Reviews (page 9 of 14)

There's a squeaky kick drum. Do you hear it? I already have this one saved out to my library.. It's hard to review without knowing where it sits in the context of the other Zeppelin albums, so after reviewing the track listings for each album it feels like this album is a transitional piece in between LZII and IV, which includes some of their more prolific works. III is a bit more variant than the previous albums, engaging in a bit of acoustic and folk. Review of Reviews: People are all over the place with how they personally feel about it but always recognize that it's well performed. Best Track: Since I've Been Lovin' You

Led Zeppelin outstand as my favorite band during this journey with this second album we are recommended. I liked the previous one a little more, which should have received a perfect rating. However, The Immigrant Song is legendary to me. The group's sound is spectacular and the album in general does not disappoint. I would say the project starts on a high and it does nothing but descend from there. All in all: it has been a pleasure.

The immigrant son és la polla. La resta de l'àlbum està molt bé, totes les cançons són bones. No especialment increïbles, però molt bones i disfrutables. M'encanta l'estil de Led Zeppelin

Trademark vocals and country twinge. Love it

Aha, something I recognise! I was never really into LZ until about 30 years ago but I picked a load of their stuff up and kinda realised what all if the fuss was about. This is very much what they were all about - experimental, big sound, very tight and a wee spot of ground breaking. There are some absolute bangers 'Immigrant Song' and 'Since I've been loving you' to name but 2. Great recordings from the mighty Olympic studios and Headley Grange all add to an exceptional album that is almost 54 years old......

I think this album slated when it was released but it's an underrated album in a time where people wanted another Led Zeppelin 2.

In a nutshell: Zep's most underrated album Haven't listened to this album in full before, and only familiar with the band's hits. Gotta say, it's good. Starts at a blistering pace then goes into head bopping mode, rarely venturing into boredom. I always appreciate a band who ventures into different genres on an album while still sounding coherent and familiar. Overall: 8/10

Led Zep are kind of a standout from the dusty hall of dad-rock fame, and this is possibly their best album - but fort some reason they've never clicked with me. The music is really punchy and self-assured, with the ability to go off into extended looser passages, whilst not losing any of the energy and focus of the record. I think the issue is Plant's vocals. He's a strong singer, but I can't stand his style, particularly when he goes "oooh baby mamma I need your lovin' yeah yeah yeeeaah". It's screechy and lame. And he writes lyrics about being a wandering bluesman on the American highway, when in fact he dropped out of grammar school in Birmingham or something. Nothing against Plant personally, but I would definitely listen to Led Zep records where the vocals were replaced by AI with Syd Barrett or something. That would be cool. Overall, the quality of the album is undeniable, even though I personally can't enjoy Plant's vocals. 4*

Mindst dorky af de første fire Led Zeppere. Banger.

Good album, since i've been loving you is a stand out. Love that song. Furthermore some acoustic and blues rock. Good stuff. I guess if i could id give it a 3.5/5

Dette er digg. Sangene blir litt for like til en femmer.

I haven't listened to a led zeppelin album in a minute and I loved every bit of this one. Mostly acoustic tunes that stay with you. One of my favourite solos in celebration day. One of my favourite storytelling songs with gallows pole. Great album all the way through!

Its good cuz its Led Zeppelin and Led Zeppelin is good. There is honestly not that much more to it.

Immigrant Song!! Finally a song I know! I also really enjoyed Tangerine and Friends (which I believe I've heard before). Overall, it was an enjoyable listen. I could see myself listening to this if I was a bit older and more into music. It had a cool sound and I'm sure they have more albums on this list.

This is the first album to come up for me that I was already intimately familiar with. In fact, there was a time where I considered this my favorite Led Zeppelin album (although that was mostly because the acoustic tracks were a revelation for me and my gateway into folk-rock). On my first close-listen in probably a decade, a few things struck me: first, that the album is much more bluesy than I remembered it. In fact, though the acoustic tracks are notable, it’s not as many as I remembered. Secondly, it’s not a particularly consistent album. I’ve never been crazy about tracks 2, 3, and 4 which is a shockingly rough first half of an album, considering that it opens with the all-timer, “Immigrant Song.” “Gallows Pole” is one of the greatest tracks Zeppelin ever recorded, and one of their most underrated.

Loved it. Very very relaxing

Ive heard a couple songs off this but it was very enjoyable as a whole

Immigrant Song sets the tone for the album. Unfortunately it's the best song on the album. If the rest had been as good it would have been a 10/10 album. Although the rest are good, they're not on the same level.

Some all time bangers on this album and also some mids, nothing bad. In terms of Zeppelin albums I don't think it's my favorite but Since I've Been Loving You goes incredibly hard. Will definitely listen again, nothing beats that aaaaAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAh!

Right off the start with a bang with Immigrant Song and cruised the rest of the way through.

Solid English Rock

Solid album

Starts of with Immigrant Song and gets better from there

It’s Led Zeppelin so 🤷‍♀️ Not there best but better than expected knowing that going in!

Classic, great first choice for me to start this experiment.

Classic rock at its finest

Another album I really should have listened to. I have, over the years, listened to a lot of Jack White. It seems that Jack White has listened to a lot of Led Zep. Kicking off with one of the strongest intros in rock history is a solid start for any album to have. It takes a pretty rollicking trip all over the rock map, I prefer it when the balls go out, rather than up inside but it’s all pretty great. I’ve got a lot of time for ‘Gallows Pole’ as a tune. One that I’ve not heard before that I will take with me.

It's not 4... But it's still a classic. Immigrant Song FTW!

Very "dad rock". Pretty chill, sometimes funny, sometimes silly, sometimes punky.

stand out track - Tangerine

First Zeppelin I've listened to the whole way through, I think. Probably a strange place to start but honestly enjoyed the album. Tangerine stands out after first listen. The closer is really strange and weak compared to the rest of the album, but the rest is quite good. Immigrant Song is obviously classic, and tracks like Since I've Been Loving You or Bron-Y Aur Stomp make for a good listen the whole way through.

Loved most of it, second song sounds confused

First full listen of this album for me, never given Led Zeppelin a serious listen before and I'll definitely be digging in to their catalog some more. Some super solid tracks on on this and with incredible performance and magnificent production. To me the album in full didn't feel totally cohesive between the more acoustic songs and the heavier ones the last track really felt out of place.

Better than I remember - a few rocking songs and some country/blues at the end.

Top 3 Songs: 1 - Tangerine (7) 2 - Immigrant Song (1) 3 - Bron-Y-Aur Stomp (9)

4.5/5. The weaker album in the tetralogy but that’s saying something.

