See now this, this takes the madness of Scuicide or throbbing Gristle and makes MUSIC. This was so much fun and though slightly off-putting in parts, felt worth it!

Who the hell opens an album with a 10 minute guitar solo with little to no backing band? George Clinton, the genius madman, that’s who! When that solo is Eddie Hazel’s legendary “Maggot Brain”, without a doubt one of the greatest solos ever recorded, I’ve got nothing to complain about either. The rest of the album is a weird mixture of dark, gritty funk and Clinton’s LSD-trips come to live. There’s a lot to love but it doesn’t hit a home run.

I knew of this record. In vinyl circles, it's considered a classic. But I'd never heard it. This is great. It's nasty and funky exactly how I need it to be. It's so weird. And I love it.

This is my second Funkadelic album on this generator. I found this one heavier than the other one in that it was skewed more towards psychadelic rock than it was towards funk and soul like the first album of theirs that I reviewed was. This album, obviously, featured the 10 minute epic song Maggot Brain, which was a bonus song on the first of their albums I listened to. It is a phenomenal song that features the amazing skill set of Eddie Hazel. George Clinton was apparently obsessed with shit. Taking shits, talking about shitting... It was all fair game with him. I noticed it in the first album by Funkadelic that I got (One Nation Under a Groove). There is a song on that album called Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad (Doo Doo Chasers) that deals heavily with shit. Frequently throughout this album he refers to drowning in shit, and taking shits. Within the first 30 seconds of the first song on the album he talked about shit. Also, the last minute of the song Wars of Armageddon features farting/shitting noises laid over a funky beat for some reason. A passion of his apparently. Overall, another great album! This band was super talented, and I can see how they have influenced the face of music as we see it today. The most BONKERS opening ten seconds for any album. Maggots and drowining in your own shit probaboy was the expected norm as album openers go back in 1971. THis is going to sound terribly, terribly wrong: Maggot Brain reminds me of a black Pink Floyd. For that reason alone I love it.

This is so 70s, but mostly in a good way. Also, love Eddie Hazel's guitar

Funking fantastic. I had no idea. The first track melted me. The second is that song I know, but never heard it before. The rest are passable on their own, but as a whole this album's got a juicy vibe. Thanks for the introduction!

Firstly I'm confused as I was so certain we had already had this one but whatever! Or another Funkadelic album. Anyway, I loved this. Loved the way the album built up and has some absolute bangerz on there I already love. Great lyrics too with wise messages

And just like that, Funkadelic gained a new fan. 4.5/5

It's freaky and weird. I like freaky and weird! Parts could fit right in on a Deep Purple album which I wasn't expecting.

That title track is a masterpiece. Funk, rock, and soul blending together in a beautiful package that doesn't at all feel like 10 minutes. The rest of the album did not match up which is the only reason this isn't getting five stars, but it's hard to beat that first song. Eddie Hazel probably levitated and heard the applause of God when he recorded that.

So the title track is really one of the best pieces of psychedelic music out there, and the funk aspects are also amazing, I just wish there was more maggot brain

Vreemd album. De openingstrack is huismerk Pink Floyd. En dat bedoel ik niet negatief deze keer. Gewoon een prima track. Track 2 is funky gedoe waar ik niet heel veel mee kan. Het komt te onverwacht na die Pink Floyd opening. Op track 3 komt na een tijdje heel even een huismerk Jimi Hendrix om de hoek kijken. Ook dit huismerk doet het qua prijs/kwaliteitsverhouding meer dan prima. Rest van de track is erg meh. Track 4 is ook funky, maar omdat het minder onverwacht is kan ik er beter mee omgaan. Vervolgens hoor je op track 5 een huismerk Lenny Kravitz, die opzij wordt geschoven door eerder genoemde huismerk Jimi die nu een wat grotere rol opeist. Heel goed van 'm. Op track 6 hebben ze collectief drugs gebruikt denk ik. Dit had achterwege gelaten moeten worden. Dan volgt alweer het laatste nummer. Er is nog tijd over, dus ze mogen 10 minuten doorgaan. Dat hoef je de man op de cowbell maar één keer te vertellen. De drugs werkt nog een beetje na. Huismerk Jimi doet een aardige duit in het zakje. Orgeltje, fan van ook. More_cowbell.wav. De drugs blijkt niet slechts na te werken, ze hebben stiekem bijgepakt. Net wanneer je bedenkt dat deze track alleen nog scheetgeluiden mist... Dus nogmaals: Vreemd album. Maar daardoor eigenlijk wel een topervaring. Ik ga dit niet nog 10x luisteren in m'n leven, maar ik geef het wel 4 sterren.

