Reggí sem er allt eins? Kannski er djúpur texti þarna á bak við sem ég skil ekki en það verður þá bara að hafa það 🤔
Heard the first song I was really enjoying and turned out it had started playing suggested artists. Woops!
Pas mon style
Had a few good hooks but otherwise forgettable.
I can see and appreciate this other side of the 70s reggae scene. It's ok. Doesn't really speak to me. To me, middling and forgettable.
A run of the mill reggae record. Nothing too special, but I did like a couple of tracks. Reggae is fairly repetitive, but that doesn’t mean the grooves aren’t enjoyable.
Downbeat and soulful. The artists really FEEL the music, but it doesn't transfer to me. This doesn't inspire me to nod, bob, or shake any part of my body, and it doesn't intellectually hold my interest.
Not my cup of tea. It's a short album too, so I didn't notice I reached the end of the album.
First time listening to a reggae album. Easy, lilting music belies harsh message about slavery, oppression and a longing for Africa. Sparse, repetitive lyrics made most songs like chants.
I enjoyed the reggae vibe - different to a lot of albums on here. Burning spear are clearly influencial with the world of reggae how ever I am not a reggae head. The songs were a liberals wet dream in singing along. I enjoyed the beats for a few songs - but found it tricky to do a whole album
My thoughts on this album are similar to Connected by the Stereo MCs. It was easy to listen to in the background. The simple lyrics and repetive nature made it difficult for me to want to keep my attention. I appreciated the sentiment behind many of the songs because I have a deep admiration for people using this art to convey a message that it’s important to them. This album is an interesting window to history, but musically, it’s not for me.
Do You Remember The Days Of Slavery? 1001 Albums Generator 96 (08/14/2025) Marcus Garvey is the third album by roots reggae artist Burning Spear, released in 1975. According to famous music reviewer Robert Christgau, it was the most African sounding and political album to be released in America at the time. I have not heard of Burning Spear before, but I do not claim to be knowledgeable about reggae. When I first saw the cover, I assumed that it was an album called Burning Spear by a guy named Marcus Garvey, but no. Reggae is a big musical blindspot for me that I often am not the biggest fan of, but I love exploring things outside my comfort zone on this list. The first two songs are great. The opening song, which is the title track, named after Rastafarian prophet Marcus Garvey, is one of the most upbeat on the album. I love the inclusion of organs in the texture. The second song, Slavery Days, is much more fun than its title and lyrical contents would imply. Musically, this is probably my favorite. Jordan River is also a really good one, and almost has a Latin sounding flair in the intro that is really interesting. However, to be completely transparent, reggae is just not for me. I can appreciate what Burning Spear are doing, and I have no doubt that they are doing it very well (and making scathing cultural/political commentary to boot), but I just have a hard time with the genre in general. I just find it kind of boring compositionally. I love all the different layers; guitar, steel drum, horns, bass, and (often group) vocals are a great combination of sounds. However, none of the actual songwriting really does it for me, even on the songs that I like more. This makes the album a bit difficult for me to enjoy. Marcus Garvey is a good reggae album, but personal bias and enjoyment are all I judge these albums on, and by that metric, I can't give it above a 2/5. Favs: Marcus Garvey Slavery Days Jordan River Least Fav: Live Good
Don't want to be overly critical here, but just not interested in listening to Reggae.
This is a good album. I’m not a reggae guy. I can listen to it. It’s great background music. But it does not have the same impact on me musically that punk and metal do. Also politically charged music. The emotion does not come across the same way. This album is really good even though it’s not for me.
The album was boring. There was too much bass and it knocked by subwoofer off my table. Maybe I should adjust my settingd.
First time hearing it, will be the last time intentionally listening to it. Not that it was necessarily bad it’s just not at all what I like to listen to.
this was fine but i also have no desire to listen to another reggae album any time soon would be a total banger of a listen with a mai tai though
Oldschool reggae, lidt for baggrundsagtigt, men fine nok vibez
★★½
10cc were half right. I don’t like reggae, because reggae is shit.
this is fine i guess but reggae just isnt for me, man
Kinda forgettable. 2/5
Meh. Not bad, but reggae gets pretty tiresome fairly quickly - two chords on the off beat over and over ad naseum.
