Reviews (page 10 of 11)

I listened to this on a Saturday morning, gray day drive. Very fitting. Not the biggest Springsteen fan, but this is a good piece of Americana. The back half was a huge bummer though. 2.5* rounded down.

This sucks more than most other Bruce Springsteen albums. Sure it forces us to focus on the songwriting, Springsteen isn't that great a lyricist. 4/10

Oh god. I would prefer to not meet Bruce in Atlantic City. This album is full of songs of losers, outcasts, good people caught in the jaws of America in the late 70s and 80s. Its just that I am sick of Bruce's pervasive pessimism. Every person is a victim of the system, every thing is broken down, and all his characters are just stuck.

Bruce’s storytelling skills are without parallel, but here he decides to couch them within the most boring music you could possibly imagine.

Het lijkt heiligschennis om Bruce Springsteen 2 sterren te geven. Maar dees was 'm niet, Bruce. Valt ook een beetje uit de boot als album tussen The River en Born in the USA. 2.4*

Highly depressing album.

meh and more meh

zwar chli persönlich und mega roh aber I can only take this much schnorregiige

This is a big sleeper. Dull and boring. Do not like his voice.

I don’t get it.

I'll give it credit, this album perhaps had me the most interested in anything Springsteen had done musically that I've had the opportunity to listen to. Stripped-back production Springsteen lends itself the best to his voice, and the lyrics are easier to care about in-turn. However, this still is a pretty dull record; many tracks that go on far too long, and oddly all feel like interludes that should be a minute. Makes me wonder if perhaps the big sound usually accompanying Springsteen is to mask repetitive melodies. It's a fine enough listen for one or two tracks, and I agree that the A-side is pretty good for what it is, but by the end I was completely out of it, and I think another listen would only heighten my disdain. For now, I'll say that seemingly every album of his seems to be better than the last, but when you're on a five-star scale, the difference is miniscule enough that it really doesn't matter in the long run.

The lack of an E street band made this tolerable

Not a fan. This was dull, and he didn't sound good. Plus, there was way too much harmonica.

All the songs are basically the same: poor guy gets in a little bit too far over his head and then is smacked down by the system. Maybe good in small doses, but hard to take 10 songs in a row of this. 2.5 stars

Decent enough, but nothing stands out to me outside of Atlantic City. Springsteen sings about everything from hardened killers to family troubles to typical country ballads about how hard it is to find a job (applies to Atlantic City, ironically enough) with the same lugubrious tone.

Honestly was nice hearing something kinda different from Springsteen, but it’s still not very good

Quite boring

Took a look at the reviews for this album, and don't remember seeing so many 1 and 5 star reviews. Seems like people love it or can't stand it. Give Springsteen credit for going against the grain and releasing something in raw form. Interesting to find out he planned on releasing these later with the E Street band. Some of these songs would have sounded so different with a full band... But that's not how it was released. While these songs deal with real world America and probably connect to some, the songs themselves are left without a familiar hook that would leave most people wanting for more. In the progression of Springsteen's works and legacy, maybe Born in the USA never happens without Nebraska happening first. Imagine hearing Glory Days in the stripped down raw version...would it be one of my all time favs? Prob not...but I'm sure glad we got the production it deserved..and without Nebraska we may have missed out on all of the USA.🤣✌🏻🇺🇲

I have an unbroken record of giving Springsteen records 2/5 stars, so to say I wasn't exactly optimistic about this is an understatement. I started out tolerating this one, genuinely, but it didn't take long to start to grate. I don't like his voice. I don't like his vibe. And if we can banish the fucking harmonica to the annals of history then I'd actually be delighted. I'm sure he's a lovely bloke, but I don't want to listen to anymore of his music. I get the idea. You guessed it... 2/5

First listen to any springsteen album. Ever. Period. I have been looking forward to seeing what the boss is about. Ive heard singles, but never full albums. This is your time to shine springsteen. Parts of "nebraska" sounds a bit like surfin USA by the beach boys to me. Just a slowed down version of the melody. More harmonica. Other than that it was a sombre experience. Maybe it will relate to the folks with roots close to the lyrics but i couldnt relate to it. The music was OK but nothing really stuck out and wow'd me. The quality of the recording is also relatively poor. I get where that came from based on the wiki but still. Overall, it wasnt awful but wasnt good. I like acoustic sessions too. I'd say below average for a first listen. Maybe its something you have to come back when you get into springsteen. But im honestly disappointed by the boss.

