Probably the #1 most anticipated album of my life. I could easily write 9+ paragraphs about the day I first heard this. I was a huge Minor Threat fan, owned both Fugazi ep’s, and could not WAIT for their first album to be released. Admittedly it’s not my favorite album of theirs (that’s In On the Killtaker) but inarguably it’s the most important to me. It went beyond hardcore. It transcended punk. It felt vital in a way nothing else at that time did. Inspirational, in a way that few other current bands at the time could portray. This is a true milestone in music that I don’t think enough people understand.

I like MacKaye's vocals more than Picciotto's. This is fun stuff, though I think I enjoy Minor Threat a smidge more.

Words never used to describe Fugazi: Sellouts, Pandering, Commercial, Lazy, Corporate, Mainstream. This one is about as accessible as they get. A fantastic gateway to the wonderful world of Indie Punk.
As someone who gravitates towards vocal melody, this isn't really my bag. But the music is good and I like the attitude.

cool stuff. I admire Ian MacKaye for a lot of things – being vegan, Minor Threat, the straight edge philosophy and mostly just unapologetically doing whatever the fuck he wants to do. this album is a bit repetitive (it definitely lives up to its name), and though I imagine it all would fall into place in the right context, it doesn't always translate when listening to the record. I listened to it 2.5 times to try and do it justice and I'd rate it 3.5 – but for some really cool songs like Merchandise and for the legend that Ian is, I may just round it up.

How do I review one of my favorite albums of all time without, one, gushing endlessly or, two, listing all the minute details in these songs that stack up to form this galvanizing post-hardcore record? I could talk about the space-filling ways in which Guy Picciotto and Ian Mackaye's contrasting guitar playing blend or the way Joe Lally's crunchy, dub-influenced bass playing complements Brendan Canty's unpredictable percussive patterns to form one of the greatest rhythm sections in all of punk. This album is best described as troubled, and pessimistic but conscious, all while encouraging the listener to understand the world around them. Punk is a genre that promotes cynicism that's often targeted at the artists who risk coming off as disingenuous; be that through their actions outside of their music or lack thereof. Fugazi was a band that stood by the ideas they presented in their music, having never sold out to a major label, or given in to the consumerist shift plaguing the music industry they criticized on the song 'Merchandise'. Alongside capitalist consumerism, themes of violence, division, and even drug abuse are tackled in this album. Picciotto typically approaches these topics in a more enigmatic sense, like in the song 'Blueprint' or 'Sieve-Fisted Find', the former of which pokes at a similar topic as the opener 'Turnover' where Piciotto shows some frustration as he tries to facilitate growth, planning, and change in the face of apathy. Mackaye on the other hand, while generally catchier and more anthemic in his deliveries, is more blunt with his messaging. It's as if he's trying to get the message through to the listener as clearly as possible, as seen on 'Merchandise' and the title track which has one of my favorite choruses here tackling the idea of unprovoked violence. He also does the lead vocals on the closer 'Shut the Door', detailing a heroin overdose. I see this song as Mackaye potentially reflecting on his treatment of drug users in the past given his straight-edge identity. Musically speaking, everything just sounds so damn good. The way the bass pummels you at the beginning of 'Sieve Fisted Find' and 'Repeater' is so electrifying. The title track is probably my favorite song here; I love the sporadic and almost tribal drum beat and the stark contrast between the ear-gratingly noisy tone driving the song and the melodic little riff in its chorus. I love the sudden pauses throughout the introduction of the song 'Greed' and the guitar riff closing out 'Styrofoam' is so unbelievably visceral. 'Turnover' and 'Blueprint' have these sharp and distorted guitar tones that tear through the mix. Fugazi's 'Repeater', to me, is punk in one of its most perfect forms, both in its ethos and in its sound. It sounds very compressed like you're being fed this urgent message through a walky-talky as you stand staring at some oncoming catastrophe not knowing what to do. There is a sense of urgency put on full display here, an effect only amplified by this album's fiery performances.

These passed me by at the time. I remember some cool kids at college had Fugazi t-shirts, I think, but how did I not know this album? It's great! Maybe I didn't/wouldn't have dug the punkness back then? Really enjoyed this, another band that I think was just before my time and an influence on so many of the bands I got into at college etc…. Would revisit.
Pretty cool album. It cooks more on the second half. I usually play 13 Songs, but this might enter my rotation too. I can't commit to it yet though.
I’ve never listened to Fugazi before and admit I didn’t know anything about them. I knew the name, but I’m embarrassed to admit that I thought their music was a totally different oeuvre. I had them in my mind akin to Yanni. My mistake for not giving them a chance before. This is right up my alley. Awesome stuff.
4.3 - This was really cool. The right amount of heavy aggression. Fave track was blueprint and definitely going to check out more.

