Not my usual vibe, but actually really liked this. I liked the mix of metal and orchestral stuff. Definitely going to get running to it.

Gave it a few listens, got better each time. Love that grizzly French voice.

When the first track started, I thought I was at a circus. And it all went downhill from there. I'm struggling to find a positive to the album. Maybe, the fact I couldn't hear the end of it because of all the blood that had collected in my ears. Would not recomend, avoid at all costs.

I found this album really interesting but I wasn’t quite sure. I was feeling pretty anxious when I listened to it which probably didn’t help. Would definitely like to listen again to fully make up my mind.

A group and album Iv never heard of, this was interesting both in soundscape and French vocals. Glad I listened and deserves its place on the list, but not sure I’ll be rushing back.

dude what in the hell? Rue des Tempetes rocks. The title track is cool. It oscillated between like motorhead style metal and french cafe music in a post apocalyptic steampunk universe. I can see this music scratching a very very specific itch.

Foreign metal. Like rare earth metals. I know I need it, but really, how much do I want to have it?

Has a very "Du Hast" vibe, without anything being as close as entertaining as that song. French industrial is a bit tough to listen to and kind of a chore to get through. There are a few times the music gets a groove going, but the vocal delivery and foreign language makes it a bit more challenging to enjoy.

Wonderfully insane French rambling nonsense - I loved it! Hundreds of different styles and feelings, all with a cheeky nod to silliness. Great fun, and a great album

Not an east listen - had to put it on a few times to 'get it' - rewarding though. Lots of interesting tricks in the music, didn't love the vocals though and my French isn't good enough to understand it anyway.

Well I'm glad I listened to their masterpiece and not one of their shit albums.

Impressively tedious, combining the worst of metal-industrial and oompah bands. It is notably cleaner and airier from a production perspective than most metal, but that's like saying some toxic sludge has a nicer patina than other toxic sludge.And to think one ever liked the Swans.

I had not heard of this band or this record, and am on a bit of a stretch where I've been getting a lot of records I have never heard of. More often than not they are not the best, but I was pleasantly surprised with this. Very cool early industrial music. I'm sure Trent Reznor was inspired by this band. Definitely dug it!

As a fan of Nine Inch Nails, this kept my interest well enough. Longue Route is a pretty good one. I can hear the echoes of this influence in NIN, Mike Patton’s various groups, Trans Am, Rammstein, Meat Beat Manifesto. Inventive use of samples, and pads, I think.

This is definitely an odd album with a unique sound. It sounds like the soundtrack to an art house 80s vampire flick. Some of it is quite harsh and industrial and the lyrics are pretty bizarre at times. The singer does have a very rough gravely voice. Not for me.

It’s always an exciting day in this household when one of the lowest rated albums on the site gets recommended. I’ll wonder to myself, “Is it truly bad (Kid Rock’s “Devil Without a Cause”) or is just outside of the comfort zone of the users of this site (Lightning Bolt’s “Wonderful Rainbow)?” Half of this kind of sounds like Nine Inch Nails circa Broken, the other half like a Tom Waits score for Cirque Du Soleil, all sung in French. If those things appeal to you…enjoy the madness. It ain’t for me man, but I’ve heard worse albums on this list.

Maybe I would have liked this better if I could speak French. Otherwise probably never listen again.

This album made me want to punch a street mime, but not in a good way. The parts that I liked were done to better effect by bands like Ministry, Wire, Front 242, and Skinny Puppy. I hope none of those albums were excluded from this list in order to include this one.

I couldn’t get through two songs

Not sure what to think of this. Someone wrote nine inch nails meets punk Floyd. Yes true, but I would add some Foetus to it. I am a big fan of all three artists/groups but somehow this did not blew me away.

Ok probably the weirdest albums on this list, like bizarre French grunge music. Makes me want to protest or something. Not bad as it’s certainly entertaining 2.3

I have never heard of this band or album at all. Wikipedia says they're a Swiss Industrial Rock group - sounds like a good soundtrack for greeting my visiting family the day before Thanksgiving! I wrote a very long breakdown of each song and then didn't save it. But this was a cool listen, tracks vary from horror cabaret to Industrial metal and yet weirdly go together. The use of sampling and production effects had cool results when listening through headphones.

Assuming this record was added by accident and was supposed to be on the list of 1001 Albums You Should Die Before Listening To. Yikes.

