Reviews (page 11 of 13)
Meanders a bit, but sometimes in a good way.
Other than Kashmir not their best work
It's fine
Not their best album. Also too long
Ok ok like i dig but you know didnt set my hair on fire. They had that like one song from Godzillas armpits
Led Zeppelin were better than this, there's a decent album in amongst all this bloated overbaked filler
I listened to the first half whilst at work. Kashmir is such a good tune, but the rest was bored blues guitar. I thought it would get better on the drive home, and cracked it up, but honestly it wasn't all that. To be generous, I imagine it's a classic case of everyone copying whatever they did that was innovative until it sounds retrospectively generic.
Kashmir is such an epic track! The rest of the album gets lost in itself, probably because it's too long. Reduce the runtime and excessive bluesy riffs and it'd be a much more engaging listen.
You ever eat too much of the same thing and the thought of it makes you sick? Well, there was a year in high school where all I listened to was Led Zeppelin, and I've steered clear since. Not my favorite of their albums. Could cull a few so it's not a double album and it would be a higher score. One positive is there are some moments through the album where John Paul Jones and John Bonham really shine... When the other two give it a rest for a second.
This was ~ok~ just kind of low energy.
Kashmir and Down by the Seaside stand out for me. I’m sure they would have been great live.
In high school I thought Robert Plant had the most incredible voice in the world. Now I find it a little screechy and insufficiently soulful.
Great band but nowhere near their strongest collection of songs
Good album. A little too long - not sure if the original was this long or if they added songs when they remastered. In any case, they are some great songs ("Kashmir" and "Trampled Under Foot") and some snoozers ("In My Time of Dying". "Ten Years Gone" and "Down By the Seaside"). I liked the rest of the songs. Overall, I enjoyed the album but I'm thinking there is maybe one disc worth of really good material here.
Classic Rock. Record/Vinyl rock and roll feeling. Get drunk background music. More chill kind of rock and roll. Custard Pie - 1990 Remaster The Rover - 1993 Remaster In My Time of Dying - 1990 Remaster (Excellent beginning buildup, but very long song) Houses of the Holy - 1990 Remaster Trampled Under Foot - 1990 Remaster Kashmir - 1990 Remaster (Classic background duh duh duh, duh duh, duh duh duh) In the Light - 1990 Remaster Bron-Yr-Aur - 1993 Remaster Down by the Seaside - 1993 Remaster Ten Years Gone - 1990 Remaster Nigh Flight - 1993 Remaster The Wanton Song - 1990 Remaster Boogie with Stu - 1993 Remaster Black Country Woman - 1993 Remaster Sick Again - 1993 Remaster Overall - Kinda boring, easy to zone out and not pay attention to, but it has the classic rock sound still.
I like Led Zeppelin but not that much. This was a good album but with too many songs some I felt were fillers.
First disc was better than I'd like to admit. Albeit some songs felt like they went on too long. Got bored by disc 2. But has classic led Zeppelin sound which is hard to deny being good
"Kashmir" reminds me of the intro of the German TV Show TV Total. Rest was okay, but nothing that stood out.
Finally through all five of the Led Zeppelin albums featured on this list. Funnily enough, I drew their other four albums in like a three month span last year. Anyway, years of pumping out albums certainly allowed LZ to be a little more creative here. With any LZ record, you need to be a bit patient to take in everything first but some funk, prog rock, and orchestral rock seep in amongst the hard rock that LZ is known for. Things slow down tremendously after "Kashmir" though, which is basically the halfway point of the album. Not necessarily a slog (although one can only take so much of Plant's vocals), but the shift in tempo/quality is noticeable. Suffice to say, not quite LZ's best overall body of work but some interesting and cohesive tracks here and there.
Looked up what I said about Led Zep IV, and this is definitely better. However…they added songs to make it a double album, and I really think they could have dropped a couple of songs and made it a single album instead. Also, Rage Against The Machine really ripped off the start of Kashmir, didn’t they?
The first half of this album had me thinking, "oh, so this is the good Led Zeppelin album!" - some absolute bangers there. But then, it just kept... Going... And I was a little disappointed by the end. Kashmir, Houses of the Holy, Trampled Under Foot - stone cold classic rock, no complaints. The rest was either fine, or a bit crap. Oh well, maybe the next Led Sep album will be the one where it all comes together. Not holding my breath though.
I didn’t like the remastering quality. They prob have better albums.
I like Kashmir but the rest not as much
I like led zeppelin less then I thought
Favourite song: Trampled Underfoot. Good song for a workout. Great melodies, impressive guitar. Not many songs I could listen to over and over again.
this was pretty medium! sorry I don't have anything interesting to say.
Kashmir is fantastic. The rest of it is fine. There's a lot here, but I don't really care about most of it. It's still pretty good.
skuffet pga. hype
This has a reputation and I dont see it exactly rhe same way. It doesn't have as many big big songs on it minus kashmir, as I was expecting. And it's solid. Very solid. Just less flash than I would have expected. I'll spin her round again to see but not that mind blowing.
Liked this one ok. Didn't really grab me, felt repetitive and uninspired. It also dragged on, especially on disc two. I know this album gets a lot of love, and maybe I just wasn't in the right space to really absorb it. I didn't hate it and there were a couple great songs but I overall just felt bored listening to it. Standouts: Kashmir, Ten Years Gone Rating: 3.25/5
I am a Led Zeppelin fan - this, however, if not my favorite Led Zeppelin album. Kashmir rules! I give this a three. Also love In My Time of Dying and Houses of the Holy. You don't have to make every song ten minutes you guys! It's ok!
I liked it but I also wish that there was a bit more structure. 3.5
Has a few good moments, but shows the limitations of album oriented music... Definitely drags in places
I don't know if it's possible for me to "listen" to this again. I mean, I can play it, but (like Murmur or Rumours) it's already so loud in my head.
Disc one was good. Disc two felt like filler. All these songs would be better if they were half as long, but I feel that way about 90% of zeppelin songs
This is a pretty solid album, I liked the second half more than the first, I’m not sure I can describe why but the first few tracks didn’t click much with me, I enjoyed the slower tracks of the second half more, I do think with was a solid album though it’s a classic for a reason. Rating: Good (Strong ☆☆☆) Favorite Tracks: Down By The Seaside, In The Light, Kashmir.
I already knew this album but it had been a few years since I last listened. It was okay. I know this is a fan favorite but I just didn't vibe with it overall. There were a few songs that were amazing though but as a whole It was just okay for me
Good to try a new style - very cool but just not for me - I can see how it is for so many others though - thanks!
