Beautiful. The whole thing.

имба.

I have listened to this album many many many times in the past. It's been a while though. Going to see if it still holds up today. Yes, it does.

Every single song on this album was absolutely perfect. Coldplay has such a great sound, I don't even know how to describe it. Absolutely perfectly written, performed, recorded, produced and mixed. Just top notch, I listened to it twice. Five stars, easily.

Say what you want about Coldplay and what they’ve become, this album was near perfection when it was released.

Excellent as always. Took me back to 2012

Perfect album! I like it! There are several masterpiece tracks inside: In My Place, God Put a Smile upon Your, The Scientist, Clocks and A Rush of Blood to the Head.

After the fall of Radiohead came Coldplay. They picked up the slack and eventually fell into the same demise as their predecessor. In their height, they were an amazing band. Beautiful melodies. Poetic lyrics. The album A Rush Of Blood To The Head reflects all of this. It's a shame that this was Coldplay's last truly great album.

a recent great album. full of hits. modern. innovative.

Love this album. I'm not a huge fan of most of Coldplay's output after this, but this has some of the best pop/rock songs from this decade. The Scientist, Green Eyes, and Amsterdam are some of my absolute favorite songs.

A lot of nostalgia for AROBTTH - unique in 2002. Goopy, but honest. Their best for me, with no weak links. Doesn’t try too hard.

Heard it before. A very solid album that I still enjoyed very much

Kids these days only know the "new" (aka boring) Coldplay. There is a reason they became so popular, you know. Their first two records are fantastic.

I've loved it since my brother gave me the album for Christmas in 2002

Love this album

I’m honestly so tired of people trying to justify their hate of this Coldplay album. It’s awesome!!! Even if you aren’t a fan of their later stuff, this album is fantastic in so many ways. I wonder if people just automatically start hating something because so my people like it. They can’t help themselves. They’re too cool I guess. Yeah some of the songs on here were absolutely overplayed, but sheesh, have you listened to Amsterdam?! Or Green Eyes?! They’re brilliant!! Move over haters and go take a dump on another album. Rush of Blood to the Head is off limits!!

I know it is generally acceptable to bash Coldplay but their first two albums are amazing. Incredible live show too. Later Coldplay not so much but this has got stellar songwriting. Everything works

It's difficult to analyse the album on a more objective basis when it stirs up such emotion in me. I really couldn't care less if you're supposed to be embarrassed or ashamed to enjoy Coldplay or not, I'll always believe that the band put out some of the best mainstream rock music of the '00s. Although I was extremely young when this particular record released, to my mind it still perfectly captures the overall mood of that early period of my life; it hurts me and inspires me in equal measure. Perhaps this is by design, as Chris sings as if he has already lost in the sands of the past what can never be found again. Favourites: A Rush of Blood to the Head, In My Place, Clocks, Daylight, Green Eyes (6/1001, 19th Mar. '25, 1909h.)

Perfecto

«A Rush of Blood to the Head» обволакивает тебя уютом, как тёплый плед, которые в конечном счёте всё равно тебя задушит и утащит на самое дно.

Always an enjoyable listen. The simplicity of the piano in The Scientist paired with the subtle build. Just lovely. Overall a great album in my book.

I love this album. They evolved extremely well after Parachutes. Not one track I don't like.

First day

I had already listened to the album before, but it was a lot of fun to revisit it! Didn't realize how good it was. Fav song: Warning Sign

Why are you booing me? I'm right.

Really dig early Coldplay

Awesome album

Honestly wasn't sure if i gave a shit about this album, but it's fucking great. Parachutes is probably better overall but they're both kind of perfect.

Oh man. This is a good one. My co worker has been trying get me to listen to for a bit but it took a generator to get there. Perfect day too. An unseasonably warm and extremely stormy December day. It was so good. So good.

I was familiar with this album but hadn’t listened to it in a while. It holds up!

Phenomenal album. Coldplay is just really good, everyone puts in their fair share to make a great production, especially the vocalist. The variety of styles on this record is something to envy.

I’m seeing Coldplay next year and I don’t care they’re a good band… Well early Coldplay anyway. Politik is awesome, in my place is a good single, god put a smile on your face is amazing, the scientist is heart wrenching, clocks is a real anthem. The second half isn’t AS good but it’s still great daylight has these amazing strings, green eyes is nice and jangley, then warning sign is beautiful, a whisper is surprisingly rocky, the title track provides an amazing climax, without Amsterdam the album could’ve still ended perfectly but it’s inclusion does help the album get a 5/5

Includes the classics The Scientist, Clocks, and In My Place; very mellow even by Coldplay standards, but thoroughly enjoyable

Great album. Love every track. Amsterdam is a great way to end the album.

Clocks!

Even if you don’t know it you will Probly sing every song.

