Reviews (page 7 of 12)

Production: 12/20 Songwriting: 13/20 Innovation: 6/20 Bangers: 20/20 Emotional response: 15/20 =66 A rollicking good one this

There are a lot of bright poppy hits on this album, and it's just very youthful and fun!! "Sitting Up Straight", "Mansize Rooster" and "I'd Like to Know" are great new finds beyond the obviously awesome singles.

Never knew the song "Alright" was by them. Genuinely enjoyable album. A poppy-punk vibe. Great listening.

I've only ever heard Alright before

I can't not see Gaz Coombes talking to Ali G about "Super-grass". The whole Britpop thing is a bit of a mystery to me, I know all the classics but haven't really pored through the albums before. I was actually pretty surprised and pleased with this. It somehow sends me back to a time in the 90s that I was too young to remember or experience in any meaningful way. It's gives us some hope, we've suffered through 16 years of Tory bullshit, but Blair is on the horizon, who we naively believe to be basically Jesus Christ who plays guitar instead of wasting his time on carpentry. Separate note: Martyn, after reading your review I listened to The Mouse and the Mask - what an incredible album!

relaxed und recht nice, such als Hintergrund gedudel oder beim Lesen bleibt aber nicht so wirklich im Kopf also 4/5

1995. Key Songs: Alright, Mansize Rooster

thank you 1001 albums for the two 1995 britpop albums in a row. theres at least one more too./ wha tthe heck!!! anyway this is significantly better than different class, much more consistent, more good songs. not quite a 9 still but i could see myself relistening to this one much sooner. "alright" is excellent. theres a ton of other jams here. were not supposed to is weirdly pitched up. fucking nightcore shitg. for some reason the production on this album makes it sound like its from the 60s. album cover reinforces this vibe since it looks kinda 50s. anyway great album

there's really smth about british male rockbands

Thanks

FAVO: Alright, Strange ones

Aye it was better than their other album I'll give them that. Not really my kinda thing but it's fine. It's fineee.

I'm glad I'm doing a 2nd listen; just another English alt. band now has 3-4 songs in my rotation and the whole album is growing on me. Solid 3. Lose It, Strange Ones, Time, Sofa (Of My Lethargy) if you're wondering.

Lots of cool songs, but it's just too... busy? I don't know. Alright.

not mad at the brits

It's fun, it's energetic, it's 90s britpop. It's lost on me why I should hear this album as opposed to the hundreds of others from its time.

Unusually good britpop album. I really liked it and the hit song is always a right fit for a party. 3/5

A crazy fast and energetic record. I felt infused with electricity listening to it.

Idag lærte jeg Alright av Supergrass. Klar for musikkquiz!

fun and I liked the sounds of it, but a bit annoying

This record is energetic and captures the coming of age feeling almost perfectly. While the second half wasn’t that great, the beginning was actually insane and sooo fun, the songs varied from one another while still creating a cohesive whole. The riffs on this album are catchy and the vocalist embodies the teenage spirit perfectly!

One super famous song and the rest of it is a bit weird but I would listen to it.

This is all right - nothing to write home about, honestly.

I had never heard of Supergrass before. The record isn't bad—a colorful mix of punk, Britpop, and the Beatles.

Fun listen

You shouldn't judge a book by its cover but I really dislike this album cover. At least the music is good.

I liked about half of it. The other half not so much. My favorites were She’s so Loose and Sofa (Of My Lethargy)

Have loved their second album for years. But for some reason I never listened to this, their debut, before now. On first listen (on Friday), I didn’t find the appeal - too much like early 80s punk for my liking, and Tracks 1-3 all sounded like one long single song). But liked it more by Sunday. And Alright is an anthem obviously.

Good album overall, but some tracks hugely overplayed.

A couple of great songs but little else that grabbed me.

6.5/10

Fun! Nice British indie. Recording and mix sounds trash though

I liked this. I enjoy Britpop from the 90's. I love and own Alright. I liked the songs Strange Ones and We're Not Supposed To.

solid enough 2nd tier Britpop, could have been a 4 but let itself down with some nonsense towards the end

Fine, nothing grabbed me (but Alright is a tune)

I only like the one song on the album, rest not so much!

Very good energy and pace. ★★★

I started listening to this and really didn't think it was any good at the beginning. The first three songs were pretty bad and my instant thought was, "I've never heard of these guys and now I know why." Then Alright came on and I was like, "I've heard this song!" And it was almost like the album changed at that point from being terrible to having some value. The songs just got better. Not that it was ever amazing, but Alright, Lose It, Time, She's So Loose, and Lenny were all solid tracks. 3 stars.

It’s fun, some really catchy tunes. I think this probably made a big impact in the mid-90s garage rock revival type era.

For britpop, it's decent.

