Reviews (page 7 of 7)

This was a chore to listen to. At times reminded me of like The Shins smashed with The Gorrilaz. Probably wouldn't listen again.

I recognize the talent, but it is not my cup of tea.

Pretty mid album. Boring enough that I have nothing good or bad to say about it, and no favorite track

Meh. Was aware & listening for innovative sounds in 2001 but have never heard of this UK band. Now i know why

Didn't hate it but its a one and done.

This is an album that exists. You'd think with a name like "Super Furry Animals" that this band would have something unique and weird in a good way. Instead, Rings Around The World is just kind of mediocre. The singing isn't bad, but I'm not particularly impressed by it. The sound quality is okay. It sounds weird at times in regards to the production. The writing is fine. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood or something, but I just don't really get this album. I thought it could maybe be a light 3 at first, but then this weird thing happened at the end of "Receptacle for the Respectable" that I didn't like at all so I bumped it down a bit. I see no reason for this album to be on the list. It doesn't have enough cultural impact or quality to justify its inclusion. Apparently they're notable enough to have 2 albums on this list. Isn't that just great? 2/5.

Dead boring. Sounded floydian on the first tune and then the rest was just meaningless dad rock. Somehow also sounded like a kids songbook on some of the poppier songs as well.

Joo, tämä ei oikein mulle auennut.

A true mishmash of everything on rock/pop radio in 2001. I loathed that stuff at the time, and I don't believe it's aged well.

Too long and after awhile they tend to blend in.

I know very little SFA tracks. This was not as good as I’d hoped it would be.

Disappointing. I can't remember any of the tracks, other than when it started to sound interesting it didn't follow through and just got annoying.

I wanted to like this more than I actually did. I was probably in a grumpy mood or something. Though, Juxtapozed with U is still *chef's kiss!* 2.5

Just not my thing

This album didn’t do much for me. Not the worst I’ve heard but it was basically just background noise.

Super Furry what now??

It’s ok I’m into enough British bands, I think I can let Super Furry Animals pass me by without feeling guilty. I tried

This album was far better than the other Super Furry Animals album I got, but unfortunately on a five star scale the difference isn't big enough to add that extra star, so they look like they're equals here. I just feel as though I'll actually remember this one way better, and there were even some tracks here I liked quite a bit, but I have to agree with the consensus that I don't know why I wouldn't just go seek out the musical styles they're trying to emulate here. The singing feels like a mix of Blur and The Flaming Lips, which is interesting.

not my cup of tea.

No thanks, what's next?

Vaikea kuunneltava, enkä tarkalleen tiedä miksi. Tempon hitaus?

Surprising album for me, I expected it to be way worse. SFA explore a whole set of different sounds in this record, managing to get an average to good performance in all of them. It was a fun trip, but maybe not the most suitable for me. Appreciated the listen, though.

I can understand the importance of such a band as an influence of the other artists. But it wasn't anything speacual

Nothing special

Sugar Ray meets psychedelic rock

Not for me.

First time listening to Super Furry Animals. There is a lot going on, but I could tell pretty quickly this is not the type of music I tend to enjoy. Tried "Radiator" as well and enjoyed it a bit more. Might revisit at some point.

Twice as good as the other Super Fury Animals album on the list, so it gets another star

Not sure what this album wanted to be. It was indie music at points. Then it all of sudden was dubstep and then switched to 60sish music. I am sure it was intentional but it was a bad choice. It was not good. I don't have a reason to listen to any of the songs or the album again.

This is really irritating and I'm not sure why. But every track causes me to get a bit more peeved, miffed even. It's not outright crap like Bon Jovi or Aerosmith but I really don't like this.

2. I just wanted this to be over..

Kinda weird so it gets 2 stars just not sure there was enough here to make it to 3 and I don't like the vocals particularly. Chose the instrumental track to go on my new list of 1 track from each album.

Random Welsh wandering!

AJ: whackadoo euro pop rock. Some catchy, some weird as shit. Not for me. But could be cool if I was high enough. I’m not high enough. Not for me.

Still wrapping my head around this. Lots to unpack. Not all of it good.

