Reviews (page 12 of 16)

Enjoyed this more than the earlier Black Sabbath which probably to be expected since I think this is their most well known? Loved the title track but I prefer Cardigans cover of IronMan to the original.

Great opening salvo of tracks, gets a bit stale in the back half. Lyrically, up there with “The Skeletons”, a band I was in aged 11.

Groupe et album connu. J'aime beaucoup cet album, mais comme je l'ai indiqué précédemment je préfère les albums avec RJ Dio. Donc celui ci n'hérites pas de la note maximale, mais pas loin ! => 4.5/5

as a fan of rock and metal in general, i loved it! and i've heard of black sabbath's other works already so it checks out, not my favourite but definitely worth the listen

Classic metal album with cool guitar riffs and lyrics sadly still relevant today.

Här känner man iaf igen låtar. War pigs, paranoid osv. Iron man, klassiskt riff. Deras andra skiva, har alla bangers.

Great album. The classics that I knew from Black Sabbath. Standouts: War Pigs, Paranoid, Iron Man, Electric Funeral, and Fairies Wear Boots.

this album is totally frickin awesome

Badass album. Great relistening to it while mowing. Obviously Ironman is a banger. All the songs are great including the more instrumental moments and has good contrast that make the louder parts hit harder

Classic rock. Really enjoyed

I actually enjoyed this album I think I have such a fear of heavy metal bc all I know of it is the more recent stuff but to me this is much more rock than anything else

Geezer Butler's bass tone. So good. He never got his due for that. His lyrics? Sure. But that tone...

My husband is stoked that I enjoyed this one.

Despite becoming familiar with Black Sabbath slowly through the likes of Guitar Hero and Rock Band, I have found myself really liking this album. I knew the songs in the first half (although didn't realise Planet Caravan was a Black Sabbath song as I knew it through Pantera's cover). Absolutely solid album. Rating: 4

I listened to this album twice-my first Black Sabbath album! I like the tempo shifts and the overall vibe and songs on this album. That said, I never particularly cared for Iron Man (possibly overplayed?), but it is still a solid and delightful mash up of blues, hard rock, and Proto-metal. I’d give it a 4.5 if I could, but will likely round down.

Crazy ratio of worst album cover to best music right here. Unfortunately this is also crazy front loaded. War Pigs/Paranoid/Planet Caravan is an absolutely god tier hat trick of great songs to kick off an album with. Iron Man is a pretty good song but I’ve always found it a bit corny. People talk a lot about Tommy Iommi’s guitar work here but the drums are absolutely the heart and soul of this album for me. The last few songs are okay, none of them are bad (except for Electric Funeral) but nothing that has the same energy and magic as the first half. Highlights: War Pigs/Luke’s Wall, Paranoid, Planet Caravan

So good - raspy, raw and fun.

Hell yes, everything about this album. Hell yes all the hits, hell yes the rest of it, hell yes the guitars, hell yes.

This is the first heavy metal record on my list, which seems auspicious, as I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I still think the two singles from this album are corny, but I can't say if that's due to the tastes of rock fans in 1970, or idiosyncratic associations I've made over the years. War Pigs absolutely rips though, and I enjoyed several other tracks here. A couple of new bands are turning me around on metal, finally. I came up in a post-Black Album world (which was a sound that couldn't do it for me), but there are sonic ideas present here and absent in that scene that are still being honest by bands I'm just learning about.

I already know this record well but a fresh listen was fun

Obvious why it's foundational to metal. Some great riffs and fun subject matter.

After their debut's success they really just said "Eh fuck it, let's just define the genre more." Some of the most iconic Sabbath songs, which inherently became the backbone of metal (and its many genres) musically and personality. Really incredible to hear about their tight writing process and how some of these songs just fell into place. Instrumental in moving ALL music forward.

Looking back, it doesn't sound old - it's pertinent and continued to be replicated across many genres today.

Starts amazingly, doesn't finish off as strong. Extremely influential, but there are better albums in the genre and even in the band's discography. Best: Planet Caravan, Hand of Doom, War Pigs; Worst: Rat Salad, Fairies Wear Boots 4.3/5

A classic, but most of the songs kinda sounded similar to one another after several listenings, hence the missing star.

I thought Vol. 4 was my favorite, but it's probably this one. Banger after banger. Still not my favorite band overall, but can't really argue with this one. 4/5

Really good album but not quite 5 star. Let me down a little at times

Didn't listen but know it well, great album!

I have not actually listened to any of their albums before now. I really enjoyed this album. The guitar, the drums, and Ozzy’s vocals were very good. Their songs have some actual meaning, sorry I did not give them a chance previously.

maybe it's the long string of subpar/mediocre albums, but I quite enjoyed this listen. couple tracks kinda rambled on but other than that, a nice listen

not my usual kind of music, but i actually quite liked it. not too much else to say as i listened to it over a week ago but forgot to type out my thoughts... oops!

This may be the album that brought heavy metal to the masses. There’s no denying the success and appeal of Black Sabbath. Paranoid is top notch in every way and fairies really do wear boots.

Lyrics were much better than I ever gave Sabbath credit for. Lots of class riffs, but can be a little samey

best leuk, 7/10

Influential.

The mother fucking prince of darkness! Ozzy comes in hot with a bunch of his time less classics. Those long drawn out riffs and vocals are what make him unique. A few songs on this album fell a bit short for my liking, but the hits out shadow the lows by a mile.

Man all the good Black Sabbath songs are on one album?

Overall a really good album. Has some of the bands heavy hitters, “War Pig” is a great song. Enjoyed the psychedelic mixed with heavier tones. 4/5 Will listen again

Whatever you think of the imagery the riffs speak for themselves

I feel like I never need to hear "Paranoid" or "Iron Man" ever again because they're so overplayed and frankly boring. But the lesser-known tracks on this album are the stand-outs, revealing an intelligent and talented band that is far beyond Ozzy's cartoonish antics.

Had never heard the album all the way thru, but was familiar with a lote of the big songs on this like War Pigs, Iron Man and Paranoid. Very good.

"Nothing in life is certain, except the first four Black Sabbath albums." I don't know where I first heard that but it rings true every time I listen to early Sabbath. Paranoid is a great album.

Mi sto riscoprendo fan dei Black Sabbath. la cosa mi sconvolge.

I never expected to enjoy this. Never. Relistenable. I meant how? It's a good album. I must be losing my marbles. It's the only conclusion. 4 stars.

Well this is great. There's some big big heavy hitting riffs in here, but I also love how melodic the guitar work is as well. They're not just smacking you round the face, it's also really musical.

