Reviews (page 6 of 7)

Pas mon genre de metal.

Not great or interesting to me

I had a hard time finding an entry point into this one. Ministry definitely have the technical chops but they move at such a ferocious, breakneck pace for the first few songs that I felt like I was trying to catch up with their energy rather than be brought along for the ride. “Jesus Built My Hot Rod” shows me they have a sense of humor. And a few of these riffs feel like they’re just a few thrashy steps removed from hair metal. So I know these guys are here to jam and have fun. But then the vocals on “Scare Crow” remind me of Marilyn Manson which tips the music into darker, heavier territory. There’s also an effect in the background on that song that sounds a lot of The Smiths’ “How Soon Is Now?” which makes me think they draw on a wide array of influences. Last two tracks are heavy on the noise. I respect the anarchy of it but I’m not loving it.

Wow Ministry is a cool addition to this list and not one that I was suspecting. I always kind of thought of them as one of the forgotten industrial metal bands and even though they've been around forever, they always had a big fan base but never made the push into the stardom / spotlight that other industrial acts did, like Nine in Nails or Prodigy. There's also a reason why I think I never got too much into them. It doesn't push enough, it doesn't expand on the ideas enough. If you listen to this album and then go back and skip around the songs, like start track 1, listen for 5 seconds then skip a minute ahead, then do it again and again until the song is over, then do it for all the songs that you heard and thought were standout tracks, and you'll be let down. What I'm saying is the opposite of one of the more important deciding stylized facets of this genre though, and I totally understand that industrial metal typically is repetitive and grating. That's essentially the sound in and of itself. But do that same test on a Nine Inch Nails track and you'll see that it explores more, it goes more places. I think that's the reason why Ministry never really latched onto me. It's a 2/5 for me. It does it's thing pretty well, but it's afraid to do anything else, even 1% in either direction.

Beyond the pail for my liking. Crash Bang but little wallop.

Metal, hence the 2.

I don’t know if its because the metal was amping me up for an appellate brief I had to get research done for in an hour, but I didn’t hate it as much as I thought??

Not my jam but didnt hate it!

I've never heard an album before that was just one long 45 minute track .... wait, what's that, there were 9 distinct tracks? As you can tell I found it very difficult to distinguish the different tracks, there was a high degree of monotony for me. I did manage to listen to the whole album though, so it gets 2 stars!

2/5 Weird album. Like 1/3 of the songs were actually pretty good, 1/3 were whatever, and 1/3 were unlistenable and I skipped them. Best Track: Scare Crow

No way on Earth could I listen to this singer for a full album, but the music is great.

There were moments when this album looked like it might turn into something better, but it was largely just and angry throbbing mess

I seriously considered skipping this album after the first 2 minutes and I probably wouldn’t have been kicking myself if I had, but I also am marginally glad I didn’t. There were some cool instrumentals sprinkled here and there and I never got the anger halfway through that I usually get with albums that I hate. I think the main problem was that I started it shortly after seeing dune 2 in imax, which made for a night of a lot of loud and grating noises.

It was good to have something heavy in the rotation, but this particular album didn't excite me too much.

# 172 : Not for me, too heavy for my tastes. The music and vocals become monotonous, while the spoken word samples are annoying. there were a couple of tracks I liked in the middle, but then it went back to being a racket

meh. not my cup of tea

death metal is not my jam

Nå bullshit

Gave it a single lesson, wasn’t my thing. Straight technical metal with no focus on melody is just not for me. 2/5

I found this to be an ok-at-best industrial metal album. Bold choices, some panning out, some falling flat. 2/5

Basically, this is nine times the same song. And that song isn't good. 1.5/5

I really have to be in the mood for industrial metal. Even on a good day Rammstein gets me bored pretty quickly. And this is basically just Rammstein but rough around the edges and less catchy.

Apparently, I no longer enjoy industrial. Just couldn't get into it. I get the same feeling listening to a jam band; just wanting the song to move on, but it seems to linger too long. Or maybe I'm just getting old...

Definitely not the worst metal album on this list. Some of the guitar parts were even enjoyable. Not enjoyable enough to make me ever choose to listen to this again.

I understand the appeal, but it's not for me.

