Reviews (page 7 of 8)
Meh
ja, spannend aber weniger eingängig als späteres.
Noch zuviel 70er Style, mag Roxy Music später viel besser.
I'm giving this album a star for each of the ladies on the cover. As at least the band was self aware enough to know that their music won't sell albums.
1974. Sometimes it seemed like they were trying to sound bad? Also not very country music as I would describe it. More of a British medium rock.
Gear: Grado Hemp Artwork: 🫱🔞🫲 Production: 🙄🤔🤷 Music: 🌳🌅💘 Rating: 🍉🍉/5
Not for me
eh.
Naah, they definetly have something better to offer than this.
Wonky strutting
An album so incredibly mediocre that it's almost noteworthy again. There's a range of styles so some songs should manage to stand out...and yet. Cool guitar solos on Out Of The Blue and Prairie Rose, though.
fine. not inspiring. Steely Dan's Pretzel Logic autoplayed after this and that's enough to downgrade a point.
I would be amazed to learn that Nick caves singing style was not heavily influenced by Brian Ferry. The album, I find is meandering, never really landing anywhere interesting for me 2.5*
Love the album cover. The music was just okay.
Great cover.
At least we have the titties.
Ummmm....no.
Not bad but not something I could listen to for long
I try but apart from very early Roxy I just don’t like, not sure why I don’t!
Hmmmm
I couldn’t finish the album I think that speaks for itself
Bryan Ferry must have been one persuasive mother fucker not only getting those ladies to do the photo shoot but also to "help" him with the words to the song "Bitter-Sweet". I can imagine the number of people that bought this because of the album cover alone, only to be disappointed if they listened to it 1001 also managing to sneak yet more Brian fucking Eno onto this list Brian vs Bryan - I vs Y, in fact I don't care, I'm going to look at the album cover again
2.5
One of the weaker Roxy Music albums
Bleh
I liked the sax and the bass at the end of Out of the Blue. In fact, the sax player saves the rating. Because I didn't like the songs on this album. I mean, there's nothing to grab me, they are just songs. They just exist.
Eeesh, what a run of tripe the last three days have been. I just about got to a two with this, on the 'not actively horrible' system. But honestly, it's the most self-satisfied, smug affair you could wish to find. The last song offers some redemption.
I'd like Roxy Music more if Ferry had a voice transplant. I've learned through this project that I'm really fussy about voices, and this is one that really grates on me. Roxy have a song here and there that works, when they go all eerie because Ferry's voice suits eerie, but doesn't suit much else. I found this hard work to get though.
I was a little disappointed in this album. I really like Roxy Music, but this early album did not have that feel of the latter albums.
The first song sounded like everyone was playing something different and didn’t really care what everyone else in the band was doing. This really didn’t do much for me. The album cover was nice. Although the girl on the right looks a lil mannish. 2.5 but I’m rounding down because that’s how I’m feeling today.
I like their disco era better
1/8/25. First time hearing Roxy Music, some catchy tunes in here. Also a plus for the album cover! Very 70s glam rock like.
I was into it at first but then they lost me towards the end of the album. Then I was just ready for it to be over.
This album would’ve been forgotten without the titties
Hate it, great album cover, very stereotypical nothing catches my ear about it
I was quite happy when this one came to an end. Just couldn't get into it. Mostly came across as discordant, jarring noise with barely discernable lyrics. One extra star for the totty on the cover, bringing it to two stars.
Veldig overfladisk, mange ideer som er gjort av bedre artister før og siden. Prøver ikke noe særlig, litt for lett pop.
Meh
Fav song: A Really Good Time Kinda weird, kinda cheesy in that super early Bowie way - just no where near as good. Still, it wasn't BAD, just not very good!
Pretty forgettable, doubt I'll ever listen to this album again
Totally unwarranted. Don't you dare give me another Roxy Music album. 2.3/5
Only got about 2/3 of the way through. I can see how this album was influential on the New Wave movement, but overall was just fine for me. No standouts
Maybe just tired of hearing good albums but this has stood out amongst a string of greeeat albums as one that didn’t do anything for me. Weird arrangements without a super clear hook?
