well, that was a thing.
Day35 - fun weird album
4/10 - 2/5 I like how experimental they are, especially for the 60s. I just don't like how it sounds. Abrasive and annoying at times. Real clown vibe. I didn't get used to the sound until the 7th song. Fun elements of percussion and more jungle sounding Brazilian elements, with some really very loud guitar noodling on top. Not particularly my jam.
Interesting album. Glad I gave it two listens, but don't think I'll be returning to it. The music wasn't something I got into. 2/5, mainly because I wasn't moved by it.
An interesting album for sure, not quite my vibe Top tracks: Bat Macumba, Ave Gengis Khan
Varsin outo kokemus eikä todella tehnyt mieli pyöräyttää uudelleen läpi.
Meh
It had some cool sounds on it. If it was in English I probably would’ve liked it more.
It’s nice to hear music that isn’t in English. I appreciated the sound of the album and there were a few songs that I enjoyed.
Different, fun, playful. It's interesting to hear something from a different country other than Britain. I enjoyed the listening experience more than I didn't but would I want to hear it again? Probably not.
Music was a little odd. Some tracks were OK but lyrics were not in English. 2 stars.
so far so good ...
Very weird! Especially the flutes!!
Definitely different, and they seem quite into the idea of blending all sorts of sounds into their music. Though not my personal cup of tea, I can appreciate what they were doing.
Da e greit nok, kanskje litt for spansk for meg
p135. 1968. 2 stars. Well, that was weird, and not in a good way.
i always enjoy albums from a non-english language! and gosh, os mutantes' self-titled was truly created and released in the sixties, despite being recorded in brazil. this album is oozing with psychedelia, in addition to some beatles-esque music, but the percussion usage is what makes this album different. the drums in "bat macumba" in particular stood out to me.
I will say, psychedelic music sounds even more psychedelic when the words are being sung in a language you don't understand. This album makes it very obvious how exotic/tropical type music can blend into psychedelia, and often did. That said, I liked the parts of the album best that played more heavily on the tropical and exotic aspects. The parts that sounded somewhat like foreign language Beatles weren't my favorites.
Strange and barely good at its best
Very experimental. Fun to listen to, but not something I'd regularly listen to. A Menha Menina was the only song I could see myself coming back to.
Strange.
Maybe a little diamond in the raw, tape-like rough?
it was ok, i should be come bilingual and the gatuarl and vocals were kind of haunting
Meh
Discordant and weird, not in a pleasant way.
Too weird for me.
Water fak
Demasiada falopa
Reminded me of 70’s Sesamestreet songs, after 5 songs I couldn’t listen to it anymore, I think you have to be very high too enjoy this…
Ehhhh?
Passed me by a bit this one, it was sort of a Brazilian Beatles thing for most of it, think it had some slightly more interesting turns but be damned if I can remember any of it. Nothing else to add, sorry Mutantes, had quite a busy Thursday.
Veered between quite enjoyable and very irritating. We've had better Brazilian music.
Getting Mamas and The Papas vibes with the vocals and believe it or not some Beatles vibes from the percussion. Interesting listen to start for sure. Bat Macumba is terrible. First song on the album so far that I really didn't like. The instruments are literally painful. Not a huge fan on the first listen, but I would definitely be willing to give it another lesson. 2 stars.
Hard to wrap my head around.
Okay well… Length = good. Understanding of songs = Nonexistent. It really wasn’t bad, but not my style. At all. I thought parts of it were cool but just hard to get into.
Sure - as advertised, this is a bit weird. I like weird, I appreciate weird. This is almost not weird enough? Like it was trying to bridge weird/new/experimental with just straight-up Brazilian pop; it's kind of all over the place. I'm also thinking I would have liked this more had it been a more-modern production; as it is, the mono recording doesn't give it the full-head-space i'd have loved to hear in a well-mixed stereo recording. TL;DR: It's not bad, if I'm not lazy someday I might want to seek out some of their future recordings because there's definitely a groundwork for something here, but this one is not quite realized for me. 5/10 2 stars.
