so much violence, demeaning/derogatory language towards women. no more of this please
Nach dem dritten Song habe ich abgebrochen, ist so überhaupt nicht meine Musik.
I hate it. It’s music for idiots
And back to the hip hop with obnoxious sound effects. The one on the first track is actually uncomfortable to my ears.
Did not like. Swearwords in music don't bother me, but this seems to be purely gratuitous use of bad language, with basically no musicality behind it.
This is the 77th album I’m rating. I haven’t really listened to anything by Dr. Dre but I hear this is pretty good. Adding to my Playlist - Let Me Ride, The Day the Niggaz Took Over, Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang, Deeez Nuuuts, Lil’ Ghetto Boy, A Nigga Witta Gun, Rat-Tat-Tat-Tat, and Bitches Ain’t Shit. Not Adding to my Playlist - The Chronic (Intro), Fuck wit Dre Day (And Everybody’s Celebratin’), The $20 Sack Pyramid (Skit), Lyrical Gangbang, High Powered, The Doctor’s Office (Skit), Stranded on Death Row, and The Roach (The Chronic Outro). All in all I liked 8/16 songs. This wasn’t that bad but it was a pretty big disappointment for one of the most acclaimed artists of all time.
Not for me
I don't like rap.
Das war nichts
Tuff Negroes talking about dicks. I thought this was supposed to be a classic?
Cool beats but not my stuff
Did not enjoy.
Not for me.
Terrible aggressive lyrics and completely un-listenable.
Not a fan, listened to this, unfortunately I can’t get that wasted time back.
No songs resonated with me. Not for me
1 stern
Only heard some Dr. Dre hits before. What I'm finding out from my listening journey is that g-funk is not my thing. Like, totally not my thing. Not a single song on this album that I even vaguely enjoyed. 1/5
Gross. Maybe I'd like it better if I didn't know English.
Has aged very poorly. The kind of album some suburban Gen X mom would play at top volume on wine night with her girlfriends.
Ni**a, Mutha F##ker, Dick these guys have a serious vocabulary deficiency! I suffered through this lp even though it’s very difficult for me to hear the N word in any context. The music was better than most other rap albums I’ve been exposed to but spoiled by the foul language and misogyny of the lyrics. I hope these guys have all reformed themselves and don’t get caught up in the P-Diddy horrifics!
Not my kind of music
Ledwie raz przesluchane, szkoda czasu.
One thing which really pisses me off when walking through most cities is the sound of gangster rap being inflicted on me by cool kids cruising through the streets pounding out from expensive speakers fitted in blacked out BMW’s. Reading through the reviews it would seem that this album is responsible for that reprehensible behaviour. So for that alone I condemn this album to the shitter. But if that was not bad enough how on earth have we arrived at a place in musical history when singing? (rapping? whatever) about one’s cock, shooting people and gross sexual deviance is considered normal and to lots of people to be valued? How ever bad your upbringing was or is I don’t want to be bombarded with this music which as far as I can see is telling the world or making excuses why you have turned out as you have. My life hasn’t exactly been easy and for that reason I sought out music to enhance my well being or be soothing. A momentary break from the chores of life. I don’t need this type of music in my life reminding me all the misery out there. I feel sorry for anyone wanting this music in their life. Please be joyful, be like me and listen to say..(off the top of my head) The Beatles (there are lots of others but a good example as I don’t think they ever sang about rape, knifing and the size of their penis) 1/5 10/1/25
Yeah, this is a million, billion trillion percent not for me. It's hard to want to listen to this when that one frequency is constantly piercing through my eardrums and violating the innermost depths of my soul. Rather than bitching and moaning, I think I'll make this review as pasty as possible. It's hard to say with certainty since the game's from Japan, but I'm dead sure that "Imprinting" from The World Ends With You (https://youtu.be/sYHtqyJirgU&t=58) borrows the chorus from A Nigga Witta Gun but alters the lyrics to be less vulgar. Funny that they would choose this album of all things. I wouldn't say that this tidbit of trivia justifies the listen, but it's definitely a silver lining to know more about one of my favourite works of fiction.
A disgusting album. No music, just rap with foul language
No thanks, I already know enough swear words. 1 star or F.
I really don’t like hip hop but I have been pleasantly surprised by some hip hop albums I’ve listened to through this project. Not this one though, I couldn’t even finish it.
Has not aged well.
Did not like lyrics! Too many N, F, B words. Painful to listen to!!!!
Schrecklich langweiliges Hip Hop Album ohne irgendeinen interessanten Track. Heat & Skip & OneStar.
