Reviews (page 3 of 9)

So I can listen to dream pop all day. I had never heard of this band, but I went and checked out another one of their albums right after this, Depression Cherry, and liked that, too. I might go fall in a dream pop hole for a while today, it’s been a while.

This caught my ear. It’s nothing over the top, but I enjoyed listening to it. Say what you want about the music from this era, but these guys are better than most of their contemporaries. But then, that’s why I listen to the older stuff. I guess that makes me an old fogie.

Not really my style, not bad by any means, just not something I personally prefer.

Getting educated on mid 2000s indie

I consider myself a BH fan, but I don't feel this is their best work. I don't think it's necessarily "aged badly", but it feels dated in the sense that it's infused with early 2000s indie angst. Still, it's a great album for a rainy day or as background music (and I mean that as a compliment). BH are so talented when it comes to molding a consistent and tangible vibe across an album. Listened to: at Metrotech. Favorite tracks: Silver Soul, Walk in the Park, 10 Mile Stereo, Take Care

This album is so nostalgic to me as I used to listen to it on repeat when it was released in 2010, I can so vividly remember I was living in Brooklyn and listening to it on the work bus to the Bronx and while cleaning the dorm kitchen etc. (alongside The XX, Mumford & Sons, MGMT, Grizzly Bear, Phoenix, Florence & The Machine kind of vibes). It has a deeply comforting sound to me, which I don’t think is solely the nostalgia either, it’s just a soothing kind of chill music that makes me feel like I’m floating away. (4.5 stars)

One from my collection. There is something calming about this album, The way the music rises and falls. It is like a symphony. While there is nothing outstanding, it just hits the right spot. Notable Track is probably Zebra or Take Care. 4 Stars

4.2/5 Stars Top Songs: Silver Soul, Walk in the Park, Norway

I heard this band back when there was a lot of hype in the 2010's, and I thought they were good, but they didn't stick with me in any way. I can see why now, but I also do like and appreciate it a lot more, now. I think they were mixing some sounds and genres in a great and aurally pleasing way while still writing very good songs that do stand up. It's missing the last piece to make it 5 stars for me, but it's definitely a solid 4.

An easy listen. Solid blend of harmonies. powerful, breathy vocals, beach guitar vibes. A real jam.

zebra is still so good

3.5 (48:46, 10 tracks, 3rd album , 2010), Dream Pop (shoegaze) I've listened to this dozens of times now - possibly more than any other album yet. Struggling between 3 (boring dream pop) and 4 (interesting mood music) - ended with 4 just because of how many times I've listened to it and I would revisit it. Baltimore based dream-pop 3 piece (sometimes referred to as a duo as the drummer is an ‘after thought’) is led by Victoria Legrand is the lead vocals and lyrist – born in France, went to VASSAR her deep vocals are often confused to be male but she is cis-gender female. Alex Cally went to Oberlin so a lot of student debt here. Beach House – the name, according to Victoria, was somewhat random. They’ve toured with Skyler Skjelset of Fleet Foxes and Chris Bear of Grizzly Bear as touring musicians Teen Dream’s lyrics are abstract and atmospheric, focusing on a journey toward self-discovery for two overeducated musicians their lyrics are difficult to interpret. Legrand went on Twitter to address Katy Perry's album Teenage Dream, which was released later that year, for having a similar title as the band's album, writing they "can't believe this, and not in a good way" when linking to the Teenage Dream Wikipedia article. All by Victoria Legrand, except "Used to Be" co-written by Alex Scally Three singles; "Used to Be", "Norway" and "Zebra". Favorite Track: Zebra 1. "Zebra" 4:48 2. "Silver Soul" 4:58 3. "Norway" 3:53 4. "Walk in the Park" 5:22 5. "Used to Be" 3:59 6. "Lover of Mine" 5:06 7. "Better Times" 4:23 8. "10 Mile Stereo" 5:03 9. "Real Love" 5:20 10. "Take Care" 5:48 Total length: 48:46

Sana a

some of the songs are so popular for good reason 7-8/10

this is the newest album i've had so far. nice to hear something not from the 70's,, ofc i know the tiktok part of this band, and their sound is pretty consistent so i wasn't surprised. they're pleasant songs and idk if i'm ever gonna get INTO this album but i could imagine it would be good to put on in the background yk

Really great. I like Beach House, so I knew that I was going to like it but it beat my expectations for sure.

Definitely the type of music I would have been listening to in college

Vibey, def ahead of its time

Beach House is always a hit in my eyes, I loved this. It's on the longer side instead of Depression Cherry, love this.

Great. Big uni flashbacks.

Easy to sink into this one

I'm extremely bias because when it came out I would look out the window of the steamy Manchester bus, listening to this on my broken iPod that needed me to hold the aux cable way too hard, and hope that a Zoey Deschannel manic pixie dream girl would see me and think I was mysterious and break my heart.

