Reviews (page 11 of 13)

Massive fan of the radio hits "So Fresh and so Clean," "Ms. Jackson," and "B.O.B." The rest of the album, especially the skits - not so much.

Lots of filler, not enough killer.

i'm here only for ms. jackson song

C’était meilleur que ce que j’anticipais

3. While I'm not into hiphop, I do actually like Outkast. This album was too long for me though and I'm not a fan of the skits.

There were a few songs on this album that were absolutely blowing my socks off, with Xplosion as the number 1. Also songs like Gasoline Dreams, B.O.B. and Ms Jackson will be in personal playlists going forward. But a few really outstanding songs don't make a good album I'm afraid. I know the skits are part of the whole hiphop thing, but my god, they're annoying and not funny. They add nothing to the album. And some songs just don't reach even half the heights that the top songs do. I enjoyed listening to it though, and this has certainly peaked my interest to listen to more of their work. I'll start at the start of their discography tomorrow.

Good album but not a fan of skits and interludes in general and this album had a bunch of them. 3.5

Rap, not my style but has some classics

I'm not usually the biggest fan of hip hop, but I enjoyed the more melodic nature of this. Obviously Miss Jackson is a huge song from this one, which I really like. Had not heard B.O.B before. Enjoyed that song. Thought this album was a bit longer than it needed to be

A lot of songs are very good on this album, they have great rhythm, they are written so well and they blend together easily. My main issue with this album is that the lyrics are often so much and they sing so fast that it is difficult to understand what they sing about, and as someone from Europe, as a non native speaker it's a lot more difficult to get into it. The other thing is that because of the amount of lyrics, and packed songs the album feels really long with the 73 minutes. I had to pause it and take a little break while I was listening to it because otherwise I couldn't have processed everything. Anyway, it's a good record but I am sure I would need more listens to like it more.

Didn't really like this one

7/10, with two stand out tracks.

I'm still undecided about this album. Whilst some tracks I found groovy and catchy, others were so repetitive and dull. I get what they were trying to do with interludes and breaks, tying the album up into a free flowing show. But for me, there were too many dud tracks to rate it any higher than a 3.

Some amazing highs, but a little bloated for me 3.5/5

A couple of good tracks, but otherwise not really for me, a lot of tracks that just felt like mucking about.

Few nice tracks on here.

5/16, 31%

Only knew their hits, assumed they were too smooth for me, but kinda like the album, much variety and weirdness.

Enjoyable, but it's too long as it trails off after BOB.

Pretty fresh but fades massively, gasoline dreams and ms Jackson are great

♪ I'm sorry Miss Jackson ♪ ♪ I am four eels ♪ ♪ Never meant to make your daughter cry ♪ ♪ I am several fish and not a guy ♪ I like these gentlemen, but I think they skipped the "how to not make your album insanely bloated" class, because both this and "Speakerboxx/The Love Below" are like 3x longer than they should be. Has some crazy catchy songs though.

Follow of the album is unique Seems to be structured like play or a book songs flow well into each other the only stand out song is Ms Jackson Overall a very average and dull album

OutKast is awesome but I really wish they’d trimmed down their albums

Not nearly as good as Speakerboxxx Love Below... Still don't like skits on albums... But undeniably charming, and some good bangers on here.

Really liked the hits, everything else was kind of ok but sounded very similar to each other

Get really hyped by some of the hits and some songs that just flow really well. Album has too much filler and interludes to be enjoyable as music for me.

The hits are great and Andre 3000 has an amazing style and flow. As an album it was a bit much tough. A bit too long, a bit too much energy, a bit too incosistent I guess

Yeah, I still don't love it. There are some brilliant moments for sure, but it feels forced with none of the magic of their first three or the audacity of Idlewild. At least Speakerboxxx/The Love Below outright owned the schism. "B.O.B." and "Gasoline Dreams" are absolute bangers though! And the reason I give it a 3 instead of a 2.5.

I had this album

Beetje veel van hetzelfde.

It actually aged better than I had thought it would but this was a much longer album than I wanted to hear based. It was fine, they’ve got talent and high energy. Humble Mumble stuck out as the track I wasn’t familiar with prior to this listen that I really enjoyed. B.O.B. still holds up an an absolute banger. Thought it was cool to see Killer Mike from Run The Jewels made an appearance on here. The interludes are terrible, waste of time, not funny at all, I almost want to give a 2 based on those alone but I think there’s more than enough here to justify a strong 3 stars

Not my normal music but really good album. Some tracks seems to be unnecessarily explicit but a few absolute quality tracks. Worth some more listens.

I can see what makes them iconic, dynamic and unconventional beats, melody, top notch rapping, and different tempos, a rarity for many rappers. But the sound is not something I vibe to and for over an hour with the vocals being a tad irritating, I can only keep this at a 3 stars.

Fairly varied in tone and beats. I'm not knowledgeable enough in the genre to be a great critic but some themes didn't resonate with me but I did hear some good rhymes and flow. Would listen to a few tracks again. Favourite tracks Gasoline Dreams and Bombs over Baghdad.

I'm sorry Ms Jackson was on this album so that's always a good thing. There were some good songs some that weren't my favorite, so yeah.

I have heard of these artists but don't recall hearing their music. This album is excellent. Quite a few different styles influence and inform the compositions, and the performances and recordings drew me in. Some catchy and fun stuff, and some deeper and intricate layers happening.

