This is a fantastic album filled with hits. Andre Benjamin AKA Possum Aloysius Jenkins is a goddamned lyrical genius. In an era dominated by gangsta rap (and OutKast gives you a little of that), Andre 3000 was usually way left of center. Even when he did dip his toes in the gangsta pool, his lyrics are written with a thoughtfulness and poetry only seen amongst the all time greats. I’d give this one a 4.5 if I could. There are a few songs that I think are kind of filler and the album is too long as a result.

Nice catchy hip-hop, but it was too long and got tiring. Stand-out: B.O.B.

One of the real standouts in the class of 2000 rap golden age, this album is overflowing with musical ideas, huge hooks, kick-ass cameos, hilarious verses, and unstopable energy. Like the rap Prince, Outkast is a sponge steeped in American music from soul and funk to rock and hip hop to disco and house. Electrocute that sponge until it squeezes out an album and you get Stankonia, an eclectic and thrillingly produced 75 minutes (dear year 2000, you don't need to fill up the damn cd!) of otherworldly beats and Atlien rhymes.

Mostly unenjoyable. The album is waay too long. There are some fun moments, interesting production and decent flow at times. The skits got me too. Most of the tracks overstay their welcome with the same hook. The idea of being a concept album is all over the gaff as well. Pretty unimpressed.

I had heard singles off of the album but never the whole album. It was a great selection and I think I'm going to keep it around a while

I'm always skeptical of albums that are over an hour long, especially when they tip into the 70 minute territory. But some of my favorite albums are pretty damn long, so it's not really an indication of quality on its own. If it's a good album, then you're in for a treat. If it's not good, it'll be agonizing. A just-okay album can crater to a bad album when its runtime is too long. All this to say that Stankonia is absolutely packed with heaters, bangers, and jams, and sometimes a long runtime is a good thing actually, because it means there's more of those. Highlights: Gasoline Dreams, Ms. Jackson, Snappin' & Trappin', Spaghetti Junction, I'll Call B4 I Cum, B.O.B., Humble Mumble, ?, Gangsta Shit

Not fair for me to review but I tried to listen...no fan of the genre

Very experimental and ahead of their time. Long before Kendrick Lamar or Tyler the Creator or anyone was making 'jazzier' hip hop albums, OutKast was going full into some very experimental territories for a hip hop album. I can hear clear inspirations from the likes of Bootsie Collins and Parliament Funkadelic on this. Most will know tracks like So Fresh and So Clean, Ms. Jackson, and B.O.B, but the deeper cuts on this record go into vastly different directions in production and style. Unfortunately, I think some of these ideas did not age well, potentially as a result of the limitations of what they had to work with. Snappin & Trappin and We Luv Deez Hoez are songs for example that sound like Animal Crossing K.K. Slider beats. Some of the sound selection is a bit funny in retrospect. Gasoline Dreams, Spaghetti Junction, and Humble Mumble are all great tracks that were likely overlooked by the larger hits of this album.

Loving this album. I don't usually listen to hip hop, but loving the elements of funk and rock. I'd come back to this album again.

Opening with a ring modulator is a brave move. I love the use of African percussion and vocal effects in the intro, too. Outkast weave in a lot of heavy plosives into their recordings, which gives them quite a unique feel. The aggressive beats and overdiven guitar and synth puts across the same emotions of their lyrics. This album also has Ms Jackson, a massive international hit, which was a soft introduction for huge swathes of people into hip-hop. Their buttery smooth rapping is the icing on the cake.

I felt like this album was not meant to speak to me. I understand it was influential in the development of hip-hop. Just difficult for me to relate to as it did not feel like I was intended to be part of the conversation.

