Actually loved this country album! Love her voice and she sang proto-feminism songs so mad respect!

Ptdrrrr c'est bien hein mais force à elle, d’où tu te maries à 15 ans ma reuf

Yep, this is country - (up)tight and wistful

This was better than I was expecting. She's got a really nice voice that suits the music perfectly. I wouldn't have chosen to listen to this, and even though it was nice I wouldn't seek it out again. It's got all the hallmarks of a solid 3 stars!

classic country lovin

nice enough

Proto-Dolly? Very classic country vibes. Not really for me but listenable.

Classic country album. Not my favourite Loretta album but still good.

I want to hate this but I don't.....so far. 3/5 very enjoyable to listen to but somewhat depressing. Having just lost my dad I don't want anything depressing right now. She's wonderfully talented

Classic country, very honest way of singing, I enjoyed it as much as I could

Fun and great stories about love in a relationship and the end of one with tears… I don’t love country but I had fun with this one and prefer older country albums than newer ones for sure. Great way to start my morning!

Iconic old school country, great storytelling, classic and twangy, adding to my kitchen albums

Some classic twang from Loretta Lynn and her band. I really appreciate that she really doesn't take any shit from her man at all, good for her. They really seemed to play it loose in the 60's so there's that. Loretta Lynn's voice is fantastic the band, despite never really opening things up, does their job in the back making for a very easy listening country album. Get What 'Cha Got and Go is my favourite followed closing by the title track, again I really just appreciate the snark that Loretta brings to the table on this album, I wasn't expecting that but I like it. 3 stars

Finally some country music to play. Reminds me of 1970's small towns and AM radio. Love it before listening 12 songs about heartbreak, loneliness, love, alcohol abuse and marital problems. One of the saddest albums I've heard lately.

++: I Really Don't Want to Know, Tomorrow Never Comes, The Devil Gets His Due, I'm Living in Two Worlds, Get Whatcha Got and Go +: Don't Come Home a Drinkin' (With Lovin' on Your Mind), There Goes My Everything, The Shoe Goes on the Other Foot Tonight, Saint to a Sinner, I Can't Keep Away from You, Making Plans, I Got Caught 7,0/10

There's something kinda special about this particular style of country.

butu gal nieko, jei bachuras palikes butu ka tik

Fuck Trump

My dad called this style of country "cryin' in your beer music"

sounds like you’d expect it to but that’s not a bad thing!!

It was alright yeah

6/10 I mean obviously it is too Country and Western, but I can't get away from the quality of her voice and the heavy nostalgia that it brings with memories of my grandad.

Ooof... She's talented vocally but what a sad sack.

Solid c&w. Hits the beats, sticks to the theme, over before you know it.

It's fine hut really nothing special, fell off a ton by the second half

Nothing mind blowing here, but it's certainly an easy listen if you can appreciate country. 3 Stars

Firstly, Lynn’s voice is quite beautiful and carries most of the music here. There’s a couple of standouts like the title track and closer, with most songs dealing with love and loss. It sometimes feels like a record that was built around a single, which by 1966 was a fairly dated approach to the album format. Still, Lynn’s voice and the themes help tie it all together and give it a coherency, even when some songs fail to stick in the mind.

Well, album 200 for me on this challenge and I’m happy with the title. Let’s see how it lands… 28 mins and 12 tracks. Feels clean, simple and the storytelling that feels so synonymous with this time and style. Pleasant enough as a sound, but kinda samey and slow moving. Obviously of it’s time and genre but not getting me going - meh

Best Track - "Don't Come Home A-Drinkin (With Lovin On Your Mind)"

Straightforward cheating and drinking’ country fare. But what a great voice with a beautifully controlled vibrato.

Quite dated but decent voice and tunes

It was okay.

We've all been there right fellas?? LMAO j/k Anyways, I like her voice and some of the slide guitar in this. I like how she really doubles down on the shoe metaphors in The Shoe Goes On The Other Foot Tonight. "I thought that she was going to air some dirty laundry but it ended up just being a song about shoes!"

Golden

This project has shown me that I actually do like country music, primarily when it's authentic and original country like this. Loretta has a beautiful voice and is paired with equally lovely music to complement her. I do hope the men in her life stopped comin' home drunk, but I know this is a tale as old as time for women of the world. I'm grateful to be a gentle drunk; I think Loretta would have accepted me for who I am, even drunk.

I enjoyed this more than I was expecting. It was short and sweet, well maybe not sweet, sounded like someone wronged this lady.

I don’t get the impression that she’d have been a fun hang.

I wish modern country music was a lot more like this.

Damn girl who hurt you.

Seems like a vibe. I'm alright with this.

Super catchy melodies and subtle but effective instrumentation, though it can be occasionally bland. Lynn's vocal tone is amazing. I'm definitely looking more into country music and the Nashville sound. Favorite songs: Title track, The Shoe Goes on the Other Foot Tonight, I Really Don't Want To Know.

