen to.

I hate to sound so old but this kinda stuff sounds to me like disco did back in the 70s. I don't dance. So this does not make my feet itch.

Listened to the whole album, never really focused on it and I do believe it may have been one looooong song. Just a meh from me, this has a time and a place but in general not my thing..

I could draw a line to Daft Punk and Glass Animals, and that’s beautiful

It was okay work background music

Meh, some of this was okay but constant repetitive beats are really not my thing. Had to skip a lot before my brain overloaded.

I don't like this kind of music and that's just what it is. 2.

This was fine for the genre. Personal enjoyment: 2/5 Relevance to this list: 3/5

Maybe not that well versed in techno beats like this but not my fav

Good bg music for working or a chill party but not really for me.

What in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater menu music was that? Can't ever think of a time I'd want to listen to it again but I still didn't hate it. Could have been a single song and I wouldn't have noticed a difference.

This is pretty lame stuff. Some kind of techno-rap or some shit. Like listening to video game music. Probably an apt musical metaphor for 20th century grindstone existence, I guess. Musically it pretty much sucks.

Listened to in the gym. Not bad but not very interesting. No real changes to shock you. No standout song

Well, this exists.

So, I don't hate this. It's fine. But I'm not on ecstasy, and as a result it's all a bit dull and background.

Some interesting sounds, love the bass. Overall, just too repetitive for me.

Its ok but no instrumental electronic music album should be in this list. Too repetitive and sometimes boring. Nothing special but a really good song thou

Dance music you can't dance to. Not for me Clive

Not awful but just not my thing at all. One song is fine. Whole album is just too repetitive. 2.5

Not bad

Not my cup of tea.

Heard other Chemical Brothers albums before and sadly this one lacks something. Or maybe it's just because I'm in a different mood today. But there are no real bangers on the album. 2/5

Beats, not grooves. Insubstantial.

Dance electronica, not my cup of tea.

Excepto tres temas (muy buenos la verdad), el disco es una verga.

I would suppose that if I was 23 years old trippin on X and surrounded by barely dressed 23 year old women grooving out at an EDM festival - I would totally dig this. But instead I’m 59 and prefer shrooms and jam bands.

Is this actually music?

No me convence del todo aunque no me desagradan algunos temas de chemical brothers a lo largo de su carrera, pero no sé si es que no tuve un día bueno o que pasó, que no me atrapó el disco 2 estrellas.

Pre-listening thoughts: how did the generator know I saw sonic 3 today (iykyk) Post/during listening thoughts: this is… not as good as the song in sonic 3. Sometimes I feel like I’m in a vacuum cleaner. Sometimes I feel like I’m in outer space which is cool. Then I feel like I’m in someone’s mouth and I’m getting chewed, which is not as cool. 4/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: no Fav tracks: One Too Many Mornings Least fav tracks: meh on most of it

Creative and intense

Good trance music. Pretty much Prodigy with no lyrics.

whatever. the brothers gonna work it out

Very repetitive electronica. There was one song in particular where it felt like it was stuck on an endless loop of 2 bars.

Man all 90s electronica is just terrible, isn't it? Just ages so, so poorly. 4/10

NPC music

Sounds like an album full of Ps2 game music.

I did not have to listen to this Before I die

Really really really really boring

This is very much the product of its time, it doesn't hold up and although it still sounds fine, it is very forgettable.

Solid background music, nothing more, nothing less.

Like a lot of electronic music, this is sonically interesting, but compositionally lacking. While I don't know much about this genre, I do vividly remember the fervor for outfits like the Chemical Brothers and the Orb, and I especially recall that people whose taste I respected enjoyed them. Even though this isn't the genre for me, that's worth a star or two. However, it is worth noting that the Chemical Brothers always rise to the occasion when collaborating with other artists on more straight-forward rock-and-pop songs. Alive Alone, featuring Beth Orton, stands out in this regard, harkening to other outstanding collabs with Orton as well as each of the Gallagher brothers. Unfortunately, the reimagining of Song of the Siren is confusing to the point of irritation. 2.5/5

The songs all sounded the same

One long annoying „song“

bip bop beep Some cool tunes but overall it doesnt feel much versatile from the track before. still a less fun but more interesting listen at least. their first project too. they didd great stuff so respect to the roots

Wasn’t the worst electronica I’ve listened to on the list - but at close to an hour I could have done with less.