Getting old sucks! Yes there are the hairs that start to pop up on your ears but far worse is the requirement to have a colonoscopy. Yesterday was the day! 1001 decided I should spend that special day with Funkadelic. That was fun. The album that is - not the dreaded camera angle. The guitar work was quite good and the overall sound was good to have in the background while I was focussing on other things. I will definitely listen to this album more often than I revisit the cameraman. Even before I click the vote button, I can hear you saying "Thanks for sharing".

Eddie Hazel's lead guitar really makes this album. The title track is epic, as is the story behind it, and his solos take center stage in a number of the other tracks. I prefer the loose arrangements, improvisations and hard rock feel to the material they released later in the decade. Between a 4 and 5 for me.

A delightfully weird experience

Bar none, some of the best guitar playing I've ever heard on a record. Just... shredding, incredible. Album loses a little steam near the end, but it's all fun, funky, and delightfully weird. Favorite tracks: "Maggot Brain", "Super Stupid"

Funky for sure

Good. This would be a 5 if the last song wasn't so weird (and not that good).

This album really encapsulates the essence of 1971, or at least how I imagine it. It's kind of a strange album, with two extended instrumental pieces bookcase five very different songs. It also has a fairly epic ending with a coo-coo clock, fart noises, and a nuclear explosion. It's all nicely funky, though, and that's what holds it together.

This wasn't exactly what I was expecting when I saw Funkadelic come up. The opening track had me with head tilted and brows furrowed trying to figure out what this album was. It was a nice ride though.

Last thing I expected was an 8 minute stoner guitar solo to open this up. Super Stupid kills it. Def an inspiration for Lenny Kravitz meets Led Zeppelin heavy riffs. Wars of Armageddon is trippy asf. Weird train bells, alarms, crazy sound effects. Could be something off the Beatles more experimental takes.

Very funky very cool

This was great, not sure I've ever heard an album like this before. That opening track was almost prog rock and didn't know what to expect afterwards but i enjoyed it. Good mix of funk and rock.

Love this album cover. The guitar solo in the song Maggot Brain is stupendous. Smooth and directly from outer space. It wails past Neptune and into my car stereo. Super Stupid is a funky number, much like I expect all Funkadelic songs to be. I was surprised by the diversity. A great album.

Spotify is missing the last 3 tracks, but that was FUN. Major 70s guitar vibes and funky beats.

Track one, eleven minutes of shredding. Track seven ten minutes of funk. In between five short and sharp tracks. Superbly listenable.

Not your typical funk album

This album has a great vibe to it. I don't know that I had ever listened to it all the way through until this sitting. 'Can You Get To That' is an all-time great song. This album feels very cohesive and I found lots to like on it. The longer opening and closing tracks serve as good psychedelic bookends. I'll definitely continue listening to this one. Standout Tracks: Maggot Brain, Can You Get To That, Hit It and Quit It, Super Stupid, Back In Our Minds.

Love how George Clinton decided to start the album out by having Eddie Hazel pull out the greatest solo of all time. More artists should follow suit. A-

When I was like 16 or 17 years old, the title track to this album blew my mind. I was just getting serious about guitar, and I was obsessed with Edward Hazel's solo on it. I think this and All Along the Watchtower (Jimi Hendrix) made me go out and buy a wah pedal. I was just as pleased with Hazel's playing on the rest of the album. I think there's some weaker spots on the album that didn't quite "hook me," but my god, revisiting that opener was something. Love the first half of this album.

The title track is worth 4 stars alone, i like the experimentation but it kinda fell off at the end

This is definitely a five-star cover! 1971, this has been a dangerous period, some really weird shit has been coming out. This was no doubt weird, especially the first and last tracks, which are apparently the highlights for the critics. I, of course, have little patience for music that is best experienced with an altered state of mind. But- In between: pounding, funky, hard, loud, rock songs very different from anything I’ve heard before. I want more. Yeah

I love this album and hate this album. George Clinton and Funkadelic are a great collection of musicians. "Maggot Brain" is a ten minute self-indulgent guitar solo. Eddie Hazel is out of control. I love the emotion he presents but I hate it because its not my guitar solo. Haters are just jealous. This is psychedelic album with a funk vibe. Difficult to endure in concert format but a pleasure to listen to in a chill, listening room setting. Very dark and angry so not for everyone but I love the emotion and relevance to today even though it was recorded over 50 years ago.

