this should be the type of stuff that on paper i should like. in reality its not very often i like american indie music. its generally like this album, bland, twee and made for adverts.

Boring. Best track: Zebra
I heard music. Wasn't aware of it.
I'd confess to anything to make this stop. When I set out on this project, I promised myself I'd listen to every album in its entirety. Thanks to collections of sound like this, I have broken that promise several times. I lasted under 3 tracks - on the third one they'd discovered the reverb knob on their synthesiser/computer program and were wriggling it backwards and forwards to particularly torturous effect. Just say no.
Hipsters are gay/5 Ah yesss, music for people who want to be different for the sake of being different. In other words: hipsters. These sounds remind me a lot of someone who constantly annoyed me about being vegan, that guacamole is the best dish in the world and went to the gym almost every day. All in the name of 'self improvement'. Music for people who are super activist when they get out of school and tape themselves on the streets to fight pollution, just to not realize that they accelerate the issue. I call bs on this music being considered 'good'. It's always been bland and superficial stuff for people who didn't know better, trying to orientate themselves when entering Uni, or totally overestimating their intellect and impact. This music reminds me of all of that, of the time between 2012-2015 when 95% people my age tried to stick out. But if you're swimming with a crowd of hipsters, you're not the hipster - you're the crowd. This album is the epiphany of that. It's boring, says nothing and makes people think that it has more to offer than what's visible, except it doesn't.
Ugh, so dull. Not sure I'd ever want to meet the Teens who have Dreams as anodyne as this whiny lo-fi crap
Never heard of them before this, never will again. Pish, which should never be in this list, or in end of year top album lists. Not one song I liked, or would be happy to hear again. Rubbish
Did not like...not sure why. Reminded me of rejected songs from the Forrest Gump soundtrack for some reason.
Nice dreamy sound. Hypnotic
Очень клевооо. Знаю оттуда пару песен, просто хороший шугейз, дримпоп)
I really liked this. Dreamy and melodic.
I reaaaaally liked this album. It was made the year I was born so i also felt somehow connected to it and it was just nice to listen to. I will give 5/5 couse there s no so many albums that i actually like in here.
Perennial favorite.
Personally my pick would always be Depression Cherry but I'm open for anything from the definitive dream pop band of the 21st century
Always love a good excuse to give this a relisten
This album has been very special to me for a VERY long time. I've had many a late night drives in my first car to 'Take Care', with a few manly tears being shed. Incredible album, I don't even need to listen to it this round, since I've listened to this album probably 50 times.
Been one of my goats for a while and this is one of if not their best album
I've been on a big Beach House kick recently, so this was perfect timing! While this isn't my favorite Beach House record, it still exemplifies why I love this band so much. It's just hard to find current bands who make dream pop like this so well! I'm not really sure what makes these songs (and Beach House's music in general) so beautiful, but I really just love Victoria's haunting voice and the lush, shimmering instrumentals behind it. Everything just melds together in such a satisfying way. Anyways, I can't wait for them to come back with new material, whenever they do. Also, shoutout to my 4th-grade science teacher who introduced me to them (with 10 Mile Stereo, in fact!). Favorites: Zebra, Norway, Walk in the Park, 10 Mile Stereo, Take Care
I'm old enough to remember being disappointed when this came out because I was sad Beach House was abandoning their lo-fi bedroom pop sound for something more polished. I'm pretty stupid sometimes. This IS a bit of a transitional record, with the band working their way to the more cinematic, widescreen dream pop they would perfect in Bloom. Still great, though. Look, are there bands and records not on this list that I would put before Beach House? Yes. But are there other bands I would take off this list before I took off Beach House? Also yes. This is a lot of words to say, I love this band, I love this record, five stars.
Soft, dreamy pop that I really enjoyed.
This is the kind of music that seems to assure its listeners that there are other intangible, ethereal wondrous worlds out there beyond our physical comprehension.
Che bomba, è il chill completo, la riflessione
I instinctively grabbed a tissue during "Take Care", so what do you think?
I like dream pop, I’ve learned.
I really enjoyed this! A lot of these tracks make it into my general moody/sad/indie autoplays but it was quite a joy to listen it to properly in full. This is truly a bit of me, base level me, a meloncholy indie listen that I think is fun for all.
What a nice surprise! Didn't think this would be on here but it's a classic imo, incredibly nice and lovely vibes thank u so much. I was very very very into this as a melancholy 16 y/o and it's still doing the business as a melancholy 32 y/o too
Ahh this takes me back to every house party I attended in the summer of 2010. Perfect music for 17 year olds drinking white wine and entirely unaware that the future is knocking. Unable and unwilling to be objective.
Blissful!
literally screamed when i saw that this album was on here. love it!
This band just makes me feel things. An incredible sort of nostalgia for a time I should be living right now, rather than times past. I love how evoking this album is of a lazy summer afternoon, it just feels so cozy and comforting. Of course atmosphere is important for a Dream Pop album, but the songwriting doesn't leave anything to be desired. There are little hooks all over that reveal themselves over several listens. Without noticing, they just sneak up on you. Beach House are often levied the accusation of making the same album over and over again, like AC/DC. But I don't think that's true at all. While their first two albums sound pretty alike, this was were they leveled up as band in terms of production value to produce the final form of that early sound. After this they've only evolved even further, whether it be the nighttime counterpart to this album, Bloom, or the even dreamier and artsier Depression Cherry. Later we got 7 and the sprawling double album Once Twice Melody, which see the band operating at the peak of their creative powers, expanding their sound palette into both rockier and poppier territories, including some great inclusion of subtle electronic elements. I highly recommend all of four of these albums as well. Key tracks: Zebra Norway Walk in the Park Used to Be Take Care
Excellent
Absolutely fantastic
This is sooo dreamy and soooo poppy....
Because my heart stands for nothing and your soul's too weak
One of the most beautiful musical experiences of XXI century
This is pure Laura jam
gmerto miyvars beach house
I actually unexpectedly loved this? It had that luscious emotive quality that I associate with Gang of Youths and Foals. Definitely will be coming back to this one.
I really enjoy this
Norway is incredible
Just so perfect and dreamy. Dream pop perfection
wavyyy
beach house yay
Loved this album, it was great weekend vibes with the family. Doing crafts making crayons for Valentine's day
I love Beach House - just beautiful music. This isn't my favorite album of theirs (that would be Depression Cherry), but it's still awesome.
