Reviews (page 6 of 7)
i mean, i dont think this album is deserving of a one. I kinda like some parts of it... but mostly it just isn't my cup of tea. But overall, tracks are too long and not a huge fan of the scratchy guitar solos. It's fine for a few seconds here and there (think Rage Against the Machine), but overall the album just kinda pushes me away. I do really like the track Hand over Fist, but the rest of the album I could probably give a miss as a listen through. Give me segments of it and well, we're good.
I actually really liked it for what it was. I don’t think it’s to the level of what an average album on this list should be though. I think the guitar riffs are really the highlight of this album for me. The singing is part of the mood, but I couldn’t tell you a single lyric. I feel like this is the kind of album that you would play all the way through working at a chop shop. Idk I kinda like it.
It’s a shame these guys didn’t stick around for much longer after this album, I can definitely see the influence they would have had on bands that would get their start shortly after this release. My only issues are that it’s lengthy and not too many of the songs grab your attention and draw you in. Gonna go with a two because I just don’t think I’ll be listening to this one again anytime soon.
I know of this band, but I they never made it into my rotation. I could go down the post-hardcore/punk/emo genre for days, but this band never hit the spot for me; as there are so many other offerings that outshine these guys. Fugazi, Jawbox, Husker Du, Jawbreaker, Texas is the Reason, Sunny Day Real Estate - I could go on and on.
Ännu ett märkligt val av platta.
Album 558 of 1001 Drive Like Jehu. - Yank Crime (1994) Rating : 2 / 5 I like some punk, though I go more for the 70s era. This is mostly noise, in my opinion. A couple of bright spots but overall just meh.
Weird album to appear on the list. I know so many better hardcore bands from early 90s, what is so special about this one? All I can hear is that it's a very grounbreaking and influential band, but I just don't hear it. Pretty disappointing and boring record, not my style.
Thought I was going to like it but it just fell flat for me.
yeah it’s gonna be a no from me dawg…on the first track when he’s screaming “rome plows” i really thought he was saying “bob ross” so that was fun for a minute. but then i didn’t really like anything else
The birth of long-drawn out emo-core was not something that I connected with or enjoyed. Didn't detest it, so 2/5.
Very long songs, not super enjoyable, but ok. Not something I needed before dying.
Favourite song - Bullet train to vegas
Sorry. No time for this. Just noise. Maybe wasn't in the mood.
Not my style.
these albums are all starting to feel the same !
Sounds like a crappy cheap copy of Jane’s Addiction.
Still need to read the description. Didn’t love
This was a pretty hectic listen. Kind of reminded me of Nirvana without Kurt.
Noisy music is weird, some groups pull it off but others don't really hold much interest. This is a bit more of the latter. I didn't really like it.
Just fucking noise.
Post-punk.
Too much noise
Couldn’t handle the screaming vocals.
Liked some tracks but it wasn’t bedtime listening really.
Fine, I’ll say it, this is too raw and “punk” for me
keep driving middle of the road 5/10 but not good enough for 3*
One of the things I appreciate about Fugazi is they kept their music to a reasonable length. There was no reason for a 9 minute song - they got their vision out in 4 minutes. Drive Like Jehu makes the mistake of thinking they could maintain my attention for over an hour with 12 songs. I do like the genre but this is a real slog to get through.
I know this is supposedly an import album in the evolution of hardcore punk to emo, but it didn't do much for me. Sounded more like Nirvana outtakes. Certainly not what you would think of as emo. 2/5
Some very cool instrumental parts in several songs, but as a whole it lacks good songs, and the vocals annoys me more than it pleases me. At the Drive-In took this formula and sound, and added what lacks here, which makes this record important in an evolutionary sense, but this is not a record id want to listen to again.
I understand this is possibly the best hardcore album ever. But for the uninitiated, listening to it sucks.
