Buenas canciones, te transmite cosas q solo las canciones viejas pueden

Kind of boring. Probably because I've heard so much Frank Sinatra before. Happy to be done with this one

Listening to this directly after 'Bitches Brew', both filed under 'jazz'. The eternal tragedy of language and its many subtle treacheries. That said, this is exactly what you think it's going to be, no more or less, so don't expect your preconceptions to be shattered on listening. For me, it's fine: the pinnacle of cheese, inoffensive and samey, reassuringly smooth, with no ambitions to leap beyond its cosy enclosure.

Just the perfect background album

lowkey every track sounds the same its so repetitive maybe 3 songs stand out

🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️

Pleasant and unobstructive swingy classic pop songs as expected! No smarmy remarks this time. Highlights: "You Make Me Feel So Young", "Pennies from Heaven", "I've Got You Under My Skin"

I really like it but i give it a 3 just based on it not being the best frank sinatra album

Nothing wrong with the music itself but it makes me feel like I’m in an Italian American restaurant with lots of pictures on the walls. About to be underwhelmed by a Caesar salad and overcooked spaghetti

I only listened to some. His phrasing is really amazing, like what you’d hope a solo instrument would shape melodies like. Hard for me to really listen to though, it’s a style that’s such a part of the fabric of older moves and films that I struggle to separate it from just being “setting”

Music that captures the feeling of being drunk (not to be confused with music that captures the reality of being drunk...Sex Pistols or something). I wasn't day drinking on the Tuesday morning I heard this one, so that might be part of the problem. What do you score it when you like each individual song on something very much, but only when there is lime a month between tracks? I was leaning towards 2, but "Anything Goes" reminded me of how much I like "Temple of Doom" so I'll make it a 3.

Pleasant, but very samey.

Oleaginous

Es un álbum interesante, no soy amante de este tipo de música pero la idea es expandir el gusto músical y dejar de repetir constantemente las mismas playlist.

it's basically the same song over and over again but hey, at least it's a good song

The best crooner in town ! Just an easy listen nothing more than a steady 3 stars

sinatra is pretty tuff ngl! this felt like watching a rom-com musical from back in the day--i liked it a lot

me sentí en juego de gemelas

124. not bad

I've never been a big fan of Sinatra but at least most of these I haven't already heard a million times

'too marvelous for words' is very enjoyable. realising I'm not much of a jazz fan too much. Or whatever genre Frank Sinatra is but its a pretty good album thus far. I just don't connect to it as much as I thought I would since it seems like the whole bloody world loves Sinatra. But its still pretty capital.

It's Frank Sinatra, and he's doing the Frank Sinatra thing, and I can probably leave it there. He's got a collection of great pop songs here that he brings his effortless charisma to, and it's an enjoyable listen. Yes, the songs run into each other a little, and yes, a couple of them (Makin' Whoopee and Anything Goes in particular) have been rendered kind of bizarre and laughable with age, but there is still a joy in songs like How About You?, You Make Me Feel So Young, and other earnest, enjoyable pop standards. It's a solid listen.

Great music to listen to while studying, but other then that, most of the songs sounded the same, i liked the intrumental more than the singing. Id say its great with a morning cup of coffee.

Sounds like Sinatra. Not sure if its better or worse than any of his other albums. Does the trick

I mean...it is Frank Sinatra. He is so talented and he is only going to have the best band. However, I do enjoy the Louis Prima version of "Pennies From Heaven" from Elf better lol. Ironically "You Make Me Feel So Young" is from Elf lolol. This is a great album. I am not sure how much of this I will come back to, but this is really well done. Liked Songs: "You Make Me Feel So Young" , "It Happened In Monterey" , "You're Getting To Be A Habbit With Me" , "Old Devil Moon" , "Pennies From Heaven" , "I've Got You Under My Skin" , "We'll Be Together Again" , "Swingin' Down The Lane" , "Anything Goes" , "How About You?"

Great for ambient music, sweet and calming.

Classic Frank Sinatra album, some individual great songs, but I think this style is repetitive

romance, classic, beautiful

I love the vibe of the music, but I don't like the lyrics.

I wish I could rate this 3.5, stars. I don't ever really listen to this type of music, but it is very pleasing to listen to and Sinatra has a great voice. You can easily tell he knows what he is doing. I just don't feel fulfilled listening to this type of music as I do with other music.

I’ve heard this before. It’s been a while. Frank Sinatra isn’t someone i really care about, i don’t love him and I don’t dislike him. I like him just fine I guess. He’s got a nice voice but definitely overrated, kinda like Elvis except very much an anti racist. So these are all fun classic songs that I’ve heard a lot of times, I enjoy listening to them but they don’t stick with me for long. I like this album just fine I guess.

A bit too old for my musical tastes, but I'll be damned if Sinatra's voice isn't legendary for a reason. 7/10.

Hard to knock it much at all, they're standards for a reason and his voice is iconic for a reason. The big band instrumentals could really be doing more, I guess

Classic but boring, sounds like one neverending song. 3/5

This album is nice enough to listen to. Mr. Sinatra was a talented guy for sure. I can fully understand why he was so popular. Listening to it today though, this is music for really old people, swingin' hipsters, and wedding reception DJs. Not bad for 70 year old music.

muy repetitivo, vale la pena escucharlo por la voz del gordo frank

Yes!!!!

will swing ever make a comeback?

Crooner stuff is fun once in a while. A whole album of it puts me to sleep.

I go back and forth between 3 and 4…. I think it hasn’t aged well and I don’t find myself wanting to listen again…. So 3.4… close to 4 but not quite

Classic. Maybe nice for a slow dance here and there.

It’s frank but not leak. 6/10

Franks one of those that if you like one song you will like them all.