-Live Good -Give Me -Tradition -Jordan river

Reggae is not really a favorite genre of mine. By the time the third song comes around I'm ready to move on. It is too repetitive and the songs all start sounding the same. I guess this was OK. 2.5/5
Forgot I listened to this. Enjoyed it i guess, Marcus Garvey was a fraud tho
fine Album but very repetetive soundwise instrumentally
I’m not a huge reggae fan, but I appreciate the artistry. I was struck by how horn heavy many of these songs are. I liked that very much.
picks: marcus garvey, slavery days
not my favorite but nevertheless glad i listened!
Reggae is great but what makes it a genre is also limiting, which leads to a lot of bad/boring reggae. For me, this falls into that category. Some of the best reggae is raw, funky and soulful (Toots) and then there's Marley who does that and also writes great songs. This album lacks creativity in song writing and boring instrumentation. Interesting reading about Marcus Garvey though.
I'm not really a reggae guy - more of a me problem. Also didn't give this as close of a listen as it might deserve. Someone else tell me if I'm missing something!
Of all the Reggae albums ever recorded, this sounds like most of them.
3 minutes of raggae is fun. 30 minutes of it is rough.
Sounds like reggae to me. A couple of more interesting songs after the mid-way point, but overall this was just an OK listening experience.
Ok reggae. Felt much longer than it really was. 2.5/5
I just don't like reggae
No dynamice changes, the same two chord progression over an over again appears to make up Reagge. Not for me. Mabey okay as background music in some venue.
Just some regular reggae, but I like how I hear some flutes in a song or two, to add variation. 2.5
More Reggae from the list...I like this genre but it is all the same. Give me Marely or some newer stuff with some hip-hop or electronica influence over the old classics. A lot of political/social injustice during this era (and prior) for Jamaicans and that is the main subject matter on "Marcus Garvey." Rodney teams up with some Wailers and let's his voice be heard. The back-up music is good, standard reggae so it's not that I can't vibe but I wasn't gripped either. This is not your go to album while blending up some frozen cocktail by the beach. I guess it has its place later in the evening when you are winding down on that same very beach and it's fire-talk time. For the ride in to work though...1.65.
Listen man, I appreciate that reggae is an important genre for Jamaica, but I’m so bored listening to this.
Some of the horns also sounded a bit... "canned" to me. It was very... samey. It's a problem with reggae. The songs (for me, at least) have very similar tempos, so they start to sound pretty much all the same. There's not a lot of variety, so after a while, I get bored with it. Marley does a great job with this, and varies up stuff a lot. But Burning Spear? Not so much. NEXT.
Good, fun reggae so far.
I couldn’t understand hardly anything he said. Not for me
I like reggae… I just thought this one was lackluster. OK for background music.
can't get into reggae at all.
I'm not huge on reggae. At all. This was okay. High 2s
Like most reggae, it's fine but mostly just boring
Well performed, recorded, and engineered reggae/dub but by the time I reached the halfway mark of the album the song arrangements were so similar that the album began to sound monotonous and repetitive. No favorites.
Not sure if I listened to the label produced version or the OG of this one. Either way I was less than into this. Felt very bland and the groove just wasn’t there.
4/10 reggae is not my thing. I don't hate it, just can't get into it. 1-21-2025
Borrrrring ... I was hopeful that I could make it through such a short album. I think my interest faded by the time I hit Live Good. I've got such a low tolerance for reggae ... it makes me feel like I'm getting stoned and skipping class. Dude, wake up, life is for living!