Following in the steps of Led Zeppelin, this is more (very) hard rock than metal to me. Some classics like Paranoid, Iron Man and others make this a strong record.

It was quite nice

It's almost impossible to hear most of this as music anymore. It's all so popular and ubiquitous that it feels like it has always existed. Some clearly great songs and skill but the music is so overly consumed it loses some magic. Makes sense to be on the list for sure. A defining heavy metal album.

-okk i like this. this is good -I honestly think I like it more than Vol 4 which is the only other album I’ve heard by them in full. Felt like there was a bit more variety which gave me a better understanding of their skill… I recognized some of the songs from my dad having played them when I was younger which was fun too -Favorites are Paranoid, Planet Caravan, and Hand Of Doom

Wish I had been guided to listen to this album in my youth. Didn't listen to it until I was 30ish. Pure delight, 4 stars

Great heavy rock album

Хороший метал альбом. Он как бы короткий и не поэтому плотность крутых песен высокая

Pidän kovasti. Paljon energiaa ja jotenkin vähän teiniä. Black Sabbathilla on niin hyviä kitarariffejä!

Bangers from front to back

fuck yeah proto metal

Just about the only metal I actually like

This album has better singles than an album like Black Sabbath 4, but I feel like the overall quality is a bit lower. Still a very solid album, but not quite a 5 this time around.

Delightful in a horrid evil satanic kinda way

Classics

Unbelievably good. Never expected tbh.

This album set the stage for all of the 80s imitation acts. It honestly rocks hard, and I'm surprised I haven't listened to the whole thing sooner. Best Songs: War Pigs, Paranoid Worst Songs: Electric Funeral

I didn't realize this album is almost 55 years old. It's surprisingly diverse: punk, metal, ambient. With classics like War Pigs, Paranoid, and Iron Man, this album is clearly a strong influence for all of the heavier music that I love.

Amazing

The vocal has such soul. Makes me think, was Chris Cornell inspired by sabbath? The vocal of Chris remind me of black sabbath. Stand out tracks: Iron man War pigs Rat salad

"Paranoid" is one of fifty-six "metal" albums (according to Spotify) featuring in the 1001 club. So far, I'm really not enjoying the vast majority of this genre, so what makes this one an exception? Blame my soon-to-be seventy-year-old father, who speaks with fond recollection of Black Sabbath being his first concert experience, shortly after "Paranoid" was released. He's absolutely not and never has been a metal-head, but even he could see the raw, primal appeal of a band like this. And so, between hearing his fond memories and reading music critics' wet dreams, this album was inescapable to me as a teenage classic-rock enthusiast. I first heard it shortly after beginning guitar lessons, and fell in love with Tony Iommi's scorched-earth tones, discovering with glee the winning simplicity of "Iron Man"'s riff (without, of course, ever being able to match the unique feel). Thirteen years on, it's still a masterclass in guitar playing and riff-crafting. I can also now appreciate that the Sabbath formula goes far beyond Iommi: Geezer Butler's bass is delicious, cranked up on the treble and overdrive. Bill Ward's drumming is a pummelling riot, as exemplified on "Rat Salad", a fireworks display to rival John Bonham's performance in "Moby Dick." I'm surprised Ward and Butler don't surface more in "greatest drummer" or "best bassist" conversations, because they're both exemplary here. But perhaps it's just that the sum is greater than the parts: while the players are all brilliant, it's the songs they're serving which are truly immortal. "War Pigs" is an exhilarating ride from start to finish: career-defining riff after career-defining riff, surrounded by a hailstorm of Ward's drums and Ozzy Osbourne's incendiary, world-ending vocals. "Iron Man" is the same, remaining perhaps my all-time favourite Sabbath song. Then there's the title track: instantly iconic, surprisingly catchy, jump-starting a hundred sub-genres at once from thrash metal to nihilist punk-rock to disaffected new-wave. I would also single out the obvious outlier, "Planet Caravan", as a highlight here as it sees the band branch out to hypnotic congas, trippy Leslie-speaker vocals, jazzy guitar solo and piano chords. It's a more successful showcase of their range than any other tracks here. It's after the halfway mark that the songs sink slightly into more disappointing fare. "Electric Funeral" and "Hand of Doom" continue the slow crawling doom-mongering, interspliced with rapid, heavy (and often disjointed) secondary passages. The Vietnam war, drug addiction, and science fiction are flavours of the day, and the pentatonic minor scale is their reliable garnish. If it all feels a little hackneyed and laboured now, I have my old dad to convince me it didn't in 1970. And what about 2970, or 7970, or 19700? Many thousands of years in the future, long after the Hand of Doom wipes us all out with nuclear bombs, global warming or a "big iron bloke walking about", the human race will evolve anew. Our long-forgotten Planet Caravan will be discovered suspended in space, and scholars will devote their careers to tracing life on earth. Entire university degrees, religions, or perhaps nations will form in devotion to heavy metal, where a legion of earnest scholars will spend their lives tracing its gloomy, scabrous origins. No matter how many thousands of years in the future this may be, the truth is unavoidable. Their research will lead them inexorably to one particular band: ye olde Birmingham's Black Sabbath. Ancient scriptures will dictate that if a single album could exemplify the sound and ethos of Black Sabbath, and metal in general, it's "Paranoid." May this review be one of those scriptures.

Obwohl gar nicht mein Genre fand ich’s super und daraus hat sich ein sehr schönes Radio entwickelt

Album was fun. Again, most instrumental tracks sounded a bit dated. War Pigs is a classic though.

Classic record, very powerful.

Great!!

Seems cool, didn't listen to the whole thing but impressive at times

i never would have listened to this album would it not have been for this list. Black Sabbath as a name scared me off. Glad I listened though, brilliant album. Paranoid, Planet Caravan and Iron Man was quite the run of songs. Still a bit too heavy in parts for my personal tastes but good stuff!

Guitar alone is a 5, but the second half of the album really falls off for everything else. It is a borderline 5

Amazing early metal that would go on to define metal music. War pigs is an amazing opener. Iron Man, Paranoid, and Fairies Wear Boots were standouts.

