It sounds like this band may have been an influence on The Black Keys. Overall, the album is too noisy for me, with one exception: I really like the track, “Strange.”
I can't believe this was originally released in 1977; I would have believed it was a punk album from 2005. Maybe the fact that it was remastered in 2006 has something to do with that, but still. Gotta say I liked it. My tastes tend to lean pop-punk and alt-rock, but this was pretty good. I liked it much more than the Sonic Youth stuff we've gotten thus far.
During one of my listens I seriously through the record was finished and auto-play started a Breeders song. I really enjoyed hearing the roots of so much of the punk and early 90s alt rock tracks. It pays to remember the progenitors.

Loving all these 30 min albums. And no second is wasted, exactly why I love them. This thing is packed with energy and give you rapid fire of straight bangers. The interlude on track 2 let me know this album was gonna be dope. Pretty sure Nirvana took inspiration from "The Commercial" for "Drain You" on Nevermind.

Jesus this thing goes by fast. Some songs I liked but on the whole I could leave this album.
A number of these songs have clearly influenced some of the hits of decades past. Interesting to hear the early context of some of these riffs.

I never heard of Wire and I immediately recognized how influential they were. When I heard “Three Girl Rhumba” I immediately thought of Elastica’s “Connection.” I was shocked to hear “Strange” and realize this was not an REM song. They covered Wire! I’m a fan now!
Track one has a pronounced deccelerando; track ten has an accelerando. Both reminded me how rare they are in rock, and how thrilling they can be. Really damn good punk. (Post punk?) Like everyone else, Three Girl Rhumba made me jump out of my chair.

Very early post-punk. It somehow sounded both raw, and smoothed out. You could almost hear Joy Division in a couple tracks. I wish there were some more intensity, and could do without the poppier elements, but it's a good album nonetheless. On the fence between 3 and 4 stars, I'll round up.
Nothing to write home about
An album like this would usually get my standard contemptful indifference to boring punk thatre a dime a dozen on this list but the 21 songs in 35 minutes thing at least makes it interesting to talk about. Since I listened to this at 2 in the morning after a Taylor swift concert Im probably biased but honestly the constant switching of songs made the album seems far longer than it actually was despite also feeling faster paced. It was very odd.
Banger
I'm still not sure how Wire did a post-mortem of punk while punk was still very much alive. But it's amazing, desolate and snarling and bleak and beautiful all at once.
This is not the Smiths. Closer to the Clash or Sex Pistols. I like this. I’ve got a soft spot for this type though.

Album 76 of 1001 Pink Flag - Wire Rating : 2/5 Favorite Track : Mannequin Decent enough album. Nothing special. Post punk. The album finished and Spotify played about a dozen "similar songs" before I even noticed. Nothing that led me to adding anything to my Liked Songs list.
It’s magnificent. Basically a playlist of 21 short post-punk songs that are all just amazing.
Def dig the early punk vibe - this whole record feels very authentic to me. I dug the 'zero waste' approach to arrangement also This blurb from the book felt perfect: “with the band grinding to a halt once they had run out of lyrics or had become tired of repeating a riff or hook” The last section of the record esp was really great - I think 1 2 X U might have been my favourite track on the whole record.

Pink Flag serves as a summary for most everything punk was during its birth in the seventies. A tapas course of short songs ranging from cheeky pop to spooky ambience, if you like punk at all, this is not to be missed.
unadulterated punk. the vocals are a little more english than I appreciate, even coming from a cantubury prog fan, but I think it's more to do with the hard twang of working class englishmen. I'd rather listen to the dead kennedys, but I can respect what this album does.

Songs so good you wish they were longer.
I think it's a little strange that this was listed as "post punk" when it came out just a year after the start of the punk era. However, I understand its long term influence on music that came after. Take an iconic 90s song like "Connection" by Elastica for example. I liked the short vignettes, and overall it worked quite nicely!
I didn't have much hope for this from the description, and the first track didn't give me high expectations that my opinion would change...but then I found kind of enjoying many of the tracks. There were still a few tracks that I could have done without, but they were generally short which made them tolerable. An extra bump for surprising me.
There are a lot of them but these songs are lean and clean. Nothing goes on too long nor does anything really meander. I love especially Three Girl Rhumba, 1 2 X U, and Mr Suit.
This sounds like punk infused with pop sensibilities and I really love it! The music is solid, there are actual hooks, but it still feels strongly punk-oriented. I also love the cover with its stark pink flag!
The guitar sound quality on some songs sound like dookie. Quite catchy for a punk rock band. Some songs suck but some are good. Better than I was expecting. Three Girl Rhumba, Ex-Lion Tamer, The Commercial, Strange, Fragile, Mannequin and 12 X U.

