Reviews (page 4 of 14)

Quite a good album, although not usually the style I listen to. Very unique sounds, and very disparate sounds across the album (Mother, for example). "Miss Gradenko," "Synchronicity II," and "Every Breath You Take" are my favourites from this one.

Her er dem inne på no. Hva i all verden som skjer med mother veit jeg ikke. Ikke veldig hørbar akkurat den, men det er ganske undeholdende hvor voldsomt han drar på.

Some phenomenal songs on this album. But also some 80s experimental synthesizer nonsense that hasn’t aged well and kept it from being 5 star album for me.

Classic, 4/5

Another nostalgia album that I have listened to regularly since the '80s. Surprisingly, the triple-threat hit list of Every Breath You Take, King of Pain, and Wrapped Around Your Finger is probably my least favorite part of this album, mainly because this songs were played to DEATH on pop radio when this album was new. Sychrnoicity II is easily my favorite Police song and the inspiration for me to start looking at faster and heavier music. I have ALWAYS loved how Summers' Mother takes you completely out of the album (in the best way) and Copeland's Miss Gradenko pulls you right back in (before returning us to the Sting show). It’s not a perfect album, but one I'll always find pretty great.

Previously rated: #588 - Reggatta De Blanc (5/5) ************************************ Album #973 Maybe not quite as strong as Reggatta, but still very solid. Mother is quite wild isn't it? Still, I kinda liked it. I'm tired of Every Breath You Take by now. I think my favorite track is King of Pain. I'm nearly done with the list, but I wouldn't be surprised to see another Police album pop up before it's over. (I don't know the full list.)

Great album, just short of a 5-star rating. I really appreciated Sting's songwriting in this record, re-listening to it was really pleasant. And Stewart Copeland might as well be one of the grooviest drummers of all time. "Mother", though... WTF?

Only listen to EBYT before, and now I’m doubting why EBYT belongs to this album??

I want to like this album a lot. It's got some absolute bangers on it and the signature Police high quality lyrics. The problem for me is that I struggle to be objective because the hits here have just been played into the ground. I would like to come back to this album later. I have a feeling it will be worth a relisten then.

Enjoyed the hit tracks but album tracks just okay. Not sure about Mother. Sounds a bit like Sting compromising and letting someone else “have a go”! Not really for me.

Nice album, needs repeated listening to enjoy fully ánd probably requires skipping track mother

Classic Police, love it. The fillers are also listenable, for once.

3.5 maybe

Good variety. Creative

Obv there's a reason 'Every Breath You Take' has endured, that bass and guitar riff is perfect. V cool bassline on 'Oh My God'. 'Mother' is some weird Man Man shit, but I actually kind of like it. Personally I prefer the Underoath version of 'Wrapped Around Your Finger' but it's still good. Like the vibes of 'Miss Gradenko' and 'Murder by Numbers'.

130 Lo escuché de corrido en un viaje en auto hace una chorrera de años, en un ipod classic. Me gustó la mezcla de canciones más experimentales con las típicas de siempre. Me llamó mucho la atención la letra de Mother y de Murder by numbers.

Love The Police, and I do like this album, but I can't say it's my favourite.

Gets a 4, despite 'mother.' The hits are just too good. 4/5

Good 80s sound

Not sure about this, I'd been a huge fan of Outlandos D'Amour but been disappointed by the 2nd album. I'm very familiar with all the hits on this album and several of the other tracks. In general I dovthink it is a very good album

A bold conceptual album that harbors some of the Police's best individual music like Every Breath You Take and Walking In Your Footsteps makes this a masterpiece slightly tamed by a horrible song such as Mother.

really good, classic

Oh man, this is gonna be hard. I've avoided The Police for so long because I really don't care for reggae. But this opening track reminds me of Genesis and I'm not complaining. The song Mother is wild and very unexpected. Overall, I went into this album with a bad attitude and came out liking it anyway

Pretty cool Standout Tracks: Synchronicity II, Every Breath You Take

Love how recognisably 'them' Synchronicity I is. Really good song. Love the spooky keyboard and playing with timings. Walking In Your Footsteps is okay. O My God is fun. Bit of a Dire Straits sound. Miss Gradenko is also really fun - love the sudden key change on 'Nobody but us in here' and the way the guitar matches the tune exactly. Mother is so INCREDIBLY disturbing so like...not one I want to revisit but it is very well done haha. Synchronicity II - love the menacing guitar in parts - really good song in general. Every Breath You Take is just great like K I C K those lyrics to the side and have a great time pretending to yourself that it's romantic. King of Pain is SO. GOOD. Second best to EBYT on the album. What a find. Walking In Your Footsteps is SO good - real Phil Collins sound to both his voice and the tune too. Tea In The Sahara is realllllly dull. Murder of Numbers is a real interesting divergence in genre but just isn't bangin' enough as an album-ender. It's a pity they didn't swap it out with King of Pain.

I’m a huge fan of the Police and Stewart Copeland in particular. I get the point behind the song Mother, and I like weird shit, but that song is just not good. One of my favorite live performances ever is the Police playing Wrapped Around Your Finger on their reunion tour. If you haven’t seen it you should definitely check it out.

You had me at post-rock

super iconic songs and incredible vibes throughout

I thought I didn't like The Police, mostly because they end their songs with way too much repetition. This album is really cool, it has some very interesting beats, grooves, and some weird and creative arrangements overall. It surprised me and is making me reconsider my position about the band. Will definitely listen to this one again, and will try to listen to their non "mainstream" stuff more since they are very interesting.

Ratings: 5: I will happily play this album anytime 4: I may occasionally play this album of my own free will 3: I will happily listen to this if someone plays it in the background 2: I will tolerate this if it is playing in the background 1: I will leave the room if someone plays this in the background Listen 1: 2 stars Listen 2: 3 stars Listen 3: 4 stars. I think after more listens I'd start dropping it again...

This is definitely a classic. 'Nuff said.

It exists

What I love about this album is that it front-loads all the strange and experimental stuff, so just as you’re thinking, well this is VERY INTERESTING, it pops out the hits like bullets, one after another. Oh, this song? Oh yeah, this song! And this one, yeah! If it were reversed I might have a lower opinion of the record. But I appreciate and miss that old version of Sting who was much closer to the leather-Speedo madman than the soporific tunesmith we have now. Well, Trudy has no complaints.

