3.75 more like. I liked the vibe a lot, good lyrics, nothing really stuck out to me too much but I think I could easily find something in his discography I really loved. Also I didnt actually know he actually sings like that all the time.

I’ve always admired Bob Dylan but never been fully taken in with his music, and this album doesn’t do anything differently for me. The quality of the song-writing is great and his vocal delivery is iconic, but the overall flow & tempo of the record feels quite tedious to me. This means that I simultaneously think the music is great whilst feeling quite bored listening to it. I’ll give it a 6/10 as a result.

I’m gonna rate this album with the ol compliment sandwich. Compliment: The storytelling and lyricism throughout the album is great, truly one of the greatest American folk writer. Criticism: Bob is a bad musician. I get that his voice is an acquired taste and I think it works really well on the first track, Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts, and Shelter from the Storm, but I can’t stand most of his vocals here. His guitar playing is fine but nothing special, and can’t play harmonica for shit. Compliment: Production and arranging are outstanding. If Bob stayed a producer/songwriter and left the singing to others I think he’d be far less divisive.

one of these days i'll understand why we need 5 (6?) dylan albums on this list. it's great, it's fine, it is one of many and i'm here to DISCOVER more artists.

Objectively good music but not 100% my style listened to most of the album but unfortunately not the entire thing

Classic Dylan. Not my cup of tea, but you can't discount the greats

Ok. Some good tracks, hard to listen to the whole album, it starts to sound the same.

Haven’t listened to Bob Dylan in forever, such a good listen his voice is so relaxing to listen to - I’ll give another listen for more lyric focus but such a nice first listen again

Just not finding this as special as it’s supposed to be. Tangled is good, shelter is ok, and the rest is all quite decent but not captivating me sonically. 3.1/5

Never been the hugest Dylan fan but this was good to listen to and finished strongly.

Lovely to finally have a nice bit of Bob on day 128. Three stars for this one and let’s hope there are plenty of the five and four star duplicates to come. Tom.

Great album.

Perhaps it’s my mood but I found this a bit dull. The lyrics are as ever top notch but the melodies all seemed to roll into one. Ok listened to it again, still didn’t reach me.

3 альбома Боба дилана за месяц. Я явно живу чью-то мечту. Но не свою

Listened to this during my morning commute. Very calming. Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts was crazy.

Mr. Dylan that was some solid instrumentation! Surprised me. I didnt listen closely enough to hear what the story was about. I just dont think thats an aspect of listening to albums that Ive really loved, I prefer to feel it through the music than purely listen to whats being said. 7/10

Can't say I'm a huge fan, his vocals are a bit grating. But it's not terrible in small doses

Listening while falling asleep at the bus. Bob’s voice makes me fall asleep.

I liked it more than other Dylan albums, it was louder and had feel, throughout.

Standouts Tangled Up in Blue Meet Me in the Morning

One of the better Dylan albums on the list. Still boring, but less of the annoying bits on this one. 2.5/5.0: Mixed

mostly carried by tangled up in blue but the rest of the songs werent bad

Tangled Up In Blue is easily the best song on this album, it's not particularly close. I don't mind Dylan's voice. It works for what he does. I get why people pour over his lyrics and really like his music. I get it, but this isn't something I'd probably return to on my own, outside of Tangled Up In Blue which is an all time great song.

Some greay tracks. I find a whole album of Dylan makes me nit appreciate him as much. Though

Not so good

bob dylan me mola mazo, alguna canción un poco larga y monótona pero supongo que es a lo que estoy acostumbrado a escuchar.

If this 1001 albums journey is about highlighting talented songwriters, it’s hard to be greater than Bobby D. He’s quite prolific (Bob was already on his 15th album here), so the hits are spread across a lot of albums, but thankfully this one starts out with a banger: tangled up in blue. Bob alternates between his usual jangly folk tunes to near-country, to soft pop. Though he’s never hard, he is varied in what he can present. Get acquainted with the harmonica. “Meet me in the morning” was a favorite also. Tangled up in blue feels like the blueprint for 90s alt/ adult contemporary. Your blues traveler or sister hazel types. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

oh wow so he really does sing like that

Não é ruim. Mas não tem muito como avaliar um álbum que conta uma história em cada faixa sem acompanhar a letra enquanto ouve. E não acho que uma letra boa seja obrigatória para se fazer boa música. Enfim. Preciso revisar e ver a letra pra entender se muda algo pra mim Melhor: "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" Pior: "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts"

This album probably warrants a more focused listen (though I've certainly listened before.) I give it a fine.

Good. I prefer this over his pure folk sutff.

6/10 - he has a relaxing voice, i need to listen again to really appreciate the lyrics

Bob Dylan is classic folk. Its cool hearing what The Shins, and Death Cab is derived from. It was an easy, enjoyable listen. Shelter from the Storm, and Idiot wint particularly. The recording still isn't my favorite, but I enjoy his voice. I prefer Highway 61 Revisited more. 3/5

The issues that I have with Bob Dylan are basically that i don't like his voice and I dont like the way he plays harmonica. I can handle the narrative, poetic style of his songs, going from verse to verse without a chorus, although it makes for songs that sound repetitive - Lily, Rosemary And The Jack of Hearts seems to go on forever - and some of the stories are pretty engaging, but this just isn't for me, to the point where I'm listening to the album a few times and getting increasingly irritated, mainly by his voice. So I'll quit while there are still stars on offer because, lyrically, the man weaves a great yarn. 3 stars and a question mark as to what the fuss is all about.