I get it. This one is polarizing. And Coldplay has gained a certain reputation as bland/whiny generic pop. I do not particularly like their albums after "A Rush of Blood To the Head". But...I am unreservedly giving this one a 5 without any shame. There is admittedly a nostalgia factor as this was part of my post college/pre-law school soundtrack when I was living in NYC with very little in the way of responsibilities and lots of leisure time. Probably the reason I'll give any Radiohead a 5 as well. But putting nostalgia aside...with the exception of Green Eyes (which is a regular skip for me), this album is excellent from start to finish.

Very pleasant surprise to give Parachutes‘ follow up another chance - every single track is killer. Simple, beautiful, well arranged …I seemed to be on a different vibe back then. Great album!

If anyone looks at my profile, my reviews will be all over the place. I love this album and grew up with it. Coldplay has dropped off in recent years, but this album is great from front to back. I understand the hatred for the band, but I'll put my personal opinion out there and say that this is a great album for my music tastes. That's all

General impression: still rules. The only Coldplay album you need. Detailed review: Given the way Coldplay’s career has gone, I sometimes expect to return to their early work and find that I’ve lost some esteem for it. Not the case. This is a truly excellent soft rock album whose main appeal is simply that it’s a collection of excellent songs. Good lyrics, good music, good riffs, clean production that stays out of the way. “Politik,” “Clocks,” “Daylight,” the title track, and “Amsterdam” are stone-cold classics, and the rest of the songs are almost as good. The album is introspective and moody, tinged with a tiny streak of wonder and hope. I love it at least as much as I always have. Deeper thoughts (context): On the production — I realized that my main issue with most things Coldplay have done since this album is the overproduction of their studio recordings. It’s like they got big, and got a taste of a big budget, and got in the habit of getting carried away in the studio. I wish they’d go back to a focus on good songwriting and little else. Score: 4.8 (5) Number of albums left to review: 960 Number of albums from the list I’d consider “must-listens”: 24 (including this one) Albums from the list I won't include in mine: 17

THIS IS GREAT. The best album of Coldplay ever ever

Coldplay are a bit of an easy target, what with Chris Martin being so irritatingly pretentious and utterly sold out at this point. But when this album came out, they were still on an upward trajectory and this was, in all honesty, an excellent progression from the groundwork laid by Parachutes a couple of years previously. There are too many excellent songs here to dismiss it as coffee table rock but it was starting to waver dangerously close. I must confess it has aged well and perhaps a 20 year break from it was what we all needed as it was just so ubiquitous at the time.

Still my favorite Coldplay effort.

This is a fantastic album. The sounds are varied, atmospheric, and interesting. My introduction to Coldplay was the song Clocks, which is on this album. The entire album is excellent start to finish, to the point where Clocks doesn't even necessarily stand above the other tracks. I don't care for much of Coldplay's discography, but I am very grateful for this album.

I think this is an excellent album, also one of the CD's I had in my car during the 20th century, so I've heard it all before and I still like it!

I thought this was a masterpiece the first time I heard it. I know a bunch of tunes are overplayed, but being tired of a song doesn't make it any less great. Of their first 3 or 4 albums I think this one is the strongest. This album contains some truly brilliant moments. Modern classic.

I’m a middle aged white guy. This is practically holy scripture.

I have this CD in my collection and I thinks it’s probably Coldplay’s best album. In relistening to it, at first I was meh about about. I didn’t think it aged well. But deeper into the album, it really hits a groove. Lyrically and musically. Definitely worth multiple listens

Very much of its time and also timeless. This might be the best album that came out of the post 9/11 world.

Very easily a 5-star album. Every track is good. Interesting that "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face" was the last single to be released and that it didn't do so well - that might be my favorite song from the album. I also like Politik, Daylight, and Warning Sign, which are not among the highest-played tracks.

Early Coldplay will always be the best Coldplay. I can't wait to have this on vinyl.

They make good music.

Not a huge fan of Coldplay's more recent lean toward pop, but this older one is a fantastic album.

Green Eyes, In My Place, Amsterdam. Precioso.

Masterpiece

A very very good album. Beautiful lyrics through and through, although I did find Daylight to be very repetitive. Some nice variety of songs, overall good listening experience. Torn between a 4 and 5

UCL represent! Wtf Coldplay actually used to be really good. To me this sounds like an alternative reality where after releasing The Bends Radiohead decided - instead of getting all weird - to go really accessible and try to get chart success. It may be a really safe album but there’s some really great songwriting on here.

Outstanding sequel to an outstanding debut. Coldplay haters can suck it.

I know it’s cool to hate on Coldplay, and post-this album I’m right there with you. Their past 20 years of output has been almost universally mid to bad, and I’m sure their mediocrity must haunt their dreams as they sleep on piles of money. But this album is a genuine high point. Admittedly, I am biased if for no other reason than I was 21 and in college when it came out. But I argue that it stands proud as a indie pop/rock masterpiece.

Like it.

Clocks is one of my favorite songs of all time, I could listen to it on repeat all day. This album has a similar vibe throughout that I really enjoyed.

Early Coldplay was absolutely amazing.