Some of this is really decent metal music but then other parts of it really is tough to get through. It has like a punk edginess to it but without the flare of punk. Then the metal songs thrash hard but the singing just doesn’t mesh well. Feel like there are a few better metal albums than this one, especially ones I’d rather revisit. 4.7/10

Ansi hressilegt fyrir mánudagsmorgunn. Vakti mig allavega almennilega.

really repetitive, but there are some mildly interesting songs on here Significant 35/107 Liked 16/107 Added 4/107 NNN

Not for me.

Da har vel ein viss sjarm

Very negative received, and for a reason. The songs here are all basic and nearly the same thing, I couldn't tell when a new one came on from the complete void of creativity!

What a racket

Thoughts before listening: I used to own this album when I briefly flirted with an interest in industrial music before giving into pop punk. I remember enjoying Ministry although I typically dislike most of their lyrical themes. If this has Jesus Built My Hotrod on it then that's an all time great 90s song. Review: Yep...Jesus Built My Hotrod is on this album and its as good as I remember. NWO and Just One Fix are also really good songs. The rest of the album is just okay. Much too dense in most of these songs with buried vocals singing some really dumb lyrics. The "hits" have dumb lyrics too but at least they're fun. This is a 2-star album to me despite the 3 songs I am happy to add to the playlist.

Didn’t do much for me to be honest

Not for me today.

Jesus Built My Hotrod is great and has a really funny music video. Made me wish the rest of the album had that much fun and self-awareness. By album's end I felt like I was missing something, more variations in feeling. I don't usually listen to metal. It's a lot of fun, but at album length I become hyperaware of a kind of one-note feeling which flattens the whole experience.

As someone who doesn't typically listen to industrial music, I found this album to be quite challenging. The music is loud, abrasive, and chaotic, and the lyrics are often dark and disturbing. However, I also found the album to be strangely compelling. There is a rawness and honesty to the music that is undeniable, and it's clear that the band is putting their heart and soul into their performance. I think this album would be best appreciated by fans of industrial music who are looking for something that is both extreme and thought-provoking. It's not for everyone, but those who are open to its intensity will find a lot to appreciate. Here are some specific things I liked about the album: * The band's musicianship is top-notch. They're able to create a wall of sound that is both crushing and hypnotic. * The lyrics are powerful and evocative. They explore themes of alienation, despair, and violence. * The album has a strong sense of atmosphere. It's like being trapped in a dark, industrial wasteland. Overall, I think \"KE*A*H** (Psalm 69)\" is a challenging but rewarding listen. It's not for everyone, but those who are willing to give it a chance will find a lot to appreciate.

I can understand how some people might like this type of music. It's heavy and aggressive, and perhaps listening to Ministry has resulted in at least one person not killing their whole family or going on a mass shooting spree. Maybe this was a good outlet for those pent up aggressions, and for that I'm awarding this album 2 stars instead of the 1 star I was originally inclined to give it. Just doesn't do it for me.

If I wanted an old man to scream at me for an hour I would have lunch with my dad

Kinda like Rob Zombie, minus the good parts. I enjoyed some of the guitar work, but failed to understand where others see the magic. Industrial metal is absolutely an acquired taste, and one the comes with panted black nails and those pants that open towards the bottom, have too many zippers, and are black. Oh yeah, chain wallets.

Cool but not my thing

The speed and rythym are fantastic creating an excellent beat but I just can't deal with the screaming in front of it

This isn’t for me. It’s boring as far as industrial goes. It’s tame for metal. Feels like an experimental art installation you see in a modern art museum and go, “Hm. Interesting, but not worth pondering for long” and then think about where you’re going to get lunch.

I didn't hate this as much as I thought I would, but I certainly didn't enjoy it. I had some friends that were more into this type of dark industrial stuff back in high school, so it made me ever so slightly nostalgic for that type of sound. The lyrical content though, especially the spoken word stuff, was absolute cringe.

Like a lot of industrial music, I find this kind of try-hard to be so dark broooo. Don't hate, don't like.

Not really my thing

Another case where the instrumentation itself isn't bad (quite alright actually) but I'm not crazy about the vocals. This is otherwise okay.

Metal, did not complete

Yeah the metal I dont like

There's parts of this album that I really enjoyed, then parts which were really not up to much. "Just One Fix" has an awesome industrial guitar riff that really grabbed me, but much of the rest of the album fell a little flat for me.

yeha! ok! im not 13 anymore so this doesnt hit the same

Mushpit in the house. Me donne des vibes de slayer.