Best Song: Shelter from the Storm. A classic Dylan track, with a rolling, continuously developing story. Worst Song: Buckets of Rain. Too slow and directionless. The album should have ended one song sooner. Overall: This feels like totally middle-of-the-road Bob Dylan. A few classic tracks, a fair stretch of mediocre ones. This will not convince anyone to become a Dylan fan, nor would it likely be any Dylan fan's favourite album.

Post-Vietnam, pre-old age Dylan is just fine. I guess this was a “return to form” from him, but it doesn’t stand out in an era where distance muddles the “when it came out” of all of it.

*Good songwriting and some good songs, but I just don't have a love for Dylan like others do

Solid. 3.5/5. A couple of bangers.

My first assignment. Pleasant enough - didn't make me feel like I have to hear more Dylan, but didn't hate it either. Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts was the track that stood out most to me - had me bobbing my head along to the beat.

6/10 some good songs in here (shelter from the storm, lily rosemary and the jack of hearts)

At first listening to this album, I didn’t keep an open mind. It’s not my type of jam, but I’m trying to listen to all the “classics” of the US; something that you shouldn’t miss out on. I gave it a listen, and I wasn’t a fan of the harmonicas returning. But then, as the songs descended, I sat down more to listen to the lyrics as the song played. I just thought “what a lyrical genius?” Some music nowadays just has no flow, no story, especially albums. The way he writes is pretty sick. I was so quick to give this album like a 1-2 the first time I gave it a listen, but I felt it wasn’t fair for me to give an album the proper rating when I haven’t given it a second listen. I listened to it again. I really enjoyed “buckets or rain” what a nice song. You can tell that he really took his time writing this music (I mean it’s an album it needs to have some sort of flow or story compared to an EP). Here are my personal notes when I listened the first way through for the first time: -On the avenuee, tangled up in blues. - holy harmonica 😭😭 holy country airball -you’re a big girl now awww🥹 I liked this song -idiot wind he’s lowkey just vibing tbh -meet me in the morning? Yup for sure I will -buckets of rain💔💔💔10/10 this album is actually not bad. -Lily, rosemary and the jack of hearts was so long but I really liked the song.

Hypnotic, erotic, sclerotic

I don’t love Bob Dylan but didn’t mind this as much as I thought!!

Call me a fake music listener the way this is my first time listening to this Dylan album. I can tell it's good but it's my first listen and I'm tired today so I will give it a 3/5 for now with the possibility of it getting higher once I listen to it again 3/5

Dylan's janky voice singing musically and lyrically good songs once again.

I know that he’s a legend and that this album is similarly legendary, but I just don’t think I can make myself love Bob Dylan.

I don’t hate it.

not bad

fun huh 7/10

Fine for a Dylan. Would listen again.

he sounds like the goat that sings did i? did i did i~

This is my third Bob Dylan album in 348 suggestions so far (the others being Time Out of Mind and Freewheelin' Bob Dylan). I haven't disliked any of them as much as I expected I might going into it. Like the other two, though, I also don't love it. There are some really good songs here. Tangled Up in Blue is probably the strongest for me. Other than that one, I think I preferred the songs recorded in NY over those in Minneapolis. I liked that they felt a little grittier and real compared to the more polished later recordings. Either way, nothing stood out to me as bad. I still just don't love Dylan's performances, though. He clearly has a talent for writing, but his tone and cadence grate on me. This is another album of his running 50+ minutes. I get very tired of him even in shorter spurts, so that length makes it a struggle to enjoy. It's a shame, because I think the last couple songs are probably better than I could appreciate by that point in my listen. As a whole, this was fine to good. If it were shorter, I think I would have been able to like it more. Overall: 3/5

Midwestern love stories told with a lot of emotion and heart, overall a nice album but not really my cup of tea. Meet me in the morning probably my favourite track.

This is a pleasant album and I guess it will be a grower, as it is tickling me to hear thr album again. However, I still don't feel it is that great. Bob has good poetry but I feel from what people tell of his writing I am quite underwhelmed here . 3/5

I’m watching the million dollar man wrestle hercules and this music doesn’t fit at all

j'ai bien aimé mais j'ai pas pu "l'écouter" bien à mon avis (transports). un peu trop d'harmonica a mon goût

With actually be good if it weren’t for the nasally bohemian voice

Probably the second best Dylan album I have listened to on here. A good collection of notable songs. Lily Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts was my standout song. 3.5 stars

Same Dylan story: +++ for lyrics, --- for sound (sorry, Bob).

Sorry cringer not bad

Was only familiar with Blonde on Blonde and Highway 61. I like this better than both of those. Makes me want to go take walk in the woods.

Folk dylan

not too bad, opening song and closing song were great

me gustó bastante. todos los temas están buenos. Si bien es todo country (no le pidas otra cosa a Dylan), el tipo con poco hace muchísimo. Un genio

Arrangement heavy sur l'orgue. Un peu long et répétitif.