Fantastic discovery! Probably one of the best produced, thoughtful and artistic punk albums I've ever heard, certainly from the 1st wave. Well done generator, well done...
Not heard of the band - a bit before my time - but this sounds pretty good. Reminds me musically of things like The Undertones. Stuff like Mars bars, Smarter than you, She can only say no and Emergency cases could all be on here if you replaced the Derry tones with something a bit more estuary. And I do love that estuary English voice not trying to sound American and cool. It's a bit Ian Dury and Billy Bragg and you can hear years later in Blur. So, yeah, I rather liked this. Short, sharp and to the point. As it should be. A nice discovery that I'll listen to again. Keep on going back and forth between 4 and 5 stars but, fuck it, I'll stick 5 down so that I can keep arguing with myself about it.
it was pretty good but not my type of music
Masterpiece. One of the most definitive British punk records and like nothing else at the time. Great lyrics, from darker topics like the opener Reuters to much more fun and energetic songs like the closer 1 2 X U (which was later covered by minor threat). It’s a deceptively smart record, and the band’s artistic depth was explored much further on later albums but pink flag is still a perfectly crafted and executed listening experience from front to back. Pink flag changed rock music, was hugely influential with its short songs and stands as one of the greatest punk albums to this day. Essential, 5 stars

I get this is an important album. Not really my thing. I enjoy it in doses.
Usually a 21 track album would have been running for the hills but this was such a fast and fun hit that I enjoyed every minute. Can’t decide between 4 and 5 stars… I have a feeling this will grow on me more, so I’ll 5 it…

I think this was quite forgettable. Not bad, but I'm going to give it 2* - I think I feel similarly to underwhelmed as with the PJ Harvey album.

Didn't love it, didn't hate it. The only thing that stood out here was the guitar riff from "Three Girl Rhumba," which Elastica borrowed for their song, "Connection." Other than that, it was middle-of-the-road old school punk.

Pretty good British punk album, but doesn’t stand out much from its contemporaries.
Today's album was an early punk record from the late 70's. Before today, I'd never heard of Wire. To me, they sound very similar to Minor Threat, Buzzcocks, and the Clash, but they are a bit heavier in both sound and vocal delivery. Apparently Wire is one of the bands credited with starting the subgenre of hardcore punk. This makes sense, because their songs are high energy, fast, loud, and the vocals are mostly shouted. All of this coalesces into an amazing punk record! It took me a while to get used to the singer's accent, so the first few songs, I had no idea what he was saying. Once you get an ear for it, however, it becomes easier to grasp. The band members are all masters of their craft. The guitars and drums are fast as hell! Overall, an excellent intro to hardcore punk. Apparently Wire was a hard band to nail a genre to, because for each album released, they changed their sound. That shows real talent, because not a lot of people can successfully genre shift like that. I liked this so much today, I listened to it twice. Some of the songs I wish were a bit longer (like the 28 seconds song called Field Day for the Sundays), but this is a very punk rock move to have fast, short songs, and get an album over and done with in under a half hour. Actually, by punk standards, this 35 minute album is probably a long one. Favorite songs: Mr. Suit, Mannequin, 12XU, Strange, Surgeon's Girl, Pink Flag, Fragile, Ex Lion Tamer, Reuters, Three Girl Rhumba, Straight Line, Different to Me Least favorite songs: if forced to pick, Lowdown 4/5

Ok punk
This is great driving music! I absolutely loved this. I generally dig a lot of punk and have been a lot more hit and miss with post-punk, but this one really tickles me in great ways! I love how much is going on throughout the songs and album, but how cohesive it remains. I can see how some may find the vocals a bit abrasive but they work for me. The rhythm section slays throughout and there are some really fun harmonies. On initial listen I generally dig the lyrical content as well.

Brilliant. A band I knew only through the artists they had influenced (Manics, Elastica etc.) but now wish I had explored more. Like a slightly artier Clash, or a Pistols who could actually play. Wonderful

Wow. I had never heard of Wire, but this is one of the best punk albums I've ever heard. This is on par with The Clash and The Sex Pistols. I might even like it more.

