Reviews (page 2 of 15)

Ok this list is fucking with me now. Radiohead on back to back days just as I called them probably the most overrated band ever. At least I heard of this record. This was definatley the best one yet. I’d consider giving it a 4 and yes I will. It’s good stuff.

Classic. Still hits hard today. One of those albums that seems prophetic.

Bought this in late 1997, after seeing Karma Police on VH1 (or MTV?), and hearing all the critical acclaim it was getting. Gave it the usual listen to, without really listening and wasn't super impressed. Mid-late 1998 gave it another listen to, and really was blown away. It has its time and place though - not something I'd listen to while in mood of either extreme. 4.5/5

Ok boomer

An absolutely beautiful album to listen to the day after your cat dies.

if you asked me on the spot to categorize radiohead into a genre i couldn't actually tell you what music they play. modern rock, maybe, kinda? in any case, second consecutive album i recognize. track 1, Airbag: the guitar starting at 2m30s in got me transfixed 8/10 track 2, Paranoid Android: the title makes me think of marvin from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and the vibe throughout could be mapped to that of the shown life of marvin from said work. regardless, solid 8.5/10 track 3, Subterranean Homesick Alien: mm, the REVERB on that guitar. good vibes here. 8/10 track 4, Exit Music (For A Film): this could absolutely be the ending music for a movie. 8/10 track 5, Let Down: i could give you a paragraph and a half about how people have been let down by society but uh. yeah just put this song on loop and stare at your ceiling for half an hour. 7.5/10 track 6, Karma Police: a lot of this album seems pretty melancholy, good vibes. 7/10 track 7, Fitter Happier: "more productive. comfortable." while it fits into the feeling that the album gives, it's not a song, so it will be exlcuded from the overall numeric rating track 8, Electioneering: this album came out in 1997 how are all of the songs still applicable to what's going on 25 years later. augh. good guitar in this one though 9/10 track 9, Climbing Up the Walls: it might be obvious by now but i'm not quite familiar with this genre enough to provide good insight into the components of these songs - instrumentation, meter, and especially the lyrics (i have terrible audio processing delay which is why all of these reviews are based on vibes and not lyrical intent), but even still i can feel the angst dripping off of these, and especially this one. i too feel like climbing up the walls. 8/10 track 10, No Surprises: the bells (glockenspiel?) add more than i thought they would to the overall feel. 8/10 track 11, Lucky: i came across a danny phantom fancomic while listening to the album, more specifically this song. reminded me of a good word to describe a lot of these songs. haunting. 9/10 track 12, The Tourist: "slow down." uplifting, if minorly, somewhat raising the listener back up out of the dive made into the album, complete with ding at the end. 8/10 overall: 8/10 -> 4/5. i imagine that if i looked up the album, there would be something on how its a commentary about life, and all of the ways people feel stuck or trapped. i welcome listeners (and readers, if you find yourself the type of person to read these reviews) to do that research if you find yourself yearning for it.

Is there another band that benefitted as much from their 3rd album as Radiohead did with this one? (Okay, just Googled that question and there's a ton: Born to Run, Dookie, Songs for the Deaf, Slippery When Wet, and so forth. Forget I even brought it up.) Anyway, yeah it still seems strange to me listening to this again for the 9,000th time that *this* is the record that scored higher with critics and audiences than The Bends. Especially on the heels of such a giant hit in "Creep," it makes zero sense in hindsight why The Bends was not more warmly received in the US than it was - and yet OK Computer was hyped beyond belief right out of the gate. I remember Matt Pinfield on MTV talking about how good this album was before it was released and then playing the video for "Paranoid Android." And you know, you hear that song the first time and it's real easy to go "What the hell is this?" Somehow people got it. Next thing you know, Radiohead is goddamn everywhere. The fact that they were the same band that hit with "Creep" became part of the narrative. It was like validation that they weren't just a one hit wonder and everybody was happy about it. BUT... The Bends exists! Why didn't that happen at the same level when "Fake Plastic Trees" and "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" were on MTV?? Those are easier songs to digest than "Paranoid Android," right? I. Do. Not. Understand. Society. But hey at least they got behind another good album. Listening now, I could lop off "Electioneering" and "Climbing Up the Walls," and probably be happier with the total package. But the guitars on "Let Down"... I will not ever get tired of that. Sad Radiohead makes me happy.

OK Computer by Radiohead (1997) This record came out when I was at the peak of my flight from popular music, and I’m sorry I missed it (although I wouldn’t have swapped it for Wagner, Mahler, and/or Bruckner). OK Computer is really good on this, my first serious listen. The lyrics are full of frustration, alienation, and unsystematic, aimless social/political discontent, including lament and personal anger over the way things are at the end of the second millennium. My kind of themes. But they lack polish, craft, focus, and emotional depth. Lyricist/lead vocalist Thom Yorke struggles to deliver the very creative melodies with confidence (especially on “Exit Music [For a Film]”, but much better on the more conventional “No Surprises”). However, the music itself is phenomenally creative and appealing, experimenting as it does with structure and sound, yet still remaining connected to 20th century sensibilities, chiefly by keeping the rhythm section steady. Bassist Colin Greenwood and drummer Philip Selway provide solid if not flashy foundations, while keyboards, synth, guitars, and well-placed strings fill the ears with polychromatic sounds and just the right amount of discord. “Fitter Happier” is a lovely little mockery of the self help industry, with more than a few chuckle-inducing gems. The song “No Surprises” (somewhat surprisingly) resonates in at least two 66-year-old ears, but let’s not get too personal. The cover art is a superlative example of successfully pairing a visual mood with a sonic mood. The album loses energy toward the end. I’m not sure it was a good choice to finish with the words “Hey man, slow down, slow down; Idiot, slow down, slow down”. Makes me want to take a nap or go grab a beer. But the overall effect of OK Computer is high creativity and musical excellence. Radiohead. Yes. I look forward to hearing more of their stuff. The Bends, In Rainbows, and Kid A remain for me on the 1001 Albums list. Stay tuned. 4/5

Radiohead’s music is so forgettable to me. Easy to listen to, not much to captivate.

7/10 Best songs: Paranoid Android, Electioneering, Climbing Up the Walls I have tried many times over the past 25 years to like Radiohead, but it just never stuck. Some complaints from this listen: Thom Yorke lacks anything even resembling enunciation skills, which in one way works since it turns his voice into a background instrument, but also doesn't work since I like listening to vocals and understanding lyrics; many of the tracks are far too long; it's a little one-note; there's a dreary sort of melancholy/apathy that permeates every track. That being said, some of the songs really hit for me, and when they aren't preoccupied with being ridiculously droning and dull, they are top tier. So yeah. Sorry, Radiohead fanboys: I am not one of you.

As a card carrying member of Gen X I think I’m required to love this album. Other than the 2-3 songs that got played in regular radio/MTV rotation the rest of the album sounds like people unsuccessfully playing around in the studio. So fair to say, I did not love the album.

Some absolute bangers, but ultimately not even close to my favorite radiohead album.

Nice depressing guitar music. Not as pretentious or inaccessible as the fans/critics say, but it still feels very calculated. Not vulnerable. Like… like U2 for X-ennials? I hadn’t heard ‘Let Down’ before but it stood out. ‘No Surprises’ is always good.

ive already listened to this one and radioheads ok idk they're zionists so that kinda spoils it sometimes i thought this thing was gonna be new music

3,5/5 When enjoyable, the songs where great at best, but nothing really special. Songs like Airbag and Paranoid Android had some decent and imaginative riffs, but they just don’t raise the quality enough to justify the albums runtime and less interesting and quite boring softer ballads. Though Karma Police and The Tourist where obvious highlight regarding the ballads.

i actually liked most of the songs back in maybe 2021 but now im feeling like that album shouldnt be 54 minute long. maybe 35-40 but not 54. and also i noticed that i actually dont even care about this at all like it has its highs but even in that songs i get bored before chorus comes in. dont get that praise from everyone. its worth listening for atleast once but I can say that listening to this album after a while, there is a feeling of disappointment in it, there is no longer such a thrill when listening as before. And it looks like there won't be any more. favourites: Paranoid Android, Let Down, Karma Police, The Tourist

Classic Radiohead

I'm new to Radiohead and am digging their stuff, but this one not so much as others. Barely a 3 for me (and that might be generous still).

