Reviews (page 7 of 13)

My favorite Doors album

I don’t know what I thought The Doors sounded like but it wasn’t this - I wasn’t expecting a fairly straightforward blues rock record. I don’t mind it though! This worked for me and Riders On The Storm is a classic

The highs are pretty high. I am ready for something outside of 1971 though.

Love the dark, sinister, sleezy vibe. The electric organ is great.

7.5/10

Remarquable album by a very special band, however, not as brilliant and influential as their debut album.

This brought back some memories. The first time I can remember listening to the Doors was when my regular piano teacher broke her hand and was gone for a semester. The substitute was not that interested in classical piano which was all I played and instead introduced me to all these rock organ music instead. I got to play "Child in time" by Deep Purple and "Riders of the Storm" which really opened my eyes to The Doors. (This was no School of Rock deal though and I continued to play classical piano for many years with my old teacher after). A few years later I also got to see "The Doors" live. They were called Riders of the storm due to some legal reason but both Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger were with (this was during the 00s). It was a great show and both me, my friend and both our dads were standing at the front at this small venue in Gröna Lund. Manzarek really is a great pianist. I still love the photo of me, and my friend absolutely mesmerized by the performance. Ok, so the actual album. There are so many great, classic The Doors songs on here. L.A Woman is great. so is Love her Madly. I really enjoyed the bluesy mix. Closing with riders of the storm is a great way to end the album. A very solid four.

Riders on the storm

This one is good, amazing groovy opener and psychedelic closer, but there’s less memorable songs on here than other Doors projects for me. I like it, it’s just not The Doors at their best.

3.5 stars rounded up.

Without the psychedelia wank, the Doors are much more palatable. And this blues-rock album does it well.

Storm: *rolls in* The Riders: *Cue groovy synth solos* For real though, well rounded album. Not my favorite amd not perfect but still very good. Classic rock and would recommend.

Had a good groove throughout the album, and the flow from song to song felt intended.

Overall a more blues rooted record, missing a lot of Manzarek's psychedelic organ. Love Her Madly a bit of an exception here with the Continental leads. Morrison's voice and delivery complement the songs well. I love his growls in the Been Down So Long. Cars Hiss By My Window sorta drags in the middle but it just makes the title track stand out even better. I'm sucker for a Rhodes and the interplay with the guitar in the intro is great. Overall the high point here, and probably for the Doors in general. Tempo change into the bridge before the soaring outro is a great showcase for John Densmore and just feels exuberant when they come back around - great encapsulation of a car speeding down the highway out of LA. Sounds like a nod to Alice's Restaurant in L'America? Crawling King Snake oozes with sleaze.

i listened to this a few times over like a month and that of course means i like it more now. i already liked riders on the storm and LA woman but it was the first time i'd really sat with this album... probably a 4.5 but imo not fully there so we're at a 4

Ornamental transition.

Excellent A side with LA Woman as the highlight and probably my favorite all time Doors Song. B side is mostly boring before Riders of the Storm. Overall this record has some great songs but feels more disjointed than other Doors albums

J'aime Pô pire sa c'est tra bon!

Apparently Robby Krieger said this album “sounds almost like a rehearsal. It’s pure Doors.” Yeah, that’s it! It’s so cool and casual despite being incredibly good. It’s like if slacker rock went blues-y.

Morrison's final album consistently provides what made The Doors great. His vocal performance ranges from energetic to cool, and laid back. Great songs all around. The addition of a bass guitar creates a unique sound in The Doors' discography. *Heard before.

Aika tumma kokonaisuus, kruununa vielä Riders of the Storm. Sopi hyvin siivousmusiikiksi taustalle. Tiettyyn vähän synkkään mielentilaan toimii. Sateinen syksy ja hämyinen ilta.

When I want to be sad, motivated, or lonely while staying dope and cool. Definitely a listen.

Pretty pleasant to listen to

Pretty solid blues

Really solid album. Added about two songs from it and I’m gonna listen again to the album and probably add another 👌

Mannnnn, the fucking doors. Cant go wrong. In L.A. Woman, they bring the RIGHT ratio of psych rock, rock, and some deep blues. Produced beautifully, every song just has that sound I want it to have from an album in this time. Some good shit Personal Favorite: Cars Hiss by my window, hyacinth house, Riders on the storm

This is a nice album - varied but still completely "The Doors". Doesn't indulge itself too much, nice and tight, some bit hits from it

Such a strongly blues album. Hyacinth House is the complete standout for me, next to the epic classics Riders on the Storm, Love Her Madly and LA Woman. It blows my mind that LA Woman is not higher on the Spotify top 10 singles for the Doors, but then I'm reminded that 9 other songs are Just. That. Good.

