Anstrengend und immer wieder gefühlt das gleiche

I liked some of it, it opened very well, but a number of the songs went on too long. And I get the style, but if you don't like the song, the repetition started to wear thin on me. NEXT. Top tracks: "Voodoo People," "Claustrophobic Sting"

I guess I'm not enough of a music nerd to enjoy this one. It's not only the repetitiveness of it all, but also the kind of sounds they used - it was simply annoying. 1,5 stars

This was just ok for me. I was a little bit disappointed because I like the album The Fat of the Land so much, but this album just seems harsher and more repetitive. I understand this album came first and it's historically important, but for me, I'll always choose to listen to The Fat of the Land over this album.

Maybe this would grow on me or be better with the right drugs

I have some time for this genre, broadly speaking, but none of these songs would get my ass on the dance floor then or now. Like Jason Mendoza at a Skrillex concert I'll be waiting for the bass to drop. And it, it'll never come. Too bleepy bloopy.

Kinda listened to this one, garbage

Another 1+ hour long electronica album... Could have been worse, but it's still not really my thing.

Literal garageband music

I don't know enough about this genre to know if this was really all that special of an album, but most of the songs are just too long and became super frustrating and repetitive.

This album was huge at the time, but I never really bought into it. Seemed like a gimmick - scary looking makeup and a permanent scowl seemed so contrived. They did put on a good live show and got the crowds dancing, and can admire their songcraft. Just not my thing.

Largely boring and overly pleased with itself, but "No Good" is an absolute classic.

Too much for me

288/1001

this was ok. kind of boring listening to this rather than dancing to it in a club.

Aldrig varit min grej

Absolutely no sane list, even one with a hefty allotment of 1001, should include two albums by The Prodigy. Will echo what I said of Fat of the Land…it hasn’t aged well. This album even more so. Poison though….

Why this one and not Fat of the Land?

Music for the Jilted Generation - literally music for me. I was literally jilted back in ‘84. Len warned me, he said she was only after the money and fame, of course I didn’t listen! I mean, I should have seen it coming, her name was Jill Tedman! Never mind, lucky escape if you ask me! Found out a few years ago that she ran off with Bob Monkhouse! Apparently it fell apart quite quick. She thought Bob was Des O Connor! He kept up the charade for months. Honestly, that bloke will do anything to get his end away! 2.3

Rave music isn’t my thing.

Was going to rate three stars because I liked some of the songs, and thought this was interesting EDM, but the album art is terrifying

unimpressive

not really into this type of music, but it wasn't terrible

I can see appreciating a song or two if you were a specific kind of high from drugs I haven’t dabbled in. A whole album of it over an hour long even then would probably be a bit much.

The track Full Throttle freaking slaps, and no other tracks (except possibly No Good) come even close. I'm amazed it doesn't have more listens. It's a breath of fresh, turbo-charged air amidst a sea of mundane, repetitive 7-minute tracks. The chromatic two-chord changes, airy synth bass, and almost cinematic atmosphere really drive the music, and the drums are at their most acoustic-sounding. All in all, a solid recipe for decent electronic music. No Good (Start the Dance) fades into the background until I picture a real bass player shredding those lines. It's a lot more entertaining that way. It's also the most exciting of the "hype" tracks, of which there are many. Most of the other tracks are fine, and probably in the better half of 90s electronic output, but they're too long to properly engage with. Sure, put this album on in a club or at a party and nobody will think twice. But nor will anybody call for the DJ to spin "Claustrophobic Sting" or "Speedway (Theme from Fastlane)" another time. There's little to distinguish the individual pieces. This is probably because of lack of instrumental variation, zero balancing between electric and acoustic (or acoustic-adjacent) sounds, almost nothing to show in terms of melody or chord progressions, and rhythms that are fine but a bit indistinguishable from one another. 2/5 Key tracks: Full Throttle, No Good (Start the Dance)

I generally dislike electronic music because it just sounds like a bunch of noises to me. But I especially don’t like it when those noises are unpleasant lol. Also this album is way too long. But kudos for catching me way off guard. With the album art and title, I was bracing for metal music.

Yikes this blows

This album was simultaneously too much and not enough

Good club music?

2 out of 5. Raves in the 90's must have been wild.

Reminds me of the gaming soundtrack of need for speed racing Favorite track: poison other picks: voodoo people, no good

The musical equivalent of strobe lighting. Boringly repetitive but fades into the background so not actively annoying.

Hated it! Maybe good for a movie soundtrack but too repetitive and boring to enjoy listening to!