This has the right parts for something I’d like - but twenty years late. This is boring.

Pop com alguma pretensão eletro-rock.

eh. the singer's voice was very grating, which made the entire album very hard to get to. instrumentals were fine, the vocalist really just killed the whole spirit of every song.

Track 1 - Meh Track 2 - P. Bad Track 3 - Meh Track 4 - Okay Track 5 - P. Bad Track 6 - Meh Track 7 - Ok Track 8 - ok Track 9 - Bad Track 10 - Meh Track 11 - Okay Track 12 -

# 51 : Bahahaha, so funny, but not jokingly. Quite uninspiring record TBH. Barely 2 stars Receptacle For The Respectable.

Well that certainly was underwhelming. The other album I heard from them on this list was at least okay-ish while this one was anywhere from completely annoying to dull as dishwater on any given song. Yet again I fail to see why this album made this list. It doesn't seem essential on any level. I suspect that even fans would say something like "Yeah, I like it but no one NEEDS to hear it." Somehow not a 1 but it crossed my mind.

Ei tää bändi vaa toimi meikälle! 2/5

Muistuttaa kahden hyvän bändin, eli Belle and Sebastianin ja The Flaming Lipsin sekoitusta, mutta aika teennäiseksi valitettavasti jää. Armollisesti saa britti-indiebändit levyjä listalle, kun näiltäkin kaksi. Toivoisin tästä genrestä enemmän niitä jenkkejä.

A pleasant listen, but just feels a bit vapid despite being lushly produced.

Odd album. I guess you need to strive for greatness to achieve it. They did strive, but did not achieve. Some weird stuff that lowers the ranking for the overall album.

Taas sellanen levy, ku ei tiiä mistä alkaa ja mihin päättyy… puolivahingossa varmaan kolme kertaa meni ympäri, ku ei jaksanu tarkistaa/vaihtaa levyä

It had some decent moments but also had some bad moments.

the lead singer sounds like the guy from gorilla. not as good as gorillaz though.

I could feel the year 2000 bleeding through my ears as I listened to it. No Sympathy.

Far from the worst album ever served to me here, but really, nothing special. As in, I fail to see a reason to ever get back to this album.

Not very good. I will not be listening to this again. Some parts were ok, but others made me question why this is on the list.

How to rate this album... It's incredibly diverse and variable. Parts of the album are terrible in my mind, other parts I find intriguing. Well, the average of 1 and 5 is 3. But the weak parts dominante: 2

I can imagine that coming up with 1001 albums for this list was a daunting task. I don't understand why it was necessary to include a second Super Furry Animals album. Fuzzy Logic made sense. The is superfluous. The song selections are an eclectic mess. I also found it to be easy less interesting than Fuzzy Logic.

Nothing special. Below average Brit pop. 2/5

No sir, I don't like it. It's like they took the worst parts of neo-psychedelia and britpop and sewn them together for maximum displeasure.

Some good moments, but they don't overcome the bad ones.

weird name, weird album

A few great moments, but overall it's boring, generic and will be forgot in one or two generations. I can't understand why it's supposed to be an important album.

2 "No Sympathy" caught me off-guard

Some cool moments, but too all over the place to be consistently enjoyable.

Eclectic

This feels like it's trying to be all things to all people. Sometimes you're humming along to a pretty melody and next you're grinding your teeth to a cacophony of racket. I can't imagine what mood I could be in to want you pop this album on

p882. 2001. 2 stars. Overly long pretentious tosh. Do we really need another album of eccentric noodling with the occasional decent song? No. Nothing to see here, move on.

No one deserves to be bullied, but... The best track on this album has no words in it.

Take the more annoying parts of Pink Floyd, mash them with the more annoying parts of The Beatles, and somehow make it all worse than either of those bands could dream of being. I don't think there's enough weed in the world to make me really dig this album. There are a couple tracks that I'd listen to again, but ultimately I'm sitting here realizing why it's been out for 21 years and I'd never heard of it before. I can say that they have some really great lyrics in some of the songs, but overall my takeaway is this: Of all the albums I listened to in 2022, this was one of them.