I listened to this a lot when I was younger. There are some great songs on this, But I don't think it was their best album. Going back to their roots comes across as lazy to me.

Gritty, bluesy rock. Morrison's vocals alternate between haunting, to preaching, to aggressive and hostile. Teetering on the 4/5 line for me.

Didnt listen to all but it's very groovy.

fanataysic alvum. i love the doors. four stars because some of the final tracks suck

The Changeling sounds like Funky Town. Great bass. Nice guitar solo on Been down so long. L.A. Woman, fun.

Every track on this album is a bop. Each one of them have a different sound to them, without making that a mess of a record. I had heard some songs from them in the past, but surely "L.A. Woman" is a great introduction to The Doors. Quite sincerely loved the album, but I missed a stand out song I had already known.

4 star

heavy blues influences aren't exactly my thing, however several of the songs were great and a few are extremely memorable (for their greatness or for their popularity, I can't tell. If not both) favorite track : 'Love Her Madly'

Lots of blues. It was a little slow but I enjoyed every song.

Pretty great. Very bluesy. Probably giving it 4 stars.

Easy listening, with some great songs.

The challenging - very interesting mix of church influences with the organ to rock and roll with heavy base Love her madly- stanky keys and guitar. Lovely 70’s guitar twang. Been down so long - really strong blues vocalist with the base and snare drum picking up (so far my fav of album) can definitely feel a big church influence, fun to see how this is incorperated into the more 70's style guitar and the incorporation of blues

classic!

4/5. I do love this album a lot and the first side run is perfect. However, most of the second side is skippable. Texas Radio and L'America are definitely misses. And as an album as a whole, it rocks but not like other Doors albums. Jim's sultry blues voice is the best it's sounded and the instrumentation is more collective but the songwriting is what is missing here. Still some great songs overall.

Couple good songs

Really good album, would give 4.5. Couple of less than great songs but it’s a classic for a reason

Rock and roll

👍🏼

RIIIIDERS ON THE STOOORM.... This is my first album on this website! Blues rock isn't exactly my thing, but I gave this a listen anyway. The tracks L.A. Woman, Love Her Madly, and Riders on the Storm were probably my favorites. Some of these felt like they dragged on a bit long, though, like Cars Hiss By My Window and especially L'America. Good album overall. There are some songs I’d come back to.

Wait, the doors are... good? Was I put off by all the boomer baggage? Was an above-average band bogged down by the eye-rolling mythologizing of the keyboardist?

1. the changeling - 2 2. love her madly - 3 3. been douun zo long - 2 4. carz hizz by my uuindouu - 3 5. la uuoman - 5 6. lamerica - 2 7. hyacinth houze - 2 8. crauuling king znake - 2 9. the uuazp - 3 10. riderz on the ztorm - 5

Not my favorite from the Doors, but still better than almost all blues/psychedelic rock. Jim Morrison is a legendary front man for a reason.

From 'The Changeling' through 'L'America' + 'Rider On The Storm' this is a perfect album. The sound mixing is just incredible with each Door getting his due time to show off.

I love The Doors. Though this is a great album, it’s not my favorite of theirs. Though this was the first time I’ve heard many of the songs.

Brisk energy. Jazz wrapped in a lo-fi rock sound. Frills of complexity, you get the sense the band could get weirder if they wanted but are holding it back. L.A. Woman and Riders on the Storm are instant standouts. Jump up in sophistication from my last recommendation here, The Eagles’ Hotel California, which apparently came out half a decade later :)

Love the doors.

Great classic late-60s early-70s album. Morrison’s voice is great, it has groovy parts. 2 absolute classics in “Riders on the Storm” and “Love her Madly”, also really appreciated the titular “L.A. Woman”. 4/5, would recommend.

To be honest, I was going in to this album without any expectations and was immediately blown away by the opening track. The mix of bass with the piano and other instruments ( I don't know my instruments) makes for an incredible album, I had fun listening to this. The only track that I didn't like was cars hiss by my window. Pretty forgettable compared to the other songs that follow it .

Absolute classic

Strong blues Doors album and prob their best.

Great album. Raw sound. Great choice in track order. Many songs I had heard before, but never the whole album.

Better when I was 14

Half the songs on this record are fantastic and make it a classic for sure. And there really isn’t another band that sounds like The Doors, so yeah this is “list worthy”.

I don't like this one as much as the debut S/T album. It's still very good, and the popular songs are popular for a reason, they're great. This album is a lot more blues forward which isn't a bad thing. It's good, but it's not great.

Great album, heard some of the songs before so it brings back some good times

fun album, but not really something I would listen to all the time though.

Terrific. Amazing songcraft: classic folk and blues forms, yet they sound fresh and brand new.

