Reviews (page 11 of 13)

Blind album and artist. Know nothing of the guy but his name. Good 1st impression and decent album. Apparently I already liked the passenger on spotify??? It's good for sure but don't remember the song.

lana del rey sounds different here kind of like bowie

Could see this being used in background music of an 80s coming of age film. Nothing particularly special, liked the electric guitar and use of cowbell. Nothing bad nothing exceptional!

Okay for listening in the background. Not something I'd revisit.

Quite good. I could live without it, but I wouldn't mind another listen.

Fun listen, could do without Turn Blue. Probably won’t add to rotation but enjoyable anyway

Certainly, I’ve heard of Iggy Pop. However, I never knowingly or purposely listened to his music. The first song and title track, Lust for Life, was immediately recognizable, and this album dropped when I was 2 years old. That’s saying a lot. Not the biggest rock fan, but this album as a whole is decent. Kinda soulful.

56/100

Some classics nothing spectacular-3/5.

I love Iggy. But this, I have to admit, fell short for mdt

Easy listen, fun, buoyant album. I enjoyed it in the background.

good, but that Sixteen song hasn't aged well. And it makes feel weird listening to the rest

Decent

Enjoyed a few songs, but wasn’t altogether that enthused about it.

Is alright. I like the guitar stuff in these songs. Only got through the first listen though. Usually I need a couple of listens before I can decide which songs I like from the album. It's kind of dated for my current music taste.

The hits that have been featured on soundtracks and commercials for years are wonderful, but the album gets bogged down by the other tracks that I just don't have an affinity for.

I really liked the track Sixteen. Overall, it wasn’t bad.

This was fine. I can tell it's Iggy's full performance, not just his vocals that makes this notable. Though The Passenger is a real stand out gem.

recognized lust for life. liked the passenger a lot. overall pretty good.

Catchy, upbeat music

Not bad, but was expecting more from Iggy. I have heard his name before, but never heard his music. 3

I think I could probably make one whole album of the solo Iggy Pop songs that I like. This wouldn't be that album, but would include Passenger and I guess Lust For Life (although I'm fairly burnt out on it from mainlining the Trainspotting soundtrack in my youth). Most of the time I find his lyrics pretty cringe (different times, I know, but we're now in different times so...), and while I do like his singing voice, it can get kinda hokey sounding. I still love you Iggy, I just loved you more with the Stooges.

Heilt greit, men artig.

Some classics on here. Not completely my thing but can’t argue with the classics.

Not what I was expecting from iggy but a pleasant surprise

I recognized Lust for Life and Passenger, primarily from Skate 3. Good stuff, not exactly my jam

Kind of a letdown. Lust for Life is a great opening track. Love it. But then the album devolves into a mishmash of punk, R&B, and some straight-up unlistenable tracks. I don't know. Not very punk, and very different than the opening track. All in all, a dud. Without the opening track, it's 2 stars, w/ it's 3.

Good energy, what you would expect from Iggy

The titular song Lust for Life - a great way to start off this album. Such high energy - matching the ecstatic punk icon Iggy Pop. This album is a weird one for me personally. I really love some tracks - the obvious Lust for Life and The Passenger (which would be my top two tracks - and possibly the most popular tracks in the album) but something about this album doesn’t click with me like some other punk albums that came out in the 70s. Namely Sex Pistols’ Never Mind the Bollocks… that came out the same year. However, with that said, I still think this album has enough substance to keep my interest throughout, and I can definitely appreciate Iggy Pop as a performer throughout. Good album overall.

Off to a great start - filled with others that were equally timeless but a bit of filler too.

Album is ok got some classic songs on there

Didn’t love this but I expected to. Don’t know if his association with Bowie just unfairly raised my expectations or what but this album just didn’t do it for me

I feel like a broken record here, but the more of these albums I hear, the greater the influence I realize Lou Reed has had over the past half century. Listening through Lust for Life, I can’t help but think that Iggy Pop is just a cross between Reed and nineties punk rock in general. The record is driven by the title track and “The Passenger,” whose addictive opening riff is one of the best of the late seventies. Iggy himself may be the passenger in the song, but surely he wants us to realize we’re each the passenger at some point. For as much free will as we may or may not have, there’s always an element of surprise to either fear or to look forward to, but always to anticipate. No? Fuck, I’m not sure. There is promise in some of the other songs, like “Some Weird Sin” and “Neighborhood Threat,” but nothing much else really sticks with me here. There are two classics and a slew of skippable songs, plus the unnecessarily long “Turn Blue.” Some albums get three stars because of how vanilla they are. This album gets three stars because of how all over the place it is.