💤💤

Only one song on the album sounds like vintage Bruce. The remainder is clearly folk genre. Bruce, regardless of the genre is A hell of a songwriter. Not a big fan of folk music but Bruce had me listening intently to his lyrics…

Probably the worst Springsteen album I've heard so far. Middling 2.

Not his best.

I liked the chill vibe but I would never listen to this again. But I wouldn't hate it if I heard a song from it.

Pretty bland stuff

If dirges didn’t already exist, this is what eulogies would sound like, but it’s too bad I don’t care about what I’m hearing.

No doubt a masterful creation in its time period. It lacks the punch and energy of the work I know him for. The quality is undeniable the enjoyment may vary.

Kinda depressing. Wasn't digging it.

i guess im not a nebraskan

I like that it’s minimally-produced because it feels more intimate. But this felt like a chore after a while.

How many songs are actually improved by the addition of a harmonica? Not many I'd think. Dumb Things by Paul Kelly? Anyway, this album would sink if it was by Bruce Everyman, it's so one-paced and turgid.

Way slower than I thought it would be

This one was depressing...

I’ve heard worse from him. Still bad though

Too folky and a little too much harmonica for my liking. The Band's version of Atlantic City is leagues better than this one.

Man I for some reason just do not give a single shit about Bruce Springsteen's music, but we'll see if this changes my mind. Few songs in and it's pretty minimalist and telling stories. Not bad but nothing to write home about. Not great music to have on in the background. Pretty boring tbh. I can respect Springsteen but just can't get into him. Almost too Dad rock for me and I feel like I love Dad rock.

Too much acapella

Did someone bet Bruce Springsteen he couldn’t make a country album? This seems like his attempt at a country album. It’s ok. Had some good stuff but not my favorite of his

A little too lowkey for me.

NOT GOOD.

I did not dig this album. I was falling asleep in this. Maybe Springsteen missed on this one. Based off the hype around him I hope every album isn't a snore-fest bc otherwise it will be well disappointing.

Nah. I think you need to be a real Springsteen fan too enjoy this. I'm not in that camp and this was not pleasurable.

I think that is 40 minutes of the exact same thing over and over again just with different leatrics. I read a review that this album was like sitting around a campfire with Springsteen, and yes, it's exactly that. I don't think Is completely bad, but it's definitely not good at all, kind of boring and in a way I understand the idea he had, but no, it didn't work.

half listened to this at best but it sounded decent. maybe I'll enjoy springsteen more when I go through my first mid life crisis

yeah i don't like country all that much

Meeh cansa aunque alguna de relax OK - 5.5

It sounds nice but not for me and I can see why this was a shocking departure from “Born in the USA” for some

I didn’t get this album.i listen to Bruce for a reason and this isn’t it. Not for me.

It's sometimes funny to hear country dude-bros come up with a million metaphors for open roads, cars, hills, cops and the military. Though, to be fair, this album did not contain any mention of fishing with the boys. 2/5 - "Ain't nothing wrong with it, I'm just never gonna listen to it on my own again."

I really wanted to like this album as it checks off lots of my likes but it just didn't pull me in at all.

Too lowkey for me.

Best Songs: Atlantic City Listen Again: No

Boring guitar

This album seems like a love it or hate it kind of situation. I am finding myself in the hate it camp. Feels like a caricature of the of the sad side of Springsteen songs. I prefer some energy. Give me Born to Run over all this misery any day.

Bit dull

2/5 Bruce Springsteen comes across as the "Did it for the nookie" version of Bob Dylan.

drivel. 2.1.

This album alternates tracks between magnificent Midwest ballads, and songs about New Jersey 🤮. You may think I’m joking but literally any song he mentions New Jersey in, I did not like. How am I supposed to take a man talking about Mahwah seriously. Jokes aside, it seems to me to be a very odd choice to have your album have one foot in the folk genre, and the other in pure rock. This album is by no means the masterpiece some tour it as, but it has its share of shining moments. 4.5/10

Less than mid

Just okay

# 71 : Snore! Slow and sleepy. Boring as bat shit. Just Bruce and his guitar and no hits. ZZZZZZZZZ Open All Night

This album is very personal, intimate and lo-fi. Once again he's the champion of the working class, American blue-collar/farm worker. He does a good job of it, but I totally cannot relate because its so far from my own reality. Born to Run and Darkness on the Edge of Town explored similar themes but on those albums he had a kick-ass band behind him so it was much more accessible for me. If you're a Springsteen fan you'll probably love this, if you're not, you probably won't.