“Art Rock” is the polite way of saying “rock that’s too shit to be entertaining, but pretentious enough to pretend that’s deliberate”. I try to keep my personal opinions of artists out of these reviews, but it is gratifying to learn that Brian Ferry is as bad a musician as he is a father and husband, with vocals and lyrics as stilted as his politics.
This album is on par with their debut, but I can’t help but feel let down by all three of their albums featured on this list.
Everything is so busy but ultimately kind of boring. High energy low reward. Some cool guitar parts and synth tones though. The best song is Prairie Rose, it sounds just like Talking Heads.
my first foray into roxy music. mostly bored me. huge dissonance between the cover and the contents. was not expecting my highest praise of this record to be "this sounds sorta like the slightly lamer talking heads albums". 2.5/5
Classic cover, unimpressive music
DNF
Nahhhhhhh
Nothing remarkable...I just don't get Roxy Music all that much. 2/5
I loved the unhinged jazzy art-rock of their debut, which got a five from me. Roxy continues their sonic experiments here, but it just sounds overproduced. An overloaded heap of sounds without any strong songs. Out of the blue sounds terrible with its effects. Just found it pretty annoying in general.
This wasnt offensive, but 2 goes through and im left with 2 thoughts: i dont like Brian Ferrys voice and the only sexy thing about this is the cover.
I listened to the whole thing and can't remember any of it.
Our second Roxy music album. I don't get it! Individually all the bits of it are at least fine, I just don't really like what it all comes together to be. Feel that this album was less synthy than for your pleasure, but neither have done much for me. I thought prairie rose was the best track Nice tits though obviously 2
De hoes maakt een stuk meer indruk dan de muziek. De muziek schommelt tussen weinig zeggend en irritant. Theatrale zangert, hoog CKV gehalte, gecalculeerd chaotisch. Dit is het niet voor mij.
Not my favourite Roxy sound. Though some of it clearly influenced another favourite of mine, Japan. A bit too honky art rock for me and a bit short on stand out songs.
Didn't love it. Do we also rate the album cover?
chebs 52/100
Potente, pero para mi gusto pasa desapercibido. mucho rock mhe yo soy argentina. Esa voz country suena muy extranjera a mis oídos peronistas
I didn’t really enjoy this
Boring
5 star album cover
Meh
słabe
it’s fine but not really inclined to listen to it again .
There have been other Roxy Music albums I’ve enjoyed, and certain songs that I love. But this was fairly tepid. Nothing really stands out. I don’t hate it. But I doubt I’ll revisit. 2.5/5
Great album cover, better than the music.
This was fine. It feels like a clone of better psychedelic/art rock from the same time period, but I had a good time listening to it. Can't see myself seeking it out or listening to anything else by the band, though.
Cheesy but not in a really good way. Maybe I know ewhy this album was a successful record sale…
Hot music was mid though
Mostly, no. A few interesting moments though.
Not as impactful as other Roxy Music albums in first listen.
I was tentatively optimistic when I saw that this is post-Eno Roxy Music. But no.
Wouldn’t listen again
Country Life is the fourth album by Roxy Music, originally released in 1974. I remember not liking the last Roxy Music album I got from this list, and I don't like this one either. I understand why they get widespread acclaim I guess. Their music is interesting, just not appealing to me. It leans too heavily into the glam/theatric vibe for my tastes.
Like I said before about Roxy Music, I like the music fine enough, but I don't care for Bryan Ferry's vocal styling. Let's move on...
I rank these albums based on how kind blowing I find them. Or if I feel inclined to add them to my playlists. But I put this on in the background whilst doing housework and it was just good enough to not skip any tracks. I also again question it's inclusion given that none of the artist's top 5 on Spotify come from this album.
Not sure what to think of this. There's quite a bit going on... But it is all forgettable. I didn't hate it. But I wasn't inspired by it Litterraly on the fence with this one. I'd give it a 2.5. But we can do half scores... So it goes down due to its lack of replay ability.
It was okay. Not the best Roxy Music but you could see improvement.
Some neat experimental stuff here but I don't think most of it was really my thing.
