Reviews (page 10 of 12)
Works as a whole album more than the individual songs hit, maybe cause of how short they are. He's a great storyteller, about time I listened more to him Saved: Blue Eyes Crying In the Rain, Red Headed Stranger*, Down Under
Real tears-in-my-beer stuff. I feel it. Willie knows how to sell it, with his plain-spoken singing. For a short album, it drags on a little long. Favorite tracks: "Blue Eyes Crying in The Rain", "Remember Me"
I’ve never heard this before. Country isn’t usually my thing but this was very enjoyable. Glad my horizons were expanded a little.
not too bad
classic country
Stabiler traditioneller country
Love his voice and style.
Wow tracks country tracks are pretty short. It was a pleasant album but hasn't blown me away.
Cool voice. This album gets a bit repetitive, but each song is pretty cool on its own.
This must have been before Willie Nelson found weed.

With all due respect to Willie, I don't like it.
Just not my cup of tea.
It’s well executed but country music is just shit.
It was just like that. The atmosphere wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.
Americano demais pro meu gosto.
+ ok…
It's a bit down tempo for me, if I'm going to listen to country I like the more upbeat stuff. Nice enough to listen to.
1001 albums to hear before you country yourself until exhaustion 125# Knowing i don't like country.. i don't like this album. It's just country, turned up a notch. Really mellow ballads.. with a voice that everyone is saying that they like it, but I really just think it is just a middle of the road voice I really can't understand the appeal. Well, these are cute little tunes but nothing really heartfelt nor catches my attention.
Bland, didn't care for it
good for a morning drive
Nice old school country with more impressive guitar playing than I would have expected.
Love a bit of country but not its best offering.
Fairport's album yesterday was like coming home and putting your comfy slippers on. In comparison this one is like popping round to your slightly odd neighbour's place: not offensive at all, occasionally interesting, but you really don't want to spend any more time there than absolutely necessary. A somewhat intolerant 2. 2*
is this the best he does?
2,5
Enjoyable enough
Pasó tan desapercibido que terminó y no me acordaba que estaba escuchando
Not much going on instrumentally here, which is almost never enjoyable to me. Shame as I’ve liked most of the country records I’ve had so far.
I didn't get into it.
This album was a bit too mellow for me without being super pleasant to listen to. I feel like Johnny Cash has a better blend there but I know Nelson probably isn’t going for the same thing
Very evocative of sitting around a campfire trading tunes and Willie Nelson is an icon but… it’s just sooo slow 😭
Great voice but bored of the album. Literal one trick pony and same, slow sound all the way through. 2/5
felt a little bit too lullabyish for me
This kinda country music does nothing for me, even though I can appreciate that this is a good version of the genre.
Meh
not for me, but I get why people like it
A pleasant listen, but Willie's sleepy tones didn't really stand out - lots of enjoyable sounds though.
6/10 - Didn't dislike it - would enjoy sitting in the sun with this on in the background. But not my cup of tea Fav Tracks: Red Headed Stranger Heard before? ---–- ❌ Saved a Song? ----- ❌ Saved Album? --–-- ❌ Will Listen Again? -- ❌
not my style, too country for me
WHY are there multiple versions of Time of the Preacher on the same album???? I don't know if it's just me, but all of the songs lowkey sound the same. Maybe it's just country music. All of the songs feel like continuations of each other, which might be the idea of it and I'm just judging for no reason. Country music will be country music. The songs are really short. I don't really feel a particular way listening to these, but that might have something to do with my doing homework. I like Blue Eyes Crying; I think that one stood out to me, but that also happens to be the one I was listening to while writing this instead of doing my homework. No way there was just a random instrumental track. Maybe I'm just being a negative nancy. Wait. As I get more tired or something, and as the album progresses, I'm sorta catching a vibe. Woah. Do I like country music? Overall, it wasn't INCREDIBLE and didn't really tug on my heart strings, but it wasn't terrible.
This was straight-up country which, normally, wouldn’t be my thing. This was short enough - and cohesive enough - to be tolerable.
Imagine what these songs would sound like if they were fully sketched out!
