Reviews (page 5 of 14)

I'm really really surprised how much I liked this album, I've never really liked Sting but maybe I just didn't give him a chance, the songs on this album fucking rule, they're pretty proggy but still kinda poppy, I'm super impressed. Mother is a super obvious reference to Elephant Talk by King Crimson, but I kinda like it. Overall an honestly great album and I'm very surprised by how much I like it.

Best leuk album, maar de oudere albums vind ik leuker. 7/10

Pre-listening thoughts: I’ve only heard a few songs from this album but I’m kind of excited for it based on what I’ve heard. I personally enjoy The Police 🙏 Post/during listening thoughts: that opening track was so strong and now we’re like cavemaning it up???? Wait gasped at the Every Little Thing She Does is Magic mention in O My God. Side One is so bizarre😭 and then you get banger after banger on Side Two. Redemption but not enough to be a five star album. 7/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: no Fav tracks: Synchronicity I, Miss Gradenko, Synchronicity II, Every Breath You Take, King of Pain, Wrapped Around Your Finger, Murder By Numbers Least fav tracks: Walking in Your Footsteps, Mother

The first few songs were total shit. I skipped through them. Then... BANG! From Synchronicity II on it was hit after hit. Every Step You Take doesn't even feel like it's meant to be from this album it's so different (in a good way). Hard to rate this one given the shitty first few songs but I loved plenty of it.

This was a mostly enjoyable album for me. The Police’s signature sound—a blend of rock with a quasi-reggae twist—makes it easy to listen to, and Sting’s vocals have a smooth, engaging quality that complements the music. The keyboard work particularly stood out, adding a lush texture to the arrangements. If I have one critique, it’s the inclusion of Mother. The song feels out of place amidst the rest of the album. It’s chaotic and jarring in a way that doesn’t quite fit the otherwise cohesive mood. Placing it at the end of the tracklist might have allowed it to feel more like an experimental closer rather than a disruptive interlude. That said, Synchronicity has a lot to offer, and Wrapped Around Your Finger was a standout for me with its hypnotic atmosphere and poetic lyrics. Standout Song: Wrapped Around Your Finger Score: 4/5

Every Breath is a classic. Rest of the album is good too 4/5

I like it but i stg sting can write the worst lyrics sometimes

Easy listening and a handful of songs stood out.

I know The Police and some of their songs, but I've never listened to any of their albums. Synchronicity is an interesting, and with perfect length to experiment a bit without tiring the listener. I've enjoyed it, but almost nothing stood out to me. Plus, Every Breath You Take, at first feels like it doesn't fit - then you notice that, hey, it kinda does, but it's just that with it popularity it overshadows everything around it. 4/5, but I see myself giving it a 5 if I could get hooked on it. But still, there remains the problem of one song overshadowing everything else.

Yeah it was much better than I thought it would be. Very very decent.

I've always loved Sting's music, and his time in a named band is also very good.

Nearly a perfect album… so close! Mother lets it down so it has to be a 4 from me.

Great album, but not my favourite Police albums. Pretty solid tho

Love this. 4/5

The back half of this album is so strong: Synchronicity II => Every Breath You Take => King Of Pain => Wrapped Around Your Finger. The rest of the album is OK. I started getting into Synchronicity I and Murder By Numbers (the bookends).

Sounds super good! Stewart sounds super focused, especially on the lovely "Wrapped Around Your Finger". Yeah, the first half is pretty odd but I kinda respect it. The big songs are really great. "Every Breath You Take" is a perfect song. Highlights: "Synchonicity I" & "Every Breath You Take", "King of Pain", "Wrapped Around Your Finger". 4 stars.

I don't need to hear "Every Breath You Take" ever again, but I liked this more than I thought I would. Low 4 stars

First half isn't very good, second half is amazing. 4 stars.

The Police’s massively best-selling final album which also happens to be one of the most lop-sided in history. The A-side generally tends to be B-Tier Police or worse (much, much worse). The title track opener and O My God are fine but Walking In Your Footsteps and Steward Copeland aka Ringo song Miss Gradenko are pointless filler and Mother by guitarist Andy Summers is part primal scream therapy, part Norman Bates monologue and part Discipline by King Crimson gone wrong and is ear-shredding in its awfulness. In terms of being a jarring inclusion it’s like chucking a bouncing ball of machetes into a sea of pillows or a scene of Cannibal Holocaust in a cut of An Officer And A Gentleman before a large unsuspecting movie theatre audience. The last 5 songs starting with Synchronicity II are all solid gold and appear on The Police’s Greatest Hits anyway but I would give 4 stars here simply for the stacked brilliance of the second half. Even though the atrocity of Mother is hard to overlook, albums with King Of Pain, Every Breath You Take and Wrapped Around Your Finger can’t be 3 stars.

IMO, "GITM" and "ZM", were better albums, but this was a fine final album, by a band that was becoming more dysfunctional by the day. A great place to call it quits.

Upon second listening I think I finally get this album, though 'Mother' is not a song I think I'll be coming back to.

Side B is a top 10 contender for best side B ever recorded. My brother listened to this albums side B daily for years and I hear it from his room. Didnt even remember side A. Not the best side but cool yet side B makes this a top 100 album ever

I feel like the second half is stronger than the first, but all in all a solid offering.

With the first song ... such a fast tempo, I thought I wasn't going to like this album. Thankfully they settled down, and it became quite nice. I enjoyed the album after getting through the first song.

Actually very enjoyable. Somehow surprised.

I believe that an album can truly change in one's listening by having some of the songs be overplayed on the radio. The first half of this album is so good, fresh innovative. The second half is mostly made up of songs that were overplayed in the 80s, and I am still not ready to listen to some of them (Specifically "Every Breath"). I wish I had got this album in the 80s because I would have loved it without a previous listen. 3.5/5

Almost front to back tasty

It's not my favorite album by them but it's still a solid Police album. Side two has the hits.

Interessant zu hören, hatte ich so nicht erwartet. Die typische Stimme von Sting ist manchmal nicht mein Fall, die Texte sind spannend. 4/5

Really enjoyed this. It has a bunch of bangers at the end but I was ready to give this a 4 before I even got to those. Probably close to a 4.5. This is a really solid album.