YESSS HIP-HOP. Yesterday I didn't get what I wanted and this must be what I want right now. Have been into this genre more and more lately and OutKast must be make me fullfil sonically and lyrically. First song, it's a non-verbal intro, nevermind Spotify doesn't have the lyrics. He's talking, but in an alien way. Rocky Horror Show vibes with that girl moaning iykyk. Two men asking me to bounce rn. Second song, oooh a transition. Saying alright scratched my brain. Theeee energy is veery infective. The fast fast rapping is the best here. Chorus is quite catchy too. I silent rapped with them, not to speak over them. I love their style, plus there'll always be two rapping so the diversity is wider. Third song, interlude already. A woman saying it's cold, and breathing, feels like an asmr. She's cool now. Fourth song, another transition I suppose. Ooooooo the lyrical delivery of that chorus is too good. Best part that is for now. Third verse is the best one, the voice is different in a good way. Watching the video and it must make this vibe even better. Fifth song, was this a transition too idk. This is one of their most known songs. Chorus is the best part because it's nostalgic, but the flow is too good to ignore. The video of this one is also what I call a full experience. Can't talk much because this is too good to be just sittin writin stuff. Sixth song, what was that womp womp start. God it came back. The delivery of the chorus is amazing. After the half of the song, they're rap talking to each other, fuuun. Sean Paul like rapping now. This sounds like experimental hip-hop at some points. 7th song, interlude. Sounds like something is being announced by him. 8th song, oooh bossy start. One of the best choruses again. Can't they much about the rapping, the flow is just unstoppable and I really want to just rap along with it. The whispering junction is so good. 9th song, jazzyness came in with the interlude. This woman is talking a lot here, wonder who she is. Just checked the lyrics to this masterpiece humour cause Spotify has no lyrics and this was funny asf, didn't know I'd add interlude to the liked songs, the background voices made it even better, her accent and the way she eats some words is so unfamiliar to me, better be more like these here. 10th song, the name of the song is already funny. Ohh thought I wouldn't say much, but didn't know the girl would join the rap, made this even better because it's a different vibe. The chorus delivery is something else btw. Dunno who eco is. Also I think 10th song is connected to the 9th one, but different perspectives, but not like literally connected(interlude already means they're connected but still. 11th song, what a staaart biiitch. The flow is flowing flawlessly. 5 minutes of this is so long but can't wait to know whether it's actually unstoppable rapping. Forgot to say that most songs are very good sonically too. The music videos are low CGI but not that it matters. Children are screaming the song tittle. Why is the rest if the song straight up daft punk vibed. love the outro, which is weird because it should be repetitive but it aint. 12th song, a lot of unknown rappers(for me) they have invited for the album turns out. Chorus is not as good here, so rapping is better, oooh especially that second verse. EMINEM MENTIONEDD, FIRST TIME HEARING HIS NAME ON OTHER RECORDS, others are mentioned too, but this one was lyrically interesting. There was a woman at the end. 13th song, Spanish vibes with a Spanish girl I think, it's an interlude tho, so not much information or fun. 14th song, forget to talk about the song. The chorus delivery is the best part, especially the fake haha laugh and then saying the song tittle in a too funny way is what I didn't know I needed. The wa-wa-wa was used before as the beat. Long ass outro slowly fading away. 15th song, ERYKAH BADU?! Haven't heard of her as a feature on other's songs. I think she's singing the chorus with him, but she must have a verse too. THAT BEAT CHANGE, GOD. Finally BADUU, she's basically rapping, best thing she could have done here. He's just talking at the end. And the outro is long asf. Shushing me now umm. 16th song, annoyed by the fact that computer can do a better job than him, plus a girl left him, I think that was it. A lot of interludes makes the album less stretched to be honest. 17th song, Andre 3000? Spotify says he's gonna rap, but where's the feature. FAST ASF HE IS. Drink is poured, some childish toy sounds, oh also this one is short, but not an interlude. 18th song, they mentioned themselves for the first time I think. The fuck a woman is rapping but I see no feature, is this because of Spotify. This didn't hook me to be honest, one of the worst ones for me as a first listener. 19th song, funny asf I can't with them anymore. 20th song, they became so serious in this one in a second. love the chorus already. Spelled their name and referenced their fresh and clean song. Oh they spelling all the artists they featuring here. TMO raps differently, wouldn't say it's better tho. Naah Slimm's verse is by far the best. 2pac mentioned. Slimm had the best delivery I repeat. 21th song, it's giving ATL hip-hop. Ooh this is the first almost R/B song from them, the beat and the nonrap makes me say that to be exact. Didn't expect this kind of song from them, slow asf. Ooh rap came in, but it's still ATL vibed. 22th song, they changed the album vibe with these songs, this is more expected from them but it's still slower than what they had before. I don't like this one, even the rap part is not as amusing as it should be. A-capella at the end. 23th song, interlude, he just asked her to marry her, girl only has two words in her vocabulary, but the thing is he wants to be safe so after dicorce financial agreement he suggested and girl was confused. Might be a reference to smth dunno why I explained it tbh. 24th song, I'm telling ya they changed the album drastically, and I love that but if this was the whole vibe I'd not like it. Also 7 fucking minutes. It's giving Childish Gambino. It's romantic in a way, the beat and the vibe in general. Love that the end of the album has a different way of ending, which is basically swapping the genres fully. Long ass outro, don't know what I'm expecting. The silence is giving Korn. Oh nevermind Barry White like voice came in. Everything came back but nothing verbal(I think). Shit just realised that song has an album name. He moaned? If so, I guess best way to end it all. Must be obvious already but this is a 5 star album, well in general a 5 star should have all the songs the best, but I think I just need to get to know them, and I mean the few last songs. Basically I love how they rap, energise and make theee catchiest choruses I've heard for a while in hip-hop.