War Pigs is the best Sabbath song ever. I will fight you if you disagree with this statement

Paranoid Loud, heavy and swampy and bluesy but with grooves and melody - if all metal sounded like this it would be great, but it took this as a starting point and unfortunately ended up all dull and boring and generally a bit rubbish. Obviously Tony Iommi rightly gets credit for his riffing style and guitar sound, but I didn’t really realise how great a bassist Geezer Butler is and also what a good drummer Bill Ward is. Underneath the riffing there are a lot of great bass lines and bass melodies, and I guess that combined with the drums is what gives the music a groove and slipperiness that sets it apart and makes it still sound good today. Also Ozzy has a very expressive voice at this point, with a bluesy edge and without too much over the top screaming. War Pigs is excellent, that muddy groove and riffing keeping it moving ever onwards with a suitably daft and portentous lyric. Paranoid of course a classic, a superb riff and a great melody. Planet Caravan is surprisingly supple, a kind of psychedelic groove but with a vaguely oppressive feeling sitting just out of picture. Iron Man the third of the classic 3 on here, again a brilliant riff, again daft lyrics, but again a catchy melody and it's a fun, moody rocker and you can hear its echoes in all the metal that came after it. Electric Funeral doesn’t quite reach those heights but is another good song, great bass and a suitable ominous riff and hook. Hand of Doom is great, another atmospheric intro, with a bass that recalls both War Pigs and Iron Man and more great Iommi riffing. Again one that echoes what came after it. Rat Salad has more fun riffing and settles into a nice groove, even if it’s not quite as strong as other tracks. Fairies Wear Boots, I like a lot and it feels very emblematic of their style - long, time signature changes, great bass playing interspersed with heavy guitar riffing and a suitably fantastical lyric and title. Overall I thought this was a great listen. War Pigs, Paranoid and Iron Man are toweringly good bits of heavy swampy blues rock/early metal, and while the rest of the tracks don’t quite reach that level its all still very good, ranging from atmospheric bluesy psychedelic jams like Planet Caravan, to genuinely enjoyable riffing like Fairies Wear Boots. Comfortable 4. 🐖🐖🐖🐖 Playlist submission: Any one of War Pigs, Paranoid or Iron Man, I’ll go War Pigs

Classic. Borderline 4 or 5

Repetition makes the heart grow fonder…never realized I was a fan until listening to this album. The original bangers.

so strange and creepy and naive

Some generational hits packaged in an album that’s largely about the toll of war (in Vietnam or otherwise) - that’s nothing new for rock of this albums time. However, what is new is a sort of looming dread Paranoid carries with it. Manic mental states, confronting death in its face, grappling with the modern technology of war. These guys may have a legacy of mindlessly rocking and rolling, but behind that lies a lot of existential questions about the horrors we can barely comprehend

The heavy metal

There was a lot to like about this album. A lot of sections throughout the album are so memorable and stick in your head throughout the day. The bass player had no business adding all his tasty licks into these tracks. I think the highlight for me was learning how incredible and unique Black Sabbath's bass player is. The drum solo in Rat Salad is definitely dated. Drum solos at a concert are cool, drum solos in an album... not so much. I don't want to listen to the same drum solo over and over again when I want to listen to the album.

Wow. The album that created heavy metal after the flower power 60's. I'm not a fan of metal, but this was good.

Classic album. Maybe it inspired the Tenacious D song: "You can't kill the Metal, The Metal Will live on. Punk Rock tried to kill the Metal, but they failed as they were smite to the ground".

Pull on your big black engineer boots and stomp around, and don't let any damn Billy goats cross your bridge! Lots of good stuff on this one.

Classics album not listen to it before but know a lot of songs

What an iconic classic metal album. It's crazy to think that this is baby mild music now. Back than it was heavy! Man, to think Ozzy had his shit together. The songs on here that are radio famous are good, but there's a few others that I'd never heard of that I liked more. Electric Funeral is actually so good! The lyrics are also so hippy in retrospect lol

Klassikko, en voi antaa huonoo arvosanaa vittu Paranoidille. Ilo että "jouduin" vihdoin kuuntelee koko levyn, ja ny ku käytän mun black sabbath paitaa julkisesti ei tunnu yhtä poserilta ku ennen.

Iron man? Like from the mcu?

7.3/10

I’m in this project for bands like Black Sabbath. The bands I’ve avoided listening to for silly reasons. Then the project forces me to listen to them and I’m delighted in finding out they are utterly brilliant! I’d judged them entirely on the irritating and over played ‘paranoid’ - if this is their best and most popular track, the rest must be awful!…..delighted to say paranoid is the worst track on the album and it is packed with total bangers! Unfortunately my distain for paranoid takes a whole star off my rating. This has gone straight on my record wishlist 4.4

Such an amazing album from Black Sabbath. Makes me want to go back and start a band again.

The power and influence of side one - war pigs through iron man - cannot be overstated. Side two meanders a bit before a strong finish. Their bleak and cynical vision of the world still seems all too relevant. But they deliver that outlook with energy and vitality. And riffs...so many riffs.

Favourite song- Paranoid

Absolute banger. Grimy and raw sonically. Content is very of the times coming off of Vietnam

V good

Near perfect album, massively influential, and still rocks

Was a banger of an album, strong start, did not enjoy the back half as much as the first couple of songs, but they were still good. War pigs was probably my favorite. Very anti-war, very a vibe.

What a banger album to start with. The album was cohesive the whole way through with each song keeping to the musical identity of the album, while also bringing something unique to it. The front half was loaded with both War Pigs and Paranoid, while the back half was more forgettable—Though that's not uncommon with albums. I really enjoyed the break that Planet Caravan provided after the energy of the first two songs, it made for a very pleasant listening experience. Dark horse for me was Electric Funeral, not a top song, but one very fun to listen to. This is my first Black Sabbath album, but I think I gotta check out more from the.

Excellent, the birth of metal

I don’t listen to Black Sabbath, so I was surprised to recognize 2 tracks. They must be part of the cultural landscape.

Really liked the album. Thought it might be a bit heavy but there was a lot of nuance in the songs

debut of metal for a reason

I had such a good time with this album: slightly nostalgic as my dad is a big fan but I think I would have had just as good a time going in cold. To have war pigs and go straight into paranoid is just electric it's impossible not to head bang. Post Ironman it's a bit slower metal that's less my jam but the sense of cohesion in the album means I didn't really care; the guitar and piercing vocals took me through to the end feeling amped.

War pigs is a perfect opener to this album, withcy, heavy and etherial. The rest of the album doesn't quite hold up to that feeling but great nonetheless Listened: On the bus in the rain on the way to work - skating down St James street while it's pissing down and having Ozzy scream in my ears was a stellar experience. Favourite Track: War Pigs

Classic!

A good album, I liked War Pigs/Luke's Wall, Hand of Doom and the famous Iron Man song.