Solid. I recognized some tracks. Idk if I'd come back to this often. I should learn more about him.

Enjoyable but Iggy Pop isn't entirely my thing.

It gives me kinda rebelious 16 years old teenage vibe. 8/10 bass is everything

Some great stuff here but I wasn't in the mood for the sort of chaos Iggy looked to unleash

Ok album. #2 song is my least favorite, I find it annoying. 3.5 if I could do it

2.5 rounded up. It was OKAY

Fun album. Especially the hits.

Loppua kohde vähä huononi, mutta paree ku oletin!

Songs I like. Lust for Life - reminds me to Just For Laughs comedy club in the 90s, since they used that song before the show started. Then used again in Trainspotting. The Passenger

Strong start. Better than I expected. Success is not good. Weaker second half for sure

Really cool record with some great songs. Favourite tracks: Lust For Life (obviously), Some Weird Sin, The Passenger, Success. Least favourite track: Fall In Love With Me

Decent

see 7/10

A couple mega hit songs that are really amazing. Several other solid songs. And a couple dogs. But overall, an enjoyable way to start the day.

I remember parts of The Idiot but none of this one

Much more melodic and listenable than the Stooges debut. Good improvement, Iggy. The Passenger and title track are legitimately strong pop.

Perfect album to start the day with. The first track Lust For Life literally gives you a lust for life. The Passenger is amazing as well. I also learned some new songs from this album. The last three tracks are happily living their life now in my playlist. If I could give three and a half stars, I would, but I sadly can't.

lust for life is a good track, the rest can be summed up as "this is fine but not particularly interesting to me". this includes the passenger, not sure why that gets the hype it does

Straight out of Iggy's "A bit thirsty" period. I mean its still Iggy, but its a bit sus in places.

Some pretty cool guitar parts. I was expecting basic punk riffs but pretty cool. Don’t think I’d go out of my way again for this album apart from the hits.

Just ok. I don't really get the hype surrounding Iggy Pop's music.

Listened Before? N I struggled with this one. It took me several days to get around to listening to it because I didn't want to. No particular reason other than I just really hate Lust for Life the song. Anyway it turned out okay. Decent punk album from the 70s. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: The Passenger

It just wasn’t really my jam overall.

Remember I mentioned here that I first got into David Bowie with the Let's Dance and Tonight records. I didn't know so much about Iggy Pop until much later. Hearing Lust For Life had me boggling as to why half the songs from Tonight were just covers from Iggy Pop. It may be they were close comrades with no clear boundaries for collaboration versus plagiarization. It's also clear Bowie was part of the production of this record and some of it draws from the funky first half of Low. I can't go back and hear this record before I heard Tonight, so it's difficult to sort out the association and to have an unbiased impression.

Neat. But definitely music for a different era, it seems to me.

Iggy's lust for life seemed to wane as the album went on, as did my enthusiasm. Three downward trends out of five 📉📉📉

Typical old music

Hressilegt stöff. Alltaf gaman að heyra lögin tvö sem David Bowie gaf seinna út, þetta eru svo allt öðruvísi útgáfur.

This is basically how I imagined David Bowie would sound before I listened to any David Bowie. It’s fine.

Pretty ok, but some really questionable lyrics in Turn Blue.

Not better than "The Idiot". Still has some really good songs like "The Passenger" (even if I prefer the Siouxsie version more) and the title track, but then there's also stuff like the song "Turn Blue" which is... something. I appreciate the strangeness at least, even if the song sucks ass. The moral of the story: Don't do drugs or you'll randomly wake up in Germany one day. Also stop smiling at me.

It was ok. It’s quite hard to judge without knowing the context in which this album is on the list.

There's something off about the album cover that I love. Besides that, this was a pretty alright album. I liked the random speaking parts in some songs. Fave track(s): Some Weird Sin, Fall In Love With Me

Enjoyable listen. Drumming reminds me of John Bonham, and the singing/writing of Jim Morrison and occasionally of Plant. Parody? Or respect? Either way, it gets a high 3/5 from me; I would listen again.