Tons of bangers, but too long and too skit-heavy. I adore the style changes between songs and how much this feels like a greatest hits while still blending and feeling complete.

A southern rap classic. Great blending of styles. My only complaint would be the large amount of skits on here. Favorite songs are So Fresh So Clean. Ms Jackson, B O B, Humble Mumble, and Gasoline Dreams.

Pure excellence. I love that Aaron mills played bass.

- The first segment of this album (from "Gasoline Dreams" to "So Fresh, So Clean" to "Ms. Jackson") is as engaging as any hip-hop album I have listened to. - I do feel that the latter half of the album sags, though "B.O.B." is phenomenal and a few others almost reach the height of that first chunk.

One of the most iconic and influential album of our time when it comes to rap. Compared to all the other artists at the time, Outkast's sound was completely different and refreshing.

This is a weird album. Some absolute bangers and some really weird stuff too.

Honestly, this was kind of aggressive. Not my favorite type of rap. Obviously there are some classics, although I will always skip Ms. Jackson now because it went viral on tiktok and I heard it too many times.

Sometimes you know that you will not enjoy an album when you see its cover. There are exceptions to prove this rule but in this case the cover told me all I needed to know about what I was about to listen to. A better related maxim is don’t judge a book by its cover. I believe in this so dutifully waded through this album. But there came a time when the whole process became unbearable and I had had enough. This type of music was never written for the likes of me at my stage of life so as I have written before, I cannot make a sound judgement other than to say I didn’t enjoy listening to it but good luck to those having the opposite view and derive a great deal of enjoyment from this.

Listening anyway, but the stories, music, and rhymes on this album were the sounds of my high school years. Dre's musical prowess with Big Boi's lyrical craft make this album just as amazing today as when it was released 24 years ago. 5/5!

really mixed feelings on this one, some cracking tracks but too many interludes and filler material to be more than a 3.5 for me

This album is mostly a classic. The first half is phenomenal and the interludes are well-constructed and funny. The second half gets a bit bloated and the songs don't hit as hard. Although it's bloated, it is an enjoyable album that I'd give a 3.5/5 and will round. 4/5.

this album is pretty great. outkast are some of my favorite rappers and i think this album is one of their pinnacles in terms of rap, flow, and beats. the skits i could take or leave, they don't do much for me but i know skits and rap albums go hand in hand so it doesn't bother me much. some of the songs are a little less than stellar, but the really great stuff massively outweighs them.

Awesome album, I really enjoyed this. Reninds me of middle school, I knew So Fresh, So Clean and Ms. Jackson, but I hadn't listened to the rest of this album before. It's weird, lyrically dense, and just really cool. I don't love every song, but had a ton of fun throughout this album. My favorite is maybe Snappin' & Trappin', or maybe Red Velvet (besides BOB and Ms. Jackson).

Listened 2/25/24. Had album when it came out. It has aged well. A few filler tracks, but overall a great funky hip hop record in the vein of p-funk

Not usually my genre but I enjoyed it. Good music to drive to.

In the early 2000s, Outkast was essentially the gateway rap drug for white people. We had Eminem and the Nu Rock sound, but OutKast and Jay-Z made it cool for us to get down with some rap. I love Outkast. The only reason it doesn't get a full 5/5 is because I hate the early 2000s need to put skits into albums. Except for Tenacious D, skits are never funny when included into an overall good album. 4.5/5

Loved this album as a youth, but other than the 3 BANGER singles, I don't love it as much anymore. Maybe I'm old...