"this is the most i have enjoyed ok computer by radiohead" is about as utterly un-meaningful of a statement as can possibly be made within the confines of my history with music, but it IS true. i last heard this in basically the sorest spot i probably could have, i was a lot earlier in my music journey but late enough to have certain solidified opinions and expectations (mostly about melodicism and my preferred Emotional Palate In Art), to which this did not conform and thus its universal acclaim felt like some sort of Attack On My Values. ig it should be more exciting to see such an illustration of my expanded horizons (in particular my tastes have run far enough towards expressionism that i finally understand the winding emotive beauty of the basic musical ideas), but its not like The Most Acclaimed Album Of All Time is the most meaningful discovery ive made in those horizions. and tbh this is still not totally for me,,,sci fi/dystopia is not my aesthetic home, their political commentary has always been deflated for me by their longstanding inability to do basic shit like boycott israel, and for as many sonic layers as there are here i just think radiohead became so much more free and expressive and vibrant when they finally dropped the Rock Band Pretense. but its easier to place my years of performative distaste in their proper context now, and enjoy some enveloping and Pretty and occasionally striking Isolation Jams. and honestly if i can appreciate this this much now, i might just totally love their kid a and onwards output now. azzy normie era strikes again!

Interesting. I know a lot of people hold this album in very high regard, but I still am not completely sold on the band. 3/5 Probably won’t listen again

Airbag - better than i thought????? have i been a radiohead hater for no reason????? wouldnt go out of my way to listen to this but it's enjoyable i like the guitar Paranoid Android - i like the guitar but my god thom yorke needs to stop being whiny and im saying this as a goth music fan. actually yeah im not really feeling this anymore lol Subterranean Homesick Alien - im liking the guitar on all of these the guitar sounds cool and spacey???? really like the synth too. tbh every time it threatens to be interesting it stops being interesting but i really really love the guitar effects Exit Music (For a Film) - acoustic guitar boy song idk what else to say. completely fine and acceptable i just think it's boring Let Down - a pretty song! i actually quite like this one i think it's okay Karma Police - oh karma police.................. certainly a song. not bad but like. i have no attachment to it. it's completely fine and listenable. Fitter Happier - i dont like it :( idk just not feeling it Electioneering - it's fine. it's an ok song. i can listen to it. Climbing Up the Walls - it's fine. No Surprises - ah yes the one song. it's pretty but like nothing special Lucky - a fine song again. it's nice but i wouldnt go out of my way to listen to it The Tourist - it's fine and ok. threatens to be good at some points OVERALL: Fine album, mostly fine songs. not really for me i dont think but it's listenable and has like one stand out song to me

Genres: Art rock, alternative rock, progressive rock, space rock Formed: Abingdon, Oxfordshire, in 1985 Run time: 12 songs, 53 min, 41 sec The least popular track on the album has over 22M plays on Spotify. The most popular “Karma Police” has nearly 4.5M plays and “No Surprises” has over 430M plays. While they aren’t as popular as Taylor Swift they have an enduring popularity and fan base. The lyrics are great, but the tunes are a little melancholy for my liking. The name ”OK Computer” is a Hitchhiker's reference and “Paranoid Android” is a reference to Marvin the depressed robot from the same radio series and subsequent book. I won’t listen to this album again but I may try some of their other material. My Rating: ***

and so I find myself listening to Radiohead once again, trying to find something interesting about it, and failing. Sure, it's musically and technically competent and well produced, but I just don't find any inspiration in the band. Lots of Radiohead fans in the Prog Rock community, but not me. Widely cited as one of the greatest albums of contemporary times, I did buy it but it went to the chazza a while back. Enigmatic and inspiring, or pretentious and flat? Your choice.

I appreciate the compositional skills of the song writers, I just don’t like the compositions. I would have liked this album if they actually “hit the gas” a few more times. The parts of Paranoid Android and Electioneering that got fired up were good. The rest of it was, for me, a melodramatic slog.

2 legendary songs but the rest was shit so 2/5 In Vlaams we call this ‘kattengejank’

original one star review: Music for people who cry when they masturbate. Editing this review because my original was really snarky and mean-spirited, and I regret it now. OK Computer is a struggle for me to listen to. My original snark was written after only listening to the first track and a half. Months later, I finally sat down and listened to the entire thing. While I still don't like it and will hopefully never listen to it again, there's enough decent guitar work on there for me to actually bump it up from a 1 to a 2. Maybe hit "did not listen" and sit with your reaction for a while when you get an album you know you don't like, kids. As for why I don't like it... it's way, WAY too depressing for me. I don't listen to music to end up in a worse mood than when I started.

This had to happen eventually. I know you're supposed to love radiohead but I've never understood. But like I've never listened to an actual album so maybe this will be a massive eye opener. It won't. But it could! But it won't. Still. Open mind. Boring noise so far! Sorry but paranoid android is just the polar opposite of what i want to hear when i press play on anything ever. MAYBE the guitar bit at the end is alright but that's probably just in comparison to the rest of it. One or two have started with a bit of instruments that's made me go 'ooh maybe this one's gonna be alright' and then inevitably Thom Yorke appears and ruins it. Let Down might be okay. But like I'd skip it on shuffle. Same with No Surprises and maybe MAYBE Karma Police if it was shorter. Like if either came on the radio at work I wouldn't actively want to throw the speaker against the wall but if they came on the radio in my car I would immediately change the station. This is me trying to be positive. Fitter Happier best track (no Thom Yorke voice). Start of Electioneering i got excited but actually in attempting to do an upbeat one have they just done a mid oasis track. Still probably my actual favourite song here - chance that i wouldnt change the station if it came on the radio in my car- but objectively possibly the worst?? Genre issue ig. Here's the positive takeaways: 1. I can mostly tell the songs apart, I can appreciate some of whats going on instrumentally, it held my attention even though i didn't enjoy it. Contrary to my bad attitude i'm giving it more than a 1. 2. if No Surprises was The Slow Number on a different album i would probably like it. It's a good song. 3. having actually listened to ok computer in full i can understand why a person that isn't me might want to listen to radiohead. 4. I can back up saying I Hate Radiohead with having actually listened to ok computer in full. Is that okay. Can I go now.

# 507 : OK Computer I hate Radiohead. Most overrated band and album ever. So whiney… If I had to pick a song : Karma Police Listened : 20/06/2025

3rd Radiohead album in for me on here, and it’s the big 1 and I just don’t get it, the critical overvaluation. It’s all stated for it’s complexity but it just doesn’t feel that revolutionary or coherent. It might be innovative it maybe is all the things the fanatics (their fans really seem to be up there with the most rapid; so many mentions of masterworks, of Magnus opus this Magnus opus that) and critics say it is, and I just don’t care after listening to it, It sounds like all the self pitying, self indulgent aspects of Gen X (yes I am 1 too) rolled into a big ball, as back in ‘97 we rolled towards the millennium. So maybe it is the zeitgeist of that, and thus so beloved. But it is so very, very pretentious. Enough said, have now heard it, this great of great albums, and after a few listens today I won’t be revisiting it ever again, life is too short, after the big opening riff and then the drop into such whining where it remains. 1.5 Stars, it’s obviously not shit but actually I think it is.

A little too experimental and weird for me.

Whiney and boring

why so whiney? so whiney

Lame. Scott Tenorman can keep all the Radiohead

Never was fan back in the days, but thought about giving them a second chance. Could not stand any song longer than 45 seconds - but karma police.