Fun album. Derived from mid-60s British Invasion, specifically the Kinks, they seem like Green Day from across The Pond. Lots of youthful energy in a pop-punk style. Ply’s they have a song that shares my name, so they got that going for them.

I recently decided that, after this project, I’m going to put all the 4s and 5s on my vinyl “to buy” list. Looking at this album through this lens: I liked it, but don’t need it on vinyl. That a three.

British alt-rock

6.0/10

This is better than i want it to be. It’s not the kind of music I like (lightly punk inspired happy punk). But the sheer joy & energy they play with earns them a 3. Wish i liked the genre better.

Solid 90s alt rock sound. But come on… we really have room for 2 “Supergrass” albums with some of the stuff that’s left off this list???

I really enjoyed several of the songs. Alright and Were not suppose to were my favorites

An interesting mix of rock, and pop. Pretty good.

Interessante

Kinda wish each song was about 10% stronger.

wish this were like 10-20% more punk

A fun album that probably doesn't belong on this list, by my reckoning.

Not too bad for britpop, some high energy rock songs here.

Pretty nice.

Another mid-90s poppy, punky, dance-y power trio band. This album has the single "Alright" which was used in the movie Clueless, and in an overplayed advertisement for some big company I don't remember. Reminds me a little of Los Campesinos or Bis only without the twee.

A couple good ones but a lot of mid ones.

Not bad, felt a little different than the other britpop we’ve had but there were no standouts for me. Jangly and British.

Very 60s influenced. Fine but not memorable. I'd prefer Oaisis.

It was a fun listen. Not for my tastes necessarily yet fun. Never heard of the band though.

I always do like when an album has a song that you’ve heard a million times but never knew the origin of I did like this one for the most part, there’s some nice songs on here, just some good ole alternative with an aggressively British spin. Alright is super catchy (even though apparently the band hates it and refuse to play it at their shows) and most of the rest of the setlist is above average. There’s some solid guitar riffs in there, the vocals grew on me even though I usually don’t care for vocalists with a cartoonish British accent, and it really does have a lot of soul; it just feels personal at times Biggest two problems I have with this album are the variety and one particularly nasty song. I don’t think in a vacuum the variety is awful, but skip to the middle section of every song and tell me they don’t all sound exactly the same. The song is question, We’re not Supposed To, is just awful, truly bad enough to bring down the album as a whole. Respect to them for collaborating with a musical group as influential as Alvin and the Chipmunks, but man what the hell was that. At least it was over quick Definitely more good than bad in this one, but I don’t think anything in this one really makes it stand out from the swaths of 90s alternative other than the one big hit.

13 songs Added to liked: -Alright (knew the song)

I liked it, but its not something that will be going in the rotation. Alright is a banger though, and so is the second to last track. Thought a lot of the vocal delivery sounded like The Monks and it kinda flicked me.

Bright and fun, just like the lead single. Will have on regular rotation to cheer myself up. Need to spend more time with it. I suspect my rating will go up on it.

This was pretty okay. Not sure I'll go back to it much, but 3.5-ish

As much s I love Supergrass, I've seen them multiple times, the stuff they did later on is what I fell for. This is a good britpop album with some outstanding tracks, but a great album it is not.

Day 43 — Supergrass — I Should Coco (1995) Listened: May 14–22, 2026 Genre: Britpop / Indie Rock / Power Pop Vibe: Loud, fast, and irreverent — three teenagers pulling from the Kinks, early Beatles, and the Buzzcocks simultaneously without picking a lane, and somehow making it work. Highlights: • I'd Like to Know • Mansize Rooster • Alright • Strange Ones • She's So Loose ★ Time • Sofa (Of My Lethargy) Impression: Refreshing after a rough stretch of albums. The genre-hopping energy kept it interesting — punk one minute, pop-funk the next. Alright is the obvious standout but Time is the one that stuck. Enjoyable, unpretentious, and exactly what it needed to be. Rating: 3.4/5 Keep songs? Yes Revisit album? Yes

Decent alternative rock album.

This was fine. I expected to hate it as it is britpop and I usually don't like it that much, but I didn't mind this. Nothing exciting at all, I wouldn't turn off the radio if this came on, but I wouldn't search for it myself.

A catchy album, unfortunatly it's not really my cup of tea because there're a lot of sounds at once. But cool music though.

Overall too Gaga. Because of the well-known "Alright" I give it the weak three stars. 2,5

Had like 2 or 3 great songs the rest I wouldn’t say is as good. 6/10

No queda guardado.

