Reviews (page 9 of 14)

It's an interesting album, but in my opinion there is nothing really noteworthy. I do like it better than my previous Beatles album, Rubber soul.

Sgt. Pepper doesn’t really have a dud track - or atleast not one I noticed. Whilst I have favourite Beatles tracks that don’t appear here, I think this is possibly their most complete and well rounded album. Great stuff.

It seems weird that this used to top so many polls of the greatest album of all time when it's definitely not their best. Maybe you had to be there when it was first released to get the impact.

Honestly I find the Beatles difficult. I don't know if its just my aversion to things that are overly praised or popular, or if they are just a bit too of their time (although I like lots of 60s stuff). I have to give this album credit though. Its hard not to like it just a little bit.

Toll catchy

Bonàs vibras

What a band, what an album. Would be a 5/5 if not for within you without you.

Good album, love Rubber Soul more.

I like the white album better but this is still decent

such a classic, i think its my dads favorite (?) Beatles album and that makes sense to me

Track one - 7/10 Track two - 8/10 Track three - 7.5/10 Track four - 5/10 Track Five - 9/10 Track Six - 10/10 Track Seven - 7.5/10 Track Eight - 4/10 Track Nine - 6/10 Track Ten - 7/10 Track Eleven - 5/10 Track Twelve - 7/10 Track Thirteen - 9/10 overall - 8/10 **wanted to give a detailed explanation, but its 1;30am lol**

At this time I’m not feeling Sgt Peppers as much as I used to. I think it’s too theatrical/goofy for me at times. As a whole it’s obviously an impressive accomplishment but I’m not reaching for this over Abbey Road or Revolver right now. A Day in the Life is still an all time fave.

I’m still not a huge Beatles fan, but this is one of their albums that I prefer slightly more. It sits somewhere between a 3 and 4 for me, but giving it 3 feels too low when an album was this influential.

I didn’t have time to listen to this yesterday but I had listened to it a couple months ago and i guess this feels like a good score for it

Obviously amazing.

The essence of the time, every bit as weird as it is rad

Yeah really good, a bit whimsical in places but better than the White Album, not as good as Abbey Road.

amazing

Tough one, I'm not a massive Beatles person. I don't hate it, and really like some of their stuff. This is not my favorite of their albums, despite it's undeniable groundbreaking sound and form. It starts and finishes so strong, but I just can't get into the meat of the album. Everything between "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and the title track reprise is just a little goofy. Some Beatle's music is timeless, but a lot of this isn't It's an album that one should listen to before dying, probably multiple times, but not my favorite. I've probably heard it enough by now. I can just listen to the good songs from now on. 4 stars, too much filler for me, as wild an argument as that is.

Reminds me of "Under Covers - Frank Popp Ensemble" featuring a song by whitey.

Really debated between a 3 or 4 here, but will go with a 4 due to it's historical significance and impact to music. It's a good album with a bunch of good songs, a nice variety and a cohesive concept. But its not my favourite Beatles project and there's some meh tracks along the way.

A bit short but a wonderful album

The Beatles just had the sauce. Extremely well written songs, and very progressive and experimental for its time. I love this album, though it does sound dated. There’s been nearly 60 years of evolution in the rock and roll genre, so it’s not the album’s fault.

Very good, but It didn't have Eleanor Rigby, we all live in a yellow submarine, or some other classics. definitely loved the album and they're the beatles for a reason. But I can't give it a 5.

It's one of the most beloved Beatles albums. And I think its reputation is deserved. Does it hold up as strongly in 2026, after so many decades of music influenced by it? Maybe not. I didn't grow up with the Beatles. And despite buying the iTunes complete collection when it came out, the Beatles never really made it into my regular rotation. But damn, compared to the rest of the 60s albums I’ve listened to, this must have been a revelation! And it’s still extremely listenable today! I can’t ignore that. 8/10 Most Excellent (As an aside, it’s funny to watch the consistency in the arguments about the Beatles on the Internet. The same fight between the folks who claim “The Beatles are sacred! All their songs must be 10/10!” and those who say they’re overrated, happens here and over on Radio Paradise. Some things never change!)

This is my 3rd favourite Beatles album, there’s much of it I love, some though I really don’t, but. Great album never the less.

Abbey road better

Fun listen, felt like it flew by! I've heard a lot of weird music in this giant albums collection, and this one sometimes falls under the category of "silly" weird if that makes sense. I'd be curious to go through this another few times and pick apart what's going on from track to track; it's difficult to pin that down in a first listen. This was a pleasant experience!

Really cool to listen to the full album, there were so many songs I hadn’t heard before. Some kinda weird ones but even those sounded pretty good

4 1/2 Stars: All these years I thought this was a kooky mish-mash of sounds and noises, and to my surprise actually sitting down to listen to Sgt. Pepper's it's a pretty standard record with great hits and lyrics and fun and the shifting music types isn't as jarring as I was expecting. Another hit record for one of the greats!

One of my favorite Beatles albums but not quite a 5 for me. Couple songs get a little too weird and are misses. Fave songs: LSD, she’s leaving home, a day in the life

Classic.

Biitlid jõudsid natuke seeni võtta ja india kultuuri kogeda. Tulemuseks plaat, kus on küll häid lugusid peal ja 3-5 väga tugevat pala, aga vahepeal on album pigem taustamuusika. 1967. a kohta ikka vägev muusika. 3.8/5

nothing is left unsaid about this album. though i could say i used to love and praise this album way more when i wasn't listening to much music in general.

It's impossible to separate this album from its historical importance; however, historical importance is not something I generally think about when judging whether or not an album is enjoyable to listen to. So, I take this exactly as I would any other album, at face value. The next thing I have to say is that although I love the Beatles and many of their songs, I'm not sure any of their albums would be in my top 100. Although I've never broken it down to "John" songs and "Paul" songs (and George songs and Ringo songs), I suspect it's because I don't like the unabashedly poppy songwriting of Paul McCartney (although he is a great player). I don't take any joy in pitting the members against each other; after all, it takes all four to make the final product and they all ostensibly agreed as to what the band's output would sound like. But it must be said. Now, with all of that out of the way, the album. I don't normally go song by song, but— in my opinion, the following songs are good but nothing special: Getting Better, Fixing a Hole, She's Leaving Home, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!, and Lovely Rita. The rest of the songs are all great (good job, lads) and Within You Without You is easily my favorite track on the album. Cheers and good night.

8.0/10 Some classic Beatles tunes on this one

Some seminal albums just don’t pass the test of time and stay relevant - this is not one of those albums. Still fresh and enjoyable.