Punky!
Today we have another band I hadn’t heard of before. Google tells me that Wire are a bit post-punk, a bit Britpop, and a bit punk. That seems like a fairly promising combination to me, so let’s listen! Songs I already knew: none Favourites: Three Girl Rhumba I had to look up Three Girl Rhumba after listening because it sounds remarkably similar to Connection by Elastica. Apparently there was a lawsuit that was settled out of court. Makes sense. This album was good fun and I quite enjoyed it overall. That older type of punk where it’s mainly shouting and chanting tends to be a bit hit and miss with me, and although this does fall into that category, it was mostly hits for me. Overall, a good punk album that I’m happy to have experienced!
If you would have told me that this came out in '77, I wouldn't have believed it. Production value for being a punk album is actually pretty high. Ultimately, it's just not my thing though. I wish the songs stood on their own and were longer. Each song transitions into the next one and is cut short right as you start get into it. Of course, that's also why some people love the album so much it looks like.

eehhh??? this is an album that somebody on this earth must enjoy, perhaps only robert dimery, but it isn't me. these are extremely short songs, and the album has a relatively short runtime. it lacked substance as a result. it's punk by the music and the runtime length, but this comes across as another founding punk album that allowed other musicians to excel after them.
One thing that struck me about this album was its futuristic lean. While this is a 70s punk album in the heart of the era, I definitely heard a 90s grunge lean, as well as even a 90s/2000s POST punk sound found in bands that were releasing (obviously) decades later. Coming in at 21 tracks, but only 35 minutes long, I feel like this album is only half baked; the album doesn't really seem complete. It seems like an album of ideas that weren't fully seen through. Then again, with many of the tracks clocking at around 1 minute or less, it's kind of interesting to hear something like punk rock be presented in such a minimal time frame. As a fan of 90s grunge and the other genres mentioned above, I had more of a disposition toward this album than I expected to. That said, the song length and incompleteness situation kept me from getting fully drawn in. I don't feel like the songs had enough time or substance to hook me. For me, this is more than a 2, but not quite a 3.
Something about this made me think it was some sort of special album. Something about the Apple Music description, I'm not sure, but the minute I pressed play, I was glad to know I could put this in the pile of unnecessary UK albums. Maybe it's because the selection the last week or so has been terrible, but I'm getting tired of these albums. It certainly makes the good ones that much better but how hungry are you for ice cream after you've had to eat pounds of crap?
Enjoyed this one! Very early punk stuff, I'm always impressed to hear this kind of music from the '70s. Nothing super crazy or standout, but a handful of tracks that I'll be keeping. Favorite tracks: Field Day for the Sundays, Pink Flag, Strange, Champs. Album art: Well the name is accurate, it's a pink flag flying in the middle of nowhere. I appreciate the simplicity. 3.5/5

I was looking forward to hearing Wire, but a bit disappointed how basic and minimal much of this album was. There were a few decent tracks - Three Girl Rhumba comes to mind - but overall I guess I would find their subsequent material more rewarding

Very influential, but I like the bands they influenced better. Joy Division, Husker Du, Fugazi, Gang of Four, etc. The album has a couple of great songs, but also some filler. The production is boxy. It's great for the slower songs, but not for the faster ones. The guitars lack punch. The fast drum parts sound very weak. Favorite song: Three Girl Rumba.
It's quite good but I probably wouldn't revisit. Enjoyed recognising the riff from Three Girl Rhumba the searching to see if Elastica sampled it or ripped it off. :)
‘Wire’ is art rock masquerading as a punk album, with its influence later popping up in the alt rock, hardcore, grunge and even brit-pop genres. Everything hangs together nicely considering many songs are no more than mere sketches and are over before they get started. Short and sharp, it still sounds fresh today.

The funny thing about checking out these classic albums are that I can definitely hear the influence and impact on later albums by other bands and even modern albums. This one is no exception. I'm sure it's groundbreaking for 1977 but I can't help but to feel it sounds like not fully developed compared to their later counterparts. I just wish some of these songs were fleshed out. Although overall this album didn't' really click with me, I'm actually curious about how they sound later on. This might just be because it's their debut album??
Fun album. Fun band. So far ahead of the curve that 3 songs into an early punk album they’re already bored and off somewhere else pioneering post punk.
Not a band I've explored in the past. Thought is was gonna be a bit Gang of Four but it underwhelmed a bit. Short punky sings with strong vibes/riffs but nothing really stuck in my head. A couple of songs that Elastica seemed to rio off.

