Reviews (page 9 of 13)
Det var bra, men ikke mitt favorittalbum. Sangene var veldig enten eller.
A few classics but a bit bloated for my taste
Honestly, I didn't expect to like this too much but I genuinely enjoyed a handful of songs. Black Hole Sun is a certified classic but The Day I Tried To live took me by surprise by how melodic it was. Overall, this album I heavy but it is tinged with sound and the lyrics range with interesting themes about one's relationship to others, oneself, and loved ones.
A few songs had cool riffs, effects, or time signatures. I wish I liked it more. I'd seek them out before Foo Fighters, but I don't think I'll make this album a regular listen.
I'd never have thought of putting on a whole album of Soundgarden (less attractive than Nirvana or RATM). Unappealing opening (first 2 tracks too slow and repetitive for my taste) but it got better. Tracks 7-9 (Black Hole Sun, Spoonman, Limo Wreck) make an exciting three-in-a-row. By the end of the album, I was impressed with strength/range of lead vocals (carried the words well) and variety of playing styles, as well as sheer grunge and grunt. But still very same-y. It's on the high side of 'Okay': 6/10. Favourite track: Limo Wreck.
Classic grunge all the way through. It's hard to deny the sheer power of the sound, from the vocals, to the screaming guitars to the drums. Not my favorite album from that era, but definitely solid. Doesn't have enough songs that really stand out from one another, but nonetheless a great album. 3/5 from me.
Seems like a thick solid grunge record. Cornels vocals are awesome. I know them best from audioslave personally, but here they sound more natural and raw and integrated with the band. Some of the guitar sounds great - I think I like the guy's playing, but some places it suffers from that generic grunge tone in a way that makes it sound kind of grating for me.
I had pretty high hopes for this album. I already knew Black Hole Sun and Spoonman. I like both of those, but really the rest of the songs were just ok. Mailman might have become one of my least favorite songs on the generator so far. Still a fine album, but I wasn't impressed.
Run of the mill, slightly dirgey rock. It fluctuates between decent and a bit under that. I’ve liked Black Hole Sun as a song for some time and I’ve heard a few others on the album but clearly I’ve been listening to the high water marks. I don’t think the more whimsical songs really work (Spoonman), they just sound a bit off. But the instrumental stuff is well put together.
I quite like this but not sure what its USP is. Its not particularly special in any regard. Some of the songs historically get served up to me as part of my streaming algorithm so not unfamilar with them. When I was younger I enjoyed Rage against the machine and when audioslaves first album came out got that so you could say I am some way in "this" club. This is where it gets subjective I guess. I love Rage and enjoyed Audioslave (probably marginally better than Soundgarden). OK its not as pop rock as say Nickleback or extremely mainstream examples but its not got the raw edge of Rage either. I will happily listen to some of their songs and enjoy the sound but doubt I will want to listen to the whole album.
On the face of it this is a good album. It has a lot of the basic elements that I enjoy, but somehow it never quite elevates beyond "quite good". The music is all structurally fine but it seems to lack a spark. There is a particular type of Americanised operatic rock singing that I find really grating and this album has it all the way through. Also, this album is too long considering it's lack of artistic depth. A totally acceptable, but instantly forgettable rock album.
Again, this is super embarrassing to admit as a ten-year resident of Washington (four years in the Seattle area), but I wasn’t really familiar with Soundgarden until super recently. I definitely thought “Black Hole Sun” was a Nirvana song prior to this year – WA state police probably ought to revoke my license for that mix-up. However, my wife and I did watch the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony just a couple of weekends ago and Soundgarden was one of the artists that were honored. Their induction included a performance from the band (featuring Taylor Momsen on “Rusty Cage” and Brandi Carlile on “Black Hole Sun”), a tribute from Toni Cornell and an oddly heartfelt speech from Jim Carrey. Founding bassist Hiro Yamamoto also spoke out about the mistreatment of immigrants in the United States (something that has been weighing on my heart heavily these past few months). It was all very touching and came together as probably my favorite part of the entire ceremony, in spite of my unfamiliarity with the band. All that said, I was quite excited to finally give Superunknown a listen – I really hoped it would be a favorite among favorites, especially since this challenge has exposed me to so much great grunge already! While I did come away from the album with a greater appreciation of Chris Cornell’s voice and the abilities of the band as a whole, I can’t say in good faith that Superunknown is going into regular rotation for me. The main thing holding this one back for me is that it’s just too long – they could have chopped out at least 20 minutes of material (basically everything between “Spoonman” and “Like Suicide”) and the album wouldn’t have really lost anything. There are some amazing cuts in the front half, but that doesn’t save the back half from being so utterly boring. If you’re not looking to spend 70 minutes of your life running through the full album, just check out all the tracks that have music videos – they’re easily the biggest standouts from Superunknown (I reckon “My Wave” was my overall favorite)! “Like Suicide” is a great ending to the album as well, but probably not a must-listen if you’re just looking for a sampler. I might have to check out Badmotorfinger just for kicks (seeing as it’s not on the 1001 Albums list). If that ends up being a banger album, I’ll report back here in a future edit! Highlights: My Wave, Fell on Black Days, Superunknown, Black Hole Sun, Spoonman, Like Suicide
It's good. Somewhat average. Though Black Hole Sun is gonna be stuck in my head for days. 3/5
Did not expect to struggle through this one but I did
Opening track had me interested from the get go, however became quite bored of it after about 3 tracks. Not bad but not that exciting.
Its not my thing, but it seems fairly high level of what it is. Good. But I definitely think if it didnt exist, we wouldn't have nickelback, and im sure that weighed on the every single day. Because of this i had to hear Rockstar
Love 90s alternative rock/grunge, love the doom metal energy, love Chris Cornell and the slick time signatures on this. But… that’s all I’ve got. I expected to love this instead I can just barely differentiate it, a shame. The length is diabolical too.
This will be the first highly ranked album that I didn’t like. It’s good and the band is talented it’s just not my style. I do however understand the appeal and could see how someone would rank it 4 or even 5 stars if this sound was their thing.
For being on the harder side I actually found this a charming album. Faves are Black Hole Sun, The Day I Tried To Live.
I did think at first it would sound "ominous/dark" because of the album cover. But compared to Nirvana, this is more Led Zeppelin-hard rock. The album doesn't really stray from the heavy guitar-drum sound, so for me it gets repetitive after Black Hole Sun.