I am just not a fan. I get it's a classic but it sucks

Oh, boy... we finally made it. The artist that every rapper name-drops in every one of their tracks since the early 90s. This guy better freakin' blow everyone else out of the water. After listening to this album in full, I can safely say that Dr. Dre fits in snugly with the rest of the 90s hip-hop crew. The percussion is consistently very bad, using low-quality, poorly produced loops that add little to the overall sound. The synths are a coin flip on each song, with their timbre being either fair or ear-piercingly terrible (see: the first three tracks). And the vocals... Dr. Dre's voice is so incredibly hip-hop-generic that the music is much better when you tune him out completely. And thankfully, it's not too hard to do that. Once you do, you realise nearly every track is completely devoid of anything interesting – with the exception of the quasi-outro The Roach, whose instrumental is actually kind of fire. Nice brass-synth interaction going on there. Decent riffs are spread here and there throughout the album, including on Fuck Wit Dre Day, High Powered, and A Nerd Witta Gun – but for the most part, there's nothing of value to glean here. Then we get to the lyrics. Huh... There's a ton of swearing, misogyny, sex noises, pretty much the usual fare for 90s hip-hop music. But the lyrics of Bitches Ain't Shit are a new level of heinous. It might have been partially because the vocal enunciation was more brash and unique-sounding, so I had to pay attention to it. Check out the poetic lyricism in the chorus: "Bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks Lick on deez nutz and suck the dick Get's the fuck out after you're done And I hops in my ride to make a quick run" ...Yeah. That's what we're dealing with here. I can't justify anything higher than a 1. I didn't have the heart to sift through the lyrics to the other tracks, so I'm relying on another reviewer's opinion here: "The subject matter barely moves beyond smoking, macking, hoes, fronting and general gangsta BS... this album just has nothing to say." Do people genuinely like this guy's music? 1/5 Key tracks: High Powered, The Roach
Lifes too short fot rap.
I saw this and said to myself ... oh no! And sure enough, I was right. The lyrics, if you can call them lyrics, are trash. If I could get this without all the nasty lyrics, I'd might enjoy it. But as it is, it should not be on any must listen to list. No.
Not for me
Begon belovend, eindigde met nietszeggende poep
Nope not for me
Not my genre
not a fan, couldn't finish the album.
Not to my taste
Hip-hop with angry teenager vocabulary. If you like, you like it. But I don't.
That’s too much for me
Dr. Dre is a sack of shit, does anything more need to be said? I don't think so.
I can respect the cultural and historical significance it brought to gangsta rap in terms of what it represented before the "Bling" era. But good lord, between the long outros, annoying and obnoxious sound clips, and "interesting" interludes, this album was a pain to sit through. The production quality is solid, but I hate just about everything else on this album. I'm fine with loud and rambunctious music, but the songs on this just came off as annoying more than anything else. I don't care about the vulgarity that plagues this record, but I start to care when it feels like it takes up half your lyrics and has no real message or substance behind it. Despite what this album represents and the influence it brought, it's not all that good content-wise. Plus, it aged quite poorly. Whatever this is, this ain't it chief.
Gefühlt jedes zweite Wort Motherf***. Das muss ich mir nicht antun!
I really tried hard to find something great about this album. Dr Dre is known to be a fantastic producer. And perhaps it show son this record... But I honestly can't get past his 1 trick raps. I've never heard this record in its entirety. I'm familiar with 2001 and that album and this album almost could be double records. The same content. Almost the same guest rappers. The lyrical content is very dated... It reminds of all the white kids in high school who thought they were gangster. When they lived in low crime neighbourhoods and raised by proper loving parents. There is nothing gangster or ghetto about their upbringing. Which is a shame that this record reminds me of that. But ultimately it displays a sense of immaturity and poorly written raps. I almost could say this is equally a Snoop Dogg Record as he is on 90 per cent of this record. Dres raps are shit. It's basically tough guy gangster rap meets 80s flow. How many times do they have to rap about their record label? Or DOCs? Or pulling triggers? It's the same shit over and over.... Dre is probably so happy l he chose a name Like Dre because he can rhymr a lot of one to two syllable words with it. Chronically disappointing.
While there are some musically outstanding tracks on here, I give it it's well deserved one to ZERO stars for all the hate, homophobia and misogyny it introduced to the world, without even listening to it again.
Awful. Couldn’t get through it. Too aggressive for me.
Er, no.
Hip-Hop
I'm quickly done with that again today. Hip hop is not music. I listened to the album briefly, played 3 tracks and was immediately satisfied. That was all I needed. It's not my genre. 1/5
I tried and didn't make it far. I'm not going to force myself to listen to it.