I'm trying to be polite on this site, but, sorry, this band is going to be an exception. Radiohead SUCKS

whiney and annoying, i’ll never understand the appeal

At its core this is a 90s version of 70s Pink Floyd, with occasional glitches and splashes of more recent music. Dreary

The fifth (5!!!) Radiohead album on this list. What a joke! Thom Yorke's singing... yeah right. More like torturing a cat! Fuck off!

I like no surprises. That's it.

Who listens to this shit?

Ugh. This is the 6th Radiohead album. The other five have all received a one. Seriously, why? I know this is supposed to be one of their better albums, but it was consistent with their other albums. It is just annoying and I did not want to listen. But I did. I am rounding down.

Just my least favourite band and album on this list so far, but I'm not surprised to see them on here. Overrated, banal, passionless, pointless.

I'd rather eat my own feces than listen to this guy's whiny, off-key vocals ever again.

Karma police is aways good, fitter happier is weird and the rest is very radiohead

What can you say? May be greatest of all time

this thing just keeps wanting to give me perfect albums huh…

WOW… every time I listen to this album it gets better. Sooooo many masterpieces. 5/5… no notes.

One of the few albums on this list I already owned. Lives up to the hype. I understand how this could not be your thing, but I do think it’s a musically very interesting (and maybe important?) album. I love it. 10/10 Godlike

Ma chanson préférée est No Surprises.

This is an extraordinary album. I slept on Radiohead for a long time. If I could go back I would slap some sense into myself and give me a good talking to. The album is melancholic and feels closed in. The more I listen, the more I appreciate each song.

I remember being there, thinking that Radiohead were tge greatest musical geniuses who ever lived. I've since matured past that phase now, but Goddamn this is still easily one of the greatest albums ever made. Sure, it's notoriously the "gateway" into more niche and experimental music, but considering how early I got into this album in the development of my music taste, I still holds up insanely well. It's psychological, haunting, and futuristic, all at the same time. It's such an otherworldly experience listening to this, and the brilliant atmosphere of each and every track is unmatched.

Ok, I think I get it now. This was so moody, surreal, psychedelic, emotional, depressing, any number of other words. It starts slow, but the emotional peaks in Climbing up the walls through to Lucky are jaw dropping. I will definitely be returning to this.

Masterpiece. Contender for the greatest album of all time, I've been listening to this since I was a kid and I only love it more as time passes. Climbing up the Walls and Man of War (actually on the second disc but hey) are highlights & underrated.

Pues si

There is nothing I could say about this album that hasn't been said, this is a 5 star album and it's not even my favorite RH album (I'm excited to see Kid A eventually)

It’s July 5th and I spent my night dealing with fucking neighbors shooting fucking fireworks until 1:00 a.m. To hell with all of you. There’s my review. This album is legendary.

Haven’t listened in ages. Still so great

Peak Radiohead. Songs that are just the right amount of experimental and every experiment works. Paranoid Android is comparable to Bohemian Rhapsody. No Surprises is the most hauntingly beautiful songs I've ever heard. It's not an album without dullers but it's near perfect.

hat mich leider sau

I absolutely remember when this album came out, changed what I thought about what was rock, what was grunge and made it become almost art. Super complex album with lots of layered sounds, can come across as depressing but that was a lot of the late 90's, paranoia was prevalent as we transitioned into the digital age, the internet was starting to boom so you could feel more connected and yet alone at the same time. Certainly a product of its time, has aged beautifully. Still gets a regular listen. Ive said before that an album was one of the easiest 5 star albums but this one probably is the easiest (so far!)

theres not much to say about one of the albums talked the most about. i love everything about this album.

Been on this album for years now and it ALWAYS hits. Contains some of my favorite Radiohead songs of all time, and this album as a whole demonstrates what RH can produce when they're at the top of their game & everything comes together just right. Arguably the best RH album out there (though I oscillate between favorites) - a top album of 1997 for sure, and a very worthy inclusion on this list. Favorite tracks: Karma Police, Climbing Up the Walls

Before a friend told me about this site, I had started listening to some albums that I hadn't listened to and that were considered some of the best out there. This is one of the albums I'd listened to. I discovered Radiohead way, way too late in my life. 19 year old me would have loved everything about this album and would probably have listened to it non stop for a month or two. Now I'm older, and I still love that sound, but it doesn't resonate with me in the same way it would have back then. Still, 5/5 for my parallel universe twin who fell in love with this album.

Nearly 30 years since, still a banger.

I think I could listen to this album over and over again. In fact I find myself revisiting it again today for a second listen. Karma police was everywhere when I was 15. That video. Electioneering is probably my favorite of the album. 5 stars no skips. I wish I had jumped on the bandwagon with my friends back in the 90's. Would love to see these guys live.

Ah, I remember this album. I listen to it often, still. What a great listen. More Nigel Godrich. This is one of the bands I'm a big nerd about, so I'm just going to rate it 5 stars and not write a whole novel.

Absolute masterpiece, the best album they ever made, bar none. Highlights-Airbag, Paranoid Android, Subterranean Homesick Alien, Exit Music (For A Film), Let Down, Karma Police, Climbing Up The Walls, No Surprises, Lucky, and The Tourist.

This was the first fully album I was truly obsessed with - I listened to this so many times, it's masterful imo

Unbelievable album...like phenomenal! I am OBSESSED with Paranoid Android!

classic and an eternal banger

It's so rare to find a record with character, melody, and meaning in its lyrics - but this is one of those few. Hard to believe it's this good.

Perfection

Başyapıt. Fazla söze gerek yok.

really liked: Paranoid android Climbing up the walls already known: Exit music Let down Karma Police No surprises overall liked every song

transcending the game

Already heard, think it is one of the most iconic albums. Pure classic. One of the B-Sides: Man of War is one of my favorite Radiohead songs

I’ve heard this before and I own it. It’s been ages since I last listened to this even though it was a favorite of mine for many years after it was released. I’ve forgotten how good this album is and also how they were a great standard rock band before they started delving into electronics. It’s an overrated album but it’s still fantastic.

Sublime and perfect set of experimental songs combining to make one of the greatest albums of all time.

Generational album

Like many Americans, my first exposure to Radiohead was Creep when it became ubiquitous in 93. But unlike many Americans, my opinion of creep was very much meh. I've heard that the band itself holds the song with a certain disdain, which seems to validate my reaction. It wasn't until The Bends was released a short time later that I came to appreciate Radiohead. And a few years later when I first heard Paranoid Android, that's when I recognized that Radiohead wasn't just leading the pack of 90s bands, but pulling ahead into a league of their own. I feel like OK Computer walks that fine line of innovation while being completely accessible, whereas Kid A falters on the latter. There are so many great moments on this album. Paranoid Android feels like a multi-movement suite. Karma Police has been confirmed to be a nod to the Beatles' Sexy Sadie. I love Exit Music for a Film, particularly where the drums kick in just before the 3 minute mark... it's an arrival moment that is so satisfying. I feel like every track has some kind of payoff like this with the exception of Electioneering... this song just doesn't seem to fit musically with the rest of the album. It's like they were channeling Bob Dylan for a song then snapped out of it. While Nirvana Nevermind in many ways defined music of the early 90s, I feel like OK Computer defined the late 90s going into the 2000s.

I love just about everything the band does on this album. It combines wonderful instrumentation with genuine emotion throughout, offering just about everything I could want. So excited to spend more time with this beautiful record. 1 re-listen Favorite Tracks: Paranoid Android, Let Down, The Tourist

Love this!

Perfect.

perfect album for a cloudy day

Amazing album! I can see Radiohead taking a more experimental and electronics approach to their music. It seems to blend the sound of their earlier work with their later work to get this sort of compromise. This is why they call it peak Radiohead. Truly wonderful!