I'll Be Watching You 1001 Albums Generator 155 (11/05/2025) Although one wouldn't think it by the simple, but extremely high quality megahit Every Breath You Take, Synchronicity is a very strange album. The Police's final effort is also their most acclaimed and it is really a tale of two albums. Outside of the excellent two part title track, side A is super weird and schizophrenic. Walking In Your Footsteps and to a lesser extent Miss Gradenko are very "worldly" and see The Police getting in on the African music craze that would take the pop/rock world by storm in the 80's. The former is extremely silly, with lyrics addressed to Mr. Dinosaur. O My God is pretty forgettable, but Mother is anything but. I can't believe this is the band that gave us Roxanne. Mother is an absolute trip of a song and I can't figure out if I like it. The second half of Synchronicity is nothing but bangers. Every Breath You Take has one of the most iconic guitar arpeggios ever and is beautiful (and creepy). King Of Pain is a great piece of progressive pop which is nearly through-composed with multiple distinct sections. Lovely, underrated tune. Wrapped Around Your Finger is another huge hit which harkens back to the reggae pop of early Police, although it's probably my least favorite on side B. Finally, Tea In The Sahara is really ambient and vibey. It's a pretty way to end the album. The bonus track, Murder By Numbers, is great too, but I won't judge the album based on it. Synchronicity has some rocky moments, but it's a great piece of artsy new wave. 4/5. Favs: Synchronicity I King Of Pain Every Breath You Take Least Fav: Walking In Your Footsteps

Lots of memories with this one. Love the Police.

Classic album with one of the most iconic songs ever made being ‘every breath you take’. The title track is a good upbeat opener. Although only a few songs on here I’d actually listen to. My favourite track is king of pain.

amazingggg album. so much versatility, and i felt very hooked to this because of that..

Cool album, with quite a few monster tracks. 'Mother' seems to get a lot of hate from the comments, but I totally dig it, as much as it stands out from the rest of the album. Think i'll be listening to this one more going forward. 8/10

It's honestly so cool how something as weird as this was able to be one of the biggest albums of the year. *Seventeen* weeks at number one, can you imagine that? The Police have always been a singles band for me, with this one being the only album that I really have a need for as an entire album. Just a really cool-sounding album, even if the start of it makes me think of Encarta Encyclopedia (remember that?) for some reason.

"King of Pain" is their best song. Period. At 5 minutes, it is constantly introducing new sonic layers, new musical ideas, new harmonies until the end. Never overcomplicated, always crystal clear. Depressed existential pain with imagery of death and decay, self-loathing, self-pitying, but endearing and sympathetic rather than sad-sack doldrums. A good album with some great songs, which is an applicable review for all of their releases. That's the conundrum with The Police. With only 5 albums of hits and misses, you could seemingly make due with an essential compilation. However, I looked through a dozen of their compilations while listening to this, and every single one of them has a glaring omission. (Usually lesser-known bangers such as "Bring on the Night" or "Man in the Suitcase") For everyone who has a problem with Sting, may I direct your attention to Stewart fucking Copeland, who's been an incredible influence on video game and film music, and Andy fucking Summers, an incredible guitarist. (His most notable contribution to this album is "Mother", which is abrasive and weird and breaks up the flow of the album, but I think has some interesting musical ideas going on, especially with his guitar. Probably would have been better if it were only 2 minutes and maybe a hidden track at the end rather than a main course.) With only one clunky (clunky, not bad!) song (Mother), their best song (King of Pain) and their biggest radio hit (Every Breath You Take), this album gets a 4. Even though I'd personally rank it just below Zenyattà Mondatta. Standout tracks: King of Pain (GOAT status), Synchronicity I, Miss Gradenko, Synchronicity II, Wrapped Around Your Finger, Murder By Numbers (bonus track on most releases)

Great album has som classic songs in it and it's the police!

I remember my dad bringing this home and us listening to it together. Peak teen memory. Still holds up. But absolutely did not remember the track "Mother". Wildly different than anything else they ever did.

A couple of odd tracks but generally pretty good

liked it more than I thought I would

Myślałam, że nie lubię The Police. Ale jednak lubię. Solid czwóreczka. Will listen to them more

Many awesome tracks but still left meh feeling for some reason.

First album to come up that i have on vinyl. Still not quite a five star album though.

Police put out a catchy yet experimental record, pushing the envelope for mainstream rock and establishing themselves as a household name with this record

It’s a classic! My main problem with the album is that some of Sting’s lyrics can come off as pretentious on some of the tracks. I would imagine that a listener back in 1983 would have to go their set of encyclopedias to look up some of Sting’s references. I’m happy that we have Wikipedia now.

…and once again I have to acknowledge that this process is steeped in personal bias. I can’t listen to this without being transported back to the end of 1983. Which was a good year.

This album has highs and lows. Thankfully the highs far outweigh the lows

nicht wirklich mein Stil, jedoch mit guten Stücken

The only two duds here are “Tea in the Sahara” (which is just blah) and “Mother” (which is an abomination to the ears). Everything else is a fine exercise in pop minimalism. It’s best known for its stalker anthem, which is good no doubt; but the other singles from the album are even better, especially “King Of Pain” which I think is their best ever. The album is by no means a masterpiece but is a notable highlight of the 1980s that still holds up well.

Achtzehntes Album, das ich schon kannte. Es ist so viel besser, als ich es in Erinnerung hatte. Etwas schräg, aber ein Vibe. Habe nicht auf die Lyrics geachtet, also kann ich nichts dazu sagen.

actually liked most of this… hater card revoked

Frequent favorite for me

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this record. I don't like Every Breath You Take and I give or take the other radio hits, but the non-radio tracks were the real stars here. Very good

The hits are hits for a reason. And the deep tracks are unknown for a reason.

Really at a loss for words on this one. It is all over the place. I had heard several of these songs on the radio or in one-off contexts. That almost dilutes them down a little bit. This was the first time I put it on for a full listen in order. It's just completely insane the transitions from a song just THINKIN' ABOUT DINOSAURS to a song from the perspective of someone tortured by the fact that he feels every woman he dates becomes his mother. There's like an inflection point at Synchronicity II where the insanity calms down a little bit and then like every song after that is a well known hit. I'm not a huge Police fan, listening to this didn't really change my mind and I had heard probably 60% of the songs in different contexts but I will definitely be recommending people put this on end-to-end at least once.

high 4

I really enjoyed this. I can't believe this Mother song is by the police. it sounds very modern but also very beefheart.

Much preferred this to Reggatta de Blanc. The first few tracks are a little uneventful but from Synchronicity II onwards there's just a lot of neat tracks. The instrumentation has a nice subtle sheen to it, aged remarkably well for an 80s album. Fave Tracks: Synchronicity II, Tea in the Sahara, Murder by Numbers 4.3/5

some great songs. some odd ones too. They were going for it at least.

Already familiar with this one, but got even better with another listen!