This is one of those albums that seems so ridiculous, lyrically, that I just find it very difficult to take seriously. Pointless waste of talent. I say talent because the musicality on this is actually pretty good. But then it just goes down the worst route possible. Obviously, I am not the target audience, but it kind of worries me that anyone would be. Grim.
I'll listen to anything, I gave it a go, I just wish I could give it zero. What's the point of rap if doesn't make a point, if it's not eloquent? This is a million miles from 'The Message', 'White Lines', 'Fight The Power' or even 'The Magic Number'. Sad that so much rap went in the wrong direction. And it has to be said, their attitude to women is shocking.
Pretty much unlistenable for me. I tried, I really did, but it had all the filth of an Eminem album, without the anger and strong feelings. This just had bad words and bad attitude. I didn't like it
Es mag ja vielleicht wichtig gewesen sein, aber es ist meiner Meinung nach nicht gerade gut gealtert. Die Texte sind misogynistisch und homophob. Darauf kann ich gerne verzichten.
Dr. Dre? Dr. Eadful more like, an hour of pure shite, why is this on here? Singing about bitches all the time makes you sound dumb
When you point out to people who like this stuff that the music part of the music sucks, they typically point to the poetic quality of the lyrics. So I think it's kind of funny to note that the poetry on this CD includes such intricate meter as: "Eazy-E can eat a big fat dick Tim Dog can eat a big fat dick Luke can eat a fat dick" Yeah, so this guy rhymed "dick" with "dick" twice consecutively. Pass.
Too explicit for me
Not my vibe. The constant jabs at his former band mates and the use of the n word put me off.
couldn't do it
You can like it if you want, and I respect that, but I will never listen to it again.
Not my cup of tea. While the artists are undeniable talented in their genre, I couldn't get past the lyrics.
no.
Garbage
All N-words and MFers...not my jam.
Sorry bro, it hurts. I can do it. 2 stars
Dre(a)dful
1 hour long listening to the following words creatively being used: bitches, ho, dick/nuts, N'&&@$, Longbeach, motherfuk@, and let's not forget the references to themselves and the record label. All in all an album that will not be listened to again.
'90s gangsta rap is a huge Hawaiian pizza, but I don't like pineapples. I've tried, but the music and my personal tastes are simply incompatible.
Not feeling it
I am not so sure I had to listen to this before I die.
Nope
Yuck
Does not age well. Catchy, but I can definitely see the point of all the reviewers who say this album killed hip hop.
I’m sure it’s absolutely perfect. A work of art but when you’ve spent the last 7 years trying to tell your son to put his Willy away it’s a bit exhausting hearing all about Dre and where he wants to put his. Freud would love to examine him I’m sure
Beat fine. Lyrics and sentiments don’t
Not my thing - but 30 years later, it all sounds a bit ridiculous
I could not get through it. I am not a fan of hip hop or rap in general, but sometimes there is some semblance of melody that I can appreciate even if I don't like the vocals. I guess it's a classic, but this doesn't have much for me at all.
A lot of nonsense lyrics and unnecessary parts. Very disappointed.
I feel like this is gonna be a hot take, but the production was actually my least favorite part of the album. I didn’t mind the misogyny and dick jokes. But the shrill synth all over this album? Absolutely unlistenable: ear blood. And the jingle bells/tambourine that starts at the top of 4 and doesn’t end until the end of track 5 was so painful. My ears heaved a sigh of relief when it ended.
Don't like rap in general. Absolutely hate these lyrics! Could not get through this. There should be an option to give a 0.
Hip hop, gangsta, ou seja, não é para mim.
Oof, gangsta rap. This album sounds great. The vibes are funky, the bass is bouncy and the fluid synth lines are excellent. I always liked the way Dre updated the P-funk feel. But I just can't get past the lyrics. It's so violent, so misogynistic, so homophobic, it just makes me feel sick to play it. I just can't.
Really just terrible
# 193 : Very dated with misogynistic lyrics and unnecessary language. You know what I'm saying?
Do not like rap music
Nothing But A G Thang is great but I can't do a whole album of this, so much of it is infantile and I find it pretty boring.
Gangster rap definitely not for me
Violent, misogynistic and offensive. Has not aged well. 1
Well I listened to this,.....um.....not......my.....thing.
This kind of music will never not be awful
just not for me!
This is the kind of thing that made me dislike rap. I am way out of the target audience here but the mostly middle-school level lyrics about how tough they are, how they treat the "bitches', guns, weed, blah blah. I don't have a problem with the abundance of n#$%az and motherf$%&ers, that is the language they used in their lives. I'm just not sure what they are trying to convey other than "don't fuck with me". Take away the lyrics and the beats were cool, although a bit dated now.