As reggae goes, it’s fine? Nothing seems to rise to anywhere near Marley-level, which is probably an unfair standard to be compared against? I’m more interested in the Marcus Garvey aspect of things. I knew the general outline of the Marcus Garvey story, but this album gave me a nice provocation to learn more. A pan-Africanist, Back-to-Africa supporter who never actually traveled to Africa? A black nationalist meeting with the KKK to discuss their shared belief in segregation? The self-described “first fascist?” Garvey gets a lot of credit for engendering self-respect, pride, and self-reliance, and building a movement of black nationalism. But it’s kind of wild that there are many who revere him to this day in his native Jamaica and beyond. He was racist and anti-Semitic, seemed to have a romanticized and mistaken impression of what Africa was actually like, and possessed many character flaws that alienated him from other African American leadership. But to Burning Spear, Garvey was a prophet, and thus he laments Garvey fading into obscurity. Perhaps Garvey is best remembered not as a prophet but solely as a cautionary tale about ignorance, intolerance, and hubris.
Pleasant for a couple minutes but I’m not stoned on a Caribbean island, so I’m out on this album and reggae in general.
#464. I mean, it's reggae, it's all basically the same, and not very good. 2/5: meh
Eh. Reggae is fine. This particular reggae wasn’t jiving with me.
04/01/24 Reggae isn't for me and this was just boring.
Standard reggae with a heavier focus on liberation lyrics. I thought it was a fine, easy listen like all reggae is. But nothing about this album connected with me in a deeper way, so it felt more forgettable than I would have hoped
It's reggae and I'm not really a fan of reggae. This didn't do anything to change my opinion of it. It's fine, the first track was even good. But the longer the album went on the more I thought it dragged. I think this is more an effect that I'm not too big of a fan of the genre than anything else. Still "Marcus Garvey" was a bop. Strong 2.
Groovy [2]
It's pleasant enough. I like the brass, and I like the little whistle / woodwind thing they're peppering in there. However, all reggae is the fucking same! It's the exact same beat on every song. It is so, so limited as a genre that I can't get excited about it. 2.5 rounded down.
Ok, but not my style
Reggae is shite
A little too slow for me, not bad but just not my thing
Can't say I'm a huge reggae fan. It was fine I guess
1. marcuz - 1.5 2. zlavery - 1.5 3. invazion - 1.5 4. good - 1.5 5. give me - 1 6. garvey - 1.5 7. tradition - 1.5 8. jordan - 1.5 9. green - 2 10. rezting - 2
Not my thing but sounds like a decent reggae record
I know this album is supposed to be important in reggae history, but I just couldn’t get into it. The songs all blend together, and the vocals started to grate on me pretty quickly. There’s not much here that stands out, and it honestly felt like a chore to get through the whole thing.
I appreciated the cool reggae drums and bass, but the songs were very one-note for me and it took a lot to get through them all. Just not the right flavor for me, I guess. Two stars.
This is how I felt as well, once was enough for me : “ I appreciated the cool reggae drums and bass, but the songs were very one-note for me and it took a lot to get through them all. Just not the right flavor for me, I guess. ”
1975 es el año de discos como: Down by the Jetty de Dr. Feelgood, debut de AC/DC, Physical Graffiti de Led Zeppelin, Wish you were here de Pink Floyd, That's the Way of the World de Earth, Wind and Fire, Young Americans de D. Bowie, Dressed to Kill de kiss, Rubycon de Tangerine Dream, ABBA de ABBA, Diamonds & Rust de Joan Baez, Zuma y Tonight's the Night de Neil Young, Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy de Elton John, Main Coruse de Bee Gees, KC and the Sunshine Band de KC and the Sunshine Band, Born to run de B. Springsteen, Love to Love You Baby de Donna Summer, Another Green World de Brian Eno, Ommadawn de Mike Oldfield, Radio-Activity de Kraftwerk, Horses de Patti Smith, A Night at the Opera de Queen, Crisis? What Crisis? de Supertramp, el directo de Bob Marley...
There's a lot to unpack here, and I'm not the person to do that. I found myself moving to the music, but the politics of Marcus Garvey and rastafari in general is really off putting in a lot of their stances.
Pretty lame. Reggae is not really my thing and this was not IMO a good example
2.5
It’s ok. But the entire album sounds the same. Got tired of it.