Idk some songs I jammed out to but some was just pointless noise and it was generally overlong

Like the 3rd electronic album this week. Just not my thing. 2/5 Won’t listen again

Listening to this album (a full hour of industrial techno) in one stint was quite tough. Fond nostalgia from Voodoo People, but didn't care much for the rest of it.

After the sound of glass breaking hit my ear drums for the 50th time I realised this was not for me 2/5

Kind of boring. Sounds stale and dated. This album’s presence on this list is questionable. Although maybe it has cultural significance in the UK I am unaware of that justifies it being here. Or maybe this is the kind of album best experienced in a crowded room at high volume.

No, I’m good. Pretty much the same as all the electronic dance albums. Not my thing.

I thought we were done with electronica.

Intro n/a Break & Enter 2.6 Their Law 3 Full Throttle 2.6 Voodoo People 3 Speedway 2.4 The Heat (The Energy) 2.3 Poison 2.4 No Good (Start the Dance) 2.3 One Love (Edit) 2.3 The Narcotic Suite: 3 Kilos 2.5 The Narcotic Suite: Skylined 2.3 The Narcotic Suite: Claustrophobic Sting 2.2 Score: 2.491666667

Music for twats gacked out in their mom’s basement. 2/5

I've been sitting on this album for a while with the fear that I'd hate every minute of it. As a non-fan of electronica, it was more enjoyable than I anticipated. The "meat" of each song was a little much for me (and the singing lady was a bit too 90s if that makes any sense), but there were some recurring elements in each that I enjoyed (e.g., the ringing bell in Claustrophobic Sting). I found the history of the album more interesting as a release in response to the outlaw of raves in the UK. Favorite song: 3 Kilos Least favorite: No Good (Start the Dance) Knew before? No

This was ok but not something I'd want to listen to regularly. Went on a bit too long.

*breaking window sound effect for 11 minutes over generic electronic beat* Ah yes this will be a hit

Thought I’d like it the way it started but it got repetitive and lasted too long

2.5 I listened to the albums in two sitting on different days. At first I hated it but I probably would have hated almost anyting on that day. Back half of the Album I had a bit more time/patience to get into it. As a whole its not something I would go out of my may to listen to but I could totally see how other would love this

So I bought 'The Fat of the Land' at the time in the nineties, the follow uptro this. You can certainly hear the genesis here of what became an absolute classic a few years later. Good beats, rhythmically driving but all in al la bit silly for somebody who didn't ever engage with the jilted generation.

I bet this would have been awesome in a packed club at 2am. Less so on a Wednesday afternoon commute. Oh well.

Um, no. One saving grace was that I was at the gym for this. Hard to imagine listening to it from a sedentary position.

A guy I know was so excited to hear I had hit this album. He said it was one of his all time favorites. I didn't have the heart to tell him I don't like techno.

Not my thing but ok. 2.5

Wasn’t into this. Fat of the Land for me.

Wingspan brought me back to the generator today! Didn’t vibe with this one though

2.0 I don’t know how anyone can separate the good from the bad in this genre.

I think I found a way to listen to this type of music and not totally be annoyed. And that way is doing something like Biking or working out. This album made me feel like i was in the matrix. This album is also one long song. Not actually.... But it truly sounds like there is no change. Just different layers. Often times, repeat beats/samples are used again. Even from other albums. I don't know. Even though it was ok of a listen while I was biking... I don't ever want to listen to this again. It has nothing for me. It's background noise.

kinda repetitive and boring, didnt really get much out of it, i prefer contemporary electronic music Significant No 76/229 Liked No 36/229 Added No 10/229

"good because british" - 1001 Albums

Meth-y jams.

It feels like music that would play as a theme of an early 2000s kids tv show most of the time.

This album was inferior to the first The Prodigy album that we listened to. Less recognizable and more bland in my opinion. This especially gets hit a bit harder coming off of a refreshing 30 minute Beatles album. Long in general and especially long for what it is. I think it makes sense for the first prodigy album to make this list, but not this album.

I can tell you one thing: this is not the album you want to listen to in a "hurry up and wait" situation as a teacher on the last day of school while waiting on the district office to finalize grades for your high school seniors a day later than planned because a singular individual did not have their grades done on time and refused to work late to get them done. Essentially, I'm listening to club music while being held captive by an archaic reporting system and someone's inability to read their emails. Too long, just like the amount of time I had to sit in an empty classroom today. I guess you could say Their Laws and Claustrophobic Sting were tracks that really stuck out for me. Also, how does a kid that I’ve seen be glued to their laptop for four years fail an Intro to Computers class? I don’t know if it’s that this genre is growing on me, or if The Prodigy is really good at what they do, but these albums really aren’t terrible. They’re just very situational listens. Rounding down from a two and a half.