Reminds me of fallout new vegas. Pretty cozy, just not what I normally listen to

Classic country by a classic artist.

Great voice, just not an enticing genre or album to me at all :(

There is something about the twang of this type of country that makes it sound lightweight and flimsy Which is a shame as the lyrics and her vocal performance are anything but lightweight

Not her best.

It's good Loretta Lynn. Nuff said.

First proper country record, I am familiar with Loretta. She has a beautiful voice and kind of the voice which comes to my mind when I think of female singing a classic country tunes. I am not huge on country, but this is solid and enjoyable, probably 3 stars

My big country music connection from living in Nashville is we were neighbours with one of Loretta’s granddaughters. Her dog and ours would play together running around in a small stream bordering her land. Real exciting stuff. Anyhow, aside from Jack White championing her, I didn’t hear much about Loretta until I moved to TN and even then, as with most older country acts, it was pure legacy. Honestly this isn’t really my bag, but I wonder if she entertained doing soul or contemporary non-country music as her vocal really pops in the mix - a more authoritative, stronger vocal than something like Nancy Sinatra or even Dusty. The song selection is a bit heavy on a limited set of subjects, but that’s par for the course with country then and today. The overall sound though is just thisside of cloying or hokey and it reminds me in a good way of nights at Robert’s.

A lotta cheatin’ going on.

Nice listen. It all kinda sounds the same to me after a while

Loretta Lynn's album is a mouthful, though it is quite the easy listen. Her voice reminds me a lot of Dolly Parton, and the music Patsy Cline, both her contemporaries. In that regard, I wonder how much originality this album serves being on the list. Despite that, the album wasn't bad. Lynn's cadence is pleasant and provides a smooth listening experience. She's old school, classic country with a capital C, a genre that's underrepresented--and underappreciated.

This album is a toughie for me. I absolutely bow to Loretta Lynn and recognize her for her contributions to country music and women in country music, but this style of country music usually just isn't it for me. It just sounds so forlorn, no matter how pleasant a song might sound. I guess it all comes out in the wash to a 3.

The Alpha Couple, a month before John Darnielle was born

1) Don't Come Home A Drinkin 2) I Really Don't Want to Know 3) Tomorrow Never Comes 4) Saint to A Sinner 5) There Goes My Everything lot of songs sound same but its a calming tracklist, I dont come home a drinkin is fun song and I really dont want to know she sings really well.

Top 3 tracks no order: The devil gets his due The shoe goes on the other foot tn Don’t come home a drinking (with lovin on your mind🗣️❤️‍🩹)

70% Best: Don't Come Home A-Drinkin' (With Lovin' On Your Mind); I Really Don't Want To Know; The Shoe Goes On The Other Foot Tonight Must-Hear? Nah

Loretta Lynn is an all time country great. This was short but very enjoyable.

Just like Dolly, but not Dolly.

The Devil Gets His Due Don't Come Home A-Drinkin'

I’m wondering how this album got selected - maybe the selector(s) figured they should include something by Loretta Lynn since she had at least 50 albums, and this one stands out somehow. I think these tunes are mostly covers, but they are unfamiliar to me. The album is easy listening, standard country music. Also, this might be the shortest album on the list (28 minutes). I did like Floyd Cramer’s distinctive piano.

This is an amazing album cover+title combo. Forget Jim Morrison, I want a poster of this in my college dorm room. Is Loretta who Lurleen Lumpkin from The Simpsons was based on? Gotta be, right? I've never listened to her before, but I feel like Loretta is basically the female Elvis. Short songs, old-timey country-pop vibe, and yet I am compelled. The vocals are extremely clear, which I guess is something I care about. 'I Really Don't Want to Know' has a good message for us all (don't ask questions you don't want answers to). OK, I'm a genius, apparently Elvis covered a bunch of these songs (on an album called 'Elvis Country (I'm 10,000 Years Old)' -- me too, brother, me too.) Anyway, this isn't quite a 4, but I did enjoy it. A happy day (albumly). Syntax aside: what on earth is happening, structurally, in the lyric "A pretty boy Charlie's the name that you've been a given / And you act like the whole wide world all you were livin'"?! Is the name he's been given "Charlie" or "pretty boy Charlie"? People say *my* example sentences are weird and unnatural, but open your eyes! Weird and unnatural constructions are everywhere! Memory aside: 'Making Plans' was also on the album "Trio"! No wonder it sounded particularly appealing (i.e. familiar).

Bangers but kinda faded by the end. (The album, not me, Loretta)

Not my thing, but catchy

It’s certainly a prototype country album from the time. It wasn’t the worst I’ve heard, but sometimes the lyrics were laugh out loud cringeworthy.

Hey I love the message, but it‘s just a primitive record

Kindaa just standard country. Not sure if she's better than Dolly Parton.

Rebel music! The husbands are gonna be upset when they hear Loretta singing about cheating on her husband and denying his drunken advances. She's good.