Actually kinda liked the trippy circus-like French oddness up front, promised something new and different which I’m always down for. Seemed that the creative spirit left after the first track or two, though, as the album ground itself down into a monotonous Grindcore kinda thing? As a whole the LP felt a bit rushed and lacking in direction, disappointing given the jolt of novelty it promises up front.

I'm tempted to rank this higher because it's so weird and I think some of the tracks have a lot of artistic merit but it just does not sound that good most of the time. Will be revisiting soon to befuddle and disorient friends when I'm on the aux.

This feels like it was made when people were still working out how to use samples. It's interesting and I'm sure it pushed things forward a bit, but it's just not always that listenable.

Hm, per the description they're an industrial band? Okay. That would be wonderful, but the beginning of this first track is not very industrial. When i think Industrial I think KMFDM, NIN, Ministry etc. I do love French music though so even if it's not that kind of Industrial I can still dig it. I love that I can understand some of these lyrics. Thanks Duo Lingo. Their Spotify bio says they were pioneers of Industrial Punk so I'm still holding out for something amazing. Oh snap, nearing the end of this track and it's beginning to show promise. lol. Okay this did become exactly what I wanted it to become. I gotta say this is pretty fucking great. We've all heard industrial German bands like KMFDM, and Ramstein, and you'd expect that from German. But French!? French is the love language. So to hear these dark, growly French lyrics is a new experience for me. Refreshing! Super diggin this. I hear some Nitzerebb influences in here as well as Skinny Puppy. This album quickly climbed to 5 stars!!

"L'eau rouge" is the second album by Swiss industrial rock band the Young Gods. Industrial rock, dark cabaret and symphonic metal are the listed genres. I like those descriptions. The Young Gods bandmembers are Cesare Pizzi (keyboards), Use Hiestand (drums) and Franz Triechler (vocals). This album is considered their masterpiece. Interestingly, the band decides to open with a waltz in "La fille de la mort" ("The Daughter of Death"). Didn't see that coming and not the last one. There's a droning organ and synth strings. Lead singer Franz Treichler is screaming. The song changes near the end and goes chaotic with the keyboards; they do that a lot throughout the album. "L'eau rouge" ("The Red Water") is dark with a hypnotic drumbeat. Franz with a creepy voice. The song speeds up and again goes chaotic, this time a guitar added. The drums are all over the place. The second side opens with "Longue route" ("Long Route"). Alright, this is more like it. A thrash metal guitar. Pounding/thumping drums. Random gunshot sounds. More metal guitar. Rumbling drums and a slashing guitar welcome us to "Les enfants" ("The Children"). Weird and dramatic synth sounds. The guitar and synth echo each other. I don't what he's doing or saying but it doesn't sound good. This was fairly intense. I like intense. I'm a fan of late 80's/90's industrial music and bands like Ministry and NIN and this fits that. They add a little variety with the waltzes, thrash metal guitar and drumbeats. Recommended for metal/industrial music fans.

Those vocals are eerie as fuck, but it REALLY works with the instrumentals? Perfect for the start of autumn. Depending on what kind of autumn you wanna have.

Hmm, do I like this? It gets real metal in places, sometimes reminded me of what Laibach in French would sound like, and there were even a few times I thought of Tom Waits, and then back to the metal. I may not play this at parties, but I enjoyed listening to something quite distinctive today. Thank you.

This was interesting. Kind of a French electronics-heavy metal by way of Tom Waits. I’m not in love with it and suspect additional listens wouldn’t change that, but it sure was interesting to listen to.

I liked a few songs but golly gee is it hard to after the third day in a row of Industrial music, but this is by far the better of the three I have had so far.

I don't know The Young Gods and all of the music on L'Eau Rouge was new to me. I had a hard time getting in to this album. The opening track is a good example of the album as a whole. The music started out slow and unremarkable, devolving into noise, but finds some energy at the end. The growl (not quite) singing is part of what's holding me back. There are vocalists who aren't great singers that I appreciate, but the surrounding music has to be at a certain level to capture my attention. Is this music metal or art rock? I finally started to settle in with the sixth track ("Crier les chiens") where the energy of the music got me past the growl of the vocals. I'm rounding up to 3 stars, because I can't say that disliked the listening experience. It took me a while to figure out how to enjoy what I was listening to.