So the first few songs I didn’t love, I had high hopes for synchronicity 1 but it was just meh. But then you get to the meat of the album. Pretty much everything from Mother all the way to Wrapped Around Your Finger was great. All those tracks were solid. I did think the last two tracks were also meh. I’ve never done a deep dive on The Police. I only know the majority of their hit songs and a few others. But this album clearly shows they were a powerhouse. This album contains both major huge hits as well as a few less known gems like Miss Gradenko. Seriously I still need to hear more of their albums in their entirety, but this might be one of my favorites.

I recognised one of the songs! Good stuff. Unique songs.

It's been quite awhile since I've listened to this album. It's much better than I remember!

Final studio album by the police. Maybe the magic was starting to fade. However still a lot of great stuff especially in the second half. Best tracks Every Breath You Take King of Pain Wrapped Around Your Finger

The thing you don't realize about the Police if you have only ever heard the hits is a lot of their shit is pretty weird (complimentary)

Another album with mixed styles. Scores highly in part thanks to the all time classic, Every Breath You Take.

A strong final statement from The Police — sharp playing, ambitious writing, and singles that still hit with nostalgia. “Every Breath You Take” and “King of Pain” hold up beautifully, and the band interplay is as tight as ever. Not quite a five-star record for me — “Mother” feels like a jarring outlier — but as a whole it’s focused, memorable, and a fitting swan song.

A greater sum than the individual pieces

Quite an interesting listening, a great voice that make you wonder how the next song will be Fav songs - Mother, Miss Gradenko, Miss Gradenko 4/5

The Police have such a distinctive sound. Overall, it was a pretty enjoyable album.

Great album with the hits but also some lesser known tracks that are also awesome!

Fun and recognizable. Listened to it in the kitchen with my family. 7/10

I like it. Interesting songs on here. And of course "Every Breath You Take"

I somehow missed this album when it was assigned (must have been Labor Day holiday) and am now listening on December 1. I vividly remember going to the Record Bar at West Town Mall with my mother to get the cassette for Men Without Hats ("Safety Dance!") and while we were there she bought this album on cassette. She later gave it to me and I still have it somewhere, probably the attic. I was never a huge Police fan but did like their MTV hits and later came to appreciate them more as I got older. I wouldn't have guessed it would happen, but when I was able to see them at Bonnaroo in 2007, I actually got really excited for the show. This was my favorite album of theirs. I'd give it a 3.5 but I'm rounding up to 4.

Again, I don't think The Police have one great album from start to finish. And I know this is their best selling album but my first reaction was that side one is fairly pedestrian except for Synchronicity II (expertly done) and Walking in Your Footsteps (a real gem on side one). Admittedly, it got better with multiple listens and I came around to Synchronicity I and O My God, though they have some weird and/or spastic jazzy moments that aren't quite for me. Stewart Copeland's one composition, Miss Gradenko, is similar - some cool moments and other parts just a bit off. Then there's Andy Summers' composition, Mother - just tragic. Sorry but I'll stick with Sting's compositions. Side two keeps it going (after Synchronicity II ends side one) with three massive songs - their biggest hit Every Breath You Take and two other big & worthy hits in King of Pain and Wrapped Around Your Finger. But it ends with the so-so Tea in the Sahara; another one that maybe gets better with more listens but I'm undecided. I don't know if I'm supposed to count the bonus track Murder by Numbers but it wouldn't move the needle much anyway. So, half the album is incredible and the other half is...I'm not sure. Kind of feels like a 3.5, maybe a 4. But not higher.

am i crazy for saying the song i enjoyed the most is Mother? 😆 i am literally LOLing at this song. it’s so out of place and what on earth 😆 took me by surprise. quite enjoyed this album! a solid 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Love the Police, especially Stewart Copeland. Pretty great album start to finish. My only gripe is that it’s not my favorite album by them. Oh well

I wanted to give this 5 stars, but couldn’t pull the trigger simply because of “Mother”. Other than that, a pretty great album. Not without its flaws, but with several of my favorite Police tracks on this album, it needed at least 4.

I really liked this album. Probably because I grew up with my dad playing a bunch of it but still. It’s cool to see the album covers that I never got to see. Plus this is an easy listen. So many classics on here.

I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't this! There's a song about dinosaurs (Walking in your Footsteps), a song about becoming a serial killer (Murder By Numbers), and a truly deranged song about the singer's relationship with his mother (Mother). What a delightfully weird time

Great lyricism. Good new wave in general.

What an interesting album! I knew ,,every breath you take" before and i really like this song, but few other definitely caught my attention. You can't really define this album with one specified vibe i guess. The only thing that is repeating throughout the whole piece is specific voice of the vocalist, which may not be my favourite to listen but it is indeed pleasant. I have to say I like this pretty diverse album with 80's screaming through every note.

Starting to think this guy doesn’t like his mom!! Cool album, unique sound, diverse track list. If you skip Mother this is probably a 5. Miss Gradenko, Wrapped Around Your Finger, Tea In The Sahara, all surprising winners.

This is a 3 "I liked it" brought up by "Every Breath You Take" which is one of the best songs of all time. Immediately following that with "King of Pain" and "Wrapped Around your Finger", which also appear on the Police's Greatest Hits album, is a great run. "Mother" is awful and completely out of place here - leaves the album feeling disjointed and not very "synchronous." The rest of it is there, being Police-y

The Police's answer to Who's Next, or maybe those 80's King Crimson albums. The big ballad hits on side two sound out of place vs the weirder frenetic songs. The Breath/Pain/Finger adult contemporary block floats like a marshmallow in a gas tank.

I ignored this band in their heyday because they were so popular but actually this is pretty good.

Really do think the hit is thé worst song on this (as usual), mother is an insane cut, O my god is my fav I think tho.

Bastante interesante 3.5/5

thoughts: another album where the hit songs are very strong and the others are…fine? both title tracks are absolutely brilliant to me but ehhh, that run from “o my god” through “miss gradenko” isn’t doing it for me. the strong definitely outweighs the weak here, though. songs: “synchronicity I”, “synchronicity II”, “king of pain” rating: 7.5/10

i have this on vinyl hehe and its a picture one too. pretty good overall and original sound, “mother” is kinda interesting..

A few great songs and an amazing style. Like a lot of albums on this list, a star was lost for there being those few filler songs they are just not too pleasant to sit through

I love the Police, can't give this one a 5 because of Mother though, strong 4

8/10 Favorites: Every Breath You Take King Of Pain Murder By Numbers Wrapped Around Your Finger

Might as well put me in handcuffs because I sure do love The Police!!!!!

Good album.

