Beautiful instrumentals. the style reminds me of bjork, wouldn’t be surprised if she was inspired by this

This is a weird one, because its not one I think I'll go back to, but its effortlessly great. Almost comes off as experimental, but I don't think Kate Bush isn't trying to be experimental, that's just the type of music she makes, hence why I said it comes off as effortless. I've listened to her before, 50 Words For Snow, and if I remember right, that was a far quieter, more subdued album, so this more bombastic 80's pop style threw me for a loop. I did like Under Ice and Waking the Witch a lot with the odd horror vibes/experimentation. Also noticed quite a bit of this album feels oddly influenced by The Wall era Pink Floyd? Particularly in the basslines/sound/tone in songs like Mother Stands for Comfort.

4/5. Didn’t know much Kate Bush going in and at first it didn’t seem like my kind of music, but it was that second side, that “Ninth Wave” concept suite, that really sold me. It’s difficult, dense listening, but it’s so compelling and brazen for a commercial album. It really stays with me.

Really enjoyed this, but side 2 is *wild*.

lot’s of new concepts in this album that were previously unheard of, this album was very experimental, didn’t expect to like the album this much, quality of music starts to degrade a bit at the second half, but comes back to life at the end of jig of life, i think that’s where i began to ascend, i love the concept of this album

Thoughts before listening: The artier side of 80s new wave. "Running Up that Hill" is awesome but I don't think I know the rest of her stuff. Review: This is very dramatic, arty alternative new wave pop...something like that. I am enjoying this quite a bit although its not really the typical thing I would listen to. There are a couple songs that drag, but for the most part its a fun listen. Other than the recognizable hits, I also really like "Jig of Life". 4-stars

A little disjointed. Great songs and mood but I’m not fully convinced.

Just an amazing album

Not as good as I remembered but still good

this is actually my first time listening to the album all the way through, mainly because i didn’t really like the singles apart from running up that hill. that being said side 2 is perfect, it sounds beautiful and her storytelling is amazing fav songs : hello earth (!!!), jig of life, waking of the witch, the morning fog

The pervasive weirdness is fun, "Running Up That Hill" rules, and every time I hear Kate do a strange thing with her voice I become a little more infatuated with her ("When I was a child, running in the NiGhT"). If there were a couple more 5-star tracks I'd put this one at a 5 overall.

Kate Bush – Hounds of Love (Review) Of course, everyone knows “Running Up That Hill” – and for good reason. It's an incredible opener that still holds so much emotional weight. The 80s synths are unmistakable, but what really stands out is the depth of the songwriting. It’s bold, theatrical, and full of feeling. I especially loved the second track, “Hounds of Love” – it’s punchy, dramatic, and showcases Kate’s unique style. That said, while I appreciated the artistry, this isn’t an everyday album for me. Some of the tracks felt a little dated, and the overall style doesn’t quite match my usual taste. Still, there’s no denying Kate Bush’s voice is stunning, and Hounds of Love remains a powerful and important record. Just not one I’d play on repeat.

Weirdo fairie music. Plot twist: I like weirdo fairie music.

Ethereal pop

Kate's best album and one of the great progressive albums of the 80s.

Exquisite. One of her best.

Is "Running" the quintessential mid 80s anthem? That synth riff still gets me 40 years later. There's a lot of 80s music that didn't age well. At all. This is mostly the exception. I was never a huge fan but the arrangements, vocals, riffs, they all stand up pretty well. There is actual artistry here. The Cloudbusting video is fantastic. I don't think I ever saw it when it was fresh.

I thought we where on track for a 5 star album with how this album opens up but it gets very sammy sounding as it goes on loosing my interest but has a few later highlights.

Standout songs: The Big Sky Cloudbusting Waking the Witch Jig of Life The Morning Fog This album was definitely a trip, but a good trip, so many different styles of music throughout. A really fun experience. Definitely the first album on this journey that I’ve completely enjoyed.

i love kate bush but my album picks would be different than the three chosen for 1001... hounds of love is good but a little overrated imo

I was skeptical of this album simply because I did not enjoy the last Kate Bush album (The Dreaming) and didnt know how this would go. I was pleasantly surprised- this album is much more cohesive and feels like it demonstrates Bush's vocal talent in dream-like pop songs, which is where I think she shines. Plus, Running Up that Hill is a masterpiece. Overall- I liked it. Probably around a 3.5 but I think the overall polish elevates it to a 4

She has a unique sound that I really enjoyed! There was only one song out of the whole album I didn’t like -“Waking the Witch”. My favorite fun fact about her is that headsets were invented so Kate Bush could do her choreographies while singing!

Surreal

Underrated. She's a beast

This would be one of my all time fave albums if the end half was as good as the first.

Great album; a very interesting listen with Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God) being the most well-known track (thank you Stranger Things for re-introducing it to a whole generation).

Running Up That Hill - as good as always Hounds of Love - okay so its just all going to feel like this The Big Sky - yeah, feels good Mother Stands For Comfort - slows down into something so Cloudbusting - sampled on mouth sounds? And Dream of Sheep - makes me want to sleep in the best way Waking The Witch - woah then oh my god demons! Jig Of Life - go off! The Morning Fog - Mnn yeah

Some classic material on here. The second half where she's doing a werewolf impression or whatever is somewhat less impactful to me personally.

There’s a cool power that runs through this whole album

Running Up That Hill was rereleased a couple years back; I heard it for the first time then and loved it. I knew Kate Bush originally for her cover of Elton John’s Rocket Man, which will knock your socks off. Like Maggie Rogers would, Kate’s doing her own thing here. It’s big and vibrating and shifting and compelling and more, please!

Spooooooky

There were rumours that hounds of love was actually written about Len Houmous. He is a hound and a prominent lover so I can see where people might think that! 4.1

This is not typically my sort of thing. But this is definitely a vibe. And no one can deny Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God). But honestly, the whole album is good, moody, unique. I'm between 4 and 5. Probably going to land on 4 because I'm not sure it's something I could go back to all the time.

I was preparing to say that this album was overrated, more of a reflection of 21st Century nostalgia, post-Stranger Things, than of inherent quality. I was wrong. It's definitely an artefact of the 80s musically, but it's also novel.

Loved it, and not just Running Up That Hill. Very 80s, very OTT and sincere. Made me want to get in a bubble bath with my hair up and bask in soft focus lighting

good record!!!