Boring

The classic SNL skit “Gotta Have More Cowbell” was actually inspired by this album, but instead of the cowbell, it’s the harmonica.

Moody and near "spoken word". I just don't see the fascination

With these albums I really realizing Bruce Springsteen is just not for me. His vocals are still so weak to me and his lyrics are clunky. With the style of folk music/the harmonica/the song simplicity, it just serves to throw into stark relief his lack of lyricism/poetry like Dylan or storytelling charm like Simon.

I get what he was going for with the sound and topics of this album but the music just didn't pull me in. I was longing for each song to end.

Es música muy de la que les gusta a los yankees que me aburrió mucho. Muuuy low, una guitarrita y un fraseo lerdo arriba, muy poco para rescatar.

Not bad, but nothing special. It's been done a lot better by lots of people. Favorite song: Atlantic City

What a boring, melodramatic album. The strong Bruce songs did not come from this album.

Only listened to half of it but it was not the Bruce I know. Get this man some help!

On the one hand it’s nice to hear Springsteen get a little weirder. On the other hand I still didn’t like it

Not a Bruce fan, but it was fine.

Ugh, big band sauntering Americana with Springsteen always demonstrating his average glockenspiel skills. The bad kind of swagger, no thanks.

Not his best. Bit depressing.

My favorite songs were the ones that didn't sound like it was The Boss.

A blue-collar mumble-rocker from Jersey tries his hand at mid-American country crooning to mixed results. "Nebraska" is mostly a set of boring imitations of old-school narrative country with a few half-decent tracks thrown in. It's full of put-on nostalgia for an idealized past that never existed and it comes off like a very poser money-grab from an over-the-hill boomer rocker. I mean, it wasn't the worst thing I've heard on this list... but I'll never listen to it again.

Do you like harmonicas? Do you like acoustic guitars? Do you like listening to your friends brother play on open mic night at your local sports bar? If so, Nebraska is for you.

koskettava. taas yksi yhdysvaltain osavaltio projekti.. edellinen illinois.. kiirettä pitää heh 48 jäljellä. KAUNIS..nstrumentaalit on albumissa huonoj EI OLE! raakoja... todellisia... ihmisläheisiä... bruce baby... farms on the last truck stop... the outlaw lord.... bloody state flags.... sunset jobs and cold drinks... come to wyoming... nebraska

Not much of a fan of Springsteen, and this has to be one of the worst albums I’ve heard from him, with the exception of Atlantic City, most of the songs here are boring, make you feel sad, and then offer very little musically, with a large focus on the lyrics. Good background filler, but easily replaceable with one of his better albums, or another artist entirely!

Surrender and I want you to want me are catchy and the rest is so boring to me

Just when I thought I couldn’t hate him more

I'm glad this is over. Nebraska was such a boring album. I don't like his vocals, I hate the harmonica. Yawn. I gave it +1 point for the "Open All Night" track and for being consistent.

I'm not a big Bruce Springsteen fan but this was actually pretty pleasant. I like this much better than his radio stuff. I may look into him further.

This album is vastly inferior to "Born to Run." "Open All Night" was the only track that perked up my ears. Other than that, I found this album as boredom-inducing as a drive through the actual state of Nebraska.

If I could go back & re-rate the other Bruce album, I'd give it a perfect 5. This one, though, is not my favorite. I've never been a fan of folk/Americana, and what's up with that shouting? No, thanks.

not a very good Springsteen its like he took all the sad parts of 'born in the usa' and made an album out of it none of the standout jams that make his other work 2.5

Typical Bruce Springsteen album - sounds like every other one

It's got a great beat and I can dance to it! Oh wait... I remember when this album dropped and I got so tired of what I thought at the time was a bunch of songs that al sounded the same and were essentially "whining with heart". Over the years though, I have appreciated a lot more how Bruce kind of tries to tell stories. I get why this album is on a list of influential and important albums, but I do think he has better albums. As far as my tastes go, this would be the exact thing I might want to listen to once every five years maybe, but normally not really to my taste.

It’s fine but not at the higher end of his work.

When I started listening to music properly I liked The River album and then he released Born in the USA album. US bombast, hated it from the bottom of my heart and never gave him a chance afterwards. While many friends go to his concerts and worship him. Today finally listened to another full album of Bruce and must say: find the music uninspiring to say the least. Too dumb for it I guess. 2 stars because it beats others I rated with 1 star

I wish I liked this more, I love Bruce. I just expected rock and this musically didn’t do much for me. Lyrically he’s still amazing, one of the best storytellers.