A time machine to Primavera 2018. Makes me want sewer beers

This kind of reminds me a of Florence and the Machine a bit, though I didn't like it quite as much as I do them. It's not something that's a go to for me, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. 3.5/5

Thought I'd listened to this one before, but I guess not. I liked it quite a bit and has me wanting to check out their whole discography. Good times. 3.75/5

very enjoyable while driving, reading, dissociating

This was a super chill album. Not bad to listen at all.

Fuck yeah - gimme shoegaze and dream pop any day of the week. Yeah, you could argue every song follows a similar format, but what a format. The crescendos here are beautiful. Production is beautiful. Vocals are beautiful. Listen to this, sit down and look at the stars and tell me you don't feel even a little bit better. 8 / 10 Best track/s: Walk In The Park, Better Times, Zebra

Zebra - 7 Silver Soul- 8 (money trees) Norway - 7 Walk In The Park - 8 Used To Be - 8 Lover Of Mine - 7 Better Times - 7 10 Mile Stereo - 8 Real Love - 7 Take Care - 8 This is so good musically. Sometimes dont love the vocals but the music overall feels ethereal.

185/1001 Beach House - Teen Dream Heard before? ✅ Revisit? ✅ The algorithm has turned up two perfect weekend albums for me. This is perhaps not the Beach House album I'd have picked (Bloom or Depression Cherry), but it's still a wonderful listen. As the title suggests, it's got this dreamlike quality to it, but it doesn't completely carry you away. This is a bit more sparse than the two albums mentioned previously and not as lush. Still, I love it.

beyond easy to listen to and lose yourself in, letting it all wash over you

i really love beach house but i've only listened to their cherry depression album! but this one is so good. it's putting me in such a mood 🫶🏻

In some.ways there's nothing outstanding about this album, but on the flip side it's great to chill out to & worth repeat listens

Very pleasant

Very pleasant album to soothe my brain the morning after a rough night with sick kiddos. No real standouts except I have heard Silver Soul before. This is an incredibly consistent album from start to finish that was just a treat to listen to. Reminded me a fait bit of Fleet Foxes. Not really sure where the My Bloody Valentine influence comes in because this is good music I am listening to and MBV is not.

Never really listened to Beach House except for what Kev has played for me. Really great album with some cool synths and electronics working in the background. Wispy vocals go really well with this. All around strong album, no complaints at all over here. Shoutout Baltimore

8/10 - I really liked this, soft indie synth pop

Trippy to listen to this after about 12 years of dreaming it. This sound is genuinely in my dreams. I was there! When it happened! It was electric when it came out. It sounds so simple now but it was genuinely sooooo cool when it came out. Feels attached at the hip to that Grizzly Bear sound on Vekatamist. And now I can’t help deconstruct it when I listen. Much more Farfisa than I realized. More old drum machines. I just like this sound a lot and I’m allowed to like what I like. Is it the most dynamic sound ever? Hell no, it’s fairly one-note. They’ve got a sound and they just keep doubling down. But I just like something about it… it feels effortless. A lot comes down to the strident, enchanting vocals. Great sound. 4/5

Great album. Very dreamy and chill. A little too chill, if you asked me. I'm on to you, Beach House!

Definitely enjoyed this dream pop album. Would love to keep digging into their catalogue.

Never heard this, very xx-like? Cool.

Loved it and hope to return. Started out particularly strong. As a full album, the dreaminess works for me, although it does verge on sleepiness toward the end.

Teen Dream is definitely one of the most relaxing albums on this list. For some reason, when i first saw it, I thought that this album was gonna be shoegaze but since this album has practically zero distorted guitars or even anything resembling shoegaze, it isn't and is just a dream pop album. And that genre sure doesn't lie as this album sure was dreamy. The keyboards and the vocals especially gave that dream like vibe and i really liked that about this album. Granted, i don't get the album's full effect since i listened to this before work but i can still easily appreciate it. I was initially thinking of giving a high 3 stars but the later songs helped me push it to a 4. Best Song: 10 Mile Stereo Worst Song: Norway

Fell asleep to the 1st time, I guess thats why they call it Dream pop. As something of a dreamer, I approve. Beautiful effects throughout. Especially on Norway.

That was quite an unexpected treat. I have to be honest I’m very sceptical of music I’ve not heard of from this era, but to be fair, this is one I could revisit Eclectic and interesting throughout. It’s making a. Strong call For a guest appearance on the playlist of the mythical café Kelvinos

I don’t really understand why this the album that ends up on this list. Like it’s great, I love beach house, but I think that bloom and depression cherry are both better and I think they both showcase the style better. It was a good listen I’m just a little perplexed. Favorites: Norway, Take Care, Baby (Bonus Track)

Zebra Silver Soul Norway Walk in the Park

Amo a Beach House.

9 It’s not my fave beach house album but it’s an album i still love to much, such a swell of emotion every time. Always feel like I’m getting wrapped up in something when I listen to them. Love the beach house

Enjoyed this—chilled and a little dark. Giving it 4 so I come back to it.

A long time ago these guys bored me to death, but their older stuff has been growing on me lately. Just perfect, easy, dreamy music.

Oh hell yeah. Beautiful no skips.