Alright may be the only reason so many people know about this album, and for the most part I would say that is pretty valid, but the 1001 Albums to Hear Before You Die list thinks this is essential listening so I guess I'll have to give it a listen now... Supergrass is not a band I am super familiar with and after hearing this project I don't think it will ever be one I will be super into as their Britpop sound is quite basic if I am being honest. Outside of the iconic Alright I'd say that She's So Loose and Time are the only two other songs here worth listening to as everything else is just good but not much else. Also what the fuck was We're Not Supposed To? That song sounds so out of place and like such a drastic shift in tone/style that it throws off anything this album had going for it in a heartbeat. I Should Cuco is a solid album but far from anything to write home about and tell people they need to hear. It is good, but that's about it man.

Pretty good but not as good as their album I got from here the other day.

I suppose this is Brit Pop. Alright jumped out - an era defining single of fine qui. Otherwise this album was ok, nothing to write home about.

Although I quite like this album, I don’t think it’s stood the test of time as well as some other, more notable Britpop releases of the ’90s. Of course, Alright was a massive hit, and there are other strong tracks here too, like She’s So Loose and Caught by the Fuzz, but overall, I found it to be a little repetitive.

It’s fine I guess

Lots of this album has me thinking “why haven’t I heard this before?!” And other parts were that very British style of song that feels like a kids show tune.

I really liked the beginning of the album there’s was okay

No. 178 Quite good. Quite fun. Full of youth

My favourite song on this first listen was "She's So Loose". I am torn between rating this a 3 or a 4. There were some amazing moments in the album, but I'd probably have to listen to it again in order to decide to give it a 4/5. So, for now, I'm leaning towards 3/5.

It’s not bad but it’s one of so many indie albums

1 - I'd Like to Know (raucous and punky in its opening and it even includes a keyboard! This opener reminds me very much of a Cardiacs song. It thrashes around and hits the listener over the head with its absolute maximalist sound. Promising enough as an opener) 4/5 2 - Caught by the Fuzz (driven by an intense bassline, this one thrashes around for about 2 minutes and some. It reminds me of trashing a room just to feel something. Very old-school punk in its aesthetic and attitude) 3.5/5 3 - Mansize Rooster (apparently one of their better known songs; I personally know nothing of this band. Lyrics are somewhat absurd and don't really have much to do with one another. This one is alright I guess) 3.5/5 4 - Alright (easily this band's best known song and for good reason. This is the softest and poppiest track so far - granted, we're only 4 tracks in. It fits right in with the poppy alt rock of its era and actually works very well by using its sardonic lyrics and upbeat instrumentation. A song for a day at the beach) 4/5 5 - Lose It (there's a weird whistle note screech at the start followed by a burning hot riff that underpins everything. This one feels 60s inspired, a callback to the garage rock era that paved the way for punk a decade later. I actually like this one quite a bit for that vintage quality and the massive stonery guitar) 4/5 6 - Lenny (the super repetitive intro makes you feel like the tape skipped, but the old-school hard rock riff comes in and gets you bouncing soon after that. This one is very surf-rock and again takes its cues from its predecessors; this is definitely an album that wears its influences on its sleeves) 3.5/5 7 - Strange Ones (for some reason I can't stop imaging Peter Garrett singing this song. I guess with how "ordinary" it is compared to the previous fare, Midnight Oil would do something like this as a deep cut. That aside it's actually quite good as a mid-tempo crushing middle section comes in before the more upbeat choruses. The solos are an added bonus for this one. All in all a good song to mark the halfway point of this album) 3.5/5 8 - Sitting Up Straight (rapid fire lyrics over a thrashing beat recall Cardiacs once again. No British band has ever sounded quite so Australian as they do on this track. The chorus is an alt rock delight and honestly could have gotten radio play. Brief and succinct, it uses up its every second very effectively) 4/5 9 - She's So Loose (we get some almost jazzy strummed chords on this one(?) The vocal performance is also much cleaner than on previous tracks, which is a welcome change for an album that's been rather straightforward so far. Like some others, this song alternates between a slower breakdown before returning to the fast pace of its verse-chorus structure. This one is probably the high point of the album for me) 4.5/5 10 - We're Not Supposed To (more strummed guitar as a sort of flamenco tribute. The voices are oddly pitched up and vaguely remind me of some 60s mod music (think debut era Bowie, or something like Herman's Hermits...) This utterly bizarre piece makes me think of a hotel in a tropical resort where some crazy shit is happening in everyone's view but the hotel staff try desperately to distract everyone from it, whatever it might be. Points for that hilarious visual) 4/5 11 - Time (an honest-to-God blues rocker on this otherwise very punk song? I really like how this album has such distinct halves. The second half is where this band's talents really get to shine, such an eclectic mix of sounds on this half and proof they could do more than punk thrashers, which is how this album is probably remembered) 4.5/5 12 - Sofa of My Lethargy (I'm not entirely sure how to gauge this one. It has the psychedelic feeling and appropriate lyrics, yet it also develops into a piano rock anthem 90 seconds in before simmering back down again. It continues as a largely instrumental jam from that point on, so this is their kitchen-sink song I suppose. It would actually work very well as a closer, though there's a song following it, and I do like the interplay between the organ and piano towards the end. An intriguing track) 4/5 13 - Time to Go (feather light and acoustic, this is the comedown song and the succinct outro this wild half of the album sorely needs. It ties up the general album well too. I'm impressed by the quality throughout this record, even on the less memorable songs) 3.5/5 OVERALL - 7.7/10

Alright!