Aika tylsähtävää

Indie Bruce

Pretty downbeat, not my thing really.

Why did they blow up the chicken man's house. That's so rude. That lyric was probably my favourite part of the album. This is pretty different from Born in the U.S.A., but I didn't much care for this. It was pretty boring and it all sounded the same. I'm getting this sneaking suspicion that I don't care for Bruce Springsteen's music. Just glad it's over. My favourite song was State Trooper.

Very moody and cohesive. A bit dull instrumentally for me but i understand the intentions. Would not revisit this tho i think as it's not quite my taste

Considering this was the album before the behemoth, Born in the USA, it’s a bit surprising how mellow it is. I did enjoy it - good background music.

Not a big fan of this music

A few decent songs, but mostly unmemorable and uninspired

I like bruce but not my fave album

The sound of a 50 year old man fleeing assault charges and hopping a bus to Atlantic city to drink himself to death.

It's alright for what it is, which is essentially a bunch of demos. Kinda depressing and like most people I prefer the upbeat happier Boss.

Litt for gubbete for meg

Boring and a bit too slow.

No, just no. I don't know what people see in this dude but for me it's just not happening. Strangely the very end of the album had a few somewhat decent moments, usually it's the other way around. Apart from the music itself - it's fine to name an album after a title song, but it should follow a theme. Naming an album Nebraska, a location, and follow this first and title track by song called Atlantic city - a completely different location - what?

As if I needed another reason to never go to Nebraska. Jesus Christ, who likes this sad sack bullshit music?

While Nebraska eschews some of the cheesy trappings of later Springsteen - the horns, the over-production - it doesn't completely avoid all of the stylistic missteps of his sound. The characteristic dusty, breathy vocal style that would define a whole generation of singer-songwriters, not just Springsteen - but also Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, John Mellencamp, and even Tom Waits at some of his more saccharine moments and the overly serious small-town troubadour songwriting style are still there. As a standalone album, it's one of the strongest of Springsteen's career, but I can't get back the overall flaws of his sound to see him as anything more than bland momrock. While he's across the board a better songwriter than Bob Seger, he loses when it comes to production choices, hook writing, and general timbre - and Bob Seger is not a highwater mark.

Pretty alright acoustic stuff. Didn't find anything special for me.

Mä oon varmaan väärä ihminen arvioimaan tätä levyä. Mulle tää on vaan mies ja kitara (välillä myös huuliharppu) ja samanlaisia biisejä toistensa perään. Tekstit on varmasti mitkä Brucen biiseistä tekee hienoja, mutta mun on jotenkin aika vaikee samaistua niihin, enkä suoraa sanottuna myöskään aina ymmärrä mistä puhutaan. Tuntuu melkeen pahalta arvostella näin alas tää levy, mutta meen ihan silla fiiliksellä mikä tuli kun kuuntelin tän läpi.

woohoo another almost dead white man... ... 2 stars (its a 3 but -1 because)

I really enjoy a handful of Bruce's songs but none from this album. . just to sleepy for me.

It's like listening to someone cosplay a cowboy.

Fucking mid lmao. I won’t be listening to this shit ever again.

It's just not Born in the USA

Never did care for his music

Really wasn't into this. Dreary voice. Would really have to be in the mood for slower sad stuff. Did enjoy "Open All Night" though.

Title song inspired by the movie Badlands, nice lyrics. The album was kind of boring.

No matter how acoustic his guitar is or how much reverb he puts on it, Springsteen just cannot pull off the country authenticity needed to sell this LP. Little rhythmic or lyrical variation means this is a forty-minute slog that just never hits home as a truly genuine red-dirt country album.

Depressing

Fuck this shit

Meh. It's just not Born in the USA.

After reading about how this record got made, it's a pretty interesting story, and the novel approach, and also pretty brave. The thing is, it didn't translate to the songs. This was a bust.

Sounds a bit like Bob Dylan in places but not as interesting

Not impressed to be honest. His voice comes out so dull for this style of album. Overall pretty boring, only redeeming song was Atlantic City.

*Yawn*

A little one note; harmonica is weak, production is sloppy, chords are basic, vocals are monotone, narrative is odd.