Some. great hits in there but didn't love every song.

- Ms Jackson is the standout for me - But overall, just not my style. The intros and segues between songs are really neat. I think it’s artistically a great album, but not something I would listen to regularly

Wow, Stankonia and good kid, m.A.A.d city in the same week?! I don't love southern rap, but the hits on this album are hiiiiits. Even Ms. Jackson, which I used to hate as a kid hits different today. Standouts: So Fresh, So Clean, Ms. Jackson, B.O.B., Humble Mumble

Started to get into it in the second half! Very eclectic

Some bangers no doubt. A little long, but good

If it was based on sound alone I'd give this 5 stars. But it loses one for the overuse of THAT word and another for a combination of sexism and two foul songs. One is Snappin' and Trappin' which has vile misogyny courtesy of guest talker Killer Mike. The other is the song I was looking forward to which had Cee-Lo. Don't listen to it. The beat is a confused mess.

For some reason when it went to the YouTube version of this album, it only listed 10 tracks on the album. Once the 10 tracks had played, I was amazed and thrilled by how short it was, and how full of bangers. Then there was a blip and it continued to play. So there was more. And more. In fact, 55 minutes more. After the 10 tracks, I was willing to give it a 4.5 I was so excited. But the more sprawling, meandering and bloated it became my score dropped. I love what they were trying to do on this album and the fact that it cannot be categorised is a bonus, but the middle lost me. It rallied at the end and won me back but I’m squarely in the middle.

"I'll Call..." and "So Fresh, So Clean" are really good tracks. I like Andre's vocal sound even if I don't care much for this genre's vocal style. But if there is a good musical hook to a track, then I'm good.

I don't like rap, but this is pretty good. I think it's because they commit to a melody in each song. They are all identifiable without the lyrics. So Fresh, So Clean is just good. I don't care who you are. It does go way too long. I got tired of it.

I had my little guys in the house with colds all weekend so spinning an album full of F bombs was tricky. I like that they brought more melody to rapping which was an important part of the transformation. I couldn’t listen to enough of it to move the rating away from the middle.

Ms. Jackson has always been a favourite of mine, and Gasoline Dreams is a great aggressive starter. This is more musical that a lot of rap and the non-explicit lyrics gets a thumbs up from me.

For me this is probably the most listenable and accessible hip hop album ever. I always liked Outkast’s playful melodies and beats. A fun listen

Okay, here we go again: This was long. It had some great beats and good funk. There was some distressing content. There were some witty rhymes.

otra gran sorpresa!! me gustó aparte ahora conozco el contexto de matty braps diciendo me and your dawwwwta 7.5/10

This was better than most of the hip hop I've listened to. There is some variety and other genres explored.

Not my stuff, but there was something good

As far as hip hop goes it's pretty good, but not really my thing. I can appreciate that this is a very solid album though if you do like that sort of thing. 3 stars.

its a good album although i dont like rap that much ;)

Given their massive chart successes I found this album a challenge. Having only ever heard their radio edits, or 'pop' songs, the language and tone of the skits and interludes didn't sit right with me, so struggled disassociate them with the light-hearted image. A decent record nonetheless.

fun me n your daughter

Trop long. Ms Jackson et B.O.B. sont des incontournables, les collaborations avec B-Real et Killer Mike sont intéressantes, mais dans l'ensemble, je préfère Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. On sent qu'on s'en va là.

Normal foreword. Not a fan of the rap genre. I liked the album from a technical point... Well mixed between vocals and music. Some reasonably good story telling. Would not walk out if they were playing

Has some absolute bangers and then some hella filler.

its funny

turned pretty ok after 10 tracks

couple of bangers

It's OK - though so fresh so long

It’s OutKast. I don’t really need to say more. It was definitely my first introduction to the group when I was a kid. This isn’t my favourite of their records but even some of their worst stuff is better than most other people’s stuff. B.O.B is still one of the biggest bangers of all time!

When you can remold stanky into a rallying cry, then you've done something. This is a freak flag flying and building the way for so many others to just do their version of weird.

Again, it's just too long - if an album is over an hour long, it really needs to justify it and this doesn't quite manage it. The opening 5 tracks are brilliant, it flows brilliantly, there's some real changes of pace and style, Andre 3000's rapping in particular is brilliant. But then it starts getting a bit scrappy, it doesn't flow as well, and there's some weaker songs. The interludes work when there's a really good song either side, but not so much when it's their less good stuff. 3/5 for me, would easily be a 4 if they trimmed it to a tight 45.

Really strong first half, more pop but they do it really well, but unfortunately the albums starts to drag in the second half. It felt like I was listening to bonus tracks near the end. Not bad, but clearly not as good as ATLiens and Aquemini

Way too long of an album, but some interesting moments. A good pop rap album that I'll probably never listen to again

A lot of bangers, but too long. 35 minutes out of the 1h15 are really worth it

Maybe my least favorite album by OutKast, a hip-hop act that I really like. I can't explain why this one made its way to the 1001 and not ATLiens or Aquemini, but here it is. This one, Stankonia, is half and hour too long. With a duration of 1h15, it completely lost my attention at a certain point. Still... There's some good beats, catchy hooks and great flow out there. 3 stars.

Love the hits on this album (B.O.B., So Fresh, So Clean, Ms. Jackson) and the Killer Mike feature. The rest of the tracks and skits seem like filler and don’t do much for me. But the hits are REALLY strong.