Amazing album. Previously listened to Depression Cherry and thought it was ok but nothing special. This album is something special
I have never listened to Beach House before. This was an incredible surprise. Great album
Very good
One of the albums of the decade for sure. Very cohesive and back to back really strong tracks. Beak house at the peak of their powers. Very emotive and take care is a fantastic ending. Have a very fond memory of listening to this album outside on a warm summer evening drinking aperol sprizes as the sun set.
Can't possibly give this an unbiased review. This album will always hold a special place in my heart with the number of times I listened to it with Desmond when he was first born. For a while there Zebra was the song that I sang to him every time I put him down to sleep. And even with the tension of that environment I still love the song and this album as a whole. Such a dreamy and wonderful ride. I get sucked in each time that I take a single step into Zebra. For me this is the Beach House album that gets the most play. The songs have a beautiful, shimmering quality about them. And (at least for me) I find this to be some of their best lyrical work. My favorites are Zebra (obvs), Walk in the Park, Silver Soul, and Norway. But I have a huge amount of love for 10 Mile Stereo and the warmth of the closer Take Care. I always come away from this album feeling better about the world. Unquestionable 5 / 5.
I love Beach House and Teen Dream! Shoutout Bmore! They are the epitome of dream pop for me. They're one of those bands that on the surface it's nothing special, but the layers and textures in their songs are incredible. Found them at Roo 2013 and haven't turned back. Pretty much every song on here is beautiful to me. Standouts are Silver Soul (sampled by Kendrick on Money Trees), Walk In the Park, 10 Mile Stereo, and Take Care. My kinda vibey album. Wish Bloom was on here too as those are their best 2.
Absolutely fantastic album - still distinctly remember first listening to it during an a level maths class. Close call between this and their next album, Bloom, for my favourite.
Ethereal, layered perfectly, never a flat moment. A perfect front-to-back dream-pop album. Beach House can make a legitimate claim for best run of albums of the 2010s, and this kicked it off. Songs added to the playlist: Zebra Norway Walk In the Park Used to Be Better Times 10 Mile Stereo Real Love Take Care
kinda calm
I really liked this one, simple and enjoyable, and beautifully eerie at times.
Very chill vibe, would love to listen to it on a hike in Maine or on the east coast somewhere
Classic Beach House. Will I prefer the next album slightly more, this one is great as well. 4.5/5
This album reminds me of graduating college and trying to figure out my life. I travelled to see them in SoCal once. Love beach house to an uncomfortable degree.
Un disco que seguro espera. En la primera escucha, citando a una criptonita de todo hijo beach boy, hasta las canciones felices son tristes. Disfruté las más luminosas "Used to be" y "Lover of mine". Suena lindo.
The five song run at the beginning…transcendent. Long time comfort album, it just sounds sooooo good
Loved the dreamy atmosphere on this one, a really good record from start to end.
i'm a casual listener and liker of beach house, though my experience with them had previously been limited to bloom and depression cherry - those were the only two albums i wound up listening to when i was introduced to them as a teenager. they were one of those bands - when i was listening to A LOT of new music through pandora and youtube - where i liked their sound and put them on my ever-growing to-do list of discography deep-dives (you know, to make sure that i REALLY, AUTHENTICALLY, liked them, or whatever). and, just writing that out made me feel the sudden weight of a bunch of needless work - so it's no wonder that i never really got back around to revisiting these bands when i made listening to them this whole big chore. i feel justified to indulgently label beach house as one of the bands that "got away." suffice to say, it was interesting to learn that many consider this to be their ""best"" work (or, at the very least, coming in at #2 or #3 in overall ranking). i don't feel like i necessarily disagree with this pick for 1001, though: i still have preference for bloom and depression cherry (if i had to pick, i would sub out this album for the sweeping vistas of bloom). not that it's that big of a deal - beach house has amazing songs on all their albums and it's a treat to listen to them. glad i had a reason to revisit and enjoy beach house again after all these years!! highlights - zebra, silver soul, norway, used to be, lover of mine, 10 mile stereo, real love, take care
Depression Cherry has been a really important album to me for a while now. Me and my boyfriend loved it since the first time we listened to it, I have it on vinyl, the whole thing. I'd honestly say that this is pretty close to Depression Cherry quality-wise, even if it doesn't have the same emotional connection for me. Beach House really knows how to consistently hit that really depressing kind of dream pop sound in a way that nobody else from the genre can.
This is an easy 5 for me - IMO no one produces a better, more complete aural atmosphere with their music than BH. Concerts are performed in near total darkness and completely enveloping. Norway hooked me; others like 10 Mile Stereo with its 5-minute build to soaring climax keep me here. Bloom is the better album but this warrants top score. 5/5
Wow that was a treat
The overall vibes of this album hit me just right. Amazing.
I have a medium amount of nostalgia for this record. In the early 2010’s when I started my career and living out on my own, this album was on my rotation, especially in the summer while I relaxed by the pool. It’s a gorgeous album, and is probably on the shortlist of albums I think about as being “ethereal”. It’s hard to find any fault in it other than it always serves best as background music for me. Even with that it’s kind of perfect for it. It’s also a perfect album to melt into relaxation to. I started writing this sure I was giving it 4 stars, but as I started writing about it I’ve realized it’s pretty much the definition of a 5 star album.
August 18, 2025 Album #718: Teen Dream by Beach House Genre: Dream Pop Oh my gosh. I’m not sure what I was expecting when I first approached this record, but it really floored me. *Teen Dream* really just took me away while I was listening to it, every track here is oozing with this dreamy vibe and atmosphere that I absolutely adore. The spacey instrumentation is drenched in a healthy dose of reverb. It’s produced well and is reminiscent of Shoegaze at points. It just feels so lush. This album’s sound makes me feel like I’m floating through space sometimes. Though, the hazy instrumentation is paired amazingly well with Victoria Legrand’s distant vocals, she sounds ethereal and does great. Her lyricism feels very heartfelt and intimate as well. It really helps build the vibe that Beach House is trying to achieve. This album is very consistent because of this, there’s no track that I didn’t like or thought was lesser. The quiet and fuzzy electric guitar on *Silver Soul* is an awesome add on, the ethereal soundscape of *Walk In The Park* is so majestic, the synths of *Lover of Mine* are catchy, the emotionality of *Real Love* feels so intimate, it’s all so good. *Teen Dream* was right up my alley. It really swept me away, I can’t believe I haven’t heard it until now. Its textured production and melancholic lyrics make for a good experience. I really recommend giving this a listen. *Teen Dream* is a dream pop staple and a modern classic that I really enjoyed. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, Decent 9 Favorite Tracks: Zebra, Silver Soul, Norway, Walk In The Park, Used to Be, Lover of Mine, Better Times, 10 Mile Stereo, Real Love, Take Care
Chill rock album.