Didn't know about "emo" music as a genre before this. The album started off well with two good songs and it kind off fell off from there. Favorite track: Do you compute other picks: here come the rome plows Glossary: emo - emotional hardcore
Track selection is very important when putting together an album. I may have liked this one a little more (meaning, at all) if it had been 20 to 30 minutes shorter. I can understand hard-core as a genre a little bit. But an hour of screaming, mumbling, and “grump singing“ is just a bit too much for me.
I think I might like country music as a genre better than this. I'm sure this is fine but it is not my cup of tea. I made it to track 8, "Human Interest". Anyway, I'll pass on the rest. No judgement here. This is just not for me.
Post-punk.
Fun to listen to for a while but wore out its welcome for me. If we can call this garage emo rock or punk, it doesn't hold much I'm interested in. I'll listen to a wall of noise from time to time, mostly in metal, but not this kind. Not interested in the screaming vocals, the grating feedback, the repetitive song design. Rome Plows was fun (had the benefit of being the first song). Luau and Super Unison were a 1-2 punch of 'okay I'm done with this album' for me. But I did listen through it.
This felt raw, not to mention a little whiny. Dude is clearly ANGRY about something. I wasn't able to tell what exactly from the lyrics. The bass has a nice Johnny Cash twang. That's the best I can offer I'm afraid. It fizzles out in to guitar wank.
2,5
Gosh, liked the bass tone but didn't love the songs.
Rock but, too much emo influence.
Wondering if there’s some sort of glitch with this exercise and albums from the 3003 albums are popping up. Not a big fan of the San Diego music scene but everyone needs to start somewhere. Album sounds a bit like one loooong repetitive song.
Yankee Crime Never heard of Drive Like Jehu. It reminds me of when I tried to like At the Drive In, and pretended for a bit that I did. Struggling to find much to say. It is what is and is fine for this type of music. Some nice guitar parts, some good moments and grooves. I liked Sinews. Can kind of hear a bit of surf music in there, and some good rhythmic moments, but it is ultimately quite formulaic 90s slightly moany very American sounding alternative/punk. Only listened once, I couldn’t really see what I’d get out of further listens. It’s not terrible but it’s not particularly interesting or different enough to feel like making more of an effort with it 🤷 ⭐️⭐️
As someone who came of age in the early 00’s and never really understood why so many people were into “emo” music like Dashboard Confessional and Taking Back Sunday, this album brought back a lot of those same feelings. I felt like Steve Carrell’s character in Anchorman for a lot of this album: LOUD NOISES!!!! I’m into vocalists that many people consider unpleasant to listen to — Robert Smith, Billy Corgan, John Lydon in PiL, etc. I’m also into experimental rock that a lot of people find unpleasant, like the aforementioned PiL. This music combines all the worst parts of that music — discordance, aggression, atonality — with none of the redeeming qualities — deep lyrics, unique social commentary, vulnerability, introspection about one’s shortcomings. It’s just a lot of shrill yelling of very surface level and trite ideas, combined with a lot of aggressive music that sounds like the band doesn’t always know how to play their instruments. I feel like this kind of music is the soundtrack for a very particular kind of person — lower middle class cishet white guy who’s very angry about everything but isn’t sure why. He’s read a Wikipedia article (or whatever predated it in the early 90s) on libertarianism and has decided to make it his whole personality. He’s emotionally constipated and doesn’t understand why most girls don’t like him (when he brings nothing to the table), and he uses gay as an insult with his friends. He enjoys mosh pits as a way to get out his anger, because some men will do literally anything except go to therapy. The first half of the album is pretty unbearable. After Luau it gets a bit better, but I still wouldn’t really choose to listen to this. It’s like punk music, but make every track over 7 minutes long. No. The human body is not meant to have that much cortisol coursing through it for that long. Super Unison isn’t bad once you get past the obnoxious emergency broadcast intro sound (why does it need to be 7 minutes long?) New Intro is kind of cool — sounds like it could be a Tool song (I don’t think they’re that good musicians though). I found myself thinking that a lot while listening to the album — "This kind of sounds like Smashing Pumpkins but not as good," "This kind of sounds like Tool but not as good," "This kind of sounds like Pink Floyd, but not as good." I'll give it a 2/5 because there are a couple tracks I didn't find completely unbearable. But I kind of feel bad about giving Slayer a 1 and rating this higher.
