Beautiful 🤩 objectively awesome but probably won’t listen again.
Virtually perfect pop composition and an incredible voice
Destacan Hello, When we were youg, Send my love y sobre todas All i ask.
A showcase of Adele's impressive vocals. A lot of songs from this album have shown they have staying power.
So many great sing-a-longs. Very simple music, but it gives me big feels.
This album is for when you want to be SANGIN.
So much heartbreak, forlorn, longing, I'm sure the sadness hits a note for anyone who listens to this album. Gotta love a cathartic feel that leaves you feeling wistful. Listen counts are wrong, All I Ask is the top song, then Love In The Dark, don't think too hard about why those two. Lovely to end on a positive song, probably only fits when listening to the full album though.
There's a reason why Adele is the face of Ballad Pop, and it's because she's bloody good at making it. Not only is she a fantastic singer, but most of the backing instrumentals are simple enough to compliment her abilities but also interesting enough to keep me listening. Even songs I had previously not enjoyed when hearing them on the Radio in 2015 I found myself enjoying on a dedicated listen (particularly Hello and When We Were Young). There are def a few songs that don't get this treatment, particularly the stretch of Love In The Dark, Million Years Ago, and All I Ask I found a little weak, but overall: good job Adele, keep on Adele-ing! Fave Songs - Send My Love (To Your New Lover), I Miss You, Water Under The Bridge, River Lea, Sweetest Devotion
4/5
I was like “oh.. Adele again?” but then I listened to it and remembered how amazing she is
feeling the majesty of the world type music
Pretty nice album, there are a lot of popular hits, Adele's voice is great and this is great not only for background listening but also for actually paying attention to the music. Overall, pretty great.
Adele really has an incredible voice. Some lovely singles and nice deep cuts when she can show off her skills. I find these a little bit difficult to engage with properly, but I still found this a good listen. 4
Good
Nice
25 isn’t the stone-cold classic 21 is, but it’s still a fine collection of strong songs. Adele is a little older and wiser, but remains in possession of that powerful, smoky voice.
I almost did not relisten as I thought of it as decent, but not as good as 21. Whoops, it's almost as amazing and aside from the last 2 tracks (maybe 1) it is rooted in my soul. This is almost a 5 (it does suffer from the great 21) and I would rate a 4.5, but going:
This is a beautiful and truly heartbreaking record. Adele’s lyricism is just as poetically striking as it is devastating. I really appreciate an artist who is able to bare their entire soul to the world, and this is absolutely that. I feel that musically this album suffers from a lot of overarching sameness, I struggled at times to tell different songs apart. Instrumentally it’s very well performed, and the production value is as high as you’d expect for such a high profile artist. I enjoyed my listen through, but I don’t believe I’ll be listening to this again. 4*
Great album.
Every song is beautiful not just the hits.
Merry Christmas and stuff!
The best songs on this are really well arranged; they sound powerful and ominous. The other songs are, I don’t know, kind of Ed-Sheeran-y? But hey, I like that too.
Jako dobar album, iako za moj ukus previše “tužnih” pjesama, ali pjevački 5/5
Πολύ ωραίο άλμπουμ για ταξιαδακι άνετο !!!
4.2 stars rounded down. Generally great stuff but 21 is the best.
Anyone who doesn’t enjoy at least one Adele song is the type of person who likes to be oppositional just to be oppositional. I have even heard my 13 year-old son (“bro”) jamming her music. This album definitely had more modern instrumentation and more “up-beat” songs - which I quite like. Great album that I really enjoyed. Regarding those who hate on this (or any album) because of its popularity or that it was “over played” - part of this project is having the ability to let go of those preconceived opinions and just listen.
Some bangers I’d forgotten about
I actually quite enjoyed this. I was expecting a paint-by-numbers soft pop album but I was pleasantly surprised. Adele’s voice sores as the centerpiece of 25. The producers made no qualms placing Adele’s vocals in the front-and-center of the mix. The understated and instrumentation feels like an intentional statement. We’re all here for Adele’s generational set of pipes and they were not afraid to show it through the use of an understated piano and basic drum programming acting as second fiddle to the voice. 3.5/5
молодец тетя. 25 лет , а уже как тетя.
fucking gorgeous, among the best contemporary pop has to offer
Better than I expected!
I liked this more than I thought I would. Solid 3.5/5, rounding up because I'm feeling generous. My favourites were River Lea and I Miss You. Hello and Sweetest Devotion close runner-ups.
God Adele’s voice is perfect
Gutes Album mit starken Songs
國中時就聽過了 很不錯
Poetic sadness, encapsulating the stages that come with a serious breakup. I thoroughly enjoyed this album
There's one crack of her voice in "When We Were Young" that damn near broke me. After the last Adele listen for this, I didn't add Adele to my rotation, but did appreciate her, so I wasn't disappointed to see this. She has a command over her voice that calls from the surrounding instrumentation. Like an MC in the sense that she knows how to use the accompaniment to add to the delivery.
Not even debatable that her voice is incredible. Possibly the most powerful in the game. Feels a little slower more introspective that 21, but not in a depressive way. Still enjoying her output here.
Hello: Overplayed, unfortunately. I was fighting the urge to skip it. I also was not a huge fan of it when it came out. 5/10. Send My Love: 9/10 One of my favorite Adel songs. I Miss You: This is one of the only songs that I have not heard before. I feel like it is 7/10 When We Were Young: 7/10: Always a good one. Love Remedy: 9/10: Wow this song made me feel emotional for some reason. I had never heard it before. I loved it. Water Under the Bridge: 6/10: another overplayed one that I didn't love River Lea: 8/10: oOOOoooooOooo Love In the Dark: 9/10: Always one of my favorites. Love belting it. Million Years Ago: 8/10: Wow so pretty. Another rare one that I have not heard before. All I Ask: 9/10 UGH love this song. So beautiful. Sweetest Devotion: 6/10. Cute and peppy way to end. She seems to have a trend of doing this.
