wayy preferred this to the Peter tosh record. very cool

Alongside Bob Marley & The Wailers during the golden age of roots reggae was Burning Spear (aka Winston Rodney). Like many roots reggae albums, Marcus Garvey is a poignantly political album that tackles a lot of the hardships of the Jamaican people. Unfortunately it's still reggae. This is a genre that does not stick with me much, though I am happy to appreciate it from afar.

foundational listening for anyone interested in reggae.

Wow. Talk about a tough topic to create an album around. These songs are deep and heavy.

I liked this, but I'm not a massive fan of the genre and it didn't sour me nor did it expand my interests. The voice and musical notes were interesting and had some fun layers to the sound.

It's so so

Yeah, it’s fine.

I really like the lyrics of this and reggae is awesome. Don’t know if I’d ever listen again though.

Had a listen to this twice, some good storytelling and a couple of really well written tunes. Overall I found it a bit repetitive, but that is a recurring problem for me with Reggae!

Noice 3.5

I feel like I just listened to 10 of the same song It had lovely vibes, very chill and laid back, and I would be satisfied to hear this playing as background music at a beach party. But it was ALLLL the same A few songs had very deep messages but you could easily have put all the messages into one or two songs. I liked this album, but it got too repetitive and I was tempted to skip through it.

Nice classic reggae music from 1975.

A short and sweet but solid little reggae album. Doesn’t fall into the genre’s usual trap of beating a melodic dead horse, as each track arrives with distinctive progressions and flair for a compact 2-3 minute jaunt.

A good reggae album. I guess it's important for the political message.

Less "pop" than Bob Marley's reggae, and more vibe oriented and explicitly political in its lyrics (though Bob Marley was obviously extremely political as well). Some of these songs give us history lessons in the lyrics which is interesting but there are very few lyrics I found memorable. This was not an album I'd ever heard before.

First reggae album I've got. So I have a strange relationship with reggae. I never listen to it but I always like it when it comes on. I guess it just feels very different to everything I usually listen to so it never occurs. Plus, it's a whole new genre with a whole new history; I wouldn't know where to start. This is a good start for me, though. I really enjoyed it. Although I'm noticing a trend of albums wearing thin on me as they go on because of a samy-ness. I wonder if it's because, in music styles I don't listen to much, I don't hear the subtleties I would in styles I'm more familiar with.

Pretty cool

I do like some old school reggae...

I liked it. I'll definitely give it another spin, but nothing left me agog with wonder. It was just very good.

I like some reggae from time to time, but a full album is a little to much. This album has some good songs.

some smooth Jamaican music

Lekkere reggae!

Burning Spear is a big deal in the roots reggae pantheon. This record is just one of several that give evidence to this assessment.

- Yeah man Babylon, Baby-Babylon..." - No problem man, thanks for the vibes ! One love." Je l'attrapai par les dreads, le traînai jusqu'à sa porte d'entrée et lui claquai cette dernière en plein sur son nez.

Robert est en train de me réconcilier avec le reggae, après Bob Marley et sa quête d'Exodia le maudit, voici que Burning Spear vient nous offrir un album somme toute très agréable.

1975. Marcus Garvey

Workmanlike. Washes over me a bit.

3 stars

Alright, but it mainly served to show how good ol' Bobby Marls was 2.5

Groovy first beat, although I thought it lacked some variation on the whole a rather pleasant little album. Up Marcus Garvey

Great voice. Reggae legend 3.5/5

The start and end of this album are strong but it gets a bit weak in the middle.

This is all fine. I think it might be time that I’m not really that bothered about Reggae, I just really like Bob Marley. 😮

It was fun and interesting but I need more listens to really get hooked

Good reggae album and with a lot of poignant lyrics

Marcus Garvey hey. Thanks 1001 for another introduction. It was a nice foil to the hottest 100, which way pretty modern vanilla.

Probably the only time I've sat down to listen to a Reggae album. Liked some of the political tones.

Giving this the benefit of the doubt; maybe I'm not in a reggae mood today but this grated a bit. Was still fine and short.

Yet another reggae album that is a fine example of the genre but nothing new

For a reggae album Marcus Garvey is quite good, it's chilled but has a powerful vibe, doesn't get too repetitive, easy to listen to. An enjoyable 3.

This grew on me the more I listened to it - stuck the album on again after I got into it more towards the end of my first listen, and I like this. Maybe it's a bit too clean and smooth for its message and style, but it's still a good listen. 3/5.