Pure crap.
This is a solid album. I had heard of Fugazi, but I'm not sure I head ever heard an actual song before. Tight, aggressive songs with great guitar punchy rhythm section and can clearly hear the link to "grunge." Some standout tracks were "Blueprint," "Repeater," "Turnover," and "Shut the Door" (I liked the softer sound with some intense/powerful moments). I'll dig more into the catalog.
Good first impression, as I haven't theard Fugazi before. I like the active drums, which are very good, as is the general musicianship is general. On top of this, I like how the album's produced. You can hear each instrument clearly, which is not easy with all that's going on in each song. Brendan #1's a great instrumental. Liked songs added: - Merchandise - Shut the Door

Not really my thing, but that's my fault, not theirs. Too punky for rock, too mild for hardcore... dunno. Hard to classify.

I knew a few songs by Fugazi but none were on this album. All good stuff here but nothing stood out.
i really like this album, and it's foundational to so much music that i ended up loving through the late 90s and early 00s (and beyond). simple and to the point, great interplay between the instruments.

Not Punk but clearly of it. Not Grunge but clearly a signpost to it. Faves are - the first 5 songs as a block, and Shut The Door The 3 Songs EP included in this is a nice bonus - Joe 1 is my EP fave.

With the exception of The Waiting Room, which I've always liked (& isn't on this album), Fugazi mostly sounds to me like what I'd describe as "frat punk", paving the way for bands like The Offspring, Limp Bizkit, etc. Maybe liked 1 or 2 tracks ok. But nah.

I've listened to Fugazi's 13 Songs compilation album a bunch of times. Hadn't listened to Repeater before, pretty good, plenty of punky beats to mosh around to!

This album is all about taking big chunky swings at big topics with a simplistic fury. But I can't help but prefer Fugazi's faster, simpler fare.

I feel like this the type of album i would've savaged if I had gotten it in the first 500 but I actually enjoyed this one a decent amount. It's the typical aggressive hardcore of the late 80s and early 90s but I didn't get sick of it halfway through as I tend to do with this genre.

This is a great post-hardcore album. I'm sure it influenced a lot of musicians especially in the following Grunge era. Great basslines and a great instrumentation all together.
I don't know if I like this album. Fugazi were very influencial, but this is sometimes difficult to listen to. I see why many bands reference them, but I don't really like it.

A bit too hard for me, yesterday it was a 2, today I softened to a 3, but prob won't listen to it again.
Loud. Not particularly enjoyable. But it didn't make me want to pierce my eardrums with a skewer to make the noise stop, so I guess that's something.
5/10. The singing was unfortunate but not overpowering enough to where I didn’t enjoy other elements. I liked a lot of the instrumental elements, especially the transitions from song to song and the bass guitar. But it wasn’t impressive enough to take the total product above a 5 more me.

As straight forward as Post Hardcore can get. No frills, no thrills. Ian MacKaye and his band of Straight edge rockers form the bones of what the genre would later become. This in combination with their debut are the reason this genre exists.
Kind of a punk hard-core transition album. It's not the kind of music I particularly enjoy listening to. What stood out to me on many songs was a very melodic bassline coming through the noise of the distorted guitars a loud vocals. The bass isn't normally distinguishable in this style of music, I found that very interesting to hear
I liked this - very decent.
meh...others do it better. The vocals are not great, the lyrics are too straightforward, the guitar and drums are good but nothing unique about it. Their sound just feels like a lot of other 80's and 90's bands and nothing stands out enough for me to want to add this to my mix.

The first couple songs weren’t bad. In fact, the first song’s vocals remind me of the lead singer of Los Diablos Blancos (check out their album Golderado if you haven’t heard of them, they rock). But overall, just couldn’t get into it.
Incredibly clean punk album that fells no less raw despite the lack of noise. very legible all around, but especially in the bass department. Managing to be forward without being showy. All tied together with little to no pause between track.

Nej, det är här inte min kopp te. De bästa låtarna är de instrumentella, vilket säger allt man behöver veta om sången.

metal I can get behin
Fugazi is one of those bands that’s difficult to critique. They had such an immense influence on music. Fugazi got America pregnant and birthed a million garage bands. This record is fucking great! The only thing wrong with this album is that it doesn’t have Waiting Room on it.