When I was a kid I loved looking at this album cover. That’s at least 2 stars so far . Out of the Blue really turned this album from sounding like one long song to a nice mix of musical ear candy. This is a strange album. It can jump from 80’s synth to circusey to medieval . It does make me wonder is Jarvis Cocker was influenced by these guys. I feel like this could be a Pulp album. I prefer their first album over this one. If I had to pick a first listen for someone this wouldn’t be it. It will fall in my typical 3 star album review. That’s my “so-so” category. Choice cut: Out of the Blue
This was a disappointing album. Roxy Music has some great songs, but sadly none of them are on this album. This one is a pass, and I'll happily not return to this one.
not bad, but something about it, maybe the guys voice, not a fan.
This isn’t bad or anything but wow is it not hitting for me. Pretty boring. Surprising lack of edge considering the album cover. Best song: The Thrill of It All
I don’t understand why there are so many terrible British bands on this list and so few female artists. This is my 149th album. I have had 5 female artists. I can’t count how many obscure and terrible British bands I’ve had. This album isn’t good but isn’t terrible. Not worth listening to. It’s a 2. And I could do without the near nudity on the cover. What do models in lingerie have to do with country life?
So what do we think here? Is this record included because the album artwork is famous? I've seen this album art countless times in my life - but can confidently say I haven't heard a single song on this record. Boring.
The most offensive thing about this is its utter lack of offensiveness. For a bit of naval gazing I suppose it's not utterly terrible. But it's just so boring and shows pretty clearly why punk was needed.
Aight
The first song was good! But then it gets kind of bad immediately after. Not really interested in much else going on in the album. The bass playing is pretty great, though. I do think the changes in vibes and style a bit made in the second half of the album elevate it some, but it's still not that good.
Didn’t finish it, wasn’t catching my attention
fine, but roxy music has better albums and certainly better songs... favourite: "out of the blue"
Omslaget är nog mer känt än vad låtarna är.
Latter half of the album was good. I dunno though, it didn't hit me too hard. I think a 2/5 for me!
Pretty uneventful
Funky
1-2
Couple interesting songs, but album as a whole didn’t leave a strong impression
Shad also listened to some of this
I was only vaguely familiar with this band before this. I’ll probably keep it that way
It was ok
Not bad, musically i kinda like the experimintation…. Just not my listening music. Like older artic monkeys
This was not A Really Good Time. Side B was weak (other than Prairie Rose). Not filler, felt like this album was a sound track without the movie. It just got too dramatic and weird without the (nonexistent) video visuals. Again, they have better (1.5*s)
Great group, not their best work.
I don’t dislike Roxy Music. Certainly don’t like them as much as whoever made this list
This album is just ok, nothing spectacular. I enjoyed the harmonica in a few songs, however any good feelings and enjoyment were promptly erased by Bitter Sweet. I couldn't stand that song, demoting.
I think I like the Eno albums more. Gets a bit overtheatric on this album. I get the appeal to the style of Roxy, it being off the norm for rock. Dad had one album and I think it was only for Love is a Drug which is a great one. May have to delve further but not looking to add to my personal collection.
Meh
Most remarkable thing was the cover art honestly. Not bad just fine
Meh.
Besides the horrible cover, the music is pretty mediocre. Songs don’t really so much nor have any great instrumentals.
nope-didn't like music, vocals, lyrics, or cover
Good stuff.
Not to my liking.
I mean I didn’t hate it as much as I was anticipating, but still not for me.
I generally like Roxy Music but I am super put off by the album cover. I'm meh on the songs. Would I have liked it better in a different package? Maybe, maybe not.
This is not what I expected from the album title. Decent art rock but not to my taste
An ok album overall, nothing that really stood out to me as a whole and the only thing in my opinion that made it stand out was the album cover because of it's controversy, for controversy's sake. Best: Out of the Blue Worst: Prairie Rose
above 2 but not 3
Not bad, just not for me. Great instrumentals on some tracks.
Not a fan. Strange 80s associated memories!
1.9.
Даже сиске не смогли заменить Ино 5/10
I didn't hate two of the ten songs, so that's an improvement on the last Roxy Music album I got on here. 1.5*
mostly fine, sometimes irritating
for a less than 40 minute album, it lost me REAL quick
I liked a lot of the music of this but the...lyrics and vocals...took me out of it a lot.
Artsy, but not super enjoyable
Next 5 songs played by my Spotify Algorithm: XTC -No Thugs in Our House The Dukes of Stratosphere - Bike Ride to the Moon Joe Jackson - Happy Loving Couples The B-52's - 6060 - 842 Patti Smith - Till Victory
This wasn’t for me.