Just pleasant to listen to, nothing super artistic or compelling about this specific record.

This is my first time listening to this album start-to-finish, though I recognize many of the song titles as standards. I'm just not a fan of Sinatra. Admittedly, he's better than I expected on this, and that might be because it's one of his earlier recordings.

Love a swing album.

Perfectly enjoyable crooning and Frank has lovely voice. However, a whole album is a bit too much for me.

Obviously have heard of Sinatra. Never heard this album. Buttery smooth voice. Great songwriting on you make me feel so young. Good love song. Very 50s. Monterey is pretty good. Basically the same as the first song. Good orchestra in the background. I have a feeling that there won’t be much variety on this album. “Habit” is really fun and well written. Marvelous is pretty good too. The production and songwriting are top tier throughout. Just very dated. Old devil moon is pretty cool. Same with Pennie’s form heaven. Like I assumed, all song are pretty similar. Under my skin is fun. Catchy chorus. Super well written. All the songs are starting to blend together. Not the worst thing because it’s not a bad style of music. Wish anything goes was the last song. This one is really good. How about you is fine just doesn’t hit as hard. Overall pretty good album but nothing special. Not enough variety. Great singer/somgwriter tho. Solid 2.6 album.

I'd never heard the original version of Anything Goes from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

All pretty similar sounding but not bad. I feel like I should be listening on a radio instead of in wireless headphones. 3/5

It's a fun/easy listen and it's exactly what I expect Frank Sinatra to sound like. Interesting that it's considered one of his top two albums and it's entirely covers ("pop standards"). That was a different era, where doing your own take on a popular tune was a standard thing to do. The album reminds me of the English Patient soundtrack, which has a style/vibe that I like.

When we listened to Sinatra's Bossa Nova infused album a while back, I was all "why aren't we listening to something that feels more quintessentially Sinatra?" But, now that we've got that, I miss the unexpectedness of the other album. This is all very good, just very expected.

Familiarity bred contempt with this album. Because certain songs are so overplayed in commercials and TV shows and movies, it was just super hard to hear with fresh ears and appreciate as if they weren't cheesy bids to manipulate my emotions (You Make Me Feel So Young, Makin' Whoopee, I've Got Youn Under My Skin.) His voice is amazing but it was hard to shed the impression of *cheese* with listening to this - so scoring lower than the other entry we've had, which felt sadder and jazzier and just less cringe.

3 out of 5. Another album that would be good to cook to.

Now, it would seem, a true legend! Who hasn't heard of Frank Sinatra? Everyone's mind immediately conjures up images of him in his signature trilby hat at the mention of his name. However, even here, things aren't so simple. Yes, this is a pleasant collection of upbeat love songs written by other songwriters and by then almost classics, performed by Sinatra's velvety voice, unmistakable. Arranger Nelson Riddle also did a superb job with the instrumental section. But just remember, if you've heard one song on this album, you've heard them all; even AC/DC would be outdone in terms of monotony. However, there's nothing wrong with that, and the record is perfect as a leisurely backdrop for dinner. Then you can smoothly go from dinner to dancing, if you have someone to join you.

Classic Sinatra. Consistent all the way through, man's got a vibe. Was a very enjoyable car ride listening to it!

I dunno, it’s fine I guess? If I was at a party or a wedding and someone put this on, I wouldn’t object.

Classic

It's not bad, it's just a bit boring.

I get that this was popular - that easy swing, big band style - but it's not really my cup of tea. There's some nice songwriting behind it, but Sinatra's treatment of the material is so samey and unchallenging that the tracks just bleed into one another. You really have to love that sound, or it kind of becomes relentless. /Might/ have worked better for me in its own context in the 50s.

Me gusta mucho Frank Sinatra, pero este álbum por muy conocido que sea nunca me convenció lo suficiente. Aún así se merece sus buenas estrellas.

It's just classic, isn't it? This list is full new, challenging and innovative music. But sometimes it's just nice to hear some classic vocal performances. My only criticism is that there's not much variety here but for what it is, it's great.

Frank sounds bored and insincere. Shame because these are great songs from stage and screen.

Solid gold big band jazz Enjoyable the whole way through but the songs can get repetitive

Very smooth and jazzy, but just a bit too old fashioned for my tastes. Still worth experiencing.

Boop boop, swingamading. Þetta var kósý. Komst bara í semi jólaskap. Mis góð lögin auðvitað. Frankie var flottur söngvari.

Ósköp fín og þægileg kokteiltónlist við vinnuna.

Classic for a reason!

it was ok, not my thing really

There are some classic Frank songs that are fantastic. It is big band swing and the man can sing, but a little too laid back for me the majority of the album. Still a great album, great for a romantic dinner date or such

All songs seemed a little too similar for me. I wonder if in the context the album was released it was a fresh sound.

At start was cool but too repetitive for my taste. Live the first song tho and Live Is Here To Stay

Great voice. Songs about love or affairs or something. 3.0/5.0

Gute Hintergrundmusik wenn man einen Hut trägt und Martini trinkt

You get what you asked for, wenn man sinatra hört. ich persönlich mag einzelne alben immer mal ganz gerne

not bad, fun

Today is my wife's 30th birthday, so getting to start my day by listening through a collection of exuberant love songs was definitely a treat! This album was great background noise for making my breakfast and thinking about how lucky I am to be married to such a beautiful and kind soul. Separating the actual music from that experience, I'd say my thoughts on Songs for Swingin' Lovers! are pretty similar to that of In the Wee Small Hours – the album is better served as mood music than something to deeply perceive and analyze. It's good, but I'd be hesitant to call it high art. Slight tangent, but I've never liked this album's artwork. Why does Frankie have to be up in the clouds (à la Mufasa) watching over these young lovers? Do they consent to Ol' Blue Eyes peeping on their intimate dancing or are they blissfully unaware of his presence? Does God also wear a fedora? These are questions the people deserve answers to. Highlights: You Make Me Feel So Young, You're Getting to Be a Habit with Me, Old Devil Moon, Love Is Here to Stay, I've Got You Under My Skin, Makin' Whoopee, How About You?