I am beginning to appreciate hip-hop

This is another one where i give them credit for diversity and creativity, though in general it is not for me. Ms. Jackson is easy to like, but most of the rest is a bit too hip-hopity for me.

Worse, than I thought. Couple of hit songs. Rest is unbearable.

I think the variety is what makes it. Often the aspect of longer hiphop albums that I don't enjoy is that it can get a bit repetitive, but this mostly avoids that

Stanky

decent album, never heard it in its entirety before.

POV: You start your album by letting everyone know how horny you are, and you've got other stuff to say but mainly you're horny IDK

I enjoy the P-Funk goofiness of these guys, and they have a great gift for hooks, and Andre 3000 is a fantastic MC. But I don't know. The production of this album is really thin. And after a few songs I get tired of the frenetic pacing and delivery. Every time an Outkast song pops up on a mix I've excited to hear it. But this album, for me, anyway, just doesn't cut it. Nice to hear Killer Mike on that one track, though. Maybe we'll get some Run the Jewels on this list. Now there's a hip-hop duo I love.

Back in the early 2000s I discovered (and endlessly listened to) Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. At the time, I went back to check out other Outkast music. I didn't appreciate this album as much at the time as I did Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. The rap - electronic mix was totally lost on me at the beginning of this decade. I really enjoyed the interludes even though they make me recognize how white and unhip (as in hip hop hip) I am.

So this OK. Some great tracks, but they ain't half drowned out by the vast amounts of filler that doesn't really add anything of any worth. If this was cut down to 6 or 8 tracks it'd be great.

liker hey ya bedre

Gets an additional star for Miss Jackson, but otherwise sounds like just another rap album, sorry!

After a generation of rap sampling funk, was this the first post-funk rap album? As I write this, I can't help but think that this is an intellectual reach to far. But there is a lot about this album that goes beyond a mere shoehorning of rap sensitivities into a funk sample. I bought this on the strength of "Ms Jackson", and didn't really like it. Now, it warms the cockles in a surprisingly non-nostalgic way. Different bases, true, but I think Kendrick Lamar (amongst others) owes this album quite a bit.

What a peaky record. 'Gasoline Dreams' hits harder than I remembered, and the lineup of singles is great: 'So Fresh, So Clean', 'Ms. Jackson' and 'B.O.B.'. The lows are quite low - looking at you 'We Luv Dees Hoez'... - but THAT PRODUCTION. Insane to induce frisson by the sound of pouring a drink. As a cherry on top, it's always nice with a bit of Killer Mike and Cee-Lo.

Just enough good tracks to keep this boat afloat. I can’t comprehend that a group who can produce a beat like the one on Ms Jackson can also produce something as ridiculous as Snappin’ & Trappin’. Also contains 7 interludes too many. Best: So Fresh / Ms Jackson / B.O.B. / Humble Mumble Worst: Snappin’ / I’ll Call B4 I Cum / Toilet Tisha Low 3, borderline 2.

Surprised how long I left this on. Some good, some bad songs on it.

Doesn't Stank.

first listen rock adjacent hiphop

FUnky and extremely well produced

Not a fan of rap, but as far as rap goes, I thought it was a fine listen. It does get monotonous at times, it's a long album, so I think I'd be better suited to shorter doses at a time.

A couple of classics on this one. The rest are ok, long album.

I certainly won't deny the influence of this album. You can hear a combination of styles and genres (funk, southern rap, hip-hop, disco etc) on just about any song you choose (except for all those skits), and it's done so coherently and accessibly that it's clear these guys were on the top of their game at this point. However, what this album lacks for me is a real central theme. Good (and in some cases great) songs perpetuate the album, but it sounds like these guys had a lot of different, insignificant things to say. For me, what makes an album great is its underlying message; an easily identifiable motivating factor behind the music. Sure, this album has common musical themes, but quick-tongued raps and beats just gets a bit tiresome over 75 minutes when there's not really anything holding it together. Still, like I said, this is a good album. I just can't call it great.

Savna hey ya Like egentlig outkast men blei litt mange songa hehe

Though there are some great tracks here, not 100% of them worked for me. Good album, interesting evolution of OutKast, but not 100 from start to end.

Bien. Outkast, rap, pero no me ha encantado. 3

I really liked 3/4 of it. Great energy and creativity. Not a 4 cause the 1/4 I didn’t like, I really didn’t like.

There are some great tracks on here.

Four of these tracks are on constant rotation (BOB, Humble Mumble, So Fresh So Clean, Ms Jackson). I had forgotten why I don't listen to the whole thing anymore, but it all came back. The rest is a VERY mixed bag, sometimes veering into terrible (We Love Deez Hoez). Still a deserving entry for this list.

above average rap album would give it a 3.5 if i could

Really inventive and creative with some great songs. But seems a bit bloated for me.

Some classic songs. Overall though, the album was just ok.

Love it but at 24 tracks, it's too long (even if 7 are interludes).