4.6
The perfect grandiose dream indie pop to spark of revolution; the best album of the 2000s.
This was pretty damn good.
Nostalgia from my early teen years, amazing chill electronica
this was entrancing, beautiful album, would 100% go back to it, would recommend to many people, modern classic
2010. Maryland. Dream pop, shoegaze. !!!!!
Amazing, surf rock vibes with a twist of trip hop, listened to it twice in one day after discovering
This is one of my favorite albums by one of my favorite bands. I listen to this endlessly and I will to the day I die.
Atmospheric and so beautiful
One of my all time Favorites
I’ve heard a lot about this band and faintly remember listening to them ages ago. I remember them as part of the early oughts shoegaze revival which was awesome but I never delved into them. This album is unavailable on Spotify. Huh. Listening on bandcamp. This is incredible. Wouldn't call it shoegaze, more dreampop I guess. It does have this meditative aspect shoegaze often has, but it's not walls of guitar noise, it's repetitive vocals or beats or guitars (and sometimes I think I even heard a banjo) that create this wall of... something. It's great. I don't know if it's the band's name but it does feel more "sunny" than shoegaze or other dreampop which is often "rainy". Maybe it's just the name. Anyway, otherworldy vocals, beautiful repetitive (in the best sense of the world) arrangements. Very cool. Love it. Would spend some more time with their discography now. Five stars as a great album in general and also as a great example of this new generation of bands who got inspired by Slowdive and their ilk.
Einigi zemlech gueti Lieder. S ganze albom voller Guete Melodie. Mues mer sech merke
Love Beach House
The album that introduced me to Beach House!
Beautiful from start to finish, although admittedly it peaks early with Zebra and Silver Soul. My favorite Beach House album, and they're the best dream pop band I know, so this gets a 5 from me. A lot of the negative reviews seem to be from people wanting immediate gratification; the album cover lets you know exactly what to expect - you have to go looking for the beauty a little bit, but once you find it you can't believe it was ever less than obvious.
amazing loved every song except 1
Perfection! I could literally sleep to this, coincidentally, I have many times!
Nostalgia in full force here. 2nd favorite beach house album, but front to back this is a wonderful, mesmerizing experience from the duo and I can always rely on it. Songs work well alone, even better in the context of the LP. An all time favorite 🤩
Love Beach House, which is strange because I can totally see the shoegaze influence they draw upon, and I despised my blood valentine and Jesus and the Mary Chain. I think the main difference is that this dream pop uses much more pleasant sounds tban distortion to generate their trance vibes, which I enjoy so much more. I knew a lot of this coming in, but skme was still new. Of the new ones for me, my favorite was probably Lover of Mine, but this whole album works for me.
Possibly perfect dream pop. Not shoegaze but gauzy. Detached, floating and slightly medicated. A cool and pleasant hum gently dampened by restraint. Longing, waiting, a sigh.
Zebra
Where has this been all my life? This album grabbed me right off the top and kept me listening. Walk in the Park was just one of the highlights. New to me, but I expect to go back to this band in the future. This is Dream Pop and I don't want to wake up.
Amazing
Something about this album really struck a chord with me - I finished listening and immediately hit replay. It's the perfect soundtrack to a cloudy day. "Silver Soul" was the standout track.
solid album. big fan.
mmmmh was für es timing wie so oft nach eme füechtfröhliche wuchenend han ich au vorgester müesse mini ghörmuskle entspanne… das passiert meistens in form vo dream pop und no spezifischer gseid in form vo mazzy star, cocteau twins, cigarettes after sex oder ebe beach house demnach isch das gester wüki en wahri freud gsi! en reis voller alte bekannte und neue fründe <3 fazit: wüsst nöd öb‘s überhaupt ih minere top 3 beach house albe isch aber nichtsdestotrotz nimm ich en hypothek für 5 malibu beachfront mansions uf
beach house ❤️❤️❤️ i was so excited to see this one on here, even if it wouldn't be my personal pick of theirs (DEVOTION, anyone?). perfect dreampop. yeah it kind of all sounds the same but that sound is SO good!
Really good beach house album which means it's a magnificent dream pop experience
When it comes to modern dream pop, Beach House is essentially the go-to artist, and Teen Dream is definitely one of their finer albums. Every song on here feels quaint but also lush. I do admittedly prefer some of their other albums (namely Bloom and s/t), but this is still a great place to start if you're looking to get into Beach House. Mid 9
Where has this album been my whole life? I haven't listened to many 2010s albums for this project yet, but this Beach House album has easily become one of my favorites of the decade. Everything about Teen Dream just works. The atmosphere and sound are excellent. The general tone of the album is kind of hard to explain, but I love it. It's quite nostalgic. I guess the best way to put it is "dreamy," which is fitting as this is considered a dream pop album. I don't know what that means, but I like it. Teen Dream also has some shoegaze elements that I really like as well. Shoegaze has really grown on me over the course of this project. The singing is solid. There are other parts of the album I like more, but the singing is still quite good. The writing is wonderful. I love the emotion on this album. This is just such a pleasant album. There's better albums, sure. But there's something about this album that just speaks to me. Maybe it has something to do with my current emotional state. Who knows? All I know is that I love this album. Light 5/5.
I've admired Beach House and their dreamy, ethereal music for a while now, but had yet to listen to a complete album. I can say that I don't think this is a perfect album, but I did find it very enjoyable and it works very well as a cohesive body. Favorite track: "Walk In The Park."
Their best album, also one of my favourites of all time
Another record that tween me really loved. My entry way into dream pop/shoegaze. Still very good. Definitely belongs on this list and easily one of the best albums of that decade. The last two tracks drag on a bit and aren't as strong as the rest of it, but about as close to perfect as you can get.
Rating: 9.5/10 Feels like you're floating in the clouds. Gorgeous and blissful with lush instrumentation and pristine production. One of the best albums of the 2010s. Favorite songs: pretty much all of them. Least favorite song: Norway.
Chill as fuck
Ah, so dreamy. I just love the feel and flow, the whole vibe. A favourite of mine for a long time has been Norway. I look forward to exploring more.
