hip hop.

Rappist

I prefer my WU whole

583/1001 2026.04.01 🌕🌗🌑🌑🌑

I got scared

Not for me

didn't like, not my style

I didnt enjoy it. Way too much of this on the list.

Not for me

Music/beats are cool. Vocals not my thing.

p765. 1995. 1 star. Rap. Wrong audience. Don't like rap. Don't get rap. Hard pass from me.

Incredibly boring in my opinion. I wouldn't be able to name anything that stands out on this album if you asked me tomorrow. Not really violent, not really connecting, not really angry. What kind of rap album is this trying to be? 1/5

Another hip hop album that leaves me cold. I was around in 1995 but it's from a different place/environment/accent. Removing the expletives leaves few words I can understand/relate to. The music has a rhythm but without any vocals I can understand it's just way too repetitive.

I like it when rappers actually consider the musical aspect of their songs. The problem is that I just didn't like this attempt at it. The title track was a good track, however.

See my notes for "Enter the Wu Tang" or whatever it's called. This is the same, but worse. Thank god it's over!

I tried but couldn't get through it.

I am not a huge fan of this genre. So unfortunately, this misses the mark for me.

I'm not really sure how to rate this album. Felt like the interludes and skits took over. Nothing stood out to me. But of a meh hip-hop album.

Production value is high on this record. Personal interest in this kind of rap, low.

Don't think I'm going to be joining the Wu-Tang clan any time soon 😏

It was fun to listen to while I rode my bike to work, but not memorable enough to want to listen to it on the ride home.

Not my style of music.

I hate Wu-Tang with a vengeance and this is them by the back door. Absolutely abysmal dross. 1/5 16/9/25

Not a rap fan

Not really a fan at all, there is some interesting stuff in this. Generally though it does not hold up for me. There are a few neat sounds.

Oh my...what type of liquid are we talking about?

very much not my style, could not even finish the entire album

I feel bad to automatically rate (almost!) every rap album low, but to me that sounds like an audiobook with bad background music.

Can I give a zero rating?

Once again this is wasted on me. Underlying music is simple and repetitive and holds no interest, it's just a base plate for the lyrics and samples of some movie. I read the lyrics and didn't feel any wiser.

Starting the first track with one minute and 20 seconds of talking did not set a good mood for this album. Unfortunately, things did not improve from there. I would not recommend it.

Way too anime

OMG... waste of time... all i can think about while listening to this cow patty, is what album got knocked off the list by this piece of S***?

Not for me. Think there are better hip hop albums out there

If horse shit was an album

Crappie crap!

didmt even get into

Dull and repetitive. Nothing stands out and it all sounds the same. I knew this was going to be garbage from the trashy cover art.

drie nummers ver... variatie zero... fun zero... mic drop...

Not my taste

excelemt

Eh. 1.5 stars I guess

Rap, 1995 -> 1

doesn't suit my taste

lyrical intensity doesn't equal enjoyable or quality art.

Nothing against Wu Tang Clan. Just could not listen. Most songs that if it was playing in a public place, I'd have to ask them to turn it off, you get a 1.

Hip Hop - 20eme album =>1/5

This is pretty bad, even by hip-hop standards. The 90s had it rough for the genre as a whole. Melodically, harmonically, and in terms of overall sound, Liquid Swords is incredibly repetitive and tedious. The fairly long (55 minutes) album runtime doesn't help. Each track, rather than being a snapshot of a particular texture of artificial drumbeats and monotonous yelling, is instead a sluggish 4 and a half minutes of a particular texture of artificial drumbeats and monotonous yelling. The strongest tracks were those which at least combined these elements with a catchy one- or two-bar loop. In this case, the catchiest songs contained saxes, synths, and other melodic instruments. A few scattered basslines show promise, but surprisingly many of them are just one-bar loops of semitone movement, which gets old fast. The lyrics are also just about the most bland you can get for hip-hop, despite GZA being touted as one of the greatest lyricists in the genre. After the twentieth mention of nerds (well, the other n-word) and sex in one song, it's difficult to really take the lyricist seriously. One track that was a particular letdown for me was the album closer, B.I.B.L.E.. The lyrics are so close to being genuinely great, but then we get towards the end where GZA talks about teaching his kid to follow the word of God: "Son, life is a pool of sin, corrupted with foolish men And women with wicked minds who build picket signs To legalize abortion, the evil eye extortion I quiz son with my wisdom" ...Yeah. Pretty rough. If this is meant to be satire on bad people, it's a little too well-disguised. Otherwise, GZA is just another one of far too many terrible people in the music industry. And he doesn't hide it well. One of the top-rated reviews here claims that GZA's music is fresh and exciting when performed live. I have to believe that, because there must be a reason for this guy's success, and this album is not it. (Nor is Enter The Wu-Tang, another weak album on this list.) 1/5 Key tracks: Shadowboxin', I Gotcha Back

Not into this

Not the worst rap album, but still not my thing. 1.5/5

This is a big fat resounding no for me. Couldn't finish.

Rap - Hip-hop -- not my taste

With the repetitive beats and the monotone rapping, liquid swords is definitely not for me.

Not a fan of RAP music at all. Violent imagery just doesn't do it for me. Cartoonish or not. Seen, heard and read enough of it to last me the rest of my life.

