Not my cup of tea
Good. Fun. Classic
Streit
Obviously a very good singer but all the songs sound the same
The definition of easy listening. Beautiful voice, most songs sound the same.
6/10he’s a prick but you’ve got to give it to him he’s a bloody good singer, didn’t write any of these songs so i’m not giving him credits for lyrics, but he is genuinely the voice of the 50-60s era and everyone knows it, which is one of my fav genres anywhere, he has a beautiful voice but like i’ve said before his songs are all repetitive so can’t give him too much, decent album but if u want this vibe there are many others i’ve got u under my skin
45/1089 instantly recognisable with You Make Me Feel So Young putting this on in the background while i cook was the perfect decision, it’s so smooth and naturally his voice is stunning this album is the perfect example for why i’m doing this because even though i may not listen to it again due to taste, it’s such quality and actually was amazing for the context i listened to it in (cooking tea) also discovering Sinatra has a song called “Makin’ Whoopee” was so worth it 3 stars or 65/100 (i could definitely use it as a cooking album again) faves: Anything Goes (duh!) Too Marvelous For Words and You Make Me Feel So Young
This is a very upbeat and enjoyable album. I knew a few songs before the listen and Frank always has that smooth voice.
There’s no denying Sinatra has a tremendous voice. How I feel about listening to him usually comes down to my mood on any particular day, and that feeling ranges from trying to croon along happily to cringing at the dark, misogynistic tendencies of the era this style so smoothly glosses over. Today, I will try not to be cynical about the “aw shucks” innocence of these lyrics and just accept them at face value.
That I have heard a better sung version of most of these songs is a testament to their quality. The orchestration is good and Sinatra is not as over the top as he can be, but that doesn’t make this a great album. I’d rather hear Crosby or Bennett do these songs. Too safe to round up.
Iconic voice and the music's not bad. Big band sorta sound? Maybe medium band? But most of the songs sound pretty similar.
No es mi estilo pero puedo apreciar la calidad de este disco.
Classic Sinatra. Not really many of the crazy hit classics though. Talks about love a lot.
Really have to be in the mood to listen to something like this nowadays. Lots of classics tho
I'll give it this: for the most part, this is more upbeat than some of his more sleep-inducing tracks/albums. If I had to listen to Frank, this is the one I would probably go for. But at the same time, a lot of the songs sound similar, and because of that it seems longer than its 45 minutes. In the grand scheme of albums, this one has to at least be in the middle, right? (I almost used mid-pack, but that seems like an insult, haha). 3 stars, whatever.
I hate that I kinda like the orchestra on this. Why does this have to be a Frank Sinatra record?
Good, but not my style. Feels like ambient music for a dumb coffee shop.
Never knew Old Blue Eyes was an orgy guy.
It's Frank. You know exactly what you are going to get with him. There are no surprises here. He's got a smooth voice and it just feels cool. The music is dated but yeah it was recorded in the 50's you aren't getting away from that. Like his other albums they all kinda blend together. Not a bad listen at all, just the same. Honestly though, with him you are better off finding his greatest hits album and get allllll the bangers right there. No good reason to pick up the individual albums unless you decide you are a fan.
Oh Frank, I feel like I say this often, but he truly has one of the most recognizable voices. Thisnwould be a great album for a turntable as you can just play it through and enjoy the background music. Just easy listening and enjoyable! Need I say more? Favorites: - You Make Me Feel So Young - Too Marvelous For Words - I've Got You Under My Skin
Lots of classics. Doesn't seem like an album project
The other half of Sinatra's coin, the big show-y swing numbers. A welcome change of pace from his more downbeat and reflective albums, this is like the party music of the era. I do marvel at how long swing dominated mainstream culture, it started in the 20's (!) and lasted pretty much until it was taken over by rock & rock in the latter half of the 50's. Not much to say about the album, great song selection, some iconic Sinatra tracks here, very fun and entertaining, and obviously immaculately performed. Key tracks: You Make Me Feel So Young I've Got You Under My Skin
Fun! A formula that is timeless and works like a charm. After 45 minutes I was a little bored but it was super fun. Nice job Frank!
Didn’t do anything for me I fear. This is the happy fun pop version of Sinatra that can be great but to me every song on this sounds p much the same… sorry!
probably going to get some flack for my rating, but I find that Sinatra is just fine. he has an incredible voice, i can't deny that. however, i do find a lot of the lyrics from this time period are just so simple. to me, this is good dinner party music to have on in the background, but its nothing i would personally seek out myself to listen to. i understand why Frank has his place in history, and I understand the effect he had across the world... but its just never the sound ill be looking for on my own.
It might be because I’m sleep deprived but I had a good time with this one
Love his voice and the accompanying instruments are perfect for him. The tragedy of this album is that all the songs are ROUGHLY the same depsite them all being good individually. Its like eating crab for 10 meals straight. Also is it just me that thinks it sounds weirdly "Christmas-y?" Favourite Song: You Make Me Feel So Young Honourable Mentions: Love is Here to Stay, I've Got You Under My Skin, How About You?
pretty good. "anything goes" activated me like a sleeper agent back to fallout 3
2,5
til: a new ancient euphemism for boinking sorry sinatra i’m glad i listened to this and you sing nicely but i would literally never listen to this album for fun
This is alright but Sinatra and the Rat Pack have done better.
I wonder in the 50s' this meant what I'm thinking it means now. Every one of these songs sound the same but not in a bad way.
Okay, nothing special.
Brings back memories of my parents.
I've never listened to this album (1). It was okay, a bit repetitive.
Some classics on here but everything kind of sounds the same.
Good songs. Not really my style, but I can see why Frank stood out above his contemporaries.
Musique de Noël Les chansons sonnent toutes pareil, mais c’était enjoyable. Ces chansons d’amour sont différentes des chansons style « i thought about killing my gf 😾 » de Kanye lmao
Trying to not grade on the curve cause it’s Sinatra so I give it 3 stars. Very well produced and performed. But like the EDM record from the other day it is a lot of the same thing over and over. I’d listen again though.
Lounge music
Love Frankie. This isn't his best work.
