Does this guy get paid something every time he recommends an electronica album? How many more of these shi**y albums must we try to endure?
Couldn't do the entire album. If any genre is susceptible to becoming obsolete its electronica/techno. These synth they're using just sound fucking awful. Its also not old enough to justify IMO. They definitely had access to better shit and just chose these cheap sounds and made boring songs with them.
Didn’t do much for me. I poked around on their other top songs. It’s actually a pretty nice listen - Belfast, Chime - but an hour of this is kind of brutal. Give us more BANDS.
Lol! Yes! Mortal Kombat! Oh that took me back. Well besides that little surprise, this was a total grind. It's been a while since I gave a 1, it was just a matter of time. No disrespect electronica but not my thing.
I had an ex girlfriend who had a saying, that was maybe sort of mean but she thought it was nice, which was "Cute for someone" meaning hey this person is not attractive to me but I'm sure could be for someone. That's kind of how I feel about Orbital 2. It's a 5 for someone!
Techno for the sake of techno. As the album drives on and one “song” blends into the next I find myself as fatigued as I would be if I were dancing to this music in a dark club and my energy were waning. By the final tracks I’m just wondering if we can skip ahead to the part where we eat shitty food and go home.

Electronica is just tough for me. This was a long and difficult album to get through. Started to give me a headache. No more electronica.
1.5 My first listen to this album came right on the heels of a massive Spotify outage, so when I initially heard the first song, I assumed there must be something still wrong with the platform. Nope, as it turns out, it really is just two minutes of a dude repeating “Where time becomes a loop”. Somehow, the album doesn’t get much better from there. I genuinely try to keep an open mind with every new entry on this list, but as someone who isn’t really into club techno, this gave me nothing new to appreciate about the genre at all. Most of these songs are annoying, too long, and just assaulting on the senses, and not in a fun, punk rock kind of way that gets you amped up - pissed off maybe, but not in a way that I think was intended. I was constantly having to throttle the volume down on this while listening, not just for my benefit, but also my neighbors', and as a result, I was over this pretty quickly. There’s one bright spot on this album, if you can even call it that (“dimly lit” may be more accurate), and that’s Halcyon + On + On. It’s certainly not great by any means, but it’s by far the most tolerable track, and I’d even go as far as to admit that it has a bit of an angelic, ethereal quality that might work for me at the right time and place - however, today was not that. Appropriately, this album is also commonly referred to as “The Brown Album”, presumably because it’s shit. Maybe it’s fun if you’re in the club and on molly, but I don’t see this becoming a part of my Wednesday musical rotation anytime soon. Also, wtf is on the album cover? Are those kidneys??

I cannot express how annoying the intro and outro songs of this album were to me. And I did not care for the rest either.

Very few albums of this genre stand up to listening as a whole because it's, by it's nature, repetitive and better suited to dance to than to listen to on the commute into work. This is not one of those few albums. It's a long old 65 minutes, with only a couple of tracks standing out as worthwhile listens now (and even they are too long). Maybe this was revolutionary at the time, but somehow by 1993 I doubt it.
Such run of the mill electronic music. Sounds like bad video game music. How is this on this list? Makes me question the value of this list.

Fairly heinous stuff. Actively sounds as if it’s trying to be headache inducing. At least I’ve never heard of this album or the artist, which means the masses have forgotten its existence. Swear to god, whoever made this list has a special hard on for electronic music. I think it’s actually impossible to defend this album without seeming pretentious. A quote from the second track strikes me as ironic. “Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day”. Makes me think of whoever made this. Even someone just fucking around (and I really mean fucking around) in the studio can create something that resembles a song. These things on this ‘album’ resemble songs, but, reader, do not be fooled. They are actually experiments in sound. What’s the difference, you may or may not be wondering? A song is music. This is annoying. And another thing. If you’re going to fuck around in the studio and make ‘songs’ (experiments in sound), at least have the courtesy of keeping it short. This is over an hour. This is a one star for me. Pretty easy one star. 1/5

Starts out nowhere and then quickly does more of the same. Someone should tell them that having a drum machine, synthesizer and a computer doesn't mean you're a musician. Brian Eno proved years ago that you can make brilliant music this way. But obviously it isn't a given.
Well it's certainly electronic music. I'm sure I'd enjoy hearing the songs at a rave individually, but as a whole album listen, it's hard to not get bored.