Never listened all the way through. Solid album, very 80s, atmospheric and some classic tracks from The Police on this. Killer (vs filler) score: 4/5

It is incredibly strange that Synchronicity by The Police broke Thriller’s chart dominance by toping the charts in the late summer/early fall of 1983. (Although the Flashdance soundtrack did initially end Thriller’s streak earlier that summer. Semantics!) It’s even stranger to learn this fact after listening to Synchronicity, which is….a really strange album. Like, the art pop album with reggae undertones and literary lyrical references had as much/more mass appeal as universally-approved pop perfection? Strange! I still really like it, though, but that might be because I’m into weird art pop. It starts off pretty slow and a bit obtuse, but “O My God” brings some much needed energy that helps win me over. Also, “Mother” is maybe the craziest song The Police ever recorded, and I adore it. After that, I’m 100% invested. Because of the rough beginning, Synchronicity is backloaded – even though I am bored by “Every Breath You Take,” only because it’s been overplayed to death – but it’s consistent commitment to strangeness and pushing the boundaries of the band’s signature sound are evident and appealing. Though I preferred Regatta De Blanc, Synchronicity is proof that The Police were never a singles band. If you like amazing musicianship, lyrics you could unpack for years, and unique aesthetic choices, this record will work for you. If it worked for everyone in 1983 and dethroned Thriller, it should work for you, too.

By this point The Police had clearly moved pretty far from their reggae/post punk roots and this has a lot of different influences from around the world Not a huge fan of every track, including the two non-Sting ones (especially Mother which is just annoying) Mostly enjoyed though, Synchronicity I/II and most of the second side are good. 4* due to a few fillers

I don't really know The Police as well outside of their hits and thought it was solid but it did leave me with wanting more. First half was really questionable, ("Mother" wtf??) but after that it really picked up. 8/10.

The Police were ubiquitous and this is a good one.

8/10. Really good

Love this album!

The album has a few bangers on it and feels pretty tight length wise! Definitely will come back to various parts of it.

I was a teenager when this came out. I like it. A lot. Although the Police were popular, I don't ever recall them being "the biggest band in the world". I wonder if maybe "band" is a key word, since other big(ger) artists were solo acts (Madonna, Michael, Prince, Bruce). Very good, maybe even a 4.5, but I'm rounding down.

A great album that had The Police riding off into the sunset. Aside from the Andy Summers track "Mother" that kinda kills the flow and vibe of the album, this is as solid an album as you could ever expect from a band at the top of their game.

first listen i don't love it, but i guess it's a solid record

There are some classics on here. Every Breath You Take is such a creepy song but darn if it doesn’t feel like summer 1983 from the very first chords.

It's good but Lord I've heard it to many times as a beardless youth

Obviously I've heard "Every Breath You Take" before (who hasn't?), but I hadn't listened to this album in its entirety. I was excited... It started off strong. Then "Mother" happened. That kinda took me out of it a bit, but "Every Breath You Take" and everything that came after was pretty good. 4/5

It was nice but wasn't in the mood for it :(

The reggae influence is pretty cool and there is a lot to enjoy here. Both self titles are good and there were some Suprise great tracks. Every breath you take is obviously the most polished and it's impossible to hear it with fresh ears. As a whole I think that this was quite good and at least interesting.

Good album with some great songs, some weird songs, and one creepy stalker song.

I forgot how great this album is.

I feel a bit bad that this album happened to me. I've always kind of felt Sting sucked but this album has some really great moments. Some songs like Mother are clearly a mistake for anyone to do but some of the instrumental work is pretty damn stunning. Lots of interesting flourishes and choices all over the place. I don't know what it is. The instrumentals and composition and editing are great. His voice is actually solid. It can't just be lyrics (and they aren't all awful). I listened to this one three times trying to figure out how I was giving The Police four stars. Still a mystery but if I had never heard of this band I'd think they needed to get rid of half of the songs on this album but the other half was tight.

I know most of these songs and I do really enjoy The Police but haven't listened to them in a long time. I think this is overall a 4 for me for sure. Favorites: Murder By Numbers Synchronicity King of Pain Wrapped Around Your Finger (I remember that MTV video with the candles) Least favorite track is absolutely Mother!

Torn between a 3 and a 4 here, I wasn't massively wowed by anything but the general overall quality is better than many of the 3s I've handed out.

Listened to this one many times. It's not my favorite Police record, but its quality, has some massive hits on it.

This album has a handful of great tracks, its definitely worth a listen. Of course, there's the hit songs that everyone knows once you hear them. I enjoyed King of Pain and Wrapped Around Your Finger. I wasn’t a fan of songs like Mother, but overall, it’s a solid album that I enjoyed more than I expected.

Everyone has heard Every Breath You Take fifty billion times, so that one part of the album is kind of annoying, but I won't hold it against the album that it had a successful single. The rest of the album is GREAT. The last couple songs drop off, but not offensively, just kind of boring. Mother is a jarring addition in the middle of the album, but I think it could've played out really well if they just moved the order around. Every Breath You Take (the stalker song) into Mother (the oh my god why won't my girlfriends leave me alone song) would've been a good back to back. King of Pain and Synchronicity II really stand out on this album. I'd probably honestly give it a 4.25-4.5 if I could break the stars down further, which is surprising. Usually I hate Sting on the singles.

Never listened to much of the Police except for the hits so was unsure going into this. Every Breath is certainly a mega hit and timeless. What struck me about the rest of the album is how well every part fits together. The bass driven rhythms, stings one of a kind voice, Summers perfect guitar that can almost go unnoticeable at times Copeland holding it all together with sophisticated drumming that he makes sound so simple. Even a song like Mother I hated on the first listen but found myself wanting to go back again. Strong 4 that I’ll be revisiting again and will maybe feel guilty not going higher.

One whacko track, a couple dead spots, and the rest is top shelf stuff.

A few stinkers mixed in with a bunch of bangers. Sometimes, “The Police” sound dated to me, but they’re undeniably great

Actually pretty solid besides the hits. The deeper cuts were way different than I expected from only knowing the hits

Musically such a cool album. Some of the most unique sounds I’ve heard from this decade, blew me away on a couple different tracks….then there’s Sting. I even thought to myself, I’ve heard Sting fuck up an album waaay worse than this- then mother came on. I understand the Sting is the creative drive of this group so you have to take the good with the bad, but wow is the bad real bad.

I was too dismissive at first: 'just another album my parents had 40 years ago.' but I was surprised how well produced the album is, how much attention was put into generating two distinct sounds separated by album sides. Side A more like classic 70s Police: loud high hat, counterculture tin punk. Side B something more progressive and foundational for 80s music, like synth drums and clear plain voice singing. Collectively, the album seems designed to spell the death of disco and I don't know, I think I'll listen again.