Standouts Synchronicity I Synchronicity II Every Breath You Take King of Pain Wrapped Around Your Finger

Mr bungle mixed with radio clasics

I do like the police. King of Pain is a banger. Overall the album is a little slow for my taste, definitely easy listening. Except the song Mother, that one SUCKS

Man, The Police have a lot more tunes that regularly get radio plays and make playlists to this day than I realized. I mean, fucking hell...that one tune is called Synchronicity II!?!? Who knew, man. This was one of my favorite albums so far. Not that it was perfect (what the hell is going on with the song "Mother"?) but it's got a fantastic sound, super tight playing, and a number of beautifully catchy tunes. I feel like absolutely nobody sounded like these dudes when this dropped in '83. I'm not sure anyone sounds like these dudes at all.

The 5th and in my mind, the best, album from The Police.

Police’s Pepper like album. Not Sgt. but patrolman like. Good 80s album.

Another one from the record collection. My copy is used and sounds pretty bad, previous owner must have played the shit out of it in the 80s. Starts with a bang on the title track, absolutely rips. I think Sting is in pretty top form on this one but the other guys bring it down. I just can't in good conscience give 5 stars to an album with Mother on it, that song is so bad. If this wasnt their last album Andy Summers shouldve been kicked out of the band for that monstrosity. Also maybe its just because I've heard it so much, but I think Every Breath you Take is overrated. On the other hand, this has some of their best, absolutely love King of Pain, both Synchronicity I and II, and the dub sound of Wrapped Around Your Finger. I prefer Zenyatta Mondatta but this is still a great one

Mother really is as bad as everyone is saying it is. This album is pretentious, which shouldn't be surprising with Sting involved. I can separate the artist from the person with him, though. First half - 2.5 - Synchronicity (both of them) are good, the rest are ok to terrible Second half - 4.5 - Every Breath You Take is one of the best songs of the 80s (and creepy). Tea in the Sahara and Murder by Numbers are great too. 3.5, and I'll round up because the highs are a bit higher than the lows are low.

rare example of an album being back loaded rather than front loaded

Great album

Well I really like this, I like every song though some are better than others, I wish there was a 4.5 purely just for this. Walking In Your Footsteps is underrated and Synchronicity II is the best track on here.

8/10…80‘s new wave

May result weird to non-accustomed listeners, some songs sound overly prog and/or experimental. However, contains some all-time classics, which makes it a balanced and entertained album! 4/5

The b-side is a solid 5; but the a-side is a 3 (brought down by the bad trip song about mother).

Solid, the mother song is strange as hell

Oh this is Weiiiiird, i never thought the police would sound like this in a full album listen, i really liked this

really good, solid album. Fave song: Every Breath You Take Honorable mentions: synchronicity 1 and 2

Start was wonky but ended it strong. Favourite Song: Every Breath You Take Honourable Mention: Murder by Numbers

One of those rare albums where the back half makes it special...not the front.

chill album better than yesterdays

75/100. Synchronicity by The Police is a good album, though a bit rough around the edges. For me, it boils down to three great songs, while the rest are just good but not outstanding. It feels somewhat disappointing, as it had the potential to be much better. That said, it’s still a solid New Wave album with its moments of brilliance.

Y'know what, I liked some of the weird shit in here. Even if I wouldn't listen to it regularly, I kinda enjoyed Mother just being out there. I like stuff like the Synchronicity tracks more than I liked every breath you take. Not everything's that interesting, but neat album!

Great stuff! Punchy new wave with an abundance of great basslines. Exactly what I expect from early 80s stuff.

Wow, Andy Summers has serious mommy issues. What a blemish on an otherwise inoffensive album.

I love Stewart Copeland, he really saves it Will I listen to again: 89%

I did question the cohesion between tracks particularly after the whiplash I sustained listening to the trauma dumping ‘Mother’, straight into the jovial ‘Miss Grandenko’. But all is absolutely forgiven when every track is that good. Nicely wrapped up by, in my opinion, the best track on the album ‘Murder by numbers’.

what id we put Sting in a lake

ACAB includes sting, Copeland, and the other one.

Amazing songs, amazing lyrics and beats that transcend time. This is a timeless record.

This is a fantastic album.

Such a great album, with no real duds. I even like Mother, haha.

The penultimate album from the Police. There are some real gems here, but a few duds that keep it from 5 stars. Synchronicity II, Every Breach You Take, Tea in the Sahara and King of Pain were all stellar tracks. Not sure why Mother ever got recorded.

This album sounds great. Peak 80's recording practice - all the sounds are clearly defined, given their full EQ and spread about the place. Their angular, tight, staccato playing helps accentuate these little dollops of sound all about the place. Mother is a hard listen. The second half is pretty strong; some cracking tunes on there and no duds. If you can't get on board with Sting as a general concept, or simply just his voice, you'll struggle - he's everywhere on here (except Mother!).

A bit too disjointed but some great songs nonetheless

Good not my style really

7/10 kinda feels pointless, but I guess there’s some alright stuff here occasionally

I think that this is a really good album but is kind of good on accident if that makes sense

#23 Synchronicity ~ The Police Easily their most popular, ambitious and best album from the punk band that seemed posed to take the world, but vaporised at the height of their fame. After 1980, members Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland did not like each other, having proved their mettle by themselves in other side projects, and feeling snuffed out by one another. Synchronicity was thus a desperate attempt to reel these 3 differing egos into one album: Sting's funky, pining sex-addicted lyrics, Summer's more new-wave/prog rock indebted guitar work and the conservative jazz drumming of Copeland. As expected from such an idea, each song stands out in its own way, from the whirling polyrhythm of Synchronicity I and the gamelan soundscape of Walking in Your Footsteps to the howling, demented Captain Beefheart-esque vocals in Mother, the balladry of Every Breath You Take, and the more traditional pop rock of King Of Pain and faux-reggae of Wrapped Around Your Finger. This is a more accessible Talking Heads, a hippier Peter Gabriel, or even 1980s King Crimson gone pop The main concern for having such eclectic influences, as with a lot of albums is consistency. Sure you don't want an album sounding the same throughout, else the whole thing is a slog, but each song is distinctly different that to listen to the album as a whole can feel jarring. It's particularly why people have mixed feelings with Side 1 of this album, where it feels like you are whiplashed between songs, made most obvious with Mother. This makes Side 1 feel forgettable, even though the songs as individual pieces cannot be considered faultable. It's also why Side 2 is so memorable, at least you can easily follow each song one by one without a whiplash. The Police are a band that have fallen into 'popular = bad' to music hippies and nerds. Perhaps this is partially valid for their early faux-reggae work, but Synchronicity is a damn good record, foreshadowing an element of the sounds of the 80s, balancing a freedom of experimentation and expression with a populist sheen. Verdict: A swan song for sex-driven ego.

Really nostalgic for me as one of my first memories of my mom sharing music with me, mother was just as bad then as well lol. But the rest of the album is pretty dang solid even with all the nostalgia.