Enjoyed the music a lot at times, I was really vibing out!! The screaming and screeching really harshed my buzz and made my dogs upset ☹️
Bad. Bad. Bad Offensive guitar screeches and noises that didn't sound good together. And then a random 10 seconds of good riffs and back to noise 2 ⭐️
I understand what it’s going for but i think I really have to be in a mood for this genre. Songs felt too long and blended for me at points especially since the singing mainly stays in the same exact range. I couldn’t understand anything lyrically. The album improved for me at the second half. My standout was Super Unison. Cover Art is decent.
Post-hardcore does it for some.
Loud and shouty. Reminds of Dinosaur Jnr or similar.
\"Yank Crime\" by Drive Like Jehu is an album that showcases the band's unique blend of post-hardcore and noise rock. Released in 1994, the album features intense and complex compositions, with angular guitar riffs, frenetic drumming, and raw, emotive vocals. While \"Yank Crime\" is often praised for its innovation and influence on the post-hardcore genre, it can also be a challenging listen. The album's abrasive sound and lack of conventional song structures may alienate some listeners looking for more accessible music. Overall, \"Yank Crime\" is a polarizing album that will likely appeal to fans of experimental and avant-garde rock music but may not resonate with a wider audience. As such, it receives a rating of 2 out of 5.
Not great
Not for me
don’t like the guys voice
Why are so many albums on this list with yelling instead of singing? Who likes this shit?
i like punk but that was crazy for a study day.
No. I will not drive like Jehu
Not for me man. This was just noise with some 90's alternative trickled throughout
0815 punk.
This was our second post hardcore of the week, and not the better one. Lots of "noise" and not much to gain your attention. Seemed sloppy and loud, and that's about it.
Sounds like skater punk met grunge in an alley and nobody won the fight. It’s not bad, but not good either.
Bit screamy for my tastes.
just not really my thing. maybe deserves a low 3 but i’m sticking with a high 2
Total Yank
Good for someone, just not me
Kuitenkin ihan kuunneltavissa.
When it’s not screeching in my ear or playing an air raid siren it has some alright moments. 3/10
I do not like this. 2/5
Not for me.
Didn't get much out of this one.
"C'est gueuler pour gueuler" -Tom
In a nutshell: killswitch disengage Can hear the California punk influence, but that's about it. Where are the "punch in the guts" moments users are referring to? The songs are unnecessarily long and don’t lure me in. I reckon Yank Crime might win over fans of post-punk/post-hardcore, so I'll give it that. Overall: 3/10
I can appreciate what these guys are doing, but it is not for me
Dreary, dirgy, shouty, discordant and dull. Couldn't be bothered to make it to the end of this album
3 stars for the arrangements, 1 star for the singing.
Almost good, but never fully got there
Feeling off today so that may affect my rating.
Ok punk music, very repetitive though.
Noisy
It turns out I like post-punk more than punk, but I still can't say I'm crazy about this. There were moments in this I enjoyed, and also moments I didn't.
There was nothing great about this album…
Only made it two songs. Might've enjoyed it at a younger age, now it sort of gave me a headache. Not for me.
This is exactly what I would imagine garage punk to sound like. It thrashes, it’s loud, it doesn’t make much sense. Overall this just felt like what every person was trying to do in the 90s and came up short of being nirvana. Overall I wouldn’t revisit this but it’s better than some albums on this list. 4.1/10
It says the band toured for the album and then quietly disbanded. I wonder if that's because they heard their music. I'm also seeing a note that this album was credited as starting a music scene in San Diego. I wonder if we will then get albums that kick started music in other towns. That would be a cool separate list. But for this list, I had a lot of skips and irritations whether it was a continuous guitar pick or some distortion sound. My ears were not a fan.