Loretta - undeniable talent & force of nature of massive influence, but this genre makes me twitch after a bit - I had to turn her off around track 7, bless her heart

Vulnerable and evocative lyrics. I appreciate that she is breaking ground raising awareness and giving the middle finger to a male dominant world where when women were second class. This is an important album for its contribution to the feminist movement but I am just not a fan of the genre.

It is a well trodden fact that you can't have a country song without mentions of mama, jail or trains. But that really only goes for the male side of the genre. On the lady side - you get one topic and one topic only - L.U.V. Now that topic gets parceled into various categories. There' s "get your stuff and go" songs. There's the "why did you get your stuff and go" songs. There's the "I really miss you" songs. The "scoundrel" song is very popular as well as it's subcategory - the "take you lyin cheating heart and get out" song. And of course the hybrid "I cheated while you were cheatin'" song. In the end - it always ends. It is that sense of loss - that pathos - that connects no matter that time of the music - whether is be double time delivered with attitude or a ballad full pain - Loretta Lynn is a master. But here it is really only the songs Lynn wrote or co wrote herself that move the needle - the title track (a masterpiece), Get Wathca Got and Go and I Got Caught. They all have a little humor and attitude to go along with the well trodden tropes.

If you heard one song on this album, you've listened to them all. Every track is almost identical, with the lyrics being the only distinguishing feature. I'm glad that those songs sound good. This album could've been a lot worse. It's also only 28 minutes long. 3 stars for "DCHaD(WLoYM)".

Very ahead of its time lyrically. You can tell Loretta means it. Lots of cheating so you know it’s country

It is country music of the country music variety, not too bad though.

it’s a fun album to listen to, it’s not a style i dabble in a lot but it is one i enjoy. not too bad.

You can’t beat Loretta Lynn’s lyrics.

classy country lady

I love the attitude, the vibe, the salt of the earth lyrics - but I wish there was just a little more variation here.

Simple, straightforward country music. Nothing spectacular. Enjoyable if you find yourself in the mood for some simple, bluesy ballads with some solid enough vocals. I guess the most fascinating thing about the album is how it paints a pretty vivid picture of a time, place and lifestyle. I can see how it would have been groundbreaking at the time and how it may have made certain woman feel seen and heard. Perhaps the issue is I just cant relate fully but musically it doesnt blow me away. Looking at a 6.5/10

Not for me

I wasn't expecting to like this. I did.

I mean sure, it is the same song over and over (and over and over), but it did - annoyingly - make me tap my feet and nod my head.. I didn't hate it.

I don't claim to be a Loretta Lynn scholar, but I've listened to a few records and this isn't her best I dont think. Don't get wrong its good, I just think there's better of her out there.

Sad love songs and crying in your beer. Country really has a stereotype problem. It hasn't changed much in the last 60 years. I really don't like the music, but Loretta Lynn has a great voice. 2.5. I guess I round up because it is a good example of the genre.

This is pretty charming. I liked her spunkiness on Get What 'Cha Got And Go

Seems like just a basic country album. Story is kinda fun tho, he made her worse and couldn't handle it. I'm on her side, I support women's wrongs. Loretta can commit a little adultery as a treat, it's only fair. Best song: Don't Come Home A Drinkin' Notable(s): Saint To A Sinner, I Got Caught (I just really like how these showcase the relationship dynamics.)

Each track is put in a specific order: I Love you, I hate you, I love you, I hate you. Figure it out, girl!

Slatki old school album, ima country i 60s vine kombi, što mi je dosta kul. Iako moram priznati da dosadi slušati u komadu cijeli album, malo zvuči sejm sejm. 3/5, 5/10

Alright

Old school country about drinkin', cheatin', love, and heartbreak. All the songs are about two minutes long, so they don't feel very substantial. Just a collection of songs, and they chose the best one to make the title of the album. Great voice, but standard stuff otherwise.

I like this album. nice voice

Fun, would never listen to it on my own

Quite funny.

a lot of cheating lol

Classic Loretta Lynn. Her voice is so pure and simple. But, man, did someone do her wrong?!

01) Don't Come Home A-Drinkin' (With Lovin' on Your Mind) - 7,5 02) I Really Don't Want to Know - 7,0 03) Tomorrow Never Comes - 7,0 04) There Goes My Everything - 7,5 05) The Shoe Goes on the Other Foot Tonight - 7,0 06) Saint to a Sinner - 6,5 07) The Devil Gets His Dues - 7,0 08) I Can't Keep Away from You - 7,0 09) I'm Living in Two Worlds - 7,5 10) Get Whatcha Got and Go - 7,0 11) Making Plans - 7,0 12) I Got Caught - 7,0 TOTAL: 7,08 (71/100) Current ranking: 348/615

Country and Western of course. First track is title track, quite a feminist track! And catchy too! Lyrics alternate between female empowerment and love songs - which isn't fully contradictory. Otherwise it's not too bad. Easyish listening. Best track - title track 3 stars

It's good classic country. Not sure I would revisit but great voice and performances. Im normally not a country fan but this is something I can get behind. 3.5 stars, I round down. =Crap that shouldn't be here 2=I didn't like it but get why it's here 3=I thought it was ok or even like it, get why it's here, but won't revisit 4=I like it, will revisit 5=This is some of the best music I've ever heard and will continue listening to it

I preferred the songs where she’s telling some no-good, cheating drunk to buck his ideas up to the more sentimental tracks like There Goes My Everything and I Can’t Keep Away From You.