Some really haunting sounds in here, very high highs but also a number of songs with considerably less impact in the latter half. 3.5/5

A beautiful and sensitive album. The atmosphere it creates is nostalgic and whimsical. Reminds me a lot of the fleet foxes, but less pretentious.

Good but a bit shoegaze-y for my tastes

Cozy but like sad cozy

01) Zebra - 7,5 02) Silver Soul - 8,0 03) Norway - 8,0 04) Walk In The Park - 7,5 05) Used To Be - 8,0 06) Lover Of Mine - 7,5 07) Better Times - 7,5 08) 10 Mile Stereo - 7,5 09) Real Love - 7,0 10) Take Care - 7,0 TOTAL: 7,55 (76/100) Current ranking: 308/736

Nice to listen to something it feels like I would have picked out on my own. Chill and soothing, enjoyable and I would come back over and over again.

lovely songs to have in the background, calm and relaxing

133/1001 :: Beach House - Teen Dream Heard before? ✅ Would I revisit? ✅ Rating: 8 Listen before you die: Yes When it comes to indie dream pop albums it doesn’t get much better than this. I’ve listened to this album before but frankly not enough. It’s easy to bounce through the album and at first glance the songs come off fun, but lyrically deeper themes are being explored. So far it’s looking like one of the best albums to drop this century.

If you’re looking for a beautiful album that’s mellow and chill to lounge around the house to, then this is the perfect album. The music is very melancholic, immersive, and has a dreamlike atmosphere to it. You’ll definitely pick up on some vintage synths that give the album a nostalgic feel, along with subtle percussion layered in as a backdrop to enhance the ambient soundscape rather than being the driving force. Overall, this is really a very relaxing album that I would most likely either start my day with or end my day to help wind me down.

2010s indie rock, folk. Floaty, dreamy and melodic.

Songs that make you feel like you are walking on a beach in florida or something. Kinda eternal sushine of the spotless mind type

Pretty cool

Slow and calm, a very chill album for a crazy week personally. Favourite song: Used to Be HM: Walk in the Park, Take Care

Jättebra! Så mysigt, så tryggt, bara good vibes verkligen :)

Standouts: Lover of mine 10 Mile Stereo

Very dreamy and ethereal. Very cool.

imagine you're David liu in 2015-2017 and you give beach house to jess. he's like oh man this is cool but doesn't really believe you. fast forward a decade and he's been wrong. this is beautiful fall sad music. wendy would dig it. FOUR! better than my most recent FOUR!

The production is lush and the music is calming from start to finish. The vocals and instruments come together and blend perfectly like the scent notes of a favorite comforting candle. I don't listen to Beach House often, but every once in a while, one of their albums is just the medicine I need. They have a pretty consistently good discography.

Kivan rauhallinen ja sumuinen tunnelma.

Mukavainen tunnelma. Täydellistä taustamusiikkia kun virkkausinspiraatio iskee keskellä yötä.

Being a huge Beach House fan didn’t come to me through Teen Dream. The album that turned me into a freak was their follow up, Bloom, in 2012. I can state definitely that Bloom is my favorite album of the 2010’s. Teen Dream is lovely, and certainly the album where Beach House found their epic sound, but as a full package it lacks the otherworldly perfection of later albums. Some songs are pretty but the melody might be muddy or it just lacks that something extra special compared to later work. This is also their trendy record, the album in which the Pitchforks and other hipster blogs of the world tell you it is their best, and those pretentious internet juggernauts are the only true definitive sources of letting you in on what is “cool” and what is not, right?? Dream(y) is the perfect adjective and noun to apply to Beach House. Their music floats and oscillates through your ear drums forcing your soul to shake and rise. It may not happen on first listen, but it will eventually. They don’t have a bad album, just those that might be less great than others. If you were to put their entire discography on shuffle though, albums wouldn’t matter. You’d be mesmerized by the dreaminess and otherworldliness of each piece. For that, they are the Mazzy Star of the 21st century.

Fantastic melodies an instrumentation. Perfect dream pop. I think I prefer their album Bloom but this is pretty great.

It was good i enjoyed the song are really good

To be honest, I rate most albums without knowing most of the lyrics. It really comes down to vibe. For example, in listening to "Lover of Mine" off Teen Dream, I originally thought Victoria Legrand was singing "Off to Norway." And on "Norway" I thought she was singing "No way." Regardless, I dig the vibe.

Beach House is one of the bands from the past fifteen years that I really like, as dream pop is one of my favorite genres. Teen Dream is considered their magnum opus and it's a beautifully written, dreamy pop music. I still love their next album (Bloom) even more which is grander and has even more gorgeous soundscapes and melodies. I also love their 7 album very much. Teen Dream is great too so it's deserves a good rating, though not a perfect 5.

Liked 'Zebra' and 'Walk In The Park' and '10 Mile Stereo'. Glad I finally listened to this one. I had a tough day but it was pretty soothing.

This is the kind of music I liked quite a bit back in the day. Not sure I see why it's on the list, but it'll be a nice addition to my collection.