Niet helemaal geluisterd, maar klonk best aardig

Pretty good

Had some ok songs though a lot were just annoying. Lyrics very so so. Not sure why albums need to be 1h 13 mins

Oh, the days when every single hip-hop album had skits. What was that about? I kind of struggled with this album, since it feels to me more like two albums blended together. One is socially minded, has a purpose, and is focused. This album includes tracks like 'B.O.B. - Bombs Over Baghdad', 'Humble Mumble', 'Spaghetti Junction', 'Xplosion', and '?'. The tracks are musically and lyrically dense and each is full of enough dimension and depth to keep them fresh for years. The other album is sophomoric, goofy, and full of "get my stank on" innuendo (or worse). I'm thinking of tracks like 'Snappin' & Trappin'', 'We Luv Deez Hoez', and all the skits. On the whole, it is a great hip-hop/rap album that pushes the boundaries and challenges pre-conceived notions. I do think it would've benefitted from being 8-10 tracks lighter, but I can also appreciate that the group was probably having a great time being in full control of their recording process.

Some tracks are so fresh and clean, other leave me ice cold.

Already done this one: "Good album obscured by really painful skits. The rise of Spotify should at least mean the death of the Chumbawumba effect and the skit."

reikejo kalt zvairio pirma

If you like Rap this album might be for you but it was not for me

I dunno why but this time I'm not too jazzed about OutKast. I thought the concepts of the previous albums on the list were stronger. Also the intro song really set the mood to be eye-rolling. Bombs over Baghdad is the standout, but not sure what this song is really saying.

I enjoyed about half of the record, but that doesn’t mean the rest is bad, just not my thing. I actually think the whole album is pretty good for what it is. Hip hop with a bit of funk. Are the interludes necessary?

3/7/22 Fun album. Didn’t love it but it wasn’t bad. Mrs. Jackson is by far the best song, but I had heard two others before. The interludes included in this album are cool, never seen that in an album before. Makes me feel like I’m watching late night Nick lol! Favorite Song: Mrs. Jackson

Love the cover but I'm not sure the music will be for me. The title does not appeal and looking at the track list we have almost all explicit songs, except, oddly, "Toilet Tisha". A healthy sprinkling of interludes. Sigh. I have never listened to any Outkast but I'm quite sure I should so here we go. Gasoline Dreams sounds great, clear message well delivered, and very listenable. So Fresh, So Clean is, dare I say it, fun. Ms. Jackson I am sure I've heard before, which is really saying something, must have been quite a hit. Then there's a stretch of songs that sound great but the content isn't quite as compelling to me. Goodness this is a long album. I don't love every song but I do recognize that they are all quality. Lots of humor and plenty of variety while still sounding like an album. I enjoyed this album *much* more than I was expecting to. Favorites: Gasoline Dreams, So Fresh, So Clean, Slum Beautiful (the music makes me think of Lizzo).

similar to the last album but I don't like the filler as much 3.5

Surprisingly enjoyable given their most popular song.

Good album by OutKast. Ms.Jackson is timeless. Bit too long though

Definitely better on the second listen. Stand out tracks - So, Fresh, So Clean - Ms. Jackson

Not a huge hip-hop fan to start with. I can admit that some of these songs are total bangers. Some are huge misses for me. And I can't stand the interludes. Without them it would no doubt be my highest rated hip-hop album so far. With them, I think it's still my highest rating hip-hop album. But it could've been better (to me.)

Breakthrough hits, innovative structures, lots of variety, rarely a dull moment.

Strong 3, Funky and fun lyrics, also this man needs to go to horny jail

Not bhed

Haiku: Couple of nice songs, I quite liked the interludes, Album is too long. 5/10

I had low expectations, but it exceeded my expectations. Probably won't come back to it for a while, but definitely expanded my understanding of OutKast, beyond the one song that everyone knows.

Never heard this one before but brilliantly produced. I can hear the artistic vision behind this and can clearly see how this has influenced the rap genre.

Ms. Jackson was the first Outkast songs I remember hearing from them. I loved it. What a great and unique sound they had. So Fresh and So Clean was pretty good too, BoB ok. This was the first time I heard the album though. They have a great sound. The explicit lyrics bring it down a peg for me though. Still a really great album. 3/5.

Kinda trash apart from only a couple of songs

Couple of hits I recognized that were good. Otherwise too long and just ok. Hip hop is just not my thing.

first listen ever to this album - lots to take in and very ambitious! It made a good first impressions and I will go back and listen again to fully unlock and appreciate.

Pretty diverse and interesting album

Some jams, some wak

It's fine, I'm kinda vibing but it's not my favorite

Love Ms Jackson

Has multiple bangers

I feel like there are a couple of OK songs on here. I like some of their music, but it's just not my thing I guess.

Just not my thing.

Not a bad album. Obviously has the hits I remember from its launch but found a few other songs that I liked. I don’t like all the interlude tracks but realize this is pretty common for this genre.

Jekyll and Hyde album. First half is superb and the second is terrible.

Enjoyed to an extent

-Nice to hear an album from a new genre! -Surprisingly long tracklist (a lot of interludes) -I enjoy Outkast, Andre 3000 has a unique voice and the group has cool beats that make you wanna move -A lot of the songs are fast pace which I really like, it makes me want to mosh and jump around -Favourite songs are Gasoline Dreams, Ms Jackson, B.O.B., We Love Deez Hoez, Gangsta Sh*t

Good album obscured by really painful skits. The rise of Spotify should at least mean the death of the Chumbawumba effect and the skit.

Hip hop. Rap

Meh. Bit too shouty. Sorry Miss Jackson is a banger.