Best Song: Paranoid Android When it comes to Radiohead albums, it is always hard for me to pick my favorite. This happened to come up on my list when this album happened to be in the rotation anyway, so it was a huge win. I'm not sure if this is my favorite, but it is in the top 2. Anyway, a great album with, quite possibly, the best song by Radiohead, in my opinion, Paranoid Android. However, just because I like the album doesn't take away the hate I have for some of the Radiohead fans. You know the ones, the hipsters who drink Pabst Blue Ribbon "ironically" because they can't admit worshipping Radiohead doesn't pay well. Personally, I don't listen to music to justify my PhD in music theory but because I enjoy it. If you have to separate the art from the artist, I suppose sometimes you have to separate the douchebags from the bands they worship. 5/5.

i love you radiohead

An album that is very deserving of its legacy as one of the best albums of the 90s. Haunted, paranoid and angry OK Computer still has a remarkable energy and disquieting vibe decades later.

mmm play that fye shit again Rating: 9.3/10 Fave songs: Let Down, No Surprises, Exit Music

Was this the last album I fell for, unreservedly, before Taste Freeze set in? Maybe! (Just joking. Sorta.) Anyway, this is the album that gave us a clue where an already-brilliant band was headed. Thom Yorke’s vocals were still satisfyingly foregrounded, but the band was definitely headed in a much more experimental, free-form direction. The concept ties everything together in a very interesting way. Was the bridge between The Bends and Kid A actually the band’s best stop ever? Maybe.

No surprises here. Five every day of the week. Probably the most important album in expanding my musical horizons as young’un. Let Down was always my favourite and, though it is not particularly a force for good, TikTok has raised the status of that song considerably. My nephew, who is doesn’t have a particularly diverse musical diet, was singing along with it - something I never would have imagined.

Impossible to step back from the formative influence this had as an impressionable youngster. I’ve appreciated the step up from ‘the bends’ that this was as I’ve grown older, particularly (after listening to this through again) the wonderful textural elements added to most songs (Goodrich’s influence?). It is full of wonderful moments: the bass drop of ‘exit music (for a film)’; the 2nd verse “glorious day” in ‘lucky’; the added guitar layers in ‘paranoid android’, the whole frisson inducing build up to the last verse in ‘let down’. The themes on this album continue to have been prescient, and hasn’t grown old. Still love it.

Fantastic album! I reckon it is Radiohead's best album.

Lest my previous statements lose objectivity I still think it's crazy to put six Radiohead albums on the list despite my affection for their work. Radiohead has always occupied a semi-familiar status. I don't think I've listened to most of their albums in entirety and not on steady repeat. I have a handful of their work on my playlist scattered across several albums. While this isn't probably my first listen through OK Computer it may be my first in a long while and my first time actually focusing in on my opinion of it. A lot of great tracks on this album that I knew (Paranoid Android, Exit Music (For a Film), Kharma Police) tracks that I enjoyed that I didn't know previously (Subterranean Homesick Alien, No Surprises). Overall I enjoyed everything on offer here. Definitely would listen again, and again. The combination of Yorke's voice, the soundscapes, the way a song can build to a powerful belting anthem and then drop back down to a humble cry. This feels like an album worth spending your time listening through.

I can recognise genius when I hear it. Just don't ask me to describe why it is, in fact, genius. Wholly original, inventive, and skilfully arranged. Easily 5 stars.

My reaction as soon as I saw this was my album for today: f*** yes. That is all.

One of the best albums of the 90’s and ever. One of my favorites.

I may love The Bends more, but this is almost certainly the "better" record, all things considered.

Virtually flawless album. It has its bumps and nicks, sure, but I don’t that that takes away from the importance of what this album has to say or the character it has. Even the criticisms of this one’s shortcomings seem invalid because they mesh so perfectly with the narrative/ideas of the album that it doesn’t even bring down the quality of it!

well i already knew it but it was still a good listen fasho

#151/1001 🇬🇧 I listened to Radiohead so much back in the day, but its years since i've listened to this. For me its their best album and it came out at time when a lot of the UK alternative scene was becoming quite turgid. Best tracks Paranoid Android, Karma Police, Climbing up the Walls, No Suprises, Lucky.

A total classic. Not a bad track on it. Still sounds as good today as it ever did. And not even their best album. Or maybe it is. 5/5

RATING: 10/10 HIGHLIGHT: Let Down LOWLIGHT: Exit Music (For a Film)

Just such an amazing band progression from pablo honey via the bends to this.

erm muy 2000 ero se quedo atras

I might need to buy super nice headphones or install a surround sound system just to listen to this album again and be swallowed by really sick tunes

This one is quite obvious on the list, but it doesn’t change the fact that it still is one of those era defining records the had and have an huge effect to production and artistry over genre limits. OK Computer sits in perfect balance between more traditional songwriting of The Bends and the more experimental sounds of Kid A/Amnesiac. It's experimental, but it also includes many absolute Radiohead signature songs from Paranoid android to No suprises and many more...

Prior to this record, I just thought Radiohead was ok. I saw them open for R.E.M. on the Monster tour, they were supporting The Bends. They were just ok. Not a great live band, but enjoyable. Then I bought OK Computer on a whim. I was floored. It’s a perfect album. Honestly, Fitter Happier is not a great stand alone song, but in context, it’s obviously relevant. 4.9

Classic

Amazing

Best thing of all time, don't argue with me.

Everything that's ever been said about this masterpiece has been said. The second I post this review, it'll get buried by thousands of others. But THAT'S exactly the beauty of this album. No matter who you are, this album will find you if you look. And after that, it'll inspire you. Not just to write a review, but to do something greater, something more, no matter what that may be. The political commentary, the commentary on humanity in general, the layers of complex sound, the chord progressions following the poetic progressions of the lyrics, and the direct inspiration taken from all across the musical tapestry are just some of the brilliant details that found their way to me personally. I'm sure I'm missing a thousand others. It might be a basic take to say "OK Computer good." But it's something I can't deny, no matter how much the monkey inside my brain that craves uniqueness and attention fights it. Because the capacity to hit every single soul in some unique way is what makes OK Computer the greatest commentary of all time. And the whole album does so by painting the most beautiful picture of all - not a car crash, not a carbon monoxide poisoning, but a picture of humanity. No matter how flawed. Because the technically perfect delivery of a robot in "Fitter Happier" will never sound as beautiful as a Thom Yorke voice crack. Best: I mean honestly take your pick Worst: Worst OKC song is an oxymoron Liked songs: 11/11, 100% High 5

Enjoyed the sadness of it all. Really well written with depressingly poignant lyrics and music to accompany. 5/5

Hi. My name's [redacted], and I hate Radiohead. Or, at least, I did. I've hated this band since the 90s. I don't know what is happening to me here, but I've listened to OK Computer over and over again since it came up (and I decided to give it a fair chance). I'm not sure how it took me until [redacted] years old, but....Holy crap. You guys. Does anyone else know about Radiohead? I'm not even sure who I am right now.