Fun and eclectic. I was not much of a Kate Bush fan in the 80's. But like a lot of current fans I have discovered her music late. Which is thanks to this list. Kate is definitely one of a kind.

I like lots of this but then I tire a bit of Kate’s vocals. Instrument and arrangements though are excellent.

A record that is very easy to listen to and get lost in for three quarters of an hour... Side 1 is just incredible!

1001 ALBUMS- # 27 Sounds To Love! 💗 I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with this one as I hadn’t been directly familiar with the source material on it, other than the endearing adoration critics have showered Kate Bush with. Upon a first full listen I can certainly understand these accolades along with the influence she paved for aspiring female musicians in the generations to come. This album is really broken out into very distinct thematic sounds on each respective side; the first being traditional more mainstream song structures, while the second are conceptual and experimental in nature, which could play as different albums completely. A very unique approach especially for its time, however the accessible 80’s synth pop textures are very much peppered throughout both sides. 🎧 Classic Track: Running Up That Hill (Deal with God) 🎧 Deep Cut Gem: Jig of Life 🎧 Personal Favorite: Under Ice There are a myriad of creative musical sounds mixes incorporated across these two track listings, all grounded in pop sensibility, however the most beautiful to my ears is the inclusion of the strings, which really capture an ethereal mounting tension with Kate’s lovely lyrical songwriting. A one woman show on display here as she brilliantly conceived this work of art entirely on her own. 🖼️ Album Artwork: Not a fan of the clichéd female glamour shot, especially for music that was this inventive I will absolutely be revisiting this captivating release, as there is a great deal of appreciation for the boundaries being pushed that clearly helped shape the way forward, which is what great artists are able to successfully accomplish! Unafraid to go against the grain, on her own terms in dedication to true original art. Press the Thumbs Up icon below if you enjoyed my take on the album :)

Ofc first song is iconic, knew it from Netflix and Stranger Things. Looking forward to the rest of the album to see how it stacks up to Runnin up that hill. Second song cool intro, loving these heavy big drums hitting in the back ground pushing the second track forward. They make a stand in this song. Big Sky her voice sounded a bit too childlike I guess at times for me, Cyndi Lauper kind of. On Mother Stands for comfort now, definitely a vibe change. Mysterious, slower, introspective. Some cool synth beats and sounds on this one. Waking the witch is haunting, reminds me of 80s horror. Great album very interesting

Great production

Jig of Life is right there with Running Up That Hill. Pushed it to 4 stars.

An experience

New, inoffensive. Listenable, pleasant!

it grew on me throughout the day but cloudbusting remains fave

8.5/10 No artist sounds like Kate Bush and yet you get the impression she's not too bothered with sounding unique but just with making whatever music she wants to make. Really like the frantic percussion. In combination with Bush's voice it creates such a massive sound. Amazing Highlights: The Big Sky Running up that Hill Cloudbusting Hounds of Love Hello Earth

A wonderful album, little more needs be said about it.

The first side of this album is awesome. The second is bonkers. I think I'll have to listen again with the lyrics to find out what is going on.

Cloud busting - killer. Waking the witch - mental

Enjoyable and varied. I'd like to think it's a 5* but I think it's more of a 4... and that's giving +1 for a female artist on this list.

I thought I knew this whole album but apparently not. Amazing voice, and some exploratory things happening here, some of which were big hits and others were a bit too experimental to become mainstream hits, but definitely artistic.

Running up that Hill genial, der Rest semi. Album so alt, war mir nicht bewusst. Hello Earth ende Deutsch Walking the Witch sehr experimentell

This album is what dreams sound like. Her voice is angelic.

Way better than the Sensual World.

Beautiful soulful songs.

I'm trying, Kate, I'm trying! 3.99

Fun voice, very much hot girl music. A few songs I rlly enjoyed and everything was good. High 4

7/10 - Obviously running up that hill is goated additionally, there were some decent songs in the middle of the album. Some weird songs namely Waking The Witch but the Irish folk music at the end was nice.

Super unique and interesting album. The highs are super high, but I unfortunately do not like some of the songs enough to give it a 5

I have always wanted to give Kate Bush a more full listen than I have had rhe chance to in the past. I was not disappointed. This is a good album, although I don't feel that it fully showcases her talents. She is a unique artist and deserves to be on the list. My favourite song of hers will always be "Wuthering Heights".

the strings on some of these songs go HARD I like the song about sleeping, very relatable overall a lovely project which i want to come back to

I was too scared to listen to this for a hot sec because of the A level music flashbacks, but of course, it's Kate Bush so I really enjoyed it when I got the courage up. Some nice discoveries on there, the Jig of Life for sure, and loved all the crazy effects which actually worked musically for her concept. But even though the others all pass, I still hope I never have to listen to Cloudbusting again

Rlly good Liked the lyrics

Far more darker and deeper than a one hit wonder

So I really like the first song and I love her voice. This was a good album. Experimental. I kind of zoned out near the end so I can’t give it a 5.

Running Up That Hill has an interesting place in my life because I've discovered 3 versions because of 3 different people and I like them all. I forgot about the title track. It's a lovely song. I've also loved Cloudbusting for quite a while now. The Morning Fog and Jig Of Life are highlights as well. The only song I didn't like was Waking The Witch.

I think anyone who rated this album "1" should never be allowed to listen to music again. Kate Bush is weird but you can hear her in so many later artists: Enya, Fiona Apple and, as many have said, Bjork. Also, I love weird music. Minus 1 star for the 80s gated snare.

Like it a lot. Really great production. 7/10

Decent with a good 80iea vibe

Doesn't ask work, but really imaginative

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. I can see how it was a precursor to early '90s female artists. She seemed way before her time.

Kate Bush seems to carry with her a completely unique air of dreaminess. Maybe it’s just in this album, as it has become such an incredibly significant milestone in both her discography and popular music as a whole. From the supersonic opening five tracks through the supporting dreamscape of The Ninth Wave, Hounds of Love is unrelenting in its pop-produced heaviness and structure, rooted to Bush’s concept and without any dull moments. This is mid-decade 80s pop at its peak. After all, where else would you get this sort of compendium? Only on Kate Bush’s other albums.

Interesting, unique sound

I was expecting to like this more than I did! It’s very front loaded and doesn’t hold up for its entirety. Still iconic, though.

This album is more commercial but still has the classic off beat Bush energy.

Really quite interesting, I'd only ever heard Running Up that Hill, but very good album from beginning to end.