Starts well but gets weaker after that. Another case where I would wish to be able to rate more detailed because this is more of a 2.5/5.
all over the place. kinda fun, and given time it might grow on me, but aint nobody got time for that
Relatively enjoyable
Bonkers! This basically completed my quorum of bonkers for today: - Star Trek: strange new worlds – the musical episode (cuckoo bomb bonkers) - a BBC drama called Wolf (proper bonkers) - the Ween album (hella bonkers) - Os mutantes (wtf bonkers) Reminded me of a Spanish film I saw back in about 1993, called Accion Mutante. There was only one other person (a stranger to me) in the cinema, and when the film finished, we basically walked out into the light, blinking and speechless. It took a minute, but eventually, we grunted at each other, commenting how it was completely nuts. I wish I could ask that guy what he thinks now. I felt the same after this album, blinking in the light and speechless. It’s not an oppressed reaction but this just made me feel off-balance. And that cover looks like it could be a still from a Hammer Horror movie. But this is definitely a positive from this project - being introduced to music I had no clue about previously. Even if it is banana crackers!
A prime example of how weirdness, eccentricity and genre-mixing does not necessarily mean being interesting, let alone enjoyable. The only track on here I can actually consider a song in a traditional sense is the cover Le Premier Bonheur Du Jour. Now, I'm all for shaking up traditions, but I'm also for actually enjoying music. That said, certainly not the worst thing we've had on this list either.
Too weird even for me
Eh, not really a style I want to listen to but I could catch glimpses of why others would
I dont understand portuguese, but the sounds are interesting.
Wow! Not me!
meh.
Psychedelic rock from Brazil! That's a really surprising position on this list. One could notice so many influences on this album (or maybe European and American bands were influenced by Os Mutantes). Few of the songs, especially those with piano solos reminded me of The Doors, for example. In general, the album was very experimental, with many weird noises and sounds, crazy vocals and unusual guitar notes. It didn't help that songs were in portuguese and I couldn't understand a word. And the uniqueness was a little bit too much for me.
Nice to see a non-UK, non-American album on this list, feels like the first one in a while. Unfortunately I didn't like the music too much, in particular many of the guitar sounds were pretty loud and sharp. Can be good, but I wasn't feeling it as I listened through.
Decent jams, needed to be high
A minha menina!
Rubbish. Random sounds thrown together.
There kind of all over the place... some good moments, but all in all not my thing.
Niet mijn ding. Een keer, nooit meer geval.
A bit odd
Experimental and psychadelic. It's like 60s- 70s psychadelic rock with some fuzz thrown in at times and with a south American flavour. I didn't care for it that much.
Best Song: Adeus Maria Fulo. Really cool mixture of instruments with a pleasant, bouncy melody. Worst Song: Baby. Feels like they're really trying to cosplay as the Beatles here. Overall: Overwhelmingly okay. Seems pretty derivative of other big bands at the time (the Beatles in particular), so nothing feels particularly exciting here. Can't imagine that I'll return to this.
Not really something i vpuld jive with when i listened, small chamce ill g9 back to a few tracks.
It's alright. I'm not sure why you need to know the pool, but OK.
Eclectic and unusual. It was a difficult album to latch on to anything, but by the time i got to Ave Genghis Khan, i was actually ok with that track. A challenging and interesting listen, but i can't quite call it enjoyable.
This is a journey into sound.... Don't know these guys. Never would have ever listened to this album if it wasn't for this project. Was it worth it? Tuff one to say. Experimental Psychedelic pop in Portuguese. It definitely has moments. Might take more time to start to enjoy. For now, it is one of the weaker Psychedelic albums on the list. Standouts: "A Minha Menina" Others: "O Relogio" (first half of the song, then it went to crap), "Baby" has a familiar melody. "La Premier Bonheur Du Jour" 2.5
Wouldn’t return to listen again.
Glad to see this one is only 36 minutes long! This is kind of weird so far, very sixties but with brass and weird intermission things in the songs? Well, at least the first track has it. Is this Portuguese? So far, this is fine. I've been feeling pretty neutral or bad about several of these albums, which is a bummer, since not only did this all start very strong, but it's albums "you must hear." I'm guessing this would mean more to me if I could understand the lyrics and context? Bat Macumba is sounding really interesting. Uh yeah, that was okay.