An easy 5 stars - I love this album. Sublimely dreamy stuff. I see a bunch of people giving 1 star views and, frankly, I suspect those people were born without human souls. Fave tracks - "Zebra" is possibly my fave Beach House track from any album. "Used to Be" and "Take Care" are both wonderful, too.
Beach House makes me feel like I’m floating through time on a cloud like a young Goku. It reminds me that was once a Teen with a Dream and there’s something very beautiful about it. Every song sounds the same but still has its own identity. I love this project!
Felt like a mix between Flaming Lips and Of Monsters and Men. Really enjoyed it.
9/10 Highlights Zebra Silver Soul 10 Mile Stereo Take Care
Beach House is a band that is often remembered for their album Depression Cherry, however, there is always more to a band than it may seem. Teen Dream, their third album, is heavily overlooked. So relaxing, so dreamy, so hauntingly beautiful, yet so emotional. The songs flow into each other like honey. Each track is sweet with nostalgia and leaves a bitter after taste of longing for what you've lost. The first track, Zebra, reminds me of what it's like when life is moving all around you, yet you want to stay in the moment. There's nothing you can do but watch. Teen Dream deserves a spot in the top 1001 albums list and I'm glad it is here. An album this great is worth all the listens. Favorite song: Zebra
Lush sounds, slow paced yet manages to keep my attention. Nothing bad to say about it.
The Beach House is infested with sneaky little earworms that will make a home in your head as you sleep peacefully on warm pillows of sound. The colorful chords and glittery guitars will ensure your dreams are delightful. I discovered this album eight years late, but upon a few early listens, it swiftly took first place among my favorite records of its decade.
LOVE me some Beach House. This and Bloom are my favorite albums of theirs so it’s a no brainer to give this 5 stars. Her voice is beautiful. Zebra is a standout song and a great way to start the album
Dream pop from 2010, the age I was living in a cave. Or think so. I like it. Need to investigate more.
A true 4.5 stars but I’ve given a lot of bad reviews recently so will balance out with being generous here. This is such a consistent album, sound is completely unique and taken in a vacuum outside of the broader Beach House discography, it’s perfect. Their albums are all kind of the same but this is a good representation.
Never heard the term “dream pop” before but it fits well! Really enjoyed this one, super chill. Fun play with time signatures, made things more interesting. 4.5/5
Firstly I forgot how amazing this album is. Secondly this one played a big part in forming my music taste very early on so I have to give it a 5 even if the second half is a little less perfect than the first tracks
I saw Beach House live the year that this album came out. I'm a huge sub pop fan, and this style is right in my sweet spot. I listened to this frequently when it was new, but hadn't for a few years. It still sounds great to my ear.
relisten. One of my comfort albums
This is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. MORE LIKE THIS
Dream pop perfection.
Potentially one of the albums I have listened to most in my life. This came out my Junior year of college, while I was unironically hosting a radio show and trying to get everyone I knew to listen to my playlists. There's something so warm and gooey about Teen Dream. It fully envelopes you, holding you close, making you daydream. I wouldn't be my self if I didn't give it a perfect score. 5/5
Beach House knows how to make gorgeous music and Teen Dream is peak beauty the Baltimore grown band. It doesn’t get much better than Legrand’s vocals, she delivers such a strong performance on Teen Dream. Between this and Bloom, it’s difficult to choose but either could easily stand as the best dream pop album of the the past 30yrs. So good 5 stars
I am a gigantic fan of dream pop/shoegaze stuff. I’m honestly upset with myself that I’ve never listened to Beach House til now. This was amazing.
beach house <333
I loved the floaty feel of this album! Out of all the albums so far that were completely new to me, I think this one might be my favorite. Great, relaxing songs, and easy to listen to vocals.
I really liked this, although I don't think I would listen to it all in one go again
I didn’t listen to this for a few years which is crazy cause it’s one of the best ever. Her voice is unreal.
It's a great album by a band I've never heard of before. Please, more of this instead of average music from well-known bands! Excellent.
**Album Review: Teen Dream by Beach House** **Introduction:** Released in 2010, "Teen Dream" marked a pivotal moment for Beach House, solidifying their position as one of indie music's most captivating acts. With its dreamy atmospheres, lush instrumentation, and haunting vocals, the album showcased Beach House at the peak of their creative powers. In this review, we'll delve into the album's lyrics, music, production, themes, and influence, while also exploring its strengths and weaknesses. **Lyrics:** Lyrically, "Teen Dream" navigates themes of love, longing, and introspection. Victoria Legrand's evocative lyrics are often shrouded in ambiguity, inviting listeners to interpret their own meanings. Tracks like "Zebra" and "Norway" paint vivid, poetic imagery, while songs like "10 Mile Stereo" and "Silver Soul" explore the complexities of relationships. The introspective nature of the lyrics adds depth to the album, drawing listeners into its ethereal world. **Music:** Musically, "Teen Dream" is a mesmerizing blend of dream pop, shoegaze, and indie rock. Alex Scally's intricate guitar work and Legrand's hypnotic keyboard melodies create a sonic landscape that is both lush and immersive. The album's arrangements are carefully crafted, with each instrument serving a specific purpose in building atmosphere and mood. Tracks like "Walk in the Park" and "Used to Be" showcase Beach House's ability to craft melodies that are simultaneously melancholic and euphoric, leaving a lasting impression on the listener. **Production:** The production on "Teen Dream" is impeccable, thanks in part to the collaboration between Beach House and producer Chris Coady. The album's sound is rich and textured, with layers of instrumentation blending seamlessly to create a cohesive whole. Coady's deft touch enhances the album's ethereal quality, allowing each song to shimmer and sparkle with an otherworldly glow. From the hazy reverb of "Better Times" to the shimmering synths of "Lover of Mine," the production elevates the album to new heights, capturing the essence of Beach House's sonic vision. **Themes:** Thematically, "Teen Dream" explores the bittersweet nature of youth, love, and longing. The album's title itself evokes a sense of nostalgia and innocence, harkening back to a time of fleeting dreams and endless possibilities. Songs like "Real Love" and "Take Care" delve into the complexities of romantic relationships, while tracks like "Used to Be" and "Take Care" reflect on the passage of time and the inevitability of change. Throughout the album, Beach House deftly captures the transient beauty of youth, inviting listeners to reflect on their own experiences of love and loss. **Influence:** "Teen Dream" has had a significant influence on the indie music landscape, inspiring a new generation of artists with its lush soundscapes and emotive songwriting. The album's dreamy atmospheres and ethereal melodies have been echoed in the work of artists such as Lana Del Rey, Lorde, and Cigarettes After Sex, who have drawn upon Beach House's sonic palette to create their own unique sound. "Teen Dream" remains a touchstone for indie pop music, its influence continuing to resonate with listeners and musicians alike. **Pros:** 1. Captivating lyrics that evoke a sense of introspection and emotion. 2. Lush instrumentation and intricate arrangements that create a mesmerizing sonic landscape. 3. Impeccable production that enhances the album's ethereal quality. 4. Themes of love, longing, and nostalgia that resonate with listeners on a deep emotional level. 5. Significant influence on the indie music landscape, inspiring a new generation of artists. **Cons:** 1. Some may find the album's dreamy atmospheres and languid pacing to be overly subdued. 2. The ambiguity of the lyrics may be off-putting to some listeners who prefer more straightforward storytelling. 3. While the production is impeccable, some may find it to be somewhat formulaic, lacking in innovation or experimentation. 4. The album's themes of youth and nostalgia may feel somewhat clichéd or overly sentimental to some listeners. 5. The album's pacing can feel somewhat monotonous at times, with few dynamic shifts or surprises to keep the listener engaged. In conclusion, "Teen Dream" stands as a timeless masterpiece, showcasing Beach House at the peak of their creative powers. With its captivating lyrics, lush instrumentation, and ethereal production, the album invites listeners on a journey of introspection and emotion, exploring themes of love, longing, and nostalgia. While it may have its flaws, "Teen Dream" remains a touchstone for indie pop music, its influence continuing to resonate with listeners and musicians alike, cementing its status as a modern classic.