Hypnotic and dreamlike. You listen to this with nice headphones, in a dark room, with your eyes closed, and you will be chill in ways you didn't know possible. Plus, an entire song based on a Twin Peaks reference? Sign me up. Do not understand the reviews saying this lacks energy or substance. Not everything needs to be a four part rock band.

Better Times is an all timer

It's certainly hypnotic and a lovely sounding record, yet somehow it's also a bit detached. I felt motionless, like a rock, slowly eroding away, but immune to my surroundings. I've no clue what he was singing about, but it sounded very serious.

Have never heard of them before but was very pleasantly surprised. Would categorise as background and chill out music

Really enjoyed this. Cool, dreamy pop.

Reminds me of fleet foxes I've heard silver soul before Quiet and relaxing All songs sound the same Good background noise Listened to twice

It's a vibe

Loved it! The really focus in on a particular style that really works for them and they're a pleasure to listen to. Maybe the second half wasn't as great as the first.

that was quite nice and soothing, perhaps slightly repetitive

nice calming

I really didn’t have high hopes for this one when it was both a group I’ve never heard of, and a genre which could effectively be anything, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Really enjoyed this and could see adding it into my at work listening playlist.

decent

A wonderful album to coincide with a relaxing soak in the bath The only knock is that there is a distinct sameness to a lot of the songs

What a band and album. Still good 15 years later

Beach House, a duo from Baltimore and Paris (to a certain degree), create dreamy music. I don't think this is their magnum opus - Depression Cherry is dream pop perfection - but this is almost as good. Something about it just got me hooked all those years ago and I am happy to revisit now. 78/100, rounded up.

I surprisingly had heard a lot of these before, not sure where I know them from.

Fun and cool album.

Loved it! Dreampop, ethereal. Great as background music, or active listening. It's versatile

3.8 3x catch up over a few days finishing 10/22. good album

Narcotic, woozy, dream-like, it feels like hovering in a hospital bed, existing between states of consciousness, untethered to pain, when the next dose of morphine hits.

Oh. Zebra! THAT is the name of that song! I love that song. I never connected that song to a band name. Alright...good opener! (And now the lyrics "black and white horse" makes way more sense...) I see the line between MBV which we recently listened to and this. A nice progression. I really love the keyboard sounds on this one. I like this one. Happy I sat down to listen to the whole thing finally.

Album slow, huge pop sound and kinda catchy, great opener. Not my fave type of music but very lush production. Got better as it went on, walk in the park and used to be are good

Nice enough

I liked this album. It reminded me of The Neighborhood and Coldplay.

Indie Classic likely. Although I love this band none of their albums are direct 5 stars for me but maybe upon revisting this one will be amazing.

pretty good

Dad- 6.5 Mom- 6 Mike- NA Lori- 7.5 Michael- 9 Miles- 8 Cole- 8 Avg- 7.5

Quite calming. Shoegaze-like. I like the closing track Take Care 🥹

Some very enjoyable dream pop. FS: Norway

Really like this laid back album

I had never heard of ‘dream pop’ as a genre, but I guess it does what it says on the tin! Laid back and flowing tunes that are well complemented by great vocals. I get hints of Tame Impala, Slowdive, and even Arcade Fire, and I guess dream pop is like a light version of Shoegaze. I liked it especially the last 2 tracks and will probably check out the rest of their stuff. In places it was really missing that extra spark, another layer to kick on to. Probably a 3.5, but I will give it a 4.

I like it and it‘s very relaxing listening to it. My favourite songs were lover of mine and norway

Ich mag die lässige, ruhige Stimme. Auch der Sound passt.

It’s fine. I felt it was very predictable - an expansion on the track I already knew - Silver Soul. 3.5/5

I’ve listened to them before. I like them but I have to be in the right mood because it’s very chill and mellow. Enjoyed!!

Some excellent, mellow indie music vibes

Been a while since I listened to this one, lush production, ethereal pop sounds, most songs have a good catchy hook, stays the same pace throughout, worth a listen for sure

Feels like the album dream pop was invented for, hazy and warm, that lovely nostalgic feeling of being safe and secure you get as you're just about to drift off. I have room in my life for this kind of escapism, you can fall deep into the lushness of this record, Victoria Legrands voice is comforting and calm but soulful and understated.

Good shoegaze album

A lovely slice of dream pop, this whole album (and let’s be honest, all of Beach House’s work) washes over you like a wonderful fizzy blanket of noise. They’ve released better albums than Teen Dream that should have made the list, but I’m just glad they’re represented on here at least.

♫ Listening to "Norway" by Beach House (Teen Dream (Bonus Track Version), 2010) ♫

Nice background music for working, I'll look into more of their stuff.

Dreamy, indeed.

I didn't like it at first, not really my genre or speed. By the 3rd or 4th I adapted to it and really enjoyed this one! Fell asleep to it on a plane and gave it a second listen and this one was great.

Liked this relaxing

Ultimate vibe album. Not quite Space Song but I do like it a lot!

Love the sound the dreaminess, the guitars, my mind drifted off while the album was playing.