This is fine. Just something for the background.

Oh, God, we're doing the fucking song. When's it gonna finish? Fucking hell.

Fine as background noise but nothing to grab you

Not my cup of tea

I actually really like the chemical brothers. But I do not like this album. It’s much more frenetic and even aggressive than the trippy, chill beats that I know come later in their discography.

I listened to it, but really don't remember much of it, I guess this was a pretty forgettable album for me.

It's good electronic music, but it's still electronic music. plus their second album is way better.

I'm sure it was doing something interesting in the 90s but it just sounds dated and bland now.

This isn't my go-to genre by any means, but I can appreciate a good electronic album when I hear one. This was chill and pretty fun to listen to at first, but quickly became monotonous... or maybe I just got bored of hearing the same beats on different tracks. I wanted to give it three stars, but then I realised that I can't remember even a single track, which speaks volumes. 2.5 stars

I just don't like electronica music. There's nothing about this that is interesting to me.

naja, die haben auch besseres

Oh boy, another English electronic album. I don't care about this one! I've had some very good electronic albums from artists like Depeche Mode and Portishead as well as albums that I just don't care about from artists like Fatboy Slim. This album leans a lot closer to the latter than the former. Why am I even calling this an album? I really don't even consider this product to be an album. It's more like a collection of random beats. The beats themselves are whatever. They're okay. Some of them are fine, others aren't great though. I really did not like the second-to-last song. Fortunately, the album is mostly instrumental, meaning that we don't have to deal with another "Fucking in Heaven" situation. Still, this album's mid. And of course these guys have two albums on the list as well! Great. How great. 2/5

All the tracks on the album sound very similar. And all I could think of was the advert that used to be on dvds. You wouldn't steal a car , you wouldn't steal a bag etc

I’ll listen to the last track again but I’ve always liked a few more tunes in my dance music

Fine, dance/euro beats mostly

I don't get this.

Totally forgettable album

I feel like they have better albums

Jammy video game load screen music (also would fit in a bad 90s spy movie)

Nope, not my thing at all

Not my thing

not for me

Yeah this is why I dont like anything released after 1988

Not their best work. Or even up there rbh

Just fine, not for me.

Very 90s and not really for me. I’m sure people who are more into electronics would really dig it.

I’m not saying instrumental albums can’t be good but this is essentially 50 mins of early 00’s action movie dvd menu music.

Electronic background music. Very repetitious.

Meh. It's a little too avant garde for this type of music, in my opinion.

It's a bit much. And a bit much some more. I need to play SSX while listening to this soundtrack. Does having one live track drop this to a one star? It may have gotten there without the live track.

Alot of this is like beautifully patterned wallpaper, but it still pretty much is just repeating patterned wallpaper.

The slightly boring also-rans of techno.

loopz n beatz n zzzzz

Bit relentless this. And a bit too dancey for my taste really. Chico’s Groove is a bit more chilled out and I prefer that sort of sound over the full on 90s club dance stuff. I get why this is on the list and I’m glad I listened to it, but I don’t really like it very much.

A very boring electronic album, and I'm starting to get the feeling that's the story for every big beat album. They all just give off the same vibe of not being interesting enough to make it in today's musical economy, not when so many songs have advanced so far past this, and while context when reviewing a piece of music is important, this still fails to interest me any way. There's something to hook you in at the beginning, and the use of actual lyrics at the end helps again, but between that just feels like you're getting the same information over and over until its finally over. It sprinkles good moments throughout, but hardly enough for me to imagine this actually being danceable at any point in time. Racing music at its finest. Nothing more or less.