Er staan er een hoop nummers op die ik wel graag hoor, maar tegelijkertijd mist het nog wel iets voor mij. Ik mis net 3 of 4 nummers die ik het liefst op repeat zou willen zetten. Ook is er een dag later niks blijven hangen. 3 sterrekes.

This was okay. Honestly, I listened to it Friday and - now that it's Monday - I don't even really remember it.
So we're now back to familiar territory for me. Have had this album for years and I love it. An absolute punk classic, with its deconstructed songs and bursts of ideas and energy. It is extremely influential on the next generation or two of alternative music. There isn't much to say other than that, so in honor of Pink Flag itself, this will be a short review.
I first attempted to listen to this while reading through some training for work and that was not working out. I can definitely see how this album was very influential to later punk and post-punk bands. I don't know if it's something I would go out of my way to listen to a lot but I'm glad I heard it. I also had the chance to listen to it with the lyrics from Apple Music turned on and I think that helped. I'd probably give this one a 3.5. I will probably round up in my official rating on the website.
Musically, punk (specifically short, hardcore punk like this album) is a genre that's never really caught my interest. The epic(ish) post-punk opener descends into generic garage-punk strumming. ELASTICA! Really not sure about his voice. The longer songs are definitely better than the < 2 minute ones. Pink Flag is a good song, like this one a lot. Is this an R.E.M. song or is this a Wire song or is it someone else's entirely?! I know it as a song R.E.M. have done, possibly a cover. Like the guitar tone, though. Vocals are terrible. I already have Mannequin \"hearted\" in Spotify, so I must have heard this one before. Yeah, this one is alright, like the bass playing. Strange one, feels like a greatest hit album padded out with rarities and b-sides because they realized there weren't enough hits. 2 stars.

There's a Ramones vibe here, even though it's not as accessible as say I Wanna Be Sedated or Blitzkrieg Bop. It's more interesting than it is enjoyable, and I was left wanting more. Not more Pink Flag or Wire, just more than what these 21 snippets gave off.

Surprising production fun album
Very interesting picking out the influences on British bands of the 90s. Great punk sounds.
Timeless classic. Punchy guitars and even punchier songwriting blitzed through in scarcely over half an hour, this record really is a bit of an outlier in the history of music. Few records sound as fresh and vital nearly 50 years after their debut. Whereas the slightly exaggerated pseudo-anarchism of bands like Sex Pistols and their legions of wannabe punks may look a bit cartoonish through the prism of history, Wire’s completely stripped back approach stands the test of time and represents a real challenge to the established musical order to this very day. Although the majority of these songs are barebones fragments punctuated by growling, feedback-ridden guitars, Colin Newman’s pop sensibilities shine through on tracks like “Mannequin” and “Ex Lion Tamer”. Wire are a band who always stood at the margins of their field, completely distinct from their contemporaries but always pushing the boundaries of what may be called alternative music. Following a short hiatus at the beginning of the 1980s, they returned with a string of albums which completely reinvented the band’s sound into an electronic groove-space, while still maintaining something that was essentially theirs. That period is my favourite of this unique band, but this is where you should start. So far ahead of their time, we still haven’t caught up yet.

This is probably one of the best, if not the best album to come out of the punk era. Punchy, snotty, tightly wound, gloriously fast moving. This album probably launched a hundred bands. Fave Songs: Mannequin, Surgeon's Girl, Reuters, Lowdown, Pink Flag, Field Day for the Sundays

Post punk / punk that is deceptively complex despite being “3 chord” rock. Great classic record.

Punk usually ends up gradually annoying when the innate anarchism of the genre starts seeping into what should still be good music. Pink Flag vibes some kind of excellence here that seems missing from a lot of punk music, and maybe that begs the question if this album is really punk? The album is certainly a band doing their own thing, their lyrics seemingly everywhere, their sound incorporating short and chaotic messes, but then there's also something else. Intention, as though they are also thinking about making the music good. There is a melodic tendency in their songs that temper the rebellious undertones, that remains a welcome stranger even if they do not care about you.
Quite a few song tracks (21) for only 36 minutes of music, so some of these are quite short. A few seemed to end quite abruptly. But the music was really a lot of fun. They relied heavily on heavy distorted chords with full rich voicing. They turn those into driving rhythmic riffs that really make you bang your head. Fun songs and fun album.
Once again I thought this was an interesting album but it wasn’t anything special. The voice wasn’t spectacular: at times it was whiny and eh but the music was pretty good.
From someone who does not "like" punk rock... I've always liked this. Not as frenetically chaotic as many punk bands - this is more melodic than most (I'm not a fan of the most aggressive songs (e.g. Surgeon's Girl) but then again, they're over in usually less than 2 minutes :D...). At its best it's good British rock and I feel like it seems to have more in common with some Britpop than I'd realized. Not for everyday consumption but who doesn't want to occasionally slam dance around the living room and terrorize the family. 21 songs in 36 minutes. It's an aggressive but fun trip. 6/10 3 stars.
This album is great. The whole band has such a great energy and there isn't a dull moment in the entire album. My only complaint would be that there's 21 songs in this 35 minute album. My rating: 9/10 Need to be on this list: 9/10