It's good I guess. I don't think I have the capacity to enjoy more grunge. His voice sounds trained so it's not really grass roots more manufactured
Little too angsty and a little too long for me. I really enjoy his vocals. Not really a grunge girl but there were quite a few songs on this album that I really enjoyed (although possibly they were the less grungey of the songs). Is definitely the kind of music I could imagine I would have really loved at my angstiest, but I'm probably ten years too late now. Favourite song: Black Hole Sun (or The Day I Tried to Live) Least: Half
Fire. Has Black Hole Sun on it.
1/15 bekannt 6/10 Beste Songs: black hole sun, my wave, 4th of july
Normal.
I liked this overall, a few standout tracks for me but probably not an album I would listen to again in full
This was quite enjoyable. I already knew that I liked “Fell On Black Days” and “Black Hole Sun”, but also particularly enjoyed “Mailman” and “4th of July”. The other tracks were also completely fine to listen to, albeit a bit more forgettable. If I could go 3.5*, I would - but I didn’t enjoy it as much as a 4* album.
Not my thing but couple of song were great. 3.3
I can't see the cover of this album and not hear Blackhole Sun. Such an iconic music video. His singing style is a bit whiny. I am saddened to find out he succumbed to his battle with depression. I didn't realize Spoonman was by Soundgarden.
really fun heavy album
Christmas
I liked it buuuut I didn't feel it you know? I mean the songs were good but I didn't connect to them. Overall I liked the album, Chris Cornell's voice is sooo good
7/15 songs added Obviously we have the classic in there (black hole sun)which is just fire fire fire but I feel like I've heard it so much that it just doesn't hit the same as it used to,so i added it to the playlist but it might not have a guaranteed place to stay.(I didn't have it on the playlist so it probably got deleted before) A song that I really enjoyed was fell on black days, chill start, cool beat just amazing and i also think Its a little bit different from the rest of the album. gonna rate it 3/5 stars as I wouldn't listen to the whole album and the grunge type of music is also not always my vibe.
my opinion is in the middle some of the songs are too much for me and sound abit the same i like the ones that are abit different 5/16 ( black hole sun, fell on black days , head down, the day i tired to live , 4th of july)
Bassen sier brom, Cornell sier YEEEeeeaaaaAAHhhh.
Solid album, not exactly my choice but I would listen to this if I was an angsty white boy. Black hole sun kinda iconic though and I gotta give credit where credit is due.
A grunge classic. A little over-long though
Rocking listen. I did not recognize or remember any songs other than Black Hole Sun. Nice, crisp, big rock production
3.5 leaning toward 4 At first I didn't think I would know any of their songs, but Black Hole Sun is a serious banger. There were also a couple other songs I listened to more than once! Overall, nice grungy vibes 🖤
Not really my style and would need to be in the mood but still great album!
I was hoping to like this more than I thought I would but unfortunately not
Dad rock, thought Black Hole Sun and Supermassive Black Hole were siblings, but they’re more like cousins.
This album is better than " A Northern Soul", yesterday's album. It reminds me of early Pearl Jam, especially their album "Ten". There are quite a few good songs on "Superunknown". "4th of July" is on the same level as "Black Hole Sun", Soundgarden's most popular song. One day, I might come to adore this album. 3 stars for "Superunknown".
Solid, riff heavy rock and roll. Probably more like a 3.5 but not really my thing. I appreciate it though. I don’t think I’ve ever actually listened to it all the way through although certainly familiar with it from being adjacent to some of the music I loved in 1995 or whatever. The coda to super unknown is fun and the little marching band into Beatles melody of head down. Black hole sun is a winner thirty years later. It is just its own distinctive vibe (file under: Chris Isaak wicked game).
It's okay I guess. Good rocking but it starts sounding samey to me after a handful of songs. I know the hits from this one and they're good tunes. I just don't see myself coming back to this one.
This had a lot more music/acoustics than I expected!!
The album was alright, the first half of songs all sounded the same, black hole sun was the tipping point, then the second half all sounded the same as well
I thought it was full of talented musicians. Tempo was changed and lots of timing which was impressive. Very metallic and grunge. Black hole suns a banger.
Classic Soundgarden...
Album idealny do filmów/książek akcji.
Kinda boring Some songs are good but overall overrated 6/10 2025/12/26
Has all the 90s grunge cliches with Metal cliches thrown in. Huge if you like that sort of thing and seemingly designed for disaffected young men.
Soundgarden was always kind of the odd man out from the "Big 4" of Grunge, drawing inspiration from the other three into an amalgamation of what's supposed to be the "best parts" of Grunge. I'll be honest, I'm not sure if I buy it. Sure, I can listen to Black Hole Sun and think "wow, Grunge really DID peak here", but the rest of the album is far less convincing for me. I could never really get into Superunknown, at least not nearly as much as the other three's albums. Dirt feels so much more destructive, Ten is accessible and has killer singles, and Nevermind needs no explanation. So what role does Superunknown play? It's certainly experimental in its presentation, with many tracks that stretch the definition of the genre. That combined with a few great singles should be enough to make this a classic, right? I'm not going to pretend like this isn't a classic and that everyone who thinks so is wrong, as I don't love Grunge as a whole nearly as much as I like its main bands. I will say though that apart from Black Hole Sun there is almost nothing that attaches me to this album. It feels flat, most Grunge does, but some bands know how to make that flatness work. I think Soundgarden is trying too hard to make the genre sound "not flat", and in doing so sacrifices the simplicity that defined the era. I don't think it's a coincidence that the songs most people praise from this record are arguably the least complex. I'm rambling. I have a lot of respect for Chris Cornell as a vocalist, and I'm by no means saying this album is bad. Superunknown has just unfortunately been the least enjoyable member of the Grunge club for me (at least until Stone Temple Pilots came along).
song one: enjoying the verses, chorus not so much
I’m sure this album was a huge hit for grunge rock dads. Album has some decent songs but I’d probably never listen to the whole album again. 3/5
Prog Grunge. Meandering and loud, but not powerful. They are super talented in technique, no critique of the compositions, Chris Cornell kills it in the high registers, guitars slay the amps, drums deal out destruction, yet it just seemed like undynamic loudness instead of intensity. Anyway, back to my hair metal playlist.
Not something I would put on myself. Pretty rock. Very raw vocals, although almost distracting at times? All in all, it was alright.
Really grungey. Chris Cornell’s voice is great, and it really soars in some of the earlier tracks here. The huge guitars and drums are at their best when they’re more upbeat and full of life, rather than the dreary mid-tempo songs. The album is bit much to listen to in one go, but there’s some great stuff in there, and if you’re into your grunge, you’d love it.