I've been putting off listening to this album for a while, to try and separate myself from all the praise it's received and not to let it colour my review of it. That said, it brings something I've known about myself for a long time, but never really admitted to someone else before. A bit of disclosure; my insecurity around needing to like the same things as others just to have a reason to connect to them or, on the other hand, to not like something so that I don't get criticized for liking it has defined a lot of my experience in life. I am so deeply afraid of being alone, I will shape myself and my likes around others. Even at 34, I realize it's still happening. I am pretty sick and tired of it. **************************************************************** Genuinely loved the muddy guitars, simple bassline and Yorke's vocal style on "Airbag", this was a strong way to start the album. If the rest of the album is this on the edge of being mysterious and somber, I'll probably love it. The first time I listened to "Paranoid Android" didn't really go in, as I spent all my mental power trying to make sense of it's totally whack MS Paint animated video. The second go around, I still don't quite understand the hype around this track. It's doing some interesting things in each of it's sections, such as aggressive reverbed guitars in one part, then hymn like backing with an accompanying acoustic guitar and Yorke's signature melancholic voice in another. At the very least, it does have the feeling of being a full musical journey in a single track. The arrangement at the beginning of "Subterranean Homesick Alien" was gorgeous, capturing that otherworldliness perfectly. I really enjoyed this track. "Exit Music (For A Film)" did an amazing job of slowly building and explosively releasing the tension it builds across the track; Yorke really shows that he has range in his voice with this track. Powerless to break down "Let Down" and "Karma Police" honestly, but I enjoyed them, possibly for similar reasons that I have listed above. Yorke's voice and the instrumentals seem to never take priority over the other when they are sharing space and I think that's why it all works so well. It sounds pretty banal now that it's typed out, but I can think of dozens of times on this journey already where the vocalist just drowns out the instrumentation or falls completely below it, coming over as narcissistic or weak respectfully. All enjoyed: "Electioneering", "Climbing Up the Walls" (sonically, those grimey riffs, deep percussion and Yorke's fuzzy vocals were sick)... No, time to stop and talk about "No Surprises". By god, it gave me the same feeling as Pink Floyd's "Time", one of these songs that comes along and just completely rocks your world and makes you realize the stupor you float through life in. To think, 29 years on from release (at time of writing) and so many of us would still feel how Yorke describes. With the lullaby tones as well, to remind that we all wish we were kids again. ...and back again, with "The Tourist". Aside from Paranoid Android, though I'll give it another couple of chances, I see why this is rated so highly. Every song genuinely feels like it has a purpose and is executed in a myriad of unique ways. In short, I f***ing loved this album.

9.5/10. One of the best albums in history. Every track feels like it belongs, and the atmosphere is insane. It’s not just a great alternative rock album—it’s one of those records that explains why albums matter. A true classic.

Airbag - 4.5/5 Paranoid Android - 5/5 Subterranean Homesick Alien - 4.5/5 Exit Music (For a Film) - 4.5/5 Let Down - 5/5 Karma Police - 5/5 Filter Happier - 3.5/5 Electioneering - 4.5/5 Climbing Up the Walls - 4/5 No Surprises - 5/5 Lucky - 4.5/5 The Tourist - 4.5/5 I'd like to thank the generator for giving me OK Computer literally 2 days after I got their prior album The Bends. And thanks to that I see how they evolved from a run-of-the-mill grunge band with 1 alright song to a band that breaks out of the grunge and Britpop labels that had defined their past two albums. I wouldn't say this is close to being perfect but it's about as close as you can get. Outside of the weird transition track there really isn't a single skip on here. Phenomenal album. Overall: 5/5 Favorites: Paranoid Android, Let Down, Karma Police, No Surprises

Classic!!

Young buck thinks I haven't heard ok computer

Классика

I'm not even sure a review is necessary here, at least coming from me. This is my favorite record of the 90s. On the right day, it's my favorite record. RH would go on to make several more spectacular albums, all very different from this one, but they captured something special here. The unease creeping into the edges of a society that was “happy” and “prosperous”. All of that bore out, starting just a few years later with the dot com bust, followed quickly by recession and 9/11. The disassociation from normal society that was whistling past the graveyard is perfectly captured in Subterranean Homesick Alien. The fear and loathing is spot on in Climbing Up The Walls. Even a song written for a modern remake of Romeo and Juliet, Exit Music (for a film) captures the longing and desperation of a generation raised by the promises of previous generations that they never intended to keep. A lot of this material was worked out on the road and it crackles with that live energy. And yet also is very much a studio created masterpiece. I haven't even mentioned the biggest songs, all of which were instant classics: Airbag, Paranoid Android, Karma Police. And now, thanks to Tik Tok, Let Down. I could continue to list songs, but you get it. I love this album. 1000/5

Phenomenal. Listened to it before but listened to it again...3 times. Groundbreaking, deep, weird, and beautiful. Even Fitter Happier is a banger. Electioneering and Climbing Up the Walls are my faves. Might listen to it one more time tonight.

Hell yeah

Eins der besten Alben aller Zeiten. Geile Tracks und Athmosphäre. 9/10

Formative.

This album is the bridge between their earlier rock and their own, more experimental sound on later albums. I like Radiohead but a new listener needs to understand that this is not easy listening background music. It is dense, complex and often intense. Thom Yorke is the man but Jonny Greenwood and the others are also very important. I'm not I can pick their best.

Yep, knew this was likely getting a 5 before listening to it.

a true masterpiece + epic hitchhiker's reference!!!

Happened to see in Wikipedia (I don't usually read Wikipedia before listening, but I do use it to see how many tracks there are on the album, as it was first released) that Thom Yorke said that this album was influenced by the "incredibly dense and terrifying sound" of Miles Davis's "Bitches Brew" album. Huh. Not sure I hear that, but kinda/maybe/sorta? Anyway, an interesting thought to chew on. Anyway, the album came out almost 30 years ago (!), in 1997 -- i.e., before Sam, and Ray just a baby. Has there been anything as good, since then? (Not thinking of anything, off the top of my head.) I will admit that, while about half (6 of 12?) of the songs are familiar to me, and all-time greats, the other 6 are not as familiar. But, still, even those lesser-known (to me) songs are good to very good, so I think I can safely give this a solid 5 stars. Also, doesn't sound dated to me at all.

One of my fav albums

I didn't appreciate the first time I heard this, maybe 15+ years ago. I wasn't impressed, I didn't see the wow factor. Today, it felt like a slow burning film. Like those movies with philosophical directors that use film in a weird, slow, beautiful way. So in the background, it kind of feels so generic it's annoying. I really appreciate that when I listen to it intently, it's executed so well that it's pleasing, this project can feel so very satisfying. This is thought out deep in the quality of its production, in the quality of the composition, in concept. It's the second time a Radiohead album fuzes so well with the natural soundscape of real life that it amplifies the listening experience. My neighbor could've started mowing their lawn and it would've gone along fine. This is impressive in a way that feels like it should be in a museum, or on a very very short list of must listens. I would absolutely love to have this one in my collection, though it does definitely shy from my typical cloud of genres. It feels a little VH1-y a lot of the time, especially when it's not listening for the sake of enjoying music in general, so I'm not sure it's a record for a frequent replay. As far as music for the sake of enjoyment, I believe Exit Music is a beautiful piece that I can't wait to add to every playlist that will accept it. 4.5/5

Absolutely incredible album, one of the best ever. Alt rock approached with a new inventiveness and forward thinking. Not relying on expectations and preconceived notions of a genre or sound. It sounds new and fresh, but remains very cohesive and complete. No notes and an album I can never get tired of.

Hell of a way to start!

90s classic. Alternative hit after alternative hit. Exit music for a film still slaps like not many things do

A great sad album.

yeah it's good of course but Hail to the Thief is better cause it has more interesting rhythms

Nobody can say shit to me about OK Computer. Show me another album that says as much about the goings-on in society, both back in the '90s up until current day, while causing such steady and consistent frisson.

Fitter, happier, more productive Comfortable, not drinking too much Regular exercise at the gym three days a week Getting on better with your associate employee contemporaries At ease Eating well No more microwave dinners and saturated fats A patient, better driver A safer car Baby smiling in back seat Sleeping well, no bad dreams No paranoia Careful to all animals Never washing spiders down the plughole Keep in contact with old friends Enjoy a drink now and then Will frequently check credit at moral bank Hole in wall Favors for favors Fond, but not in love Charity standing orders On Sundays ring road supermarket No killing moths or putting boiling water on the ants Car wash, also on Sundays No longer afraid of the dark or midday shadows Nothing so ridiculously teenage and desperate Nothing so childish At a better pace Slower and more calculated No chance of escape Now self-employed Concerned, but powerless An empowered and informed member of society Pragmatism, not idealism Will not cry in public Less chance of illness Tires that grip in the wet Shot of baby strapped in back seat A good memory Still cries at a good film Still kisses with saliva No longer empty and frantic Like a cat, tied to a stick That's driven into frozen winter shit The ability to laugh at weakness Calm Fitter, healthier and more productive A pig in a cage on antibiotics

Couldn't find the words and then found too many. Five stars.