Might be the most British sounding album I have ever listened to. Enjoying it a lot tho, its fun and weird and Im here for it. If I were to smoke weed and/or do shrooms I would do it while listening to this album. 8.5/10

I'm not usually massive fan of Beatles albums, but this was OK. Lots of stuff I knew, not too long, not too odd, and not too much filler. I guess that it's my favourite Beatles album from this project so far.

Better x

It has some great moments (a day in the life is magnificent). However, there are some songs which are just a bit basic (a little help, when I’m 64), which no amount of clever production and harmony can cover. It feels like a bit of a regression after Revolver.

Helpful to have listened to this relatively soon after Revolver. There are some excellent moments on this too (‘she’s leaving home’ and ‘within you, without you’ stood out for me this listen) but also some slightlier twee numbers that killed the mood a little for me. Still, must have been hugely ambitious at the time and crams a lot in over its 40 minute span.

pretty catchy, but not my favorite Beatles album

Funny how time changes perception. I used to agree that this was one of the most creative and groundbreaking albums of all time, and that made it a masterpiece. Now I'm not so sure about the masterpiece part, although it remains incredibly original and genre-breaking. Listening to the Beatles' whole catalog straight through, it's obvious that they became better and better songwriters. At the same time, their albums become less and less coherent products of a band, and more collections of songs by individuals working independently. Sgt Pepper is the album where the coherent band starts to come apart. Lots of good and original songs, but as an album it's kind of broad and random. Good on the Beatles for doing whatever they wanted, but they don't effectively tie it together, the whole Sgt Pepper conceit notwithstanding.

It may not be my absolute Beatles favorite but its close

Underbart underligt.

fakta: alla beatleshaters älskar det här albumet

Yeah yeah we get it they’re good I guess

Weirdly good

I can see how this is a classic. LUCY IN THE SKYYY WITH DIAMONDSSS!

Can’t believe how many people think this is the best Beatles album. Too much novelty shit like When I’m 64 and Good Morning Good Morning. Does however say a lot for The Beatles that this is only their 5th best album and it still scores a 4/5

vintage vibes, makes anybody move, good mood, harmonies oml

Surprisingly captivated! Listened at work so a little choppy. The critiques from lower reviews I've read seem valid, but it was incredible to listen and understand how directly this album influenced music for decades come. Very fun, doesn't seem to take itself too seriously. Favorite Song: Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Phenomenal. i rlly like these songs, especially day in the life.

Note : 4 À réécouter : Oui

Love the eclecticism; interesting lyrics spanning a variety of topics

solid and fun listen for the first time digging into the beatles. i really liked a day in the life, she's leaving home, and lucy in the sky with diamonds (fave).

This was the first full album that I’ve listened to by the Beatles, and it did not disappoint. It’s smooth, relaxing yet enrapturing melodies created a series of really nice songs. This isn’t really my favorite genre, which is probably why I still didn’t like it as much as most, but even I really liked this album.

It's rare that an album makes me change my score on a different album, but I think I might go back and give Rubber Soul a 5 star rating after this. I was sort of saving the 5 star for this album, but frankly this is a perfectly solid, mid to high 4. Some great tracks, some mediocre tracks, a decent concept, but not much that blew me away. Favorite Track: A Day in the Life

undeniable

it's always a fun listen.

Love the sound design exploration on Beatles albums, even to this day things still surprise me Favorite song: A Day In The Life

Not much to say about this that hasn't already been said. "She Is Leaving" is the only blemish on it for me. Cloying and maudlin and really out of place on this album.

I mean, its the Beatles, what more is there to say?

It was a little all over the place, but it was nice. I liked the story behind the album.

Great album overall. It has some classics that everyone knows: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and With A Little Help From My Friends. Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds and A Day In The Life are two of my favorite Beatles songs. Within You Without You is the only dud on the album in my opinion.

This is, objectively, such a weird fucking album. I say this with love, as a fan of the Beatles. I’m a huge fan of bands making whatever the hell they want, and I think this is probably one of the first instances of a band taking true creative and artistic freedom and running with it. As an album it does feel rather disjointed, and I freely admit it’s not my favourite Beatles record, but there are a number of really fantastic songs in this one. I don’t remember the last time I actually sat down and listened to this record start to finish, and I’m glad I did it again, but I don’t think I will be doing it again anytime soon. It’s just hard to beat albums like Rubber Soul and Help! when I want a Beatles fix. 4*

This is the first time I’ve listened to this album in full in a long time and I have to admit, for the way my opinion on the Beatles has largely soured in the past ~10-15 years, there is more to like in this album than I expected to find. To start with the negative: for its reputation as a groundbreaking album that crystallized the height of psychedelia in the anglosphere and is sometimes described as proto-progressive, there are a lot of songs that have an ultimately really boring 60s pop-rock structure. “With A Little Help From My Friends”, “Getting Better”, and “When I’m Sixty-Four” are the most obvious offenders. The chorus of “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds” falls in this category as well. Also John Lennon’s line about how he “used to be” “cruel” to his woman… 😒🤨 That being said there are several songs that are interesting, enjoyable, and when considered in the context of 1967, pretty novel I guess. “She’s Leaving Home”, “Within You Without You”, and “A Day In the Life” are the highlights of the album. The remainder of the tracks are alright. The production is clearly influenced by albums like ‘Freak Out!’ and ‘Pet Sounds’, which were both released just the year before. So while I don’t think this album was necessarily breaking new ground for the entire music world, it was definitely doing some new things for the Beatles, and I suppose it’s pretty bold to make such a radical departure from your image when you’re that popular and pursue something more experimental simply because that’s what you want to do artistically. This is definitely a top 5 Beatles album, but not a top 3.

I know, I know, the greatest album of all time. But I don't have the historical context of how groundbreaking it was. Still great obviously

So many memorable cuts and also so much silliness. Iconic.

Such a strong start with the first 4 songs being absolute classics. It then falls off a cliff from tracks 5 - 12 with "Day in the life" saving the album. 3.6 rounded up to a 4.

soargent peppers loanlee hart club band

good shit

album cover insane so gotta give them that I am collecting these beatle or beatle adjacent albums like infinity stones. I feel like this website feels my neutrality to them and wants to prove me wrong. Its not gonna work.

Good but doesn't live up to it's into

Just resonates with me, maybe the beatles just work better on acid

The OG album to listen to while high. Can definitely hear the influences it had on later psych music in some parts of it still. Billy Shear was Pauls replacement right?

What can you say about this record that hasn't already been said? It's got color and personality, it's overflowing with melody and inventive harmonies, and it stands head and shoulders above the crowd of psychedelic wannabes from the late 60's. The bizarro mix that pushes the vocals into one channel or the other can be forgiven (given the technical constraints at time) but one glaring thing cannot: the stinker called "Within You Without You" that sits smack dab in the middle of this album. It doesn't hold a candle to the other tracks on the record, it doesn't fit in with tone of the album and George Harrison was certainly capable of so much better.