Album #12 Full disclosure - I do not speak or understand French so I cannot make an opinion on lyrical content. Where has this album been? This sounds like the French analogue of Pretty Hate Machine-era Nine Inch Nails. A little more minimalist though, but it works. I really enjoy this style of music (industrial), with short samples being looped, heavy guitar work and driving drumwork. I also like the circus-sounding samples in some of the songs. I feel like I should be listening to this while reading some Sandman comic books. A firm 4* from me.

Weird French industrial

The Young Gods are a Swiss band who sing in French. Wikipedia gives the genre as Industrial Rock, Dark Cabaret, Symphonic Metal, some might call it pretentious. I quite liked "Rue des Tempêtes" but could quite happily live without the rest of the album.

Nice album! Very original, groundbreaking, once in a lifetime achievement. Inspired countless different bands like X and Y. We are truly living in the Post - L'Eau Rouge era. Excellent stuff. The only issue? It's unlistenable and I hate it. Of course it's only a small problem in a sea of superlatives, but the hatred is of purest quality, so I'm sorry The Young Gods, it's a very considerable 1.

Interesting album. Sort of reminded me of the Butthole Surfers without the humor (I think?), but also like a French Swans. The sampling technique is innovative, if jarring (is this what comes on in French people’s heads when they see tourists?). Couldn’t listen to this casually, but will file it under the gym agro Euro edition.

This album may have been influential for the time (to be honest, I don’t really know), but it’s just fine nowadays. L’Eau Rouge is an industrial rock album, with some twists. Most importantly, its use of orchestral instruments. There are a few points (I think like 3 songs) where the Young Gods bring in an orchestra and these songs are the best on the album. The first track in particular is neat for starting as this nice and soothing orchestra piece before becoming abrasive and harsh. The vocals become more guttural and the song just works. It’s probably why the first track is my favorite track. The other tracks using strings are neat, but it’s the first track that does it. I should also note there’s this metal sounding song that uses the orchestra and it’s pretty cool, albeit it’s only one song near the beginning. Other than that, it’s just industrial rock. I will give it credit, some of the production choices are really interesting, like the use of sampling (something you don’t see everyday when listening to rock music) and the manipulation of those samples (sometimes they are made quieter then louder and then quieter and also the reversal and un-reversal of said samples) which add some flavor to this album. Other than that, this album does really just peak in the first song. It’s something I truly hate when the first song is so good and then the rest of the album is good but nowhere near as good as the first song. I kind of wish the album was just the use of orchestra and sampling as I think that’d be neat. As it stands, it’s an interesting industrial rock album that could have been more. 7/10.

Literally none of this left an impact on me. Is it loud and abrasive? Yes, but none of it actually struck a chord with me, for better or worse. There's parts that sound like Tom Waits, but when this guy does it, it feels gross, not interesting. I don't hate this enough for a one star, but I wish stuff like the string samples were used more interestingly.

My second one star album. I feel like this album was created by the CIA so they can use it to torture prisoners. Straight up painful to listen to.

They are clearly talented musicians and what they've created is impressive. However impressive doesn't necessarily mean good.

When I saw "industrial" in the description I got excited but this is not what I had in mind. Another Tom Waits except this time he's angry and French (or Swiss). Some of the orchestration is pretty cool and I might be able to get into it if it weren't for the vocals.

Never have I heard a French person so angry. Softer instrumental moments like the opening to the first song and the entirety of “Charlotte” sound like Tom Waits if he learned French, while the rest of the tracklist is closer to Captain Beefheart but going completely industrial. This shits cool

Did not enjoy this, but it was definitely interesting. My French isn't good enough to understand what he's on about, but the titles of the tracks suggest some unpleasantness that definitely chimes with how it sounds. A lot of the commenters on the site mention how it sounds a bit like Tom Waits in places, and I'd agree, a really deep raspy voice at the centre of it all, but it also goes into the creepier end of metal in places. 2/5, worth one listen but no repeat.

Wow - This is not at all what I expected. I've seen The Young Gods name around for decades and (for no good reason) I kinda thought they were something like Fun Lovin' Criminals. Most of this did nothing for me, but some of the more atmospheric stuff was interesting.

Please stay as sober as possible while listening to this album, otherwise you might lose your mind. When the first track devolved into utter chaos, I wasn't sure I was still on planet earth. And as an American who's only language is English, it was even more unsettling not having any clue what the vocalist was shouting at me. But he sounded mad. I think this record is a fun, unexpected turn, even if it suffers from the 80s production a bit too much. The macabre, synthetic swells and circus music make this feel like a Tom Waits record in a few spots, and that's where I had the most fun. The industrial metal side of things turned me off for the most part.