Not unpleasant but not to my liking.
rasta "heaven"? 2 stars maybe.
Probably to my detriment and loss I do not have a lot of reggae in my collection. Run of the mill popular albums yes but none of the deeper stuff I always promised myself to investigate. Will probably never get around to it now so signpost’s like this are a welcome advantage of this list. That said, whilst time spent listening to this album was pleasant enough I found nothing in it to convince me to return to it. 2.5/3 5/9/24
Came in a similar time to two Bob Marley albums, enjoyed this less than them. Some interest things going on lyrically that make it more interesting than the instrumentation though. 2.5
Not feeling it, album was below average at best
Its reggae and very political reggae at that, but a) I don't really care for the genre and b) I don't have the cultural context to understand the album. It sounds fine but I suspect it was put on this list due to the deeper meaning and I can't connect with that.
Raggae not really my thing, but it was okay.
Eh. This got old quickly.
I just can’t get into reggae. I’ll be happy when I don’t need to try anymore.
Reggae. Bastante rollo y monótono. Un 2.
Masso
I have to be in real mood for reggae. I've heard a lot of it when I was younger and it kinda scared me. Gets boring really quick. Wasn't different with this one. 2.5/5.
Ok reggae album, nothing blew my mind. 2*
Wasn't ready for reggae, I feel like there have been quite a few recently. It's good, but for me each song sounded similar and blended into the next.
reggae not so moving
I've never heard of Burning Spear before, but I've enjoyed getting to become more acquainted with reggae music through this list, so I was excited to give this a listen. This album was pretty ho-hum in my opinion, especially compared to the other reggae albums I've listened to on this list. By 'other reggae albums,' I mean 'the three Bob Marley albums,' but whatever. My favorite thing about reggae music is the radical lyrics, and this album started off really strong lyrically. I loved that the first few songs had a tone that was more reflective, and asked the listener to not forget the tragedies and racial traumas of the past. I thought it was a really effective way to start off the album. After those first few songs though, the I felt like the album lost its way lyrically, as it just didn't feel as powerful in its call to action. Musically, I thought this album wasn't nearly as good as its peers. One of the elements that I like the most in reggae music is the use of the clavinet, but I didn't think the clavinet usage on this album was that good. There was some nice flute playing on one of the songs (I'm too lazy to and figure out which one it was), but that was really the only thing that stood out to me musically. I didn't really enjoy this album much, and it was kind of a let down, especially for my 400th album.
The production is super crisp and a standout facet that I really enjoyed, but I'm so seldom blown away by a reggae album and this continues that. This is just my opinion, but if you think of music genres like "rock music uses around 10 different colors to paint rock pictures", or "blues music uses around 6 colors to paint blues pictures", I think of reggae as only using like 2 or 3 colors of paint. The things that define the sound of the genre end up limiting it too much. There's rarely any experimentation, or stretching or pushing of boundaries. If I read a description of an album here and it starts with "XYZ is the third album by reggae artist...", then that's it, I know what the sound will sound like, I know the slowest the songs will get, I know the fastest the songs will get, I know the chord variations that will be used, I have a good idea about the lyrical content. To me, that prediction and expectation just makes for kind of a bland experience. I'd be stupid to not admit that this could just be from me not hearing the right stuff. I mean, a band like Bad Brains exists, that combines early hardcore and reggae. That's sick! I'm not trying to be such a hater, but I want to be wowed. My quest will continue. In the meantime this is a 2 for me.
Musically I feel like this could have used a little more flavor, but I can dig listening to a record with something to say + being exposed to a genre that's admittedly a total blind spot to me.
Wasn't my cup of tea, but led me to learning who Marcus Garvey was and what an interesting guy.
Nice chill background music for working but wasn’t a huge standout for me
Was fine. Made me want to just listen to Marley though
Fun reggae album! I liked the drums and beats
Liked it but wouldn’t be able to differentiate it from any other decent reggae album. Probably would change if i was more familiar with reggae than just putting it on for vibes.