I wasn’t too familiar with this album other than the main single but as a fan of Tori Amos I can see how Kate Bush was an influence. I enjoyed the listen.

Hey it's the stranger things song. That show is sooook epic. Nahhhh I'm being a Lil silly. Running up that hill is great though. I didn't save any of the tracks other than that one but I already had it saved. Sound like I didn't like it huh? But no I did like it alot. But I don't think saving single songs does it any favors. It's a whole peice. I got sure will listen to the whole record multiple times. Very good.

What a record! Lovely Pop from the 80's!!

Mjög guðdómlegt

absolute classic, knew this one going in and didn't disappoint. 9/10

Running up that hill. I always loved this song.

Very nice, weird album. Some of these i find quite plodding, in a way I don't particularly love. I feel like I am not appreciating this as much as I should, but I'm glad to have listened. Cloudbusting is one of my favourite songs of all time. 4 overall

Nice to start off this project with a familiar album from the '80s. I've always misheard what she says after "deal with God" as "get him to swallow druses." Whatever that could mean. Anyway, the hits are undeniable but what stands out to me listening to it now is the mix of beautiful, quieter songs like And Dream of Sheep and Watching You Without Me and wackier experimental songs. The transitions are great and make it a true album experience.

++: Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God), Hounds of Love, The Big Sky, Mother Stands for Comfort, Cloudbusting, Under Ice, Waking the Witch, Watching You Without Me, Hello Earth, The Morning Fog +: And Dream of Sheep, Jig of Life 9,7/10

This was a fun album that had only the second Billion + played song I've seen so far on Spotify (Thanks Stranger Things), overall a fun album that I was excited to listen to.

Better than I was expecting. A very enjoyable listen.

Got a bit lost in the middle but such strong songs

Nog det mest skräckinjagande albumet jag hört

awesome 80's synth

Arty prog-pop with an uncompromised artistic vision. I can see a lineage of Peter Gabriel -> Kate Bush -> Bjork -> St. Vincent (or someone a bit weirder). Cool split between side a (arty but accessible pop songs) and side b (an experimental prog-pop adventure), but still making it all work together. Bush’s voice is always where it needs to be - powerful, desperate, serene, longing. The vocals, lyrics, and music really all work together here to paint pictures and tell stories…a very literary feel with an air of magic. Tons of sonic diversity and moods, environments, and textures that draw you into the song. A couple of the songs are on the duller sides, but overall a cool album that balances the bizarre and accessible, and always has a catchy melody circulating. Whether it’s vocal, orchestral, synth, traditional instruments, forefront, background - the album isn flooded with melody, emotion, and magic.

Loved it.

Wonderful album. Maybe her best.

Another discovery from u/Muzak_For_A_Nurse

Sehr gutes Album mit sehr vielen guten Liedern, ein paar neue habe ich für mich entdeckt.

"Running Up That Hill" is in fact an absolute bop. Listened to the album twice, grew on me the second time. Definitely a "headphone" album, really gained a greater appreciation of the synthetic soundscapes that way.

Now this is a fascinating, diverse, and complex album. Jig of Life and Hello Earth (the latter for its inclusion of passages from a Georgian folk song) really stand out. I used to hear this album as a child (my father loved it), but I always hated it. I just listened to it for the first time in probably 35 years, and how my impression has changed!

We’ve got Bush!

Among the most 1985-sounding of all the albums to come out in 1985, in its way. Nothing wrong with that, of course.

Interesting and loved the lyrics. Will probably need to listen more.

Kate Bush is incredible so loved this album

4 or 5 fr

прикольно, напомнило бьорк. вторая половина альбика понравилась больше.

quirky stuff

Very mad, very good

Kate Bush is an artist whose name I’ve heard for decades but whose music I never searched out. But this was good! She loses me a bit on the second half of the album, which follows a bit of a more experimental concept theme. It feels a bit more inconsistent than side A- but also more ambitious. I’m glad I got to hear this!

Vackert album. Jätte artsy Bästa låtarna: Running up that hill och Cloudbusting

Another banger of an album. I had 3 songs saved from a previous listen going in and I have 8 going out now. It gets better on a re-listen. Running up that Hill is obviously awesome but Cloud Bursting and Jig of Life are my next faves. It’s musically a very fun album for me. The drums and violins throughout add such an element that you don’t always get. It feels like a soundtrack that is cohesive and foreshadowing at the same time. Her voice is angelic and mysterious and other-worldly and I think you could go through the lyrics multiple times and still get something new each time. Slow and quiet parts of songs can sometimes be a let down or drag on too long but I think here, with the massive waves of energy and crescendo of drums and strings it works really well to have some songs exist in a diminishing space for a while. I’d like to listen again and I really like a handful of the individual songs but love how they come together. Not going to overthink this one.

This was definitely ahead of its time. A very cool album, and it stood the test of time.

Pretty fire

Obviously I knew the big hits off of this - everyone knows Running Up That Hill and Hounds of Love (I still prefer The Futureheads version, come at me) - but I always thought the second half to be a bit inconsistent. Listening back, I'm not so sure that's the case. This was thoroughly enjoyable, a definite upgrade to my previous opinion. Kate knows the music she wants to make and does it well, keep doing you you crazy ethereal fae queen.

Ich lieb Kate Bush. Sicher eis vo de bkanntere Albe. Waking the witch eif genial.

running up that hill het weg stranger things es revival gha glaub? seeehr guete song. tönt irgendwie noch peter gabriel. hounds of love tönt sehr ähnlich, aber isch halt no cool und sentimental und so. the big sky seeehr cooli gitarre sie het immerno meega gern toms. finds recht geil. mother stands for comfort isch chli langwiilig. cloudbusting weeird? was sind die synthis? aso isch easy. and dream of sheep seehr schlni chords aber seeicht das ganze. waking the witch creepy alli seged ich söll ufwache ich bin wach alte wa isch. jig of life mitem irish shit oiii. recht cool findi. de fiddle break seehr cool. moll denn dur? ayyyy hello earth isch am schluss jo uuultra geil.