Fuck sake Bob! Better than I expected tbh. I start enjoying it though then the fucking harmonica comes in. His lyrics are good. As he's a poet. His songs always go on too long. As he's a poet. If Tangled up in Blue was shorter itd be reet good. I wont rag on Bob too much. Sure is fun though.

Nothing against Dylan and his music but it’s not for me Can’t rate it low because it isn’t bad though

He’s never gonna fully convert me.

Two great songs, the rest ok. I'm never going to be a massive Dylan fan.

Was not anything too wild, the transition between songs felt a little bit jarring.

It's another Bob Dylan album. For better or worse. Wasn't a fan of the cadence of his melodies in the first few songs. Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts stood out on the songs I had not heard. 3/5

Didn’t finish entire album but it was mid-Bob Dylan. 6/10

I've hidden bob Dylan under a stone a long time ago and I forgot about it, and in my next life I became the stone under which I put bob Dylan and I was a weeping stone pleading to the wind to put me under a stone in my next life and release Bob Dylan from under me (Blonde on Blonde is...)

Exactly what I expected

Country

I just don’t get the appeal of this guy generally. I’ve tried focusing on the lyrics. Helps slightly, but not enough to overcome that Vice. The best I can say about this album is that it isn’t his worst.

Skjønner ikke hypen med denne plata. Det er hvertfall 20 Dylan-plater jeg liker bedre.

En helt på det jevne fin plate. Få høydepunkter og få dødpunkter. Kan høre på denne til søndagskaffen.

Mye bra her, spesielt åpningssporet. Teksten til Idiot Wind er ganske røff.

Estuvo bueno, no lo escuché entero pero me gusto 6/10

I enjoyed his storytelling, and the music is well put together, I just find myself wishing it was another artist (whom I know drew inspiration from him).

Muy bueno

Eh, I dunno, man.

Mag ich irgendwie. Ganz entspannt. Aber habe es auch einfach so während der Arbeit gehört. Also kein aufmerksame hören und nichts, was nicht jetzt richtig berührt hat

I thought this was a more subdued Dylan, although there were a few great tracks on first listen this might need some time to sit with me given the lyrical depth

Another example of Bob Dylan’s ability to write great songs but have them never be as good as when others cover them. Great music but he isn’t the best performer.

Still not sure how I feel about Bob's voice. This wasn't bad though, some catchy songs on it

90 days into an album a day and I have had 4 Bob Dylan albums with not a single other artist being repeated. I am so goddamn sick of Bob Dylan

He can tell a good story, but I'm not sure I put this up there as a top album.

I enjoyed it, but know that it would need multiple listens in order to get the full lyrical impact

Nice to enjoy some Dylan with a band behind him, great to hear full arrangements of his music.

I keep being generated Dylan albums, I've given him plenty of chances, I'm well aware of his whole schtick. I still don't see anything beyond a decent singer-songwriter who carries this mythical status because of what the kids today would probably call 'aura'. 90% of the songs have more or less the same structure, the words are often pretty basic, predictable and cliched. Blood On The Tracks has a cool name, an iconic cover and it starts with its best song, Tangled Up In Blue. But it goes nowhere spectacular and three full listens were largely forgettable for me. Fine but just that.

Torn between a three and a four on this one. It followed my typical Dylan listening experience. Which is, I start off loving it, and three or four songs in, I need a break. So, I guess ... because we're rating ALBUMS here, and not general artist quality, I'm going to err on the lower side. That also gives room for Dylan's earlier albums, which I generally prefer.

3.5 - good album

Is this a breakup album? Because his lyrics are still poetic but also more direct so I understand the emotion behind the songs. I also probably spoiled myself on the themes of this record by going on a Wikipedia rabbit hole of Bob's discography. I do like the folk-rock production on this album compared to his older works. His only non-negotiable was probably that damn harmonica 😭. "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts" gave me whiplash when I heard those beats (3.5).

I'll have to take your word for it.

My old friend Bob Dylan... It's nice to see you back. It's been a few months since I last listened to your albums. As for this one, it sounds exactly like you expect it to sound. Lyrics here are as good as ever, though they are distinctly more personal than either Freewheelin' or Highway 61. The voice is more bearable here than on Highway 61, but only slightly. Either way, this is a Bob Dylan album. I respect Dylan more than I like him, and I personally believe that Leonard Cohen is better at crafting albums rather than just poems as Dylan writes them. Compounding this is the fact that Dylan's songs are always at least two verses longer than they have any right to be, which does make them drag on. In short, I can respect his influence without actually wanting to listen to his albums.

Not bad but sounds the same

Bob Dylan

I'm actually surprised I listened to a Folk rock album without getting bored. His songwriting is decent and I like the acoustic feel. The song "Idiot Wind" is quite powerful and "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts" is a nice track with storytelling. Kind of hard to gather my thoughts to music like this. I can appreciate it for what it is. Good album.

I know this is regarded as one of the best albums of all time, it's nice but I don't think it's up there for me.

It's fine but nothing moved me

Ok-ish for folk, seems there may be better Dylan albums out there

I don't hate, but don't love it either. Not sure what I really think about it. The album seems to stay in a somber lane for along time. Feels a little flat.