I haven’t really listened to this entire album since the 80s, when it spent a lot of time in my Walkman, and I enjoyed listening again - particularly Tea in the Sahara and Murder by Numbers, which I had totally forgotten. A word about ‘Mother’: I remembered this Andy Summers tune, mentioned often in other reviews here, as a crummy song that I usually fast forwarded over. But when I listened today, it struck me as hilarious - like William Shatner covering Mr. Tambourine Man. The lyrics, the maniacal singing style and deranged laughing, the various ways he growls or squeaks “mother,” the accent he uses on the lyric “let this poor boy be,” all set against music that makes me picture his mother as an evil belly dancer - unintentional (I think) comedy gold.

I own this....on cassette. Yes, I am old. This album would flirt with 5, but Mother is so bad, it disqualifies it from such an honor. In fact, Mother is so bad, I considered bringing it down to a 3. But in the era of digital music, I can skip it easy enough and pretend it doesn't exist. So 4 it is.

They were really cooking on mother

1. Synchronicity I - 9 What. A. Sound! You're greeted with an amazing array of sound before taking the dive into the track with some amazingly written lyrics. Reminds me of Ian Brown - F.E.A.R. the way it's very short and purposed rhyming but much like in that it works very well. Slightly repetitive in the ending but overall an amazing opening track. 2. Walking In Your Footsteps - 6 Way more repetitive track both lyrically and instrumentally. The verses are what really shines here on just how good they are but the rest of the track leaves a lot to be desired. 3. O My God - 7 Fun track. Lyrically it's pretty average but it's an absolute exploration of sound and part of what made The Police a fun band. The sax in the end to close the song out sounds very enjoyable. 4. Mother - 2 Vocally it's a completely different tone and it sounds absolutely awful. Lyrically the track is just absolutely awful in both the writing and the execution. Instrumentally it's okay but there's not a lot of degrees of separation from the monotonous, making the track overall a pretty bad experience. 5. Miss Gradenko - 6 Interesting track. I can't say it's any masterpiece or even excellent in its composition but I can't say it's a terrible listen either. Just a very strange track with a decent guitar and bass that are the two highlights of the piece. 6. Synchronicity II - 9 Another great sound. Lyrics are vocally a brilliant range and the change in octave and pitch between choruses, verses, and even the lines within is exemplary. Guitars sound absolutely awesome on this track and fade in and out in tensity to match the wide vocal range. Just a brilliant piece. 7. Every Breath You Take - 10 Masterpiece of a track. Guitars and drums lead in a great melody with some of the best lyrics on the whole album. There's a reason this track has stood the test of time, and you pick up on that immediately when listening to it. 8. King of Pain - 8 Solid track. Takes a minute to build into it but the choruses are met with a great guitar sound and the verses move along with a great complimenting bass line. Bridge contains some unique sounds as well that wonderfully add to the track. 9. Wrapped Around Your Finger - 10 Great track. The build into the crescendo is incredible. The fade out is perfect. The lyrics are absolutely awesome to sing along to. This is just an incredibly fun, slower track on the album. 10. Tea in the Sahara - 8 Great slower track. Bass provides such a huge foundation for the song. Vocally this sounds amazing as well. Very enjoyable. 11. Murder By Numbers - 10 Fantastic track! The sound is amazing and lyrically the song is incredibly strong. The vocal range between the lowest point at the start of the track to the heights of the chorus is absolutely stunning. By far and away the best track on the album. Absolutely stunning. Average Rating: 7.73 Adjusted to a 5-Point Scale: 3.86 Rounded Up: 4 Stars

Loved this one growing up in 80s

My goodness this is a patchy album. There are some great songs on this album (Synchronicity II, King of Pain, Every Breath You Take), but some of the other music just goes straight through to the keeper for me. You can hear the quality of the musicians, but songs like Mother just suck the life out of the album.

great album. i love the police! “mother” was really unlike a lot of their other music i found. fun 7/4 time signature as well. i found murder by numbers has fiona apple cadence.

Great album. Such a classic. Can't believe I never listened to it before!

This is a crazy great album. My favorite track on it is Murder by Numbers. I also loved Oh My God. The references to other songs is classic. Every Breath You Take and Wrapped Around Your Finger a re classics. Mother is a skipper. I’ve never liked that song at all. Synchronicity sort of makes me nervous. The tempo is too much. I never knew what they were saying in Tea in the Sahara, but it never mattered. I love this song. I love Stewart Copeland’s drumming. It’s just so forward on the tracks and I love the ska beats on a lot of songs. I’m torn between a four and a five I would give it a 4.5 if I could give halves there’s just a couple tracks that I don’t care for and I really like some of the older Police albums better, so I think I’ll stick with the four.

kad sting nije bio đibo ili đibo sting

Meni možda najbolja policija

4/5 for every breath you take

Leaning more to 4.5

Interesting album. Definitely belongs in the list.

Solid album with an extra good second half.

Shane was a true Irish poet. This album is solid and a great example of their music RIP Shane

The Police always remind me of an exceptionally well made watch. They're disturbingly precise and brilliant and yet I can only find them so interesting. It almost feels too polished. It's not soulless at all. This is the polish of craftsmen who care so deeply about their work that they accept no imperfections. But I like the grit and the edges of a rock band. I'm not really looking for porcelain. So that leaves me with this album both feeling phenomenal and underwhelming. It doesn't help that it took three attempts before I could get an uninterrupted 45 minutes to listen to it. Of the tracks, Every Breath You Take and King Of Pain where ones I knew and loved going in. Synchronicity I and Walking In Your Footsteps were both highlights for me as well as Murder by Numbers as the closer. The rest were good even if Mother felt like an outlier. All around amazing album that I just don't connect with as much as I'd like. Looking forward to more of The Police later.

5/5. So many classics, hard to deny. Great vocals, love the literary lyrics.

Lots of bangers and an overall solid vibe. I liked how the music was dynamic and constantly renewing itself. I liked O my god most.

Mother is weirder than I expected, but I liked this album. King of Pain might be my favorite on here.

Sorry, didn't listen but I have this album on vinyl so adding it to my next Sunday listen

This was better than I expected it to be. The first 3 songs are pretty unique and then you get potentially the worst song of all time in Mother, followed by a few more classic and well known hits (Every Breath You Take, Wrapped Around Your Finger, etc.). Have to drop a star for Mother but was pleasantly surprised by this one. 7.5/10 (3.75/5)

Good Shit.