I loved this album. It is very nostolgic for me.... I know I'm young.
This was way more enjoyable than I expected. It’s still very much not what I listen to day to day but it’s hard to deny what a great singer she is. I like that she deviated from the usual r&b/pop a bit by doing a Spanish/jazz guitar backed song and even something with what sounded like live drums (When We Were Young). The only song I fast forwarded was “River Lea”, which was was uncharacteristically bad. It’s unfortunate that it’s the only non love song. The themes are a little stale after a while.
Adele has a sensational voice and I can definitely understand the appeal of her music. It's powerful. It's drives through you and helps to lift you up to the sky. They're great songs with very relatable lyrics. For my money, I'd love if she took a few risks. But I suppose you don't get to be a massive superstar by ignoring what works. And it does work and I might actually return to this one. Though to be frank, it also makes me want to listen to Florence and the Machine.
National. Treasure. But the track list wasn't a good as the last Adele album
I took me awhile to get aboard the Adele train, but goddamn she is a gem.
I have mixed feelings about this album. In one respect the production quality is so huge it’s hard to focus on the talent. By the other respect her talent is so huge that it deserved nothing less than the full production. I think almost every song on here needed as a radio hit at some point, and reasonably so. Her voice has so many layers of soul and power. When I was “25” I was still hollering “Dude, watch this…!” before screaming in pain or stupidity. Key tracks included Send My Love and the lessor known Sweetest Devotion. She is definitely one of the greatest vocalists of our generation (I know she’s younger than me but damn it I’m claiming her as ours!).
This album was jammed packed with melancholy, lost love, missed opportunities, and regret. And I'm here for every minute of it. It scratched an itch I didn't even realize I had this morning. I enjoyed every minute of this album.
Though the subject matter is consistently about pain and loss, this is a well produced and arranged album. You can't deny how talented Adele is.
This was a bit depressing. Amazing voice though. Stand-out: Water Under the Bridge
I feel like the album starts off very strong and gets muddled towards the middle. But it can live off the strength of its best cuts.
Adele is a goddess that can never do anything wrong.
I can see why this album was so big when it came out. Lots of radio singles. Overall, good sounds and smooth vocals. Not my normal type of music, but Adele is definitely talented.
01) Hello - 10,0 02) Send My Love (To Your New Lover) - 10,0 03) I Miss You - 8,5 04) When We Were Young - 10,0 05) Remedy - 8,0 06) Water Under the Bridge - 9,0 07) River Lea - 8,0 08) Love in the Dark - 8,0 09) Million Years Ago - 8,5 10) All I Ask - 8,5 11) Sweetest Devotion - 8,0 TOTAL: 8,78 (88/100) Current ranking: 43/336
You can't deny Adele's vocal prowess or song writing abilities. Each song smoothly transitions to the next, which seems even stronger than the song before. It's a powerful album.
As long as humans keep getting their hearts broken, we'll need big, overdramatic torch songs, and Adele may be the current queen of the genre. Adele's skill with a sad song gives us confidence when we have none, recognition when we feel alone, and on this album, acceptance when we need to move on. Is it all a bit much? Of course. But that's what the sign said on the way in, and when you need a torch song, nothing else will do. All that said, I do think the uptempo numbers on 21 work better for me than those on 25, and it's not clear to me why they both belong on an "essentials" list. But that's a critique of the list, not the art. To end on a high note, River Lea has amazing bones and deserves a raft of covers in different genres. I want to hear it in blues and Americana and roots rock...
Some real bangers on here, although I had enough of heat break by the end!
Not my favorite Adele album but still good
- While 21 was a 4.25/5 rounded down, this is probably a 3.75/5 rounded up. This album never hits the stellar highs of that one, but it is still quite solid. - There is no doubt in my mind that "Love In The Dark" is the best track. Almost gives you the same emotional push as "Set Fire to the Rain." - Once again, wish there were more albums like this overall.
2 Adele albums in 3 days is a bit much. I like Adele but I didn’t think 25 was as good as 21.
A major album for me
83% Best: Hello; I Miss You; Water Under the Bridge; All I Ask; Sweetest Devotion Must-Hear? Sure
I liked this more than I like to admit.
Very good
Do you want to feel sad about yourself for a few songs? Pop this on.
Hell(o) yeah
I haven’t listened to this album a ton (or maybe even all the way through ever tbh). The first two singles didn’t hit for me like her first two albums did, so I didn’t give it the time it definitely deserved.
Beautiful voice beautiful gowns. There are a few lulls on the album but overall an excellent listen
Lovely.
HELLO. ich weiss no wo de song usecho isch und sofort köar gsi isch dases en riese hit wird und daser lang wird en hit blibe. finden nöd esoo guet aber er isch so catchy und het afoch e ernsthaftigkeit wo d adele überebringt. doppelrefrain am schluss isch recht heftig. sie het ebe scho e riesestimm. find d chords vode strophe chli arsch. send my love isch etz im verglich gad chli weird. musikalisch mega unbeschwert textlich gar nöd. wenn de beat im refrain inechunt machts nonig ganz sinn. find de song etz weeeniger geil. drums uf i miss you sind geeeeil. de federhall au. coole song aber etz nöd soo catchy. when we were young isch wieder mega adele meega schöne bass mit plektrum gspielt, suuuper schöni chords sie singt au afoch fantastisch. aaah und IV-moll. schöööne song. She has an amazing voice, but the later part of the album isn’t as strong as the first.