Look, I'm ready to admit that maybe I just don't get what they're trying to accomplish here. But, as far as I can tell, these folks listened to some Beatles and were like, "Man, I dig that song about the circus. Let's do that but with samba whistles!" It's not good. It's not fun. It's just derivative and poorly executed. I'm giving it an extra "benefit of the doubt" star because, like I said, there's a chance I just don't get it.
What I read about this album, I thought it was going to be even stranger than it was. It had its moments, but it mostly just sounded like Brazilian the Mama's and the Papa's (of course on Tempo no Tempo but other songs too) or Donovan (Trem Fantasma sounded like Sunshine Superman - was that intentional?). I'm not sure that I hated it but I certainly didn't get it. I think it was hurt more by the fact it was in Portuguese and I couldn't grasp the context then it was hurt by its weird arrangements. It made it hard for me to get into it.
meh, didn't get it.
Just to know
Sorry, but I do not understand it.
27 seconds in and I'm glad this album is short. It wasn't all bad but like... **Shrug**
Felt extremely 60s
Couldn't get into this, despite knowing the Bees cover of "A Minha Menina". I think this is something I'd really need to be in the mood for to listen again. I see that it's interesting, but I didn't enjoy my playthrough.
Interesting, a bit different but unlikely to listen to it again
Not in love with this
I'll probably never listen to this again, but I did enjoy this little journey. This is nice chilled music. At times it doesn't sound nearly as old as it is, but then on other tracks there is no mistaking that 60s vibe. A pleasant album all round.
Interesting but not my style
Didn ebjoy
Aaaaand it's time for a token foreign language album. Oh and It's also late 60s psychedelic garbage, because of course it is. 2/5.
Weird
Not bad, not good, just weird.
This is bizarre. Not unenjoyable, but very unlikely to listen to again. The first track was really good (in a peculiar way), and built my expectations up a bit too much - the rest of the album only hit that again in fits and starts. A real mix of styles and genres, but it does have something that I can't quite put my finger on that holds it together. Panis Et Cercenses, Baby, and Ave Genghis Khan my favourites. Think it fits in at the very top of 2 out of 5.
Hmmm nah. I mean, there's something there sure but I'd need to listen to it a few times and I don't feel like it.
Pretty weird stuff
In the past I tried to listen to an Os Mutantes album before but never got into it, just like today. This type of 60s psychedelic kind of music is a bit of an acquired tase and this album is a bit less accessible than say a Love or Jefferson Airplane album. The album requires a certain mind set / mood in addition to multiple listens. I am not sure if I ever will, so 2 star but with a disclaimer.
60s kind of Beatles vibe in Spanish?
a little bit too much for at work. but maybe funner for it. too much for workday never finsihed down to 2
wow
First Listen. Interesting and different. 2/5
Maybe I'm feeling mean today. But aside from the one french song, this album was pretty lame
Never really been in to Psychedelia and this is a bit too out there to change my mind. Get how others may enjoy it though as its not like much I've heard before. 2/5
Not as awful as first feared. Some lovely psychedelia but some sub par stuff too.
I just didn't get into it. It was an odd album.
So, I'm not familiar enough (or at all) with traditional Brazilian music to really know whether Os Mutantes successfully incorporated cultural mainstays into this album (like the description indicates) or if the slurping, glass-clinking, random banging noises were just weird. Aside from that though, it was interesting to hear the American (or, more accurately, British Invasion of American) rock and roll throughout. Clearly, the Beatles were a big influence - they straight up ripped off a few guitar tones (a la Revolution) and even the Yellow Submarine "yelling into a can" bit. Baby was cool - not just because I actually understood a few words - I genuinely enjoyed it. The rest? not for me.
Not for me
Please, make it stop
Sorry…not for me.
Why so many slurping sounds?
Some songs sounded angelic others creepy
Strange, not my vibe, but appreciate its similarity to some Beatles type stuff. 2
A little too crazy for my taste
Probably no in the right mind set for this one right now... but meh
Brazilian Beatles. A very enjoyable energy. Glad I've heard it, but doubt I will revisit.
ok sure whatever
Sure
It was pretty interesting but I did not liked it
2.8
I liked the beginnings of the songs but they got a little much by the end. I mostly liked Le Premier Bonheur Du Jour.