This was a pleasantly delightful listen
Any album with silver soul and take care is 5/5 regardless of the other tracks
A chill album that's pretty good. I was impressed when I heard Beach House's "Space Song" on "Depression Cherry". Like that song, "Teen Dream" is a fantastic masterpiece. The vocals are awesome and fit with the tone of the album. I seem to keep getting recommended great records like this.
yayy beach house haldern memories
Great album. Listened to it a lot. Went to concert in 2010 and it was great
Yeah I loved this 9/10
I’m a beach house enjoyer. None of their music does anything too crazy and it all sounds pretty similar, but I like how calming and pleasant their sound is. 9/10
A wonderful gift that I didn't know about ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was so ridiculously up my street, it's completely unfathomable that I didn't know it better already. Its sound is so pure, so emotive and very, very creative. It reminded me quite a bit of Veckatamist, by Grizzly Bear, that must have come out at the same time, but was definitely better. One of the finds of the project so far for me, and something I'll listen to again and again and again.
i always come back to beach house in times like these when i am nostalgic/grieving things in my life. was very happy to see this amazing album here. talk about beauty in music and u have to talk about beach house. this album and this group means so much to me,, i've been listening to their stuff since i was 12. how can a melodramatic teenager not fall in love with their pearly synths, victoria legrand's luminous voice, the lush drums and alex scally's shimmering guitar. i don't listen to a lot of the dream pop and shoegaze that i was really into in middle school, but beach house persists because their music is persistent- this album has not aged at all in 14 years and i think i will be listening to it 10 years from now as well. makes me think of playing in the evening along the sandy river, walking barefoot on the road under the midnight sun, dancing alone in my bedroom. 9/10, fav tracks: zebra, silver soul, walk in the park, norway, take care
A Zebra 4 Silver Soul 5 Norway 5 Walk In The Park 5 Used To Be 5 Lover Of Mine 3 Better Times 5 10 Mile Stereo 3 Real Love 5 Take Care 4 Baby 5 I love Beach House, but I always preferred Bloom and Depression Cherry over this. However, this surprised me by being a 5. I wonder how those two others would fare with a rating.
Brings me back. Perfect for lying on a beach or staying inside as the snow falls. Still holds up.
It's like eating cotton candy in musical form. This is the 2010 versions of dream-pop and I think that is what makes it a must-hear. I understand how this music can just seem in the background and there is a "sameness" of sound, but these grow on you. This is one of my favorite dream-pop albums and the first six songs are absolutely grand with "Take Care" ending the album off on a strong note. Come on, the synth on "Walk in the Park" is just a great sound. The whole album is like sleeping on a cloud while happy sounds cover up the sad lyrics behind the music. I really like Beach House and this album is the reason why. Probably one of my favorite albums of the 2000's.
Could be because I’ve listened to this album a ton already. Or maybe because it is hitting all the right notes for me. This is a staple of the dream pop genre.
Gorgeous
chill
Love the dreamy, mellow vibe on this thing, and the spacy reverby guitar hooks and keys. The lead singer's voice perfectly complements the instrumentals and the mood. A lot of great songs on here, and I totally get why this band blew up after this now.
Really liked this one.
This is extremely my shit.
Love this property dream pop
I remember when this came out, it received a lot of accolades so I checked it out. I did not care for it at the time. this is a testament to giving things another go. I thought this album was just not for me, turns out I just wasn’t ready for it back then. This album was fantastic! I will definitely be returning to it.
This album has really grown on me over the years. Even though dream pop isn't really my thing each song is unique in its own way, keeping the album fresh all the way through.
first time listening have heard silver soul
Album #4 Beach House is one of my favorite bands ever. Teen Dream is when they started to become really special. A 5/5 album that is still only my 4th or 5th favorite Beach House album.
Næstum fullkomið draumpopp
Such a great album! Beautiful, lush soundscapes that make you dream out of the world. This band evokes a feeling a lot of bands don't manage to strike. It’s very melancholic, memorable and greatly composed. Standout tracks: Zebra, Silver Soul, Walk In The Park, Used To Be, Lover Of Mine, Better Times, Real Love, Take Care 9 out of 10
Nice vibe
Really enjoyed album
Never heard of it before but it was great. Very beautiful vocals and instrumental, eerie, magical.
Chilled vibes, nice
HL: "Zebra", "Silver Soul", "Norway", "Walk in the Park", "Better Times", "Take Care" Listening to this a day after throwing out my back while performing the daring stunt of... getting out of bed, I now consider Beach House to be a form of medicine Of course, now this + Future Islands have given me a new affliction, a sudden need to visit Baltimore, MD October 5, 2023
Amazing album! I remember a much more lukewarm reception to my first taste of Beach House; I will have to give their discography a listen!