Fuck yeeea

Excellent bangers!

oh yeahhhhhhhh.

I was jammin, pretty good. Activated the “i am the ice cream man” version of iron man from elementary school

Not the best Sabbath album, but still pretty good .

too similar, but i still always like their stuff

Having this as my 100th album is very fitting, as Black Sabbath founded the first genre I fell in love with - 4.5/5 A sublime album, planet caravan was a gorgeous surprise - could listen to it on repeat. Reviewed 30/08/2024

Very very good, but is it perfect?

This is a genre-defining, timeless album. You can see where so many future bands got their influences from, but it is a well-executed classic in its own right. 4.5⭐️

4.5/5. So good, can’t believe they made an entire cinematic universe based off one song.

Heavy, of course, but deftly played, with some great light touches. A four star classic

classic

Unexpectedly, very enjoyable.

Bra rockalbum men inte det bästa, början är bra borde kanske lyssna på några gånger till

good old times

The album started off well and continued on that path until "Electric Funeral." That song and the couple after were kind of duds, but the album finished strongly with "Fairies Wear Boots." At the end of the day, it's a great heavy metal album that is definitely an all-time classic, but I gotta deduct a star for those meh songs in the middle.

First half is awesome. Last half I can live without. Can't give 3.5 stars, so they get a 4.

1/1001 Back when I used to go to sunday service as a kid, the pastors warned us about this type of "evil, Satan-worshipping" music. With a name like Black Sabbath, they could be the poster child of this unholy genre, one that I never felt tempted to explore... until I entered my angsty, rebellious, and *troubled* teenage years, nearly 5 decades after Paranoid's release. It was my high school sweetheart who showed me all I needed was something harder, darker, stronger, to process all the emotional turmoil I was experiencing. Soon it was metal, rock, and their subgenres on repeat, every single day. While it's no longer a daily listen for me, I still revisit my playlists from time to time. I had no struggle in a listen through of this album. Initial thoughts were full of interest for the realization that Black Sabbath were the OG rock band, paving the way for the rest, and appreciation of the lyrics in War Pigs touching on sociopolitical issues. It piqued my interest to learn more about the 70s, and caused me to search up Iron Man (my favorite superhero) which led to learning that Iron Man was initially created during Vietnam as a pro-war character (and a weapons dealer), but Marvel would pivot away from political issues because of controversy. My favorite song from Paranoid is Planet Caravan. It's melodic, and not what you'd expect from a band named Black Sabbath. Ultimately I was surprised but not blown away by this album.

got some cool hits!

Love this. Kind of want to give it 4.5 because it’s not quite there. Some of the tracks drag a bit

Some great songs. Others a bit boring.

3 of the first 4 songs are classics. I'm not too big a fan, but I do like .any parts of this album.

Black Sabbath is definitely one of the grandfathers of hard rock, and this album is a pioneering work of that genre. Many stand out hits.

pretty good

Better than expected

The 90s jrock lover in me connected a lot of thoughts today standouts: war pigs, planet caravan

i mean its one of the most famous albums of all time and alongside that just simply a hell good album.

Ikonisches Album. Toll anzuhören.

I am familiar with Black Sabbath and Ozzy but never really listened. This is classic rock sounds through and through. Not something I would listen to everyday but classic hits throughout. Great drum and guitar sequences. I fully appreciate the artistry. So much better than most of the trash on this list!

Solid and heavy all the way through…with the exception of Planet Caravan which totally disrupts the flow. It’s a fine song on its own, but putting it between Paranoid and Iron Man was just rough. I’m not an Ozzy fan, but it’s hard to deny the power of this band. War Pigs alone gives me little choice but to give it 4 stars.

I enjoyed this much more than I expected to. Even the more inane lyrics are delivered with a grinding intensity that works. Caution: Iron Man will get in your head and for the next few hours everything you do will be done to that rhythm.

Not my usual genre but it's amazing how many songs I already knew. I can see why this was so groundbreaking at the time.

Iconic

much higher than i expected

Solid album. Lots of really good tracks and an interesting listen.

This album kicks ass.

Fantastic rock album, great transition between song. None feel out of place. Really enjoyed it. Very hard at times and slows down at other times. Favorite : Planet Caravan Worse : Rat Salad

Most Unexpected song is Planet Caravan.

I had heard Planet Caravan before but never really took the time to look at the lyrics - I now have a new favorite Black Sabbath song. Was pleased with today's listen. 4/5

A wonderful hard rock album that paved the way for metal and hard rock for years to come. There are certain songs on here I hope to never hear again for the rest of my life, but I respect the effort and influence this album has brought.

Black Sabbath is kind of a weird band. But weird in a good way that makes them different than other metal bands. I know that War Pigs and Iron Man are classics but my favorites are Paranoid, Planet Caravan, & Electric Funeral.

Well this is the archetypal metal album, and pretty good at that. Massive heavy riffs complemented by surprisingly socially conscious lyrics (even if rather naive/banal at times) and a sense of humour at times. All this belies the vague satanist aura that the media surrounded the band with. Top track would be Paranoid, but really they all have their appeal, even Planet Caravan, which I used to find rather dull. Maybe I am mellowing with age. An important album that set the stage for the emergence of heavy metal. On the other hand, the rise of many imitators may not have been a great thing!

Auch, wenn sie sich natürlich auf andere frühere Bands beziehen, kam mir das Album ein bisschen wie eine Blaupause für spätere Heavy Metal und Grungealben vor.

Classic album, a few overplayed songs but enjoyed some of the songs I knew less.

The birth of Heavy Metal has been complete. Some 54 years on after its release this album still weighs heavily towards the top of hard rock albums. 4.5/5

Classic, bit very slow... Those were the times...

This was a level or two better than the previous Sabbath albums we've had. Found myself really getting into this. A very strong 4.

Joya del Heavy Metal que sentó las bases para todo lo que vino en las décadas siguientes. Imperdible.

I remember Mr. Jolly teaching War Pigs in my religion class. Classic metal album.

Great listenable hard rock, each track is worth a check. Highlights: -War Pigs -Paranoid -Hand of Doom

Great album. Songs with different moods..

war pigs and paranoid are both highlights some of the songs are a bit too long for my liking (Hand of Doom) but otherwise its a great 70s rock album.

A masterpiece.

Legendary album. Groundbreaking band. No denying their appeal. I spent a wee bit of life spinning this stuff, but it never really stuck, and I quickly moved on. Too dark. Too slow. And come on… Ozzy’s voice is fingers on chalkboard pleasing. 4 stars, because duh.