Starts out great, but gets tiring towards the end, which made the experience of listening to it something weird

Bloody hell, enough of the harmonica already! The gentle guitar playing is quite soothing, but far far too much harmonica, man! 1.5

I've never quite understood the hype for Springsteen. To me he's always been kind of a journeyman rocker without much humor or feel for any kind of groove. This album got so much praise and it eludes me entirely. Somehow, mumbling with minimal instrumentation is supposed to make this an authentic and interesting album - it doesn't.

Amazingly boring...

zzzzzzzzzz

Best Song: Highway Patrolman. I'm a sucker for these kind of simple, storytelling songs and this one's not bad, although sometimes the syllables don't line up well and it feels like he needs to rush or drag to finish a particular phrase on time. Worst Song: Reason to Believe. I would have liked something more dramatic to conclude this otherwise sleepy album, not a sort of religious diatribe. Overall: I appreciate that this has less of the over-the-top bravado that characterizes much of the other of Springsteen's work that I am familiar with, but still, I just find his voice largely uninteresting.

Ik ken leuke nummers van Bruce Springsteen. Dit album vind ik erg kaal klinken - de man met de gitaar - en ook de melodie vind ik erg basic. Helaas niet iets waar ik echt van kan genieten. **

Nice folk with some beautiful moment, but ultimately too downbeat and monotonous for me.

Pretty boring.

fucking hell, cheer up bruce. Nebraska must be a grim place if this is what it sounds like. not much good to say about this dreary load.

Stuffing ice cubes down my knickers and squealing like a burns victim is how I like to experience this record. Nothing is as exciting as the first time I heard it. I was banging a whore at the time though. I say whore, it was the remains of a small boy covered in maple syrup.

Fine, if you like this kind of thing. I don't massively, but I doubt Bruce Springsteen is too upset about that. He should be though.

njä, lite trökigt

2/5 somewhat boring.

Had always wanted to listen to this album and get more into the boss. Going to take more than this one to get me there. Just a little too subdued for me. 2/5

Attempting to bask near the glory of other albums, this one doesn’t do much for me. Feels like forced sentimentality

Downbeat, raw, Solomon subject matter. Not the Springsteen I like, although songwriting, musicianship and delivery are still excellent.

There are so many great albums by Bruce, and they pick this one. Just so boring ... D+

2. pour State Trooper Sinon c'est chiant

American story telling... Did not care for these unpolished bits

Not bad but not my kind of music

Not a big fan. Grating.

I think I just don't like Bruce Springsteen that much... His version of Atlantic City is so far inferior to The Band's version in my opinion--less energy, more slurring of his words, less tight arrangement, less interesting. Even some of the lyrics are worse! He just seems to be whining into the mic in a lot of these. I appreciate some of his tunes but can't get behind him overall.

Estilo propio del compositor norteamericano. Voz característica. Suave y tranquilo de escuchar. Poco rock que destila. Le falta algo. Un poco decepcionante

-"Johnny 99," "Open All Night," and "Reason to Believe" gets decently groovy. -"Johnny 99" sounds vaguely Johnny Cash-like --The harmonica in quite a few songs is cool, particularly "Johnny 99" and "Reason to Believe" -Overall just not very exciting or interesting

Pretty underwhelming. I still don't get the appeal of The Boss. No, I'm not asking for help. I'm fine forgetting about this forgettable music.

Too slow songs

Not my favorite

This is the first time I've heard one of Springsteen's more slow albums and I must say that I'm not the biggest fan. I definitely like his more upbeat and energetic music but this still isn't terrible. A little boring but the lyrics are good and Bruce's voice is solid. Fav song: Highway Patrolman

Maybe good songs but voice and harmonica kinda killed it for me

It was fine? I can't see this being a memorable one for me

Okay, for the purposes of honesty, I have negative feelings about Bruce due to my ex. That being said, this isn't great. Whiny, gravely, and with a weird backwoods feel. This sounds like how someone who's never been to Nebraska would portray it.

Whatever this is, not a fan, particularly

Musically, this is a fine album, just not my thing.

Didnt work for me

Somber album, en wat saaier dan ik van Bruce Springsteen gewend ben

Springsteen's Nebraska is in the vein of telling the story of the 'True America' not glossing over anything and telling it as he sees. Very solemn and seemingly deliberate in taking you on a journey, through mid-western USA. Springsteen doesn't hit the mark for me, perhaps, because its not really something I can relate to. Best: Nebraska; Open All Night Worst: Highway Patrolman

1.5. - looking hard for a reason to but give it a 1 because I hated it, but I guess there's something there... Even if it's the same show, boring, mumbling, uninspiring singing and guitar for the entire album. It's like one long terrible song. At least there's a little harmonica?

