Reviews (page 10 of 14)

You know what you’re going to get when you listen to Metallica, and this does not undershoot or overshoot those expectations.

Repetitive

Dentro del género de trash-metal. Album siniestro, llamándome la atención el tema One más melódico y el sorprendente to live is to die por lo variado y ecléctico

It’s Metallica so it’s never ever going to be bad. I was never seriously into Metal anymore than I am into Hip-Hop, meaning I like the top shelf stuff and can listen to it, but I’m not a deep diver into the genre. A few songs from Metallica (such as One) from this album are on my permanent play list, but 90% of what they put out sounds all the same to me and that’s why I don’t dig too deeply. But it’s never bad, never makes me angry, and never makes me shut it off.

The Metallica formula: Slightly distorted electric guitar as the main feature Hard Drums James Hetfield's voice Slow build Pretty much all of their songs follow that formula and sound similar. This album wasn't bad but it was repetitive. Outside of One, which is a great song, most of the songs sound very similar and the easiest way to tell them apart is wait for them to say the song title in the lyrics.

The official mix for this album is terrible. I feel like this album would be a lot better if it was 10 - 15 minutes shorter, a lot of the songs feel repetitive and too long. Despite how tired I get of Metallica some times, One is always a banger

Como todo lo que hace Metallica, a la larga termina siendo repetitivo y un coñazo. Está bien para un rato.

Tight, complex, thrash metal. No one does it better.

While I like Metallica, this album mostly doesnt do it for me. The songs all sound too similar and the guitar is a kind of piercing scream. Some of the solos are reminiscent of what i like about Metallica

- Great guitar tone - Noticeable absence of bass in the mix - Amazing, iconic vocals by James - Masterful guitar riffs - Simple, but fitting drums - Drums are slightly too loud in the mix, but can sound very thin, noticeably in the opening track - Really powerful lyricism - Tracks can drag on at times, many songs could have been trimmed slightly, which would have helped each have their own identity - Really memorable guitar riffs, tune stays stuck in your head after listening - Instrumental sections are not boring to listen to, even when looping the same guitar riffs, just fun to listen to - With 'One' it is easy to see how it gained such fame, as such a deeply emotional track, with a slow start leading into a really powerful message about the tragedy of war, and those left abandoned after suffering it - Powerful imagery, on topics of war and injustice - Such an iconic, powerful guitar tone, its worth mentioning twice - Tracks can blend together, especially as you start to lose attention as the tracks have such extended length - I tried so hard to love this album, as the cultural impact it had was huge, and while I can appreciate the tracks individually, as whole the album was just exhausting to listen to, with most tracks overstaying their welcome, and lacking identity in comparison to each other. Despite this, I do love each track, and it is understandable why Metallica is the figurehead for their genre, as they make truly great metal music. However, I do feel a lot of their previous work has trumped this album, and it felt like it could have been polished so much more.

Not as great as I once thought it was

Not my thing but ok

fave track: harvester of sorrow final thoughts: really not my thing...

7.5/10 umm i’m not sure how to feel about this album, mainly because i’m not too familiar with the metal genre esp with its do’s and dont’s. however i liked how it sounded, the only thing that pissed me off is that there was ZERO BASS. despite the heavy instrumentals used, they all fell flat because of the absence of bass. so disappointing, would’ve rated it higher if there was some bass. also despite the good lyricism here, a lot of the songs felt drawn out. maybe i need to listen to more metal so i can properly appreciate this album, but for now it’s solid at best.

I can appreciate the musicality and lyrics/message (after looking them up) but I'm just not into music like this. Couldn't understand the words and all the songs sounded the same (except for One, which I already liked from the guitar hero days). Nothing spectacular in my opinion but back in 1988 I'm sure it was a little more "important".

Seems fun to play, not as much to listen to.

I seem to say this a lot, but I don't quite 'get' Metallica. I think I missed what made them most resonant, although I like quite a bit of their stuff. This doesn't strike me as a must-listen though, there's their usual repetitive chugging which hasn't aged so well, and I've never really liked Hetfield's voice. That said, the good bits are pretty good, and metal is metal, so a 3 by default.

Took the advice of plenty in the thread and listened to the mix on Youtube with the bass. Enjoyed it, but not as much as I thought I might really. It's kinda prog metal? I like the bits where it's a bit more complex (and proggy) rather than where it all too often gets into a 'look how fast and repetitively I can play my guitar' show. First half is definitely better than the second, but it doesn't do enough to make a 4. A (definitely not middle of the road) 3/5.

Good album. Appreciate the guitar.

One carries the album

Yeah, Metallica.

...and growly vocals for all

No Napster link? 3.

Thus begins the Jason Newsted era of Metallica. I miss Cliff Burton. The production on this album is awful, and I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing I can't hear the bass. Even if the bass wasn't mixed low, it literally just follows the guitar anyway. There is some solid guitar work here and it's not the worst I've heard Lars sound, though the drums and guitar sound a bit compressed.

Heavy, meandering backing guitar with sharp solo work and rough vocals. Not as harsh as I expected

Sounds like Metallica. I know people love the 80s Metallica, and I don't disagree necessarily, but I feel like this album in particular is basically one song that's an hour and five minutes long. Maybe that's what they were going for? I don't know. I mean fast double bass drum and guitars chugging nonstop gets a little wearing when there isn't really anything to break it up. Guitar solos are brilliant, if a little derivative. One and Harvester of Sorrow are the only songs that really stand out on this one. Also I think the production could have been better. For an album that was trying to be heavy the mastering seems like it was a bit tinny or something. Like it could have been fuller and they needed more lows and low mids in the mix. I might come back to this one day but I'd have to be in the right headspace.

*repeating “harvester of sorrow” over and over again* me: gee i wonder what this song is called

It's nice to have confirmation that I'm not a huge Metallica fan. Fast and driving so I can see why it's good for working out and running but I'm good on all that.