Not for me
very laid back and somewhat mournful while also being chock-full of social commentary. Definitely hear the Marley influence (obvs) but feel like it's a little more mournful than the positivity you hear in a lot of other reggae.
It’s reggae, so if you’re into that I’m sure you know who this is. Not something I’d usually listen to but a nice change of pace. 2.3
There's a sort of foreign folk quality to this music, but much the same way that Europeans don't really understand American folk music, I don't really understand this music. A lot of it sounds really repetitive to me. I like a lot of the instrumentation, he's got an alright voice, but it just sort of drones on and on for me. Certainly don't hate, but other than the politics of it I don't have a lot to praise about it. I'm glad this was only 30 minutes, I don't think I could do much more than that.
Reggae. Bastante rollo y monótono. Un 2.
Reggae is such a genre that never clicked for me. The previous reggae album on this list was not bad though and gave me high hopes for this one. It's just plain boring though.
better than most reggae, but personally the genre never clicked with me. I can appreciate what it does and it's message but I have no desire to ever listen to any of these songs again
Not my style of music but can’t deny that there were some funky beats.
Started out thinking I might like this album but then just got bored
Listened Before? N I didn't know I "needed to hear" so many reggae albums. I actually don't. They're all very samey in sound and message. This one is okay, just like the rest. Maybe I'm not high enough. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Marcus Garvey
Fine album good music, reggae is not for me
This wasn't my style of music.
I listened to this on a grey, lonely day in January. It felt weary and political. It was nice to contemplate; I don’t think I shall revisit it.
Not bad, but not for me :(
Not an album I would necessarily choose to listen to and certainly not a favourite genre but it was alright. 2-3*
I admit reggae is not my forte, but I found this album particularly uninspiring and repetitive.
Perfectly adequate. Somewhat lost on me.
I’m not that into reggae and this album didn’t really impress
I don't feel qualified to have an opinion of reggae music. I am simply too white for this, I'm sorry. Album cover is sick as fuck though. I honestly thought this would be Hardcore Punk based on it.
I thought it was alright.
Hey maan, remember that bad thing maan? Yeah man, preach. 2/5
Rating: 2.5
I swear this is the rote type of reggae funk I hear during every concert setbreak/pre-show. As someone who can't really focus on lyrics, this is fairly monotonous.
A pretty average reggae album by Burning Spear. I can appreciate there is a lot of meaning that was "diluted" as a remix of the album for a western audience. I imagine that the original release was more reggae heavy so it may have 'felt' more real. Still not really something I'd go out of my way to listen to. Best: Marcus Garvey Worst: Resting Place
Reggae is niet mijn genre.
Sorry barely registered I had it on
alla the songs sounded the same i didn't even finished listening to this album
Kuulostaa hyvältä (kuten reggae melkein aina), mutta biisit tuntuvat toissijaisilta yleiseen musiikilliseen ja ulkomusiikilliseen ilmeeseen nähden. Se ei tyydytä minua.
Reggae sound that's not really for me.
Þetta greip mig ekkert sérstaklega.
nice and chill. not into it right now though.
Not a big reggae fan.
Meh, just your typical reggae
it was alright
I like reggae, but didn't particularly care for this. Not entirely sure why, but the fact that the lyrics were often incomprehensible was probably a big part of it.
Didn't find this nearly as interesting as I though I would
One reggae album is as good as the next
Not bad but reggae is really not my favorite
Favorite Song: n/a So, turns out I don’t enjoy reggae. I could only get through two songs.
Interesante. Me ha gustado "Give me".
reggae isn’t bad at a very specific time and place, usually at the beach. it is not very good sitting in a college dorm doing linear algebra work
Reggae is m’n minst favoriete genre sorry
I continue to dislike reggae and I don't know why. This is definitely more reggae.
One or two decent choons on here, but it’s no Exodus
Good music but just a little bland
I am not a fan of reggae and this is not very good reggae either. It is pretty much the same melody througout, with the obligatory rhythms, and unintelligable vocals. It can not hold a candle to Peter Tosh, for example.