I swear I do not understand why these country musicians overuse the harmonica to this degree, it always just tears my ears a new one because I like to listen to music with the volume turned all the way up. And they never even sound nice. Harmonicas are nice in real life but so annoying on high quality productions. Sry, Thats my little rant about harmonicas. Tha album was very uninteresting to me. 2/5

My review for this one didn’t stick. I’ve never understood Springsteen fandom. This one is no different. It’s boring and just seems phony. It’s not offensive to the ear so it escapes a 1.

not really my type of music

definitely not a 2 star album, but i rate based on enjoyment and this just isn't my kind of music

This was more of a stripped-back acoustic album that I could tell has a lot of meaning to it. Unfortunately, it didn’t resonate with me. Atlantic City was my favorite and one track I may come back to.

Meh. Didn’t connect.

To me, the lyrics don't carry the album enough to justify keeping the songs in their demo form.

I liked this more than I thought I would. And by that, I mean, there was one song on this album I liked: "Atlantic City." That song's pretty good so I couldn't give this album a one. You saved this album Atlantic City. Nice work.

Too early, Boss! Mouth organ, acoustic guitar & not much else. Too bluesy - not my fave genre

On an album where every track is purely vocals & acoustic guitar (and the occasional harmonica), I didn't feel that either part interested me enough for this album to be particularly engaging. I'm probably not the target audience though lets be honest. Spotify continued playing Springsteen after this album finished which I quite enjoyed, but none of the tracks from this album really did it for me.

Es gibt bessere Alben von ihm

Expected better from Brucey.

Like Springsteen but this one depressing.

I had no idea I was so indifferent about Bruce.

Wouldn't listen again.

Just too bleak for me. Sounds underproduced. We get it, there are unemployed people in America, play Born to Run and shut up about it ffs

Not his best work.

A nice collection of mellow songs with up close lyrics. But there's still something about this album that I don't find it enticing.

Okay, just kinda bland

A nice surprise. I generally find Springsteen really cringeworthy and just too American. This is a nice album though, understated, thoughtful, calming, nothing I would generally associate with him. It made for a pleasant evening.

meh I've never been a huge Springsteen fan

How this guy is so popular I have no idea. Needed cheering up after this

Not really my thing, a guy and his guitar with a very average voice. Perhaps the lyrics are magical, but not really what I look for in a song.

Some nice moments, but folks I like my Bruce with a side of sax and this waiter brought me a side of harmonica instead. They are not equals. I do not like harmonica. Sending it back.

I liked the odd track, it was quite samey. I miss the Rock Bruce

Slow. OK but nothing I need to listen to again.

Good, just not a huge springsteen fan

I'm certainly what you would consider a "casual" Bruce Springsteen fan. This album for someone like me is just too deep a cut for my tastes. Like I said, casual.

The whole enterprise just seems kinda...silly? in a way, I’ve never really believed Bruce

The harmonica on this album is so shrill, it made certain songs hard to listen to. The themes of the songs, like police officers and prisoners, just don’t hit anything for me. No song stood out as good or bad throughout the album. I’d do 2.5 stars if I could.

Kinda annoying tbh. Quote monotonous at some point

Bob Dylan -meininkiä josta en niin kauheasti välitä. Tylsiä rallatteluja ilman mitään erityisen kiinnostavaa tai massasta poikkeavaa. Springsteenillä olisi varmasti ollut parempiakin levyjä tälle listalle.

It was a bit country and folky, but didn't really catch my ear

Singer/songwriter, fortællende, patriotisme, American Dream

Fuck, what a bore. As if Springsteen didn't have enough bloat on this list already. Brutal placeholder for what could have been Songs for the Deaf, anything by Primus, .......