Aww yeah, I know this whole album. Great: War Pigs, Paranoid, Iron Man. Good: Electric Funeral, Fairies Wear Boots, Planet Caravan.

I enjoyed the album a lot, not only because of Paranoid and Iron Man, but also because of that.

A bit underwhelming considering how hyped this is. Especially when you compared it to albums like the debut (which should've gotten a 5 from me), "Master of Reality", or "Heaven and Hell". But hey, at least it has 3 amazing hits. You know what they are.

jazzy, liked it

It's a classic, and I really like some tracks, surprised by others. But not something I'd reach for. 3.5, so I'll go for 4 stars.

this album fucking slaps not sure if 4 or 5

Good Album-War Pigs is a classic

This record shrrreeeeddddsssss. Every song is a hit and distinct from the others, yet its sequence is seamless. Ozzy is forever a milestone figure in music and will always be remembered as such. His vocals, lyrics and cadence over top of such menacing guitars is awesome. This record will be getting many replays in the future.

Oh fuck yea! Black Sabbath. One of the best to do it.

It’s wild how so much of what they do has become just standard rock now. It almost doesn’t read as metal today

This fucking rips. I was shocked by Planet Caravan — didn’t know that was in their repertoire and I found it thoroughly enjoyable.

Paranoid is iconic for a reason and that reason is that its really good. The guitar riffs were really cool and unique and almost had a jazzy sort of feel to them. Ozzy was also great at singing this album as all of these songs really fit his voice. I think that the biggest standout tracks to me are probably the most popular ones being Paranoid and Iron Man but that's not to say the other songs aren't great either. This is a really great album that i would even put ahead of Vol. 4. Best Song: Iron Man Worst Song: Planet Caravan

A classic that never gets old!

Metal. Dos megahits. Un 4.

Paranoid 5. Resto 3. No, venga, 4.

Open to close, this album is *solid*.

I really rather enjoyed this one. Much more musical than I remember. Iron Man is haunting. Bet they were great live.

Knowing that this is kinda the Old Testament of metal albums adds a lot of value. Coming at it from a modern metal perspective, this sounds more like hard rock and lacks a bit of the edge I would expect from a metal album. Nonetheless, Paranoid is iconic with excellent lyrics, anti-war sentiments, and VERY memorable riffs.

It's one of those albums that has so many bangers that it's reminiscent of a Greatest Hits album. I was surprised at how consistently good it was. It's no surprise Sabbath was so influential with works like this.

Just awesome

Pretty freaking good.

I can see why this album is a classic. Enjoyed this one much more than I expected.

Buen cierre con Jack the Stripper / Fairies Wear Boots Otros discos de 1970: LED ZEPPELIN-III, THE KINKS- Lola versus Powerman and the moneygoround, CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL - Cosmo's factory y Pendulum, VAN MORRISON - Moondance, THE STOOGES - Fun house, THE DOORS - Morrison hotel, NEIL YOUNG - After the gold rush, THE VELVET UNDERGROUND - Loaded, BADFINGER - No dice, GEORGE HARRISON - All things must pass, FLAMIN' GROOVIES - Flamingo, IKE & TINA TURNER - Come together, ERIC BURDON & WAR - The Black-Man's Burdon, MC5 - Back in the USA, DAVID BOWIE - The man who sold the world, WILLIE DIXON - I am the blues, FLYING BURRITO BROS - Burrito Deluxe, SANTANA- Abraxas, Miles Davis- Bitches brew, Simon and Grafunkel- Bridge over Troubled Water, SIXTO RODRIGUEZ- Cold fact, THE SOFT MACHINE -III, JJ PERREY- Moog Indigo, THE WHO- Live at Leeds... y debuts de los propios Black Sabbath,Elton John y Kraftwerk así como el final de THE BEATLES con Let it be.

Favorite Tracks: War Pigs/Luke’s Wall Paranoid Iron Man

Banger after banger after banger. The inventors of a genre of music and a band that likely doesn’t get the credit it deserves because “SHHHHHHAAARRRRROOOONN” 8.6/10

This album delivers on all fronts. Great riffs. Great mellow sections. Great writing. I particularly enjoy the closing three tracks, with Fairies Wear Boots as my favorite on the album. Banger album.

A wise man once said that the greatest trick the devil ever played was that his fruit tasted sweet. Perhaps this is what Black Sabbath was going for on this album, Paranoid. The first track war pigs, a fantastic opening track paints the picture of what to expect, rage, power, and a commitment to dark powerful imagery. The pacing of the album works perfectly smoothly transitioning from more aggressive metal riffs towards more soothing and classic rock. Several times, the metal riffs return, in epic fashion and crash over the musical landscape in waves. There's a lot I love about this album and makes me excited for some of the metal and hard rock that I know is coming.

**** THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS **** . . . . . . . . The lead singer of this band is best known for his role in Adam Sandler’s smash 2000 hit “Little Nicky”. He also played the dad on the MTV show “The Osbournes”. Happy to see this band finally get some recognition.

Anyone who has ever listened to or made rock music owes a lot to this album, but rather than rehash that all it’s worth it to say that there are a few things that bring this down from perfection. Electric Funeral sounds like something my high school band of 16 year old burgeoning potheads would’ve written. Fairies Wear Boots could be a Tom Petty song if you turned off the distortion. Hand of Doom is two songs smashed together. If you ignore the 50 years of radio and pop culture saturation, the first half is a masterpiece of metal. This is one of those albums I switch out because I’ve simply heard it too much but that doesn’t change how good most of it is.

I did War Pigs at karaoke once and almost got heckled off the stage

Oh Black Sabbath. The band I've heard 1001 times and never gave a shit. Once Domino and I left Ozzfest early rather than listen to Ozzy perform. I think I blame this on my very narrow metalcore elitism I suffered from in my late teens and early twenties. Listening to this album intentionally allowed me to enjoy those singles that would cause me to change the radio station. I found the songs I never heard before to be great. Planet Caravan is my favorite track perhaps because it stands out so far from the rest of the album, and gives you breathing room between Iron Man and Paranoid. The last track is great too: "'Cause smokin' and trippin' is all that you doooooo".

What an awesome album. Consider it in the context of the year it was released! It was soooo HEAVY and broke new ground! This is my favourite Black Sabeth album by a long shot. Tony Iommi is awesome with his replacement fingertips, what an amazing sound. A true landmark album

What a solid album - I knew I'd enjoy this one, but I actually ended up loving it even more than I thought I would on the full listen through! It's not even that I'm that big of a Black Sabbath fan, its just really great music! I wish I had been around to hear it when it first came out - it would have been incredible to hear such a different and brand new sound! I have zero doubts this album had a huge influence on many of the bands and music genres that I love! A truly landmark album!