Dylan is Dylan. Long songs with no bridge. Intricate lyrics through the nasally talk-singing voice. He’s good but there’s a lot of sameness.

experimental

Mastered well, nice listen.

Люблю некоторые треки Дилана, но этот альбом как-то мимо. Будто бы он читает стихи под музыку на фоне, запоминающихся песен нет. Пойду переслушаю Hurricane.

Not any of the bigger songs I know from BD in here but a good listen

This album went down better than the last Dylan for me. I still don’t like his singing style, and he’s still a poor fit for me because I am not good at listening to lyrics. But I found some of these songs relatively enjoyable, if not enough to ever justify a second listen. 5/10 Decent

Better than some of his other shit.

Hate this guy

His voice felt the most consistent and strong here compared the albums I've heard so far. The songs will grow for me with each listen and I felt it ended strongly. High 3, low 4.

This is the most Bob Dylan-esque of the Bob Dylan albums I've heard, and by that I mean the vocal style, the harmonica vamping on the outro of nearly every tune, the poetic somng structure. Very nice. An acquired taste (Ithink I've said that before) but an entertainingan intimate album. An amusement park, all the rides are different. You don't like them all but you can see how some folks think they're fun.

Compared with his earlier work, pure keech. Compared with his later work, pure dead brilliant..

I am not too familiar with Dylan's work but this was a good listen, production and storytelling are really great, the weak link is his voice and singing as usual. Not sure I will listen to it again.

Not bad. Liked more than I thought I would but he grated on me after a while.

I know Mr. Dylan’s voice can be polarizing. But I thought this was a cohesive, good story-telling album that kept my interest. I enjoyed having some more folky sounds with harmonicas and acoustic guitars. Certainly a nice reprieve from some of the previous albums! I really didn’t mind his voice at all either. I’m not sure if I’ll listen to this album again, but it was an enjoyable experience for me.

boooring

É um bom álbum e eu gosto de Bob Dylan. O problema é que já é o 7º disco do Dylan em 268 que tive no desafio até agora. Kawanoaudio Horaiko.

A three because I believe there to be better Dylan albums

Repetitive, but good

mehhhh has potential but aint my jam, we all know bob dylan had hits but this one aint my thing

not my cup of tea. great album nonetheless.

Wouldn't seek it out but wouldn't mind if it came up.

No private session used for Spotify. Dylan definitely falls under of those artists that I would like better if there wasn't so much hype. That being said, I did like this album and it's got a few classics on it. I don't know if I will ever play it again after the two times I just listened to it, but I should try.

This was a nice listen, and I especially enjoyed the first few tracks. I'm not super familiar with Bob Dylan already, but this was pleasant to me. I would consider relistening to this one.

Did not have a positive outlook when I saw the artist. I was surprised when I thought it deserved a 3.

i need to find a lyric explainer video to spoon feed me what these are about bc a) i can't tell what he's saying and b) i'm to dense to pick up on what it means

I really, really like listening to 20-30 mins of Bob Dylan, but it just doesn't do it for me for the whole album.

Okay why is the intro for 'Simple Twist of Fate' actually so beautiful his style of singing is very 'storyteller' - he more speaks the lyrics in this song, which is fun but also ... i'm not sure - i like the harmonica Okay the instruments i really like . 'You're a Big Girl Now' isn't actually too bad WHY ARE THE TUNES THE INSTRUMENTS MAKE SO BEAUTIFUL I like the pace of 'You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go' i'm sorry but i'm not a massive fan of his voice I like 'Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts' - the way the lyrics are told and his voice faintly reminds me of emo music like nevershoutnever or Defiance Ohio. Maybe a lot of it is thanks to the instruments (mainly the acoustic guitar)

I respect Bob Dylan, but I don't seem to connect with much his music. I thought this album got better in the back half (from "Meet Me In The Morning" on) but still just not my thing. Maybe with a few more listens I'd learn to like it but we'll never know.

Pretty good Dylan but not the greatest Dylan.

I enjoyed it but I'm becoming all too familiar with the Bob Dylan formula and can't believe he's gone on to make 4 million albums

Keine Dylan Hits dabei aber ein schöner angenehmer Vibe und gute Texte

I did not need to hear five Bob Dylan albums to find out his music is not for me. It's boring, and the lyrics are always so sad without offering any silver lining. Thumbs up for the harmonica, as always.

Tangled Up In Blue is an all-timer, but this one lost steam for me

Entertaining for sure

Every Bob Dylan album I have had on this generator has been pretty consistent, with this one probably being the best of the three I have heard thus far. Tangled Up In Blue is gorgeous and definitely the best song on the album. I'm still not a tremendous folk fan, but I think, for a folk album, this is among the stronger ones on this generator so far.

Tangled up in Blues. Wow I have never been a fan of Dylan and never listened to an entire album. But this song does not hit me like a song - it’s like a spoken novella of his diary and I adore it.

relaxing

Another bob dylan album whilst I appreciate how good an artist he is does not justify a second inclusion ,no artist should

He Dylans all over it but it's not bad

I didn’t get to hear all of it. I quite like Dylan anyhow but to me it was a bit same-y at times.

Still not a big fan of Dylan's, but I'm starting to appreciate his music a bit more. I'll have to listen again and really focus on the lyrics. Really liked Tangled Up in Blue and If You See Her, Say Hello.