This is a quintessential 2000s hip hop album and it certainly feels like an encapsulation of the era in which it was made. Ms. Jackson is still a classic to this day and the bars in each song still hold up for the most part. I liked it but it’s not my favorite era of hip hop/rap. Fav songs: gasoline dreams, ms. Jackson, bombs over Baghdad

Ms. Jackson er god. Inspo til tyler nogle gange. Fint. Ultra OG hip-hop kultur. Vildt forskellige numre. Nice breaks

Rap, hip/hop sin muchos miramientos. Con bases típicas del estilo de música. Sin destacar especialmente, no es tan intenso como otros. Para escuchar en alguna ocasión.

In retrospect, not as good as I remember, despite So Fresh, So Clean, BoB and Ms. Jackson.

Not too shabby. Never listened all the way through

Intro- oooh cheeky, suggestive women moaning! A nice bit of 60's esque organ and promises of a Gasoline Dreams- blaring fuzzed out guitar riff, tight breakbeat, impassioned vocals, strong opening after foreboding intro I'm Cool (Interlude)- palate cleanser So Fresh, So Clean - Silky smooth slice of R&B. They sing the hook in octaves, with falsetto! Electric piano plays the hook through the whole song and there are lovely string swells. Bass drops in and out. It's very mid-tempo, could cruise along to it. Although at face value, lyrics about someone being fresh, clean and sexy aren't quite as visceral as preceding track. But who cares? It's dope. Ms Jackson- Here we go! We're in it now, boys! The track getting all the love and praise 20 years on. The one I'd heard. I think of Mrs Jackson from my high school who taught Maths and Economics and probably thought Stankonia was The drums are brilliant in this- there are great gated rolls that hit every now and again, and stop-start beat with the vocals every now and then. So far- loving it. This is on track to be at least 4* The instrumentation is very organic I love the tone of their voices Snappin & Trappin - this isn't doing as much for me. Features Big Boi and not Andre- does this mean I'm an Andre 3000 man? I cringe at the crude lyrics like the sheltered prude I am - you may be a big boi but do we really need to know about what girls do to your dick? Spaghetti Junction - The retro skipping/mixing sound effects- was this knowingly retro and ironic back in 2000 or was it still a done thing? I like the brass samples but not much else here. I'm concerned this is falling down Kim & Cookie - Don't know what they're trying to achieve with these interludes... I'll Call B4 I Cum - Blimey, I'm too old for this. But wait- wow! They're being respectful! They are saying "after you" and it's 2000. The music sounds like a CASIO keyboard. BOB - This is excellent. Listen to that thumping bass! It's actually a little overpowering... so boomy... but I love the little bass riff that comes in with the chorus Xplosion - Is that harpsichord?!?! Musically, this feels a bit more in line with BOB and Gasoline Dreams. Apocalyptic... doom... catchy. I like this direction more. And that brilliant bass tone from BOB is back! We Luv Deez Hoes - please tell me this is ironic. And I'm missing a joke. (30 seconds in) Nope. Sarcastic or not, it's bad and just a bit tedious. I don't even like the music very much. All the good three tracks before is undone. Andre isn't here again! I must prefer him. Humble Mumble - I like the phrasing in the chorus. The keyboards are giving a nice mellow bed. Some really great drums kick in around 1:40. With an amazing flow. Drinkin Again- Quite a funny interlude! I almost smiled. ? - This is annoying because I've always wanted to do this for an album. It sounds brilliant. There are lots of questions. And what could almost be a theremin in the background. The production is dense. Bewildering. And stops to pour a drink and play an arcade game. Then piano! And filtered drums! And a complete change for the outro. Red Velvet - Was that Kate Bush?! (I googled and it was) Other than that this was a really boring track Gangsta Sh*t - I'm getting bored now. A lot of this album feels quite disappointingly generic. The first few tracks set me up for a lot of genre mash-ups and experimentation which hasn't quite stuck it out. All big singles in first half hour, were all great. Toilet Tisha - Just isn't justifying its length now. Slum Beautiful - Nope. Stankonia - With all the powers of my critical faculties, I can offer the insightful and balanced assessment that... I was bored. It had overstayed its welcome. I'd have cut this way down. 3 Likes: Gasoline Dreams Ms Jackson BOB 3 Strikes: Deez Hoes Toilet Tisha Those interludes Fave Track: BOB Least Fave Track: Deez Hoes Will I Listen Again? Yes! I'd like to get more into this but I think it's unlikely to be a classic for me, despite the potential I heard at the start. I'll listen and hope the second half will open up. Still prefer it to lots of hip-hop I know.

// Favs: Ms Jackson Score: Decent 3

Not my thing. I feel like if I knew more about hip-hop, I would appreciate this more. 2.7/5

Some great lyrics, however, the after 1 listen the album didn't grab me.

Not as good as anticipated

better musically crafted tunes than I thought, but don't like the language and sexual content.

Sicherlich ein gutes HipHop-Album…

OutKast halt. Unverwechselbar. Wichtiger Bestandteil meiner nicht interessen

Nice album with an array of different sounding tracks. Bit long though; and I still don’t understand skits

Had never listened to the album straight through. What an experience.

Not bad 😎😎

Enjoyed it more than i thought I would. Mrs Jackson overplay over the years made me dislike them previously, but the rest of the album got me bopping

Too much going on for me

No está mal. Pero no es el disco de Law

I only really knew Ms Jackson before this listen. It’s kind of an outlier. Big Boi is good but Andre 3000 is unreal. He’s in my top 5 rappers. A list I admittedly have yet to compile. I liked So Fresh, So Clean. I finally understand what my wife has been singing whenever I have a shower.