Pretty catchy british Garage Indie Rock. The album I mostly outshined by the hit single.

Weird but in a good way!

Perfectly fine alt rock with a couple of catchy choruses, can't imagine I would listen to it over similar rock groups

Had a couple bangers

Another one I have listened to! To be fair, I need to revisit this. But off the top of my head, I will say that in the Britpop world, Supergrass are UNDERRATED!! They are much faster and quicker than their peers, especially with tracks like "Sitting up Straight" and the opener "I'd like to know." The second half slows down quite a bit, and I think that "she's so loose" and "Sofa (of my lethargy)" are great. Def need to revisit LOOOL ok

Wenz: Not the type of music I always listen to, but surprisingly I heard about “Alright” before listening to this album

I recognized a couple songs, album is ok. 2.5 stars

I’ve heard Alright before but I don’t mind the sound of some of their other songs. Decent album overall.

Surprisingly fun for a britpop album

This was pretty chill. It was nice to hear a full body of work by the folks who made 'Alright', which definitely gives lake or beach vibes. Unfortunately, I probably won't listen again if I’m being honest. It is what it is, lol.

From the first note, I thought this was going to be too noisey for me, but I was wrong and it is great. It doesn’t wear out its welcome and is amusing with how it stats consistent and references itself. Very enjoyable listen

9/10 for songs 4/10 for album cover High 3/5 overall

.greggrtghuyg

Good rock. Gets better by each song.

A bit of Simple Minds' flair, but it feels like it's stuck in one gear throughout. I enjoyed it, there are some great tracks here. But it's a bit too one-dimensional for my tastes. Spins: 1 Playlist Additions - Perfect Skin - Rattlesnakes - Are You Ready To Be Heartbroken?

I think if I grew up with this album I would really like it, it has a solid rock driven sound with a punk influence. It did feel a bit simple or mundane at times, kind of what you expect but not much more. If I listened to it a few times my rating would probably grow.

I liked this a lot more than the last Supergrass album that was generated. There's a frenetic energy and a bit of a punk feel to some of these songs. This album does seem similarly frontloaded though; I feel like it loses some steam in the second half

British 90s pop alt rock. Not bad. I can see how she people could really get into it. I was left with a meh. Morning there for me to latch onto and go "yeah that was awesome". But it was still very listenable. Eh...

Finally, a completely fresh listen to an artist I didn't know before. Let's see where this one goes. Not the biggest fan of the opening track, but I've heard worst. From a purely sonic standpoint, I'm enjoying it so far, although the mix is a bit too bassy for my personal taste. Otherwise really nice and crunchy though. I'm interested if they keep that high octance energy of the first track going throughout the whole record. Not so fresh of an artist after all, as soon as "Alright" dropped, I realized that I did know a song of them beforehand. Great track as a sort of breather within all of that punky energy. They really did a great job with placing little breathing pauses either within the songs themselves, or by placing slower paced songs at the right spots. Solid record overall. Not my favourite of all time or anything, but solid nonetheless.

Good example of post grunge and where 90's alt rock was headed

Was '90s alternative all just the same? This album is fine. The tracks are fine. Nothing horrible. Some good moments. This band is okay, but they are emblematic of the era.

not bad not great 3/5

This is not bad, but I'm sorry, I think one album from these guys is enough really. Decent stuff, probably same as the other album on the list in terms of stars, that is 3

"I Should Coco" is full of energetic, youthful, Britpop songs.

ładne

Suena lindo.

You can definitely hear the influence of this album in bands like the Hives, the Vines, Blur and a lot of the other British garage punk bands who came out in the late 90s, early 2000s. While i can’t deny this albums influence, I will say, this isn’t my sound.

Pretty good, Alright is an all-timer, though I'm not sure it's as hooky or adventurous as some of the other Britpop albums of the time.

TIL there are limits to how much Britpop I can take. Too Oasisy, not Blurry enough. I don't even much like that one damn song from Clueless.

Kind of fun punk-ish rock, with a song that I didn’t realize was by them, but overall just a bog-standard album

It's fine.

“Alright” is a pretty great song. Nothing else here appeals to me quite as much, though “Lose It” and “Lenny” may come close. Mostly: pleasant enough, not profound. 3.5? I was definitely not paying attention to Britpop in 1994—or any other time. I’m happy to have had a reason to listen to this

This was fine I guess. I was hoping for something a little heavier. I’d rather listen to The Black Album.