The 70s must have been a mellow time. Maybe it’s me but each song feels like a cliche from an old movie, but I guess Willie didn’t first. Good for him.
No me molesto tanto escucharlo. Pero no me gusta el country
Kyl tää kantri on melkein automaattinen 1-2 aina. Ei oikee jaksa lähteä. Laitetaan willie nelsonin nimelle kuitenkin 2
"I'm drowning in a river of whiskey". Tekis iteki mieli tän paskan jälkeen
Ei nää kantrirenkutukset vaan lähe vaikka kuinka ois legendarya. Ehkä vielä joskus.
Vähän löysällä munalla läpsyttelyä. Ei kyllä lähtenyt.
While I've never been a fan of country music, my dad is. I have memories of being a small kid sitting in the back seat of the car and hearing music like this. Willie Nelson has a great voice and there is some fine guitar playing on here. And though I am not likely to return to this album, there were some really nice moments.
You can't hang a man for killin' a woman who's tryin' to steal your horse.
Not my thing.
It's fine, for country music, but not my jam.
It's all the same after short time...
little too croony.
2.2 Definitely not my thing, but it didn’t grate on my eardrums the way some country musics does. I can see why people would like, I just don’t! But you can’t fault talent and he can definitely write and can definitely sing.
Bored af
Listening session: april 5th, while getting ready in the morning Listened to before: no Thoughts: so this is my second Willie Nelson album in four days, which is a bit much for someone who dislikes country music…. I have to say that I liked the other album better because those were all covers instead of true country songs Favourite tracks: Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain & Bandera
Linda melodía, muy country, aburrido 2 estrellas
a nice relaxing album, although country isn’t my thing
Down Yonder was fun, but overall a little too slow. His voice is a classic, but meh.
Before listening: Here we are, possibly the least familiar genre for me. I don’t think I ever heard a song by Willie Nelson. But I love story telling in music so I’m looking forward. Post listening: I guess it’s good. Someone might like it very much. But I feel absolute nothing about this album. I like when albums/songs tell stories but this story did nothing for me. And delivery missed me. I didn’t hate it and I respect it for what it is. But I can’t event be bothered to relisten and pick highlights.
Red Headed Stranger has an iconic reputation, but the ultra‑stripped production leaves it feeling slow and flat. Not a bad country album — just a pretty dull one.
Not for me
2.7
Just not really what I gravitate towards
nice
I have made great strides in overcoming my intense cultural bias against country music but Willie will probably always be a bridge too far for me. Mainly because my Old Man absolutely hated Willie Nelson and would yell at the radio every single time "the Bedbug" came on.
Gikk inn i en langvarig depresjon halvveis inn i plata.
Kjedelig country, alt er helt rett frem.
This isn't the first Willie Nelson album I received review, and once again I find myself wondering whether traditional folk music like country even belongs on this list. Be that as it may, I consider “Red Headed Stranger” to be a perfectly tolerable country album, whose best moments are reminiscent of Johnny Cash - albeit without his charismatic voice. I can easily imagine “Down Yonder” as part of the soundtrack for a Western parody. Otherwise, I can't see much of relevance here. Incidentally, the Wikipedia entry claims that the instrumentation is largely reduced to guitar, piano, and drums—which is somewhat of an outrage given the importance of the bass on this record.
Sorry Mr. Nelson, but I just don't like country.
Ehh
Not bad but not my style of music at all
Usual western tropes. Lonesome guy on a hoss, getting pissed about by his true love. Tuneful enough, but tired themes.
Country BAU (Boring As Usual)
Not my style
It was nice and short. All of the songs kind of blended together. I found it quite boring. I only knew Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain. I just don’t like country music.
booooooooooooooring af boy
This is #day564 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and… here's to crossing out yet another artist, as this is my second and final Willie Nelson record. Should I remind you that country is still among my worst genres on this journey? Well, I just did. At least this was kind of more enjoyable than most of the country represented on the list. Still, this is a 2 out of 5. Looking forward to #day565.
It's country music time; will try to keep an open mind! Generally don't mind country in short bursts, and luckily this isn't a long album. Time of the Preacher is a nice opening tune, and overall this sounds pleasant enough; it's not bad per se. But it started getting repetitive around track 9, Denver. So I didn't hate this, but equally wouldn't care to listen again.