Loved about half the album
Classic led zeppelin. This is probably my 6th favorite zeppelin album and I still really like it which is pretty crazy. The songs are super varied across the whole album and very quality. I think there is something lost compared to the other albums in terms of songs with a real punch. Outside of kashmir their isn't anything with that power. Some of the songs ramble a bit too long as well, contributing the the 1.5 hour runtime. That's what brings it down a bit to me, but still really cool album
It has really good songs, but for me its just too long and there are different levels of songs on this album that combined with its length takes the great ship down. (3.5/5.0)
3.5
Ya know… never been able to get into led zeppelin
Led Zeppelin is Led Zeppelin but this record didn’t really blow me away or anything. Guitar riffs were kind of repetitive in most songs. Objectively, it’s cool but yeah just not what I’d seek out. Favorites: The Rover, Down by the Seaside, Ten Years Gone
Always loved Kashmir and I could listen to most of this again but nothing really captivating
Music’s great but the bloat on this double album makes me waver on my rating. Like, I really like the song Kashmir but it’s too repetitive to run for 8+ minutes.
Trots along nicely then you hit Kashmir - classic - takes it to another level
More chill than I expected, Kashmir is obviously great but the album was quite long... felt a bit too much
Feels kinda swampy, groovy, grundgy. Why is the first song called custard pie? Seems a bits mysogynistic. Like I know nothing about music but the git long guitar solos seem unneccasary and a bit showy off-y. The lead singers voice is really jarring. The songs go on a bit too. Like I see why people like it but not for me
I'm only familiar with a handful of tracks from this album. there are quite a few really good ones on here-love the driving beats, and forward guitars, Plant's vocals are stronger than other albums. BUT it is waaaaaay too long. should have been divided into two entirely separate albums & would have been much stronger. 3.5 stars
I liked ittt. I gotta listen to more led zeppelin fr. Very cool sound
Propper hard rock.
A rambling shambles of an album that not even Kashmir can salvage! Didn’t get them back then and still don’t get them now!
Classic blues and rock, good punch to the face in a double album, filled with classics
Favourite zeppelin so far. I wasn't too huge on their other stuff (obviously it's enjoyable and amazing, but it's not blowing me away) but side C of this! Wow. Incredible.
This project has made me warm towards Led Zeppelin to some degree. I really wasn’t a fan at the start of this list, but I can see the appeal in a certain time and place now. But end of the day, I’d rather listen to Long Train Running than Trampled Under Foot or Wake Up than Kashmir.
All in on Zep I fear
Mais um disco que sofre do mal do disco duplo: acaba tendo coisa demais que poderia ser resumida em um disco só. O fato de apontarem muitas direções diferentes ao mesmo tempo que traz músicas interessantes, acaba tirando o foco do disco.
Kashmir and Bron-Yr-Aur were good, but since I left my air guitar at home the rest of the album wasn’t as fun.
I was not a super fan. It seemed okay in the background.
It’s good, just not into the sound
Zeppelin are always great on the singles, but repetitive in an album. Some outstanding tracks in kashmir and houses of the holy but overall a dull experience. I don't see myself returning to the album just the hits.
Boomer rock doesn't do it for me, mid
Never gave this a listen before, but I am very familiar with LZ1 and LZ4 so I have some perspective. A decent addition to the discography . Led Zeppelin always gets bonus points from me because their lyrics are only really about 3 topics: 1. LOTR and other mystical realms 2. Love making (Minus points for having a ton of lyrics that didnt age well.) 3. Bluesy type shit Definitely too long.
Starts off strong, rocks hard, and then runs on for about an hour too long.
Not my favorite classic rock album, but there are definitely a few good songs on it (especially Houses of the Holy).
Turns out LZ had a lil twang era. I shouldn’t be surprised by their blues & folk influence yet here I am. Also, love that rock & roll piano in “Boogie with Stu”
I won't rock but this album is so authentic
Very cool rock albu
strong rock album 3.5/5
am sitting down to listen to this while i try 2 help my friend w a poem theyre writing lets go. man i enjoy this (custard pie is so crunchy!) but we are just gettin unrelenting dad rock arent we. at least its back in "cishet man who seems to kinda like women" territory w better sex innuendos. okay the rover is [catbop] [catbop]. this is the dad music of basic technical competence i see (do NOT AT ME abt the stones i do NOT want to hear it until we hear a stones album that doesnt suck ass). i do rlly love the chords/moodiness of the rovers pre chorus. in my time of dying i love how bendy the guitar is [checks timestamp] okay but bro. MORE eleven minut e songs even if youre the thinking dads rock youre not telling me u couldntve shaved a couple seconds even off this one. okay houses of the holy is reasomably short and kinda fun. the crunchy guitar that was so charming on the first couple seconds of custard pie (which i keep wanting to call custard apple for some reason??) is kinda blending everything together at this point tho :/ i say rigjt before trampled under foot comes on ROCKING. this feels like a song that Should be abt gay sex (maybe all the refs to leather + automobile engines) but its merely abt boring heterosexual sex probably. ohhh i think ive heard kashmir b4 bc i felt dread as the climbing chord motif started n was like god this is 8m long isnt it lo and behold,. okay kashmir has 2 either be heavily sampled or played OR its reffing smth specific itself right? or is it just that its hitting the most prime stereotypical "we r western musicians grabbing some asian/north african musical motifs with both hands" motifs 2 go w the name + lyrical imagery n thats why its familiar, its the exact same little chromatic turnarounds that Everyone uses + theyre now in "unoriginal fantasy desert region" music (like in their incorporation into westerner composition 2bc their use in the original cultural music of asia/africa is most definitely original lmao)? oh good in the time it took me to write that it ended. NOW theres a WHOLE OTHER SECOND ALBUM OF THIS SHIT. oh my god in the light just picks up the same place as kashmir left off fuck me. im not hating this comparatively but im not gonna be loving it in another forty fucking minutes. okay i love the ominous upscale n creepy stretched out harmonized vocals. dude im just asking if u can maybe pick 1-2 songs to b in the 8-11m range not like...fuck bro what is this the 4th by now? at least? i get it bro im an overdrafter! im 25k words into a game script thats like maybe 1/3 written + im gonna have to edit it down by at LEAST half the wordcount when im done. but also jfc ykno sometimes editing for brevity improves the artistic power of ur ideas right! i think 1 or more of these tracks could really grab me by the throat but theyre like stuck supervillain monologing allowing me 2 sneak away OH SHIT ITS A 2M 6S SONG LED ZEPPLIN TURNED AROUND AND CAUGHT ME HALFWAY OUT THE DOOR oh its an instrumental im fine. ill take it tho this is lovely. okay another 5m track as led zeppelin recollect their days down by the seaside ive cut the ropes hiding me to this chair n tiptoed out to hide behind a large potted plant while the guards go rushing out. CMON U WERE ROCKING FOR A SECOND DOWN BY THE SEASIDE. have been informed that this is the one led zeppelin album they DIDNT edit for brevity oh goodie me...like i like this stuff on a second to second basis okay but i might need a tolerance break from dad rock. maybe its better as bg music? is rhat heresy? oh i love the intro to ten years gone...okay but again. maybe i need to listen to this as bg music but as what? like i guess if i were in a movie its gr8 movie montage music but i live in real life unfortunately. like