Well hello Loretta! This is an interesting inclusion considering her “Coal Miner’s Daughter” was omitted (as of this writing). This is an album of its time. It has the usual songs about cheating and feeling lonesome and love gone wrong. Nothing much that jumps out at you, but as far as women in country, Loretta is an icon, especially when this was released. These songs don’t seem like anything much today, but back in the ‘60s country scene, this was downright innovative. Much respect to Loretta. A nice album, but at the end of the day, really not incredible. 3/5

It was decent and pleasant enough. Loretta Lynn has a great voice, the soungs are well written enough and the instrumentals are nice. The steel guitar in particular. Nothing really fully grabbed me though.

Country

Chill country vibes - I feel like I'm in fallout new vegas haha. Don't listen to much country but enjoyed this!

It was alright. I'm not much of a country fan. Every song sounded the same to me.

Really enjoyed it!

Enjoyable, but I prefer Dolly!

Some down home, genuine songsmanship.

iiiiiháaaa!🏇🎠🐴🐎 --- 3

She has a beautiful, strong voice, but the songs on this album are ordinary.

Lovely voice. 3.5/5

Good Ol' Western music of it's time. Reminds me of hard times trying to relate to my step dad, and of my sister singing on the porch.

Not a big fan of old school country, but it's a fine album.

I love the photo on the album cover! It looks like someone said, “hey, we’ve got this photo of Loretta from last year’s church directory, let’s save some money and use that.” This is just good, old-fashioned, twangy, country at its best, or its worst, depending on where you sit. I was surprised and enjoyed this more than I expected to, because when I was a kid, I mercilessly made fun of the title track. But now even though I don’t love it and it does seem a little cheesy, I can appreciate and even enjoy it. And I do believe that Loretta Lynn is a very talented vocalist. This is the type of thing if I heard it playing in a restaurant or bar, I would enjoy it, but it would never make my regular playlist. It’s a three star album for me.

Very good

This was pretty good. Old style country music.

More country. Yippee. I've been through the country spiel enough times. I respect anything that isn't the modern garbage, but I still don't really vibe with the genre at large, save for some exceptional artists like Willie Nelson. Loretta Lynn is not one of those exceptional artists. To me, she's basically just a less interesting Dolly Parton. Even then, while I love Dolly as a person, I don't absolutely adore her music. Loretta does have influence in the genre though, so an album inclusion from her has an argument going for it. As far as this specific album goes, it's fine. These songs all kind of feel the same to me. They don't sound bad, but by the time you reach the halfway point of the album, you kind of already get what it's going for. It's not like it drags though. The album lasts for about 28 minutes, so it really can't do that. The writing certainly gives off a country vibe. While the title track certainly has emotion to it and it does sound nice, I can't help but feel that it's pretty dated lyrically? Like, girl, just leave him! Leave the bottle or me behind? Don't leave those kinds of decisions up to men! You know they're going to make the wrong choice. This definitely feels like a song written in a time that treated its women worse than now. I don't know. This album's basically just 12 decent country songs. There's nothing specifically bad about it, but I don't really vibe with it myself. I guess it has a legacy though. Low 3/5.

Cute and darker than the label.

Kind of Schmaltzy country, but you have to give her credit as a pioneer.

3 Stars (8/15)

The slower tempo songs all come off as rather uninspired and mundane, but I really quite like the uptempo songs. Engaging voice and energy.

I Really Don’t Want To Know the last time I was on this app…

Not sure how earnest the original intent was here, but it comes across as downright comical today. Certainly tackling a lot of romantic issues in a twangy, country-singer kinda way. Also the AA member in me appreciates the attitude towards alcohol.

Not my go to style, but I enjoyed it.

It was acceptable in the 50’s 3/5

I mean it’s alright.

Goes harder than the Clash. Crystal clear instrumentation and vocals. The title track is definitely the best song on the album. She needs to cultivate a better taste in men.

Album holds up amazingly well Sounds great and has some really nice vibes Just a little samey most of the way through but it doesn't get boring She's got a great voice Sounds like speedy west had a hand in this album I like how it tells a story throughout the album. Love the instrumentation

Nice time. No Emmylou, though! Jokes aside, just more basic and simple. Classic, but vanilla AF

Pleasant

I have heard of this artist and I know of her music. Not really my style. This album name is hilarious. Very country. OG country.

I can’t exactly say I like country music. However, this was a cute and short album to listen to. It was the perfect length, and I think Loretta Lynn has a very pretty voice. Every song was a love song about either being in love or falling out of it, and I thought that keeping that consistency throughout the album worked in its favor. For a country album, this was fairly good. I definitely didn’t hate it.