It's hard to think of a more perfect album (for me) than this one. Keeps getting better and better.

One of my all time favs

Radiohead at the height of their powers.

These past few days have been a real treat - this is the third day in a row of 5-star albums. I first heard a few tracks from this album a long time ago, back when I was in college (yes, I’m that old!). It wasn’t until a few years later that I listened to the album in its entirety; since then, I’ve listened to it a few more times. It’s one of those albums that never seems to age; it brings back so many good (in my case!) memories—more than enough reasons for it to be a true classic. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, as expected

Stunning flow, provocative lyrics, intricate instrumentals. Absolutely one of the greats.

Love Radiohead and this album. Some days this is my favorite album of theirs, others may hit better depending on my mood, but this will always be a top 2-3 Radiohead album. No skips (would never listen to Fitter Happier on its own, but in context of the album it works). 5/5.

Went into this listen familiar with most of the songs and aware that it is the top rated on besteveralbums.com ... and I gotta say it lives up to the hype for me. Sounds amazing and so much lyrical depth.

Excellent

Incredible from start to finish. I was familiar with a chunk of the album already but some new standouts to me were Airbag and Lucky. The only slight criticism I could have is that sometimes it was a little hard to understand the lyrics, but considering the shite Thommy is spouting these days that might be for the best.

Crazy that this can be one of the generation’s best albums but not the band’s best.

YOU'RE NOT COOL FOR PRETENDING THIS ISN'T A PERFECT ALBUM Every song is near-perfect, and Radiohead accomplishes exactly what they want to with this album. The concept, the songwriting, the production (THE PRODUCTION!!), and even the album cover are a perfect encapsulation of the isolation and anxiety that OK Computer sets out to tell you about. I am a D1 Radiohead fanboy, but this is a perfect album, man.

This was a fantastic album that was emotionally charged and filled with great lyrical meaning and instrumental.

95/100. An exceptional album. The alternative rock sound carries a psychedelic weight that really pulls you in. This is a record I’ve been meaning to listen to for years, and it absolutely did not disappoint. Probably Radiohead’s best work.

Top 10 album

Love this album. I've never sat down and listened to this one all the way through and after a couple of run throughs, it may be my favorite Radiohead album.

Obviously one of the best alt-rock albums of the mid-90s. It's just so coherent and sonically fabulous. Hell, I bought a Boss PS-2 just so I could do that delay screech with the rolled-off low end that's heard at the end of Karma Police.

Amazing

Seminal album. I remember my first time listening to it at uni and just having my mind blown. Absolutely ground breaking and actually it's as stunning as it was all those years ago

10/10 Another day, another 10, another album that makes me feel 16 again. OK Computer is the sound of becoming an adult and realising that a lot of things aren’t as great as your parents made you think they were. Best song: Paranoid Android Best moment: the ‘rain down’ bit at the end of Paranoid Android

I've never fully explored Radiohead but this is the one album I know. And I Like it a lot!!

Classic Radiohead. One of the best albums of the 90s

Wow. Well this gets a 5. I’m sorry I am a 1% Radiohead fan. I listen to a lot of music and over the years, Radiohead ends up being at the top. They just do. This was the album that introduced me. I loved it the first time I heard it. Almost 30 years later (!) and I know every moment. This doesn’t make me love it less. Some albums don’t age well. Sometimes I go through a re-listen of music I was intensely into at an earlier point and quickly grow fatigued wondering what I was enamored with all those years ago. Not so here. But, I will say, I have realized in the silly “who is your favorite Radiohead” inquiry, in the midst of the moaning about Thom’s moaning and comments about Johnny’s neurodivergence, it is, and always be: Phil Selway! My god the man is a genius! Rock on Phil! Boolean rating: YES, I am very glad to listen and keep on listening until I can listen no more.

What can I say that hasn’t been said already about this groundbreaking album? While I still prefer the Bends, this album as the start of the metamorphosis of Radiohead from a guitar band to something more post modern and obtuse. I’m still adjusting to the post-modern Radiohead, but I don’t mind this bridge at all.

My second favorite Radiohead album of all time, it's just a masterpiece

i cried to no suprises

beautiful

Absolute Master piece!

Coming into this album I knew the hype around it and tried not to fall into just automatically going with the crowd and giving this a high score to appear “cultured”. However, this album really doesn’t miss - I was surprised at the amount of the songs I knew on this album, and the overall sound, lyricism, and flow of the album was a pleasant surprise even with my lofty expectations coming into it. I understand now why this is hyped as one of the best albums ever.

29 years old next month!! Still amazing, still 10/10 On the shelves, twice. Heard before ✅️ Listened this time ✅️ Revisit ✅️ ★★★★★ (10/10) Total reviewed : 303 Already owned : 69 Purchased : 15 To buy : 4 Nope : 215

Amazing. Invokes all the feels. Don’t know how it took me this long to listen to.

Masterpiece.

"It's gonna be a GLORIOUS day" - my thoughts when this album popped up this morning. This is an absolute masterpiece, packed full of wonderful tracks. It beautifully conveys feelings of anxiety, panic, acceptance, sadness, with Thom's haunting vocals sounding particularly brilliant on the last few tracks. Favourites: Paranoid Android Exit Music (For A Film) No Surprises Lucky The Tourist

When I was making my way thru the Beatles roundabout 30 years after the fact, I heard much about the greatness of Sgt Pepper, probably the single greatest album ever, period. To me, it didnt crack the Beatles’ own top 3. *This* record holds a similar position for me. At the time, mind was blown, face melted, ears in love. It was a pinnacle. A higher rating was inconceivable. And then they kept making music& this one suddenly seemed quaint by comparison. Living thru it in real time this was an all time great, hard to overstate its brilliance. Looking back now, nearly 30 years after the fact, I can’t guarantee it’s in my RH top 5. On the special S-tier scale it’s a 4 & change, here in this context that’s an emphatic 5er

Anthology.

WOW I knew I loved The Bends already and that OK Computer was considered by many to be Radiohead's best... but I just thought The Bends couldnt be topped!! Guess I was bloody wrong wasnt I! Another 5 star from me. Karma Police is one of my fave songs OF ALL TIME gahhhhh the whole album is the best vibe.

death...

Fantastic album, so many perfect songs, and it flows so well.

Kolmannella albumillaan Rdiohead liikkui pois The Bendsin säröisestä kitararockista kohti kylmempää ja abstraktimpaa äänimaailmaa.

this is a album of the future from the past.

Loved it

This is such a great album, even though it’s my second-favorite Radiohead record. I had honestly forgotten just how good it is. From the rockier songs like “Airbag” and “Electioneering” to more introspective, melancholic tracks like “No Surprises” and “Exit Music (For a Film),” it’s all winners. There’s a surprising blend of singles alongside very ambient tracks, yet neither feels out of place, they complement each other really well. Great riffs, great lyrics. If I had to nitpick, I’d say the two tracks after “No Surprises” are a bit forgettable. Other than that, no notes. 5 stars. Sidenote: I realized how much “Let Down” sounds like the Swedish band Kent (or vice versa).

intimacy. timeless.

Technology bad!

Second time listening this album. Great sound. Lots of radioheads biggest songs. 9/10

Favorite album so far

yea pretty cool. Some of the all time classics from the band. like an 8 or smth

So good. Let down is up there on my favorite songs of all time.