Great set of songs - kind of like their previous album never happened. Morrison does sound baked/drunk on some of these, but it makes it sound more realistic and almost like it's live. Production value is stellar (though maybe I was listening to a remaster?).

Very bluesy.

Discazo full blues de los Doors.

This was better than I thought it would be

I never loved the Doors. but I get how great they are.

Don't think I've ever listened to a full Doors Album. Enjoyed this quintessential and seminal sound

Classique

Pretty great album.

Upbeat rock.

Classic

Split between 3 and 4, think I'll go 4. I really enjoyed the bluesy influences. Downside was JM's voice on some of the tracks, I get the raw sound but it wasn't always sonically pleasing. Still enjoyable and unique

4/5 Great album!!! What’s not to like about Mister Mojo Risin’!!!

Funkier than expected. Only knew riders on the storm beforehand.

An amazing record from an innovative group whose potential was cut way too short with Jim Morrison’s death. Very cool and unique!

Good stuff but wasn't something I was into

RIDERS ON THE STORM

damn i love the doors. and i love this album. apparently i’ve never listened to it all the way thru bc i wudda remembered hyacinth house. What an album man. the singles alone carry it to a 3 then the other tracks give an ez 4 star here.

honestly kinda slaps

Plus one for Riders On The Storm

Another great album. One of my favourites. Just a brilliant sound from an incredible band.

Classic Morrison and the Doors! Haven't listened to this all the way through in at least 30 years. Still hits it for me. Probably because I'm so much closer to when it came out and get the cultural references. Hope they throw in some Hendrix and Joplin, too.

Only was really familiar with a few songs but I enjoyed them

The last studio album while Jim Morrison was still alive is steeped in the blues, even more than previous albums. To go along with "Riders On The Storm (which is one of their all-time best), "Cars Hiss By My Window" is a slow, but determined, classic blues piece that you will not find on any greatest hits, but it's more than worth a listen.

The Changeling- 4/5 Love Her Madly- 5/5 Been Down So Long- 5/5 Cars Hiss by My Window- 4.2/5 L.A. Woman- 3.9/5 L'America- 4.8/5 Hyacinth House- 4/5 Crawling King Snake- 3.7/5 The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat)- 3.5/5 Riders on the Storm- 3.9/5 Total- 4.2/5

Classic is the word for this album. From the hypnotic riff of the changeling to the guitar play on been down so long the slow build up of all the songs is mesmerising. Cars hissing. L.a. woman. Crawling King snake and of course light my fire give mr Morrison a chance to use his voice to full effect. Mr Mojo do your stuff.

The Doors never been my thing since childhood, so i ignored 'em as long as i could. But in fact, that's definitely wrth listening, and even it's not my thing at all, i loved that experience.

Excellent.

Much better then I was expecting. Assumed it would be the same through but it's got great variety, running the gamut of 70s rock and blues.

drug induced bluesy bar rock. good stuff. highlights: “love her madly”, “crawling king snake”, “riders on the storm”.

Possibly the most bluesy Doors album and it’s brilliant

Although I think some of the songs on this album are better than others, you really can't fault the Doors when they're at their best. They deliver amply here, with a bluesy badass vibe and several of the best songs in their career. Fave Songs: L.A. Woman, Love Her Madly, Riders on the Storm, Crawling King Snake, Hyacinth House

I want to tell you 'bout Texas radio and the big beat Comes out of the Virginia swamps Cool and slow with plenty of precision With a back beat narrow and hard to master Some call it heavenly in its brilliance Others, mean and rueful of the Western dream I love the friends I have gathered together on this thin raft We have constructed pyramids in honor of our escaping This is the land where the Pharaoh died The Negroes in the forest brightly feathered They are saying, "forget the night Live with us in forests of azure Out here on the perimeter there are no stars Out here we is stoned, immaculate" Listen to this, and I'll tell you 'bout the heartache I'll tell you 'bout the heartache and the loss of God I'll tell you 'bout the hopeless night The meager food for souls forgot I'll tell you 'bout the maiden with wrought iron soul I'll tell you this No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn I'll tell you 'bout Texas radio and the Big Beat Soft, driven, slow and mad, like some new language Now, listen to this, and I'll tell you 'bout the Texas I'll tell you 'bout the Texas radio I'll tell you 'bout the hopeless night Wandering the Western dream Tell you 'bout the maiden with wrought iron soul This is actually difficult to grade. This is an excellent album the first time you hear it. However, after MANY repeat listens it gets a bit stale. Also, in retrospect these guys stole all the good hooks. Still, it carried me for almost a decade - 4 stars. 4/5

Blues and fine!