Shit. Shit. And once again - shit.

insanely boring, i'd rather listen to the voices in my head

Meh, I wish he did go back an re-record these tracks instead of leaving them as is because there's some nice songwriting here. Especially on tracks like Johnny 99 or State Trooper. The stripped down feel isn't something Springsteen really did well here, just felt very derivative of Bob Dylan. However I did give some of the "Electric Nebraska" versions off of Nebraska '82 a listen and I did enjoy them a lot more. Downbound Train is nice and the alternative version of Born in the U.S.A. is soooo much better than the one that got popular. 1.5/5

Featuring Bruce Springsteen as: the annoying ass white guy with an acoustic guitar around a campfire who won’t shut up about his self important nonsense bowel movement he’s minted as “art” Zero stars unlistenably bad.

chaaaaato

Dear me. They call this guy the boss. Let's sing some pessimistic dreary songs about a guy without a job. His girlfriend is miles away and he's got to find a way to get to her . Oh and he's drunk again and the police are after him. Throw in a harmonica and a guitar and a rough gravelly voice to add to the effect. Absolutely miserable and depressing. New world folk music. Ugh

This album, like the actual state of Nebraska, is flat, boring, and dreary. The songs all sound almost identical with the occasional whine of a harmonica or a yell thrown in. Some of the songs have a discordant sound which doesn’t make for pleasant listening. And despite the album title Nebraska, he mentions Jersey way more. I’m not sure what the plan was for this album, but it didn’t work.

Fuck Off.

Springsteen? Instant 1 of 5. He's just dull and boring.

So, he must have been going through his Dylan or Johnny Cash phase… but frankly, he should have skipped it. I thought it was pretty dull.

Generic 80s slop. Not a fan at all.

too american

hate springsteen didnt listen

Well I didn’t hate and theoretically I can see why he was such a big star back then but, ugh. Bruce with his guitar and his harmonica is just way too american for my eastern european mind and heart, I think.

bzzzzzzz snore yawn

Fuck bruce springsteen, fuck him in his stupid ass. Also, and this really goes without saying, but Fuck nebraska too.

Completely horrid. Delete this from the internet.

Flyover state, flyover album. There’s nothing you’re missing by skipping this one. It’s a bunch of mournful songs about people Bruce tries to frame as Midwest Folk heroes, when in reality they all come off as whiny children who act as victims of circumstance. And of course, the song that treats the cop like martyr for not forcing his brother to obey the law. Just a drag of an album. All bummer albums just don’t work. They’re never worth the time to listen to.

tentou puxar pro bob dylan mas ficou interior dos estados unidos, acampamento e música em volta da fogueira de uma forma muito horrenda e grotesca.

Please don't make me rate more Springsteen music. I can't mentally bare it anymore.

nan mais en vrai on me fera JAMAIS croire que les musiques les plus culturally significant c'était AUTANT de country c'est juste super biaisé

No no no no no no no ! No !!!!

sorry to everybody who loves the boss but this was heinous to me. Like i actually struggled to listen to this album. No shade if you like this but i would rather deepthroat a dildo covered in broken glass than to listen to this again

This is not for me. It feels like getting bailed up in the bathroom with a miserable dude with a harmonica addiction.

Not for me, too sad for sad’s sake.

Old man howling in the wind...

So boring that it would have put me to sleep - if it hadn't annoyed me so much. 😤 Too American? Too much reverb on the damn voice? I don't know but I don't like it.

Not great

I hate Bruce Springsteen so not exited at all for this one. I think what I hate the most is his voice. God his voice ANNOYS me. This album is extra boring. All the songs sound the same and the production is not so good. I tried reading the lyrics but their just so uninteresting.s

10 tracks of 3 chord do-nothing songs. No rhythm, no grooves, no melody, no harmony. Didn't really listen to the lyrics cause, well, it's Springsteen. Pretentious dipwit. Famously from New Jersey, takes us on a tour to where? Nebraska? Bruce, you are not bob dylan. Fuck you

Depressing. Boring.

Terrible.

Might not be the biggest fan...oh well :P

You know when a three-year-old starts telling you a story and it takes a really long time and at the end you aren't quite sure what they just told you? That's Nebraska. This was so painful to listen to, and I like a lot of Springsteen's stuff.

I hate it, thanks.

Maybe he's a better live show.

I can tell where Taylor Swift got her story telling inspo in her early country albums. Bruce’s narrative was too descriptive and became repetitive when his songs started out with “I’m driving in my car with my sister in the front seat eating cream and my mom in the back seat.” In terms of the gravelly voice I personally like it smoother like Ryan Adam’s.

When I listen to an album for the first time it usually either makes my ears prick up and decide it’s got more to offer so I’ll play it again or, I think what’s this shite and never listen again. This did neither, it was just a nothingness. I have no opinion but I’ll give it a one cos Bruce is a gun looney

bueno ni me gaste en escucharlo por que no es un estilo que me guste, siento que no me suma nada. Chusmee los temas mas conocidos y tampoco me llamaron la atención.