Love it! Love Beach House! The best band of the past 20 years!
Great album top to bottom. Very ethereal and I loved it! Just endless ability to re-listen to it.
One year of albums! This is a pleasant one to mark day 365, but it's certainly not an artist I'm familiar with. I liked this one. It's maybe not something I'd usually seek out, but it's really dreamy and quite psychedelic. Just a wonderful vibe of an album. It's funny because I know I would have HATED this back in 2010 and probably up until a couple of years ago. Then I got an apartment, a car, a full time job and all the responsibilities of adulthood. Then I learned to appreciate the times when I could just slow down and turn off. This seems like the sort of album I'd listen to when going on a long walk - it'd be the perfect remedy to clear my thoughts for a bit. Favourite: Norway
one of my favorite albums of all time. perfectly captures this desolate, nostalgic vibe. perfect lyrics, perfect instrumentation, perfect album.
I noticed I had saved 3 songs from this album on Spotify, but I'm not sure I listened through the whole album before. Amazingly I found even more songs that were worthy of saving, and I didn't really think there were any bad songs at all. I never really considered this to be THAT good, but now when I heard the whole album I can't really give it anything other than 5 stars, it's actually a stellar album. It's quite melancholic though, and her voice is probably something you either love or hate, but it hits just right for me.
Loved it. Beach House is a name I've heard a bunch and it was on the list of bands to check out so I was happy to give it a listen. Very much the vibes I like.
Min teenage dream
Though not as shoegazey as Bloom, Teen Dream is a near perfect dream pop album. Everything about it from the instrumentation to the vocals is so well done. The production reminds me of an updated version of Phil Spector's wall of sound with the driving bass and piano/organ and is somewhat reminicent of the production heard on Fleet Foxes Subpop releases. The melodies simply do not miss and are memorable.
dreamy shit
I've listened to Beach House's Teen Dream many times since 2010, so this is an easy five star review for me (man, what a year 2010 was for music). This album is perfectly dreamy and melodic; every song on this album is unique, and Victoria Legrand's vocals are like a pillow that's always the right temperature. As much as I love this album, I wish I had more insightful things to say about it, but all I can say is that it's an incredibly pleasurable experience every time that I listen to it.
This album forever has my heart.
Great beginning, slows down near the end but still an all time record
Wow. This album was something else. The only thing wrong with this album is that it makes me feel stupid for not listening to more Beach House sooner. Listening to it at 2AM definitely helps haha. Not a single bad song. Phenomenal album filled with emotion.
love this chillwave album
11/10
Ahora sí que estanos hablando. Discazo.
Great chill album. I really enjoyed the shit out of this.
Great light chill music
One of my favorites of all time. Lush, immersive, romantic. Perfecto.
Perfect record! Easy 5/5 probably a little low!
It's a beauty, I love it. Makes me feel 18 again.
Amo Beach House. Solo por eso ya es una obra maestra.
D'humeur généreuse
Teen Dream in a way kinda sound like it's cover; beautiful. The sound of this record is amazing with incredible piano passages doubled with Victoria Legrand's superb voice. This album envelops you with its sound in a way not a lot of album do. This is the first dream pop classic from this band that will put out a lot of other great albums. Zebra, Norway, Used to Be, Walk in the Park and Take Care are all gems. 9/10
New to me but don't know how I missed it when released. Love it!
I’ve always meant to check them out, but never got to it. I thoroughly enjoyed this and even though it’s a bit samesie, I feel like that’s also part of what made it so vibey cohesive. Also, I’ve got a soft spot for Sub Pop as a Washingtonian. You know what? I’m giving this 5 stars!
I usually dislike this genre of music; I find it headache-inducing. But this was just so well-made. It has a cohesive texture while also having many eclectic sound choices to make each track interesting.
A perfectly constructed dream
Beach House put out at least a 3-album run of 5-star gems and this was the first. Hypnotic and beautiful - changed me when I first heard it
This was my AOTY for 2010. Haven’t listened to it in years, but still sounds as good now as it did back then. Felt strangely nostalgic too for a time that doesn’t feel very long ago. Absolutely class. This album got me into Bella Union, never looked back.
This album is just simply beautiful. I utterly love beachhouse and their music and even tho i think depression cherry is their best album this is still perfect
Probably my favorite Beach House album, so you already know my rating. 🤌
I love this album.
Loved it. Zebra my favourite on the album
Really great! Loved it! Ok!
So damn good. I loved this record, it is such a nice record to put on and just sit and relax. It's so soothing and so calming. Every track felt so beautifully crafted and so inspired. Zebra stands out as one of the best songs I've heard on this journey so far. The vocals are just so pretty and the entire record is just so dreamy, absolutely loved this record. Favorite Track: Zebra; Take Care; Silver Soul Least Favorite Track: None
Ahhhhh!!!! Classic!! The first song still gives me chills
Heard before. Love Beach House. Listened many times.
Something so different and amazing. Wish I knew about earlier!
Sounds like Haim Very cool songs
Amazing
Amazing
One of my favorite albums of all time. I've listened to this countless times since I discovered it 3 months ago. I've listened to it while hiking, working, walking around the city, riding a train in Europe, lying in my bed, and lying on a rock in the woods in the rain. I've listened to this high on weed, shrooms, and LSD. The production is much more sophisticated and involved than their prior two albums, they go really far with the capabilities of their keyboards and how to manipulate Legrand's vocals as another instrument, a tool frequently employed in dream pop. "10 Mile Stereo" is the biggest example of how far they take synths you would never see in their s/t or Devotion. I'm a fan of every single song. It was very hard for me to resist not adding every single song to my liked songs on Spotify, which after listening to over a thousand albums, is something I've only struggled with on Pet Sounds, Sgt Pepper, and Abbey Road. For reference, the songs I hesitatingly convinced myself were not needed to be added were "Better Times" and "Real Love." So what do I love about this album? I'm not going to do a song-by-song analysis, as I believe the album is highly coherent, and their strengths are not unique to each track despite how special each of them is. In short, it's one of the most optimistic, hopeful albums. In general, Beach House albums are dreamy, hypnotizing, nostalgic, and comforting. Songs like "Used to Be" lift my spirits and put a smile on my face despite the conflicting longing lyrical subject. But they all put a smile on my face... I'm not making this up... only this album is only to do this to me!! Every song starts with a peculiar hook that pulls you in, and the dreamy keyboards, rhythm, and entrancing vocals stop you from diverting your attention. Teen Dream is peculiar in that nearly every song has this bridge into what could be an entirely different song. The whole record is coherent. "Zebra" pulls you in with the mysterious opening chords and hits you with powerful and emotional synths. Then when you think that must be the highlight, "Silver Soul" shows you that yes, the WHOLE ALBUM is just as strong. "Norway" is *probably* not my favorite, but it's what I might consider being their best song. Skipping to near the end, we have one of the most complex, exciting tracks "10 Mile Stereo" which drops into "Real Love" which calms the nerves and anticipates the climax of the album. "Take Care" is my favorite closer of all time... it feels like a warm hug that almost makes you cry, and you wish that the album would never end. Teen Dream hit me in a huge way, as I started listening to their discography in order and was stunned at how dramatic the shift was from Devotion. I had not felt the same way about later albums, but they're different moods. I'm happy this is the Beach House album chosen on this list, but I highly recommend everyone to check out the rest of their discography. Beach House is among the most consistent bands out there, having 8 incredible records. They haven't sold out. They churn out creative ideas in every album. I admit I only started listening to them 5 months ago, but they're my new favorite band, and I can't wait to see them live next month.