I did enjoy the show! It did drag just a bit in the middle

Beatles good

A little more than 20% into this list and I have had a good amount of albums from the Beatles and their former members. 1 Lennon album, the sole George Harrison record, both McCartney records (w & wo Wings), and now my second Beatles album, which I believe puts me exactly halfway through the combined catalogs on this list. This is definitely an excellent album, especially when you see how far they grew as artists vs. their first record included (With The Beatles). That said, though it is critically revered, it doesn't quite reach the levels of George Harrison's All Things Must Pass album for me. There's a lot of great tracks on here, no doubt. The Title track, With A Little Help From My Friends, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, and my personal favorite A Day in the Life all are tremendous songs, going a long way towards showing how much more sophisticated their sound became as a band. There are multiple layers to all of these songs, tempo and key changes, etc. Really demonstrates how good a set of songwriters they were as well. 30m+ people can't be wrong, of course. Still, there are points on this album which aren't close to the highs of some of the rest of it. Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite, Lovely Rita, and Fixing A Hole being chief among the songs which aren't that great. In the end, while great, this doesn’t sum up to an amazing 5-star album for me. Still, it’s very good and a worthy inclusion.

This was great, I had heard this a while back but I appreciated it a lot more this time around. I like the idea of a fictional band where they feel they can experiment more. I liked the topics they covered lyrically, and I thought the themes of loneliness and escapism were explored really creatively. The emotional core hit surprisingly hard on this album with songs like She’s Leaving Home and A Day In The Life. Especially A Day In The Life, which is such an interesting song, with the way it pits John and Paul’s worldviews against each other. Beyond all that the music is just really fun and creative and is a great quick listen. Loved this.

So much has been said about this. Obviously the praise is deserved and it's influence undoubteable. But you could also make an argument that 'A Day in the Life' is the only truly great song on here. If I'm putting a Beatles album on, it's almost never this one.

Impossible to listen with fresh ears

Started off really strong but after song 5 it kind of trails off down hill quickly. I feel as though this was a result of drugs and a product for drugs. The first half has so many hits it's hard not to rate this fairly high. 3.7 outta 5

I had a good time, but realised I just enjoy quite some other Beatles albums better than this one

Great album, much more electric than I expected. I want to relisten to it, and go over more of their discography. 4,4/5.

I love The Beatles, I have several albums but not this one. As a matter of fact I had never listened to this one, just heard several songs from the album. Anything from The Beatles is great.

I didn’t want to like it because I think the Beatles are so absurdly overrated but I can’t deny that this is a genuinely good album. Good songs and fun music throughout.

A Classic, so good.

I mean it’s the beatles…

the start and end of this album is so fun, like a real show. the animals in good morning good morning!! + love the song titles and has an incredible album cover -favourite tracks: WHEN I’M SIXTY FOUR and SHE’S LEAVING HOME and A DAY IN THE LIFE

8/10 Favourite: Lucy in the Sky wth Diamonds Least Favourite: Good Morning Good Morning

Listened in the morning. Then I watched the full animated dvd film in the evening. They saved pepper land from the blue meanies and Glove 🧤 And they did it with music and love, and the word yes instead of no. Hurray!

I love Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds :)) Realized I've never actually listened to this all the way through. Fun and dreamy and psychedelic.

Really fantastic album!!! 4.5

Obviously a legendary album, peak of the counterculture and lyrically potent in its own right. Lacking in a bit of meat - I do find that the middle of the album is largely filler and nothing comes close to A Day in the Life, debatably one of the most influential and critical songs of all time. Favourite Tracks: With a Little Help from my friends, Fixing a Hole, Mr. Kite, Day in the Life I can do without the others, and that includes Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, which is actually my least favourite on the album. Still, it flows really nicely and of course the highs are stratospheric.

As an album experience, wonderful. It's my understanding this is one of the first 'concept' albums and is reputable for changing how music records could be experienced. There were a lot of times I rewinded to hear parts of a song again, it's charismatic and emotional and wonderfully arranged with the wide variety of orchestration and genres it takes on. A Day in the Life is the perfect album closer.

Favourite(s): She’s leaving Home, Being for the benefit of mr kite!, A day in the life Least favourite(s): Within you without you

Very good. Low expectations. Ht really enjoyed it

The difference some drugs make

Fair enough Beatles, you were pretty good

Finally, the Beatles have been introduced to psychadelics

dobar, lagan, znala sam dosta pisama od prije zbog musapstanskih koncerata (tnx perincici <3); al nije neki bas moj zvuk i dalje, ne virujen da cu postat beatles girllll

they reached their full level of whismy with this album favorite tracks: lucy in the sky with diamonds with a little help from my friends when i’m sixty-four a day in the life

Ah yes, the famous record, often regarded by various outlets as one of the greatest- if not the greatest album of all time. This I never understood, it's got variety sure. Has one of the great album closers. One of the earliest concept albums too, but for me it's too uneven to be anywhere near a "perfect" album.

Love this album

4 stars only because it’s not in my personal top3 beatles albums - would be an obvious 5 from any other artist.

I will grow to love this one

Not my favorite Beatles album, but still great in parts.

Expected to like it more than I did. Obviously was groundbreaking at the time, but didn't find it as good as some of the other albums from that era.

Obviously. A classic

Classic album

Obsessed with their creativity - the classics are obviously wonderful but also Within You Without You???

different than other songs i’ve heard by the beatles. more fun and obviously this album was known for being recorded and written on hallucinogenics.

Way wierder than i remembered. Has classics though.

Another strong release from The Beatles. There’s a lot of creativity on display, with several truly classic tracks. My least favourite is probably Within You Without You — not a bad song by any means, but it does come across as a bit pretentious and drags on longer than it needs to.

I can't believe this is the first Beatles' album I listen to, it's quite shameful. I liked it very much, I loved the intro song. I do think I got bored at one point though.

Once it was this, now its still revolver I think, or pet sounds for the try-hards. This one really does work as a concept, though I can't see how the sitar one or numerous others actually fit, the listening experience certainly does. I probably would only listen to some of these songs in this context though...

When I was young, I didn't care for this album when it first came out as it was so different than what I was used to from the Beatles. As I'm older now, there are several songs which I can appreciate. Best song: "When I'm 64" and worst song: "Within You, Without You" as those sitars were making my back teeth ache.

I love Sgt Peppers, but I will admit it can be a bit overrated. Like so many good songs like Lucy in the Sky and a day in the life, but also just a bunch of skips like good morning and when I’m 64 A good album, a great album, but not their best

Everything was great with the exception of Getting Better! Didn’t love the lyrics, and think Lennon should’ve kept some of that to himself.