Seemed quite generic. Not sure there was much to get enthused by. The odd good riff here and there.

Not much of metal fan and this album comforted me in this opinion to be honest. I found it much repetitive and sometimes very boring to listen to, although the musicians for sure are very talented. 1. "N.W.O" has a really catchy opening. It quickly becomes repetitive though. 2. "Just one fix" has the same problem: too repetitive in my opinion. 3. "TV II" is better balanced in my opinion (maybe because it was shorter ?). The interruptions in the mmusic with the singer were really well chosen. 4. "Hero" is funny, catchy, pleasing to hear. 5. "Jesus Built my Hotrod" made me afraid because of its soft opening suddenly becoming really harsh. Became quite repetitive after some time. 6. "Scare crow" is not as repetitive but feels really "OK" souding. It isn't peculiarly resouding in me. 7. "Psalm 69" is really epic souding. Reincorporating the opening in the middle of the song was a good idea to me. 8. "Corrosion" is repetitive AND unpleasant to listen to. 9. "Grace" is a bunch of noise, a constant cacophony, so hard to listen until the end.

Trash. Industrial. Mucho ruido.

Never heard of this band. Quite hypnotic, repetitive metal. Vocals I find quite grating. The good tracks would be a good way to get rid of some anger but it's otherwise a bit repetitive and samey

Liked some songs and not others.

Not a fan of metal. Certainly not a fan of metal from a band I’ve never heard of.

Not horrible, generally mediocre, and ultimately forgettable thrash metal.

It's just kind of screamy for the sake of being screamy or otherwise annoying music choices. Not something I would seek out. The guitar and drum work is cool, but whatever it is that they decided to do for vocals makes this a pass.

i like metal but this is a little bit strong and I don't like the religious themes.

Progenitor, but not quite there yet.

Enjoyed the speed metal and thrash bits, didn't enjoy the repetitious vocal samples. All the one-chord jam songs with fade outs made this album seem unfinished. Also, next to NIN's Wish from the same year Psalm 69 is fairly primitive.

Weird: I wanted to kms and love it all at the same time. Just a plain odd album which I didn't really need to listen to but definitely and experience. I wanted to love it but couldn't bring myself to do so. Was way to heavy for my usual listening but I will try to give the stand out track 'Jesus Built My Hotrod' some more time.

I like plenty of heavy and abrasive music, but I prefer more melodic dynamic sounds. It’s like this combines what I consider the worst parts of electronic and metal - repetitiveness and a near constant wall of noise.

Only okay, heavy but lacks nuance, subtletly and melody. Only mildly interesting.

I liked this more than I thought I would after the first track. Still not that much though! It's a bit heavy for me, though the screaming gets closer to singing the further you get through the album. Jesus Built My Hotrod is worth a listen for its sheer silliness, rest is tolerable but not great. 2/5.

Absolutely not my genre, but there was enough in here that I didn't absolutely hate it. Although 69 stuff is so lame. That made me hate it a bit more.

Poo metal

Not for me

My ears hurt

Not my thing,

Not my thing but ok

Nope, not a fan of it.

Grotesque album, maar "Jesus Built My Hotrod" en "Scare Crow" zijn wel grappig. leukste nummer: Jesus Built My Hotrod De titel "ΚΕΦΑΛΗΞΘ" is een verwijzing naar The Book of Lies van occultist Aleister Crowley. De alternatieve titel "Psalm 69: They Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck eggs" ook, maar ook over 69.

Post-apocalyptische van dik hout zaagt men planken muziek.

a few good tracks but overall a very weak effort

Interesting album Industrial rock/metal not my cup of tea found it hard to enjoy this album

Well this band has evolved quite a bit over the years. In the early 80's their debut album With Sympathy was basically a Brit synth pop clone with the dance hit Work for love. Wiki informs that they record company wanted them to sound like Wham! and Jourgenson even adopted a fake British accent. Their sound started to harden over time and in 87 they released the bangers like Everyday is like halloween and All day. On their next album - Land of rape and honey they really got aggressive with Stigmata which IMO is probably the most listenable industrial single ever. On their next album, the Mind is a terrible thing to waste I think they really went whole hog into speed industrial death metal sound with jackhammering guitars/drums and hyper aggressive vocals. Which brings us to this album. I can't say it was a fun listen and I know I'll sound like an old fart when I say that I liked them better back in the day.