A very good album........perhaps not as good as Led Zep II, but a must have for fans of the Band.

I can't believe that I and II both came out in 1969 and III in 1970 to just be casually followed by IV in '71. For how acclaimed and influential Zepp is, I always thought they took more time to make their masterpieces. This album is the distinct change from pure rock to acoustic/folk influences. This is how we ended up with songs like Over the Hills and Far Away and Going to California. It's got the least recognizable songs to me out of the numbered albums, but this is quite the experience in and of itself as they were continuing to experiment. A defining moment in Rock and Roll history

I'll admit that I'm coming into this album with a bit of bias against it; I listened to Led Zeppelin a lot when I was in college, and this was always one of my least favorite albums of theirs. Unfortunately, that still seems to be the case with me. I can't remember what turned me off of it so much back then, but this listen, I just wasn't that into the first half of the album. Sure, "Immigrant Song" is great, but it honestly feels very out of place to me on this album. I thought the album really started to get good and interesting with "Gallows Pole;" I really loved the folk-y lyrics and the acoustic guitar. "Tangerine" was fantastic too; I loved the use of acoustic and pedal steel guitar together. But for me, the highlight of this album has always been "Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp;" the guitar intro is absolutely perfect, and when the percussion kicks in, I can't help but tap my foot along with the beat. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad album, it just doesn't land with me in the same way that IV or I does.

Maybe not as flawless as some of Zeps other classics, III showcased a new found diversity in sound and style. Immigrant Song and Friends add to their canon of rock classics. Since I’ve Been Loving You is a powerful blues burner. Tangerine is probably the most notable example of their ability to craft a well made folk tune. Some lesser tracks are sprinkled in, but even a lesser Zep track is better than what most can muster.

I really like this album I thing the first song is a bit misleading on the rest of the album but it’s still really good

Quite good, yes.

Good album. Liked it more than I expected

Starting to branch out from their earlier all-blues based albums. Creative and interesting.

No reason this should be loved any less then LZ 1/2/4. Love how it begins with maybe their most well-known hard rocker and then just dumps it for an acoustic driven album. Where most albums put the hits up front, this album hits its stride at the end. Gallows Pole through to BronYAur Stomp is as good as a four song stretch gets.

I liked the soulful slower songs, a lot of stuff that broke from the harder rock idea I initially had of LZ.

Immigrant Song is fantastic. The rest of the album was pretty good.

Led Zeppelin is great but this album had a few dumpers on it.

Really enjoyed dipping back into a well know artist that I haven't really listening to all that much.

Very, very, very good. Zeppelin 2 is kind of where they came into their own and away from a blues rock cover band. This just further refining that sound.

Hard to rate an album that starts off with Immigrant Song lower than a 5, but I'm going to.

аааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааааа

Good stuff, might be my favorite self titled zeppelin album

Exceptional.

Always solid: Led Zeppelin are always a solid band, can never be done that dirty when getting one of their albums. You know immediately when you click play you will be treated to a solid rock album with little to do in faults and just slaps, this is no different. For me it was a little forgettable but you can't insult an album which starts off with 'immigrant song'.

Not my favorite Led Zeppelin. And not my favorite album cover. But still, it is Led Zeppelin. A lot of good slappers on this one and you shouldn't turn away a good slapper. Immigrant Song, Tangerine, Gallows Pole and Celebration Day all work on me.

I want to dislike this. Everything I've read about Led Zep portrays them as some of the more unpalatable people in rock (they stand out in a crowded field) and of course, they were liberal in their, ahem, "borrowing" from other artists. Without necessarily crediting them. And sometimes crediting themselves. Naughty! However, this is great. The pounding Immigrant Song, the elastic Celebration Day (John-Paul Jones' bass has a really rubbery quality to it) and the majestic Since I've Been Loving You are wonderful. That's the definitive version of Gallows Pole, for me. And even slightly lesser tunes have something going for them - Tangerine features a kind of zap guitar sound I associate more with the Isley Brothers' excellent 3+3 album. A grudging four stars.

You know, I'm not sure I had ever listened to this album all the way through before. It's for sure a lesser piece of work than Zep IV, and kind of peters out at the end, but... I've had moments of these songs stuck in my head for 12+ hours now after listening and that tells me it's likely an album I will appreciate more on repeat listens. "Out on the Tiles," and "Tangerine" stand out as songs from the catalog I'd never given much attention to before. "Immigrant Song" is a classic for a reason. But I think the real litmus test here is "Since I've Been Loving You." If you can stomach that song then there's probably nothing Zeppelin can throw at you that you won't, at least in some small way, appreciate. For me, this song produced a big sigh at the beginning of it; "another classic rock band just straight up ripping the blues." But it wins me over as it goes along and, in my opinion, becomes something else entirely. It's an experience, that song. I can see what somebody might absolutely loathe it. But I'm a simple man, fellas. I like riffy guitars, loud drums, and screeching vocals. And it's impossible to argue even 50 years later, that this band didn't do that formula better than most.

very good

Didn’t enjoy this one as much as 2, but I’d say it’s around the same quality and is a good follow up. Immigrant song is peak Zeppelin to me thus far.

AAAAAAAAAA AA! AAAAAAAAAA AA!

Immigrant song is obviously great. Tangerine has been getting heavy play from me this summer. The rest of this is all new to me. Out on the tiles is fire and kicks off a great 4 song run that ends with That's the way. Not crazy about the last two tracks but you can't win them all. Just wish it ended on a stronger note for me. All in all, I'm a fan. I love the more folky and acoustic side that they show with this album. Best: Tangerine, immigrant song, out on the tiles, that's the way MMM: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAh AAAAAAAAAAAAAAh

Great album. 4/5

Tangerine is one my faves, love that shit

Immigrant Song // Since I’ve Been Loving You // Out on the Tiles // Tangerine // That’s The Way // 3.5/5

3.75 I rocked out to this album. It was fun and catchy rock. Some beautiful riffs and catchy parts that will stick in my head for days. I really like the timbre of Robert Plants voice and what Jimmy Page does on guitars.

I liked this Zeppelin album much more. Good listening to the hits

Not a bad album most of the songs I had not heard before. Will have to comeback and try other albums.

Great album, although sometimes the vocals were a little rough in my mind. Still good. 4/5

have listened to it. classic zeppelin. liked it overall. 7/10

Not their best effort, but very good

One of my favorite Zeppelin albums for sure. I like the folkier songs.

i like 'immigrant song', and 'since i've been loving you'

'Immigrant Song' is mischief, kicking off the record with a rocker as immortal as the one that opened the album before. What follows are some of the deceptively modest, almost-not-there songs of the band's career. Bold! I like it.