Getting tired of the 90s electronic music. Rating: 2.2

Meh electronica

2/5 naaaaah

Bare nej.

This was not what I needed, wanted, or ultimately accepted in my ears.

Not a fan. It all seemed a bit dull and just generic noise.

One of the few dance acts that when I see on Glastonbury I’ll watch. So I’m familiar with a lot of their hits and I really like some of their collaborations. I didn’t recognise anything on here. A strong start but soon enough it just deteriorated into lots of boring / annoying repetition. I stuck with it and in parts it improved but overall just passed me by. Still hoping there might be another Chemical Brothers album on the list that might be better. I could try and find one myself but I’m busy and can’t be arsed !

Reminded me a lot of the Bourne movie trailers, apparently inspired the soundtrack for Fight Club? Makes sense. Not my style but I could dig it.

Sounds pretty dated. Fine I guess. My personal bugbear of repeated vocal samples feature heavily so I'm never going to love this. Reminds me of indie clubs trying to be edgy.

I had never listened to anything by CB, and likely won't again. Knob twiddling not my thing.

Matrix ass album

Not bad, but most tracks overstay their welcome and are, really, quite boring. 2/5

This album was definitely a lot and is not for me. I get that it's good and important, but not for me.

Two Chemical Bros' records are too many. Merging this and Dig Your Own Hole might justify one, in the eyes of the non-techno specialist. Dig is more aggressive and slightly more interesting (if only because the Beth O appearance is stronger), but 30 years on this is well past its "best by" – as editors surely recognize given the "had to be there" tone of their description of the CBs' rise at a speciflc club (such gatekeeping!). There are some moments here, but mostly we're in historical artifact (and probably soon to be historical footnote) territory. Though she does her best, not even Beth O can save this from basic averageness.

Not my vibe

Sounds like it would be in the matrix soundtrack, which isn't really a bad thing so much but not really what I like. Songs ended up feeling pretty repetitive and there wasn't a whole ton distinguishing them imo

Gar nicht mein Geschmack. 1.8

This was the worst music to try and work to. Every song sounds the same to me. I feel like if you asked me to make something that sounds like this it would be very easy as melody is completely neglected. Chico's Groove the first time there is any respite. Ok so maybe the whole second half is going to be respite, One Too Many Mornings is much nicer and spacier. Ethereal vocals! Life is Sweet started in the respite zone but it feels like its trying to break back into the A side of the album. I dont trust it. Playground of a Wedgless Firm seems a little bit lost. This album cover doesnt look anything like how the album sounds. Fave tracks: Leave Home, Chico's Groove, One Too Many Mornings 2.4/5

Da va et par beats som minte litt om Prodigy innimellom, men da hjalp ikkje så veldig

Two electronic albums in a row. Interesting. And not a standout song among them. At least The Prodigy had some standout songs. If their album “The Fat of the Land” isn’t on the list somewhere, then they were robbed.

nah man tf is this.

Nicht mein Ding

Two techno albums in a row!?!?! This one is better than the Prodigy, but I still don't like it.

Hard to assess this in a future where is was so influential (feels like a dime a dozen movie montage backing track now but was probably very cool when it came out). It was pretty groovy though.

Sooooooo 90s

Boring and repetitive

Not my favourite Chemical Brothers album but far from the worst thing this list has thrown at me so far.

It's not godawful but it is def awful a tad

An hours worth of continuous trip hop. Not my favorite album of theirs, but good background music.

It’s something! kinda pleasant kinda not. I can’t be objective since I’m a techno hater.

Boring and repetitive, as most dance or EDM tends to be. Any music that needs you to be off your face to enjoy is not for me. Not even up to the standard of their later work, absolutely no need for this to be on the list.

In the beginning I was intrigued by the beat and music but after a little it got repetitive. If there was a little more variety in the sounds I actually would have enjoyed it but by the end I was just waiting for it to finish.

