gówno!

STOP. PUTTING. WOMEN. MOANING. IN. YOUR. MUSIC. FOR. NO. PARTICULAR. REASON.

Stottersound! Weg damit!

Ohhh.. This is soooo bad.

Well, if they'd just stuck with the hits & got rid of the dross, this might have been the making of an ok album. As it is, far too long, too much filler, not for me I'm afraid.

Intro is like a game show? Hmm... Mostly spoken Whole song about dandruff? I don't think this is for my demographic Ghetto Thang is interesting Eye Know isn't too bad Random cleanliness theme that I don't quite understand Potholes In My Lawn was kinda fun Rating: 1 star (definitely will not listen again)

After reading other people's reviews maybe I'm just having a really bad day or something because I couldn't find the fun or the banter in this and it just felt grating.

Rædsom start. Bliver ved med at være rædsomt. Lytter ikke færdigt

Not for me this. The three famous ones are all decent but the rest is a load of rubbish.

This was just corny as hell. Painful.

Not my bag. Sorry

I tried. I thought it was different. But after a while I had to stop it. It's a no for me.

Maybe the most missed potential in this entire list. The beats are fun but (mostly) incredibly difficult to latch onto as a listener. What can you really sing along to, other than a scant few tracks near the beginning of the album? Where's the concept, the album flow, the lyricism? Does the percussion sound messy and off-beat on purpose? The Magic Number and Change In Speak, two early tracks with a bit more melody and soul than usual, are fairly memorable/singable. But what of the rest of the album? What of Intro, Cool Breeze On The Rocks, Can U Keep a Secret, Jenifa Taught Me, Ghetto Thang, Transmitting Live from Mars, Take It Off, A Little Bit of Soap, Do as De La Does, Plug Tunin', Buddy, Description, This is a Recording 4 Living in a Fulltime ERA, I Can Do Anything, and D.A.I.S.Y. Age? This honestly may be the most filler-heavy album I've ever heard, and that's saying something. (The genre of industrial rock gives this kind of music a run for its money. But even in that case you can kind of understand that most tracks aren't meant to be filler. In this case? 90% fluff. Insane.) The fact that 3 Feet High and Rising made it into the "significant" list of the National Recording Registry, alongside Dookie, Minecraft: Volume Alpha, Synchronicity, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Stairway to Heaven brings a metaphorical tear to my eye. Eye Know, which is otherwise a standard/decent hip-hop track, is lifted orders of magnitude by the sample of Steely Dan's Peg (in my opinion, a near-perfect song). But then you realise that De La Soul's version is outshined, and you feel this inexplicable urge to abandon 3 Feet High and Rising in favour of the infinitely superior Aja. Yet you persist onward, forever reaching for musical quality, hooks, melody, or instrumental prowess that this group's supposed to have. Then you get over a minute of sexual moans ("De La Orgee") and you finally feel comfortable giving this the 1-star rating it was begging for since track 1. The saddest part is, these guys are obviously having a blast. As another reviewer wrote: "They are clearly having so much fun making this album. The friendly comedy sketches. The playful dissing (“everybody in the world, you got dandruff”, “you got doo doo in your pocket”)." Take it from me and the countless 5-star reviewers here: the musicians are pretty effortlessly cool. But the musical quality, on average, is just not there. 1/5 Key tracks: The Magic Number, Change In Speak, Eye Know

not my fav TBH

boring

Just not for me. Very much of its age.

Not my taste

So bad. I thought it was a joke.

Fucking painful.

Not for me

Yeah, didn't swing me. Perhaps I'm missing the contribution of this album to the rap/hip-hop genre but don't think I "needed" to hear this album before I die.

American hip hop shit

Not for me. 1/5

Early on I was thinking "eh it's fine" so maybe a 2, but then it ... just ... kept ... going.

Not a fan of rap

I really struggled with this one. I was ready to skip just about every song in this album. To me, there's nothing here that stands out. All the songs kinda blended together. I was happy the album was over and I struggle to find one song that I enjoyed. 1/5

Hip Hop "singing". Check "Vinyl" sound-effects. Check "Radio Show". Check Can this get any worse ? I'm sure there will be a worse abum in the near future but I utterly hate this one.

This album is ketchup. People love ketchup. I want to love ketchup. I don't.

The quest to find hiphop I like continues. This one started promisingly enough but again the use of peculiar sound effects just didn’t work for me.

*mostly rap, no music that I heard.

I don't know how to describe this album or this era of hip hop other than... Ghetto nursery rhymes? I don't know. It's the same style on each song. There is this theme of a game show that is payed through out thwt is supposed to be funny and silly.... And it misses the funny mark. It's annoying. This group sounds like elementary school kids trying to rap. Bored. I thought I liked this era of hip over modern day hip hop but I think because I'm not a huge fan of modern day hip hop, I convinced myself that I like old school hip hop. I was wrong. At least not this ghetto nursery rhym hip hop.

This is another in the DNF club, I don't know what is going on here, but they released a hip-hop album during the time hip-hop was the most musical and sucked all of the skill and talent out of it. If I could rate this less than one star, I would.

