Reviews (page 7 of 7)
No soy muy fanático del Krautrock. Es bien experimental, pero de repente es demasiado. Paso por esto.
good second half
This is some dark Krautrock. Again you have to be in the mood and I wasn't.
Too simple and kind of boring, it may have had some impact but as a listening experience I did not liked it
This type of music just does not hook me. Unobjectionable.
Not my thing too experimental.
Initial heavy music until I realized I was thinking of Feist. Baffling German noodle salad.
German kosmische musik is definitely not my style. The album has some fun moments but overall it's too weird for me.
meh.
Rock, mostly instrumental
Industrial German techno is a no.
Um no
What the hell
1/1
I was waiting for something to happen but then, all of a sudden, it didn't.
Horrible.
ye we get it ur so unique bro
I might have given it another review if someone slipped some acid into my drink, but right now, it just sounds like someone demo-ing some instruments. And not in a very good manner either.
1/5 Favorite Song: The Sad Skinhead
Just because it's experimental doesn't mean I have to listen to it.
Too difficult a listen for me, did not enjoy.
Giggy Smile was first track on album worth listening to and gave me hope but this was soon dashed. Not for me thank you.
not me
I saw the word krautrock and I got excited, but now I know that krautrock is just sounds like basic indie stuff.
To be honest I don’t exactly know what I just listened to. I’m all for experimenting in music, but I just found this unbelievably boring for the most part. There’s basically nothing memorable for me to take away.
Didnt get a chance to listen
Another one of those albums that the only way you are listening to this is if you are on drugs. Like its cool and experimental, but be so for real... no one is actually listening to this... 1/5
fuckin lame
I get that the quest for 1001 albums to listen to before you die should cover a diverse range of genres. So this album represents 'krautrock classic'. I don't think there is anything classic about it and it should more appropriately be considered sourkrout rock.
Someone needs to tell these guys they don’t need to record and release everything they play. There were a couple of almost songs but mostly sounded like people turning knobs on a synthesizer with random sound effects that sounded like the guy at the train station in the Frosty the snowman cartoon stamping tickets.
1.25 - I listened to this in the car and a few times, I thought I was breaking down. It turns out the song just had some unnatural and unnecessary elements. I can dig some of the experimental elements, but there wasn’t a lot here that I would want to hear again.
Bleh
This is a somewhat interesting riff. I know lets repeat it for 10 minutes and drill it into their head. Not my cup of tea
its not music, its just sound
Nebavilo ma to
Not for me
1. rock - 1 2. zad - 1 3. jennifer - 1 4. zecond - 1 5. zmile -0 6. lauft - 1.5 7. pain - 1.5
I dont like just how weird they went, like it barely felt like it had direction. This is like if zeppelin never kicked syd barrett.
This was a weird one. Did not like it.
No
Stuff like this is so bad but I guess I'm impressed they managed to sound like an entirely different (also boring) band every song
Definitely in the top 3 of German atrocities
just a second sounds too like an mri i didn’t like it
Eh, not feeling it. I may give it another go some other time. Just wasn't quite what I wanted to listen to.
Mitä tääkin täällä tekee
Pinnistelyä vaati että jaksoi kuunnella koko levyllisen. ⭐
I did not like this at all. Don’t know if it was my mood or the music or both, but blech, no thank you.
Did not like it. Its too instrumentsl and the rhythm i do not like it.
1 Track feels like a fever dream 2 Track better but not good
man what happened to the germans sorry if im a normie but this is too weird for me. some snippets of good music surrounded by dissonant noise and ear-grating sounds. i don't want to listen to it again
After listening to the first song, I was discomforted by the thought this was Faust 4, implying there were at least three more. Subsequently, giving a fair listen to the other songs, I appreciated the atmosphere but I can't ever imagine me saying this is what I want to listen to today Although I like a lot of stuff similar to it, krautrock is something I couldn’t fully get into. I don’t mind repetitive music as long as it goes somewhere, but the problem with krautrock for me is that it usually doesn’t build up to anything while also not layering or progressing the repetitions as much as I like. Look at something like Herbie Hancock. His songs have a lot of repetition, but the reason why they feel so good for me is because there is a lot of subtle detail and progressions that keep them exciting. Their repetitions also either build up to something big or slowly grow in intensity on their own. I feel that post rock is a logical evolution of krautrock and it feels a lot more exciting because of that. I just think it’s a genre that I should like, and I’m kind of annoyed I don’t enjoy it that much. I did like this album, though. It is repetitive but not really monotonous, and it had a lot of cool experimental stuff. Not something particularly exciting for me, because it’s krautrock, but still enjoyable. I might change this rating as I’m a little sleep deprived writing this, but overall a 1/5.
without interesting textures, krautrock is just ostinato run amok. meh.