Tiene dos canciones que me gustan mucho (Inmigrant Song, Tangerine), pero otras no.

11/30/21 Heard a million times

Album 105 of 1001 Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III Rating : 4 / 5 Favorite Track : Since I've Been Loving You Full disclosure - I've never been on the Led Zeppelin bandwagon. Chalk that up to limited exposure to them, possibly. Chalk it up to being a little bull headed and not listening because so many said I should, possibly. Chalk it up to their albums (at home) belonging to my sisters and I wasn't really supposed to mess with them, possibly. For whatever reason, their music (other than the hits) are new to me. Much more bluesy than I thought. Much less hard rock than I thought. This isn't my favorite of their albums, but certainly one I will put back on again. Saying they are "good tunes" would be a little obvious. While some may be better than others, there is not really a bad song on the album. At this point, I have listed to their first 4 albums while going through the playlist and am not as much as a novice on them as I was, before. When I'm finished with all of this, I certainly plan to go back and have a little deeper look at all of their albums. Maybe late coming, but I'll just look at it as me putting them aside so I'll have something good to listen to since there is really no new music to compare. Much more bluesy than I thought. Much less hard rock than I thought. At this point, I have listed to their first 4 albums while going through the playlist and am not as much as a novice on them as I was, before. Amazing album. They explore multiple styles in this album and it works.

Zeppelin never really misses, and even though this isn't one of my favorites, it's still one I can get down to in most occasions. Compared to their other work, some of these songs feel like scrapped ideas or b-sides to other albums, but that's a high bar to hit.

What a way to kick off the album eh? Straight into Immigrant Song - whollop! And then this follows with a bunch of great tracks all in a row. Just very good rock, interesting instrumentation, style. They're a great band. I think the second half tails off a bit, but I do like some of the more folky type songs and they're still good overall. It's a shame I really don't like the last song, because it leaves a bit of a sour note.

Not as great as you’d expect, but I’m very surprised by how much I liked it

This is my least favorite album by my favorite band. I don't think they're as there creatively as they are in their other projects. It was a new direction, but the execution was a tad sloppy. The songs "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" and "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper" exemplify this best. They're disorienting with no real redeeming qualities. "Friends" and "Out On the Tiles" are a little better, but ultimately kind of annoying. Also, I've always thought "Immigrant Song" was overrated, although I do love it. I love the rest, as well, and actually think they're underrated comparatively. I appreciate the band going a new direction into softer rock and still always enjoy listening. I just enjoy some tracks more than others is all. 4/5

You really get pulled into this one right from the start. "Immigrant Song" is a riff that grabs you and makes you gallop along with Jimmy Page. This song is so much shorter than I recalled though. This record contains one of my favorite Zeppelin songs, "Tangerine". It's such a wonderful and sublime 12 string guitar driven piece of music. I think it's really underrated. For me personally if I'm recalling right, this song was a "relationship song" for two people close to me- my brother had a relationship with a girl and this was "their" song (as couples sometimes stake claim), and I think another couple that I knew as well? It made it so that I didn't really listen to the song too much unless I was alone and had headphones on. It was like if I played it out loud I would get a "Come on please don't play that song we're currently broken up." "Come on please don't play that song it makes me sad.", etc. Goodness do I love this song though. This is one of those songs that really transports me- personally to my teenage years, like 13 to 17. I always forget that Zeppelin is a band that is heavily inspired by American folk music. Most of their big radio hits are big rock and rollers with some scattered folk moments here and there, but this album has a lot of great folk elements that shine through. The first half of "Gallows Pole" is a good example of this. Same with "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" Overall it's a 4/5 for me. It's not the best Zeppelin record but as per the usual it's incredible.

really liked it but i think a bit too much country for my taste in the latter half of the album but still very good i would definitely listen again and recommend it

Classic opening and a boss mixture of all types of guitar here. Solos and hard rock to sliding blues. Really can’t say a bad think about Led Zepplin albums that have popped up on here. All first listens for me which is shameful.

After you invade uncharted lands and slaughter nearly everyone, after the songs of praise to Valhalla, after you drink to the deaths of your friends in battle--then you need to start working on your politics. If you're ever going to rule the natives, you need to treat them as your friends. I mean, they're pretty "blue" because your murdered all their friends and families. The least you can do is trade a smile with them. Once things settle down, you can all have a song and dance as you celebrate the new way of things in the promised land. Aaand then the album goes off the rails, taking an equally enjoyable track. Things suddenly turn sexual, even though they're not supposed to be. Oh yeah, sing it! You know how hot I get about you working overtime. You know how turned on I get watching you hang people.

Pretty pretty good

ja goeie

good zeppelin album

Day 1 thoughts: I begrudgingly gave Led Zeppelin IV 5 stars since everyone else did, Stairway rocks, and I knew every other song (even though I wouldn’t seek out the other songs). On this album, I only knew Immigrant Song going in and the others seem more promising than I expected. Proggier vibes, reminds me of ELP at times. I need to listen more times to determine my thoughts Many days later: really like Friends. Still need more work on this album but it's about time I rate it

The first album where Led Zeppelin truly embraced the folk nature behind their sound. John Paul Jones emerges as the multi-instrumentalist he would be known for later on. In many ways LZIII is almost his album. While not remaining as interesting as their previous efforts all throughout, kicking things off with “Immigrant Song” is extremely iconic - and Led Zeppelin is just always fun.

interesting listen. you get what you expect with a led zeppelin album from this era… blues based heavy rock with robert plant’s signature howl. however, there are added bluegrass/country elements with plenty of acoustic guitars as well as a couple of songs with slide guitar. strong effort. highlights: “immigrant song”, “since i’ve been loving you”, “gallows pole”.

Not my favorite Zeppelin album but there’s a lot of good stuff on this one. 6 out of 10 songs being killer will get you a 4.

gutes Rock-Album, schöne Melodien, Gesang ein wenig anstrengend, entspanntes Album zum Hören. 8/10

👍🏻

Hard to ever fault Zep

Close to perfection

Yeah, this is the zeppelin I like...an improvement on the earlier stuff

Better than expected. Some fun tracks all around, should give em more of a chance.

ok yeah this goes hard

Cool album but the last song's recording sounded weird : guitar on left side and voice on right side

Immigrant Song and Since I've Been Loving You are long time favourites. Tangerine is great too. Gets a little samey to be a 5.

Definitely not my favorite Led Zeppelin album, and probably one of the weakest ones. "Immigrant Song", "Since I've Been Loving You", and "Tangerine", are the three big hits and the rest is very hit or miss. Still they are a very influential and amazing band.