Bunch of frantic racket to me
Wasn’t big on this as this is a genre I don’t really enjoy.
Blegh, better than other similar albums I've heard but not by much. Just a lot of noise, can't get used to it.
Painful clanking with occasional respites. Other than that ok.
Lots of energy, not much on the musical side. Punk can (and usually does) do better. 1.5/5
I can see there is art and effort in there, but it's too much like noise for me to truly enjoy it.
I love some punk. But this ain't it. Too whiny, even for my taste.
I got quite bored of this before the end and thought that the guys voice was a bit grating
Not a fan.
Definitively metally
Listened Before? Y Somehow I have heard this obscure thing before! Millennial punks love this one. I'm not a huge fan. It would have been an awesome hardcore album but they repeatedly break one of the golden rules of hardcore- their songs are WAY TOO LONG. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Here Come the Rome Plows
Not for me
Niet mijn vibe echt qua punk
I admire this, but I don’t like it. Heavy raw wild intense. But not my scene.
That was a lot for this early in the morning but it wasn’t the worst album I’ve listened to on here. In the words of Taylor Swift, “damn, it’s 7 am”. I think whoever compiled this list of albums had a bias towards punk rock
This was decent. Not great and it wouldn't be my first choice but I can see it's appeal.
Turns out there's a limit to the amount of screaming I can take, and this album exceeded that limit. 1.5.
I hope I am presented with a decent and interesting album soon.
no. definitely not my vibe today, or most days for that fact.
Meh. Not the best or worst I've ever heard. I love punk, so it's not a genre thing....I just can't even remember any of the songs I've just heard.
Meh, punk is not really my jam. 🤟🏼
Teenage angst
Wank Crime
It is a raw album. It's that logical next step when you mix punk and grunge to create the bases for emo. So I can understand it's significance. With that being said - the songs are way too long for the genre and the instrumental parts are often repetitive and don't accomplish much.
So, this may well be a marvelous example of its genre, but personally I don’t ever enjoy being screamed at unintelligibly for an hour. My favorite part was thinking that he was screaming “raw clams!” for the first six minutes.
I listened to this after watching the 2 hour 50 minutes Taylor Swift Eras movie, which was not particularly compatible with this album. So I am pretty sure this was not optimal timing. I didn’t enjoy this much…
It's really good musically, the vocals just kill it for me.
A poor man's At the Drive In
Too messy, i like punk but as I get older its harder..
Nah, just nothing that's being offered here
Cover art is apt. This album is equivalent to a glue sniffing high - not very fun, but it's there.
Not really my style at all, sound is all over the place. The songs feels as if they drag on for too long.
Sinänsä tykkään soundista, mutta tunti tätä on raskasta kuunneltavaa (toki ihan tarkoituksella, mutta onko silti vähän liikaa). Tinnitus ei tykkää
31st July 2023 Listened throughout the day while working from home. Barbie with Seb at Tivoli in the evening. No thanks. Can see links with bands like My Chemical Romance but not my bag.
Hardcore. Disonante
Nothing really stands out for me on this but I do quite enjoy some of the riffs.
Decent, could've been amazing if it wasn't distractingly loud and occasionally overlong.
If you like all of the screaming of Nirvana but none of the catchy tunes, then this one’s for you!
Terrible. Fast, frantic, shouty punk.
So long
Post rock bs
This album opened as a 1 for me but then managed to claw its way up to maybe a mid 2. At first it was the typical annoying hardcore bullshit and luau was probably the worst of this but then super unison and new union actually broke up the unrelenting noise for a bit and it was actually alright. Overall it still made me physically uncomfortable by the end like these overlong hardcore albums do but it at least doesn’t deserve a 1. Also the Spotify artist banner of this band is the most white suburban dad “getting some buddies together to mess around on guitar” core I’ve ever seen.