You can make the argument it's their best record, it's certainly the start of the beat run in their career. It's only short in a couple of places; for example, more is desired on the loud end of the dynamic range; Lover of Mine is a bit wonky; the pace very rarely gets above a walk across the whole record. They're also charming flaws.

first listen boring. second listen compelling.

Straightforward dream pop that doesn't break barriers, rather sets the standard for approachable dream pop. Love some Beach House.

Very slick shoegaze, like the poppest most well produced shoegaze. 3.5 stars rounded up.

low to medium 4, i really liked some of these songs and the rest were okay ambiance

I really liked this album, it's the perfect dream/shoegaze vibe. It's super cohesive but still has some standout tracks, and it doesn't feel overlong. Even though it's a genre that can be a bit "boring", I felt they managed to make a nice, interesting record although there's a slight slump in the middle. The vocals are excellent, super atmospheric. The production is very good too, the effects also work very well to set the tone of the album. "Silver Soul" is a classic track by now, but aside from that, I really liked "Zebra" and "Take Care", loved the vocals on both.

perfect hangover bliss can't tell if you're coming down or on the way up Fav track - Norway

I actually wrote off Beach House as just being banal background music, but this was actually supremely lovely. Kinda wish I didn't skip seeing them at a festival literally two days ago.

Loud and trippy, but also a bit sparse. Definitely puts the "Dream" in Dream Pop.

7.75/10. Well I gotta be honest most of these songs sound very similar but I think it still works as a whole project. Good dream pop!

Baltimore represent! Damn I love this city and the music born from it. Beach House has always been a favorite and this record is no exception. Very dreamy vibes, super chill and pleasant.

we wouldn't have gotten money trees by kendrick lamar without this album existing so for that reason alone i love this album

i dont have anything funny to say, i just really adore beach house's work

Just beautiful - Perfect for a chill Saturday morning.

The perfect dream pop album.

There is definitely something quality here. I managed 2 listens through and there was lovely floaty indie pop and the quality seemed high. I want to get headphones on and really get sucked into this. 3.5 rounded up as the sun is shining

- silver soul

I really liked it. The vibe was really good, and I enjoyed it while doing stuff.

Dreamwave? Definitely a new interest I'll keep in rotation

A pretty cool dream pop record that I will listen to again. But for me it missed some ethereal guitar work to be truly great.

Playing Tame Impala music before Tame Impala was Tame Impala...

Banger, never thought to listen to more beach house I miss this kind of indie

Beach House always bring a solid 8 for me. I'd never listened all the way through this one, but it's a bit more straight synth pop compared to their more modern stuff which is more hazey. The overall sound is nostalgic to the early 2010's for me as well when there was a lot of this innocent indie pop floating around. Good Vibes! 8/10

Enjoyable mild music for a bar with a lot of plants and dim lights. Stand-out: Used to Be

Really solid example of indie rock from the era. Nothing offensive, nothing too twee. A good time capsule.

”Every Beach House song sounds the same” Yeah but have you considered that that sound fucking rules? Play it again Sam.

Makes me impatient for warmer weather in the middle of March.

A perfect album for a sunny saturday morning.

It sets a certain mood quite well but overall runs a little boring.

I like the opening so far. I like zebra and silver souls a lot. Really nice tracks. I’m not a fan of the drone sound on Norway. It sounds like a test oscillator. The sounds are cool in Norway, I like the bending but it kinda makes me feel queasy. 🤣ok, now I’m up to stereo. This song feels like I’m flying across a country side. I love this song so much. Real love has a haunting melody.

Very groovy album. Soft sounds that work in the air around you. While not overly majestic or demanding, its subtlety makes you want to listen again.

It was kind of anonymous, no track really stood out, but I enjoyed it a lot.

This album will always hold a special place in my heart. I had it on a flash drive while I was living in Madagascar. On bus rides, my friend and I would pay the driver to play our flash drive, to the delight of no one but ourselves. When Beach House would hit, we could hear audible groans and cries of, translated roughly, "What the fuck? There's not a single accordion in this!"

goes without saying, sounds "dreamy." mesmerizing atmosphere, elegant instrumental palate, very well executed. occasionally devolves into languid "soundtrack" pop.

I like this a lot, but I recognize that the songs are essentially identical.

Looooove dreampop. Four out of five.

Bit weird to be dreaming of teens innit

New to me and I really like it!

Fuck yeah, chill vibes good vibes y todo.

Didn't love the opener or closer but the midsection had some songs I'm definitely going to revisit, really liked this

I'm Not sure what to think about this album. I like it, but I can't tell you specifically why I like it. Great stuff to do accounting bookwork to.

Sounds like a more ethereal version of Mew, and I quite like that.

I “listened” to this over the snow break while doing other tasks, and it wasn’t remarkable. I’m really glad I listened to it again because I liked it a lot the second time. Maybe not the most unique sound for this era, but no complaints.