Too much swearing for me
yuck
Nam
Ich kann etwas davon abgewinnen, aber nicht wirklich meins. 2.5/10
Managed about half. I was determined to listen to it all but the continual use of certain words in every song put me off
I don’t like.
Meh. Rap.
I'm apparently not this guy's target audience.
I don‘t enjoy lyrics where every third word is „motherfxxxer“
Not interested in this genre - lyrics often come across angry...I can only imagine why.
I don't need this. I'm sure Dr. Dre made a difference in music culture with this album, but I can do without all the foul language. Not my style.
Putrid. I hate Gangsta rap and this is putrid by gangsta standards.
Not for me
I really wanted to like this album. What I listened to was enjoyable if you could get past the lyrics. Maybe I'm just an old white guy, but the pervasive language and incessant n-word is just too much. What you listen to is how you speak, and I just can't be someone who talks like that.
1/5. Just awful. Horrific. Glad to see this is what kids in the inner-city were listening to. Hasn’t changed a bit. Horrible messages, but it seems to be a cultural thing.
Not my kind of music
Not a fan
Just not my style
not into gangsta rap and hated this in particular
Motherfuckin terrible from motherfuckin start to motherfuckin finish, Motherfuckers.
West coast bitches trying to act hard
Zeilen wie „Bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks/Lick on deez nutz and suck the dick/Get's the fuck out after you're done/And I hops in my ride to make a quick run.“ lassen ein Weltbild erkennen, das nicht mit meinen Werten vereinbar ist. Sie zeugen zudem von einem Reifegrad, den ich bei einem Teenager aber nicht bei einem erwachsenen Mann erwarten würde. Mehr von dem Zeug brauche ich wirklich nicht.
Exactly what I expected. This album just does absolutely nothing for me, I’m not sure I could pick out anything I liked. That’s an hour of my life I’m never getting back. 1/5
Not my favorite 1 of 5
Everything I do not like about hiphop
A bit sweary.
Not for me.
Don't like this one much. Very braggadocios and full of not very creative sexual humor, prominent in most songs. Decent beats though.
Dre ei pärjää Ice Cubelle lainkaan. Tältä aikakaudelta kyllä tulee paljon parempaakin räppiä.
not my taste
Wtf was that random sex audio in the middle about. Ew.
Garbage that helped legitimize thug culture. This album should have been titled "De-evolution: 13-90". IYKYK...
im sorry but these lyrics were so uncreative and boring
Just as East Coast hip hop was exploding with lyrical imagination and sonic innovation, "The Chronic" arrived as if on cue to send hip hop into a vulgar, willfully stupid tailspin. Dispensing with the cultural insight and authenticity of N.W.A., "The Chronic" is a lurid pageant of pointless cruelty and Parliament-aping soundscapes. Cheap thrills shift units in suburbia, so countless clones cashed in, leaving the rest of the '90s mired in toxically masculine gangster rap and nu metal. I don't merely dislike this album; I resent it.
I might not have listened to the lyrics too closely, but it really seemed like every second word was 'motherfucker'.
Rap isn't really my thing, but the only part I liked from this was snoop dog.
This one isnt for me. I can't agree with the language being used and it just isnt one that I will listen to again.
So basically fuck bitches get money type vibes. Never again.
I've been told that George Clinton is the most sampled artist going. That is certainly true of Let Me Ride and The Outro. All I can say is if The Mothership Connection is not in this collection then there is something seriously wrong with the people who compiled it. The rest of this album is not too hot, but some is OK. Wouldn't spend any money on it though.
Nope. Lyrics and language = an immediate switch off. I’m not adverse to a bit of a potty mouth, but this is relentless from the start, hard to work out any odd word in between!
Send all copies of it to outer space, delete it out of the collective consciouness MIB-style and let the aliens deal with it
Not my bag, baby. Just not my bag. I gave it a chance and then when it got to the track Deeez Nuuuts I knew I couldn't listen to a minute more of this absurdly infantile yet crass and misogynistic crap. Truly, look at the lyrics to that track. Cringe! This has not aged well and probably shouldn't have been recorded in the first place.
p698. 1992. 1 star. Shit-hop. Foul mouthed, violent, macho posturing, misogynistic and badly dated rubbish. Sample lyrics: fuck, hoe, fuck y'all, motherfucker, nigga, suck my dick, bitch. Repeat per track.
I can't finish listening to this album. I just can't stand this genre.
Awful. Couldn't finish it.