I don't know it's just so generic rock band it's boring. 2.4

Beetje te experimenteel voor mij

Something about this rubbed me the wrong way. There are elements I enjoy but it just became a bit of a chore to get to the end. Maybe an interesting experimental blend but it didn’t work for me.

Uhm... what?

2.5. Really wish I heard more of this today before rating it. It sounds nice, but I didnt hear enough to properly rate it.

Just didn’t click with this

I didn’t really like the first album so the thought of listening to this one sounds so lame

a little boring

Wasn’t my speed but there’s certainly an audience for this so don’t not listen on my account

A little different, okay but not my thing.

Smor. Barely a 2

Some say it was their best album ever, NME says it was the worst. I'm team NME. Its iconic, adequately sums up a point in time - but it's not a classic

Quite boring.

I blame Pet Sounds. Weird does not equal genius. It didn't for Brian Wilson ('Vegetables', anyone?) and it certainly doesn't for second-tier English indie bands. There are so many albums like this on the list, and they are really starting to bore me. Just because a band was an NME darling for a year or two does not make them essential listening. (Fun fact: NME described this as their \"worst album\". Inevitable backlash, much?)) This album is some (very) average songs wrapped in fancy 'experimental' production. I'm reading wikipedia about the album, and heard that they had Paul McCartney recreating his celery eating on the track Receptacle for the Respectable. Case in point about this band taking exactly the WRONG LESSON from Pet Sounds. Too much time and money, not enough song.

Trippy but more depressing than The Beatles

Missed it at the time, don't care about it now.

Pièces préférées: (Drawing) Rings Around The World, Receptacle for the Respectable, Sidewalk Serfer Girl.

dakle pjesma It's Not the End of the World? No Sympathy je dost zajebana stvar - miks svačega do kraja pjesme čuješ, pogotovo zadnje 3min.

This was pretty boring. Hopefully, they had fun, at least.

Boring berks

Started off sounding like minecraft but then turned into what appeared to be an attempt at 70's rock, not a huge fan

With all due respect to Glass Animals fans, and fans of late 90s / early 00s BritPop – No. Understanding that the book this list is based on is British and most of it's contributors are British, the amount of unnecessary BritPop on this list is a head-scratcher. Rings around the world is an okay album. It starts off strong and almost halfway into the album I started getting annoyed and frustrated. Yay for the band that they peaked at number three on the UK charts, but across the pond you have to get to the Indie Charts before you even see this album rank a moderate 32 for the year. This is not a list-worthy entry. Perhaps I'm becoming annoyed at the draws that are giving me mediocre UK pop for the the third time in four days, but I'm hopeful tomorrow will be better. 3/5 for musicality | 2/5 for list worthiness.

ekki alveg ég

Generic Britpop. The singer sounds like Albarn.

mid but not like ultra bad. i can see the appeal . enjoyment 2/5 belongs on this list 1/5 favourite tracks: sidewalk serfer girl, drawing rings around the world

No me dice mucho

Not that bad of an album but didn’t feel like it has much to show. Instrumentals were ok and lyrically it was meh. Felt like an album that tried to do a various amount of things never got it figured out. 5.2/10

Meh. Repetitive, trying to hard to be from the '60s. There's something about Brit-rock from the '90s and '00s that just doesn't work for me - it sounds sterile and passionless and over-aware of itself.

Not unenjoyable, but the influences of so many other musicians and groups was so heavy, it sounded like a tribute album. Beatles, ELO - even "Juxtaposed with U" was heavy with Elvis Costello. I couldn't get past the similarities on too many songs.

not blown away - No Sympathy only real fave and the title song was dull as hell

The music is meh but the cover art is ew.

Ehhhh not great. Such a struggle to get through the whole thing. Aged political lyrics and a lack of quality Melodie’s makes it a tough listen. 3/10

Funky and psychedelic. Not really my jam.

Not very good. I feel like it's 1/3 of the way to good

This album is weird. The synth stuff sometimes is great other times annoying. I like the diversity in the tracks.

Lousy Oasis wannabes.

Unnecessary addition to this list.