They should have had the woman sing on every song. I only enjoyed her songs.
Twee 60’s Brazilian Austin powers vibes. Just not my style!
Malo
Did not like
Naw
Oh, no, no, NO. Please, no. It will be hard to forget this.
Prima kut
no thanks
Nicht so meins
Very much not for me. Very chaotic. Sound was off (maybe because it's older, I don't know). Did not like the voices. They used different languages at least in one song, I really dislike when people do that. Something positive: they used unique instruments?
Un completo bodrio
An era of music I don't particularly like done even poorer.
It's so bad ... Can't believe I was actually familiar with a song on here. Now I know what not to listen to.
1001 album, a few gems, and a ton of goofy weird crap. This is the latter 1
All I gotta say is…yikes. The 60s sure seemed like a wild time.
Not for me
No fue mi estilo
I'm sorry, this sucks.
Not my jam
👎🏻
Played almost without skipping as an act of self harm cos there is literally nothing appealing to me on this record. Not sonically, not melodically. Layers and layers of peevishly mixed irritating sounds arranged in the most annoying tone sequences. This is even worse than country music. This is the album that will play on repeat when I die and go to hell.
Tried. Didn’t work for me.
Starting to lose it with this book lol. Remind me why everyone “must” hear this before they die?
This did not seem very cohesive. I feel like I just didn’t understand it. I was kind of surprised to hear that it was from 2013, feels like this could’ve been recorded and maybe the 90s or something. Just because I don’t understand it doesn’t mean it’s bad though.
Brazilian band from the 60s. Think Beatles meets the Beach Boys online from Brazil. Overbaked and the high end is brutal.
Not for me. 1/5
So eerie
A little too funky for my liking. Several songs were very difficult to get through. If we’re picking faves…. A Minha Menina or Senhor F.
I don’t understand why this is here
Komisches Album ohne sinnvolle musikalische Aspekte.
Do you remember back in the day recording the radio station on your cassette tape, but your song didn’t play so you decided to rerecord over that first attempt? There was always an underlying line of the first recording playing beneath your last recording that you could hear through the songs you wanted to keep. That’s what this sounded like to me. A titled song I’m supposed to listen to but some other distorted song playing beneath it. Language barrier aside, I didn’t enjoy this listen as it was agitating on multiple levels.
Hated it.
Meh
Das Album ist wild. Zeitweise sehr anstrengend. Zeitweise einfach egal.
No
Really calming and pretty. Every song is unique in it’s own way. Not a fan of slow songs, so most of this album isn’t for me. Fav song is ‘A Minha Menina’.
Etwas albern
Why would anyone think this should belong on this list
1⭐️ really not for me.. again I’m a lyric girly, but aside from the songs being in a different language (portuguese??) I just found the whole thing a bit strange and abrupt. TOO psychedelic for 9am on a Thursday morning x songs I already knew: n/a fave new song(s): trem fantasma
Hfffffff
• This is going to be the first non-English album I've listened to so far. I've never heard of this artist before, so I have no idea what to expect. • 30 seconds into Panis Et Circenses and this is already completely different to what I thought I would be hearing. It's very experimental, to say the least. • Okay, I've just finished the first track and I have no idea what I've just listened to. I haven't delved into psychedelic music much before. • The guitar in A Minha Menina is so loud and so grating. The rest of the song sounds good but this might be the worst guitar tone I've ever heard. • The high pitched sound in O Relógio is also extremely annoying • Adeus Maria Fulô's instrumental sounds like it would be in a Crash Bandicoot or Yoshi soundtrack • So far, Baby is the track that has sounded most like a song I would listen to, but it also brought back the guitar from A Minha Menina • Senhor F is my favourite so far, the 7/8 broken up by the occasional 4/4 bar in the head of the song sounds cool and it even manages to control the chaos of the rest of the album, at least until the double fade-out and fade-back in. • The back half of this album has been a thousand times better than the first. • I've learned that Tempo No Tempo is a cover of The Mama's and the Papa's, and it definitely sticks out among the rest of the album. This song, along with Trem Fantasma before it, are two of the most "normal" sounding songs from this album. • Ave Gengis Khan is also a good song, the guitar solo almost made me forget what album I was listening to. I've tried to give this album a fair crack, and the second half of it was markedly better, but this really isn't for me. Even in the less out there songs, there would still be something to remind me of what this album is. It's shocking to me that A Minha Menina is their most streamed song on Spotify, when it was one of my least favourites from this album, but I think that just shows that I'm not the target audience for this. Favourite song: Senhor F
I listened to this album for what seemed like 3 hours straight and couldn't believe it was still going. I was absolutely shocked to find out it was only 36 minutes long and I've only been listening for 15 minutes. Its basically Duck Stab without the charm. This album sucked badly.