I only discovered this album a few years ago but it immediately because one of my favourites

First time listening and yeah to be fair that is well good

I dumb-rebel hated Radiohead and many other great bands when they were popular bc they were "trendy." I came to love them after maturing a bit. The melodies and layered instrumentation in this album always grab my attention. The guitar on some songs sound a bit dated now but their brilliance still shines brightly. This is one of the great albums of the 90's, characteristic of the brooding atmosphere, loneliness, and discontent that nurtured bands like Porcupine Tree, The Cure, and the grunge and goth scenes. Worth re-spinning and never shelving for long.

Mystical music with a tech side. An amazingly diverse band's masterpiece.

Perfect.

Game-changer for the band and for progressive rock ahead of the 21st century. Masterpiece. Luckily, Radiohead was able to keep the genius going with subsequent works.

Magnifique album. Un 5 assuré !

Well constructed album with strong hit and a good listen

Finally some good fuxking food. Just a stellar album in terms of overall cohesion, craft and production

My favorite

This hits that balance where experimentation actually serves the songs instead of distracting from them. There’s a sense of architecture to the whole thing - layers that reveal themselves slowly, subtle rhythmic shifts, and a cohesion that ties everything together without making it predictable. It’s not as outwardly complex as some prog records, but it achieves a similar depth through atmosphere and detail, which keeps it endlessly replayable.

Radiohead have eluded me for years. I’ve kind of liked them, but they’ve never really clicked for me. That is, until I was assigned this album and really sat down and listened to it with more intention. I was blown away. It finally clicked.

perfect

I can't believe I got this album the day after Abbey Road, two albums that I would say are perfect. There isn't really much I can say about this album that hasn't already been said. Radiohead are one of those rare bands (like Pink Floyd) where they created one of the greatest albums of all time and it isn't even thier best album. High 5!!!!!!!

Some of the greatest alt-rock you'll ever hear.

One of my favorite albums of all time. Absolute classic front to back. It’s held up with time, too. I’m thankful this album exists!

Great album that always takes me back to a pivotal point in my life. I didn’t appreciate how great the album was at the time. I just knew I liked it.

A masterpiece It makes me want to go back in time and slap teenage me for thinking that Radiohead were the wrong genre for me to listen to

anyrhing radiohead is peak

wat een album toen ik 14-16 was. nog steeds, natuurlijk, maar ik luister het minder dan toen. exit music for a film blijft zo zo mooi

When I was getting into alt rock and indie rock in my teenage years in the early-mid 2000s, I never really liked Radiohead when I came across them. When I gave them more of a shot in college, I don’t think it connected so never really explored their discography. So I think it’s fair to say I’ve never listened to this front to back. I’m excited now. I think one thing I never liked about them was Thom Yorke’s voice and vocal style. Don’t mind it now, but it’s still not my fave. Listening to Paranoid Android now and thinking this is nuts. What a track. How did I once so easily dismiss this. On all of this, there’s a creative full sound. Vast instrumentation, the guitars dominate but create something distinct. It feels like every song has layers. First half is a monster of great track after great track, and then the banger Karma Police comes on. There’s such an angst to a lot of this. In a good way. It’s atmospheric and filled with despair but the music is always so interesting. A lot of that 90s music veers into angry, and this isn’t that version of angst. It’s something deeper. No Surprises is a great song. It’s sad and depressing but the sound is unbelievable with that repeating guitar. Damn. I wish some of this wasn’t so sad as a whole, but what an album. I guess I get it now. Still overall don’t love Yorke’s vocals by themself, but once you take it all in as a whole, it all fits and works. Did an immediate relisten and yeah it’s a 5. As a whole, it just all works as a cohesive album. By the time you get to the closing song The Tourist, you want to hear it again. Only negative that really comes to mind is I can see this as being the type of music you’re just not in the mood for sometime.

Didn't expect to like this so much, want to deep dive the lyrics/lore

I mean cmon, an exceptional list of records and broight to life in an exceptional manner.

amazing album tho seems too personal

All time favourite.

All time great album. One of my all time faves too. Game changer. Mind blower. The haters are wrong. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Holy shit I can’t believe I wasn’t a sheep along w all the discord people back in the day cuz Radiohead is great

First time listeening to radiohead, put off by the npcs on discord listeening to it. turns out its very good and i liked over half of the songs in this album. very atmospheric and calming yet groovy at the same time on a lot of the songs

Lowkey immersive.

I find new details every time I hear it

Another one of those albums I claim to love but only ever play a few tracks. Interesting to listen all the way through again. Yes I do still love it do there!

I love Radiohead and this is hands down one of their best albums. Paranoid Android is one of their best songs, too. Overall I would choose In Rainbows over OK Computer, and then I might choose Kid A and/or Hail to the Thief also. I think this album sounds considerably less modern than those other 3, which is how it lags behind them. Still a 5 star album that I'm happy to listen to.

Obra maestra. Revolucionario, entretenido, emocional, conceptual. Tiene todo. Redefinió el rock. 10/10

This is one I gotta listen to from start to finish. Instrumentally, a very interesting album. It wasn't until I hear tributes/covers that I understood the lyrics. One of my favorite albums from their catalog.

Really good. Never sat through it front to back before.

This might be the best album of the 90s and I'm always glad to revisit it. As AI rapidly becomes more prevalent in society the album is more relevant than ever. I think this barely beats out Kid A in my mind as Radiohead's magnum opus and every track is a whole mini-opera unto itself. Standouts: Paranoid Android, Let Down, Electioneering, No Surprises, Lucky

herrlich melancholische begleitung!

Wistful, fantastical, but also quite raw at the same time. Lots of texture. Very soothing to a certain sense of dread. Very easy to get completely lost in while listening. It reminds me of being deep in a maladaptive daydream; there are moments where you're free-flying and feeling sparks of excitement, but they eventually spiral back down to this bleak feeling...reality hits again.

I’m traveling and it’s be hard to add anything of value to the discourse around OK Computer anyway. Everything positive you read about this record is true. An absolute landmark release from possibly the best bad of my lifetime.

(Nearly) 30 years on, and this still sounds like it's being beamed down from an alien planet.

An album that feels like a checkpoint. Makes you think of your past choices, but also gives you a sense of hope on what's to come. An absolute classic that feels like you're breaking the chains that are keeping you stuck to the same old melancholic life. Listen with headphones and just ascend

I already love this album so much

Back in the day I had a CD player in my office cubicle. I gave Charlie my supervisor Bright Eyes’ Digital Ash in a Digital Urn & I’m Wide Awake It’s Morning to have a listen. He came back the next day with OK Computer for me. That disc was stuck in the player for a long time! Still blows me away to this day, especially Paranoid Android. Charlie didn’t like Bright Eyes (too liberal for him, I’m sure), but he also loaned me Radiohead’s The Bends which is also quite good. Nate, another office music lover asked what I was listening to and responded “Figures!” when I said Radiohead. What a nice compliment

OK Computer is already in my top ten albums of all time, so no question how I'm going to score this one. I'll be succinct in my glazing here: this album marks a departure from Radiohead's 90s alternative rock sound and into something more digital, more abstract. Their sound as we know it now, really took form (to me) with Kid A/Amnesiac, so OK Computer is a sweet spot of merging the two worlds.