Not a fan of Roxy Music. I had gotten Avalon cd (I think from music club in the 90s) & remember listening a few times to the title track but didn’t care for the rest. Still holds true with this album but glad to remember this band existed.
Enough roxy misic for one list 2
This flew completely over my head. I don't remember a single song. Maybe that's because I was focused at work, or it just wasn't that interesting. I am going to go with the 2nd. Feels like this was only included because of the controversial album cover.
Not the best. Not the wirst
просто посредственно сказать нечего
Didn’t really grab me
I feel the same way about Roxy Music as I do Brian Eno--they made a ton of music in the 70s, most of it is dense, and I have not had the energy to plow through it all and decide which are my favorites. Brian Eno is on the first two Roxy Music albums, so I guess it's a unsurprising I share this feeling across the two acts. Both of those albums are in my top 70s albums, but honestly I didn't listen to this album or a few later ones to evaluate whether they should be as well. This album feels like more of the same, maybe a little more accessible. But I'm sure that's how people unfamiliar with Led Zeppelin feel about them--"Damn, these all albums sound the same!"--but if you spend time with them you can appreciate each album's unique strengths.
My 8th album so far and it's the first one I have had to think a bit about my rating. Objectively I feel like it has plenty of the right ingredients but I listened three times and it didn't click for me at all. I'll give an extra star because there's some great guitar work
I didn’t like this at all and I was expecting to. I listen to a bit of Roxy Music but I have gone to the albums a few years after this one.
Sounds like the 80s, six year before they happened
I've never heard of this band or their songs and I understand why. It's not bad but not good either. I wouldn't demand it be turned off if it was on in the background but I also wouldn't care to learn who they were. Forgettable
Lots going on, little jazzy, little rocky, groovey, sounds like its era. Some wandering guitar and sax ballads. Iffy voice. Psychadellic sounding. Out of the blue the standout with a killer guitar solo. Some bluesy sounds. Starts off okay, finishes poorly. The Thrill of It All- 2.4 Three and Nine- 2.1 All I want is you- 2.3 Out of the Blue- 3.3 If It Takes All Night- 2.9 Bitter Sweet- 2.4 Triptych- 1.5 Casanova- 1.9 A Really Good Time- 1.9 Prarie Rose-
Enjoyed listening to it. Probably won’t listen to it again.
essentially disappointing. i’m pretty bored with this genre now
Shrug of shoulders.
Liked the start. Not much after.
Record exec 1: “I don’t know guys, the album’s kind of a snoozer. We need something to spice it up a bit.” Record exec 2: “What about a quality single that could get some radio play?” Record exec 1: “No no no, that’s been done before.” Jimmy the intern: “TIDDIES!” Record exec 1: “Bingo.” Honestly, I can see the appeal in this record; I think it just missed the mark for me. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood for it.
Boring
Bitter Sweet neubauten moment.. respect..
Brian Eno just isn't my thing... I can see how many things are derivative of these works, but... I can't imagine listening to this album from start to finish again on purpose.
Gave it two listens, and didn't find a connection to any of the songs. Sounded like 70's rock, but other than identifying the decade sound, I didn't care for it.
I didn’t really find anything on this album that I liked. Which is a shame because I love some of their music.
Expecting something iconic. Not at all
Solid, but not for me
Kinda dog, not my kind of music
In some ways Bryan Ferry’s adoption of various styles and personas is almost a kiss off to Eno for his former sound wizard’s betrayal to the land of Bowie. Unfortunately it’s all style and no substance — the songs don’t have the juice, save a few numbers that sound distinctly Bowiesque anyway. A shame, really.
Ordinarily I quite like Roxy Music, but this album is so very very poor for so many reasons. The drums were the same rhythm through basically every track, and all the rest of the instruments sound as if they were playing different tracks with little to no cohesion, and Bryan Ferry's vocals were less than capable on many tracks, which is unusual as he normally dominates the vocals. The best thing about the album is the cover, they really didn't care about risqué images in the 70s.
An OK album with a couple of good tracks. Nothing stand-out for me.