She is a truly gifted artist. I never heard whole album, there are sometimes that are overplayed and ... ugh.. bit overall pretty impressive. Just don't get hooked on drugs and pass out! I've waffled back and forth ... but will lean towards the 4
Great album, wonderful voice 4/5
Not sure you need both 21 and 25 on this list, but okay.
Didn't expect to like this as much as I did. More varied than I expected, a *big* voice and just an overall quality listen.
This woman's voice is amazing. I admit I don't care much for the lyrics, but she could sing anything and I think it would sound incredible.
The marketing genius of this album is so sick!
Hello from the “larger” side!!! Great album, full of catch tunes and sweet vocals. This one brings back a lot of good adventure memories with the spouse. Big fan of Adele.
R&B. Venga, un 4 por el vozarrón.
Adele is an artist that i am very familiar with since a lot of her stuff played on the radio when i was a kid but i still wasn't expecting 25 to be this good. I have heard all the singles quite a lot on the radio and they are all good songs but here i found that even the regular album tracks were fantastic. Adele's singing combined with the instrumentals were absolutely great and could even be enough to nearly bring me to tears especially with the sadder lyrics. Even Send My Love (To Your New Lover) while feeling distracting at first, is a pretty nice break from the sadder stuff. The album may have dipped in quality a bit with the last 3 songs but other than that, this is an absolutely great album. Best Song: River Lea Worst Song: All I Ask
Decent, still don't dig her voice too much
Very good. Strong songs throughout.
Compared to some others, easy to listen to and a great voice.
Not exactly my cup of tea and the album is pretty melancholy, but she has an amazing voice and listening to “Hello” gave me chills
Powerful singles all around, but also some really great deeper cuts that have more energy than the piano ballady songs Adele is known for. The middle of the album is incredibly weak to me, but the rest is really well done stuff. Quite like the drums in I Miss You. Also this is Adele you already know these choruses are great as well. Just wish the album didn't have all those duds in the middle, would have been perfect with 3 songs cut
4/5
Not my favorite Adele album but a good one anyways
Top track: I Miss You
Great pop music! When I saw it, I thought “oh, shame, this is a lesser Adele album” and then somehow I knew like half the songs! She’s just inevitable! She permeates the culture! Long live Adele!
Verry impressive Singer-Songwriter album
Incredible voice. Great songs
I was not expecting to enjoy this album as much as I did. I knew Adele was a good singer, but "good" is underselling it. Great vocals here, although the music is fairly basic (it's perfectly fine, but nothing exceptional). I'm glad this is on the list, and I'll add this to the options for days when I want something to chill me out. 4.1
Agree with Jake's assessment.
Second Adele album on this list. We had 21 already, which is a better album imo than 25, but still top notch. She's an incredible vocalist.
It was really nice, knew most of the songs.she writes them all too which makes it even better.
I found this surprising. It starts as a fairly typical pop album, but as it progresses, you can tell something else is going on. While I did miss the more RnB elements from the previous album, it seems muted here. Overall, I enjoyed this album more. To me, it feels fuller and more realized. In honesty, this is not really my style, but she is obviously very talented.
I remember that I was late listening to her 2nd LP as I thought it‘s just some generic pop music with a great voice but I quickly changed my opinion after I listened to the whole album. Anyway - I wasn‘t late for this one and l did listen to it right after it‘s release and now again of course. Everyone that loves great voices should listen to this album imo!
Better than your average pop, and if I wasn't forced to hear some of these songs on repeat for the past ten years, they would sound a lot better. Definitely more thoughtful than most other modern music.
Not necessarily my kind of music, but this was pretty good. She's got a great voice and some of the songs were surprisingly catchy and a few just made me sad. 4/5
I can’t hate… it’s pretty damn good…
Almost impossible to be objective. She’s an incredible singer that’s for sure, but I can’t figure out how to rate a popular album that I don’t care for, backed by extreme talent…
I've listened to Adele, but only when she's come up on the radio. So, this is my first "sit down and listen". Hello - 5/5. Very impressed. Great lyrics n vocals 😎 Send my love - 3/5. Kinda standard pop fare 😑 Miss you - 4/5 Nice ethereal music 😏 When we were young - 2/5 Not for me 😴 Remedy - 2/5 Bland enough Water under the bridge - 3/5 Slightly better girl power song 😉 River Lea - 4/5 nicely produced 🙂 Love in the dark - 4/5 quite good / powerful 👍 Million Years ago - 5/5 Excellent. Spot on 😎 All I ask - 5/5 nice ⭐ Sweetest Devotion - 5/5 nice 🌞 Hard choice for overall. Close to, but not quite a 5 It's a 4 star for noe
One of the best voices alive. Emotional lyrics and delivery. Some catchy songs. Strong album overall…needs a little more variety and growth for 5 stars
Adele is an absolute tour de force
she has a good voice, I'm just not super into the style
Hello // I Miss You // When We Were Young // Million Years Ago // All I Ask //
Solid album, with a few really great tunes. Especially like Million years ago and Hello. Prob a 4?
I keep forgetting that she is one of the greatest, most talented artists of all time. Her music stays nostalgic but I'm ok with that because she doesn't need to prove her musical ingenuity any further (or risk damaging it). It scratches the itch in my brain just right.
A solid and more atmospheric album from the pop soul maven.
This is a crazy hit parade, like over half of these songs are huge hits, I don't think this is the most cohesive or engaging album experience ever, I honestly think Adele's style gets slightly exhausting over a full album. But it deserves huge props for the amount of timeless songs that are on here, especially since it's not even her first album like that.
Lots of classics on this album.