Guter Country

Kind of nice but I wouldn’t listen again

I am not a big fan of the country music, but surprisingly it was not bad. Especially after all that hip-hop-rap crap I had to listen last time.

Mikið hrikalega hefur greyið verið í óeðlilegum samböndum um ævina. Lögin virðast fjalla um allskonar óæskilega hegðun í mjög dysfunctional sambandi. Ég hafði svolítið gaman að því en efast um að ég hlusti á plötuna aftur.

Country's not really my thing, but it was somewhat interesting

This is pleasant country. Nothing groundbreaking or anything, but pleasant enough. 3.5 rounding down.

Country music is not my thing. MAGA artists are not my thing. Loretta Lynn is not my thing. There's so much about this I don't like, but honestly? If it were on in the background I wouldn't hate it. There's something lonely and broken about it that I appreciate, as long as I don't listen too hard to the lyrics or think too much about Loretta Lynn. This is a tricky one to give a score to, so I'll go right down the middle with a 3, which is generous of me.

Love these old country albums. Lots of lovin and drinkin and leavin and cryin.

chill country

Gets repetitive. Nothing to get excited about. Although surprisingly enjoyable I must admit; maybe because I listened while drunk and half asleep on my floor. Who knows. 3 stars.

Actually really quite enjoyed this one

maybe even a little old for its time, but an enjoyable listen

c: tomorrow never comes

Classic country I like it 3.5

Exceeded expectations. Best of the 3 country albums I've had on the list so far.

A pretty standard classic country album, with warmth and melancholy in equal measure. Didn’t stand out much though.

I definitely like older country

I heard a lot of this kind of music growing up, a little nostalgic. Loretta can sing.

Don't Come Home A Drinkin' (With Lovin' On Your Mind) is an album that doesn't really do anything all that interesting but does the best it can in what it does do. It more or less has the sound that you would expect from a female-sang country album from the 60/70s so like a lot of those, it is a fairly basic album. The songs at least do everything well like having good vocals which is probably the highlight of the album as well as decent music and lyrics. It certainly is a very repetitive album as every song uses only a few formulas (and by a few, i mean 2 or 3) but the album was very short so it wasn't too big of an issue. This album isn't amazing but there is certainly worse out there. Best Song: Don't Come Home A Drinkin' (With Lovin' On Your Mind) Worst Song: Tomorrow Never Comes

Good old fashioned country, although this seems a bit staid considering what else was happening in 1967. Better than new fashioned country.

Not particularly my thing, but decent in terms of country music. 3/5

Stories are messed up and the cheery tunes are ironically juxtaposed. It's a scene I just don't enjoy.

This is all a bit one note, isn’t it?

Classic country album by the Coal Miner’s daughter

Not a bad album all considered. Some pretty cutting edge themes and lyrics for the time (I'd imagine). Some WAP energy on some tracks. Not the best, not horrible... Pretty good. 3/5

i really do not like country, so when i heard the first song, i immediately wanted to turn it off, but thankfully, it got slightly better. ms. loretta has such a beautiful voice and vibrato, and the best way i could describe this album is like being on a beach on an island during the summer—like in the bahamas or hawaii. this will definitely be on my list of summer songs, and i thought the lyrics were very beautiful and poetic. i really enjoyed “tomorrow never comes” and “the shoe goes on the other foot tonight.” as for my #3 favorites, they were “there goes my everything,” “i’m living in two worlds,” and “making plans.” maybe it is because i am a female and the soppy, poetic stuff just gets to me sometimes, or maybe because the 60s were bomb 🥴 but this brought out my inner girlhood. 🩷🎀

Typical old school country music. Kinda all sounds the same but is pleasant enough to listen to. I'll take it over Morgan Wallen any day.

Nice but no exciting

Classic Loretta Lynn — raw, bold, and not afraid to call it like she sees it. Her husband must’ve been a real piece of work, because the frustration and sass in these songs feel very personal. The title track is the clear standout, and while the rest of the album doesn’t quite reach the same level, it still packs plenty of attitude.

Nice listen, no real standouts but a lovely voice and songs. 3

Classic country. Not really a fan but I can recognize its importance.

Reminds me of fallout, in a positive way.

Oh Loretta quit a’whinin’. Lovely voice - over dramatic country songs.

Good but not really my thing. Very provocative lyrics for the time which is really cool to hear.

Traditional country music is pretty far down my list. With the exception to a few, I like it with a little filth and attitude. Nothing wrong with pretty little housewives… just not in my jukebox.

Good traditional country album. Not genre I'm drawn to, for some reason I'm allergic to the sound of slide guitar...at least in this context. But Los voice is angelic and her themes are simple and straightforward and universal...especially in the context of time and place. I'll give it 3 stars but I know it deserves more

This is worth listening just for the slice of life of a world that's gone. Good voice and consistent throughout. Not a masterpiece but it's good to hear as part of a list trying to capture a huge swarh of what is music.