Not a bad album, but One and To Live Is to Die were leagues above the rest. Stand-out: One

Good workout album

I honestly liked it more than I thought I would. There were a couple songs that were too repetitive for me, but also a few that I could definitely see being added to my weightlifting playlist. It really helped me understand why people say “they don’t make rock music like this anymore“

Never really listened to that much metallica. Not a bad ablum 3.5 stars for me

Besta hingað til en ekki besta Metallica platan

3.5 probably should be a 4 but I'm not huge into thrash

not the best metallica but its up there

This is a great pump up, workout, or high energy album. Looking through the intensity and aggressiveness of these songs (vocals, drums, and guitar), it's pretty damn technical. They use a lot of speed changes and loose forms throughout which still sound organized in the end product. Still, not my type of music. Reminds me of an accomplished white suburban father sitting in his garage drinking bear and acting tough. Want to give less than a 3 opinion-based but for this type of metal, its impressively made to say the least. Personal Favorites: One, To live is to die

-omg METALLICA!!!!!!! -it is time to rock and mf roll -i mean i already feel like i’m going to really like this album -if this heavy guitar is anything to go by -i’m going to be honest. i’m not as big a fan of this as i thought -the guitar isn’t bad! not a huge fan of the screamy singy -i am enjoying some good ol classic rock tho. feels like i’m being educated -album cover is really cool i forgot to mention that -yeah it was a good album! feels middle of the road to me personally so three stars

I appreciate that Metallica uses lots of tempo shifts. A lot of metal (and punk) is a thousand miles an hour with no variation. That can wear out its welcome. Metallica never really gets quiet, but they do have levels. It builds. It breaks. And through it all, my favorite part of Metallica’s music is Kirk Hammett’s guitar work. It’s incredible - thrashing chords, solos, he does it all with ease. My least favorite part of Metallica’s music is James Hetfield’s vocals. Though I prefer 80s Hetfield before he started really overdoing everything. My least favorite part of Metallica is that Lars Ulrich (and Hetfield too) is a dick. He’s a great drummer though. All that is great in Metallica is present on “...And Justice For All.” Of course “One” is perhaps the track that puts it all together best, but “Harvester of Sorrow” is another good one. Still, I think “Ride the Lightning” is the better album, and it was left off the list. The first four songs on that album are a wild ride, maybe the best four song run of any of their albums.

Metallica shreds. Then shreds a different riff. And shreds in a unique tempo. Shreds a contrasting riff. Varies with a short bridge. Shreds the original riff. Harder. Faster. Changes it up with another riff. Fast and clean. Fast and clean. Shreds a distinctly new riff. Shreds disparately, as fast as possible. Hetfield grunts words…mmmmm yeah! They diverge again, shredding Shredder like shredded cheddar. shred…Shredding…SHREDDED!!!! I’ve run out of synonyms for different…(exhale)… It is all incredibly impressive technically, yet feels entirely superfluous. Side note: It’s a travesty that Ride The Lightning is not one of Metallica’s four entries in the 1001.

It's ok. The production is pretty alright. All the songs kind of sound the same. Overrated band tbh A solid 3/5

Solid metal album. The hits are hits for a good reason! I was a bit bored with the first half of the album, felt very much like "generic metal" but the last half realllllly was great and I ended up adding two songs to my favorites!

An underrated thing that this generator has led me to being able to do is understanding a bit more when an album has bad (or "bad") production. That doesn't mean I understand why people would say such a thing all the time, but I can wrap my head around it most of the time. Metallica is no stranger to this accusation, famously with the drums on St. Anger (which if you can't hear the issue with those things after a few moments of listening you're deaf) and today's album, ...And Justice for All. I mean, it certainly isn't as bad as that album, but where is any of the oomph with this album? It just feels so stringy with nearly no bass in sight, and it can come off as hollow. Does that stop the album from having good tracks? No, the opener is great, and One is basically Metallica's Stairway to Heaven, but a lot of the remaining tracks get repetitive with nothing to really set them apart, as you get the same guitar-drum shtick with each song, and the length of the album despite only having nine tracks just means it's all the more noticeable. I love the inclusion of an acoustic guitar in this album, it really helps break up the monotony, but they seem scared to even toy with the idea of a full song of something more mellow, and I understand why, but that's what makes it hard to stomach too much Metallica at once for me. I do sound overly negative here, as I tend to when I have glaring issues with an album, but this is still a solid metal album from the band, with tracks I do think deserve their iconic status. I just struggle to give this more than a more middle of the road ranking, when I know bands like Anthrax and Megadeth will do far better ranking wise once I get them on here.

Zwei, drei banger. Vor allem eye of the beholder. Ich lmag die energie, es ist wie, als würde man den kiefer voll zusammenbeissen, es ist so ein unironisches pushen. Ansonsten für mich als nicht metal head, sagen wir, als metal helmet, zu viel vom gleichen

The end of the great first 4 albums by the band. Not as complete as Puppets or Lightning, but as overall pretty good. 3.5/5 Would listen again

Good, just not really my style.

Solid metal album. The hits are hits for a good reason! I was a bit bored with the first half of the album, felt very much like "generic metal" but the last half realllllly was great and I ended up adding two songs to my favorites!

It’s good. It’s Metallica.

En dehors de One, toujours l'impression d'entendre la même chanson avec Metallica.

couldn’t finish it, just really wasn’t into this type of music today

+1 for nostalgia

Great guitar, and I prefer the vocals to Marquee Moon. I do find it a bit repetitive.

So many guitar solos

Metallica being Metallica !!

Cool for what it is but I’m not a metal fan so I don’t know if this is good

Aggressive, not an 8 AM album. It’s good not great. I think compared to other Metallica albums this one suffers under the weight of how aggressive it is, you can tell they’re missing Cliff Burton’s musicality here. Still have some great songs though Songs of Note -And Justice for All -One

not really my kind of thing, but the end of the album has some sincerely beautiful stuff

Something I never would’ve considered listening to before this list, I liked it way more than I thought I would. One is a certified jam, some of the other tracks are pretty repetitive and 65 minutes for a 9 track album is waaay too long, but overall a 2.5 rounded up to 3. For sure more open minded to trying out more Metallica than I was a day ago.

Not my thing, one is good, the rest are okay but heavy for me

Most of the songs are too long and blend into each other. One is still a great track though.

Inoffensive. A bit samey. Decent, a good battle soundtrack to reading the train sequence of ONe pIEcE.

Sonically better as a metal album but still not really my type of music.

Most of the time, I have a difficulty distinguishing where one Metallica song ends and another begins. This is one of those times. It's... fine? I guess.