The beginning of the downfall, although a lot of the songs are just so catchy. Within Without You is a travesty. 4/5

Classic album. Day in the life is one of my favorite Beatles songs. Getting a little on the psychedelic side.

It's good, but not without filler (Fixing a Hole, Mr Kite!, Good Morning). Luckily, being the 60s, the filler songs are not overly long. Lucy, With a Little Help from My Friends and the title track are all amazing, and there is some whimsy in Rita and 64. And A Day In The Life will always rank as one of the greatest pop songs ever, for me at least. If some of the filler was more compelling, this would be an easy 5. But only a 4 from me, in spite of its reputation.

A classic, fantastic record. Not much else to be said; it's the Beatles.

Album No. 0084 on my list. What do you say about this album? The album that changed the whole concept of what an album is? The most important album of all time? What is there to review even? Well, first of all, I’m not its biggest fan. It’s not the greatest Beatles album in my opinion. Not by a long shot. But it’s still a pretty good one - and besides, one has to recognize its importance while reviewing it. The first tracks are actually among my favorite Beatles songs: the title track, and “With A Little Help From My Friends”, the latter being my actual favorite of this album and definitely the best Ringo song. Afterwards, the song quality decreases a bit. I’ve never been a big fan of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, and the tracks that follow aren’t as good as well. I like “Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!”, though, and “When I’m Sixty Four” is a fine song as well. The other songs are less good, and I really don’t like “Within You Without You”. You know, I get why them going to India was important for the Beatles (and for music history overall), but I just don’t enjoy the immediate results. Anyway, the album finishes strongly with “A Day In The Life”, making this a solid album where the highlights outweigh the lows and which gets bonus points for its influence. 4/5 stars.

Overall Rating - 4.00/5 (8.00/10). When Lennon and McCartney heard "Pet Sounds," they heard the gauntlet being thrown down. This was their response. The couple of weak songs in the middle dragged the rating down lower than I thought it would be.

Goood! Sillay

I'd never heard this before, but I knew all the songs. If I'd been old enough to buy this on the day it came out, would I have been impressed? Probably! Has it aged well? Mostly! Bravo to those talented moptops!

Melodinga.

How have I got this far in life without listening to this in full?!

Hjalp ikkje på intervallene mine, men nice album uansett

Solid album.

Would not buy

First three tracks listened together is extremely euphoric, amazingly transitions with great crescendos and so on, really amazing album. 4.5

The album was good, but I think it's overrated. It's a fun album with good music, but I don't have any desire to listen again.

I am disappointed from my own ignorance. I thought Strawberry Fields Forever was on this album. Oops. Well it was a big mistake not to include it and Penny Lane on the album replacing some more, shall I say, boring inclusions. The highs of this album are great though. Psychedelic rock is one of my favorite genres and this definitely was a good album. There just is not really a standout song. I think maybe if I were to listen to some songs more, I could really love this album.

After being pleasantly surprised by an extraordinary rendition of 'with a little help from my friends' (, which I truly thought was written by Joe Cocker,) of course after came 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds'. It was 8 o'clock in the morning and the railroadcrossing on my way to work just wouldn't open. I was slowly dozing off when I heard the melodic intro and I closed my eyes. The first thing I remember after is hearing the line "picture yourself on a train in a station" after which I opened my eyes and got to witness a train passing by that looked like it was transported from the sixties in front of a beautiful colourful sunrise. A very special moment that felt like the Beatles had had painted this scene especially for me. After such an experience it is of course difficult for the rest of the album to stand out. Yet I did find 'she's leaving home' and 'a day in the life' to be very pretty, 'When I'm sixty four' and 'fixing a hole' were very fun and 'within you without you' was absolutely fantastic. John Lennon apparently claims that Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and the album in general don't have anything to do with LSD but this was such a rollercoaster of emotions that you could just as well open this album cover instead of an enveloppe.

First time I listen to an entire Beatles album and I must say I like it quite a lot, I like the album journey. Lucy in the sky is such a classic of course but the other songs are good too. I would give 3.75 stars if I could.

I'm not a Beatles fan, but don't think I had ever listened to this album all the way through before. Honestly it exceeded expectations. The 2017 Mix helped bring this album to good headphone listening experiences (more evened across L/R). "Within You Without You" was my favorite - a tasteful mix of Beatles + South Asian influences. Never thought I'd give a Beatles album 4 stars but here we are -- above expectations.

Undeniable classic, I do like a few other Beatles albums more though as I don't find this one to be consistently from front to back

Banget tras banger.

can’t believe i actually listened to a beatles album interesting … and good 👍 some bangers

A solid collection of bangers but not exactly a cohesive album. I can see how this below a couple of minds when it first came out.

Great album. Not listened to for a while

I didn't grow up listening to The Beatles like a lot of my contemporaries, and I always had an inversion towards them because of my difference. But you have to give credit where credit is due. 4 stars.

Memories of getting stoned off my tits in my younger days.

classic.

Simply lovely

Really?

I was slightly filled with dread when I saw this one on the list. Where do you start? I love The Beatles, but I've never really loved this album. The problem is, this is kind of the album equivalent of Star Wars. Hugely cultural impact, touchstone for a generation etc etc - but if you look at it objectively, actually quite clunky and flawed. The drugs and egos were taking their toll at this point, and the quality control had started to slip. Lots of filler (including the much-loved but actually not that great 'Lucy...' - that chorus is terrible). The whole 'concept' thing is a complete red herring. But the good bits are good, and A Day in the LIfe is astonishing - I'm sure much of the album's reputation comes from the sheer impact that track leaves people with at the end. It's the Beatles, so I can't give it less than a 4, but also it's just not solid enough for a 5. Also bear in mind that on the same scale, Revolver is at least a 10...

Really winsome and whimsical with some total bangers and excellent George Martinning

One of the most important albums of all time, so I feel almost guilty to not give it full marks, but I just can't. The beginning is just excellent and 'With a Little Help From My Friends' is one of my personal favorite Beatles tracks. However the middle part is just a bit weaker to me, with the low point being 'Within You Without You'. It just sounds annoying to me. The ending is strong again, however there are just a couple too many points in the album I did not really enjoy to give it the highest rating. 4/5

This is probably the easiest Beatles album we've had to listen to even if you don't like them. This is the archetypical thing you think of when you hear the name "Beatles". It's got full on pop music, the beginnings of their experimentation with south asian music, lyrical goofiness, lyrical seriousness, etc. It's all very Beatles. I'm not their biggest fan, but I dont dislike them either. I think this is a good album but I also don't think it's this grand masterpiece. It is fun to listen to and it has some genuinely great songs (With A Little Help, Lucy, A Day In The Life). The other tracks are good fun and there's a lot of varied instrumentation to keep it fresh (Within You Without You, Good Morning Good Morning). Not much else to say, it belongs on this list for the lasting impact it had on popular music and for being the zenith of the particular style and bedrock for a lot of things to come.