I liked this. Some classics on here which I knew already but also some new ones for me.

Classic rock, good stuff, but I've kind of grown out of it and it can get very tiring listening to a screaming voice all the time. 4/5

Amazing voice, great guitar, the rock stuff is quality, the acoustic stuff is brilliant. Just a really good album. It's crazy to think that without Thor Ragnarok no one would have even heard of this band. Marvel you crazy bastards you've done it again!

This was a really good album but overall I don't think the entire album lived up to the level of Immigrant Song. While I enjoyed it the middle section of the album started to blend together a bit. Out on the Tiles was a fun song in the middle though. All in all it was a very good album but needed a few more really good songs to be a true 5 star.

Top 3: 1) Since I've Been Loving You 2) Bron-Y-Aur Stomp 3) Gallows Pole Bottom 3: 1) Out On The Tiles 2) Celebration Day 3) Friends (far from a bad song but there is no way I can put anything from the 2nd half on a Bottom 3)

One of the best opening songs to an album ever. AH AH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AH

I think I like Zeppelins II and IV better (been years since I've listened to either all the way through) but this one's still solid.

I liked it

Immigrant Song as the actual rock, but a switch to more folky stuff. Pleasant surprises: That’s the Way, Tangerine, Out on the Tiles

Amazing guitar work of course. The album is more bluesy and folksy than I expected, and very listenable. It's just not really my style and not something I'm likely to revisit.

A solid and diverse LP that offers 70s rock at its best. I have to shamefully admit my experience with this album didn't go beyond 'Immigrant Song,' so I'm glad to have a chance to revisit and take in the wealth of musical talent on display. From the eerily off-kilter symphonic accompaniment on 'Friends' to the straightforward chugging of 'Celebration Day,' Zepp manages to pull off a staggering range while maintaining their distinct sound and feel throughout. I did feel the back half sagged due to the front-loading of all the uptempo tracks, but even in its slower moments, this LP delivers a genuine, rich compositional feel that has easily stood the test of time.

Excellent album, but they have better for me.

Great musical interplay. A classic band in their groove.

Haven't visited this in a long while. While it is recognized as an iconic classic rock staple, "Immigrant Song" is a bit irritating, and one of my least favorites here. I must have overlooked "Friends" since last listening...what an incredible track. It may be Led Zeppelin's least representative album, yet it is one of their most eclectic for certain, with much of the album emphasizing their roots: folk music. Being several years older since playing this last, I can appreciate the efforts of what the classic rock group achieved here far more. Perhaps still not my favorite, but it is a high quality entry in their discography.

This may have divided opinion at the time but it sounds great now. The more adventurous musical styles generally work well but it still has a banger in Immigrant Song, with comes a close second to Tangerine as best song.

Alright peeps we've got Led Zeppelin III up in here. Now, let me tell you, this album starts off like a punch in the face with the classic banger "Immigrant Song." I mean, I almost spilled my martini all over my velvet smoking jacket when that riff hit - it's just killer and it sets the tone for the rest of the record... ... is what I would've hoped. But, as the album progresses, it kinda ebbs out, and it's like the band felt like they gave it all with that first song, went off and did some yoga and then came back with a more classic rock sound that takes you through the rest of the album. Now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with that. Tracks like "Gallows Pole" and "Since I've Been Loving You" are still great tracks, but they're more like a gentle massage than like the wild ride we went through at the start. Overall, I'd give Led Zeppelin III a solid 3.5 out of 5. It's like a roller coaster that starts off with a loop-de-loop but then settles into a nice, smooth ride throughout the rest of the album. .5's aren't available here so I'm being nice and kicking it up to a 4 just for Immigrant Song. It's just that good.

This is a good Zeppelin album, not their best but still good. Immigrant Song and Since I’ve Been Loving You are the two obvious standouts. Gallows Pole, Tangerine and Bron-Y-Aur stomp all great but there’s also a couple lacklustre fillers on here so I can’t quite give it a 5. Still great overall 4 stars

Still a bit shouty and stressful but starting to grow on me. Even when they are doing acoustic folk i find my face screws up. A few mellower tracks in amongst there though.

Good album. A nice mix of rock and folk. Not as punchy as LZ4 but well worth a listen

Enjoyable rock for the ages.

It was pretty ok. At least it wasn’t an hour and a half long like their other album.I don’t think I’ll relisten to any of the songs though besides immigrant song. It’s just not my kinda vibe.

A classic rock album. Above average.

Good album

The first 6 albums by LZ are all great. I find this one a little uneven but contains beautiful moments and more obvious standout moments.

never dislike a led zep song. however it's rarely must listen, apart from Immigrant song of course. 4 but only just

Niet mis voor een keer

Not as good as their other stuff, IV is definitely better, but still amazing.

Absolute classic.

not the best zeppelin but second tier zeppelin is far beyond the capacity of most mortals

Never really extensively listened to Led Zeppelin before but taking time to listen to this album really reminded me why these guys were so big in the first place. Great, fun rock album.

A great ablum, but not quite a classic like most of their others

Led Zep rocks on.. and here with folk/singer/song elements, demonstrating that they were much more than the average rock band.

Lovely stuff. Well done Zep lads

FINALLY! I've been waiting *checks history* 175 (!) days for a Zeppelin album to crop up. "III" isn't my favorite, but that's like saying "Help" isn't my favorite Beatles album; regardless, it's still fucking fantastic. That said, I'm not as familiar with Zeppelin as I am with the Beatles. I've got a multi-disc box set that's been my main source of Zeppelin experience, so seeing which tracks are on which album will be fun, as should getting acquainted with the tracks that didn't make it into the set (or ones that were in it, but I overlooked). "III" has its share of classics, most notably "Immigrant Song," "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp," and "Tangerine" (and "Gallows Pole," and "Since I've Been Loving You," and...), but I was unfamiliar with "Out on the Tiles," which I quite enjoyed, as well as "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper". This is a solid album, especially if you're a fan of Jimmy Page (which I am; he's my second favorite Jimmy, second only to Jimi Hendrix). "Hats Off..." has especially sweet, bluesy work by Page. Bottom line: it's fuckin' Zeppelin, man. You can't go wrong.

Not the stereotypical sound of Zeppelin but demonstrates how versatile and diverse their discography actually was. 5 decades later and still the wonder they were. I think the songs lose the momentum of Immigrant Song, but overall a diverse album of sounds and a great listen in a good run time.

Interesting mix of many different styles/genres, not what I expected. But certainly not bad either. In the end though, the lack of a couple powerhouse songs and the missing red line makes this only a 4 star album

A lil bit different approach from led zeppelin, great nontheless 7.5/10

Since I Been Loving You is a keeper but the rest of the album is nowhere near that good. Still, this is way above whatever bar is used to pick the best 1001.