Nice, would love to hear some of their songs on a party, but overall not really my vibe

Listening through this album made it clear to me how talented the members of Metallica really are. A well made concept album all the way through. The instrumentation, although sounding similar, has its intricacy's. I just don't personally emotionally engage with the music. Same thing happened with the Alice In Chains album Dirt. It just didn't connect with me as much as some other stuff. That being said i did appreciate the album and listening all the way through did give me a better understanding of their music. But I'm rating these off of a mixture of overall quality and personal taste, but mostly personal taste. Highlights Include: Eye of The Beholder One To Live Is To Die

Production is dogshit. Performances are excellent. Except for the bass. I’m sure the performance is fine but I can’t hear it so who knows. Probably my second least favorite of 80s Metallica. Still good, but grating to listen to. Every song is way too long even by Metallica standards, paired with the terrible production it makes it almost painful to listen to by the end. 1001 albums and I’ve gotten only ones I’ve known so far. Gimme something weird. I wanna hear something new.

High energy

metals not my thing but i didn't hate it

Probably amazing - but not my type of music. Would rather not vote on it at all as I can't do it justice

Looong songs I can appreciate it but Im not hearing this much again

Not a fan of heavier rock. The slower songs were nice.

Decent Metallica album. Def transition from early Metallica to master of puppets/ black album Metallica. Fav tracks: blackened, …And Justice for All, One. Least Fav: eye of the beholder

Probably the best of the THREE Metallica albums that have been on the list. But I just find their songs way too long and the style repetitive. Like we get it. 9 mins of quiet to loud is just unnecessary.

For the most part, the songs felt very similar to each other. I didn't feel like I was gaining much with each new song. The stand out track is 'One', for which I am adding an additional star.

Yeah, this one was fun.

Tuplabasifanina pidin tästä kävelymusiikkina. Mutta en erota biisejä toisistaan. Paitsi Onen. Jos kuuntelee sanoituksia, saa hupia.

Maybe i just wasnt in the mood for metallica today, but man, the snare sound, and the drum sound in general sounded so cheap and crappy when i listened this morning. Obviously I'm aware it's part of the gimmick of Lars, but the drums just sound way better on Master. I think I much prefer the other metallica albums in the book, and this album does have One, which is clearly outstanding, but generally this album is overly long and the long periods of instrumentals without vocals just seemed a bit aimless today. I liked some of the quieter parts on the album that come up every so often, but generally i found listening to it underwhelming, which hasn't happened with any album I've been familiar with before taking on the list I will give it a 3/5, but it could go either way depending on my mood

It’s a pretty classic album, for sure.

Metallica has never really done anything for me. I feel they deserve their recognition and fame. They have good build ups in their songs. Just never really sparked much interest for me.

Some good stuff but it mostly just seems to bleed together and sound very samey. not the best from them.

I expected more

Nice riffs but some songs drag

SONG RATINGS : 1 - 5 1. blackened - 3.5 2. and justice for all - 2 3. eye of the beholder - 3 4. One - 2.5 5. the zhortezt ztrauu - 3 6. harvezter of zorrouu - 3 7. the frayed endz of zanity - 3 8. to live iz to die - 2.5 9. dyerz eve - 3

I enjoyed the instrumental openings - great drums and guitars - but after the vocals began, I kept skipping the tracks! Clearly a great band, but not for me.

Just Metallica

Some stand-out classics on this album, but altogether it's just average for me.

I enjoyed this for what it was, not exactly my genre though. 3/5

It is fine. A couple good songs some seem like a repeat.

...And Justice for All is the fourth album by American heavy metal band Metallica. This thrash/progressive metal album features aggressive and complex song structures, but little lyrics or chorus. The album has been acclaimed for its depth and is certified 8x platinum in the US, while the single "One" earned the band their first Grammy for Best Metal Performance in 1990. At release, it was Metallica's best-selling album (this record was beaten by their self-titled next album) and was their radio breakthrough album - receiving lots of media exposure. Controversially, the bass/low end of the album was muffled and is mostly inaudible. This knocked some points off from critics and the reasoning from production is that the band made it happen during mixing because their hearing had been shot from all the touring they did, so they couldn't hear the bass anyway. I thought this was an awesome metal album for its long songs and varying guitar riffs that let each track evolve into something different. It was heavy and fast-paced, but had some parts that were sonically slower and actually beautiful instead of aggressive. Any fan of metal will love this album and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

AJ: 80’s Metallica is way more scary than 90’s Metallica.

A little more cheese, theatricality, and less going for the jugular, meant I was less on board with this than Puppets. It's still a very solid record though, and while the length pushed it for me I found myself grooving to a lot of pockets throughout. Fave track: To Live is to Die

I don't really like James' vocals but eh, it's a classic

Bastante bien, pero tampoco de mis favs de metallica

Metal isn’t really my thing, but I was still able to enjoy listening to this album. I liked a lot of the openings to the songs. 3/5.

Really drags at times and To Live is to Die seems proof that they are better without vocals. Could use a better drummer.

Not a huge fan of Metallica. However, the musical motifs and themes are consistent, the production is high quality and Lars Ullrich dedication to not using any crash cymbals is very interesting.

It’s complex. Just not really my vibe

Honestly didn’t have time to listen through and I’m not running back to catch up and I think this rating shows that. It’s a good album, really clean but just not my genre of choice so I’m happy to have enjoyed what I did listen to but not needing more.

Galloping palm-muted power chords, loud drums. ONE. Galloping palm-muted power chords, loud drums.

ok. nothing ground breaking that i can hear

One good song. The rest were ok, seems like they mostly went for making as much noise as possible with wild guitar distortions rather than coherent songs. The most popular song is the one with a little bit of control

I think I liked Master of Puppets a little more, but both were pretty good. I like Hetfield's voice, it's satisfying to hear. I don't think I like metal that much, but this is solid. My favourite song was One.

Nao sou muito fa de Metallica, pra falar a verdade

The first Metallica record without Cliff Burton, and there was a noticeable change. The first Metallica record i had heard in full was Ride The Lightening, the first record I owned was Master of Puppets. Something had been lost. The early albums were balanced and crafted. There were moments of true brilliance. AJFA doesn’t flow like the early records. Some songs are excessively long. The melody has gone and the quality had dropped.

Jason's bass sound was turned down to be totally invisible. It was absolutely unjust. Thus the musical prowess of the whole album was ruined. Fav Track: Eye of the Beholder.

Fourth studio album released in 1988. The harmonic guitars are so good. The let down is obviously the lack of any bass coming through. The album just sounds completely flat. I'm a fan of an album full of long tracks.

Probably their most progressive of their first few albums. The songs are generally pretty long, something they've picked up again since Death Magnetic but with 1/100th of the songwriting skill shown here. The big let down is definitely the production, without any bass the whole sound is very flat. What is impressive though is how memorable and fun to listen to the songs are despite the length, the title track is a great example of this at nearly 10 minutes. For the first half at least this is true, after One the quality does take a bit of a hit, but not enough to completely turn me off the album. Definitely still worth a listen but wouldn't put it above the two albums that preceeded it.