Love the vibe

I saw George Martin speak about making this record, once. Cheap Trick played.

George, please I beg you, drop the Sitars, they're not cool at all. Probably Lennon's strongest crop of songwriting contributions to a Beatles album in my opinion. 4 Stars, whats comes later is better.

This was fun, and I always appreciate Harrison squeezing his sitar revelations into Beatles albums

Nicht so 100% mein Ding.

This is the first full album I’ve listened to after knowing them for a while through their compilation albums, and I can say this is the first time I’ve really appreciated them beyond the impression that they’re just a pop band for teenyboppers. Favorite tracks: Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, With A Little Help From My Friends, When I'm Sixty Four

The Beatles won the popularity contest so everyone knows their songs. They are really fun to sing along to, and this album is full of the catchy memorable stuff. I'd argue the songs that aren't singles are often even better than the radio play. The album is well produced in every sense, but especially in that it all ties together from beginning to end, it really does feel like a project, however dated it might sound. They're not the first and they're not the last to make a simple catchy track, but they're definitely some of the most covered, it's like the sound was built to add onto it later. After hearing and loving a lot of that, it's nice to catch up with the source material. Can you believe fake McCartney really thinks Lucy in the Sky isn't about acid? 4.3/5

I am perplexed as to how this is one of the most famous albums ever of all time ever. It’s good, the Beatles are undeniable, but this is a lot weaker than some other Beatles entries. Never really been a Lucy in the sky fan personally, doesn’t do much for me. This whole album is sort of like the bad drug stereotype of “haha so random Mr beluga is trumpeting!!!!” tripping and I don’t love it. A day in the life is a masterpiece though. Despite me not vibing fully with this it’s still a musical achievement and deserving of at least a 4.

There's nothing left to say about any Beatles album, but ESPECIALLY Sgt. Pepper's. To me, it sounds like a more focused White Album, and like every Beatles album, I appreciate it more than I actually enjoy it. At least this one felt like less of a chore than the White Album. These days I'm most struck by how heartbreaking "She's Leaving Home" is, probably because I'm the parent of a daughter. And, you know, "A Day in the Life" is a masterpiece, yada yada.

This is #day438 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and… I read the news today, oh boy! It's rather hard to approach this record without a bit of prejudice. I mean, "all-time classic," "an early concept album," "one of the most definining records of the 1967," and all that jazz... Musically, it's a fascinating album, and I bet they had a blast in the studio. "With a Little Help From My Friends," "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," "When I'm Sixty-Four," and "A Day in the Life" are my highlights. It's probably my first time listening to it front to back, but I can confidently say this is the kind of Beatles I'm after. This is a 4 out of 5. Looking forward to #day439.

A Day In The Life - 7/10 (Album Rating - 7.5/10 - I don't listen to The Beatles often, but I was pleasantly surprised with this album. They have very soft and soothing vocals, giving me Oasis vibes (who I absolutely love), so I will definitely like to listen to more of their music. The songs have very cool and different instrumentations and beats which is my favourite feature of songs, so very cool album!!

Not their best imo but groovy enough

This album explains a lot as it leads to the Beatles. There is a new sound there are different rhythms. There are different feelings from song this song I understand why so many people like this album

Incredible, very trippy, some very cool bass lines that I never noticed until this listen

Personally this is my least favorite Beatles album

Klassiks

Not the best but damn it’s good!!! I was super excited when this popped up. Just one note: add the “The”

i have a disease called 'the-beatles-comes-on-and-i-start-crying-itis' and i need to go to psychoanalysis to cure myself

This has always been a mixed bag for me but overall its pretty fantastic. Many of the Beatles best songs are on here, most notably "A Day In The Life" which is just unbelievably good. One of their very best. On the flipside, I think that "Lovely Rita" might be my least favorite Beatles song. That one actually pisses me off for some reason. Thats the only real stinker though, otherwise its nothing but classics. Not my favorite Beatles album, but always a treat to revisit. Favorite track: A Day In The Life

💛🩷🩵❤️

Better than most Beatles, I actually enjoyed listening through it. Some of these songs deserve their spot as a classic.

Once they went to studio-only, the Beatles changed entirely, and they could never be compared to any other 60s band, because their focus was experimenting with sound in ways nobody else could replicate. It created fantastic music but also a strange detachment. You hear it on Sgt. Pepper: songs stretching out their drug-fueled explorations and indulgences. And the pull of their own interests beginning to pull the band apart. I mean, it’s a fucking brilliant album of course.

I really wasn't feeling this album much at all but then A Day In The Life came on and smote my questionable opinion. 4.14/5

Love the Beatles !

Interesting experimental phase, though arguably some of their weakest songwriting. Within You Without You is still my favorite Beatles song

The Beatles are getting a little weird and a little wild with this record. It's not my favourite Beatles record, but it's good. Favourite Track(s): With a Little Help From My Friends, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, A Day in the Life Least Favourite Track(s): Within You Without You

Good album, but the Beatles have better

An incredible 8th Beatles album, the first half take you to a grounded feel of companionship and sweet songs to listen to, the start of the second half deviates from the rock/pop feel and then brings you back to the fantasy and ground you once again with A Day In The Life. Production astounding and lyrics very good as always. A great record to own.

Not their best but still really good

Title track - can't go WRONG. A Little Help From My Friends - a bit plodding but sure look; what a nice message...(if friends) or a reasonable one (if drugs). Lucy In The Sky with Diamonds - classic. Getting Better - so uplifting. Love "be hiding me head" and the humour in "can't get no worse". Always loved the repeating note at the end - wish it went on longer. Fixing A Hole - Love that it goes from simple to trippy on "where it will goooooo". She's Leaving Home - love the mysterious quality to the lyrics and that nothing's said outright, and the sense of dread throughout. Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite - I always like ominous circus music; I mean, I loved Dagmar Krause from this list! Love the tempo change when the waltz comes in. Within You Without You - George I love you but there was simply no need. When I'm Sixty Four - CUTE. Hadn't caught the random Scottish accent on 'your' in 'on your knee' before. Lovely Rita - so good - love the harmonies and dreamy quality to the chorus. Didnt remember the trippy ending. Good Morning Good Morning - Love the timing and tempo changes. Do NOT remember all those animal noises, but I'm thinking there's stuff added or just made clearer on the Remastered tracks that I didn't grow up with. Sgt. Pepper's Reprise - just such good rock. A Day In The Life - Very good - still freaked out by the orchestral rise tbh. Never appreciated the final chord until now - what an incredibly perfect end to a song and album (if we ignore the actual nightmarish end to the song haha): "In author Jonathan Gould's commentary on "A Day in the Life", he describes the final chord as "a forty-second meditation on finality that leaves each member of the audience listening with a new kind of attention and awareness to the sound of nothing at all"."