I've cooled on the Doors a lot over time, but this album still has classics

Fantastic album with a couple all time classic songs on it. You just can't help but groove to "Riders on the Storm"!

oletuksena helppoa vitosta, heh, pari jättiläistä jota tukee muutama mukava viisunpyhäkkö... paitsi muutama jarring (EI JARRE) biisi jotka tymähtää, tymäyttää albumia ***u**t*... unfathomalbe.dissaointment... ovi lävähtää visusti kiinni heh riders on the storm

Not a super rememberable album aside from the hits everyone has heard 1000 times, but I enjoyed it the way through.

I think a generous 4. Wasn't bad overall and had a few good songs.

Not a classic, but does have some great songs to carry it. Standouts: L.A. Woman, Love Her Madly, Riders on the Storm Others: L'America, The WASP, Been Down So Long 4/5

Very solid blues rock album Favourite tracks: The Changeling, L.A. Woman, Crawling King Snake, Riders On The Storm

Solid album all the way through, and good for the gym!

The second best Doors LP, this was a chilling return to form. Sadly Morrison popped his clogs weeks before the album's release so 'Riders On The Storm' ended up sounding like an erie finale.

Are they meant to be explaining the L.A. woman, are they being the L.A woman? Or are we all meant to be the L.A woman by listening. Who is the L.A woman is she specific or generic and what about the L.A Man, L.A child, L.A Grandma, what about the goddamn L.A dog. Enjoyable music but too many unawsered questions.

Better than I remembered

Classic. I am guessing this will be divisive as some in our number think that Jim Morrison was a twat, but I enjoy it. It has a load of great songs on their, the organ noodling isn't too indulgent compared to their other work and the bangers BANG HARD. Riders on the Storm? Yes, please. Love Her Madly? A great track.

For me this band just doesn’t miss. This is another long, epic journey through the thoughts and mind of the Lizard King himself. Equal parts strange and transfixing. He’s almost putting you in a spell up until the very last note.

This fusion of Blues and Rock features some monster songs - LA Woman and Riders on the Storm plus Changeling, Love her madly, The WASP are also very strong. Morrison is literally at his peak here since he would tragically die shortly after this album and the band, especially Manzarek on keyboards are very tight.

Top 3 Songs: 1 - L.A. Women (5) 2 - Been Down So Long (3) 3 - Riders on the Storm (10)

Era defining but still thoroughly enjoyable and fresh sounding. The looser and more cerebral stuff has mystical qualities which give it a wild, psychedelic style that will always be cool. Compared to the last Doors album we had, there are more R&B and blues elements too (e.g. on Been down so long and Crawling king snake). That addition matches Jim's gruffer voice neatly, taking this album to higher heights. Closing off with riders in the storm was just the cherry on the top. Dead cool.

An inconic album. They do look like a bunch of pervingtons on that album cover though.

LA WOMAAAAN... LA WOMAAAAN

UH! Best Doors album. This is where the Doors became the Doors we know and love. The Doors people emulated for decades to come. Coolest mother fucking vibes. Recommend looking for a video of Ray Manzerek on how they wrote Riders on the Storm. A lot of weed smoked. Sot The Changeling Love her madly Down so long LA Woman L’America Riders on the Storm 4.5/5

Very good but not 100% consistent.

listened

No review needed

Lots of very famous and recognizable work, but listening to this, they feel tired, man. If Jim hadn't died, this sounds like it may have been their last album regardless. They're not "the Doors" here. They sound like "the Doors Playing the Doors".

I’ve always wanted to get into the doors, but I only listened to their titular album. Good album, riders of the storm carrys. 7.5/10

Me gusta, me gusta, me gustaaaaa (ONB)

Era partito bene... E l'ultima è "Riders on the storm", 4 stelle meritate.

i enjoyed it on my 3rd listen. all the songs sound vaguely the same to me but it's not my favorite genre tbh.

Some of my favourite Doors songs but with loads of straight ahead blues around them. LA Woman still sets my hairs standing on end though when it takes off. Tbf it's just track 2 and 3 that I find dull. The rest is pretty great.

Very good, bit boring in the middle but still enjoyed it

very cool vibes, fun listen

Never really attempted to dive into The Doors before. Familiar with a few songs but that’s about it. This is more bluesy and stripped back than I expected. Title track and Riders on the Storm are easy highlights. 3.5

Starting strong

I always thought I didn’t like The Doors but this one was v fun

I really liked this album

Totally perspective changing. Made me rethink Acid Rock and the Doors.

The A-side is perfect but the back half isn't as strong.

Juuuuust makes it to a 4, I think.

Used to love the Doors, played their albums to death. Kinda ruined then for me. Rarely listen to them any more and don't miss them. Good album, just listened to it too much.