I appreciate Sinatra’s voice, but have always felt that no matter what song he is singing, it becomes a Sinatra song. He has a particular inflection and cadence that is unmistakable, but for me, I want a singer that truly interprets the lyrics for me, so that their voice becomes a medium to bring out the depth, joy, pain, or playfulness of a songwriter’s craft. I always hear and feel Sinatra being Sinatra, which is pleasant, but not compelling. I think the reason My Way and New York New York are two of his biggest hits is that you can hear that he is feeling those from somewhere deeper than simply performing. Great voice - good listen - but when I listen to anything from the American Songbook, I want Ella Fitzgerald to be singing, just can’t help it
Breezy, fun album of standards from ol' Blue Eyes that, while an enjoyable listen, started to sound like the same song over and over. Hey, when it works, it works.
So many of these are essentially the same song, but its a perfectly pleasant, silky smooth song. Would never typically listen to an entire sinatra record for that reason, but I enjoyed it fine, especially You Make Me Feel So Young, Too Marvelous for Words and Pennies from Heaven. Also enjoyed hearing ol' blue eyes crooning the words 'silly gigolos'
Good album. Very classic vibe. 6.3/10
this was good but i never want to hear making whoopee again in my life
this was cute
If Frank is your jam, this is great. Just solid old timey music. 3/5
Too much of a virgin to appreciate
Sinatra’s charm is in full swing here — literally. 𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯’ 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴! is upbeat, flirtatious, and musically pristine, with Nelson Riddle’s orchestrations offering stylish, danceable backdrops to every track. It’s a showcase of mid-century cool, where romance always comes with a wink and never a tear. But while the mood is consistent, it’s also a bit one-note. The emotional range stays firmly in the register of suave lightness, which can make the album feel less dynamic or involving over time. It’s easy to admire, a bit harder to love deeply. Still, as a polished expression of post-war optimism and vocal finesse, it more than earns its place in the canon.
Fantastisk vokalist. Bra album, men blir litt lite variert i lengden. Sterk 3’er.
Really fun, lighthearted album. Nothing phenomenal, just good fun.
Classic big-band style Frank hits. Lots of songs I've heard before. Definitely nice to listen to- his voice and style are timeless. Overall- good album
- Cadence is very similar in every song. - Instrumentals are very much feel-good.
Fun. Not the context I wanna listen to it in. 3/5
7/10
I love it sonically and he can sing but this grows very tiring very quickly
“You Make Me Feel So Young” is a classic. “It Happened In Monterey” is real nice and underrated. “You’re Getting to Be a Habit With Me” is a tad gimmicky. “You Brought a New Kind of Love to Me” is cute, but forgettable. “Too Marvelous for Words” is just bad. I just don’t prefer these versions of “Old Devil Moon”, “Pennies from Heaven” (no macaroni?), and “Love Is Here to Stay”. “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” is another solid classic. “I Thought About You” has a defined vibe, but ultimately drags. I enjoyed “We’ll Be Together Again”. “Makin’ Whoopee” is the worst track on this album. “Swingin’ Down the Lane” is a nice deep cut, but there’s a reason it isn’t more well known. “Anything Goes” goes to show that he can really butcher a classic. “How About You?” is a lovely closer to this album. Wraps it all up nicely. This is Frank Sinatra at, perhaps, his most comfortable. That’s fine, but never great. 3/5
Ja, ist schon cool. Aber nur für eine bestimmte Stimmung. Würde ich nicht „zwischendurch“ hören => 3 Sterne
As others have pointed out, the casual listening nature of this album makes it very enjoyable. There is something magical about Sinatra's voice and the jazz arrangements are on point. a great 6/10 album
3.5
Fun, but gets quite repetitive after a while. 3.5/5
Good for listening to while crocheting
i dont love
Good, but not the greatest from Ol' Blue Eyes
Can imagine this hitting different when you’re in love
This is a very nostalgic album from my Frank Sinatra phase in high school — but missing many of my faves.
Pretty boring and one dimensional frank album. There is so much more to him then this.
Listened in the truck via YouTube music. Emilia seemed to enjoy. Has a lot if the hits. The most dated one is Makin Whoopee. Just sounds ridiculous.
Pretty decent swing album. Guess that sums up Sinatra's whole career. 6/10
Favorites: You Make Me Feel So Young, You Brought A New Kind Of Love To Me
Some great classic songs, great voice and wonderful arrangements.
it was enjoyable and sounded nice (ofc it is its THE frank sinatra) but i dont feel like ill ever have the urge to relisten to it sooo yeah
Fun, but not my cup of tea 3
so many classic songs, some better than others.
this is pleasant enough to listen to. there’s other jazz i like more, and every song sounds the same, but it’s very easy listening and i can see why it appeals to the masses.
Holy horns
Dude's good for christmas vibes but one of the most one dimensional singers I know.
Best of its Era Definitely doesn't hold well with age but is good for what it is.
Decent background music
Perfectly pleasant but not my style. 3 stars, great voice.
Frank Sinatra is one of those artists which I really should have listened to by now, but just never got around to it. I found it hard to comment much about each individual song. It was all very nice and pleasant to listen to, but honestly I feel like you can get away with picking almost any song at random and you'd feel the same as with every other song for the most part. I don't know if that's necessary a criticism - again, it was all nice, consistently - but it also means not many songs particularly stood out. You Make Me Feel So Young is super nice, and cosy in a way. Perfect song to start on. It Happened In Monterey had a bit of a weird start and end to it in my humble humble opinion, but the rest is decent. You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me has some nice melodies and has a great rhythm to it. You Brought A New Kind Of Love To Me wasn't as interesting to me as the previous songs, but wasn't bad by any means. Kinda caught me off guard when it started out pretty smooth and halfway through got pretty intense instrumentally lol. At this point in the record I realised there wasn't much point commenting on songs individually. FAVOURITES - You Make Me Feel So Young; You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me; Love Is Here To Stay LEAST FAVOURITES - You Brought A New Kind Of Love To Me (if I had to pick)
I went into this expecting a decent consistent album, nothing mind blowing but good nonetheless. I can say, yeah, that's pretty much exactly what I got. I think after listening I felt that he's lucky his voice is good otherwise this wouldn't be a great time. Very consistent album, no real terrible song nor incredible stand outs. I don't think I have clear favourites or least favourites but here is an attempt. Best - You Make Me Feel So Young, Too Marvelous For Words, I've Got You Under My Skin Worst - It Happened In Monterey, You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me, We'll Be Together Again
En samling mediokra kärlekssånger som endast räddast av Sinatra's framförande. Trots Sinatra är det svårt att särskilja låtarna från varandra. Bakgrundsmusik.