Classic. 80 per cent of the songs on this album were, or could have been singles. If you weren't around when this was released, it's hard to overstate how massive it was in its day.

And to think I only got into Coldplay, really, because my children were obsessed with Minecraft music videos.

This is peak Coldplay. The acoustics really make the music, and the lyrics back them up. Most of their newer stuff is too commercial, it's basically the formula for pop hits. But this album feels more genuine and thoughtful. It's also worth noting that Chris Martin can't sing, lol, but it doesn't bother me.

Man. The first few Coldplay albums were great. Love this album. It has my personal favourite Coldplay track: The Scientist. I feel like after X&Y they got a little too poppy for my tastes.

Fucking epic boys

Album, you are a rock, on which i stand.

Firing on all cylinders, Coldplay made only one masterpiece - a perfect album, if you will - and "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" was it. While I hadn't listened to it from start to finish in at least 15 years (probably closer to 20), it was like time traveling back to some the more memorable days of working for Best Buy.

Incredible work, I didn't think I liked Coldplay this much but everything in this album ties together extremely nicely. Great stuff

A strong follow up to the really good “Parachutes” debut. An exceptional album wrought full of emotion and urgency, this album dropped right in the midst of me experiencing my own rush of blood to the head in life at the time. It will always be linked to me because of that. The songs speak for themselves and became the catalyst for a new chapter. Revisiting the songs today confirms that the story happened the way it was supposed to.

Easy to forget that these guys absolutely owned the musical scene during this period. While they went down some less appealing musical paths after this, it’s hard to argue how impressive this album is. Full credit from me, even though they aren’t really in my rotation anymore.

Good old Coldplay, their 2nd record with a couple of truly incredible songs (Clocks, The Scientist), but also not a bad song on it.

Beautiful album that is full of classics and has a mournful yet nostalgic feel throughout

Beautiful masterpiece!

Easy to dunk on this band but this is objectively a great great album.

prime chris martin what a beautiful first step in this journey

I’m not a fan, but they have a distinctive sound and their songs are pretty good. Talented guys

I’ve always loved this album but hadn’t listened in forever, so this proved to me it stood the test of time.

This album came out when I was in my peak time of spending weekend mornings watching VH1’s music video countdown, aka a fairly formative time in me discovering music. I vividly remember seeing The Scientist on there and loving the video, and for a song that’s pretty highly rated, I still find it a bit underrated. This music is simple but (IMO) impactful. Green Eyes is special to me as a person with green eyes and occasional main character syndrome. Love this album haters be damned!!

3 песни подряд в конце альбома (Warning Sign, Whisper и A rush of blood to the head) чисто музыкально вызвали бурю эмоций, как будто целый фильм посмотрела) И потом это всё как одеялком накрыли песней Amsterdam

High School Me was OBSESSED with this album, in particular "The Scientist". I vividly remember playing the Youtube music video for The Scientist on endless repeat (with manual "Replay" clicks every. single. time.) as I did homework, wrote in my journal, and made art. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this album now that I'm in less-angsty times in my life, but the second half of this album absolutely kills. The standouts are "Green Eyes" and "Amsterdam" (which used to be one of my all time faves -- turns out it still is). Honorable Mention to "Warning Sign". The first half of this album isn't necessarily my favorite, but it makes the second half hit much harder so at the end of the day, I think the album as a whole works wonderfully. This is probably a 4 for me, but gets a +1 for the Nostalgia Factor

I don't like Coldplay's whole vibe and the lead singer is a knob but this is a very, very good pop album.

A Rush of Blood to the Head is the second studio album by Coldplay, originally released in 2002. Apparently I like Coldplay a lot more than I originally thought. Most of it is probably nostalgia. My parents love their early records and used to play them all the time when I was a kid. Many of these songs are burned into my brain. But these songs are actually good! The band really begins to find that signature Coldplay sound on this album. Their pop influence is stronger, and their hooks are catchier. The hits from this are huge, of course. I think the deeper cuts are also amazing. I previously got Coldplay’s first album and loved it. They sure came out swinging again with this one.

I haven’t listened to this album in over a decade. If I was asked to rate it just based on what I remembered of it I would probably have given it a 3. If I was asked to rate it after looking over the track list I would have considered a 4. Listening to this album again brought me on a journey to a time of a tumultuous, and torrid love affair I was in at the time of release. An album that has the power to do that on a personal level deserves a 5

I asked mom if we can have Radiohead and she said we have it at home and gave me this.

Really wanted to like this in order to feel like I had a rogue opinion. Unfortunately everyone is right

Loved this album when it was released. They got kind of played out over the years but it was pretty amazing at the time. Very sweet and melodic

This album consists of beautiful songs that build, connect, and that are just amazing. I love Chris Martin’s voice and it’s so melodic and fits with the music perfectly. An incredible album from start to finish.

I love Coldplay! I love this album! On a repeated listen though, I love most of this album and I’ve gotten spoiled by all the music they make that I enjoy.

very good

One of my all time favorite albums

I miss this Coldplay. Every song is solid. I want this again.