Not to judge a book by its cover but just reading the Wikipedia extract I feel like I'm going to really not like this.... Yeah not keen this morning.

A bit too industrial and angry for me.

I just don't respond to this aggro industrial stuff. It doesn't speak to me in any way, shape or form. Repetitive noise that's more likely to give me a pounding headache than anything. A few thrashy grooves here and there that I can get behind, but the screaming and the distortion is just so unpleasant to me that I have a hard time looking past it and focusing on the more technically impressive aspects.

First 2 songs kick. It falls off from there.

Maybe it's just not my thing, but nothing stood out about this album. Seemed a bit childish at points as well.

Jesus Built My Hotrod was very enjoyable when I first heard it 30 years ago, but I didn't like this album a lot when I bought it new in 1992. Thirty years on, it's just a heavy drone with an industrial drum beat. It's just not my thing.

No time for a fuller review, but in short: 1. I can see how this band was an influence on Kinderschmerzen! 2. Not really my thing - all those one chord songs (without the compensation of a funky groove) just bore me.

Very much not my type of music. I did not enjoy it, but it's not fair to give it a 1-star since I think it does have some quality, just not really any that I can appreciate. 3/10

Sounds like how someone who never listens to any metal would describe it the genre. Fast, gruff, weird. Leans heavily into religious aspects complete with recordings and choirs. Very intentional drama I'd give 1.5 if I could, but I'll round up for significance

JUST MORE NOISE ROCK.I kinda liked it .Not amazing..Just never came together for me.Wish I could rate it like 2.5 stars.

Niet onaardig. Doorwerkmuziek. Bagger einde. 2 sterren.

I mean, it was fairly decent heavy metal. Overall pretty average

Not for me

Meh-tal -- you like that one Nolan? Nolan: Yuh

industrial

I know two tracks from Ministry. One is "(Every Day Is) Halloween" from an earlier era in the band's development. The other track I am familiar with is "Jesus Built My Hotrod" from this album: KE*A*H** (Psalm 69), which is well into the thrash metal version of the band. This album feels like an influence on Rob Zombie, with a bit of Metalica thrown in here and there. These bands, metal and psychobilly are not what I would choose to listen to. A solid 2, but probably a 1 if I had to listen to the whole album again.

Loud and hard. 2.5

iz okay

Eh. Interesting enough at first, but quickly became repetitive.

Didn't care much for the thrash riffs in many of the songs.

Not a fan of this. The only decent thing about it was the guitars/drums.

Glad I know it exists.

Did you wake up and choose anger? Want to listen to a rejected Doom soundtrack? Do you enjoy thrash metal skate shred punk house? This is for you

Classic 90s hard rock… not for me.

Not great

3/10. Didn't really enjoy it much

A little aggressive for my taste. I can see the appeal though.

Hard core. Interesting. I like it in general, but not really something I'd listen to often. 2.5

I don't know I guess this album was something different that shocked a lot of people back in 1992. They had some cool-sounding riffs, but they just kept playing them over and over and over and over and over. Eventually it started to bore me and I was hoping for something new with each song but it never really happened.

Enjoyed the instrumentals for the most part but really disliked the vocals to a point where it puts me off wanting to re listen to any songs

metal muito distorcido

Monotonous, repetitive, dreary. Used to like old school heavy metal but this stuff leaves me cold. Scare Crow the only redeeming song, possibly because it has a slower tempo and is reminiscent of Black Sabbath

some very fast drums and excellent guitar playing at times but overall I hated it

bullshits

Quite noisy. Early industrial.. my ears are bleeding after a while

Didnt dislike but not something i would probably put on to listen to

Industrial early 90s rock. There's artists in this category I love. I doubt this group will ever be one of them. They commit the worst offense possible for the genre - it's just boring.

Loud, messy, bad recording quality, hardly a song structure, an album to forget

nennis 😊

Bit much for me overall but liked most of the guitar riffs

A bit all over the shop, that type of metal/industrial that really does very little for me.