An early example of British punk outside of the “oi” genre more Clash than Pistols. From top to bottom this is the type of album your favorite punk band had on repeat.
Simplistic punk rock instrumentals that aren't mindblowing in any way accompanied by almost incomprehensible singing which I usually don't mind. New Bomb Turks cover of Mr. Suit is better than the original. It's overall mediocre and I give it 2,5/5 stars.

This British Punk debut is notable not only for the sounds, but the style. Fast, peppy songs where it isn't out of place to have those sub-minute thrashers. This set up future artists, and exemplified the musical movement as more than the commercial Clash.

This album is full of energy and new sounds, I can see why is the inspiration of a lot of great albums of that age. The sound of the bass is there, not just for armony but just like a guitar, this give the album a better sound.

Every song is a short blast of fizzing energy. I’m sad that I hadn’t actually heard of them before, because obviously they spawned so many offshoots. They are dynamic and fun and never outstay their welcome. Love Three Girl Rhumba.
It was missing something lol
Not one's thing to be honest, but this is a far sight better than quite a few other punk records here, thanks to the cool attitiude, hookiness and brevity of most of these cuts. One thinks it's okay to prefer REM's version of "Strange." That cut triggers the best run of the album – "Fragile" and "Mannequin" are especially good.

I really enjoyed this. A stripped down punk energy and snarkiness that is fun from start to finish. None of the tracks overstay their welcome and there's enough variation that it stays interesting.

Notes - Ive tried to listen to this album before and it didn’t hit for me - British post punk band’s debut album - Reminds me a bit of pixies at times - Out of 21 songs, there’s about 7 or 8 that really worked for me and the rest kinda blurred together - The guitar tones are cool, the vocals are really compelling, the bass is mostly inaudible, and the drumming is weak - None of it was bad enough to be offensive but I also wasn’t huge on it Fav - Lowdown Least fav - Start to move 3/5
With punk I often feel like the entire album is a lot of the same, but not with this one. Many of the tracks are very short, but it's a very fun album.
I don't know what to say, but it sounded terrible to me. I had to stop before halfway.
Many of the songs were pretty short. Definitely punk feeling, seemed fairly instrument-focused with some vocals thrown in. Didn't take themselves too seriously, the vocals were sometimes pretty goofy

I haven't listened to this before, but it reminds me of other things I like such as Adam and the Ants from around the same time (before Malcolm McLaren stole the Ants). Solid top to bottom.

Most of the songs are super quick and simple and hard to understand the lyrics of. I would say only a handfull are actually memorable, but those ones are actually pretty good. Unfortunately the rest of the album doesn't reach that quality though. 4/10
Quick and punchy. I couldn't understand a word but the singing is exactly what I envision when I think of late 70s/80s English punk.

HL: “Mannequin”, “Strange”, “Ex-Lion Tamer” Think I’m leaning closer to 3 stars than 2. I suspect in this list there will be a few more punk/postpunk LPs from the late 70s/early 80s that I am simply ambivalent over. At times it sounds like an album from the 90s, which certainly highlights their influence on later alt-rock bands. And there are just enough enjoyable songs to make the “1234!DuDuDuDu” song fragments worth sitting through.
The slowest hardcore I've heard, predicting so much music I like, almost endlessly inventive. The guitar tone fades into itself, maybe, but the pieces are so well-designed that I never came down from amazement. Track-by-track impressions are pointless because of the time-warp affect musicians can conjure. The package is united by sound in the way great post-punk albums are, laconic lyrics ready to unfold.

For a short time during my teens I would’ve liked this, and it’s good, but it’s not my genre anymore.
The multiple songs lack much dynamics or variation. Wire would get a lot more interesting with the release of their next record "Chairs Missing".