Every time I listen to The Prodigy I feel like I should be wearing a black trench coat with combat boots and sunglasses at night; kicking in a door to a vampire night club in the middle of a blood orgy. Wesley Snipes throws me a fully auto crossbow in slow motion as I combate roll across the room to catch it. Time resumes normal speed when all of the black leather clad vampires turn to me. "What a pain in the neck" I say before squeezing the trigger and begining the electronica fueled slaughter of the blood sucker monsters. After 3 minutes of that feeling, I'm just sitting around listening to mediocre beats for another 1h and 12min. Wondering was that actually cool, or really lame in hindsight.

Way too long. Just like the other one on here. Trim the fucking fat. Still way to much EDM, electronica, dance, whatever on here.

Was probably fun at the time to hear this in a club, off your nut, but it just sounded amateurish and a bit boring.

I was not in the mood for this. 2.

2 some cool things happening with this album but alas it is still boring, repetitive and entirely too long electrónica

While I appreciate their enthusiasm, this is jot something I find enjoyable.

Holy fuck is techno/electronica repetitious. I think I would like it more if I was at a rave on Friday night whacked on ecstasy and dancing. But I'm at home on a rainy Saturday morning sipping tea and it doesn't quite translate.

# 234 : Good music to play in a rave, but Some of the songs are just a bit too long and samey. Average at best!

ultimate 90s electronic.

I'm just saying, there is an album that released a month after this that is better in every way which didn't make it on the list. WHERE IS WEEZER!! This album was mid and the beat drops were not satisfying. Got to give it a 2/5

How did we have the energy to listen to 80 minutes of this stuff in the 90s? Not top banger stuff, but still pretty fucking banging

Fine for low background energy until the last song-which annoyed me. A 3 then became a 2.

A just alright collection of sludgy electronica. Poison is the best song.

I can only listen to a few pieces at a time!

Fan of their other stuff, this one's a bit long winded though.

Technoide Tanzmusik. Als solche sehr gut. Trifft aber nicht so ganz meinen Geschmack. Obwohl...sie hat schon manchmal was Mitreißendes.

Bad of the land was better

Not sure we need two Prodigy albums on this list. "The Fat of the Land" was plenty. They are both good Electronica albums, but this slot should have gone to another contemporary electronic artist. Two and one-half stars. It undeservedly loses a half-star because the "random" album generator gave us both Prodigy albums within one week.

Couldn’t get through all the blips and boops.

I don't do the right kind of drugs for this.

This doesn't belong on this list.

Not my cup of tea…or coffee

Felt like pretty repetitive early techno to me.

VERY 90's dance vibes. There's a lot of fun, and creative stuff here- but I am getting tired not even 4 songs in. I understand that this isn't my thing, and that you really have to dig this kind of stuff to get enjoyment out of it- I just don't. To me it overstays its welcome- again, there are fun moments, but I would much prefer these tracks at shorter intervals, and a shorter track list. At this point, this is quality gaming background music at best. Solid 4/10

I suppose there's a time and place for it Not 06:30 in my car on the way to work

Idk if I’m jilted enough

Too long, and not jilted enough (2.5/5)

Not as bad as I expected.

Not a big synth fan

"Yeah Yeah Yeah ... I got the poison Boom Bap ... Yeah Yeah ... WTF?! (5,0/6)

Gave up on this after halfway through. I get it. The whole UK early industrial electronic scene is not for me. I’ve tried, I’ve failed. Some okay beats here and fun experimentation but it’s so grating.

I don't my electronic music, just not an entire album. Seems repetitive 1.5/5

Not my thing at all but well-executed.

It was alright the prodigy isn’t my taste really

It's not bad, it's even kind of interesting at points. But 80 minutes is just entirely too long for an album with this type of music. It sounds like a looped playlist of royalty-free a content creator gym would play so that it's influencers could record without incurring charges.

A repetitive journey. Like it’s a Small World.

Not my thing

I am not that generation.

Not my kind of thing.