After two albums full of balls-to-the-wall hard rock, Led Zeppelin starts its third outing with a shining example of the same-and then says “okay, enough of that, let’s get weird.” From swampy delta blues to sprightly English folk, Zeppelin broaden their horizons and have a damn good time doing it.

Excellent good, liked it.

It was my first time really listening to Led Zepplin and I really enjoyed it.

sounds pretty cool and unique! love the falsetto vocals in first four tunes! favourites: Immigrant Song / Since I've Been Loving You / Tangerine

Not my favorite Led Zeppelin album, but a solid one for sure. Coming off of an ambient music album, this is pretty freaking great.

Highlights: Immigrant Song, Since I've Been Loving You, Tangerine 🍊 4,5/5

I was going into this album blind. I haven't properly listened to Led Zeppelin before, although they are constantly recommended to me, primarily from my brother. I wasn't expecting the album to sound the way it did. My ignorant perception of Led Zeppelin is that they only do hard rock. I was surprised that the album seemed to become more folk rock oriented as it went on which is right up my alley. The album began in the hard rock vein, opening with 'Immigrant Song' (the only song I recognized from the album). 'Since I've Been Loving You' presents itself as very "Janis Joplin-esque". A slow blues rock number which is worth every one of its seven minutes. Folk Rock emerges as the dominant theme with the later half of the album, particularly with the trilogy of 'Tangerine', 'That's The Way', and 'Bron-Y-Aur Stomp'. Throughout the entire album the famously highly regarded musicianship of the band is in full force. Aggressive guitar and bass tones paired with tight and purposeful drumming are an awesome pairing with Robert Plants unique vocals. This was a good album. FAVORITE SONGS: - Since I've Been Loving You - Gallows Pole - Tangerine - Bron-Y-Aur Stomp 4.25/5

Nearly perfect album, but I've listed to it too many times.

listened to again their least liked album, but still great imo

this has much less of the major issue i had with led zeppelin II, so much more of this is original, and the blues that they stole is more properly credit and obviously more of a tribute than a rip-off led zeppelin really finds themselves here, to pretty fabulous results. it's not their fault, but the punch of immigrant song has been ruined over the years due to its inclusion in commercial products like thor ragnarok (jack black singing it in school of rock is okay) out on the tiles is an underrated zeppelin classic - holy shit the lead guitar on that one is so cool. my main issue with this one is that robert plant is a little more grating here than on other albums. he's such a talent, but he's so often scream-singing here that it starts to get on the nerve a bit i like the more acoustic direction on a few of these tracks, especially bron-y-aur stomp. page is such a great guitarist, so hearing him bust out an acoustic is awesome and a big change of pace from a lot of early zeppelin much better than lz 2. hats off gents

My least favourite of the first four Led Zep albums. That said, worth it alone for the epic "Since I've Been Loving You".

underrated!

Great album, it’s been a while.

notes - third album by led zeppelin (duh) - performed and produced by the band, sent off to engineers for mix and master - the band wanted a big change, used more acoustic guitars, open tunings - love that you can hear little elements like the squeaking kick pedal, guitar pick noise, and amp buzzing - adds to the vibe - the acoustic direction is great, and they do a really good job of translating what works in their louder songs to that type of arrangement - john bonham takes a back seat on this album for the most part, which is a shame but hes great at knowing when and when not to play fav - since ive been loving you - those last couple minutes… chills Least fav - Out on the tiles - sounded like the band was going back to what they knew would work 4.5/5

This is a really good album. The songs are high quality on an individual level. However, something is lacking for me and I feel light I’m splitting hairs. It could be that I measure them by their other albums that are stupendous. But I am not excited consistently by this album. I’m giving it a 4, and I feel kind of bad about it.

Ahh the "acoustic Zeppelin album" (as was poorly nicknamed by friends in middle school) - this was a slow burn if you grew up on "THE CLASSIC HITS" on radio but damn this is so much better than a "superset of zeppelin" on the radio any day. Maybe it's the lack of overkill from old DJs, but likely it's the variety in here that I enjoy. Sure we start off with one of those short hard rock classics in "Immigrant Song" but "Friends" is a really odd change of pace - and a fantastic one. Odd and semi-off-putting chords create this almost Middle Eastern droning effect. Love it. Aside from Friends, the rest of "first side" isn't too out of character - I'm not a big fan of "Since I've Been Loving You" - bluesy yeah yeah we get it get on with it already. Far too long and uninteresting. But surrounded by a few great rockers it's not unfamilar Zeppelin. But the real changes start with "Gallows Pole" through the rest of the album - a lighter touch (meaning laying off the electric guitars / big drums) and some mysterious and lovely chord progressions - very folky and very much *not* bombastic. There's nothing I actively dislike on the album, but I just can't quite bring myself to give it a 5 - perhaps primarily Plant's voice has always been a bit much to take at times and although it's *mostly* perfectly mixed on this album, his blues warblings i'm just all done with by "Hats of to Harper." Overall this is among my favourite Zeppelin works - especially the first 4 cut sequence from side 2 - and I'm not convinced they got much better after this. 9/10 4 stars.

T3B 1. Immigrant Song 2. Out on the Tiles 3. Since I’ve Been Loving You Led!!! Easy 4!

Expected riffs, got jangly guitars but it was still great

Album starts with a banger and doesn't quite reach that height again. Still I really enjoyed it and thought it was a great album overall.

Really enjoyed that. Never listened to a Led Zeppelin album before. Not what I expected. So close to giving it a 5

Just awesome. Favorite track: Immigrant Song

Very fun listen with some classics. Fav song: Tangerine

Stone cold classic.

First Zeppelin album, Favorite track: Since I've Been Loving You, 80/100

Not quite on the level of IV but still tons of great singles and deep cuts

Since I’ve Been Loving You. 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

Rock de Led Zeppelin. Un megahit. Un 4.

Tiene dos canciones que me gustan mucho (Inmigrant Song, Tangerine), pero otras no.

Not my favorite so far between the three. Still good shit tho! Fuckin page and his underage girlies. Lots of jams but nothing caught my ear except for their big ones on this album

Episch, allerdings etwas ruhiger als ich erwartet hatte. Insgesamt klasse Werk!

"Tangerine" suivi de "That's the Way", c'est les émotions....

je peux malheureusement affirmer que Spotify n'a PAS enlevé la feature qui lance les albums en aléatoire

Another chance to drag out some vinyl and listen to it, a nice reissue gifted to me by my brother long ago, complete with the recreated spinning image wheel. Zeppelin goes straight back to my musical roots as a high school intellectual stoner, and I still love the music unironically, unsophisticated though this taste may be.