HL: title track, “Love Her Madly”, “Riders on the Storm”, “Been Down So Long” Taking out “Riders on the Storm” and “L.A. Woman”, I’m left with a decent blues rock record, but the classics definitely elevate the experience

Start 70’er rock, tilpas mærkeligt, groovy, gammel lyd, fed vokal

This is not my favourite album by The Doors, but definitely it is a greatly atmospheric record, being as close to blues as it is to rock. Jim Morrison's vocal abilities are absolutely amazing, totally one of a kind. I also love Ray Manzarek's keyboard/piano style. On this album it was only partially exposed, but still, "Riders of the Storm" wouldn't be that great without him. Overall just a very solid album.

Cult blues

I don't think I would love this as much if I wasn't brought up on it as a classic. But I was, so I do love it. Four stars probably from nostalgia and familiarity.

Yeah this is fun. It’s not perfect and a few songs drag but overall I get the appeal.

love it

L.A. Woman gives a great indication of where The Doors were going creatively and as the tragic story repeats itself over and over again, we are robbed from finding out what Jim & Co. would do next. 4/5.

Classic. Riders on the Storm to end it.

This one was surprising! I went into it thinking The Doors were "boring", but the album was actually pretty enjoyable for me. Besides "L'America", that song was kinda... not as nice. But all the others had not only this very specific vibe to them, as in they created a unique atmosphere I've never heard in "classic rock" before, but the songs also were written well and in an interesting way. The addition of the organ to rock music during this time is something I quite enjoy, such as what I've heard from bands like Deep Purple Genesis, and it was used much to their advantage, as it added a lot to the depth and variety of the songs, in my opinion. Even at first listen I found myself bobbing my head along to a few of the songs, because like I said, they created this feeling that I can't quite describe, but one which I quite like nonetheless. L.A. Woman is an album I can definitely see myself listening to again in the near future.

Another classic. Jim's ramblings were an oddly perfect compliment to the brilliant musicianship of Manzarek and Krieger.

Sounds fun

Solid blues. One star off for vocals and guitar.

A great album, top stuff!

Awesome

Classic west coast rock/hippie rock Excellent example of the doors at their best Each song tells its own story great mix or blues and rock

Good album. Very Doors. Personal enjoyment - 8.5 Songwriting - 8 Lyrics - 5. Pretty derivative but it works for what it is Originality - 7 Production Value - 10 Artwork - 9 Overall - 7.6

My mom's favorite band. Good band and good album.

Solid overall but lacking the tinge of psychedelica that would make this a 5 for me

This has some bops, very bluesy. I dig it

Finalizar com o hit "Riders on the Storm" foi intenso e arrebatador.

After a couple mediocre releases the The Doors are back in form, taking the best ideas from their blues-based work and fusing into the classic Doors sound. Riders on The Storm will always be iconic

Great 70s album has some of the funniest bass lines and of course the classic riders on the storm

4 sterren. Kom maar door met het volgende Doors-album!

Classic

not my favourite doors album but still v good

Morrison's last album before his death is a powerful collection of memorable songs that still hold up nearly 50 years later.

With less than 150 albums even generated, I have finished all of The Doors' content that is on this list of albums. This album actually had me worried at first, as it almost felt generic in the first half, save for what is perhaps my favorite song by The Doors, Love Her Madly, but similar to the Dennis Wilson album, the second half of this album came in clutch to earn it four stars. However, I thought this one would be my favorite of the three, but it's probably my least favorite, as some of the songs lack that style The Doors had in past albums. Definitely still pretty solid though.

My dad saw The Doors when he was younger. Said JM was totally drunk and fucked up. It was a terrible show and evidently near the end of his life. Nothing did more to form my opinion of The Doors than the Oliver Stone film. JM was a god when that came out. The film ignited an huge interest in poetry, booze, dope, leather pants and kinky sex in my babyfaced 10th grade circle. "Hippy drug culture lovers unite!" Spending some deeper time with this album proved there was more to The Doors thank Jim Morrison and Peace Frog, but not much more. I really enjoyed the bluesy Cars Hiss by my Window and, the trippy L'America. It is apparent that JM really was the power behind the band. I can't imagine the Doors being successful with any other frontman or enjoying the Riders on the Storm without a cool buzz.

Two tragic 27 Club members just over a week apart, and yet again we are left wondering what else these artists' lives would have brought if not for their awful early ends. Amazingly, this was the 6th studio album released by The Doors in their five years as a full group before Jim Morrison's death, and maybe most surprisingly it doesn't feel like an album filled with too many B-sides that should have been cut. Some of the prolific bands of the 60s should have combined their best work into fewer albums, but "L.A. Woman" is strong throughout. The only misstep was "Cars Hiss by My Window," which didn't feature much hissing as it sounded like the band was about to fall asleep midway through. "L.A. Woman" (the song) and the epic "Riders on the Storm" carry the album, but there is plenty more goodness to be found. Morrison and the Doors might have produced more music than Amy Winehouse before they turned 27, but there could have been so much more.