Long album, good tracks.

This is a solid album by Outkast, when they fully established their sound in a newer era. I unfortunately prefer their earlier stuff, but this is known as one of their best. I'm only giving this a 3 because they have better.

Imagine throwing two of the biggest hits of the genre side by side on an album full of bits. Was this Killer Mike's first big thing, the feature? You can tell Gambino listens to this. Weird as hell and I think I liked it- also how much did it make you miss Jonathan, I know you live with him but I was straight up focused trying not to fall apart to Ms Jackson while dancing

Fav Song: So Fresh, So Clean

Классический реп 90х. Один трек я узнал

Great album, even though im not a fan of hi-hop or rap OutKast always makes it enjoyable.

Cool, but not really my bag, man.

I liked 9 songs, its long album though with lots of interludes, so I didn't like over half the album. 3/5

Yes it is good, but a bit overrated. Except some songs that are totally banging!

very long and more filler than anything, the good songs were good but dragged on. by no means awful but i think outkast is more of a two hit wonder than regular listening

Well, my honest opinion is that the best part of this album was when it finally came to an end. Back in the day, "Ms. Jackson" was a cool track, but I'm so burned out on that song now that it actually annoys me. The entire album pretty much felt the same way, with only a few enjoyable moments here and there. This was definitely a popular album when it came out, but Outkast is one of those artists where I've always felt they had a good handful of hits, and then the rest of their music was just sloppy filler meant to fill out the rest of the album.

- I like the hits, but despite the fun beats and variety in the sounds throughout, I found the songs to be kind of dull filler and/or misogynistic. I definitely wanted more memorable melodies. - The album went on way too long. It actually caused me to take a break from this project for the week because this showed up on a Monday, and I kept not wanting to listen to it all the way through. - My other gripe is that, although I like Andre's voice, I couldn't really understand the lyrics a lot of the time. - Shout out to the popping sound on the word "pop" in "I won't just pop up over, out the blue".

I knew this album would be a chore to get through. Good thing I had all weekend. A few hits that I can moderately tolerate. B.O.B. excluded (I do enjoy that one). The rest of the album was a big miss. Nothing made me feel like I was missing anything.

From a non-rap fan, pretty OK. Music saves the lyrics (which is iddm since the lyrics are what should lead the genre). Oh well...

Non il mio genere

It’s fine but didn’t do much for me when it came out and that feeling hasn’t changed.

Really wanted to like this album. Didn’t. One good track raised it from a single star.

There are a few songs that standout and I really like, but overall it leaves a lot to be desired. Most of it is stereotypical early 2000's hip-hop. Period stuff with skits, and raunchy interludes just for the sake of it. It maintains a consistent enough vibe throughout, with the exception of "Toilet Tisha" that took an unexpectantly dark turn that I was not down with. I just don't see what the big deal is with this record.

Ein Album voller Ideen, aber selten voller Songs. Vieles wirkt wie ein wilder Sprint ins Experiment, manches war fast hörbar – doch am Ende bleibt mehr Chaos als Klasse.

unsure why this one is on the list

Wasn't really my thing

Some undeniably good music, but after the first 5 tracks, including the hits, it becomes a bit of a bore to get through.

I’m a non-hip hopper, but I didn’t think this was so bad.

I just don't care for the unnecessarily vulgar and sexual songs and interludes. Just not something I enjoy. That said, the beats are lyrics are mostly well done and fun. I don't think I like this as much as their other albums, but this has more hits that I recognize from my youth. Style is very familiar to their hits, but different from the other albums I've heard. Album is too long. I lost interest for the last half hour or so.

This listen was hard to grade. On one hand it pioneered a lot of production styles, I can hear childish gambina in this record. But on the other, there was a lot of misogyny within this track and it's incredibly dated. 4/10

Get why it's here, glad I listened, didn't really enjoy it

Not my favorite genre Lowkey a vibe

I was excited for this one as I knew it would be funky. Only problem is that it basically all sounded the same, with Ms. Jackson being the standout.

Would have to relisten to see if any songs I like. I don’t really like the 90s rap style.

A few hits

Didn’t love it but it wasn’t too unbearable

diverse genres en muzikale invloeden, met vlagen sterke teksten, maar uiteindelijk gewoon een te lang album met onnodige interludes dat me net niks deed

Який би він не був оригинальний, все ж репчик не моє)

"So Fresh, So Clean" was good. The rest of the songs were trash

It’s definitely not a bad album but I just didn’t really care for it.

Música de negros, no me fascina para nada.

good beats! hip hop isn’t my fav to listen to but interesting to branch out!

No, I dont like this album as the previous OutKast I had in this challenge. Im usually not having any issues with long records, but this unfortunately felt too long.

This album isn’t for me.

Sigh...why? I'm getting repeat artists and that doesn't seem necessary.

Unique, but for me "Meh"; listened twice to see what I might have missed.

Not exactly looking forward to this, but let's go Okay, so...I'm not gonna give this a 1 just because this is just so out of my normal listening sphere that it doesn't feel fair to. This type of stuff just isn't for me tho, like...I just don't think it ever will be? I'm sorry. I'll try whatever's on this list, whatever friends recommend, etc, but still nothing within this style has really stuck with me yet.