The first 3 songs kept getting better and better with Ms Jackson being a great song. Then it became fine until B.O.B. which is amazing. Some great songs but too many interludes and average songs. Bit disappointed by the Killer Mike song too.

The Andre 3000 songs are good.

Almost certainly wouldn't have listened to this without this project. I didn't like everything, but managed to groove along with some of it. More thoughtful than I expected if I'm honest. From my very limited knowledge of hip hop, I can see why it's a noticeable album. I'm enjoying learning about where things "sit" in genres that I know nothing about.

Found myself bopping along round the kitchen to this. I only knew Ms Jackson before (24 years old, what?!) but I enjoyed listening to the whole album. Track to listen to again: So Fresh, So Clean

Recognised more of the songs than I thought I would. I think it would be an album that grows on me the more I listen to it, but 3 stars for now as it’s not something I think I’ll immediately listen to again. Very unique and interesting sound

So the surprise moment for me was figuring out the lead singer was Jeremiah Mercer in the movie Four Brothers. Four Brothers is a good movie. Shout out to Detroit! Do yourself a favor and check out the soundtrack too. It's a solid 5 with songs by Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, The Temptations and the Jackson 5. This album here.....well, not really anything I enjoyed. Way too long and nothing capture my interest. Have heard the Miss Jackson song, but, yea, just not for me. In conclusion, soundtrack from Four Brothers = 5. This album here = 2 2

3.5 First and foremost, B.O.B. may very well be one of the most hype songs ever written. That out of the way, I thought this album was fine. Honestly, I’m a little disappointed and was hoping to have enjoyed this a little bit more being that I’ve enjoyed everything that I’ve heard from these guys prior, but outside of B.O.B. and Ms. Jackson (another 10/10 track), this album is 50/50 in being either pretty good or forgettable. And a lot of said pretty good songs, like Gasoline Dreams, So Fresh, So Clean, and Spaghetti Junction, fall in the first half of the album, so once you’re past what feels like the peak in B.O.B., the whole thing starts to lose a little bit of steam - and that’s not even halfway through yet. That’s not to say anything in the back half is bad, there really wasn’t anything that I disliked, but there also wasn’t really a ton jumping out at me either. For a closing track, I initially thought Stankonia was kind of annoying and repetitive, but I did find the chorus stuck in my head after listening and think I was able to develop a bit of appreciation for it in hindsight. Though speaking of hindsight appreciation, the songs that stood out to me the most in the back half on my first listening were We Luv Deez Hoes and Toilet Tisha, mostly because of what seemed like hard, out of place, misogynistic shifts. Well, fortunately, I decided to read into the tracks a bit, and as it turns out, the first track is actually supposed to be satire regarding pimping and the latter is actually commentary regarding the social stigma of teen pregnancy. I guess the boys deliberately set out to touch on feminist themes with this album as a contrast to a lot of other contemporary hip hop, and if you look into it further from there, you learn Ms. Jackson is an apology to a mother for getting her daughter pregnant and a promise to stick around and be a father, and I’ll Call Before I Come is about… uh… supporting female needs, I’ll leave it at that (probably should have deduced that one a little quicker than I did, especially with the preceding skit). That all to say, I think some of the messaging on this album helped me appreciate it just a bit more. But yeah, despite having a good chunk of stuff here that I liked and a couple instances of stuff that I loved, I think the album is just a touch bloated and has a bit too much filler. A lot of the skits were misses for me aside from Pre-Nump and Drinkin’ Again, the only two I found somewhat funny, though I will say the latter gave me a little bit of dread thinking about when AI inevitably replaces all of our jobs (I know, I know, waayyy overthinking that one). As a whole, still pretty good though and something I would say I mostly enjoyed. For the time being, Outkast will probably be an artist I stick to listening to individual songs with, but I’d definitely be interested in checking out more of their albums in the future.

Some great hits, and some songs that I've never heard that I loved. Great album, from a great band. Throw out a couple of the less good songs and easily a 5. Would give 4.5/5 as is.

Hip-Hop is not my thing but I did recognise 1 track from this album and some of the rest was not bad. I have not become a Hip-Hop fan and I will probably never listen to this album again, but it wasn't boring.