I never really quite understood why Adele is so revered. Sure, she has a great voice, and she's a good songwriter. But I often find her music boring. I liked this album more than I expected to, and I think I like it more than 21. There's more variety here, and obviously the songwriting is more developed. Adele is at her best when she's playful and when she experiments with sound. "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" is a great example of this — even if it does sort of sound like an Ed Sheeran song. Of course the drums from "Rolling in the Deep" are iconic, but there's some fantastic percussion on this album as well, like on "I Miss You," which has a great post punk beat and also has some great Cure-esque guitar (her mom was a huge fan, hence the Lovesong cover on her first album). "Million Years Ago" is a decent song, though, with its classical guitar, it kind of echoes her "Lovesong" cover. Where the album falls flat for me is on some of the slower songs. The ballads that became singles are pretty good (Hello, When We Were Young). But there are some clunkers — "The River Lea" is cheesy and the lyrics just sound awkward with her accent. And the back half of the album starts to drag with too many slow songs. There's some really good stuff here, and also some stuff that was very meh. What Adele does consistently well is good lyrics and melodies. I just wish more of her songs weren't such a snooze fest. Probably a 3.5, but I'll round it up to 4/5.
Solid first half but not as strong second half. Still incredibly good; I mean, it’s Adele, she’s brilliant.
While it can be boring at times, when its good, its very good.
Raw emotion with a triumphant twinge. Like the Timberwolves. Lot of really good singles with no duds. Kept me locked in the whole way.
There’s no denying what a power house Adele is vocally. This album can be a bit one note but there are some real standouts on this album. Send my love, river Lea and sweetest devotion were my standouts. I had only heard Adele’s biggest hits so I enjoyed listening to a whole album.
I'd take this over another Neil Young album any day of the week.
I don’t know… I respect it more than love it. Also weird to hear it in the sunny brightness of summer; strikes me as more of a Fall in New England album. Could be the melancholy nature of it throughout. Having said all that the highlight throughout her career continues to be her voice which no question, it’s an instrument like no other. The quality of production is world class too, but yeah… I get why there’s universal love for her albums as they are masterpieces but my favorite Adele to date is her first album were she was a little more raw and gritty and not as professionally produced. That voice though… 🙌🏾
She can sing with the best of them. Not my style but she makes good sounding music.
Memorable songs and meaningful lyrics sung by a stellar voice.
'Hello' pazzesca, testi un po' basici, ma rendono nel contesto. Il resto non mi pare all'altezza. Lei bravissima eh, però che peso...
A beautiful and powerful album. Obviously, her voice is amazing. The vulnerability in her lyricism is touching. The composition is almost always on point. Very few misses here.
First listen to this, okay album.
Great album from Adele, her vocals are incredibly powerful. Already knew some of her more popular songs but was great to listen to the entire album!
Perf Understand why the mums love her so much
I thought the songs that were not radio hits would be duds but I was surprised, there were some nice ones I hadn't heard before. It was a bit mopey at times but overall I liked it.
Pretty solid. I like Adele. 7.5/10
I CAAAAAAAAAAAN LOVEEEE YOUUUUU IN THE DAAAAAAAAAAARK
I was not a fan of Adele initially and I'm now pretty unsure as to why. Sometimes when I hear something unique, my instinct is to dislike it I think. Anyhow, it was a couple of years before she won me over with the lush power of her voice and I now think she is probably one of the best current female vocalists out there. It's a towering and staggering sound that she brings. Every time I hear this album, I find something new. This time it was "Water Under the Bridge" that really hit. It spoke to my experiences and I found the lyrics pretty moving emotionally. I hope we get a lot more of Adele in the years to come.
I won’t revisit my Adele rant from “21,” just one minor addendum. Adele placed two albums on the list (this one of them) but neither stuck around. She’s unrepresented in the current edition, I believe. But… so are Whitney Houston and Celine Dion!? That’s shocking. I wouldn’t exactly say Adele’s music fits with Houston’s and Dion’s stylistically, but as an iconic cultural voice of a decade-plus, they’re the only modern artists I think I would compare to Adele. Seems to expose a blind spot on the 1001. Ok, one more addendum - an apology to pretentious-ass. He can think whatever he wants about Adele and any other album. And, in fact, while I may disagree with the assertion that “21” is vanilla, “25” is honestly a bit vanilla. A bit too adult contemporary. Adele’s voice is maturing here and still stands out, but the style and songs don’t quite live up to her earlier work. I revisited “19,” and hadn’t remembered how much more of a lounge/jazz/soul feel that one had, closer to Amy Winehouse than the Adele of six years later.
More filler songs than 21 but there is no denying the voice!
All of Adele’s album covers are pictures of her face from different angles. The next cover should be taken from below, looking up at her face. Zoomed out a bit, but focused on her mouth using a large aperture to softy blur the rest, to portray her iconically because that’s what her voice is…iconic. I read back my review of 21…a 3.5 with too much filler. After listening to 25, then 21, then 25 again, I like 25 better. The album cover is better too. Of what could be considered filler, I thoroughly enjoyed Million Years Ago. The simple guitar backing compliments her voice so well. It’s auditorily (not a word) intimate as hell and the power of her voice is clearly evident even though it is restrained.
Honestly was a banger
not my taste but I can appreciate the talent
she has a nice voice, it was a good album
adele is a talented lady
There’s a good chance you’ve heard the opening track “Hello” before, which has become a hallmark in Adele’s catalog with the spare piano and touches of reverb that build into a choir echoing into the emptiness. There’s also a good chance you’ve heard the next track “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” before, which is one of her weakest songs with the muffled stomp-clap beat that takes more focus than any semblance of melody. The fact these two are together sets the tone for how inconsistent this album is. It’s not a bad album, but it’s pretty apparent how each song has a different producer, which leads to different vocal effects and instrumental compositions across the album. Adele has been at her best when the production is dark and gritty, and that’s not always what you get here. This also translates to this album's vocal performance and lyrical themes, where it’s coming from a more mature perspective, reflecting on past relationships. She isn’t midway through a breakup like she was on 21, thus the framing would be different. But the songwriting hasn’t aged up with that maturity all the way through, and there is not as much raw power in the delivery. “Hello” and “Love in the Dark” are great songs, but you don’t quite get a “Rolling in the Deep” or “Set Fire to the Rain” here. Overall, it’s a solid album that will get a recommendation, as there are good selections to be had here. I wish it were a little tighter and more focused.