Like it 3/5

Favorite Track: Sofa (Of My Lethargy) Least Favorite Track: Lenny

had much fun listeniing to this one. great vibe

Solid surfer punk music 🤟

*Alright is great and a song I didn't realize I knew from Supergrass *Many songs have great energy, but then it also slows at times

Lose It

I enjoy3d this. Need to remember to listen to it again sometime

It was a little much for me today, but if I was feeling more hyped, I could see myself enjoying it more.

Chillie. Beetje repetitive, maar wel fijn. Where's the women though??? Het is al dagen lang mannen, mannen, mannen, let's switch it uuuuuupp.

No conocia, bien. Me econtré con un hit

Very enjoyable. There's some surf, some "space rock", definitely some '90s britpop (duh), punk leanings and a little Ween thrown in to offset some Beatles. Fun album.

I like Supergrass, this was fun.

Other than Alright, there's not much there.

Not my in my go to britpop albums but pleasant enough.

2.7/5 Nothing too amazing but I did enjoy alot of the songs. Im sure with a few more listens I could get around it more but it's decent enough.

Ah, the mid to late 90’s… I was big into Britpop, trying to learn to play the guitar. But strangely never really got into Supergrass. Well, I prefer their later songs from the self titled album. I could feel myself getting drawn into this record, as I did with Parklife, or What’s the Story… Obviously the big hit Alright isn’t too bad, and there’s some good highlights, but I feel I have to give this a three and move on to the next. Standout track - Strange Ones

Very 90's punk. Didn't hate it. Entertaining and not too long of an album.

Great album, great energy and sound. I had heard alright before in movies but overall solid album

Pretty generic.

it's ok but nothing memorable in particular except she's so loose, i liked that song

The single was all right (see what I did there) but the rest was too bouncy for me, didn’t hold my attention.

Not their best work. It’s not bad, but it comes across as mostly bland and doesn’t leave much of an impression. “Alright” is a good track, but it doesn’t really sound like the rest of the album, and honestly, it feels more like a classic rock song dropped into the middle of it.

3.5! Like Devo, MCR, and The Fratellis’ 90s Brit pop punk cousin.

Alright is an ultimate good vibes track Clueless Otherwise decent Brit pop with a variety of sound throughout

One of the better Britpop albums, not amazing for me though personally. There’s some pretty solid songs on here, and I might need to listen to more albums, but this one’s pretty all right. Three stars.

No private session used for Spotify. Fun album had a couple of great songs. Probably not going to make in on heavy rotation, but should listen to again.

i really liked the last two songs on the album “sofa (of my lethargy” and “time to go”. just for those two songs i’ll keep the album in my library.

Solid, Alright and CBTF are fantastic, but they went on to make much better singles and albums later on

Yllättävänkin kiva britpop/altrock -levy. Yks hittibiisi selkeesti, ku tunnistin välistä. Ei moitittavaa, mut ei myöskään suuremmin herättäny tunteita. Meni taustalla oikein sujuvasti.

Playful, effervescent Britpop. Good, not great. Top tunes: “Alright,” “Caught by the Fuzz”

Final thoughts: I was skeptical after the first three songs; each felt very similar. but these guys were able to throw a couple breaking pitches to keep things interesting. ******************************************************************************* --I'd Like to Know...not a banger but I like the energy --Caught by the Fuzz...see above --Mansize Rooster...see above. again --Alright...hello, Clueless. a welcome change of pace. --Lose It...similar to the first three tracks but I enjoy this one a little more. a better groove, maybe? --Lenny...enjoy the bass/drum interplay --Strange Ones...some interesting movements --Sitting Up Straight...fun speed rock --She's so Loose...builds to a satisfying conclusion --We're Not Supposed To...something slightly more psychedelic? it's kind of cute --Time...real nice groove to this one. Coombes is in good voice. harmonica adds a nice flavor --Sofa (of My Lethargy)...not good enough to be seven minutes --Time to Go...lazy river floating

I was like "Oh yeah, I know that song!" Then the rest of the album happened and it was just okay.

Strong

Some nostalgic moments here and I haven't listened to this one in ages. The good tracks are good but lots of filler here.

2026.03.20

I feel like this is probably not bad, but I really just don't care about it that much. It feels like the same sort of stuff I heard from a bunch of other 90s bands, but they didn't do it as well as those other bands did. And it feels like it runs long, even at only 40 minutes. Just a very meh album to me. Favorites: Alright, Lenny, Time to Go

hey it was better than expected hey

Horror show album cover. Solid to above average Brit Pop musically. A pleasant listen but certainly not indispensable.