Abren a todo ritmo con Let Me Drown, dura como The Day I Tried to Live o la propia Spoonman. The Day I Tried To Live.
I bypassed Soundgarden when they were around. I didn’t think they brought anything particularly remarkable to the table. I still don’t. Hearing this thirty years later it’s good for what it is. Some good songs, brilliantly produced. Black Hole Sun alone makes it a five, but as an entity it’s a three for me.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great album! I do want to revisit bc I feel like I would appreciate it more on a second listen
One full listen through of the album later and it's wildly different from anything I've ever listened to in the past. My favorite song so far is Black Hole Sun and Let me Down, and the most of the rest of it sounded like really heavy metal. I also liked Superunknown, but I will be doing another listen through of the album, maybe where I can actually listen to the lyrics.
i haven’t heard this album in years! it’s very tight and has some really good songs on it, i just feel like i’ve heard it too much though 3.5
I think it's a good album but it's not my cup of tea or the style I usually like

Pretty cool
I really want to like this. Chris Cornell was a genius, black hole sun is just beautiful... But 70 mins is long and there is not enough variation on songwriting or production for me. It feels like a 90s American rock album where there isn't a lot of subtlety (beyond the elegance of his singing) and I find it draining to listen to. I don't know at what point I started zoning out from it. But I did Alas.
Soundgarden was never on the same level for me as Pearl Jam or Nirvana. Returning to this album thirty years later didn't changey mind
3 for spoonman.
Wasn't super in the mood for Soundgarden today, but Black Hole Sun and Spoonman are bangers any day of the week
6.0/10
It was ok, but not my type. I like Black Hole Sun the best.
I really like Black Hole Sun and didn't get any new favourites after listening to the whole album for the first time. Still a gem of its time though
waaaay too long dude. like come on. im not sure about the music either. good singing obviously but otherwise dont really know man,
The origins of butt rock
Solid album, great writing, but probably wont go back with any consistency
Was listening to this when Joel Asher inadvertently egged the inside of his dad's T-Bird. (He thought the window was rolled down; it wasn't.) I would like to think "Fell on Black Days" was playing, if only to imagine Chris Cornell wailing, "How would I know / That this could be my fate?" as yolk and shell dribbled down the glass.
Very good. Vocals, riffs deep dark sound, really enjoyed.
Guys... I don't think grunge is my thing... or at least this style of grunge in which bands like Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden fall. I think is quite different from what Nirvana were doing, as the sound of this band is very raw and energetic with the fast pace and chaotic performances; while bands like Soundgarden focus way more on creating slow and moody atmospheres. In theory sounds good, but in practice, I don't think it works that well. I believe some Sludge and Doom Metal acts do very similar things but way more effective. This album has that same atmosphere that I talked about, but the riffs didn't appealed me nor the vocals, and I know that might be blasphemy to some people. I'll give credit where credit is due, Chris Cornell was a very talented singer with an incredible range. However, I never liked this style of singing, which is very used in grunge, so not even Chris Cornell's technicality can change my opinion on it. At least I don't think it is a bad album, but I'll dare to say it is quite mediocre. There are even some moments I liked, like the riff in the chorus of 'Superunkown', 'Black Hole Sun', the haunting tone of 'Limo Wrech' and the punk inspired 'Kickstand'. I also believe I would like way more this album if it wasn't that long (one hour and ten minutes is way too much).
Not a huge fan of grunge so wasn't expecting much but liked it more than I thought I would. Favorites: My Wave, Fell on Black Days, Black Hole Sun Would I listen to it again: Probably
Kinda slaps
I really want to like this album. The band has such a cool gritty tone, and I really like Chris Cornell. And I love Audioslave, so this should not be too far away, right? But after sitting through it two times, I'm still not convinced. There are some decent songs here and there, but overall its just not good enough for me. Every half decent song is followed up by a not-so-good one. Even 'Black Hole Sun', which probably is Soundgarden's most famous song, is way too long - just like the album. The best parts are basically when Chris Cornell can just do his thing and let his singing shine. Overall I was disappointed by this. Feels wrong to give it a 3, but that's where it ends up for me. Albeit a strong one.
I know loads of people like this, and I know some of my favourite albums sit adjacent to this - but I just can't get fully on-board. I like a bunch of tracks. I like some of the guitar work, especially when it's really big and bold sounding. But there's also plenty here that just sounds a bit generic rock to me. I want way more melodies and identifiable riffs in my rock. They are in there in places, they're just not popping for me. Also, I'm not as won over by his voice, or this style of singing as a lot of others are, so I'm not giving plus points there. I can still appreciate it when he's wailing away at times, but I'd much rather some strange but interesting vocals personally. I know I'm in the minority there. It's pretty good, but I'm not going to revisit.
Good sound(garden). Recognise a few from back in the day, enjoyed them more than the 'new' to me tunes
OK in places
Feels a bit like a compilation rather than an album, and reading about how it was put together that makes sense. Black hole sun so good that it rescues the album on its own.
Heavy grunge good gym album
Mid 1990s American alternative rock/grunge album, it's good, nothing too remarkable, and not bad either. I've listened to it as a background music and it was perfect for it. It goes a bit too long, though.
Pleasant and good background music
en kuunnellu kokonaa mut kunnon tämmöst faijarockkii, iha ok taas ja nyt jopa ties pari kipaletta ku oli rockkijärkäle kuten black hole sun mukana
not bad, love black hole sun
I always thought Audioslave where a bad Rage Against the Machine but it turns out they were a good Soundgarden
Why is the cover Mr. Tumnus screaming?
I really was expecting the whole album to sound more like "Black Hole Sun"
Surprisingly enjoyable classic hard rock album. Kinda basic and didn’t need to hear before I died at all but that’s ok ig, I already know this list sucks anyway.
This stands up as a solid grunge album. Consistent sound from the very beginning - however the only memorable sounds are Black Days, Black Hole Sun and Spoon Man.
This album is not bad, but not much of my taste. I don't like grunge music that much, and this album in some way portrays those things I don't like of this genre, even though some songs are pretty interesting, and I have to admit I liked them. So it is nice, but not my cup of tea.
I love Chris Cornell and Soundgarden in general, but this was a little too much of the same for me.
6 I think this list is making me realise I don’t love grunge
Usually not a fan of grunge and its effects on rock, but there are some banger songs on this album like 4th of July. Love how much they go outside of the standard 4/4 too, they don’t overdo it to a proggy degree but they have fun with it.