It was such a weird mish-mash of electronica/rock and to be honest not really a fan. It felt like it jumped around from place to place and no real cohesion throughout. I can kind of see what they were trying to go for but it just didn't really work. Best: It's Not the End of the World? Worst: Run Christian Run!

Hmmm this is a tough one. Overall I guess I didn't "get" what they were going for. Feels like a super ambitious mashup, but sloppy. I really liked some of the parts when they played it "straight" like Run Christian Run and the first part of No Sympathy. But I could do without almost all of it. 2.5

Really? Another Super Fury Animals album. WTF is up with this list? I got about a third of the way through this, and then stopped due to my disgust level at the entire 1001 albums catalog - Turd. Prob deserves three stars, but nah… Album is probably deserving of three stars, but only getting two from me today. I like the cover art. 😖

The intro growls a hundred growls, but tapers off a bit. Not as enjoyable as their previous album on our list

pretty meh, enjoyed a song or two

Generic 2000s rock. Nothing special.

Melodic indie. Some nice tunes and stand out singles, but most of it sounds the same.

the band name i'm fucking crying also the album is mid af but the guitar solo on run christian run cums hard

Some good tracks on this. I like the instrument Touch Sensitive. No Sympathy is an adventurous and memorable song and Run! Christian, Run! is also a really good song that deserves to be the album closer. But these are the exceptions in an otherwise dull and tedious album. It’s too long for a start and I find his voice incredibly irritating. Super Furry Animals aren’t a band I had ever taken time to explore, and this album hasn’t encouraged me to explore any further

One reason I love 1001 albums generator is that I get to listen to things I have never heard before. This album was in many ways enjoyable, but I just hate pop music.

I was falling behind on my thousand and one homework so had to cram the two Super Furry Animals albums this afternoon. I thought the  Fuzzy Logic  album was OK with a few good rock songs. Rings Around the World was a little lame. Kinda like music you might hear on a soap opera. I must admit I didnlt get passed Track 8 on Rings. Perhaps it got better. Who knows?

Didn’t really enjoy this like I thought I might. Juxtaposed was the best track. Wouldn’t listen again.

Wasn’t blown away, but should maybe have given it more of a chance.

Favorite track: Shoot doris day

Yeah, I don’t know about this. Was there some point in the early 2000s where this band was a thing and I just missed it? Was this album critically praised? I feel like it’s all but impossible to get a handle on what this is and who it’s for. There’s such a kitchen sink quality going on that I found myself liking parts and hating parts, all within the very same song. And in damn near every song. Oddly enough, I found myself thinking of the hippie hair metal band Enuff Z’nuff for some reason. There’s a mix of genres and styles here that just never quite felt right to me.

there are good reasons why I'd never heard of this

Blegh. There are too many weird British bands in this list. That electronic garbage in the middle was probably the worst cacophony from this list yet.

slightly werid , wont listen again

This was fun, but nothing memorable

Are the songs bad? No. Is the album cohesive in any way at all? Also no.

I think there's a reason I've never heard these guys before; I wish it could have stayed that way.

This album cover is terrible oh my god. Yk what? Whats forcing me To listen to an album by a band called the fucking super furry animals ? This shit is obviously gona suck and I dont want to listen to it. Anyway, I listened to it, was bad. Its trying so hard to be weird. I feel like they really thought they were making something really cool, epic and experimetal but its really not the case. Its more annoying than anything really... sometime even laughably terible. Worst song? yes /5

Muzak that makes you laugh.

Was surprised to find an album I didn't even hear about here. Well, it didn't turn out to be a hidden gem for me.