I’m a sucker for blues rock, and this is a good example. The three tracks that I already knew; Lover Her Madly, L. A. Woman, and Riders On The Storm; carry the album well. In between, there some decent tracks too, like their own arrangement of Crawling King Snake. Morrison’s voice growls with a pungent grittiness. It conveys a guttural emotion with his poetic lyrics. I had not known that Morrison was a Navy brat, whose father was an admiral. The constant instability in his surroundings must have been tough and likely led to some of his instability as an adult. Gone too soon, but what an album to be his last with The Doors.

Much more blues oriented than I ever realized. Jim has pipes

A good amount of bangers a good album to mellow to

4.5 for me. Grew up listening to the Doors with my brothers, so I'm attached to the band

A fun one that made for a great driving soundtrack. However, Riders on the Storm was the only track on here that I knew, and it remains the best in my opinion. Favourite: Riders on the Storm

Some great songs, but some filler and, as a result, a bit uneven. On the positive side, it both goes back to basics at the same time as it is forward looking. It also includes elements of blues, rock and even a little soul and funk, but still sounds like The Doors. Riders on the Storm is the last song on their last album and that seems both poetic and right.

A good album, but it's missing what's special about the Doors until the final track. When the keyboard/organ comes in in "Riders on the Storm" we get what we came for. It's fine with me that they also wanted to do other things musically, but that track is the clear standout for me.

MISTER MOJO RISIN YOU GOT TO KEEP ON RISIN RISIN RISIN great album

I had this as a cd in middle school so it got quite a lot of playtime, and I have always really liked it. Some of the more cliche white guy bluesy songs keep me from giving it a 5

4.7. This album slapped me in the face with its funky baselines and electric organ. Idk what I thought the doors sounded like but this was not it. Jared and I strutted down the city sidewalks to the beat. I plan on doing some more struttin on 2nd listen today.

Bestes Album von The Doors bisher. Erinnert mich an den Persona 5 Soundtrack.

Outstanding music great showmanship still a classic.

Love the blues in thus album, wish all the songs were more bluesy

Very jam

it's so stupid but you can't fuck with it

A few of my favorite Doors songs: L.A. Woman and Riders on the Storm. Some rough blues.

A logical successor to Morrison Hotel, L.A. Woman brings the blues a notch further and adds a more contained, mature sound. There are some absolute gems on that album: The Changeling, Love Her Madly, Hyacinth House and L.A. Woman are all really strong and has nothing to envy to the rest of the Doors' discography, in my opinion. Riders on the Storm is their best album closer since Five to One and still sounds magical after all these years. Unfortunately, some other tracks brings the album down a bit, like Car Hiis By My Window and particularly The WASP with its clunky drum solo. The dark, jazzy live version that can be found on In Concert is way better and would have fitted perfectly on the record.

A really good album, but it lacks the psychedelic wonders of their previous works. More focused on blues, it's not as much my cup of tea. That said, it's still a must!

Probably the worst The doors album, still their worst is beyond most rock album. Jim Morisson voice and oresence step up this record.

This might be my least favorite album of The Doors, because I always had difficulties to appreciate pure blues rock, but... This one is so well made and the delivery of Jim Morrison is dirty and perfect in all the imperfections. And, the song "Riders on the Storm", one of the best song ever, isn't it?

Best Song: Been down so long. Raw, violent, expressive, explosive, sexual. This is what I think of when I think of Jim Morrison and the Doors. Worst Song: Love Her Madly. Too much of a surf rock song for my taste. Overall: This is the Doors at their best. Jazzy interludes that feel like pleasant, albeit safe drives through the American countryside that suddenly and inexplicably descend straight to hell as the Lizard King takes over. Jim Morrison plays probably the best Jekyll and Hyde in all of music that it doesn't matter when the quality of his singing deteriorates as he plummets into madness.

Great memories of Lake Wisconsin with the Elmhurst crew.

two mega-hits and some decent body. Sure there's filler, but easily overlooked.

One of those bands that people either love or hate. I've always been a big fan. I like the way Morrison puts it all out there. He was never afraid to take musical chances and risk looking foolish if it didn't work. This is not their absolute best but still got some great tracks. Riders on the Storm is an absolute classic which still gives me shivers.

Een van mijn favoriete Doors albums!

Light my fire aside, first experience of the Doors, so much better than that song suggested. Trippy blues, big fan.

The album jumps around a bit thematically, but top quality and happy to re-listen. Great memories of Need For Speed Underground 2 for the Riders on the Storm remix, as good as the original.