It's definitely not in my wheelhouse, but that's not the problem here. It's the annoying production. They needlessly mix in different elements of sound that just don't fit. random bangs, clanks, squeaks and boings in places that just do NOTHING to help the music or emphasize anything.
*loud slurp*
not great
2.0/10 Oh man this was a tough one to get through. I was tempted to bail halfway through in case things got better but it was more of the same. Rough listen for me! First 1 star that I’ve given out. :(
Aaarrrggggghhhhhhh. It’s kinda cool, but it’s also what gets played when you’re at a party and someone finds out you like music, so they show you this *super obscure* something that makes them seem eclectic, when in actuality they never really listen to this crap and what they’re really trying to do is show off.
Not my thing, I'm afraid.
1 Star (2/15)
To be honest, the album is just not my jam. Therefore, I'm not going to write a whole review where I'm subconsciously trying to convince myself I liked it. It's psychedelic as hell and it's definitely the first time I've ever heard something like this from a country other than the US and Europe. In that respect, it was unique and interesting. When I was passively listening, the harmonies, keys, guitars, horns sometimes made me think of Magical Mystery Tour and the Stones' psychedelic records at times. But sticking to my gut here, sorry Os Mutantes.
Their use of homemade instruments really shine through on this album
Maybe back in the 60's it was good, not now.
Weird
below average
Not for me
Got kinda excited based on the description, but from the hop I knew it wasn't for me. Couldn't get 3 songs in.
Jangling trumpets and wailing – that’s noise, not music
Psychedelic 60's Brazilian rock. Sounds like a soundtrack to a Brazilian Austin Powers movie. Pitchfork: n/a Rolling Stone: n/a Best Songs
I’m all for listening to music in a foreign language. This just… wasn’t it lol.
I have this album a legitimate chance but it was just a lot of noise that didn’t always seem to go together.
Kadett, HDH - Ulm, Deutschland. Ganz ganz schlimm.
Crap psychedelic music
Not really my bag. I can appreciate some of the psychedelic music from back in the 60's and all, but not when it is being sung in Portuguese.
Nope
meh
This is terrible
No thanks
Wow more techno shit.
Not a lot to say about this album. Less-than-shoddy production and a sound that is at best derivative and at worst unappealing make this album very forgettable. Like discount-Beatles without any charm
I'm not on near enough drugs to enjoy this.... Favorite songs: A Minha Menina Least favorite songs: Trem Fantasma 1/5
The only thing this helped me with is showing off that, yes, I do know what a cuíca is.
This is so bad it’s surely got to be self pleasure performance art. What is worse - I understand enough of the language to know it’s even worse than it would be if I only spoke English … I require therapy to recover from having to listen to this. Horrendous.
1/1
Discordant hodgepodge. Seemed like the sort of thing someone would listen to and claim they were edgy and informed. French mess.
Didn’t feel like giving this a shot
Fuckin God no
Featuring all of the groovy sounds popular in the late 60's (cheesy organs, ratty overdriven guitar, sound effects, etc.), this album is as dated as they come. It just seems...musty. The production on this record is slapdash and the songs are frequently corny. The abrupt changes within the songs and the heavy guitar effects are attempts at making a cutting-edge album but instead end up being grating on the ear. There's too much weird for the sake of weirdness on this record, had they played it straight these tracks might have been more appealing.