Eclectic neo-psychedelic pop and space-rock built on layered synths, programmed beats, and melodic, soft vocals drifts with polished but predictable patterns. Listening feels like walking through a futuristic city where every building looks the same—bright, colorful, and technically neat, yet uninspiring. The album sounds competent and accessible, but ultimately feels unimaginative and formulaic

Whenever a band like this says that their new album is “ambitious”, you know it means that they want to justify recording wannabe epic, faux grandiose, ego feeding guff, in order to satisfy their need for attention. This is no exception. The album title supports my theory. It’s not special, it’s not even interesting. It’s just blah.

i have to stop giving things i went through painfully a two or three. this is a one. it just isn’t good. it probably actually is a 1.5 but that isn’t an option so instead it’s the first one (it shouldn’t be other stuff has been just as bad). i think some of the underlying beats are quite strong. the lyrics are bad. i don’t understand them and they seem to be a joke idk. there’s just also a somewhat annoying vibe to the songs just like pulling teeth to get through this. anyways i feel bad im sure these are lovely people with lots of fans. but what business it has on a best albums of all time list i have nooo idea. this part goes without saying, but obviously i did not download anything.

awful.

Hmm, primorana bom na žalost poslušat youtube verzijo albuma. Ok, prvi komad ("Alternate Route to Vulcan Street") je bil kul (violine, mal psihadeličen), drugi ("Sidewalk Serfer Girl") mi ni neki všeč. Uuuu, ja, ta že tko brezvezn komad ("No Sympathy") je ful rabil še the worst sounds od early noughties elektronike. Đizs fakin krajst. "Run! Christian, Run!" mi je pa, surprisingly, ful všeč?! Grem potrpet še skozi zadnjega... Glas od pevca me iritira.

Very weird, ’60s hippie revivalist psychedelic pop-rock with electronic and sci-fi influences. It’s an ambitious combination that shouldn’t work, and unsurprisingly, it doesn’t. The instrumentation is incohesive and disjointed, the songwriting overly complex and pompous, and the lyrics just dreadful. Reading the wiki, I was surprised to see Paul McCartney is credited on one track. For eating celery... Come on, McCartney, didn't you already do that in ’67 with Brian Wilson?

My god this is awful. Listening to this might have hastened my death if I hadn't turned it off at track 10.

Ooof, I would rather have NOT listened to this. Blegh. When they started singing about tolerating people that you hate I wondered if they were talking about my feelings towards this album.

Fine but forgettable. Not seminal nor important nor "must hear before you die" in any way. Actually the more I think about it. The more lacklustre it is and I will never willingly listen to this ever again.

Hated the voice and the songs , just properly grated on me

Not a fan

The best part of this album was the part where the music stopped and it was over. The final minute of No Sympathy was pretty interesting, full of weird noises and almost turned into an EDM track. Nothing else on this album came remotely close to being as interesting as that part. A lot of boring joyless and soulless drab, with uninteresting songs. This band didn't need an album on the list, let alone two of them.

• repetetiv

Not my vibe

Not my jam. Weird.

Feels a little slow and boring to me.

Einfach nur Mist!

I'm not sure I understand what great music is after listening to this album. It was an assault to my ears.

Just not my thing, sorry.

This just feels like a mashup of far too many genres. I think that genre fusion is a really cool thing when pulled of well, but this album pulls it off badly, and I mean really badly. Each song feels completely incoherent, since there are just too many things going on in each moment that I don't even know what I'm meant to be focusing on, and the project as a whole ends up feeling so disjointed because of it.

The last album was bad and so was this one.

Wish I could give it less than 1 star.

I did not like this album. The first song felt like 10mins long

Boring

Different

Absolutely DNF. Confounded by a lot of the “Brit” rock on this list.

Plays like a studio rat’s demo tape. Thousands of well conceived and recorded sonic clips haphazardly tossed together without the slightest consideration for song writing or arranging. Listening was about as emotionally engaging as leafing through an office supply catalogue.

Too much synthesizer. Not really something I would listen too again.

Too psychedelic for me…

Somewhere between 1-2 stars. Only thing making this cohesive is the annoying ness. Not a fan of the vocals, lyrics, or instrumentation. Particularly confused with the constant alien noises in the background. Not enjoyable.

Didn't resonate to me in any level.

It was difficult to put into words how to describe my experience listening to this album. It was partly Indie Brit Pop, mixed with a heavy helping of Brit Rock, along with some psychedelic gibberish, electronica, lounge singing, and noise. It was all over the place. It was hot garbage.

Did not like it

Just awful music

Not good at all. Long and voice sucks.