I enjoyed this way more than I expected to. When I saw this was Britpop I was unsure, as sometimes that genre really does not connect with me. However it really did on this one. I like the theme of exploring outsiders, and the songs feel like anthems for them. The album seems to get a little more experimental structure wise as it goes along, which would occasionally catch me off guard but I grew to like it. Just a lot of really fun songs, liked this.

Decent britpop. Tight instrumentals. Catchy. Good energy

Fave songs: mansize rooster and alright

This was decent but nothing special, again I liked the back half a lot more. Front half was a bit generic but the last few tracks were nice and calm

2.6 2x

it's a fun album, but surprised to see it on this list

i like

Occasionally fun. Never earthshaking and kind of forgettable outside of learning where Alright came from and who sang it. How much Brit pop is on this list again?

I was a fan back in the day…the single still hits the rest is meh

Not bad, quite fun but not essential listening. Gaz Coombes has a great voice, great songwriting but just not for me

Was torn between and 3 & 4 rating for this album. Some of it really rocked, some of it sounded like noise, some of it I itched to skip. Nice variety between the songs as well. I think I'll give it a 3 because I'm likely not going to come back to this one. (3)

Today I learned who did that "Alright" song I hear all the time in British stuff set in the 90's. As some have said the first four songs on here are absolute bangers. Is it the best Britpop album? No, we've already established that is Blur Parkline. It is a great representation of the genre and honestly a band that I would listen to again but maybe not add their records to my physical collection.

not particularly interesting

some interesting parts nearer to the end, but overall quite average

I found this to be above average throughout, but not really a “great” album. I enjoyed hearing the song from the Clueless soundtrack and overall enjoyed listening, but it was immediately forgettable outside of “Alright”.

High end 3. Enjoyed this pretty well but no clear standout track. Strange Ones probably my favorite after Alright

Banger start - energetic, punchy, hard-hitting. The first 4 songs are total anthems with sharp guitar tones, fast drums, banger choruses and super charismatic vocals. Unfortunately after track 8 or so the album gets incredibly inconsistent. They either don't stick to their strengths or deliver them without the crazy energy. It's a pretty good album but kind of a rough ride.

It was a pretty fun listen. No takeaways from me and no jams, though. It was enjoyable to have on, solid 3 stars.

solid punky album

I should be more of a fan of this. My era, my basic genre, dug Alright. Not saying I didn't like it but it wasn't mind blowing. Above 3 but not yet 4. 3.5/5

Alright is a great song, it’s been on my playlist for ages. The rest? Pretty meh.

(4/7) "Alright" indeed

There was one song I liked. I believe there's a term for that, alas it escapes me.

I thought this was pretty good. It has a nice punk aesthetic to it with a nice hint of pop to it. Some of the songs do blend together or sound similar but I'll alow it. Alright is a good tune. 4

Some fine British rock stuff. The first couple of songs are significantly better than the rest, there's some cool punk influences on here it's just not all that special

It was alright, but not memorable.

Your crisp?

good lively sound

Marrant la musique « Time to Go » à la fin de l’album. Bonne expérience d’écoute.

That was a fun and cohesive record. It’s a pretty good debut that captures the raw, gritty sound of the 90s. I enjoyed how it progressed without ever losing steam, and it ended on a high note. The simplicity of the lyrics completes the picture perfectly. If anything, the album has fun with its sound and songwriting without trying to break new ground and it excels because of that. The standout tracks for me are "Lose It", "Strange Ones", and "Time to Go".

Oh great! More 90s British punk. The author of this list definitely has a type, too bad she has terrible teeth and can’t cook for shit.

Started off pretty generic (imo) but had some pleasant surprises along the way. Dig the first chord in "She's so Loose"

It’s not bad.

Just fine…

alright is already a staple in my warm weather playlists and i like sofa of my lethargy gave will byers but overall the general style isn’t for me

We're not supposed to is wel een heel storend nummer.

Priem!

Beetje proto indie sleaze. Soms leuk. Soms silly. Soms irritant

Interesting to get Supergrass' debut album after already listening to In It For The Money. Whilst I Should Coco hasn't turned me into a believer, it certainly solidified for me that they sanded off their more unique edges after this debut. There's a hyperactive energy to this album which is kind of infectious, if not always lending itself to particularly interesting songs.

It was good

I don't think I've ever listened to a Supergrass album start-to-finish before. I recognize a few of these songs by title. I don't know... This mostly just isn't doing it for me. Two tracks I did quite enjoy: "Lenny" and "Time"

It's okay, but most of it isn't to my taste.

Not bad not great. I enjoyed about half of the songs and I say this a lot but definitely some good driving music

A classic one hit wonder album, it has one good recognizable song and a bunch of meh whatever tracks. The one famous track here is not good enough to carry the entire album. Acceptable but nothing special.