Well orchestrated, well sung But the music hasn't aged that well, and it sounds very monotonous. Sinatra sings really well, but never shows any vulnerability which I assume is reflective of the times. Perhaps in it's in era this album was sexy and fresh, not so much anymore I'm sure there are subtleties that I would be more in tune with if I grew up when this music was popular I'm giving it a 3, because most of the things I don't like about the record are because it was recorded in a radically different era, and I don't want to give it a low rating based only on the sensibilities of a 30 years old, 70 years later. Worth noting too that this was released before albums as a whole really mattered, and albums by popular artists usually contained a hit or 2 and a whole lot of filler. Few full albums from this era would hold up now. I'm also keeping into account that the songs are well made, and that Sinatra is a terrific singer

This genre has been permanently linked to Christmas in my mind, despite none of the songs having any subject matter related to Christmas. Since Sinatra doesn't sing about Santa Claus, it's become a bit better.

Feels very vanilla, which makes sense because of it's age but I like it nonetheless.

nice to listen to, vocal tone is amazing, would I go back and listen again, nope, not for me - but I see why people would like it 3

its charming.

I’ve heard of Frank Sinatra. Favorites: I’ve Got You Under My Skin, We’ll Be Together Again Thoughts: This guy is so good at singing he makes me want to sing. However, as someone who likes instrumentals these songs kinda meld together with the bass, piano, trumpets + reminds me of Christmas music.

Sinatra!

Can't really go wrong with Sinatra, I think

Love big band music. Nothing new here but pleasant. Stupid album title

This music isn’t aging well but I can’t deny its impact on music and society.

All good stuff.

Overall very upbeat album, which suits old blue eyes well. Favorite track: You Make Me Feel So Young

This is further from my wheelhouse than other albums so far. Musically, the early 50’s are so different from the late 60’s, only 15 years later. No guitar or bass, only horns and strings. It was pleasant to listen to, and Sinatra has a great voice. I know his most famous tunes, and this album only has one song I was familiar with.

This was a nice trip to a far away land and time where singing about "Makin' Whoopee" must have been quite scandalous. And that's not even considering the album title itself!

Nevermind and Screamadelica are as old now as this was when they were released. Do those albums sound as old as Sinatra seemed in 1991??? This is as you'd expect, every song is the same, like the background to a mob restaurant in Goodfellas. Or like the music that plays when Pepe Le Pew is romancing a cat who has walked under some dripping paint again. It rolls along pleasantly.

You can hear this album any time, day or night, at your local Olive Garden.

Solid vocal jazz delivered by the smooth voice of the iconic Frank Sinatra. And while I do think that performances from this late '50s vocal jazz scene tend to blend in with one another, Sinatra's remains instantly recognizable to me. It's a voice that paints a vivid image of its time - one of a nostalgic setting, where middle-class Americans are drinking their wine in a glossy hall as the full moon hangs above downtown New York. Nostalgic to me, specifically, seeing as I was obsessed with old Disney movies growing up. But anyway, the album creates a pleasant atmosphere to bathe in for 40 or so minutes, despite its lack of variety. It's not something I can really hold against this record, though, I've come to expect that from Sinatra in all honesty. It's just not a record that rewards in-depth listening, but rather one you throw on to add a rich flavor to some other activity. A few moments here did demand my attention, though, especially the Big Band breakdown on 'I've Got You Under My Skin,' or the string section on 'We'll Be Together Again.' Still undeniably well executed, and Frank proves himself to be one of the most well-rounded vocalists in this genre. Favorite song here was 'You Make Me Feel So Young.'

Leuk om eens een album van Frank Sinatra te luisteren. Dit is er eentje die op de plank kan staan en je zou draaien op date night. Ik ken te weinig Sinatra / jazz om er over te kunnen zeggen of het nou heel bijzonder is. Solide 3, gewoon lekker

It all kind of sounds the same but it's fun. He had some pipes.

Viva las Vegas! This feels like the soundtrack for a generation. A lot of fun classics that are easy to listen to. I understand why so many love Frank.

I think if Frank Sinatra sang anything it would sound magical and fantastic. Him, 5 stars. This is probably another 3.

Pretty swingin'!

All the songs sound the same. But they do sound good.

Feb 2, 2026 - We really need new crooners and big band music again.

We don't say things like "Makin' Whoopee" anymore

💃💃🕺 Swing 5/10

Like pulling on an old jumper cost and I know all the words

Iconic voice and nice/pleasant songs to listen to. Got to listen to more Sinatra.

Very different from my usual taste but very refreshing. Songs have very meaningful lyrics and the composition is fantastic. Great album 3.4/5

очень однотипный альбом , такое ощущение, что слушаешь одну песню. лучшая песня "too marvelous for words". альбом 5/10

Perfectly pleasant album. A lot of these seem like popular choices from movies I've watched.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but it was - at best - anodyne...

i like it just for background

I've being incredibly harsh on albums where the songs sound way too much the same. But this is one of the exceptions. This record might not be fantastic but at least is charming. Frank Sinatra's voice is very soothing with sometimes hitting some high notes to add a bit of emotion. However, in general terms, he can get a bit monotone and feeling like he is singing the same exact melody every time. In addition, the fact that most of the songs are about love doesn't help. Fortunately, the band playing behind is very entertaining and gives the music a lot more life and energy thanks to the solos, pauses and little variations on the instruments playing. And that is really all I can say, as there is not much going than Frank Sinatra and the band playing some old fashion vocal jazz tunes.