Zep showcasing their breath of musical knowledge and enthusiasm for pushing boundaries.

Rock solid Zeppelin

Decent stuff

Immigrant Song, what an opener!

The immigrant song slaps

Rock, 1970. This is not a Led Zeppelin's masterpiece like I or IV, but it's definitely one of their best projects and it contains also one of their biggest hits "Immigrant Song". Great record.

I'm not much of a Led Zep fan but this really worked for me.

some good solid rock

I haven't really listened to a full album by Zeppelin (aside from the 2 I already had on this list) in a while so I'm going by memory a bit. This is a continuation of Zeppelin improving. I think the first album is pretty "meh" but the second was a bit better. There's some absolutely great songs here, including one of myvall time favorites from the band: That's The Way. Not to say that the rockers like Immigrant Song and Out on The Tiles aren't great, because they are. I like this album a lot. The the next 2 albums are peak Zeppelin to me, but this one is damn good.

Led Zeppelin

More experimental in their sounds and a bit of a departure but some cool stuff. Surprised how much acoustic guitar from Jimmy is on this album. Still shreds.

A-A-AAAAA-A, A-A-AAAAA-A Aa-Haa-Haa-Haa-Haa-Haa-yeah-yeah aA-hAA-aA-hAA-haA-hAaa-yeah-yeah

A-A-AAAAA-A, A-A-AAAAA-A Aa-Haa-Haa-Haa-Haa-Haa-yeah-yeah aA-hAA-aA-hAA-haA-hAaa-yeah-yeah 4/1001

was vibin with it until I got to the last song

This album is known for bringing out the lighter and more whimsical side of Led Zeppelin. I know I spent many hours in my youth listening to the acoustic oriented songs on what used to be called side 2. But Immigrant Song hits as hard as anything in the Led Zep canon, and Since I’ve Been Loving You still thrills me with its peaks and valleys, the full band hitting crescendo after crescendo and Jimmy Page taking that solo at what feels like breakneck speed. Such fun. Sandwiched between the releases that gave us Whole Lotta Love and Stairway, this album may seem overlooked. But it’s a real gem.

Probably the zeppelin album I like most

I prefer IV but this has some Great songs, the Classic "Immigrant Song" and "Gallows Pole" are both good songs. I also like the nod to another English Genius "Hats Off To (Roy) Harper.

I’ll confess to never having been to keen on Zep’s bluesier cuts. To my surprise however, this album demonstrates a versatility and nuance that I thought beyond this band. Side 2 of this album in particular really won me round. The folky stuff is really quite outstanding - sometimes understated and atmospheric before really indulging in some grandiose elements. Thoroughly enjoyed this, though Plant’s voice begins to grate after a while.

It opens with Immigrant Song, which has to be one of the greatest openers ever. After that it's great, but veers into turgid 12 string folk stomps a little too often to be brilliant.

This album is hygge. It is a cozy blanket with a caramel cappuccino around a camp fire.

I know this album is a classic but it just doesn't resonate with me. Yes, Immigrant Song is awesome, Tangerine is a great song, and the album is very technically sound... but I just didn't care by the end.

Said before, I’m not a big Led Zep fan, but… No denying how great Immigrant Song is with its charging rhythm and howls. And I really like the variety of folky, bluesy, and 70’s metal guitar. So that said, probably my favorite Led Zep record if I had to pick one.

Immigrant Song and Tangerine are great. The rest of the album is good but not my favorite Zeppelin.

Amazing band. A few misses on this album but that hardly taints it.

Terrific piece of music. But maybe it's just the nostalgia talking. Remembering putting the record on the turntable, turning it on, wiping the dust off, putting the needle on the record, (and somehow still getting static noises)... but the anticipation of hearing the rush from the first song.

Enjoyable to really get an album that you know what you're going to get going in. This has more varied pacing, but excels with rock, blues and folks. Was really impressed by Since I've Been Loving You... haven't had much exposure to that and it is stellar. Tangerine and Immigrant Song are the clear other favorites. Very enjoyable.

Sort of recognized some of the songs and sound of the vocalist. Fun listen, really enjoyed it.

Great album that features the 12 string heavily, even a bit of banjo that I’ve never picked up on before. Puts me in a trance like a deep zen pill.

Solo por cómo empieza ya merece la pena ser escuchado. Hay tantas cosas interesantes en este disco del año 1970 que a veces cuesta pensar en lo poco que han evolucionado otros músicos a partir de inspirarse en estos grupos. "Immigrant song", "Gallows pole" o "Tangerine".

great album, zepellin is really innovative

Always considered this one to be the weakest of the four self-titled albums. It still has the absolute bangers that are "Immigrant Song", "Tangerine" and "Since I've Been Loving You" and none of the songs are bad, so that really just speaks on how good the other self-titled albums are. These guys are truly legends in the citrus rock genre. Lemons, tangerines.. should have done a song about limes as well to complete the holy trifecta.

Classic

Fint og varierende album, men mangler de skikkelig gode sangen

Fave Zep track is on this album, the almighty Since I've Been Loving You. A few other cool tracks, but enough filler tracks to knock the whole package down to a 4. A high 4, but a 4 nonetheless.

This is our second Led Zeppelin album on this list, and I find myself more impressed with this one even though the album was the other's predecessor. I may be paying more attention now or perhaps differently, more than 100 albums later, but I feel more expression and creativity here. A worthy addition to this list. There were some notable songs that stood out. if you're not clapping during "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp," then I don't know what you're doing. A shoutout to "Immigrant Song," which is such a classic banger of a song that deserves all its praise. It's definitely the hardest on the album. "Friends," which I maybe heard on the radio once or twice, stood out to me. I keep listening to it and finding more to enjoy about it. I thought "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" would've been my favorite but "Friends" grabbed the title a few listens in. The guitar opening on "Celebration Day." The simplicity of "Tangerine." The songs are varied and enjoyable. some were okay to me overall, but nothing was bad.

Prior to 1001, this was one of my lesser liked (but still liked) Led Zeppelin albums. I would say that is still the case. That said, this is still a solid album which an amazing variety of instrumentation and vocal effects, and I have a new appreciation for it after listening to it in the scope of this project. Though it may not be a favorite album, Immigrant Song is hands down a favorite song from this album, and one of the best in Led Zeppelin's entire discography. Also, though maybe "underrated" is not the right word, I have always thought Gallows Pole doesn't get enough recognition; they manage to accomplish so much build up and excitement in a song with very minimal instrumentation. Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, as far as I'm concerned, is a secret sleeper agent banger on this album. Again, III is not my favorite, but Led Zeppelin makes it hard not to respect and appreciate their chemistry and inventiveness. What they do was cutting edge at the time, and it just WORKS.