This is my favorite hip hop album I have heard in its entirety. I only liked half of the songs enough to listen again, but that's a big one for me, as a hip hop newbie. This project has really made me get ouf of my music comfort zone. Favorite songs: Gasoline Dreams - strong beginning, needs a relisten, bouncy Miss Jackson - oooh Spaghetti Junction - nice flow B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad) - delicious beat Humble Mumble - good energy Gangsta Sh*t - that beat was sick Least favorite songs: Snappin' & Trappin' - really not for me, got a headache Toilet Tisha - this song should've gone in the toilet, instead of onto the album

Love this album, sounds like Middle School dances. I'm pretty sure Ms Jackson and So Fresh, So Clean were two of the first songs I downloaded on Napster. So many different styles and sounds here. Andres' cadence is flawless. And in reading about the album, learned he plays keys and guitar on various tracks. Never knew that, always assumed music was sampled. It's cool to know they are composing and performing in addition to the rapping. Side note on Spotify play counts: some of the interludes have as low as 1500 plays. I've listened to this album start to finish at least 10 times. Does that really mean that I make up ~1% of the people who've listened straight through?

An unrelenting, unstoppable collection of mega-bangers. You could cut a few songs and a few skits and it would be even better, but if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Music's lyrical content is always fairly lost on me. And, yes, that's a problem with rap. Outkast are just crazy good however, and it shows here. Plenty of quality, weird and exciting bits. B.O.B. was new to me (from this album's hits) B.O.B. is 🔥. By the end, though, I had zoned out and the next track to catch my attention played when the album had ended. BREAK

First, I hate skits. They don’t belong on albums and pull me out of the music. Ms. Jackson takes me back - still love it. Overall not a bad album.

One of the greatest hip hop albums by one of the greatest duos (with in my opinion the greatest rapper of all time 3 stacks) with so many bangers. This album was so influential in the scene and with one of the hardest covers of all time. The only thing that slogs this album down is the amount of skits and some filler tracks.

Extremely funky with lots of humor and uniqueness.

Probably not the hipster choice for best OutKast album (Aquemini? Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik?) but certainly the most popular and accessible. Ranging across genres, successors to Funkadelic Parliament; preferring original music to samples earns extra points, OutKast move Hip Hop forward with two versatile, original and talented rappers. At 70+ minutes the ambition is admirable but the choicest cuts appear early (Gasoline Dreams, So Fresh, So Clean, Ms Jackson, B.O.B) so the backend loses its way a little, and even OutKast aren't immune to the curse of the Hip Hop skit. Still, a refreshing, impressive and mostly enjoyable album.

Stankonia is one very weird album that, like some of the electronica albums I have looked at, The songs felt like drug trips since each one had something different to offer. However, That doesn't mean its a bad album, While some songs aren't handled so well, others are handled well and can be real catchy and cool sounding when they want to be. I also love the "BREAK" shout after all the intermission tracks, i found that really charming. It isn't the easiest album to get into (especially with its long length). But if you give it a chance, You will probably find something to like about it. Best Song: B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad) Worst Song: I'll Call B4 I Cum

Dam this is a really solid album. As someone who doesn't really listen to a lot of hip hop or rap I can see how people get down to this shit. A few clear stand-outs as well as some fun skits, a great all around listen. Fav Tracks - Gasoline Dreams - Ms Jackson - BOB

Solid, great production from start to finish, not my favorite from them but still a amazing time. It is a great balance between pop rap and experimental hip hop.

Outkast's answer to Funkadelic. Frontloaded with hits/instant classics while the back end's deeper cuts deliver on the wonderful weirdness that could only come from the mind of Andre 3000. Having listened to Aquemeni, ATLiens, and Speakerboxx/Love Below, this album only reasserts that I'm never going to get over the rapid-fire and syncopated flows Big Boi has on any given Outkast project.

The r&b elements are great! The hip hop elements are all good except for the rap, which seemed a bit lackluster in my opinion.

Here’s the pathetic thing; if this is considered one of the greatest rap/hip-hop albums of all time, it’s proof how shitty the genre is. This SUCKS!!!!

I am a big fan of Outkast. I own their first 3 albums. This album made them blow up, but I don’t think it is as good as the earlier albums. So Fresh and So Clean and Ms Jackson are classics

Widely considered a classic, I've never actually listened to this thing front-to-back. There are obvious classics here but the other tracks hold up, too. Very creative beats and production, huge offering of different styles. This record has a lot to offer, though I'm not a huge fan of the interludes they do work in favor of the tracklist flow. Held in high regard for a good reason!