OHH ICH KENN RUNNING UP THAT HILL abrr glaub vomene cover hahaha? hans leider nöd gfunde aber love it sie chan ja offesichtlich guet singe, s ischmer rifach chli z vill hall druff hahaha han ja nanig vill glost aber wir das album "has been regularly voted one of the greatest albums of all time" gahtmer nöd in grind big sky cooli perkussion! cloudburst kinda cute kinda langwilig waking the with findi sehrsehr cool, glaub nöd dass ich das je gross wieder wird lose aber ich finds recht muetig so öppis komischs inneztue hahaha wow hello warth isch sehr vill besser gsi als ich zerst erwartet han macht jz nöd megaa sinn, dads nomal es lied chunnt? find hello earth wär en super schluss gsi aber jo hmm find einiges scho chli heavy 80er aber s het immer wieder weirdi sache woni recht cool find. 4i

There's three big songs here - "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God," "Hounds of Love" and "Cloudbusting". The rest of it is filled with pleasing, kind of concept-album-y Kate Bush noises. I grew up with Kate Bush being around in the eighties and always knew she was different and had respect for her as someone who was an "artist" but never really got any albums or anything. This is probably one I will return to.

Elegant pop from the wispy princess

𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 This album is so dreamy the entire day I've spent listening to it I feel like I've been floating on a pink cloud. The instrumentals and lyrics of this piece are so hauntingly beautiful it feels like Kate Bush is singing to you from the other end of an empty hallway at a church or cemetery. Is this an album I would have listened to unprompted? Maybe. I think I would have eventually stumbled onto it and it probably would have found me exactly where it wanted me. At least now I'm prepared for when the time comes.

What a great start to 1001 albums! An absolute classic. First 2 tracks obviously huge hits and a couple others I had heard many times before but the album tracks I had only heard for the first time or maybe once in passing previously were all great, can’t believe how much I enjoyed this album!

Really interesting and for its time such genre progressive. First time I really listened it front to back. Need some relistens but definetly a interesting craft of music. (3.5/5.0)

Good album, I've never really connected with her though

what can you say, apart from great album. Perhaps a bit of over enthusiasm for the fairlight, which dates it a little, so for me not her best. It’s still crammed with some fantastic tracks

Good album, but the second half is nowhere near as good as the first half.

A lot more interesting and entertaining than I thought it would be. Very intense in places. "The Ninth Wave" was metal. Eclectic and surprisingly rhythm centered. I found it all more fascinating than I thought I would, having pretty much ignored Kate Bush this whole time. I'll probably listen again, the hits (Running Up That Hill and Cloudbusting) are actually really great songs that have aged very well.

I knew the one song plus her collaborations with Peter Gabriel. But I had no idea how much of an influence she had on subsequent artists. If I hadn’t known any better, I would have thought this was a Tori Amos album. Their vocal styles are extraordinarily similar.

This album is greater than the sum of its songs, and it really needs to be listened to in one sitting. I liked it better each time.

I need to listen to this again to take it in more fully.

Dreamy and ethereal. beautiful composition, a little weird and abnormal but super cohesive and coherent. cool listen as a whole, chill and interesting vibes all around just a little too experimental for my taste

What a unique sound. I loved it.

Listened before!

80s Queen

Not something I would listen to often, but I will have to give her props for doing her style very well (and much better than some of her contemporaries). It's experimental, but it's still identifiable as music. I respect that.

The only good memories associated with this album, Kate Bush's voice is so lovely. Quite a few of the songs already in the rotation. Just going to add the whole album now

I enjoyed this far more than I expected. Some very dreamy songs

Fun and funky in a good way. On songs I didn't like as much upon a first listen, once looking at the lyrics I still appreciated the amazing storytelling.

One of the most 80's albums

So inventive and world building. She should have worked with Enya.

What a genre/storytelling trip

OK I admit that when I got very excited to see this album, I had forgotten that the back half gets 1) a little more experimental than I like and 2) into having the male vocals that I could really leave on the cutting room floor. But it's still very very fun and I love Kate Bush

Seeing Kate Bush being thrust back into the limelight in these past couple years due to Stranger Things, and in turn Tik Tok has been wonderful. She has always been great but underrated. Great album from a great artist!

This is one of those albums where I can recognize how utterly ahead of its time it was, and how it's influenced so many artists (Tori Amos, probably Bjork, Austra, Bat for Lashes, Sarah MacLachlan), but it didn't necessarily hook me - despite multiple listens. Maybe if I'd been old enough to appreciate this in the mid-80s OR heard it when I was a bit more impressionable teen, I'd be completely smitten. As a less impressionable 40 something, this felt more like an interesting curio piece that I'll bump a star for how many artists this influenced.

I had never heard this one before. I only knew Running Up That Hill from the radio. Pretty interesting, solid album. Especially considering this was from 1985, it was a pretty fun listen.

Pretty classic album

The only Kate Bush album that I have listened to repeatedly, over many years.

This album is a bit of a mixed bag for me. I had heard a few of the tracks before , but none of those I really loved. So I was mostly interested in discovering the songs I didn't know yet. I think my favourite track is 'Under Ice'. A lot happens on this album and sometimes it's a little bit too much for me to enjoy it, but Kate Bush is a very talented singer clearly.

top 5 album covers of all time

From another planet

madonna meets mike oldfield in this great showoff of 80'sness and then suddenly shakira meets enya

A pleasant surprise ... I don't think I've ever really listened to Kate Bush. And for once the 1001 Albums you must hear before you die, does something I think it was intended to do ... introduce us to good music we might otherwise overlook. Thing is, after having to listen to Dr. Dre ... I don't really believe that. But this one - worked! It started out okay, but got better and better. And after listening to it, I went on to some of her other albums. I will be adding her to my favorites list.

Hokey 80's theatre kid pop (Complimentary) The Lavender/Violet colour palette of the cover really matches the feeling this album gives, I know Kate Bush to be a bit out there in terms of pop artists which is not something I am against at face value but I was a bit concerned for if I would like all of this going in. Thankfully I was able to really relax and get invested in most of it, some of the songs in the 2nd half felt a bit redundant and like they were lacking something for their duration. I'm glad I am almost completely culturally oblivous to Stranger Things so I can just enjoy Running Up That Hill on its own without any baggage. Highlights: Running Up That Hill, Hounds of Love, And Dream of Sheep, The Morning Fog

Would.

A great listen! Innovation around every corner

Can’t get more 80’s than this. Would give it 3 stars but no matter how much Running up that hill gets overplayed it’s still a great song, bumped it up to 4 stars

Pretty good all in all. Love Running Up That Hill obviously, and the rest of the album is enjoyable. Her voice reminds me a lot of Tori Amos. The Irish jig on the second half was unexpected and fun. Definitely need to listen to more of her stuff.