It's funny, when I was listening to the live album that came out this week, I said to myself that I wanted more French music. The gods listened, but this wasn't what I was expecting. Kind of a french metal/alternative type album. I didn't love it, but I've appreciated the uniqueness of some of these albums we have gotten recently.

What is this, French week? Two French albums a few days apart, very odd. This one's got a lot more for me than the previous. It started out sounding almost the same as the other, but there's some fantastic rock instrumentation and energy. The singer really put his life on the line on some of these tracks, I respect it. Favorite tracks: La fille de la mort, Rue des tempetes, L'eau rouge. Album art: Really hard to even tell what this is. But I like the neon sign-looking font a lot. Color-wise, this reminds me of the Cure's Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. I hope we get that on here at some point. 3/5

What the heck did I just listen to...? some thoughts my fiancee and I sent back and forth on Discord while listening: "I'm in an evil french depression" "churning, dissonant strings and a french man yelling angrily... finally some good fucking music" "it's like french tom waits in an abandoned factory" "sort of a rammstein-in-paris vibe" all in all, it was super weird but I didn't completely hate it. individual songs would go from parts I loved to parts that sounded insane and back again, but I get it. it was the 80s, these things happen. favorites: (parts of) la fille de la mort and longue route?

Haha experimental music. Schizophrenia to my ears with its high anxiety mood and all-over-the-place sound. It's loud and atmospheric with its wall of sound, satisfying that symphonic metal genre. The random abrasive samples and dark percussions are one of the earliest examples show signs of various gothic music of the 80s, but also predate the style industrial music would take in the 90s with NiN and Ministry. A lot of this music I could hear being played in gothic clubs. But we also get some weird vaudeville music, related to that "dark cabaret" genre, in tracks like "La fille de la mort" and "Charlotte." Honestly, I thought they killed it in the first half (although I got a few complains) but the second half started sounding pretty generic. "Crier les chiens" and "Ville notre" sound almost identical and are pretty forgettable. "Les enfants" is fairly interesting but a bit over-the-top and repetitive in what it does, and unnecessarily goes on for far too long. "L'Amourir" is actually a really sick industrial metal track. "Pas Mal" is pretty decent and has some cool effects but didn't impress me too much.

Never even remotely heard of this one before! But the Wikipedia genre tags of industrial rock, dark cabaret, and symphonic metal certainly caught my attention. The first track is a slow burn that had me feeling like I'd been duped for a few minutes, but once the album gets going it goes. Bowie, The Edge, and Mike Patton all cite The Young Gods and their sample-based approach to music as an inspiration. After listening, and reminding myself a few times that this was released in 1989, I can see why - this is super cool stuff. I'm not well-versed in the history of industrial music to know what else was going on around this time, but it certainly sounds to me like this was probably ahead of its time. Some parts definitely sound aged by now, but a lot of it stands up pretty well. Will definitely be revisiting this one!

It's an odd coincidence that I was just watching a documentary about the history of industrial music the other day and get treated to an industrial album today. This album has a lot of the elements that would be featured in the industrial music of the 90s. It develops a little bit slowly, which is fine, but I'm more used to industrial in the mold of NIN or Ministry. Overall, it's a really cool album that serves as a nice transition from the early industrial stuff that was pretty hard to listen to and the really popular industrial stuff from the 90s and 00s. 4/5

When I saw this, I groaned, French, average rating of 2.3...is this another Serge Gainsburg. I was wrong, I loved this, French industrial metal...ie French Rammstien, sign me up

This one was a bit of a shock at first. I was not mentally prepared for this album. I had a thought that shifted my perceptions, though. Part of the way through the second song, I thought, "This is like the soundtrack to some sort of twisted, post-industrial, dystopic carnival." And then I kinda loved it. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of wordless screeching and noise for the sake of noise. But if they were going for the gothy death circus vibe... well, they nailed it. Still not a jam I'm adding to the regular rotation but, for the right mood, it's a distinct vibe.

Ahahahahahah this is fucking mental, I love it. There's no way I would ever have listened to this were it not for this project. I had a young god's t-shirt when I was a kid, used for decorating and whatnot, I have no idea where it came from or who they were. Gets less mental as it goes on and reverts to more standard industrial rock, which isn't a bad thing but I would kind of liked an album as crazy as the first few tracks the whole way through. Ah! Les Enfants! We are back in crazytown, good times. This is fabulous.