NWO kicked absolute ass as an opening song but I found d myself skipping the entire rest of the album. I've never heard of this band and I know quite a few metal groups so I wonder if NWO was a one hit wonder or something. Much more mainstream than the rest of the album which felt more like something of a mishmash between Metallica, Slipknot, and Rob Zombie.

Definite change of pace! We don't get a lot of metal albums, and I'm not complaining since I generally don't love the genre, but it's a nice break. This one's got a vulgar energy to it, not necessary vulgar lyrics, but just feels nasty. Overall it fits outside of the kinds of metal I do like, maybe a little too heavy for me. But I liked a couple tracks, and I appreciate that this band has a sense of humor. "Jesus Built My Hotrod" is funny to read, and I love the pun in the subtitle of the album: the way to succeed and the way to suck eggs. But ultimately not one for me. Favorite tracks: Corrosion, NWO. Album art: Appropriately grimy and incomprehensible. A nude angel in the middle? Hard to see. I kind of like it though. 2/5

Some okay parts but most of the album was loud messy music that I didn’t get or like

There are some genuinely interesting ideas and musical moments on here, they're just a bit washed out due to overlong arrangements. A bit of editing to cut the fat would've made this a 3-4 star album; as is, it's a bit of a slog to take in all at once.

A little loud and extreme for me.

Instrumentals were pretty banging for the most part, like the ambience and samples but the vocals did not do it for me

They were better as a synth pop band

Kinda fucking weird, but I finished it. 2.5 cuz it had moments

Metal is my second most hated genre after country, so went in with trepidation but determined to give it a try. First song hated and almost turned it off, but next few started to get into it a bit. Still got bored with samey tunes by the end. 2.4

I do like a bit of industrial thrashy nonsense every now and then but this was just shouty shite

Setting has a lot to do with the listening experience. 20-something me would have loved this at a thrash metal night club, but 40-something me, listening whilst doing the dishes, it's a bit much. Though I did give those dirty saucepans a bloody hard scrub! 🤘

It's bad! Or at least, I didn't really like it. I'm not a fan of metal by any stretch, so I'm probably not a good person to ask about this. There were a couple of spots where I could see the appeal, but there other times where I thought "Wow, this is garbage".

typical trebly industrial of the 90s. just like KMFDM, except I can understand these lyrics a little better.

Industrial metal that's not quite my cup of tea. Just One Fix was good and the rest are meh. 5/10.

liked it more than I wanted too. pretty hard to listen too. words are prolly dumb but idk

Tolerable? I liked the music on a couple of songs but a lot of times it was just too much - grating, distorted, screaming... I know that's what it is. Just not for me I guess. Certainly not "Scum" bad though. Hero was a pretty decent track.

idk if i like this guess it helps with anger. 2 or 3?

Just couldn't... JBMH is a good song though

What to say? It's metal. Although I recognise the skill in it, I don't personally find it enjoyable to listen to.

Some alright stuff but the rockabilly is insufferable

Started well, but crap at the end.

Wow. Full on industrial metal stuff - didn't listen to much.

Been getting into heavier stuff recently, but this might be a little bit too metal for me.

I put this on while studying, so I wasn't paying full attention. It sounded chaotic AF.

This album is a 2/5 for me, but probably 5/5 for fans of industrial metal. It reminds of me of Beck's Mellow Gold, if Mellow Gold had a much denser arrangement and had more repetitive riffs. What does exist lyrically is thematically very consistent throughout the album and fits well with the musical themes/motifs, but I personally also found the lyrics slightly cringeworthy. I have similar feelings to Mellow Gold in that if I had grown up with this album, I might have more nostalgic feeling that would lead to a different rating. However, since I did not, I feel its only fair to grade this in line with my general tastes.

Yeah not for me.

Not a big fan of 6 inch nails 1.3/5 "thank God that's over"

Again...

I assume if you like industrial metal music then this album is good? I'm not really sure, I can't tell. To me, it's screechy nonsense with little to grab onto or like at all.

This is the exact kind of metal that I hate. Everytime they might have a good riff going, they ruin it by adding noise and the terrible vocals of the singer. I cannot stand scream singing and will never understand how people like it. Well now I know to stay clear of industrial metal. I finished it, but it was painful and left me with a headache. Favorite Track - Jesus Built My Hot Rod Least Favorite Track - Corrosion ⭐️

This could be a 5 if you love screaming and growling over heavy guitar distortion and incessant angry drumming.