3.5 rounded up i see the vision but idk i just think its overrated….. highlights: hounds of love, the big sky, watching you without me (sep 6 2024)

Unique poetry, and art piece by Kate Bush, although abused the bagpipes a few times. Favourite songs of the album: Cloud Bursting Running up that hill Hello Earth

This is a truly exhilarating album even after four decades. https://open.substack.com/pub/richcain/p/project-1001-hounds-of-love-by-kate?r=4ztyq&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

Good but forever tainted by stranger things weirdos

I already loved this album 1. Running Synth sounds on running up that hill are perfect. Drums don’t switch up at all but they’re great 2. Hounds of love Love the pulsing staccato string sound throughout. Same kinda big drums. No hihats 3. The big sky Lead guitar tone is great. Growling. Clappy sounding perc in 16th notes 4. Mother stands for comfort Big crash drum sounds with mellow vibes. Vocals cut through nicely. Haunting synth leads. Nice rhythmic vocal cadence 5. Cloudbusting. No drums at beginning. Nice string melody. Vocal melodies stacking. Good vocal production. Good concept. Marching like drums. Yay-yo vocals at the end are good and catchy 6. Dream of sheep. I like her voice on these haunting piano ballads. Very verby pianos. Guitar towards the end is subtle touch that adds dynamic. Train sound interesting 7. Under ice Haunting. No drums. Main sound sounds like pitched down string sample. Playing with resonance or flutey sound 8. Waking the witch The wake up samples are greats. Surprising beat drop and chaotic sound. Don’t live the deep voices. Not as pleasant as other stuff. Bells are distracting to me too. Probably all purposeful for the witch song though. Synth work is dope. Guilty crowd chant is good 9. Watching you watching me Excellent intro drum beat. Lots of resonant and FM-ish sounds on this album. Reverse vocal towards the end is amazing. Sounds incredible. Nice strings come in too 10. Jig of life Great fiddle intro. Almost eastern but sounds mostly Irish. Sounds way ahead of its time. Sounds like a nelly furtado song from 2000’s at some points. Marches the concept of the song well. Amazing switchup towards the end after quick break 11. Hello earth Love the space intro. Kate and haunting pianos again. Brings out sidfeeent vulnerability in her voice. Break with pitched down vocals was amazing. Great vocal production. Harmonies stacks and all. Haunting harmonies with drone string synth note at the end 12. Morning fog Ending the album on a brighter note with the production. Bass tone is nice. Jerky drum machine drums. Abrupt ending. Love this album even more than last time I listened. 8/10. Sound design was immaculate. Her vibe is very unique and quirky and free

Really enjoyed this. Almost entirely hits, despite being so diverse. A lot of the album still sounds super fresh. 8.25 / 10

close to 5 but this is a very very strong 4, kate bush you are a actual genius

I used to run a like from stuff like this, but there are not enough genuinely eccentric pop stars these days. I wouldn’t play this often, but I admire the fact that it, and Kate, exists. A little OTT but fun nonetheless. And some great singles.

There's so many emotions tied up in this album. It's a very mournful listening, almost too downbeat. But there's also optimism in Hounds of Love and Cloud Busting. It drifts slightly towards the end with all the fiddly diddly stuff.

kate bush the woman that you ARE.

Awesome

Not expecting the mix of music this contained and the unexpected Irish influences. Full of ideas and well executed 4*

Classic, a must listen

The Good: The Queen of odd! The Bad: sometimes odd is meant to be good. The Ugly: it took "Stranger Things" to bring this to the masses... During my college days a good buddy of mine handed me a mixed-tape, cause that is what one did back in the days when we still used tapes... Anyway, the song Cloudbusting was on it, and I recall really appreciating the tune, however, as one would need to purchase an album for 1 song, I never did. So, this was a great trip down memory lane for me, and more interestingly was that I really enjoyed the LP. 4*

Enjoyed it.

80s dance jams, also kinda Irish? I liked it...

Some fun 80's ballads. Running Up a Hill has had a moment in the past couple years and it deserves it. A few of the songs on the album had a strange demonic/culty energy to them. I enjoyed it, made it more unique.

Kate Bush to me has always been inextricably linked with one of my favorite artists, Peter Gabriel. Hounds of Love has so many progressive rock inspirations that it is one of those very few examples of progressive pop music. Instrumentation, lyrics, pure weirdness ('Waking the Witch'!) go hand in hand to create something very unique. It could be released now and still sound fresh and relevant. This is indeed a classic that is really timeless. 4.5⭐️

Good background, not memorable

Actually a phenomenal album despite Running Up that Hill being played out so much thanks to Stranger Things and Tik Tok following suit. Orchestral, operatic, telepathic, virtuostic, meloncholy, hopeful and even eclectic. Can't do much more to gas this album up. Sounds fresh even 40 years later.

This is a good album. I was too young for it originally and too old for the stranger things inspired revival, but the hits are british classics. Unlike a lot of 80's albums, this doesn't date at all as its completely unique and of itself not its time. The voice, the experimentation, the pop hooks, the variety of instrumentation, the weird irish trad bit are all delightful. More music should be as weird and brilliant as this

Hadn't heard (and LOVED Cloudbusting, And Dream of Sheep.)

One of those artists that I know is cool but I haven't explored at all. I think I was right that I wouldn't really get it when I first had friends really into Kate Bush, and am sort of glad to have accidentally waited until I'm more receptive. Really knows how to find the feeling in a song. Makes the very 80s trappings work when they appear. Terrific singer. If pop was like this all the time I'd be down for it. Willing to get wild, leads with the heart, I dig it. Will be listening again. music: appreciated. (⌐■_■)

At the halfway point this thing felt like a easy 5 star. Too bad it lost a bit of momentum with half a handful of weaker songs in the back half. But man does this ever rip. Something Patti-Smith-like about Bush, but with a bang on new wave sensibility. Great production of great songs with a great performer.

This was better than I remembered. Every song was wonderful. It felt as though it had been written and released this last year and for an album this old and one that I heard growing up in my home, that’s one hell of an achievement.

Really surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Not sure what this says about me.

Hauntingly cinematic. 4

Something I've loved about this project is getting an album, expecting one thing and being totally surprised. I was familiar with Kate Bush, because like most people my age, I watched Stranger Things so I heard "Running Up That Hill" on repeat for the entire month of October in 2022 but I never really listened to much of her stuff. This album really blew me away. Its super varied, obscure, art house even. I kept wondering "who produced this weird mess or rad songs??" It was Kate Bush. She just made a badass album exactly the way she wanted too. Its kind of all over the place in a really good way. The first half feels like Pink Floyd inspired British indie. Its weird, but fun and somewhat easy listening. Then it takes a dark turn and somehow becomes a concept album? Its gets super interesting and really captivated me. She plays with interesting effects, different sounds and genres. It's really cool and varied. I really enjoyed this!