Great example for a genre of music at a time. Solid musicianship. Interesting voice.

5/10 Its...fine...I guess. 3-06-2025

She has an incredible voice and it was pleasant enough (albeit a bit repetitive) to listen to the mellow tunes. Glad I heard it but don't see myself ever putting this on again.

I'm not blown away by this album, but it's worth hearing. Lynn's vocal delivery is strong and heartfelt, and the lyrics are good regardless of who wrote them. Musically it's pretty standard for country at the time, but I'd rather listen to it than what passes for country now.

Country legend. Respect.

Love and Liquor don't mix - too true Loretta. a pissed off Dolly Parton who had enough shit from her useless man

This was nostalgic for me. I remember listening to Loretta and similar music with my grandparents (on the rare occasions they did listen to music) in the car on their farm. Not something I’d keep in normal rotation, but I enjoyed it

Ooh wee that guitar tone! Just shredding back there behind Loretta. Young Alex would have laughed at this. But the older I get the more I appreciate this version of country. The moral of this album is don't fuck with Loretta Lynn.

She has such a lovely voice. Album gets a few points off for being a bit one-note, but it’s a note I enjoy. Sent me down a classic country rabbit hole so I had a good day

Never listened to anything quite like this before. If that were today someone would be calling for an intervention in her relationship. But hey, they were stoic, stick with it times, and she seemed quite baddass with it. So I rather enjoyed it in a fascinating snippet in history type of way.

Hurt people hurt people

Solides Country Album mit passender Frauen Stimme, die nach Land und Leute im Country der Mid60er klingt. Nett zu hören aber nicht spektakulär, „Tomorrow Never Come“.

I’m surprised by how short the songs are. I enjoy the story telling. I can feel the emotion conveyed by Loretta, and I wonder if she composed all of the songs herself. I’d probably listen to this album while driving or cooking.

Ja, dit is dus echt paint by the numbers country muziek. Haat ik dit? Nee zeker niet. Hou ik hiervan? Ook absoluut niet. Teksten zijn wel echt Z W A A R depressief zeg, jezus. FAVO: There goes my everything, the shoe goes on the other foot tonight

A capital C Country album to listen to if you’re heartbroken and/breaking hearts.

eig ganz nett für soa uraltes country-ish album, aber glaub würds nit noamal hören

You know how the preacher's kid is always the one that gets in the most trouble? The girl with the slutty mom is the bookish "good girl" in the class? Teenage rebellion is REAL! Well, I grew up in Nashville so the laws of adolescence prevented me from listening to country music (or wearing cowboy boots). I'd never listened to this album. It's great! Every contributing musician to this work is world class.

Maybe the lyrics don't hold up very well in certain areas, and yeah maybe she was a Trumper, but it's still a charming classic country album. In the words of a certain Christopher Nolan Batman villain: "That's a lovely lovely voice.."

This... didn't hit the spot for me - nice background music, but very un-memorable and samey. Husband definitely shouldn't be an alcoholic though... that sounds problematic.

Fine. Decent twangness, but a little bland. I know Loretta is a legend so I must have missed something with this album or been in the wrong mood or something.

Old school country

she’s good but at some point it becomes the same sound? could i write poetry to this? n

All this time, I thought it was "Don't Come Home FROM Drinkin'", not "A-Drinkin'" Looks like I learned something new.

She's got a great voice, but the twang starts to grind, and I just don't love country music.

Loretta, you sassy little minx. Interesting to hear a song from this era so flat out claim it was her time to step out on a relationship. Ultimately a pretty basic album, great vocals and ripping slide guitar, but very same-same overall.

Loretta walked so Dolly could run

It’s another country album, and another post-single era album that seems to have a single and then half an hour of filler to make it LP-length. Lynn’s voice is amazing, and the twanging country backing is nice enough, but it really is just more country. I can’t possibly say that this is anything more than ‘good’. The title track is enjoyable (given it lended its name to the album) and Get What’cha Got and Go was surprisingly good against the general country haze of the remainder of the album, but that’s all there is to it. Of course, it’s not trying to be anything more than a simple country album for your American Dream home stereo system, and in that respect it does very well.

Solid Country, good voice, sometimes too much...themes are always the same (wrong men apparantly)

Some fun tunes!!

Old country twang is very much not my style, but I have to acknowledge that Loretta Lynn was very talented - and for the style, this album has great variety (upbeat and slow).

Ehhhhhhhh, not really a fan of this one. I wouldn't say it's bad, but it teeters the line between ok and just plain boring. Idk, consider me filtered I guess lol Low 6

Lowly country, sad and thick, not something I’d put on often but I think her voice and the instrumentals lead this album well. 2.7

I'm enjoying listening to essential classic country albums through this project. I didn't know anything about Loretta Lynn or any of her songs before this. She has a great voice and this is a good collection of songs. It's interesting that she was once a feminist icon releasing a song like The Pill in 1975, but now supports the party actively working to take women's rights away with her full chest. I'm still rating this 3 stars as I'd planned, but that's incredibly disappointing.