Oh yeah this is defining 80s pop rock

ITS MY MOTHER ON THE PHONE

A fractured but wonderful album. This is a band that have mastered the clash between form and content; able to package familial resentment, working class angst, and obsession within the bright wrapper of synths, flowing guitars, and shining vocals. The references to nature and decay add a feeling of permanence to the work, and there is an almost Lovecraftian tilt to some tracks. A feeling of oppression looms over many of the tracks. The dark omniscience of the party in Miss Gradenko, the creature in the Scottish lake, and the voice of Every Breath You Take lend a deep unease to the record. Highlights: Miss Gradenko Synchronicity II Wrapped Around Your Finger

Was für ein Start. Eine meiner ersten Lieblingsbands… Aber dieses Album, hm. Es ist interessant. Geht schon in Richtung Avantgarde. King of Pain ist groß. Tea in the Sahara ein Crooner. Einzig Mother habe ich geskippt - sorry, Andy. Zu schräg.

Better than I remembered!

obviously teh hit singles are great, but the rest of the album is pretty good too.

What a delightful treat. I knew so much off of this, but there were still some hidden gems. Good stuff!

I hope this has the Puff Daddy version of the song and not that STING PIECE OF SHIT. FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK

Yeah pretty good, I like the police, Stewart Copeland is cool, good drummer, made the spyro music I like the cover of the p Diddy song

Some of the best works that the Police are known for, a few okay tracks, and one awful song (Mother). Overall, the good far outweighs the bad. You can hear the changes from earlier albums where they were a true three piece group. On this album, with Sting being the focal point, they lose that cohesion and it’s clearly the swan song of the Police. Favorite songs: Synchronicity I and II, Every Breath You Take, King of Pain, Wrapped Around Your Finger, Murder By Numbers 4⭐️

Carried hard by one particular song but overall a pretty fine record.

Weird album

A fantastic opening 1-2 punch. Probably the best songs on the album. 'Mother' I did enjoy, but I had a moment where it clicked that I was actually listening to something so bizarre and out of place with the rest of the album. Feel as though they gave the guitarist one shot at writing a song and he came up with this and Sting had to include it on the album as it's his only sing writing credit. Must have felt sorry for him or something. Every Breath You Take is obviously a classic, although not my favourite song by The Police. A little too overplayed in my opinion. Still a great tune though. 'Murder By Numbers' has a good groove in the chorus. Almost a bit bluesy. Sting has a great voice and The Police know how to mix pop/rock and a bit of ska/punk/reggae effortlessly.

The Police are amazing and Synchronicity proves it

This album is everything that is good and bad (looking at you Mother) about 80’s music. But I love it nonetheless!

I mean, what a banger. Mother is a weird song, but everything else I can really jam out to. Synchronicity I, Every Breath You Take, King of Pain, Tea in the Sahara, Murder by Numbers all slap. I love the interesting blended sound of reggae and rock that they have on other songs as well, but really shines on this album.

I liked it. Sting has a very unique voice and some decent variety. But what the f was up with that mother song? That was terrible.

goed album hoor every breath you take blijft een stalker nummer, maar wel een goed stalker nummer

creepy, freaky, anxious satirical skewering of 80s domesticity genuinely sounds like easy listening from hell at points "mother" is one of the most deranged songs of its era, genuinely reminiscent of tom waits and the residents super dissonant "synchronicity ii" my favorite police song and one of my all-time favorite songs massive, sprawling, eerie as hell sting is an incredible lyricist and we need to start acknowledging him as such such gorgeous progressions masterful, unforgettable melodies so committed to its dated sound palette it actually still sounds really good so tense in spite of how quiet and mellow it is fucking Dark

two new songs added to playlist :3

Not their best album. The hits are brilliant but there's a lot of padding on that doesn't do it for me.

There are a couple of misfires but otherwise classic

Wtf was mother. Loved the second half of this album.

Was surprised by how much I enjoyed Police! So much funkier and more experimental than just I will be watching you

Nice little surprise. Not generally the biggest Police fan, although Outlandos D’Amour is also a great listen. Very eclectic, almost proggy art pop record with a couple of their biggest hits on it. Still definitely has a bit of that ska vibe on some tracks but a ton of growth and variety to the sound. Syncronicity I and II are probably the standouts for me, very good all around. Interesting that all the singles are on the back half, I like it when a record does this.

01) Synchronicity I - 8,0 02) Walking in Your Footsteps - 8,0 03) O My God - 8,0 04) Mother - 7,0 05) Miss Gradenko - 7,5 06) Synchronicity II - 7,5 07) Every Breath You Take - 10,0 08) King of Pain - 9,0 09) Wrapped Around Your Finger - 10,0 10) Tea in the Sahara - 8,5 11) Murder by Numbers - 8,0 TOTAL: 8,32 (83/100) Current ranking: 78/294

There are some classic tunes on this one, worthy of four stars. Holy cow though - mother? What the heck happened there?

Un par de clásicos pero en general el disco es difícil de escuchar. Pero entiendo que es un gran disco para la época.

Their best...

Wow, I haven't even thought about this album in almost 40 years. Just loaded with hits.

Side two beats side one—“Synchronicity II” and “Every Breath You Take” are the standouts. Crazy that they couldn’t even be in the same room to record; a lot of this feels like it has a suspicious, uncertain scowl on, but then they still delivered those tunes.

Never listened to that all in a row like that. Good album. String of monster tunes tracks 6 thru 10.

Synchronicity + the biggest song of the year (Every Breathe You Take) makes this essential Police

Okay, so I'm putting it out there, every step you take is fucking creepy and I hate it alot, also wth is going on with mother.... But having complained, this is really solid poppy fun, it gets stronger as it goes on

Solid album all the way thru

I enjoyed listening to this again. There are some really good songs on this.

Very cool Standout songs: Walking in your footsteps King of Pain

Side A: 2.5 Side B: 10 It looks like Synchronicity II is the end of side A. I would include that in my rating of side B as well. Stellar collection.

Cult classic album with good songs. I can't say it's my style but it's hard to say that this album isn't deserving to be on this list.

Like the "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" lyrics appearing in "O My God." - nice surprise for me. "Mother" is way too weird. Pretty great overall, especially toward the end, from "Every Breath You Take" on!

I like the Police, but would not consider myself a 'fan'. Nothing really new for me on this album, I knew (and like) all the tracks.

It’s pretty good, obviously the hits are where it shines the most along with other albums by them but I like it quite a bit.

I’m only really familiar with “Every Breath You Take,” and I’ll admit to thinking of it as somewhat unsavory. It’s interesting, though, to listen to the influences of their contemporary exposures to “world music,” and I find the sort of whimsical and childish lyrics of “Walking in Your Footsteps” endearing. It’s a bit like a novelty magnet you’d buy at a natural history museum. The songs are catchy. Hell, “Every Breath You Take” is catchy, if also creepy.