I love Chris Cornell's voice and some of the tracks, but overall the record should have been edited.
Impossible to not love Chris Cornell’s voice, but most the songs are pretty boring tbf. It’s sounds very of its time, like a lot of grunge albums, but unlike the great grunge albums it not in a good way. Fell on black days and black hole sun do an incredible amount of the heavy lifting on this album, but they are so good. X
I can do without Kickstand, Fresh Tendrils and Half, but otherwise this is a solid grudge record. I don't Badmotorfinger edges it out from the band's catalog.
not my fave .
6/10 i lowkey do not like soundgarden
meh, couple of good tracks, but a muddy listen
some good ones but mostly too noisy
I do enjoy grunge at any and all times
Not sure about this album although I listened to it 3 times. Good songs are good but feel like they could easily have cut 4-5 songs off it and make it a 45 minute album instead of 70 mins.
Mixed feelings about this one. Chris Cornell is one of the greatest vocalists of our generation and this album is full of radio hits - Spoonman? C’mon it's in my top 50 songs of all time. But this album comes off disorganized and should have shed 2-3 songs. My ears and musical tastes have changed since 1995. The hard driving wall of sound (similar to Bush and Smashing Pumpkins) belong to that era. I crave greater variety, shifting tempos, and complex time signatures now. I want to rate 4 for nostalgia's sake but honestly it's a 3. 3/5
I liked that there was a mix of metal and softer melodies. Not offensive to listen to, but not my type of music either. 3.1
My heart says 4 but my ears say 2. I think I'll split the difference, give it a 3 and move on as easily as I apparently did from my obsession with playing Spoonman on guitar in high school. Nostalgia is a powerful drug but even in my inebriated state I couldn't help but notice that Chris Cornell spends a good part of this album wailing in a fairly unappealing way.
Ok, so black hole sun is a great song. Beyond that, and the track towards the end that sounds like it’s from a modern Bollywood cop movie where the protagonist is about to break out into a choreographed dance move with a bunch of honeys, this could be a dozen other grunge albums of the era. Yes this list has too many Britpop inclusions, but I’ve also discovered that I also really don’t have to listen to many Seattle influenced albums before I die. The best of the rest? Possibly. Mediocre all the same.
Not as good as their previous
interestingly I don't particularly enjoy this type of music, I thought I did but i guess not that much.
Good album. Didn’t listen enough when released but had some great tunes on it. They were not a band I loved at the time but Chris voice is phenomenal.
maybe just a bit too long ?
3,5
On paper this should be right up my street. But it just didn't grab me at all. Just ok
Chris Cornell has a great voice but once Black Hole Sun and Spoonman have come and gone there isn’t much more to get that excited about. Dare I say, a little boring?
3/5
Meh...
A really solid rock record. It's on the slightly-too-heavy side for my liking, though. I can absolutely agree this is a classic for its genre, and it's deserving of a 4 for that reason, but unfortunately it just doesn't emotionally move me, so I'll have to downgrade it to a 3 based on my feelings.
This is one of those that I felt like I was supposed to like more than I did. It’s good, but largely forgettable. The big surprise is that “Black Hole Sun”, a great track, was not my favorite. I loved “Head Down”, maybe because it didn’t sound like most of the rest. 3/5
Okay dad rock
Never a fan of grunge and this type of rock. I never really listened to this album when it came out, but I had heard enough to know I would not like it. I listened to this very objectively, but confirmed that I do not like this. It is not terrible, but I groaned a bit to see how far I was while listening to the album and I was only on track 4. The best song by a far is Black hole Sun, but that is it, the rest just sounds the same. a 3 Stars (barely)
Soundgarden’s Superunknown finds the Seattle titans trading in some of the blunt-force heaviness of Badmotorfinger for a swirlier, more expansive sound that weaves in psychedelia and even some shiny pop instincts. The result is an ambitious sprawl of 15 tracks that occasionally buckle under their own weight—too many cuts linger thirty or sixty seconds longer than they should, a byproduct of the CD-era indulgence. Still, when the band hits, they hit hard: “Fell on Black Days” showcases Chris Cornell’s dynamic voice as he shifts from croon to wail, the title track rides a muscular riff and hooky chorus, “Spoonman” wrings intrigue out of its oddball inspiration, and “Like Suicide” fuses inventive percussion with a vaguely Eastern vibe. Elsewhere, “Head Down” pushes Cornell into unrecognizable upper registers while chasing Indian textures, and “Half” hands the mic to bassist Ben Shepherd—a bold choice, but one that reminds you how singular Cornell’s presence really is. It’s a big, messy, fascinating record that captures Soundgarden trying to stretch beyond grunge without quite trimming the fat.
Has some good songs, but Louder than Love and Badmotorfinger absolutely blow it out of the water. Yes I know I'm an insufferable "I actually prefer their earlier stuff from before you plebes had even heard of them" guy but in this case I'm entirely right.
Chris Cornell had such an amazing voice! Not my favourite grunge album, songs do bleed into one another after a while.
Not sure why I never got this band. Everyone seems to like them, including folks who's music opinions I really value, but they just don't seem to be for me. I never noticed how he looks like Bat Boy on the cover. I'm finding a bit of a slog to get through but it's a solid "okay". If I could give it 2 1/2 stars I would, I just find it really boring.
3 or 4 really good tracks, but the rest is fairly nondescript. I say that as someone who really likes Chris Cornell's voice.
Dad rock haha. Classic but a little monotone.
A straight man taking off his at a rave
How to describe the sound? Like blues rock melded with grunge. Overall result sounds kinda generic. Spoonman is like QOTSA meets Pearl Jam. Best track - Superunknown, Spoonman, Half 3 stars
Genuinely liked this. Relatively heavy rock with good bass lines and vocals. Nirvana-esque at times. Black Hole Sun and The Day I tried to Live the highlights. Voted 3* but it's a 7/10.
7/10 I should like this, but too many songs didn't really connect. Also it's too long. Highlights: Black Hole Sun Fell On Black Days Head Down
I always knew the name of this band, but never heard any of their songs. So I was surprised to find out they make ACDC style dad rock? Kind of unexpected tbh, thought they'd make electronic music or something. Well the album itself was pretty alright.
raw!!!
Its ok
heavier than i thought
Heavy guitar and dark lyrics so have to be in the mood.Really liked his voice
This is great. Reminds me of riding around in my friends car in high school and college. Black hole sun sounds like it’s from a totally different album.
yeah not bad. hit and miss A high 3
that’s enough of that.