Give anyone with zero Musical experience a month witht the software used to crate this album. And they could create this album. Latterly britpop without lyrics and looped endlessly

Gets boring really fast, the repetitive sounds.

was a average-mid electronica album with a bit of oriental-influence. Wasn't as terrible as other electronica albums I heard before (f you Darkdancer). Still this isn't a mind-blowing album of pure greatness. 2/5

Not my thing

Ah, I remember this - used to be used extensively on the highlights package on UK Channel 4 for the NBA. Bought it on that premise, but turned out just to be a load of deck and sample wankery with no discernable tunes or melody, and therefore really quite pointless as an album

Meh - electro-dance that was fresh when it came out but hasn't aged well, and not my thing anyway.

Was an ok album was a little repetitive and I think the artist might have been high when creating this album

I didn't really enjoy this. As far as electronic music goes, this wasn't horrible as it wasn't droning on and on for an hour. A lot of it sounded the same to me.

I think maybe electronic music is not for me. I was annoyed by this slightly less than normal which I suppose says quite a lot about the music itself. It’s all fine.

Music for when Nicolas Cage has to steal 50 cars in 60 seconds. For 50 minutes straight.

Sad 90s music pass.

Kinda boring, im not really into eletronic, it felt like I was listening to a very longintro kids cartoon about spys

Surprise for me. I don’t like electronica but this was fine as background noise/music for energy.

It’s really just beats. Not very interesting tbh.

Boring drugged up 90’s background music 2/5

Just not my thing, although it did keep my attention. But still, nah.

I can clearly hear some cool stuff, but overall it's not what I would listen in the rare occasions of where I think "man, i really want to listen some big beat today".

Not bad. Their next two albums are a bit better than this one.

This only belongs in movies, I wouldn’t want to listen to the album again

It’s too bad it wasn’t another Chemical Brothers album. These guys have tons of great songs, but this isn’t their best. Some decent beats that are great when doing work. But they much more well crafted songs on their later records.

I think the songs on this album have that mix of being energetic, repetitive and not overly interesting that makes them very suitable for mini-bosses in video games. Not quite epic enough for a true boss. Listening to this as purely an album where you sit down and listen to the tracks is not a particularly interesting experience. This is background music.

Fine but unremarkable.

Además de que parece soundtrack de una escena de pelea en una película de los 2000, no soy fan de la música únicamente electrónica sobretodo cuando no tiene letra, así que no me disgusto pero probablemente no lo escucharía de nuevo

It did tend to get repetitive although enjoyed it.

Electrónica. Coñazo machacón.

Nothing really grabbed me , not horrible my any mean but also not worth paying attention to. good background music but hardly in top album lists. Couldn't be more middle if it tried.

The brothers did not, in fact, work it out. Although this was better that other electronica albums, mainly because it sounded closer to bands like Massive Attack, at its core it was still the same repetitive thing that leaves zero impact after you're done listening to it.

cool beats i suppose, not really my thing. every song felt the same

Repetitive beats indeed. This has not aged well - the style and sound both feel dated. There isn't much to focus on here (although admittedly I was at my desk wfh on a Friday morning, not jumping around in a club) and my attention quickly drifted off. It got a bit more interesting with the addition of vocals on the last few tracks, but this was too late for me.

Hacking montage music

Went into this completely unaware of the background of this album, I’d never heard of The Chemical Brothers and I had no wi-fi to look them up. By the end, I was still kind of confused. Didn’t hate it. Fav songs: Three Little Birdies Down Beats, Chemical Beats, Alive Alone Least fav: the rest

Listened to this like 3 times and don't remember anything from it haha, good background music I guess but nothing special for me, 2.

Varför inte plattan efter? Så mycket bättre.

No strong reax

Not bad to work to but also not my thing. I appreciate it but wouldn’t turn to it when I want to listen to music.