I never liked metal, or metallica all that much. I have seen them live, and that was an awesome experience, as the singers voice has become a lot nicer to listen to. I would never listen to this myself, but I understand why others would like it

I always slagged off Metallica for being fake Metal. This? This is metal

One is a tune. I can't take Harvester of Sorrow seriously because of the restaurant chain - it feels like a Bill Bailey sketch as a result...

BL: Metallica as mentioned in my black album review, is something I listened to a little bit back when I was first getting into metal but not much before or since. So it’s good to be finally expanding my mind with them. AL: I think in terms of the Metallica discography, this and “Ride the Lightning” show them at their purest in terms of thrash metal. I think this did less for me than the black album did as this didn’t really try to experiment with the formula. This is just pure thrash, and if that’s your lane you’ll love it but to me it’s not really my go to metal sub genre so it wasn’t the worlds most inspiring listen. FT: “blackened”, “one”, “to live is to die” 3/5

I expected something different

Angry as fuck with very hit-or-miss drumming. not their best but DEFINITELY not anywhere near their worst cuz blackened and frayed ends exist. great harmonies and james’ lyric writing is at one of its peaks for sure, I also really like the proggier angle to their metal with longer songs and diverse phrasing of riffs and passages

Got some bangers.

Not really my thing, but can understand why it's on the list, and a bonus star as it seems to be a good production (rather than just noise)

For me, there are better Metallica albums.

if “we live in a society” was made into an hourlong musical number. like a lot of the riffs and instrumental but its nothing spectacular compared to their earlier work

It's intense and skillful, but still doesnt quite crack the hardness nut. If I wanted raw aggression I'd go for dnb or hardcore hip hop. I respect it, but dont love it. *Very* hard to work to.

A decent album by Metallica, full of intense guitar and drum riffs, and melodies that make it classically Metallica. But what is it with these bands from the 80s having such long albums and in particular releasing double albums? Best: Eye of the Beholder Worst: To Live Is To Die

A solid Metallica album. I feel like some tracks here tend to drag on for too long (if you're not a fan of long guitar solos), but overall there are more good tracks than not.

It's Metallica... I mean it's fine.

My husband was very excited this morning when I told him that this was my album of the day. Unfortunately, I'm not into metal whatsoever. I can't deny Metallica's massive talent, that much is obvious. I just don't enjoy listening to metal. It all sounds the same to me. I did recognize "One" because I don't live under a rock, and it was the highlight of the album for me.

Album Notes: - Blackened is a great start BUT holy cow where's the bass its just ALL high end i feel like im gonna get tinnitus - Title track be long af but its really epic and goes hard but yeah my ears still hurt from any lack of low end - Eye of The Beholder was okay, pretty standard Metallica - One = NUT - Next couple tracks are solid but feel like they're a couple minutes too long - Viking chants are silly - Okay braining turning off during To Live Is To Die -The closer woke me back up so that's good Best Tracks: Blackened, ...And Justice For All, One, Dyers Eve Worst Tracks: Eye of The Beholder, The Frayed Ends Of Sanity

Sometimes songs are too long for no reason. 3.5 really as I bloody love Metallica

Just fine isn’t it.

Runk-gugga-gunk-gugga-gunk! Headbangers ball, through and through. Not my casual listen of choice, but the presence of One on this and the overall sense of rock n roll/ metal gives it a middle of the road score for me.

Svo sem ekki leiðinlegt, margt útspecúlerað og sniðugt, en thrash er bara ekki tónlist fyrir mig.

I would give this 4 stars, but I'm deducting it a star for the horrible mix that all but erases Jason Newstead's bass parts because Lars Ulrich is a total bell-end.

Finally heard the full album. Read the memes about the missing bass. + Blackened + ...and Justice for All + One DARKNESS IMPRISONING ME ALL THAT I SEE ABSOLUTE HORROR

Ive never really listened to Metallica before, i guess i was maybe expecting more? This was pretty decent, just nothing amazing.

It's more of a 3.5, but the mix really bothers me enough to make it a 3 and not a 4.

Not bad. It really starts to wear its welcome thin by the end though.

It's been a LOT of years since I listened to this the few times I have before today, and even then I was far removed from the actual time of its release which may have lost some impact for me. I very much dig the themes they've approached on this album but I think, for the most part, they've been done better elsewhere. It's an enjoyable listen, but not a life-changing one. Other than "One" - which is an all-timer song for me. But the album version always leaves me longing for the video version with the bits from Johnny Got His Gun spliced in. That version destroys me every time.

Crunching riffs, twin guitar harmonies and doom-laden lyrics. What's not to like? I would definitely have been into Metallica had I not stopped listening to metal in the 1980s. I found it a bit plodding and unremitting in parts and not sure I would listen to this much now, although I do like some Metallica

The sound of a band undergoing furious evolution. The riffs are still pieces of granite, the drums thud, the guitars occasionally wail and there’s growly vocals. The songs are a bit longer than on For Whom… and in the case of To Live is to Die there are slow sections that contrast nicely with the full on sludgerama that is their default sound. On this track, there’s perhaps a whiff of a new genre emerging, thrash prog. Mmm. The slow bits could be lifted from late-70s Rush. Elsewhere, as on opener Blackened it is all thrash all the time. Interesting that they went for a more recognisable heavy metal sound next on the black album, as this is the sound of a band both slowing down (the overall tempo must be slower than Master of Puppets…) and expanding their sound. Dyer’s Eve and Blackened are perhaps last runs through the faster-than-you sound of the early stuff before MTV beckoned. There’s even a thrash ballad in One: practically auditioning for a slot on Leather and Lace IV. What are they singing about? You know, world domination, injustice, terror, death. Going out with them must be a bundle of laughs. Unless they confirm to the old theatrical truism that the cast playing Hamlet are in hysterics all the time, while those doing a Noel Coward are throwing shade to each other non-stop.

esta bien lo que pasa es que no me gusta tanto como otros, pero 7/10

Instrumentals were impeccable albeit harsh, not what I'm used to but with repeated listening I'd definitely appreciate it more. Lyrics are actually touching, contradicting my initial expectations of the album. Overall solid, but not my cup of tea.