- Never heard a Roxy Music album before - Didn't really like it that much, but I can appreciate the impact it had on later artists that I do like considering the year it was released - Fav songs: Out of the Blue, Three and Nine
Didn't enjoy this one I'm afraid.
Awful vocals but some of the music in the background is ok
Meh
This was ok, was hoping it would get heavier, I feel like maybe I don’t understand this type of music.
The longer I listened to it, the less I liked it. At times it felt like I was listening to Spinal Tap. Below average.
I understand what they were trying to go for here but this just wasn’t it. It was all over the place and not in a good way
couple of songs were nice original unique kinda mid overall
Well, I thought I would enjoy this. But just 70s crooning, played it twice and forgot it was on both times. No hits and nothing stood out for me.
En ole musiikin yleisilmettä vastaan, ja levyn ensimmäinen biisi on aika pitkälti onnistuminen, mutta levy on kipeästi koukkujen tarpeessa. Ei, niiden pois jättämisestä ei voi vain "päättää".
It kind of reminds me of Ziggy Stardust era Bowie but not nearly as good. Not awful but nothing too special. Let me be the millionth person to acknowledge that the cover art is nice and much more enjoyable than the actual music.
Haha tittie album cover
Disappointed. Not what I was expecting and a bit of a mish-mash.
Not bad but it was boring
eh
Eh
This is just OK. Nothing special about it.
literally the same song over and over. bad mix. 2/10
When I think of old style rock or whatever, this is it, but not necessarily in a good way. I would not listen again.
Well, let me just say that I'm a huge fan of musicians putting tits on the cover of their albums. Except when I'm trying to listen to the album at work. Which I am right now. This is my first opportunity to see what I think of Roxy Music without Brian Eno. I'm a huge fan of his work, whereas I would struggle to name a Brian Ferry song. I know that he's been influential on several artists that I like, but he doesn't really do it for me. Too much of an Elvis ripoff, and this album is interminable 2/5
Meh
Oh Roxy music, you really are crazy aren’t you? At first I thought maybe I won’t hate this as much as your other album, but then I slowly started to. I felt like I was at some off Broadway musical. You know, the kind of melodramatic music with annoying croons that assume you are invested and even further invested in some stupid story because of the dramatic melodies and emotional vocals you were besieged with no Roxy Music, I am not going to buy the soundtrack. In fact I will resent the day that I attended this event for some time. Although I have to admit that last song is pretty spectacular and awesome.
I think this plays out as maybe culturally important and "right place right time" musically. I don't hear anything that wows me, but maybe in the context of 'this band (that is in the collective consciousness at the time) did a great album for them so it gets accolades for it. But devoid of that context it's just an OK album.
Listened Before? N Kind of un-memorable. It was okay. I don't know that I'd ever listen to it intentionally. Also, what's up with the NSFW covers from british bands in the 70s? Weird vibe. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Out of the Blue
Hard to understand that I ever liked this album...
Ferry is a very marmite vocalist. I happen to like marmite in this instance. 'Out of the Blue' is the standout, 'All I Want Is You' is a great stompy opener but there are better Roxy albums out there
pasable
It was an okay album. I felt that it was enjoyable to listen to but none of the songs felt that impressive. It seems to me that many of these albums on this list don’t seem to last the rest of time but are important enough to make the list. I feel this album encompasses that. 5.5/10
I understand that Roxy Music is beloved and hugely influential... but I just can't get behind avant garde art rock. It was ok but not really something I'm interested in
I tried really hard to like this one. I love the theatrical sound, it shares so much with Bowie at the time. Unfortunately it just doesn’t really connect with me. There are some highlights though, particularly, Bitter Sweet, Casanova, and Prairie Rose.
kjedelig - for objektifiserande album cover
Was enjoyable but nothing to get excited about. Loses points for sexist cover.
Somehow the art school prog-pop vibe plagued this ablum, there are better Roxy Music albums out there
I was really not bothered. I listened to it two days ago and it made no impression at all.
All I Want Is You 5/10 Overall 5/10
The least memorable of the Roxy albums - oddball genre attempts and a lack of melodic/thematic consistency means this one falls in the bland, standard-issue Britpop pile.