Slow, live intro. Conveing story through talking. Goofy first song. Old school hip hop. Skipped first song. Cannot hear through second one. Seems to be the grandfather of modern hip hop. It's like listening to age old classical music. Listened to Lamar instead. Liked that a lot more. Felt like Jazz at times. Maybe I should read the lyrics along for More enjoyment. Let's see

Funny how something that once sounded groundbreaking now sounds almost amateurish.

Hip hop is definitely not for me. I couldn't finish it.

It took me five days to finish listening this horrible album. Can we really call this music? The best music of the album is the last one, because after it there's no more suffering.

Don't like hip hop that much.

No thanks - not for me

What were they cooking

Yeah this is not my jam. Too much rap, too little good songs. Some were a bit nice, but most I skipped.

As my album history shows do not like Hip Hop or Rap music at all so I was not expecting much here. But at least this was in the main a fun album not full of gangster slang, shootin’ guns, knives and slapping bitches. Also not much in the way of profound language as far as my ears could tell. There is a skit which nods towards an orgy with accompanying sounds but I suppose it could be someone suffering from toothache or stomach cramps and i think it is meant to be taken in fun rather than intended misogyny. There are one or two tracks I could even listen to again but my memory tells me that they were hits when the album was released. Has not changed my views on this type of music but at least it made me smile (slightly!) 1.9/5 9/4/24

I could see how this album was influential, but it just sounds messy and loud to me. Parts I did like, but then they became like a joke that went on too long.

I’m just never gonna like hip hop but I’m sure this is a great example of it.

When I met my soon-to-be ex-wife in Australia, she had this album amongst her CD collection. In hindsight, that should have been a massive red flag. Only a fucking sociopath could possibly enjoy this utter garbage, let alone buy the CD. What the fuck are those dumbass skits? Who is entertained by this? I could die from cringe listening to these goofballs. They're the antynom of comedy. Sadly, the skits are not even the worst thing on the album These guys are fucking nerds. If their skits didn't convince you of this, their birdbrained lyrics will. They constantly use children's rhymes in their raps and force in embarrassing "De La" themed play on words. Fucking lame. Once they hit me with "De La Orgee" it confirmed that I was listening to painfully juvenile nonsense. I literally laughed from embarrassment when he said, "If ya like to drink some soda, Let me hear ya say "Coca-Cola"." What the fuck, man? Cunts. They almost had something decent going with "Eye Candy". But then they followed it up with "Take It Off" and I was immediately reminded that "Eye Candy" was a one-off fluke by a group of geeks. De La Soul somehow make everything that's great about hip-hop seem unedgy, uninteresting, and uncool. 👎👎

Thought I was listening to music designed for children.

Didn't finish

just...no. too many skits, all over the place. appreciate the Peg samples in one of the hits, but this is not for me

(4,2/6) Hip hop Not my cup of tea! Maybe not that bad 3/8/9/18

Very lively, but not my thing.

noiaaa

Didn’t like

Yeah, so... this is not really my type of music and I didn't really enjoy it, but I am sure there are people out there who listen to that kind of music, so as long as they enjoy it - party time woo

It's not my thing

Not awesome hip hop.

Not my jam.

Not a hip-hop fan. I can see the appeal in this album but it's just not for me.

nicht für mich :(

nicht mein Stil

*couldn’t listen to this one*

Some decent beats in here, but some embarrassing rapping. I understand why some people hate on this generation of rap now. Utterly astounded this came out the year after Straight Outta Compton.

I can see why this album is on this list. It was very imaginative, humorous and makes up a core part of the classic 90s American hip-hop sound. I do not want to take away from what is clearly an excellent and interesting piece of art. However, I did not personally enjoy this, which did surprise me as I generally regard myself as a fan of the genre and time period. Therefore, it is being rated low according to my personal taste and enjoyment only. Favourite: Buddy Least Favourite: D.A.I.S.Y Age

I just don't get Hip-Hop. The only track that I recognised was the annoying "The Magic Number".

Not a fan of the sex sounds. Appreciate the randomness but it wasn’t unique enough to me

wtf are these guys saying

Hip Hop. 1/5

I think the folks that wrote this might have been smoking and drinking something. This was just painful to listen to could not wait for it to be over. 1/5

In terms of hip hop/rap, this wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. I don't get why rap and hip hop albums feel it's necessary to have a "sounds of sex" song all the time. I struggled to finish this. 1/5

Was zum Henker... Nach der Hälfte abgebrochen, mit einer Ausnahme nur nervig und überhaupt nicht mein Fall.

That's gonna be a no from me dog

this brand of hiphop is not to my liking

Legendary rap trio, De La Soul, utilizes some great samples, innovative sound and a handful of guests on this albu…. Ok, who am I kidding? 3 Feet High and Rising is basically the birthplace of the 90’s hip hop skit craze. And that’s just unforgivable.

Miten kaiken variaation saa kuulostamaan saman toistamiselta? Onko vika minussa. Todennäköisesti?

Confirmed: I still cannot bear to listen to this type of music.

Not a rap fan, this song did have some more interestinusic in the background

No m'agrada el hip hop

No he podido escuchar el album porque en Spotify no estaba disponible

Kann ich nicht hören.

not foir me

Not on Apple Music. Can't listen.

Mocht m niet luisteren op spotify