i love how big the sound is on this album and i love how powerful victoria’s voice is
Beautiful antidote for the last offering! Lovely bimble in the sunshine 🌞
Ne trebam ni slusat opet, albumčina
I am not familiar with and never heard of BEACH HOUSE and their third album, TEEN DREAM at all. After listening to TEEN DREAM multiple times, I really the soft, clear vocals and the haunting musicianship that this album gives us. But I struggle with the album as a whole, while the vocals are exquisite, and the lyrics are stream-of-consciousness, and both really work well together. I have a problem with the musicality at the beginning of the album I was almost falling asleep, not out of boredom, but rather the lack of variety, as the album progressed I was able to get the musicality and the flow the album was much better, hence the higher score on the songs. A interesting and unusual album, almost like a Kate Bush with stream-of-consciousness lyrics rather than storytelling. Nunca tinha escutado nada dessa banda. Adorei. Uma grata surpresa. Super relaxante.
4.5/5. Shit was LOVELY but dummy hipster indie
<3
Está bien. Slow indie pop. 5.
It’s beautiful. 9/10
I love listening to this kind of music while doing other things, like designing or reorganizing my home. It inspires me.
Why is their sound ethereal? Her voice? Combo of synth and guitar? Is it an effect of the droning in each song? Their music just feels different somehow. It’s hypnotic, relaxing, nostalgic, but also has a hint of emo, it’s heavy but light. A combination of Indy pop, sci-fi soundtracks, nostalgic sounding effects, early electronic minimalism and a beautiful deep female voice akin to Nico. There is really only one crescendo, but it feels like it’s constant throughout. For me this is an easy 5, just as good on a summer drive as a moody evening in by myself. All songs are good, catchy. This has been the soundtrack to many road trips and will continue to be so.
Lovely, like a west coast surf Fleet Foxes
legal
so touching
Great background music
Está bien. Slow indie pop.
Great sound
So lovely. Take Care was on a playlist I made Julian a fews back.
Right up my alley. A good indie-laid back album
Lighthearted, easy listening
Really nice melodic music. Great to listen while working, but also just to chill out
Love this record. Seeing these songs live is amazing.
it's samey but it's also my style
Dreamy dream pop by Dream Pop band.
One of the people I most looked up to in college was a Beach House devotee, and I’ve read so much about how great their albums are. I think they capture what a lot of 2010s indie failed to in leaning into the atmospheric quality of their music. I truly hate 2010s indie but this was pleasant.
Silver Soul is such a good song!
Good album. Nice and relaxing
3.5/5 alltså bra måste jag säga men lyssnar inte mycket på den här genren.
feel like this is as good as shoegaze gets
8/10 Really good. The vocals are clearer than I was expecting and the songs less dense. Lovely
I need to listen to more Beach House
A welcome addition to the list. Some iconic licks that you hear everywhere in other music and on TikTok
Sad happy
really really nice, I like this genre and I've liked other beach house songs outside of this album, I should have checked this one out. it's yum :)
Ya indie boi time
An album I know and always happy to listen to again, good way to start monday
If you like Arcade Fire, but are sick of all those pesky crescendos, have I got the album for you!
I Love Beach House
Enjoyable. New band to me.
Zebra 4 Silver Soul 3.9 Norway 4 Walk in the Park 4.1 Used to Be 4 Lover of Mine 3.6 Better Times 3.7 10 Mile Stereo 3.7 Real Love 3.2 Take Care 3.8 Score: 3.8
Yeah this albums good
I love the vibe of Beach House, and the way their songs wash over you, but at the same time there's a similar to the majority of the songs that means I really only need 4 or 5 songs before I'm ready to move on
Chill vibes
'Any way you run, you run before us / Black & white horse arching among us.' As white as The Shins, meaning as white as you can get, Beach House makes music just as gorgeous as The Shins', meaning as gorgeous as this perspective can produce. 'You let us in the wooden house / To share in all the wealth.' Dreamy in all facets of the word, that is, dreamy b/c luxuriant & walled-off from reality, Teen Dream is produced to a sweet perfection, & its loving cadences are no soulless messages of luxury. But rampant lushness like this is for folk w/ a beach house, or multiple, not for the common lot of humanity. Do I think there's no place for music like this? I do not, hence a rating that expresses my appreciation. But yeah, they're finally too pallid.
Ive heard thia one before and it was too "liquid" for me, i only LOOOOOVE "Silver Soul" so freaking much it hurts🙏🙏🙏🙏
genuinely i liked this. it felt like a dream. the lyrics were gorgeous and the arrangements were good.
Pretty fun, bit meandering
I cried peacefuly.
Love it.
A pleasant surprise. Good Alt Music - surprised they do not get more airplay
Good listen. Enjoyed the album all the way through. Reminds me of some of the other indie pop bands that came around in the early 2010s.