For 1971’s “L.A. Woman”, The Doors turn in their psychedelia in exchange for a more mature, blues-y sound. The band was at the peak of their dysfunction, with Morrison not showing up to sessions half the time (when he did show up, he was wasted out of his mind). Nevertheless, The Doors still managed to create this great record. Is every song on here great? Not necessarily. But I enjoyed the record as a whole.

Yeah pretty good Doors album, probably not my favorite, probably not their best but overall solid.

Ei toki debyytin veroinen mutta varsin kova! Ehkä toisiksi paras levy doorsilta! 4/5

Riders on the storm soinee viikkokausia päässä. Doors kyllä toimii, 4/5.

maybe it was the volume at which i listened, but this faded pleasantly into the background

some ok some bad and some amazing!

Generally great throughout

Great but uneven album. the highs (love her madly, riders on the storm) are some of their best work but the lows are a bit bloated and you can hear the band is almost done with each other. Overall a cracking album, 4 stars.

Riders on the Storm super, reszta taka sobie

Too bad we'll never hear what Jim could've done in the 70s

Enjoyable.

Father Yes Son I want to kill you Mother Yes Son I want to ...

Classic album with some great tracks

Some absolute ★★★★★ classics, but not the same level of consistency across the whole album.

Good album. Love the era, the doors, the police, the clash, etc. 8/10

Groovy, good listening and some songs that stick. #NFSU2

Short and sweet.

Love this classic album, can’t say anything bad about it other than the times where the band is not totally in sync.

Good stuff

I don't think I am alone when I state, "it would be very cool to grab a beer with Jim Morrison, but I don't think I would want to be exceptionally close to him."

I had no money, and i have none

Suciedad. Hondura. Divertida desesperación. Circense? Travesía.

Some understated grooves

Classic

I didn't realize the Doors having such a blues sound. Enjoyed it.

Got to be a candidate with Abbey Road for best final albums. Not five stars because of a couple of slight treading water tracks, L'America in particular but the highs are spectacular.

The Doors tried to modernise their sound by completely breaking away from the now outdated rock psychedelia concept. (7/10) FT: Been Down So Long , Riders On The Storm

i am very behind on reviews

Strong 4, I would fall in love if I was younger

Nutty blues. Some songs remind me of Frank Zappa a bit. cool

Yep, I'll do this again, great stuff

I know people can see Jim Morrison as pretentious, and he is, but he does have the charisma to back it up. That charisma *bleeds* through this record, backed up by absolute powerhouses of musicians. This is their last record with Morrison before he passed, and it's a solid note to go out on. Bluesy, gruff, only one real dud ("L'America"). Favorite tracks: "L.A. Woman", "Love Her Madly", "Riders On the Storm", "Been Down So Long"

Solo in "Been Down So Long" absolutely slaps (generally the guitarwork is fantastic). Haven't ever been the biggest The Doors fan but I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Some great raw vocals.

I like The Doors, but they’re largely a singles band besides the first album. This is probably their next best LP, but I don’t know if your life will improve by listening to most of the deep cuts. Still, it’s all quite good, and “Riders on the Storm” is a hell of a way to cap off their career B

The iconic Doors album.

A distinct sound that conjures images of poolside parties, lines of coke, etc. An exceptional icon.

Can't say I've listened to a lot of The Doors, so this was a good education experience. I am pretty impressed though, of course I know a couple of these songs but I can see why they were so popular.

When I first heard L.A. Woman in the late 70's, I wasn't fully impressed. Their earliest records had a psychedelic, rock sound I preferred and I thought the "mature" sounds of L.A. Woman wasn't for me. Looking back and re-listening to the album throughout the years, it truly is the Doors', career-defining record released before Jim Morrison's untimely death. I often compare it to the Who's, "Who's Next", their classic masterpiece that was anchored by two long epic classic tracks (Baba O'Riley, Won't Get Fooled Again), similarity to the Doors songs, Riders On The Storm and the title track on L.A. Woman. They aren't my favourite albums by those artists, but they are the records that were the high-points (arguably) of their career's.

Good stuff, not my favorite Doors album but still great

very fun album, tons of energy

Overall a solid and interesting record. Found myself getting a bit tired of Morrison's vocal delivery at some points, but the lyrics that he came up with for the album work great with the music. The record sometimes tricks you into thinking that it's just another blues album, but then finds a way to surprise with psychedelic elements, dark lyric themes and weird chord progressions. All the musicians involved in the recording have done a stellar job. Especially I enjoyed the amazing keyboard parts. The keyboardist seemed to always find a way to spice up the arrangement with his haunting organ. Beautiful playing all around. Definitely going to come back to this record when I am in the mood for some Morrison madness.