I just don’t really
I got to the title of the last song while listening and thought "man, this is a bit of a pain." Then I turned it off. 1-1.5
Krautrock is a top tier genre name though
Music should be enjoyable.
didn't really vibe with it, not my style
didn't listen all the way thru - I made it past 2 songs and that was it. mhhh.
What occurred to me when searching through Apple Music to find this album is that all these ‘Krautrock’ bands have a massive discography requiring lot of scrolling to find what you want. Which is a wasted effort because when you select one album you could have selected any of the many others because they all sound the bloody same. Which leads me to believe that the reason their discography rivals War and Peace is down to thinking about one simple idea played on a synth and then putting that on a loop for as long as the ‘composer’ deems necessary to fill an album. The only addition needed then to relieve the boredom is to sample some random industrial sounds and insert them at a point where the listener is about to fall asleep. Simples! Wish I had thought of it back in the 70’s and I’d have been celebrating the release of my 1000’th album instead of writing inane stuff like this. 1/5 22/12/25
This album drags on for way too long. 11 minutes for a song that starts with a looped track then just keeeeeeps goiiiiiinnnngggggggg. This album might have been good if you grew up in the 60s and 70s and were on LSD when this album released. The Deluxe album has extended versions, and I promise it is not worth the extra time to listen to the same loop for an extra 3 minutes per song. It is quiet and repetitive, so maybe as background noise but it also feels too abrasive to not pay attention to. There is no flow between tracks. this album is just 20 different ideas mashed into over an hour of music. Dieses Album ist wirklich schlecht Stand out tracks: The Sad Skin Head - Started out strong then was kind of just meh. Jennifer - The first one minute was okay.... the middle 5 minutes was too many minutes... the last minute was unexpected and a nice change of pace. Giggy Smile - is the first time on this album that I felt like I was listening to a song that had thought put into it and not just a few guys in a studio for the first time playing with all the equipment.... oh no, one of them found a saxophone laying around. and they all forgot they were playing a song together. it just ends abruptly after 4 minutes of the same loop.... It's a bit of a pain - soothing..... and then its not. they discovered more knobs on the tape recorder that makes it make weird noises that don't belong in the song.
Ну не понимаю я такую музыку
deu me dores de cabeça
Absolute crud
What the fresh hell
Horrible.
Um, no.
I could not finish this album Faust enough! Thank you, I’ll see myself out
Couldn't make it until the end 🙉🤮
A whole lot of nothingness, and the parts with actual music were pretty joyless
This was straight up fucking noise to me. I feel like I would be more interested in this genre but I dunno man....
Очередной альбом какофонии
Ugh listened to this in the car and I forgot the album was playing at parts
Not for me
Wer es mag. Ich nicht!
Can someone enlighten me on what the hell this was and why I needed to hear it before I die!!
Why?
All of this sucked
Rough listen. I actually enjoyed “Jennifer” a good deal, but overall I felt like every time I was getting into a song, some more droning nonsense came in. Best Track: Jennifer
I like the instrumentals waaaaay better than those with vocals. That being said, I will never listen to this album or group again. It’s interesting but not interesting enough for me. I imagine a bunch of Germans were in someone’s basement during Oktoberfest when this was recorded.
More like shitrock. I’m all for weird left-of-center when it comes to music, and at times they nearly changed my mind with the injection of humor here and there into the songs. But overall it was just a Faustian waste of time.
Fuck. Off. I knew I was jumping into something back with the first song being almost 12 minutes of nonsense. I tried to give this a chance. I really did. But certain parts made my skin crawl like nails on a chalk board and even some songs that could be decent would be interrupted by obnoxious noise that hurt my ear holes. I spent too much time listening to this and writing my review.