Standouts: Lust for Life Others: Sixteen, The Passenger, Tonight, Success Rating: 3.5

I hadn't realised just how many Bowieism similarities there are in Iggys music. Certainly a few tracks in there that have stood the test of time. Quite a good album that has aged well. I can't take too much of Iggy in one go though.

Enjoyed this one!

Just OK. I am onto the two tracks. I knew I had again I didn’t hear anything particularly special. A little bit agitating and probably not my genre.

‘Twas alright. Surprisingly poppy and peppy which is nice but overall not totally my vibe. 6/10

Decent album, few songs I wasn’t a huge fan of

Pretty average by todays standards. Definitely some good songs in there but a few snoozers, too.

It was fine.

Unique sound, up tempo

Some classic hits but not something that I love.

Sure, he’s a creepy looking bag of skin. Sure, he wrote a song about boning a 13 year old girl (which was taken off of Spotify). Sure, this entire album was primarily Bowie music that Mr. Pop sang over. But hey, it ain’t that bad. Could have been a 4 if I was in a better mood. He’s the kind of weird I’d want to see live.

He's a weirdo, i like it

It's a nice sounding album. Not sure if I agree with the lust tho

Some solid, interesting music on this album, though sometimes the vocals weren't cutting it. You can definitely hear Bowie's influence (though Bowie does it much better IMO) and The Passenger is a fantastic song.

This album exists. That's about all I have to say about it. Not bad, not good. Just there

old school vibes

7/10 fuvol

ziggy iggy

Pretty good listen graded on how much I enjoyed it I would give it 3 but including impact on music it would be close to a five the fact that it came out in 1967 is pretty amazing

Not my favorite, still good

The second of IPs collaboration with Bowie ( though you be fair the DB album Tonight also has a lot of IP) and it shows. In not a massive fan of IPs drawl but there are some solid songs. As a student the Passenger was a indie disco mainstay. I feel it flags a bit on the 2bd side

Upbeat version of Lou Reed’s Transformer.

Eh. Wasn't bad. Kinda tired of these rock albums though. I know they are influential and what not but I'd like to get other genres.

im so tired 2day i have nothing witty to say fav tracks: The Passenger, Tonight

There were a lot of songs on this album that I recognized from commercials and movies, but had no idea where they came from. It was ok! I might revisit some songs

It’s giving Bowie but not as good. Like Bowie without the 🤩💖✨💅🏻 or the vibes. Or the personality. Still like it though. Success is good. Hated turn blue. Was okay?.

Iggy does some weird stuff but good.

Sounds too much like David Bowie. Not a surprise given he co-wrote a bunch of the songs and plays in the band. Fine but not special.

A more ambitious album than his earlier work which is ahead of its time when you even think of 2000s indie rock music. However, while I’ll remember the sound, the lack of memorable songs makes it less impactful after first listen.

Gonna come back to this one, seems like a grower (maybe becomes a 4 after another listen or two). I like the Iggy Bowie sound and 'Fall In Love With Me' has some Lou Reed vibes.

Brimming with energy, and the title track stands out even more. But... Each of the tracks, on their own, sounds a bit too simple to me; like they're made of a single riff that's on repeat.

Están las dos famosas, y luego Some Weird Sin y Fall in Love With You, que no están mal.

Liked it. Can see where The Strokes got a lot of their influences from.

There's not a lot that can really be said about this record. The hits, 'Lust For Life' and 'The Passenger', are obviously timeless hard rock classics. 'Some Weird Sin' and 'Tonight' (despite its overly glaring Bowie involvement) are both highlights as deep cuts. There are simply some really forgettable songs surrounding these highlights however. The mixing on 'Sixteen' is a complete mess, there is hardly any room to breath between each instrument. The tune isn't that great either. 'Success' is the most lyrically repetitive track here and sadly makes of a really boring 4 and a half minutes. While I did excuse 'Tonight' earlier, I can't do the same for 'Turn Blue', because fuck me this sounds so blatantly Bowie it's not funny. It's got a few great songs, a few more duds, but overall it's solid. The lightest and featheriest of 3's for this one.