Not familiar with Dylan's work despite his reputation. Nice album after a couple listens, but not really wowing me in any particular way. Might come back to it at some point since I'll probably enjoy it more with a lyrics sheet pulled up. 7.5/10.

I really enjoyed a couple of tracks from this one. The others were serviceable enough to get this a 3 overall.

Repeat listen

Lyrics are great but the production doesn't interest me all that much

Felt very Dylan. It’s not his best album, not his worst. Good listen. Relaxing. It’s a simpler arrangement, not too complex and the lyrics, as always, are good.

Nota: 3 estrelas

Tangled up in Blue and Shelter from the Storm are always good. Rest is ok, if not a little long.

3/5 Bob dylan is defo growing on me! i liked a lot of the songs but then some of them just went on for too long i ended up getting sick of them haha.

okayish. not thrilled the first time i heard it

3/5 some nice tunes but most songs are long with only one act best: tangled up in blue

I'm just not a Dylan fan, sorry. The vocals just grate me, and I sigh every time he whips out the harmonica. That said, I did enjoy Tangled up in Blue and Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. This is fine, but I don't see myself listening again.

I liked it. Dylan is a great song writer and story teller. Maybe a moment in time…but this just didn’t grab me. 3.5 and maybe I’ll later feel guilty about rounding down. But that’s where I am right meow.

Found it a bit monotone, but overall like the sound and Bob's voice, lyrics, tonality, etc.

I like Bob Dylan, but I am self aware enough to know that it is surface level. Most of his songs that I like (and know) are his big singles; that being said, I enjoyed listening to this album. Would I purchase it, not quite sure. Would I listen to it again, potentially.

3.5⭐️/5 01.17.2026

Not exactly my vibe but I still enjoyed listening to it

It feels like this is the 2nd time I've reviewed this album, but it must be one of the other 8 Bob Dylan records on this list. I really enjoy "Tangled Up In Blue", classic track and familiar to a wide audience. "Simple Twist Of Fate" is so well written and covered by a number of artists (Try the Concrete Blonde version!). Overall this album has a ton of listens with "Tangled" leading with 113M but close behind is "Shelter From The Storm" at 100M, "Twist "over 41M, "Meet Me In The Morning" & "Buckets Of Rain" both over 21M. No song under 9M, that tells you just how popular this entire album is. "Idiot Wind" was the one song I could have done without. People must love the pictures he paints with his vocals cause it sure ain't is singing voice they come for. It was enjoyable, but I feel strongly that I could have died before ever listening to it in it's entirety. 3.5 stars.

Its so-so for Dylan

A good album. Bob’s lyricism is so literary and poetic that I finally get the Nobel Prize. I found this one a little boring after the middle, but maybe it was my state of mind. Anyway. 3.5.

A nice album with a few songs that do stand out for me like Simple Twist of Fate and You're going to make me lonesome when you go.

I'm no Dylan aficionado so this seemed like all his other stuff to me. Enjoyable enough.

Anytime Bob Dylan is not holding a harmonica, it's nice and chill music.

Bob Dylan tends to be an artist that I really enjoy the hits but not so much the album as a whole and this was no exception. Tangled up in blue and shelter from the storm are incredible but the rest of the album doesn't live up to those two. Still a good listen for the lyrics and poetry if nothing else.

Craig: fine. Courtney: realizing that there are many Bob Dylan songs that I like better when other people sing them.

talented autistic lil dude. kept on thinking about lil timmy chalamaladinddong. not my taste rly but good and i see the appeal for others

if i told anyone this was the first bob dylan albim i lostened to, i'd be stabbed. bob dylan is like the beatles to me. i highly respect their impact on the music scene, but i feel like other artisys do twice as much work as him. i will say, "idiot wind" blew my socks off. although i haven't heard much of dylan, this track stood out like the birth of a star. it stands out compared to the similar MO of dylan's strongs favorite(s): You're a Big Girl Now; Idiot Wind; youre gonna make me lonesome

At least this album had Tangled Up in Blue, the least bad Dylan song. And Jack of Hearts is a cool story. Hey, look at me saying nice things about Bob Dylan!

“Tangled Up In Blue” is hard to beat. Enjoyable album.

This album has a polished mainstream bend to it that feels like it pollutes his rebel ways a bit. But it doesn’t limit his songwriting. Such cool moments here, “tangled up in blue” “buckets of rain”. And I love the groovier tunes like “meet me in the morning”

I’ll admit better mixing and better singing made this one alright

I listened halfway through(I got a lil busy ) very calm feeling for the first few songs of the album but none that really popped out to me

Makes me want to spray paint something and yell at politicians. Good album for some let out some female rage.

Ben niet echt fan van zn stem en praat-zang. Wel heel erg van de harmonica

Not generally the kind of music that I’m a fan of. As much as I can appreciate the lyrics and skill it is unlikely I will ever return to this album. I liked ‘lily, rosemary and the jack of hearts’, it was upbeat and I think his voice sounded the best here; It sounded very nostalgic to me. ‘Tangled in blue’ was pretty good too, I can see why it was popular. The rest were fine but not something I’d listen to in my own time. That said I happened to be in a teeny tiny town in the middle of the desert while listening and idk there’s something about twangy guitar and harmonica that fit so well with cactus, red rock and dust. I think if you hated or didn’t get this album you should give it another go if you ever end driving though the Arizona desert. Made me feel like I was in an old cowboy movie.

this release isnt for me, but i understand philosophically why it might be for others.

easy listen.