I started this album like “waow, why don’t I listen to more of the police??” And then the song “mother” came up and I was like ah and then the rest of the album was normal? I’ll call this a 3.5 rounded up

So ‘Mother’ was a bit of a weird fit into the album, but otherwise there weren’t any songs I was dying to skip. Felt like a very solid collection of Police songs, and you can hear how tight of a group they were. I imagine I’d have loved the album if I hadn’t heard every breath you take a hundred times already. Most of it was new to me and it was all pretty enjoyable. Will probably listen again. Solid 3.75 for me. Favorite track: Tea in the Sahara

Overrated but there are some tunes in it

Even though I have all of the Police’s albums, they still remain a greatest hits band for me. I just feel in general, their hits are really great and the other songs are much lesser. The second half of this album is much better than the first half but unfortunately the last couple songs show where Sting was going. Adult contemporary isn’t my thing. I prefer their earlier works that were more edgy even if they were still a mixed bag. But the hits are still great so I can’t go below a 4.

This is far from a perfect album, and like many Police albums some of the song choices seem to be determined by band politics rather than because of cohesiveness. Still, this is a solid album, and worthy of a listen.

Good. Elevated by Every Breath You Take and Murder By Numbers.

quirky but interesting

Solid album, a couple of fillers but mostly good / great tracks.

It’s The Police lol of course it’s amazing

The guy who "roasted" this album in his review made me cringe so hard. Favorite track: Wrapped Around Your Finger 3.5/5

So absolutely classic bangers, incredible songwriting. Then it devolves into Sting’s noodling, Dream of the Blue Turtles songs.

Filler at the front. Bangers at the back. Wish more albums were structured this way.

Very weak first half saved by strong second half. Some bangers later on but come on now what was that mother song. Specific rating - 3.7 Fav song- every breath you take/ murder by numbers Least fav- mother

Hit after hit. Often complex, and sometimes so simple.

I love The Police, but the criticism that they are more of a singles band and that their albums are replete with filler is valid. There are also some elements, like the white reggae and Sting's self-importance, that can get cloying. But man what a tight, talented band with a gifted songwriter in Sting. Synchronicity is when they just began to jump the shark, and it's probably fortunate they broke up shortly thereafter. That said, there's plenty here to like - highlighted by Synchronicity II and a slew of hits. Not quite a 5-star record, but a damn fine one.

Great. Completely different vibe than Regatta de Blanc. More jazz/fusion. The reason it’s not 5 star is, Sting is the singer. I don’t like his voice. Favorite song: wrapped around your finger

Love this album. Only clunker is “Mother” which didn’t get any better since 1983. Every other song is classic Police.

A lot more experimental than I remembered it. Second half is really solid, but it’s the first that sets the stage. How ‘bout that for pretentious? Anyways, not a bad track. Not even “Mother”. I didn’t love it, but it was reminiscent of early Pink Floyd, so I’ll give it a pass for going truly balls to the fucking wall. I get the feeling that this is one of those albums that I’ll enjoy more with each re-listen. Enjoyed it immensely. 4/5

Perfect 5/5 album. Except minus 1 point for Mother.

I'm not a huge fan of The Police, but this album exudes an extremely magnetic creativity that makes you want to listen to more and more of it. Plus, "Every Breath You Take" is one of the most incredible songs ever written. It's not perfect, but it deserves 4 stars.

Have to say that going from Bitches Brew to this is a jarring experience -- I had to stop and put some space in between to cleanse my palate. The fuck is Mother? So very out of character -- this sounds like Primus. Ngl I'm kind of into the oddballness of this. Absolutely love Synchronicity II. Wonderful centerpiece of the album. Every Breath You Take -- the original stalker anthem -- is a fine song. Deeply rooted in an 80s sound, it is somehow simultaneously timeless. King of Pain is another standout on here. Last two tracks were both fantastic -- the loose lounge jazz feel of Murder By Numbers was a nice note to end on. Solid 4 / 5 for me. No skips and the back half was stronger than the front by a hair.

The back half of this album was so much better than the first half. Especially after Mother, which may be one of the worst songs I have ever heard. Synchronicity II is an all time song. King of Pain I have heard many times before but didn't know the name, sneaky great song. Wrapped Around your Fingers is just a bop as well. Police sure do have a really unique sound with the synth and guitar that is awesome when done right. One of those rare albums that started at a 2 but made its way into low 4 territory.

i like this more than you’d expect of me. pretty good stuff, not anything crazy but still pretty fun

It's a bit inconsistent in the first half (particularly since the song Mother is in there), the hits are all amazing though and some pretty good album tracks as well

Great Piece

Lots to love here! But a few missteps stop this from taking the top spot in the Police discography. Sting and the boys were pushing their sound in an interesting direction for their closing act, but what in God’s name were they thinking on Mother. Sure it harkens back to their punkier early outings, but it doesn’t belong here and it sounds awful. I have to give a special shout out to, Stewart Copeland (of Spyro fame), for his talents all throughout the album - especially on the opening, Synchronicity. His style is utterly unique, and he truly sets himself apart from rocks great drummers. I like a lot of these tracks, but I don’t love them. All that said, this squeaks by with a 4/5 on style and the replay value of these tunes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A flippin' great album. Inventive and catchy. "Breath" has been over-played so has become tedious background music by now, and "Mother" is basically rubbish, but can be skipped. The rest - excellent.

Loved it

cool little album with different twists and turns but not that page turner that other top placers have been

daleko najslabiji album grupe. neke bezveznije stvari, sve više popasto, iako više nego slušljiv, dobar. tekstovi više krindž nego prije. najdraže: mother, king of pain, wrapped around your finger

Bass-driven, almost 2-Tone driven synthy rock. I like it, a lot. Even the slower songs, even though somewhat cheesy, are impressive. Great sound! 'Mother' is WEIRD, but I'll take it.

An album that's very new to me. Felt fresh. Enjoyed the listen.

4 at least

This is a good album on it's own. But as a pretty big Police album, I can't help but rank it against other Police albums I've heard (Regatta, the debut). The latter mentioned are brilliant, and much better than Synchronicity. Many would disagree with that, because those two albums are much rawer. Synchronicity is better produced, more varied musically (different styles), and arguably more experimental. It ticks a lot of boxes for me, but I just don't like a lot of the songs THAT much. However, it's still very good, so gets my 4 stars.

very very good, another classic by STING and THE POLICE!

Not bad, really

Here's one I've listened to many many times in my youth. Honestly, I'd have to say it's my least favorite of Police albums, but that's not saying it's bad. Just not a good as their previous efforts. Favs: both title tracks, "Oh My God", "Tea in the Sahara", "Murder by Numbers" Worst (by far): "Mother" Liked "Walking In Your Footsteps" back in the day, but today, lyrics are clunky and heavy handed. Music is still good, though.