Första halvan är riktigt jäkla bra och Running up the hill förstås helt enastående bra. Älskar Kates röst och unika uttryck. Den andra mer experimentella halvan är mer ojämn, men som helhet är detta en solklar fyra.

Thought I was a fan of Kate Bush but this is the first time I listened to this album all the way through and color me impressed. Love the pop sensibilities of side one but totally enjoyed the prog of the '9th Wave' side.

A simply good album with songs that admittedly took some growing for me to appreciate, such as the extremely famous Running Up That Hill. The whole album does feel a bit of that 80s age, but it goes for a surreal tone just enough for it to stick out, especially how the instrumentals are a tad more sparse than your average 80s pop song. I think the album gets a little too full of itself during the back half, as while some great songs do still appear, the pseudo-instrumental tracks feel odd and repetitive, even boring at times, and it sours the experience for me. However, there are so many good pop tunes on the A side that I still come away from this album with a positive mindset. I don't think it is one of the best albums of all time, but it's good, and that's satisfying enough for me.

Awesome The pop in this album is so fancy, one of the best albums in the world

Absolutely bizarre, but in the best way. Love albums like this just due to how different the sound is while still feeling like the decade they’re from.

The album features artistic, alternative pop songs that run counter to anything released today. "Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)" is a beautifully constructed song. I wish that new music was this good.

This is the second Kate Bush album that I have received from this site in a short period of time. In the review of The Dreaming I had said that I needed time to properly digest the songs on that album. Some time passed and things got better. Of course, the fact that today we have an album that starts with one of the best songs of the 80s (Running Up That Hill) helps a lot to get into the mood. Even though it sounds dissonant with reality, the depth she reaches with her voice and her lyrics are extremely real and genuine, apart from the fact that the album's sound is based on the best of the 80s. Today I'm going to give 4 stars, again, with the possibility of giving 5 next time ahaha!

Some of the songs fell flat for me, but there are plenty of cuts that held my interest. Worth another listen in the future I think.

To me this album listens more like performance art than an album that is in any way enjoyable to listen to. There are some tracks that are bearable, but most are such a chore to get through. Either because of the production choices or experimental instrumentation, mostly though, because of Kate's iconic voice. The warbling moaning gets on my nerves before the second song finishes. However, there's no denying Bush's unique and original sound. This album is incredibly inventive and sounds nothing like anything her contemporaries were doing. It was also the inspiration of countless other artists, so she gets a lot of points in those two areas. I just personally cannot enjoy this. I have the thought that maybe it could have been better if she had access to today's technology and could truly musically express herself with no limitations, but this isn't that album. 4/5

I was absolutely shocked at how much I liked this. I was also profoundly stunned at how many times I thought “I actually believe Kanye that he loves this. I can hear it!!” I also had no idea how badly Tori Amos ripped off/paid homage to Kate Bush. As for the album- I really really liked it but I can’t imagine myself putting it on regularly but I’m not sure…. I may love it. Good thing we have the weekend. Update: I’ve now listened to it 3 full times. I like it a lot. What the hell??

Erm this the stranger thing album! Frick yea. Real talk im intrigued - track one is really good but its mad overplayed - side A was good but i don't have much to say about it -side b is far more interesting and weird Overall, a very good 80s progressive pop record. You best of both worlds: Side A got bangers and Side B is super weird and whimsical.

I haven't actually listened to a Kate Bush album, for the reason that I resented her legendary status that Netflix Show helped popularise, and I deemed "Running Up That Hill" overrated. Thing is... I accidentally loved it. Stranger Things have happened, I suppose.

I've never listened much to Kate Bush. Obviously I know 'Running Up That Hill' and have heard 'Cloudbusting' before too, but the rest of her catelog is pretty much unknown to me. I didn't expect such an experimental vibe from the album but I've enjoyed it. It somehow feels very dramatic but also light at times. I think 'And Dream Of Sheep' captures what I mean with a pretty dramatic start that then flows into a more airy and light sound. 'Under Ice' then follows with a very dramatic opening that really creates tension. 'Waking The Witch' starts dramatic, then becomes light and then abruptly transitions into what I think is best described as chaos. 'Jig Of Life' is very folky, and evokes feelings of dancing, but in a slightly discordant way that makes it feel a bit ominous. Standouts Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) Cloudbusting Under Ice Jig Of Life 4/5

I forgot about Cloudbursting. Waking The Witch probably contributed to the Satanic Panic, which makes me giggle. Jig Of Life wants to be the soundtrack for a fight scene in The Witcher until it turns positive and you realize it's about childbirth.

Si dejamos de lado la canción de correr arriba las colinas, este sigue siendo un buen disco. Bien ochentero, pero en el buen sentido.

Her most maximalist and most accessible album, Hounds of Love cannonballs deep into the pool of 80s pop production to immerse the songs in gated drum machine beats, whoompy bass, massive synth lines, huge gospel backing vocals, riffs on the strings, and a kitchen-sink load of sounds and samples. It feels like Peter Gabriel at some points, in the best way. For all the lush production though this is a very cold album, icey and blue and windswept.

Close to a 5 but not quite, falls off a bit as it goes on 87/100

Just magnificent. This is akin to Bowie and better than Roxy Music. This is an art rock classic by a truley unique and amazing talent

I wish Ms. Bush the best of luck in her quest to kill god

The only way this album could have been better was if it had included David Bowie.