I swear every album that is given by this site is the exact same genre. Was hoping to hear a variety of stuff but it's all the same. Like a 1/5
solid post punkish album. idk if this band was ever in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater but that's the type of vibe this album gives off. Liked it but didn't love it
21 songs in 35 minutes! Competent punk that had little to no impact on the musical scene at the time. The reason being that none of the songs would make a memorable single. It appears that music critics have made up their minds that this album was influential on the basis of a couple of credits for them bring important, from bands as important as The Minutemen and Sonic Youth. It is possible to list bands that have covered their music - the only one of any significance bein R.E.M. - but the song they covered is not on this album. Overall this is a footnote in the history of punk, more competent than most but as equally forgetable.
Pop punk before it was cool. Echoes of Bowie, without the inspiration or musicianship. Mostly boring.
A powerful and awesome punk album, although you can start to notice how in this era most of these bands were starting to migrate to the post-punk genre, which is not a bad thing at all!

I am really surprised by how many punk, or post-punk albums are on this list. Were those bands pushing some kind of boundaries? Yes sir. Do those boundaries seem silly from our perspective now? Yes sir. Of course fight against an establishment is very noble and righteous, it is expressed differently nowadays. Punk and post-punk is not extreme anymore, doesn't seem vulgar or uncivil - I feel like it belongs in a Museum of Old Music, possibly located in London, like all the museums, and all those british bands should be hanged on the wall (symbolically, not literally) named "BRITISH PUNK 70s-90s", people would look at it, be amazed or not and then just move on. It's, in my opinion, a relict of not so old times, where music still had some power over the current affairs. Listening to "Pink Flag" was a chore. The songs were very diverse and different from one to another, you can tell the band was experimenting quite a lot on this album. But ultimately, it was like using the most expensive and rare spices on a raw egg. No matter how much of those spices or condiments you use, at the end of the day you are sill eating a raw egg. It's still just a simple punk album.

I am having a hard time understanding the hype concerning this one. There are great bursts of energy and some catchy riffs along the way ('Pink Flag', 'Straight Line', 'Mannequin' and '12 X U' stand out), and Wire were of course completely ahead of their time when they released this in 1977. But the end product does not move me (neither emotional nor body-wise) and any innovations have long time since been thoroughly incorporated in contemporary punk and post-punk. Cool tunes though.
Pink Flag is by no way an easy listen. The production is extremely raw and bleak. The songwriting is uncompromising and the length of most tracks forces you to be bombarded by new impressions almost every minute. What a ride! I am not as blown away as I was the first time I listened to Pink Flag almost a decade ago; maybe I’ve just been exposed to more (and more extreme) punk since? Nevertheless there’s no denying the influence this would’ve had 45 (!) years ago - and still has to this day. And while its the few longer songs that lingers after, it’s the shorter ones that truly binds it all together. This is also the first appearance of “Strange” on this list. Already looking forward to listening to it again when Document appears.

4.1 - Lots of superlatives are bandied about in praise of this record. I'm not steeped in its historical context and I generally disdain most lore surrounding punk rock (or in this case, "post-punk"). But judging this record based on its own merits, I do like it a lot. First, I appreciate the sharp clarity in the recording enhanced by its minimalism. Second, I love the scratchy and husky guitar sounds. Third, I like the poetry and braininess of the lyrics. Fourth, I love that the 21 songs bounce from one idea to the next, most in under 2 minutes. Standouts: "Strange", "Three Girl Rhumba" (Elastica lifted that opening riff), "Reuters", "Brazil."
A solid collection of punk standards and a blueprint in to see how they became into the post-punk cult heroes they still are.
Some great riffs (hello Elastica) but the songs are weak. They went on to make some great music (and still are) but there’s not enough art in this art-punk.

Never heard of this before...I enjoyed the intro to Three Girl Rhumba. Clearly Elastica did too. Not the type of stuff I can listen to at home, but I'd be up for watching them live.
This was a really pleasant surprise. Opening track wonderful! I'm hearing (either influence / influenced) Lou Reed, Pixies, Arctic Monkeys, Elastica and much more I can't quite pinpoint.

3.5 Stars. Pretty impressive for 1977 - It's not my interest, but i feel like I can hear the influence for the later post-punk acts like Joy Division. I may consider listening again

Many very short songs, 2 min and shorter. Feels like brief, disconnected thoughts. As far as I know; I couldn’t understand much of the lyrics. Some catchy, some punk thrash.
I get this is probably genre defining and can see the influences its had...but I didn't love it
It certainly has some moments of brilliance, but it feels at moments more like a demo album with song ideas than complete songs.