Rating: 5/10 Not huge into metal, so not the album for me but overall not bad.

i see the influences this album has has on modern music

This band produced solid music over the ages. I know many who think this is their best album. And, yeah, I can see why. From time to time you always want to shout: 'Master!' - Wrong album, I know, but it would work. I don't know if that's a good or a bad sign.

Not even my favorite Metallica album of the decade.

DARKNESS. IMPRISONING ME. ALL THAT I SEE. ABSOLUTE HORROR. Other than One this didn't hold up as well as i remembered. I really like Metallica's proggier side but idk about this one. Jason isn't as good as Cliff (RIP) and Lars's lackluster drums stick out like a sore thumb. It's still solid though, just didn't amaze me now as much as it did in freshman year of high school.

solid tracks in here!

I think it's safe to say that this album marks the end of the classic thrash metal era of Metallica albums. This album doesn't reach the heights of Master of Puppets in my opinion, but it's still pretty good overall. It would be better if you could hear the goddamn bass in the mix, but apparently Lars needed to place his mediocre drumming prominently in a way that obscured their new bassist's skill. It definitely leaves the album feeling kinda empty at times. I'm not sure that people would remember this album nearly as fondly if One weren't on the album. That track sounds like the old Metallica. A lot of the others sound a bit generic to me. 3/5

some hilariously washed out mixing and a barren/austere first half, but it grows on you over time. not totally convinced of those lyrics tho

Solid metallica album, altho far from their best. Aside from a couple tracks i dont come back to this much.

Good melodies, hard to understand lyrics

Decent but not my stuff.

Metal Lords suck dick

It's hard to follow up the back to back masterpieces Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets, so of course this doesn't live up to those two. That being said it's still pretty solid, and One is an incredible song - it just drags in parts sometimes. Another one that i was familiar with but never sat down and listened to all the way through

Note: So first full Metallica album listen... And not that familiar with them to begin with tbh. A very interesting record! I enjoyed when we get 3rds and harmony. And just great sick guitar stuff all around! The mix has me very confused though. I wrote down listening to The Shortest Straw: "At what volume am I supossed to listen this at?" but that could just be time dating it, I don't know. Overall, liked parts (a lot) but a lot of times I couldn't fall into the energy and be with them in the song. Will revisit songs from this record definitely though. Top Stuff: Blackened, One, To Live Is To Die, Dyers Eve Bottom Stuff: Harvester Of Sorrow

Instantly recognisable with their sound. Enjoyed this. One was a standout for me. Accidentally found myself in a mosh pit at Glasto watching these. Kept calm and got punched in the throat. All in all a good time. High 3

This is probably the best version of this type of music. The guitar and drum work is excellent. But it's just not my thing.

Guitar go egheneojrbrkisbenskjeheb

Not my genre anymore. If I liked heavy metal, I'd love this

Scale: 1: Dissapointing 2: Didn't enjoy 3: Decent 4: Enjoyed 5: Would listen again (My first impression if not mentioned otherwise in a comment) Blackened: 4/5, dad rock but cool ...And Justice for All: 3/5, way too long and boomer guitar solo Eye of the Beholder: 3.5/5, yeah fine One: 4.5/5 best one so far but boomer guitar solo The Shortest Straw: 2/5, worst one so far Harvester of Sorrow: 4/5, like it The Frayed Ends of Sanity: 3/5 idk To Live Is To Die: 4/5, nice Dyers Eve: 3/5, ok Overall: 3.44/5, really like metallica instrumentals but the vocals are obnoxious af.

I liked this way more than I expected, considering I tend to dislike the bulk of later Metallica albums I've heard. "Frayed Ends of Sanity" and a few others had really cool riffs, with "One" as outlier, standing out as the worst track on the whole thing.

Having never listened to Metallica before I didn’t know what to expect but I actually really enjoyed listening to this 3.7/5

This is a repeat album for me. Extremely cool guitar riffs, some interesting lyrics, but off-putting vocals imo.

95 / 1069 Another album I really should have heard before now. I’d heard about half the songs but not the whole thing. Where is the bass? Such an oddly produced album, had to try a couple of different headphones as I thought something was wrong. I then read up and understand now, but it certainly takes it down a notch.

2/9, 22%

I can see where this would be appealing in 1988. Something completely different than 80s hair bands and a little heavier. I've never been a super big fan of Metallica but I 100% see how loyal their fans are and it's because of this sound. Just a 3 for me though

Samey Great guitar riffs No gems

Lars sucks. Kill ‘em all is the only Metallica album that’s better than mediocre. I’d listen again but it’s nothing special.

this is definitely a metal album

This album would be great for a workout. For the most part, all of the songs blend together to me. Not a bad thing necessarily, but it’s hard to feel excited about this album when every song feels exactly like every other Metallica song. Favorite track - One Least favorite track - The Frayed End of Sanity

👍🏼

It's amazing to me how this album never seems to draw me in. So much happening, but it never clicks. Could be because many of the songs sound similar to me. Could be the COMPLETE LACK OF BASS. Whatever it is, I've never been big on this album. "One" is a really cool song (particularly the end part), but most of the rest just sounds like the same song over and over. Giving it a 3 because I don't mind hearing it, but never feel an urge to seek it out. Maybe I'd consider a 4, but have to remove at least a star since they removed the bass.

Totally biased - 1st record I bought 4 myself. The threshold to later post rock passion although metal heads seem to hate this.

I usually don't love thrash but I haven't listened to much and I enjoy Metallica. I liked this album, especially Blackened and One.

wasnt feelin it at all compared to their earlier work, the songs are boring and monotanus, didnt like the guitar tone at all, one is def a standout track though. 5/10

A thrash classic but not one I particularly enjoy and weaker than the other meticallica I've heard. Very hot take but for me metal is a genre improved by modern production and a lot (but definitely not all) of modern metal is a lot more creative than this, although I respect its massive influence in providing a gateway and bringing metal to the mainstream.

Some great solos.

Not my style

Possibly the peak of Metallica coin flip between this and master of puppets.

OK, but none of the hits. And quite over stylised some might say.

Pretty epic and interesting lyrics but just can’t stand the vocals

There's no questioning that Metallica rocks, but their propensity for long instrumental breaks starts feeling self-indulgent pretty quickly. "Dyers Eve" is the *shortest* track at 5:14, and with the exception of "Harvester of Sorrow," the rest of the songs are no shorter than 6:45 (and two songs clock in at just under 9:50). But hey, this album's got "One" on it, which gets my vote for the most depressing music video ever, so yay? Bottom line: this album's good, but I would have enjoyed it more if they'd rocked approximately 1-5 minutes less on each song.