There's a lot to like on this album, particularly in the features, but there really is something I find extraordinarily uninteresting about Outkast. They really don't make music for me, and I feel like Andre 3k and Big Boi (whose voice I couldn't pick out of a crowd for the life of me) get outshone bye a lot of people here, namely Killer Mike, Gangsta Boo and B-Real. Even if it does get better as it goes on, and there are some really high highs, it just feels like such a slog to get through. I wish I could understand the hype around this, I just don't Favorites: So Fresh, So Clean, B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad), Humble Mumble

This wasn’t too bad as hip hop goes, not too many aversive noises and quite varied, but it went on way too long. 2.5

Like their other album on this list, I feel somewhat short changed. 73 minutes of self-indulgent rubbish. This time, the tiny saving grace is Ms. Jackson but, frankly, it's not as good an exchange.

Rapp. But not too bad.

no me gustó mucho la verdad, salvando a mr Jackson lo demás como que no me llegó

Not my vibe. ★★

It’s funky and I appreciate the rapid-fire rapping.

I like some Outkast songs but overall this wasn’t my favorite album.

2/5. Disappointed, had some goods but it was overall not great. Too much sex.

i'm trying to like rap & hip hop but i'm finding it hard snappin' & trappin' one of the most horrible songs ive ever listened to but the rest of it was alright might have rated this higher if i didn't feel a bit overwhelmed by rap lately - i can see why it's good but i just didnt really enjoy listening to it and it was looong

So fresh and so clean & Ms Jackson are great songs on a very average album

2+ Stars (6/15)

I 've heard this album a couple of times. Musically upbeat with manic vocals that sound like they're on crack. All in all, not much I liked about it. I suppose 'Bombs over Baghdad' stands out for me but apart from that, I wouldn't return to it. Just too busy and references to things I don't relate to,

Decent 2. I was familiar with the 3 hire from this album but not much else. “Ms. Jackson” and “So Fresh, So Clean” feel nostalgic and fun for me. Overall, it was okay. “Humble Mumble” was my fave.

This is not my kind of music, but there were some songs on this album that I really liked – BOB, XPlosions, Hilble Mumble. The music was interesting on those songs. However, many songs were vulgar and turned me off. I also got tired of the album and stopped after “only“ 20 songs. An album that had potential but shot itself in the foot.

не моє... занадто жорстоко та мізогінно.. although, «Ms. Jackson» це слейно, це знайома база.

Respect the diversity of tracks and musical stylings, but did not enjoy it. Way too much funky and r&b. Liked Spaghetti Junction and Gangsta Shit as kinda more traditional rap songs, but nothing special. Ms Jackson is what it is, BOB was kinda neat, but overall not a fan.

uh what was that Anne Frank attic bar nice bassline on ms jackson why does this album have so many interludes ok spaghetti junction is fire S.J. so good it requires an interlude before AND after b4 I cum is making me realize I can't relate to this album and therefore my experience is lessened i figure this album requires more attention than I'm honestly willing to give yeah honestly I felt nothing and the album barely entertained me the whole way through

I don't really like rap that much. It just sounded better when they weren't rapping but just funking and fucking around. Interludes are sick though. Class of 3000 somehow has better songs then most of this album which I think just shows that Andre 3000 what the good one out of this duo. In fact I found myself wishing the album was just the interludes and Andre repeating his lines over and over solo. I'd say a 2.5-3 I might try giving it more of a chance. When the beats are abrasive, strange, and trippy they sound really good. But most of the time I find myself not really bobbing my head but just kind of letting the music fly past me. If every song was like everything after "?" then it would be a 5/5. I feel like this album was ruined by rap cliches and a lack of funk. If this album was made in 1992 then it would be a 5/5 which is kind of funny

2/5 not for me

Some good tunes, but overall not really my vibe. Really liked B.O.B, though.

Not my cuppa tea.

Algunas canciones estuvieron buenas pero no es mi estilo.

difícil ratear no es mi estilo

Was expecting more because I’ve heard so much about how fantastic OutKast are. I’ve had their other album already and I thought it was okay but this one just wasn’t for me. Too long and I had rap albums with those interlude/skit things, they annoy me. Ms. Jackson is great and that’s about the only song I really liked on this

Well this was definitely better than 'Speakerboxxx/The Love Below'. However, other than a few songs, I still wasn't a fan. The interludes felt unnecessary and overdone, and a lot of the songs went on for far too long. Their were some questionable lyrics throughout the album, but I was very impressed by the subject and lyrics of 'Toilet Tisha'. Two stars. (Favorite track: Mrs. Jackson.)

Ei menttaalitila jaksanu nyt yhtään tällästä, kai nykyskidit tälläst diggaa mut tämmönen kalkkis ku mä, mä en tsennaa tällasest melust yhtään mitään, dorkaa ja karmeeta, tuu points

I confess I skimmed through several tracks. Many of the songs are inventive and playful, with some great beats. But some of the lyrics were off putting and a little gross for my taste.

Their fourth album. Hip Hop. Good production and some okay beats. Mostly though it's jusy shouty shit. Half an hour too long at best and to be honest it's so boring !

not a rap fan but i appreciated some of the funky beats

Not really my thing

Sorry not my style but I’m Sure it is for others, thx!

??? Schon ok..c

A couple good tunes but not my favourite rap album or style.

This album was okay. Definitely reminds me of the early 2000s.