I’ve only really ever listened to Adele from her biggest hits, and knew she had a great voice but never delved deeper in her albums. WOW she’s great, and I feel kind of bad not having heard many of her other songs, such a rich sound, with great backing to assist. 3.8
Good stuff. Just not really my thing.
I love Adele. A class act! 4
I remember seeing Adele on a news magazine show as a teenager. I was very impressed with her that far back. She vanished from view for a time. Several years later, 19 popped onto the scene. She was truly on her way. I listened to 21 probably 100 times. This is actually my first complete listen to 25. Hello is a stunner from the start. Of course, it had massive radio play, so I knew it. The rest of the album…Pure Adele. Her vocals are soulful and haunting. Her emotions come through with power and grace. She deserves her place in music history and fans will always reflect kindly on her work.
Top voice, decent tracks
Every time Hello starts I want to go "is it me you're looking for?" I've heard Send My Love before, no clue it was Adele.
Beautiful voice, haunting vocals, very straightforward love/heartbreak songs. I have never really given her much of a listen but I enjoyed dipping my feet into the water with this one. May explore some of the other albums from her.
Wow, this is an amazing record. Adele is an all time great and continues to prove it here with amazing performances. The songwriting and production are incredible, too - every song is great. Only knocked down from 5 to a 4 because it’s not my preferred style (heavy on the ballads). But for many people, I could see this easily being a 5.
She's really good! Never listened to this other than the singles that repeated on the radio for years.
Dude you're getting Adele!
We all know Adele at this point. Hello and Send My Love are absolute masterpieces while also being super innovative. The rest of the album is quite good, but is a little more same-y. But Adele's voice is absolutely incredible, as is her lyricism. Not much to fault here.
Instant classic!
The way I was belting these songs while I was deep cleaning
What a voice
Great voice. Too slow and dramatic for my tastes but clearly a well put together album and incredible talent
Adele has such an incredible and singular voice. Immaculately produced and performed, but in my view doesn't ascend to the very highest tier of pop songwriting.
Had never listened to her album before. Really good album. Very powerful and soulful voice.
Good shit
Extra points for taking me down a memory hole to when I lived in LA
She can sing about absolutely nothing and make it beautiful. Hence the hatred from others. However, I happen to think that while her songs happen to be simple, they also contain a magic more often than not. Emotion flows through amid the chord progressions and choir accompaniment. It puts you into her world, and that’s powerful stuff. Her cataclysmic voice is obviously the show, but the supporting characters of composition and prose twisting into poetry is what completes the strong exectuiton.
Good album, lots of hits. Emotional.
Very nice voice, good selection of tunes.
Best song:send your love Vibes: big dramatic ballads, urgency Themes: breakup
Maybe the best female singer ever. She could sing the phone book and it would be good.
Solid.
Man for a song I've heard a ton of times over the years Hello really gave me goosebumps this morning. Actually listening to it really helps with a song like that. The rest of the album is beautiful. Not usually my thang but it was very pleasant. Soft 4
I mean, it's Adele.
nice - but my favorite is live at the royal albert hall
I cannot give this a 5. I want to but I simply cannot as there is not enough variety. I love the album overall it's a very solid 4. There are a couple songs that aren't just her belting out melancholy lyrics (which she does incredibly well) as in Send My Love, but overall most of the rest of the album is just kinda slow melancholy songs. Again she sings them super well its just that's not really something I want and entire album to be. Also every time I hear Hello all I can think of is the scene from The Amazing World of Gumball where Pluto is singing about not being a planet, "the hurt I feel is deep insiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide/my planet status has been deniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiied". It makes me laugh which is unfortunate because Hello is not exactly a super happy song but I can't help it.
love her voice & expression in her songwriting, but don't think this is as strong as "21" (and why is 21 not on this list???). a few too many melancholy ballads (although they are good). she shines in the more uptempo tracks-Send my Love, & Water under the Bridge.
A great pop record with a great Singer.
Good!!
I enjoyed this, not as much as 21, but still good music.
Genre: Pop Instruments: 3/5 Modern Translation: 4/5 Dance Potential: 2/5 Listening Location: commute to work Heard it before: Yes Favourite Song: Send My Love (To Your New Lover) & Water Under the Bridge Made me feel: "Hello" wasn't an exciting start to the day but more upbeat songs followed and I found a pep. This album is iconic and, in my opinion, timeless.
I'm shocked by how much I enjoyed this album
There is something old school in this that I like but it is too sad in general for me.
good voice good production good lyrics only a few snoozers imo
1. 4.9 2. 4 3. 3.8 4. 3.8 5. 3.6 6. 4.1 7. 3.9 8. 3.9 9. 4 10. 4.3 11. 4.5
Good album, would listen again but 21 is better
Good contemporary torch songs. Recommended soundtrack for self-care. Does require a mood tho...
She's class obviously, some belters on there too 7.5/10
Professional and good, but a little too syrupy for me.
Grab your hairbrush and belt it out
Great voice, let down a couple of the tracks but when it's on, it is really on.