I acknowledhe frank sinatra's voice, and I would listen to it again if I'm searching for a vibe. But I didn't get away with it with no song in specific

Classic

i wasn't able to go through the lyrics but i enjoyed it dahil sa melody bdhshs

No joo.

Same song for the entire album. Its fine

5/15, 33%

Great vibes from this album and its just something nice to listen to and enjoy. Sinatra's voice is also very warm enhancing that mellow vibe. 6/10, Favorite song: You brought a new kind of love to me

Enjoyed the swagger of Frankie boy

What the fucking is making whoopy? This guy was friends with gangsters and he can't even say fuck

Hits are good, but it kinda drags at points

l'album se fait un peu long à force et un peu trop répétitif

Damn Dimebag owes a lot to Eddie.

Despite my general aversion to crooning I kind of enjoyed this. These songs really are quite pleasant to listen to. Not challenging at all and not something I’d listen to often, but I might throw it on again if I was having a bad day.

I don’t care if he is the Big Poppa, can he croon?

Would’ve gone down smoother with an old fashioned

I'm tempted to rate this higher - it's all very good, Sinatra's singing is buttery smooth, it's thoroughly pleasant to listen to - but it's basically 15 of the same song over and over

each track is only 3 minutes long but unless you are listening specifically to the fantastic horns section you are not gonna be able to tell when one ends and another begins it's fine. it's good even! the band is great, the voice is great. I'd probably even rate it higher individually but as an album it just bleeds together and is less than the sum of its parts

His voice is nice but got kinda bored if the song really didn't go for it

Very pleasant and easy listening soft swing album. After first few songs it blends into the ether and becomes literal background noise, you only realise it's stopped when you suddenly hear the silence.

A crooning masterclass from Sinatra, with very tasteful arrangements. Clearly really great stuff, but maybe decades of pastiche by others means that it just doesn't grab me as much as it might.

I think this album is not badly produced and the vibe is indeed 'swingy'. For me personally it's a little to monotonous and bland, though.

Sinatra has a great voice. I can appreciate that this is good music, it's just not the type I generally like. The songs kind of ran together, none of them stood out.

13 januari 2026.

Love me some Sinatra! Some lovely arrangements on here, but after like 5 songs it started to feel a bit same-y to me. Felt more like background music rather than a piece of art/entertainment that I wanted to fully absorb. Banger arrangements by Nelson Riddle tho

Anything Goes is a classic

A pleasant record. Horn arrangements are incredible. Doesn't stack up to some of my preferred crooner records (Nat King Cole) but it's nice to have on.

classy oo but not really my type

other people’s reviews are so funny this literally letterboxd but for albums. no but they were right i can’t differentiate the songs from each other bye. fun and enjoyable.

Impossible not to be drawn into Sinatra’s smooth style!

omg why i don't like jazz i guess i should appreciate this anyways it's so old, there were no other ways of making music his voice is truly iconic had to take a pause after the 8th song cause I was falling asleep I am so sorry, mr. sinatra okay, after the break it got better still don't like it though. very one-time, one-vibe listen

No. 69 A fresh album, ideal to listen to while you are studying or prepare a delicious meal.

I know that this is supposed to be his best album, but am I crazy in saying i didn't love it? I think there are better crooners out there

It's fine. Making whoopie is a mistake of a song.

This is sorta a hard album to approach cause a lot of my parameters for music quality doesn’t apply to music this old. For example, I can’t complain about there being a lack of variety of sounds because there was like 3 genres of music at the time so there wasn’t a lot to pull from. And to be fair, music from the 50s was kinda homogeneous, like a lot of the songs on this album are like wildly well known popular songs recorded by LOTS of people, like making whoopie and those tracks. So I can’t critique the song writing cause Frank didn’t really write songs, this is from when most musicians had writers. It’s actually wild cause really the only thing I can review is his voice and the songs on here that are his songs in the sense that they are most heavily associated with him, like “I’ve got you under my skin” and “you make me feel so young”. Both great songs, genuinely generationally impactful and important to so many people. And I even found a few other tracks I had never heard before that I liked. But for the most part it’s an aged piece of history that is entirely “of it’s time” mostly to a fault. I don’t think I’d ever listen to this album again, it wasn’t god awful or anything, just kinda boring and I’d probably just put on my own Frank playlist so it’s curated with all the songs I like, but yah this album is pretty acceptable and forgettable all at the same time.

Not my thing at all, he had a fine "crooning "voice and my mother loved him. I was sick of it by the end but it was what it was and a lot better than some of the crap on here.

Mehhh, of the time. I can appreciate that they'd never heard rock music so this was probably peak. Got to try to contextualise, haven't you? I've been washing dishes and shake n vac'ing all day. A delightful homemade pie is in the oven, and the spuds are bubbling away on the stovetop. The house looks and smells wonderful, and I put on my dotty frock and do up my hair just before husband comes home. He comes in, wraps his arms around me and gives me a twirl in the kitchen to some romantic lyrics. The swinging lets me know we're makin whoopie later so we can add to our brood. Oh how wonderful. Then he slaps me about for tea being late to the table. Anyway, it was fine for what it was.