Not bad

Good Album, but the reggae style wore on me after the first few songs. It was interesting to hear very ideal versions of the genre to analyze the theory, and a great listen

Actually pretty cool reggae 3.4/5

Reggae kinda vibey. Chill but not what I particularly like. 3.5

Interesting to listen to but not on my all time top five list of anything.

Belissima e agradavel surpresa. Burning Spear; Slavery Days; Invasion.

Good old fashioned reggae album, this and a blunt

I wish I was familiar enough with reggae to make a more informed judgement. As it is, it is not bad at all, but not interesting either.

Burning Spear holds a special place in the Reggae genre with his roots in the scene when the music began to attract larger reach. This album ties directly into the larger political message of the Rasta movement and experience of the Jamaican people, rather than the commercialized appeal. This authentic self leads to the meshing with the concept and what people think of with Reggae music in broader circles.

Hadn't heard this one before but glad it was on the list. A very nice surprise.

Low-key anger.

I've never given much of my listening time to reggae music. I like what I've listened too. Very nice groove.

Decent Reggae-Album which doesn't do anything really new and doesn't change my view of the genre either

Favourite song: Marcus Garvey

Interesting album, but quite normal overall.

Never heard this before, but solid reggae

Honestlyi liked this more than I thought I would. A lot of emotion on this album. Good instrumental too

Notes - Third album from reggae artist burning spear - Named after Rastafari prophet Marcus Garvey - singer has a great sorrowful gritty voice - cool use of keys and synths - definitely vibe music - put it on and chill - scratches a different itch than the bob marley album from a couple weeks back fav - the invasion - Least fav - Give me - Horns sounded out of tune? Bit of an odd song 3/5, its good but i wouldnt listen again

I once dipped my burning spear into the head mistress of the local secondary school. She was quite a goer. Loved it up her harris and often let me spill all over her hair. Dead now, of course. I can never keep them alive.

I enjoyed it but not mad on it. I like Reggae but I don't love it, I prefer the up beat of Ska or more of the dub style. It's got to have that dirty great bass running through it. This album felt a little polished really, which reading about it is the studios fault, not the bands. Would be interested to hear the original mix. So the one I enjoyed the most was the most dub, Red gold and green.

This is about what I expected the album to be like. The songs blend together for me, but they still sound good. I don't really have much to say about it. My favourite song was probably Tradition.

This was fun, I liked the first track the most.

More raw sounding roots Reggae than Bob Marley, which is ironic as it was polished up for international label release.

Protest music that loses its bite upon being associated with a black nationalist who found common cause with the KKK and celebrated Jim Crow in America. Musically, his singing voice detracts from my enjoyment of the otherwise good and interesting instrumentation. Best track: Marcus Garvey, I guess

Good classic reggae

It's good reggae, but a whole album of it just feels repetitive. Very powerful message though.

3.5 stars but ultimatley prefer the spacier, more experimental dub-type stuff like that UB40 album

Groovy. But so goddamn same-ish. Was this a whole album? Or just one track over and over? Who knows?!

i am just vibing and doing my work ok! pretty cool!

I've never fully listened to a reggae album before, and if not for this challenge I probably never would have. But this album was actually pretty decent. Probably not something I'd listen to again but it was cool to experience

It's a good roots reggae album. I liked the title track and the rest of it kind of flew by me in the background. Not really my type of music but it's nice enough. 3/5

solid reggae vibes

Older roots reggae like this is really meditative. I forget that a lot since I gravitate to modern reggae.

I have never enjoyed reggae music as a style. But I respect the protest and social activism involved. Having said that, this record is fine. Nothing in here sticks out to me, but I am not an expert in this style.

Nice bit of reggae 👌

Reggae record. A good reggae record I would say but it's so hard for me to quantify that "goodness" in this genre compared to others, it just gets too similar to my ears. What I can appreciate is the lyrics however much I am surely lacking in the historical and cultural department for full understanding of them.

Pretty good reggae

I am a fan of this era of reggae music, but overall this Burning Spear record didn't really grab me. I thought both Marcus Garvey tracks (title and "old") were great as well as "Live Good". Solid vocals I've come to expect from Burning Spear, with meaningful messages, just want more oomph from my reggae whereas this felt more like chill background music.

seems like quality reggae

Fun groove to have on in the background. Felt kinda strange listening to tropical music on a grey, rainy mtn day

Sounds like Bob Marley

Naming an album after Marcus Garvey is wild Such a Lyle album

good reggae album but it’s reggae so

Pretty good funk

Still think that reggae is mainly vibe music rather than individual tracks that you can listen to and dissect – just let the album play through. This stuck to me a little more than any Marley stuff.