It’s hard to live in that space between indie rock and dream pop and create a feel that’s something other than “just woke up from a Nyquil nap” on repeat, but Beach House does it. This isn’t my favorite of their albums, but I remember hearing it for the first time and thinking they’d be a favorite for years to come.

This has a very nice vibe to it, may have to check out some more by these guys. Simpsons: No

Enjoyed the chilled vibes.

Didn't think this would be my thing at all but I really enjoyed it. Felt both chill and upbeat at the same time. I don't know when I'd ever listen to it but it was really enjoyable well made music.

Yeah, every song sounds the same, but the sound is really good!

Nice stuff. Pleasant to listen to.

I went into this not expecting to like it all that much. I was wrong.

Mark another album down from this list that is going straight to my drugs playlist. Such an emblematic album from the minimalist, indie synth music that dominated so much of this era. I really did enjoy this one but couldn't help but get slightly annoyed with the vamping from time to time.

This album perfectly fits the vibe of relaxing on the Chesapeake Bay on a brisk May afternoon. The airy instruments combine with a light vocal performance to provide a defining summer album of the 2010s. As a beginning hip-hop listener, it also is worth mentioning that the second track is one sampled in the 2012 album good kid, m.A.A.d. city by Kendrick Lamar. Favorite track: Silver Soul

i thought this was a very pleasant (even inoffensive) album to listen to, so i was shocked at the extreme, uh, "passion" in the reviews. so many 1-star and 5-star responses! it's definitely got that aughts-into-2010s indie-shoegazey sound and vibes, with the soft, shimmering guitar and synths, lush vocals, and the whole thing drenched in reverb. my biggest gripe is how homogeneous everything sounds as a whole, without many peaks or elements to set certain tracks apart from the rest. the detuned synth on norway is kinda cool, but that's the only thing that immediately comes to mind. everything else just kinda follows the same 4/4 drum pattern and/or whatever you call that pattern in the lead with a lower anchor note and a higher melodic note moving around as alternating eighth notes. you know what i'm talking about! anyway, pretty good album overall. favorites: zebra, silver soul, norway, walk in the park, 10 mile stereo, take care

Dope dope dope, wish i was more edgy and listened to this growing up more, Silver Soul is an 11/10 song

I’ll listen and enjoy anything Beach House puts out. This is no exception - quality dream pop throughout.

Never heard of the artist, I really enjoyed the album though

Surprisingly musical richness of melodies. Monetary restrictions of production budget limits.

Minnir mig svolítið á Band of Horses. Mjög gott stöff sem ég mun pottþétt spila aftur

I like this. All the songs on it are good. Also, it feels weird hearing the original sample from Money Trees by Kendrick Lamar, considering the fact that I’m so familiar with that song. In conclusion, this is again pretty good.

Gorgeous dream pop that hits the spot for me.

What a fun album. Its very much *indie vibe* rock. Less traditional instruments, a lot of keyboards that keep this thing grooving. I'm always a sucker for this kind of music. I might not gravitate towards it all the time, but its something that I'm okay having on in the background all the time. Its vibey, its chill, its easy to listen to. What's most interesting to me is that its somewhat chameleon. Sometimes the songs sound sad and intimate, where the same song can also sound vibrant and fun. Its kind of crazy how it can shape shift like that. Which is probably why I'm okay just having this on whenever.

🤌🏼

pre: never heard of this band before I would never choose to put it on for a car trip, but I would throw it on in the background if my brain was occupied by something else. Strange album. Not engaging enough to be a primary focus album, but just when I thought it was background music it would pull out a weird key change or vocal.

Kind of dreamy. Reminds me of Fleet Foxes for my morning jacket. Kind of pleasant and nice.

I've always enjoyed the general vibe of this album a lot, but having listened to a few other Beach House albums, I think they're guilty of just repeating the same formula over and over. Some great songs on here though, very relaxing and reminiscent of my college years and my first car - this CD was in the stereo very often.

2010 was a hell of a year. 59 dem senators. Inglorious Bastards is in theaters. Packers finally got serious about their pass rush and a super bowl was the horizon. Take me back.

Beach house I liked Zebra. Norway is cool.10 mile stereo was cool too. Actually all the songs are good and the textures are beautiful. Also wish it went harder at times too, would be cool to have a louder dynamic range. Would be a 5 if there was one happy song on the album.

Really well made album, cool textures and vibe. Really specific sound of 2010 indie. Really well done but not super exciting for me personally because of the narrow dynamic range.

Very typical indie music. Wish it was a bit harder. Lyrics are nice but sometimes hard to hear what she’s saying

Had a memorable night with the band after their show at the ABC in Glasgow a few years ago, took them to Sleazys and they loved it. First saw them in the 6 Music tent at Latitude Festival and they blew me away, have loved everything they’ve done since, including this

10 Mile Stereo does something to my brain.

Easy listening, in the best sense

Teen Dream is an apt name, this reminded me of high school and variety nights. Good music, cosy and pleasant to listen to. I'm recovering from surgery and this music is helping me to get through the waves of pain. It's comforting.