Ik kan ook niet zingen. Maar daar val ik de wereld niet mee lastig. En als ik het zou doen, zou ik het niet in een schuurtje opnemen. Ze zullen die amateurklank van de zang wel expres zo opgenomen hebben. Stelletje toneelspelers. Het lastige bij het raten, is dat de muziek soms wel weer heel fijn is, als de zanger even het schuurtje is uitgelopen. Dan heb je aardige kroeg-meedein-muziek. De Frans Bauer test dan maar. Waar luister ik liever naar? Frans Bauer dan maar.
Ik ben eigenlijk net te laat ingestapt in de hardcore, punkrock en hun post- en emo-varianten, om veelvuldig de grondleggers daarvan te luisteren. Als ik doorklik op post-hardcore op wiki, dan ken ik alle andere bands wel die als voorbeelden worden genoemd. Dit is dus meer eind jaren 80 en begin jaren 90, waardoor het wat grover en wat kaler is vaak. De drums vind ik wel gaaf, vrij droge kale klappen. Soms komt er een geweldig groovend stuk in. En de zang is het beste wanneer het lijkt alsof de zanger 5 meter van de microfoon af staat, want dan blend het het beste in de rest van de muziek. Maar het is uit die tijd allemaal wat ongepolijst en ik ben meer fan van de meer opgepoetste en zuiverder geproduceerde muziek. Al met al kan ik hier wel prima naar luisteren, en ben ik al heel blij dat er dit soort muziek in staat. Ik vind dat er nog betere muziek in het genre is. Maar de kans dat we dat in deze snoblijst ooit tegen gaan komen is vrij klein, dus doen we het gewoon met deze grondleggers. Normaal zou ik 4 sterren geven, maar met het bonuspunt voor het genre klik ik lekker op 5. Bovendien moet ik wat compenseren voor de ratings van de zure broeders waarschijnlijk. :-P
You are not what you own. I didn't understand what Fugazi was when I was younger and discovering music. That's a damn shame.
I can appreciate the punkness and the musicianship, but it just doesn't jive with me for some reason.

3.8 - Amazing guitar work with surprising nuance, especially considering other hardcore and hardcore-adjacent records I’ve heard. I love the dynamic song structures. Despite the anti-capitalist rage, the overall tone is heady and measured. Standout: “Blueprint”
This is very good musically, but I've never enjoyed shout-y vocals. If there was more melody in the vocals I might have loved this. While I'm glad I listened to it once, I don't feel like I'll be revisiting.

Insanely talented musicians. Especially for punk rock. Only weakness is the vocalist who doesn’t quite do it for me. If I had any history with this group I’d prolly love the album more.
I never really got into punk all that much as a kid and now I really wonder why. This totally would have been my jam. I've always known of Fugazi but never really listened to them all that much outside their big songs. Great band.

Guitarrrrrrrr. Shred shred awesome sauce. There was a moment in Joe 1 where the music lined up with a beeping timer in the cafe I was in. It was awesome. I also think I’m biased because it was a good morning, but thats just how it goes. 9/10

turnover - okay slay, I'm liking this WOAH I WAS NOT EXPECTING THOSE VOCALS 6/10 I like it but I'm going off of a tough scale so 6/10 is pretty good imo repeater - I didn't even know the song switched 💀 I don't like this one as much but it's not bad. 4/10 Brendan #1 - again, didn't realize the song changed 💀 it's pretty good. doesn't stand out to me though. 5/10 Merchandise - I like the bassline, it's giving the cure meets twisted sister meets the offspring and also like coming of age movie. 6/10 blueprint - i like this, the vocals throw it off a little but that's okay, it's still pretty good 7/10 sieve fisted find - meh. 4/10 greed - I don't like it 2/10 two beats off - bro sounds like he's high but slay 6/10 styrofoam - meh. 4/10 reprovisional - 4/10 shut the door - I'm bored 6/10 song #1, Joe #1, break in - all these songs sound the same 4/10 literally they sound like the offspring but not 😭
Forgettable
I love the history of the DC scene and the characters in it. Wish I liked Fugazi a little more than I do.
How did this make the list? I am not a fan. I am sure someone out there likes this band, but not me.
I thought it was ok. I liked the drums and the basslijes were great but the rest was a little lacking and loud. But in the future I could probably appreciate it with a better starting point and introduction.