Beautiful and eloquent lyrics, very respectful to women... 🙄
really dislike the sentiments from the lyrics, but if they could just rap in a different language and keep the beats I'd like that
Just... whyyyyy. Why so many sex noises??
I tried, i really tried. The music he samples is pretty good but the lyrical assault was just too much for me. There are only so many bitches, niggaz and gun references that i can take. Chronic would have been a better title for it.
What is this? There has to be good, 'old school', '90s hip-hop on this list... but this is not it. I tried to listen. I really did. And I switched it off after playing the first song on low volume. I have no desire to hear about your penis and what you want to do with women approximately once every ten seconds.
Not for me
Painful
¿Why would I want to listen to this? - Upset with record companies. - Ungraceful discussions of human anatomy. - Racist terms that I wouldn't repeat. - Misogeny and praise for violence. Skip, skip, skip. Just because you can say it doesn't mean you should. "Yeah, yeah".
Subtract the baseless boasting, n-bombs and mf-bombs, and you’ll have a six-minute album of awfully catchy beats and skits about weed. That’s not bad! But you have to get through the rest to get to it.
Dre is cancelled :/
Let Me Ride ,Nuthin But A G Thang.
Zapomnijmy o tym jak najszybciej, Patryku.
Most of this is pretty gross. Difficult to believe this guy spent seven years at medical school. Rating: 1.5/5 Playlist track: Nuthin' But A "G" Thang Date listened: 27/03/23
Gähn. Ganz toll. Nächste bitte!
Some of the musical elements on here are great, but I am past the point in my life where I want to spend an hour + of my life listening to men whinging about ‘b•tches’ and what they want to do to / with them.
Couldn’t actually access this to stream but I am making an assumption (could be very wrong) that for me this isn’t a great loss
Had to listen on shuffle on a SoundCloud stream as it's not on Amazon, think I covered most of it. Really disappointing, quite like Dre so didn't expect it to be 100% themed on drugs and dicks, a complete regression from NWA which had better beats and where the bravado made much more sense as a pushback against the police. Here it's just offensive, won't listen again.
Maybe I'm a fuddy-duddy but there is just way too much profanity to make listening to this enjoyable. I also found myself preferring the parts Snoop sang more than Dre, but seeing as this isn't a Snoop album, it was another strike against it. One of the very few albums I've chosen to not finish
Although I understand the importance to the genre, I found it boring and did not enjoy it.Hearing some of Snoop's non solo work was probably the highlight for me.
Ik kon het album niet op Spotify luisteren, dus 1 ster
Hørte egt ikke på det. Var ikke tilgjengelig på Spotify. Men dette er ikke så pen musikk i mine øyne.
Album unavailable on Amazon Music.
Just not a rap fan

Not available anywhere online?
Nope! Couldn’t do it! I tried but just couldn’t do it!
Can't listen, it doesn't exist anywhere. What a shame.
just no
Can't listen in uk
Oof, gangsta rap. This album sounds great. The vibes are funky, the bass is bouncy and the fluid synth lines are excellent. I always liked the way Dre updated the P-funk feel. But I just can't get past the lyrics. It's so violent, so misogynistic, so homophobic, it just makes me feel ill to play it. I just can't.
Not for me, but I can see why enjoyers of the genre would be into it
Absoluut mijn ding niet
Snoop says I can't listen to this so I guess I won't
School children arguing
No thanks
Nah
hm
Can't get past all the language to enjoy the music. 1/5
hated it
Йоооу репчик, банда, все дела, не мое
Juvenile, obnoxious, moronic, laughable. But well mixed.
not my jam
This was the soundtrack for white frat boys in my first year of college, who for some reason wanted to play at being hard. First 30 seconds, it's all about dicks and guns and assaultin' the ladies. Aggressively homophobic. Insecure as shit. Snoop lets you know he's in the motherfuckin' house a number of times. I hated this then, I hate it now. 3 Feet High and Rising better be on this list somewhere, because jeez.
Ruim
Uninteresting musically, basically just simple beats repeated. Colourful language aside, the lyrics aren't particularly engaging either. More than anything, just somewhat boring?
Zero stars for the lyrics. Are you old enough to remember the moral panic over vulgar, violent and misogynistic gangsta rap lyrics? Yeah, this is that.
Dr. Dre... dit wilde ik toch effe proberen, maar helaas! Ik denk dat een later album van 'm mij wat meer gaat bevallen.
Bullshit
1.5
So I listened to the songs that did not have expletives and… oh that would be none. Sorry Dr D. I’m not nutzzz about the lyrics. Did have good beat in Nothing bout