Constantly groovy and totally forgettable. I’m just waiting patiently every four bars for the next entrance or drum break. Times 50 minutes.

I’d never heard of this band before today and well… I can see why. I consider myself pretty open-minded when it comes to music but with that being said, electronic just isn’t for me. It wasn’t bad, but I just wasn’t feeling it. I have to be in a club or out somewhere to feel this vibe, and even then it may not happen.

lite för långtråkigt och lite stökigt

It’d be fine as background music, but I couldn’t get into it at all. Only made it to track 4 before giving up

Ihan kiva. Ainakin kokonaisuus; tuohan ei tauonnut hetkeksikään. Meni silti (tämäkin) vähän ohi. Pari hyvää koukkua.

I'm over these fuckers.

ugh. another one of these. i get that this is great to dance to, but it's not my jam for listening. It's better than that Fatboy Slim album. I dug the Beth Orton track ok.

ok, not really my thing

Why? Why? Why, must I be subjected to soooooo much electronic music on this list. Beats, riffs, samples, repeat. If this was the first one I'd listened to, I could sort of see this as a fun departure from what I would consider the 1001 albums I have to listen to before I die. This being like the 50th of its genre, I have to wonder what I'm missing about what I think music actually is. I don't get heart, meaning, messages, enjoyment, thoughtfulness, or anything out of these. It's a feeling I suppose...barely. It's background for something else that as I listen to it, is not happening. I can't give the Chemical Brothers a fair shake here because I'm just not into this anymore.

I’ve heard of The Chemical Brothers, but can’t recall ever knowingly hearing a song. After seeing the album cover, that was not the genre I was expecting.

Just don't believe dance music translates to albums well, plus CB were always overrated.

Hip-hop-styled, early EDM is what I hear. Pretty repetitive, not particularly interesting

I love electronic music. One great song. Rest is generic 2000s video game music

This seems like music that’s really of a time and place that is not mine and I have no interest in visiting. It’s dance music that to me doesn’t hold a lot of interest as something to listen to in normal life. The repetition really got to me, filling me with a sense of dread. You mean I have to hear this same meaningless thing at least four times in a row and there’s nothing I can do about it? I can appreciate the skill it took to put this together, and they were certainly successful in creating a certain atmosphere, but I’m glad I’ll never have to experience it again. Also what was up with copying multiple elements from the Beastie Boys “The Maestro”? I wondered if it was based on the name dispute with the original Dust Brothers who produced Paul’s Boutique, but that’s not one of their songs. It was off-putting either way.

A little anxiety inducing for me

Really difficult for this stuff to live outside of the mid-90's. A fun, nostalgic listen but ultimately limited in it's span across time.

It’s cool, just stays the same. Do like the seamless transitions, but it feels like a boring version of a prodigy album

Seems like a very solid electronic/dance album but it's really not my genre. It relies on listener enjoying the vibe and that carries you to the next section of the song. There were some parts I liked but overall this is just a light rave.

I like other Chemical Brothers songs, so I was hoping I'd like this album more than I did. Not bad, but nothing really stuck out to me. My favourite song was One Too Many Mornings.

Not really my vibe, may need to revisit later down the road but for now it just isnt clicking..

a little caught in time now and represntative of that era in the early 2000s, possibly the yemplate for this sound. Listenable but not really my cup of tea

2/11, 18%

Still not for me.

Could only make it through about half. I can do some electronic music. Not so much this.

meh. electronic music but british

I liked born slippy, and had them pegged for similar to Leftfield so was interested to hear this album, but disappointed in the dull monotony of most of the tracks, with the exception of One Too Many Mornings and Alive Alone. Otherwise boring

Would probably be enhanced with the help of some pharmaceuticals, I only had a couple of paracetamol on hand so it didn't really do much for me. A warehouse, some crazy lighting and an all nighter and this would come in to its own.

Not feeling this enough to go more than two songs in, so far. I did listen to better albums, by the same group. This one isn't for me.