Since struggling with Blonde on Blonde, I’m a little unsure going into Dylan albums now, although Highway 61 Revisited restored a lot of faith. Blood On The Tracks sits somewhere between the two but in truth, closer to the latter and one I shall revisit, and who knows, I might upgrade to 4 stars, the 2nd half of the album certainly is much stronger on first listen.

Favourite: buckets of rain Rating: 5/10 Eindruck: Bob Dylan halt

Probably 3.5.

It's better than Highway 61 Revisited imo, but overall, I may have to accept the fact that Bob Dylan may not be for me

Calm vibes

I'll rate it 3 points out of 5.

I liked “Buckets of Rain” a lot and “If You See Her Say Hello”. The first two songs were a good introduction too, but he lost me around the middle. Still a good album but I just don’t love his voice. However, love love love the guitar!

For Dylan fans, this is one of the defining pieces. For me, a little uneven.

mochte das Album, 2-3 songs waren richtig gut der rest okay ich würde es aber nicht nochmal komplett hören

Feels a little stomp and holler esque but in a good way

Not terrible but not really my kind of taste

3/5 + Bob Dylan - Bob Dylan Fav: Tangled Up in the Blue, Idiot Wind Least Fav: -

Сложно оценить без хорошего английского на слух. А переводить что-то лень.

I've never listened to this album (78).

For me this is the second last of the good, or decent, Dylan albums (I don't really count Basement Tapes as it's really earlier recordings). But it's not as good as Desire. Tangled up in Blue and Simple Twist of Fate are good tracks, and Shelter from the Storm is one of my favourite later Dylan tracks. But outside of these, you have a lot of jangly country-tinged filler. I'm not sure why people rave so much about this one as an album. I barely listen to this one--I just have the three aforementioned songs on playlists. Otherwise, meh. I'd say the beginning of the end but that had already started for a good few years by the time this album came out. 3/5

Not my favourite Bobby D

This 1975 record is a funny entry point for me with BD, apparently his most emotionally vulnerable and personal album from a period in his career generally recognised as a departure from rock n roll for folk-driven, experimental work. Really appreciated this one, more than I enjoyed it, and for storyteller of this calibre I think it’s fair to say that will come with several more listens. Dylan’s voice is truly the pillar from which everything else thrives here; a captivating orator and lyricist by all accounts, whose stream-of-conscious style took the folk and rock genres forward. I’d always heard about the uniqueness of his cadence, but in this narrative context it really shines through. Delivery is almost conversational, which marries with his lyric centrality perfectly, and beyond adding the character which drives his iconic sound, Dylan’s melodic imperfections more importantly add to the relatability of songs themselves. Instrumentally, compositions are as consistent as they are beautiful; either acoustic, chord driven guitar work, or more upbeat, folky/bluesy support, swinging in a way that often drives the lyric flow into a poetic, stanza-ish delivery. Either of the two primary musical archetypes on this album are infused with the harmonica... that harmonica... It’s melancholic and somehow symbolistic of a vulnerability and lonesomeness I can’t describe, and I love it so much. I feel that BOTT doesn’t present much casual listenability for me due to its lyric focus and track length at times, but songs like ‘Lily, ‘Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts’ (a 9 minute, novella-scale narrative effort) are incredible in the more conscious listening context they deserve. My favourite songs are ‘Tangled up in Blue’ and Meet Me in the Morning’, which I find to be the most melodically engaging track and something I didn’t find as much of as I expected on this project. Much more to hear from Bob Dylan to form a more comprehensive opinion on him, but interesting to hear such a vulnerable body of work as a first proper impression.

i enjoyed this!! may listen again looking at the lyrics properly based on other reviews. i like bob dylan but i don’t think i’ve listened to an album through so this was a good place to start i think

Really great! Super engaging, way easier to listen to than I thought it would be considering the musical style and overall length. They’re all very interesting songs this is another one I’m very late to!

Not bad.

mid ?

Bobby the poet has a story to tell, quite a refreshment! Not bad Mr. Dylan… Not bad at all. “Love is so simple, to quote a phrase You’ve known it all the time, I’m learnin’ it these days”- You’re a Big Girl Now

Sounds the same bruh first song wasn’t bad

Thus far too much harmonica. Entered skeptical, finished confirmed that this is not for me.

Number 1

First recommended album. Seems like no matter what I listen to Dylan comes up. I guess it won't kill me to listen to an entire album of his but I was disappointed this he was the first recommended artist. The songs I know, Tangled up in Blue, and Shelter from the Storm (discovered from the Jerry Maguire movie soundtrack.) Both are the most played songs on Spotify. This is a nice album. While it's good to listen as it plays in the background I think reading the lyrics of the songs would deepen my understanding. I have a hesitancy in wanting to dive deeper. There's something about Dylan that I don't like but I can't put my finger on it.