I have not heard this album but I do know Outkast. I’m not used to listening to this style of rap music but it wasn’t bad. I recognized some songs actually: So fresh, so clean, and Ms. Jackson. My favorites were: Gasoline dreams, and B.O.B. My least favorites were all the interludes and Snappin & Trappin and Stankonia. I will listen to a select few songs again though.

An incredibly well crafted album in every regard. Lyrics, production, writing. Every part goes so hard. I really enjoyed it. Have a hard time finding anything bad to say. A tad long and lackluster structure (comparatively), but I believe they achieved what they set out to do and that’s just swell. 4/5

Now this is an album I have been meaning to listen to all the way through. Obviously know the bangers and singles but nothing more and respect Outkast as artists.

Enjoyed the second half more than the first, probably needs a closer listen to really appreciate.

Canny this. Cant see me returning but quite enjoyed it. The right side of rap / pop for me too, it isnt too ridiculous in that sense. Not got much more to say: its decent, has a bit nostalgia, and probably a lot better than some of the other rap albums of its time. An extra bit credit for the guy who is spoken about in ‘Kim and Cookie’ for being a quick finisher. I feel you mate. I see you.

Generally like OutKast singles, they sound completely different from their peers, loads more musical influences. They mostly avoid the gangster tropes of other artists (there was a little bit on here) and are generally positive and fun to listen to. A whole album was a bit much, especially one this long, the second half in particular started to blend into one. I really like Andre 3000s flow and it was underutilized, should have been some more straightforward rapping and less slow crooning. Overall well worth a listen but not sure I'd go back.

Never listened to an OutKast album before but liked what I have heard. The best thing about Andre 3000 is the quick rapping flow he has, it's great. Possibly isn't enough of it here. I agree with Jamie, it's different to a lot of their popular peers from the time and largely avoids the shit gangsta tropes. Much more eclectic than other hip hop albums we've had from the era. It isn't all of the same quality in my opinion, but when it's good, it's amazing. Highlights: Miss Jackson BOB Xplosion (can't mistake B real's voice) Humble mumble Never been a fan of so fresh, so clean, which I guess was the biggest hit from this album. I'll be back to some of it! 3.5

This album was OK. It’s not really my cup of tea, but I can understand the influence on other albums of the time I do like some of the rhythms and flow and some of the tracks. It is also a little too vulgar for me. 3/5

A fairly enjoyable rap album, with Outkast being one of the few rap acts I would listen to. My biggest gripe is the lyrics... it just grinds me the over applied use of the word niggah so much in rap, it just is so boring and predictable.

Soulful Rap from southern America. Calling Ms Jackson is their wellknown hit. Interesting vita that drives away from the cliche of other Rap musicians.

I lived all the singles from this as they were released and I remember eagerly awaiting the album...it didn't disappoint! Still sounds great and as fresh as it did back then.

I was never a big fan of rap in general, but several rap albums have transcended the genre for me. This is one of those albums. Solid songs, a variety of styles, keeps you bouncing. I could probably do without the interludes though.

It really falls off after humble mumble. Could have easily cut out 30-40 mins and it would be a 5. There's some fantastic classics in the first half.

Favourite Song: So Fresh, So Clean Loved the funk and that it had something to say. Like the more melodic style and catchy songs.

Great but doesn’t deserve to be on the wall

This is the first OutKast album I listened to in its entirety. Overall, it’s a really unique, yet enjoyable listen. It’s apparent that the album is influenced by 70’s/80’s funk with influences being Parliament Funkadelic, etc. This sound comes out in songs such as Toilet Tisha, I’ll Call B4 I Cum (Love Gangsta Boo’s flow on this track), and Slum Beautiful. It’s rooted in an older sound but also packaged for the time it was released. Furthermore, hits like So Fresh, So Clean and Ms. Jackson are on this project. I like this project a lot and would definitely revisit.

I like the vibe. Can’t deny the beat. The words. It’s a world I don’t know, of course, as a 63-year-old white woman. I don’t know how they write like that. It is raw and real and creative. It’s not the best music for me to get my connections puzzle done early in the morning. 😂 It started to wear on me after a while. Probably would be better to listen when I’m doing something like cleaning the house or cooking.