NY NJ Swinging singin Mr. Old Blue Eyes. Those horns! Rip Frank Sinatra you would’ve loved Jschlatt and that one guy who was on America’s Got Talent that sounded like a crooner. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Always stay Italian, Frankie baby. Thanks for the love songs that never seem to go out of style or fall out of love.

jako lep album, opet nisam oduševljena ne bih slušala svaki dan al mnogo opuštajuće

When elevators die and go to heaven, this is the music that gets played. A great singer, just not my style

actually sehr cozy und vibey – es ist gar nicht so mein vibe, also würde es höchstens mal als Hintergrundmusik hören aber ne schlechte Bewertung zu geben tut mir auch echt weh :(((

He has a soothing voice; good lyrics with slightly upbeat tempos. The album is methodically structured and well blended together. It's a beautifully written, romantic album.

sounds like xmas

frank sinatra is just *the* genre of lounge music. this is all good stuff but its not christmas music or New York New York or My Way so you cant sing along to it (I've Got You Under My Skin is probably an exception). very pleasant but not all that moving in any particular way, just vibey. Anything Goes is my favorite cuz i like fallout 🤓

Pleasant 50s noise. I like sinatra but I don't love sinatra 5.7/10

I'm sure it's influential and all. 5 slow jam pt1 out of 10 mind fuzz

Not really my cup of tea

My initial thoughts are that the whole album feels very wholesome, the songs are great, simply not something I would listen to on an everyday basis. Sinatra's voice is very soothing to listen to and his music gives me an itch to grab a partner and dance with them. :)

If I found someone who despises Sinatra then they'll have to go in the dumpster. Nice of him to make an easy listenable able but every song sounds the same.

Es lo que esperas de un álbum de Frank Sinatra. Sonido clásico con letras bonitas y una gran presencia de la voz. Objetivamente está bien hecho pero personalmente se hace repetitivo.

Classic Sinatra.

15 songs fly by. Most feel samey. Nice voice of course but not very interesting for me. Low 3

It’s catchy swinging jazz, no more no less. 7/10.

3.1 This was a fun listen, gets you in the romantic root. Every song, structure wise sound the same but if it works it works. Frankie hog at it again. I sent one song from it to pookie. Notable events of the day Work: Had meeting about planner from microsoft support person. Personal: On call with pookem after the meeting and yapped. Then KK called and we yapped about consciousness.

Oh boy, Frank Sinatra is back with another album on my journey, pretty much exactly 3 weeks after I last heard him on here. The last album was so miserably bad I almost ended up giving it a 2. It just sounded very rapey, and it came out more than 10 years after this album, so I kind of thought I was going to be in for more of that here. The album in question was Frank Albert Sinatra And Antonio Carlos Jobim, which absolutely does not roll off the tongue. With an album name like Songs For Swingin' Lovers!, I was really bracing myself for more of the same. Instead, I got a much better album, and substantially less rapey sounding. Noted, the context/subtext behind a few of the songs maybe isn't amazing, but whatever. "Makin' Whoopee" in particular makes me want to jump from the highest bridge I can find. I was substantially less creeped out listening to this one as a whole though. However, I was still bored out of my freaking mind. This music has a rightful place in history. Does it deserve to be on this list? Absolutely!! Songs like "You Make Me Feel So Young" and "I've Got You Under My Skin" are classics, the ladder being my favorite song on the album. Do I want to listen to them? No. No I do not. Do I want to listen to an entire album that consists of 44 minutes of what is essentially the exact same dated song? Also no. But hey, it was better than his later stuff apparently. It would not surprise me even a little bit if this is his absolute peak musically. If anything, this album really makes me want to go back and give the last one I heard a 2. This one is leagues better. I've got one more Frank Sinatra album to go, and it's the oldest album in the entire book. So yeah, I am fully expecting it to sound more or less the same as this, but even more dated and boring. Not the biggest fan of Frank Sinatra's music. I acknowledge it has a huge spot in music history, but don't enjoy actively listening to it all that much. Another pretty low 3 from me, but definitely not a 2. Call it a 3.35/5.

Smooth great song writing great delivery great arrangements just a bit mono paced in terms of dynamics.

Frank Sinatra is an artist that I need to be in the mood for, but when I am he melts my heart. I'm sure it surprises no one that I had a Wee Small Hours phase in high school, or that I sang My Way at karaoke my first night at university. Songs for Swingin' Lovers! is unfortunately an album that does not do nearly as much for me, even when I am in the mood for Sinatra. Swing has never been my thing (hehe), always being drawn to more intimate jazz settings as opposed to big bands. You Make Me Feel So Young is a great track to start the album off, but aside from that very few tracks feel as special to me as others off his records from around the same time. I can't help but compare a lot of the standards to versions I like way better, and in general I think the selection here does not compliment Sinatra's capabilities nearly as well as other albums like Songs for Young Lovers do. I'll admit my bias against swing plays a big part in my relatively negative perception of this album, but I think Sinatra evolves his style much more over the next decade. For this album to be considered more noteworthy than many other far more poignant records doesn't check out for me. Songs for Swingin' Lovers finds a home inside Olive Garden, which coincidentally is like the album in many ways. Bland, noisy, and zero chance of romance even though it feels like there should be.

Good album overall. The lyrics feel kind of sappy but maybe that's just what music was like in this decade.

Favorite: Old Devil Moon Least Favorite: You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me Overall Rating: 7.5/10 A bit repetitive but good vibes overall.

It sounds like an episode of mad men

Nice to learn more about Frank Sinatra, I listened to a few albums of his with this listen. Pleasant, but not being a big lyrics guy it does lack a bit of sonic diversity. 3*. Music has come a long way.

Yup, that's Frank Sinatra alright.

Some of the orchestration still feels corny to me, but the guy has a great sense of timing and an iconic voice.

This is old, but not outdated. I think it definitely stands the test of time. He has a good voice and the music reminds me of old Pixar movies. This album is nostalgic even though I had only heard a couple songs before.