Coldplay goes bombastic. Takes over the world. People immediately start to hate.

I like it a lot, good vibes

I will never not love this. Fun fact: "Clocks" is one of the only songs my elderly mother will sing along to in the car.

This album is so damn good. The run of songs from The Scientist to Warning Signs is just an impeccable collection of songs. The lyrics hit deep, Chris Martin’s vocals never disappoint, and the whole album is a five just based on the piano play on Warning Signs. My only critique is that I was 7 when this album came out and couldn’t experience it in real time but I plan on making up for lost time by playing the shit out of this album.

Now that's more like it. I'm a huge fan of Coldplay and always will be. I wouldn't have had a musical epiphany if it weren't for them. About the album, there's a lot of great songs in it. "The Scientist" is my favourite track of the record. 5 stars for "A Rush of Blood to the Head", a fantastic album.

HL: "Politik", "In My Place", "The Scientist", "Clocks", "Daylight", "Green Eyes", title track Definitely not 1st listen Parachutes is fine, but I like THIS I am a product of my environment (growing up in the 2000s), which in other words means I would put Viva la Vida or X&Y on a 1001 Albums of my choosing*, to say nothing of the Muse inclusions. But even without the orchestras of Viva or the arena-minded synths of X&Y, AROBTTH is prime sadboi jams. "Politik" is like a first stab at writing "Fix You", but almost as good, where "Green Eyes" is one of their best ballads. If you're not convinced by this album, put on "The Scientist" whenever something inconvenient happens: a breakup, a parking ticket, forgetting your toast in the toaster & then it's cold & dry. June 5, 2024 *Maybe even Ghost Stories, if I'm feeling frisky

I remember when this came out. Went to see the guys on the tour and it cost me about 20 quid. Unreal compared to todays prices. I always put coldplay in the lovey dovey basket but i forget how good the early coldplay stuff was before they went all pop. This was a great album. Politik all the way through to clocks is great stuff. Plenty of great harmony, vocals and piano. Very good catchy tunes. The album finishes strongly on rush of blood and amsterdam. Smokin! I'd give it a low 5/5.

I love this album I listened to it many times in my formative years and have not forgotten a word!

I sure do love me some Coldplay!! Man, they just have a way of touching all the feels. I cry everytime I sing to Coloratura, The Scientist..and Yellow always reminds me of mind and Marisols early days. 5 Stars

Instant fucking classic. I've gone back and through the years on Green Eyes -- weakest track in what's otherwise an incredibly good album. Makes me sad for what could've been.

A possibly perfect album? Cohesive, enjoyable to listen to, excellent opening and closing tracks, and great choice of a title track.

Potentially Coldplay’s best album.

It feels strange to describe an album as languorous AND deeply engaging, but here we are. Sonically cohesive, every song is obviously identifiable as fitting the Coldplay mold with the keening/crooning of Chris Martin at the fore. But variations in instrumentation, tone and energy ensured that it never felt like songs were running together or becoming indistinct. Green Eyes was my favorite, the acoustic guitar introductory riff hasd me playing it on repeat.

This a damn good album! From open to close. An amazing band and album!

I know I know. It's cool to shit on Coldplay. And yeah it's not even true that Coldplay is just a band you listen too while waiting for the next Radiohead record. But holy hell this record rips. Melody's for days, and some legit song writing make this a certified banger of a record.

What a wonderful album. I just loved it!

Brilliant music

Fantastic

Where to begin? Coldplay, whether you like it or not, are one of the biggest bands of the twenty-first century. And their second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head, was an international hit receiving tons of praise and three Grammy Awards. It is undeniably clear to see why; Coldplay's unique Alternative Rock style of AROBTTH matched with some incredible vocals, mixing and lyrics, makes for some astounding music; notably In My Place, The Scientist and Clocks. Aside from the big hits, Coldplay also released Green Eyes, Daylight, Politik, Amsterdam, and more underrated and underplayed songs that I would absolutely recommend. This album will always be a classic to listen to. Also I'm a massive Coldplay fan so that is also why I love this album so much

So good. It's likely nostalgia guiding my hand on this one, but I can't deny it.

In my opinion, by far Coldplay’s magnum opus. This was released during my sophomore year of high school, and there’s certainly some nostalgia at play, but I do think this is easily one of the top albums of the early 2000’s. Coldplay is arguably the biggest rock band in the world, and while not all of the rest of their catalog is awful (some is…) they’ve never come particularly close to executing an excellent album like this since. Clocks is still one of the strangest and best songs to become a massive hit. In My Place was my introduction to the band (I somehow missed Yellow) and is still a great song. The Scientist is one of the all time great love songs. Politik is a banger of an opener, and the title track is the highlight of the back half. It’s a masterpiece.

Some love hate them, some love them. I like them but whether it is love, hate or like this is an incredible album.