Ik vond het minder slecht dan ik dacht, maar niet mijn muziek

Can't complain about Bob, never been his biggest fan but he is great storyteller and a more than adequate musician

Album has some good material. Ok.

one of the best Bob Dylan albums, no skips, best song: Idiot Wind

Sorry just can’t get into Bobby boy

Not that much of a bob dylan fan, not a hater either. I like the instrumentals, his voice is the only thing thats actually BAD. Its just not an album that i would willingly go back to listen to.

I've listened to this before. Not his worst but I don't love it.

Fine. It's Bob Dylan, I don't find him annoying but I don't quite get all the hype around him. The album was him being him.

Annoying, but respectable

Okay Bob Dylan

My perception of Dylan has definitely gone down through this. The meaning behind the lyrics gets tarnished if the melody is mid.

I vaguely remember the single "Tangled Up in Blue", but otherwise as far as I'm concerned, it's a largely forgettable album.

Enjoyed more than I expected to. He still has a weird voice but he is a great lyricist

singer-songwriter not my thing

Huuliharppua ja akustista. Dylan ei kyllä varsinaisesti osaa laulaa

Didn't recognise any of the songs really. Ok but not my favourite

Pretty good for a Bob album.

This feels like a record that demands repeat listens to soak up the storytelling. Tracks like Jack of Hearts really drone on if you’re not fully invested in the narrative. I enjoyed the listen, it doesn’t stand out as a favourite Dylan record off the bat but I would spend more time with it because I think there’s something here. I found myself pretty moved by You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome. Standout tracks: Tangled Up In Blue, You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome

I think Dylan a bit hit and miss sometimes, it’s definitely a certain mood. Nice playing on this and not bad songs. Nice storytelling. Gets a tad repetitive.

Probably great, but Bob's voice is grating and the songs aren't particularly exciting. It's definitely catchy and well-played, but I'll probably save listening to this album again for my retirement.

Bob Dylan as you know him

I'm going to hell, but I can't stand this man's voice.

не люблю боба дулана.... но мит ми ин зе морнинг топ

Loved as a kid. Didn’t hold up for me. Still liked a few.

Liked it, but coming to believe I’m more a fan of his earlier era.

A classic for a reason, but not necessarily for me

Couple bangers, mostly sounds the same though

Really like bob Dylan. Feels like roadtrip music to me.

great album

The poetry, the imagery, the storytelling, but then the grating voice, and the harmonica...

Not bad...average.

FAVO: Tangled up in Blue, Meet me in the morning

I think I liked this one more than any other Dylan album to date. Sadly, he did all the singing. It works alright sometimes, but sounds comically bad others. 3.5*. Is there a tribute album where talented singers sing his exceptional lyrics?

No te aguanto, Bob. Ni antes ni ahora. Probablemente jamás. Nota: 1.7

This is the 2nd Bob Dylan Album i've reviewed so far, which is wild considering that i'm only on album 8... almost like the universe telling me that I should be listening to more Bob Dylan... similarly to the last one i reviewed (freewheelin'), This album does everything right musically and lyrically..... but i dont know, Bob Dylan just isn't my taste. Maybe its just the folk genre. I will say, I do believe this is truly required listening for a music appreciator. Just not something i will ever return to consistently. 3/5

Not to say that I disliked my last Bob Dylan assignment, but I was a bit bummed to get another album from him so soon after Blonde on Blonde. He’s apparently got seven LPs on the list though, so I guess it doesn’t hurt to knock another one out! Blood on the Tracks was actually a pretty good one to follow up Blonde on Blonde with, as it represents almost a decade of progress – his songwriting chops were still very present, but there were some different vocal delivery and stylistic choices across the project that consistently kept things interesting. It even sounded like he was singing genuine melodies on a few of the tracks, which wasn’t really the case last time! Overall, I think I liked BOTT just a little more than BOB, but probably not enough to push it into four star territory. It doesn’t help that the longest song on the album was also the one I found to be the most insufferable – I’m not particularly eager to give the LP another front-to-back listen any time soon, despite it containing some fairly strong highlights. Side note, but I finally listened to "Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door" today since it released in the interim between BOB & BOTT and wow, what a tune. No one ever told me just how good that original version is! Highlights: Tangled up in Blue, Simple Twist of Fate, You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go, Meet Me in the Morning

Beakright album better than the previous one I listened to

Fav song: Meet Me in the Morning - The right artist doing this song would make my day.

Not generally a fan of BD, but this is a good album. His unusual vocal delivery and sometimes too-intense harmonica playing is mellowed out with some good songs.

Enjoyed.

I have never liked Dylans raspy voice, but the lyricism on this album make up for it. Every song feels like its own, well written little story, full of yearning. I've never listened to a full Dylan album before, but I definetly will be giving his discography more attention after this listen. Easy 3, close to a 4

sicher es sehr schöns album, aber eif nöd so mini musig

Wish he was a better singer. Great story telling though

A couple of standout songs but, like with most of his albums, they are better to listen to in small bursts instead of one sitting. It just starts to wear on me after a while.

Fan of Dylan, not heard this or many of the tracks before. Enjoyed it

Meh. 3/5

You'd think an album named 'Blood on the Tracks' would sound at least A LITTLE more badass

I like Dylan's older stuff than this one, but lyrically there's some really cool stuff here. I just have the same gripe I always have with him: his lyrics and tunes are great, but I have to listen to him sing and play them. The good thing is there's a ton of better singers and players who take his stuff and turn it into greatness.