Obviously this is incredible. I've heard this album numerous times before and I've pretty much always considered it to be incredible. This time was no different. Granted, this isn't my favourite Radiohead album, I'm much more of a Kid A guy personally, but the amount of fantastic songs on here is just absolutely insane. Karma Police, Paranoid Android, Let Down, No Surprises, the list just goes on and even the lesser famous tracks like Lucky and Climbing Up The Walls are just as good too. I do have a few small issues with this, like how Thom's singing can be maybe a bit too melodramatic at points and how the overall message of the album is maybe not as impactful now given some of the statements made by some of the band members in years since, but musically this album is still phenomenal and deserves all of the praise that it gets. Fav Songs: Paranoid Android, Karma Police, Let Down, No Surprises, Subterranean Homesick Alien, Exit Music (For A Film) Least Fav: Electioneering (still a great song) 9.6/10

Look, this album is a 5. From thew first time I heard it back in early high school, it unlocked a new appreciation of what music could be and how it could make me feel. Radiohead created an entire world with this album, and it's one I've spent significant time exploring in the 25 years since I first entered. I could spend a lot of time writing about this album, but I don't have the time right now. Suffice to say that this album, with all its paranoia, bombast, lushness, and idiosyncrasies, is just a perfect expression of finding beauty in alienation. I truly don'y understand people whose main complaint about this album, and the band in general, is that it's "too much of a bummer." I've never seen it as a bummer, but as an artistic, beautiful, dare I say healthy expression of feelings that inhabit all of us. This album allowed me to be OK with being an outsider in 9th grade, it gave me solace knowing that other people felt some of the same things I was feeling. It was a cathartic, lush collection of songs that gave a voice to some of my teen angst and for that I will always hold it close to my heart. It's a once in a generation album that continues to be relevant and futuristic today, no small feat.

Underrated.

Que decir...

Que clasicasooo

Being a Radiohead fan from the beginning this album blew my fucking mind when it came out. It was way ahead of it's time. The music for this one was different from the first 2 albums but the lyrics is what really makes this one. Predicting the future and stating the obvious at the same time. A must!

Amazing

I mean, it's not among the best ratings for nothing.

The love of my life

One of my all time favourites

really enjoyed and not just because i LOVEEE let down

5 star album

Beautiful and gut wrenching.

Album 17 4/6/26 First Radiohead of the project, and it's their first master work of a few. However, I will say that having been in a depressive state lately, seeing this generated played a part in extending my break from the 1001 project. I meant to listen to this and the Cars on consecutive days, but the thought of listening to OK Computer just wasn't something I was ready for due to unfortunate personal news. I finally came around to it as I started a long drive and the album was exactly as good as I've known it to be since I was 16. My identification as a "Radiohead listener" has waxed and wanted since I was that age, but my appreciation for the band never has. Airbag and Subterranean Homesick Alien have been my favorite tracks on the album since first listen. Both riffs have such an intoxicating effect on me. Airbag ends with a cool dub like section that I always look forward to. Paranoid Android I have nothing to say about other than it being the elusive multi rock suite in which I would describe every part as perfect. The digital effects on Jonny's solo melt my face every time. The second half of the record, doesn't occupy as much real estate in my mind as the other first half tracks I haven't mentioned, Exit Music (For a Film) and Let Down, but the record still has no skips. Not even Fitter Happier! I could tell you that I've heard Karma Police and No Surprises enough times that they no longer have any effect on me, but that's not entirely true. The tracks I haven't named are all mostly 4s because of the rich sonic textures even if I don't remember the riffs as much. The album is apparently 53 minutes, it somehow feels standard length to me because every song has its place on the LP. Electioneering is probably the only 3 on the album, but I wouldn't cut it, even if it would have sounded more at home on The Bends. It's the Radiohead album I have the deepest history with and it's definitely qualified for the "best in genre" running when looking at alt rock circa 1997. Why would I not put this on my 5 star wall? We shall see what other Radiohead albums manage to join OKC as 5s. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

mmmmm peak male manipulator music!! 5 stars tho

i do not know the words but every sound of this album. the whole block shakes as i play this in my 2000 oldsmobile alero with no bass so i don’t blow the speakers. i wish thom yorke never feels joy and therefore must return with a sequel album of OK cellphone

Yup ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I didn’t even have to listen to it again to know it was a 5, but I did anyway. 10/10

Kid A is better Would I listen again: Yep Deserves to be on this list: definitely one of the few artists I'd permit 2 albums from 4.5

No surprises Paranoid android Exit music (for a film) Karma police Subterranean homesick alien Airbag The tourist Lucky

already listened

Ambition makes you look pretty ugly.

a year after this album released Radiohead dropped a documentary called "Meeting People is Easy." This was 1998, before radiohead was a household name, so if you wanted to watch you had to go to Blockbuster and explain: I'm looking for a documentary called "meeting people is easy." The 16 year old employee would visibly hold back laughter as they searched the system and ultimately told you "No. We don't carry." to this day I'm convinced getting an LOL was the band's intent.

My first 5 star album. One of my favorite album ever. Dont even need to rehear it. "No surprises" and "exit music" has been 2 of my favorites songs ever for years.

excelente, está no meu acervo pessoal

sí tengo depresión cómo supiste

This album came out when I was 11 and seeped into my awareness over the course of my teenage years. I had Hail to the Thief and Amnesiac on CD, and loved (and paid voluntarily for) In Rainbows but didn’t sit down to listen to OK Computer as a full album until I was in my early thirties. It is an astonishingly good album, and has (unfortunately for humanity in our current techsistential crisis) aged accurately in its doomy outlook on the impact of the technological revolution which was only just starting to kick off amid a fanfare of optimism in the mid 90’s “Thinking all the ways the system will provide Windows 95, Windows 95” - The Smile - Zero Sum | Cutouts 2024

A truly excellent album from start to finish. It gives an impression of a band at ease, each song sounds assured and natural. Some meandering epics, electronic interludes and constantly great interplay between guitar and vocals. An instant favourite.

Not sure if I am odd but I found this album easier to absorb than the others and "commercial" is the wrong word but its seemed a easier melody to get on board with across numerous "hits" they have on this album (though better than the bends). Its just the right mix of unusual sounds, vocals and effects. RH are always a hit as they just find a way to always keep you interested. They are just at the pinnacle of the craft, timing, depth, atmosphere, the list goes on. A true giant and I love discovering little details every time in the complex web of music they often deliver. Amazing. To top it off they still remain a rock band! 🤘

What can be said that hasn't already been said about Radiohead's first masterpiece? I'll just add my voice to the crowd and say that I think that this is one of the best rock albums ever made. I love it's complex rhythms and offbeat time signatures, juxtaposed with the swirling rock noise and the first hints of electronic experimentation. Thom Yorke's voice perfectly cuts through maelstrom and is used as an extra instrument in the band whilst simultaneously delivering meaningful lyrics. I haven't got a bad word to say about this album.

Um dos melhores álbuns de sempre

No words, incredible. I could go on and on about the meanings of this semi conceptual album and how it displays themes of isolation, alienation, paranoia but I really think the brilliance of this album speaks for itself.

Easiest 5 of all time, changed the game

Takes me right back to Year 12 😭 Absolutely still love this album. P: Don’t like it, boring, too slow 🤣

This album is a classic- I still love it! It was interesting to try to listen to it with fresh ears, the vocals, melodies and varied instrumentation are all so good! But I failed in my objective relisten because I fell deep in a nostalgia hole listening to Exit Music.

Easiest 5 stars ever. One of my all time favourites, so many great epic songs, so many shifts in feel and colour that builds and sequences perfectly throughout. Have listened to this album probabaly more than any other in my life.

One of my favourite albums - So many good songs on this one and a nice consistent theme that flows all the way through the album.

Briliant album, what more do i have to say. 9/10

239/1089 i was thinking “oh this is a bit of a different sound for them, a bit muse-y and a bit Jeff Buckley-ish” then i realised this is Radiohead and not Oasis which is who i was thinking of. quite enjoying this vibe though vocals on Climbing Up The Walls remind me of Icelandic band Hatari which i like quite a bit yeah this is a great album and one i’ll go back to for sure, def appeals to my taste faves: airbag, subterranean…, let down, climbing up the walls, lucky, the tourist 88/100

Ok computer, more like ok this is really good, got em! This album is just banger after banger. Glad 1001 albums finally forced me to listen.

top 1 OAT

Never actually listened to this one in full before, love it.

One of my all time favourite albums.