aimlessly making out? maybe that would be too pretentious / not fun / gay / weird enough 4 my preferred brand of canoodling (<-- has never put on bg music during any romantic activity so has no idea). maybe writing but not if it was a high emotional intensity scene. cooking? NOT cleaning n prolly only coding or art if i didnt need to lock in. its like perfectly good in the bg im sure but trying to listen to it and have thoughts makes me focus on the ways in which it doesnt work as focus music. okay night music here we go this is like road trippy bopping bug fixing code energy level! see i dojt have time for as long of a complaint tangent in the middle CMON CMON NOW MEET ME IN THE MORNIN WONTCHA MEET ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGH NIGH NANANANIGHT. i rlly do still love the crunchy electric guitar thruout im like vaguely cultured enough to kno thats like an LZ specialty. oh ive heard boogie w stu at some point maybe? yeah im just out of steam can i get an editors cut of this one. i want the vers of these songs that are just [GESTURES PUTTING HANDS ROUGHLY SHOULDER WIDTH SPACING APART AND THEN SCOOCHING BOTH ENDS CLOSER TO THE MIDDLE LIKE IM PUTTING THIS ALBUM IN A TRASH COMPACTOR OR HYDRAULIC PRESS] scoooch it in, yknow,. im reminded that maybe in my data entry job days i couldve grown 2 like this thru captive audience stockholm syndrome (phone has to stay face down on desk) but i just generally have too much agency in my life now im no longer the man who listened to every single sufjan stevens song on spotify (as of 2019) in chronological order. (DONT do this. HE HAS TEN (10) XMAS ALBUMS OF 10 SONGS EACH.) YAAAAYY im done. uh i have to rate it. 3/5 (like its higher than the cure in that more of the music is actively enjoyable but only slightly bc its also even fucking longer). would i buy a physical copy of this? if the vinyl looked cool sure but mainly so i looked smarter than i actually am, maybe that wouldve worked on my exgf. standout songs: the rover, trampled underfoot, night flight, abt 30s of most songs. critical weakness: girl its just too fucking long. i cant even call it padded more like its a block of raw unpolished marble you didnt finish taking the elephant out of. [kneeling to say bedtime prayers like 1950s boyscout] can i get a shorter and different genre album tomorrow god or santa claus or whoever?
i'll never forget dragging my family to go look at these buildings on an NYC trip when i was 13. Zeppelin were the first band i properly found on my own when i stopped getting my taste from video games or whatever was being played around me, and this album in particular had a real hold on me for a while. i spent a lot of time in middle school talking this up as my all-time favorite, and while that doesn't ring true anymore i still find myself drawn to the same things about it this record draws from both the rugged sound of their first two eponymous albums & the mystic introspection of the latter two, and would be my pick for the album most representative of the band overall. it makes sense considering that a number of these songs were taken from sessions for previous albums, and the sequencing here does a great job to keep that balance intact & not lean too much into one particular sound. the exception to that is the final side, where they cram all the shitty blues rock songs into the last 15 minutes (on that note, Sick Again has somehow the grossest lyrics of any song so far) JPJ remains the unsung hero of this band, and the varied sound of this record is largely due to his contributions. Bonham rarely sounded better than he did here; the presence of the drums on tracks like In My Time of Dying/Trampled Under Foot/Night Flight is just so effective. the kick squeaks so much! this is a double album that doesn't feel its length to me, which is especially impressive given the 11-minute song. the stretch of tracks from the beginning til about 10-11 songs in has some of their best moments in their catalog music, and a level of consistency that i don't think quite exists on any of their other records. it holds up quite well for me & i'd probably put it 1st or 2nd among their albums; i guess we'll see for sure when other ones pop up on this list god chase utley was so cool
I've heard this album before. Some great songs on here, and Jimmy Page's guitar talents are on display throughout. But overall the songwriting isn't consistent enough to support a double album. Though, ironically, the very fun Boogie with Stu, recorded previously, was only included because it was a double album...Page said he'd never put it on a "single album". The same is likely true of Black Country Woman. With apologies to Mark Ratner, I'm only going to give this one 3 stars.
A bit too hit-and-miss for a 4, so it's a 3 for me. Some things that I like and some that I can't even remember listening to immediately after they end.
Although Physical Graffiti is supposed to be Led Zeppelin's peak album, I don't like it nearly as much as their earlier numbered albums. Other than a few standout songs, the rest of the long album kinda falls into background music mode. It doesn't have the catchiness or strong rhythms of their earlier works - they branched into a lot of different styles here that don't connect as well for me. Kashmir is a cool song though, especially at the 3:24 and 6:40 minute marks.
Aside from relentless punishment with endless Cohen and Costello, one of the good things about this list is that it caused me to listen more directly to Led Zeppelin. I was initially not a fan, largely due to relentless overplay on the radio during my youth, but working through the albums here and listening more, I have come to appreciate them much better, so when I saw this album come up, I had high expectations. Too high, apparently. It's OK, and has some really good songs like Kashmir, but overall it just didn't live up to my expectations. I find I enjoy the blues-ey songs (Kashmir, Ten Years Gone) to the hard rock songs (Custard Pie, The Rover). If I was putting together this list, THIS is the Led Zeppelin album that I would say has to be on the list: https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kAC5Yod-akX6an6LvT_805xSSf2iis3U0 (for just a sample, start with song 6).
Not my favourite rock. Kashmir is a good tune with voice balanced against instruments so that screaming isn’t required. 4/5. Other tunes not memorable. 3/5 overall
I know it's heresy to say this, but I got bored with this album a little over halfway through.
I enjoyed this. Some really good songs and a couple that I've added to playlists in the past. Ten Years Gone is so good.
Not my type of music but I can dig it.
Fairly exemplary hard rock album. It's overall a solid release for the genre with apparent ambition put behind it, seeing as this is a double-album. However, that side of this is a complaint for me here, as it does start to meander more and dip in quality towards the end of the overall project. The biggest highlight here is easily Kashmir, thanks to its Bond-esque symphonic instrumentation. I'm not sure if I would revisit this, but I definitely understand the hype behind it.
Not the best Zep. Overlong, plodding, with lots of eight minute songs that don’t particularly sound different from each other.
I understand that this was pioneering and it is undeniably great music. The barrier for me was always Robert Plant’s voice - very difficult to get past.
I have never got into much of Led Zeppelin, it was never my cup of tea. This album felt very long but I did enjoy the instrumental parts throughout the album. Many people say they like the first half better but I prefer the second half. My favorite song is Down By The Seaside. My mom loves Led Zeppelin, she said it sounds better when you’re stoned.
This one is for getting the Led out occasions only. Should you listen to this in a garage with a beer in hand, you might ascend to nirvana. Otherwise, its just kind of a slog.
This is a fine album, I just didn't feel that every track landed, and it's quite long. "Kashmir" is rightly revered, but the rest doesn't do all that much for me.