This might be the most Country album title of all time. Short enough to save it being a 2

There’s not a lotta lovin’ going on after I come home a drinkin’ tbf. Prefer Lurleens tunes tbf. Simpsons: The character of Lurleen Lumpkin is kind of based on her.

Pleasant album, good length so I didn't get bored.

I did like it, but it wasn't a groundbreaking experience.

Simple, bright, and doesn't overstay its welcome. Great iconic voice backed by sunny instrumentals. Rating: 3.5

I'm not really a country fan, but wow! Loretta can sing!

Ui gad nomol country He sie singt crazy guet aber es lauft sich scho chli tot

a rym genre tag on this is "Honky Tonk". this is gonna suck shit so bad im not excited to listen to this girl get a divorce im beggin you

real good. i wrote a whole review but it got deleted

Good country, altho would get a bit repetitive towards the end.

Great tunes.

Loretta Lynn’s vocals are an absolute classic, I’m always pleased to hear her voice. The music is well-produced and the entire album sounds spotless. At a certain point, I desire more of a raw sound when it comes to country, so this album doesn’t do a ton for me. But enjoyable nonetheless.

Worth a listen.

She probably gathered a lot of attention back in the day for some of these songs.

Country music generally isn't my thing, but I do enjoy some of this older stuff.

Songs were short, her voice is perfect for country. Subject matter and songs themselves got a little repetitive/boring.

I like this for the good, old fashioned country music that it is. Lots great lap steel playing, and Lynn has got one of those classic country voices. 3.4/5

Decent album. Not really my genre. I do respect it though. 3/5

Нормально, но не сильно мое

It wasn’t bad, but hard to get too excited about.

De la musique respectable, mais ultimement que je me demande en quoi ça se démarque de tellement d'autres albums country. 6/10

I enjoyed the singing, though the sound overall felt a bit repetitive to me. Favorites: Saint to a sinner, I'm living in two worlds

A legendary and pioneering country singer. No surprise to see one of her albums in this list. Is this the best one? I don't know. An album full of hurtin' songs.

Sure whatever

Enjoyable traditional country music with an emphasis on the pedal steel sound.

Short and sweet. Nothing great. This is in that 2-3 range and I'll round up for its brevity.

Love the album cover looking like a cookbook from the 50s that probably specializes in Ham Jell-o Salad. This is definitely music that stay at home housewives used to listen absolutely nuked off of Valium while cooking the aforementioned salad.

4 for her voice, 2 for the repetitive nature of the songs. 1 for all the men mentioned.

Very country western! She has a nice voice but definitely uses too much vibrato. Also, all the songs sounded kind of the same.

There's something so comfortable and enjoyable about 50s & 60s country, like a warm blanket on a cold day.

Loretta. Go to marriage therapy cuz writing an album in spite of your spouse is NOT THE WAY TO GO. You’ve gotta diversify your lyrics more too.

Surprisingly I kind of liked this. She has a nice voice. Harmonization was beautiful.

Solid classic country song writing with the most twangy vocals and instrumentation. Dinosaur!

I imagine Lurleen Lumpkin in the Simpsons. While this is good and very entertaining it’s extremely one note. The whole album is basically one long song.

Very country and very western. It was the perfect length for a single spin but this kind of music annoys me in longer doses.

Back when women in country had a backbone.

oooooo country girlie break up with him

The least country-sounding country album title ever.

u can tell from a mile away that its mostly meant to be a showcase for a great voice, but it Is a great voice, with great performance decisions thruout as well. idk enough about country music to know how to judge the backing players....they seem fine but if theres anything great going on there its wasted on me. this goes rly hard on the sad and mistreated lady vibe for the most part which even considering the short length does lose momentum after a while. its v cool that three of the most memorable tracks (especially in terms of lyrical perspective) have a writing credit from lynn herself!

It's all the same. Darlin'

Bonus tracks for the album: If you’re gunna cheat, at least do it to my face Winners never cheat, but cheaters never lose Cheat cheat (it’s all you do (but I love you))

It’s fine. Whatever.

Decently enjoyable but the songs all sound the same

A good country record with a great lady lead and a fantastic guitar player. Grady Martin is my new hero! The songs didn't quite make it to 4 star quality for me but it was close. I understand why some people find this kind of music hard to listen to - it's from a forgotten era in many ways and the subject matter seems kind of foreign sometimes, let alone the sonic aesthetic which is so far removed from the 'country' vibe of the last few decades. Still I agree with the book blurb this is a brave and courageous record from a brave and courageous woman.

Nice country album, though it is not a genre I particularly care for. Her vocal performance stands out which is stellar.

One of the greats. A voice that just sings that stereotypical country music sound. Now I just need to find my jug, sit on a log and listen to songs about women being wronged. And forget she was a Trumper.

Pretty much what I was expecting. Great album length.