Great, especially the first two songs.

back to back Black Sabbath! Liked this more than the previous one

Classic heavy metal with some truly memorable tunes.

Legend. Not my type of music but a legend none-the-less

А знаете че скажу - мне понравилось. На удивление, это не прям скуф-рок, а что-то более глубокое

The start of metal…. Classic sounds ..,,Paranoid and Iron Man stood out

Classis album some fantastic riffs

Amazing to hear this album again as Black Sabbath discover what is possible with fuzz distortion, blues scales, riffs and lyrics exploring a million tragic ways to die young and unfulfilled. a great review at Pitchfork here: https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/black-sabbath-paranoid/ and Henry Rollins really captures the aesthetic of the album when he says: that this album is a sketchpad. "They're realizing their strengths, And there's not a lot of music on the Paranoid album. That's not a put-down: I'm saying there's a lot of space, and that's where the album gets a lot of its power." https://www.npr.org/2020/09/18/913974144/50-years-ago-black-sabbath-found-its-sound-and-took-metal-worldwide I'm struck by how dry the mix is. Hardly any reverb on the guitar (except on Jack the Stripper) and the drums are super dry. Ozzie's voice is heavily reverbed and that makes his singing dreamy and distant. It's a really simple album, by all complex life starts that way

Good album. Not amazing, but enjoyable.

Spacey Metall. Ok aber noch nicht überwältigend.

Great album. They remind me of Pink Floyd. Added to library and will be listening when revising. Favourite song definitely iron man and the cover art is very cool. NO WAY THEY'RE FROM BIRMINGHAM AHAHAHAHAHAHA Ozzy Osbourne - cool name. Thoroughly enjoyed, will be listening again.

Iconic Ozzy Osbourne is truly one of the best to do it. They are all playing os perfectly you just feel the passion with every single note played and lyric sung. There is no wonder every single movie trailer wants to mimic and use these songs. Instant hype from so many of these songs while also being cool. Metal music has been one of my weaker genres as I remember is metal core from high school and college. You can literally hear the influences that sprung off them and certain melodies in the tracks are so familiar and they all started here. Rat Salad has a beautiful Drum solo in the middle which blew me away and the guitar and drums are just fighting in this what I call song-fu Electric funeral is beautiful it is almost like the guitar is a 2nd vocalist. Also the subtle use of the triangle makes me happy perfect 8/10

decent

That was pretty good for boomer metal.

What this album lacks in catchy sing-along tunes, it makes up for in epic, transcendent listening experiences. Okay, "transcendent" may be a bit much; the songs were pretty good. They are primarily based on electric guitar riffs and have decent enough melodies to go with them. If this is "heavy metal," I'm all for it.

Not as "dark" sounding as I expected

-you found give me 5 guesses and I’d guess 5 other genres before Metal -this album slaps so hard, it’s easy but engaged listening -Jack the Stripper

Obviously war pigs smacks. But I also liked one kf the later songs ln the album, which was an open sound space almost jazz like drum focused song. Cool to see the depth of the band!

Drum rolls, looming electric bass, heavy power chords, and the simplicity of Ozzy. What's not to like. This album is very solid, even the deeper cuts are good. This must have been bone-shattering when it came out in 1970. I wish I saw it. I can't imagine having to listen to other music afterwards. These riffs are off the charts, I loved it from top to bottom.

I got this album a while back from a monthly club. I never really gave Sabbath a chance prior and was really impressed by this album. Got the hits and also some trippy chill mode. Not a big fan of Ozzy but the songs are strong enough to still make me want to rock out. Iommi is a beast...guitar riffs for days.

Solid album. Sabbath with young Ozzie has a great sound. Great hits and the deep cuts are enjoyable. Appreciated my listen from front to back. Worked great for a run. 3.7 stars

Some tracks are absolutely brilliant. Planet Caravan has been in my top 100 songs for years now.

War pigs, Paranoid, Iron Man. Good weightlifting music

I've never actually listened to a Black Sabbath album all the way through before even though I was familiar with them and a number of their songs. This turned out to be a pretty good album and is the one on which the song Iron Man debuted.

重金属,爽!

I enjoyed this more than I initially thought I would. I imagine careful inspection of the lyrics would lead to ideas I disagree with, but musically, I enjoyed it.

War Pigs, Paranoid, Iron Man... I bow down to thy Metal Royalty! Planet Caravan is a bit odd... like a quaalude in the middle of a coke binge. This is Ozzy at his finest, Dio at his peak. If metal had stayed like this, I may have hung in longer with the genre.

An album filled with so many iconic tracks, that you could easily retire and coast simply on this. Cross reference Girl Talk's track "Oh No" on the All Day album. Featuring War Pigs mixed with Ludacris' Get out Da Way for the opening track, It's an absolute banger.

I'd heard this album before and wasn't too sure what I thought of it, but upon a repeat listen I was actually really digging it.

This album surprised me in a lot of ways - knowing the most popular songs from this album, I thought I knew Black Sabbath's sound overall, but this wasn't as heavy as I expected. It also came out earlier than I thought, and I was surprised by the anti-war themes. With these being the strong points of the album, they're particularly well done. They do rely a lot on the same scale, with a lot of the songs being in the same key to boot. My biggest critique is that any innovation in the way of melodies is limited -all three of War Pigs/Luke's Wall, Planet Caravan, and Electric Funeral feature the same vocal riff repeated a lot, just used in different contexts. It's really driven home by that riff being the only semblance of a melody that Electric Funeral has. I don't think this detracts from any other individual song, and it's a great record, but it slightly minimizes the overall impact. 9/10. Favorite Songs: War Pigs/Luke's Wall, Paranoid, Jack the Stripper/Fairies Wear Boots Least favorite song: Electric Funeral

Greatest metal album of all time. I don't really like metal but Black Sabbath is just amazing

This must have blown people's nips off 50 years ago, quality

Impressive to create a new music genre. 1970.

Really good Album.

Classic album, can’t go wrong with this one Top tracks: War Pigs / Luke’s Wall, Paranoid, Iron Man

Gritty, tough and occasionally scary. The track order is off: close it with "War Pigs."