Meh, c’est correct. Un son à connaître.

I guess it's good for what it is, meaning 90's techno with a larget-than-life bass sound and a sh*tload of breakbeats. But turns out I'm really not a fan of 90's techno with a larget-than-life bass sound and a sh*tload of breakbeats.

I understand why people did so much cocaine in the 90's...So speedy, too stressfull for me. Second half is better & slower, but meh...

Sounds like an average soundtrack from an average 90s action movie. I'll tell you, it's not my cup of tea. That said, there are some good ideas and the more downtempo tracks in the second half of the album are very good.

Da va et par beats som minte litt om Prodigy innimellom, men da hjalp ikkje så veldig

Kinda like fentanyl. Easy to overdose.

There are few genres I care about less than 1990s British electronic music. Thankfully, those genres don’t seem to have 20 entries on this list. 3/10

thump thump, beep beep, doopity doopity doop...

The sound of mid-90's British mediocrity. At least this one doesn't have the (or any?) awful Noel Gallagher Beatles rip-off atrocity. Still rings with the banshee wail of Beth Orton unfortunately. She must curse Dido frequently, wishing she hadn't hitched her frail wagon to these losers.

I really don’t like 90s techno

Had its moments, but not my cup of tea.

An album with some interesting hooks and loops that provide an interesting listen. A lot of the tracks overstay their welcome, with loops getting a little bit repetitious too quickly. It's dance music with a pop flair, and it's done well enough; but I feel everything could be condensed and you'd have a more listenable and less tedious album.

No thanks.

Constantly groovy and totally forgettable. I’m just waiting patiently every four bars for the next entrance or drum break. Times 50 minutes.

Mja, het is gewoon niet mijn ding.

Uh. Alright but not my thing.

It felt sort of monotonous.

Förstår mig inte på detta riktigt.

Gets very boring very quickly

Decent in parts but very samey.

Hab mir irgendwie gestresst und gehetzt gefühlt beim hören. Könnte in einem Fetzengeschäft für Teenies laufen

I get that the later stuff is good but I don't know if I would put it on this list 2.5

Just beats and essentially DJ music. It wasn't bad. Not an entire album of this is necessary.

I don't know much about electronic music, but the Chemical Brothers seem pretty good at it. I can appreciate some of the grooves on this, but overall electronic music just isn't my thing. Too repetitive, not organic-sounding enough. Maybe good on a sweaty dance floor when I was in my 20s, but not something I would listen to again. 2 stars.

Knackr..brrtz..BOoom..utz..utz

2.9 - There's obviously something special here that I'm not getting. Maybe I'm missing the cultural context, maybe I'm not taking the right drugs, maybe I need to be dancing at some sweaty rave. But I'm just not moved by any of this. At best, I feel it's good background music that might help with studying or coding.

Not my thing. But it was okay I guess.

Good, but not my thing.

I dunno, this may have been groundbreaking at the time, but it's just cliche now. Not a particularly compelling album in 2021. Maybe if I was rolling on molly, as the kids used to say.

Just not my scene, man.

Not to besmirch the good name of the chemical brothers. But this isn't great at all

First listen. Not my style of music. Good for background, study music though.

Tried starting and finishing this on 3 different occasions and was never in the right mood. Sounds like it's got some potential but not suitable for the times I listened

Beats with ultimately no direction. Missing any kind of vocals.

Not sure I do understand the sense or right of existence for this kind of music but at least it had some melodies, even though one heard it all after 30 seconds of the song

Not my style, repetitive and tedious.

Not for me.

Olipas raskasta kuunneltavaa.

Some tracks are good, but I’d need to be trippin’ to make it through the full album.

These brothers seem too eager to show off their instruments... A lot of this is just cacophony layered upon itself. I get it, this is old school and doesn't employ the endlessssss servers and production equipment in studios so by that scale, this is really umm, "nice"(?), but I wouldn't voluntarily play this to listen to it.