Album embodies 80s swagger. I would’ve been partying like crazy listening to this in the 80s. Awesome album concept.

Half of the songs from this album can still be heard on the radio today. That says a lot about the album and the band. Imagine what they could have done had they not imploded. All of the songs, except Mother, are enjoyable. Great stuff.

A great classic early 80's piece of pop synth. However, IMO, you can hear the begining of the end of The Police in this album (angst of the lyrics and nervous / agressive style). I'm more likely to put in Reggatta de Blanc or Zenyatta Mondatta. In any case, a must have in any 80's vinyl collection along with the entire catalog.

1: fun song. has a nice chorus. enjoy the vocal layering 2: slower. dinosaur line was funny. not quite as good, still 6/10. 3: upbeat. strong saxophone part. 9/10 4: experimental. uneasy and unsettling. 4/10. 5: short but nice. strong instrumentation. catchy. 7/10 6: lead by strong guitar. fantastic chorus. 9/10 7:classic. well constructed song. 8/10 8: didn’t like xylophone sound. otherwise strong. 8.5/10 9: ding was grating. choruses were strong, verses weak. 6/10 10: didn’t develop. boring. 3.5/10 11: song got slightly repetitive. hook is a little annoying. 6/10

Their best

A brilliant second side! Some strange throw away songs that make it seem lost in concept. But it holds up with intensely focused production.

Really liked this one! Lots of fun tracks.

A tad overproduced but the songwriting and the playing is A1 per usual. Love the fucking cops man

I really liked this album, but Mother was a real bummer.

The Police are growing on me. I found Sting annoying when I was a teenager so I don’t think I ever really gave the music a fair shot. So it was always a band I knew from the greatest hits that you would hear on radio. Turns out the music is actually quite good.

Peak police for me. I ruined the song every breath you take for my wife as I told her it’s about a stalker. Title track II is my favorite here.

Few excellent songs, rest average.

Aside from having heard “Every Breath You Take,” I hadn’t ever listened to The Police before. I came out pleasantly surprised by this album, and I genuinely enjoyed: “Mother,” “King of Pain,” “Tea in the Sahara,” and “Murder By Numbers” (assuming your copy includes that bonus track). It’s refreshing to hear Sting actually make use of his bass instead of hiding it away like other acts do, and I think his style of playing generally added an appropriate bright feel to slightly-reggae-influenced New Wave sound the band has here. The album ultimately merits a solid 4/5.

Hadn’t listened to this one all the way through in many, many years. Forgot how good it is.

This was a seminal album of my college days, and the truly great songs on it remain truly great. But I'd forgotten the number of much less successful "filler" songs it includes. In some ways, it might be seen as a fine encapsulation of Sting's career. When he is good, he is so good that he makes you forget how often he could also be just plain mediocre.

7/3/24. The Police were awesome, the songs flowed together really well on this one. Every Breath You Take is a classic, but the other songs carry their own weight very well.

Just a really solid pop/rock/new wave album. What more is there to say?

Very interesting and unique music

They started a wave of imitators. So many memorable songs on here.

i really be between a 3.5-4.0 this album was enjoyable and the 2nd half was great! i loved the variety and liked it more than expected.

Clean listen. Mother was interesting & the rest sounded cool too. Probably worth a less passive listen

Second half of this album is BANGERS

1. 9 2. 7 3. 7 4. 3 5. 6 6. 8 7. 9 8. 6.5 9. 7 10. 7.5 11. 7 7/10 3.5/5

Great album. Synchronicity II is probably my favorite. King of Pain is up there too. Also appreciate the ability to work Brontosaurus into a rhyme scheme

Well oil me up and strap on my winged briefs, it's Feyd Rautha's finest turn.

Though not all numbers on the album are excellent, there are too many that excel way above par. Great listen, classic album, top 100 of all time for certain, though only 4 stars for me... but I am weird!

Another great police album. The energy and bops outweigh the weirder tracks.

The sounds of my teen years

To be honest, when I saw this pop up, I groaned a little: I like the Police, but they get overplayed and so I was expecting this would be a little bit of a slog. To my surprise, and perhaps because it has been so long since I gave them a serious listen, I really enjoyed this. Well, except maybe "Mother". Also, the final song "Murder by Numbers" with it's lightness and tunefulness juxtaposed to the lyrical content really gives The Smiths a run for the title of absurdist. Still though, singer's register is too low.

A memorable album from high school...hadn't listened to it in a long time. Multiple great songs, but a little too uneven for me to call it a great album.

Nearly a 5-star. Mother is the blemish, but it is a major blemish. I get the punk attitude of Mother and letting Andy have one song. But it is so out of place with the rest of the album. Otherwise - Synchronicity Part 2, Walking on the Moon, King of Pain, Every Breath are all crazy good standouts. Peak Police - right before they broke up. Too bad.

Super Duper

Really enjoyed! 8/10

I've always had a soft spot for the Police. Yes, there's the insufferable pseudointellectualism of Sting's songwriting. But Stewart Copeland is one of the great underappreciated drummers in history, and Andy Summers remains a guitar legend. Approaching this album now, it strikes me that Side A is actually the weaker side of the original album, although the title track is arguably the best song on the album. Side B is straight gold -- from Every Breath You Take to Murder By Numbers. Twenty years ago, I'd probably say this was one of the great albums of all time. But the cracks in the band really start to show through. And, of course, the weirdness of Mother breaks up the album in a not-so-positive way. All in all, it's a very good listen with plenty of good tracks. But it's not the perfection I once thought.

I had already heard this one. But its still a good listen

8/10. Some classics here but overall I enjoyed the change in pace throughout. Was fun. The song “Mother” threw me for a loop but other than that, pretty good stuff!

I have mixed feelings about this album. The hits were greatly overplayed when the album came out, and though they are very good songs, I just can’t listen to them more than once a year. Like most albums by the Police, the hits are great, but the other tracks are pretty lame. Unfortunately, the hits on this album aren’t as great as other singles. The best way to listen to the Police is by playing a collection of their greatest hits.

Much better than I remembered or expected it to be. Basically flawless and brilliant songwriting and production.

Much wilder and stranger than I thought. Tight. First time actively listening to Every Breath You Take.

I enjoyed it for the most part, but probably wouldn't listen to it much again.