How on earth did I never know Ian MackAye was in Fugazi? Big fan of minor threat and Fugazi has always been on my radar, I just never made that connection. In any case, this just didn't click completely with me today. I really liked some tracks, didn't care for others. I have a feeling this is one I have to listen to again when I don't have a hangover on a monday morning lmao.

Another classic band with a lo-fi sound that isn't entirely my thing, though I can see why it's popular and I enjoyed Merchanise and Blueprint quite a lot. Just doesn't go far enough down that route to hold my attention.
This album is patchy, but good - it sometimes falls into tuneless shouty noise, but most of the time it manages to walk that line pretty well. Like Tim says, it's quite hard work, but there are bits that are a bit more polished; Blueprint is probably the most polished song on the album and also probably the best. 3/5, could make the case for a higher score based on its impact but it's a bit too raw, rough and ready for me.

This was described by YouTube as post hard-core what the hell that means god only knows. To me this is PUNK, it appears to be a disillusioned youth attempting to make a political statement whilst displaying a lack of musical/vocal talent or ability. That is not to say they don't possess this ability, merely that they are trying to display this lack. In fact there is quite a bit of talent if you look past the general feel of the finished product. Having said that, not my cup of tea. 1
Very raw and angry with some heavy subject matter. I really liked it and fully understand why Fugazi inspired so much of the music that I love. I can only imagine the energy they would create live, probably a much better live band than in recorded form. The album really builds for me. ‘Brendan #1’ drives it on at a furious pace and the album gets better from there. A solid 4.
I liked this when it came out, but never saw them live unlike many of their contemporaries. Back then, this would have been lumped into the UK music presses catch all 'U.S. Hardcore' moniker, and many of the bands from the 1980's/90's have now either mainly categorised in 'noise rock' (more experimental with chord/dischord and song structures) or 'hardcore' (like thrash punk) however, like all over analysing of the past some years later, it's all splintered further, like 'Grunge' which is a stylistic offshoot of these two genres, so I get the 'post hardcore' tag this band have been given. Anyway, now that has cleared up my understanding of the modern terms these bands are now linked to, this album is excellent! The title track and 'Shut the Door' are good examples of the mix of 'noise rock' and p'ost hardcore' with their discordant, start/stop, fast/slow style. Whereas 'Merchandise' leans more to 'Hardcore' Standout tracks: Repeater, Blueprint, Styrofoam, Shut the Door. Now I've rediscovered Fugazi, they will be payed more often now. A low 5.

This is great, really it is.both ahead and very much of its time. Very punk. Very musical at the same time. Not for everyone, if you click with it you'll love it. If you dont it's just noise.

Pretty solid punk album. The playing has a lot of energy to it. You can tell all the players are very in sync with each other throughout. Cool usage of harmonics on the guitars and the singers have perfect energy for a punk band. The songs are not immediately catchy for me like a lot of great punk is but I think they sit with you longer for that reason.

I knew of this band but hadn't heard them before. It sounds like a missing link between punk and 90s rock/grunge. The screamy vocals have now been done to death and don't do much for me. But the music is refreshingly complex and tight.
I've had this album since early college and have never listened all the way through. I know it's a seminal record and all that but it just never does anything for me.
Not a big "noise rock" fan but when I give it enough time it kind of grows on me. I can see where people can really get into it.

This did nothing for me - melodically this was pretty uninteresting to me. Would not have finished this album if I was listening on my own accord.

Not really my genre, but this album was listenable. Lyrics didn’t really draw me in as much as other punk albums, but musically I enjoyed it more. Probably wouldn’t listen again though
Much better hardcore punk album than most. While I wouldn't say it's melodic, it does have a few good sonic moments as opposed to being noise for the sake of making noise.
Better and more melodic than I expected. Is it possible this influenced Red Hot Chili Peppers?

I never like Fugazi as much as I feel like I should as a late Gen-X white guy.
I think this may be a classic case of I needed to be there. I can hear the talent and the energy is high. But they are completely new to me and I feel if I’d known about them in 1990, I would have more connection. Who knows what I was listening to back then? Probably The Chameleons. This lot seem to have incredibly right-on credentials. I just feel I’m a bit late to the party. Or the $5 gig?
I wasn't able to give this the attention I wanted to, but at the same time, a spin through the album was all I needed to recognize this band isn't going to make my "must-listen" list. I was glad to hear it, I have listened to Fugazi before, but not much — I thought I was going to be in for a full-metal onslaught. Now I know better, so it was educational. Good on them. They'll have to carry on without me.
I dug this. Every song didn't hit home, but most of them did. They sounded like a nice blend of Big Black and Slint with some Greg-Dulli-esque vocals on top. I also enjoyed the instrumentals. This seems like an album that will grow on me.
I don't even know what to say about this album. Amongst the guitar drone that hurt my ears, I could probably peg this as the 90s.