Niet geluisterd, te lang

That was so boring that I was falling asleep while walking

They certainly marshalled every available synth and sampler to create an album rich with musical flourishes. But alas it didn’t really connect with me.

Mighty weird that the best rated song on this album (“Tradewinds”) isn’t on this album. I found the majority of the songs on this album to be dense and symphonically psychedelic - full of skill but just not hitting an audio mark that I would denote as ‘excellent’, much less ‘must listen to before I die’. I’m noting the classic and influential albums not yet on this list and judging this one severely as a result. Shoot me.

An album with an identity crisis Not sure what I was expecting, but this definitely wasn't this. This album is a disjointed illogical mess. This is an album with an identity crisis with sounds of emo, rock opera, prog rock, the ass end of the surfer band music (think 80s Beach Boys not 60s Beach Boys). There were a few good songs on the album, but there is more flow in a dry creek bed than there is in this album.

Seriously, all this UK late-90's/early-00's crap sounds the same. Lots of reverb, whiny vocals... it's boring. Fine. Put one or two on the 1001 list to fill it out, but there's no need for so many. None of them are different; none of them are historically significant. I don't need to hear another one. 1 star because I'm sick of the same bloody sound day-in and day-out.

Awful.

Another suck-fest.

In one word: lackluster or incoherent

elcectic and unique.....yes. really didn't care for it. discordant sounds, weird attempts at harmonizing falsettos, and tinny vocals. not sure why this is taking up a spot on this list..... 1.5 stars

nope. I can hear how this band COULD be good but they aren't .

It feels as if the drummer is just plodding along waiting for the end of each song to happen. It sounds like the Flaming Lips but done badly. Quite a boring first listen. Maybe I need to try again.

I couldn't figure out what this is supposed to be long enough to enjoy any of it. I just kept thinking of Donny and Marie Osmond wearing Daft Punk helmets while trying to sing Elvis Costello songs. That image is worth a half-star, bringing their total to one and one-half stars.

1. vulcan ztreet - 1 2. zerfer girl - 1 3. ringz - 0 4. uuorld - 1 5. rezpectable - 1 6. touch - 0 7. doriz - 0 8. miniature - 0 9. zympathy - 0 10. juztapozed - 1 11. prezidential - 1.5 12. chriztian - 1 13. happinezz - 1

i don’t mess with the furries

Wow, that album art is not promising. I was totally expecting another shitty British drum n bass album, but it's just a bland early aughts Welsh alt-rock band. This reminds me of someone who pretends to have taken acid before but they're just going off what they think it would feel like based on having heard Flaming Lips and the one time they got way too high on weed. Best thing I can say about this is that there are some interesting things going on hidden among the layers, the problem is that they're covered by so many other layers that it just turns to shit. I probably would've loved this back when it came out when I was 15. The fact that the 20th Anniversary Edition is two volumes on Apple Music and comprises of almost 7 hours of tracks kind of just sums up how annoying this is. It's not even all that terrible, but it is incredibly tiresome. Could've been a solid 2, but as I write this, I'm only halfway through the original 13 tracks and I'm not sure how much more of this I can listen to. The UK bias wins again, but it's not a win for me.

Gear: Hifiman Arya Artwork: Nope. Mix: Nope. Musik: Nope. Wertung: 🙅/5

Nooo i furry nooo

Absolute rubbish, just felt like a waste of time, like someone told them 'just make an album, doesn't matter what it's like'

I missed this album back in the day. I guess I didn’t miss much.

Really odd and eclectic. 1/5

not my cup o tea

🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮

Ew. It's so disjointed. There's a fine line between deep and pretentious and this is on the wrong side of it.

you know i think could've died without hearing this one actually, and there were even a few points deep into the album that death almost seemed more appealing than sitting through more of this bland "made for supermarket adverts" type rock. would give it a 2 because most of it wasn't completely intolerable, but I did give it up completely before the end, so 1 it is.

Not for me!