I was trying to give this album the benefit of the doubt thinking that it just hasn't aged well but really I think this was bad when it first came out. The first track just sets the tone, "time becomes a loop" just looped... I mean really?! I love electronic music but this is just hot doo doo.

Very typical techno, call me a snob but I don't hear much musicality going on. It's a pretty awful listening experience actually, especially in the cold light of day. Maybe you had to "be there" in every sense.
The incessant use of soundbite loops got very irritating. By the time the album got interesting I was already too disinterested.

I have seen a comment saying that Orbital belongs to the big trio of electronic music, together with The Prodigy. I hope that was the first an last time, that someone put those two bands together in one sentence. Orbital orbits the wrong star, I'm afraid.

The first and final songs were torturous. It felt like something they would subject prisoners to in Guantanamo Bay. All the 'songs' inbetween were a collection of irritating and repetitive noises. How could anyone enjoy this?

Electronic music in the 90s really had some brutal stages. This was quite awful as an album to sit through. Time is a loop. Yikes. The only thing this album would be good for is listening while trying to zone out or play video games. But to listen to. No thanks. 2.4/10

I absolutely didn't like this one. I'm not really into electronic music, but I like some things. But this... it may work on a rave or something like that, a live setting. But on a record, it just doesn't work. Like some other albums I really don't understand, why this one is included on this list.

Let's see what the project serves me today: mid 90's band/album I've never heard of. OK... Genre is "Electronica", average rating is 2.74... uh-oh. Skim some reviews, found this: "this is a huge throwback for me. My pacifier and glowsticks, oversized pants, pigtails, pumas and DANCING!"... Double Uh-Oh. But, the point is to listen, so let's listen! pause Listening to this, I’m reminded of an old joke about Grateful Dead music. “Q: What does a deadhead say when the music stops? A: Wow, this music sucks!” Maybe Orbital would be awesome if I was at a Rave, doing whatever drugs you do at a Rave. But I’m not, never was, never will be. So this is NOT awesome. And it is very, Very, VERY repetitive. I guess this is ok for what it is: background sounds for a mid 90’s party. Not really intended for you to pay much attention to, or sit and listen to. I thought about giving this a 2, and I might have, if didn’t just keep on going and going and going…. By the 50th minute, the irritation level had ramped up to max and I only listened to 1/2 of the last 3 songs. 1/5
Orbital 2, this time... more orbital? Didn't like the first Orbital album we had. Like this one only *slightly* more. I'm not really understanding the significance of Orbital, or why this is on the list. Maybe because, as other reviewers say, it's about as "album-y" as techno albums get? I mean, techno is so, so much farther along as a genre compared to this. This feels... very dated still. Not a terribly un-fun listen, I just emphatically believe it doesn't belong on this list, let alone two Orbital albums. 1/5.

Did not like this album. I only liked one song, “Halcyon and On and On”. The songs sounded the same and they just dragged on. I’m sure it sounded new and exciting when it first came out but there are so many other electronic albums that are better.

We have a tiny representation of several genres (country, blues, soul to name a few) and 9632 British electronic albums. This stuff isn't awesome. All the songs are 9+ minutes long. Halcyon was pleasant to listen to because of the female vocalist. That's all I can say. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Halcyon and On and On

Just plain boring and extremely repetitive. Seems to be a common trend among these "top albums". If I was fucked up on acid, I would probably enjoy it, but Im pretty sure I would enjoy 99% of all things in the world, so thats not a high accolade. The songs are too long, they dont progress and evolve the idea, its just really fucking boring.
It was a lot of the same noises over and over again on each track. I didn't like anything about it.
Pretty much what I expected. Repetetive electronic and/or sample loops. They were amongst the first to do this and have a lot to answer for. It is possible to make electronic music, without it being mind numbingly dull, but Orbital fail completely in this regrard.

As a star trek fan, I loved the bizarre choice to open this album with a sample of Michael Dorn as Lt. Worf from The Next Generation explaining a mobius strip. As a fan of interesting music, my enthusiasm dipped after the first 20 seconds and didn't pick back up again - I will acknowledge I'm not a big fan of this type of minimalist semi industrial electronica to begin with though. I think if I had this on in the background while doing things I may have jived more with it, but in this case active listening just got aggravated as it went on. This sort of thing just doesn't stimulate me. Even with a track like Impact (The Earth is Burning) or Halcyon and On and On where a lot more things are happening, it still didn't really justify the length of those tracks. I imagine this is what some of you feel listening to some of these jazz albums we've had. And if that's the case I think you're more than generous. This is my first 1. It may have merit for others but I genuinely didnt enjoy the vast majority of my listening experience. That ending is excruciating.