I took my time listening to this album, first because I haven't had a specific amount of time to listen to music and give it the attention it deserves, second because I really like to listen to albums slowly. I don't listen to most of my favorite albums in my life all at once. I like to process them slowly and patiently. Mostly because this is the first album I've ever listened to by The Police. The Police, for me, is that band that my dad always talked about but never played a song by them. I always had this impression that they were a good band but I never really listened to anything by them. Until this album appeared on my "1001 albums" list. To say that I liked it would be an understatement. I feel that unlike other 80's albums that have appeared on the list (I'm talking about you, a-ha) this really feels like an album worthy of being on this list. There is a certain type of sound that maybe repeats itself in the songs, but not in the way of: "this is a song and album from the 80's." if not in a nice and fun way. It made me have a really good time and I'm sure I'll listen to it again.

Don’t like Mother, like some songs better than others but too many to list

Couple interesting tracks on this but some of the bangers really do hit hard. Goin with a 4, seems like a universal rating.

Love me some Sting.

Yeah, this one is pretty great. With the exception of Mother and Miss Gradenko, every track is a Standout.

I don’t think I ever realized how weird the Police are. Not in the way like, The Residents are weird, but like, there’s a song about dinosaurs on here. There’s actually a weird amount of prehistoric references on this album. Why? And then the song another is just so out of left field. I kinda love it? Honestly the weakest songs are the two most commercially successful ones, I think Wrapped Around your Finger is the worst song in this album by a pretty wide margin, and Every Breath you Take is just kinda meh. But both Synchronicities? Miss Gradenko? Certified bangers, I loved them. The album is let down by its second half, it was so close to a five.

Synchronicity is kind of a weird album. Stephen Thomas Erlewine described it as two EPs, "one filled with first-rate pop, and one an exercise in self-indulgence." I don't wholly agree with the "self-indulgence" label for the first half of the album, at least not in a pejorative sense. But it's true that the album feels disjointed with the first half being fairly experimental and the second packed with absolute bangers. "Every Breath You Take" is a certified classic of modern pop, and "King of Pain" gets better every time I listen to it (and, of course, the older I get). Three stars for the first half, five for the second, four for my rating here.

every breath you take is a banger

The fine line between jazz and pop that makes the album great!

Ya lo he escuchado, me gusta, estoy para otra cosa

I thought I'd heard this album all the way through before, but I definitely didn't remember "Mother," and even though it's not a great song, I don't think that's the point. It broke up the album and added diversity I didn't know this album had. Overall, there are brilliant tracks on the album, even if some are now overplayed

This album was fine, I listened once while getting ready in the morning, nothing really stuck out, nothing disappointed… it was just like the radio, fine…

i like the police a lot but i think often they get a little too pithy for their own good. on this album, i think this ring the most true. like all their music, the musicianship and instrumentation is unreal, but at this point in their career, i feel sting is getting a little too full of himself. don't get me wrong, there are some stone cold classics on this one - 'every breath you take,' 'king of pain,' 'wrapped around your finger,' and 'synchronicity i' are masterpieces, but nothing else on here gets close to them. it's not that the rest of the album is bad, it's just the rest of the album feels very... pretentious at points. i do want to like this album a lot more than i do, but i'm not sure i'm ever going to totally see eye to eye with a lot of people about it.

8/10: A genre that usually isn't a particular interest for me gives me an amazing fun listen with very good tracks. Would listen again

Mother is terrifying Funky slice of nostalgia, really like the album Love king of pain and wrapped around your finger

sting kun hän lopettaa laulun fade out tekniikalla (kaijutinta nappia kaakosta luoteeseen...) intellektuaali kuitenkin kuulemmAs. nUtinto kokemus, ei räjäyttänyt päätä ihan vitun pirstaleiksi mutta silti hyvä tosi hyvä.. kuulostaa myös wibat on kasarityyppusiä, selvästi. mutta nöyttäö että ei ole pakko olla huonoa musiikia koska 80 poppi. hyvä opetys meikäläisellekkin...vähän voisi minäkin miettiä joskus VÄHÄN EDES.. mikä on vikana mussa.. oon iha pimee...vittuku oon pimee... synchronicity I

This is the band of rock I like. Not too much happening but not little. Tbh I am very young and only listen to pop and EDM. But I like this. A good morning to late afternoon album to sit down to listen.

All in all a pretty weird one

Some good tracks with lots of diversity of sounds. Not every track a winner but mostly good nonetheless.

This was an experience. I enjoyed not knowing where the songs were going to go next. When I think 80’s I think this. Would give a 5 but it got really weird for me a times but still very enjoyable

Anyone else feel like A side and B side of this album are like totally different albums? Track 1 side 2 feels like the start of the album proper. And it is wall-to-wall hits. Side 1, by contrast, feels like a collection of B sides? Can't think of another album that is this lopsided in its back half. I think it's kind of a cool move, actually; to bury your hits this deep in the album. Not sure if intentional or even if there's anyone else with this takeaway. Anyway, a very solid album.

Coooool! Love this album. Was an album my dad had when I was a kid growing up, so it was one of the few Music albums I listened to in the Before Music Jacob period. And I think it’s great! I happen to not be in the “I profoundly dislike Sting and everything he does” camp. I am solidly in the “intrigued, pleasantly entertained, sometimes pretty impressed with Sting’s melody and lyrics” camp. Sting seems to really rub some people the wrong way. The fact is that he is one of the Good Songwriters of this period, his writing style is inimitable, somehow worldly and literary and brainiac but never too much, and his melodies are ones that only he can sing. That is a winning combo. I also appreciated how understated and weird the production is on this. Some strange synth / organ / guitar work that I never picked up on before. It’s a fun listen, it’s pretty tight, over before you know it, has some weird antisocial hits. Gotta say I love it! 4/5

A classic. Not my favorite of the Police, but we got some solid bangers

It's a bit wild to me that this album got as popular as it did. It's a rather weird record... "Mother" is a full on freak out, and the title track parts I and II are definitely out there. The album succeeds on the strength of the massive massive massive hits "Every Breath You Take", "Wrapped Around Your Finger" and "King of Pain" though I'd argue that the third is a pretty weird song as well for top 40 radio. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing this record. I think my favorite Police record is "Ghost in the Machine" but the more straightforward "Zenyatta Mondatta" gives it a run for it's money.

Although it lacks some cohesion, see Mother, I would still recommend this album to many for its ability to capture and explore the looser side of music. The ability to take regae and mix it with soft rock. Truly beautiful music. Sting is a strange cat but also writes a mean hook. The 4 song stretch is a thing of beauty and really hits the climax of an otherwise lovely album.

Very different album from Regatta de Blanc. I would say that album was more consistent, but this one had higher highs, including a couple of Police all-timers (Every Breath, King of Pain)

This is kind of THE Police album, huh? How weird that, on the last song of side one, they remembered they were THE POLICE and should probably mess around with some radio hits ... and then just launched into four straight all time classics.