After the lure of the band name and album title the disappointment of the actual music. Raucous, a mis-melding of styles and lacking grace.

You know, I listen to a lot of music, but this was something else. Young Gods aren't particularly extreme compared to some of their peers but geez, do they even have peers? I can't see myself coming back to this album, but it gets strong points for creativity. This was a wild whirlwind of symphonic noise, gritty cabaret sounds, and industrial thrash. I see others have made the Tom Waits connection, so I'll refrain. From what I've seen of the lyrics they're kind of poetic in a way I can only describe as, well, French. Moody and a little twisted, but not as dark as some of the song titles led me to think they would be. Fave Songs: L'eau rouge, Charlotte, Longue route, Rue des Tempêtes

Kinda cool, weird, camp etc. If INXS are the my yardstick for the epitome of good 80s music then these guys get relatively close. Can hear some NIN and QOTSA too.

Had a bit of a similar sound to Coil, but French. Most of the first track had me not really looking forward to the rest. Happily, it improved. One of those albums that just wouldn’t be great on headphones

At first I was thinking wtf is this... but it grew on me

This was one of those albums that are too strange to ignore and, simultaneously, too much strange to enjoy fully. I like how the 1001 list helps me get out of my "comfort zone" so strongly that I end the experience with nothing to say about what I have listened to. This album does not deserve to lie on the worst albums list of the Global stats (it is still there on the day I'm listening to it). Maybe I'll change my mind before confirming my rate, but it is a 4-star album in its weird way to surprise me.

Ongulés ! Les ongulés arrivent ! This is like a French 'Swordfishtrombones' era Tom Waits, but even more demonic and genuinely terrifying. 1st song terrible， sounded like psychedelic circus music, turns out half the album sounds like this. The other half has nice heavy instruments but ruined by the vocalist sounding like a DnD goblin

HL: "La fille de la mort", "Rue des tempêtes", "Charlotte", "Longue route", A few albums I've heard this year feature some kind of unexpected genre fusion, but I was still taken aback by this metal/chanson française hybrid, L'eau rouge. It's like someone took all the more avant-garde elements (in a rock album) that appeal to me, such as theatre, tape loops, a horror movie atmosphere, and uh, weird strings (that's not a real category, but think Radiohead's "Burn the Witch" or Muse's "Unsustainable"). Not music for everyday listening, and Franz Treichler's voice isn't my favourite, but it's pretty low in the mix, & my French isn't good enough to absorb most of the lyrics anyway. And I did recognize the title from the lowest-rated albums, went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. makes me want to revisit the Killing Joke album February 22, 2023

Dear GOD was this bad. Just French guys taking rammstein and making it more primal. The assumption I’m taking with me into every one of these albums is “there has to be something here and if I don’t see it, I must not be gettting something” I’m willing to accept that but this was bad.

An interesting take on French 80s rock

started off so strong with the weird long rock/orchestral song but then the rest of the album was just metal in french and I wasn't really a fan.

I can't even lie, a lot of this sounds like circus music or something straight out of a children's movie. Not my cup of tea. Whoever is singing, his voice is way too harsh. Fave track(s): Les enfants

Oh wow, this starts very subtly and then jumps into wonderfully angsty fun. Just the kind of mood I was in today. I love the duality of La fille de la mort, and my fave track would be Crier les chiens.

This is currently number 9 lowest scoring album on the whole site. What's the matter, people, is Swiss industrial cabaret really so far out there? 😒 I dug it. Enjoyed the more straight forward industrial tracks most, but the cabaret was still entertaining. Fave tracks - "Longue Route" and "Pas Mal" could almost be Ministry tracks, so yeah, them 🤘

Yes please! Strange and interesting, creepy, varied, driving, excellent use of orchestration. Still sounds unique and modern. Another one of those vocalists whose voices I can't get enough of.

Straight up garbage. Who listens to this bullshit, and how does it get on the top 1001? Somehow the singing sounds like an even worse Tom Waits and he's a talentless hack. 1/10.