Whoa, first thing to say...and this probably old news, but I've just realised that Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet is pretty close to a straight lift from Lust For Life, bless them. And having just got over the fact that Chas and Dave appear on Slim Shady, I discover that the rhythm section here are brothers and the sons of Soupy Sales a comedian who was all over the sixties and seventies. First thing, straight up the drumming on this record is pretty damn good: great drumming maketh the great rock and roll record. Second thing is, he's got a shirt on the cover, not an good augur for what's to come, a beshirted Iggy won't come out howling. The two big tracks are classics, enough said. Tonight and Turn Blue could come off any 70's Bowie record, Sixteen wants to bust out but you get the feeling Iggy is being held back, you just want him to take his shirt off and shout some shit.

Some good stuff here, and I’d happily listen if someone put it on. Interesting to hear the original of Tonight (I was vaguely familiar with the 1984 Bowie version; the original has a lot more grit!) and to really listen to other tracks I’d heard but not really listened closely to. But I probably won’t pull it off the (virtual) shelf again myself, so 3.5 stars.

Over this whole experiment, Iggy crops up probably more than any other individual lead singer (so far anyway). This is one of the better outings, feels pretty together. Bit weird hearing the tone of his voice vary from bass to treble, but all just about works. Also as always, points knocked off for noncery, which is particularly noticeable in this one.

nice album. passenger is an insanely iconic song. Other songs here were nice too.

I liked certain songs more than others, and I recognized one of them.

Obviously the two big singles are amazing, but the rest was only fine for me. I wouldn't turn it off, but I wouldn't choose to put it on.

A very good album built around 3 great songs.

Can feel the David Bowie influence on this one and there is enough that is unique with it that it doesn't come across as some contrived, wannabe production. With that said, I think the raw, oozing, sounds of his efforts with the Stooges feel more genuine. Making this one seem just a bit tame comparatively.

vocals are pretty hit or miss at times. 3

Interesting kind of punk sounding, lust for life is the only song I recognized. It was ok playing in the background while doing something

Iggy pop is a bit of a bop

It would be cooler if his name was ciggy instead of iggy because this album sounds like how the smoking circle outside a dive bar smells. 3 stars

Its alright

A vibrant and at times jubilant sounding album, with subject matter that is almost entirely anything but. The production and the energy of the album lives right on the outer edge of the uncanny valley of pop, that draws you in with its quirk and curiosity.

Liked it!

The Passenger is the clear highlight

It's alright but relatively samey

Some of the songs were good, like The Passenger. Overall the album was fun to listen to.

Not knowing the Bowie connection until after I listened and read the Wiki I was amused that while I was listening I was thinking it was too bad he had to compete against Bowie. Still a bit distortion-heavy on the vocals

Some nice riffs but a bit drawn out in places.

Having listened to the Idiot earlier this week, this is a big step down from that. It doesn't have much atmosphere and the production is a lot less interesting.

Possibly not as good as The Idiot, but still great.

Title track is a fucking bop. The Passenger is fucking bop. The rest I can do without.

Interesting chose after Transformer yesterday, what with both having a Bowie connection. However, this seems to have more of Bowie’s thumbprints all over it, sounding in large parts like one of David’s albums from around that time. Iggy himself feels a bit swamped here. The opener and closer are fantastic. As are The Passenger and Some Weird Sin, which sounds a lot more like Iggy than much of this set. But the other half of these selections suffer from not sharing more of the Stooges gene pool. I love Bowie, but this is not meant to be a Bowie album, and I feel like I am missing out on something as a consequence.

One of the founders of punk Lust for life is okay - repetitive The Passenger uses the 4 chord progression - most plays on spotify unsurprisingly - also repetitive (just uses same 4 chords) Tonight and Some weird sin also not bad

Love Iggy.

Way ahead of its time in some songs. Some Weird Sin, The Passenger, Neighborhood Threat Also, is a pedophile.

Didn't listen to the whole thing will get back to it, feels nostalgic even though I didn't listen to this when I was younger.

need to listen to more intently, less distracted eventually

Pretty low key for Iggy. It was alright but I'm not running back.