Like being escorted in a rowboat on a bitter cold lake through the thickest fog by a sometime depressive contralto that will either haunt you or sing to you sweetly.
this album reminds me of a cutie little coming of age indie movie. I need to romanticize every thing and narrate my life in a sleepy, bored sounding voice all poetic like
I have never heard of this band nor any of their songs. 1st time through... -------------------- Parts of this reminded me of The XX. Some parts actually reminded me of the mellower songs of My Morning Jacket. Sometimes reminded me of Arcade Fire. Sometimes Mazzy Star. Also - something about "Silver Soul" also reminded me of "Funeral" by Band of Horses. I like stuff from all of these bands so this is a good start. Her voice sometimes reminds me of that song "Marry Me Archie" by Allvays. I don't know that band as much as the others mentioned above but it occurred to me as I was listening. Although looks like this Beach House album came out 4 years before the Allvays one. Also - sometimes I hear a voice/pronunciation like Lorde. Funny how this keeps reminding me of so many other things. Looking at the Wikipedia article they say this is "shoegaze" genre. I must not understand shoegaze because the album I heard on this website by the band that was considered the originator of shoegaze was from My Bloody Valentine called "m b v" - which sounds nothing like this and that was horrible (0 songs liked, 0 stars). Maybe other My Bloody Valentine stuff sounds like this. Don't know. Or maybe shoegaze is just a dumb label that some critic came up with or some record company came up with in an attempt to create interest in some new bands. I'm starting to realize that I really don't like genre labels. They also call it "dream pop". I'm not sure exactly what that means but it sounds like a more reasonable name for this style. 2nd time through... --------------------- Liked "Silver Soul", "Norway", "10 Mile Stereo" and "Real Love" on this spin through 3rd time through... --------------------- Liked "Zebra", "Walk In the Park", "Take Care" So, I basically liked the first 4 songs and the last 3 longs. The 3 in the middle weren't necessarily bad - they just didn't grab me as much. This was a good surprise! I came into this with zero knowledge or expectations - but it ended up being pretty good. Definitely has very chill vibes - but sometimes that fits the mood. It doesn't get boring though - since it has an intensity to it. I need to listen to this more to understand what most of this is about - lyrically. One other thing I noticed - a lot of these songs are around 5 minutes long and several longer than that. That's good - it lets the songs stretch into the vibe and lets them do more interesting things as it goes along. Liked songs on Spotify: 7/10 Rating: 4/5
Love this band and this is a solid album. The record is Flfilled with with the dreamy, melancholic vibe that they do very well. Glad to see them and this album on the list
Sometimes im just like damn what is blessing my ears
I really enjoy beach house and how vibey their music is. I don’t think I could give a 5 to an album that doesn’t really go out of its comfort zone to do something bold, but they know their sound and stuck to it.
This might be the first album on the list from a band I'd never heard of that I actually enjoyed. I've always had a soft spot for shoegaze, especially on a rainy day, and this was a nice way to spend my early morning.
This definitely felt like something new back then, and still feels fresh to me. It's definitely chill, and it might be easy to miss the rhythmic and tonal variation. But watch how "10 Miles Stereo" develops. (That was the song that caught my ear today.) My other favorites are "Zebra" and "Take Care." Rich sonic textures, and she's got a great voice to match them. I think this is the right album to include on a Must Listen list, but I'll revisit "Bloom". Not quite 5/5, just 4/5. But I'd probably include it on my personal list of 1001.
Kind of reminds me of the Elbow album that I just had. Solid and interesting to listen to. I feel like this will require more listens, but starting as a:
Thick, soupy, dreamy. Very enjoyable album, need to check their other ones
Never listened to this before the challenge somehow and wow what a mistake. This is light and airy dream pop, pulls from a few other places as well. Norway, Zebra, Silver Soul, Used to Be, 10 Mile Stereo are all killer tracks. Gotta be a 4
I enjoyed this. Never heard of them before but I liked the tunes
like their music, a few songs were a bit boring on this album
Nice, dreamy vibes but doesn't really get boring. I like the repetitiveness (is that a word) within songs, it sucks me in and let's me vibe along.
This is where I find out Beach House has an album in here. I'm only familiar with them through 2015's Depression Cherry, which is a really beautifully crafted record ("Space Song" has gone viral in recent years, for good reason I think). Hearing a lot of the same bright, beautiful vibes here as well. Orchestral in a synthesized way, if that makes sense. Melancholic if not a little bittersweet.
Kivaa indiehommaa, kuuntelin pakkaillessa, sopi hyvin vibat. Tarvii ehkä tutustua paremmin vielä levyyn ja artistiin
Æ tror ikke musikk fra 2010-tallet e for mæ sånn generelt, guri, det her va ikke spesielt interessant?
Nice listen
Songs that take you on a journey musically, lots of emotions to be felt here
Beach house is great, walk in the park is a standout
A nice indie sounding album, quintessential 2010s sounding. I’d listen to it again and it was great to listen to while I worked on a project.
Such an aural delight. I’m not a huge dream pop fan, but this album is fantastic.
Damn! I always loved 7 and this is way different but also amazing. Idk why i put it off for so long. I saved every song on it. Excited to listen again
Superb Right up my street Really good, great guitar work. Lovely melodies
Yeah... I like this album, a good bit actually. Not sure if I find it essential. I'm not sure where it expands dream pop, but I dig the overall project (8.1) ★★★★
Dreamy and soothing. 4 stars
Love this album. I think Beach House has a cool, dreamy sound and Victoria Legrand has a really cool voice. I had tickets to see them opening for Grizzly Bear around the time of this album, but I got stuck in traffic on my way to Ann Arbor and missed their set. Highlights for me here are "Zebra", "Walk in the Park", and "Silver Soul", but I don't think there's really a weak track here. 4.5 stars.
A very good album. An album that’s good on a walk
Some really good songs on this album. Really evokes a feeling of melancholy and happiness at the same time.
This takes me back, an all timer for me
𝘛𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘋𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 is one of those albums that makes dream pop feel effortless. The songs drift along on warm organ tones, hazy guitars, and the deep, unmistakable voice of Victoria Legrand. Everything moves at an unhurried pace, creating a sound that feels both intimate and expansive at the same time. What makes the album work so well is its consistency. Tracks like 𝗭𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮, 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝘆, and 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗹 all share the same dreamy atmosphere without ever becoming dull. Instead, the record feels like one long, glowing mood. It’s simple music in many ways, but the melodies and textures make it surprisingly immersive.
friday night lights as an album -- its enjoyable, but not unique enough to get top billing
Sometimes dream pop can actually just feel like you want to go to sleep (i.e. it's boring), but this manages to straddle the line incredibly well and makes for a really engaging, yet somewhat calm, listen.
I love music that's so big it just wraps itself around you.
Higher than 4.0 but not 5. 4 point something