Great album.

Dad music, definitely a 4/5 can’t be five as I wouldn’t suck all their dicks

8.9/10

This is one of the stronger Beatles albums. It's much better than I anticipated or remembered it being

One of the weaker Beatles albums. Run from title track —> she’s leaving home is 10/10 then it drops a steaming pile of shit with benefit of mr kite and within you without you. When I’m 64, the reprise and a day in the life are great though. also john beats his wife but it’s ok he’s changing his scene ☺️

Was a fun listen. Im not the biggest beatles fan by any means, but there were a few songs I recognised and can't be understated they were ahead of their time. A couple more bangers would've set this up for a bigger rating for me, but a high rating considering Im generally not a 60's or Beatles stan

Best album for me so far. Leaving room for my favorites.

Sure this is on every best of list - strong start and ends with probably the best Beatles song ever. But did anyone notice the weak middle part? Mr. Kite, Within/Without, Lovely Rita, Good Morning are - for Beatles' standard - lame ass fillers. Then - I love Pauls songs (usually prefer them over Johns) - but this album has a bit too much of Paul and lacks Johns influence (who was - as I learned - too drugged). Overall a great Beatles album but surely not their best.

very good actually feels like an album the little songs to introduce and conclude are nice. I don't really see which song is meant to be the song of the album everything is very much the same level of good

Always find it hard to review Beatles albums. They're not my favourite band, but not my least favourite either, but I think the world has agreed on them most likely being the best band of all time. When hearing this, I get mixed feelings. On one hand, it has a handful real stellar tracks, like 'With A Little Help From My Friends', 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds', and probably my favourite one, 'A Day In The Life'. On the other hand, I don't get THAT much joy out of listening to it, honestly. Though, I did find a few new neat tracks that were not that bad, like 'Getting Better', 'When I'm Sixty Four', and 'Within You Without You' that was a bit of an odd, but interesting turn (I really like Sitar, so easily sold). My gut says this is somewhere between a 4 and a 5... but honestly, I just don't enjoy it enough for it to be a 5 star, even though perhaps my brain says it should be.

Yep, It's great.

A good album, I liked With A Little Help From My Friends, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and Fixing A Hole the Most.

So much better than the White Album. Not sure why they have A Day in the Life as the last song after the Reprise, but if that's the weirdest thing about the album then I won't complain.

The Beatles are considered to be one of the best rated bands of all time for a very good reason. While this might not be the most well-known album, and also not the best album the Beatles ever recorded, the included songs are still great. Within You Without You was very unexepcted! I did not think the Beatles made songs like that.

7/10 Favorite: When I’m Sixty-Four

The Beatles were my favourite band in middle school but this wasn't one of the albums I owned so I only know about half of the songs really well. The Beatles are always a nostalgic listen for me. This is an eclectic album for sure. Some of the songs are silly/theatrical, some are reminiscent of their earlier albums, and some are more experimental like Within You Without You. The title track is a great tune. My favourite song that I don't know well is Lovely Rita. A Day in the Life is by far my favourite from this album though. 8/10.

Honestly, surprised I'm not giving this full marks as I thought going into it, it'd be one of the easiest 5s I would have ever given. Totally get why this album is being reappraised down while Abbey Road is going up. That said, still a fantastic album, just kinda hits a lull through the middle (She's Leaving Home -> With Or Without You). But when I think of The Beatles, the quirky, silly stuff is what I think of. Stuff like With A Little Help From My Friends, When I'm Sixty Four, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, etc. Just has that super unique sound no one else has been able to come close to (despite trying). And not that it's a quirky silly song, but A Day in the Life is top 10 Beatles songs, easy.

Favorite bisher, unglaubliche Sound- und Textstruktur Varietät (?). Hätte 4,5 gegeben.

I listened to this one relatively recently and it's great. The stereo shit they do is kinda over the top when listening with headphones, but it's dope on a hi-fi system. Actually the stereo shit is pretty annoying on headphones. A day in the life is such a good song, damn.

There's not anything that I can add to the zeitgeist about how great this album is. It's a masterpiece, especially considering the time from whence it came. Still, I'm gonna give it four stars, not five. I have to leave room above it for albums that are more "my thing." And it's not even my favorite Beatles album.

4/5 - You really need to hear Revolver more than you need to hear Sgt. Pepper's, because it's the real masterpiece. A Day in the Life is one of the grandest pop songs of all time. Mr. Kite makes no sense. John opines dreamily about the girl with kaleidoscope eyes. Paul has some charming songs like 64 and Getting Better. Sitar! You've already read and heard everything about this album. It's one of the "important" ones, but it's definitely not the best one.

Wish I could do half stars I’d put 4.5. Not a lot to say about this album that hasn’t been said but yeah it bangs.

Pretty good. Lots of songs I've already heard

Love me a good concept album. This is a phenomenal example of experienced songwriters creating an album rather than a collection of original songs

What a great album! I don't think I had listened to this album all the way through. There are so many bangers

Very good. There's a reason it's on this list. Can see how this influenced future music.