Woo hoo! My first one star album! Why is this on the list?! I can list a bunch of stuff I'd prefer to listen to rather than this album: jackhammering next door, cats in heat yeowling in the night, the high-pitched shrieking of a toddler. Pretty much from the first song I wanted it to be over. There were maybe one or two redeemable moments in some of the songs that were quickly turned back into grating bleurghhhh.

This was soooo boring.

I think this could’ve squeaked out a 2/5 if it stayed in its boring little singer-songwriter lane, treading water in 2000s easy-listening territory. Instead, it veers wildly into art-rock territory with electronic squawks and unjustified genre change-ups that feel less avant-garde than desperate. A fat load of trite nonsense to sit through on the plane, would’ve preferred the dude’s monotone vocals over soft guitar for an hour instead so I could’ve gone to sleep.

I was expecting this to be better.

Dull, dull, dull. No idea why this album finds its way onto the list. I suspect this is another instance of the author's personal listening bias, so often seen for albums of this time period.

Are you really trying to tell me that there werent 1001 other albums that were better than this one? I feel like all you have to do to be on this list is be from the UK. Its not even a requirement that you be halfway decent or have any talent whatsoever. 1/5

Not my kind

This is one of the first albums on this list that I just couldn't listen through. It reminds me of another artist I really don't like, and I just couldn't resonate with any of these songs. Not a fan

uma bosta

This band sucks. Hated it

doesn’t incorporate any of its wide array of musical elements in an interesting way at all. pretty underwhelming. feels like it would be the soundtrack to a movie called Mr. Gaborium’s Cannaborium Emporium

I did not like this album at all. The songs were bad. The lyrics were forgettable, the music wasn’t great, the sound of the singers voice wasn’t good and there were alot of straight up annoying noises in the songs.

I was bored throughout the whole thing. It was ok background music, but I dont think I'd search for it.

Rings Around The World All over the place. Starts with a piano melody morphing into space soundtrack, then track 2 is a jarring rock alarm. Smacks of annoying concept album of monumental importance to musicologists but not me. I look them up. Welsh brit pop electronica. Ok. I hear a bit fo “AIR” in track 3 But them I got bored.

I didn’t know this band before. They’re like if The Flaming Lips were not good.

Another low quality, low effort Soundcloud level project recorded in some random rural British basement. I'm thinking the same people who did the Teenage Fanclub album cover did this one as well. Makes all my other one star reviews seem almost unfair. One thumbs down is all I can give this. 👎

poopy shit

Did not like

The band's name isn't doing them any favors. I kept listening, waiting to be impressed and it just bored the shit out of me. These guys don't know what they're talking about. Apparently the annoying oaf from Notting Hill is in this band, which is just a little too on the nose.

not interesting and weak

Not 1 stand-out track. Some bits were almost ok but they'd get ruined by something or other. Just didn't think much of it.

Hey! I'm back! I didn't not enjoy this one, but, having just finished this I couldn't sing you back a single song or tell you a single defining feature of their style. I could be wrong, but I'm out.

Was 2001 a really bad year for music or something for this to be so criticality praised? For me, this ambitious attempt to blend disparate genres falls pretty flat. The situation isn't helped with the extremely bland subpar vocals. Also, this album art is fucking terrible!

Interesting sound. Not my cup of tea.

I hated almost every second of this - although I can't say every second because I couldn't bear to listen to it all. Appalling, jarring, deliberately mad dynamics, this was everything Milly said about Rush, but in a different genre and played less competently and maybe they actually were trying to be funny. The opening track has the worst percussion I've ever heard. Worse, even, than the White Stripes. I'm losing faith in the list - why is this in any way an important album? I don't expect to like lots of stuff but I can still appreciate why it might be significant - even though I may hate it - but this definitely isn't.

Did not get through a single entire song. Really bad.

Didn't like but I think my expectations were confused with 'Supergrass' so was expecting upbeat pop rather than dirty stuff. Overly harsh rating...

Sounds like generic British pop rock. Bland all around. 2/10.

Soooooo boring. I really dont class this as rock no matter what people say. Nil points.

I have always not liked the vocals at all.

not for me.

Dear lord! Snoooooooze city. What a boring freaking album. I stopped listening after the first few tracks.