A beautifully dreamy, melancholic album from 2010. Silver Soul and 10 Mile Stereo are my standout tracks. The title, Teen Dream, perfectly captures the album's evocative mood

Thoughts before listening: Female led, dream pop indie rock. I remember this band being a big deal when this album came out, but I never gave it a listen. Seemed like it wouldn't be for me. However, I recently heard a song of theirs that I really enjoyed, so I'm excited to try this out. Review: Man, I can't believe I have been sleeping on this band for so long. This is really nice. Definitely moody and slow at times, but the instrumentation is great. This reminds me a bit of other bands I enjoy from the same era such as Fleet Foxes. I am glad to have been "forced" to listen to this album. 4-stars

fantastic dream pop record

Better than your average indie rock, with a couple of songs that fall flat. Overall it's a neat listen that reminds you of being a teenager, and the songs have the drama of a movie soundtrack. Not too shabby.

I first heard this album a couple years back and it really caught me off guard. I'd never heard of this band despite Beach House being around for nearly two decades at that point, but this album was really the jumping off point for them, and really carries on the dream pop legacy dominated by acts like Cocteau Twins, Slowdive, and a multitude of other great acts. What's important, though, is it modernizes the sound not to be derivative of these acts, but rather, take little bits and pieces and give them a 2010s pop coat of paint. Great, strong vocal patterns, big, sweeping movements, and a sense of melancholia that cannot be beat. While I think the duo still had room to grow after this album, as some tracks can read similar to the last, this is still a great album where you could tell they were really becoming their own thing, artistically, and it is a treat to know they are still making music today, just as strong as ever.

Dream pop is dreamy. Honestly, this was a very enjoyable album (especially compared to a lot of the other suggestions I've been getting on here as of late). Ambient, sweet and well written. Fav tracks: Norway, Lover of Mine, Real Love

I really love the Fleet Foxes who always give me the feeling of walking through a grass meadow on a warm summer day, next to a babbling brook, everything in soft focus, dandelion seeds and pollen dust floating in the suns rays - get the picture? This has the same vibe. Second day on the trot the list has done its stuff and given me an unknown gem. Certainly an album put on my list to buy and to research their other albums. Lovely, warm and gives a yearning for those wonderful summer days past. 4/5 2/10/24

I’m just a sucker for these dreamy vocals. The whole album feels like I’m in some sleep word and that’s a good thing! Saw them live once and they put on a great show. 4/5

This is a dream, hazy escape. It's like a warm summer day, where everything feels a little slow and a little sweet. Beach House's music has a way of washing over you, and this album is no exception. It's perfect for a lazy afternoon or a late-night drive.

Dit trucje horen we bijvoorbeeld terug in 'Silver Soul', 'Walk In The Park' en 'Take Care'. 8/10 Highlights: Zebra Walk in the Park 10 Mile Stereo Take Care

Nice vibe, holds up well for 2010

Not bad! I was burned out on indie for a long time but I think I'm coming back around because I didn't mind this. I could see myself listening to this again.

This is an odd choice - I would've said Depression Cherry but I really enjoyed this. My favourite thing about Beach House and Dreampop in general is how everything merges together - it's not so much a collection of tracks but one complete THING. Throughout this I've been really focussed on openers and closers - but this time I just enjoyed the whole exprience. Listening: Guess where? AT THE SKATEPARK Favourite Track: The whole goddamn thing

Day 44 (album 2) - September 16th, 2024 Originally generated - September 12th, 2024 Slow, dreamy, and something enjoyable for background music. 4/5

didn't expect to like it as much as I did

This is one of those bands I could listen to in the background for a while. Really chill fun and enjoyable music.

I think this is one of the best albums, the music has been sampled for great songs and the sound and vibe is great!

This gives me Florence and the Machine vibes which is a great thing. Really beautiful vocals, the whole production has a bit of a dreamlike quality to it. Better Times in particular. It is a little too soft and melancholy for me the longer it goes, but thats just personal preference. I'm sure listening in a different settintlg would help.

Beach House always has this beautifully ethereal sound on their albums, and this is no exception, even if it a bit "generic 2010s indie" in retrospect. 4.5 down to 4.

Super dreamy and airy. Loved a few of the lesser relevant tunes - norway and walk in the park. Never heard of these guys 🤷‍♂️

Remember really loving this album when it came in college, listened to it a ton on the pre-Spotify streaming platform Grooveshark. Thought it would be an easy 5, but just found it a lot more boring than I remember. Kind of crazy that this album is on this list but not a single Vampire Weekend album made it. Still love the band and their sound.

I should have listened to this when it came out, but I quite like it, wouldn't be against listening again

This album takes me back to a very specific time in my life. 4 starts right now but 5 when I'm feeling more nostalgic

They all the same, yet, are all great.

The first few songs I thought it was pretty chill but nothing special but then really got into it as it went on

Like a teenage dream! Not quite 5 stars as it’s not wall to wall bangers but some great tunes in there and a good vibe.

I really enjoyed this album! Great vibes and it was perfect for a rainy day. Added a couple songs to my library that I didn’t have before and will probably check out more of their discography.