Pfft iets teveel en te lang
I was sure I was going to hate this from basically the first note, but then it grew on me a little. It's a decent thrash-punk-metal album, but I'm not sure there is anything special about it. Seems like a flash-in-a-pan band made a flash-in-the-pan album. Enjoyable - but, did I have to hear it before I died? No.
oooh I didn’t like this all that much. It was tooooo much and That’s all I can say. Too long too. Just not my type anyway whatsoever.
Litt for bråkete for min smak.
Bråkete
Shame this wasn’t an instrumental record.
Loud
I was listening to this album as I was doing housework and then had to put in on pause when I got a phone call... and never started listening to it again, nor do I have a desire to do so. With other albums I didn't like I could at least put them on in the background and not be too bothered, but I'm pretty sure this one elevated my blood pressure. There were a couple of instrumental sections that weren't bad so I'll give it credit there. 1.5/5, rounded up to 2.
Not my favorite punk music, but not as bad as I originally thought. A few of the songs were just too much, but I enjoyed the two slower ones (New Intro and Sinews). The rest of it was pretty average to me. Not something I would go out of my way to listen to. Nothing added to list. 4/10
Little too experimental, not for me
Damn, this is intense. I can take a song or two, and I appreciate the commitment to a sound, but damn - hard to take almost an hour of it (more than an hour with the bonus tracks, which I didn't realize were bonus tracks right away). Not totally convinced this belongs on the list, as the second and final album from a band that disbanded shortly after, and who has ever heard of them?
The first 20 seconds of 'Super Unison' had me thinking my headphones were broken
actively disliked several songs but the rest was aight
Hate to say it, but it really was just some noise. A tad better than garage rock, but they all sounded the same. You could pick one song off the album and claim to have heard them all. Not to say that that one song is bad. It’s a pretty good album to just put on and forget about while working or exercising or something. 2/5
Very impressively played, to maintain that level of intensity is super hard. But too aggressive and shouty for these sucker-for-a-melody ears.
Ok
Abrasive and discordant. Fits the decade it was recorded in, but it’s not for everyone.
Okay
2/5. It’s an okay punk album. Some good guitar work but not super engaging. The long songs do drag on and the short ones don’t feel distinct enough.
I couldn’t get through all of this but what I did hear wasn’t working for me.
Pretty brutal, but not as bad as I was expecting. I think the fact that the songs aren't all in the one minute range is a big plus for me.
Horrible singing, songs just go on and on and on. Not really impressed and sounds too much like a cheap garage band. 4/10.
Very punky. Harsh guitar and vocals
Not a fan of this one.
wasn’t a fan sorry
This wasn’t fun.
it was just OK, wouldn't really seek out to listen again but got through the whole album.
Fine noise. Not my thing though.
Headache-core. 4/10
Never heard of them before. It's very loud, aggressive, and frustrating to listen to at times. However there were a couple tracks on here that I think may have some potential. I'm going to give this a second listen through and see if those songs can salvage my overall opinion of this, which isn't very high.
too much noise and screaming. The shorter songs were fine
Nope
The bad outweighs the good here. I wish I could edit the songs, cause there's some good stuff. But Jesus. Stop saying the same things, you idiot. And quit with the screeching noises.
Maybe I’m getting old. This was just noise.
What an odd name for a band, for an album, featuring straightforward but yet inexplicable album art. So, no idea what to expect. Ah, noise. I like some of what's going on guitar-wise. But I'm finding it too relentless. Favorite: Bullet Train to Vegas. Also "Luau" is a fun word, isn't it?
Soou como um hardcore altamente afetado
Kiinnostava tyyli, mutta ei ihan tempaissut. En tosin ehtinyt lyriikoita kuuntelemaan, eli vähän ohut arvio.
Punk! And annoying!
2.5/5 Some songs on the album we’re okay even though they were very long. It’s not bad just not completely my thing.
Pinky, nothing special
Did not move me
No thank you.
2/5. Noise....