Took me a couple songs to warm up to this music. At first, it sounded too British, but ultimately it charmed me with its unique alt rock sounds that I found to be unique and dynamic in a way that captured my interest.

Watched there glasto set on the bbc and thought it was incredibly boring but the album itself, solidly good stuff, best stuff is the reprisal of stranger ones throughout.

Alright is great

Very heavy, intro music kinda feeling so far you know?

Tails off a bit towards the end but a solid album.

Supergrass was my first listen on this generator, but it was the next effort "In It for the Money". I remember thinking it was well made, but not tailored to my tastes at all. I think the same applies for this effort but with better material for singles. I was shocked when I heard Alright and could finally put a band name to the song. The quality of production is very nice, the musicianship isn't lacking here, but aside from a few solid tracks, I find the effort mostly forgettable. I'd have preferred a Best Of compilation, or a good live show, at least as far as must-hear-albums go. 3.2/5

Good but forgettable.

Brittiläistä poppia melkoisen melodista

enkele bangers, enkele mehh

Never heard of this band or album and was presently surprised how much I enjoyed it. Smart writing and catchy licks.

Alright

One song clearly better than the rest. Not my favorite type of music but it’s listenable

solid 3.5 tbh

It's a pretty good album

Not my vibe

Couple bangers

Going into this, I thought I'd never heard Supergrass but knew what they would sound like, in part due to their name. However, when the album started, I was surprised by the sound. I was listening to an extremely kinetic indie rock band with fast guitars and energetic drums. Then Alright played and I realized I had heard thos song and band before but didn't realize it was them. This album is a fun listen and definitely through my assumptions out the window. Liked this a lot.

Jolly britpop. More please!

I should say so! Britpop at its finest and Alright is one of the iconic tunes of the genre.

I liked this more than expected, “Alright” was a good song I didn’t realize was a hit until I heard it. The rest was kind of just there, but enjoyable.

ENOUGH FUCKING UK POP ROCK

Some good tracks, but nothing special

Interesting that Spotify says this band is 1 of the most important bands of the 90s. Never heard of them. They were ok but not groundbreaking or anything.

Solid enough. Not much to write home about. I understand if you're British how this is a seminal album, but otherwise, fine poprock.

It's a very nice listen, actually. Very 90's. Solid songwriting and very nice instrumentation. I enjoy the range between the more rocky songs and the acoustic ones. An enjoyable listen. Not extraordinary though, I think so. A 3

music that plays when a slightly alt character gets introduced in a 90s rom com

Couple classics at the beginningin that I've heard and liked before but never knew what they were called.

a britpop classic

Let's try and unsee this album cover Of all the britpop this list has force fed me of late, this one I think I prefer best. Sofa (Of My Lethargy) is my pick from this one. I hear Beatles and Traffic influences in it.

Regular

This is better than I thought it would be, especially because I really don't like 'Alright' The faster, punkier songs are pretty good

It was okay. Britpop is really not my thing.

Felt very varied. It was a fun listen, there was some stuff I liked and some I didn’t, but at least it stayed interesting. Probably wouldn’t listen again though. Fav song: Alright - Also liked Sitting Up Straight and Time Least fav: We’re Not Supposed To

None of the others hit the way Alright did. Some of the songs were a bit too high energy. Favourite song: Alright Least: We're Not Supposed To

A down the middle 90s rock album.

pretty good, added multiple songs

Interesting

This is a sick album, lots of personality. I especially liked the first 4 tracks.

Rating: 7/10 It's some pretty good Britpop with a raw garage sound from this time. The first half is fast paced and fun, then the stretch of tracks 7-9 weren't my favorite. And then really slowed down in the last few tracks but I thought they were decent too I was having enough fun with it, maybe not something I would return to all that often. I'm sure a lot of us have heard 'Alright' which is a good song and really feels like a true influence on a style to come around the turn of the century with the post-Britpop indie sound. The album cover art is cursed

Genre? Punk? Punk-pop? Ska-ish? I think I would have liked this album and seeing the band live when I was in high school. It’s got a youthful sound and energy. I like the British flavor. Second half of album different sound than the first (liked 2nd half more) Not sure that’s listen to it today at this point in my musical “journey”. (Dislike: the cover)

Too wacky sometimes but i enjoyed alright and time

Many days I find these albums borderline intolerable and I question why I'm even doing this. This one was marginally better, so I guess that's a win.

The opening track was a little bit too much for me. The rest of the album was a great listen. I would add to my collection but I could also see it being slightly forgettable.

Spirited romp through British rock, with echoes of The Kinks, Beatles, and Stones jumping out to me.

6.5/10 Energetic and surprisingly diverse. It was a good listen, but I didn't really emotionally connect to the songs. Highlights: Caught by the Fuzz Strange Ones

At times fast, at times fun, at times even really cool, but in the end somehow meaningless.