I liked the dream pop vibe of this album. It's something that's right up my ally, but I feel like there are better versions of it. It got a little repetitive towards the end, but overall very enjoyable.

Really enjoyed this as well! I’m more familiar with Depression Cherry but this is as good as that one. Beach House is another band I take for granted, will probably be on a bit of a kick now.

Never heard of Beach House before. I suppose that's the beauty of 1,001... listening to albums that I never would have. Enjoyed Zebra, the opening track - really nice sound. Norway - excellent 10 mile stereo - excellent Overall, a nice find. A very enjoyable album. 4 stars 😎

Ich mag solche Klänge und Musik

On the nose given the album name, but this album really was dreamy. I love songs that make me feel like I'm floating.

Nice dreamy soundscape

Great!

Loved this. Love the dream pop / shoegaze sound of this album. It got a bit repetitive after a while, but easy listening. Favourite tracks were probably the first and last tracks

Whattya call this? Easy listening? Nice music, makes sense for summer.

Smooth jams, I like it!

Mellow. I liked it

Hard to find bag things to say about Beach House. Their style of pop is so light and breezy like a cloud on a summer's day. Just lovely.

beachy

I remember walking down La Cienaga around 2010, 2011 during a Fashion Week block party and seeing these two jamming this album in front of some store. Cut to 2023 watching them play the same album at the Greek. Good stuff.

Sure, maybe it's very same-y throughout, all the songs are a similar tempo and style. But everything here is like a warm hug around your ears. Beautiful voice and melodies throughout, if it gets you in the right mood this would be just perfect.

New to me, I expect it feels a bit more comfortable after a few runs but I enjoyed the playful use of melodies in the song writing and thought the sound was pleasant overall.

Super nostalgic album from the year I moved to Brooklyn. Still sounds how I remember it.

riktigt najs dream pop. fett najs med bajs

I find myself rediscovering Beach House every few years. I always find this album moves me and soothes me, and give it a couple of turns on repeat. For some reason they always make me think of Scandinavia.

Oh, nice start to the week. Great to find this on here. 4.5 🌟

I enjoyed this.

Teen Dream is a well-composed, dreamy album that's nice to throw on when you want to just kick back and chill. Lots of soft, intimate melodies but can sound grand at the same time.

Dreamy dreams

Good listen makes me maybe wanna listen to more of their albums.

An enjoyable reminder of the music that was pervasive in the 2010's. I enjoyed it. Don't have too much more to say on the matter.

Liked very much. I am occasionally in the mood for this type of music. Good background music.

Very enjoyable album. Both the production and the vocals were excellent.

At first I thought I was getting a Beach Boys album. I loved this album, didn’t expect to enjoy this sound from 20 years ago. Magical.

Fantastic album with a great chill vibe

I'm a bit biased since I like Beach House so much. This isn't my favorite album of theirs, but I really do enjoy it.

Such a step up from their previous albums. It feels like one very long song. Not sure if this is my favorite beach house but has to be up there. Rating: 4.5

This is a good album. I didn’t know I’d be into this type of dream pop or shoegaze, but I’d say I am. Victoria Legrand’s vocals just make me feel like I’m floating, and everything is very Cocteau-Twins-ish (from what I’ve heard of Cocteau Twins’ songs). This album definitely has a lot of strong suits: “10 Mile Stereo”’s metaphor of a heart represented by a rock, “Used to Be” and its almost folky sounding instrumental, and the sneak disses on material wealth with “Norway”. This album definitely deserves a 91% and a 4.55/5.

Kaunis levy ja tätä on pyöritelty. Kylmät väreet iskee parhaista biiseistä. Ehkä hieman junnaavaksi menee loppua kohti, niin jää vitonen antamatta. 4/5

Nice! Very chilled

This is great music for me to mope around to. None of the songs are duds, but as a listening to the entire album several times through it is a lot.

8/10 - I think calling a zebra a black and white horse pretty funny. The songs sound similar but I like the vibe quite a bit and there was enough difference to find songs that I liked. Take Care was fantastic

Enjoyed the chill vibe, some interested music stuff and the guy had a good voice 8/10

I liked this more than I should have. I know it's not the most complex, intricate music, but the dreamy feel was really quite perfect at times. Even though plenty of music of this genre makes me cringe I enjoyed this

This is nice

Quite Nice!

Silver Soul // Norway // Walk In The Park // Better Times // Take Care

silver soul

Take Care, Silver Soul. Solid indie album.

Great album, especially when you’re chillin’ on vacation or in just the right mood. Been a Beach House fan for years.

Love to see this on the list. Super dreamy album indeed, great sonically and flows so well from start to finish.

A very tasty mix of Coldplay and Bondax.

This was a nice detour into something more modern. I really enjoyed this. Was surprised how many songs I could recognize while also knowing I’ve never listened to this album, at least, not all the way through. There wasn’t as much range as there could have been. The vocals were just what was needed in every song. The production, writing, and lyrics were all great. Downright decent. 4/5

Very solid light and happy vibes I thoroughly enjoyed