Felt like a semi-toxic blue collar guy who drinks a lot of monsters
It feels like I should really like Soundgarden, but it just doesn’t hit right. However Black Hole Sun is amazing. Maybe a 4 on a better day
I love Chris Cornell's vocal's because they are really easy and fun to sing along with. I think I would have loved this album in high school. It is the encapsulation of 90s grunge metal. Black Hole Sun is the crown jewel of the album, stunning. Only giving a lower rating because of the lack a variety.
Harder rock than I'd expected having only been familiar with the single Black Hole Sun.
Listened in the truck via YouTube music. Soundgarden was great, but I’m more of an Audioslave guy. This album has a lot of great tracks though.
I bet this was the bomb.com in the 90s, but today it sounds so generic. I'm guessing a bunch of groups have aped this band or something
My review is totaly biased because when I was a teenager I was afraid of Black Hole Sun (song and video clip). Nevertheless it is a relevant album and there is good rock and roll in it.
Good, with some solid tunes, but lacking some of the juice.
This is too similar to Nirvana while being less good so it comes off unfavourably even though it's decent. I'm sorry 😭
it just felt like a rock album
Conec black hole sun, musica emo?
3.5★
A bit too loud for my taste, so three stars.
Chris Cornell has a powerful vocal presence, and the guitars go pretty hard. I can kind of see that if I sat in a darkened room long enough, maybe with some oxy and headphones and an unwashed band tee, I could really get into this. But there's a lot to overcome. There's a tendency to ruin otherwise listenable songs with a ill-concieved decision - a guitar that's a bit too high pitched or an agonizingly elongated vocalization. Vapid writing isn't saved by using bigger words. Soundgarden fans still look like they smell of stale beer. I wouldn't go back to it but I can no longer say I hate this kind of music.
Some great songs towards the end but too long and too many forgettable tracks.
Some good songs in there. Still love the 7/4 time of Spoonman. No real bops though.
I feel as though I’m basking in a garden of sound listening to this album…. I prefer Audioslave though. Kinda funny how he pulls out the hair metal vox in this sometimes
oh jeez i just dont know... it wasn't bad but i think not for me!
It’s good. It’s classic (rock). It’s not what grabbed me from that era as a youngster and listening now, the record all kinda globs together for me.
I think I like Chris Cornell’s voice more than I actually enjoy soundgarden but this was decent
Depressing and not as good as it was when I was 17
Starts strong, couldn’t finish
un bell'album ruoock
In 2017, I looked out the window of my car and saw a billboard mourning the loss of Chris Cornell. I was 10 at the time and I had no clue who this person was. But that sudden discovery only fueled a sense of curiosity within me. I can't say that I immediately googled him, but eventually I found out who he was and what band he was in. Years later, here I am being given this record knowing a bit more about "grunge". I turn on the first song and I hear what I would expect: brutal and cut-throat guitar riffs and a beat to match. Then here comes Chris Cornell with something different: a voice built for what you would expect out of '80s hair metal bands. More a soaring Axl Rose than a quiet Cobain-esque voice. That flavor added to top-tier grunge tracks is a wonder to hear. There's a sweet run of tracks that goes from the title track, Head Down, Black Hole Sun and Spoonman. Those 4 songs are all great (props to My Wave and Black Days too). All the songs I've mentioned so far are all enjoyable, but after Spoonman, the album's length starts to run slow. The songs sound less surprising and intriguing albeit for maybe The Day I Tried To Live and 4th Of July but those also got stale. There's a thing about some bands in the 90s offering really long albums bordering on 65-70 minutes. Especially with a band like Soundgarden that is obviously loud, that's going to make my ears tired. Bottomline: the album is too long for me to fully enjoy it, but it has Black Hole Sun which is one of the best songs ever written. I say that's a major win. RIP Chris Cornell (7/10, 3/5 on this scale)
Couple of low points in the middle and at the end - Superunknown and Head Down, Half - that drag down the album as a whole. However, My Wave, Spoonman, and BHS are such classics, a true picture of early grunge. Album is a bit too long - so docking it one star.
Chris Cornell is an amazing rock singer, absolutely one of the best! And while I like most grunge era bands, Soundgarden wasn't always on my playlists. I like the singles and they were probably singles because they had the best production. Even as they progressed, some of this stuff sounds muddy. This is a good album with some great songs, but as many have said, it's a few songs too long. "Half" would be the first to go. I'll listen when some of these pop up in a retro or grunge playlist, but I won't be seeking it out.
Sludgy with some unexpected doom metal vibes. It's a good album with some classic songs but I feel like there's not enough going on to justify such a long run time.
It starts heavy and then continues heavy with no little to no break in pace or tone. It's not that it's bad, it's that it's all the same. I feel like you could listen to a few songs and get the same feeling as if you listened to the whole album.
Black hole Sun carries it
Decent hard rock, some cool stuff, generally didn’t excite me too much. 3 stars
Super overrated but still good, black hole sun good
A solid entry, but not my favorite grunge album from Soundgarden. I preferred BADMOTORFINGER. Not one of my favorite 90s albums in general. The album is way too long. There is a a fair bit of filler on here. I agree with others that 30 minutes could easily be cut and really make this a tight album. There is no concept album story to tell, so there was really no excuse not to cut some. Favorites: "Fell On Black Days", "Spoonman", and "The Day I Tried to Live".
A few bangers, but the cons outweigh the positives for me :0
I’m not going to say this was bad, just that I would absolutely never seek any of this out on my ow
Black hole sun is one of the best songs of all time
Glad to see some Soundgarden pop up. First full album of there’s I have listened too and 70 minutes. Okay, let’s go.. Fierce and hard hitting. This is Soundgarden and the unmistakeable lyrics of CC. Despite popularity of ‘Fell in Black Days’ felt a drop off to me and continued a bit into ‘Mailman’ but good to have variety. Back to the norm with ‘Superunknown’ before the big hitters of ‘Black Hole Sun” and ‘Spoonman’ (which weren’t as impacting as I’d hoped and more taken by the fierce, fast paced songs at the start of the album). Enjoyable album, but could maybe be half the length and more consistent. But still a solid release (3.5)
I think the grunge world may have passed me by a bit, but I'm gonna give it a solid 3. Maybe this is sounded a bit dated - who knows. I wish I'd heard this back in 1996 - I'd have loved it!
Too grunge for my taste. A bit dark and gloomy (not in the mood today).