This is obviously a solid metal album, I'm just not a huge metal fan. I can appreciate it but I doubt I'll find myself coming back to this album to listen to it all the way through again. The run time was also pretty lengthy for 9 tracks, which means that the tracks start to get a bit repetitive to a first time listener of the album. Standout Tracks: ...And Justice for All, Eye of the Beholder, One

10th November 2022 Listened while working from home. Out for dinner at Stroud Italian place in the evening. Very loud, politically savvy metal with rushing drums and thrumming bass.

This is so extremely Metallica

This is the FOURTH METALLICA ALBUM ON THIS LIST and listen up, friends, it's the most generic one yet. It's metal for people who don't like metal! Or good music! Or thinking! Or breathing through their nose! I'm not going to give this a one. It's entirely inoffensive, and pretty easy on the ears. I'm also a fan, funnily enough, of the song "one", so that saves this from getting a 2. I'd probably go 2.5 but I'll round up.

As a teenager, this used to be my favourite Metallica album. An underrated gem that goes balls to the wall and works wonders when your exercising. And while it's still a great listen in my 20s, it's their 5th best album. Ride the Lightning should replace Justice on this list. Overall the production tarnishes the quality of ...And Justice For All which limits how often I listen to this. The live at Seattle concert on the deluxe is a highly recommended listen and a better experience as it captures the albums best songs along with needed bass. When it goes hard, it goes hard. Blackened and the title track make a great one-two punch start and showcases how progressive Metallica could be. Dyer's Eve is an electric closer while One is truely one of their best songs. I used to not care for Harvester of Sorrow as a teen, but it has since grown on me along Metallica's other slow heavy tracks like Sad But True. Frayed Ends of Sanity and Shortest Straw on the other hand were ones I used to hail as underrated gems, but now can see they were too long for their own good and don't fit well with the bone-dry production. To Live is to Die has it's moments and presents the only space where you can hear bass, but it's definitely not their best instrumental by far. Eye of the Beholder has a great intro but is a pretty week song following its first verse. To summarise, a powerful album but its production, lack of bass and a few songs needing editing makes it flawed.

Some cool riffs but overall not really my cup of tea. They call it ..and justice for all and probably should start with justice for bass since the bass guitar doesn't exist and the bass drum is squeezed so much that it sound incredibly tiny

My disposition regarding metal hasn't changed...rarely am I in a mood that I think "Oh, you know what would pair well with this...some metal..." However, on that rare occasion, it is mostly Metallica that I turn to, and this album does contain one track that has always drawn me in. That track in One. Other than that, it sounds much like other Metallica to me. So, I have no appreciation for what about this album is something I must listen to that others didn't already provide me. But now I have and I am all the better for it?

I found this hard to get through and skipped to other Metallica songs on other albums. Not sure what was revolutionary about this - they have 4 albums on this chart which makes me wonder what genres they all fall into. Maybe I need to spend more time with this on repeat mode?

Some classic Metallica songs but really lack any low end

Depending on who you ask, this is Metallica's last great album. This also happens to be the first Metallica album without founding bassist Cliff Burton, after his untimely death in 1986. By all accounts, ...And Justice For All spells out Metallica's transition away from their thrash roots into simply heavy metal. Compared to their previous albums, I can certainly start to hear the band slip a bit in terms of quality. While still similar to Master of Puppets in terms of overall sound, the songwriting here just isn't as good. Where it's good, though, it's phenomenal. Blackened proves that they've still go an ear for good thrash. One is easily the standout track though, with a slow and tender start that leads into headbanger that kicks ass. Perhaps one of their best songs that demonstrates Metallica's ability for range while still playing into their strengths for speed and catchy riffs. I dread discussing the mix but it warrants some mention. After Burton's death, a new bassist was brought in to fill some big shoes. Jason Newsted took the mantle, and while his contributions are appreciated, he is barely heard in this mix. The lower end is mostly dominated by Hetfield's chunky riffs, which leaves little room for proper bass tones from an actual bass guitar. What was once a foundational part of Metallica's sound has been stripped away. The end result is a drier, flatter sound that persists throughout the entire album. While I believe in listening to original album mixes when available, I would also encourage listeners to seek out the bootleg fan remix ...And Justice for Jason. Make your own judgements about the bass mix, see what you think. Regardless, a mix cannot always make the songs better. ...And Justice For All is a great album that is marred by unmemorable songs, bringing the whole experience down for me as a result. Unfortunately this marks a decline in Metallica's discography, making it all the more disappointing as we lose the consistent level of quality found on the first three albums. Metal was never the same after that.

Starts aggressive and urgent and doesn't really shift gears for an hour. Whether that's good or bad depends on the person and the day. Favorites Blackened and of course One. Honorable mention: The Frayed Ends of Sanity.

“One” is the bomb, and the rest is good.

Who isn’t at least a little bit familiar with Metallica? My familiarity mostly comes from a mix of Guitar Hero, and local bands covering Master Of Puppets when I was still a youngling. Song I already knew: One, Harvester Of Sorrow Favourites after listening: One, Eye Of The Beholder This started off pretty strong. I don’t think I was ever going to love it because it’s just not my kind of music, but I was enjoying the first half of the album. However, as it went on there seemed to be a lot of… well, nothing. Just chugging away on guitars with solos that didn’t really serve any purpose aside from “hey guy, look at how good I am.” Also, as much as I enjoyed Eye Of The Beholder, it is hard not to laugh at how James Hetfield sings. “Freedom of choice is made for you, my frienDAH!!” It’s kinda unintentionally funny for most of the album.

...and justice for Jason. This album sounds bad. I feel asleep on the bus listening to it.

What is there to say? Even as someone who vaguely enjoys Metallica, I would've never sat down and listened to this front to back but happy I did.

I like it - I couldn't listen to it for too long in one sitting, especially as the songs are all quite long, but it's hard rocking, and some good riffs in there.

Not my favorite album honestly closer to a 2.5 but that’s my subjective opinion. I know nothing about art

This was a solid entry into the annals of metal, but certainly not Metallica's best. In-between Master of Puppets and Metallica, Justice for All feels like it falls a bit flat. Hetfield's vocals feel washed out, the guitar riffs don't quite speak to me, and the bass was not very present, but the theme of the album shines through strongly and the lyrics paint a vivid picture of corruption and injustice.

Heard one, heard them all. No bass line left me feeling there was no soul in the music.