Couldn’t wait to turn it off. Really pisses me off

I'll be honest, I came back to this one just to not miss a day expecting to really dislike it, and honestly, it didn't disappoint in the fact that I did if fact hate it! (it's not my style), I'll give it 2 starts for its consistency according to my expectations

Well, if I was at a rave in ‘94, this would be perfect. Sitting in a chair listening on headphones 30 years later, bores the shit out of me. Unless you are at a rave or something, no one needs the same beat going for 8+ minutes. I know some tracks change it up at some points, and it’s all about the progression and how it builds, but you get what I mean. I’m on the fourth track now and luckily these are getting shorter. I will give them props for adding some metal guitar to a dance track. I need to see the Techno Viking going to this! Poison - I was just thinking “Oh this could easily be a hip hop beat, then in the middle it, completely turns in to an old school beat. More than halfway through, this is where I start drawing some lines in my overly-critical mind…. Do I enjoy listening to this? Not actively listening, no. In the back ground while I’m doing something energetic? Sure. Do I think it’s good music? Musically, there’s not a lot happening. Basically you get the drums down, throw a variety of samples, etc., on top. But is it good music? See answers to my previous questions. Is this artist talented? Definitely stitching together tracks like this takes talent. Do I like it? I think it can take you to a place just like Simon & Garfunkel can, but in a different way. And I like that at the right time and place. But at this point in my life, I’m never ever going to be in that time or place again. So, no, I would never listen to this on purpose. I’m a real trooper though. I’m gonna listen to this whole goddamn thing and you can’t stop me.

Not for me! I respect the foundation to edm tho

Favorite Track: 3 Kilos

Not really my thing. The album art also bothers me, and I just don’t enjoy seeing it in my library. It feels dirty and sticky and doesn’t match my vibe.

This is clearly well composed dance music. It's grimy and varied. Perfect for soundtracking your Cyberpunk role-playing game. It's also very long. Highlights: Voodoo People, Their Law, Speedway

Mediocre.

Overindulgent, uninspiring, and repetitive.

90s movie montage music

not for me, couldn’t get through

Not my cup of joe

Truthfully I went into this record thinking I'd hate it. And maybe I still do. However there were a few things that were notable about this listen. One - there's a hell of a lot of songs or snippets of songs I immediately recognize from some of my favorite movies of the 90s. Second, I think this type of music is best (at least for me) when my mind is mostly pre-occupied with other things. Listening while working allowed me to have my mind elsewhere, only to come back to focusing on what I'm hearing and find that it's the same beat, or melody, that I had just heard 5 minutes ago. No doubt I'd have an issue listening to the same exact beat replay over, and over, and over, and over again with my full attention. But at work or with other things to distract me? It works kinda!

Am I too jilted for this music? Possibly. This music does very little for me. I'm beginning to suspect that The Prodigy was a band someone on the project came of age hearing. I get the sense that only someone who was into The Prodigy early in life would love them enough to include them twice especially given how little difference there is among the tracks and thus the albums.

I dislike it respectfully. Its just not my Sound

i didn't take enough dr*gs for this.

what mark said about justice is how i feel about prodigy....

it's techno! I don't know much about Prodigy aside from the one song. This is pretty solid techno though. It's dance music that has a lot of layers in it. I never actually finished listening to this album but I don't feel the need to. Review of Reviews: Seems like people get it. It's dark industrial techno that came out in a time before there was any.. Best Track: Break & Enter.... woooooooooo

Made me feel like a robot but in a good, locked in way. Enjoyed listening to it at the gym but I doubt I would ever listen again. 2.5

If I was in a club and this was pumping with a buzzing crowd ... back in the day... I'd be luvvin it. Fast forward 30 years and listen to the album in isolation... its actually quite bland and long, there's nothing legendary about this as part of the rave scene.

Bleh, not very good. Songs were mostly too long. My favorite song was full throttle

This album is comfortably outside of my comfort zone. While most of it was inoffensive, it did feel awfully outdated in parts, and repetitive and droning in others. Needless to say, not my cup of tea. Highlight: 3 Kilos Lowlight: Claustrophobic Sting Surprise Hit: Poison

Reminds me of the time Kyle Gantos (aka Puntos) and Eddie Ybarra took X at the lizard lounge in Dallas and Eddie dehydrated and over heated. Like those two this album did not age well.

So right of the bat, I’m not a fan of this cover art. Normally, I see something like this, I wouldn’t bother listening. For the sake of this journey of discovery, I pressed play. I don’t mind electronic. After the mechanical saw-sounding intro, Break and Enter is ok. It’s just a little fast for me. Can’t really bob my head or dance to it. Listening to Their Law made me think it’s more workout music than dance music. I could see this music playing in one of the gym-bro type places that’s just a huge room full of dumbbells and weight machines. But as we get further into Full Throttle and The Heat, I don’t know. Prodigy loses me a little. It’s not bad melodically, but there’s A LOT of different sounds to take in here. It was distracting.

not for me

God it's all just so much isn't it. I think I have enjoyed the Prodigy in the past but I have to say this time it felt like a slog. I appreciate it must be very impressive music to actually produce but I didn't have a good time listening

Voodoo People good. The rest? Bad.