This was a fantastic album. Each song was vibrant and unique and really enjoyable. The diversity in sound within the album (going from Mother to Miss Gradenko - hell yeah), but also the quality of what has been put together was fantastic. IMO the weakest song was Every Breath You Take - I grabbed all songs except that one. I really like Synchroncity I and Mother, and Murder By Numbers is really catchy. 4.5/5 stars.

The Police just have a really intriguing blend of great musicality, unique influences, and corny songwriting. It’s like the other two things are good enough to get you past the corniness, but not too far past it. Still, this album has some really great tunes (shout out “King of Pain”) and I’d call it a must-listen #129.

Some of its nice, some of it is not nice, or kinda bad. Though for every breath you take, I'd probably rate it a 4/5. Ok just listened to King of Pain and it made it so much better. Wrapped around your finger seems great too. Ok it gets so much better starting at every breath you take.

Forgot that the Police were once young

All right

I really enjoyed this. Very consistent. Lots of great songs. Production is real nice. A pleasant surprise.

I've always really liked The Police, so though I'm not sure any of this album is groundbreaking, I can tell you I enjoyed quite a bit of it. King of Pain and Wrapped Around Your Finger are absolute bangers. No one stalks people like Sting either "Every Breath You Take" but geez Mother threw me for a loop. I was sure for a second that Spotify was serving me an entirely different band/album.

Good Album. I like Stings Voice. I hope he never tries to take over Arrakis.

A great and flawed band and same for the album

my twin's favourite artist, so no matter what i say apart from "this is the best thing ever i love every song wow" will get me flammed. solid album tho he kinda has taste...

Some easy listening on this Monday morning. Favorite Songs: O My God / Every Breath You Take

8/10 Hell yeah sting. Nice morning album for the day. Sting should never have left but so it goes. Favorite Song: Every Breath You Take

Great album! I liked both parts of Synchronicity; I liked the smooth jazz vibe of Murder by Numbers; I liked King of Pain enough to add it to the playlist; Every Breath You Take <3; the only song I didn't like here was Mother--it was weird and rowdy.

My much older brother absolutely loved The Police, so heard a lot of this growing up. It's definitely good, with that early-80s post-pink, hint of reggae, smattering of electronica vibe. But somehow it also (still) feels like it's trying to hard. Aside from the title tracks, it's strangely lacking in heart - probably because they hated being anywhere near each other by this point ("can we just get this finished now please")

Great album, definitely has some highlights but overall felt like it dragged on.

Is anybody alive in here?

I never realized how goofy The Police are. It's great

I was never a huge fan of the police. I didn’t really realize that this was their last studio album either. I don’t think I’ve ever listened to this album all the way through. I was familiar with the hits of course. There’s just something about them that never really appeal to me

Every Breath You Take, King of Pain, Wrapped Around Your Finger were stand out tracks. Mostly chill to listen to. Some tracks were noisy.

absolute classic

Classic, dynamic album with some exceptional musicianship.

I hadn't listened to this album all the way through before, and I'm glad I finally did. Every song on here had something to offer and a reason to exist. There were many songs on this album that were new to me and I have now saved to my library. It is easy to see why this album made the police the biggest band in the world and why there influence is still felt today

Despite "Every Breath You Take" being one of the greatest musical crimes ever committed to tape, I went into this prepared to give it a five. Then I heard "Mother" and that was that. Great album, though. 4

Great album but not my Police favourite

Lots of diversity in this album. All songs have a different vibe but it still feels like a cohesive album. Copeland’s snare is so powerful, love the guitar tone throughout, and Sting’s baselines are great. Overall great album

Honestly, I don't think I've ever listened to a Police album front to back. Just never really stuck to me...at the time. That being said - super fun record. I think I knew about half of this record without actually knowing it was on the same album. So i guess that says a lot about them. I always wanted to get into 'new wave' but never fully dipped my toe in it. I've dabbled with some Iggy over the years - some Police - maybe some Duran and Talking Heads. I don't want to say i've missed out - because I really do love my taste in music(as one should). BUT - this was really cool and I owe Sting and co. a bit more love and respect and dive deeper into the catalog. I THINK this is their top record but i'd have to look around a bit more to confirm. Will circle back....one day!

the songs go back and forth from being pop hits to being very experimental (mostly in a good way, though). i can vibe with all the songs, though. fav song: synchronicity II

Started off strange but followed through with some big hits!

All great tracks with the exception of Mother...that was weird. Sting's gotta great voice, and I've always liked the band's drumming style. 4 stars.

Great album. Side two is a little stronger but side one is still awesome on its own.

What more can be said about this classic gem of an album? There were some missteps (wtf Mother?) but overall, this is an excellent album and I enjoyed it very much.

Listened before fav tracks: Synchronicity II, O My God, Miss Gradenko

i liked it 👍

It does help Every Breath You Take is a favourite of mine, and although the rest of the album doesn't live up to it (which would be pretty hard) it was pretty chill with some good ones on there. I enjoyed it.

I wore out the cassette tape I had this album on back in the 80s—it was not my favorite Police Album, but I listened to it a lot. I guess I will have to give this one a 4/5 (4.4 - it is better than a four, but I am saving my 5s) Mother is as bad as I remember but every other song is enjoyable

Side two = near perfection.

I love The Police but this is never the record I reach for. I'm actually not sure I have ever heard this. It is very good though, although it does have the usual Police misses such as Mother. As it's new to me it doesn't feel like a 5 yet - maybe I should fully explore their catalogue though. I appreciated the more straightforward pop rock approach here though.

One of my shakier 4’s, but there’s enough convincing material here to put it over that edge. That is especially true about the record’s absolutely loaded back-half. This is the best Police album with highlights showcasing every side of the band’s strengths. Their writing is on a collectively higher level than before and the sonics are excellent here. The two-part title track is so cool, definitely one of the songs that put me on to the band long ago. The first half of this record is, frankly however, not great. I’m not into the dinosaur track that much and Mother is better left untouched in this review. Overall though,.. put Synchronicity on the list of essential 80’s records and start the album over again because that Tea In The Sahara melody which brings the album to a close is so damn good.

I listened to it twice. It sounded much better the second time. I’d never to listened to a whole Police album before. I don’t expect to listening to it much in the future.

A product of its time but also timeless especially every breath you take, king of pain and wrapped around your finger. Not every song is a home run but Sting is amazing so there’s that.

Solid through and through! Always been a fan of The Police and it's between this and Zenyatta Mondatta for their best album.

Uneven but a bunch of great songs.