I liked this album a lot. Not a huge fan of reggae so I doubt I’ll be listening to it often but I enjoyed it while I was.

Sure is reggae

If reggae is on in the background, then....fine. But that's about as much as I can say for the genre. An easy listen, but nothing to get excited about.

Maybe it's the American cut that was smoothed, because the bones of Marcus Garvey are solid. I could certainly go for more aggressive versions of the instrumentals, but the quiet delivery contrasts beautifully with the lyrics. Burning Spear is a band noted.

Not something I would ever normally listen to but seemed to suit the mood perfectly this laidback Friday morning.

I actually quite enjoyed this album, I thought it was very interesting and something I wouldn’t usually like.

I like it

I'd heard of Burning Spear but did not know the band, album or any of the songs. All the signature sounds of classic 70s/80s reggae which include sparse laid-back grooves, with thoughtful arrangements - bass, clipped guitar, drums, percussions and occasional slightly Cuban sounding brass and piano. Plaintive vocal. Lyrically each song tends to hang on a single theme mainly around Jamaican history/politics. I like the textures, not a genre I would go to very often, but this is a good one to go to.

Overall satisfying. Some of the songs were stuck in my head for hours.

Reggae! I'm gonna be honest, i haven't really listened to the genre before. I knew it from Bob Marley, like most other people. I was surprised to see there are more artists than him :) It was a good album. Nothing special, but comfy as hell.

This 1001, has made it great to learn about other countries music and politics.

Throwing some fire 🔥

Overall an interesting reggae album. I'm not going to lie; it made me sleepy. Good songs, and it has a laid-back groove to it. It's not that I actively have any concerns, complaints, or annoyances about this album, but more that I have an issue with sameness on this record. The tracks generally are pleasant but they do have a certain quality of sameness to them. But it's a nice record even if I wouldn't revisit. It was worth a listen. Fave tracks: "Tradition" and "Jordan River".

Melhores músicas: Marcus Garvey e Slavery Days

Who doesn't like Reggae? Such easy background music.

*** Goede achtergrond en context

Solid 70s reggae stuff. I remember the accompanying dub album being good, too.

Roots reggae. Reggae as a socio-political movement. Reggae made by an actual Jamaican. It's actually nice and chill. Reggae at their purest possible way without losing commercial potential. I love the vocal sounds and the instruments. But in it's thirty minute journey, it tends to get monotonous. The beats are similar and the formula of the tracks are the same. Still, an interesting reggae album. Perhaps among the few reggae ones that I listened to, this is my favourite.

Can't pretend to know how this fits into the history of reggae, but it seems decent to me. It's clearly got something to say, though personally it mainly evokes BBQs on hot summer days...

It was alright. Liked the reggae but nothing jumped out. 7/10

Listened twice. Would listen again.

This album falls within the category of understanding why it’s important as an artifact but not loving it from a personal taste perspective. And I really like reggae, and enjoy bits of this, but not a favorite.

Didn't strike me as exceptional, but was enjoyable

Reggae sin más. Buenas canciones, pero no destaca especialmente. Muy del estilo. Como compositor, no lo conocía en absoluto

Chill and relaxing

more chilling than burning

I’ve never really listened to reggae, but this wasn’t too bad.

Decent album. I like the political aspect of this album, and the songs are quite catchy and less generic than some reggae music. 6/10

pretty chill vibes while listening! Pleasant to listen to overall, but nothing really stood out to me on first listen.

Generally, I'm not a big fan of reggae, sometimes there's too much repetition for my liking, but this album is so old school and straight up reggae, I like it a lot. Easy to groove to, a very pleasurable laid-back listen.

hipster Bob Marley laments the destruction and suffering of his home and people

Not heard this before, and really like the reggae flute element!

Enjoyable roots reggae. Would have liked to have heard the original mix but a cursory search didn't find it. Biggest surprise for me from the Wiki page was the Burning Spear is a man rather than a group.

This was good but joy a genre I’d listen to often

Outside my usual sphere but pretty good

Great album

the odd perfectly placed reggae song is great, a whole album is a bit much

Great vocals and production. It felt like a proper album as well - just the right number of tracks without any filler. Soulful in places as well. The title track is a fantastic call to arms.