Aucune surprise, on ronfle

Ehhh i dunno I don’t really like electronic that goes this hard on space sounds. I acknowledge that listening to this on air pods while cleaning moss off bricks probably was not the intended environment, and maybe I’d enjoy it more at 2am in some trippy galaxy tent. but yeah it’s a 2.5/5 from me dawg

This is one of the most boring electronic albums I’ve ever heard.

Not into hard drugs, so may have missed this one. 2

Would be better if it was the mid-90's and on a bunch of e.

Way too long

There hasn't been electronic music quite like this so far! This is definitely leaning in the direction of rave music. It's a little bit edgy and dark, which I can appreciate. This really isn't my type of music, so I didn't appreciate it as much, but that said, I know well enough that this is a historical piece of music in the raver scene, and certainly deserving of some recognition in this project! Probably around a 2.5 for me, but not rounding this one up!

A little too much repetitive, droning, boring sounds for me. It felt like a never ending soundtrack to a video game or a Matrix-like film, that is fine, but not my idea of a good time. Good background noise, if you're at a club or rave or some electronica festival with DJ's dressed as machines. If this is someone's idea of the future, I'm content with my old dad-rock.

day 5. interestingly, though I don’t listen to techno/electronic music I did know 1 song from this band, but it’s on their next album The Fat of the Land. Judging by this listen, I think I’d like the sound of that more than this one. it just dragged on forever … it wouldn’t fit any place in my listening. Not quite work background music, not pumping me up enough for a workout, not chill out music. Idk. 2/5 I can tolerate but wouldn’t choose to listen to. Faves: No Good (Start the Dance)

Good to hear an album and be like I see what this influenced

Just not my jam for an entire album

Not terrible, but there's not enough that's interesting here to recommend it. Forgettable.

It's just so repetitive. I wanted to like it, but no dice.

Beats too big

this had a few songs i really liked but overall it was a bit of a slog

I am sure this is great in a certain situation under a certain influence but it isn't an album to listen to, enjoy or immerse in. It's a songs characterised by a series of repetitive beats. And musical phrases. There's worse dance music, I have had to listen to some of it here, but it's still not interesting to do anything more than dance to.

not for me

This album is its own special niche of cool. Not my fav though. Sounds like the soundtrack to a PS1 racing game in outer space.

I was listening to this album bobbing my head while also thinking the whole time: "I hate this". A head bob is a head bob though, most have got me enthralled enough.

A very nice techno album, never heard it before or of The Prodigy, unfortunately not my favorite one, cool beats and nice drops and all but just felt a little repetitive, a lot of the songs seem to just drag on with the same repeating loop not really adding anything needed for a 7-8 minute song. All in all just not the best I’ve heard. Good sounds but just doesn’t hit the right spots for me.

Should just be called Soundtrack to the Matrix

This is music made for 90’s youth who liked to get super high and flail around. I don’t think it has a purpose today, I do like Electronic but prefer it to be chill not abrasive. There were some instances of good music on this album but they’d fuck it up with some annoying effect, most notably on Full Throttle when they tossed in the annoying duck sounds. Admittedly, I was not excited about this one, I thought it’d be ok for a morning run at least and I guess that made it a bit more tolerable but it was still grating and annoying for the most part. The only track I can say I enjoyed would be 3 Kilos. 2 Stars

This may have been better when I was in high school, listening back to it now it's not earthshattering. It was probably at the forefront of electronic music and allowed future acts to exist but since I listened to them first this one just doesn't have the sizzles factor.

Very intense listening for 6am on a night shift

Who listens to this, apart from drug dealers? Great for dancing when you're off your tits, but otherwise useless.

My biggest takeaway from this is how quickly electronic music advanced from 1994 to 1997, because this sounds at least a decade older than "The Fat of the Land". It's almost primitive in comparison, the songs are way longer but also way more repetitive. It lacks the cool vocals and samples that make the crab album so fun to listen to. In conclusion, just listen to "The Fat of the Land" instead. It even has a funny crab on the cover.

Nah. Thanks.

Not for me

A bit too annoying for my taste, but also bland in a lot of places. A weird mixture.