Well that was funky AF! It doesn’t hold the force of the first track but it’s great overall, even if it gets weirdly sounding by the end.

This oldschool funk still breathes a lot of Gospel and Soul heritage. Some sounds are playful and experimental. Not the worst companions for gray and lazy Sunday afternoon.

Some greasy cool era defining punk, groovy very nice. At times however, the album sort of disappears up its own arse and takes you somewhere angular and uncomfortable. Perhaps I'm not up to the challenge but it felt like an occasional lack of focus. I've enjoyed this album for a while though despite its scent of incoherence

This album was awesome but I was expecting something else from the title and band name so the first song dissapointed me but now I love it after relistening. Its a great album but frustratingly plays with expectations and the final song was a bit naff. A great record

Call today Funky Friday! Maggot Brain is not the name I would have gone with but the album was funkadelic regardless. Some long songs peppered with some shorter ones made this a quick listen but was great for getting my morning started. I feel like I've heard this band before, but none of these rang any bells. Great album to end the week on!

I'm not a fan of funk so I was dreading this after seeing the title but it wasn't actually all that bad. Some funk is hiding in there under quite a bit of soul, rock, and R&B. A few songs were great, and some gave me a Santana vibe.

77/100: I really wanted to like this album. I really did. I went in fearful it was just gonna be “Maggot Brain” (the song) and a bunch of a filler, but hopeful there were hidden gems in this album. I’m afraid my fears were realized with this one; however, the song “Maggot Brain” is such an unbelievably, indescribably amazing song that this is still a good album in my mind just because it has that one song on it. I could ramble on about Maggot Brain for hours, I could try to describe how the guitar makes me feel with my eyes closed, how I always thought it was bullshit when people said they felt like they were floating during an enjoyable experience until I listened to this song. I could try to describe the chilly feeling of the hair on my arm slowly rising up as my mind melts into the song, but I think that takes away from the ineffable beauty of this song. Just listen to it.

Pretty good. Probably very influential and revolutionary for its time.

What a ride! The title track is such a gripping and moving work of art. The funk surely spreads quickly after this song ends and begins discordant chaos. It's fun and groovy, but I feel it doesn't always land perfectly. I'd say there are some weaker spots in the second half, but Super Stupid was definitely a highlight on the side B.

This was awesome. So much personality in this album, and the range is great. More than a few songs you could jam out to, absolutely worth a re-listen. Closer to a 4.5.

Fun fact: I've seen George Clinton shows more times than I've actually listened to anything he recorded. Another one of those things I just never got around to but also something that was harder to do in the times before streaming. You'd read a lot about Funkadelic and Parliament but actually getting to hear it was another thing. Missed opportunity as this is really good.

Classic

Discovered this album a few years ago based on an internet stranger's recommendation. It's admittedly the only Funkadelic album I've ever heard, so I have little context. The Hendrix-style solos, hypnotic beats, drug-fueled lyrics, and rythmic mantra-like verses all together give you this fun musical trip. Highly recommend listening to this with headphones or in front of a 2.0 setup (the left-right panning adds a another layer to the listening experience).

Didnt expect this album to be this fun after the opening track A little bit all over the place in the middle and wars of armaggedon is a little bit too playful and experimental for my taste if we are talking serious analysis It is, as already said, so funky and fun you can accept it and just vibe with it. Not a lot of cohesion and order. What a guitar in the title track, legendary stuff.

Maggot Brain was left on repeat for days at a time in my dorm room, but hadn't heard the other tracks in a while. Some of it crosses the line for me in terms of good taste, but hard to argue with it overall.

A striking, terrifying cover/album name combo. George Clinton trades in some hard hitting funk for some wild cool licks. This album is weird and wooly, and I'm hear for it (get it?)

This is pretty impressive. One of the best new albums (for me) that I got on this project, for sure. A little bit strange in the last songs, but still impressive!