Not the best police album but still well worth a listen

Side 1 is very good, and side 2 is *great*. I’d be very surprised if this wasn’t my favorite album of theirs. 4/5

Second album by The Police that I've thought was pretty great. Who knew?

I lent this album to a girl named Jill who lived across the street. She moved to Hawaii a week later. Never heard from her again. . .

I liked it a lot. I feel like I'm missing some cultural context, but the music is great. Synchronicity II is the best.

I just want to know what Andy Summers was thinking when he wrote Mother.

Didn't care too much for the first four tracks. But the rest of the album was great!

Every Breath You Take, King of Pain, and Wrapped Around My Finger are classic tracks off this album. Sting's vocals are great. Overall this is a good album that can be listened to over and over.

Really cool album - lots of fun, and a really unique sounds that isn't limited to just Sting's voice. Also, sonically, a really great listen - the production on this album is fantastic. Only complaint is a few of the tracks feel a little flat and don't really land with me. But, the standout tracks (both Synchronicitys, O My God, Miss Gradenko, Every Breath You Take, King of Pain, and Wrapped Around Your Finger) are phenomenal.

A couple of the early songs are pure excess and almost dragged this down for me, but once I got through them I was reminded of why I fell in love with this band in the first place.

Pretty timeless tracks on this album, some didn't age super well (lookin at you, Mother) but overall pretty great.

solid album overall, has some less enjoyable moments but better than ''reggatta de blanc''

I can see why this album is included on the list. The Police were a massive new wave and post-punk group in the late 70s and 80s, and their short catalog is considered iconic. Synchronicity, in particular, is stacked with some of their tightest and most poignant songs at their final hour, including the likes of both title tracks, "Walking in Your Footsteps", "Tea in the Sahara", and "Wrapped Around Your Finger". There's a problem though - "Mother" is on the first half of this album, and it is a blight. One of the few songs Sting didn't write, it's a creepy track where Andy Summers frantically sings about how "every girl becomes [his] mother in the end." I understand if Andy felt pressured by his mother growing up, but his struggle does not translate well into a song. If you end up listening to this album, feel free to skip the track; the rest is fine without it.

I've been wondering when/if we would get some Police on here. I can see this one being a bit divisive as The Police can sometimes make me sing along or roll my eyes with their occasional fake reggae. The only song on this album I instantly know I've heard is Every Breath You Take, the sweetest sounding song about a stalker you'll ever hear. A song that has confused many into thinking it is a pretty love song, but at its heart is about stalking someone. It's actually interesting to have achieved this level of confusion in a single song, arguably their greatest hit. Don't get me wrong though... it deserves its status. Catchy, pretty, light, dark all at the same time. So this album isn't that bad! In fact there are two songs that made me say... Wait... This is The Police? The two songs are Mother and Murder by Numbers. What the fuck are these songs? Mother is some weird Pink Floyd/Beatles shit where this screaming voice complains about his mother calling him and all his girlfriends turning into his mother. And then Murder by Numbers describes how to become a famous serial killer. This album has some baggage but it makes it so much better than the standard world pop that it might first seem to be.

When I had a walkman I had this on tape and listened to it a lot

favourite: every breath you take, king of pain, murder by numbers least favourite: walking in your footsteps really chill, vocals are great nothing to complain about mayb 7-8/10

The circle was complete. The angry punk misfits whose vitality and melody of their debut albu just a few short years earlier had turned intov a slick, Corporate, world conquoring monolith. There was nowhere else to go except their own seperate ways. Sting went one way (with all the royalties from Every Breath You Take) on to global knobhead of Bono proportions whilst Andy Sumners (who wrote the perfectly original and most recognisable riff that denotes the song) went the other with nothing. Stewart Copeland fumed and smouldered into avant-garde jazz still hitting his drums as hard as possible. Despite the off-record melodrama, there are fine moments on this record. 'Walking in your Footsteps' is absolutely succint and relevant today when we look at global warming and environmental issues. 'Tea in the Sahara' remains one of the most perfect and getle ditties every put to tape. Even 'Mother' shows how, corporate entities now they were, The Police were stil lable to add some bittersweet humour and innovation to their music. And then there is that hit. The stalker one. That everybody plays at their wedding and Sting pockets a few more gold coins. I guess he gets the last laugh if youstill lthink its a love song.

Great second half. With all the hits. First half has the experimentation which can be a hot or miss depending on the moment. Great album in entirety

Great album

Lovely. Fond memories. Fantastic drums and this is the Police’s best work.

I’ve never listened to this whole album though I have probably heard these songs many times. The second half of the album was better than the first half. I have always liked the police and Sting. They have been sort of genre crossers.

First half of the album is terrible, particularly “mother”. The second half would be an outstanding EP.

Fun and weird!

Side A is okay, but side B is for eternity.

- First listen to this, had Regatta de Blanc earlier - Pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this - Obviously heard Every Breath You Take before, but this reminded me how good of a song it is - Mother is weird but very good

Classic Police. Some great tunes - although I truly don’t understand Mother. Admittedly, this album came out when I was a teenager and was totally overplayed. For the longest time, I could not listen to king of pain as I was so sick and tired of it. Listening to the whole album now, though, you realize what a terrific album it is and how, influential the Police were in their day.

Great! Good songwriting, lyrics and nice guitar sound.

Pretty weird 80's cop show kind of vibe, but I enjoyed it. Some bits were a little corny or just odd, but the musicianship was great.

I almost gave this a 5 but the last few songs weren't as interesting. Up until hearing those I was even thinking that it seemed unlikely I would listen to this album again and yet I thought it deserved a 5. But the last 3 seemed like almost duds.

Only The Police can sing \"every breath you take, I'll be watching you\" and not creep me out. Bravo.

Synchronicity I Synchronicity II Every Breath You Take

Still fantastic! The time signatures are quite varied for the genre.

Not their best, but darn good. 4 stars.

Weird. I went in with super high expectations. The first half of this album blows. Second half is super strong.

Has cool tracks and I like the production. Some stinker tracks. But the good makes it to 4

I’ll be watching you is an all time creepy song, but it along with most of the other songs on this album are catchy as hell.

Wel sterk police album

#9 The Police - Synchronicity (1983) New Wave, Pop Rock Sophisti-Pop, Art Rock That was... not what I was expecting... huh. It's good, mostly, but a lot weirder than I was anticipating, especially in the first half. Side B has a lot more in common with EBYT. Overall a pretty good ending for the Police. Favourite Tracks: Every Breath You Take, Synchronicity II, Miss Gradenko Least Favourite Track: Tea In the Sahara

A favourite for a long time, apart from that one track that's way worser than a ringo one

It's only ok

Lots of Hits

7 for me but the weirder tracks here pull it over to a 4 star. Really cool album save for every breath you take which i personally consider Police's worst song

I liked it.