Classic rock album with some blues/acoustic influence.

Enjoyed it, great album

Solid classic, a bit of progressive rock. Overall very good.

This ones class - 3rd in my rankings of led zepp albums feels the most unique out of their albums I've listened to. Purely due to having loads of acoustic sections (which are a great change). Also since I've been loving you is definitely a top 5 zeppelin track

Led Zeppelin II is the ultimate album. Following that is a difficult task, and III is a far cry from II. That being said, it's a different animal all together. Much more subdued, exploratory, but still cohesive. As a band, these guys are perfection. Every part of music is demonstrated to mastery with every song they perform, so it's impossible to not like this stuff even though they have peaks and valleys. What's great about III is that it builds and while you listen, there's a journey that goes out with a bang!

a more acoustic sounding led zeppelin album, that still touches hard rock, folk rock and blues influences throughout

8/10. Immigrant Song is always fun, rest of the album pretty good too

Definitely the weakest Zeppelin we’ve had so far. 8/10

A blend of folk and rock. Still think Physical Graffiti is their best album

Excellent!

Probably the most eclectic of the Led Zeppelin albums, it contains the usual bunch of hard rockers interspersed with straight blues and a heap of folky acoustic material (that mostly works), part of it with a subtle middle-eastern bent, foreshadowing the direction some of the band’s music would later take. As with all Led Zep albums, III is a super solid record, and up there with their best, but often gets overlooked between their debut and Led Zeppelin II and IV.

Listened to on 5/30/22 4/5 Favorite song: immigrant song I love Led Zeppelin and this album didn’t fail to be a series of bops- the immigrant song is quintessential 70s and I loved every moment of listening to it 3 times

Not quite as good as 2 and 4 but still great. Also a surprising amount of bluegrass songs

Good, obviously. Tangerine and That's The Way are beautiful songs, Jimmy Page is just incredible, though there's not enough on this album to lift it above a 4 overall for me.

Standout Songs: Immigrant Song, Since I've Been Loving You, Tangerine, Hats odd To (Roy) Harper

Immigrant Song is such a classic, Tangerine and Gallows Pole are also great.

Classic Zeppelin III. Not much more to say

If only Gandalf knows how to play guitar…

III will never be my go-to Zeppelin, but this was better than I've given it credit for.

Starts with a bang and remained decent throughout. Glad it didn’t fizzle out like I was thinking it might.

Solid album - didn’t blow me away, but I would listen to it again.

It's not got the big hits of Zep II or IV, but this is really good...lesser songs like Celebration Day and Out on the Tiles are really good, and then the bangers like Immigrant Song, That's the Way, etc. just round it out. Hats off to Roy is the only real dud on the album, and even it's not as bad as I remember.

It's all Led to me. Which means some I love and others just sound the same. Idk, I guess it's a solid 4 for me

Great album, will be listening to it again

I'll give 4 stars because of peer pressure, but I don't see anything special about Led Zeppelin...

The album that made Jimmy Page hate the press, simply because they couldn't understand why Zep went acoustic. Probably Cameron Crowe's favorite Zeppelin album. The highs (Immigrant Song, That's The Way, Tangerine) really soar, and are among the best of their catalog. The rest is something of a mixed bag, and a foretaste of the feast to come on the next album...

Think I've listened to Zeppelin's one and two and not really been into it. Three was pretty nice though!

Solid album from start to finish.

3.8 - excellent mix of harder tacks like “Immigrant Song” and more melodic tunes like “Tangerine”. Solid listen for a great band.

Classic Rock. Well deserve 4 +++

I've had a love/hate relationship with Led Zeppelin for a long time. Fortunately, this one is in my favorite albums of the group. The folkish songs on this record are phenomenal and Immigrant Song is a killer opener. Not a perfect album though, maybe the last 3 songs weren't needed. Anyway, it deserves 4 stars for sure.

Love me some Led Zeppelin. Truth be told, this is probably only my 5th favorite Zeppelin album (Top 4 are Physical Graffiti, Houses of the Holy, Led Zeppelin II, and Led Zeppelin IV, roughly in that order) but it's still great. 4 stars.

When you open your album with “Immigrant Song” it is really hard to follow that. Zeppelin needed 9 more tracks to fill the void but they do it here. If not for IV’s more solid lineup this would’ve been Zeppelins best album.

Don’t think I’ve ever listened to this album in full. Celebration Day has always been a favorite and makes me think of playing bass with Xan at 16. Ultimately still a tier below LZ II and Houses of the Holy in my opinion if only for the creativity of the songs. Still has that earlier LZ sound I like so much more than the albums after HotH.

This was my favorite Led Zeppelin record for years before I heard "Presence" and never looked back. "Since I've Been Loving You" is in the running for my favorite song by the band. You want to know what makes me feel like the Beatles were mortals more than anything? The fact that this record was released the same year as the last Beatles record. I like to think I would have thought "F the Beatles, this is the 70s and I'm a Led Zep man" the way Jimmy Page wanted. Not sure I would have. But, this and Black Sabbath drew a line in the sand. Not to mention Pink Floyd's "Atom Heart Mother." 1970 was a passing of the torch in some ways. Even the Stones had to find their way and work their asses off to make records that hung with the new class of insurgent rock bands. What an exciting time in music.

I love Led Zeppelin, but I really don't know much about them or their discography - which makes it hard to judge this album against their others. But - at the end of the day - they're the Zep, the album rocks. What more do I need to know?

Great rock album

Not their best but it is still really good. I love the latter half run from Gallows -> Bron Y Aur. So solid.

Most definitely the lesser of the better albums from Led Zeppelin (a distinguished list that includes 1 to 4 + Physical Graffiti). But lesser does not mean that it’s anything less than excellent, brimming as it is with classics (Immigrant Song) and signature blues tracks (Since I’ve Been Loving You).

Revenge of the Led. This was nice and boppy! I'm glad the generator made me listen to Led Zeppelin as I enjoyed this. Again I'm torn between a 3 or a 4, I wish the rating system was out of 10 tbh.

This was good and I had fun!