Nothing mind blowing here but all of it is well done. Quintessential 3/5.
It was fine. Honestly, I found myself wishing someone else was singing the standards since everything felt too slow, too rubato
Very unoffensive, they started sounding very similar, samey around the end.
Its Frank Sinatra
yes frank we know you have sex
Very nostalgic sounding. Under My Skin is the classic one I know here, and Anything Goes, though I'm sure I've heard a lot of these other ones--Sinatra just kind of always sounds the same to me. I can't really say if good or bad, he's just an institution from a bygone era. This stuff all sounds pretty on point I guess, so Sinatra lovers wouldn't be disappointed. 3/5
I love Frank. Maybe a track or two, but a whole album. Its a bit like having a couple of your favourite biscuits, you wouldn't eat the whole pack.
I’m not really a fan of this kind of music but geez, Frank’s voice! That commands attention.
Album is a 2 and frank is a 5. Overall this probably deserves a 3.
Always fun... however homophobic and misogynistic...
The standard is the standard. Favorite: “Under My Skin”
He's very talented, but an entire album of this is a bit much for me. 2.5 stars.
Smooth
Not my favorite full Sinatra album to listen to in full, but has some classic tracks. Would put on for easy listening while cooking, but Sinatra has such a prolific catalogue that any of his compilation albums are almost always better to listen to in full.
I've never loved Sinatra. Obviously talented but doesn't get me super excited. You've heard one song on this album you've heard them all. Songs are sweet but not very deep. It's mixed well and is easy listening.
It's another one that, while clearly all made with a good voice, it's just not my thing. I like a couple of songs more because of cultural osmosis than actual appreciation, but damn Frank you sure knew your niche
I have to be in the right mood for this. It’s Frank Sinatra!
Niet geluisterd
Ton of bangers on here
Exactly what you would expect from both the artist and the title of the album, a bit samey throughout but that’s to be expected, it was all good though and the cover of anything goes by Cole Porter was a cool addition at the end. Wasn’t any particular favourites as they were all swing love songs with no specific standouts. Overall, 6.5/10.
Fav: You Make Me Feel So Young Least Fav: How About You? The Sinatra classic, individually great songs that grow tiresome on an album where songs have similar structures and repeat themselves ad nauseaum
Great music if you are in the mood for it. Jazzy, classic Sinatra in his peek. I will say it’s a bit redundant. Nothing ground breaking, just all time great crooning.
I don't really get the hype. It was fine. I liked "These Walls" and the transition to "u".
I was prepared to rate this higher, but finding out that it came out thesame month and year as the first elvis Presley lp makes it seem hopelessly old fashioned for music that teenage girls once went nuts for.
What I expected.
cute enough and frank sinatra has a great voice as always but i dont know if i would have thrived back then with this as the most popular music of the era
I like Frank Sinatra but this album just seem a little lack-lustre to me.
Not much to say, it's Sinatra. This doesn't do all that much for me, but nothing wrong with it
EDIT: Lazer Guided Melodies is an 8.5/10. I meant to add the rating at the end of the review. Favorites: You Make Me Feel So Young, I've Got You Under My Skin I used to like Frank Sinatra a lot more, and while he has grown off of me quite a bit, I still think that a good chunk of his songs are really good (notably My Way or The World We Knew). This album, unfortunately, was not that great. None of the songs were bad, but I didn't feel connected to the album and found myself bored for most of it. 6/10
Solid. Classic
I'm generally not a fan of mid century crooner music, but I'll try my best to give this a fair chance. Frank Sinatra does have a golden voice so maybe it'll be enough for me to find enjoyment here. Not really expecting much from this. You Make Me Feel So Young Unremarkable but pretty sweet. Goes by without a hitch, feels really pleasant and sweet. Not particularly exciting, but decent background music. Fine. 3/5 It Happened In Monterey The horns are quite obnoxious and the song itself is extremely repetitive. The delivery feels professional, but not exactly passionate or interesting in any way. Again, pleasant but nothing special. Average. 2.5/5 You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me Clunky. Good piano solo. I sort of like the instrumental bits, but it gets a bit boring after a while. Average. 2.5/5 You Brought A New Kind Of Love To Me I like the main vocal melody of the chorus. The lyrics are a bit average. Not getting much out of the instrumental. Average. 2.5/5 Too Marvelous For Words The premise is kinda cute I suppose. The "Webster's dictonary" line is charming. Fine. 3/5 Old Devil Moon There's some alright imagery here, I like the sort of enchanted undertones in the language they use. The chorus is kinda fun. Sinatra adds little to the song. Fine. 3/5 Pennies From Heaven Whimsical lyrics. Pleasant. Unremarkable. Average. 2.5/5 Love Is Here To Stay I guess it's sweet enough for a love song, but it's also boring as hell. Doesn't do anything to differentiate itself from the rest. Dislike. 2/5 I've Got You Under My Skin And for the next song we have the excact same thing as the previous 8 songs. I suppose the lyrics are about cheating or whatever which makes it slightly more interesting. Average. 2.5/5 Thought About You I zoned out and forgot I was listening to this. Guess I'll have to replay it. Some sweet romantic lyrics delivered in Frank Sinatra's trademark style, who would've guessed. The train theme is at least a bit different. Average. 2.5/5 We'll Be Together Again There's a saxophone part near the end that's pretty alright. Otherwise extremely boring. Dislike. 2/5 Makin' Whoopiee Kinda like the risqueness of the song. The ancient slang is pretty charming. Sinatra feels a bit flat on this song. Cute premise. Fine. 3/5 Swingin' Down The Lane A pleasant track with a bit of pace to it. Has some dancable qualities. Paints a fairly pretty picture. Nostalgic sounding track. Decent. 3.5/5 Anything Goes The values of this song kinda sucks, but when it comes to the original you can at least hear a clear distain and bitterness in Porter's voice. Here it's completely overridden by Sinatra's smooth delivery. Makes it lack personality. Dislike. 2/5 How About You? Nostalgic and sweet. Cute imagery. Fine. 3/5 A well constructed collection of very pleasant easy listening pop tracks delivered smoothly with a lot of class. Sinatra lends his trademark jazzy big band style to a series of sweet and charming love songs that remain reflective of the era. His sylish, characteristic voice provides a soothing experience that lifts your mood and provides you with a shining atmosphere for whatever activity you're doing. Is it bold, inventive or challenging in any way? No, but it's very accessible and nostalgic sounding with mostly relatable and sweet lyrics that reflect an idealized fantasy throughout the record's runtime. For an active listen it's not the most interesting thing in the world, and while Sinatra performs the songs well, they rarely feel like the definite versions of said songs. Still for a collection they work well, and feel very consistent quality wise. Pairs best with another activity, playing softly in the background when focused on something else. Unspectacular, a bit samey, but still charming and for the last time, pleasant. Decent for what it is. 3/5
I wasn't expecting to like this; I've never been a big fan of vocal jazz, but I enjoyed it. I've heard other Sinatra albums I didn't care for, but I was pleasantly surprised. Other Sinatra records I've heard usually have one or two good songs but aren't worth listening to the whole way through more than once, but I can see myself listening to this again sometime.