6/10 I used to love led zeppelin. I still love Kashmir. 12-16-2024
Isn’t all graffiti inherently physical? It’s created on tangible surfaces, after all! Ironically, Physical Graffiti features none on its (admittedly iconic) album cover. The 1970s were the heyday of the double album—a creative canvas and a commercial flex. Advances in recording technology and the album-oriented rock ethos allowed artists to explore sprawling works, while vinyl's physical limitations necessitated multi-disc releases. Seemingly everyone tried it: The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, George Harrison, The Who, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Chicago, Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye, and Isaac Hayes all delivered double-album opuses, with varying degrees of success. Double albums tend toward self-indulgence, and Physical Graffiti is no exception. Packed with incredible highlights, it showcases each member of Led Zeppelin doing what they do best. Kashmir stands head and shoulders above—arguably the pinnacle of this album and the band’s entire discography. Tracks like Custard Pie, Trampled Under Foot, and Ten Years Gone see Zeppelin exploring fresh sonic territory without abandoning their essence. Meanwhile, Houses of the Holy, Sick Again and The Wanton Song showcase their rock 'n' roll swagger at its most potent. But here’s the rub: while the album shines when Zeppelin plays to their strengths or experiments, some tracks overstay their welcome (In My Time of Dying) or rely on repetitive riffs with little variation (The Rover, In the Light). These aren’t bad songs—still impressive in isolation—but they don’t stand out in the band’s wider discography. Many of these tracks were outtakes from earlier sessions, which might explain the uneven nature. While Physical Graffiti delivers brilliance in places, it’s not Zeppelin’s most consistent effort. Enjoyable, but not my favourite. Did/Do I own this release? No Does this release belong on the list? There are better Led Zeppelin albums, in my view. Would this release make my personal list? No Will I be listening to it again? Some tracks are truly epic.
Led Zeppelin continues to be an act I "get", but am unenthused by. It's a good record and I understand why they're looked upon with such reverence as a pillar of classic hard rock. The playing is good, the production is good, the composition is fine, and it's only too damn long by a small amount. In the context of greater musical culture and how I, personallt, interface with it, Led Zeppelin continues to be "Hard Rock Beatles" - a band I "get" but don't care for. This album won't be the album that convinces me to rave over Zepp as an all-time great. That album doesn't exist. But it is good.
Definitely some good material here, but does it really have to go on for so long? You can feel Zeppelin starting to sag under their own weight by the end of it. Best song: Houses of the Holy
I thought I loved Led Zeppelin but I guess I’ve never ACTUALLY closely listened to them? I don’t know what to do with this. Once again this list leaves me feeling confused about life.
More Zeppelin songs that I've never heard of. Pretty interesting how some of them are like 2-3 songs in one. I liked it better than Led Zeppelin III though!
I'm actually a bit surprised how limited this album is. At their core, I really like the sound of Led Zeppelin, but a lot of this album feels like the same classic Zeppelin shredding that we're used to hearing, and it's wild how quickly that can turn into more like background noise.
Well. Not my favourite. But I might be bias as I'm not a Led Zep fan. Technically a good album. I always enjoy Kashmir
mid - kashmir - mid
Its got its high points to be sure, come on it is Led Zeppelin, but quite frankly it’s not as good as their earlier albums and being a double album makes it feel like a little too much of not as good a thing. I’d rather quality over quantity.
I feel like once you've listened to one Led Zeppelin album - you've listened to them all Started off well but it was so long and repetitive that I got bored. I only knew Kashmir before listening so that probably didn't help with the rating I was surprised to see a song with a Welsh name - Bron-Yr-Aur! I never knew the history behind that track, so that was a nice find. Nice guitar song too Overall this album was ok. Wasn't their best of what I've heard so far 3 ⭐️
Well it definitely sounds like a Led Zeppelin album. Unfortunately it feels kind of like a slight, lightweight Zeppelin album -- fortunately that's a pretty nice curve to be grading on
A few songs I really liked and a couple I found less interesting
Many solid tunes
Not bad but you definitely have to be in a Led Zeppelin mood to have a good time
If I'm being honest, this is somewhere between 2 and 3 for me.
I’ve never been much of a Led Zeppelin fan but overall this album made decent background music as I worked.
A couple great songs mixed with... Well, mix.
If they had trimmed it down they would’ve had a 5⭐️ album.
Quite boring
I wish someone had introduced Led Zeppelin to the concept of editing. Not every song needs to be 8 minutes long, and 45 minutes is a perfectly acceptable length for an album. Sometimes less is more. This felt like a great album stretched to the length of two. Like butter spread over too much bread. Give me less bread, Robert!
Oooft a bit long and just not as good as I’d like it to be. Kashmir is a tune, but LZ have others that I prefer. Simpsons: Yes
Couple of decent songs and a lot of alright songs that went on for far too long.
I find all of the LONG songs a little much for me now lol
Maybe I’m just getting used to Led Zeppelin after they keep cropping up on this list but I thought this was the best of theirs yet. The most I’ve bopped my head along to them anyway! But by god it’s a long one 😮💨
The second half is much better than the first
With led zeppelin, the riffs are great but hearing them for 10 minutes long feels rapidly repetitive. The album is not bad but is exhausting after a while
There are brilliant moments on here but man, it's just too flipping long. Daunting.
Alright
Hmm, I mean it wasn’t bad but it just wasn’t very interesting
3/5 , didn't listen that intensely, maybe 4/5 if I did
Definitely not one of my favorites by them.
This was a slog. The first of the double album is pretty classic Zeppelin, not the band at its height - but pretty darn good. Once you get to the second album it feels like casts off. A lot of forgettable songs. I guess it probably marks the beginning of the end of the band.
Some good, some not very good....not their best.
1. disc is besser
I don't love Led Zeppelin's folk-y acoustic material as much as their heavy metal/hard rock stuff. Their albums are normally a mixture, so I find them somewhat inconsistent. I find that they venture slightly into 'overly long wank fest' at times and 'In My Time of Dying' is guilty of that. It sounds like they were just jamming in the studio, someone pushed record, and it ended up on the album. Some solid stuff on this album though. 'Ten Years Gone' is great and Robert Plant's vocals absolutely shine on 'Night Flight'. 'Kashmir' is a classic but not the best on the album. That belongs to 'The Rover'. It has a fantastic riff that drives the song forward with such a swagger and attitude. It's a 5 star 45 minute album if you trim the fat a bit. Don't want to give in to the Led Zeppelin tax and there are better Led Zep albums than this so it's getting a 3. A very high 3 mind you.
It was okay. Not their normal stuff. Seemed a little more experimental.
Alright
It’s good but it’s not great.
I like Led Zeppelin but this is one of the albums I've never connected with. Apart from Kashmir is standard fare.................
Very good in places. A few bangers and some good bluesy sounds. But also a bit too long, and not as good as peak Led Zeppelin.