An album I’ve been listening to my whole life thanks to my parents. A true rock classic.

the diary of a wimpy kid theme simply MUST be inspired by this

good album has stood the test of time

I'm really hit-or-miss with The Doors, but this album is a BANGER. In my opinion some of their best work. There's a fantastic blend of blues, rock and roll, and psychedelic rock that comes together perfectly. Notable track: Been down so Long. Sick blues groove.

Gutes Doors Album. Allein schon wegen Rider on the Storm 4 Punkte.

Great album. A couple of songs I would skip over on further listens.

sonzeira massa

I was moderately obsessed with The Doors and JM for a while in high school. I wrote "I am the lizard king I can do anything" in sharpie on my track spikes for inspiration. It feels weird that Morrison still seems older than me even though I'm now almost twice the age he was at death.

Memories

Yes, it's good album still with Morrison.

Good, Doors & Jim Morrison are highly overrated though.

Always loved the Doors but can’t say I ever listened to this one front to back. Initially I was like “a little too bluesy” but dayum it picks up and Side Two is just fucking nuts. Love it.

Great stuff. I didn't know they did so much 12 bar blues.

Bluesy back to basics album with Morrisons vocals allowed to take the lead. Really enjoyed the collection

A pure blues album. I didn't know the Doors sounded like this, despite recognising a good chunk of these songs. Jim Morrison's voice is gravelly and in keeping with the music. Liked this a lot more than I expected. 4/5

Ovaj album ima toliko dobrih trenutaka.

Oddly enough, je za 5, al imho doorsi imaju boljih albuma (ovaj nije ni top 3) kojima ću to i dat kad dodu na red.

Classic. 4/5 I don't think that L'America ever stood out to me as one of the best songs on this album until now. There are the typical standards on this album that everyone who knows classic rock will know: Riders on the Storm, LA Woman and Love her Madly. Then there are the others like The WASP, that true Doors fans know and love. There really isn't a bad song on the album. Standouts: Riders on the Storm, L'America. Love Her Madly, L.A. Woman,

The older i get the more i dig the more straight forward blues rock Doors. Bearded Morrison is best Morisson.

Iconic music. This is an excellent album.

Prefs: The Changeling, Love Her Madly, L.A. Woman, L'America, Hyacinth House, The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat), Riders on the Storm Moins pref: Cars Hiss By My Window

L.A. woman por si sola es un diez. Raiders on the storm también.

3.5 (Rounding Up) - I probably won't listen to the album again, but definitely will revisit a few tracks. Standout Tracks: Been Down So Long, Cars Hiss by My Window, L.A. Woman, & Riders on the Storm

I always thought the Doors were being unnecessarily pretentious. This is pretty good tho!

Goes a bit pub singer at times

Obviously a classic and their swan song. Lots of memories with this.

Feeling a low 4 on this one (im 5er system)

My Window, Crawling King Snake, Been Down So Long). fav songs The Changeling, L. A. Woman, Hyacinth House, Riders on the Storm

Just added L.A Woman to my Dance party playlist

Classic.

Not as good as their first album, but still pretty solid, would give it a 3.5

Bluesy and enjoyable apart from L'America. Preferred side 1. Changeling and LA Woman are excellent. Already knew and liked Riders and Love her Madly.

Good stuff! :D

Merkilega skemmtileg plata miðað við það sem ég átti von á. Hlustaði á Doors í gamla daga en átti von á því að ég væri vaxinn upp úr þessu en svo var ekki. Riders on the storm alger hápunktur en margt annað töff.

Buena voz y acordes. Algún tema muy reconocido

Very strong A Side, B-Side gets a little slower but Riders on the Storm is a great closer. The Doors were huge for a reason, great album.

L.A.Woman von Doors

Rock, blues. Muy bueno.

Excellent. Sad to have run out of their albums to listen to on the list so early on.

Took me a while to get on Jim’s wavelength on this one but the music itself is so strong that I didn’t mind so much

Favorieten zijn "Love Her Madly" en "Riders on the Storm" ****

I think a generous 4 for this one. It's a pretty funky album but I prefer their debut.

Some see this as a return to form, has some great songs and of course Morrisons Swan Song with the band, "Riders On The Storm". I don't think this is their best but a couple of classic tracks in "The Changeling" and "Love Her Madly"

It has a nice fury to it, but it doesn’t have that full sound I really like. Gives me a nice vibe though with its pumpy(?), hard feeling songs. I really enjoy the instruments they use as well.

Gruff and bearish is my favourite incarnation of Mr Mojo Risin', and overall this is the best Doors album by a long chalk. There are moments of magic sprinkled throughout, but even the more workaday moments sound of a piece. Has an electric piano sounded sexier?

ah, they were a great oul band weren't they?