Robert tu es un homme mort.
very heavy. good distorted guitars, raw vocals. solid bass that grounds otherwise chaotic arrangements - reminds me of duff mckagan. very noisy and grating, i am sure it would really appeal to someone who enjoys that sorta stuff. made me want to listen to appetite for destruction (which i immediately did after finishing this project)
Some nice sounds but not enough
Too discordant for me.
I enjoy the musical side of this album. I'm not the biggest fan of the vocals but it isn't too bad and is very fitting for the genre. My biggest gripe with this is the length of the songs. 2 songs over 9 minutes and another two over 7 is a bit much. Just gets stale after a little. I really like the first 4 and a half minutes on Luau but after that there were still 5 more minutes to suffer through. Sinews however I think does justify the length.
Some nice stripped back bass tracks near the end, but too much noise overall
Musically, they had some decent stuff but I wasn’t a fan of the vocals and many of their songs just sounded like noise.
I recognize it takes talent to scream in key but I also don’t enjoy listening to it.
-1.5 ⭐️ for Rick Froberg’s vocals. I’m sorry Rick because I think people who are fans of the music and the band like your style of vocal. The vocals just ruin this album for me, which is disappointing because I do like the music quite a bit.
"Tremendo impacto en la conversión del hardcore punk en emo". Pues vale. No digo que sea un disco malo, pero me parece monótono tanto en la música como en las letras. Algunas veces el cantante me recuerda al de "At drive-in" y por eso se va a salvar y le voy a dar 2 estrellas. Sinceramente, este disco no es imprescindible solo me gustó "Hand over fist".
Forgettable
This album had interesting points but it felt kind of drawn out. Couldn’t finish. 3/10.
Pretty dissonant. Maybe I would like it more if I had more attention to put into it, but not good for working while listening
Loud angry noise.
Today I learned that this band exists Today I learned that people love this band Today I learned that this is the origins of "emo" music Today I learned that people love "emo" music I am not one of these people. At teams quite creative, but generally quite grating and meandering. Doing something difficult with a guitar, or something that is not easily emulated, does not mean that it is good or elegant.
Music is fine, but ruined by bad vocals and vocal mastering. If you are going to commit to punk style raw vocals, the music has to be equally shitty for it to work. Highlight track: 2
Seems like they are good for their genre but not a fan of this style of music. Hard to judge impartially but I didn't like it.
Noise for noise's sake
i think hardcore punk is not for me
The first song on this kinda rocks, but the rest left me wanting... This is was mediocre rock at best.
This album starts off like a tornado and smacks you in the chops. It’s loud and brash and in your face. It’s thrashy and punky and a little bit screamy. Normally this combination would induce an excited curiosity from myself and these tracks did just that...but that was all. I just can’t find anything worthwhile or standoutish. The songs speed along happily enough, but leave you feeling unsatisfied and with an empty void. 2 Stars!
Meh.
Some nice riffs and stuff, loads of shouting, not digging eniterly doe
Meh
.
Noisy 90s punk. Skillful, but nothing special
Alternativo demais/gritaria demais pra mim
Oof. Right off the bat it's a little more hardcore punk than I prefer. Closer to metal than I'd like. A lot of yelling. Yeah... not for me.
Not my favorite, though I respect their significance w/in the music world.
Def not my cup of tea, although I see where they influenced a lot of hardcore music I used to listen to back in the day.
Good for a punk/emo album, although not my favorite music to listen to. I can appreciate the emotion and composition, but don't think I'd be seeking out this to listen to. Highlights: -New Intro
Interesting sounding. Perhaps one of the best in the mathrock or post punk era album I had the "pleasure" to listen on this website.
Eh.
Very punk, very cool, emo dudes
This was absolutely dire. It was too long. The mix was dreadful, making the vocal barely audible - which was probably a blessing as, when it was audible, it was terrible. The sheer amount of feedback startled my dog on more than one occasion. Awful.
They ruined some interesting musical ideas with whiny screaming over everything. It’s bad enough when this shit is 2 minutes long. But the fact that half of the songs are longer than 5 minutes makes this one an awful listen.
That sucked!!!!!!