This album is full of great songs but nothing that pushed the boundaries of what she's capable of. She has mass appeal and a wide audience (is there anyone who really doesn't like her?) so this might be why she doesn't stray from what works. She's authentic, she's classy, she's a powerhouse. This album deserves praise and is really solid, her voice is incredible. Pretty hard to pack this many hits on any album nowadays. Just wish she really gave it to us, try something off the menu.
Damn. I've always heard Adele was a tour de force in the early 2010s and that her first couple albums dominated the charts. I was exposed to the hits and always thought she was talented but am blown away by the sales numbers and the magnitude to how big 25 was. Adele is definitely a beast. This album is really strong and I can now see why it took the charts by storm. Her vocals are incredibly strong. This album deserves the praise it gets and deserves to be discussed for its impact. While it's not in my personal wheelhouse I can recognize talent and quality when it is there. As a Bond fan I'll always appreciate Adele for giving us Skyfall. I'll have to go give 19 and 21 a listen at some point. 3.67 stars
Album Nr. 38 Die unverwechselbare Stimme von Adele in einem guten Album. Auch wenn die langweiligeren Titel eine Top-Bewertung verhindern.
Amazing, Adele at her best.
Moins bien que 21 mais intéressant d'un pdv instrumental
This isn't my favourite of the Adele albums but I also forgot how many incredible songs are on here
🙏🤍
Good, like all Adele albums, but not my runaway fav. 3.5
Lekker maar niet d'r beste album
Overall really solid
It's fine. Adele has two kinds of songs. She's good at them. This was more of them. I have this album because my partner likes Adele. I usually skip songs from it when they come up on shuffle because, like, girl, I knowwwwwwwwwww.
I don't think I want to like this album. But... It's actually quite good. I really just knew Adele as the lady with awful vocal technique who kills her voice, but she shows a range of technique and style that I wasn't expecting through this, going from the expected powerhouse ballad (Hello, When We Were Young) to a sound harkening back to some early 90s piano ballads (All I Ask) with a bit of the unexpected coming in the drum groove of I Miss You. I won't say it's going to have the staying power of a true classic, but it was better than expected.
no bells and whistles here. just sheer, immense, talent. IMO 19 is her best work. i highly recommend digging into that one.
I absolutely love the sound of this woman's voice. She could truly sing the phone book and sell albums. Right as Rain is a favorite for me from her early stuff...some of these tracks seem forced and over the top. I cringe at the almost screaming on Hello...but enjoyed some of the softer vocals where she sounds vulnerable. Adele my love you don't have to be over the top to be fabulous. Still great performances here, but would love to hear better song selections.
It’s Adele. Her voice is amazing but song choices are dreadfully depressing. Not my jam but can’t deny her talent.
I realise I haven’t listened to a whole Adele album before and that’s a shame. Very much enjoyed this - some lovely lyrics and tunes even if not her most original works. She has a voice to die for :)
It's probably the furthest thing from "cool" to like Adele, but so far the two albums I've received, I can understand the hype. If I had one minor complaint, it's that the album kind of falters after "Water Under the Bridge" and only regains footing near the end. That being said, she has a phenomenal voice, and I really like all of the production throughout. Favorite tracks: "Hello", "Remedy", "All I Ask"
Adele really is the best in the biz at what she does. Sad breakup songs don’t get much better than her. Amazing songs and amazing voice.
Adele siempre gusta
I liked this, never heard of her before but she has a unique voice so it was alright
Great production quality and impressive vocals. Song writing topics leave me cold but probably I'm the wrong audience for 25 year old love songs.
Starts of with the best song of the album but the rest is still good. Her voice is just insane and is basically a default 4.
This is great pop. Adele is a killer singer
Honestly this is probably Adele's worst album, but it's still really good. 21 would always be absolutely impossible to follow up but Adele still brings the heat on most of this album. I think the first three songs are the strongest run of the album, and I did start to lose interest as 25 moved more into what I'd call "showtunes territory". Her voice really is exceptional. Low 4.
Very good
Very pretty pop songs with a huge hook and focus on melody. Her voice is like an instrument itself and smoothly glides through the harmonies. The music itself, feels basic, but written for Adele to build upon and let herself take the show. The string arrangement on some of these songs are great too. Standout tracks: Hello, Send My Love (To Your New Lover), When We Were Young, Remedy, Water Under The Bridge, Love In The Dark, All I Ask 8 out of 10
A gorgous voice and fine arrangement. I heard it too often. One of my favorite radio stations plays some tracks again and again.
Great voice. Album felt a little repetitive after a while.
First of all, this album caught me off guard. More specifically Adele did. She really is rather magnificent. She makes beautiful music no doubt. Now for the other side of the coin... I have an issue sometimes with certain bands and musicians where i like or even love most of their music... but... listening to an album, song after song can get... repetitive. Adele has a very distinct voice and largely uses piano as an accompanying instrument. This makes her songs kind of start blending a bit, beautiful as they are individually. Still though, taken in bits, I will give her more attention.
Nice
Melodiskt lite tråkiga men vilken pipa
Stunning vocals and song writing. Very good album!
what a beautiful album. not my favorite musically but her ability to tell a story and convey yearning and heartbreak is UGH. love
Adele clearly is a rare megastar in terms of global popularity. Very difficult to have not been aware her in the 2010s. I don't think I've heard a full album from the start but I know it won't be too bad going in. For me being mid-30s, seeing the notes mention this is the reflection reflection of a 25 year old really makes me feel old and unaccomplished. So many songs are so dramatic and would be much more relevant coming from someone 55+. "When we were young" from a 25 year old is kind of silly, but I can't help but think about my mom dealing with dementia and just made me cry. "River Lea" has me wondering how many other forms of water have been blamed for things (the rain). By the time "million years ago" comes on I feel like now it must be some kind of joke that a 25 year old is writing this and is trying to be serious. Taylor is 34 right now and having a grand old time. Go have some fun Adele. Overall an album I can appreciate, but not particularly my cup of tea. I assume 21 will be on this list sometime and from the singles I know from that I can't rate this one the same. Probably not fair to deduct points by comparing her to herself or complaining the songs are too mature for her age, but I'm going to do it anyway. There isn't a "fun" song here. As I get a little further down the list I may treat this as a 5, but it is a 3.9 at most for now, and I'll round up. Favorite track: "Hello" 3.9/5
4+
It is a little boring but her voice is so good i don't really care.