Great. 3.5/5

pretty neat very bowie inspired 3.5

I like it. Pretty good

dunno that much tbh. seeems fine

After the post-punk stepping stone that is The Idiot, Iggy Pop returns mere months later with another album that comes raging in, best exemplified by the excellent title-track opener. I love the drums on this more than anything, what can I say. Compared to The Idiot though, this album significantly tones it down and brings things to cruising speed. This especially evident on side B, which is fine. I like Iggy Pop, for what it's worth, but the slow stuff doesn't do much for me. This album, though, is still an important part of Bowie's Berlin saga, as the producing of this album helped inspired Bowie for "Heroes". The great thing about Lust For Life is that it brings out the best in two great musicians and friends (even if I don't jive with it completely), and that's awesome.

I truly love the cover of this album. Who knew such a portrait would be so subversive of album norms? I've always loved the title track (slightly soured perhaps by repeated cruise commercials). And "The Passenger" is a cool song (which was very nicely redone by Siouxie and the Banshees, and that may be the version I knew better). Other than those songs, I really wasn't familiar with Iggy Pop's music, so I was very glad to finally listen to a signature album of his. He's one of those icons whose fame I know, but not whose music I know. I didn't love it, but I still enjoyed the journey.

I know a few tunes from Iggy Pop, but never thought that I would be interested in much more than that. Turns out that I liked this album more than expected. About half of the tracks I liked and the others ranked from okay to tolerable.

This album is kind of a 3 for me but Lust For Life and The Passenger are great songs so they kind of bump it up to a 3.5 -- so it really comes down to home keen I am to listen to this again. How much Iggy do I need in my life?

Not a bad album. Enjoyed the music. Still not a big Iggy fan.

Energisk, hard rock, Bowie-produktion

Some really good stuff here, like the title track.

Some iconic songs, trends in a direction that I enjoy. I’d listen to it again, but not something I see myself revisiting. I also mistakenly listened to Lou Reed’s “Transformer” thinking it was today’s album, and enjoyed it more than this. Best song: Passenger, without a doubt

thought i would like this more, just average imo

Pretty good album here. Much better than raw power. Lust for life is a classic song and the pretender is solid with the help of Bowie. The whole album had a softer Bowie/punk vibe. It was a good listen. 7.1/10

A very good album with a lot of hits. I'm sadly just not a fan of Iggy, but I totally understand the hype. That said, I had a good time listening to it. Also, The Passenger sounds like Femme libérée.

I really don't know how to rate this album. There are songs that I adore unconditionally like The Passenger, Some Weird Sin or Lust For Life, but others that I don't care about and that I find unmemorable. I guess 3 stars are gonna do it.

Clearly influenced by Bowie, recognized more than a couple tunes.

Some great songs. And some other songs.

Não me chamou muita atençao

Aye it’s decent. I suppose.

Couple of absolute bangers and rest is very decent.

Better than expected and definitely more enjoyable when you can't see his half naked frame cavorting around.

Lust for Life and The Passenger get the glory, and they should as they are great songs, but the rest of the record shows a stretch for Iggy. Even the album cover shouts that this is going to be something that moves toward a more consumable product; more Pop than Iggy. Bowie is ever present (Tonight, Success,…). That said, a lot of this lacks the energy one expects from Iggy. But… Sixteen and Turn Blue get a bit… uncomfortable.

Lust and Passenger obviously the best tracks- and such great tracks! The other tracks..........well.

Passenger is a kick ass song, and the sound is consistent through the album. I'm not a huge fan of his voice, and some of it gets pretty poppy (heh) for me.

Solid classic rock.

This is ok. Makes you think twice about doing loads of drugs incase you end up like Iggy pop

Had some good boogies on there

Solid 3, i liked it overall, funny guy

Already knew best two, Rest of the album was ok too, So one more than two. 6/10

Sort of a mixed bag. The song that I knew best going in was The Passenger, which is a pretty awesome song. However, there were a couple sinkers too. In particular Sixteen and Turn Blue which I had to skip halfway through. Most of the album was OK. Not bad at all, but no other song came near to the quality of The Passenger.

Dois clássicos em meio a músicas medianas.

Cool songs, especially The Passenger.

Low-rent Bowie with more guitars.

3. I give it a solid straight 3. Lust for Life and The Passenger carry the album but those 2 tracks are amazing!

Neutral about this. A couple of good songs. The rest I didn’t like

Has raw, raucous original energy. Lust for Life, The Passenger and Neighborhood Threat are all great, the rest of the album is solid, but i don't think i enjoy it enough to push it to the 4 territory. Still good.