Never listened to her before but I know a lot of artists I like were influenced by her music. Great stuff.

good album. i listened to this before and only a couple songs really stuck to me. i sort of get the same feeling on this relisten, but i appreciate the songs i didnt look into as much before more. hounds of love side swept except cloudbusting i still dont really like it all that much. the ninth wave side was still a little more tricky. i dont feel as much attachment to this side. i get that its a concept album, but i didnt really enjoy much of the tracks at least as much as hounds of love side. im not saying its bad though cause i still liked it. definitely a welcome listen. 4 personal favs: hounds of love, the big sky

In recent years, I've made it a point to seek out more female-led bands and singers, and having a passing familiarity with Kate Bush, I'm eager to listen to a complete record of hers. My first impressions give me a lot of similar sounds to Pat Benatar, which is about the highest compliment I can give to a vocalist. The vocals and backing instruments (drums in particular) give a very big sound that makes you feel like you can run through a wall. That being said, the back half of this album is alittle lacking in that regard. Still a good album that I even had the inclination to relisten to right away (not a common occurrence with me), but with a couple changes could've been a 5-star from me. Overall, a very good listen and I'd happily add Kate Bush to my rotation going forward. Notable Tracks: - Running Up That Hill - already iconic pre-2021 but Stranger Things vaulted it into the stratosphere - Hounds Of Love - The Big Sky - Watching You Without Me - The Morning Fog 7/10

Running Up That Hill // Mother Stands For Comfort // Cloudbusting // And Dream Of Sheep //

Notable tracks: Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God), Cloudbusting, And Dream Of Sheep, Under Ice, Jig Of Life, Hello Earth

90/100 This was enchanting. A true classic which I've been meaning to listen to for a long time. The vocals and production are surprisingly experimental at times. If I had any criticisms it's that the first disc does stand out a fair bit more than the second one. Overall experience was amazing

I'm about a 3.5 with this but it's very original. So I'll give it a 4 for creativity. I like the first 3 songs. Jig of Life is pretty cool. Waking the Witch has some demons in it. yikes. The rest of the songs are okay. I appreciate the artistry. I like her chaotic layering of sounds and bursts of layered vocals balanced with some beautiful instrumentation & good beats. She has a kind of surreal sound. At times hypnotizing. Also... sometimes I enjoy listening to an album as Side 1 and Side 2 (like many of them were actually produced). This is a good album for this. The first 6 songs go well together. And the last 6 go well together.

I don’t love Kate Bush. I get the appeal for many but overall she is not for me. That being said, this album is decent. Nothing special, just mildly interesting 80’s art pop.

Running up that Hill gets this to a 4.

Personal enjoyment: 4/5 Relevance to this list: 4/5

max mayfield knows her SHIT

Liked this a lot, probably will listen again.

I think this demands multiple listens to really dig into, as the lyrics come quickly and both the vocal layering and instrumentation are complex. That being said, the front half of the album seems to take a lot less risks than the back, which I preferred -- it has the aura of a dark fairy tale. Listened to: at home. Favorite tracks: And Dream of Sheep, Jig of Life

I tried to get into this album a few years ago (before the ST hype for Running Up That Hill) and it just didn't click. But this time around, it was incredible! A truly strange, adventurous, theatrical record. Kate Bush is giving 1000% effort on each track, regardless of how wild the concept might seem. Favorite song here was "Under Ice" which is a shorter, interlude-ish type track but the layered vocals and building instrumentals are haunting and beautiful.

I'm ultimately not a fan of Bush's vocals, but this album is overall very rich and entertaining.

Love this album! While Running Up That Hill (Deal With God) is the single, I honestly think the title track is the better song. That bass sound on Big Sky. Cloudbusting is such a killer song. The back half of the album is where this puppy gets weird. lots of ebbs and flows. The back half of this album is where the real meat is, it just takes concentration and a dedicated listen to in order to parse it, which I just can't do in the context of this challenge. Will need to come back to. The Morning Fog is like a minute too short.

Running Up That Hill will forever remind me of moving back to England in early August 1985. My family was walking around Banbury, looking in the real estate shop windows, and I heard it on the radio as a new release that week. Loved it from that moment on. Hounds of Love and Cloudbusting are also solid hits.

Wonderful stuff. Loved 'The big sky', that went straight onto my running playlist (the Hounds of love was already on it).

Came back to this after Stranger Things popularized Running Up That Hill. Pretty damn good. Like her voice a lot.

I dig it. Love its dreamy lushness. But my kids think its gay and made me shut it off last night. LOL

Running Up That Hill is better to me as a meme than a song. The first half of the album, Hounds of Love, is great dramatic 80's music with good theming and hints of prog-rock. Even if it is the best version of that sound, it failed to bring a response. MEANWHILE: The 9th Wave is a fascinating piece of art rock I'm pleasantly surprised to have follow. This suite is unique and steps on pop music to show the depth of the artist. Interesting when there's a pairing like this to see reviews of halves of the whole. I'd give it 3.5, but feel its uniqueness is the defining characteristic above average.

A unique album. It has 80s electronic baselines, demons, reels and a lot more. To me it was “like a prayer Madonna” writ large, which I love. I’m allergic to some of the 80s synth textures, but this survives that pretty well!

solid album, great tracks, running up that hill is a beautiful track.

From the early stages of her more experimental works, and to be honest I have struggled with her wackier ones. But the big 4 make this album worth the listen. I'm not really sure why they included this one in here as 'The Kick Inside' and 'Lionheart' were both much better albums. Still, can't bring myself to give it less than a 4.

I just imagined the countless drill samples that the album had. It's a great album!

Единственный нормальный Буш 8/10

Ok wow, I've never listened to a full album by Kate Bush before. I'm blown away but at the same time I need some time to reflect as there's too much to digest here (especially on side 2) for just one day of listening. Side 1 is just pure hits with this particular artsy twist and I love them all. Especially Cloudbusting. Together with the video and the whole backstory, it's incredibly touching and it made me cry today. The lyrics throughout the album are all great and, strengthened by her one of a kind delivery, give off this strong feminine energy, it really makes the album stand out from the rest on this list (dominated by men). Side 2 is more demanding though and on the first listen it's even not that enjoyable. But I can definitely see more depth to it, I just need some more time with it. I'm giving it a 4/5 for now but I can see it becoming one of my favorites in the future.

I love Kate Bush and she always had this sort of ethereal feel to her and I think this side of her shines brightly on Hounds of Love. She knows how to craft an interesting song and has such a unique flavour to her delivery that sets her apart in the pop world

Ever since first hearing The Kick Inside in the late 1970s it's never been replaced as my favourite Kate Bush album. This album is very very good, and many think it perfect, but I find it colder than The Kick Inside.

Running up that hill is a classic. The rest of the album was not excellent, but it was enjoyable anyways.

Se viene baladitas amorosas de derranged white woman¿ A nooo me suena this shite, es la de "if i only cooooould make a deal with goood..." ta fina, se banca. Un poquito Cindy Lauper. Aixina i tot se mantiene lo de dalt, buena song mejor meme.