Chaotic but not in a good way for me 1.8/10
At first it seemed like it was just noise. In the end it seemed like it was just the beginning.
Didn’t finish this. Obviously not in the right mood for it today as I like some similar bands but was just finding this a headache and had better things to listen to.
It's new to me. Never even heard of it. First listen....yup....can see why. Big thumbs up to me 22 years ago for giving this a miss. Awful. Can't see what is unique about this noise to warrant inclusion on the list either. 1
Life is too short to listen to music you don’t like and never will like.
Not feeling this. The screeching and screaming are a no.
Only got through 1:20 of 5:44 - first song. and only 3:09 of 7:12 - second song. It's a no. No I don't have to listen to this.
Ugh. No thanks
I could literally feel my cortisol levels going up. This is what stress and anxiety sound like.
Drive Like Jehu Yank Crime 1* This is an album I should like, post punk, screamed vocals, right up my alley but the production/mixing of the album ruins it for me. The screamed vocals sound like they're coming from the next room. It's like they're trying to make a Fugazi album sound like shoegaze. This album has been disappointing me for 3 decades
chega de barulhoooooo
Terrible. Sounds like something I’d hear at Midwest Music Fest. Loud, long songs, a lot of just instruments playing. I hated it.
Not. Good.
I do not like this at all
offensively loud and annoying. A lot of it just drones on and sounds so similar, it actively put me in a bad mood while listening.
Awful noise but at least it’s long!
One dimensional noise. If you like your punk as an onslaught to the ears then this is for you. Don't think, just bang your head Quite why it's one of the 1001 is a mystery!
Absolutely exhausting. Gave me a headache. I had heard enough noisy thrashy punk halfway through the first track, then the album continued for another hour. Also all the songs are MUCH too long, what business do they have being 7 or 9 minutes? Although to be fair they all blur into one so it's hard to tell where one finishes and the next begins. I am genuinely glad that some people like this though. I love Butthole Surfers, but most people hate them, so I understand.
Ooof no thank you.
Just not my kind of music. Had a headache by the end of the album
I knew from the first three seconds of this album that I wouldn't like it and I was right
No

Absolutely no.
A couple songs that I could take a 2:00 section to use as a Tony Hawk game soundtrack, but really didn’t click at all for me unfortunately.
Woof. Didn't think this was great. Maybe I was predisposed to thinking this would suck, since the note above says that the guitarist found fame with his band Rocket From The Crypt in later years. I had one of their albums earlier on this countdown and it was terrible, so I didn't expect much from this. What bothered me was that a lot of this was repetitive, both in the lyrics and the riffs. If either were good, this could have been tolerable, but neither were. Add in the fact that it was basically the lead singer yelling over a bunch of poorly constructed songs, this leads to where I thought it would, a 1-star album. Just to round this out, I would point people towards early Sponge records, such as Rotting Pinata or Wax Ecstatic which were released in the mid-90s like this record. Listen to the two back-to-back, and you will hear how a band (Sponge) can actually play fast / be loud but actually be melodic and create much better music. This, on the other hand, was abysmal.
Headache inducing noise. Heavily distorted thrashed guitars and screamed nonsense vocals aren't for me.
Got half way through and gave up
Worst album I've ever listened to
Oh fuck off, this shit doesn’t even need to exist let alone be listened to before you die. Complete noise without a shred of talent.
This was more like a zero out of five. But I have to rake it somehow. Just stop screaming already.
Noisy, abrasive, and aggressive, without an ounce of grace. I don't like the style, nor the songs. It overstays his welcome after a few minutes, let alone the whole record. I always feel sorry giving bad scores. It can be art to someone else, I'm sure. But it really doesn't click with me. Sorry Jeho, I don't like your driving style.
Nope! Too shouty / screams.
this album is long and draining (i'm on song 2)
ughh...
terrible garbage
Noise.
wow. No.
No
terrible
yank crime? more like wank crime … it’s a no from me.