Wait, I didn’t review this? Classic post-hardcore, I can see this as a contender for Fugazi’s best, although I have a softer spot for Kill Taker and appreciate their last LPs. Still good shit though. B+
Fuck yeah! Never took the time to listen to this before. But every band that has any roots in punk mentions Fugazi, and i understand why. Pure explosion of energy but at the same time super tight. Love it! And what a cool band name!

Absolute belter of an album. My eyes lit up when this one came up. Favourite songs are "blueprint" and "shut the door"
The nostalgia is strong with this one, so for that reason, 4 stars.
I needed to listen to this at a much louder volume. Would have killed to see them live back in the '90s. 4.5/5

Liked this. Quite influential. Was only familiar with a couple of Fugazi songs before listening to this but now am willing to explore them further. Solid album.
I feel like you can either see they influenced certain artist or vice versus other artists influenced them. Their music sounded familiar and unique all at once. I listened to the album twice I liked it so much.

this album was great and i really enjoyed it. the post-hardcore/punk sound leads to a lot of high-energy songs that are musically varied and interesting, in my opinion. i don't mind the vocals at all and the more i learn about fugazi, the more i admire their perspectives, politics, and DIY attitude. i hadn't heard more than a handful of their songs before now, but these'll go into my regular rotation. i almost gave this four stars but i just rated rolling stones as four and this was so much better. five stars, dammit! favorites: turnover, repeater, blueprint, sieve-fisted find, two beats off

yeah this album was pretty cool. i've never really listened to this sort of music but it was full of energy and this album was just balls to the wall nonstop. not to mention the musicianship is very good. very fun, very angsty, not generally my cup of tea, but definitely a fun listen.

Keeps it simple for the most part, which make the deviations and trills stand out - the drums on Brenda #1, for example. Angry, grounded, good shit.
I got really seeing a post-hardcore album on the list. Finally something that was not your run to the mill rock, only for it to be a huge let down. Not unlistenable but will not revisit.
What a hidden gem, though I'm surprised 1001 didn't opt for one of their more commercially successful albums.
Why do the singers ruin everything???? like the instruments are doing an ok job at best (its not for me but fairs) and then I have to listen to shouting rubbish. Unfortunately for Fugazi, I had just listened to Aretha Franklin who actually knows how to sing and produce a note that is in tune so my ears had a jump scare. It was also boring and everything sounds the same. where is the flavour and variety????? On the second track i think (it sounds the same), ouch my poor, poor ears... i hate this. it's just noise third track- wait why was it a little funky but then it went back to poo again

I’m pretty sure that I discovered Fugazi through MySpace many moons ago, which definitely ages me somewhat. I can’t remember any specific songs I heard from them back then, but if I remember correctly they were punk. This leaves me hopeful for today’s listen, so let’s find out! Songs I already knew: none Favourites: Merchandise, Reprovisional It feels kind of hard to put a number on the album. As a punk album, it sounds very good and exactly as I would have hoped. If I was an anarchistic teenager with plenty of angst then I would possibly have loved this. However, I’m not an apathetic thirty-something year old who likes hot chocolates and trying her best to ignore the goings on in the world. In that, I’m not as mad about this as maybe I once would have been. Regardless, I did enjoy it, so there’s that.

I love this album, what a genuine surprise, I have already listened to it several times.
The band’s name was familiar to me but I don’t think I had heard their music before. Super intense, harder driving and more thrash-like than my usual fare, and interesting blend of elements including hip-hop…and real high-level skills on their instruments. I thought it was very good and interesting to my ears.

I’ve been blessed with three incredible debut albums in a row (ArchAndroid, Blue Lines and now Repeater) A post-hardcore classic with so much groove behind the aggression, this hits so hard but feels so lush at the same time, a truly amazing balance resulting in a distinctive and magnetic sound

Brilliant, and probably not one I would have heard without this. Punky, grungy, sort of metal at points, with a prog undercurrent. A clear influence on loads of bands I love - obviously Nirvana, but also At the drive in, Biffy, Royal Blood, and loads more. A new favourite for me!
Don't need to play a second of this to give it a review, as it's probably one of my most played albums of all time by maybe my favourite artist of all time. It's everything that rock music should be: it's energetic, loud, aggressive, the lyrics have meaning, and the vocals are delievered with so much emotion. It's amazing that they somehow kept this quality up throughout their entire career. What a band.