The Police wrote two classic records. Then they wrote a just-fine record, freaked out, and decided to do the best possible version of a few genres, before they let Sting loose to turn the second side into a greatest hits package. The second half of this record is a top-10 all time effort, so good, it saves the absolute mess that is the first half. Let’s do some reggae! Let’s make an incoherent mess of an art house track! Isn’t the The Police in a shellnut? An excellent bad capable of so much, and yet also less than it could be, and much much less than what people think it is. But it’s unfair to downgrade them because a bad opinion has become an accepted truth. If Sting doesn’t act like Sting and go to Goldeneye and belch out Every Breath You Take, the Police are remembered as a nice band, but he did, so they’re all rock gods. Go do one good thing, people. That’s all it takes.

Really solid album, I actually really like Every Move You Make

I love this album. Synchronicity II is my favorite Police song. This album has a great flow and order and lives up to its name

4.5/5 Interesting, creative, fun and overall an enjoyable experience. -0.5 for Every Breath You Take romanticizing deeply unhealthy relationships.

I liked 4 or so songs, gotta love every breath you take. Stalker representation in music!!!!!

I love the sound of the opening track

Great songs

Holds up, great album

Fyrri hlutinn ekkert sérstakur. Mother lagið meira að segja drep pirrandi. Seinni hliðin mun betri og mjög góð. Solo ferill Sting hafinn var mér sagt. 3.5

B hliðin fullkomin en A hliðin gloppótt. Ekki besta plata Police. Frábær trommuleikur Copeland fær ekki að njóta sín á þessari plötu eins og á fyrstu plötunum.

I’ve always had a fondness for The Police.

Enjoyed it, wasn't what I thought the police sounded like

A guilty pleasure. Possibly the most pretentious #1 album of all-time? The last track, Murder By Numbers sounds like a line in the studio one take wonder that back in the day few people knew about because it was only on the cassette version. That was back when record companies had so much power that they'd f*** with you on format to get you to buy the record on tape and on CD and on record. Aholes. Anyway, great tune that showcases their chops.

Although I still prefer "Reggatta de Blanc" to this album, I'm glad that there are two Police albums in this collection. It's kind of a sad album to have in this collection, of course, since Sting was so clearly already out the door (despite the massive success the band was having at that point), but perhaps a fitting endcap. My favorites then and now from this album are "Walking in your footsteps" (despite how obvious and simple the lyrics are in many ways), "Miss Gradenko" and "King of pain", with a shout out for Andy Summers' hilarious "Mother" (which sounds so much like early Police yet totally *un*-Police by this point). I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I just got done dinging Kate Bush for her superficial-sounding world/ethnic music on "The Sensual World", yet you could probably accuse Police of the same in some aspects on this album (especially "Tea in the Sahara"), and then Sting went full-bore on the world music sound in his solo career. But probably because I'd heard this album from a relatively early age, it doesn't bother me nearly as much on this album, and it feels so much more creatively incorporated too.

Every breath you take King of pain

The first half of this has some stinkers (I don't think Mother is as bad as everyone makes it seem though), the second half has some great songs. Synchronicity II is probably my favorite Police song. High 4.

actually liked this album a lot, has some classics I actually know.

Sweet. Truly have never heard a full Police album and will be checking this out. I do know some of these tracks on this album. What a great album. 4-stars

Never listen to Police outside of the hits. Most of the album feels like Thin Lizzy and Bowie influences with some english proggy elements. It's pretty good.

I loved listening to this album today (and yesterday). Stewart Copeland is such an awesome drummer. Mother is such a fucking awful song. Synchronicity II is such a good listen and so is Every Breath you Take. loved it.

Very good album with one greatest hit on all times.

This slick final Police offering boasts several radio hits. However, The their previous releases were superior.

7.5/10

Diverse is sure something you can call this album. Eventhough the band plays with a lot of different styles, the groovy base and the impelling drums work recognizable along the album as a 80's Casio watch. Sting's voice next to the synths and guitar lets you float through the experience of synchronicity. Mixed with some expiremental stuff but true to some base elements, this album is a blast to hear.

A great albums full of classic tracks!! So many good songs! But there’s one awful track (Mother) so I took off a star.

a Police nagyonjó cucc volt, de sose érettem igazán a felhajtást pont ekörül, sokkalsokkal jobb albumuk is van 😬

First song is amazing, great start to the album. Percussion has been very groovy at the beginning of the album as is the bass line on "o my god." Kinda hate "mother." Miss Gradenko is interesting... Very much enjoyed Synch2. Paints a great picture in song of a really depressing existence. Every breath is creepy but it is a good single. King of pain thumbs up. Wrapped around your finger is great, love the synth. Tea in the Sahara is a great soundscape for the desert. Love murder by numbers. They're as easy to learn as your ABC's! I think this one deserves a solid 4.

Outside of one song, very good album

This was a pillar of that mid-80s golden age of albums, one of the truly great collections of genius songwriting. Somehow they walked the line that so many 80s British bands couldn’t - big hair, slashing style, feigned blitheness, New Wave-y style, tangential lyrics - and made it work. In the wasteland of Duran Duran, Big Country, New Order, the Smiths, the Cure, the Police remain. Long live the Police - Jesus, sounds like America of 2025, not MuchMusic of 1984…

Great album!

Pretty good!

Early Police

Classic Police album

Their final album which I own on vinyl. Singles are standout tracks not their best album spoilt by the inclusion of 'Mother' which I think doesn't work and is truly awful

This is actually a really good listen. The singles are good but so are most of the album tracks. Moreover, the recording is astonishingly high quality throughout. It's obvious why Sting wrote the majority of the songs though. The ones here written by Summers and Copeland lack finesse, especially in the lyrics.

Rätt cool. Every breathe you take osv.

It's a perfect album but it's missing something. I don't know what it's missing. I guess it's too polished and is missing energy. I really like The Police. Love Outlandos D'Amour. But their earlier albums I like more because they are weirder and have more punk energy, even though I think songwriting-wise this is the best one. If this had more songs like "Mother" this would be a 5. I love Mother, I love that Sting didn't want it on the record and I love that fans of this record hate it. Andy Summers was definitely the coolest member of The Police.

Amazing

they did great things in a few time

Good album but not my favorite from The Police

Favorite Track: Synchronicity II

Mother is unhinged, and for a song with EBYT on it that’s saying summat. Stings voice still grates, Copeland rocks

Great record, both poppy and experimental at times

Solid album. Murder by Numbers favorite. Not sure where or how Mother made it on here.

The song “walking in your footsteps” is like the eyewitness nature doucumentary theme song core. king of pain, synchronicity I and II and every breath your take (yes creepy but such a good instrumental/melody) make this a good record to check out. A little annoying with the world influences but still nice

Equal parts classic, inventive and a lot of fun

Was good the highs are high lows are low

The mediocre songs are ok, and the good songs are really good. I still want to yell along with Sting on every chorus. I've never heard Mother before, and it cracked me up. Every girl that you go out with thinks you're a man-baby, buddy.