A great album with lots of memorable, fantastic songs. I love the momentum of this album. It comes out of the gate strong from the first notes of the first song and keeps it going through its entirety.

I will defend the first two Coldplay albums until my dying breath. I have consistently loved this album since middle school and it fills me with deep powerful nostalgic emotion.

The second Album of Coldplay is not so much known like the first Album "Parachutes', but the song from this album "Clocks", "In My Place" or "The Scientist" should be known. I like this kind of music and it was a great event to see Coldplay in New York - East Rutherford at MetLife Stadium at 2017-08-01 😊

These are one of the classic albums. can't go wrong in that. It's like listening to The wall or ok computer. Banger 10 out of 10

Absolute gold.

My favorite album so far on the list

Still holds up more than 20 years later. I fell asleep so many nights listening to this CD.

One of my favourite Coldplay albums, contains hit singles "In My Place", "God Put a Smile upon Your Face", "The Scientist", and "Clocks".

Great even though it is simplistic at times and he misses it on the high notes.

Amazing

i’m late on this one

I don't care what anyone says, Coldplay is the tits and this album makes me feel feelings.

Listened to it several times—easy to understand why they are so popular. Enjoyed the variety and playlisted a song.

- it has the scientist and clocks. immediate 5

Genuinely love this album. Songs that make you feel something with lyrics AND composition. Its held up so well sonically and doesn't feel dated at all. THIS is an album I think is a classic for good reason.

Oooh, this is gonna be an easy five stars from me. One of my favorite albums ever, and the best Coldplay album in my opinion. I was a big fan of their first four albums, seen them twice on their "Viva La Vida" tour (Budapest/Udine). "Clocks" is an absolute masterpiece! After "Viva La Vida" they totally changed the direction and basically became a genuine pop band... Not a fan of that part of their career, but still enjoy the singles like "A Sky Full Of Stars" or "Something Just Like That"... So, I guess I'm a boring basic person with no taste in music whatsoever. Go figure :-) 01) Politik - 10,0 02) In My Place - 10,0 03) God Put A Smile Upon Your Face - 10,0 04) The Scientist - 10,0 05) Clocks - 10,0 06) Daylight - 10,0 07) Green Eyes - 10,0 08) Warning Sign - 10,0 09) A Whisper - 10,0 10) A Rush Of Blood To The Head - 10,0 11) Amsterdam - 10,0 TOTAL: 10,0 (100/100)

I understand why Coldplay gets so much negative attention, and I really don't care for a lot of their newer "bigger" sounding songs, but this album is quite good. I forgot how much I like some of these songs.

A perfect album, start to finish. I know people like to knock Coldplay but Chris Martin is a great songwriter and the tunes in this album are phenomenal.

Grew up on this album, holds up well today.

This is my favorite and I just love how it starts!!

Love this album! Was a fan of their first album, but this follow-up was a huge leap forward! Living in California we saw them at an outdoor arena in the middle of nowhere and they were so good! It’s their best album. *****

One of my favourite albums of all time. An absolute classic. Bought it when it came out. Brilliant ❤️

Saw them on this tour at the LC. Feel lucky to have been able to do that.

Coldplay is alway good!

Great from start to finish

Man, Coldplay just gets in your feels. Lots of memorable tracks in this album. Loved it from beginning to end. Expected Marc rating: 4

When Coldplay was a really good band. Wonderful. I miss this Coldplay and not the shit they are doing nowadays.

One of my favourite albums of all time

Incredible record. Honestly slept on coldplay, I don't know why.

Absolutely phenomenal, one of if not Coldplay's best. Chris Martin's voice is so angelic and emotive on every song, sometimes even almost enough to bring you to tears. The pianos on every song are absolutely gorgeous, particularly the songs "The Scientist" and "Clocks" with having such iconic opening piano riffs. Honestly, fuck the Coldplay haters. This band is truly something special and if you can still convince yourself you don't like them, I urge you to listen to this album with an open mind. If you're in the right mood it will blow you away

An all time classic for me.

So good

the god song was weird but everything else was a win for me. the songs in this album scratched an itch that i didn’t know i had.

Melancholy and mellow, but really chill and kinda comfortable. A really great album.

Amazing, in my place and clocks are so emotional and beautiful

Such a beautiful album, one I will never tire of listening to.

This is the second album on this list that I had heard before, but it is the first one that I had heard before that I actually liked, never mind adored. This album is such an absolute classic. My seventh favourite of all time. Mercury Prize-nominated in 2003. The lyrics, the vocals, the instrumentation, the minimal production: all combine to produce a fabulous result, a beautiful work that makes me sad and joyous simultaneously for fifty-four minutes. Every single song is perfect, and so I love them all. (Except maybe The Scientist. The worst song on that record, but still quite good). My favourite is usually Politik, but some days it’s Amsterdam. Or the title song. Or Clocks. Or Green Eyes. Or… (Yes, I am a British/Irish teenager, and so yes, I am virtually obliged to like Coldplay and know all their hits, and yet, I still believe that this album would be fantastic performed by anyone else, at any point. It is not just the fact that Coldplay made it).