Okay album

Heavy but thoroughly enjoyable - the longers songs I would likely have skipped

I dunno, if you're going to go all in for power to the point where you completely forgo melody, you really oughta make sure your drums don't sound like *that*, and the bass guitar should do something other than be in complete lockstep with the rhythm guitar. Can you even tell it's there? What's left are chunky as hell guitars, some nice solos, some cool tempo and timing changes, and some very self-serious vocals. The songs are so long that I find myself liking parts of songs, but no individual song as a whole. I love the solo in the title track for example, but thats like 7 minutes into the song, and when it goes away, it's replaced by some sparse drums that, even if they sounded good, just don't do enough to take center stage, and are a pointless part of a song pushing 10 minutes. I reckon I could enjoy a Metallica album. The chunky riffs, the attempt at oppressive atmosphere, the unreasonable song lengths, and the self-seriousness that's constantly has you second guessing as to whether its parody or not. This album doesn't get there for me though.

Outside of a few big mainstream songs or hearing them at house parties, I've never sat down and listened to Metallica. There is a lot of awesome guitar and bass and some very nice passages and sections that I listened to a few times, but I just didn't enjoy much outside of that. The vocals don't do anything for me and often I was waiting for them to stop. I really didn't like the mixing of the drums, very sterile and thin, almost like a drum machine. I actually thought it was a drum machine, until reading up on the production of the album.

I don’t see why I needed to listen to this before I died. I can appreciate hard rock / metal / whatever you want to define this album as. But I felt like it all kind of blended together and was just ok. Not bad music, that’s for sure. But nothing really struck me about it.

Long break, catching up.

Listened to on 8/10/22 3/5 Favorite song: Blackened 9 minutes is too long for a song where I’m just getting yelled at - none of their hits were on this album

loud and relentless, but that's on brand

Enjoyed it more than I expected. A few songs really slap and have a nice groove to them. 5/10

When I first picked up the guitar, I didn't know anything about technique. Early on I stumbled my way into palm muting and said to myself, "that's the Metallica chug-chug thing!" The riffs on this album have a harmony and beauty that isn't found as much on The Black Album. The production hides the lyrics a little better on this release, too, which is an overall benefit. (For what it's worth, I listened to the remastered version.)

Pretty classic heavy metal, good drums and guitar but I always find it hard to fully get into enjoying Metallica.

My least favourite Metallica album, due to the awful, awful mix. Fave track - "One". Mainly for having seen them do it live a bunch of times...

I can appreciate the lyrics, the message, and the anger in these songs. My personal preference is just different from what Metallica and the metal genre as a whole is selling. Also, I believe that this is a feature of metal, but I cannot get behind multiple songs being close to 10 minutes in length.

Highlights: Blackened, One. Not my favorite Metallica album, but not bad by any stretch.

A good classic metal album. This one seems to have pretty consistent guitar riffs besides a couple songs. One is a fantastic song that makes this album a bit better. A majority of songs suffer from not being too much different. The 9 minute instrumental song isn’t bad but is weirdly placed at the penultimate song. This album is good but isn’t as good as their self titled album. 7.5/10

Metallica at their youthful, angry, energetic best. But as others have said this album could definitely use a remaster/re-mix. Guitars have the signature Metallica sound, but the drums are so flat and the bass is m.i.a.

First half is solid, especially since the remaster. The second half gets to be pretty boring.

Guitarists are so fragile. It was criminal when they mixed Cliff almost completely out of Master of Puppets. Who did the production for this album? Oh Metallica did. It sounds like sticking your head in a cardboard box. Thin and trebly. It deserves a new remix with some actual bass in it. Insecure little guitarists.

I like the songwriting on this album. ...but the mix is unforgivably terrible. Lars disgracefully turned the bass down to zero to get a specific drum sound. But it was a lose-lose, because the drums sound extremely terrible too; they sound so flat and lack oomph. It's such a shame. It perhaps could've been their best album otherwise. There's just so much good metal out there besides Metallica that I don't bother with this album much. Also it's hilarious how much fans seethe that Jethro Tull beat this album for a Grammy in '89

Alright

1988 kind of rocked from what I'm seeing as these albums keep coming. This is quintessential Metallica. Clearly they have lasted the test of time, but Lars and James are lights out on this, especially Lars. This was when they were probably wasted out of their minds though. One is a great track! If you love thrash metal and this genre, this is a 5/5. I, however, do not. That being said, this is as good as it gets to me, and so I"ll give it a 3.

One of those albums I can appreciate even if I don't really like it. This is definitely an album, and maybe just a band, for someone other than me, and thats okay. It wasn't hard to get through, but I didn't really like the lead singer's voice or the instrumentals. Still okay though.

Pretty sure I listened to this a while ago off my own bat and was surprised at how mellow it actually is compared to my teenage perception of angst fuelled rage driven guitar noise. Although it's far from a chillout album, it all just seems so much tamer nowadays.

Not my type of music, but One is an absolute BANGER. 6.5/10.

Not familiar with this one, more familiar with Master of Puppets because that's what some of my older friends were listening to when I was in middle school. I have trouble taking this music seriously, it's mainly the vocal delivery and the extravagant guitar solos.

I can definitely see why Metallica has a mass appeal beyond a strictly metalhead audience. They are at once the epitome of metal and yet they sort of transcend the genre in many ways. Although I ultimately find this album fairly exhausting, I definitely have a newfound respect for this output from their prime.

First thing I noticed is that the mix feels a bit sterile, like it was either over-engineered to be cleaner or wasn't engineered enough, not sure. I think the only song I like is "One". And it's just okay for me. It's just not my type of metal.

Basically an above-average heavier album from Metallica. Noticeable are the half-hearted riffs, the martial rhythms that repeat themselves ad nauseam. (5/10) FT: One

Kirk Hammett is amazing. One of my favorite guitarist to listen to. Don't love Mettalica as a whole but love that guitar.

Du métal, du vrai…Mais décidément je n’y adhère pas.

I dig it

I have listened to this album dozens of times and recently sold the CD I bought when I was maybe 14 so I thought it was funny I came across it now. I think I liked it better then. Overall solid metal title “Blackened” and “One” are my favorite tracks

It's not my music style.

Ok. I was pretty brutal to Metallica in a previous review, I think. So, clean slate guys. Slay me... The intro to the first song with the overlapping eBow guitars is a great way to lead into the pummeling. Love the guitars. Vocals are perfect for the music. Fuck Lars. Isn't that where 80% of people end up with Metallica? Haha. I don't talk a lot about cover art in these reviews, but it should be noted on this record. This album art hangs with some of Iron Maiden's finest, IMHO. And, that is to say, if you buy what's being sold, it's some great shit. But if you step back and squint your eyes, it also looks like something from "This is Spinal Tap." Both wins. So, I like this much better than the Black album. But it still has some Metallica hang-ups.