This is English rock band Roxy Music's fourth album and it is considered by many to be the band's best. The art rock album has sophisticated tracks of good music and lyrics that would accompany a relaxing evening nicely. I liked some of the songs, but other ones didn't fancy me as much. The cover art was controversial - obviously - and was covered, or even changed in some countries. All together this was an interesting album and I'm glad I listened to it.
The music was largely unremarkable. It wasn't that long of an album which was helpful. There were some songs that were a little weird. No need to revisit the album.
Bit of a mixed bag this album, with only some tracks, e.g. Thrill Of It All and Out Of The Blue, hitting the feeling of corrupted glamour I was expecting. Most of the rest of the album was less interesting and missed something to temper the baroque excess.
I enjoyed the last Roxy album but this one I did not. This was an interesting week of second albums for bands from this list and most didn't hit the mark as much as the first. I'm not sure what they were going for and their songs felt a little all over the place.
Eh. Not really a fan of this.
Esperava mais pela capa.
not for me
Not great
I was never a fan of Roxy Music
Weird piano stuff
Not for me thanks
Not terrible but not my thing
Meh. Not particularly interesting and featuring just one, distinctly average, single.
2/5 nothing memorable
Eeeeeeh.....
Dit ging een beetje aan mij voorbij. Ook iets te weird naar mijn smaak.
matig, niks van onthouden
Didn’t like it
This album cover, which I couldn't leave on my screen at work while listening to this, caused quite the reaction from prude Americans in 1974. We weren't alone - Spain and the Netherlands censored the cover too. America is a country of violence, while doing all we can to shield innocent eyes from nipples and other things that are far more shocking than murders on the evening news. We gotta keep the kids from thinking about sex. That's why we have the lowest teen pregnancy rate in the developed world. What's that you say? That's not true? So it would've been ok to let people see these models' nipples without going on some kind of sexual assault bender? Oh... we have unusually high rates of assault anyway. Ah, f*$% it. I should listen to this album again so I can effectively review the songs I listened to yesterday, but I don't want to.
Some of this album is fine. I really enjoyed If It Takes All Night. And then there is Bitter Sweet, which is borderline unlistenable especially so during the German verses. In general, the album just feels like there is an attempt to be too artsy with too many influences.
thought I'd like this more than I did. Bit weird and all over the place.
Didn't blow me away. Listenable, I suppose.
His voice sucks but good instrumentals
meh
not bad, not my favorite thing; at times, it sounds like nickelback could be the ones doing it, and i don't like that. no track feels truly remarkable for me, some guitar solos are cool and at times it gets bluesy and interesting; again, it's not bad, and i would've loved it if i had heard it earlier in my life when i listened to a lot of Bowie, but now i personally still very much prefer roxy's sound in the 80s.
Bit all over the place
Good first song.... downhill after that.....
Done.
Ok
Okay... not for repeating.
Apparently I find roxy music a bit dull. Second 2 for them
This was okay actually. Nothing was brilliant. But perfectly fine.
First of all hugely confusing but great cover! Need to try and rate this on its own merit, rather than against the glory that was purple rain. It has its moments (couple of decent rock songs and "if it takes all night" is great) but then goes off in german at which point i began to struggle. Brought it back a bit with "a really good time" & "Praire rose". But more that i don't like then i do here. 2/5
Not particularly interesting, except for the German bit.
This did not really speak to me in any way. It was fine from beginning to end. I know Brian Ferry and David Bowie get compared a lot, and I just don't hear it.
Eh. Cover art to the album was the best part of it.
Kind of a random mix. I enjoyed the once over, but not something I'd listen to again. Felt folk/punkish
Ummmm, disjointed, boring... first album I couldn’t finish.
Not terrible, nothing special?
A bit too pompous and not many standout songs.
This was not what I was expecting. I didn't care for it.
Not for me. Great musicians I can tell, but too weird for me
na un asco de album
Nothing new here
Art rock and glam-tinged pop built from sharp guitars, sleek bass lines, icy keyboards, and stylized vocals feels like walking through a high-fashion magazine shoot staged in a decaying aristocratic manor—seductive at first glance, taking a closer look overly controlled, artitical and in its repetition alien. The sound is meticulously arranged yet emotionally damp, constantly balancing elegance with underlying tension. Its polished surface fascinates at first while the whole thing keeps the listener at a deliberate distance.
not my favourite.