These are 15 songs sung by Frank Sinatra.
Ok, this was much better than the last Sinatra album I got. Out with the melancholy, in with the joy. I'm sure plenty of 50s lovers were swingin' 'round the dance floor to this one, as it was fun and lively. The shorter song lengths also made it a peppier listening experience since most of the tracks just breezed by. The album's 15 songs lasted less than 45 minutes, which felt like the right amount of time for it to play. There was the distinctly classic sound that you get with brass instruments and Sinatra's voice, which made is a pleasant listening experience. It feels like you're in an earlier version of New York when it plays. I had only heard a few of the songs on the album before, but they all felt familiar as a result. On the other hand, those details meant there wasn't much diversity here. Sometimes it was hard to tell whether I was listening to a different song, or if the previous one was still going. At one point I was on the third song since I'd last looked without realizing the first one had ended. That worked for the feel of the album, but did make it all kind of a general blend. I think the album ending when it did was smart, because any longer and it would've started to get old. It also sounded dated given the stuff mentioned above. Which was great for the vibe, but isn't something that would necessarily mesh with a broader playlist. In short, it was fun and lively with entertaining music, but it didn't really do anything special for me to say it was great. Vibes are important, just not quite enough on their own. It's something I enjoyed listening to, though I question how often I would want to come back to it. I think if Sinatra had combined some of the songs from Wee Small Hours and this one into one album, it would've been a much more interesting work that I could rate higher. Overall: 3.3/5
Good background music, a couple standouts.
While definitely a product of its time, it’s aged remarkably well in spite of this. Sinatra’s vocals still sound amazing, especially when coupled with the band. It’s just a shame that this album merely functions as a collection of songs and not a more cohesive experience. I still thoroughly enjoyed this though, in spite of the repetitive song structure.
Natal em maio?
I get it, it’s classy. But if charm were a sleeping pill, this would be prescription-strength.
Frank Sinitra's voice is always comforting as the songs is singing. It's always comforting to listen to his voice, so this album was definitely an easy and chill one to listen to. Pretty fun and happy vibes, liked this one but I won't listen to this everyday, not really my style even if it's cute ahah
Good stuff, makes me want to dance while I’m cooking dinner.
Classic for the right mood
Sinatra's voice is velvety smooth and sensual and beautiful. I'm not the biggest fan of this type of music so it did fall a bit flat to me, and I hate the fact that the word "whoopee" was not only in the song's title but in the chorus and repeated. It was a decent album, but middle of the road for me all things considered
Oldie but not bad. Classic Frank Sinatra
Classic
There are many good Sinatra songs but this album is lacking any of them for me. 3 stars or C-.
По большей части приятно. Лучшая песня - I've Got You Under My Skin.
Much more enjoyable and relevant than I thought.
Frank Sinatra definitely one of the greats. Solid album but it's older then my parents and so again - great songs to use as a backdrop for different media (movies etc) and I'm not going to balk at this if they play this in some establishment I am at, but I'm not going to be listening to this album on my own. He's got a magical voice that came to define an era. But also he didn't write any of his songs so I guess he was a great performer, but in my opinon maybe not a great artist? I don't think he ever experimented with new sounds or pushed artistic boundaries or explored different styles. Found a formula that worked, and just did that with different collaborators. Can't knock the hustle, but 3/5 for me.
the same song 15 times but its frank sinatra so it okay i guess. great singer but man this was boring ngl
What a voice. Enjoyed but a lot of the same
Sinatra is always an easy listen, the horns and the plungered trumpet with the silky smooth vocals is vintage. Nevertheless, even though Sinatra does what he does really well, the ceiling for his brand of music is pretty low. There isn't anything daring or dazzling about perfecting generic mid-century tunes. Not sure Sinatra can crack above 3.5 for me, so he's rounded down 3
Bring back songwriters honestly. Not that they don't exist anymore, but hearing Frank Sinatra croon like this reminds me how important it is to have someone to ACTUALLY SING THE NOTES CORRECTLY.
Stemmen til Frank Sinatra er som balsam for ørene, men det svinger ikke helt som mine preferanser tilsier.
Good for the time period, but I ain't a swingin' fella.
Good orchestra sound coupled to a timeless voice. It is inoffensive mood-setting music in my mind. The sort that takes you back to an optimistic perception of a period in history only few got to actually experience. I wasn't there for it. So as a mood, interesting. As active listening, dated and naive.