I always feel like Soundgarden is a slightly improved version of Nirvana. I'm not a huge Nirvana fan, so to be honest it's hardly a compliment.
rym 3.0
Clearly deserves to be on this list due to historical and cultural impact, but a quote from the Wikipedia article really stuck with me and summarizes my criticism "we didn't really want to argue over what should be cut" - it really shows. Too much of the album sounds the same, and paring it down would have helped. By song 12 I thought I was almost done, but the last 3 songs drag on for another 15 minutes. And its a shame, because "Half" is actually an interesting detour, bringing to mind some of Zeppelin's more adventurous explorations.
*I love 90s alt/grunge, but I just find Soundgarden meh. *This was fine. RATING - 6.5/10
It had black hole sun
This was an album I listened to religiously in the 90's. In 1995 this would have been a 5 star album for me. I also would have rated it higher than Dirt by Alice In Chains at the time. I guess time changes things as listening to AIC's album really impressed me and I gave it 5 stars and listening to this I could remember really enjoying it as a teenager but found myself wanting to skip a lot of the tracks.
I don’t know man, am I off base to say that Cornell has a great voice but musically Soundgarden is sluggish and kinda boring? Maybe if this was tightened up and it was 40 mins, it would have been better, maybe if the production of it was better (it sounds shallow) This album lacks the punch it should have and I’m not even joking when I say that if this and Silverchair’s Frogstomp were to be pitted head to head, Frogstomp would get my vote for better 90’s grunge album. Fuck, this is so overrated that I want a I give it a 2 but it’s better than that but it’s still pretty fucking dry. Ah fuck, I’m gonna list to Israel’s Son as a pallet cleanser… 3 stars
A great grunge album, a really enjoying listening 3/5
Not bad, it’s rock. It’s got Black Hole Sun, so that’s fun.
Good but not great. Sounds plastic to me. Not a fan, and most of my friends (with similar music taste) are, so I guess something's wrong with me. I don't care anyway.
Some great highs, albeit a bit stuck in the 90's.
I thought this was pretty good but nothing great. A few hits on here, it's somewhere between a 3 and 4 for me.
Listening to this a couple of times, I found it a mediocre experience. This is asidefrom Black Hole Sun, a song that is leagues above the rest of the album. I do not exaggerate when I say this is one of the best rock songs of the 90s, and perhaps even ever. But alas, I judge based on albums not individual songs. Many of the songs sort of blend into one for me. I find it difficult to 'get into' them. But even during my listening, particularly the second listening, I could detect the subtle guitar touches. Small pieces of eloquence dotted around the album. What I am trying to say is that this is a detailed bit of guitar work. Having read a little about the album on wiki, I can respect and appreciate it. Definitely can hear the metal (iron maiden perhaps?) inspiration from this. I also discovered the song "The Day I tried to live", easily my favourite discovery from the album and made it worth listening to. Ultimately though, this type of music (as an album whole) isn't for me. Still glad I listened though.
The kind of music you'd use for a Jeep Wrangler commercial. Not totally terrible. The singing and musicianship is pretty good. But to me it's just standard rock.
Nice old school rock album. 7/10
Pretty generic rock music
Riffs in some of the songs I liked (My wave, head down and fresh tendrils) but overall was alright
Some bangers but not a huge pop rock fan
I knew a few songs off of this one. Always love Chris Cornell's singing. I enjoyed this album but not sure I'll listen to it again.
Very samey aside from Black Hole Sun. Black Hole Sun is still a banger but compared to the rest of the album is an opus. Crazyyyy
Fav nummer: fell on black days
I skipped forward on several tracks, but others were fine in the background.
I had never listened to the album all the way through. It's alright but a bit repetitive.
BLACK HOLE SUN, WON'T YOU COME
Nice example of grunge but nothing special. Black Hole Sun is pretty self indulgent which makes it a stand out track.
Helt kurant. Blir litt same same gjennom alle låtene. Et par bangers da.
Not my style, but a good album.
Pretty good but it is a very long album and I got a bit fatigued toward the end
3.5
Haha, I forgot how silly this album is.
3 stars
Jälleen kerran ne tunnetuimmat kappaleet loistaa ja muut tuntuu vaan täyte kappaleilta, ainakin omaan korvaan. Muissa kappaleissa ei oo mitään kunnollista hookkia. Parhaat: Black Hole Sun, Spoonman, Fresh Tendrils
How the hell do you "wash away the rain"? Isn't it the rain that washes away things? Why does a black hole sun wash the rain away? I bet this song Neil Degrasse Tyson crazy.
I think a 70 minute album is absolutely fucking egregious
Very dad rocky, and nothing a good way
Chris Cornell was a god-level vocalist, but if I never hear "Black Hole Sun" or "Spoonman" again, it'll be too soon. This album is okay, but Badmotorfinger is better. 3 stars.
3/5; Couldn't get super into it. Liked black hole sun, mailman, fell on black days, my wave.
It has a sound and a feel, I don't hate it at all. Not one I'd return too.
I like Chris Cornell but soundgarden is probably my least favorite of his bands, but I do like soundgarden. This album was better than I expected, I’m not a grunge person so I’m kinda picky about the grunge I do like and this was one of them. I like Black Hole Sun but find it a little overrated and my favorite was “My Wave”. I think though that it goes on a little longer than it should have but this is good.
Accessible grunge. Spoonman great. High 3.
liked mostly the middle third of this album, rest was too much distortion for me
A nice sound but I wasn’t interested until Black Hole Sun, which sort of embarrasses the rest of the album with how standout it is. I’ve got time for Chris Cornell though so might give it another go.
Mid rock. 3/5
Some solid stuff, overly long and not so consistent for me
“The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.” ~ Hunter S. Thompson For my money Soundgarden had recorded all of their best work by the fall of 1991 that said they never released a bad album(even their tepid reunion album from 2012 had its moments) & Superunknown (1994) is a good album even a very good one but it's not a great one like the first two albums are and it could have been better, it should have been better. What happened? I think most everything from 1992 on was too polished, sometimes overproduced and the pressure for radio play from their label really neutered that glorious Stooges meets Led Zeppelin sound they had on the first two albums but hey they still rocked with some degree of greatness until the bitter end. It's hard to see a band that sold millions of albums as a kind of cautionary tale and I don't, but Soundgarden never lived up to the enormous promise they showed in the late 1980s until about the fall of 1991 and that sucks.
3/5 Just not my thing. I suspect I just don’t vibe with grunge- unrelentingly dark, depressing, droning- but I will listen to a few more albums before saying that for sure. I did recognize and like “Black Hole Sun”.