Quite good

Amazing collection of long-form jams - from the iconic opener to the anthemic closer, the entire band is locked in and churning out rhythms and melodies that still feel creative and fresh today. While there’s a bit of tonal wandering in the middle, this LP is for the most part a hypnotic rock journey, with 6-7 minute tracks passing by in the blink of an eye. Clear to see why this album is so celebrated and cited, even if the individual tracks aren’t the most popular cultural mainstays as other anthems of the time.

Initial thoughts: Based on the last time I listened to it, this record rules. But also, is Vol. 4 on this list? It should be. Always felt like it was quite a bit better than this album, and maybe comparatively under-appreciated because this has the three most famous Sabbath songs on it. Either way, Paranoid (the record) still rules. —- 1. War Pigs/Luke’s Wall - perfect. There’s really nothing left to say, other than that its status as one of the all-time greats is fully deserved. 5/5 2. Paranoid - The story is that this was a hastily-written, last-minute addition to the record, which ended up becoming (according to Apple Music’s stats) Sabbath’s most popular song. There’s a freshness about the song that makes sense given its origins - it’s not overthought. Along with War Pigs, it also avoid the most annoying tendency of Ozzy-era Sabbath, which is having a vocal melody that’s the same as the guitar riff. The lack of a melodic counterpoint makes several of the songs fall into the “has a great riff” category, instead of “is a great song”. This is a great song, with a great riff and a great vocal melody, and a great groove. I’ve got plenty of gripes about the production on Sabbath records (see below, imaginary person reading this), but the slap back echo on Ozzy’s voice is one of those subtle choices that disproportionately contributes to the strength of the song. 5/5 3. Planet Caravan - Honestly hard to know what to make of this song. I like the change of pace (though their attempts to do so are way more effective on Vol. 4), and it’s got a spacey vibe that works pretty well. That said, it’s probably at an inopportune spot in the track listing and comes off as slightly undercooked. - 3.5 4. Iron Man - Exhibit A for the “great riff” rather than “great song”. Arguably one of the 2 or 3 most iconic guitar riffs of all time, for good reason. But Ozzy’s contributions feel lazy and it feels like that squanders all of the potential offered by the riff. In contrast to most of the rest of the record, I don’t really think Geezer Butler and Bill Ward bring much to the table here either. So hot take! Iron Man sucks! Well, maybe not. The riff alone is worth a lot, but any credit to the song is basically for the riff and nothing else. 2.5/5 5. Electric Funeral - All of same problems as Iron Man but with better drums and bass but a lesser set of riffs. - 2.5/5 6. Hand of Doom - We’re back on track. 4.5/5 7. Rat Salad -A very solid instrumental that suffers for comparisons to Zep’s Moby Dick. Bill Ward can’t match Bonham when it comes to making a drum solo worth listening to. Some is the result of skill (the machine gun fills aren’t as brutal and solid) but really good sounding drums make an huge difference when it comes to keeping someone engaged listening to a drum solo, and these drums just don’t sound that great. This all makes my feelings sound more negative than they are. The riffs are good, the band is tight, and there’s an awareness that most instrumentals like this should be kept concise. 3.5/5. 8. Jack the Stripper/Fairies Wear Boots - I somehow got this far without actually mentioning Tony Iommi. He’s definitely the best part of this song. The subtle delay on his guitar really adds depth (though the fact that his guitar is slightly out of tune bugs me a bit). The leads on the Jack the Stripper (Whatta title) showcase both the skills that led to him essentially inventing the genre of metal, and the skills that are largely outside of the metal lexicon and give his playing more depth and texture than just about all of his imitators. The Fairies Wear Boots section is great too, even if it has uh… complicated distinction of being anti-Nazi by way of homophobia? I think? The 70s were a confusing time! 4.5/5. — Overall, this album isn’t nearly as good as I remembered it. I think its inclusion on this list and reputation as one of the all-time greats is the combined result of its importance in the development of metal and the presence of the three most famous Sabbath songs. Two of those three songs, along with 2 or 3 of the album tracks are amazing and worth the price of admission. But the first Sabbath album is more important in the development of metal, and Vol. 4 is a better, more diverse and more consistent listening experience. A lot of people would say the same about Zeppelin IV compared with anything from the first three albums, to House of the Holy or Physical Graffiti, to even (for a certain crowd) Presence. But LZ IV is still a top to bottom great record. The knock against it is overfamiliarity, and that it’s a bit less daring and adventurous than most of the other Zeppelin records, not that the tracklist is inherently weak. Another overall thought: it’s tiresome to compare Sabbath to Zeppelin, but it’s pretty hard to avoid doing. Listening to Sabbath always makes me appreciate the production of (very bad person/sex pest who also unavoidably talented and significant) Jimmy Page. I think you’d be hard pressed to argue that Bill Ward is as good of a drummer as John Bonham (not least because almost nobody is), but I still think that Bill Ward is far closer to being a Bonham-level drummer that his reputation would suggest. Honestly, I struggle to think of many drummers outside of those two who have that combo of swing and power. I think a huuuuuge part of why Bill Ward is rarely discussed in the same conversation as Bonham is the sound of the drums themselves. 50+ years on, Bonham’s drums are still the gold standard for what rock drums should sound like - huge and powerful, but with a character that’s almost like (forgive me) creamy? By comparison, the drums on this, and all of the other classic Ozzy-era Sabbath records sound small, dated, lo-fi and weak. They sound closer to the drums on Simon and Garfunkel songs (especially Only Living Boy in New York) than what we generally expect hard rock drums to sound like. That they’re being played with an amazing amount of power and skill is evident in spite of, rather than because of the actual sound of the drums. The guitars, on the other hand sound massive. I don’t know enough about audio engineering to know for sure, but I’d imagine these two facts aren’t disconnected. The guitars on Zeppelin are often cleaner and more high-end focused that you’d expect, presumably leaving more sonic space for the enormous sounding drums. Anyways, too much Zeppelin discussion, but also nobody is reading this. This is a good album with several great songs, but it shouldn’t be the only Sabbath album on here (and I just looked it up, and it isn’t - s/t and Vol. 4 are both in the list too. Good job list!) Overall - 3.5/5

Heavy and quite awesome

One of my all time faves. I think I heard somewhere that this was the first heavy metal album. My favorite song is Hand of Doom

Some classics on here and I can see why they call this the birth of modern metal.

4.5 almost perfect lost me a little towards the end

Some of These Songs really slap while others are kind of meh. Espacially Planet Caravan was not the vibe.

Didn't think I would get such a popular album to start it off, but this music aged very well and was enjoyable overall.