I was so close to skipping it all together. I’m not a country girl yet 😔
Kinda lame. If you're a fan of slow, ramblin' country, Willie's your guy. Unfortunately not enough happens musically, or lyrically, that would bring me back to this. Just sounds lame.
this is so arthur morgan core. didn't really find much interesting about this though.
If I were a fan of this style of music, I'm sure this would be a lovely listening experience. The concept of the album being in the vein of a Western outlaw is cool, but it gets boring by the end. Honestly, it could be a two or a three, but I'm leaning towards a two for now.
Not really a fan of the song about the anger issues guy that shot a lady because she tried to take his horse. I was kinda bored through the whole album.
There's nothing really wrong with this album, but it's very much not my thing. It did help to make me sleepy enough to rest though, which is nice. The score of two is for some nice production and for being a sleep aid.
Jeff: Like AC/DC, once you've heard one, you've heard them all. Simran: I didn't hate it. I wouldnt listen to it again.
Boring and slow
Favourite Songs: Red Headed Stranger
didn't listen to it all because it's too country for me... i don't think it was bad, it had some dounds i enjyed, but overall, not my thing
Just a country.
I respect Willie Nelson, but I'm not a country fan. This didn't click with me.
2.3/5. A nice easy album to listen too but nothing amazing
#255/1001. This sounds like a country album from Willie Nelson, and the best songs sound like they could be on the Muppet Show (which of course is a praise of a highest level).
I really struggle to enjoy country and western. Buy if I was a fan .... I guess this album would be fantastic. I liked the stripped back arrangement and Willy's voice is 100% genuine. He's great, I just wasn't keen on the vibe.
I love Willie, but this album is boring as hell.
even though it was pleasant, i have no idea why it's on the list, to me it wasn't formative in any way. i generally like country music but in here my problem was that everything sounded like one long song, maybe due to short duration of each song but i don't know, i just wasn't satisfied
possible it's good but not for me. 01/20/2026
A beautiful voice but the songs never really grabbed me I'm afraid
sounded all the same to me
Can't really see what the fuss is about this album. Not a big country fan though.
Can you really make an outstanding country record is that possible?
Not the biggest fan of country music, but this is not as bad I imagined it would be. The songs all sound the same though. Stand-outs - Down Yonder - Can I Sleep in Your Arms
Classic Country/Western, emphasis on the Western. Listening makes you feel like you’re sitting in a saloon in the Old West with old man Willie strumming out front singing stories of outlaws and cavaliers. Easy listening, good vibes. However, each song kind of feels the same as the last, somewhat predictable and safe chord progressions.
Favourites: 1. Red Headed Stranger Least Favourite: ... Hands on the Wheel
Decent, if unexciting. 33 minutes went by slowly. 2.5/5
(country 🤘)
Average american country music to my ears
Willie Nelson, I can imagine why people like this. But not for me.
i liked some of the musical stuff, but the genre overall isn’t really for me
xd
This sort of bumbled along for the most part. Occasionally it breaks up the tempo but for the most part this is soporific, classic country. Can I Sleep In Your Arms following Down Yonder made for some appreciated pace changes but didn’t find much in here to hold the attention. Would be fine on a journey if you had other genres to listen to but I can’t see myself ever seeking it out.
His outlaw era is better. This is more like his "unpaid parking ticket" era.
His voice is beautiful - warm and soothing - but these traditional country songs don't do a lot for me. And the claim to be country's first concept album is hardly impressive - I can't believe that any genre in 1975 could think it was innovative to arrange the songs to form a story. As for the story itself... A man comes home to find his wife with her lover so, regrettably, he has to kill them both. Then he goes off a-wandering, all sad and lonesome like, because the poor man's wife has been murdered. Then he murders somebody else because she looked at his horse funny. But thankfully our tragic hero finds true love again, so it all ends happily (apart from the trail of bodies he left behind him) It just made me feel the cultural difference between me and the kind of America this music represents
As someone who doesn't absorb lyrics, especially on a first listen, an album like this isn't set up to get a high rating from me.