Side B is 5 star

Grote tegenvaller. Had hier meer van verwacht.

You can feel the early forms of electronic music

It has its moments, but I can't really listen to an album of it. I prefer some of the more recent prodigy

Not my scene.

Close to being a 3 because of a couple bangers, but it's a bit hardcore for a whole album for me

Alright , my dad loves this band =) Their law is cool

Catchy, but too long and repetitive. None of the focus of Fat of the Land.

This album is too long (78 minutes) and too much. The Prodigy is a band for which it's better to listen to individual songs instead of full albums imo. I respect it, but as a full album start to finish listen I didn't enjoy it a lot.

Messy dystopian future sounding electronic music. Non of their well known stand out hits make this album fall flat.

The fact that people in the reviews are hyping this album up speaks to how shitty British music was in the 90s. 3/10

I wasn't big on the rave scene. It seemed like a lot of drugs and repetitive beats. This sounds a little more entertaining than that, but not by much. It sounds like there's some thought going into this, which is more than I can say for other music in this category, so that's cool. But there's nothing here that stays with me.

This is probably better in a crowd than on headphones. I like a little more variety in my loops. Hack the planet.

Small doses...great for movie trailers and action sequences and delusions of a Trainspotting lifestyle.

The sound track to every late 90s hacker movie...

Under the right circumstances, I could totally listen to this. Unfortunately, those circumstances would involve being in a k-hole surrounded by a lot of other people, and a time machine set for 1997. Nowadays? A couple of tracks on a playlist would be good. 78 minutes worth? Not so much.

What it feels like to take bad ecstacy.

Used to really like this but now it seems overly repetitive and too long.

Nice Melodies, trying to be punk (but not)

not my style

Argh, I don't know if it's album fatigue or what, but I just wasn't having this today. Too many recent albums I just didn't enjoy listening to on busy stressful days. This one went on forever. Even back in the day, I didn't enjoy bouncing up and down in a crowded club to endlessly repeating phrases and loud beats.

Had heard this before and liked Fat of the Land 20 years ago, but this was not for me

Fruity Loops album…

same prodigy boring

Annoying. I had high hopes because Fat of the Land is one of my favorite albums, but this was intolerable.

not a fan of this album.

Uninteresting 90s dance/club music that hasn't aged well. 1.5/5

Not my type of music. Voodoo people is awesome though

In the 90s this sounded like the future. I listened to the first 10 tracks, but didn't finish. Definitely Matrix rave vibes on the first half of the album. I was listening while working, which put me in a productive mood. However I wouldn't listen again.

I wore the wrong pants for this album.

Pioneering electronic music, lots of nostalgia. Not the most exciting listen now, but amazing for it's time.

This went on forever and was somehow unsettling yet boring at the same time.

Eh... it didn't move me. Some interesting textures and beats produced, but I don't think I'll be coming back to this album a ton.

7/11/22

Reminds me of video game soundtracks from the late 90s/ early 2000s which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I dont usually love heavy synth music without accompanying vocals or guitar, but I found myself nodding along and moving my legs to the music. Favorite Song: Voodoo People

Two and a half. It turns out I had a belief hiding in my subconscious that I never needed to listen to an entire prodigy album in my lifetime. It also turns out I was correct. But my headphones were dying and every two mins or so this robotic voice would cut in and say “battery low” and it fit right in with the oontz oontz music.

I’m certain this is good for the right kind of person but I was not feeling grimy electronic music so I struggled with this

More like "Music for the Deaf". Yeesh it's just kind of this industrial or drum & beat electronica. 3/10.

2.5 / 5. First listen. When I first started listening, I really wasn't impressed. But, as the day has gone on, I am starting to get into it.

Ew, no. Can't say this was objectively bad but getting through it was a slog. It reminds me of the music used in the Sims that they danced to on radio stations. Just utterly strange. My fave track, "No Good" was ironically the only one that I thought was any good. That said, I didn't despise this album, it's just not a style of music I can really get into. And the sound hasn't aged particularly well--it lacks a sense of timelessness for me.

Not their best work

I don't know, it feels like this music sounds a bit outdated. Like it meant to be cool, but it's not anymore.

Not my music preference at all. This album was difficult to get through and it felt as if it was never-ending. Not a fan, sorry :(

Pure ecstasy!! That's what I'd need to ingest to enjoy this stuff – 100% pure ecstasy. There’re a few great dance floor thumpers, but not really enough to carry an album. “No Good” is an excellent track. Even though by 1994 that sample had been around the block a few times, no one did it with the energy or bpms of these guys. For me, they could have used 1 or 2 more songs like 3 Kilos, moving away from that relentless hardcore breakbeat sound, but then it would have been a different animal. I think their cohorts at that time, Fatboy Slim and Chemical Brothers were doing more interesting stuff, though Prodigy were more frantic.