Very nice, maybe a bit dark. Good for gym with the exception of a few songs. Really enjoyed it with my morning workout

Metal album full of classics, the anti-war/anti-government sentiment can still be felt today. Definitely earns it's icon status.

Every song sounds the same.

Classic.

Freaking awesome. Black Sabath. They were great musicians too.

I’ve been listening to T-Pain’s cover of War Pigs on repeat recently, so been meaning to give this album a proper listen. Really brings together my two loves: ‘Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock’ and ‘Spinal Tap’. Can’t complain. Had a great time. Album is fun and interesting. Can see me listening to this a lot more in the future. Such a good 3 track run from War Pigs, Paranoid, Planet Caravan. 4/5

'Paranoid' is a groundbreaking and almost a masterpiece that helped lay the foundation for heavy metal. Great riffs, unique sound and of course Ozzy's vocals. Dark and resonating.

Have never listened to a black sabbath album. Pretty slick. I see again where lots of people get influence and imitation.

This album rocks, didn't realize half these were black sabbath tunes from sporting events/movies.

Solid album

Some really good stuff here, but I lost interest by the end.

I don’t know if the version I listened to was a remaster or rerelease but the ‘wall of sound’ was impressive for time. I’ve never been a huge fan but they influenced a lot of bands/genres I grew up loving so this gets a big thumbs up

War Pigs, Paranoid and Iron Man are old favorites of mine. Planet Caravan really fell short. Electric Funeral on the other hand was a nice surprise. Hand of Doom was a little heavy handed but had good sound. Rat Salad was ok, not a big fan of instrumental rock. Fairies Wear Boots was fun. Overall I’d give it a 4

It’s ozzy. It’s classic.

7/10 iconic rock and great song made me wish for a longer album

favourite: iron man really close to a a 5 which i was not anticipating at all. a whole lotta fun

feeling cooling listening to this tbh good morning commute album, gets ya goin planet caravan almost speakeasy jazz club vibes okay flashback to marching band playing in the stands at football games with iron man LOL

Had a few good songs but some dragged along a good bit

Expected worse tbh but this album does have their biggest hits. Not my favourite genre but the best I've heard it done. 4 stars.

Classic.

Never realized the heavy blues background of Sabbath. Would never have thought this, but Sabbath, Led Zepplin and early Fleetwood Mac (even on the outside, Chigago Transit Authority) all had that raw, heavy blues machine going!

Paranoid. Iron Man. War Pigs.

Oh lord, yeah!

Filled with classics

Great album. I love how Tony Iommi plays guitar. Still not real fond of Ozzy's lyrics and singing style, though.

Great metal album high 8

War Pigs // Paranoid // Planet Caravan // Iron Man // Rat Salad // Fairies Wear Boots 4.5/5

The hits are obvious and prevalent. The remainder of the album seems to fall into filler territory

A classic of heaviness. Some tunes lose a bit of cohesiveness as they go on, but this is required listening.

maybe not a fan of heavy metal and type but the album was a fun listen. Electric funeral was the highlight

AMAZING

The beginning of the album, in the vein of Cream or the Moody Blues, sounds like the standard psychedelic blues that was already declining in 1970… but then it gives way to something totally different. Something new. Black Sabbath rewrote the game. They weren’t the only ones doing so, but they were the only ones who went on to devote themself totally to the emerging heavy metal genre, rather than sticking with hard rock or blues rock like Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple. Hell, even the song titles set the standard for metal: “Iron Man”, “Electric Funeral”, “Hand of Doom”, really the only song that doesn’t have a metal title is “Fairies Wear Boots”. This was one of the first CDs I ever owned that wasn’t a greatest hits compilation. Early on, I skipped most songs that weren’t “Iron Man”, having just begun attempting to play guitar, but over time the rest of the album has grown on me considerably. The album shifts back and forth between heavy metal and psychedelic blues, but it still forms a completely cohesive unit. This is another album which has floated in and out of my top 100, and the guitar solo from “Iron Man” is still probably my favorite moment on the album.

very cool album

A couple of great songs beyond the one ones I'm familiar with. The run of Hand of Doom, Rat Salad, and Fairies wear Boots stand out in the back end. Iron Man sounds dated these days...I guess its just a little overplayed. War Pigs and Paranoid still hold up. I always thought I "knew" this album because of the hits, but its much more complete with everything in context.

I can tell this is a really well-made album and the lyrics are very thoughtful. I think it's just not my preference of style, so I get a little tired of it after a bit. Hence 4 rather than 5 stars.

I was surprised at the musicality of this metal album. Some of the guitar sounded melodic and bluesy, not something I expected from Black Sabbath. I especially liked Planet Caravan.

1. Are song 1 and 2 the same with just less instrumental?? 2.song 3 chill vibes 3. Song 4 - I am iron man, didn’t realize it was from this album 4. Overall - good album songs I didn’t realize I already knew

This is a such a sweet album. It packs a punch with it's tone and melodic changes. Deceptively complex for how hard it hammers you. A stone cold classic. Rock and roll baby.

First two opening songs are stronger than the rest of the album, if they kept up that ferocity it would be an undeniably sublime album

I dug this. I knew the hits but really found the fuzzy guitars and occult lyrics enjoyable.

yo... war pigs paranoid iron man hand of doom rat salad

Terrific 2nd album by BS. Smashes on side A. Lesser known but excellent tracks on B. Birth of metal. Rifftastic. 4.5

I never would have listened to this if not for this program. I can’t believe how much I enjoyed it! Caravan Planet is psychedelic and groovy. War Pigs is surprisingly socially conscious and thoughtful. I have a greater appreciation for Black Sabbath and their role in the evolution of rock music.

So this is where i knew that one song i thought these guys were like screamo whoops

Much to my surprise, I rather enjoyed this.

some iconic songs, it was a nice listen

I was so nervous going into this listen, Heavy-metal is far from my genre of choice. However, the opening chords fill your speaker with such warmth. I automatically felt safe then hearing ozzy's vocal soar I was instantly in. I quickly found my self dancing along to some of the most accessible metal I have ever heard. I loved how melodic themes would impact and almost ricochet through the album and you'd hear infamous melodic patterns scattered through later songs reminding you you're listening to an album not a collection of singles. Playlist Track: War Pigs Rating: 4/5 Date Listened: 05/01/2024

A great album

Again, I can see how this band is so well loved.

Classic album with a familiar tunes.

Classic metal album

As classic as you can get with a rock album. Ozzy Osbourne overrated fr fr but is made up by the accompanying musicians.