I know this isn't a perfect album but for me many songs here are incredible and I'm sure that twenty years from now I will have goosebumps hearing The Scientist.

All time classic

Straight after Doves? Weird. I used to really love Coldplay. Now I find them very irritating. Listening to this fine album reminded me why I liked them, and I'm no longer embarrassed to say they were a very brilliant group. Not a dud song on here.

Politik- 4.4/5 In My Place- 5/5 God Put a Smile Upon Your Face- 4.6/5 The Scientist- 5/5 Clocks- 5/5 Daylight- 4.7/5 Green Eyes- 4.1/5 Warning Sign- 4.6/5 A Whisper- 4.5/5 A Rush of Blood to the Head- 5/5 Amsterdam- 4.7/5 Total- 4.7/5

I'll be the first to go and bat for Coldplay - there are legitimate critiques in terms of how their sound has evolved over time but its hard to deny how strong their first two albums are. AROBTTH is soft rock pop perfection - whether you appreciate it or not, the hooks continue to hook.

I mean cmon

Green Eyes, In My Place, Amsterdam. Precioso.

Very Melodic!

Their best album. So good. The first two songs are the best openers and then the final two songs are the best closers of an album. Amazing.

A great record! Even after all this years I still love it.

Sometimes hard to distance the more recent stereotype of this band from the first few albums, but this one is incredible. A ton of emotion and great hooks. It's nostalgia points as this album was on repeat during a pivotal place in my life and "Green eyes" was played at my wedding.

A classic one full of bangers, before they became a load of shit.

5/5 - Iconic album which keeps a high level of quality throughout. The Scientist the obvious highlight but the whole album delivers.

I already knew some of the songs in this album. I think its a good album overall, pleasant to hear alternative rock. I love "in my Place", "Clocks" and "God put a smile upon your face". there are a few tracks that are just fillers in my opinion.

Impressions: I forgot that I loved Coldplay. A perfect album. Favorite tracks: Politik, In My Place, God Put a Smile Upon Your Face, The Scientist, Clocks, Daylight, Warning Sign Rating: 5/5

Thank you to whoever dropped this album off to goodwill when I was 12 Side note this is one of Mac Demarcos all time favorite album

Surprised I hadn’t listened to this all the way through yet. Was good!

A great album. I guess I dont pay attention to Coldplay hate or too old for it. Well executed album.

Classic

a perfect radiohead album

Nice Coldplay

coopah

Truly one of the best. The Scientist has Oasis vibes but with more of an intellectual element to it. In My Place, to me, feels like it address British social classism and it's invisible push to keep you anchored. Clocks is unique and I believe sets a precedent for others to follow. The album slips shoegazingly to an end thereafter.

This is such a good album. Scattered with instantly recognizable singles, it was nice listening to it all the way through to catch the non-radio-hit songs. It’s easy to forget or gloss over how good Coldplay is just because they’re so ubiquitous and popular—this group has multiple songs with over 1B streams on Spotify, and these were songs that went through their most popular phase well before Spotify gained traction! I listened to this album twice. Music I like, sound I love, no skippable songs, and definitely will listen to this album again in its entirety. I think this earns a five star rating.

Hooray for an album that was just right for the day! Yay! "Clocks" might well be one of my favorite songs of this century, and the rest of this album (which was mostly new to me) didn't disappoint. I would have sworn Coldplay has come up in this project before, but here we are, over 3/4 of the way through the project, and this is Coldplay number one. More please! There's not a moment on this album that I don't adore and I don't care who knows it.

Wow! It hadn’t ever really thought that I should be listening to Coldplay, but this album was really good. So easy on the ears!!

I can't believe it took us 768 days to get to Coldplay. So...finally. I don't think I've ever listened to an entire Coldplay album before but many of these songs were familiar just because I was alive during the past 20 years. I see why folks like them so much. I hope that someday I'll be able to tell the difference between them and Radiohead. (And to a lesser extent Oasis.) They occupy the same apartment building in my brainborhood.

I didn’t know much about Coldplay when this album was released - having only heard “Yellow” on the radio. This album got my full attention and made me a fan. An emotional album with very tender songs as will as songs that begin reaching for the stadium levels that later releases would embrace. A beautiful album I love from beginning to end.

Fantastic album. Couple filler tracks but brilliant

On their second album, Coldplay took their Radioheadesque intimate cosmos created on Parachutes and expanded it to consume the entire observable pop universe. 'Politik', 'In My Place', 'God Put a Smile Upon Your Face', 'The Scientist', and 'Clocks'. Complete powerhouse of an opening collection of songs, but it's in the final six songs where the group really gets creative. 'Green Eyes', 'Warning Sign', 'Amsterdam' and especially 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' are all magical. So that's 9/11 tracks being highlights? Pretty impressive. Almost as impressive as the guitarwork by Jonny Buckland on the record - constantly adding new layers, effects and licks perfectly suitable for the song at hand and surprisingly dissonant at times! This album is pop-rock perfection, and I will never get tired of listening to it.