Nothing special
What in the easy listening hell was this? I cannot stand Brian Eno, and I, clearly incorrectly, thought I might like a Roxy Music album he has nothing to do with, but somehow this was worse. This has been described as their most “consistent” album, and I guess that means consistently boring. At least other Roxy Music stuff I’ve heard is different, even if I didn’t like it. But this was plain. Music like this has been done better by countless different artists. The vocals were lifeless and the instrumentation was bland. “A Really Good Time” was the only decent song on the album, but when I listened to it again I couldn’t remember what made it stick out to me in the first place. An absolute waste of an album.
Beer, rednecks, MAGA, and pigshit? No thanks.
Snoozefest. Three and Nine song is interesting, sounds like a chill spring day, but i wouldnt listen to this album again. Nothing is really memorable for me.
The first song sounded like Car Seat Headrest it really threw me off. Not my kind of music, tbh. Fav song is ‘If It Takes All Night’.
I just can’t get into them. I think the vocal and musical delivery are too similar or something, I find it boring, nothing hooks me.
Torn. On one hand that album cover should mean it gets a 10. But then I listened to the music and it deserves a 1. Decisions, decisions...
Genuinely was bored the whole time. It’s not my thing. It simultaneously sounded too theatrical but also too unoriginal.
"Oh dear, this album is not very good, is it? Better put some tits on the cover to boost sales."
So many of the artists I like from my youth list Roxy Music as a great influence so I was interested to hear this one. It was just Meh.
Wow that was annoying. I tried to like it but really struggled. There was only one track that grabbed my attention.. for a while, then it immediately went full circus/cabaret mode (who likes that?). Then I went on to check the notes and sure enough, its Brian Eno. I have no idea why but the fact that his albums are so revered and I really can't find any enjoyment in them baffles me.
🙅♂️
Fuck

Not for me. It's for someone tho
Always thought they were overrated, and neither the sexploitation cover or the music changed my mind. The 7os was definitely the Decade Taste Forgot.
Rating: 0.7 I think anyone who makes “sophisti-pop” or uses that term should be strung up by their toes and pelted with rocks.
This was unremarkable. Truly wasn’t worth the listen. I found myself wondering why I was listening to it, and I had only made it a quarter way through.
Absolute dog shit. Fuck you for making me listen to this.
Not for me. 1/5
Not a fan
Besides the album cover, there's nothing going for this album
British rock is either some of the best music there is or this. And this is a really hard listen
It's fine. 2 stars.
My interest in this band is stark. Only thing that kept me going was the mention of Brian Eno, who has already left the band by this point. Probably for the best.
I understand the impact, as far as it being something I would listen to ever... No.
Completely unknown band for me. Like the cover, the music not so much.
1/6
At best this album was boring and just about listenable. A few songs were awful, and really not a fan of the vocals.
This record is famous for its cover. Nothing to see here...

This feels like an unfair one.....and yet I never want to hear this again.
I didn't really like this one
It's like a bad Bowie impression. Didn't enjoy it and promptly forgot it.
No, not my favorite genre. That Zappa/Bowie/Who vibe has never appealed to me. Too screechy and contrived.
Just more bland British Rock music. I'm beginning to think the majority of these thousand albums are gonna be this kinda milquetoast sleepy stuff.
I don't like this. It doesn't sound like music.
this wasnt hitting
Bad
Pathetic album cover. Couldn't support the absolute exploitation of the female body.
Not that good.
3 albums of this band is way too much for the list.
argh go away
Tried, couldnt.
The cover is off-putting. Not going to listen.
Meh
Definitely 70s and not good at all
Brit rock pop. Meh.
I feel like i could really read a magazine to this music in the office of some less-travelled doctor, like a podiatrist. This album seems unexceptional in every way. I think someone on the panel must be a huge Brian Eno fan. 1.1
This one didn’t do it for me. Not really my sound. There were a few songs that had some decent parts, but not enough for me to want to download them.
Not my style
Weird not not characterful enough to pull it off
Not necessarily to my liking.
did not like it.
I dont know and i dont care.
En mä nyt aivan täysin ymmärrä tätä. Tällaista showmusiikkia. En oikein jaksanut kuunnella loppuun.
Not for me. Nothing really clicked.