I’ll keep no secrets here; I have never been a big Led Zeppelin fan. I like a chunk of their work, and appreciate the sheer talent involved. But overall, they have always been somewhat overrated in my book. I honestly couldn’t tell you sometimes what songs belong on what album. And on top of that, my view on double albums still stands even with ‘Physical Graffiti’; double albums can be a double edged sword. They’re either absolute masterpieces or they’re musically stretched too thin. For me, ‘Physical Grafitti’ completely falls into the latter. I do find some tracks to be fine work: ‘Houses Of The Holy’, ‘Kashmir’, ‘In The Light’, and ‘Down By The Seaside’ are actually phenomenal and really highlight the band at their strength. Plant’s vocals are arguably at their best, there is fantastic hard hitting riffs, and great guitar solos throughout. I just can’t help but feel had they not frankensteined a long record from previous rejects not only would this be a better listen, their later output could also have been marginally improved. It sounds as if I don’t like ‘Physical Graffiti’ all that much, I know. I actually do like it. It just runs into the same problems a lot of double albums do; it runs out of steam and the variety in musicality needed to keep a massive project like this interesting just isn’t there. So I give this a 3. It can be appreciated by pretty much everyone, and I know a lot of people hold it in HIGH regard, but most of it just doesn’t click with me overall; and I find a lot of their earlier work far superior.
This album comes on day one of a very intense week, and to be honest, I was disappointed by it. Maybe I just didn't need Page and Plant's wailing and squawking, but it felt like it was much more self-indulgent and unfocused that the earlier numbered albums, which have all been top drawer so far.
Cool cool
Meh
Love Led, and I ran this one around twice, but nothing on it really grabbed me or stuck. Just good listening.
A solid Zep album, even though it's a bit bloated.
Far from being Zeppelin's best album. Always thought this was a bit of a step down from everything else that came before. The first LP is fantastic, but I find a lot of the material on the second LP, especially Side D, not to be their best.
Tycker det är ganska mycket filler på det här albumet, inte så bra som alla påstår enligt mig åtminstone
I am not a particularly big fan of Led Zeppelin, and even though this has my favourite Zeppelin song, Kashmir, it is both uneven, too long and too often descend to pointless riffage and guttural screams
3.5
I know I should like Led Zeppelin but I just don't like most of it. I've tried so many times. Their music bores me. I don't know if they're doing stuff I don't understand, or if it's just a vibe that I don't vibe with, or what, but it doesn't work for me. Every song feels like they figured out a guitar riff and just do it over and over again for 4-10 minutes. When the riff is good (Kashmir) it's good, but when it isn't (most other songs) it's incredibly boring. Giving 3 stars tho bc some songs on here fuck. Obviously Kashmir, and Trampled Under Foot, and a couple others. But they aren't my rock gods.
This album ROCKS - I’m sure - but just found it a little boring and even annoying at times. Some great songs on here but not enough to carry the album.
Delete the obvious filler and it would be a solid 55-minute CD, if that technology had existed at the time. Docked one star for the band claiming writing credit for "In My Time of Dying."
Defo not one of their best. Album was left over bits from previous ones. 3/5
Another fine album.
This was a very strange album for me to rate. The first few songs were such generic hard rock (or just so incredibly dull in general) that I was sure I'd give the album a maximum of only 2 stars. The album only started to pick up with "Trampled Under Foot" and "Kashmir". By the time I got to the best part of the album (that being "Down by the Seaside" through "Boogie With Stu"), I definitely understood why people tend to consider this one of the best albums by Led Zeppelin. If it weren't for the dreadful beginning, which almost stopped me from doing this whole 1001 album challenge, I would've given Physical Graffiti at least 4 stars.
good, but the vocal style is not for me ):
Not familiar with most of these
Meh. Not a big fan of Zep. Decent album w/some cool experimental sounds. Can appreciate
siin on juba poisid hakanud natukene liiga palju peeru nuusutama - liiga pikk ja venib, varasemad albumid palju tugevamad
Everyone knows at least a few of these tracks. I'm not a huge fan. But this is better than their first record and had some cool stuff in there
This one was quite the journey. If you're going to make an album an hour and a half long, it better be damn well worth it. I can say this wasn't. That being said, I liked most of the songs. Led Zeppelin was producing hit after hit album during this time and I truly think I would have added this to that list had they shaved some of the songs out. Really great hard rock, but I can't justify the length.
This is a 2.5. There is not nearly enough interesting material here to justify a double album. Kashmir is cool, though!
Not the best album.
Ei parasta musiikkia pyöräilyyn. Paikoitellen turhankin poukkoilevaa, mutta kuunteli kyllä ilman kipuja. Kovia heppuja
Fine. Not particularly exciting. A little pompous and overblown, but nice enough.
Some of it is really great, but there's also quite a lot of filler. That goes for the album as a whole, but also within songs. Favorite song: Kashmir (by far)
Despite not being a fan of (most of) their self-titled quadrilogy, I still mess with Led Zeppelin's sound generally. But I think I'm more attracted to the idea of listening to LZ than I am to actually listening to them. In theory, their music should be everything I like - but a mixture of various mildly unappealing aspects (Plant's vocals, slower buzz-kill passages) end up bogging down my experiences. This album's no different - while I messed with the first side - especially the fantastic, relentless, and pummelling 'In My Time of Dying', the softer switch in the second half didn't do much for me. I mean I like the eerie synths opening 'In the Light', the quaint acoustic track 'Bron-Yr-Aur', and the punchy organ-tinted interludes of 'The Wanton Song' - but I'd be lying if I said I found any other song here to be all that special, not even the blues and rock n' roll throwback 'Boogie with Stu'. The highlight of the album is the highly dramatic and Middle Eastern-inspired 'Kashmir', a truly mesmerizing track. As expected, Jimmy's riffs are there and there's a lot of talent put on display, but this is another LZ album that just doesn't scratch the itch I was hoping it would.
nothing extraordinary imo but was easy listening background music for me!
Found this a little hard to care too much about at the beginning but it’s pretty good. I generally think the back half is a lot stronger and that’s where it won me over. I liked In The Light and Bron-Yr-Aur and Down by the Seaside back-to-back.
Have always been a Zeppelin skeptic, this is the album I remember the most from childhood and I was shocked at how much I enjoyed this... generally speaking i am not a huge blues rock guy and this verges on the edge of being blues rock but generally stays in the Hard Rock genre, which is totally much more my speed. Thought the rifts and vocals were solid and enjoyed a lot of what i heard, excited to listen to more zeppelin as we do this challenge!
Ikke lige så godt som deres første, men stadig en fed lyd.
Side one is good. Side two is excellent. Side three is pretty good. Side four I could mostly leave behind. Unmistakably Zeppeliny. Great individual musicians and better as a unit. Some hard rock, some blues, some flirtations with psychedelia, some traditional, some loud, some quiet, some come in hot, some slow burns. This has a handful of great songs and a handful that are decent but not impactful. Cut it to an hour and you got a stew goin.
good rock album
da sind schon ein paar Klassiker drauf vertreten
I think the hype behind Led Zeppelin has always exceeded my enjoyment of them. This album was bloated so it was a bit of a drag to get through it but there are a couple of classics here.