A lot better than I was expecting from the singles I knew already!

Pretty much good all around, except for Mother, which gave me a chuckle thanks to the vocals.

It’s… probably a really light 4, at least for me. As an entire album, I think it does do a good job of keeping a consistent sound (except for Mother, what the fuck), but something could never fully hook me in to the whole thing. In terms of individual tracks, there are great ones on this album – obviously Every Breath You Take was a massive hit, but King of Pain & Wrapped Around Your Finger are both really, really good songs. I don’t really have a good sense of The Police from before this album, and I have a much better sense of Sting’s solo work in the 90s, but it’s very apparent to me that this is a crowning achievement for both the band and himself, and I do think a lot of these songs have held up incredibly well for being 41 years old. It's honestly way closer to a 3 than a 5 for me, but I'm just satisfied enough to bump it up.

What a great listen. I have never been a fan of The Police or Sting from what I have heard from a distance, but being forced to listen made me realize this is music that demands a little more than just background music to fully appreciate it; though it also works as background music. The songwriting was the star of this album. They tell a story in each song with as little words as possible. I will dive deeper into the catalog someday of The Police and Sting.

Very good album, a couple of out of place feeling songs towards the beginning but the rest of the album is great.

Synchronicity is one of the most successful albums by The Police. The second side contains most of their biggest hits. The first side is... different. As Sting usually wrote all their music, it was the first time Summers and Copeland could include pieces they had written themselves. They knew that Summers' "Mother" would cause trouble, but they did it anyway. It might be one of the most obvious signs that they had grown apart as a group. The second side starts with the most successful Police song "Every Breath You Take". Its lyrics are nowadays seen as a description of a possessive and obsessive partner in a relationship, even as it was perceived as a love song for a long time.

Solid album. Exactly what you think of for The Police.

Not the biggest Police fan, but this is definitely peak and the second half slaps--I wonder if the record company begged them to make the 2nd half the 1st half! There are not many voices as singular as Sting's.

another white boy band okay . (lmao) love how so far the songs are just them repeating the song title over n over. cool mother. lmao oh yall have got to stop reccing me albums that have ONe mega huge famous song on them (kiddinG) love "wrapped around ur finger" nice album.

Synchronicity II goes hard

Some of my favorite Police songs are on here (Mother, Synchronicity II) and their biggest hit by far, but I don't feel the record as a whole is as well rounded as it could have been. Probably due to the infighting as this was their last record

Un album intrigant, sûrement imité, mais très incarné dans son identité particulière. J’aime les changements de ton et d’ambiance qui évitent la surenchère

very good!

They made better albums, but few bands have ever gone out on top quite like The Police did. You can certainly argue that the weak tracks break the flow every time: “Mother” is unlistenable and “Miss Gradenko” sounds like a “Zenyatta Mondays” outtake. But who can argue with the string of radio-ready, chart-topping smashes that the trio delivered in the heart of the MTV era? As the Jungian album title suggests, The Police finally tapped into the vast collective unconscious—in 1983-1984, their music was inescapable. It’s like Sting put every hook he had in him into writing the songs that would turn out to be the most enduring of his career. Sting may be the golden boy, but his support system couldn’t be more god-tier. Summers lays the melodic groundwork, creating the immortal guitar part on “Every Breath You Take” that makes the song; Copland’s drumming is relentlessly inventive with high-hat and snare work unmatched by any of the other pop songs of that era. They’re more than backing players—they have their own voices even as Sting dominates the microphone. It’s easy to forget amid all the popular success of this record, but the band came into this record already hit-makers (5 Top 40 hits), with a reputation as one of the most distinctive trios in Rock. “Synchronicity” simply solidified that reputation. Side Note: “Tea in the Sahara” is the prettiest, most haunting album closer any band ever produced, and it deserves more attention than it gets.

Great record drug down by 1 real stinker.

Good stuff

some solid jams- every breath you take, king of pain, and synchronicity 2. The walk with dinosaurs song is ridiculous. Overall, a pretty good album.

My mom owned this cd when I was a kid, love love love

A study in rhythm with vocals attached. The Police definitely carved out their own sound. I could entirely live without the lyrics to Mother. Overall, the album lyrics are generally interesting, have some excellent phrases and images, and work well but they also have some major weaknesses. The heavy use of an aaaa or aabb rhyme scheme is countered to some extent by the use of partial rhymes and various voice combinations such as throwing in a non-rhyming refrain or the use of a kind of call and response or switching between single and group voices. Tea in the Sahara seems to be a very weak song overall. Murder by Numbers picks up a stronger jazz styling than other songs but the lyrics don't seem to fit in with overall flow of the other songs--it seems out of place. The saddest part about this album is that it doesn't capture the energy of their earlier work. It has a dryness to it that Stings solo works carry on to their detriment.

buiten de singles om staan er best leuke nummers op. En best wel een zwartgallig album eigenlijk. Stalkers, Serie Moordenaars etc etc. O...en een liedje over moeders. :D

Listened to this album while hangry and doing chores, so I'll try not to hold that against it. Honestly, the best songs on this album are some of the best songs ever. Every Breath You Take, Synchronicity II, King of Pain, Wrapped Around Your Finger. There are a couple of misses, though, that actually make it tough to get through the whole album.

I loved this when it came out.

Couple less great tunes but a new wave classic all the same. Parts 1/2 of the title track are classics. So much to love here.

Overall, this album was all over the place. There were tracks I absolutely loved and some that I despise and/or won't ever listen to again. Coming from a place of "greatest hits" for The Police, I am happy to go back there without missing out on much. Synchronicity I/II and O My God are probably the best non-greatest-hits tracks to check out. The strength of those plus the trio pushes this pretty high in overall contribution of the album. Track by track: 1 - Unexpected sound to start. Once the rhythms and vocals come in, it settles in more to the sound I expect from The Police. The up-tempo rhythm along with the drawn out, overlapping vocals create a nice contrast. 2 - Very interesting rhythm-centric track. It feels like an interlude and isn't something I'm super into. 3 - Well this is groovy. Was my favorite song so far but the odd horn solos at the end were a little off-putting. 4 - What the hell is this. Trying not to skip. 5 - Anything would be better than that last "song". This is just OK though. 6 - This has some potential based on the first 20 seconds. This song wavers between being a song I'm really enjoying and a song that is just OK. (edit: second listen and I enjoyed it more) 7 - I don't think I've ever heard this song... ... ... in the context of the full album (gotcha there). It is simply a great song. I don't get too mixed up with lyrics so the creepiness doesn't really detract for me at all. 8 - A banger for sure. The latter half of this album is certainly feeling strong. 9 - Another one that simply rocks. Three bangers in a row. 10 - Almost acapella vocals at times. Quite beautiful. Not necessarily catchy but I can enjoy it. 11 - What is this timing? It feels like there are both 4/4 and 3/4 going at the same time. It is certainly challenging but I'm interested. I think altogether it is a fine track but I wouldn't seek it out. Bonus: I tried listening to Synchronicity I and II back to back to see if there was anything extra there. I don't think there was (that I picked up on) but these are certainly some of the better tracks outside of the trio.