This one was a little too metal for me, didn’t like it much

Pretty awful.

Fuck no.

To my ears, this is just juvenile trash, horribly dated juvenile trash at that.

This review is a quick one, because I’m too old for this sort of rubbish. Squealing guitars, indistinct noise, tinny drums, vocals straight out of The Muppet Show. I suppose it’s meant to be very avant-garde, but others have produced radical noise much earlier and much more consistently. Boring, annoying and pointless.

This just comes off as... cringe? The whole "rock and roll is my religion" the 69 joke. You can tell this was the 90's. I need the right band and the right mood to get into most Metal and this was neither of those things. 2/10

Noise.

Boooooo

There are worse industrial metal albums out there. This one didn't pass the headache test, though.

Dnf Hated it. Dated and boring.

This shit is hilarious and ridiculous. Trashy lyrics, overly repetitive riffs and no attempt at originality.

First track set off in the wrong direction for me, then I got some Rammstein vibes from 'Just One Fix' which got my hopes up. Just to be completely crushed by the "TV II" garbage. And unfortunately it never really got on the right track from there. Had some hopes with 'Jesus Built My Hotrod', since it had quite a lot of plays. But that turned out to be bad as well. And then it cemented it's 1 star rating by finishing with 'Grace'. While I don't enjoy them, I can at least understand that there is an appeal and audience for death metal music. But this album just felt incoherent and juvenile. It didn't do industrial metal well, and neither death metal. Just bad on both ends. Felt quite poser:y, a bit like Kid Rock but for death metal.

Wie befürchtet: Reinhören, Lärm hören, … .

I hate metal so much. When everything is loud the music has no impact, and it just sounds generic.

This is not for me

Oh no more nu metal

I have never heard of this band and so therefore have probably never heard any songs by them. I'll admit my first reaction upon reading the Wikipedia page was "ruh roh - another heavy metal album" as I have not liked any of the heavy metal (and in particular thrash metal) albums this website has given me. But hey, I'm willing to be surprised. Thoughts after listening ... Vocally the growling/shouting is about as annoying as something can be. It seems like that's what he is going for. Lyrically there is nothing interesting going on here. It has to be intentional to create lyrics as dumb as this. Musically some small parts of it are interesting - but I can only take it in small doses. Most of it is just really repetitive and not worth your time. I was hoping maybe the 2 instrumentals at the end would grab me but ... nope. I feel like this is the product of a person who thinks he is a rebel and is just trying to punish his mother by creating the most obnoxiously annoying stuff ever. But I imagine his mom probably just puts in ear plugs and says "as long as you're enjoying yourself dear". This is not good. Liked songs on Spotify: 0/9 Rating: 1/5 (should be zero)

"....and the way to suck eggs". That sums it up pretty well. Choose any three chords, wash, rinse, repeat.

A really tough listen not for me

Screaming yelling metal. Hard pass. Jesus Built My Hotrod was kinda funny though. Best song: Jesus Built My Hotrod

Once again adding the disclaimer that I am not a metalhead but this album lacks a lot of imagination. The lyrics feel like they were written by the problem student in your 7th grade class who you try to make friends with just on the off chance that he snaps. Band behind the lead singer is just so repetitive it's hard to get into. There is better metal than this.

I'm not even gonna try

yeah this was bad. I'll just give it a 1

*No music. Banging instruments, screaming vocals. Most tracks sound alike

No. Just not my thing. Too goth.

Unpleasant

My ears still hurt.

1.5 stars I understand that these songs aren’t all the same but you can’t convince my ears.

Not my vibe. Sounds like the devil

I been recommended metal all week and this is just not for me either - it’s ok for metal likec

Oooh, edgy.

I already knew going into this that metal isn’t my thing, and this album didn’t change my mind. i hated this, i couldnt finish it.

I hate this with a passion!

Terrible!! I hated this. I knew I would get a bad one because I’ve had so many good ones in a row. I knew Jesus Built My Hotrod.

Edgey trash

I hate this so much. Screaming and yelling > actual singing, which takes talent. This is "music" for thrill-seeking young people to blast on their car stereos as they speed in an attempt to sound cool and badass.