I have this CD, but I honestly don't even like it that much. There are some parts that are enjoyable, however it is kind of exhausting to get through.

If every song was only 45 seconds long that would be better.

At its best, this is an album of kind of interesting videogame final-boss music. At its worst, this sounds like the music Jez makes in Peep Show. Just an idiot with a synth, pressing the buttons at whim. I did not love this.

Not very good. Very techno, but it's not terrible to listen to.

More 90's. Without the flashing lights and drugs it get's old fast. I semi remember dancing in the clubs to Voodoo People back in my youth. It's ok.

Unlistenable. Unless… you’re in an, um, enhanced state. And at a dance party. In 1994. Or a Skid on Letterkenny.

I'd rather listen to Fat Of The Land... but really, I'd rather listen to Chemical Brothers.

This music basically means nothing if it's not 1997 and you're not watching an action movie or at a club

What is this, Techno? Too quick paced to enjoy.

Not my type of music.

I need a drink. Do you need a drink? These lights are hurting my eyes and I can't stop my shoulders from moving in a funny gyrating manner. Do lasers burn a hole through your retinas? Where is this smoke coming from? There's a time and place for some types of music. I can never imagine that I would listen to this anywhere other than the alluded to place above.

I'm here and I'm listening and I'm enjoying bits of it but a lot of the time I'm wishing I was listening to The Fat of the Land instead. I know Keith Flint (RIP legend) didn't really start doing vocals until the next album and I think this album really misses that. Maybe I'm biased because I'm used to hearing The Prodigy with him and also because I was listening to this during a shit day at work, lol The guitar in Their Law is NOICE OOH 3 Kilos is a sweet little change up!!

Didn't like, though tbf I don't think this was meant to be listened to in the lab at 11am.

Too cool for me I was just mildly stressed doing a puzzle listening to this

I'd probably love this if I were 19 rolling on molly at some underground rave, lol

Det är... storbeat men ganska utdaterat.

annoying af

This wasn't super rough to listen to but it's hard to understand how an album full of just beats could be considered a must hear

Not for me. Annoying, repetitive and boring.

its a lot of synth loops but not very fun

2, barely, this is what people in the 90's thought future music would be

Dark and industrial is cool, but I can't sit and listen to it for long

I didn’t hate it but i also didn’t love at all. It wasn’t bad it just wasn’t interesting. It’s music that you would put on to focus on something fast? I wouldn’t listen to it again unless I like had a purpose to. 2.5/5…

Ah yes, raving in the ‘90s. I might have liked this then, but it’s not for me right now. Anyway, I always preferred Underworld (dubnobass).

Didn't care for it

didn't finish - quite repetitive.

All a bit samey to be honest. Some good bits in places but as a whole album I didn't enjoy it.

Wasn't expecting to like it and I was right. Most of it is not unpleasant, but it's just sound. It doesn't even really sound like music to me.

If this album were a pastrie I would say it wasn't worth the calories. Some of the songs are kinda cool, but then they just go on and on without much variation, and the album overall was the same way. Not for me.

Had only heard singles off of "The Fat of The Land" before. Though I think I prefer this more electronic non-band format, the album wore thin pretty quick with me. I think I'd need a chemical enhancement or two to actually get excited about it.

This is basically what I thought all electronic music was until college. It s not bad per say, but it’s only useful for a club setting. If you told me this was a 90s video game soundtrack I would believe you 100%. This style feels so dated and did not age well to me. 2.5 down to 2.

Felt stale a third of the way through.

Didn’t make it to the end

This is what the goths in Letterkenny listen to, but not what I listen to

Straight up did not enjoy listening to this NEVER ENDING album. You know in really cheesy 90s movies that tried to be really cool where there was inevitably a scene in some sort of REALLY COOL 90s club where people were like dancing in cages and had very spiky hair and there's just incredibly obnoxious NOISE blaring through the speakers? Turns out, in literally every one of those scenes in every one of those movies they are listening to this album by The Prodigy. Only thing saving this from 1 star was 3 Kilos, which was enjoyable (surprise! It had a melody and wasn't 350 bpm!)

The Prodigy are like rock music with the sex taken out. No-one ever screwed to the Prodigy - it’s too frantic and has no juice, just energeeeeeee! Now, Fluke have sex, but not the Prodigy. Great with amphetamine, though.