The best part about this album is the name of the sub-genre it pioneered: Krautrock. I mean, not like I enjoy Krautrock, but the name is legit. Anyway, I thought maybe I would give this a 2*, but I didn't make it all the way through and don't have the energy to revisit. So.... 1.5/5
3/10 - I mean it's ok, long depressing riffs but it drags, it also put my wife in a bad mood so there's that
This album is like interviewing a serial killer who eats babies, just before they sit in the electric chair. It’s your last chance to try and understand their motives. They ask for a piece of paper and request to be left alone. Forty minutes later, you return to the room to find they’ve used the paper to cut the corners of their own mouth, and they have smeared their faeces on the wall to create an image that kind of looks like Hitler being crucified.
Not sure what this was or who it was aimed it. Sounded an awful lot like when a band first gets together and is setting up. Some people jamming over others while one guy is struggling with amp feedback. Maybe there is an audience for this kind of "music". I don't know. And frankly, I don't want to know.
What a terrible, terrible album. Just because some teenagers decided to make some noise, it doesn't have to be put on this list. Or would it be sufficient to land on this list by going into a school of 14 years old and record their noise?
Krautrock should stay in its jar at the back of the fridge to be forgotten about.
Nope. I couldn’t wait for this album to be over. Way too artsy-fartsy for me. How do you listen to “It’s a bit of a Pain” and not want to blow your ear drums out. Oh, you don’t have to, Faust does it for you with that obnoxiously loud … noise. Terrible record. Not for me
Boring and German. Yuck
Krautrock, 1973 -> 1-2
Honestly, I have no clue as to how this album made the list. It was primarily noise and it was not ambient noise. Limited coherence throughout. Not something I will recommend or listen to again.
Esto sólo es soportable si consumes ciertas sustancias que han quedado fuera de mi alcance. Esto es de ser muy snob y es insoportable hasta para los años 70 por mucho que quieran venderlo como vanguardia de algo.
Favorites: Jennifer Giggy Smile It's A Bit Of A Pain (except for the noise) The intro track, "Krautrock", is a lengthy epic soundscape - almost needlessly so. "Jennifer" lies to the listener, drastically changing tempo and feel twice. "Giggy Smile" does the same but in a more entertaining way. The album sounds like drivel mostly, though.
La verdad es que el disco es un tanto insoportable. La menos escuchada: Picnic on a frozen river es la que más chula está.
I dont like
Nonsense
Boring dreck so uninspiring that even half cut I have nothing to say about it.
Not my favorite genre. To harsh.
There is a lot of really good rock music out there, but you won't find any of it here. 1 star or F.
Droning, repetitive, lacking anything fun or memorable.
Krautrock...it's more than just a notification that what you're about to listen to is terrible for Faust...it's also the name of the opening track. I won't lie, this isn't that different from a number of other, non-German, art rock acts, maybe it's even better (for art rock, not in general). 12 minutes of a "sonic landscape" to kick things off, it manages to be both annoyingly repetitive and annoyingly surprising at the same time. The good news is now that it's over I'm a quarter of the way through the album. The only Krautrock I'm interested in is Autobahn. They are really playing with stereo on The Sad Skinhead. Krautrock is apparently just the German word for psychedelic music with found sound and industrial noises. Giggy Smile is the best song so far. The song with the really long German title sucks. This is an awful album. What is a bit of a pain is the random annoying noise over the middle of a song. And a second go at it.
Meh
Bueno
No dont get it, probably never will
shit
Nein.
Couldn't finish it, just funny sounds in funny orders that dont sound good together.
Weird ass album but kinda interesting Germans are always goofy tho Mid asf tbh 3/10
Actually unpleasant at times
not entirely bad but none of the songs really feel cohesive
Yikes
It might be good for some, but I did not enjoy
Sorry folks - that's just noise - 1973 and today.
Faust VI by Faust was great in testing my patience. Multiple times I thought to myself, "This isn't so bad; when there is no singing, the instrumental pieces are tolerable," and then the music turned discordant and unappealing. Or Faust even included beeps or whatever that nonsense was in "It's A Bit of a Pain." I don't know the point of this album or even its inclusion on this list. And I'm sour enough to give it a 1.