Not my style

The same than yesterday! 😡

zamuła

No thanks, zero interest.

not my thing

First listen Saved 2/13 Top track: Shadowboxin'

His flow is great. But that's about it. The lyrics are above-average. But why is popular hip hop SO thematically homogenous? Imagine if 60's folk (another lyric-centric genre) singers wrote of NOTHING but: (1) their reefer and amphetamines; (2) how attentive and considerate they were in the act of love; and (3) how stupendous their skills were in light of the lack of sophistication among all of the other Gibson-playing, black turtle neck wearing squares? It'd make the genre even worse than it is - which brings us back to popular hip hop. Moreover, the backing tracks, here, are trite and the atonal ornamentation (no doubt added as the creative "theme") is so chaotically incorporated that the producer comes off sounding like a tone deaf twelve-year old.

Not my kind of thing

This is noise with the same monotonous beat in every song.

Not my thing.

I don’t like rap music

Like to give zero. Same noise and lyrics as the other dozen WTC guys albums

Lone wolf and cub reference was interesting. That’s about it.

Awwwwwwful!! I gave it a try but can't take it!

i really like this typa music however it just didnt do it for me

Not a fan.

To use a culinary metaphor: Chef tastes dish. "Hmm, this is pretty mundane and derivative. Sriracha is popular. Let's dump Sriracha on everything. It may all taste the same, but it will get their attention."

I don‘t like Hip-Hop. The aggressive attitude is boring.

Could Not Listen more than one Minute. It is awful

Not for me

Can’t stand rap

Not my style. The storytelling segments mixed with the music was interesting but also felt a bit disjointed.

not in the mood

Trash.

Nah! Not my thing. Only B.i.B.L.E was kind of good

Not my music

Not my type of music. Would give zero stars if I could.

Ég entist ekki í gegnum alla plötuna. Dreeeeepleiðinlegt drasl.

okay no idea who these people are… 1. Liquid Swords - okay child is giving a narration, is this the whole thing?, okay nvm, that was a long ass intro, so old school hip hop, it’s not bad ig but i’m not really a fan of this one, it’s a bit slow - not the kind of rap that i like, i liked the ending instruments 2. Duel Of The Iron Mic - stop that is such a sick name, i see a theme with the introduction thing, i think i like this instrumental more, idk i think i just find it a bit boring 3. Living In The World Today - not a big fan, don’t like it, again i think it’s boring, the ending bass is nice 4. Gold - i didn’t even realise a new song had started 😭😭 had to rewind it loool, once again old school hip hop, it’s too long to the point i wanna skip 😬 5. Cold World - so are they doing that on purpose? making the beginning of a song sound the same as the ending of the one before??? that’s pretty cool, this one has a bit more of like a tune ig, oh it’s got a singing chorus but i don’t like it 😪😫, i feel like there’s a lot of dissonance 6. Labels - okay wait i like the beat for this, eh it was okay 7. 4th Chamber - sounds a bit sci-fi, hm interesting, this album is too long 😭😭😭😭😭 i cba i don’t like it at all, do u kno how many times i’ve yawned listening to this album 8. Shadowboxin’ - there’s actually not much more i can talk about this album if all the songs are gna all sound the same, falling asleep, it’s really not my tastes 9. Hells Wind Staff/ Killah Hills 10304 - i actually love how they make the songs continuous, makes it seem like a story or something, what am i listening to, this is genuinely a story, HAHAHAHA, that was funny, Tony Stark 👀, my man Mohammad from afganistan????, yk i would probably enjoy this more if i was the type to listen to lyrics first rather than melody and instrumental 10. Investigative Reports - i actually don’t mind this one, it was alright 11. Swordsman - icl atp it’s just like background noise for me rn, not vibing, 12. I Gotcha Back - okay strong start with that instrumental, i think this one’s not that bad, i wouldn’t listen to it like in my own time but i think it’s better than the rest, i liked that little instrument thing, it’s so flipping long man, i might just skip, nvm airpods died, okay i’m back i’ll just listen to the rest of it, instrumental section and it isn’t even nice, what in the smegul, don’t breathe in my ear 13. B.I.B.L.E (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) - LAST ONE FINALLY, again if i paid attention to lyrics id probably enjoy this more, but it’s not boring at least, what an interesting song, i actually read the lyrics while it was going, felt a lot shorter than the others but i think that’s cos i was actually interested

Def not my kind of music. Some of the songs are kinda creepy...

Just literally no desire to listen to this album. It's so not my thing. I'm sure it's good and worthy of being on my list. Just not for me whatsoever.

not my style

Not liked, listened to the complete album

I appreciate music is personal taste, and this a genre i avoid lime the plague. But this is absolute drivel. Monotonous backround beat and spouting out offensive, non sensical lyrics. It really doesn't get much worse than this. By using some samples from a film apparently elevated this guy fo superztarxom. Blimey, theres hope for all of us.

Not my kind of music (yet again). Next!

noooooo

Not for me

Really didn’t enjoy this record at all. Some of the beats were cool, but none of the rapping was interesting to me.

I don't get it. Most tracks sound like multiple rappers were recorded independently and their performances were layered together without regard for overlap or context. Give me Ice T or 50 Cent over this any day.

Rap no rhythm.

Terrible album and hard to finish...

Not a big fan of rap and newer hip hop. And this one doesn’t change my views..

Hip-Hop. *sigh* The cover looked to promising ... 1/5

I tried twice to get through this and failed. Maybe not the worst band I’ve ever heard but definitely in the running. 0/5

Did not enjoy

Not my type. Couldn't reach the end.

As a forever Wu-tang fan, this wasn’t my first introduction to this album, and honestly there’s a reason it’s not part of the standard playlist. This is ultimately unforgettable and just uninspiring. It doesn’t really generate a mood in me, nor does any mood I have seek out this album.

Not my style

boring

More gangster crap. Boring and ugly.

Ugh, rap.