2⭐️ I gave it a good go but lots of this album I really did not enjoy listening to :( really didn’t like the first half, picked up a bit in the middle imo, but wasn’t a fan of the interludes songs I already knew: ms jackson fave new song(s): so fresh, so clean

Alum 4/1001. Listened 1/9/2026. Not my favorite genre, but I'm glad I listened to it.

4/10 I dislike this with a very deep emotion, one that is incomprehensible of how this can be enjoyed. But I guess there is a Kendal of something here in the bad or the odd melody, the occasional trip of rhythm. But now I'm listening to Travis - the true opposite in music to the overly sexualised, tedious lyrics, the phat smugness and Those BLOODY SKITS! They suck so bad, it causes me physical pain. Bloody Travis. See what you've done, Outkast? Bellends.

Very long album. A lot of futuristic stuff going on, not my fav thing in rap. There’s some rlly fast rapping here, they’re talented tbf. Fav song is ‘Ms. Jackson’.

I'll probably stick to the few songs I already know and like.

I didn't finish it, but what i listened to was better than the other ones we've listened to However that doesnt really make it better in my eyes I give it a 2

Fav song: Ms Jackson Least fav song: We Luv Deez Hoez, Good Hair, I'll Call b4 I Cum, Kim & Cookie, Snappin' & Trappin' Overall ranking: 1.83/5 -> Round up to 2 Overall Review: DNF, Icl there were a few songs i liked, but some of them jst lacked something idkkk i cant put my finger on it. i’m sorry miss jackson

Muutama hyvä, mutta ei oikeen lähteny ollenkaan

Not something I’d usually listen to and something I probably won’t listen to again but it was fun while it lasted!

got like three good songs on but the rest are actively not good

Mrs Jackson Held Up. The Rest Were Okay, Some I Might Like More With Further Listening And Others I Won’t Listen To Again. The Songs Just Repeat The Same Words Again and Again And It’s Quite Boring After A While. There Was A Couple With A Good Vibe But Most Of The Time I Was Just Waiting For It To Be Over 2 Stars 4th Of January

Too energetic for me. The only highlight was Ms. Jackson. Sorry, just not my cup of tea really

Not for me.

Hey Ya is one of my top like 10 favorite songs of all time. I can hear all of the components of that banger in this album, but I just don't feel it overall. Every track is both overwhelming and unsatisfying. It's gotta be one or the other.

ehh not for me i fear

Some bops for sure, not one I will reach for to put on or listen but it is a good album!

B.O.B. is great, some of the other stuff is thought provoking, and there's some funky experimentation on here, some weird beats you don't usually hear. Andre 300 does his signature sing-song stuff, which has appeal. But it's mostly immature rap tropes and a bit too long. Surprised that Robert Christgau gave this an 'A', I usually agree with him.

Obviously I knew Ms Jackson beforehand but this album is fiiiire!!!! Not my usual thing but B.O.B is for sure my favourite 😄 only issue is the songs are a little repetitive and I prefer albums with around 7-10 songs, 15+ a little too much for me to enjoy them all

1 or 2 OK tracks, but mostly shit.

There’s signs of brilliance, and the hits are great, but the album is four or five songs too long, and the interludes can go too. .

Stankonia just isn’t really for me. While there are undeniably some strong beats and moments of energy, the album leans heavily into familiar crime and gangster tropes that I find tiring rather than interesting. At 24 tracks and well over an hour long, it’s an exhausting listen that often feels like it’s dragging its feet. There’s a good album buried in here somewhere. Trim away a lot of the filler and Stankonia could easily be a sharp, punchy 10-track record. As it stands, though, it feels bloated and unfocused, with too much dross getting in the way of the highlights. That said, when OutKast get it right, they really do get it right. Tracks like B.O.B, Xplosion, and especially Ms. Jackson show just how strong they can be when the songwriting tightens up. Favourite tracks: Ms. Jackson (a genuinely superb song), B.O.B, Xplosion Least favourite track: Beyond the standouts, much of the album blends into overlong, forgettable filler Album artwork: A fairly standard hip-hop cover—functional, but nothing memorable

Not bad but didn’t hit me

I like Speakerboxxx/The Love Below quite a bit more

Other than Sorry Ms Jackson I didnt really like this, but it wasn't particularly bad. Super weird for sure though.

Pretty sure I’m not the target audience for this. At least I’ll never have to listen to it again. 2.5 * rounded down for overuse of MF. Next

Mrs Jackson and fresh and clean were pretty good but honestly didn’t really vibe with the rest of the songs

Not my genre.

It was alright, too rappy

Not for me

Some good songs at the start of the album, however towards the middle and end the quality dropped off.

This was ok. Well put together, but largely went over my head. I’m sure with more listens it becomes clearer, but I didn’t really connect with it.

Overall Rating - 2.09/5 (4.19/10). Not my taste, but obviously skillful.

Well that was a struggle. BREAK

There is a lot of fat to trim in this - meh

Two bangers

A bit of a disappointing album and really outstayed its welcome. Favourite tracks: Bombs Over Baghdad & Gasoline Dreams. Probably not one to revisit. 2.5/5

Not a terrible album but probably 45 minutes too long and full of fillers. Heard it before back in the day, didn’t need to hear it again.

I was expecting more from this, but it's only okay. A few decent songs, had obviously heard Ms. Jackson as well as B.O.B, but the rest was mostly forgettable or kind of bad. Another album filled with mostly skits between every song, but long and unfunny.

There were a few standout tracks but it didn’t really grab me at all