Favoritas: With a Little Help from My Friends, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, Fixing a Hole, She’s Leaving Home, Within You Without You, A Day in the Life Menos favorita: Getting Better #DAY 34: 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die They were bound to show up sooner or later. Funny enough, I had never actually listened to this one in full, so I sat down to do my research and gave it an immersive listen. Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is always thought of as “THE ALBUM”—the one that defined the artistic potential of the format. Beyond that, it also introduced the concept album, showcased the experimental capabilities of popular music, and truly defined a social era. Countless ink, laughter, tears, and even blood have been spilled over these musicians—much of the first dedicated to this LP—and it makes sense, since its impact is impossible to ignore. Anyway, I’ll focus on my first impressions while listening, or else I could lose my mind. The album opens with its self-titled intro, almost circus-like, psychedelic yet playful. As always with The Beatles, the melodies drill right into your brain and hide away in the back drawers of your memory. You come back to the record later and somehow remember most of it. Whether it’s the little opening riff or the band’s chorus, it sticks. After this quirky intro comes the transition into a track sung mainly by Ringo (or “Billy Shears,” as he’s introduced), which is lighthearted and sweet—one of those songs that makes you forget the four were, and are, somewhat questionable people. Speaking of questionable, Getting Better is another upbeat, heartwarming tune, but Lennon’s personal comments make it a hard pill to swallow for me. But before that comes the universally known single: Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. A song apparently about a girl’s eyes, but easily read as an allegory for LSD—or really any overinterpretation we can make, because it’s The Beatles. At its core, it’s an excellent song, and its unconventional instrumentation makes it esoteric and absolutely unique for its time. Moving on to Fixing a Hole, we get a more conventional Paul track for the band, strongly driven by the idea of breaking free from creative limits—something they embodied when building this LP. Imagination spills everywhere, already hinted at by the cover art. However conventional the subject matter may be, everything surrounding it is surreal: the instrumentation, the imagery, the sound effects… Then comes She’s Leaving Home, another track that doesn’t surprise, carried mostly by strings and Paul’s narration, inspired by a real-life news story. Everyday events being the source of the lyrics is fairly common across the record—one of the traits that gives the tracklist its peculiar unity. That continues with Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!, whose lyrics Lennon based on a circus poster he owned. It’s also one of the most surreal songs on the album, transporting us to a medieval fairground or a circus show. Experimentation reaches its peak with the only George track on the album, Within You Without You. After six months of obscurity in India, the man came back inspired, mustached, and composing a piece built on exotic instruments and lyrics reflecting his newfound Hindu beliefs. To balance that out, the next three songs are much lighter and tackle less weighty subjects, becoming increasingly trivial. Lovely Rita is a somewhat ridiculous flirtation song, especially due to its awkward sexual innuendos, though the sound effects make it easier to take the track a bit less seriously. To close, the fanfare returns to announce we’re nearing the end, with one last number from the Sgt. Pepper band. A Day in the Life is without a doubt a peculiar song—Lennon’s verses are quite ordinary in content, yet for some reason they feel suspended in a limbo between reality and fantasy, treating the mundane as something surreal, whether anecdotes drawn from the newspaper or teenage memories. Then, the two spectacular orchestral crescendos are unforgettable. The recording process of those sections is quite peculiar and tied closely to the formalities of Contemporary Art—specifically the Happening, which was known by Lennon, as would become more evident in his relationship with Yoko Ono. Strange as it may be, the song ends up being a deeply satisfying closer, capped with a hidden track (apparently the first in history), hinting at the band’s—or more accurately Lennon’s—future avant-garde interests. Sometimes I enjoy writing about albums more than listening to them, and this is clearly one of those cases. The concept, the history, the legacy, the anecdotes, the mystery—I find them more interesting than the way it actually sounds. I think what the band would go on to make feels much more coherent and entertaining—and I say that fully aware that the White Album couldn’t be more chaotic, but in that case, I think the very concept of the double LP is a brainstorm, with each idea treated more attentively than on Sgt. Pepper’s. Of course, it has some truly great songs, and for its time it’s remarkable that a pop rock album could be so immersive. Still, I think quite a bit of the content—especially in the second half—leaves me wanting more. All in all, it’s an artistic milestone, something that’s often more compelling to study than to consume. Favorites: With a Little Help from My Friends, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Fixing a Hole, She’s Leaving Home, Within You Without You, A Day in the Life Least favorite: Getting Better

Classic and eternal, though I don't believe the hype that this was the psychedelic rock album its made out to be...that wasnt their jam.

Overraskende mye bra, men også en god del syretripp...

There is no 5-star Beatles album because even the best ones (not this one) have some absolute waffle in the middle. Still the Beatles, mind

August 22, 2025 Album #720: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles Genre: Rock, Pop, Psychedelia, Art Rock It’s hard for me to talk about albums as iconic as this one, because cmon, it’s fucking Sgt. Pepper. I can try though, haha. It’s only natural for an album like this to start with some of the most iconic Beatles songs. The transition from the title track to *With A Little Help..* is amazing, though the early hints of psychedelia on *Lucy In The Sky..* are amazing. The more experimental tracks make for nice romps, like *Being For The Benefit..* and *Within You Without You*, though *Within You..* sort of overstays its welcome. I also appreciate the accessible songs between the more experimental songs, like *Getting Better*. *When I’m Sixty Four* is one of these songs is just sweet and excellent. *Lovely Rita* is also one of these songs, though it’s a bit too cutesy and isn’t for me. *She’s Leaving Home* is extremely lush and emotional with its arrangements and lyricism. However, the experience this album creates leads up to the absolutely iconic closer, *A Day In The Life*. It’s emotional, reflective, and it ends with a bang. With that in mind, I can understand why this album is held in such high regard. It has its share of great tracks. Though, among those songs are ones that I feel are okay. It can feel a bit all over the place sometimes for me, but this album is still a classic. It’s an essential and I recommend checking it out if you’re interested in The Beatles. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, Decent 7 Favorite Tracks: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, With a Little Help From My Friends, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Getting Better, Fixing a Hole, She’s Leaving Home, When I’m Sixty Four, A Day In The Life

A classic.

Fundamentally very tricky to remove from the context of being the most beloved Beatles album by the public, the best album of all time for many people etc. The reputation it has as innovative is interesting listening through. There are a few areas where it seems to clash with this: - this doesn't really feel like a concept album, none of the songs really tie together other than a loose carnival/music hall feel - there are several songs on here (though good) which feel seriously dated to the early 60s and before (when I'm sixty-four really sounds like straight up music hall) - which seems to clash a bit with this reputation as innovative - the album has several genuine duds - the last three songs on the a-side all miss for me and though I do enjoy the b-side it seems to run out of steam prior to the big one at the end Despite all of this - the album does genuinely flow very well and it has tracks which really play to the strengths of each songwriter. It also has Lucy in the Sky and A Day in the Life which are both 11/10 tracks. Even if it is maybe misleading to go into this expecting a super innovative record or ambitious concept album all the way though, it is genuinely a good 7/10 album.

Love it. Great album

Sgt Pepper walked so that Shrek the Musical at the Theatre Severn could run. Both a highly entertaining treat for the ears. A day in the life is peak Lennon V Macca. But who won? My vote goes against 'found my coat and grabbed my hat, made the bus in seconds flat'. So you're telling me this is fine but everyone scoffs at Rebecca Black singing "gotta have my bowl gotta have cereal"? Hey, the jokes on you because she also made it to the bus stop. N.B. The Cat In The Hat movie features a great Smash Mouth cover of 'Getting Better' whilst Cat, Conrad and Sally clean up a shit load of mess made by those bastards Thing 1 and Thing 2. Spoiler alert: it gets better and Conrad doesn't have to go to military school. Another reason to love The Beatles.