Not for me clive

I understand the rave vibes, but this could be good if each song had 2 or 3 minutes less.

An interesting listen. Couldn't get enough of some of it while I couldn't stand other parts! There's a good variety of electronic/house music here so there's bound to be something to connect with. I'm not huge on this type of music but I really enjoyed some of the darker, heavier music. It was reminiscent of music from some old FPS games.

These are songs that I would hear in like old skater montages from the 90s and early 00s. You know the ones I'm talking about: low fps, low resolution, black and white or some other weird filter, and really low camera angles. All the songs are unremarkable and blend together, and although the songs are actual songs in this album, I just don't see how this music is important. Favorite track: Speedway

Good enough album on places but it goes for fuckin forever, just like all skanky UK techno. Mostly just sounds like the soundtrack to a snowboarding game on the PS1. Want to give it a 3 but in all honesty... 2.5/5.

Prior to listenign to this album I was familiar with a few tracks from Prodigy. I thought that some of what I heard previously was okay, and some of it I did not like. Listening to this album did not change my opinion. The further I got in to the album, the more I was ready for the album to be over. I would not listen to the whole album again.

There was once a very brief time during grunge that electronica was considered ‘alternative’. People seemed to really love it. I was not one of those people. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t terrible, it just isn’t my thing. If there was an album that was the Matrix soundtrack, other than the Matrix soundtrack, it would be this.

This album sounds entirely of its time. I dig the breaks and the chopped samples, however, it's strictly a rave album and fails to provide enough song structure to build a hit. I'd rave to this in some sketchy warehouse had I been born decades earlier in the UK; but since I'm a 90s kid I'd prefer to rip Need for Speed and drink Mountain Dew Code Red to their greatest hits instead. I enjoy their later work quite a bit more than this album. ⭐⭐

Not sure why this album is on the list. Was it the start of EDM? It was alright. It could have been a shorter album too. There is no need to ever listen to it again.

Maybe not my kind of music, but it does have its merits. 6.3/10

i was so bored. i don't know if this is good or bad.

It's not dreadful, but it's so lame and boring. Nothing really interesting. And they think they are so hard. Drums at very one note.

A never ending parade of synthetic intensity, like a bottomless Monster energy drink. If you're looking for music to smoke crystal and gyrate all night until 9am in a sweaty European basement rave to, this album is for you. Just a ham-fisted splooge of blips and bloops, uninspired samples, repetitive beats that mostly go nowhere. Fine if you're in a trance or need something high energy bumping in the background - decent as a workout soundtrack, certainly does not warrant a close listen.

It was ok. I actually liked several of the beats... but just instrumentals/beats are never going to do it for me.

Not my cup of tea

Struggled with this. The positive sounds couldn't outweigh the dull.

Boring. I prefer music with vocals. My ears perked up at 3 Kilos, but otherwise I was tuned out.

Eh. Just not for me.

This album leans heavily on dense breakbeats and the rhythm section as a whole. That's not wholly a bad thing, but a bit more melody would have made everything feel cohesive rather than 1-2 synth lines over percussion.

The opening monologue was kind of cringy. I imagine this was probably influential in the industrial/rave scene of the 90s but it didn't excite me.

Has soundtrack like music. The album was adopted by the rave scene in England. Though it was revolutionary in the way the artist sampled sound effects from many tv shows, is it really necessary for this list?

This record is fine, but not really for me. It all kinda sounds the same. I don’t think I’ll listen to it again

Holy Christ is this project loooooooong. Nearly 80 minutes. It's good background music, but when I focus on it, I get bored super quickly. I ended up scanning through the last three songs. I like the industrial vibe it gives, but I just didn't like this record that much. Favorite tracks: "Poison", "3 Kilos"

Electronic really isn’t my thing

I guess I just don't understand techno music

They sound like stand up guys and I’m sure it’s a great example of this sort of music but fuck me I hated every single second of it

I'm so close to quitting with yet another 90s dance or whatever album. I don't spend my time in warehouses, clubs, or open fields dancing. There is some music that is so tied to a specific time and place that for most people it's unlistenable.

No thanks. I’ll pass.

I get the appeal in theory of high energy industrial rave but this does nothing for me. I like other rave music, but I did not want to rip molly and tear up the dance floor with this on. I just wanted to turn it off. (1.5)

This was difficult because I wanted to like it but I did not. Soft neutral because definitely unique but not for me.

Sorry, I don't do drugs