Very powerful, somber, and soulful album. Adele kills the vocals on this album and includes some of her biggest hits. 3.92
I thought I had never listened to this through, but turns out that not only does my wife own the CD, so do my classic-rock obsessed parents. And turns out this album sold so well and reached so many people for a reason: it’s just good. Solid listen all the way through, lots of ballads and a few poppier tracks.
No m'ha agradat tant com l'altre però està ple de cançons icòniques i manté molt bona qualitat durant tot l'àlbum Expected Lorenzo rating: 4
Good album and artist. Adele’s voice is amazing. Although this is not the type of music I would listen to frequently, it is a good album and I will likely listen to these songs again.
Hard to rate this lower will this amount of influence and hits. Great voice, great songs.
Well, I like her, she's such a talent. Just the "briii-i-i-iiidge" in "Water Under the Bridge" annoys me.
Adele has an amazing voice. I just wish she wasn't complaining orion constant sorrow over a relationship.
I really love it!
Beautiful voice.
amazing album - can’t unhear the parody of hello which has somewhat ruined it for me but amazing vocals and orchestrations as always by adele. some songs are brought down by pop overproduction as a lot of mid 2010s albums are but the soul makes up for it in most cases. million years ago and all i ask are masterpieces
Not really my style of music, but good album. LOVE When We We’re Young and really like Hello and a few others.
Huh…hadn’t taken the time to listen before and therefore didn’t appreciate the emotional range of her singing or the vulnerability of her lyrics
Hello, Adele. Second record I got, and it's undeniably also a great record. Not my regular favourite cup of tea per se, yet the benefit of distance from it's omnipresent radio play helped judge it fairly... it's a solid dramatic pop record - maybe a bit too dramatic from a 25 year old but the themes hold up.
4/5. Good album, better than I expected for something so popular.
I felt very touched by this album. So many songs on love and longing. A strong voice and powerful lyrics. Definitely some songs I’ll have to come back to. 4 I really like the song A Million Years Ago. I feel like it has some tango undertones.
Mature and solid. Wonder how would rating change for a generation that is not so familiar with Adele in future.
Perfekte Stimme. Leider mit der Zeit etwas Eintönig. Enthält den Monsterhit ‹Hello›.
Water under the bridge is 🔥🔥 Easier album to listen to, since I’m pretty sure I’ve listened to all these songs before. Adele’s got a great voice
I like Adele, I didn't know this album had cultural significance. Thats cool, feels like I'm experiencing a little bit of history in the future.
I like the previous one better, hence why no 5
It’s Adele
I am currently reading a book called "Hitmakers" by Derek Thompson, and there is a chapter that talks about systems that are used to predict hits/singles called "hit predictor" and "sound out" which are online song testing companies that have users give a numerical rating after 90 seconds of a song without context. Anything above 65 can be a hit. The reason I mention this is because he specially mentions Adele. "Hello" from this album was mentioned because it scored a whopping 105. Which makes sense because the whole premise of the book is that people tend to like what they are familiar with, and she was still riding her breakout album 21 at this point. Speaking of which, every single track on 21 scored above an 80. That is so high that It is considered an outlier in that regard. Something no one achieved before, or since, including Adele herself. While I think 25 is a perfectly satisfying follow up to the phenomenon that was 21, it's hard to not compare it to those stratospheric heights she achieved there, and I feel it falls just ever so slightly short. She still has an amazing, timeless voice that hits you like a fuckin' torpedo, especially on things like the chorus to opening track "Hello." Speaking of which, she has always known exactly how to choose the perfect songs to open and close the album - which are the most critical. And she nails those choices here. Those are easily my two favorite tracks. As far as the material in between, it is very consistent and somewhat more mature. But perhaps that is the element I miss from 21 though, which had more of a rawness, almost a naivete, that just eviscerates you.
Great songwriting, incredible vocals
There is a lot to like about this album. Sure, Adele’s singer/songwriter piano songs can become a little stale throughout the 48 minute runtime, but there are other songs, especially Send my Love, that mix up the formula. Her vocals are always impressive as well.
iconic songs!!!!!!! its adele like adele is a queen of pop so what should i say enjoyable and memorable songs fond memories of being in the car and hearing these songs in the summer with my grandmother and mother
Always a classic
3.7
R&B. Venga, un 4 por el vozarrón.
Bucyrus
Mom pop... 5 regardless tho Probably the easiest music to listen to Argh 4 might be the highest I'll go
I could put this on and have a good cry any old day of the week. Really hits the mark for modern era ballads.
What an amazing voice.
Man, I always forget I actually like Adele quite a bit. Like out of the major radio-friendly acts of the ‘10s, she's held up incredibly well, and this wasn’t even her breakout album
Not as good as 19 or 21
Nice, easy listening
I can’t argue with the great singing ability, but it’s not my jam, and some of the songs are actually kind of weak.
great album!
I prefer 21 but this is good. Little more slow but she sings with such emotion.
Not something I would typically listen to but it's a great album
First time listening to 25 the album. Very strong and listenable. Basic but I really love her lyrics on When We Were Young :) of the many I didn't know before, my favourite is Love In The Dark. Finally, being 25 at time of listening, what a triumph Adele is.