Led Zep's first two albums are great, but have quite rightly been regarded as rip-offs of classic blues artists, and they don't bring much of their own sound to the records. This is the first album where they really bring something different to the table, with a wide variety of styles blending together in a pretty perfect way

Pretty good album. I liked the banjo that showed up in the one song. 1 recognized song

5 star album by any conventional scale but led gets judged on their own scale

Immigrant song is a hell of a way to start off an album. After that, this becomes a more straight ahead blues album with hard rock layered over it. It works pretty well, and there are plenty of classic songs on this album. One thing that was hard to keep out of my mind while listening to this is that the next three albums that they are going to put out are going to be IV, Houses of the Holy, and Physical Graffiti. This album is not as strong as those, but on its own it's very good. It's clear that this album is previewing where the band is going, but it's not quite there yet 4/5

Muito mais músicas boas do que eu imaginava

Some good rocking here

Inte Zeppelins bästa, men det säger inte så mycket. Immigrant Song är en sån jävla tokbanger, man glömmer ibland hur bra Zep är för att de är en sån stor del av kanonen vid det här laget men de är så ägiga??

Very under rated. But I'm biased.

Another superb entry by Led Zeppelin. Incredible how they could pop out these amazing records a year apart. This album is where LZ starts to explore other genres, blues here, funk there, and overall very much a blend of folk and heavy metal. It's hard to even hate the less interesting songs cause the band members all work so well together, not just the rhythmic drumming or Plant's delivery, but for me it's Page's guitar that firmly establishes him as one of the best, if not the best, guitarist of all time. The highlights of this album are "Immigrant Song", "Since I've Been Loving You", "Tangerine", "That's the Way", and "Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp." Half the album, not bad. "Since I've Been Loving You" is one of my favorite songs of all time; that masterpiece is enough for me to keep coming back to this album. Despite the fact this is my least favorite pre-Presence album, it just goes to show LZ has one of the most consistent discographies in music history.

A couple of gimmicky throwaway tracks… Hats Off should have been an instrumental. But the great Immigrant Song is only like the fifth-best one, and that’s really saying something. I saved several of these for permanent rotation, and I’m so glad I finally heard the drums on Out On The Tiles.

Immigrant Song

Well, its another LZ BANGAAA. Hot topic which album is best, but there's some gold in here: Immigrant Song and Since I've Been Loving You. Perhaps a 4*... tough!

Ein á mínum uppáhalds

Not my favorite Zeppelin album, but awesome nonetheless. "That's The Way" has quickly become one of my favorite songs of theirs. Just like every Led Zeppelin albums, there are enough hits that can draw you in, that you end up listening to the whole record.

Love this group

One of Led's greatest songs kicks this album off and lets just say I've been waiting since the beginning of the year to review a Led Zepplin album. Three is not in the top albums for me but that is only because I was never as familiar with it as 1 or 2 or Physical Graffiti. After listening to it, I'd still keep it lower on my list only because I was always more a fan of their rock side than folk side but this is still a classic album.

FINALLY. We've made it through 242 albums before hitting our first from Led Zeppelin. Starting with III is interesting because this is personally my least favorite of the self-titled series, at least that was my perception going into it today. Coming out, I'm not so sure. This is a fantastic album, and I knew that going in, but so many more great songs than I recognized or remembered. Crazy that Immigrant Song is the biggest hit on here, I certainly don't think it's the best. An obvious departure from their usual hard rock fare to folksy blues. Lots of acoustic and sliding steel guitars. They really committed to a sound and overall it came out really well. I don't think this is on the same plane as the first two LZ albums, but damn it's also terrific. Favorite tracks: Tangerine, Hats Off to Roy Harper, Out on the Tiles, Immigrant Song, Since I Been Loving You. Album art: Love the cover, and seeing it here larger than usual illuminates incredible detail. Very lively and funky, feels organic in the way the music does as well. But the first four Zeppelin album covers are iconic regardless. 4.5/5

some great tracks on here, Plant's voice and Page's guitar work are such a good combo

Never listed to the Zep much before. Really quite liked it

Pretty sweet album. Consistent rock.

I used to play this album so much - haven't played it for years now, but it's still great.

shame spotify links you to the remaster by default. the curse of the spotify remasters! lowkey wish it was 2 rather than 3, but I'll take what I can get also, it turns out the first led zep album came out 50 years ago, which is really strange and incredible to me for some reason

This album starts on a high with Immigrant song, but can't really follow it up - a lot of good riffs but not much that really reaches out and grabs me, although celebration day is close. I'd come back to this album for an enjoyable listen, but it's never going to be one of my favourites.

Plenty of bangers and still as full sounding

The album leads off with its best song. The Immigrant song sets the tone for the album, but none of the other songs live up to it, and leaves you a little disappointed. A lot more bluesy songs on this album.

I think this was one of my favorite Zeppelin albums at one point but I haven't listened to Led Zeppelin in a while. It's definitely a great record but I listening back this time it was a little underwhelming this time. I think there are two reasons * The recording quality leaves a bit to be desired. Sounds a bit thin in places (probably the first time I'm listening to this on a truly hi-fi audio setup) * It's a bit less bombastic than earlier Zeppelin albums. They definitely started to do more acoustic stuff and ballads. The is one of the things I used to really like about this album but probably I just wasn't in the mood for mellow Zeppelin this time out so not going to count this against it too much. Anyway, hard to rate this anything but a 4. A great record.

I genuinely cannot believe how good that album sounded. I played the first track expecting to hear hard rock, what I encountered was bluesy rock and a bit folky as well. My perception of Led Zeppelin has been totally overturned, and for the better as well

Great display of folk and rock blending tinny folk acoustics with heavier rock riffs and drums. Not the album that brings me home but a refreshing and impressive collection from one of the greatest with some classics snuck in. 4.49 Friends, Out on the tiles, gallows pole, tangerine

Obviously, the musicianship is faultless, and thankfully the professionalism here is part of the band's passion for an eclectic range of music. Yet one would like a more organic tracklisting; the division of the LP into electric and acoustic sides makes the album feel like slightly artificial, as if driven by guile as much as creativity. Also, and you may disagree, the cumulation and ordering of the acoustic tracks causes the last two tracks, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp and Hats off to (Roy) Harper, to sound a little peculiar, like experiments that don't completely come off. Nevertheless, there's more than enough meat here.

yup, still like this. some songs still played now and then on remastered box

Familiar Led Zeppelin sound, but also a bit of experimentation on this album. Not perfect, but lots to like, with Since I've been Loving You and Tangerine as particular highlights.

Tiene dos canciones que me gustan mucho (Inmigrant Song, Tangerine), pero otras no.

More folky and even bluesy than their prior work. Not my favorite album of theirs but definitely some hidden gems.

Incredible start, but then nothing else on the album quite holds up to Immigrant song. One more banger makes this an easy 5

Not a cohesive album imo, but when it's good it's "best ever" good. And there's more good than not. Deserves to be on this list.

Great album. Knew a few of the songs but dont think I had listened to it all before.