Absolutely dire
Wtf was that
Not my jam
Meh
🤮
Good lord, i took a week off from this project to go on a vacation and then i come back to this?! Os Mutantes is an albums that somehow manages to commit nearly every no no in music possible in just 36 minutes. I'm not gonna fault the lyrics since they are in Spanish and i am still a beginner in learning that language and the vocals are about as good as they could be with the limited resources but what i will fault is the music. There is everything here from terrible compositions to awful instrumentation amplified by terrible audio recording and mixing even for 1968 and that's when the songs aren't having immense identity crises. The other aspects are not so terrible but when the music is this unbelievably bad, i can't give this album any higher than a 1. Best Song: Le Premier Bonheur Du Jour Worst Song: Panis Et Circenses
Feels like an experimental art piece. The production is a hot mess, levels and distortion that is so obvious and irritating it has to be intentional? The artist seems to also be a big fan of ambient sound and features it is most songs. Not a fun listening experience
I bet these guys are annoying as shit to hang out with. I put this on during dinner and my wife was confused as shit. We made it a song and a half and had to dinner it off. Apparently not dinner party music. I tried a couple more times to get into this but ultimately couldn’t listen to very much. So ultimately this gets a “fuck off”
This list is fucking stupid
Not my thing.
I guess the 1001 Album Generator hates me during this holiday season. 3 out of 4 days in a row with foreign music. I listened to about half of this album and again, didn't understand a word and the music wasn't anything that made it special. Just not my jam. 1/5
1 ster.
Rough listen
Painful
bo r in g
There’s one great tune on here, but it’s not enough to lift it up from one star, that’s how bad the rest of it is
This list really needs more psychedelic rock from the late 60s, there just isn't quite enough.
1.5
Probably one of the worst albums I've gotten here.
Not my jam
Psychedelic rock is not my thing, I think not understanding the words might be helping though. This is like a cross between psychedelic rock and pop...this is like something that would be on at a hipster taqueria where the bartender has a unique and well maintained mustache. I could do without the "found sound" in every song. It must have been tiresome for these bands to try and outweird each other for a decade. The slide whistle across these songs feels like they had to find an instrument for one of the singers to play so they were involved in all the songs. The switching between genres in the same song is unpleasant. All the distortion is too much. This is like a collection of sounds being played over Brazilian covers of '60s American pop. This music is exhausting to listen to. Hail Ghengis Khan is the final song....I get this probably has something to do with the social criticism of the Brazilian government at the time but what a stupid title. Astrud Gilberto + The Mamas and the Papas + Dick Dale + Random Sounds + Jefferson Airplane = Os Mutantes...what a terrible mish mash of noise.
Albums like this test me like never before.
Not what I like, even remotely.
Horrif
I’m sure there are plenty of listeners out there who’d appreciate this group’s experimental sounds. I’m not one of them.
Couldn’t finish this album.
Not my jam.

This was chaotic and weird at times, which seems to be a theme of that era. While I appreciate it, I won’t listen again. Not for me.
Lateinamerikanische Pop Märchenmusik der 68er Generation
....weird
Not my thing
.(.
This works not for me - not at all
I was interested from the description, but this ended up just being a lot of chirpy nonsense
Wth
Me: Can we have The Beatles? Mom: No, we have The Beatles at home. The Beatles at home:
Oh boy, back to the rainforest with you and take your flutey things with you and be gone.
It's not for me
Not my thing
Hard to listen, mercifully short.
Not a fan
Blur the line between experimental and noise.
I’ve never made an album so can’t fully appreciate how hard it is to make one. I’ve never done drugs. I’ve never experienced being intoxicated. I’m not a fan. This album made me feel high, drunk and increasingly paranoid. It’s like take some drugs as your out for a walk and then you suddenly wake up on a swan pedalo on a lake in the middle of Lisbon with a nipple piercing, hand tattoos, shaved head and an inflatable hippo under your left arm. This one isn’t for me.
This was unpleasant. There were a couple songs with good parts but then they would always throw in something that was just quite unfortunate, really. The lady who sings on the first song sounds like the I Play Pokemon Go Every Day kid. 2/10
What even was this dog meat album. Even if it was in English I bet it will still have sucked moose bawls. Ez 1. Nothing good about it. Book should be top 1,000 albums and they should remove this one
Wtf.