Nelson's voice is amazing but there's something about this type of country that doesn't click with me
Country mid
This album is a mess. Stardust is where it’s at.
Meh
Wanted to like it because it was Willie, still couldn’t get into it.
The first country album that hasn't made me want to claw my ears off. It's a low bar, but it managed it. 2 stars.
merp
Tolerable but country has never been my thing. I like how stripped back it is. The simplicity of the production.
Vähän liian narisevaa ja kantrista. Toisaalta ihan hauskaa...silloin kun ei laulettu. Lempparini oli juuri tästä syystä Down Yonder.
Nah
Okay, totaliai ne mano žanro tokia prie laužo muzika.
1st one. Listened to while getting ready for bed. Maybe should have given it more attention because the story telling is its defining feature. I liked the story telling but it’s about a world I have no real relation to, so I don’t really feel much about it. I kind of just imagined freemount, which is a harsh analogy, but it’s just a genre I don’t really like. Favourite song: Can I sleep in your arms
Campfire stories with Willie Nelson (which seemed to be a bit of a concept album back in '75) is a mixed bag and not one for me. Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain is probably the nicest track.
não gosto de country
Bleh
My relationship with country music is complicated. I tend to prefer female country artists and I’m more into bluegrass. Despite that, I do not mind this album. It’s short and sweet. No filler. No fluff. Would I seek it out? Probably not. I’m also amazed this is Willie Nelson’s 18th album in 1975!
Country is a tough genre for me, but it seems like the older it is, the better it is. I like that this is short. It's evocative. I feel like I should be riding a horse through the dusty west, sleeping under the stars, eating from a pot of bean that's dangling over a campfire. A tad bit slow and tedious at times. This is not something I would have ever listened to if not for this project.
Ehh. I didn't want to rate it this low given Willie's notoriety, but it was pretty boring and there's been better country from this list.
Saai. 2.5/5
Interesting concept. Lackluster presentation.
Loves the lyrics, voice was ok, but really missed a good background track.
Wtf is Outlaw Country? Sounds like a failed state
For a concept album, the story was a little bit too simplistic. Also, Willie Nelson’s wobbly voice sends bad shivers down my spine.
Não é muito meu estilo
Not really my thing but nice songs Willie
Not really my cup of tea generally, However, it was a pleasant and interesting listen.
It's fine. I normally the old timey country stuff, but this didn't do much for me.
Det är något psykologiskt tilltalande med country, "the lonesome rambling man, always on his (för det är 'his') way". Och roots-inslag gillar jag. Men det kan verkligen bli för mycket. Och jag har lite svårt med W. N.s röst.
Gaf me wel echte oldschool country vibe.
inoffensive enough, background music that didn't really pique my interest or turn me off. recorded on a potato though.
Good music to listen to when you want something low keyed. I did like the ditty.
Music for old people. At least the tracks were short.
It was only okay. Old school country. Nothing exciting.
He has a nice voice, but the tracks are pretty tame and not very produced. 2/5
Full disclosure, I do not like country music and will likely not rate any country albums very highly. This being said, I have a great deal of respect for Willie Nelson. The man makes good music, and he is a country music legend for a reason. However, that type of music is not my personal preference and is a bit grating to listen to. You will enjoy this no doubt if you are into older country tunes, but since I am not this is where we're at.
not really my style, but that's the guy who sang "on the road again" which kevo covered!
Not my type of music, it was okay though
It's nice that it has a story but it's hard to get through 30 straight minutes of folk acoustic
Not a fan of straight country. However, Nelson earns his star status.
Ugh... Country... Does anyone REALLY need to hear Country before they die? For me, Willie Nelson is sorta the polar opposite of Morrissy: love the artist; hate the art. Though this was fairly painful, I'll give it a bonus star for being more "must hear before you die" Country than Dwight Yoakum. That twangy, hyper-masculine shit Dwight was peddling is the Devil; and as awful as this album may be, it certainly isn't that brand of insecure, hateful garbage.