Maybe you need to physically be in Nebraska to understand why would anyone listen to this

I said it over a year ago and I will say it again: I hate the harmonica

yeah this was VERY boring. i liked one song and the rest was just uninteresting and not a genre i was vibing with. he probably has some interesting lyrics but thats not what i hear when i listen to music for the first time. music is bland. his vocals are okay. 2/10 lol

Bruce springsteen word the boss genoemd.

I don’t have the energy for this. Perhaps if you like Springsteen or Americana or country it’ll be up your street but I found it dull and meandering

A bunch of boring American bullshit.

Sounds like one long shitty song. Very boring.

Boring. Ugh

bob dylan fans would like it, but im not fan

pls stop giving me white american music, it's sooooooooooo boring

This album is a cure for insomnia

This aint it chief

Nah. Who outside the US cares about this drivel? The guitar is boring, Bruce's singing moreso. Not gonna waste my time finishing this record. Instead, I listened to Black Messiah from the late and great D'Angelo. I knew some songs from this record already, but it could not prepare me for the absolutely amazing record it is. Its jazzy, soulful and if you ask me one of the, if not the best R&B album of the 21st century. It's often leans into the more experimental side, but never strays too far. Enough to be tantalizing, not enough to be grating. Each song is just an instant classic. Unlike Nebraska, which sucks. 2/10

Boring, stale didn't finish as I got bored. Standard country stuff.

Enough with the Springsteen already

I have already listened to this and did not like it then

An absolutely awful album

Not for me. 1/5

I can not be dealing with Springsteen, although I do quite like the song The Cash Brothers wrote about this album. Source: YouTube https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Pycuwh1p4oo&pp=0gcJCTIBo7VqN5tD

Dreary

Man, was this dull and boring. 1/10

Don't like Bruce Springsteen - too pretentious.

Oh Bruce

Wasn’t super motivated to listen to this album, and from the minute the album begins with the grating harmonica, to its final screeching note, the only thoughts I could have were, ‘Fuck Bruce Springsteen and fuck this album.’ Its major theme is about white despair, an America and a life that has moved on. Sad themes with no reprieve or even glimmer of hope.

Bruce continues to puzzle me as to how he got so damn popular and such a movement. His hits with the E Street Band are certainly fun, but I've never liked any aspect of his slowed down, acoustic folk albums. Nebraska is heralded as a timeless classic but I just don't get it. I guess people love that at the time he distanced himself from stardom and self-recorded a solo acoustic album? Like so much of his other music (majority of it very skippable) it must have resonated with the common man as it was another huge hit despite there being little to no meat on the bone for me. Atlantic City is probably the only song that I have even a shred of appreciation for. Bruce only continues to prove that I am not a common man I guess because this album does absolutely nothing for me (nor do his others in this ilk). Despite my dislike of the album I knew it was going to be on this list. Happy to put this back on the shelf to collect a lot of dust. 0.93 stars

Oh Bruce... Nothing can make me like you

Springsteen changes the style but not the quality. Still shit.

idrk, wasn’t anything menorable, but also didn’t dislike any?

I’ve never been the biggest Springsteen fan. I especially don’t understand the hype about this album, I found it to be very boring. Not all these albums are for everyone I suppose.

Это ужасно утомительно

no me copó para nada, capaz fue un día medio malo

Boring singer/songwriter trash.

Sounds like Bruce Springsteen, but every song is literally the same boring song...

shite and boring

You know what, I really don’t like Bruce Springsteen. I said what I said. Not only that, this is the worst Bruce Springsteen album yet. He probably doesn’t deserve this 1 star but I’m just so sick of hearing his music.

It was unbearable. I never understood the hype surrounding Bruce Springsteen. I never particularly liked his music either. But this album is especially bad. I gave up during the third track. 1/5

Wow, I really don’t like this.

Fucking harmonica

Bruce Springsteen could make an album of nothing but fart noises and bad bird impressions (think “tweet tweet” instead of whistles) and critics would herald it as a masterpiece. I don’t know what he did to get such a pass, but I’ve never understood the appeal. This album did nothing to help. For someone known as a songwriter who tells, I don’t understand half what he says, and what I do understand doesn’t fit any kind of meter and only rhymes when he fees like it. It comes across to me as sloppy writing and anyone else would get lambasted for it. Normally, I’d give something like this a couple stars, but I have higher standards for anyone who gets this much praise.

Not my kind of music