I have not listened to much reggae beyond Bob Marley. I quite liked this album, and would more than likely listen to more from Burning Spear

Reggae, Quitos good, somewhat naive lyrics

Good Reggae, but not sure what sets it apart from other good reggae albums. No real standout song.

Felt like fine reggae. Wasn't listening to the words much?

I think I would like this album more if I was more familiar with reggae, but I appreciate the skillful instrumentation, even if the grooves can feel repetitive. I also admire the poignant lyricism. BEST TRACKS: Marcus Garvey, Slavery Days, The Invasion, Give Me, Tradition WORST TRACKS: N/A

Solid reggae. A lot of it blends together into one long jam sesh but that’s a-okay by me. Favorite Tracks: “Marcus Garvey”, “Live Good”, “Old Marcus Garvey”, “Tradition”

it was reggae

Reggae, ok but it got old fast

Schoolhouse Rock guy, lol. I think this is actually the kind of reggae that appeals to me. It blends into the background effortlessly, is incredibly consistent in rhythm, and is (above all) brief. 34 minutes was not a minute too long. I'd put this on again, even if I don't recall many specifics aside from the fact there was a song about slavery and one about pollution. But hey, if you gotta pick two social issues to sing about you could do a lot worse than those two, CRAIG.

Was banging in parts but a bit repetitive. Was good to have on in the background.

19th November 2021 Started listening on the way to meeting Sav and Sally in Battersea Park having not been able to listen on the Friday. Finished Monday morning. Historical, cultural and sadly more timely now than ever. Powerful and groovy in one.

Good reggae albu I had never heard in the past. Will add to a playlist when in the mood.

I enjoyed them

I'm vexed. This is a thought-provoking album that examines interesting political themes. At the same time, it is a reggae album and maybe it's being a NZer, but this kind of roots reggae is easy to consider as background music for a lazy weekend barbecue. As a result, while the album took me along on its musical journey, there were times when I forgot it was even happening at all. The album ended, Spotify's algorithm gave me a few reggae tracks by other artists and I didn't even notice for a while.

groovy

Not my type of music

Nice reggae beat but the tracks start to get repetitive after a while.

nice reggae

Best prettig.

Variadito cortito.

Está cotorro.

Si me gustó, esperaba enfadarme peto aguantó

My second straight reggae album and neither was a Marley disc. I wasn't much of a raga fan, but this is definitely worth the listen and I will revisit again.

Not my jam

Felt like pretty generic reggae to me. Could see putting it on in for some background music.

It's good but not my kind of music.

Not a huge fan of reggae but it was a decent album.

A pretty good reggae album

Reggae again, enjoyable again but I’ll stick with Marley as it’s not my keenest genre. Some cracking tunes on this though, the lyrics are heavy but the music is light. It’s really cool.

Not really a big reggae fan, but I can dig it. Probably wouldn't normally listen to this, but I can imagine enjoying it in the right circumstances. (2.7)

Roots good

Not bad

Raggae album. Easy listen, but not my favourite genre

Nothing else quite gripped me as much as the opening number and album title track but I still enjoyed the rest of the album. The lyrics don't mess about. Very frank.

Reggae. Cool.

Decent, no real standout tracks, but overall, an enjoyable listen. Opening song "Marcus Garvey" probably the best. Solid 3.

Nice chill reggae bops.

Decent reggae, didn't blow me away. Solid vibes

I looked up old-school reggae in the dictionary and it was this album

I guess, for as much as I’m into reggae, this is nice. Perfectly listenable. Agreed. Not as loveable as Bob, but easy listening for background music .

Listenable reggae with a message even if tampered with by Island Records for international ears.

Good vibe

enjoyable as someone who likes reggae, but it sounds like a lot of the reggae from the period. felt somewhat forgettable after marcus garvey and slavery days

Reggae. Roots reggae. Reggae. Best Tracks: Marcus Garvey, The Invasion, Tradition

Good reggae. I like the horns.

Liked it!

Not bad! Not really my style so hard for me to judge

Pleasant enough to listen to, but probably wouldn't bother with it a second time.

A very political album. I remember the title track well. It got a lot of play at CKCU back in the day and forced me to find out who Marcus Garvey was (not so easy before wikipedia). I find the production kinda muddy, even for the seventies, but it was better the second time round with the volume and sub-woofer turned UP.