I was 16 when the great wave of 2000 hit Atlanta. Everyone, from teenagers in the suburbs to fucking OutKast was doing the same lsd. It seemed that way. They had to be to create the perfect soundtrack to the time and place. This album is engrained in my being. I’m sent through time as soon as I hear “I’m bouncing!” Break!

This is an amazing vocal performance. No wonder Andre doesn't want to rap anymore. I can't see anybody rapping this fast and furious without a lot of practice. Funky and with all types of styles and beats. These guys can rap over any beat or with any flow.

I was ready to give this a 5 or 4 due to So Fresh, So Clean, Ms. Jackson, and B.O.B being on here. But those are the only 3 songs out of the 200 that I liked. Not terrible album at all, but a lot of fluff surrounding a few gems.

Familiar with this one. Tremendously high highs, but lots of skippable tracks here. Falling into that old rap trap of too many interludes. However, the highs are proof that if you have some musicality in you beats, and not just droning bass notes with a few piano notes, rap can be really special.

Hip-Hop is not my thing, but I enjoyed listening to this. Each piece had a distinct sound, and the overall mixing / layering of tracks was well balanced.

Bangers from start to finish only briefly interrupted by goofy interludes. The singles lead the way with my personal favorite being "B.O.B." instead of the more famous "Ms. Jackson" and "So Fresh, So Clean" but there are underrated tracks throughout: "Gasoline Dreams" and "Humble Mumble" being the best of the rest. Hip-hop mastery with infectious hooks, driving beats, clever lyrics, impressive clean production. Creative and takes hip hop to new places and the singles are arguably early examples of rap becoming mainstream.

3 great, great songs. The whole album is clever and interesting, although I'm over skits & interludes forever. B.O.B., So Fresh So Clean, and Ms Jackson are classics.

Highlights: Gasoline Dreams, Ms Jackson, Spaghetti Junction, Humble Mumble, B.O.B. Didn't like: Most of the interludes. "Call B4 I Cum" had a really annoying hook, and I don't think I'd listen to "We Luv Deez Hoes" again. Overall a bit long. Would have benefitted from being a shorter album. Overall: Energetic, fun, frenetic at times. Amazing energy throughout. Timeless, doesn't feel dated even though it came out in 2000. I'm not really a hiphop/rap expert but the lyricism and flow are so unique and fun to listen to. Really great hooks and interesting hugely varied influences and samples. Having said that, some of the tracks are incredible, and some are kind of meh. And I don't love the misogyny even though I know some of it is tongue in cheek.

Ok rap

I have a fond spot for OutKast and the song Ms Jackson for the way the owl in the film clip makes my wife laugh hysterically. Ms Jackson is a standout song on this album and I also enjoyed B.O.B. and Stankonia.

Turns out I have a bunch of nostalgic affection for this album - I guess my house mate around 2000 played it a bunch. Also heard "Ms. Jackson" a whole load on the radio at one of my first office jobs post graduation. It's a testament to how good that song is that overexposure didn't sour me on it. There are quite a few skits, but most of them serve more like song intros and don't totally derail the flow of the album... Fave tracks - "Gasoline Dreams", "Ms. Jackson", the one two punch of "B.O.B." and "Xplosion".

Amazing rap album. Big Boi brings the traditional great rap on this album, while Andre 3000 adds uniqueness. ‘Mrs. Jackson’, ‘B.O.B.’, I could go on. Easy 5.

Ms. Jackson, So Fresh So Clean, couple other songs on this album are good to banger level. There's a _lot_ of chaff though, Outkast is 2 for 2 on this list of albums that are way longer than they needed to be. That said, I'm still a fan.

One of the better Hip Hop albums out there. While I'm not a fan of sketches on Hip Hop albums, they don't distract on Stankonia as much as others. Outkast packs a lot into this album at a whopping 1:13 in length. Albums over an hour a drudge to get through, but Outkast minimizes that here as well. Overall, a great HipHop album that ranks high on the list of all-time greats. 4/5.

A very bloated album. Way too many skits and random interludes that bring down what would be a pretty incredible album. It has three of Outkast's most iconic songs in So Fresh, So Clean, Ms. Jackson, and Bombs Over Baghdad. But those three songs can't hold up the rest of the fluff of the album.