While Dylan's singing is not as bad as people make it out to be, his lyricism is also not as good as they say so... overall it balances itself out.

Bob Dylan was okay overall. Had better songs than from the 60's

Zu langsam und schnulzig alles gleich

6/10 - this album was good for the nostalgia of my VW Bus days and listening to KGON classic rock. All of Dylan's songs tend to sound the same to me, and I'm far removed from the storyline that would help me internalize the songs, but I like the more simple guitar melodies on this album. Favorite track was Buckets of Rain. I did recognize several tracks from pop culture: Tangled Up in Blue, Shelter From the Storm.

I thought it was ok, very Dylan. I have other things to listen to now…

Hyggelig plate.

I am definetely not a Dylan fan. Even less after I wentto see him live and the obvious lack of generosity, the entitlement (I wondered why he bothered to show up), on an already bad voice made me put it on the bottom of my shelve. Yet here, listening the album twice, I measure the length of his stories. It's not Verse 1, chorus, verse2, chorus, verse 1 again... it's 9 mn long stories with different lines all along (Lily Rosemary...) and the stories are quoite nice (should I say poetry for the Nobel price?). Yet, musicaly... Not so much melody, lazy voice...

I didn't like this album at first, but the more I listened to it, the more I appreciated it. Over time, there's a certain musical poetry that emerges as you listen. It's strange; I was going to give it two stars, but in the end, it deserves its three.

I really like that all this folk songs just tell stories, not a really repetitive pattern, catchy chorus, they're storytelling and I could let myself get lost in it. Nevertheless, putting the album on the background (which is what I do) and not really listening to the lyrics makes it feel repetitive and boring. A good album, I think I could've enjoyed it more

One of the most famous albums from the 1970s. Many consider this Dylan’s most important work!! The song writing is top notch! I personally cannot get paste his voice. I enjoy the craftsmanship but his “singing” makes this a rare listen for me 3 1/2 stars

Could not finish. It is a no for me

Dylan was/is very influential, but I don't care for most of his work. He opened a path, but I think he was surpassed by many other artist. Even among contemporaries, Paul Simon and Townes Van Zandt are better.

A bit dull

Some great songs when harmonica stays locked away

I thought I didn't like Bob Dylan because of Blond on Blond. This one was much better.

Didn't thrill me. Ended up being background music while I did other things.

In a body of work that I'm not usually fusses about, this is a great exception.

Das Album zeigt Dylan von seiner verletzlichen Seite – lyrisch stark, aber musikalisch nicht immer überzeugend. Einige Songs berühren tief, andere wirken unfertig. Ein ehrliches, aber nicht makelloses Album.

Having heard a few Dylan albums previously, including this one, I long ago concluded that he's not for me. What he has going for him are his lyrics. His vocals rarely are better than grating and more than half the time his musical choices are dull. The best compliment I can possibly give him are that his best songs are only enjoyable when performed by someone else. He has plenty of those - but that is the bare minimum when you've had as many releases as he has. Blood On The Tracks is one of the more tolerable albums I've heard. There are a few songs here than I could just about stomach listening to again via his original recordings, but aside from the lyrics and their content, I find it mostly musically uninspired, the constant harmonica is like what crucifixion must feel like, and the whole thing drones on longer than it should. I don't doubt its cultural importance - generally the most important criteria for inclusion in lists such as these (rightly or wrongly) - so I must give it 3 stars. It's a low to mid-range 2 for me personally.

A mixture of Blood, Mud and Crud on these Tracks. Some mighty highlights with Tangled Up In Blue, E-I-E-I-Odiot Wind (or is it Aaliyah-diot Wind? Duff man “OOH YEAH”-diot Wind?) and Shelter From The Storm. Some more nice stuff with You’re A Big Girl Now and Buckets Of Rain. Some real boring stuff with Meet Me In The Morning and Lily, Rosemary And The Jack Of Hearts which goes on for a thousand extra verses even more than most of the other songs do. 3.5 stars overall.

I don’t care much for folk rock. Bob Dylan not really my thing unfortunately.

It’s a bit bloated but there is some good stuff in there

Middle of the road Dylan. I liked his early stuff a lot, but this started getting boring after a while. Still better than most of the BritPop 90's crap on this list. 3/5

If anyone but Dylan sang these, I'd enjoy it a lot more.

I just can’t with Dylan. Tangled Up in Blue is great and the first few tracks are promising but then it turns in to the usual annoying vein. His voice really grates on me at points Another one that would have made a great poet

Better than blonde on blonde due to less whiny voice

A good album and feels authentic to his style. Personally, I like Freewheelin’ better and feel like it tells a bigger story. BOTT also doesn’t feel very dynamic — most songs are about the same length and have a similar sound. Still a solid album, but not one I come back to a lot. Favorite songs are Shelter From the Storm and You’re a Big Girl Now.

3.0 - Ok

Why did he get the Nobel and not Joni Mitchell?!?

It’s Bob Dylan so ofc it’s good (source: the harmonica). It’s just not my fav Bob Dylan.