Some bangers, kinda boring, tooooo long, basic Led Zeppelin template.
It works as background music, and I like the style. However, some songs are too long, and the melody is repetitive. I felt no highs, lows, or storylines throughout the album. Overall, it didn't excite me, but it didn't bother me either. Some parts I enjoyed.
Long
Some good songs and a lot of filler
Love Zeppelin 1-4 I checked out for a reason after.
Great first half, mediocre second half.
Rock, 1975 -> 3
I still don't really get the hype around Led Zeppelin. This is a solid Hard Rock album with notable highlights, but it also gets boring, especially in the second half, and feels bloated overall. A major plus point is the diversity that the album offers, which counters the boredom that sets in after a few "filler" tracks. Still, I miss that certain something that defines Led Zeppelin. Something tangible that elevates them and this album above upper mid-range. 3.5/5
Me gustó. Igual me costó. No es un álbum que sea para escuchar en la oficina. Si para ponerlo en casa mientras limpio o en el auto mientras viajo. Full audio. In my time of dying - Orgásmo final Kashmir - TEMAZO. Un clásico.
I bit disappointed. Seems a bit bloated and not a whole lot of fun. A middle zeppelin album.
Fine, but 30 minutes too long. I liked Houses of the Holy. The riff in Kashmir sounded really familiar but I can’t place it.
3/5
Of course I already have listened to Physical Graffiti. Negative point is of course that this is a double album and takes quite long (over 80 minutes). Led Zeppelin is not and will never be my favorite classic rock act, but I can see that they're important for music history. I personally do believe thay have better albums though. Kashmir slaps.
OMG I just LOVE Greta Van Fleet! I saw them live once, Josh is SO CUTE, he was handing out white roses in the crowd <3 <3 What a long ass album though!
They did and overdid their thing on this one. Remember: all good things in moderation!
this one is just ight. kashmir thooo
It was nice, some songs had their charm, but it felt somehow repetetive
Took me a long time to appreciate Zeppelin. That’s all I’m going to say…
Les Zepps. Solid album I feel like I need to give it another go. Something about them always loses me
Solid, very classic rock
I don’t enjoy robert plants voice, especially when he gets to cat in heat yowling levels. Felt vocals and kind of lame lyrics get in the way at times. Some songs are a bit long and repetitive. But the highs are high Kashmir is great.
I wasn't super wowed tbh. Way too long. Eh
meh. lots of samey, dusty, dry bluesy rock by old white guys for other old white guys. only two songs stood out to me, and those were the two I had heard before: trampled under foot and kashmir. i definitely don't get the appeal of zeppelin, they're fine but boring overall. and a nearly 1.5-hour double album was certainly not going to influence my perception of them. this is like a 2.5 star album for me. favorites: trampled under foot, kashmir
Some AMAZING tracks but also some just very meh tracks
High quality, but just didn't get me going
Finding this one really hard to rate. While they’re clearly experimenting with new sounds which is interesting , it’s basically Led Zep, but not as good as their earlier albums. There’s not really one track that really stands out for me ( I don’t get why Kashmir is so popular) and some of them drag a bit. Guess I just prefer the balls-out rock of their earlier stuff more. All in all I don’t think I’d ever really repeat listen, which would seem to indicate a 3 score. However, their benchmark is so ridiculously high, if this was some other band would I look at things differently? Gah, what do you do?
Wasn't expecting too much, normally a bit too cock rock for my taste. However, this chuggs along nicely without ever going full cock, so enjoyed it.
Favourites: custard pie, houses of the holy, trampled under foot, bron-yr-aur, boogie with Stu. I guess it's okat. Run time was too long sorry Mr. Zeppelin but I did not have the patience for this today. Music wasn't bad but it's not really my taste. 3/5
Oh amazing another long ass album by an English rock band. I don't know why I just can't get into any of these "legendary" bands. Anyways it was okay as usual, I liked The Rover, Trampled Under Foot, Kashmir, and Ten Years Gone. No other real comments from me, 3
This sounds like an English rock band doing their best impersonation of an American rock band, with a little country blues and twang interspersed. This is a fun, rocking record throughout. Really enjoyed this one, but it’s not one I see myself listening to regularly.
Good album! A couple of great songs and some that are mid.
Truly awful
I was a big fan of Led Zep through their first four albums which I believe are on this list but not yet given to me. The album after the first 4 and preceding this one, Houses Of The Holy, was to me a big change in direction and did not like. As a result of that I did not take too much notice of this one and those after it which is a pity because as the years have gone by I have grown to appreciate them. Not as much as the first four but these later albums have revealed themselves to have some great songs on. Kashmir on this album has become (after Stairway and Whole Lotta) one of Led Zep’s most recognisable and distinctive songs. It’s a while since I played this album in full but glad I was reminded to by the inclusion of it in this list and serves as a prompt to listen to their full discography in the near future. 3/5 7/5/24
Zeppelin... eh
Except for Kashmir, I’ll just listen to Les Zeppelin IV if I get the urge to toss an a Led Zeppelin album. So I liked this, but probably won’t revisit.
A pretty solid rock'n'roll album by a legendary band that, in truth, I only partially followed. Certainly one classic song, "Kashmir", and a number of other good songs like "In the Time of my Dying" and "Houses of the Holy" but overall it felt long. The collective talent of the band members should be noted, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham.
Not my favorite Zeppelin album, but a solid listen nonetheless.
could i write poetry to this? y
Kashmir is the best song on the album, but overall disc 2 is stronger than disc 1
The previous album was a huge success, but for this one the band got carried away in the studio and produced too much material for a single album so they padded it out with unused songs from previous albums to make it a double. This means that there are a lot of self indulgent tracks on here that all go on a little bit too long or don’t fit, like the funky Stevie Wonder inspired Trampled Under Foot. Kashmir is still a monster track though!
All a bit pompous and silly but kind of fun at the same time.
Decent album. Like the more expansive and psychedelic aspects of this. 3.5/5 Will probably listen again
First things first, this album is too long. It's runs for almost 83 minutes, and feels even longer. Check out the length of these songs: "In My Time of Dying" - 11:09 "In The Light" - 8:48 "Kashmir" - 8:38 "Ten Years Gone" - 6:35 Fucking hell. "Kashmir" is a legitimate banger that just seems to bang on forever. The others could be fantastic 3- or 4-minute tracks if their fat was trimmed off, especially "Ten Years Gone". While "Physical Graffiti" tests your patience, it also treats us to the irrefutable guitar majesty of Jimmy Page. Particularity in "Bron-Yr-Aur", where his brilliance is placed front & center. This instrumental is simply beautiful. I enjoyed the second half of this album much more after hearing it. "Bron-Yr-Aur" lifted my mood. "The Wanton Song" rocks, "Down By the Seaside" & "Black Country Woman" are effortlessly cool, and "Boogie With Stu" comes way out of left field; it sounds like Little Richard possessed Rod Stewart. It's fucking great. Led Zeppelin are undoubtedly a legendary band. Each member is a special talent and the sound they create is quintessential 70s Rock. These guys are great at their craft. I respect Led Zeppelin, I just don't always enjoy their music. Even though I happily listened to this entire album, I have no desire to give "Physical Graffiti" another bash. I felt the exact same way about every other Zeppelin record I've heard. I can't really explain why. The best I can offer is this: Plant, Page, Jones & Bonham are legendary Rock & Roll killers, who also give us too much unnecessary filler. It's too much of a good thing. ✌️❤️
ikke helt mig men fint nok - kan godt se hvorfor fædre kan lide det, virker meget som en 3/5 :)
Not a bad album. It's the source of the song Kashmir. I'm not sure if it's my favorite Led Zeppelin album, but it's pretty decent.