I gave it one listen through (didn't have time for a better dedicated listening session). I knew Ms Jackson and So Fresh, So Clean, and both are awesome songs. I didn't know the rest. I like Andre 3000's voice. The various skits/interludes were "meh". I might get into this more if I give it another listen. I'm also curious to try their other albums, especially Aquemini, since everybody in the group seems high on that one.

One of those albums that is hard to disentangle from a period in my life. It might not be perfect, and it might not even be their best album but it still gets a 5.

The Grammy's are bullshit for lots of reasons, but giving Outkast's weakest double LP an award over their outstanding run of back to back albums is definitely up there. ATLiens, Aquemini and then Stankonia - it's an insane, seriously genius run. This could have been 'Bombs Over Baghdad' on repeat for 57 minutes and I'd still probably have given it 4 stars. You throw in 'Gasoline Dreams,' 'Humble Mumble' 'So Fresh & So Clean' and there's just no argument.

Stankonia is a move in a poppier direction, but doesn't sacrifice the bars or experimentation. The production is lush, the hooks are funky, the wordplay is as clever as ever, and Outkast still has things to say and stories to tell. It doesn't feel as laser focused as their previous couple albums, but you probably won't notice as you bob along to the beat. *Heard before.

Listened Before? Yes All aboard the Stankonia Express, the funky engine that could! I'll welcome any excuse to re-listen to this album. This was my introduction to Outkast (in a proper sense) and I remember playing this end over end for the better part of a week straight. There's something here for everyone. Straight rippers: CHECK (Gasoline Dreams, B.O.B, Xplosion), Funky singalongs: CHECK (So Fresh, So Clean, Ms. Jackson, Red Velvet), Dirty south: CHECK (Gangsta Shit, Snappin' & Trappin'), Great skits: CHECK (I'm Cool, Humble Mumble (intro)), and whatever the fuck "?" classifies as. And somehow this is still slotted firmly as their third best album. This is a dense and thick album weighing in at 73 minutes, and yet the variation and pure capability keep this from ever feeling like a slog. I don't think I could ever tire of hearing Andre and Big Boi flow off of each other. Also the production and beat selection is on point. I still find myself quoting the intro to Humble Mumble and the "we're bouncing" bit from the intro to this day. I could write all day to this album, but alas, I need to work. Easy 5 / 5 for me. Some really good jams but a lot of songs I don't care for. Was a bit long for me but I do see that for it's time it was creative album.

Not my favorite. The classics slap, but I didn't really find any other gems in this album except for maybe B.O.B which sounded like Flux Pavilion produced it. The album Kinda reminded me of Prince's 1999, especially with how sexual it is. It's also entirely too long, it felt like I was slogging through. Maybe this deserves another listen? Idk not really in my wheelhouse.

The singles are so good and so is Humble Mumble, that may have actually been my favorite song. The rest is pretty good with some nice beats and guitar sprinkled in every so often. Weird interludes sometimes though which I have learned is a huge part of early 2000s/90s hip hop albums. Solid enough album which I wouldn't mind listening to again.

Outkast is so good from their production, beats, flow between Big Boi and Andre, and their ability to bend genres. Love this album it had been years since I’ve listened to it and it was a refreshing listen that makes me want to blast down another Outkast phase. 4.5 but rounding up. Only knock is it’s a little long but still was an easy listen. Give us another OutKast album or tour please!!!!

I've got a feeling I'm in the minority here but: Underwhelming. It was a light listen and really not my thing - bearing in mind I loved the Pharcyde album on this list and do enjoy a lot of hip hop. I just found this to be a pretty uninspiring listen that, to my non-expert ear, didn't trigger any particular excitement. I'll not labour the point as I reckon I'm pretty uninformed when it comes to the significance of this album.

Too long. Too many shit skits and interludes. Some filler tracks. Stupid misogyny. Overwise really good. (Lol) /s

I love OutKast, and the album flew by for being an hour and a half

Some songs too long drawn out. A mishmash of some soulful/poppy songs while on the other hand there's some bad hiphop/rap songs.

oh my god, I'm not like 4 hours of sleep and the lyrics is going so fast, and my tiredness is making worse, the first 3 songs were understandable but 😵‍💫 Some songs were good but some overworked my brain tooo fastt

Another rap album I may listen to while cycling

A nice change of pace from the other albums we've seen so far. Nice old-school rap which ,even though i prefer the more contemporary style, I enjoyed. Ms Jackson is an absolute classic didn't know it was from them. 7.5/10