I’ve kind of struggled to get into Frank Sinatra. I can absolutely tell that he is one of the great singers, but his music doesn’t usually appeal to me, for the same reason that most other pop music doesn’t appeal to me: it just sorta sounds shallow and simple. It’s also hard to fully appreciate the complexity of the jazz ensemble when the center is around the simple lyrics and melodies that Sinatra sings. Favorite Track: We’ll Be Together Again
I mean… it’s Frank baby 🎶 a pleasant listen
It's exactly what it says it is. All the songs are utterly charming and completely interchangeable. Zero surprises, zero disappointments
Fav: It Happened in Monterey; You Brought A New Kind Of Love To Me;
Although no standouts for me, I actually really enjoyed this album. Its hard to not feel good whilst listening to it. That being said, 'Makin Whoopee' was not a pleasant listen.
You Make Me Feel So Young is a classic, if only because it was used in Elf. Sinatra didn’t compose it though, just sang a great version. This album flows so smoothly that the songs blend together, for better or for worse.
Great stuff from him but not really my thing. The songs are very samey and the lyrics are (obviously) dated. I can see myself listening to a good Christmas album from ol' Frank. Difficult to find another time i would listen.
If we should have nostalgia for anything we didn't experience from the 1950s, it should be singers whose voices sound like velvet and cigars. Not enough seduction these days.
Koselig
Pretty much a faultless album throughout. The album serves as a definitive mood listen, which removes some versatility. This would receive a 3.5 usually, but with the current scale will be rounded down to 3.
Ol’ blue eyes, classic, great music for making breakfast and dancing around with Quinn in the kitchen
Good laid back cooking dinner music.
The problem for me is all the songs start to sound monotonous. But giving it 3/5 stars for the nostalgia.
The old boy could sing. I shouldn't like this but I have just been entertained for over 40 minutes.
pleasant listen, all of his music sounds the same tbh
It's good, very Sinatra.
Sometimes these '50s albums feel like the soundtrack to a brunch where the pancakes are stacked too neat and everyone’s wearing suspenders for irony. Frank's voice is undeniably smooth, and the musical arrangements are lush in that clean, glossy way only the '50s could pull off. But man, it’s like biting into a plastic fruit - pretty, but not juicy. There’s no grit, no weight. It’s hard to find any emotional fingerprints on it. Everything’s just so tidy. It floats, but never dives. Honestly, it’s like a vintage filter on your ears. Spins: 2 Playlist Additions: - You Make Me Feel So Young - Love Is Here To Stay - I've Got You Under My Skin
Sinatra on taitava ja yksittäisinä biiseinä kivoja, mut ehkä albumi vähän liikaa. Silti 3/5. Kiinnostavasti huomasin et koska sinatraa on käytetty niin paljon kauhumediassa, on vaikeaa olla kuulematta täysin kuvitteellista synkkää pohjavirettä tässä siirapissa.
Pretty standard Sinatra. Most songs sound the same.
It’s very much your typical Sinatra work that’s not In the Wee Small Hours.
Amazing voice. Easy listening, like something you'd hear in a cafe. Not my thing, however. A lot of it all blended in together, with nothing really standing out.
Correcto
Niet helemaal mijn ding, maar snap wat mensen hieraan waarderen. Hij heeft een iconische en zeer herkenbare stem. Maar ik vind het wat te veel van hetzelfde.
Feels like xmas songs, slow and comfy. Moody dependant
It’s Frank. It’s good, but so were the last two Frank Sinatra albums on this list. Not certain of the significance of this one.
Even though this album is much older than I am it reminds me of being young and having hope. Therefore I hate it very much, but it's still good for what it is.
I prefer a sadder Sinatra myself-more September of My Years than Swinging Lovers. That said, the plug for safer sex in Making Whoopie is pretty hilarious. Man’s got some chops, that’s for sure. Properly 3.5.
None of these songs stuck out to me
Enjoyed it
I will agree with a lot of people on these reviews and say that the music is good, the singing is good, however when its 15 songs that sound almost the same they start to get tiring.
I like showtunes, or american schlager and I like to call IT. I especially prefer the lounge stuff, but big band versions are cool too. Sinatra is not my favourite, but he has a pretty cool style and bravado to his singing, that cannot be dismissed. I'll take Richard Cheese over Sinatra any day tho.
тоже обычный альбом синатры в его стиле, 50-е, без хитов, ровненько со вкусом
Its exactly what it says on the tin
Old Francis is undeniable but I’m not sure I’m the type of swingin lover that Frank meant this for
Frank is never bad, cuz he’s so consistent. Perhaps TOO consistent. 45 minutes of this is far too much. It’s just Frank Sinatra doing Frank Sinatra. It’s fun, it’s swinging, and easy breezy. But the buck stops there. And that’s just not enough for me. Making Whoopee was horrendous but worth a chuckle, but his cover of Anything Goes was probably my favorite.
Goddamn it we get Frank. This fine lady has stolen your poor old heart, yadda yadda. Any of those songs in isolation is a pleasant, wholesome listen. All of them together are a repetitive monotonous croonfest. This is a collection of songs more than a cohesive album. 7/10 Fave: I've got you under my skin
fedora's and whisky, big bands and misogny. las vegas and blah blah blah
Definitely not my style, sounds quite nice though. Probably won't be coming back, first thought 6.5/10.
I can’t not enjoy this in the background, in fact I hadn’t realized that Spotify had moved on to other albums until an Oscar’s Peterson track came on. So great background stuff for sure, even a few that I sang along to in my head, over all no complaints listening to this.
Very frank sinatra.
Couple bottles of wine. Homemade chicken parm. Watch something classic like Casablanca. Possibly finish a with a tobacco pipe on the porch.
i like some old people music but this isn’t rlly the type of old people music i’m really into lol
twas ok
It's albums like these that make you realize some people really just have the one trick repackaged over and over
fínasti swing-söngur. hlusta samt varla á aftur.
Of course he sounds unbelievable, he was basically the voice of a generation but I’d be lying if I rated it any higher than a 3. It was just a nice listen.
3. I enjoyed this more than his earlier album (on the list), but not quite a 4 for me.
3.5! Good fun. Can't get my head past it sounding like Christmas music though.