It was not bad.

First half great, second half not so much. 3/5 bc the 1st half vibe was nice.

It was alright, nice to put on the background, not putting much thought into. Second half of the album was much more interesting than the first.

Iggy Pop has never done much for me, gave it a shot but this album doesn't change that. Would be a 2 but 'The Passenger' is undeniably an banger so, in lieu of a 2.5 it gets a 3.

better than i thought, but not for me

One good song

Leuk plaatje!

Lekker bezig Iggy!

This turned out to be better than expected. Knew the singles of course but there are others on the album that are better.

not sure what i was expecting. good beats and good for head bopping. I don't necessarily think I'd listen to this over and over again but it was fine!

3.8 - I loved Trainspotting as a teen so it’s hard not to get pumped for the title track. And there’s the Passenger, too. Aside from those…I don’t know, I guess I was expecting more from Bowie and Iggy. It’s a little tame compared to those early Stooges records. Iggy ‘s kicked off his fishnet stockings for a pair of fitted khakis.

véééééél beter dan de vorige! enter bowie

The solo Iggy Pop's career is not my preferred and this album specifically hasn't much to say for me. However, it's still nice to see how these guys that I know as "classic rock" and "proto-punk" sound with many varieties of styles and songs and were soo much "out-of-the-box" even 40 or 50 years ago. Modern bands should learn more of this kind of thing from the old school and not just the bad things.

interesting to lsiten to

Good rockin beats but nothing outshines the title track. 3.5/5

I hate that a cruise line has made me associate "Lust for Life" with commercials. I'm behind, so I'm not saying too much about this one. Points (-3 to +3, with 0 as neutral) Lust for Life: +1 Sixteen: 0 Some Weird Sin: +1 The Passenger: +1 Tonight: +1 Success: +1 Turn Blue: -1 Neighborhood Threat: -.5 Fall in Love with Me: +1 Total: 4.5 Favorite Tracks: The Passenger, Lust for Life, Tonight Liked Tracks: Some Weird Sin, Fall in Love with Me Least Favorite Tracks: Turn Blue (pretty much just for the screaming parts, and that it's a bit long), Neighborhood Threat.

Some excellent tracks (Passenger, Lust for Life, Tonight) and some misses. I imagine if Bowie were singing the tracks we’d declare this a masterpiece. As it is, it’s solid.

Not my bag. Good just not my thing.

When you listen to this you understand just how much contemporary indie/garage bands ripped off Iggy Pop in the name of "back to basics".

Gets a bit dragged down by an inferior second half, but the rest really brings it all together.

I'm vaguely familiar with Iggy Pop, so this is my first full album listen. Some really catchy tunes in here, nice rock with with edge, and great energy. I enjoyed it.

Pretty good. Never listened to Iggy before. Liked it.

It's fine thumping rock and roll music, but it never rises above "just fine" to me.

I enjoy some of Iggy’s stuff but this album doesn’t do a lot for me. Massively progressive for the year. Passaneger is over rated but Lust for Life is a good craic. Neighbourhood Threat is super modern sounding. I’d never have guessed this song was from ‘77. Not overly into Iggy to give this a fair crack of the whip. I love his latest album done with Josh Homme. Post Pop Depression. Worth a look.

It was pretty good. Some of the songs sounded similar to the others, but overall it wasn't a bad album by any means. Favorite track: The Passenger

Decent and catchy but couldn’t vibe to 2/3

felt a bit like a bootleg David Bowie, had some good tracks but nothing to write home aboout

It's alright. I would rather just listen to a Bowie album though. Highlights: 1, and 4.

Not bad

This would have been a 5 star if I were 23 when the album came out.

Only listened to The Passenger before, kinda nice album

Pretty good rock album. "Lust for Life" & "The Passenger" are amazing.

If I had to pick my favorite work from Iggy Pop, it would be from his role on "The Adventures of Pete and Pete". I know songs from Iggy Pop, like "Lust for Life" and "The Passenger", as well as some familiarity with him as an artist. This was my first time listening to a full album from Pop. It gets the "okay, I guess". I had no idea that Bowie helped create so much of this album.

Better than I expected. I had heard Lust For Life and Passenger before, and didn't realize they were both on the same album.