Ok, not my style
Long-time listener, first-time reviewer. I thought I liked reggae, but this album made me realize I like it in small doses. Most of the songs sound very similar but maybe that’s just reggae. The best part about it was that it prompted me to go to Wikipedia and look up the life history of Marcus Garvey, which was pretty cool. I did appreciate the reference in the title track to James 4:17 (“So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin”) and the use of Christological imagery in Tradition to make a point about racial injustice. Still, it’s not an album I would seek out, but the kind I wouldn’t mind playing at low volume in the background while visiting with friends.
I have returned! Just in time for this mediocre reggae record. Not once did this capture my attention or get my feet moving.
Boring. I don't get reggae. 2/5
I’m sorry, I hate reggae. Can’t do it. D
As I mentioned with Bob Marley's album, I'm not a fan of reggae. In case of Burning Spear I have to admit that it's much better instrumentally than Bob's songs. The flow and gentle riffs are actually pretty entertaining, and are taking you straight to the dance floor. It's also very lyrics-heavy. Very difficult stuff about slavery and oppression. In general, I do like it a bit more than I would think of, but still, it's not my favourite style, tanking the overall note.
Sometimes, it's important to remind yourself that Bob Dylans come in many shapes and forms.
More reggie - simply not interested
Shit reggae that I don't give a shit about. No references to leukaemia
This was fun, but not my fav.
Also meh
I like reggae, but this didn't feel like memorable reggae. No stand-outs for me. Best reggae experience for me is driving around an island with the windows down (preferably Block Island) and I think the album would fare well there but again - no song that got stuck in my head or made me want to sing along.
Gonna be honest, I just don't like Reggae. I'm sure it has some importance, but I just don't find it to be interesting music. This is only like album 35 for me, so I'm still trying to suss out what my criteria actually is with regards to influence vs. personal preference. If I go with the former, I'm probably giving all of the popular shit I don't like a 3 and that seems like a stupid way to rate things. Sorry, Reggae. It's just that literally every song sounds the same to me. Standouts: Slavery Days, The Invasion, Old Marcus Garvey
Perfectly pleasant to listen to, but very slow, nothing exciting going on.
Strong start but fell off
Super chill Jamaican music. This is great background music. Dude has a cool ass voice. I didn't think this was anything special by any means though. 4/10
Idk I just really don’t like reggae that much
meh
Meh.
reggae 2.5
I am really uneducated about reggae, so I have to go with my gut feeling about this. While it is relaxing and easy to listen to, it just isn't music I am really passionate for.
Well, it sounds good - I especially appreciate the lack of density; i.e. each element and instrument are clearly-defined and there is good use of space here. I'm not much of a reggae fan so I have zero quality comparison to/with other similar acts - facile review but my gut reaction is that I have trouble enjoying this because it's just too/so repetitive. 5/10 2 stars.
Reggae is tough for me, it never elevates to anything more than background music, which is my own issue. This was just the same, I realized I had the album on repeat and was probably halfway through the third cycle of listening to it when I realized. Always fine to have on in the background, but it didn't grab me in any meaningful way.
First listen ever and despite the superb production not connecting with me much at all
Started off promising, but eventually I couldn't wait for it to end.
No stand out tracks at all unfortunately
Seemed fine. Chill, man, chill. Conor - 2 Bill - 2 Shannah - 2 (2/5)
Wouldn’t turn it on, wouldn’t turn it off. The epitome of a 2.
Good album, but not that memorable for me
Af first I kinda liked this. I usually don't like reggae much but this wasn't bad. As it went I got less and less interested. At least it was pretty short. People that like the genre probably can appreciate this much more than I can.
Ok
I don't know much about reggae. I liked this less then Bob Marley but it was fine.
It was ok. Felt like a generic reggae album that wasn’t nearly as catchy. Found myself tuning it out at times just because. 3.7/10
p342. 1975. 2 stars It's well done, but nothing outstanding - it just washed over me and left no residual trace. No standout tracks. Not a fan of reggae, so won't be revisiting.