I found this to be a little underwhelming. I guess I'm neither swingin’ nor a lover. It’s all very nice, his voice is smooth, and the band is great, but nothing really captures me and the melodies are so meandering. standout track is: “Love Is Here to Stay”
It was fine - big band just doesn’t do much for me to rate it any higher than a 3 star.
It's kind of wild to be this far into this project and only just now be getting a Frank Sinatra album. Frank definitely had a "formula"; so many of these songs sound pretty similar -- similar pacing, similar arrangements, and ultimately similar subjects. But look, his voice is so buttery and backed by great sound (even if it is kind of repetitive), so it's hard to care too much. His music just undeniably evokes a mood of class. I'm definitely nowhere near the biggest Sinatra fan, but even I'm not immune to his charm.
it's sinatra, neither good nor bad, doesn't get in the way and is easy in the background while cooking or baking christmas cookies. it's just darn toothless
Nice enough. Can't picture a time where I'd want to listen to anything but a best of though
I don’t really know how to rate this. Didn’t hate it. Didn’t love it. I can respect it. I do feel like it loses its charm as it ages. It’s an album you’d listen to for nostalgia. But you’d be hard pressed to have another emotion while listening to this album.
I've had this in my queue a long time, but for some reason I couldn't stomach inhabiting the headspace of the legendary old Twinkle Tonsils. Then it came to mind I used to be a big fan of Harry Connick, Jr., whose voice and style tended to bear an uncanny resemblance to Sinatra's. At some point the luster wore away from Mr. Jr., and probably took down any residual enthusiasm I might hold for the Las Vegas Larynx.
It was okay, but not my cup of tea. I don't really like that style of music, and it grew old for me.
Already got this album
Finally, I got a Sinatra album today. The songs of his I've heard before listening to this album were all good. Who doesn't love Sinatra's singing? The main problem with "Songs for Swingin' Lovers" is that the songs have no variety. It would make this album much better. 3 stars for "Songs for Swingin' Lovers".

I am not ashamed that I have near more appreciation for jazz. Classical it may be, but not for me.
Beautiful voice and is interesting to hear a full album of his. Certainly, an era I've not listened to much of. Not my modern listening taste but it was a nice change of pace.
good. I like Frank Sinatra, but this album is not my cup of tea
If nothing else, I'm glad this album is on the list so I could experience the song "Makin' Whoopee" in the year 2025. Simply delightful. Sometimes unintentional comedy is the best comedy. I'm also glad that I was forced to listen to at least one Sinatra album in my lifetime. I'll never listen to this again, but I'm glad I did; I enjoyed it more than expected. 3.3
It's really just the exact same song 15 times in a row, but it's all endearing enough to get a pass.
great- lasts for a lifetime
Good background music, but it’s all the same. Gets a bit doom loopy about half way through when you realise you’ve been listening to effectively the same track 6 times already and there’s more to go.
Random thoughts: * Frank Sinatra is easy on the ears. There is a reason he's an all-American classic. * Never listened to an album by Frank before but this one was nice and mellow, I could see having a nice romantic dinner and playing this one again. * I hope my grandparents listened and danced to this music. I could almost see some of those old pictures of them come to life imagining this being played. * Makin' Whoopee is hilarious. I know it's probably not supposed to be funny but I found it quite humorous. * Anything Goes is also so good lyrically as Frank is complaining about all the vulgar words in use now and how ladies can show a bit of their stockings now. Shock! * This album captures a whole vibe of America that is long gone. But damn, what a good listen and way to have a time capsule.
Urgh. Awks. I don’t really see the point in rating this because this was a completely anonymous album for me, but it is blindingly clear why so many people still keel over for it (and for him)
Fine album. Frank Sinatra has a beautiful voice and the big band orchestra wonderfully accentuate his songs. A full album is probably a bit more of what I can stomach from a big band vocal artist though. Gotta give it some leeway since it's one of the very oldest albums on the list still.
Sinatra is the definition of mediocrity.
Niente di particolare da Franco “Non ho alcun legame con le elezioni presidenziali” Sinatra
Good, but a little too nostalgic sometimes.
Nice album. It was a good neutral listen. I can see how this would be banging back in the day.
It's crazy how technology has changed the ways music was recorded, back in the 50's it was set up so the live performance was recorded in studio without overdubs just like the band would do so in a concert hall, if someone made a mistake a take just wouldn't be good enough to be released. In just over 10 years Beach Boys and Beatles would go on to record some incredible albums compared to what was before. Crazy that an album like this(with so many studio session musicians) could only be made nowadays by a major label artist, maybe for the better(?) I've got you under my skin had 22 takes(not all of them were of the full song) before Sinatra was satisfied with his performance, what a bad luck for the trombone player. 6/10
this shit works on me. it's the kind of music that makes me do a little dance in the kitchen while I'm making breakfast. maybe give my partner a lil kiss. I guess I'm a swingin lover! with that said I don't think sinatra works in an album format.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Frank Sinatra, not least because I grew up with his voice as the backdrop to my childhood. My mother would play Sinatra in the kitchen while she cooked, filling our home with his smooth, swinging melodies. That nostalgic connection has forever linked me to his music, yet when I listen to Songs For Swingin’ Lovers! now, I find that while it brings back fond memories, it doesn’t fully meet my expectations as an adult listener. Despite these positives, there are notable drawbacks. The overall sound of the album feels very dated to me. Listening to it now, it seems like a relic from another era, and the style hasn’t aged as gracefully as I would have hoped. The songs, while technically sound, can come across as monotonous. There isn’t much dynamic variation in Sinatra’s delivery—often, his performance feels subdued, lacking the spark or excitement that might have been more engaging at the time. Moreover, the arrangements, although rich in detail, sometimes overwhelm the vocals rather than complementing them, leaving little room for the emotional nuances that I once connected with. The overall pacing of the album can feel sluggish, making it hard to stay fully engaged throughout its entirety. Songs For Swingin' Lovers! holds a special place in my heart because of the fond memories associated with it. My mother’s love for Sinatra introduced me to a world of smooth melodies and elegant swing, which I still admire from a distance. However, in my current listening experience, the album feels a bit like a time capsule. nice to reminisce over, but not something I would actively seek out. For me, it’s a solid 3.1/5 a nostalgic gem that unfortunately hasn’t quite kept up with the test of time.