Not a fan of metal

Lots of useless noise and unnecessary chaos. No thanks.

There’s two, maybe three tracks on the whole album that is tolerable. The rest, would be acceptable as background noise at a dive bar in East Atlanta Village, but for listening with headphones, it’s just a monotonous assault on the ears and frontal lobe.

not my music type

These metal albums are disappointing. Didnt like any of these songs. Stylistically, I could appreciate how early this came out and thats about it

Heavy and Metal is not something I remotely enjoy. The first song was not too bad. The second was awful. Lets just bang the drums and thrash the guitar and speak. same goes for song 3 and 4 except its shouting instead of speaking. At least the hotrod one wasn't shouty and was kind of listenable but very repetitive. scare crow was okish..a bit repetitive. Psalm 69 is sooo00o hard (faceplam). It is cringe. Corrosion and grace were awful. 1 star

I truly do not mind the music…..but the vocals totally turn me off.

There’s drumming, there is insert sabbath, maiden etc etc riff. There's industrial production. there’s a seeming level of anger at something. It appears to have Christian tones from the odd word you can hear, but it's the wrath of god, armageddon neo right wing, old testament style it appears, i can't hear what he growls. Whatever, don't like the noise and don't need the anger. Listened to it because listened to everything so far. Won’t again. 1 Star

Radio noise mixed with televangelist radio noise. 2/10

It’s 2026 and I still hate metal.

Loud, heavy metal noise

I was confused that this album was already in my library, I had no recollection of listening to this album. After the first minute my brain jolted into gear and I recalled how shit this album was

Absolutely not

Intense death metal. Won’t be listening again

No thank you

Human vermin

LOUD NOISES

The riffs were good. The Lyrics were a lot and not in a good way. I just didn't feel like this was that special. I hate these lyrics. Actual rating...1.5 Liked Songs: "Just One Fix" , "Hero" , "Jesus Built My Hotrod" , "Corrosion"

Not a metal fan.

Not my jam

I don't really know what to expect from the "profane" album title, or the intriguing cover art, or the clearly religion-themed song titles. I guess, scream/death/industrial metal. Let's hope it's not that, because that genre has a horrifically low success rate in my books. Well, heck. The opening track, N.W.O., is repetitive, only breaking the monotony with vocals that make you want to tear your ears off. They just... sound bad. Whoever funds these kinds of projects has definitely gone off their rocker, and they probably had a hearty chuckle when the album got as high as #27 on the Billboard charts. The following track is much more promising. Just One Fix has a nice guitar theme that rocks out with the bass behind a sort of fast-doom drum beat. The vocals are bad, though an improvement over N.W.O. The rage in this piece is more palpable – and (importantly) more tastefully expressed – than its predecessor. The next couple of tracks are somewhere between: not good enough for me to particularly enjoy them, but also not nearly as horrifyingly bad as that first song. TV II commits to the unfortunate theme of switching between spaces of dead silence and brutally loud instrumental cut-ins. Not good. Hero sounds like an attempt at a crowd singalong, but it just isn't that good. And the singing is at its very worst in the verses. (The guitar abruptness at the end is pretty nifty, though.) Jesus Built My Hotrod is a return to form – if you could call it that. The guitar playing is blurry and overblown but it's pretty fun, particularly in the verses. Also, far and away the most pleasant vocals to listen to. Ding ding dang-a-dang. Or something. Great guitar solo at the 3-minute mark, too. This is definitely the album's strongest track. Scare Crow isn't bad, but at 8 minutes with no progression between the beginning and the end, it gets a little tiresome. Compare that to something like the Beatles' I Want You (She's So Heavy) for a crash course in how to pull off a 7-8 minute doom track. Psalm 69 gives Jesus a run for his money with the medieval-fantasy-bossfight atmosphere in the first 90 seconds. After that it delivers a fun standard guitar riff that repeats for a while. The last two tracks are uneventful. All in all, definitely not an essential listen. 1/5 Key tracks: Just One Fix, Jesus Built My Hotrod, Psalm 69

Holy fuck this was pretty annoying. Not really for me. Some real "I'm 12 and hate my parents" music

Not my bag. Although not as bad as some of the other metal on this list. Jesus Built My Hotrod has a a fun rockabilly vibe to it - cannot say much positive about the rest.