Willie has a great voice but every song sounds the same Fav song: Bandera
It was okay FOR ME. I’m not super into country as is and old country especially, however, the “Red Headed Stranger” song was cool in the fact that it told a story of how a man killed his lover, and I feel like mainstream artists don’t tell stories like that nowadays. One of the highlights on the album was in the song “Down Yonder” with its cool old timey, saloon style instrument.
Not my tipe of music
It is alright for its genre but I don't really like this music anyway. I probably will never listen to it again but it was alright while I did.
I listened to this last night and already have forgotten the entire thing. I remember enjoying it enough for it to not feel like a drag but thats about it. Sorry Willie but its a 2 for forgettability.
Not my thing
Not for me, but not bad
country:/
Bekannte Stücke sind unter anderem „Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain“, „Time of the Preacher“ und der Titeltrack „Red Headed Stranger“.
I used to think I disliked country music, but I have to admit the country albums offered on this list have been reasonnably enjoyable (well, at least I didn’t hate them), and I’m slowly changing my mind in that regard. This album started well with a nice Far-West vibe, and I immediately felt transported to the Frontier in the early 19th century. Listening to the first few tracks felt like sitting on my porch in the desert, watching dust devils and changing shapes in the clouds. Quite a nice feeling... But alas, watching clouds and dust devils also gets very boring after a while. I totally understand the laid-back vibe, it’s nice when you’re in the mood – but a whole album of it is a bit too much for me. When the last track ended I was glad it was over. I have nothing but respect for Nelson, he obviously knows what he’s doing. But it’s the kind of music I can only appreciate at very small doses.
It became clear to me around a third of the way through this one that I was fighting a lost cause, and the remaining 20 minutes or so felt like an eternity. It's clearly a respectable enough bandit country album with more nuance to it than I expected, but for my tastes, that's like giving a bad pizza takeout props for at least not leaving you toilet bound throughout the night.
Too country
I am. Not enough of a country fan for this.
i am not a big fan of country and there was really only one song I kind of liked
Not for me
Placentada
Arthur is that you? no lo voy a volver a escuchar nunca 1.75/5
Dope-smokin' Willie was popular with my generation in a cultish sort of way, but for me it's just old style Texas swing or some such, the Western in C&W, and pretty intolerable.
Relaxing to the point that I zoned out and didn't realise the album was looping. Lyrics are a bit on the nose. Not my go-to genre but I can appreciate the talent.
Idk not too much else to add to the last one I got from him, it could definitely be a lot worse i.e more country, but every song seems the exact same, the same chords and tempos for most. The storytelling is good I guess. Probably worse than the last one from him. Favourite songs: down yonder, and maybe some more I missed. Overall around 4/10
Willie, you're great. You're also super depressing and really not my thing.
Doesn't do it for me, its nice and pleasant, isn't this supposed to be some outlaw shit? There are far greater country singers imo, I guess this is just more popular. Now Phases and Stages is good as fuck, crushes this boring stuff. Maybe im just not in the mood for this.
Ok, I hate to be the nay sayer here but this album isn’t a masterpiece. I like the concept and I like Willie for who he is and his amazing career. That being said, all of these songs are very similar, with the lone exception of Down Yonder. For an album that’s 34 minutes long, it felt like an eternity to get through.
Good background music but mid
Totally fine replacement-level album from Willie Nelson. Pleasant enough in the background, but putting this on this list was a little perplexing, especially given his other one was much better and more distinctive. Also the 2 reprises of time of the preacher adds little. Like, this song was extremely mid to begin with, why do we need 2 reprises (this coming from someone who loves a good reprise). But at the end of the day, Willie Nelson is never gonna be bad per se, just not compelling. 2.5, rounding down, because we just had a country artist who was way better.
I was bored by most songs. They're quite slow and didn't have a lot going on. I enjoyed some of the song on the 2nd half of the album. My favourites were Down Yonder, Remember Me and Bandera.
🤠🐎👢👖🐄
I liked the concept but I was so bored throughout this album. I kept waiting for something to happen or the pace to pick up and it just didnt
I like classic country a decent amount but this was a fairly boring listen. Willie needed to crank out a few more hits or something!
Jag tycker det är tråkigt
ZzzzzZz
Blasphemous I am sure, but camp fire music.