Ehh this is another album that took me multiple days to get through. If you're going to put out a double album, every song better be damn worth it, and I just didn't feel that was the case here. I like Led Zeppelin, and I've owned IV since high school. Nothing on this album is objectionably bad. Okay, that's not true. Black Country Woman is allegedly about Plant having an affair with his wife's sister — big yikes. And Sick Again is about trying to seduce an underage groupie. Vomit. Also, there's the whole stealing from other artists thing that the band is famous for. Awful lyrical content and shitty behavior aside, the album just starts to run together after a while and really overstays its welcome with its 1:22 runtime. There are some really good songs on here. Obviously, the famous ones like Kashmir, Houses of the Holy, Custard Pie, Trampled Under Foot. I also liked the instrumental Bron-Yr-Aur. The whole first half makes for a good to greatish album. But around Down by the Seaside I started to get bored. There were still good songs after that, but it started to get repetitive. I'll give this one a 3/5
Far from their best album.
I like Led Zeppelin as a band (not as people, what with their blatant musical thievery and statutory rape, but if that were a deal breaker I’d have to discount 75% of this list) but I think this album has the same problem that so many other double albums do, it is bloated and over filled with just okay music instead of being cut down to just the strongest material. If they cut three sides worth of music, then instead of filling side four with stuff not good enough for their earlier albums, they should have saved a side’s worth of tracks for their next album. There are a lot of great songs on this album, but also some real duds.
Nur ein paar der Lieder sind gut.
Kashmir // In the Light //
All time classic record. A younger me would have been delighted with this - these days I find the Led Zep blues rock a bit pedestrian, but can’t deny it’s a classic and an excellent album. Kashmir is an obvious classic, but I was half asleep by the time I got to the end of side 1.
Over rated
J'aurais voulu l'aimer plus. Pas tant de classiques, mais belle variété d'instruments et de son. Le premier disque s'écoute bien, mais c'est inégal le second.
Classic
I was surprised this one was on here, despite the wide-ranging influence of “Kashmir” on subsequent rock music. I played Zep’s catalog out for myself in high school and never had much desire to revisit it over the past 20+ years. That said, I enjoyed this more than I expected. “The Rover”, for instance, is an absolute banger. Definitely didn’t need to be 2 discs, though. Several tracks could have been way shorter or left out entirely. There’s only so much Robert Plant I can take in one installment. Disc one is way better than disc 2.
I was raised on 80s synth pop and 90s grunge which I think maybe makes it hard for me to really take this vocal style seriously. I can't help but think of Jack Black when I hear this style of singing. I really love the guitar tone though. Especially on In My Time of Dying. It has some really cool guitar effects and noises. Kashmir is a sick song.
I enjoyed this, but its not my favorite LZ album. I like that they kind of played more with their sound on this one. They really lean heavy into blues and then really lean heavy into prog. It's like they leveled up on everything that people recognize them for. Down by the Seaside is my personal fav. I like when Led gets sentimental.
One of the best rock bands of all time. Some of their music is legendary. Set the bar for rock bands that followed.
Decent on occasion
A solid classic rock addition. It may not have the same level of iconic tracks from some of Led Zeppelin's other albums but I enjoyed 'Houses of the Holy', 'Kashmir', 'In the Light', and 'Night Flight'. I honestly get tired of the same hard rock style even though these guys pioneered it in their own right. Also, Robert Plant's vocals personally get exhausting after a while.
Not my fav led zeppelin album, think the first disc was weaker than the second.
B Custard Pie 3 The Rover 3 In My Time Of Dying 3 Houses Of The Holy 3 Trampled Under Foot 4 Kashmir 5 In The Light 3 Bron-Yr-Aur 3 Down By The Seaside 3 Ten Years Gone 5 Night Flight 3 The Wanton Song 3 Boogie With Stu 3 Black Country Woman 3 Sick Again 3 I've listened to this album too much. I'm just kind of tired of Led Zeppelin at this point. Houses of the Holy (album) is better than this, but it doesn't have Kashmir so it doesn't earn a place here I guess.
Interesting notes. Very clearly Led Zepellin. Most likely won't listen again, but if it comes up, I could see myself enjoying it.
Led Zepplin. There are songs I love and some I can do without. This album offers one of my all-time favorites - Kasmir. Dig in.
Listened to this while playing ISS Vanguard. I won my mission. I just had another Led Zeppelin album two days ago! I greatly preferred the other one, III, over this one. While there were good moments throughout...there kinda felt like a lot of bloat between the gems. I definitely wouldn't come back to this one again...but I wouldn't be mad hearing several of these songs again. Also...this made me want to do coke at one point...and I don't do that ever. Ha ha. It was weird.
Not so much of this singing style but a few of these solid rock songs develop a Pop attitude which besides its raw bluesy power relaxes a very ambitious and slightly bloated over 80 min rec.
Just not my cuppa
mid tbh, and i normally like led zeppelin
Prima old skool rock album.
it’s actually pretty nice, but the second half is very lackluster
This is not the Led Zeppelin I heard in Led Zeppelin 2. I don’t know who these people are. Not nearly as good. Kashmir was a hit though. I’ll give them that. The rest was very mid. 6/10
Yeah to be honest I think this is one of the weaker Zeppelin albums. It comes off as a more generic rock mish mash that blends together and tbh the album goes too long as well at almost 1.5 hours. Some great tracks for sure but I'd never listen to this front to back again. 6/10
Blusier than what they're usually known for
It aight. Suitable PUBG music - 6/10
Not amazing, not terrible. Definitely long. I liked it in the beginning but it got kinda old by the end, even though there was some variety. 6/10
I didn't really enjoy any of the songs but they werent that bad 5/10
I was slammed at work so I couldn’t listen deep. It was alright.
Kinda expected to like this album more given the legendary status led zeppelin holds in rock. It's good, but there weren't alot of tracks that stood out to me. Favorite track was trampled under foot.