Another early pop rock masterpiece from one of the world’s most divisive groups. Coldplay is following in the footsteps of Radiohead but further polishing the sound and making sure it reached literally every person on the planet. You can clearly hear, that ARoBttH and Parachutes are from the same era - the scope on this one is just infinitely larger.

The only Coldplay album I own

Coldplay get a lot of flak for being overly safe or a cheap knock off of Radiohead. But this is a solid album with great songwriting. It won't appeal to everyone but you can see why this album was so successful. A very comforting listen.

Classic

I think this album is a masterful display of musicianship it brings back some really fond memories of the 00's. It's odd to me how people can listen to this album and be completely unmoved. Even if you're not into Coldplay, the mix on the album is so organic and intense, and it's a really engaging listening experience in my opinion. The end of Amsterdam really brings the album full circle. So many things went right on this album

I've had this album on my phone forever but never actually listened to it from start to finish. Thanks to the generator for making me finally do that! The singles on this album are iconic.

A Politik 5 In My Place 5 God Put a Smile Upon Your Face 5 The Scientist 4 Clocks 4 Daylight 5 Green Eyes 4 Warning Sign 4 A Whisper 4 A Rush of Blood to the Head 5 Amsterdam 4 I'd been waiting for an album to come out of nowhere and grab a 5 and it finally happened. It took nearly 200 albums, but it happened. My only previous experiences with Coldplay involved hearing their biggest hits post-2008 on the radio. I always viewed them as another Maroon 5 honestly. I was floored by this album. It is so good. I need to listen to more Coldplay now.

One of my favorite albums of all time. I used to fall asleep to it every night.

LOVE this album so much. Not a new one for me, I've loved it forever and could listen to it on repeat all day long.

listened to again one of my favorite records

C'est plus ce que c'était....

I think I sleep on Coldplay too much. I knew a few good songs but never really dived into anything else. A really good album and it influenced me to listen to some more!

Amazing

Instant classic: I think that Coldplay deserve a little more respect than they are given bc I honestly enjoyed this record. It felt so familiar the second I turned it on with back to back bangers. Yeah people call them basic and repetitive but the nostalgia from these songs whether it be listening to them on the radio or my dad playing them in the car makes the album an instant classic for me.

A lot to love beyond the hits - most notably the album opener. They were certainly on fire as a band when they recorded this.

I love this. Layers upon layers provided by four excellent craftsmen, while remaining true to the storytelling roots of rock'n'roll. Classis Rock Poetry.

Alright I'll be honest, I've backed myself into a corner after my Parachutes review but I shall stand firm. Granted this isn't quite as perfect as their debut but what more do you need than Clocks and God Put a Smile.

it's so embarassing to have to give 5 stars to Coldplay. Chris Martin it's not like I like you or something... baka

Already familiar, one of my favs OAT

Wow, this album is simply beautiful. I remember getting this from my library in high school, downloaded and listened over and over. It's masterfully produced, composed, the writing is exceptional, the music is epic and the voice of Chris Martin shines so well with the musicians who compose Coldplay. A Rush of Blood to the Head deserves a complete listen through in one's life and I feel fortunate to have multiple passes at it. To me, this album is perfect.

Still a classic. For me one of the best pop records out there.

Rating: 10/10

De herinnering puts a smile upon my face.

Fantastisch album, Coldplay op z’n best. 2e helft album iets minder.

Great Album

Good fuckin album. Might be my first 5 star album

Coldplay was my favorite band for a number of years starting around the release of Viva La Vida. I threw myself into their music with the exuberance and devotion that only girls in their teens can. I’ve listened to this album too many times to count and it, along with other early albums of theirs, hold a level of nostalgia (for me) all their own. Top 3: In My Place, Politik, Green Eyes

great album! one of the best of the 2000s

Favoritas: -The Scientist -Clocks -A Rush of Blood to the Head -Ámsterdam

I forgot how complete an effort this album is. After 20 years I was hardly listening to these tracks individually. But as a start to finish listen it’s a gem with some introspection into 2001/2

Easy 5

This is peak stereo-shelf system with 5 disc changer, AM/FM and dual cassette era music. If you know you know. Definitely Coldplays best. I did actually listen to X&Y afterwards thinking that was the inferior album. It’s just more of it’s time. Still pretty good though actually.

I will admit I've never listened to any of the older Coldplay albums (I've heard some Coldplay albums in full but much much newer ones). Obviously there are some very famous songs on here which I'd heard before but of the ones that were new to me, I LOVED Politik, God Put A Smile Upon Your Face and the title track. This was everything I want from an album - extremely cohesive, musically interesting, well produced and lyrically clever (and quite lyrically vulnerable too) I am gutted that Coldplay don't sound like this anymore. I absolutely adored this from start to finish and I can't believe I've never heard it before. Is 20 years old enough to call this a classic album? This is definitely going in my regular rotation and it's a very easy decision for me to give this 5.