One of the best, if not the best Post-hardcore record. Everything here is fine. The melodies, the shoutings, the message. I could listen to it all over again once it’s over.

It's a classic. Was familiar with Fugazi since youth but mostly from thumbing past them in record shops. About 10 years ago I finally listened to them, starting with Ten Songs and loved it. Of course I did, it's right up my alley. Much more so than Minor Threat it seems. So it all sounds fresh, but I suspect it would still sound fresh anyway. Love that several songs are lead by the rhythm section, its a very different structure and probably what keeps it fresh. Brendan 1 and Repeater are perfect examples of this. Then there's Merchandise and Styrofoam, absolutely made for flying down dirt track hills on your bike to, and with a great message. Blueprint absolutely kicks arse. Fucking love it
Sounds like early grunge, a bit of punk and a bit of rock too. Great album that kinda sums up the 90s. Loud and doesn't giving a fuck.
pretty unique sounding album, especially for the time. This album shows the transition from traditional hardcore to a more alternative sound.
Foot tapping. Catchy. Nothing super special tho, middle tracks get a little dull but they start and end pretty strong. I like the guitar tone on Shut the door.

The cover of this album is so iconic, I've seen it for decades on stickers, posters, featured at record shops, etc. Having finally listened to it, I was very impressed and now understand why it's so highly influential and regarded.

It seems to have a cult following. As someone from a completely different part of the world - I have never heard of them. It's giving me skate punk vibes with a bit of ambition to be something more than that. And it kind of irritates me because it somehow gets pretentious and insincere? I don't know. Repeater is a great tune though. up to 3
Really great! Instrumentation is fantastic, the bass is really killer. Drummer is great too!
Could not quite get a handle on this. A few glimpses of exciting tracks and hyper-energetic but hard to see what stood out in this album. Perhaps shook things up at the time.
Stone cold classic. Imitated by others, but never matched. Both grooves and shreds. And the lyrics are just as strong as the music.
This has the elements that I like about Fugazi, the tight bass and drums with abrasive guitars. However I never liked this album and still didn’t really enjoy it this time. I think it lacks the hooks and choruses that The Argument has, which is my favourite of theirs. I didn’t find any song particularly memorable.
Good album title because that's exactly what this album is: repetitive. The songs are so indistinguishable it's baffling.
4/5. It's hard to get punk right but this one slams it out of the park. I don't remember it too much but it's not for lack of songwriting. I felt the rage and anger. Also, the songs are catchy as well so that's a plus.
This feels like God himself came down from Heaven with the blueprint for the greatest album of all time in his hand, but got mugged and the blueprint ended up in the hands of a drunk crackhead. The music fucking sucks ass, but in a good way. I don't know how that works.. it just does.

It’s just very in its lane, classically executed punk rock. Good vibes, I liked. I appreciated the straightforwardness of it. Familiar with Fugazi already, but they haven’t rewritten the book for me or anything like that. You just get exactly what you paid for from them.

Door vele als een geweldige en invloedrijke band gezien, maar eigenlijk is het gewoon maar klote. Behalve hun cult hitje 'Waiting Room' (dat niet eens op deze plaat staat), zuigt dit rammelende stelletje lamme kut punkers gewoon.
Legendarisch, maar nooit goed beluisterd. Lekker hor.
Zo'n band die je geweldig wilt vinden, omdat ze 'toonaangevend' en 'baanbrekend' waren. Maar het is gewoon echt irritante gare kutzooi! Beetje schreeuwen en lomp op die gitaren raggen.

This album might've just jumped from zero into my top 10 favourite albums of all time. What a surprise. Why has it taken me so many decades to realise how awesome Fugazi are. They have always just flown under or besides my radar it seems. There is not a bad song on this album, only highlights. Songs with a dramatic tension, a great rhythm section, immense riffs, basslines and furious vocals.

I had to listen to this album a couple of times, but I think overall it is on this list because it links the hardcore/post-hardcore scene to grunge and what would become alternative rock. The first half of the album was the strongest. The musicianship was good if not a bit jarring, and the vocals felt similarly though they fit the music well. There were moments in the album that would have been at home on a 2000s alternative rock record and I'm not sure if that a good thing or not.