Yeah - I have no idea what this was trying to be. They have no consistency in theme, genre, cohesiveness in any way. The whole thing sounds like a weird troll haha.
Hate it
I’m a weird guy. I’m very weird musically. But this is too weird. Yours sincerely, Frank Grimes Jnr.
What the fuck is this?
Hate it
AJ: lasted 30 seconds. No bueno.
Brazlian Beatles, how strange. Enjoyed a couple of tracks but it gets very psychadelic and the language barrier makes it hard to enjoy too much. There is also a weird tinnyness to the album which really annoyed me. It was espeically grating on Bat Macumba. Highlights: A Minha Menina
Pure shite
I only got three songs in but couldn’t do the rest
I didn’t know this band before it came up as our album today. I read the blurb about them and thought that maybe I would like it because it was tropicalia, and also thought that perhaps the psychedelic part would be fun mixed in. .I was wrong. It is fine as background music. There was one song that seeemed like it could be a soundtrack for a Tom and Jerry cartoon. And there was a part during the Mamas and Papas cover where I thought my phone alarm was going off. (My alarm is bell tower).
Don't get it.
meh
A very strange album, definite psychedelia apparent. Not a fan
I didn't need to hear that. The cover artwork should have been a dead giveaway... Sucks!
Levyssä on ainakin yritetty erikoisuutta, mutta suurimmaksi osaksi ainakin ihan hirvittävää kuunneltavaa. Viimeinen kappale ainoa vähän siedettävä
Trifecta of sins on this album. 1. It does terrible covers. 2. It uses a monkey drum. 3. It’s foreign to me and it’s not Rammstein!!!!! I did enjoy other foreign albums on this list, but why this and not RAMMSTEIN!!?? Clear blind spot.
Beats were alright but I don't like foreign language music much
Too weird and slow
lame
This shit was too ridiculous for me. Sound like a church choir while also trying to be the doors. Out on that 1/10
No lo escuché. No llamó mi atención.
Grote griebels, wat was dat..
This really isn't my kind of thing. I find it hard to rate something when I have no comparative point of reference. I don't understand the music, the language or the late 60's humour. I'm sure it meant something to someone at the time. But it's just not music for me.
Really don’t have much to say for this album. Didn’t understand much of it but truly the Latin style wasn’t terrible. It was ok background music but nothing more. 2.3/10
Os Mutantes' debut album blends traditional Brazilian music with psychedelia rock. It's well known as being an interesting or "far out" album because it is trippy, Brazilian sounding music. The sounds on this album are more experimental than other psychedelia rock from this time, but it is well produced. I don't speak Portuguese so I can't understand the lyrics - which is probably similar to most listeners - but the album can still be enjoyed for its trippy music. In conclusion, the album was certainly intriguing, but none of the songs really stuck out to me. Perhaps one should be high when listening to this album to fully understand the music.
Strange trippy 60s stuff. Not great.
Totally bollocks
Not only the worst of the 60s but also in Spanish
Comedy album. Zero points.
Cacophonous.
It's just not pleasant to listen to. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was at first, but after a bit of ear-scratching noise, I figured out that it was mainly the little things in the songs. Random uses of instruments that don't belong, weird effects placed on the guitar and voice that bleed your ears, and an emphasis on loud noises will surely cause you to dislike this album.
Just not for me. "Tempo No Tempo" and "Ave Gengis Khan" were good.
nonsense. difficult to listen to and appreciate.
Empecé a escucharlo y no lo toleré. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Inescuchable x1000. Lo intenté. Realmente lo intenté.
why am I getting albums in Portuguese.
Didn't like this at all. 1/5 stars.
Psychedelic and disjointed. Very disappointing
I could only get through like 2 songs, maybe not in the right frame of mind for it.
nope
Prepare for ultimate brazilian psychedelic indie music. Like Pink Floyd, but swap Dave Gilmour for immensly creative and strange instrumental outbreaks. Also be sure to borrow some Mamas and the Papas Vocal Harmony, pair it with the brazilian language, and: ét voilá!