This is the third album by funk rock band Funkadelic. As the band name suggests, this album is mostly psychedelic funk music, but it also has some R&B and rock elements sprinkled in. The most popular track is the first one - title song "Maggot Brain" - which is a 10 minute long trippy and eerie journey into the stratosphere of your imagination. You may feel all types of emotions while listening to the psychedelic first song, but the next 5 songs will have you bumping to the funky tunes. The album then culminates with a wild 9 and a half minute track of the whole band jamming out with a lot of psychedelic sound effects added in. The album keeps you interested for the entire ride, which to me indicates a great album. It's a monument of psychedelic funk and a defining moment of Black rock from the 70's. It's crazy to me that I've never before heard of this album, the band, or these songs, because it was all a good jam. Better late than never I suppose. Everyone should give this insane album a listen!

Mind blown! First time listening. I'm not sure how the opening track got me, it almost became transcendent. The rest of the tracks flowed rockingly, until that oddly annoying metallic pronging noise throughout the penultimate track. I was close to giving it a 5, but the metallic annoyance down-starred it. An otherwise sublime album!

Proto funk rock

Good funk album, was a fan throughout. Will need to revisit it when I'm more focused. Probably 4.5/5 on initial impressions.

I'd heard of this album but I'd never actually listened to it before. I was expecting something funk-based, but instead it's more psychedelic rock with a strong social conscience. I feel like I appreciate the craft of the album more than the album itself. I'm not sure if I'd actually listen to this again.

Great stuff, there's a stark difference between the first track and the rest of the album but I don't mind it, I think it still sounds cohesive. Both parts are so good, the sparse guitary first track, and the funky second half. Almost a five, but I wasn't feeling the last couple of tracks as much

Maggot Brain is gorgeously sludgy, even if it is a glorified guitar solo, it has enough weirdness going on that it doesn't offend me. Always loved Can You Get To That. Summer essential that one! Hit It and Quit It is good, but not up to the first two tracks. The rest of the album remains very funky and fun, but never quite hits the sublime heights of the start. Still great though!

Love this album, maybe being harsh but just misses out on a 5 because of the two 10 minute songs dragging on a little.

Opening track is a bold move. I don't care much for extended guitar solos that don't seem to serve a song, but gotta respect kicking off an album 10 minutes of sad Hendrix. Plus it's not too masterbatory here. Plus plus it serves the album - I think the point might be to work all the dark and heavy stuff out of your maggot brain from the jump so you can be free to enjoy the remaining 25 booty shaking minutes. The group vocal funk stuff is pretty dope - high voice, mid voice, low low booty rumble voice. The riff rock funk stuff is pretty good - still moves the booty. The fart sounds are fart sounds. It's all a booty shaker. Into it. A-

Opening song is 🥵

Actually really good. Reminded me of Awaken My Love from Childish Gambino. Can tell he pulled from this genre and maybe even this album a lot. First instrumental guitar riff song was cool, but even better once you got to the rest of the album.

Liked the instrumentals particularly in the opening half of the album. Very good energy but gets quite hectic towards the end.

Great Album

Just a super cool album with a bunch of moods. It's a shame it wasn't more well-received at the time. It would have been really interesting to see this album have a larger effect on the direction of music in the 70s

No idea what to expect, but the album title and artist name seemed like a major deterrent. However, this album is just amazing. The title track actually reminds me of a heavy guitar pink floyd jam. The rhythm/groove on the remaining tracks is infectious without being overdone. The vocals fit, but the music is what soars. Wars of Armageddon is the only one i probably don't need to listen to again. Surprising!

On the whole I did enjoy this album, it was so funky! But I did start to get bored towards the end unfortunately. 4/5 stars.

The track "Super Stupid" was described by Pitchfork as a "tale of a dumbass junkie set to a tune Black Sabbath would have been proud of."[2] The 9-minute closing track "Wars of Armageddon" has been described as a "freak-out" jam,[4] and makes use of "paranoid, psychedelic sound effects and crowd sounds."[2] Popular music scholar Yuval Taylor described it as "a burning hot prefiguring" of the music that Miles Davis would perform on his 1975 live album Agharta. The album's liner notes are a polemic on fear provided by the Process Church of the Final Judgement, an obscure Satanist religious cult. According to author Rickey Vincent, the organization's presumed association with mass-murderer Charles Manson, along with the album's foreboding themes and striking artwork, lent Funkadelic the image of a "death-worshipping black rock band." After the album was released, the band effectively disbanded:[3] drummer Tiki Fulwood was fired due to drug use; guitarist Tawl Ross reportedly got into an "acid eating contest, then snorting some raw speed, before completely flipping out" and has not performed since; bassist Billy Nelson quit over a money dispute with Clinton.