Always holds up for my one-woman car concerts on long rainy drives to Portland or Spokane
A real fine banga now innit
I like singing along. Vocals are the star.
The popness has kept me away from Adele and there's no arguing that's a great album.
A beautiful album. Lacks the impact of her first 2 album but the songwriting is much more mature. Fav track - hello
Not as good as 21 but still an absolute slapper
She has such a great voice - more soulful than one would expect. I found the album really pleasant to listen to, although I think I’d appreciate it even more if I was going through a breakup.
Hello. I remember when that song was popular! It was good, but then as the album progressed I found myself thinking, “it’s just her singing to a chord progression.” I didn’t hear much instrumentation besides a repetitive chord progression for many of the songs. But on the second half of the album, I was proven wrong! Songs like Love in the Dark, River Lea, and Million Years Ago were great! Overall, I think the album is pretty good. Adele’s vocals are amazing and her lyricism is good. As the album progressed the instrumentation improved and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Between 4 and 5 based on first listen
Pretty catchy, enjoyable listen. Knew a lot already and didn't overstay it's welcome.
Beautiful voice, pours her soul into her music. Will remember to listen to this one when the mood is right
Wouldn't have listened otherwise so nice to get it here, great voice.
Songs I already knew: Hello Send my love When we were young Water under the bridge Great album, containing some of Adele's best songs. Other songs were also great.
Phenomenal singer, a bit MOR, but equally one of the most eloquent and certainly most honest of contemporary lyricists in articulating emotions. The depth of the quality on the non-singles tracks is amazing too (think I'd only heard Hello before). Chorus of Send My Love really sounds a lot like Paper Planes by M.I.A.
Better than I thought it would be
Never listened to the full thing. She can sing man
First time I've listened to her since actually experiencing heartbreak and it's definitely a lot better lmao, not her best work tho
Such a nostalgic album for me, but I don't know if I've ever listened to it start to finish. All I ask is such a classic but I also enjoyed million years ago. Overall, I very much enjoyed and it was good background music for my micro homework.
Soaring pop hits. Songstress who could freaking belt it. Song choice is curated for her strengths and sounds great. Good mix of tender ballads and early 2000s bangers.
Bottom line is Adele is an amazing vocalist, there aren’t many people with her talent and ability, there’s a reason she’s on this list. I was actually looking forward to listening to this album when I saw it was next —partially because it’s the first in this project that I actually remember when it came out (every other album so far was released at least ten years before I was born). And I have to say: Hello is an amazing song, truly, and Adele is a singular vocal talent. But the tendency toward the anthemic and melodramatic is not for me and there’s a lot of that here, as well as some dates production flourishes. Love in the Dark is a standout track, absolutely devastating. I would have a hard time listening to it again, it’s so raw, and the emotional content is tough to navigate but Adele handles it very well. Sweetest Devotion is the predictable hopeful ending song because otherwise this album would be a serious downer, though I enjoyed that track least of all.
Good album, but not my cup of tea
"When we were young" tu as 25 ans pelo
c toujours la meme chose mais c tres joli
Someday she will be considered one of the greatest voices of all time. Right now, this is a beautiful album made specifically to help endure massive changes and heartache.
Such an amazing, powerful voice.
It's real good. Gets a little one-note on Side A, but most of the songs are as close to flawless pop songs as can be. Notable Tracks (aside from the obvious hits): Love in the Dark All I Ask
A great album
Pleasantly surprised
Lady has chops.
Incredible voice. Some absolute classics. Hello still whips.
6/10 Adele has an incredible voice, but this is still pretty generic pop that tends to annoy me
Wow. What a voice. I definitely preferred the more pop-y tunes and had a hard time staying quiet while listening.
Overplayed? Sure, but also super polished, classy, melodic, and delivered by a showstopper of a vocalist. Adele will age well. Best song: When We Were Young
Very similar to how I felt about 21. It's very nice singing that trumps everything else. It is a good listen, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. However, I think it's an occasional listen. I think I'd fall off on this on repeated listens otherwise. 3.5/5
while not my favourite adele album (that would be its predecessor, the phenomenal “21”), this one is breathtaking. adele is truly a once in a lifetime talent who shines with this album that displays both vulnerability and courage. her powerful voice captivates and carries the songs. this one is not to be missed.
Ok
An album built to showcase a singularly talented vocalist. This album does its job admirably. Not every song is my style, but the majority rock harder than I anticipated.
I've known of Adele since she first became popular. I didn't mind her music, but it wasn't particularly something I felt inclined to actively look into beyond just the hits and the memes. In fact, "Someone Like You" is the first song I learned on the ukulele. Her music was just something I'd hear passively before carrying on with my life. All of that is to say that I have been sleeping on Ms. Adkins for far too long! It's not the kind of music that I'll find myself putting on all that often, but this album was fantastic! A bit of a downer thematically, which may be a turn off to some, but musically, the production and vocals are phenomenal. If you really want to feel sad, this is certainly a mandatory listen. It's only real fault is that it's a concept album centered around wanting to be forgiven by your partner or ex-partner, which limits its appeal. However, it is necessary for this album to convey itself emotionally rather than just being a collection of songs. It's great. I get it now. It's absolutely brilliant. 4/5
It was a good album.I was familiar with several of the songs. She certainly can sing and it was a nice break from some of the other albums on this list. It is better than a 3 not a solid 4 but I will round up.
Goshh, Quelle voix PUISSANTE. I like a lot
I’m not going to pretend this album isn’t boosted by nostalgia for me, it takes me back and it felt like a Manchurian Candidate awakening when I heard Water Under the Bridge for the first time in years. The woman has catchy tunes, no wonder she was so pervasive throughout the 2010’s.