Don't like Iggy Pop as much I thought. Prefer the Stooges era to Bowie

In some ways quite Bowie-esque, and the singles are classics. But the backing singing is a bit weird, and some of the lyrics are a bit inane. It's ok.

Decent, some classic tracks. Can see how newer bands like QOTSA were inspired. Easy listening, sometimes a bit psychedelic rock, bit Bowie-ish

Was fine. I hadn't realized it was a David Bowie collaboration. Nothing really stood out for me beyond the 2 hits (title track and The Passenger).

3/5 there were some good ones in this, but ultimately no.

That was an interesting ride, with some songs that sounded completely original, and others that could have been from David Bowie or the Rolling Stones. It definitely covered a lot of ground.

More upbeat than the Idiot and more melodic than Pop's prior punk leanings.

Good punk edge

Really good in parts, for me half of the songs not that interesting. A high 3.

expected a bit more

poppy fun, but nothing huge for me

It feels like a "Now That's What I Call Music From Commercials" album in some places. I want to like this more than I do. I hope to revisit it at some point. But doubt it.

With Bowie's help Iggy punches out some raucous, raunchy rock with Lust for life. The Passenger is also a classic song. Turn blue is an interesting.... well turn, but it almost sounds like a fish out of water on this album. Overall a solid effort.

Not as bad as I thought it was going to be!

Hearing echoes of Franz Ferdinand here. Some good punk tracks.

Racuous as expected - I like it. 6/10

Definitely a lot of talent, some gems, a lot kind of sounded the same to me.

a rather enjoyable record with some outstanding classics

Catchy enough album. Highlight was clearly "The Passenger". Starting to blend into the "70's/80's rock" pile though, not sure anything about this really stuck out to me.

Not bad. Solid garage rock entry. Iggy does better when he’s yelling than crooning.

its fun

Semibängeri Helt jees klassisk rock.

3 - Die lederhaut liefert

Endlich mal ein Klassiker! Kennt man, liebt man. Iggy, bester Mann.

Didn’t pay most attention, but sounded fun.

Really enjoyed thia

Not bad, a few good songs.

This was great! Didn't know the album of 'that thing' was solid from start to finish

Solid, can definitely tell its a bowie production. Would give 3.5 stars. Only downside is that it gets rather stale mid-way through, lacking a change of pace song or a really catchy chorus.

Just eh. Nothing special. Idk don’t hate me, not my taste

Thought it was interesting, not necessarily bad, had some like psychedelic rock vibes to it, saved one song for later

Some great track but generally difficult to listen to.

Not everything is my jam

Good enough.

The songs about young, pure, hot girls are gross, but otherwise some good tunes on this.

Decent

Fav Song: The Passenger

He’s got a bit more Bowie to him than I realised

Couldn't get into the lyricism. The songs were fine. 3....ish.

3.5/5. Not a lot of replay-ability here for me. Maybe too early rock-ish. Standout Tracks: Some Weird Sin, The Passenger, Turn Blue

Meh. The first song "Lust for Life" was in a water park or theme Park commerical in the 2000s. This album was boring. I'm sure he was a pioneer in punk or something . Still meh

The album was okay, but I am starting to come to an understanding that I don't like listening to full albums of certain types of rock.

Not enough variation for me to raise this above a 2, although I don’t think it’s an indictment. There were fun songs!

objectively shit but good meanings all always with iggy

The passenger is a banger, but I feel like this wuold have just been retreading old territory even when it was released and I can't see how this justifies it's place in the list

Iggy Pop….just don’t get it. Never have. Some iconic tunes, but he’s speaking/shouting all the time and ruins it. Generous 2

My god, what a boring album. I'd write a longer review, but now I need a nap.

sounds good as well 2.8

Yeah, no thanks. 2

I honestly hated this. Sounds really dated and don’t really like the guitar tones. Find the songs really boring and Iggy just sounds like he is taking the piss the entire time. But not in a fun way. Love Iggy, but don’t need to come back to this.

I'm not a big fan of British artists during this era that skew blues.

Not for me

Standouts: Sixteen (mangler mere koklokke), Passenger (selvsagt), Turn Blue (3:56 - Bleuh)

The Passenger is pretty good but otherwise ehhhh

Not for me, other than The Passenger.

The production on this sounds way too ass to be from 1977.

Meh. Not my fav

Unremarkable, easy listen.