Didn’t think I’d know any of the songs off of this one. ‘Alright’ rocks and of course I’ve heard it all over the place. This album has a fun sound, that kind of goes all over the place, talk about a musical smorgasbord. I hear roots in the Rolling Stones maybe, the chipmunks, there's organs, I hear Bob Dylan, I hear Oasis, It feels like it could influence Jack White and the Arctic Monkeys. It seems like each song takes you in a completely new direction and honestly they pull it off wonderfully. It also reminds me of The La's in some ways. Overall a cool sound and fun album. Nothing is sticking with me completely but this is one I could see myself coming back to.

Better than Pulp or Blur but still brit pop and I just can't fully vibe with it. Have definitely heard "Alright" before. The second half of the album, minus "Sofa (Of My Lethargy)" was better than the first.

Meh. Yet another Britpop album where it's just ok. Nothing stood out either way.

I liked it a lot it had a lot of nice stuff but I was feeling like I wanted a bit more

Not my favourite

cool that song alright is on here! Nothing really memorable though

Very easy listening. It has a good balance of edgy/alt rock and indie/pop. At times they reminded me of No Doubt, other times the Beatles. I had never heard of Supergrass before, but some of these songs definitely rang a bell. A lot of these songs remind me of something I'd see in a coming-of-age TV show (randomly, I actually pictured Dan from Gossip Girl lol). Overall, I admittedly don't have a lot to say about the album. It's a pretty good album, easy to listen to, and enjoyable. I think I need to learn more about the album and the history to learn why it made it on the 1001 list. 3.5/5.

Irgendwie ziemlich cool. Klingt älter als es ist finde ich.

War cool, aber nichts Weltbewegendes.

čisti neki prosjek što se tiče glazbe. nit loše nit posebno dobro, nit smeta nit zabavlja.

Never heard of album or band. Intro is interesting. Pretty unique sound. Good background track. Great guitar solo in the back half. Caught by the fuzz is fine. Just an average rock song. Mansize rooster is a super fun song, followed by alright which is an absolute banger. Heard it before but even better in the midst of the album. Sour catchy chorus and great guitar. Lose it is pretty catchy as well. Not a ton of substance to these song but they’re catchy and the background music is good. I like strange ones a lot too. Great songwriting and music combo. Just a good song. Sitting up straight is generic. Not bad not good. Will never listen again. Similar with she’s so loose. Well written. Pretty catchy but not the bets of all time. Almost immediately skipped we’re not supposed to. That first 15 seconds is horrible on the ears. Goofy/bullshit song. Can appreciate the switch up in sound. Time couldn’t be any more different. I like this one. Really cool harmonica. Sofa is a good song too. Last half musical solo is really really good. With a really good fade into time to go which is so apt as a finishing song. This is how all albums should be put together. It’s not the best songs of all time but it tells a story. Worth the listen. 3.4 stars.

decent but a bit forgettable

I have generally been fairly anti-Britpop, with the exception of Oasis and a little bit of Blur. I came into this, accordingly, with great trepidation. I know "Alright" as one of those catchy, sort of annoying songs that seemed built for a shopping montage in a 90s teen movie. Not a great sign. Better than I would have thought. They can rock out a fair bit, but there wasn't any particular track that really made, like, nod my head. Solid B, B-.

A local band to my home city, Supergrass’s commercial success was a big deal locally. I don’t remember owning this album though so surprised I know lots of the tracks on it. Maybe they were all chart hits or a regular playlist in the student union bar. Either way… Fun to hear it again, and liked it a lot. A bit of a mental energy (smashy) but that’s part of the appeal and maybe what dates it to the mid 90’s? Cos I got this album on a Friday I could listen several times over the weekend. I would say I think the first half of the album is really strong but find the second half/third has less of an infectious energy. 3.5 13 tracks Favourite track #1? Others? Strange Ones, Lenny, Fuzz one

Not bad but I just found it a bit of a racket

Pretty good, no particular stand outs

Some bangers but the album didn't impressed me that much.

Another Brit rock band, this one from the mid 90’s. I actually really enjoyed the variety of this one and was fun to sing along and re-visit a couple of the hits. The album flowed nicely and was just the right length. Still not overly memorable, and certainly not higher than 3 stars.

I had a good time listening to this album. Really playfully, fun and powerful, which made the listening experience fun. However this is not my style of music

Not bad, not great. Not for me.

It was okay

Mixed bag with some fun selections and a few that fell flat. I enjoyed the overall sound much more than expected.

Hey it's that song from all the commercials! And also a bunch of stuff that sounds vaguely similar to it, none of which is bad, but none of which really moves me.

Would never have been exposed to this and it's pretty good! I liked the closing track

Classic catchy britpop, didn't really blow my mind