This is the first album on my list that I did not feel compelled to completely listen to. I'm guessing this is one of the first industrial/techno digital sampled albums, judging by its age. I'll bet it was highly influential at the time, but now it just sounds like the rejected tracks from the first Matrix soundtrack.

Pretty sure this album was the inspiration for the jellyfish jam from SpongeBob--that's not meant to be a compliment either. I couldn't finish a single song. Started skipping songs after a few seconds after Lush 3-2 and stopped entirely after Remind. Not worth the headache today
The album starts with Worf talking about a time loop, and in one ear it's a certain speed while it's slightly faster in the other, so that it eventually loops around and catches the first one. Wow, congrats on your successful extra credit assignment in sound engineering class, but don't subject the rest of us to it. That's no way to treat a Son of Mogh. The only thing worse than a repetitive electronica album is a repetitive electronica album made by people who think they're being clever. Best track: The sweet, sweet silence at the end
It’s interesting I suppose but it makes me feel nothing
Well, that first track really set the tone in an unfortunate way. "You know what we should do? Annoy the shit out of anyone who listens our album right away. That'll show them for spending money on our garbage." Simply calling this repetitive is almost insultingly reductive. It's not JUST repetitive. It's also mostly bad. And they only repeated the bad parts. Why are these tracks so long?! There's nothing actually HAPPENING in these tracks that justifies their insane length. It's just noise. Mind-numbingly repetitive noise.

Absolute trash. Nothing but noise and repetitive droning. Literally the title track just repeats "time becomes a loop" over and over for like two minutes and most other songs include extremely repetitive vocalizations and/or beats. Honestly starting to question the sanity and musical tastes of whoever wrote the book these recommendations come from. The only good thing about listening to this album is that I've been able to teach YouTube Music to avoid trash like it by thumbing down every track.
Every Night when I go to bed, I play brown noise to help me fall asleep. After the 3rd song, I just switched to my brown noise playlist. This album is shit.

I always get Orbital confused with The Orb and William Orbit. Not just for the obvious reason - that their names are so similar but also because their brand of electronic trance music all sounds painfully the same. I present Exhibit one - this album by Orbital. Maybe if I was at a rave taking ecstasy it might be more interesting, but I am sitting in my living room utterly bored.

Just feels very empty. Don’t care for techno music and definitely not a fan of 1 hour straight. Just as you finish a song you think it’s q gonna get better; it always remains the same boring level which I’m not about.
The album opens with a weird intro track where the line “when time becomes a loop” is repeated for a whole minute it’s a great use of sampling but it really drags on the theme of time is carried on in the next song planet of the shapes with the line “even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day” then the words just stop for most of the track and honestly it’s quite boring most of the tracks are either lyric-less or just have one repeating sample throughout the album is mindnumpingly boring. 1/5
I recall the practice session my old band had when our keys player Brittany discovered the effect he uses on "Remind". On her keyboard the setting was called "Solar Flare". Everyone thought it was awesome and we briefly contemplated building an entire song around it but quickly decided this would be much too thin a concept for an entire song. Mssr. Orbital has concluded differently. I have no way of judging this on its own terms, and while it's pleasant enough to put on as background music, it's not that interesting and I wouldn't have picked it for myself. Just a two things to note. One, the CD takes 4 minutes to even get rolling - why did they think it would improve the listening experience to have you sit around listening to nonsense noise for 4 minutes before playing some music? Two, it's very monotonous - I think the artist may have been going for that, but on an hour-long CD it really wears on you.
Just a tough listen, I can see the appeal but it’s the worst kind of experimental electronic music. At its best it’s confusing and at it’s worst it’s impenetrably antithetical to what music is meant to be.

Maybe it's because I'm not into dancing or dropping acid and staring at strobe lights but electronic music doesn't speak to me. It's too repetitive and I find it uninteresting. Some of the sounds these artists create from the use of technology is cool and innovative but that's about it.

A bit more musical than some other electronic albums I've heard, and not just annoying noise. Expect the intro and outro which are so annoying, don't understand why you would want to annoy the listener at the start and end of an album, which makes it a 1 star not 2 for me.

Qué aburrido y largo y hasta molesto. Y nada chistosos sus Tracks con las frases repitiéndose. En algunos puntos me sonó a cuando bajamos FrootLoops y jugábamos a hacer rolas de electrónica.