This was just awful noise
1/5 did not like the auditory sound of the album and couldn’t wait for it to be over
Noise is not music. Can we give negative stars?
So beyond boring
If Jennifer dumped these guys, I wouldn’t blame her.
Whatever
Es ist nicht sehr gut. Take one idea and run it repeatedly into a wall for 2 to 12 minutes: the album. Sometimes it made me sad that I have ears. Krautrock: If deep sea bioluminescence emitted sound, it might sound like this? Amorphous. The Sad Skinhead: Marimbas were a choice. Jennifer: She took a wrong turn somewhere. What were the last few minutes? Just a Second (Starts Like That!): More undersea space noise. What’s with the weird bubble/bird distortion? Picnic on a Frozen River, Deuxieme Tableaux: Some lovely melody at the beginning before it melts into madness. At least the instrumentation was nice-ish? Giggy Smile: At least this one was a bit more mellow, but it didn’t really go anywhere. Lauft…Heisst Das Es Lauft Oder Es Kommt Bald..Lauft: Church bees: The Musical. It’s a Bit of a Pain: Nice-ish song gets interrupted by someone unsuccessfully doing home repairs, a phone call and a teenage boy screaming into a fan.
This list has taught me that I do not like kraut rock. Especially since this album was 12 minutes of dial up before any actual music. A couple of those tracks were tolerable, but that’s about the best I can say.
certains son interessant d'autre completement inaudible, C'est de l'industrial, ca demande une oreille aguerie. plus les sons sont cours, meilleurs ils sont.
Mir hat dieses Album nicht gefallen.
Man, I don't know what the right headspace is to enjoy this, but I was bored out of my mind the whole time.
Per ongeluk naar deluxe versie geluisterd die was wel wat langer, ik vind het een beetje een geschift/gek album.
How did this make the list?
Too much for me
1 noisy
Wow. Kind of like a rock album but with overlong songs and a bunch of noise. Not a fan.
Truly awful
Utter garbage. This isn't music. If I could give it zero I would.
Was auch immer das war, es war seltsames und nerviges Geklimper. Habe auf das Ende gewartet, nachdem der erste Song nach 11 Minuten zu ende war.
02/03/25 This was just a lot of noise.
Not my thing. We could probably burry this and that would be fine with me.
Not my jam
No.
Not for me
German clowns' alarm clock sounds
"What's that noise?" the 11yo asked, and that is a review as good as any.
I read that this is considered "Krautrock" a term I haven't heard before and one I probably wont see again for a long while. It was a fun time listening to the album even though a lot of the songs have really weird vibes. Strange sounds in the background, rhythm changes, and new instruments are introduced throughout. Not something I will listen to again but a fun experience anyway.
Nein!! Not for me. I found it noisy and distracting. The vocals, when there were any, were ludicrous.
Didn't do it for me. Just noise imo
I really did not get this at all, did not click in any way.
Blues isn’t my thing. Sounds like a typical blues album to me.
Complete shit
Tämä vain nukutti… en ota sitä positiivisena asiana, vaikka sinänsä se kertoo myös siitä, ettei mikään hiertänyt
Osaavat laittaa vahvarit päälle. Ja ääntäkin tulee.
Well done for being different but this really isn't for me. I was actively looking forward to it ending from the first track which means it's gotta be 1*
Did not like it one bit.
Couldn't get into this one.
A wee bit too weird for me
This album was short. Which was good because I wasn’t really into it. But if you consider it came out in 1972, it’s pretty crazy and I can see how it paved the way for some of my favorite bands like Radiohead. So in that context, this is a great album. But not so great that I ever want to listen to it again.
Not for me.
If I could vote 0 stars then I would... What the heck was this?? And the "wet bug noises" half way through one of the songs was the most unnecessary thing.
Sucks
Nope. could not get my head into this.
DNF
I'm not sure how 5 songs/28 minutes seemed like such an eternity but what a slog this was. Maybe its over my head but it sounds like an insane mishmash of distortion and voices.
? Not sure why this is even here
Dreadfully weird and repetitive.
Täysin joutava.