This is some of my favourite Beatles music. Post Beatlemania, so they'd stopped being quite so squeaky clean and keen to hold people's hands, but before they'd started rolling around on the floor, frothing at the mouth. For me, where this album really shines is the tracks on the more coherent end of this spectrum and not yet in the recovery position. It's getting better, she's leaving home, fixing a hole. The arrangement, production and songwriting is second to none. It's poignant and philosophical without the need for face paint and finger cymbals. I did have to knock a point off because I had the reprise of the title track as my alarm tone about 15 years ago and it still gives me anxiety when I hear it.

Psychedelic Beatles are the best Beatles

87% Best: With a Little Help from My Friends; Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds; Good Morning Good Morning; A Day in the Life Must-Hear? Sure

This was an exceptional album. Probably feeling a little biased since I had Abbey Road as my first Beatles album on this site. The record starts strong but kinda lost me in the middle. I think this is a solid 4.5 album but I will round it down.

I think I know every single word on this album. Probably one of the ones that changed me when I first heard it. 4.9/5.0 Best Song: She’s Leaving Home/A Day In The Life

I have such a soft spot for this album. Listened to it for the first time as a student working in a record store and it just made me happy. The whimsy of it all really speaks to my heart but I’m sure were I to give it a listen some other time it would’ve grated my tits. The vocals are such a pleasure to have in your ears. I’ll admit I can’t tell John from George sometimes, Paul’s just very familiar to me by comparison. Every Beatles album I’m going to come across on this site will undoubtedly send me down a rabbit hole. I’ve watched so many Beatles documentaries (thanks Dad!) and feel like most of my exposure to their music has been through osmosis. I’m by no means an expert, it’s all vibes to me. So I’m really looking forward to Revolver and Abbey Road coz then we’ll probably get more serious about it. So no, Sgt Peppers doesn’t feel like a ‘serious’ album. Good songs, great vibes. ‘Within You Without You’ is a vibes banger. But damn songs like With a Little Help from my Friends, Lucy, A Day in the Life… these will outlive us all. The most devastating closing track on an album. Must’ve set the bar in terms of wrecking your listeners via album closing track. John is on one with A Day in the Life. The gear must’ve been so very good back then.

I always respect a band that tries to get away from its own shadow, and that's what the Beatles tried to do with this album. You can see some of the influences in later albums taking root here, and the evolution of their sound as well in songs like "A Day in the Life". A fun album full of experiments.

Perhaps not their best album but certainly iconic. It contains a number of their best known songs and there’s no doubting its place on the list

Fuck this stupid amazing trippy album. Not to die for, but truly amazing.

It's the Beatles, they don't have a bad album. But ironically, I don't think this is one of their best albums. The best songs (Sgt. Pepper's, A Little Help, Lucy in the Sky, Mr. Kirk) are unquestionably some of the Fab Four's best. Hell, A Little Help is my favorite song. But the back half is a little uninspiring. I like a more well-balanced album. Still, they are the Beatles.

I always liked this one, but not as much as Abbey Road. It is an amazing experimental record though, very enjoyable and trippy.

I know it's popular to shit on the Beatles, but I still like their stuff. Not so much because I like their music over other bands of the 60s, but more from an objective technical point. Sgt. Pepper isn't quite rock or pop, like the rest of their previous albums. There's a lot of sound engineering and effects in this album that had never been practiced or attempted in music before. It raised the bar for what people could expect from a music album.

What were these guys smoking????

Really good stuff honestly

Riktigt bra - men gillar denna genren.

They've once again proven why I shouldn't hate them

Difficile de noter un classique...

Album starts off strong and just gets right into it. Peak drug Beatles era

This is a solid four for me. It's not the best Beatles album, not by a longshot, and it falls off a cliff after the first four tracks. The reprise and A Day in the Life get it back on track at the end.

Makes me feel at home whilst also as if I’m Lucy in the sky with diamonds

I have a soft spot for the Beatles and I enjoyed this album. It reminds me of my dad and some of the good times we shared on vacation.

Loved it. A couple of songs - not so much. Overall, a big yes

Some big hits, sometimes boring.

This was a nice Beatles album, there were a few great jams but there were a few songs that were just okay. Overall, the album was great and imagine what it would've been like if this was back in the day.

This is obviously one of the more influential and popular Beatles albums, it does slap, but it doesn't change my opinion that they are slightly overrated SORRY 😬 Highlights: Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, A Day In The life, Lovely Rita

Fun and funky

I have never listened to this album in full before, and I think it’s a little overrated. It started out so strong and then just lost me in the middle Still 4 stars because of some absolute iconic songs Fav Songs: with a little help from my friends, Lucy in the sky with diamonds, a day in the life

Perfection!

A classic record from one of the most influential bands ever. liked most of it. 4/5

"It can't be helped," he said, nodding at the bulldog girl. "This is Lucy." He laughed distractedly. "You know -- like Lucy in the sky with diamonds . . ." I like this album considerably, but I've never had it in my Beatles top 3 for some reason. Good grooves though.

• 4/5 • wonderful, memorable, and the model for concept albums since - but still too hokey and backward looking for a 5

Diverse, clearly inspired but pushed some boundaries, fun to listen to, great production, love it

Not my favorite Beatles album, but great nonetheless

It's the Beatles, what do you need me to say? I'm only clocking it a star because I think Rubber Soul is better

Great Beatles album. Although honestly is their most overrated. Still, some of their greatest songs are on here.

One step below the greatest ever albums.

Light 4 for the best Beatles album

It is a good album held strong by a collection of really good songs, interspersed with some ok songs. I dont really like the ditty type beatles songs, but they are irrelevant in the greater picture of this album. It still stands out and is still good. I would listen to it again the same way I would listen to any beatles album. Not being a massive fan, i will still give it 4 stars

This is good but not Abby Road good

Classic

4/5 it's hard to not let nostalgia guide my rating of this album because otherwise it would be a 5/5. Upon re listen trying to be objective it has some faults that deserve one less star. Still a hugely influential album that I love.

I know people love the Beatles and their melodies but for the most part I don’t listen to lyrics.

Great album, a few classics like getting better, Lucy in the sky with diamonds, with a little help from my friends. In my opinion, the rest of the songs on the album don’t hold up as well as individual songs but I think the album is pretty cohesive taken altogether. It’s an enjoyable ride of eclectic influences, not to be enjoyed sober.

one of the most important albums in music.... with a tiny bit of filler in the middle

Great album, almost prefect, but I don’t think she’s leaving home fits. It feels shoehorned in.

This is better than a lot of the Beatles albums I’ve heard. It's more interesting and definitely more ambitious. That said, I still wouldn’t call it great. It’s a good album with some standout moments, and I get why it’s important, but as a listen, it’s not life-changing.

Amazing album, but enough circusy stuff that was amazing production in the day, that sounds a bit dated now. 4 stars.

Classic. Probably my first time going end to end? A few all timers on here and good psychedelic stuff besides that