So sorry Willie, but aside from some ragtime piano bits, this was dull. I'm not a fan of country, so my opinion carries no real weight on this album.
Country no me convenç, avorrit
Much country, on ma face a bounty Every song follows the same recipe
Not really my style, but I liked the title track
yehaaah 🤠
Ech be halt ned work e Folk/Countrymusig Hörer. Trotzdem geds emmer weder Banger, woni I dem Albom ned work gfonde ha.
Not my thing, but very peaceful
If I had nothing better to do, I might have enjoyed this. 2 stars.
Pretty dull and not for me. Background at best 2
Time of the Preacher // Red Headed Stranger // 2.5/5
Not really a huge WN fan.
Starts of ok, but then just descends into mumbling country twaddle.
I've never been a fan or country music so this was always going to be a tough listen. I had to persevere through multiple listens to find something to like. I missed the extent of the storytelling at first; I just zoned out due to the minimalist instrumentals. This is the redeeming feature for me but my mind on country music remains unchanged.
The countriest of country music. Not my thing
A little slow for me, and I couldn't really get into it
Ehhh, not a fan of this kind of music but its not bad or anything. It's what I'd expect to hear in a sad country movie or something. Down Yonder is pretty decent.
Obviously talented, but not my cup of tea.
Country Schmalz ...
2.5. Not my thing.
Such a well thought out concept, too bad i don’t like this music at all
Mid
not bad music, but just not what I like
J - 2/5 Best Track - "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain" F - DNL
Mir reichts. Ich will keinen langweiligen Country mehr
It was fine. Didn’t really grab me
Not for me
A bit meh.
What’s the fucking point of this? I’m serious. Just half an hour of ‘country songs’ - that literally describes the whole album. Absolutely pointless. 2 stars because it didn’t actively irritate me but that is generous.
A bit boring
Definitely not my genre, i do not like country, but it was good for a country album, good vocals
It was nice, didn't grab me though. Title track was good. Not sure about his voice
Last song is beautiful, rest is pretty boring honestly, flows well from one to another but zzzzz
Not a big fan of country, but liked one or two songs enough to make this 2 stars. It doesn’t seem bad or anything, just not my cup of tea personally
never listened to willie nelson before, at least now i know that i‘m not a willie nelson fan
I'm not a country fan.
Loved that each track flowed into one another. Made it hard to highlight a single track though. It’s fine. Not for me
ambient
still not a country fan. coming back to this review after listening to stardust is interesting. Would I listen again: No Deserves to be on this list: Just keep Stardust 1.5

That was alright. Love the simplicity of the arrangements so that the vocal and story telling was crystal clear. A very high 2
I dont really like this genre of music. Id give the album like 3/10 I don't really like this type of country music.
I rate blue eyes crying in the rain a 2 star because I don't like contry and there aren't many instruments ⭐⭐. I rate well I cant believe its true a 2 star because I don't like contry and there aren't many instruments ⭐⭐. I rate true of the perchered a 2 star because I don't like contry and there aren't many instruments ⭐⭐.
the first song is okay the second song is worse I don't like it at all the voice sounds weird
I think the cover is interesting. I thought "Blue Eyes Crying in The Rain" was okay. I liked the guitar music. The lyrics were okay. "I Couldn't Believe It" sounded pretty much the same to me but it was better. I thought "Time of The Preacher" was okay. I liked this song best. I wouldn't recommend this album.
Probably great in Red Dead Redemption, but I feel too young for that stuff
The guy is a legend but didn’t get much from this album. Was shocked that this was his 18th album until reading that he just released his 153rd album.
Good voice, no exceptional good songs for me
Nice voice but very boring
Quite boring
Pleasant but nothing really stood out to me.
This album has a sort of minimalistic and calming feel, despite the lyrics being about a murderer apparently. I don't see myself listening to this one again though.
Idk I didn’t listen to the lyrics and it’s a concept album I think so I probs missed a bit
Sorry, but these mellow country tunes are not my cup of tea...
Good country. I should revisit when I'm in a better headspace.
I’ve started to like country music more. This is the type of country music I didn’t like that held me back. It’s just not good.