Is it bad that my first thought as this album went on was "it just sounds like worse Audioslave?" So anyways, I want to listen to some Audioslave. It's not that it was bad, but the three hits I've heard a zillion times, and I'm not sure there's anything else that stood out that much. Good album, good vibes, but nothing crazy. Another 3.5 probably, just can't give it a 4 even though there are at least 3 bangers, because I'd just put on Out of Exile and be happier =D
Just such a clean-sounding grunge album, so well polished. Black Hole Sun is so legendary, and I love that. High three, as the rest of it wasn't to my liking.
let me drown- 5 my wave- 5 fell on black days- 5 mailman- 6 superunknown- 5 head down- 5 black hole sun- 8. no one sings like you do anymore spoonman- 5 limo wreck- 5 the day I tried to live-6 kickstand- 5 fresh tendrils- 5 4th of july- 9 half- 6 like suicide- uh oh. 5 lowkey had higher hopes. it wasn't bad though
divorced dad music
First song that really caught me was the title track. That song was awesome and went hard. It had the high energy and crazy heavy psych guitar that I'm really into right now. I've been a fan of Black Hole Sun for a while and it's crazy to finally listen to the whole album that it's on. It's a different vibe than what I was expecting. It's a lot heavier.
This was a solid album some good to great songs. Perhaps a bit the same after a couple of listens.
I like, knew Black Hole Sun, feel like they balance the heavy sluggishness of metal with the more brighter tones of rock really well
Fantastic time capsule of 90s and early 2000s rock. Loved it
Clearly a tight, quality band. They are a more mature voice in the grunge movement, and that is a good thing. They have traded a little angst with some more focused commentary, and it works for the most part. The singles stand out as good signature tracks, but the rest lacks the punch of its peers' grumpier tracks. They seem to have it to together in life to be so angry.
Solid sound, Great singer. It just wasn't anything out of the ordinary for me.
It's okay
2.5
pretty cool stuff but not really my thing
Black hole sun is goated, ok otherwise
Was hoping I'd like it a little more, but it's got some good stuff.
The temptation to rate this one higher than I am was strong, but I recognize that a lot of my positive feelings about it are tied to either liking Black Hole Sun, or reminiscing about listening to a lot of these songs with my dad two decades ago. That being said, listening to it now, a lot of it didn't quite click with me. I would rate this a 3.5 if I could.
An overall cohesive and energetic listen, but not much stood out to me. Certainly a refreshing listen in this challenge. Standouts: The Day I Tried To Live, Kickstand
It's OK. Good but not great. 3-4.
what the hell, sure (grunge metal edition).
Grunge passed me by at the time. It came at a time when I wasn't exposed to much new music. I caught up with Nirvana later, but not Soundgarden or Pearl Jam. Listened to this with no preconceptions, though it turned out I did know 'Black Hole Sun' (no idea from when or where). The album is a bit over long, a decent listen, but it's not 'Nevermind'. I'd probably have loved it at the time, but thirty years later, it's just another album that never entered my orbit.
dissapointing because I already listened to black hole sun and it is a good track by all metrics
some real bangers but it drags a little near the end 3.5
Highs are high, lows are pretty average. Not a huge grunge fan but rock solid
Cool sounds, 90s rock just ain’t really for me
Chris Cornell sings really well but this songs are pretty depressing.
Aber au nüd grossartig uffallends was Soundgarden hät, was anderi Rock-Bands zu dere Ziit vielliecht ned händ. Tönt ih mine Ohre alles biz gliich. Trotzdem hani mi chli verwütscht mit em Chopf z nicke und schänke de Buebe darum 3 Gardenzwärge.
From previous experiences with this band I have the impression that Soundgarden can be a little boring. I know that Chris Cornell gets praised a lot for his vocal ability, so I'm at least expecting to be impressed by him. Otherwise I'm just hoping the runtime won't cause any issues, as any album that's longer than an hour really has to justify it. Let Me Down I don't care much for that guitar tone, feels a bit washed. The mixing in general is kinda weak, particularly on the quieter vocal parts. Has a decent buildup towqrds the chorus. The vocals are pretty impressive. Didn't make me feel much. Fine. 3/5 My Wave The structure of this track isn't really what I'm looking for. Feels a bit flat, lacks some energy. Has an alright switchup. Some of thr guitar parts sound really good. When the bass comes into the forefront of the mix it really breaks through, giving much needed respite from the repetitive guitars. Great ending. 3.5/5 Fell On Black Days The vocals are great, there are a few nice melodies there. His voice has a lot of range, changing seemlessly between sounds. When the instrumental lets itself pick up a bit, taking more space the track gets a sudden surge of energy. Pleasant. 3.5/5 Mailman Stoner metal adjacent guitar riff. Sounds a bit loud, overpowering the other elements of the track. Boring songwriting, extremely typical of the genre. Sluggish tempo, repetitive instrumental. Lyrically doesn't really stand out either. Average. 2.5/5 Superunknown Doesn't really inspire. Has some alright riffs, and decent energy, but I can't help but feel this is something I've heard many times before. Great vocals again. The guitar solo is a interesting, like how it builds upon the backing track to form a decent ending. Decent. 3.5/5 Head Down Feels a bit more classic rock inspired. Has some western sounding motifs in the intro. Has very different production on the vocals than previous tracks. The drums sound really muted. Doesn't really evolve or change. Ends up being really boring. Focuses too much time on a very average, low energy chorus. Average. 2.5/5 Black Hole Sun The big enduring hit off this album. Gets plenty of play on classic rock radio stations to this day. The first verse is pretty evocative and gives it a decent start, though I don't really like the chorus. I just don't find it too interesting. The delivery is deadpan and flat which doesn't really change throughout the million times it's repeated. Instrumentally it's also pretty boring, never really switching it up from the same repeated guitar riff. Overrated. 2.5/5 Spoonman Good vocal delivery. The drums are pretty fun, they build upon an interesting rhythm which keeps up throughout the track. In general every rhythmic element works pretty well, even the added pieces of percussion. The song's title is delivered in a pretty charismatic way. Good. 4/5 Limo Wreck Pretty great instrumental, has a decent level of depth to it, overall has good sound. The guitar and bass has great synergy. Great chorus, delivered spectacularly. Uninteresting verses. Really overstays its welcome after a while, does not need to be nearly 6 minutes long. The ending is really good, but comes too late, I'm already bored of the song when it arrives. Decent. 3.5/5 The Day I Tried To Live Great guitar playing to start the song off, terrific intro. The post chorus is pretty captivating, though I find the chorus itself pretty lacking. Has a similar issue as some of the previous tracks where the drums sound really hollow and muted. Decent. 