Great stuff, but -1 star for Wars of Armageddon and a slightly indulgent opening track.

3.5, for a band called Funkadelic, I didn't expect the opening song. The first half definitely stands out, but there was a lot to love about the experimental second half barring the closing flatulence

This one is a new to me. I have heard of it in passing for sure, but never actually sat down to listen to it myself. Back in our minds absolutely made my brain go nuts. The ringing switching from ear to ear making my whole body tingle. Solid piece of art.

starts off strong - some of it is really out there (War of Armageddeon) or what sounds like filler (Whole lot of BS) and then an amazing soul song (I miss my baby)... i do like it though - great stuff. Bootsy is so cool.

Funky. A lot of songs about poo.

This was a surprise! bloody loved it- sounds like it was recorded yesterday rather than 50 years ago! Guess I haven't heard it before as Bjorno said they self destructed not long after putting this out. Seems to have influenced so much of the music I love. Prince, Primal Scream and Alabama 3 have borrowed a fair bit of this. A great record in in own right and will be getting plenty of future listens from me. 4/5

Amazed that this is from 1971. Childish Gambino was clearly inspired by this album for ‘Awaken, My Love’ a few years ago. Gonna play this loud in my car quite often in future. Really loved the solo on the title track, the vocals in general, and the Hendrix-inspired guitar on ‘Super Stupid’. And the energy rules.

Första intryck: bara skumt. Lyssnat 5 min på första låten (av 10). Typ Jimmy Hendrix på mkt knark. Gillar att plonka på gitarren med skumma effekter. Men sen blir det bra mycket bättre! Blir genast mer melodiskt i låt 2. Klassisk 70tals funk, med najs sound och härligt svängiga riff. Inget jag skulle lyssna mycket på pga inte riktigt min stil, men det låter bra! Skumt att Maggot Brain låten är den by far mest lyssnade på? Trodde därför att det var lixom den bästa på albumet.

I remember not liking this for some reason the first time I heard it but I was all about it this time around. Loved the big wailing guitar, especially all over Super Stupid and the title track. Also the weird little triangle-on-acid thing on Back in Our Mind is sick. Definitely better than what I've heard from Parliament so far but still a 4.

Never judge a book by its cover or an album by its title. Not something I would have picked up or even stumbled across if it hadn't been for the wonders of the Internet but a wonderful listen.

Ok, this wasn't what I was expecting... the first 10min is literally just a big, bluesy guitar solo. The only "funky" thing about it is the wah. Either way, fuckin cool for early 70s. Rest of the album is complete songs, I wouldn't really say funk so much as rock with a funk edge. Catchy and fun with spooky vibes in the keyboards/samples/FX. Kinda feels like Jimi Hendrix meets Santana with a bit of b-movie silliness thrown in. 4/5, probably in reality a 3 but it gets an extra point for being a fun surprise. This morning the site first recommended Transformer by Lou Reed, but shat itself when I tried to add my savage thoughts on that turd. Then it reloaded to this album.... weird bug. Fuck I hope I don't get that Lou Reed album tomorrow :(

This one doesn’t fully click with me. The opener/title track is the one exception, an incredible ten-minute Hendrix-esque guitar solo with tons of crazy effects on it. However, the other long track, the closer ‘Wars of Armageddon’, doesn’t do much for me, and is quite irritating with all the bizarre sounds and dialogue. The five short songs in between are fairly good (they have fun grooves and some good guitar work), but none of them are really spectacular either. It’s still good enough for 3 stars, but this is my least favourite of the Parliament-Funkadelic albums on this list.

Enjoyable funk and rock album. Didn’t overstay it’s welcome; liked the instrumental start, and very strong rhythms and drums.

I've tried this one in the past because it's got a ton of hype and must-hear credentials. The title song is interesting with odd lyrics and atmospheric guitars. I didn't know George Clinton wrote "Can You Get To That", that's been covered by a bunch of other artists. Very 70's vibe, more guitar than I would have assumed, it rocks hard at times ("Maggot Brain", "Super Stupid", "Wars of Armageddon". I can hear the influence this would have had on rock at the time, on future of rap artists and for the coming funk explosion of the late 70's. It's not a great album to listen to in my opinion but it is important, a necessary building block in music history. 3 stars for quality, 4 if you add in influence.