It was fine. Maybe that whole crooner schtick is just old now. I liked it but I’m in no rush to revisit it

this was good and i thought about swinging with my lover but it is just not the vibe for a walk on a sunny day through the city

The songs were mostly fine, and luckily they’re all short so if you aren’t liking one just wait a minute and it’ll likely be over.

I understand why people gravitate toward Frank Sinatra; this record is mellow and relaxing and Frank has a great, easygoing voice. It really is great, non-offensive background music. It doesn't offer much more than that though, at least not for me. This is fine for a piano bar or for working on something else where I need some background noise without it distracting me. But I can't really see this as something that I'd seek out for any other purpose. It doesn't really illicit any real excitement from me, even if it is enjoyable enough. 3/5

Mr. Sinatra has a good voice, but his timbre is exactly the same across his full range. The singing sounds monotonous, even though it isn't. I don't hate any of the songs, I don't love any either. Favorite song: old devil moon

Swingin’ song by a Swingin’ Cat. Soon there will be shooby shooby doobie doin’ a happening!

I mean, he's good, but it's just not really my thing.

Solid, swingin’, great musicianship, a nice kind of aural wallpaper, but not OH MAN, WHAT IS HAPPENING

Great band backing; smooth vocals (as expected); not really my taste, but great music is still enjoyable; a lot of classics on this album, 'You Make Me Feel So Young' always makes me think of Elf and Christmas. Favorite Song (for this listen): either 'Old Devil Moon' or 'Pennies From Heaven'

Too jazzy

gad sehr lust uf frankieee hmm lyrisch überzügts mich sicher nöd unglaublich hahahaha, isch sehr schnell usglutscht jaa es isch cute, es lauft, aber nöd meh iwie CHEESEBURGER HAMBURGER WHOOPER oder wie au immer das video gaht hmm clt liits au ah spotify aber d blöser tönet mengisch SEHR blechig OUH beachboys vergesse uppsi naja uf jede fall hani schwierigkeite, zum das würkli nöd gern haa, aber han villes chli langwilig gfunde. s gfühl isch immerno schön wosmer git aber jo

He shines here, incredible voice, croony and a little cheeky, instrumentation is fun. This makes you want to dance. It feels like he is putting something of himself out there, a little vulnerable and enthusiastic. If you were very cool in the 50s you would have been going out to this

Hard to rate due to how ubiquitous Sinatra is as a singer, but he did offer to have Woody Allen's legs broken so I can't in good conscience rate this any lower than a 3.

I'm not sure what there really is to say about this album. We all know Sinatra and what his music was all about. Smooth baritone, swinging tunes, and just generally pleasant to listen to. It probably "deserves" a higher rating than a 3 because obviously Sinatra was so good at what he did, it's just that what he did was a style of music that I and most of the rest of society largely got over years and years ago. These days it's music to fall asleep to. So, I can't really justify giving a higher rating to something I know I'm never going to actively listen to again. Favourite tracks: Anything Goes, Makin' Whoopee, Old Devil Moon

I've heard several of these songs before, and obviously Frank Sinatra's voice is smooth and iconic. However, as a critic, he has a pretty limited range, and only one sound. In the time period, that was fine, but looking back, it all sounds the same and runs together. 5/10

A bunch of hits. The lyrics are great, I can see why he was a heartthrob. I think it's undercut by the genre somewhat; I'm predisposed to just not take crooning seriously. Biggest critic as I attempt to actively listen is that the album is a bit of a blur. Each song seems to have the same music behind different words.

Ok but boring

Pronto né I've heard this before Bom saber.. que almost every frank sinatra song.. sounds the same 👍👍👍

As músicas kinda parecem todas iguais ngl, mas tipo gostei de ouvir na mesma

I almost got through this. Luck be a lady is amazing

So. Always loved Frank Sinatra mainstream songs. However. Listening to this was definitely an experience. With tracks like You Make Me Feel So Young alongside Pennies From Heaven and I've Got You Under My Skin, it's hard to fully dislike this album. With that being said, songs like Makin' Whoopee and Swingin' Down The Line were pretty boring and wasn't a huge fan. Overall, strong start with some okay songs in between a few other bangers.

easy listening

I’ve always liked Sinatra’s voice, so this was very enjoyable to listen to! The songs, however, don’t sound all that different from each other and all kind of blend together. So not the most exciting, but pleasant nonetheless.

Not my cup of tea

How did this one get onto the list? It is older than me! Nelson Riddle provides the orchestration and all the big band sounds of the 1940s and 1950s. Sinatra does his usual top notch singing, although after several tracks they all seemed to blend together.

Some of my best friends are Swingin' Lovers! I assume there are no musical soundtracks on this list, so maybe this is the closest we'll get (based solely on the album cover). Not enough popular songs have a full orchestral accompaniment. Plus, such clear vocals! The songs themselves are whatever, but the performance is great. (Yes, I do have Michael Bublé albums, what about it?) I could not believe there was a song on here called 'Makin' Whoopee', but it turns out the Newlywed Game meaning actually came *after* this song, not before, and it used to just mean "to enjoy oneself in a boisterous manner". Highlight: 'Anything Goes'

Mostly pleasant, very samey. It's alright.

It’s really good. Just very samey.

Its a Sinatra album. Don't know what else to say.

Classic Sinatra. Some of the songs haven't aged well, but I can't deny that most of these songs are just good. It's not music I would have on repeat unless I'm in a very specific mood. But I do enjoy me some Sinatra. 5/10.

I definitely prefer Sinatra when he’s in his love songs bag, but I can’t possibly give an album with “Makin’ Whoopee” anything higher than a 3.

This album title seems to have aged... not poorly, but interestingly. It seems a usual release for Sinatra, a collection of covers of popular songs, mostly from musicals. He's a great singer, and the arrangements make for fun jazz-pop. I think it's pretty good, but not a style I love.