Cute fun and I like it but doesn’t do anything crazy for me. 7/10

I know Vardaan’s gonna like the length of this one

Listened to this after Xtina's Stripped and it was a very interesting comparison of female empowerment in different eras. It's good old fashioned country. Lorreta's got just the voice, diction, and charm you think she does with words that'll cut

Didn’t think I enjoyed this at all. But looking back I also saved 3 tracks from the album. What does that tell us? I have no idea so I’m going with my gut. I didn’t enjoy it at all. 2.9

it was nice but it was mamaw music

grandma music for sure. enjoyed it

Really nice country singer songwriter tunes. She's got that wonderful dynamic country range from smooth up to saturated and sharp. It's a lovely sound that is immediately enjoyable to me. The title track is the standout by a long shot. I'd consider rating this one higher if this record had more of those tracks on it. The others aren't necessarily bad, but I think a bit more forgetful than the title. I can tell that she influenced one of my favorite singers a lot, Nicole Atkins. Fun to listen to her for years and years and then now get a chance to listen to Loretta Lynn and hear some of the lineage in the vocal sound. I love these classic album covers; it's like half photograph half painting (can't really tell!), with some non-flashy text on it.

typical country music

Great example of great old style country. Not my cup of tea, but far better than todays pseudo country rap garbage.

Loretta Lynn was country with a capital "C" and this is the type of classic country that I would have heard growing up. Short and sweet, this was an easy listen and as much as I enjoyed the album, I don't think it reached 4 stars. 3.5/5

woman's album about stereotypical men

First song is a banger, the rest just meander after that for the next 25 minutes. She has a nice voice, but nothing else really stands out. Little to say.

La verdad disfruté todo el álbum, pero tampoco siento que cosas muy interesantes pasen, country setentero de su momento.

Great country album

Enjoyable and a comforting sound, but also after the first two songs I felt like the songwriting was not interesting

Classic of it's kind I suppose, but doesn't really resonate with me

Individual songs are great, but they all sound the same back to back.

Lovesick country songs with a very lovely voice.

This is so cool! The production is a product of the time in the best way possible with the exaggerated panning and the particular instruments used. The songwriting is a huge focus on this album and it stands out quite significantly. While some of the songs get a bit same-y in the bloated track list, it’s all still quite pleasant!

Solid album, but not my jam.

You tell him girl 💅

Solid Loretta album

It's alright, but that's such a funny name for an album.

Pretty solid, not really my thing though

Sounds typical country music and I tend to find that listenable but not that interesting

Straight up old school country ditties. Honestly I’m not hearing anything special in her voice and am hoping hard that Patsy Cline is on this list. Wait! A Google search says there is no Patsy Cline album on this list?! TRAVESTY

me before listening to the first song: why do i have to listen to this :( me after listening to the first song: 🤠 🎸🎸🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸 👇 🎸 🎸 👇 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸 👢 👢

she's got a really good voice! it's not my genre still but this time around it's at least pleasant to listen to. it just really puts it into perspective i feel, songwriting techniques in country pop music didn't really change ever even today, there's a lot of songs i can imagine being written and produced, like... now. just take modern country music but literally have the exact song structure and you've got yourself pretty much a similar experience. very romantic.

Heel leuk maar heb wel zin in wat anders dan die 60s songwriters

Not a big fan of country (especially older honkytonk stuff like this) but I have heard of Loretta Lynn. It’s filled with the country tropes you expect - poverty, relationship problems, retribution.. incredible voice is the main focus, and tasteful backing music staying just below the surface. Definite parallels to Elvis, Dolly Parton, June Carter.. 2.5/5

No fist city, no the pill. Minus two stars.

quite repetitive even if the songs were fun, both musically and lyrically. also one has to wonder, does this woman LIKE any of the men she's been with? dont know if it's an album i had to hear before i die.

No canta Put Your Hand In The Hand ni Please Help Me I'm Falling (In Love With You). Country.

Kinda catchy songs that sound fairly simple, but nice use of passing chords to keep everything from being I, IV, V.

Fine, I suppose, but nothing special to this album, and the Wikipedia entry for this album, spartan as it is, reinforces my question about why this album for Loretta Lynn? Listening to this album, though, made me think again about what it must be like to be the backing (studio?) band for someone like Loretta Lynn, where the focus is almost exclusively on her, her voice and the lyrics. There's some variety in the songs' music, but not all that much, and nothing that sounds to me like it would excite a band player. Hopefully it paid the bills, though!

Was expecting some smooth Patsy Cline-ish country but instead I got the usual country rockish tunes and vibes that didn't age well.

It's repetitive and songs about relationships I generally find pretty boring, but i'm sure this woulda been a progressive femininst album in its time and these tracks woulda been absolute anthems back in the day for all the women stuck with shitty men in shitty relationships. Not something i'd pop on but appreciated the listen.

Nothing standout for me but did enjoy these my-man-aint-shit country ballads. Two and a half. Fave track: I'm Living in Two Worlds

Послушала вчера, сегодня не помнила настолько, что пришлось переслушивать) Приятная классическая американская музыка

Country clásico