I'm a huge fan of reggae! I'm not afraid to say that I am openly reggae but don't ask me what type of bass I prefer (I might be more of a rude boy). This wasn't my most favorite reggae but I can't complain when there are so many worse albums I've listened to on this list. Only Red, Gold and Green stood out to me, but I enjoyed listening all the way through on this and hope more reggae finds its way onto this list. Very cool album cover as well, there was a Marcus Garvey center at UNC that we had to patrol the lot of so theres some good memories around that, on top of everything Marcus did as a person.

Honestly pretty good considering I’m not a big reggae fan. The songs kinda blend together annoyingly and his accent isn’t my favorite but I can tell the album is about important stuff and it’s short enough so as to not get boring. This also prompted me to look up Marcus Garvey, who was a very odd person.

Roots Reggae and Dub are my favourite types of Reggae as you can really settle into the hypnotic groove. This record starts off great with Marcus Garvey but it after that it gets a bit preachy and one note sounding.

It's an album of reggae, which is perfectly fine.

Loved the vibe

Not terrible, a good change up

Enjoyable listen. My reggae knowledge is not discerning enough to dig too deep into this or pick up on the subtleties between tracks. But this album is relaxing and unobtrusive to have on in the background on a Tuesday.

Perhaps I didn't give this one enough of my attention but it didn't massively stand out. A few on there were really cool, but the rest just sort of blurred into one

Interesting.

i enjoyed this

Good reggae vibes.

Some of the best in reggae

Reggae. Not my jam.

It's Reggae. It's fine.

Chilled, beautiful album. Short (33 mins) but good, would listen again.

Good calm feel, but not compelling to me.

p decent reggae - C

This album was good, but I lost interest pretty early. There were interesting sounds, but they were fairly repetitive.

Background protest music

Good Reggae but Reggae is not my thing

Good solid reggae

Not a huge reggae fan. I like it as background but don't know enough to know what's good and what isn't. Either way this was A okay.

This was ok, can never differentiate good from bad Reggae but it's enjoyable to listen to. Also read Marcus Garvey's wikipedia while listening and learnt a fair bit. Interesting guy with some controversial views

average reggae album.

Pretty great reggae album, but as previously stated, it's not really my jam unless I'm in the right setting. Would listen again, but wouldn't seek it out. 3 stars.

Not a bad album, it sounds good. But reggae is not my genre 100% so it doesn't appeal that much to me but can still appreciate it

Solid album 7,3/10

Not my style

Quite forgettable with a mediocre singer. I think unfortunately reggae is starting to miss more often than it’s hit.

not bad but not for me

Rating: 2.5/5 Playlist track: Marcus Garvey Date listened: 13/06/26 Listen when: Afternoon/ evening bbq in the sun I thought I disliked reggae then I listened to Bob Marley's Exodus and felt converted because it was way more dynamic and different sounding from song to song than I thought. However this album disappointed me off of that but that's not the album's fault necessarily, it's mine for thinking I like reggae now.

Not my tempo

I’m vacationing at a beach right now, so if there was ever a time for a reggae breakthrough, this is it. Unfortunately, this is another in the series of almost objectively good albums in a genre that I just don’t like.

Just sounds like reggae to me.

Not bad, but nothing I'm going to rush to listen to again.

Bob Marley no2 ? Nice but repetitive and not so much my music

Just not very engaging. Not a fan of his vocals.

196 / 1089. Marcus Garvey was a charlatan and a demagogue who allied with the Klan and personally thrived on Jim Crow. He thought he was "President of Africa," despite never visiting the continent. And on top of that, Marcus Garvey most likely would have hated the Rastafari and their proclivities for the smoke. Reggae is such a mess of a genre - conceptually and musically - for me. I appreciate the grooves and most of the messaging, but I'm usually feeling the exact opposite way than what was intended. A 7/10 album based on sound, but dropped to a 5/10 based on the album's elevation of a divisive historical figure.

The same song, over and over.... 2/5

Average, dont get the hype

For a genre I have hardly any experience in, this sure did feel generic. Well, maybe generic is the wrong word but it didn't captivate me as much as I would expect from a genre that does interest me as much as reggae, considering how little I actually know about it. I liked a lot of the lyrical themes on the album, but sonically I really just didn't find it all that interesting.

Poor man's Bob Marley it seems

I really hate reggae

Okay but it's not really my thing.

Reggae isn't my thing but it was upbeat and nice.