Not the best of the tallica

Technical ability 10/10 but wasn't for me. One is an obvious massive tune though.

First time I've listened to this specific Metallica one. Not bad but not really sure why it is on the list.

Not bad, but way too long.

1st album on this site. 1st time for Metallica. 1st heavy metal anything. Words & stories matter. I was surprised by To Live is to Die & how Cliff Burton influenced this album.

Was kinda waiting for it to be over by the end but I did enjoy most of it. One is a good track

Started but forgot to come back and finish 🤷🏻‍♀️ It's Metallica.

Not a fan of the band but some decent tracks..... needs more bass though

While I enjoyed this one about as much as the Norah Jones one (meaning not very much), I give it one extra star because there is one song that I genuinely enjoy on this album (ironically, the track called "One"). It'd be more of a 2 and a half if that was possible here. A lot of the songs just felt really similar to one another, and on top of that the songs are long with not much variety. Got nothing against long songs, Tool is fucking sick, but their songs have like a build up and a purpose, where a lot of these tracks just felt like "metal because it's cool" if that makes any sense.

I didn't like it all that much but the first one was fun. Didn't feel loud? Even though the whole vibe seems like it's gonna be.

This album has potential but the production and sound quality was poor. It needs to be remastered or something.

Appealing album for me even though the most metal band I regularly listen to is King Giz. It didn't have anything too memorable though so I doubt I'll listen to it again

Just not really for me

Genre-defining for me. I like the cleaner sound

The complexity of the composition is astounding, I don't know enough about the band to understand who the genius is, but it's clear that their music is akin to classical music in its form if not its aesthetic. I personally couldn't find a way in, as my own proclivity for synthesis between word and music was not fulfilled and left me wondering if it would have been a better album if it was instrumental (I'm sure that's sacrilege for Metallica fans, so that's why I've said it )

Overall good. Production and instrumentation excellent. Personal Opinion: A bit heavy Relisten? Yes

One is a tune. Rest of it is fine but never really hits the same heights.

It's Metallica, played on every continent and a solid album. Still like MoP better.

First of all, I can't believe I listened to a whole Metallica album! Though there are some fine songs on this album and I can understand the appeal of the band to their fans, I wished it would ended sooner as it became quite monotonous and repetitious. They take themselves far too seriously and for a band (more specifically, Lars) that tried to shut down Napster and file sharing, lighten up! Blah!

Not really my genre of music but its still very good for what it is. One and ...And Justice for All are the best songs.

I haven't listened to this one since I decided Metallica were greedy posers for wanting money from Napster. Times change. Here's what doesn't - Metallica still sounds silly to me, lyrically, but goddam these boys got some riffs.

Pretty good. Simpsons' stone cutters' theme on this.

A little better than the other Metallica albums but still very much not my thing

Not my usual taste, but quite enjoyed it. 3.5 / 5

Oh, starting with AJFA. I always thought that Lars' drum parts were very awkward, albeit technical. Oh, also, #releasethenewstedcut

Despite metal really not being my cup of tea, I did think this was a pretty good album. I found some of the songs really hard to take seriously, but there were some excellent moments as well. To live is to Die in particular was very good. Closer to a 3.5

I don't think I have realized this before l, but most of Metallica's are so long. Does every song need to be 7 to 9 minutes long? According to me this album did not have any iconic songs.

Good album. I love metal but thrash isn’t my favorite. So I won’t rate Metallica as high as most metalheads.

It was alright. I enjoyed the slower sections in this album, but everything was fine. The main and bass guitars are fantastic; I just wish the drums added a bit more. The vocals do the genre justice, and the songs are oddly long. Favorite track: Harvester of Sorrow

Its definitely metalica

Some greats here.. alot of fluff, I find Metallica take ages to get to meat of song. One is a banger though

Classic stuff. Not my favorite Metallica album but really enjoyed it.

Love a bit of Metallica but this dragged a little for me

obviously a classic band, not my kind of sound, but still pretty solid

Uhm, yeah. I still love most of this album, still bewildered by Harvester Of Sorrow as 1st single. Boring and a sign of the direction for the next album. But Blackened, Shortest Straw, Frayed Ends..., the epic To Live Is To Die. Driven by majestic thrash riffs which I think the production only enhances. The guitars are really fucking massive. No bass, for Shane, we knew that. Then there's the elephant in the room. Or rather the man behind the drum kit, Lars Ulrich. You....are the weakest link! He drags the overall score down on this one. His technical limitations, or basic lack thereof become increasingly obvious as you listen over the years. It took me years to realise that he was never good but on this album it shows. Clunky, stiff drumming that lacks any real groove. That ranted, it doesn't kill my enjoyment of this album when I occasionally listen to it. A lot of it is nostalgic feels but most crucial is the fact that Hetfield writes some fantastic riffs. At least did.

c'etait pas vraiment bien mais passer après Slayer a été très bénéfique

I think this album is too loud.

Felt exactly like Sepultura but better production.

Het genre en de groep kan mij wel smaken, maar dit is zeker niet hun beste album

Metallic met paar roestplekjes op

One' could score top marks on its own really. It is by far the stand out track on this album, the rest trailing behind in its wake. I wonder if it makes the rest of the album sound bad because that track is so superb. I only scored this 3, because I know Metallica do so much better. But still, what a track One is, faultless.

Better than the previously played more mature album. Hard all the way through. But, yet again, too long. Short, sweet and hard would’ve been nice as metal tends to feel repetitive after a few songs.

I not very into old Metallica

It’s good

The frayed ends of sanity kuulosti tässä sessiossa parhaalta biisiltä.

6/10, not a bad metal album but it ended up feeling pretty formulaic and a lot of the songs did not need to be 7+ minutes

I thought some of the songs were too long and repetitive so it wasn't my favorite, but I still liked it.

5/10. I wish Metal albums weren't always so long. This has probably been the most enjoyable one I've listened to so far, but I still don't want to listen to it for over an hour. It just starts to feel so bland. Maybe I just need to listen to it louder?

Pretty cliche. 5

it's a classic, but the genre is so not my thing :(

Demasiado duro jaja

Aunque tiene algunos temas o partes muy buenos, se hace demasiado largo y machacon