3.5/5 Kickstand Decent energy. Has some stoner metal vibes to the guitar riff. Doesn't really have the runtime to be judged fairly. Fine. 3/5 Fresh Tendrils Has an okay rhythm to it, like that the bass is a little bit more pronounced here. Some of the vocal parts are pretty catchy. Great vocals in general. I like the structure of the song. Good. 4/5 4th of July Crunchy, heavy distortion. The lyrics are pretty interesting. Feels really dystopian. Fits well with the slower, sludgier production. A subtler, slower song which has a lot of atmosphere. Good. 4/5 Half A really welcome break from the sonic pallatte of the album. Feels a bit psychedelic. The distant off putting vocals add a lot of atmosphere. Keeps up with the apocalyptic feeling of the previous track. Good. 4/5 Like Suicide Takes a really long time to get going. Has some great sludgy guitar moments, but is otherwise pretty sluggish and uninteresting. Chris Cornell continues to impress with great vocals, but it's not enough to keep the song interesting. Has a great guitar solo and the drumming is impressive at times, but at this point the sound is getting kinda old. Fine. 3/5 While not indefensible this album suffers a lot from a lack of sonic diversity. Many of the songs sound really similar and never really evolve beyond their initial premise. Most of the tracks are plagued with unjustifiably long runtimes, several overstaying their own welcome by more than a minute. This adds to an already bloated tracklist and makes the album drag. With some additional sonic ideas, perhaps it wouldn't feel so long. The overbearing production, especially on the guitars doesn't help either. That being said there is plenty to like about this. Chris Cornell sounds absolutely stunning, delivering perfect line after perfect line. His voice and presence is infectious and really feels real and genuine, especially when he's left to just belt one out. There are some layers of interesting lyrical writing, and you feel immersed once they grip you. Some of the songs that do go out of their way to sound different show really interesting concepts and really highlight the band's ability to adapt. I also would like to shout out the guitars. While they are a bit overbearing at times, they do really produce some great riffs and solos every now and so often that really tingle the right areas of the brain. In the end I found it a bit unspectacular, honestly got really bored of it around half way through. I do recognize the talent that went into it, but can't see myself returning to it any time soon. 3/5 Fave track. 4th of July Least fave track. Head Down
70 minutes of essentially the same pretty good rock song / 10
wears on a liiiiittle too long but there are certainly some riffs to be had. i'm reminded in the first 5 seconds of black hole sun why it's such a classic
Surprisingly good! I know Black Hole Sun, of course, but had not in my memory heard any others. The music is textural and interesting, and the vocalist is very talented. I'll listen again. Nothing stood out, but I enjoyed it.
would have loved this if i were 14
Listened to this one when it came out. But I was 13. Haven’t listened to it since. I remember all the singles plus a few others. Kickstand is still the best song in the album.
I always feel like Soundgarden sounds similar, but there was some good variety in this album. It is still very obviously Chris Cornell. It is also a little depressing, but good.
I want to like this more than I do and it makes me feel like I’m not a cool enough 90s kid. It’s very 90s grunge and has some great hits on it. And he sings with a lot of heart. I find him hard to understand though, and it’s not easy for me to feel “hooked” by a majority of the songs. They’re certainly rockin’, and it’s very well done overall. Just can’t really get into it.
I like Chris Cornell's vocals but overall this album didn't do it for me. Black hole sun + spoon man were highlights
I was in high school in the 90s, so Soundgarden is one of many bands that makeup the soundtrack of my youth. I wasn't really a grunge kid, but it was inescapable. I haven't really listened to Soundgarden since high school, other than a song here or a song there. This was fine. It took me right back to my teen years. Because I am now old, I do have more of an appreciation for grunge music. It is still not my favorite. The songs on this all blend in and they feel similar to each other. Much like Led Zeppelin, I think small doses of Soundgarden are fine. Listening to a full album is not my jam. A solid 3.
I mean this is fine. I like black hole sun obviously. Everything else was meep.
Cornell is an extremely talented vocalist, and some of the guitar and bass riffs are nice and meaty. However, the lyrics and general song structure don’t have much variety. Black Hole Sun and Spoonman are both great, classic tracks.
Solid 90s grunge album through and through, except for Half. That song was just out of nowhere.
The trend continues of 90s alternative albums where the only good songs are the ones you heard as singles.
An optional band with dark tone, typical grudge band from the era where I grew up and since then nothing can compare.

3 - It was okay, but it really did feel a bit generic after a while
One of the better Grunge albums ever made. A really special combo of classic / psych rock and the dark grunge sound of the 90s. Enjoyed the listen, but felt as though it could be just a hair shorter. Black Hole Sun is a perfect track and for just that alone I rate this one a 6/10
"Black Hole Sun" is an all-timer and seeing it on the tracklist raised my expectations, but the rest of the album largely didn't capture my attention. There are some other okay tracks (like "Fell On Black Days," maybe "Spoonman"). I don't especially like the vocals, which is more of an issue at this dosage (an overlong hour and ten minutes). The Mandela effect is telling me this band's name was originally Soundgarten.
Didn’t have the time to listen in full, but great guitar as always from soundgarden. 6/10 (as didn’t complete album)
Grunge rock, pretty cool sound even if it’s not to my usual tastes
Got repetitive quick. Black hole sun is a great song though
It's ok. So.e nice parts but most left me unmoved Starts with a more epic tune thank I would imagine for grunge - Let me Drown reminds me of the later audioslave Second song is boring Third (fell on black days) sounds like a late summer evening before you have to go back to school
black hole sun WONT YOU COME
Very nice rocker from the 90's
This grunge/metal band was big in the 90s and 00s, especially with their big hit “Black Hole Sun”. That’s a good song but there wasn’t anything else on the album that I thought was above average, so I give it three stars instead of two since it was a top selling album.
Another 90s album! This one really sounds it, too. I don't have any Soundgarden albums, but I do have Audioslave album(sg.), so I was excited to hear this. This album cover is pretty unaesthetic though. Well, turns out I like Audioslave more than Soundgarden. The electric guitar + drums combo is a lot stronger here... you could even say it's something like a garden of Sound! I do like that all the wacky time signatures were apparently accidental. Highlights: 'Black Hole Sun', '4th of July', 'Like Suicide'
Brakuje temu zespołowi sporo do Nirvany. 6/10