I'm starting to think this list and I have different definitions of the term "Must Hear".
God awful. What is this crap
Nope
rough - SPROCKETS
Kraut did not rock for me
I feel like I could’ve died without hearing this album
Ow my ears
I dunno, this just wasn't for me. Didn't like the blend of electronica and slow rock. Whenever I felt a song was going in the right direction some synthesizer noise kind of ruined it for me. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it but found it boring and sometimes annoying.
WTF is Krautrock? And why in the world would anyone say that you have to listen to this album before you die? 1/5
Awful album. Couldn’t go past the first song. Second song I’ve listened for a minute and turned it off. Yikes…. Seriously how is this on the list???!!
Too abstract. 1/5
10necessário
This was not good. Not sure what to describe the music as but I didn't need to even experience it.
An occasional lyric on top of radio sound effects on top of an electronica music bed. No thanks.
Ok for Muzac, like in an elevator.
I give you guys a lot of credit if you finished this one. I only made it a few songs
Oof this was a tough listen. I love when people, musicians, whatever do what they love but this was too experimental for me. Maybe I’m too sober to listen but this one did not land I couldn’t wait for it to end.
This was not a WIN for me. Most of the tracks felt like montage music for a movie where a little animated mouse walks/motors around NYC taking in the sites. Might need some shroomies to figure out some of the songs with some weird jarring sounds in the middle. Only the piano piece was decent for me. Seems like an alternative jam band with a bunch of weirdos hanging in their mom's garage trying to figure out how to make her say "WTF" every 5 minutes.
Is this a sick joke
WTF- Sully
some very questionable decisions made on this album
Nej tack!
...
Some parts are totally fucking unlistenable. Terrible album.
I wanted to like this. The band sounded interesting. If was just noise. Not even interesting noises. Some tracks sounded like good background music but did the most part it was awful
I realise I haven’t listened to a whole Adele album before and that’s a shame. Very much enjoyed this - some lovely lyrics and tunes even if not her most original works. She has a voice to die for :)
absolutely horrible. Hard to believe this is a top 1000 album.
I don't get it
Sounds like random noise with some German lyrics every now and then. Terrible
Not really my type of music
How much crap can a man take!?
An absolute nonsense really, there are some elements within the instrumental songs that sound cool but, given that's what you're aiming for from start to end, it doesn't deliver quality, it's just crap
this was hard to listen to... headachy
Very unclear why this is on the list. First song hurt my ears with the overlapping of sounds. Didn’t get much better after. V weird and not in a good way.
1.3 - A bit of a pain to listen to. Glimpses of really nice music, covered in indulgent shit
Nop
ugh
No
Weird and bad; not really music
Congratulations on the experimental soundscapes, I'd rather not listen to the weird, arrhythmic, grating electronica. (See 2 minutes into 'It's a Bit of a Pain' for an example)
Jede menge müll! Vielleicht höre ich lieber Stephen Stills? Nein!
This was weird and boring and irritating.
Unlistenable. Not for me.
For the love of God, make it stop!
I laughed out loud when that scream happened. I wasn’t offended by this until he started singing Jennifer. That’s not how you say that name. I’m so not into this album.
Very weird in an not enjoyable way
I'm on a rough streak of albums. I'm not sure how this is a good album. Does being German make you a different genre?
Mediocre
It's not the kind of music I like.
Weird AND boring. Most albums have at least something interesting
Fucking weird.
meh
Possibly the worst album of all time
Not my cup of Tea.
Nop
Nothing here for me. Have no desire to listen to any of this again.
couldn't finish
I figured the opener, "Krautrock," would help me figure out what krautrock (the genre) is. So I hit play. And I waited. And waited... and waited... through too many minutes of weird feedback to be bothered to remember anymore. And I still don't know what krautrock is.
I don't do shrooms but would need to if I were to listen to this again.
I knew about this Krautrock band. A mate in school had The Faust Tapes and I remember him talking about it in 1973(ish) Consequently, I can say that this album is way too commercial - I prefer the hardcore early stuff. Lol.
I found this really annoyingly repetitive and each track way too long.
Nope.
Only listened once but found this a little boring. Don't really have a desire to come back to it
Never again.