Country music ok
5/10
4/10 - the red headed stranger was a crazy song. It sounds like most of the other country albums. But this time I wasn’t in the mood for it
Yeeeeeeeee haw. But unironically its... alright.
This must be a classic country album. I found it ok never been a fan of the genre and I found it kind of hard to get through but it had some interesting parts.
Not my bag
Canonical country. In the context of all the other albums, it's pretty clear that Willie is just twangy + crooner. I say "just", but he really nailed it. It is earnest and simple in a way that's unfortunately hard for me to appreciate these days, so hard to go beyond two stars. Nonetheless, I respect Willie a lot, and believe he's a national treasure.
Respect, even tho this ain't my jam
I think I liked it, but I'm not really a huge fan of this era of country. I respect Nelson, but I don't tend to like his music, which is interesting, because recently, he's been endorsing and elevating some of the best of country, like Kacey Musgraves, Brandi Carlile, and Orville Peck.
Tämän musiikin tarkoituksena on säestää tarinaa standardisoitunein keinoin, mikä ei saa kuulijaa kiinnostumaan tarinasta. Artisti tosin tulkitsee poikkeuksellisen hyvin.
I get why Robert Redford said no.
Blues, Country, 1975 -> 2
Better than I thought it’d be
Yes, Willie Nelson is an icon, but this album just sounds like the same song 15 times over - that would be too much, even if I liked the song. 2/5
Country ain't my thing but if I were to listen to it this would be it.
Red Headed Stranger is just another country album with all the quirks and flaws that come with most albums of the genre in my eyes. The album itself sounded pleasant enough and never really got unbearably bad to listen to (aside from that weird horn noise that most country albums use that i just don't like hearing all that much). But the album just hardly deviates from it's own formula or tries enough different things with each song which causes nearly all of them to sound the same. I also think that the songs end too quickly and unnaturally to the point where i have to check the tab the song was playing on in order to see if i was on a new song or not. This album isn't bad but it's not very great either. Best Song: Down Yonder Worst Song: O'er the Waves
Wish I liked his music cause he's a cool dude
Very slow in parts. It's fine if boring in parts. This is my second Willie Nelson album. I preferred Stardust. This is nowhere near terrible, but I doubt I will come back to it.
Great skill undeniably but you could never convince me country music isn't cartoon music
First Willie Nelson album that pops up. It ain't "bad" at all, but like with many of the english speaking folk artists, my permanent impression is something close to "meh". Don't wanna be disrespectful, but being honest, could have had more fun sucking a nail. Not my cup of tea
It’s country, so there’s a pretty set ceiling on how much I like it, but fairly enjoyable all things considered
I went into this album expecting to not like it even though I didn't have much prior Willie experience. I was correct
Agree that the other Willie album was better.
Grad lust in Alabama paar UFOs mit minere Shotgun us mim Pickup go jage und ahschlüssend ane QAnon Konferenz z gah. Yee ha!
han mich wäred em lose schüch rasistisch gfühlt, keih ahnig warum aber ich glaub das hetts so ah sich trotzdem nume zwei sterne wells irgendwie keim banger gha hett
min innere country boy isch doch nöd so fescht gweckt worde wieni erwartet han… chönt aber au dra ligge dasi's in züri im büro glost han und nöd ufere ranch in texas struggle zwüsched 2 & 3 stern
The man can tell a story, I'll say that. This album will make you feel like you're next to a campfire using yer boots as a pillow. The right mix of sleepy stories and knee-slapping strings. I liked the closer, it's a nice combination of piano and harmonica but overall the album is a little bland. I'll give it a 1.55.
Everyone has heard of Willie and I had yet to hear a song of his. Took 18 albums for him to get on the map and this one landed right in the heart of Texas. It's got some old country cowboy tunes that would work in any saloon. A lot of shorties (thankfully). It's better than some others from the genre on the for sure but this is from the 70s. I bet his earlier albums get pretty honky. I don't think I will ever be that into country music. Just not my can a beans...1.6.
I respect Willie and his songwriting talent, but at the end of the day it's still country music and not my cup of tea.