Okayy now Led must be more fun than Bob Dylan. First song and it's deep purple coded. I must say I love rock and metal generally, though it's not my favourite genre. And Led always delivers it well, it's repetitive and I'm not bored. Second song and quite a nice start. Guitar solo in my right ear with the drums in the middle. I like full songs and this is one of them. The instruments overplaying on eachother is veery fun, and his voice isn't annoying at all. Again omfg third song is 11 minutes, pink Floyd who. Loved this, it was energetic, kept me entertained, couldn't have wished for more can't wait for the next song. 4th song is a lot shorter, 4 minutes and so far it's good. I mean I will probably like every song of this album, because I have no problem listening to it, howeverr, I doubt I'd listen to it again much. 5th song exactly same, I wanna listen to this, but no idea if I would do it again. Going well, it's just so good I can't say anything else. 6th song and I've heard their instruments somewhere, I'll check it later. Also 8 minutes and not a sign of boredom. 7th song again fun, I'm just listening to it in background and dunno anything about lyrics, it's just very amusing 8th song is only 2 minutes and it's apparently an interlude, well not a standout definitely. 9th song has a one good part he repeats a lot, but not enough, I didn't like the guitar but it was not horrible. Medium song this was. 10th song is not so different either, I like it tho. The guitar chords are fun to listen to. That's mostly it. It was a long journey it a monotonous one as expected. 11th song, includes type of voice I like, plus the guitar in both of my ears but different sounds they make, is superior. 12th song, I'm kinda tired about me having to say things about each of them, because they have the same good fucking vibe, I just like them, there's nothing else to be said. I liked the endings guitar slamming. 13th also has the good ending and start, the between was quite as the other songs, easy listening for me tbh, also this was metal at the start but now it's kinda nott. 14th song starts slow and is slow apparently. It has a beat afterwards, guitar in my right ear and left one too, just a little different. 15th song was also good though I was half asleep. This is the only song I don't remember much, and the only one I haven't rated while listening to the album. Basically, it was really nice the deep purple vibes got me. Wouldn't really listen to this so I'd say 3 stars, but if I rated it as how good it was it would have been 4 probably.
Great music. Solid listen!
Not my type.
I'm all for maximalism but the Beatles and Dylan barely had enough grade-A shit for double albums. Zep...did not.
I want to like Led Zeppelin so bad, it just doesn't hold up when they go prog. Recording quality isn't clear enough to support that sound. As soon as they hit a straight ahead rock beat the boomy drums instantly get you bobbing your head, but those moments are few and far between the later in their discography you listen. I wish I could give 3.5 stars because I respect the hell out of them for this record, it just doesn't hold up in the modern era.
these culture vulture pedophiles go hard sometimes
Kashmir and Houses of the Holy are great songs, but the album in general just doesn't hit like Zeppelin I, II, or IV.
Pretty good. I haven't listened to much classic rock, but the guitars and drums sound great on this album, and the vocals have so much personality to them. I do feel like some of the songs are too long. Does "In the Light" need to end with "light" being said 25 times? I don't think so. Similarly, "Kashmir," great song, too long. "The Wanton Song" is pleasant throughout.
No fan - canciones demasiado largas sin letra - 6
Good but too long. Should have been a single disc album.
Great individual tracks, lacks cohesion, overlong
Led Zeppelin is a big blond spot for me, I only know the hits. I'm not sure this was the right album to start their discography with, I wasn't overly impressed with it.
Actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I find Led Zeppelin a bit of a struggle to get through and at 1hr 23 mins I wasn't looking forward to it, BUT it was actually pretty good. Good hooks from Jimmy Paige throughout, Robert Plant is a bit overly waily and too faux American in places but overall, not the slog I thought it would be.
It was alright stand outs were Bron-Yr-Aur and Boogie With Stu. Not my type of music, sure had some good riffs and stuff though, personally a 6.5 out of 10
There were a few decent songs on the first side -- notably Kashmir. The B side sounded like a Zepplin homage band playing in a bar. Which may have been the sound they were going for!
Zeppelin has such an iconic sound if you heard one Zep song you’ve heard them all. Didn’t hook me til halfway through the 3rd track. Usually albums front load with their best songs and singles. This one buries them in the middle. Zeppelin is pure stoner music. All I wanted the whole time was to be high off my ass, making out in the basement from That 70’s Show. Tracks added to my Spotify… 4
Never been the biggest fan of led zeppelin. Kashmir is always a cool song. Did love how puff daddy sampled it. Boogie with stu is a damn cool song first time I heard it.
Some pretty good stuff, but also way too long and padded with fluff.
not as blown away by this as I was hoping. It was ok but nothing special.
its not too bad, so long and a bit dull but the music is okay
One of my biases is that I’m just not a big fan of heavy rock or metal. That being said I can get behind Robert Plant’s unique voice, and Led Zeppelin is a band I can like in short burst. While “Kashmir” is undeniably a great song the rest of the album is only so-so. I saw another reviewer say that this is an 8 song record forced to be 15 and I wholeheartedly agree. It’s diminishing returns past the halfway point. 3/5
Still not vibing with zeppelin at all. Of all the classic rock bands its maybe the biggest difference between popular opinion and my own i think.
First half was good. Lost steam in back half. Definitely more mature sound than first album
Can't believe I'm saying this about a Zep album but that was almost...tame? A lot more major keys and \"lightness\" vs their earlier, darker, heavier sound. Favorite track: Kashmir
Two and a half stars but I’ll be generous with the 3!
Really starts to sound the same after a while
yep, that's a led zeppelin album
It was pretty good! I don’t love Led Zeppelin’s style of rock in general, but I didn’t hate this. I really enjoyed “Kashmir” especially. I think an hour and 22 minutes felt too long though, especially since most of the songs were so similar.
nid so miis, irgendwenn töned alli lieder gliich :/ isch glaub sones 2.5/5
That one was interesting
Starts strong but really drags on after a while.
Not their best work but great album by this classic band. Kashmir alone makes it worth it.
Radio hits are tolerable. My favorite parts were the songs that didn't sound like Zeppelin and the silence between tracks. 3.0
More enjoyable than I expected. Didn't like the singing.
No.
Liked it, idk. At a certain point some 70s rock sounds similar to me. I'll def listen again but not the most invested.
Yes, there are some absolute classics. But, it meanders for too long with uninteresting filler tracks.
They are a great rock band. It's just not the type of rock that I am into.
Classic Zepp
Not Zep at their best, still some good songs. Like a 3.5.
quite over indulgent and long, probably prefer their first 4 albums
Kind of heavy but good sounds
Previously known and enjoyed
Better than some of the other ones!
I think I just burnt out on Zepp back in high school. Can't deny their significance or talent, but I just can't seriously listen to it any more.
cool music
I understand the historical significance of Led Zeppelin, but right now I’m just bored
Ah parece ser legal mas NN é muito meu estilo
Very classic rock. Has some really cool tracks (which are widely known), but not everything is to my liking.
Was already familiar with album. Pretty good, some songs sound too much alike. Forgot how much I like Down by the Seaside