Not a fan

Reggae. Not terrible but every song sounded the exact same. I had to check once or twice just to make sure it hadn’t got stuck on repeat.

Groovy and well-meaning, but gotta be honest, i’m not a massive reggae guy so i can’t glaze it too hard, it’s solid though. No real standouts for me as it was balanced across the board.

A little goes a long way with reggae. This is better than some of the others I’ve heard. Still not for me though.

Some great protest songs on here but this isn't really my preferred genre. Feels like something I'd want to listen to relaxing on a beach somewhere, but, the lyrics are a bit heavy for that.

Nothing noteworthy here

Bijedni repetativni reggae beatovi. 2/5, 3/10

I guess I like my reggae a little more upbeat. Maybe I should give this one a try on a different day.

I get it, but it's not for me.

Not into reggae much oops

First reggae album of the project for me, and with that the first entire reggae album I've listened to. Ended up giving it a second listen with lyrics up to help give me some more context and got a lot more understanding of the message. When I've heard reggae in the past I really haven't gotten too deep into the the lyrics and it's always just come off as easy listening. That's largely still the case to me but it's good to be aware that the subject can be serious too. With that said, the music itself is enjoyable but not memorable to me personally. I do look forward to exploring a bit more in the genre going forward.

Sorry didn’t listen, apart from a few seconds and it wasn’t my thing.

Could be the hardest album cover so far

It sounded good 2

This is decent. I enjoy the music more so than the singing and lyrical content, Not because I am against the subject matter but because it is so limited that it becomes repetitive.

Not a fan 2

pleasing reggae sound but songs were just too similar for me

I had a hard time getting into this album. I will revisit it and see if it was just a busy week, but everything sounded the same.

This was enjoyable enough, but reggae is a genre that all starts to blend together for me after a couple songs.

It's ok. Not a huge reggae fan but has a place and good to come across every so often.

The same song over and over ag5

A lot of skippable songs.. not for me

Ja-makin me crazy!!!

Not for me, but fine for what it is

amazon did not have this particular album so i just listened to greatest hits. just don't love reggae

Sounds nice for a moment but it gets repetitive and stale without anything else to offer

Simply not my kind of music. But it sounds like he knows what he's doing.

OK. 2/5

Not my vibe. 2 stars, not bad but won’t listen again

Reggae. At least this wasn't all "we wanna smoke more pot and not get in trouble for it". But you had to really pay attention to get that. This isn't an album that you can listen to idly. It's good, but if you listen idly, it'll just sound like every other reggae album with the bouncy beat and the weak chord progression. My rating: 2/5 chain links

It seems to me that being really repetitive only works if your sound is in any way interesting.

Zuhause, Gerstetten, Deutschland. Kann dem nicht viel abgewinnen.

Some aight reggae sound stuff

Tough to rate since I don’t typically listen to reggae. I enjoy the music. Mellow and relaxing however is all blends together for me. Nothing sets it apart.

Nothing here that compelled me. Most reggae is totally interchangeable for me.

Reggae is not really my thing. May have been a good reggae album for those who like it.

Reggae album with very pure, genre-specific sound. Interesting milestsone for roots reggae. For my personal taste, it's not suitable.

The first track was good, something that reels you in and makes you know what to expect from the rest. Except for that I didn’t feel the intensity really stayed throughout, or the groove, and I think that reggae needs to have that grooviness or catchy riff to really engage. Sort of tailed off into another nothing album that flies by whilst you’re on the tube without even really having acknowledged you’ve managed to listen to the whole thing.

Ok reggae

It's nice, I guess. But nothing that will stick with me. Reggae that sounds like all other reggae I know.

Not made for me. And that is OK.

Pleasing sound, great voice but I'm just not a reggae fan.

Old Marcus Garvey

Overall, not a very exciting album, but it's chill just leaving it in the background. Sometimes it has a little big of a reggae vibe to it and it's overall pretty alright.

Something Tony would love! Laid back reggae, which all sounds the same. Although the lyrics felt very politically charged.

Just ok, not much here. I miss the poetry of reggae...

I didn't get this one, its charm was lost on me. At best pleasant and bland, at worst tedious and repetitive. Its a half hour record which felt like an hour. I suppose that its important social and political points, which are simply and strongly stated, are what make it such a powerful listen for others.

It's just reggae innit. Not really my cup of tea, all sounds the same. But not unpleasant

Reggae with politically charged themes. Not unlistenable but it’s dull and not particularly interesting for me.