I kept getting distracted while listening to this album, so I gave it a third go to see if I could pick a few favourite tracks. I really enjoyed the whole album and will put Daylight and A Rush of Blood to the Head as my faves.

Much better than Parachutes. "Politik" was a nice song. I actually enjoyed listening to it.

Soft spot. Favorite album from my first favorite band.

I know it is fun to hate on these guys, but their first two albums - this being the second are really good. This one was ubiquitous to the point that I knew all the songs before I ever listened to it through the first time. It catapulted them to a level that may have sucked some of life from them until they made vida.

It’s a really good album, i listen it 3 times..

sad. very well done

Incredible. Start to finish.

Best coldplay album

Surprised to see this instead of Parachutes, but it’s still a great album

Kinda goated ngl

It put a smile upon my face. Essential early 00s british alternative. It's melancholy on a disc.

I have always enjoyed Coldplay but I had never listened to this album the full way through. Wonderful experience, so many good songs on one album.

Album sounds like a 2002 time capsule with sweeping pianos

one of their best album IMO

I miss when Coldplay were this good. I love this album from top to bottom. It’s not the bands best moment…they’re past it at this point, but it’s still stellar top to bottom.

Loved it!

Fantastic album, totally listenable. All bar one song which is pretty impressive.

I've listened to this enough times to know this is a really amazing album. While it has some of their most popular singles, the deep cuts offer more variety than straight piano ballads. It's much more rocking and offers the same warm and uplifting feeling from the last album. It's a classic album and one of Coldplay's best effort (aside from their next release after this one).

Absolute classic for me. Still holds up and love the piano on here.

classic bb

It does not blow me away like it did in the early naughties, but the album still sounds great throughout, so I'll be generous and give it 5 stars.

Very consistent set of perfect pop songs, with a warm sound and comforting voice.

I could listen to it for a long time

Pretty much flawless

A great one

Very good!!

an album I already revisit all the time

Solid pop album

I loved this album so much when I was a teenager. I remember when it came out I had 14, and it was beatiful. So deep, so well constructed.

Incroyable

They're no Beatles but Coldplay is still one of the best acts to ever come out of Ol' Blighty even if it does seem like poor Chris Martin is always desperately in need of a hug. Not all of the songs are bangers but that's not really the Coldplay vibe so I'm not bothered. Any of the non-hits would be cornerstone tracks for any other band. Their brilliance is just dimmed because they sit in the shadow of tracks like "Clocks" and "Amsterdam" which are monsters. It's a great album, no contest.

Amazing album

An absolute gem. Clocks is a brilliant song, but it's an undeniably solid album from front to back.

Peak coldplay. Definitely a singer-songwriter vibe with atmospheric elements and everything is pretty passionate and enjoyable. Easy to put on anytime.

Classic

One of my favorites. Great album to work to, to sleep to, or to listen. Really takes me back. Solid songwriting and musicianship. A master pop album.

Old favorite!

All time great

Can't beat early Coldplay!

Instant classic, one of the well defined albums of Coldplay that makes them who they are now. Politik - Chill start in the album. Beats Instrumental sets the stone. Voices supplement the overall mood that the song is portraying. Great buildup midway of the song

okay this album was actually really good I would call myself a Coldplay fan (because the fanbase is pretty annoying) but I can say that this album is a 10/10 and I started listening to it being biased against it every song just performs exactly the way it’s supposed to, it’s really well done still I don’t think I’ll listen to these songs in my free time, I can still value the work that went into this, creating such a high quality product

Great album

Such a great album

I liked. :)

Loved it

So incredible!! What else can I say? Brilliant lyrically and sonically.

I like this. Not my favorite album, but has the best song - The Scientist <3

Very good album 5/10 best songs were scientist and clocks

I enjoyed this album. Has a good vibe to have on while trying to get work done. very mellow.

gostei

I just enjoy Coldplay. Good band that is easy to listen to

El primer tirón del disco es impresionante: Politik, In my place, God put a smile upon your face, The scientist y Clocks.

for me a 5,

Sorry! Early Coldplay is totally a guilty pleasure of mine! I think it’s good! I think it works! Takes me back to my early teens! Watching videos from this album on Vh1 in the morning before school! A beautiful comfort to this album! I like it a lot!

Great record. Sonically speaking, Clocks does not belong on here, but still, great record.

Last good Coldplay album

This album is good, but not great. A lot of the songs kinda blend together, but none of them are bad. This is probably closer to a high 3, but after the past week of crap I've had this is a breathe of fresh air. Low 4.

They were good then even if a bit naff and too earnest. Ironic how Chris Martin could sing “give me real don’t give me fake” considering the awful shit Coldplay would come out with later on.

really liked this. dont get the hate

So sad that they didn't release more records.

Hear a few songs by Coldplay but never an entire album. This was very good

Foster was right. Bangers.