All the songs sound very similar but not of them are bad. Makes me feel like I'm in a smoky club in the 50's.

Kind of same-y but I have a real soft spot for old school crooners so I'm not complaining

This is #day463 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and… who doesn't like some Frank Sinatra? This record, which also happens to be my last album from 1956, represented on the list, is all-out '50s: big band, swinging jazz, and the unmistakable crooning of the Chairman of the Board. It can be hard to tell the songs apart, aside from a handful of all-timers like "I've Got You Under My Skin" and "How About You?"; it all kind of blends into one song/story, but I'm fine with that. We'll see what his other two albums have in store. This is a 3 out of 5. Looking forward to #day464.

Not for me

3ish it’s samey and I don’t know how much id revisit but I like it

Swing! Big band! Frank!

I'm sure it was popular back in the day. More or less wallpaper music for me personally though.

How can anyone be THIS in love. It was a good album, but like most Sinatra, it's going to sound about the same every song. 3/5

Very classic feel, timeless stuff. Not something that absolutely floors me but this will always be around and is a great listen

All songs pretty good. No real stand outs for me though. Nice music, but I doubt I'll ever queue it up intentionally.

Oh, to be an ol' fashioned swinger.

As others have said - 45 minutes of the same song. Not offensive, just not extraordinary.

Easy listening

Gotta be one of the easiest listens ever.

This is a good Frank Sinatra Album. I think I prefer Live at The Sands myself. Frank is a bit tainted for me because of how much boomers love him due to their overdeveloped sense of nostalgia.

Streit

Gir meg julestemning, og litt fallout vibes. Hadde ingenting imot å høre på albumet på vei til jobb, men tror ikke jeg ville satt den på igjen.

Exactly what I expected from Sinatra

Une grande voix, mais bon toujours un peu pareil, pas de gros coup de coeur, et pas une grande fan de cette décennie en musique donc bon.

*1956. 10th studio album. *A couple notable songs. *This is just quintessential Frank. RATING - 7/10

This is more my speed with Frank. Kinda goofy bravado, selling bad lines, doing his best with his kinda limited range/affect (breathing a problem? on Marvelous for Words at the end - a modern recording would surely punch in rather than leave that performance intact).

I don’t always listen to old school crooner jazz… but when I do, chances are it’s going to be ol’ blue eyes.

Genre: Standards Frank’s got a nice voice, and lovely full bands behind him at all times. And I know this stuff really hits for some people, but not for me. Easy to listen to, but I personally don’t need to again. Also, to all the pearl clutching happening in the 60s with rock and roll, Frank was literally singing a song called Makin’ Whoopee. Doesn’t get any less innuendo than that. 3/5

I liked this more than other Sinatra albums. 3.5 rounded down.

Honestly this felt like banger after banger for this genre. I knew most of these just from cultural osmosis. It is also the case that while I was thinking “oh another incredible jazz standard delivered with impeccable skill by the best guy ever at this,” I was also thinking “3…3…3.” So I think we’ve determined what the highest possible rating is, for me, for this type of music: 3/5.

Þægileg að hlusta á og skemmtileg orðnotkun hjá honum

Sveiflandi swing. Bara gaman.

The sound got a little monotonous, but it's Frank!

I can’t remember if this is the second Sinatra album or if we’ve had more, but I think this should be enough. It’s not bad! Sinatra was 1 of 1, his vocal presence is unmatched, etc etc. But you get the point after the first 10 songs. Silky smooth lyrical delivery, quintessential romantic backing tracks that are tightly performed. I’ll take “Too Marvelous For Words” from the pack of songs on this album. It’s a very happy, simple, fun take on a romantic song. Strong 3/5, if I was of an impressionable age when this album came out I’m sure it would be 5/5

Sinatra is fine, don’t really have a strong opinion on him. This is about as good as he gets for what that’s worth.

this album is literally Crooner triple platinum. Imagine getting the GOAT to remake the last 20 years of music. That’s what this must’ve felt like to its contemporaries. Insane. Old Devil Moon is the big time tho. I’m going to give it 3.5 stars and round down, bc it’s a cultural landmark and the encapsulation of an era at the end of its cycle of innovation, but doesn’t do anything new or exploratory. It’s old hat, but it’s a certified cultural artifact

Pretty good. Very Sinatra.

Objectively, every element of this album is fantastic. The big band accompaniment, Sinatra's voice, the arrangements. Subjectively, I'm almost never in the mood for Sinatra, though. Small doses in movie soundtracks? Sure. That's where I've heard half the tracks on this album. I'm almost never going to sit down and listen to a whole album of it. Objectively: 5 stars for the quality of arrangements and performance Subjectively: 2 stars for the overall enjoyment. Will average the two to get 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding down to 3.

Just finished this album up at work, it's classic Sinatra.. Only problem is I need suppress the urge to pour a glass rye, light up a Lucky Strike and call my female coworkers "Doll" or "Broad".

Such a great voice! Such dumb songs.

This is a pretty good album of Frank Sinatra classics and standards. It's good, just shy of great. I enjoyed it, would probably be a 3.5 if I could do that, but since I can't and I probably wouldn't choose to put this on, I'll round down.

I liked it well enough, It's just that ai think it sounds like he didnt give it a lot of thoughts, it has some good songs but most if them are mediocore

I liked this album bcs it truly evokes the passionate love that anyone feels at the start of a relationship. It's full of hope, it's tender and pure like a warm hug from a beloved. And pure love penetrates to your skin and becomes a part of u, like u can feel it under your skin. I love the album ends with a question, leaving us wondering.

Pleasant but kinda samey.