6/10 It’s a Frank Sinatra album, it’s nice while it’s on, there’s hundreds of people working to make every song sound nice, hundreds of songwriters ensuring Frank has something to talk about, and Frank does his job. It’s sweet, it’s got some fuzzy parts, but ultimately it’s from 1956, we have yet to have an important Pop music structure, a good album structure, and songs that want to make sure you’re going out of your way to listen to them. Frank is important, and he was trying to be ahead of the curb, but unless you’re really into Traditional Pop music, he really is held back by his era. Did you know Frank Sinatra’s last words were "I'm losing it"? Isn’t that fucked up or what? Anyways, here’s Wonderwa
Would you believe me if I said “Makin’ Whoopee” is the best song on this record? It’s Frank Sinatra. That means it’s good on a baseline, but also, who the hell is casually listening to Sinatra on the daily? Especially happy/mentally stable Sinatra??? Like, there’s a time and place for the classic standards, like “My Way,” “Come Fly With Me,” and “New York, New York,” and I do think the sad-sap albums like Only the Lonely and No One Cares are great records, but for the rest, I don’t really think you need more than a greatest hits compilation. As a result, I feel like Songs for Swingin’ Lovers! is a weird example to include here, even though I know why it was included. It may be upbeat, but it’s also extremely dated, both socially and aesthetically, so it’s hard to enjoy by today’s standards. It may have cemented his popularity after Wee Small Hours, but it’s not the pinnacle his career, even as a Rat Pack party boy, especially in retrospect. It doesn’t really have any of the major hits we remember today from Ol’ Blue Eye’s long career. If you like traditional pop and swing music, sure, it’s not a bad album by any means. But it’s not special, it’s not going to change your mind, and I think there were better Sinatra albums to add instead, both from his catalog of depression records and his discography of fun dance records. But hey, “Makin’ Whoopee” is a surprisingly great gem to find, so worth it, I guess.
This record is fine and I like Sinatra but listening to similar songs consecutively is not my thing. Apparently I'm not a swingin lover.
Not really for me but there are some huge hits on this album
I have no idea if this is a controversial opinion but all Sinatra sounds the same to me. It's good stuff but I couldn't tell you what was better/worse about this album Vs the other ones I've had. With the only exception being that making whoopee is a shit title and not a great song
Pennies from heaven was driving me crazy until I realized it was popular on tiktok
good! dont really care about listening to a whole album of ole blue eyes, i think his music is more impactful individually
you should hear me do these songs
Pop in the most pure most schlocky form. It's not good but it is exactly what it should be. Out of date, dull and designed specifically to sell. It makes a lot of the decisions music from the 60's made make a lot more sense to me
pretty romantic, but in a dancing in the streets of paris way.
Not my cup of tea but it was fine.
I don’t dislike any of these songs, they sound beautifully arranged, paired with Sinatra’s soft vocals make these sound good. It becomes monotonous and repetitive when you hear the same sound every time.
Making Whoopee, a great song about fuckin' and it's consequences (spoiler alert, the consequence is children). It's Frank Sinatra, it's kind of hard to criticize. It's perfectly pleasant music from a different era. All the tracks glide one into another, which is probably intentional. Not my jam, but totally inoffensive. Pennies from Heaven is a stone cold classics. And Anything Goes is in Temple of Doom, so that song also gets a bump from me.
I would love to know what sorcery was used to get such a good sounding album out of 1950s recording equipment (compared to doo wop and early rock of the time) Best vibes for this would be to throw it on in the background of a classy dinner party, something I am not likely to experience personally. The two songs I had already heard (Make Me Feel So Young, Under My Skin) are the best of the batch, while everything else swingingly toes the line.
How do you rate music from this era? It really wasn’t designed for careful listening, it was for dancing or for parties where everyone was drinking Manhattans and smoking cigarettes. I love Frankie’s voice. The music is very well-arranged. “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” is one of the absolute best examples of the genre. So five stars for big-band 1950s vocal music, but it doesn’t make me feel much beyond mellowed out and wanting a smoke.
okay frank you got me this is a cozy lil album and you say making whoopee which is cool
Some truly great tracks on here, but I think there's more than a few duds.
3 Sterne
It was fine. Not really my style but I did enjoy some of the lyrics.
Weirdly resonates with how i feel things, I like it, would be a good listen under different circumstances
Creo que Frank Sinatra es un gran artista, entiendo el appeal que tuvo. Me gustó este álbum de baladas aunque resulta un compilatorio de canciones, que igual siguen siendo bastante buenas individualmente
Some songs lyrics are hilarious, easy to listen to and flows from track to track
Sinatra is a legend of course, but these songs all sound the same. The whoopee song was kinda funny though.
I enjoyed listening but not sure when I would listen again. I have no link to this music, beside of course Frank's great Christmas tunes
I get that this is a classic, I just find it pleasant but boring.
Like, but nothing really grabbed me except I’ve Got You Under My Skin. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It’s good. But I just can’t listen to Sinatra, Dean Martin anymore. It’s just too simple, no depth.
I can’t say I’ve ever listened to an entire Sinatra record before. Everything sounded familiar. Cheesy? Sure. Dated? Yep. Timeless? Maybe. Can something be dated and timeless? I think so. The big band horn swells after each line is a little much. The performance is great and Frank’s velvety vocals are spot on. Listened to it twice and that’s enough 3/5
Cozy background music.
Me aburre un poco Sinatra pero es agradable y canta como un chad.
Yep, that's a Sinatra album. It's good for what it is, some of these songs you pretty much can't avoid hearing in life, which means I know them. I don't mind listening to it, it's just nothing I'd normally put on for myself.
Franks a bit too overplayed and ubiquitous for me - guess I’m used to the classic canon and this felt mostly sub par by comparison.
it's an easy listen and probably deserves it's place on the list
Yep, sounds like Sinatra. Upbeat big band orchestration with his signature smooth vocals, it's exactly what you think of when you think of his music. Not something I particularly want to listen to often, but this is a very nice collection of songs when you're in the mood.
