A+. One of my favourite all time. Listen whenever I’m my happiest. The sounds of this truly move me. What a wonderful bass & guitar sound
There are for sure some moments of musical transcendence on here. The drum intro to Sad But True. Even the plucky guitar ending Nothing Else Matters. I remember picking away at these tracks when I was 15. Ultimately this album feels stuck in that time. I know it moved the genre forward but lots of rhyming by numbers and kinda juvenile lyrics. Good but not great, IMHO.
Beautiful album. Nice soul. And I can’t believe he had such an incredible voice for so long.
First record I’ve actively disliked at first. Grew on me a bit lyrically but not what I was expecting from EC, for sure
First album doing this that I’ve not heard before and absolutely loved. Obviously I know Changes and Life on Mars and Queen Bitch. Beautiful, smart and really fun album.
Excellent. My toddler was even singing along “run run run run run run.”
Been tapering off my listening since all that stuff came out, but this album is still pretty great.
Fucken’ yeah!
Terrific. I think I’d listened before but I listen to a lot of the Live at Massey Hall album and it was a good reminder of how wonderful the album tracks are too.
Good record! I knew about 5 songs from radio, etc. there are a few songs that aren’t quite at the level of the singles but a great one to listen to overall
Ice Cube’s early stuff is a blind spot for me. Not for long after this listen 👌
Fun, jazzy tunes. Probably not something I’ll spend much time with but maybe one to listen to on a Sunday
Enjoyed this one! Will listen again. Certainly don’t love the man or what he stands for… but a few of his songs still kinda slap
This was a nice surprise. Didn’t know what to expect but it was a nice mix of pop, rock, soul and psychedelic.
I can see why this music influenced so many. Just sparse and captivating.
Like 8 legendary tracks and 4 legit stinkers. Incredible album with a weird dropoff in quality in the middle but still a regular listen, at least on half of it
Excellent prog rock record. I feel like the sequencing is weird as hell but songs are hard to argue. The drums! This 🪨 s
Dk
A fun listen. Liked it more than I thought. Will listen again
Actively annoying. 37 minutes was almost too much for me. Was relieved when it ended
An all-timer for me. I remember driving back from a 10-day silent meditation retreat in the mountains and it was the first album I listened to in 10 days and I was just bawling at how incredible it is. Meditation does funny things to a lad
This was always about where YYYs fell off the Maps for me (see what I did there?) but this relisten was worth it for Hysteric. terrific song
Was one of my faves all time in high school. Now it honestly feels like it needs an editor. Some great tunes. A lot of middling jams. Pretty good, not great, in hindsight
I must say, I had all but written off the chili peppers. New music sucks. Listened back to By The Way and found it middling. Even older music is just embarrassing But this album still slaps.
I’m in absolutely no position to judge jazz music but this is a nice listen