Really good

Never realized just how unhinged Sting was. Between Mother, Every Breath You Take, and Murder by Numbers, you can really paint an interesting picture…

This album has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid… Solid album!

Several classic songs but the filler songs are just crap.

About half this album is hits! Wasn’t really my thing at the time, but I can appreciate the accomplishment now. Still, mostly I picture Sting in the 80’s movie Dune as some creepy boy-toy assassin. Shivers.

Really enjoyed this one. Sting has such an incredible voice and the songs are fun all around to listen to. There are a couple weak tracks but still a very strong record.

ok sting! pop off!

“Mother” is a better song sung by Danzig. Every other song is solid.

Some songs on the first side are clear misses, but side two is pretty perfect. Unpopular opinion: Miss Gradenko is a jam and very underrated.

Synchronicity is among the less acclaimed Police albums and that is rightfully so. It derives very far from prior releases that were rock albums. This is a musical fantasia ripe with world influence and genre blending to an elite degree. I like it, but don't love it.

I hope my friends won't see this rating because they hate The Police.

Классный альбом

Good album

This is an excellent album, I've always loved The Police. There's something about Sting's idiosyncratic vocals that is so compelling to my ears, he has a quality in his voice that is so strange and aberrant but soft and pleasing too. Near perfect. My only negative is the Mother track. It was just creepy and uncomfortable, it didn't fit well with the rest of the tracks. I do wish someone had suggested binning that one and filling it's spot with something more melodic instead. Otherwise, this is peak Police and I live for it.

Has me longing for the days in the admin office of Graduate Studies at KU. This 'tape' got me through days of putting applications in numerical order... thank you The Police.

Even with that still-stalky Every Breath You Take, it's still a really good album, even today.

2 good songs

Good album. Several really good Police tracks on this one.

Don't stand Don't stand Don't stand so close to me

sincronicity.

I always enjoyed this album and enjoyed listing again, it’s been a long time.

some bangers on this one, and some notoriously bad ones. lol. idk. i love the police (the band)

The Police’s final album tones down some of their reggae in favor of a more balanced post-punk mainstream rock approach. It works well for them. Sting’s lyrics as usual are highly literate and obsessive and his vocal delivery is great as always. There are a few songs that fall flat for me though the album is very cohesive and enjoyable.

Now I know who sings some of the songs I like! Just didn't like all of them. Not too bad of an album though.

This is definitely a classic worth belonging in everyone’s collection. There are some timeless songs on here that have been sampled, covered, and redone countless times. The Police were great, what can I say?

Prefer the earlier albums as this is veering towards solo-artist Sting territory. Even so, this has the 'biggie' and a few minor hits and was very well produced and marketed.

Staying true to the rocking roots of The Police, they add a jazzy undertone to many songs on this album. While obviously mired by some overplayed and generally misplaced cuts in the midsection, the strong start and end--as well as some criminally underappreciated tracks sprinkled throughout--Synchronicity is influential, catchy, and most importantly, fun.

Left on a high note.

Notable track: Every Breath You Take // Favorite Track: Synchronicity II

Surprising as I'm only familiar with the singles and enjoyable

Some songs are really good

Some essential police songs in here. Solid filler songs

The Police are an odd group for me. I think they are better than what enjoyment I get from listening to them if that makes any sense. The songs on their albums tend to run hot or cold. This is probably their best album which I think deserves a 4 for content and execution but my overall enjoyment is more like a 3-3.5.

Never really heard much beyond the hits (Every Breath You Take), and like everything else on this album was better. I really liked Sychronicity 1 and King of Pain. Overall good album.

Interessant. Der Mother song war ziemlich psycho. Wenn man nur die single kennt, ist das Album überraschend anders. 3.5

So many great songs - but Mother prevents this from being a five star effort. Yuck.

Pretty good, a few boring tracks

A fun ride, very creative sound. Lots of off beat rhythms done right. I did not enjoy the song Mother though.

feels like I should be obsessed with this. but I’m not!

This album is jam-packed with interesting and varying music, my favorite Police song in "Synchronicity II" and some songs I hated too. Short and sweet, fun, a little disturbing.

Solid album, except for Mother. What on earth were they thinking including that song?

Musically excellent album with a couple of great songs. It stays at the level of appreciation more than excitement though.

The album was brilliant, apart from one song that soured the experience slightly for me. Why did they put out Mother? It's really bad. I almost stopped listening to the album at that point. Luckily, I didn't.

Love the whole album although maybe not my favourite Police album. Had to skip Mother because it just doesn’t feel like it fits in the album. Love the drumming in particular from The Police, it’s syncopated and cool.

The early MTV days. Love the throwback to their early punk days with Andy screeching or “Mother.”

A couple of songs in the first half of the album didn't do it for me, but everything from Synchronicity II onwards is pure gold

Mother is one of the weirdest musical experiences I had. Nice album with some hit songs

Liked the style and the energy

It's one of my favorites albums of all time. It captures the essence of the band

Very zen but wtf is up with Mother? Stand-outs: King of Pain, Synchronicity II

El disco va mejorando a medida que avanzan las canciones.

Gear: DCA ÆON 2 Noire Mische (2003 Remaster): Drums hauen rein, Vocals perfekt, Gitarren schimmern Mugge: treibend, energetisch, unerwartete Instrumentierung (Panflöten und Synths in "Walking in your Footsteps"?!) Wertung: 4/5

Great album

Pretty good album. Interesting in parts. Mother is weird! Never heard that before. Synchronicity II is a jam!

I already liked the popular songs from The Police, but I haven't had the chance to listen to one of their albums in its entirety. Overall, this is a great album and features the cool reggae, jazzy, new wave sound that The Police are known for. This album also contains their hit song "Every Breath You Take", which I love! Favorite Song(s): "Every Breath You Take", "King of Pain", "Synchronicity II"