Better than I expected. Nice one Frank!
Cute, but the title makes it weird.
i mean it's frank sinatra. definitely lovely for a classy club vibe. also i love anything goes in general. just not something i'd come back to casually. also not really into the connotation of swinging lovers 😬
Nette, weniger bekannte Lieder. 2,6
A usual oldschool swing Sinatra record. While musically there is nothing to say, I just personally find this sort of music one dimensional and a tad bit boring. All of the songs are essentially the same except maybe one standout being Everything Goes. Don't have much of an opinion on this, good for those who are nostalgic of the 50s or just simply love Sinatra.
Starts off hot but drags on
Cozy
Great voice, but a bit samey. Could have done with a more diverse selection of songs.
A good listen that only suffers due to the passage of time. His voice is good and the instrumentals are nice, I just wish there was a bit more variety and less covers for the length. 3/5
Frank has a wonderful voice, making for a pleasant listen overall. The songs are relatively indistinguishable from each other and mostly blend together, however.
This one's a solid 3.5 but I HAVE to give it a whole number rating and I liked it but it's so much of the same thing to me and sounds very much like fancy hotel restaurant/elevator music to me so
Would listen to some of the tunes again. Could have been a little shorter in overall length for an album.
I’m torn on this rating, as Sinatra has an exceptional voice but the songs all seemed to blend together. Yes this was a good album but they didn’t seem to be taking any chances to make great music - songs were tailored to fit one crooning style, rinse and repeat. As great as Sinatra is, this wasn’t very interesting
Dude has pipes. Not what I would listen to in my free time. Songs are too similar
A good, chill, jazzy, easy listening collection featuring some all-time great standards. Nice one, Frankie Boy.
64/100. This is a decent album, highlighted by Frank's fantastic voice. However, the strong association of his vocal style with Christmas music makes it hard to separate the two. While not a Christmas album, it unintentionally evokes holiday vibes.
Love her voice. Great album
Snazzy and Jazzy. I wonder where this Frank Sinatra guy is now
Oh boy, if I were an 80 year old lady I would be getting all hot and bothered listening to Frank sing about the Webster Dictionary.
Retirement home music
For as nice of a voice he has, this really is a textbook case of every song sounding the same.
A perfectly fine Frank Sinatra album, but this is exactly the kind of Frank Sinatra sound that gets old quickly for me. I find that his "love" songs really start to sound the same and there's just nothing particularly memorable to me beyond the hits. 'You Make Me Feel So Young' is iconic, but as the first song it really makes everything that follows pale in comparison. All of these songs remind me of the ending to a 90s or early 2000s rom-com, I feel like those always end with a romantic Sinatra. All of this negativity aside, it's still Frank Sinatra and at 44 minutes, it doesn't overstay its welcome.
Não foi muito minha vibe, mas me levou pra um outro tempo que eu adorei.
Great! Meget standard sinatra
Lovely
no fly me to the moon but frankies got some bops
After 70 years the music once energizing and innovative sounds bland and simple. But the voice and singing of Sinatra is still great to this day. Unfortunetly on this album there is almost none of his greatest work. I wish I would hear his different album.
Swingin' Franky.
I like this, it's such an old-timey vibe, and would be great music for a hipster retro Sunday mimosa brunch party. Frank has a beautiful voice, and I like the band too, but this just isn't music I can relate to very much. It feels so far away in time. There's no edge to it. There's no commentary on society. It’s lacking depth and emotion. It's almost too perfect and happy. So while I appreciate the vibe and the vocals and the sounds, there's a disconnect that's hard to get past.
Very one note, but it's a good note.
This is a change of mood from the previous album, swapping some cheeky love songs for the introspection of In the Wee Small Hours. There’s a good selection of classic tunes, with I’ve Got You Under My Skin by Cole Porter being a highlight. I also found out today that there were two versions of the cover art - the original with Frank looking off into the distance was changed for one where he’s watching the ‘Swingin’ Lovers’ like a slightly creepy uncle!
First Sinatra album! It was enjoyable and upbeat. I found it a bit repetitive though I may be spoiled by 21st century music. I'll probably use this as background music in the future
Can't go wrong with Frank Sinatra. Great listening for the fall to feel cozy and comforted.
Solid album but nothing that really blows me away to be honest. It’s good though.
How funny this appears after the last album! That's the magic of the fun generator. This is kind of cool. Smooth. I feel all kind of sparkly listening to it. Nothing bad happens in this world. It's cute. And not unpleasant.
Nice album. Romantic crooner songs have their place, and Frank Sinatra delivers them well in his buttery smooth voice. Each song sounded the same to the point where it was hard to distinguish them from one another, but it didn’t stop it from being a pleasant listen.
an overall enjoyable album, but nothing i feel strongly compelled to revisit
Some great tunes but start to sound a bit samey. You make me feel so young a helluva tune
Was kinda expecting to not really enjoy this, but it flew by nicely. It's not really my thing but he's got an undeniably great voice. All the tracks do sound the same though! "Anything goes" was my favourite, being a fallout fan. Doubt I'll be back but good job Frank

I genuinely don't think it's possible for Sinatra to make a bad song, but I think it may be a bit hard for him to make an outstanding song. Maybe it's just because he's different than what I usually like? Idk might take this back later. 3 or 3.5 since I'm only particularly inclined to a few of the songs, and the songs I liked were mostly in the first half. I get it does blend together a bit but I particularly liked tracks 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. Like I said though, no bad songs. I could see myself coming back to this album.
Superb
Never heard the album but have heard many of the songs. On the best of these songs, Sinatra's smooth effortless singing goes counterplay with the orchestra and creates some classics. I expected an album full of those moments but some songs feel uninspired. In particular the classic Anything Goes sounds tepid here.
"In olden days a glimpse of stocking was looked on as something shocking Now heaven knows, anything goes". Oh Frank, you have no idea. 50's music doesn't particularly resonate with me, but this is absolutely iconic.
I'm guessing this is considered a classic, but the songs all sound the same after a few of them.
My mom would have loved it...
Probably hit really good 70 years ago, but not something that I’ll be revisiting