This is the album satan puts on to get his army of demons hyped up for an attack on heaven. Sounds pretty cool but makes for an awful listen.

God (or maybe Satan) bless you if this is your kind of music, I hope you had a really nice time with this one, but this was painful to listen to from the first note to the last note.

1 - Espantoso!

Horrible.

Yeah, no, this is not happening to my ears and soul. I’m good on industrial and thrash metal.

How is this here?

It’s not for me and that’s ok Also these are the worst mixed drums I’ve ever heard

It's thrash plus industrial. Surprisingly, better than that sounds.

Wow. No.

Some good guitarwork here and there, but not enough to save this album for me. Not melodic enough for me and just rather annoying.

It's difficult to listen to.

Not my style

480 albums in, I've made a real effort to listen all the way through albums I didn't like; and for the most part I've been successful. I had to tap out of this in track 3.

Wow I hated that

It’s not for me. I need something catchy within this type of music - or some songs that are more leaned back - it’s Way too stressful. NIN and early Marilyn Manson fits my taste much more

Sounds like being inside a factory which maybe is the point of industrial metal but wasnt for my tastes

Horrible.

For me it was pretty horrible but if you like loud and noisy you might like this.

Truly terrible

Sex jokes. Did you know 69 is a funny ah ah number?

I did not like this at all.

I'm impressed with this album's commitment to awful.

Sorry, I’m going to ‘get off my lawn kid’ this one. Not my taste, although I did try it

Did not like. It stressed me out.

Simplemente no.

It’s all pounding sameness, with none of the layers or atmosphere that make real industrial music interesting. It's metal, really. Spins: 1 Playlist Additions: - Jesus Built My Hotrod

Blasphemy

Pretty dreadful

Hated this

No, just no.

Wow that was rough. Gave me minor flashbacks to Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten, which no album should try to compare itself to.

This isn't gonna work out. I'm sorry, it's not you, it's me.

Noooo. Yes, the drummer is amazing, and track 1 was pretty interesting. But mainly, I found it unlistenable, not least because of the vocals. Too full-on for me.

The star is for Jesus Built My Hotrod. The rest was not for me.

Cookie Monster does thrash metal.

I listen to at least the first minute of every song before I will skip it if I don't like it. This was the longest fucking nine minutes of my life. I hated every second of this.

Death metal is something that eludes me.

Rubbish!!!

Not a genre I enjoy.

Not for me

Once upon a time I’d like to listen to this stuff whilst getting ready for a night on the beer. I’m 72 now and don’t do beer so no use whatsoever of industrial racket. My favourite industry nowadays involves arts and crafts. Not much steel industry in UK thanks to the Chinese and Trump’s tariffs. 1/5 21/6/25

No thanks

Holy Mother of God!

How much drugs do you need to take to genuinely enjoy this record? I dont want to find out.

Rossz hörgős metál

122/1089 - Production is good but that's about it. The problem with strophic form songs is you need to offset the lack of different sections with strong melodies. This is why folk songs work well and screaming doesn't. At least a minute could be cut off of each song and it gets the point across the same. And now for a different album to neutralize my negativity: Brecker Brothers - Out of the Loop (1994): One of the greatest saxophonist players and his cool trumpet brother mess around with tape loops and world music to make some awesome sounds. My favorite on it is "African Skies." Has some nice surreal album art too if you're into that sorta thing.

I tried my best to like metal, I was hoping this would be the one that’d catch my ears. But unfortunately, I just don’t get it. Maybe the next one.

after years of wanting to like it i'm no longer afraid to say ministry is in the lowest tier of industrial music. boring, annoying and headache inducing

WTF is this.

Didn’t like

I can’t think of a less appealing album description than “religious industrial music”. After listening to it - yup, hunch was right. This one sucked.

1. nuuo - 0 2. fiz - 1 3. tv - 1 4. hero - 1 5. jezuz - 0 6. zcare - 1.5 7. pzalm - 1.5 8. corrozion - 0 9. grace - 1.5

Absolutely not for me 1 star is too high

Metal isn’t really my thing, with a few exceptions. This wasn’t one of them.

This is the kind of metal that people who hate metal think all metal sounds like. Just incoherent noise. The only way this album works is if it is meant to be satire of this era of terrible metal.