Best Song: Jordan River. I like the rolling chorus. Feels like a song that would be nice to listen to while going down a river. Worst Song: Give Me. I don't even know why. Overall: I think this is just a genre that doesn't work for me. The plodding pace, the strong reliance on repetition. This could be great reggae, but I can't overcome the trappings of the genre.
Pleasing music but when listened to all in a row, becomes a bit repetitive and one note
The first song or two I really enjoyed, elements of early ska were intertwined with the reggae that were really cool. Then it all started to sound the same. Not great to listen to as an album.
Wanted to like it, but just wanted better reggae
Some music can only be appreciated while imbibing quality reefer. In the interest of full disclosure, a Jeremy Piven played in the background while I listened to this. I don't even want to try and figure out what the title of the movie was, just know that it was Jeremy Piven with a goatee, and I seem to recall scenes of him around a pool table, and another one where he tried on a vest. You don't want images of a goateed Jeremy Piven scoring any album. Just trust me on that.
not for me but respect the genre
I can see why it's popular in Jamaica. I don't have the cultural background to appreciate the lyrics as much. Who's Marcus Garvey? The music is good enough, but there's plenty of other reggae to choose from.
If I was Jamaican this would probably be better Highlight Tracks: 2, 10
I think I know why I don't like reggae - it's one of those genres that's built on a specific sounding beat. So there's a point where it all runs together and I tune out. It all sounds very well done here, but there are no stand-outs for me like on some Marley Records.
Not my taste
Songs had little variance and singer repeated lyrics until your head hurt. Obviously reggae not my cup of tea.
I liked the parts with the horns - the whole album was a bit samey.
Live good is good Opening song a banger Uplifting music with sad lyrics
Sehr gute zwei Sterne.
It is a nice reggae album. Never heard of them before. Worth another listen. 2/5
Ist halt Reggae 2.0
Ganz okayes Roots-Zeug. Kann man machen, macht wenig mit mir.
Reggae still not for me
U can only listen to reggae for so long. 2.5
I can do like one reggae song at a time
It's fine. A little boring. Not really into reggae.
Reggae, not massively my vibe
Meeh, not really my kind of thing
meh
Forgettable Reggae music, since it was modified to be more "poppy" for international audiences. The album did try to tell a story by blending religious and cultural concerns from this "hippy" era.
Might have been some african 217-tone system but it sounded pretty off to me. Nice reggae vibe, but the execution wasn't too good imo.
Lots of reggae on this list
Ok, but unfortunately I'm not a fan of reggae.
2/5 Reggae album, chilling. Not my cup of tea
Cool reggae tunes 😎but I was overloaded by a whole album. So many of the songs seemed to start with the same percussion start.
Marcus Garvey y old Marcus Garvey
Not a fan of reggae, I suppose. Or just too laid back for my current rage.
Reggae, not bad but I don't like it too much
La misma canción una y otra vez. Es lo que tiene el reegue
Nope
Heavy Reggae, supah Jamaica Mon
Reggae music, decent but without context the songs gave me no emotional resonance.
Boring raeggae
This is good reggae. But I find it starts so strong and then slowly dies off never getting back to the level of the first song "Marcus garvey". Its not that the other tracks are inherently weak just they don't live up to the opening.
Meh. Very short
Kedelig Reggae
I didn't enjoy this, I found it quite bland. Initially I was pleased to hear some reggae had made it onto the list. It soon became clear this album wasn't my thing though. Lyrically some of the songs are interesting, with the protest themes throughout, but musically it all sounds very alike and does nothing interesting.
Ihan lepposaa, mutta ei ihmeitä tarjonnut
Ei vieläkään kyllä kokonainen levy reggaee maistunu.
I’m not a fan of reggae. I can tolerate Bob Marley, but I don’t want to listen to any other reggae artists.
Not that great. Just not my vibe.
I dont like
never heard of this reggae before. it's not bad, probably wouldn't listen to again tho
Reggae, 6 eme album =>1/5
1.25 - I just really don't like reggae music, especially the repetitive sounds. I think the content of these songs are good/important though.