I like Anything Goes for nostalgia reasons, so it gets 3 stars instead of 2, because the rest of this is patently uninteresting to me. I like Sinatra's voice, but it feels like background music exclusively.

some famous songs but just not something i get into

Classic big band music with lyrical word play. Standard Frankie

One of a kind voice

It's hard to find anything to complain about for any one song on this album. Sinatra's voice is of course very good, and the perfect fit for these swinging songs. He's loose and able to make the songs feel effortless and airy. The music is jazzy and light. The lyrics are quite good, with the opening lines of tracks 4 and 5 especially standing out. A couple tracks near the end feel a bit quaint 70 years later, but the music otherwise doesn't sound dated outside of inspiring a subconscious association with old movies. So the songs are good, but as an album? A little variety would certainly help, as by the end it feels like you've already heard these songs before. This would be great to listen to in an elegant ballroom at a party. But just sitting down to listen to on its own? It doesn't work quite as well.

Silky, swinging, smooth jazz with Ol Blue Eyes smooth as silk voice is still very much a product of its time but that doesn't make it bad. Most of his hits are here & they sure are swell. The others are swell as well but still suffers from sounding all the same. I've said it before: If you don't like the ONE song they play DIFFERENTLY, you're in for a bad time. If you do, you'll love it. I enjoyed the album much better than the Frank's Sad album that is on the list but it's still a 3.

I absolutely recognize these songs are good, but growing up Italian-American you hear A Lot Of Frank Sinatra. It's hard to separate the music from so much personal context.

A hell of a voice, but it’s really hard for me to separate it from the deeply unpleasant guy attached to it. And another one where a little goes a long way for me.

One of the earliest albums on the list, it feels very out of place with most of the other albums. There's nothing wrong with Sinatra, his voice is good, but this doesn't feel exceptional. It's hard to believe, but the lyrics of popular music in the 50s were even cornier than the lyrics of today's pop. I don't hate this, but it's not really interesting to me either. The cool, swinging, jazzy good times just wear smooth after a few songs. I always liked the song Anything Goes...probably has to do with Kate Capshaw's rendition at the beginning of Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom.

For all del

eww happy couples eww

A little bit one note but overall I enjoyed this. Frank's vocals (obviously) sound great and his backing band give all of these songs a really infectious energy. Probably not something I'd return to but maybe take a couple of tracks from this for a playlist

Swing verging on pop with some great melodies and arrangements and of course Frank's voice. Great tone and made a change from the more ballad heavy albums of that era. Not the best album title ever but worth a listen

Extremely one note but extremely good at that one note. My north jersey heritage feels bad giving this a 3 but 🤷🏼‍♀️

It's fine, I guess. Not much place for this stuff in my life.

whoop-tee-doo. pleasant enough but it felt like it dragged because there’s so little variation in sound. i bet this sounded fire in 1956 though and i can appreciate that.

fine...i'm never THAT excited for frank sinatra but there's also never anything objectionable about it. to me his music is the lowest common denominator in that it's generically pleasant enough that no one's going to be mad if it's on. it's hard to appreciate this for anything other than background music you'd hear at an italian restaurant which is not his fault necessarily...but it's also not particularly thrilling to me in 2025.

Its good but gets a bit same-ey after a few tracks.

Classic, elegant and lovely. The voice of Frank is timeless.

a voz masculina mais bela do planeta. meu paizinho.

Chilled easy listening, and when one of Frank’s songs comes on, you can’t help but get drawn into it. BUT, a whole album of songs all starting to sound the same, is a bit too much. Giving this three stars is about fair in my view

6.5/10

Perhaps the most classic of all voices from his era. Every song is great, if not a bit formulaic. Perhaps a touch of weak lyric writing, but always pleasant

Frank Sinatra's music is timeless. Something I love about old recordings, specifically Sinatra's, is that they feel so close. Listening to this album felt like I was in the room with the musicians. Recorded music tends to be so produced now, which isn't always a bad thing, but this album definitely made me wish there were more efforts to simplify the process sometimes. Of course, as is the case with most older music, this wasn't the most exciting listen, and the songs did seem to mimic each other at times. Even then, Sinatra's silky vocals and intentional lyrical delivery made me return to this album a few times after my first listen. I especially enjoyed his rendition of Anything Goes. He took a classic song and completely made it his own with only minor changes. Sinatra was a master at singing like he was conversing. He really communicated with his listeners, and there's a joyful lightness to the way he interpreted the words of songs. At a time when most songs were written by writers instead of the artists themselves, he took great care of other people's work and did his due diligence as a vocalist. Despite the fact that this isn't my exact type of album, Sinatra ensured that I, along with all of his listeners, spent the 45 minutes listening to this album fully immersed in the stories he was telling.

Frank Sinatra's voice wasn't as good as people praise it. There, I said it. The songs are catchy, and remind me of New York City on a Summer night, but they're not distinguished enough. My rating is actually generous. Favorite Track: "Makin' Whoopee".

Idk these songs sound pretty monogamous to me

this was quite chill and vibey

Ok def some bangers on here I feel like a lot of annoying people I know love Frank Sinatra though. What's that about

same ol' Sinatra things

Felt as if I was inside a Disney classic

Yes, this guy is trying to get into your grandmother’s pants. But the band sounds great, and every single one was tracked live with vocals. THE Crooner. Pretty cheesy material, but that was the style at the time.

Not my favorite collection of Sinatra songs, but it was okay.

It is an iconic voice and sound, but I am just not fully on board with the crooning genre.

Makes me feel like a proper civilised adult. I want to go to a bar and order Jack Daniel’s

Frank Sinatra's voice is amazing and he's definitely one of the most important singer of all time. But, I am not a big fan of jazz, so I couldn't really fall in love with this album. It's easy to listen to, but not my thing.