Furchtbares Geschrei! Wer hört so was? Ich definitiv nicht!
This generator made me realise I hate punk.
Punk is not for me
Bad. Super repetitive, full of noise rock and grating sounds, and repeats vocals multiple times for no benefit. Honestly a painful listen.
Truly terrible noise much of the time
Surprised to hear this. Shouldn’t have made the cut. Loud and obnoxious
Not good, turned off
FAVO:
Oh, I don't know if I just wasn't in the mood, or it was the album itself, but hoooooooly moly, was this a super annoying album to listen to. Overall, it was a pretty miserable experience, but it could be because I was listening to it while I was working, and it was quite busy, so maybe if you're in a peaceful environment, this would be a lot better, but definitely not more than 2 stars.
Pointless noise.
I couldn't wait for this one to finish. It was really hard to listen to.
Some good riffs but the “singing” is torture. I don’t mind scream singing but the whole album? I think with a skilled frontman this album could have been decent.
This is worse than shit. I think some bits are intentionally there to bust your eardrum just for the wake of it. Dogshit
yeah dude this is just noise. the songs are too long and repetitive. it's intentionally grating, not a fan. maybe in the right headspace? idk not my kind of hardcore
Noise
I tried. I really did. My nervous system said no.
Not my thing.
Not my style, i do NOT enjoy that genre that much, too hardcore for me ig, tho i could say i liked the music-melody or whatever in some songs.
I definitely can't handle hardcore
Here Come The Rome Plows
Yikes
I hope Jehu is a better driver than these guys are musicians, otherwise no one will be safe on the road! This album was a complete waste of my time.
Das ist schon echt schwer zu ertragen
Didn’t even manage one track. Shite
Not for me 1/5
No he entrado en el flow.
Annoying vocals
Just noise, lots of noise
“Do You Compute” with 90 seconds of the same guitar riff. The drone at the beginning of “Super Unison” sounded like an Amber Alert got stuck playing. I wanted to like the emo vibes… but the vocals were lacking and the creative decisions just kept doing me wrong… This album was not for me. It was a slog to listen.
Ei pystynyt kuuntelemaan kokonaan. Ihan hirveää.
Ehhh
No nyt oli paska levy. Miksi kenenkään pitäisi kuunnella tämä? Ihan saatanan pitkiä ja junnaavia biisejä. Super Unisonin kohdalla luulin että kajari hajosi. Oikeastaan ärsyttää että tuhlasin tähän aikaa. Antaisin nolla tähteä jos voisin.
Screaming, check. Chainsaw guitars, check. Full on 100% rhythm section attack mode, check. One minute thirty songs. Absolute uncheck. If the Minutemen had spun their songs out to 7 minutes and DNOTD was 8 hours long it might be a bit like this. Hence one star, and one of my few DNF's
Horrible. Banal grating music and someone should tell the vocalist that singing isn't the same thing as screaming.
Nope, niet voor mij
It made sounds that hurt
Almost unlistenable. Wild that people enjoy this
Definitely did not expect this kind of music for my first album. I don't typically listen to this genre, so I need to get used to it but I get it why people like this but I don't think this is made for me. I can't really tell what they are trying to convey in their music, there is not really a storyline in their songs. Maybe it's just them trying to show their instrumental skills which is very good though, but I miss a structure. It feels too messy for me. Listened to the first song fully, but couldn't make it much further throught the album. I tried to listen to the second and third one and I like the latter the best but I still don't like it enough to add it to my liked songs.
Ugh. This was just noise
1. rome - 0 2. compute - 0 3. golden - 0 4. Luau - 0 5. Super - 0 6. Intro - 1 7. Math - 0 8. Human - 1 9. News - 0 10. hand - 0 11. vegaz - 0 JUZT A BUNCH OF FUCKING NOIZE , HORRIBLE BAND
Trying to catch up so saying very little. Should have smelt a rat when Mr L. said he was looking forward to this one. Bass player could play, but that was not enough to prevent 1.
Hated this!