When did Bob Marley 2 drop?
Paso
Could not listen
Sucks
I don't care for reggae, but for that genre this is pretty good.
It’s not bad but it’s also very repetitive. Not much catchiness or hooks. I probably won’t remember any of the songs. I’ve listened to most of the album twice now. I can’t imagine ever wanting to put this on my turntable.
oh reggae, but not vibing with the melody
All sound the same and little melody
Proper old school reggae Sadly every track sounds the same Gave up half way through
Would rather listen to chalk on a blackboard.
Felt like some pretty run of the mill reggae. It wasn't bad but it also wasn't great either. Not sure there was anything special about it in any way. Felt like something that I could play in the background of any cantina in an island nation and I wouldn't have noticed it at all. 1.26 stars
Not my favorite honestly.
Did not listen
2 things: Once I realised the artist wasn't Marcus Garvey, I felt a bit happier for some reason, i did think it was a bit arrogant writing a song about one's self in the 3rd person. The other thing was I felt the same outrage that the musicians felt when listening to this travesty of a 'more palatable' version. God knows how bad the original was, or was it better? 0 stars.
I couldn't find this particular album. Unsure which is the artist and which is the lbum title. But I listened to other stuff and its just run of the mil reggae.
not the vibe for the hottest, meltingiest day of the week. time could not move slower.
1975 reggae. Just don’t see when I’d listen to it.
Not sure I like reggae now after that
I'm usually not a Reggae person, but this one annoyed me even more than Bob Marley.
I'm gradually coming to believe that reggae is, compared to most genres I've heard from this list, not super worthwhile. It's shocking how little variety there is within and among the reggae albums I've heard. Sure, one track might sound chill and pleasant enough. But then you get 12 more indistinguishable tracks that are all chill and "pleasant enough" in the exact same way. In that way, these reggae artists are one-trick ponies. Listening to this album makes me feel like I have been on an remote island vacation for far too long and am starting to go crazy. Most tracks are repetitive with little dynamics. The musicians have few tricks up their sleeves. The guitarist will listlessly strum the same one or two chords for an entire track. Simplistic drum beat, with an occasional stereotypical reggae drum fill which just serves as a reminder of how cliche the album is. The brass sections can be a nice touch when they occur but they don't change the fact that the songwriting is flat. Very little emotional impact, since they all sound like they're just smoking pot around a bonfire on the beach. I feel like I've been sitting in a peace pipe circle for hours and somehow nobody around me is getting tired of the fact that it's just going on and on and on.
DNF. I really have no time for this. What I did hear was uninspirational reggae with tiresome lyrics.
Rule #7: No Reggae
The reggae beat gets old after a few songs as does the constant oppression style lyrics. I'm just not into this artist or his music. 1/5
So, I pretty much hate reggae and consider Bob Marley some of the most aggravating artists I ever had the misfortune to hear. There's just something about the particular brand of off-beat that instantly sets me on edge. Surprisingly, I thought the opening track really wasn't that bad. But it was downhill from there, with the majority of the rest of the songs being nearly unbearable to me. Please just let me listen to the Spotify advertisements instead.
I really didn't vibe with this album. I've listened to a little reggae before and it's not really my bag but this one just didn't hit.
Could not find the albums
Hated it
Reggae is always great for the surf and sand but not great on a grey wet day. New artist for me.
Not very remarkable I like the cover
Mm mm chaka, mm mm chaka, mm mm chaka i all oändlighet.

weak
Avorrit
No just no
Not my thing
Not for me
every song sounded the same goodbye
This is the same song 10 times. Drum roll, same rhythm (4/4 with a heavy backbeat) , monotonous ending.
Crap
I found this album rather boring. 1/5 stars.
Too much reggae and you feel like you’re on a sinking ship
Not for me.
Not for me
It's so very reggae and I'm not a fan. Nothing outstanding maybe except for lyrics which usually are "woke" either way...
No man
I get the importance to Roots Reggae but it didn't leave a massive impression on me