I am late to the Kate Bush party. I knew of running up that hill from Placebo, then I was a couple years behind on Stranger Things as well, but did at least notice the resurgence of the songs in relation to the show. On my drive into work this was the album I had going, and the tracks seemed to line up in a meaningful way. There was a storm happening in front of me and "Big Sky" was playing as I approached it. As I changed directions and was getting out of the storm it was time for "Cloudbusting" That really doesn't mean anything, but did help a little bit with the senses. Some other songs do seem a bit dated now, but solid overall. Favorite track "Running up that hill" 3.5/5

A very interesting listening experience that is presented as one single sound with variations. Kate Bush's haunting voice beams over this record as it starts with one of her biggest hits; "Running Up That Hill". This album should definitely be included and is very good, but not in my personal top ~100. Therefore 4/5.

Some of her best songs.

I might regret not giving this a 5 later. This is like nothing I’ve really heard before. I love most of the songs, but I’m not sure I like the whole album as much as my other 5s.

Running Up That Hill , The Morning Fog, Hounds Of Love. A medida que lo escucho más le subo la nota.

The lush 80's production is better than most albums of that era. Kate's got all the Irish going on -- she walked so PJ Harvey could run. It's a lovely album to have on in the background -- until you that weird glitchy effect she uses on "Waking the Witch" -- which made me think that my headphones were shorting out. All in all solid, though. Unexpected bangers: Cloudbusting, Under Ice

good album!!!

Rated this a 5 in the early days, but its not that.

An album I've owned and loved for decades. But being honest with myself, it's a 4, there are better albums out there. But very glad to see it on this list.

First half: 3/5 Second half (And Dream of Sheep onwards): 4.5/5

I the diverse range of sounds I love so much in this album and it gives it a really cinematic feel! It’s got that classic 80s sound but surprisingly in a way that still hold up in modern music

A very cool album with amazing songwriting and sounds. Looking forward to listening again - I feel like I have barely scratched the surface of this one. Fav tracks: Hounds of Love, Under Ice, The Big Sky

Great first track. Great album

What a glorious weirdo. 4

Fruity and Irish, 8/10

Good album. I was in the mood for it today. This isn't the type of music I ever think about or seek out.but very good. I'll round up the stars.

A classic album.

Classic Running Up that Hill Really just that song earns the fourth star

más alternativo de lo que esperaba, pero muy bien overall

Listen again as quite like

music is space, and there's lots of it here. carried by a few tracks but overall an enjoyable and empowering experience. 4.2/5

Really, really good. What a voice, what a songwriter. The big hits (Running Up That Hill, the title track, The Big Sky and Cloudbusting) are mega. It's missing out on five stars, because I do think it loses quite a bit of momentum in the last four songs or so, but I love this and will come back to it repeatedly.

Didn't know it but I'd heard it before. Felt the album was pretty creative and although very 80s, plenty felt ahead of its time. Strong start, bit weird in the middle but overall good listen

I’d listened to this before and really like it. Cloudbursting is great on top of the more famous tracks. A great weird listen.

Such a strong start it can't keep it up, but that says more about how good the first two tracks are than anything else. A really interesting inventive album.

Kate Bush u have my heart

Like an 80s lorde but better

This was awesome! So many off the wall ideas for what many would call a pop album. Like how did death metal vocals (If I can call them that) make it on a pop record from the 80s? Very happy to say I'm familiar with this record now. Plan on revisiting many more times and expect to discover something new every time. Such a dense and eclectic record where I'm sure I'll have new things to say each listen.

Operatic vocals over classic 80s electronic synth sounds.

Kate Bush is/was overlooked as a truly great talent and this album is incredible. She got a lot of coverage thanks to 'Stranger Things' which is great, always nice to get more fans/listeners for her! This album has such interesting production for the time and Kate's voice is incredible. Songs like 'Waking the Witch' with the weird voice over work and the crazy vocal work/editing are what make this album ahead of its time. Easy 4/5

Some really good numbers, others are less my thing. overall a quite steady album.

This was a cracking album - throughly enjoyed it

What’s not to like about classic Kate Bush.

Unique voice, loved it

Unique

did not like how it was mixed, but musically I enjoyed it

An artsy piano pop epic full of drama and beauty. The first half is excellent but the second half is a lot more uneven (or at least experimental), leaving me uncertain how to rate it. Definitely one worth experiencing. Best song: Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)

Jig of Life had me feeling like I was climbing Old Man of Storr

The first half is a little weak for me, but once you hit “Under Ice” this shit ironically becomes fire.

Pretty sweet album. Her voice in certain areas is very haunting in a good way.

I doubt I’ll ever listen to it again as I’m not a fan of her voice but this was still really enjoyable

Kate bush has her own realm of pop music and in this it is a great album. A very typic example of 80s music production. But not in an average way.

This feel unlike anything we have listened to yet. Opens so strong, I just wish her voice was clearer on the track. It sounds a little flat. I like the haunting story telling style. So much potential, I think being made in the 1980s hurts it sonically. There is a lot here and it's going for something pretty unique. It's interesting enough and doesn't repell me. But the audio quality deserved better.

beautiful voice good album

Proggy Alternate Jig of life

ik running up that hill gets a lot of attention but i always loved the title track tbh, i think i had not listened to much else from this album before? faves: -running up that hill -hounds of love -the big sky -jig of life

Well that was much weirder than I expected.

just vibes

love the instrumentation. Some bangers, some super slow piano ballads tho which are not my jam. Favorite tracks are cloudbusting and the big sky

it's good

- Amazing vocals, very powerful. Was Marina and the Diamonds inspired? - 80s drums. - First song was incredible. - Great to hear the Irish influence. - The witch and earth themes were quite intense at times, different to what I was expecting in the album.

The opening three tracks are great. Most of the others I found boring. A lot of looping short measures over and over, which is maybe supposed to feel trancey, but I could never get into that. And what was up with the old time song near the end? Overall pretty good album though.

Strange beautiful album filled with Kate Bush’s ethereal voice. Got definite Stranger Things vibes from the start

Great singing and orquestration. A classic

Really incredible pop album. Impressive hearing how it was all self produced. I can see myself returning to this one for sure. “Big Sky” was my favorite other than the obvious Stranger Thangz

Best Songs: Running Up That Hill, Hounds of Love Listen Again: Yes

Recognised a lot more of these than I expected. I enjoyed it and she has a unique sound. I did listen to this immediately after Lightning Bolt's Wonderful Rainbow so may just seem good in comparison.