Crossover of carnival, industrial, rock and - at times - metal and a singer who himself is a wannabe crossover of a french Tom Waits and Till Lindemann, albeit trying too hard. The result is mixed. 2.5/5

Creepy, atmospheric, macabre, and definitely pretty unhinged at times. Really matched a piss-poor mental state at the very beginning of the year, on a horrible gloomy January day. I've gotta say I quite liked this. Feels like a French-language Rammstein in parts. Honestly I wish Halloween was coming up soon because this would be a perfect soundtrack for it, and I feel like this would be an experience to see live. Favourite: La fille de la mort

I didn't really have much use for this. I don't really care for this kind of singing (if that's the word for it). Maybe being able to understand the words would help, but I doubt it. Playing it near maximum volume on my headphones did nearly down out the music the weird denizen with a giant rolling suitcase on my bus ride home was blasting from what appeared to be a battery powered clock radio, so there is that.

I'm very open minded when it comes to music and can usually find something I like about it but I really struggled with this one. Massively over produced pile of shite!

There's a man, screaming at you in French. You offer him a lozenge. He accepts, then hops on his carousel and rides off, cackling with the calliope. You shrug, and decide to try a trip through the fun house you suddenly notice. The man is there. The lozenge didn't help. Shit's about to get weird. And that's just the first song.

Must admit I didn't spend much time with this album. (Hey that's life.) And I thought it was going to be easily dismissible. But no. The genre 'dark caberet" fill me with dread but it seems musically inventive. You have to get over some of the screaming French vocals but its worth a further explore.

French metal? Sign me up.

The Young Gods with their dark industrial sound symphony like arrangements and the deep guttural voice of their lead singer was like a match made in heaven. Would love to see them live! knew going into this that it was something i wasn't going to enjoy. like i actually cringed at the thought of listening to this. i'd generally regard myself as pretty patient but it was hard to sit through this record. by track 5 it finally hit me how ridiculous this record is and i started giggling at it. i would put this above "is not music" tier but it still fucking sucks lol

I'm torn about this album. Not as a whole. I found it pompous and full of itself. But... why? Was it because the singer seemed to not really be singing with the music, but OVER the music? Or was it because he was singing in French? If I read the lyrics in English, will it make the songs sound less pompous? Or will is seem more pompous because it will be one of those beat poet kind of songs? I listened to the expanded version on Spotify, which was probably a bad idea. They had three or four versions of the same song back to back, which got real tiresome. So yeah, I ultimately found this overbearing. And this from a guy who listens to prog rock on a fairly regular basis. Just wish I knew exactly why. Next.

Hmmm, in some ways like a Swiss-French/Swiss-German but weaker version of Rammstein...if Rammstein and Tom Waits had a lovechild. I did not like the real avantgarde stuff that sounded like Waits' circus music (La Fille de la Mort, Charlotte, Les Enfants) but the heavier, almost thrash Rammstein-sounding (or NIN-sounding) stuff was kind of cool (Rue des Tempetes, L'eau Rouge, Longue Route, Crier les Chiens, Ville Notre, L'amourir, Pas Mal). Yeah, the vocals are pretty brutal, but the beats really are captivating. I thought for sure I'd give it a 2 after the first song but the album really grew on me.

I don't know what to make of this album. It's interesting, but not something that really piques my interest.

The first track had me super excited, and then it went a little downhill from there. It’s definitely not awful. I think the vocals could be improved, but the overall bits of experimentation and creativeness are pretty awesome. Not really my genre, but I still got some enjoyment from it. 5/10

Well this album is completely bizarre. It mostly consists of loud clanging sounds, grungy guitar, and baritone screaming and grunting in French. That said, I hated it quite a bit less than the Pantera album I was recently subjected to. At least it was mildly entertaining. Definitely not my thing, and I will not be seeking out French industrial music again, but it was weird and interesting and not PURE torture, hence 2/5.

Heavy and dark

Kind of hard to take a French metal band seriously, but this kinda slaps.

This is not an album that I would have chosen to listen to if not for this list. I enjoy industrial music, and the symphonic aspects mixed with the growled French made for a very ominous and engaging sound. Occasionally the guitar tone came off more hair metal than anything, but I found that more humorous than anything.

Not the start I was expecting, but picked up a bit by track 2. Harder to get into the themes without speaking French, but digging the industrial sound...as the album dragged on, my attention waned. Was thinking 4 for a bit...but we're down to a 3.5.

Someone on here stated this album was like a mix between French Pink Floyd and Nine Inch Nails, then rated this album a 2, as if that was a bad thing. I thought that it was great.

I had absolutely no idea what to expect. What I got was an updated industrialised and foreign version of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. It appears that they are more interested in drama than in music itself. The vocals are generally declaimed rather than sung, and the arrangements / samples are clearly designed to produce dramatic effect. Listenable but not something I am likely to come back to.