The first and last songs were to long for me. Not saying they were bad just too long. Would have prefared a couple of other songs. The rest was excellant great beats and rhythms.

Some pretty good songs, 'Can You Get To That' and 'Back In Our Minds' being the standouts. Broadly too indulgent and I didn't appreciate the fart compilation.

Feels important but sounds kind of average, didn't grab my attention as far as funk goes

I dreaded this, just as I dread anything that involves the word “funk”, but oh my goodness. Why *does* this have the word “funk” involved? This was like shockingly good to me. This is why I will continue doing this damn list. Things like this that I would have never in a million years listened to that turn out to be so different from what I expected.

Hard to evaluate this album based on its sheer erratic content. The title track guitar solo (recorded after George Clinton asked guitarist Eddie Hazel to play as if he'd heard about his mother's death!) is sonically inventive and an impressive take, with the influence of the recently departed Hendrix evident. I like some of the straight ahead funky ones and 'super stupid' has a Black Sabbath feel to it. Any music by George Clinton will have that level of unpredictability to it and I think the final track is just garbage - a barely funky jam on one chord. I think I would have preferred Sly Stone at the time - Prince obviously loved both!

I've listened and been touched countless times by the maggot brain guitar solo song but I never felt like listening to the whole album. It's not bad, it's a very good album but at the same time that maggot brain is the best and most interesting song the rest of the album has a lesser impact and maybe I was expecting a different sound just for the name of the band, not very similar to what I think when I think of "funk".

I didn't like this as much as I would straight funk.

It is August seven, 2026. Around 4 PM and I’m driving down the parkway in New Jersey to go to Philly right now. After just listen to this, my initial thoughts were, “this is a lot more jam than I thought.“ And also, “this is very much a soundscape.“ It definitely feels like a lot of everybody was just in a room and just Vibin out and then they made an album just for shits. I get this about a 3 1/2 out of five. I really like it but it’s not something that I would like go back into for like songwriting purposes or even just like… To listen to. Listen to this I’ll take another listen sometime just let that settle in but in my initial reaction it’s just… Very much a jam heavy album and it’s enjoyable, but it’s not something I’d come back to every day.

Maybe too experimental for me. I found a lot of the sound effects off putting. The musicality is phenomenal though.

I knew the minute I heard those funky beats kick in from the off I would love this album… but… Track 1 the title track was awesome, fun, funky and off the scale cool rocking. Certainly gave rock album vibes. ‘Can you get to that’ was cool- the bass player on point in this track. However the album then seemed to just turn into an album of ok for me. Rattling out 4 super fast ‘filler’ tracks. ‘Wars of Armageddon’ the sound affects that were added were just weird and it felt so meh- cats fighting, cows mooing, farts. Just weird and didn’t actually help the track in any way. Best track - ‘maggot brain’ Worst track- ‘hit it and quit it’ Overall nothing massively special and certainly not something I would choose to listen to again apart from the first two tracks, although they do take up a massive chunk of the album so therefore 6.5/10

Classic funk. Pretty fun.

Chaotic in a very 1971 kind of way. The guitar on the opening track is amazing, but the song is too long for me to call it enjoyable. This album - from the title, to the cover art, to the music - is meant to be confrontational and jarring. And it succeeds at that. It is technically complex and interesting. I just don't like listen to it.

What a unique album. I liked the part where there was screaming and farting.

1. Maggot Brain: starts a bit slow. I like how spacey the mix is, but I'm left with a feeling like this is an extended intro? I'll be patient. The guitar playing is wonderful! I'm glad the soft picking in the background gets to breathe in the left ear as it does. 2. CYGTT: PSYCHIC DAMAGE OF A SAMPLE SOURCE. Love the choral effect. The baritone is such fun . Okay. Yeah. I had that on in the background. I enjoyed it. Musicianship was stellar. Only a few things really got my ass moving, though. A bit underwhelming outside of the historical context? Idk. Worth a future relisten, but I'm presently at 3 stars.

Not what I was expecting based on the title. Album started strong with a few really good tracks, but by the end dropped off considerably. I’m wavering between a 3 and 4, might need to listen to it again to give it a fair judgment.
